So, I started watching Link Click...
#poorly drawn link click#Link Click#cheng xiaoshi#lu guang#I am only at episode 4 - waiting to watch the rest with my buddy (It's been few weeks and I'm vibrating! I really enjoy it!)#btw I am 100% blind for this show! All I know is that it's Good and Tragic. So NO SPOILERS PLEASE!!!!#Once again I am in Clintbeefwood's debt for the recommendation.#I am so intrigued and hooked by this show. I have also nearly cried at every episode so far.#I already feel so many comic ideas buzzing at the back of my brain!#This one is inspired by the end of episode two. Because what the hell was that energy at the end of the episode?#Also the fondness of which they played basketball together.#I am 80% sure they will not kiss nor have romantic inclinations but I enjoy their dynamic immensely#The 20% doubt comes from the very queer coded old lady yuri episode + the inherent homoerotism of doomed timeline stories.#If they do kiss you I'm drawing them making out sloppy style because I *know* one of them is going to die very shortly afterwards.

i would like to say my ideal PJO adaptation (if i was being physically forced against my will to have to pick a live action adaptation over an animated one for some reason) would be a combo like writing of the musical + casting of the show + visuals of the movies
BUT the show actually does have the playwright for the musical as one of the major writers for like three episodes and that did nothing for it. so...
#pjo#riordanverse#pjo tv crit#i do love the casting for the musical lots and lots though#it was really good#i do also have some nitpicks for show casting but they're largely inconsequential#like majority i very much enjoy and think are cast well#i only have one i'd say im actually disappointed with and that's Poseidon. idk he just feels. bland??? does that make sense?#like idk maybe it's the costuming but im not getting Sea God *or* Fishing Dad from him#like i think i kinda see what they were going for and i saw some gifs of him in another show where he plays a pirate and its like#okay. *little* bit better. but idk im just not getting Poseidon from it#in general most of the immortals in the show dont feel very Immortal(tm) but thats definitely mostly just the writing/show itself#not any reflection of the casting#my only other two are i would have liked plus sized Clarisse. i am VERY sad we didnt get that#Dior is a VERY good Clarisse though so i'm not too upset about it. i like her Clarisse energy. the yelling is fantastic.#my most controversial pjo tv take is im still meh on Walker. like he's fine. but like he's kind of Just Fine to me so far#its probably mostly the writing being bad but he hasnt grown on me as Percy yet. i can tell he has the energy though in interviews n stuff#and the main trio dynamic in interviews and stuff is *very* good. i just wish the show writing was better#because the casting IS very good but they have so little to work with. you can really tell theyre trying their best#i like to joke the show would be better if they just set the cast loose in the woods doing in-character improv#like its clear basically all of them know their characters SUPER well. id watch 8 episodes of in the woods pjo cosplay improv.

Connection & Passion. Individual Yet Connected A Comm From Worlds Beyond 💚
#my art#commission#object oc#Another commission another happy pair of souls#A fun part about this character in specific was all the extra lore bits & details I got to work with!#If I'm being honest it feels this piece is me scratching the surface fo what makes them interesting#At least to me hehe#I really do enjoy commissions that give me a lot to play with and a lot to thing about and this was no different#Also fun fact: I've hidden an Adam Lice image reference in two comms so far#One of the commissioners is aware but I have yet to know if the other is hehe#I'm able really proud of how I did the tail here. I still need to get better at showing things in motions but this feels right#Forever learning forever growing it seems

Sometimes I still can't believe that after 10 and a half years that Aidan Gillen is no longer my #1 celebrity crush but whats even more shocking to me, and throws me off at the most random times, is that he was replaced by Jon Fucking Hamm!
Like, I knew one day Aidan would be replaced, I just didn't think it would be by someone so damn famous.
#its kinda surreal at times#but i still wouldnt change it#im throughly enjoying this foray into what it is to love Jon Hamm#its been an absolute pleasure so far#its wonderful to like a man who laughs and smiles a lot#who shows many emotions#it definitely makes my gifs much more interesting#like im sorry y'all but i felt like i could make five different gifs of Aidan in a scene and they'd all look like the same damn gif#cuz he doesn't really express emotion#for those of you new to my blog you'll find that i'm a one celeb kinda gal#i have one main that i'm crazy about and that's pretty much it#save for a few weeks here and there where i may enjoy looking at someone else#so i kinda get set into routine with whoever my main is

The fact the Ruby got jealous of how her brother gets to interact with pretty girls and didn’t react AT ALL to the other guy’s introductions on the show is further proof that she is indeed a canonical lesbian

the state of subtitles these days is so rancid. im watching this show that's in german and occasionally there will be a few sentences in another language. so. the subtitles will go [in language] to indicate what language is being switched to but because i'm using the english subs. the subtitles in question--instead of being. like. you know. not a fucking incompetent. SOMEONE (or. let's be real. probably some fucking AI) DECIDED IT WOULD BE A GOOD IDEA TO USE [IN ENGLISH] INSTEAD OF [IN GERMAN] WHEN THEY SWAP BACK TO THE MAIN LANGUAGE
LIKE A FUCKING FOOL
#for fuck sakes it should not be so hard...#kayla rambles#anyways. the show is 'the empress'#and actually i'm really enjoying it so far (only on ep 3 though) BUT THIS IS PISSING ME OFF

Finally saw Wicked today. I fear it is, in fact, actually all that and a bag of chips. Like it is genuinely that good
#ramblings of a lunatic#storywise i actually found that they were stretching act 1 a bit thin and it showed in the pacing#but in terms of execution of the musical numbers and aesthetic quality of the sets/costumes/etc???#ohhh bitch. I'm sorry im so fucking seduced by john chu's vision of oz#i am also on team 'this bitch should be more technicolour' but I'm also not a lighting/cinematography guy#like i like Pictures and Images but I'm shit at lighting + composing film shots so yknow. stones and glass houses and everything#anywayyy i love the wizard of oz im a little obsessed w the wziard of oz and all related properties maybe. maybe#god idk if I'd actually enjoy it but i would be really curious to read the book version of wicked. i know it's incredibly different#not just in terms of focus and content but also in terms of being very dense and reportedly a lot drier#but also i do want to see his vision very badly. like when he made oz a surveillance state?? that's smart! it's plainly in the og series!#it's just treated as normal there#but anyway yeah back to the musical i am NOT ashamed to admit i got full body chills during defying gravity#there were parts that were so. sincere and self serious and melodramatic that i couldn't help but love#like YES enough!! with the self referential ironic humour crammed into everything!!!#linger on a moment for far too long and make me sit uncomfortably in the saccharine melodrama!!! it's good for me!!!#the people want big budget fantasy musicals gang...they want razzle and dazzle and heartfelt song!!#and i agree with the ppl. i AM the ppl#wicked movie. good. i enjoy#might just be riding the high of watching it but like idc I'm allowed

Limnnnn any thoughts on The Acolyte so far? Bc you have the best thoughts lol
Hi Ell! Thank you for the ask! The first thing that came to mind is something that's been bugging me recently- just enough to talk about it. The fandom of Star Wars, at large, seems very keen to ignore the Buddhist roots behind a lot of the ideals of Star Wars, attachment, and the Jedi.
Like. Recently I watched a SW YouTube video, which I highly advise against doing, and in it the video paraphrased a comment saying that the comment stated that Star Wars was inspired largely by "westerns, samurai films, WWII films, classic cars, and religious meditation practices." In ACTUALITY, what was quoted as "religious meditation practices" in paraphrase was written as "Zen Buddhism" in the original comment.
It's mind boggling to me why anyone (much less a YouTube channel about Star Wars, who would know about the roots of the themes and ideas of Star Wars) would reduce the real-world ideas that inspired the universe and all of the Jedi to "religious meditation practices". Like. Removing this context that George Lucas so strongly intended as a Buddhist himself is wishy washy at best and actively harmful at worst.
We can talk about Lucas's/SW's orientalism all we want, (and smarter people than me have said better things about that,) but I'd argue that this exclusion of real world religious and cultural ideas, by the fandom specifically, contributes to that. And maybe if we had greater intercultural understanding, we would have fewer arguments about what 'attachment' in SW really means.
In short, not great. Aside from that, I'm really enjoying the show itself so far!! I just finished the third episode! Like other people, I'm sure there's more to the story on Brendok, but I really appreciated the simple parable of Mae's actions. If you can't let go of your attachment, if you let your desire for control guide your actions, you will set yourself on fire. Also star wars is at its best when it has twins. I love Star Wars when Star Wars has themes! I'm excited to see what's coming next!!
#guys. buddhism is not meditation. lmao.#I'm really enjoying this show so far!#the acolyte#lim posts#lim on star wars#My one and only fear going into this series was that it would canonize a version of the Jedi which George Lucas never intended#& you could apply that to any and all sw to an extent#(looking at you TCW s7)#but fandom tends to fixate on the worst version#and there are already misconceptions abound about what the Jedi are... sigh. it's not worth going into#and i hope that it won't be.#the acolyte spoilers#mae aniseya#osha aniseya#mae and osha#asks#lim answers#kyberjelly

I realized something last night when, scrolling Youtube for entertainment, I got recommended a penguin video from 13 years ago. Just a guy sitting around observing penguins in the wild. I was kind of struck by how long it has been since I last just watched a nature documentary. Most animals I see today are, like, funny pet videos or passing-bys "storytime" clickbaits with added music and robot voiceovers. I just, genuinely, hadn't seen a nature documentary in years. Or I guess the term would be "given", considering our algorithm-centric web. As a kid, I'd get my hands on every animal show and book I could find. I'd look up animal facts online and ask my parents to go to zoos or museums. I remember getting really mad when the nature channel kept putting up other programming like dog training stories or extreme vet visits. I'd been taught about the concept of TV Reality shows, and the most I got from it at the time was "it's boring shows for adults with made up stories" and, more importantly, it didn't have the wildlife footage I wanted to see. But I guess I got caught up in it, in the end. I only have the subscription page active on youtube, but here I am clicking on whatever looks entertaining to fill in space instead of impatiently waiting for shark week or whatever upcoming channel animal special was announced. New age media content online basically turned into the "popular filler shows" that was getting in the way of my "animal tv" and I stopped choosing what I wanted to watch. It was kind of a sobering discovery. I looked up a bit online, picked up a David Attenborough-narrated nature documentary, and just. Man. At first it felt a little slow and silent until I realized that was always the case, quiet time to let the footage take center stage, before the internet pivoted to creating a whole business around fast-paced, short videos with aggressive audio and quick cuts and automatic skips to keep you stimulated. Took a few minutes of focused watching at first, but then I was engrossed in it for the rest of its hour long runtime. Anyways, here I am doing a huge clear of my youtube subs and carefully picking out a few good documentary channels on specific interests so "watching something" can return to being an active, curated activity again.
#I'm realizing maybe I don't need to hear 6 different guys I know nothing about talk about my favourite games and repeat each other#So many 3 hours “essays” that ramble and circle instead of drafting concise points that would fit in an hour. We're just filling space#Hundreds of people trying to hustle by putting out daily/weekly “stuff”. And that's ok I guess; But I think consuming all that constantly..#It feels like it made me a passive consumer of “online content” instead of an active seeker of things! I want to channel the latter more#I wanna keep it to a choice few I really enjoy; the ones that feel like I'm making time in my day to watch because I really want to see it#Rather than keeping a wide range of “whatever” to pick at when I don't know what to do with my time#I've had trouble associating video media as something that can be mindfully done and I think it's because social media's morphing of videos#as “content” seriously mucked my relationship with it; is a video not the same as a movie or show if you take the same approach-#of interest when seeking it? Purpose first- then you can sit with it fully when it is found#ok I'm done rambling. Wish me luck finding good documentaries because fuck if it's not full of AI thumbnails already#text#meposting#2025's mindfulness goal has been doing a lot of good so far tbh; It's a rough process! But it's improved my daily a bit already

Writing this Final Fantasy 7 fanfic is kind of a weird experience, because I try to stick to the tone of the original work, and Final Fantasy 7 can get darker in tone than what I'm used to. Do I warn for "Canon Typical Hojo"???
Actually, I notice that there's quite a few Final Fantasy 7 stories on AO3 tagged with "Content Warning: Hojo", or "Hojo Being Hojo", so I guess I do? Also, "Bad Dad Hojo", which is relevant since the story is about Chadley. Hojo is not winning any father of the year awards in that one scene in Rebirth where he acknowledges Chadley's existence. Enslaving your kid to work in your evil science lab is also not great parenting.
I don't normally dislike fictional characters, but I think I do dislike Hojo. I don't really... want to look at him. Is this one of those "confront characters" I keep hearing about? It was hard to even analyse him so his actions would make sense in the story. I think he's someone who once experienced not being the smartest person in the room, and made it his life's mission to make sure that never happened again.
This story is also making me like MAI, after being indifferent to her for a while. I'm going with Chadley accidentally creating a person while trying to create an AI assistant, with neither of them having realised it yet. That gives them an interesting dynamic! At least to me.
I just hope I have the energy to edit this story into making sense, so I can finish it. And also to keep playing the original game up to when this story is set. The canon story stuff is happening in the background, and I know roughly what happens, but I really should play through it as well.
#Final Fantasy 7#Final Fantasy 7 Remake Trilogy#Chadley#Hojo (Final Fantasy)#MAI (Final Fantasy)#There's a bit near the end I need to fix in the outline but otherwise I'm happy with the general plot#Since Chadley has a canon age (15) I assume he ages normally and that Hojo raised him from an infant#'Dorky but rebellious human teenager' would be a weird assistant choice for Hojo to make from scratch anyway#And the Rebirth strategy guide describes him as having gone through Hojo's medical procedures without saying Hojo created him#So I think Chadley's upbringing probably had a huge effect on him#In what I've got so far Hojo's presence is felt some time before he actually shows up#I can't promise this story will be any good but I am really enjoying writing it
