You're the only person I know on Tumblr who I feel like I can send this ask so I hope this is ok.

I'm absolutely sick to my stomach terrified. People keep talking about not acquiescing early and to keep fighting and that's good but... I'm a trans person married to a trans person and we have a kid. We are so, so scared that we are going to lose our parental rights and have him taken away, even if he's biologically my partners. We are pretty fucking sure that the only way we could even possibly stay in the US and even possibly keep our family together is to detransition. But then we would still be queer, and I remember the 90s and how it was pretty recent that gay couples were considered unfit parents.

And this isn't us blowing things out of proportion, we have an education in politics so we've got a pretty good freaking idea about how bad things can and will get, but also we don't feel like we can afford to NOT take things extremely seriously. The worst case scenario is pretty horrific for us, so we've talked at lengthe about leaving the country. Which is it's own basket of heartbreaks because then there's a real chance we will never be able to come back. And I don't really feel like I can talk about it because a) the Internet doesn't feel safe to be trans on and b) there's been SO much chatter about how we need to stay and fight and people who can leave are privileged etc etc

I just... I'm scared and heartbroken and angry and I feel extremely hopeless. I guess I don't really have a question after all. I just needed to talk about it because it feels like not enough people are seeing this kind of true tragedy that could come from all this.

I wish there was actual help we could get. But there doesn't seem like there's anyone who can.

You're right, Anon - you're not blowing things out of proportion.

I want to say that I'm relieved in a sense that you are talking about where your lines in the sand are are and what you plan to do if they are crossed. There is hope and comfort to be found in a plan, even if it is a plan for the next generation's survival, instead of our own.

Every trans person needs to start thinking about real answers to the following questions:

What will I do if I'm fired tomorrow?

What will I do if I'm denied a loan? Housing?

What will I do if I lose my HRT?

What will I do if information about trans people is considered illegal to circulate?

What will I do if I I'm declared an unfit parent?

What will I do if my marriage is annulled?

What will I do if I'm declared unfit to own my own property or make my own legal decisions?

What will I do if I'm about to be arrested?

There are answers to all of these questions that aren't just "give up and die." But there's no one-size-fits all solution. People will have varying priorities based on how they see their role in fighting fascism and what resources they have access to.

Community is going to become incredibly important. Trans people have always existed. Sympathetic cis people have always existed. Trans people have always found ways to survive and even flourish, even though it often meant not being able to pursue their original dreams.

If you don't know where to begin with strengthening our community, the Trans Literature Preservation Project is a good place to get ideas. The virtual book burnings have already begun on .gov websites, so maybe doing a little preservation work will give you more hope that you're working to make a difference.

Because the work is important, even if the progress won't happen until after our time.

Okay. So I don't think this is going to be groundbreaking for anyone, but I need to get the thoughts out of my head.

I, like everyone, loved this so much:

But, it has made me think too hard about Shin's need for attention and validation.

The "you're actually pretty useful" line is obviously a sign that for the first time, at least in a while, someone is praising Shin for his telepathy. I'd be willing to bet we'll get more of that in future chapters.

We know from earlier that at this point, he really dislikes his ability even though when he was younger, he insisted Asakura shouldn't be upset about Shin's powers.

(That said, I think there could be some retconing happening here since I don't think the ages would match up, but Suzuki didn't give a specific timeline for the scenes in the lab flashback, so I could be reading it wrong. It's been 11 years, though, so Asakura also could not have a perfect memory/be condensing things. Regardless....)

My read on him saying "aren't you even happy about it" and "your research isn't stupid" to Asakura is not just because he's always supported his research, but also because now his wanting to reverse it feels like there was something wrong with him. What it seems like he's really saying is "aren't you even happy to have me around" and "I'm not stupid."

He's also a kid who obviously wants attention. Growing up as the only kid in a lab of adult scientists probably had something to do with that. Then, on top of that, there's the alienation because of his telepathy.

I feel like younger Shin, to some extent, didn't really think that a blood relation was the only person who could accept him. More, I think he convinced himself of that after feeling rejected by the people in the lab.

Like, talk about attention seeking behavior. He tries to provoke a reaction from Sakamoto any way he can, even if he fully expects that reaction to be negative. I'm sure in his time away from the lab his alienation and loneliness has only grown given he now has nobody.

But he doesn't get any negative reactions from Sakamoto which, at first, frustrates him. But, that then leads to the greater satisfaction of the positive reaction he receives later.

Before that can happen, though, he finally finds his father. At first, he acts like he doesn't even know who Shin is.

If this panel didn't absolutely crush you, I don't know what to say.

Then Sakamoto rescues him and even though his thoughts reveal he wasn't thinking that was (that said, we know Sakamoto, and seemingly other skilled assassins, can pretty easily hide his thoughts from Shin, so who knows if that was just him trying to remain detached) I think for Shin, it was still a meaningful connection, something he hadn't had in a while.

Now! My point to this is, for me, it really recontextualizes a lot of Shin's actions in the present.

He craves attention and validation. Not just from Sakamoto Taro, either.

When he feels he isn't useful enough, he apologizes.

There are definitely more recent examples of this, too, but I need to stop taking screenshots at some point.

All of this culminates into what I think is even sadder upon second reading, when Sakamoto tries to go to Thailand alone.

He is so hurt by this. But even after Aoi has to help Sakamoto realize he's just scared of losing the people he cares about (again), Shin still feels bad, like he did something wrong.

He's still such a kid, looking for validation from the father/older brother figure he's wanted his whole life.

I could go on about how I think there's something to the idea that being a telepath from such a young age could also mess up someone's ability to judge other people's feelings. After all, outside of people like Sakamoto and Nagumo, Shin has no trouble knowing what the person is feeling.

My final thought is, given all of this, my heart is breaking thinking about Shin first learning Sakamoto has retired and, it seems, disappeared. How much did he know? Did Sakamoto leave any note? He's not the most emotionally developed person (I mean, he had no parents and it seems like he was basically raised to be an assassin, so I don't blame him). Not to mention he would've been wary of creating connection and so, consciously or not, may have downplayed his and Shin's relationship.

Shin would've been 15 or 16 when Sakamoto retired. Can you imagine how that must have felt? I'll just remind you of this:

Arcane meta: Viktor was always lying to Ambessa

For many, it felt strange how Viktor was willing to work with Ambessa when he was so opposed to everything she stood for, and it certainly feels out of character for him to offer Ambessa her own immortal robot soldiers since he was so opposed to war.

When Singed tried to convince cult leader Viktor to sacrifice Vander, he immediately pivots away from Ambessa's war aspirations to why Viktor should do it: to 'save us from ourselves', which later becomes Viktor's goal. Singed probably knew potential personal benefits of conquest would never convince Viktor, and guessed this might be a goal he was heading towards.

But I think after Jayce shoots him and Singed revives him, Viktor was already planning to evolve everyone. He was just in a not great position after Jayce shot him, and depended on her and Singed's help to survive and be able to complete his plans. His people skills might not be great, but he probably understood that if he told them 'yeah I'll evolve all your soldiers. I'll evolve everyone. It'll be great. No more wars ever, no more clouding emotions, we'll all share one mind and everything will work out' Ambessa probably wouldn't have helped. She wouldn't have wanted to be evolved herself. But at this point she was pretty desperate for magic weapons, so Viktor promised to evolve her soldiers after he got the anomaly. At which point, he already would have completed the glorious evolution, and if Ambessa were still alive at that point, she would have joined the hivemind and been evolved too.

Viktor depended on her help because Jayce was going to stop him, but he didn't actually want this. He didn't want Ambessa to start a war so he could reach the anomaly, and he thought that if he could convince Jayce to help him, this wouldn't be necessary anymore. He would prefer to do it in peace, but he also decided whatever Ambessa was going to do was an acceptable sacrifice.

I think what changed after Jayce rejected him was Viktor's willingness to go through with his own transformation. I think that scared him, because he still very much wanted Jayce's love back, and I think he viewed that final transformation as the line he was about to cross that would cost him Jayce. He wasn't willing to cross the line until he believed Jayce had given up on him no matter what. He didn't decide he should just evolve everyone vs those willing after Jayce rejected him, he decided he was willing to give up his humanity to see it through.

At least, this is how I interpret the Line, since it feels like Viktor losing a fight with himself, on one hand wanting to hold on to Jayce, being scared of disappointing him, not wanting people to see him, while on the other hand "I'm sure there's nothing left to try", and his transformation is him giving up.

This is actually an insane episode, the trio with their huge amount of lore just drop in in the middle of already established group of characters and their lore and then, they're never seen again after this??

And they had flashbacks to both of their deaths without explaining ANYTHING about what the hell was that. Just five seconds of "being chased and covered in blood", teasing something about their relationship, Crystal dropping her goal of beating her missing memories out of a demon, no conclusion of wtf was "spider-face lady" aka the Night Nurse, etc etc. They needed their own show really badly huh

So netflix hurry up and give us a second season! After seeing this I'm blown away by the execution of Dead Boy Detectives and how Jayden and George really brought the characters to life. I'm so thankful we have that. Their chemistry really is what makes the show.

now second, (and feel free to ignore this wall of text for any reason):

if you're in the mood to talk about meta, i'm curious to hear your take on one season 2 thing that i've been scratching my head about

how much does post-anomaly jayce know about the future? my initial impression was that wizard viktor only told jayce what we see onscreen, and jayce was kind of improvising and trying his best without detailed knowledge of future events.

but some lines ("we're meant to lose this fight") and a comment from the artbook (post-anomaly jayce wearing armor bc he knows there is a battle coming) imply that he knows more than he lets on.

what's your (watsonian) take of jayce's knowledge of the future in season 2? is there any detail in the show that sheds some light on this?

i think jayce knowing or not knowing about certain events really recontextualises some scenes. is he following his own or wizard viktors plans? is he suprised about the events of act 3? i've been rotating this in my head but i'm not sure what interpretation i prefer.

As for your question, it's a really interesting one!

Unfortunately, I do think I need to start the answer with the Doylist one:

Jayce knows as much about the future as he needs to for the plot.

I think this is important to note because it informs an understanding of their choice not to show us him getting an exposition download of everything Wizard Viktor has worked out over the years as to how exactly Jayce can thread this needle of saving Viktor at exactly the right time.

Because, in theory, the amount of optimization could be infinite. It could get all the way down to, "Jayce needs to be scared into falling into this exact pit and spending no more than 3 months there because that gives him the suffering needed for his plea to Viktor to be heartfelt and informed by similar suffering, but not so long that Jayce goes insane from isolation."

Or even things like, "Ekko needs to go to the Happy Zaun universe or else he won't have the sympathy needed for him to prevent Jinx's suicide and without her present at the battle, one of Herald Viktor's mind-control arms snatches up Ekko too soon rather than grabbing Jinx instead, so he's not there to buy Jayce's those critical extra seconds for his appeal to True Love and also put a bomb in Herald Viktor's face."

That said....

I admit, part of me still sort of wishes that Jayce had been the one to go through multiple realities of optimizing, just because I think it answers... a few more questions? Like how did he suddenly get so comfortable with killing someone like Salo, if he wasn't fighting in other universes? Why does he look so aged if only 3-6 months passed? How does he know things like how exactly to get to Viktor's commune and the fact they're going to lose the fight, etc etc etc.?"

I think it would have been cool and very fitting for Jayce but I will admit, the story we got covers all of this too.

Jayce's aging could easily be the product of extreme hardship (I wouldn't be surprised if the animators referred to images of people who have been, say, stranded on desert islands or prisoners of war for long periods to inform just how much Jayce's face muscles wasted away while he was there and just how much extreme hardship can age you because it can be extreme even within a few months and between pain, starvation, dehydration, and magical gangrene, Jayce was going through it).

Jayce's comfort with the idea of killing Salo could just be a product of his hardship (killing and eating lizards with his bare hands lol yuck), or of understanding that assimilated people are already dead, effectively, and to stop that future he cannot hesitate at all. Also, maybe he just fucking hates that guy, which would be pretty understandable after Salo voted to banish him back in 1.02 and also is very funny to me, personally, that he was just a little more comfortable smooshing that particular Councilor than he would be literally anyone else.

And this is were I get to your question: how much does Jayce know? Presumably, if we go Watsonian, whatever Wizard Viktor believed he needed to know to actually thread this needle, because there's probably information he doesn't need to know too.

For example, Jayce might know:

He cannot let a Cultist get back to Viktor with Hexgems. Salo needs to go. Who knows what this prevented but I can easily see how Viktor having more power right now to prolong his healing/assimilation would be a bad thing regardless. Also just... having Salo at all as a potential power player that Viktor could work through.

He knows where the commune is. In theory, he probably could just ask someone in Zaun too I mean, I doubt it's a secret, and narratively we don't need to see that.

He knows he cannot under any circumstances let Viktor talk to him once they're face to face. He can't even look at Viktor after Viktor knows he's there. There's a heavy implication that if Cult Leader Viktor so much as smiles at him, Jayce will fold, if we believe the little flash of memory of Jayce remembering him smiling at him isn't just Dead Wive Vision but is actually Anomaly Future Jayce warning him about what happened to him to lead t that point, which I think is a baller theory.

He can't give into Viktor, ever. He can't let Viktor touch his forehead before the right time. Jayce fights like mad to get away from that robot once Viktor decides that Jayce will be his partner again or else.

He knows he needs to take all the Hexgems out of the base of the Hexgate, but is it to stop Viktor? Or is to buy a few extra seconds while Viktor plugs them back in again so that Ekko has time to wake up? This is the sort of thing where Wizard Viktor might know the real reason for something but doesn't need to get that granular with why because it's about buying time, not actually preventing the Herald from grabbing the Anomaly.

By the way, I have a theory that one reason Jayce needs to get the gem burned into his wrist is because there's universes where his bracelet gets cut off and he loses the gem so Wizard Viktor is like, "This is gonna suck, but you really need this thing embedded in your flesh so it's there at the right time." Though, it could also be so he can engage the magic in his Alt Universe hammer. Still, I am a little sad that it's not an effect of Jayce universe hopping where some battle got it burned into him, because that was my original theory and I'm still very partial to it.

Jayce knows that he has no chance of winning the fight, he just needs to survive it. Once he gets to the top of the tower, once he grasps the hammer, it's all over. From that point on, the only thing he can do is have faith and get his big Power of Love speech ready, that is his only chance.

As for what Jayce is surprised by, I do think he might have been told information but not shown it necessarily. I am still really sad we didn't get a visual of what Wizard Viktor told him but, at the same time, one of the fun parts of Arcane is that it doesn't spoon-feed us, which gives us the chance for discussions like this, so wanting that scene is me being a Jayce addict not because I think it would necessarily strengthen the story.

So I think Jayce doesn't know what Machine Herald Viktor looks like. It's possible that Wizard Viktor doesn't either, because that didn't happen to Wizard Viktor, he didn't get slowed down at the commune, Jayce probably joined him there and probably didn't fight him at all, there's a strong hint that Anomaly Universe Jayce surrendered to Viktor at the top of the tower (the explosion marks around him are behind him, which implies that the force of his conversion might have been in front and willing, like he was kneeling before his king, and we don't have the top of his head to know which direction the fingerprints are positioned in).

So basically, Machine Herald Viktor is a product of Viktor needing Singed to regain enough power to go get the Anomaly, which Wizard Viktor didn't need to do.

It's possible that Wizard Viktor doesn't know about Ekko, he just knows that something outside his awareness has to happen for MH Viktor to be caught off guard, and as MH Viktor says, "That device cannot be," he cannot in his infinite knowledge account for what happens in a world where Hextech never got beyond its infancy with Jayce and Viktor at the helm.

So, at a certain point, there may have been things that Jayce and Wizard Viktor just had to rely on faith to come about too.

But it's way more fun to speculate because I think we'd be punching holes in it instead of speculating on it if we had been given this whole download.

Gilbert on Yves seq

In a couple of words… this bastard (lovingly) appears no more than 5 times. But… he stole all the attention. Maybe it's just me.

I've ONLY finished reading the dramatic ending, so maybe my thoughts are incomplete. But I finally figure him out… I think...

A few screenshots with my thoughts below the cut. Gilbert decided to participate. I can't control them at all.

With Belle

He doesn't really hide his interest. And Belle is very afraid of him. Nothing new, she's afraid of him on every route. Have no idea why. He's such a sweet bunny-boy.

You know, I'm really worried about your lack of self-preservation… Wanna cookie? (hold a cookie in my open palm) ...(he took a cookie) Do you really think that's enough? (deep exhale) You're just exploiting my affection for you…

But at the beginning of the dramatic ending, they have a nice conversation in the hall. And Belle shows that she was chosen to be Belle NOT for her pretty eyes.

He had once again demonstrated his ability to read her mind. Obviously, because she still hadn't learned how to keep a poker face.

And she was scared again… a rabbit indeed.

With Yves

I have already written about his strange hatred for Yves. It doesn't make any sense. Gilbert is a rational person and he has no rational reason to hate Yves. But he continues to mock him.

I think this part can give us some information.

The last line reminds me of his interactions with Belle on his route. And suddenly I realised… I tried to analyze his words from the point of view of a person who has very general views on the meaning of words. But this is Gilbert. He put completely distorted meanings into the words "hate" and "love". How could I forget about it???

So now I think he doesn't hate Yves. He is worried about him. He grew up in a country where you'd be killed if you showed shred of mercy, so he's worried that something like this might happen to Yves. He put him to the trial (as he told Belle, "unintentionally", but with a genius you never know for sure) to either teach him a lesson, get him to change his naive way of thinking, or… to make him stronger.

In chapter 14, they have a nice chat in the hall

Bunny, this is a cold country, so it's pretty cold in the halls too, so you shouldn't spend so much time there… Why do you keep calling me bunny? Because you're bunny. A black bunny with fluffy hair. I wanna ruffle them so badly… Aren't you afraid of me? Why should I? I have cookies… ... (took the cookie) This bribe will not work indefinitely. Well… Then I'll bake a cake.

So, they had a chat

He doesn't confirm or deny this. But if you read his route, you will realize that he describes himself quite accurately. And the funny thing is that he says it in the most mocking way, so Yves definitely won't be able to believe it's true.

The last two lines again give the impression that he is worried… about Yves and Belle. He warned him to be more cautious and less trusting… So that he doesn't lose what he holds dear. Someone might take this as a threat, I see it as advice. Advice from a man who once went through this and is really worried that his beloved or her fiance will go through the same thing.

This is just my personal impression. This may or may not be true. You have every right to disagree with me.

Man Gross by Penelope Scott is such a Life Series Shiny Duo Song, specifically from a Gem point of view.

Analysis under the cut, warning this song has a lot of cursing:

Gem in Secret Life telling Pearl she’s scared of her when she’s red. Her saying Pearl and Scar’s 2v1 was gross. To Gem, Pearl makes Gem look good next to her.

“I'm never gonna feel good again

I've played this game all the way to the end

Look at this stupid little song for you

You're pretty good at this game, too”

Objectively Gem knows Pearl is good at the Life games. She’s won one after all. And she knows she’ll be good at it too, it’s why there’s such a target on her. But both times she has failed to anticipate that Pearl is better than her at playing the game. Not at fighting or killing, but at the game. Because unlike Gem, Pearl isn’t playing offensively, she isn’t challenging people to 1v1s, she isn’t jumping into fights. And that’s frustrating.

“I wish I didn't miss you

Or that I liked you at all

I wish I had the guts to fuck my own life up

I wish I had your set of balls”

Gem is only egging Pearl on because she misses her. She misses that brief moment of connection in Secret Life. She also knows that she’s a target and that makes her allies targets too. It’s why she literally wore one in WL.

Before you go, make it work with the one that you love”

Gem was, in her eyes, discarded by Pearl in SL. Sure, they didn’t have a formal alliance, but Pearl and Gem and the Scotts had a friendship. Gem and Pearl had the murder camel. Gem calls Pearl over to her side and Pearl does the same, neither willing to budge. Pearl attacks Gem and says she doesn’t know why she’s doing it. And Pearl makes Scar a Mounder, takes his side, lands a blow on Gem to solidify it. She chooses her team over Gem.

“I wish I never met you

Or that I wanted you still”

Gem doesn’t want to be Pearl’s ally in Wild Life, she makes that clear. She taunts her and threatens her and tells Scott to keep her in line. At every chance that Pearl reaches out, Gem slaps her hand down. But she still remembers their red life spree in Secret Life. She tells Pearl they can be friends when they’re both red. She’s grasping at memories of a dynamic they no longer have.

“I wish I had the guts to fuck my own life up

I wish you'd just come over and kill me”

This one is quite literal. Gem in Wild Life told Pearl she wanted a 1v1 over and over. She doesn’t care if Pearl wins. In fact, she knows Pearl might. She just wants what she believes is a fair fight. She literally stands still and lets Pearl try to kill her in the final session.

“And I don't even resent that

Do you get that I don't even object

I don't mind what you meant

But then how dare you express

Whatever brand of respect this is

When I made sure that we both know I'm a mess”

Pearl may see the fact that she doesn’t do 1v1s as a sign of respect. She’s intimidated by Gem, that’s why she wants to catch her in traps or kill her in a group. But to Gem it’s frustrating. It’s cheap. Pearl is good at PvP, Gem keeps repeating that when they fight on other servers it tends to be 50/50 who wins. Whatever kind of respect Pearl is showing, Gem doesn’t want it.

“I hate it most when they're kind

When they have meaningful lives

And I'm the awful one standing next to them

It was an earnest suggestion, a real connection

Every part of me poses a threat to them”

Pearl does reach out to Gem over and over in Wild Life. Gem knows she’s being unreasonable, that she’s causing drama on purpose. She literally says to Pearl that’s she’s not even that mad about the 2v1, she just wants to make drama (which I think is her trying to look more unaffected than she is). She knows it doesn’t make her look good. That losing that moral high ground means losing her whole argument against Pearl. But she also can’t lose her emotional high ground. It doesn’t make her look good to keep rejecting someone who approaches with open arms. But it does make her look like she’s in control.

“And if you're mean, then they'll laugh

Like they don't understand

If you got it, you would fucking go home, well

Say that you want me still, say I'm just mentally ill

Or I'm just a bitch, but, you'll never know”

This bit makes me think of the RoboPearl conversation. Gem and Joel were literally mocking Pearl to her face and treating her like a dog to be ordered around and Pearl just sat there and beep booped pathetically. It wasn’t until that moment that Gem told Pearl that when they were both red they could have fun again. She needed Pearl beneath her to make the offer.

“But I'm a chemical compound

You're just the gun in my mouth

If you'd stop romanticizing who I am at parties

You'd find your way out”

If Pearl stopped thinking about Gem as the Gem from Secret Life, she wouldn’t keep coming back in Wild Life. If she could see Gem for who Gem is at the moment, someone who doesn’t want her, then she would walk away. But if there’s anything know from Double Life, it’s that Pearl doesn’t give up on her friends that easily.

“I wish I weren't a liar

I wish that I could be kind”

Gem isn’t kind in Secret Life. No one is, but she has a reputation. She’s responsible for most of the server dying because of her Boogey task. It’s why she spends so much of Wild Life trying to make friends. She needs to prove that she can be kind.

“I wish that I could trust you

That things would turn out fine”

And how can Gem trust Pearl again? She thought they had a bond in Secret Life, she thought that being friends was enough. So instead, she pushes her away and tells her to go back to her allies. She won’t be hurt like that again.

And you'll never ever see me again”

If Pearl didn’t keep approaching Gem, they probably would have barely talked in Wild Life. She stuck to her little island with Joel and made friends with everyone but the Gs.

Lyric Analysis of "The Future Is So Yesterday".

so. i want to talk about cobs' song and how there's a lot of hints there in which they're basically telling you to not trust him. lyrics were provided by @tdutb.

The first verse introduces you to a basic idea of what Cobs' character is as a whole. The opening with his catchphrase, and then the continuation in which he says "when everything is run your way/your influence is everywhere", it hints at the fact of how Meeple is a big monopoly of a company, showing that it is most likely the only place where people can get technology at. This can also be interpretated at how much control Cobs has over the show. "You tell me I'm too ambitious/I say I don't care!" is pretty much what happens with 3gs after the song is done. Cobs doesn't care about morale or about stopping, as 3gs says, he just wants the best of THE BEST, "anything that falls short of that doesn't matter".

The way Cobs treats the audience is quite... strange. He doesn't get too much into the coorporate bussiness, since he knows that they don't care for that. A big thing about Cobs' character (alongside the whole Twitter Takeover as well) is that he KNOWS his clients will take anything they can get along as they understand what it does. However this verse can be interpretated in another way: it can also be talking to the us, the audience, itself. It can be about Cobs doing what the audience wants. It could be Cobs saying what the audience wants to believe. "When everything is run your way" can be taken as "When everything is in your way" too.

"I'll never lose if you keep letting me win" is the part that sets off all alarms. This could be directed at Mephone4 and the contestants themselves, who are scared of Cobs, therefore giving him power, never allowing themselves to have a chance at winning.

"But with the good that I do, is that such a sin?" It is very clear that the only actions Cobs has taken in the whole show were meant to hurt Mephone4, and to hurt people by all means possible. However, he's convinced, or believes, that it is all for a greater good. For the greater good of innovating and producing, to keep his empire running forever and ever. I wouldn't be surprised if II ends with an immortal technological version of himself of some sorts.

"I created all that you believe! You gave me power you can't relieve!"

These lines are very very important to his character, and they also go back to 3GS and II as a show. Mephone4 has said that Cobs has had control of it the whole time despite the fact that it was a show Mephone4 made. The power that can't be relieved is The Shimmer Egg.

This shows how much power he has over everyone.

This is Cobs being dismissive once again, because he doesn't think about what he has made lately, but about what he can do now at that moment. "Did I leave you in the past?" Could be a reference to perhaps 3GS or the other phones, who Cobs dismissed as quickly as 3GS didn't complete the mission accordingly.

It can also be him being private about MephoneX.

Cobs is once again, dismissive about people wanting to know his intentions or goals. But we know already what he has in mind, he wants to take more and more.

"But if I've caused suspicion, hey! Take my apology!" Is a very insincere line that shows how quick he is to disregard people's views on him, this was also noticeable on his debut episode, when Microphone called him out for creating the mephones that tried to kill Mephone4. This is just pretty much telling you that you shouldn't trust him but, it gets worse.

This is pretty much confirmation of Cobs having something much more sinistier going on. Of course he's not going to say anything about it. We know how secretive he is. It's almost him laughing at our faces.

"No doy!" means "I don't give!" on spanish, although I'm not sure if that's meant to have any deeper meaning as of now. However,

"I mean, you always think I've got something to hide, and this is no different, you've implied!" Is pretty telling on it's own. Cobs is a known liar.

Again. His debut episode is proof of this.

and again, just another reminder of how much power cobs has now. how he's everywhere and how much damage he can cause.

lucanis/rook good. lucanis/neve good. lucanis/davrin DEFINITELY good. but i think we are sleeping on lucanis/harding. here's a link to some of their banter, though i'm not sure it's everything in the game.

harding starts the game casually threatening lucanis (like davrin) with her very fancy demon-killing arrow. and yet, aside from the one line where he points out that she only has the ONE arrow, instead of getting bitchy with her the way he does with davrin, lucanis seems to respect her bravery. he notes in another cutscene (i'll get to it later) that her being so small physically might have made it easier for other people to intimidate her when she was young, so it's possibly he was making incorrect assumptions about her based on her size and easy-going nature, and is surprised to find she's made out of pretty tough stuff after all, despite of those things

she then throws him totally off-guard by assuring him she isn't brave at all, but terrified of him (or spite), and she knows that if he does lose control, it won't even be his fault - but she'll put him down no matter how scared she is. lucanis's reaction to this is to first try to laugh it off as brutal honesty, and then grow sober and TELL HER TO KEEP HER BOW CLOSE? one little shred of sympathy and kindness totally obliterated whatever combative sarcasm he was gearing up to give her with that "only one arrow" business.

later, lucanis urges her to watch their enemies rather than him - he's genuinely concerned that she's so scared of him and distracted by him she's going to get herself hurt.

lucanis, who canonically doesn't sleep and gets lots of bad dreams, talks through all of harding's dreams with her - from the silly and mundane to the genuinely terrifying - and goes out of his way to buy her spearmint to help with her nightmares. like he cares SO MUCH

after weisshaupt (on my playthrough, anyway) we learn that harding has since GIVEN her demon-killing arrow to him to prove to him she trusts him, and he wants to give it back to prove that he trusts her. it's genuinely very sweet

also after weisshaupt, harding comforts lucanis and tries to get him to stop torturing himself over his missed shot at ghilan'nain. she's not alone in doing this, but it's still good

COFFEE SCENE. not only does this scene prove lucanis pays close attention to harding, he looks at her with so much fondness here...and after this scene, their party banter involves her working through what he's pointed out about her. his dialogue implies that she shouldn't change to appease other people - because he cares about her well-being AND because he thinks she's great just the way she is.

NOT ONLY THAT, but harding realizes lucanis's evaluation was so keen because he himself is a little bit of a people-pleaser - and with that observation, once again manages to catch him off-guard. she surprises him throughout their relationship

one of my favorite bits with them is comparing notes on their various magical situations. both of them are firmly non-mages who have been unwillingly saddled with magical or magic-adjacent abilities. lucanis is the first to figure out why constantly using magic always makes her hungry (from experience) and he can also relate to being completely freaked out the first time her magical abilities manifested.

near the end of the game, lucanis admits that harding's reputation with the bow is more than earned, and even expresses interest in working with her in the future, after the war against the gods has ended, for an absurd amount of coin. i've seen people point to this banter as proof that lucanis doesn't know the value of money ("it's a banana, michael, how much could it cost? ten dollars?"), but he does his own shopping - he absolutely does know the value of money, he just ALSO places a high value on harding's skills and trustworthiness. i would dare to venture he is smitten!

Sims In Bloom: Generation 2 Pt. 54 (The Game Tried to Take MY SON!)

cw: toddler peril. I learned a lesson about playing with unpatched mods but I played up a bit of drama despite not accepting what happened as canon. Only shot of Ash is above because more felt gratuitous for something that technically never happened because I reversed it.

The quiet house unnerved him. Conrad knew something wasn't right. He texted Heather, and in less than a minute his phone rang. "I'm sorry I didn't text," she sobbed through the phone. "Ash's daycare called and I...I...I'm at the hospital with him now. Doctors have him sedated."

"What happened?!"

"It was daycare," she repeated. "They said he was on the slide but then they looked away and...and they thought..." She broke down, and Conrad felt her pain through the line. Her fear shook the phone in his grasp.

"It'll be okay. I'm on my way there."

He embraced her when he walked through the door to St. Sims Hospital, and she fell into his arms. "He'll be okay," he assured her, but he didn't know any better.

"How did this happen?" she cried. "What kind of mother lets her son-"

"Stop. This isn't on you."

"If I didn't work so much, I could have been home with him. Maybe I could have..."

He pulled her close, feeling every tense muscle in her rigid body. "This isn't on you," he repeated. "And we're not gonna lose him. We'll all get through this together. We're a team, remember? That means Ash, too."

She was quiet. "Conrad... Do you believe in curses?"

"Like witches?"

She frowned as her thoughts pounded against her skull. "I don't know. Maybe. Maybe mermaids? But Mortimer Goth told me a story once about cursed Landgraabs, and I know how it sounds. She managed a smile, but when the doctor emerged from the pediatric care unit, she raced over to hear word of her son. "How is he? Oh, Watcher, please let him be okay..."

Dr. Serra smiled. "He hit his head pretty hard, but other than a headache for a few days, we think he's going to be fine. We want to keep him overnight for observation, but he's awake and he's asking for you."

Heather's whole body breathed with relief as she embraced her son's doctor. "Thank you!" she sobbed. "Thank you so much!"

Behind her, Conrad felt his muscles loosen. He'd been so focused on Heather, he didn't even notice his own fear at the thought of Ash in peril. "Thank you, Doctor. We're so grateful."

Dr. Serra smiled. "You must be Conrad. Ash asked for you, too."

Ash would recover quickly, but Heather wasn't so sure about herself. Even with Conrad's unflinching support, she felt torn apart by guilt over her son's near-fatal accident while she'd been working.

She was always working, trying so hard to earn enough to buy out her clinic from Ash's other family. ->

It's in a second save and I'll use it again for babies, but hopefully we're not back here for any tragedies anytime soon.

How did this happen?!? Needless to say, Heather's guilt is also mine. I had too many mods and tested fate playing before updating them all! I played some Ultimate Decades Challenge generations and still have the Children and Toddlers Can Die mod installed (I like having options, I guess?), which only kills toddlers with hunger if I'm not mistaken. I was also having some mod issues after the Lovestruck update and didn't realize it until this happened, but the toddler needs bars stayed in the green while their needs deteriorated and I didn't know. Only the toddlers!

So I followed Conrad to work and when he came home Ash was gone and Heather had the 'lost a child' grief moodlet. Cue my internal scream! I revived him instantly with MCCC because this is not UDC and I have plans for this kid! I was so shocked I didn't take any screenshots of the whole disastrous event, but I couldn't pretend it absolutely didn't happen. And honestly the accident ties in with Heather's nagging fears the curse could be real, which is the one unintended benefit of this whole thing.

More humorous takes about the Bridgerton brothers that make me laugh is that I cannot stress enough, how much I love their 'unhinged for wife' energy. Because it's just so funny

Anthony, like, you can see it, he's not even trying to hide it, he can and will be a meanie to his nemesis Kate who he also happens to love more than life itself, and to everyone if they don't fall in line. that's his whole mojo. People meet him and know at first glance that Anthony Bridgerton will not hesitate to use a gun if the occasion calls for it, because he outright intimidates people into submission. So good luck trying to mess with him or with his wife. He will end you. Have you seen him play against his wife in Pall Mall. He loves her, but he will not lose to this woman! She will one day respect him!. He's the boss of the house dammit (he's not, it's Kate, but she lets him think he is)

Colin is my favorite. because he looks nice and he looks friendly, and he would totally sink to the deepest of the low to have Penelope the moment he kissed her. This man is absolutely as unhinged as Anthony possibly more so, and he hides it so well, that everyone thinks he's the most charming brother. In fact the only person who knows how crazy Colin really is, has to be Penelope. Colin can talk his way out of anything (even a murder sentence. Do you ever wonder why nobody has ever sued Penelope for defamation? Because I sure don't), he's a people person. It's maddening, I want to convince people that Colin is the worst of the worst, and people are still like 'but he looks like such a harmless guy, just look at him eat that eclair' yeah! I know! that's how he got to Penelope! he was all cute, pretending to be nice and by the time she discovered he was the devil in disguise, he already had blackmail material on her!!. Men like Colin scare me, because I know he's bats*t but I just can't prove it.

Benedict and Gregory are just the same version of unhinged, just in a different font. Because they actually believed themselves to be the sane ones and then they met their true loves and you see that sanity? it went out the window.

Benedict used to think he was such a gentleman, who respected ladies and would never dishonor one, and guess what kind of obsessive idiot he turned into the moment Sophie said 'no' to his seduction tactics, be my mistress this, be my mistress that, Sophie ( and I) just knows Benedict's thought process alone should be landing him in jail instead of her, but he gets away with it, because apparently annoying her to death doesn't actually count as a crime. And the thing is, that she's the only one who triggers the crazy in Benedict, he's perfectly sane with everyone else, but it's her and only her who has him going all naked swimming in the lake, and obsessive paintings of her face plastered on all his sketchbooks (and his home, actually I'm pretty sure Benedict has a secret Lady in Silver shrine somewhere in My Cottage, that he took down before Sophie could find out about it) , not to mention his whole 'F society if I can't f Sophie' love at first sight excuse that somehow everyone swallows without questioning how crazy Benedict actually is.

And then he had to go teach that to Gregory! And Gregory was such a sweetheart, I actually thought he was going to make it to half of his book without going unhinged and then Lucy tells him the name of her fiancee and he goes ' wait, I know the guy, he's super gay, I can't let you marry him... ' my brother in the force what is your problem! Leave the girl alone. She's your friend, stop stalking her, she's got her own problems to deal with!! Lucy did nothing to deserve how Gregory randomly went from nice guy she was super supportive of in the courtship of her best friend, to kinda obsessive dude who won't leave her alone and wants to ruin her arranged marriage (let's ignore that said arranged marriage needed to be ruined and it might as well be by him). Guy was a green flag for Hermione but the moment he began fixating on Lucy, homegirl kinda saw the light and was like ' he's crazy, yup, totally mad.. about me sure, but this guy... He's never been told no in his life and it shows, it shows for miles'

And I just laugh so hard because people look at Anthony's fed up face and somehow think that he's the worst to fear in in the Bridgerton family. But nobody knows just how crazy his brothers are, except their wives. At this point Anthony's resting B face has to be some sort of defense mechanism because he had to grow up with Benedict and Colin while trying to raise Gregory. He may look intimidating but he's actually a reasonable man if you think about it. But his brothers, those three are just hiding their unhinged for wife energy a lot better. And you just don't want to know what kinda chaotic crazy thing they're capable of doing if they think it would impress Penelope, Sophie and Lucy

And that's the tea.
