At first I was thinking if Donna went with the doctor after that initial meeting then they'd get a little more time but then we wouldn't get Martha :/
But THEN I realized I can decide what would happen and now I wish she did because then they'd pick up Martha after and we could've gotten double content if Martha and Donna interacting and now I'm sad that didn't happen like that it would've been so good. Martha wouldn't be so alone with her feelings and maybe even get over them sooner who knows
RIP Martha you were golden I'll live you forever, sucks about the unrequited feelings thing.
Do you think Donna could've pretended to be a new hire nurse well enough to be apart of the doctors scheme of being a weird patient in Martha's debut episode?
OUGH okay a few things
1: every damn day of my life I think about if Donna had been part of season three every time her and Martha interacted it was so so so SO lovely and wonderful and NICE finally someone is fucking VALUING HER PROPERLY!!!!!! Also I think Donna would've straight up bitten Ten at least once in defense of Martha's honor. I also think there's multiple times where The Doctor is telling Martha something and Donna is right behind him like
and it takes all of Martha's power to not start laughing OUGH sorry i just love how at ease and silly and happy Martha was with Donna around. Like god GOD they should get to be girl best friends i hope they DO get to be girl best friends now that Donna has her memories back!!!!!!!!
2. This is a Martha Jones stan account forever and always!!! Proud of her for moving on from her shitty ex and also fuck anyone that doesn't love my GIRL!!!!!!
3. I don't think she plays a new nurse because I think runaway bride Donna has fully solidified her grifter's spirit yet. I DO however think that if she's still in her wedding dress (rip) when Martha is like "what the fuck is this guy's deal??" Donna's just like uhhh that's my...fiance.....and his, um, pacemaker is fucked up and Martha's like "oh that should definitely get fixed" and Donna's like "no it's fine I'm trying to outlive him so i can have his money" and Martha's like *voice two octaves higher* okay
#I LOVE YOU DONNAMARTHA I LOVE YOU DONNAMARTHA I LOVE YOU DONNAMARTHA OOOOO#NOW THAT DONNA HAS HER MEMORIES BACK WE SHOULD GET DONNAMARTHA AGAIN YOU WANNA GIVE US DONNAMARTHA CONTENT SOOOOOO BAD @BBC#greetings-fiends#replies#doctor who#donna noble#martha jones#tennant doctor

More oddduck pleaaaaaase
Sometimes, Clark really hated having super hearing. This was one of those times. And now he had a whole new level of sympathy for you when he and Lois were being cutesy in the early days of their relationship while you politely pretended to be both blind and deaf.
Nothing was explicit. But hearing BATMAN making flirty comments to you and hearing you make them back, however quietly, was just... well frankly it was off-putting. He'd seen the man punch someone into a bloody pulp. And here he was, draping his jacket around you as the sun went down and quietly asking "Can I kiss you?"
"Now?" you answered, looking up at him.
"Well. I was hoping for now but if you need to check your schedule-"
And when you make a soft needy noise that made his stomach turn, Clark shot Lois an annoyed look. She looked entirely too pleased with herself when Bruce bent down to kiss you.
"It's cute," Lois said, "Right?"
"Adorable," Martha agreed.
"If he doesn't keep his hand off her backside I'm getting the shotgun," Jon snorted, not looking up from his whittling.
"He's a nice boy," Martha said, swatting at him, "Don't you dare."
"Martha-"
"No. You let her be sweet on someone. Both of you," she said breaking off to glare at her son. "She's a big girl. She can make her own choices."
"Ma-"
"When she wants your opinion," Martha said, chuckling to herself to see Bruce stopping you from giving him back his Jacket before he left, "She'll tell you what it ought to be and you'll say, yes ma'am, you hear?"
"Ma he's dangerous-"
"And she isn't?" she chuckled, "Who knows what all she has in her head."
"That's probably true," Jon snorted, glancing up to make sure Bruce's hands were still somewhere respectable, shaking his head. "And if her mama was smart, she'd remember Y/N is gonna be picking out the old folks' home-"
"The way Annie drinks?" Martha huffed, "She doesn't need a home she needs to go dry out-"
"How'd you get from implying Y/N could poison him to gossiping about her mom?" Lois asked teasing.
"All I'm saying is thank god for Louise and Stan or that poor kid wouldn't have stood a chance," Martha said.
"She ain't get it from Stan he dropped out in the 8th grade," Jon broke in.
"He was smart enough to know she was smart," Martha said fairly.
"True enough," he conceded, raising a hand to wave as Bruce backed down the driveway to catch a flight home and handle the chaos waiting for him back in Gotham.

maybe rtd's writing for black characters has improved and maybe there are black creators in the writers' room now and if so good for everyone but out of sheer principle i refuse to watch the new run sorry. it could be the best thing in the world and a genuine triumph but i'm forever gonna be 15 years on tumblr dot com in the early 2010s rewatching season 3 and getting more and more teary eyed and frustrated at how martha was treated and looking for gifsets and meta in her tag only to find rose stans crying that martha isn't their pwincess and doesn't deserve ten and calling her bitchy. the master enslaved martha's family and it's barely commented upon!!!! but guys the master died and made ten sad :( and ten called martha a star after a season of treating her like the dirt under his shoe so clearly martha was meant to be Empowering TM. it's all fine and good. anyhow. maybe it's better now. i wouldn't know and i don't want to hear about it. they could have actually given this to a black showrunner instead of bringing back the guy who paired up mickey and martha for literally no fucking reason except that they're both black. fuck rtd fuck the early 2010s doctor who tumblr fandom i will never not be 15 years old and angry over this
#'eli it's been 13 years' I DONT CARE#eli talks#antiblackness#dw#also lost five followers after posting my ten doctor hate post so

10 Characters, 10 Fandoms more
Oh no @pinayelf has tagged me again so I'll have to do another set! :"(
(thank you Ellie! I already did one and I was crying because I left out characters, here it is if you or anyone wants to read it)
Tagging: @aimee-maroux @everythingispoetry @owlask @raflesia65 @morgandarcyarts @sapphireangelbunny @idolsgf @zenstrike @rowanisawriter and YOU!
1. Sir Gawain
We stan a bi king (in the poem he kisses the Lord THRICE. Out of his own will. In another he kisses Lancelot. On his lips.). I love Gawain in any declination, Arthurian cycle, medieval poems, Merlin and the latest movie. I put Dave Patel because visually it's the one that I like the most, but give me a Gawain and I'll like him.
2. Boromir - Lord of the Rings
I spent half my life hating him, then I REALISED. And now he's my sweet pea the apple of my eyes I love him and I'll defend him. Movie kinda did him dirty, but AAAAAH.
3. Beatrice - Much Ado About Nothing
Fiercely loyal sarcastic queen who can and will stand up to herself. I love her. Absolutely flawless.
4. Chrisjen Avasarala - The Expanse
She's everything and I love her more than words can say. Old professional lady cursing like a sailor and speaking her mind clearly. Was very torn between putting her or Ripley in the first batch, but Ripley got precedence out of seniority of my obsession. I couldn't suggest you (anyone you are reading) this show enough, and she is one of the big reasons (she and Bobbie. I love Bobbie <3).
5. Evie Carnahan - the Mummy
She's everything and I will fight for her.
6. Kronk - Emperor's New Groove
I quote this movie more than it would be healthy to do. Yzma comes a close second but it's him.
7. Madalena - Galavant
I stood there 10 minutes trying to decide whether to put her or King Richard. But this single scene was the one that made me fall in love with the show and how it turns tropes around and so yeah. This list was short of villains, furthermore and she is everything, go slay, queen.
8. Jasper Fahey - Grishaverse
As previously stated, you give me a chaotic blorbo with a flair for theatrics and I'm yours forever.
(another fave is Nikolaj, but here goes Jasper because you know. Less tsarism involved.)
9. Martha Jones - Doctor Who
Martha deserved so much better than what the show and the fandom gave her. She's a great character, she's strong and compassionate and kind and honestly she did it right in leaving the Doctor (here's a video essay of a person better informed than me). I am so sorry, but I don't like Rose all that much, particularly in the season with Tennant and I'm on the Justice for Martha squad.
10. Korra - Avatar: the Legend of Korra
I know her show has flaws. But her as a character IS NOT.
Again, I needed to have figures to deconstruct the trope of "strong girl" and she's it. I love her arc and how she needs to deconstruct herself to proceed.
(I love also Tenzin, Tenzin is my favourite and my love, but his character arc is to me slightly less compelling)
(don't ask me to choose just ONE character from ATLA, I can't, I'll stay stuck for two hours trying to decide whom I like best and end up running away screaming because I can't.)
On a book level I must add: Margarita from Master and Margarita. That book is my obsession and the reason I ended up studying russian literature and language. -even if Bulgakov was actually Ukrainian but guess how many people told me so and I won't start here on the subject)

I think the anon is referring to Club Chalamet and Timothee and Kylie lol. She infantilises Timothee like he isn't close to 30 and his dating life. This is in the 1950s. He isn't hiding anything he likes being with Kylie. What if Timothee was gay and dating a man, and CC was along about some conspiracy as to why he's doing that. Not to be rude to Timothee stans but he's just some guy, lol. Most ppl i know are aware he's in Dune and Wonka and don't think more beyond that. It's not like he's like what Leo was back in the day. Pop culture is so fragmented, so a 50-something black woman caring solely on Timothee is funny cause trust me, there are ppl who could care less😭.
I saw a tweet that said Club Chalamet is the reason Timothee doesn't date black women, lol😳. I'm sorry for this dark joke, I'm black as well, but she's so embarrassing for our race. All this for some white dude. Like, I'm a fan of male actors too, but it's never that serious who they date. It was never going to be me. She reminds me of Martha from Baby reindeer.
Oh lawwwd...Is CC on some mess again lol? 😅🤣
Chiiiiiiile... I hope when I get into my 50s that I'm not worrying about some 20-something year old actor and his relationship lol. 😅
To me, most of these Hollywood relationships aren't that serious at all. I hardly care about who most of these people out here date. Every now and then I'll think a celeb couple is "cute" or whatever, but I'm not really invested in their relationship like that.
I guess I'm so used to seeing a lot of these celebrity relationships break up after a while, so I never put too much importance into MOST celebrity romances lol. I like some couples together (like Tomdaya), but with some others I'm just like, "meh" lol. 😅
CC needs to get it together! I would think that she of all people (at her big age) would know that a lot of these relationships shouldn't be taken THAT seriously lol.
Speaking of Timmy & Kylie, they were actually spotted together out in public together recently! LOL 🤭
They were going to see a movie at the Grauman's Chinese Theater.

Abbey, did you notice how the Rose and Ten/Rose hate is getting so strong and persistent lately? It is making me feel uncomfortable, because most of it is rooted in hypocrisy and misogyny. And the same people claiming to adore Nine/Rose while blatantly roasting Rose, and calling her misogynistic slurs… I try not to let this affect me, but I relate to Rose and seeing her constantly being called a "whore", called bland, stupid, clingy and/or unlikeable, reading she was only loved by the Doctor because she’s blonde and white, that she should have died… It’s like I am being attacked myself. It feels awful. :(
Also, most of it comes from either dudebros or Martha stans, especially the ones who ship her with Ten. Like…
hey, nonny! i'm quite sick, so forgive me if this reply isn't as clear as it could be. i am trying to extend grace across the board here, but i'm also on a lot of cold meds, lmao. another disclaimer: i'm not an authority on anything at all in the world.
the long and short of it is that you're right, this is a bunch of gross, misogynistic bullshit you're seeing right now! however, it's not quite accurate to say that this is a thing happening lately.
it wears new faces, but basically since nuwho started airing, people have found reasons to hate rose. people hated that she was uneducated, that she was poor, that she was a teenager, that she had acne, that she had the audacity to grow as a character, that she dressed in a certain way, and oh, did i mention that they really really hated that she was poor and uneducated? a lot of it was thinly-veiled classism (or not veiled at all) mixed with a spattering of misogyny, straight up, and a lot of rose fans were demeaned for their love of her.
seeing these sorts of takes has always been an unfortunate fact of existing in this fandom.
however, it is also important to point out that there was (and still is, i'm sure) a lot of racism baked into this fandom, and into rtd's era in general. i have less direct experience with this, but i am aware overall of the vitriol martha was subject to as a character, how dismissive people were of her being a viable love interest for ten, and it's almost impossible not to see how she was subject to humiliations within the canon of the show that white characters simply were not. i can guess, though i cannot cite any examples myself, that some black fans and fans of color in general have been demeaned and made to feel unwelcome here.
this is, like the above, an awful fact of the fandom and its history.
these are not necessarily equivalent. but they're both realities.
SO, cut to now. you have a fandom that has undergone several cataclysmic shifts, has imploded, has turned on itself dozens of times before. there are people who care about rose and are understandably defensive of her. there are people who care about martha and are understandably defensive of her. there are people who hate them both. there are plenty of people (like myself) who love both characters, who have nuanced reads of them. you have people who maybe ship one pairing or the other but not at cost of either rose or martha. you have multishippers. maybe some of us even ship martha and rose with each other, because we're cool and sexy and love women.
but then there are shit-stirrers. there are people sending hate to real living human beings in what they perceive as defense of their faves. there are users misrepresenting themselves as fans of anything when they are, in fact, just attention-starved, brain-poisoned lonely people.
and their shit ass takes are, i'm sorry to say, an unfortunate fact of this fandom.
they are not, however, representative of the majority of ninerose fans or tenmartha fans. the people bullying uninvolved ninerose bloggers? they are not representative of the majority of tenrose fans.
they're not representative of anything but their own misery.
the fact is, there are so many ways to be a fan of this stupid space show, so many ways of engaging in fandom, and some people have just chosen to be cruel, misogynistic, racist, classist, or some combination of the former. they've chosen to be unoriginal, hateful bullies, which is sad and sometimes very hurtful, because it's a huge disservice to both the material, the people who made it, and the people who enjoy it.
but!! there is an upside, i think, which is that we can make our spaces kinder if we curate them well. it's down to us to report harassment and to block people who make tumblr toxic. it is down to us to reblog the art and stories and meta and gifs that bring us joy, or that we feel add depth and meaning to the show. and it is essential!! that we remember we are here voluntarily. if fandom isn't fun anymore, if it makes us feel bad about ourselves, it often means it's time to step back and find our footing again. to unfollow some people, follow some new people. to try to connect with the people we do like and follow in a more personal way. to find the people in our personal lives who make us feel safe and tell them what's going on.
i'm sorry for what you're feeling, nonny. you're not the only one. <3 don't be ashamed if you feel you need support from irl friends/mutuals/etc.
i don't know how long you've been a part of the fandom, but as someone who has been around for 5 years and who has friends who have been here for twice, even three times that long, just know that there are plenty of good people around if you look for them.
#SORRY FOR THE LITERAL ESSAY. I JUST HAVE A LOT OF THOUGHTS#also nonny i hope you have/find your people who make you feel safe and who make fandom fun for you <3#anyway....... tagging this as#discourse#just in case!#abbey.txt#dw#long post

on something something anon here :DD
-On regency au Jayara
YOU YOU YOU YOU!!!! HOW DARE YOU DO THIS TO ME, I'M GOING INSANE, I'M GOING CRAZY OVER THEM
I've always been a massive fan of royalty love stories for some unknown reason and it imagining these two with that aesthetic makes me go wild, one of my fav stories ever is Cinderella (1950), mainly because the aesthetic is just right!! (mostly it's because I love Cinderella, she deserves the word, my silly willy girl)
Jason hating Yara is funny as hell, this is princess swan on reverse because 1. Jason isn't a cunt who only appreciates women for their beauty, thus he doesn't need that lesson, and 2. They never truly stop hating each other.
their bickering starts loud and iconically, I mean, you can't not go down in history as a badass when you are Yara Flor, the girl who slapped Jason Wayne so hard he went flying through an entire ballroom and hit the biggest bush of flowers, Jason spent the rest of the week spitting flower petals, mostly at her.
Yara deserves to resemble Princess Jasmine (from Alladin) solely because instead of a tiger it's her horse who keeps scaring people away, despite his goofy face. Ironically enough, the moment Jerry and Jason meet they hit off immediately. (Martha was there with them when that happened and in the distance, she could hear Thomas screaming that was a sign he was correct!! they're made for each other)
But it's that delicate soft lonely feeling of silently dancing together in a ballroom that starts to change things (<- delusional Cinderella stan dumbassery)
Bruce always told Jason that if you want people to love you have to love them first, Love them harder, do it dearly, and do it because you care, not because you must. It's hard to understand someone so different as Yara, but he knows that uncomfortable when you have to practice dancing while people are watching, and you're bad at it. So he asks their teacher to let them dance together, alone, and he's whispering to Yara she's doing great because out of the two of them, he's the one who fell on his butt twice. (Yara learned that day it's very hard not to blush when there's a deep voice in your ear calmly telling you're good, you're great at this and you don't need to shy away. She wishes he would have said more)
my god, I have to draw them RIGHT NOW
(I don't want to make this ask bonkers long I'll come back for more later >:3)
YOU'RE GOING INSANE? IM GOING INSANE!!! oh anon how you've blessed me. Bewitched me body and soul.
Yara wasn't forged for grace; she's better with a sword than with a fork. She can't tame her reckless tongue, or her crude jokes, or her atrocious table manners.
She's not dainty and sharp and quietly powerful like one of Jason's paper fantasies;
There's admiration for them, a respect, a desire to see them succeed and flourish, especially when he talks of them with so much passion and fire, but that'll never be her.
She's always been too much; Too loud, too hot headed, too opinionated, too strong-headed, too much like Her to be anything even close to good. She's not poetry.
She's flesh and attitude and stubbornness and she knows, like a truth for the ages, that Jason Todd wouldn't marry her if Cupid shot him twice.
But when they dance together, when big hands carve a perfect hold on her hips, when clever fingers mold her frame almost possessively, Yara thinks, for someone that can't stand her, he sure doesn't touch her like it.
For someone that can't stand her, he's so quick to her side when another lord makes a flirty comment to her.
He's quick to say "disrespect my wife again, and I'll show you war" when lord Luthor won't take her strategic advice because she's young and has no cock for him to measure with.
"Do you think I'd have a bigger cock than him thought?"
Jason braids her hair (he's the only one allowed to touch it) and doesn't even need a second, "Of course"
But is she better? Is she above loudly correcting someone when they say poetry and writing are futile skills and Jason's the one wayne man who won't amount to anything? When she bites his neck so the next time high ladies have something to look at? When she defends his honor? No. Yara isnt
In conclusion; They're idiots in love your honor

imagine saying that “rtd made rose the specialest of companions” simply for bringing her back to the show or because the doctor loved her romantically. when donna noble’s right there, and she’s textually called “the most important woman of the universe”. moffat even made twelve choose their face because of donna. and now she’s coming back and it’s even implied that they’re soulmates, always finding their way back to each other. yet i don’t see y’all batting a fucking eye when she’s treated both by the show or fandom the most iconic or important companion. or clara, since moffat split her throughout the doctor’s entire timeline and made her his only ever “equal” like. bet y’all think rose tyler stans hate on martha to this day as well, when in the reality is the entire opposite lol stop living in fucking 2012.
I didn't say that though, the anon did, and I never agreed. I just said I also found Rose annoying and don't like when fans treat her as the most important person to the Doctor (which happens with other characters too, including Clara, the Master, Yaz, Jamie, River, etc. and it annoys me every single time because I think it's entirely unnecessary to pit the characters or their relationship with the Doctor against each other like that; they're all important in different ways at different times).
It's interesting that you mention Donna in particular, because if I didn't already love her character I would be sick of her by now because there is a subset of fandom that treats her like the she's unarguably the definitive companion and that her season was the pinnacle of Doctor Who. The reason I'm more irritated by Rose is that I just wasn't into Rose to begin with, whereas I always liked Donna.
(Also, you know a lot of people hated Clara for being "too important" right? One of the biggest complaints at the time was that the show was turning into "Clara Who", which isn't something I agree with, but people definitely were batting an eye.)
Anyway, I don't have any objection to people shipping Doctor/Rose and I don't hate the character. I'm just not into her and find her annoying sometimes. It's not that deep lol
#like... I also think Jamie is overrated and find Two/Jamie shippers annoying#it's not because I think there's anything inherently bad or problematic about them sometimes you just don't like things y'know?#Replies#Anon#Ranger shut up about Doctor Who

Ranking the Books I read in 2022
I feel really good about my bottom two and top four, but some of the middle ones may be more smushed. Also if my Goodreads stars don't always seem to line up with my rankings, it's because I reserve the right to change my mind at any time.
26. The Cabin at the End of the World by Paul Tremblay. Date reviewed: Jan. 25, 2022 Goodreads stars I gave it: 3 (apparently i averaged it bc i thought the writing was good, though now i can't remember why) 1-sentence review: Every time I read a thriller, I'm like Jason Bateman pulling the bag labelled dead dove out the freezer, looking at it, and going, "I don't know what I expected."
25. Royal Diaries: Isabel: Jewel of Castilla by Carolyn Meyer Date reviewed: Jan. 11, 2022 Goodreads stars I gave it: 3, but 2.5 were for Beatriz de Bombadilla 1-sentence reivew: Isabel is insufferable and I want a biography about Beatriz de Bombadilla.
24. Love, Hate, and Clickbait by Liz Bowery Date reviewed: Nov. 9, 2022 Goodreads stars I gave it: 3 1-sentence review: The characters are terrible but it's still a good way to pass election night.
23. A Marvellous Light by Freya Marske Date reviewed: June 2, 2022 Goodreads stars I gave it: 3 1-sentence review: Main couple great, sex scnes are steamy, plot reasonably creative, but overall moves slowly and most of the side characters are terrible.
22. Beyond the Wand: The Magic and Mayhem of Growing Up a Wizard by Tom Felton Date reviewed: Nov. 8, 2022 Goodreads stars I gave it: 3 1-sentence review: Hollywood is TOXIC and I hope Tom's living his best life in England with his brothers and his dog.
21: The Woman Who Would Be King by Kara Cooney Date reviewed: March 1, 2022 Goodreads stars I gave it: 3 1-sentence review: Hatshepsut was a boss, but Cooney's writing style could be livelier.
20. Thunder Dog: The True Story of a Blind Man, His Guide Dog, and the Triumph of Trust at Ground Zero by Michael Hingson Date reviewed: Sept. 27, 2022 Goodreads stars I gave it: 4 (was probably generous) 1-sentence review: Super interesting memoir that taught me way more about blindness and guide dogs than about 9/11 (which is fine).
19. Husband Material by Alexis Hall Date reviewed: Aug. 16, 2022 Goodreads stars I gave it: 3 1-sentence review: Same hilarity, more emotional maturity, but Luc and Oliver didn't seem happy with each other's friends and somewhat traitorously (because I know this is the exact OPPOSITE of the point of the book) I kind of wish they'd gotten married.
18. Hook, Line, and Sinker by Tessa Bailey Date reviewed: April 20, 2022 Goodreads stars I gave it: 3 1-sentence review: We stan one leading lady. (Dude was ... fine I guess.)
17. Graphic Classics Romeo and Julie by Gareth Hinds Date reviewed: Oct. 25, 2022 Goodread stars I gave it: 4 1-sentence review: Turns out graphic novels are a good way to read Shakespeare plays.
16: Four Queens: The Provencal Sisters Who Ruled Europe by Nancy Goldstone Date reviewed: March 15, 2022 Goodreads stars I gave it: 3 1-sentence review: Goldstone's historical writing is great as always, but she should have written about French queen Blanche of Castile instead.
15. Boyfriend Material by Alexis Hall Date reviewed: April 25, 2022 Goodreads stars I gave it: 4 1-sentence review: Here's to the book that made me silent-laugh so hard in a restaurant that I had to put my mask back on to keep the other customers from staring at me.
14. If the Shoe Fits by Julie Murphy Date reviewed: April 22, 2022 Goodreads stars I gave it: 4 1-sentence review: Adored everything except the love interest, who seemed to have misplaced his personality.
13. To Marry and to Meddle by Martha Waters (audio book) Date reviewed: May 5, 2022 Goodreads stars I gave it: 4 1-sentence review: My favorite so far of the Regency Vows series and I didn't even get embarassed listening to an actor read the sex scenes aloud. (admittedly i was alone in my car, but still)
12. Delilah Green Doesn't Care by Ashley Herring Blake Date reviewed: June 21, 2022 Goodreads stars I gave it: 4 1-sentence review: A lovely little w/w romance with great supporting characters and a fantastic sister-subplot that was arguably as engaging as the love story.
11. Lore Olympus Volume 1 by Rachel Smythe Date reviewed: Jan. 24, 2022 Goodreads stars I gave it: 3 1-sentence review: Greek mythology and breathtaking artwork -- what's not to love?
10. The Bear and the Nightingale by Katherine Arden Date reviewed: Aug. 10, 2022 Goodreads stars I gave it: 4 1-sentence reivew: If you're like me and you love dark, eerie fairy tales, then this is the book for you.
9. The Bodyguard by Katherine Center Date reviewed: July 27, 2022 Goodreads stars I gave it: 3 1-sentence reivew: I liked Wilbur and corgi-breeding stalker better than I liked Robby, which I think is what God and Katherine Center intended.
8. I Kissed Shara Wheeler by Casey McQuiston Date reviewed: Sept. 16, 2022 Goodreads stars I gave it: 4 1-sentence review: What starts out as a seeming scathing take-down of certain John Green novels with shades of gay Mean Girls thrown in turns into something completely unexpected and wonderful and warm and welcoming.
7. Royal Diaries: Cleopatra: Daughter of the Nile by Kristiana Gregory Date reviewed: Jan. 19, 2022 Goodreads stars I gave it: 4 1-sentence review: Yes, I am being indulgent ranking this so high, but she has a pet leopard and insults Roman officials in their own language.
6. Cultish: The Language of Fanaticism by Amanda Montell Date reviewed: Sept. 23, 2022 Goodreads stars I gave it: 4 1-sentence review: A thoughtful and engaging take on how language shapes cultures within communities, with sometimes insidious intent.
5. Book Lovers by Emily Henry Date reviewed: July 23, 2022 Goodreads stars I gave it: 4 1-sentence review: Hallmark villains in love with NYC to the point of delusion make the best protagonists.
4. The Very Secret Society of Irregular Witches by Sangu Mandanna Date reviewed: Sept. 23, 2022 Goodreads stars I gave it: 4 1-sentence review: Reading this is like walking into a sunlit room on a Sunday morning. (Note: I actually switched this to rank above Book Lovers, which is a VERY big deal for me because I love Emily Henry.)
3. Signal Moon by Kate Quinn Date reviewed: Aug. 20, 2022 Goodreads stars I gave it: 4 1-sentence review: Combining World War II AND time travel (sort of) is like hitting all my tragic romance buttons at once.
2. The Diamond Eye by Kate Quinn Date reviewed: June 16, 2022 (I don't think GR has this right -- I got an advanced copy and reviewed it not long after reading it. I posted a review on Facebook on Feb. 28, 2022) Goodreads stars I gave it: 5 1-sentence review: Amazing writing, a bombshell of a heroine, and a story that makes me see, smell and hear the Eastern front -- I'm not kidding when I say this is Quinn's best book so far. (Note: I wrote that line when I hadn't read No. 1 on the list yet.)
and finally....
The Rose Code by Kate Quinn Date reviewed: July 4, 2022 Goodreads stars I gave it: 5 Entire review because I have no self-control:
Earlier this year, I said I thought The Diamond Eye may be Kate Quinn's best book. I am revising my opinion. THIS may be Kate Quinn's best book. I read it in one day, basically didn't put it down except to do work. I think the last time I did something like that, I was reading Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince the day it came out. And I was 13.
The Rose Code has all the usual Kate Quinn Hallmarks -- great heroines, wartime stakes, swoonworthy love interests, engaging side characters, and cameos from real life historical figures (in this case folks like Alan Turing and Winston Churchill, plus a snide reference about Ian Fleming's womanizing) -- while also having a tighter story (unlike in, say, The Huntress, Quinn isn't having to juggle multiple flashbacks in this book) and what I felt was a slightly less over-the-top climax though ... it was still pretty over-the-top. I think by the time I got to it I was just in a jubilant state.
Anyway, just read this book.
Also, for a spoiler that will make you happy (but is a spoiler nonetheless) ... yes, Beth reunites with the dog.

i love rose tyler. i wanna marry her. she's my little sweetheart<3
but know what guys??? I DON'T HATE MARTHA JONES
martha is one of the smartest companions the doctor has ever had. she was a REAL doctor and travelled around with someone who unfairly always putted her down
she got threated badly through the whole series, she got racistic comments and the doctor just missed rose and made martha feel as if she wasn't good enough. there was always comments like: "rose should have known" or "when me and rose..." and it was annoying for us who watched, and really, really unfair to martha. we wanted a new companion, althought we missed rose, as we miss everyone. we got someone who didn't got a real chance
i love rose. i do. she's my absolute fave. but i don't like the opinion that many rose stans have, that if you love rose, you hate martha. seriously guys, you don't have to choose.
my thought is that if you don't like a companion, you should have a reason. like: "they are annoying BECAUSE..." or "i don't like them "BECAUSE..." not "i don't like her because i like another more."
martha went around the world to save her friends, and noone even got to know about it. she got married and got a good, cool, job, and was fine without the tardis and the doctor.
she was also always open the possibility that she could leave him anytime, if that was the best for herself. that's cool, and very very strong of her. timetravells in space is nothing you just leave
martha jones was a real doctor. she was clever. she was strong. she cared about herself a lot. she cared about her friends a lot. i love her so much<3

Joan d'arc because of course, Saint Nicolas (source of one of my favorite Saint trivias), My Girl Margaret of Scotland, St. Sebastian if he hasn't been recced already because of his gay penetration moments, Saint Martha (Tarrasque tamer), Mary Magdalene (because she deserves better), St. Olga (gotta stan a homidical queen) Lydia of Thyatira (I'm a girlboss Lydia truther), and St. Paul I guess
I'm not Catholic but I had some based pastors and Sunday School teachers who talked about some of the various saints and I have opinions about some of the women in the Bible. Also she's not a saint but shoutout to my girl Jael.
Votes added for St Joan of Arc, St Nicholas, St Sebastian, St Martha, St Mary Magdalene, and St Olga!
NEW entries created for St Margaret of Scotland, St Lydia, and St Paul (WHO I CANNOT BELIEVE DIDN'T HAVE A SINGLE VOTE UNTIL NOW). If you want these three to make it to a bracket, you'll need to send in votes and propaganda!
Also for those wondering about St. Sebastian and his connection as an LGBTQ+ icon, read this.

okok willy clarke all prompts? (numbers, questions? idk)
[email protected] love you both so much (/platonic) ;_; 💞
1: sexuality headcanon
okay i actually do have a solid headcanon for this character for once--he's asexual and you CANNOT change my mind!!--it's, uh. his romantic orientation i keep flipflopping on KLFJDKF. specifically i keep going between aro will and bi/pan will......also ace lesbian william lives in my head rent free because my toxic trait is looking at male characters and going "that could be a lesbian!" ahglkjdsf but yeah he's ace for SURE you can't tell me otherwise lmao
2: otp
not even gonna lie to y'all i really do think it's will/tanya HGLKDSJF something about them has carved out a space in my brain permanently. also will/tanya/mike is REALLY good and i care them so much :') .....i also wanna give a shoutout here to will/regina which was a rarepair that got out of hand and is now genuinely a ship i'm lowkey passionate about ghkljKDF. i wouldn't call them an otp necessarily but.....cradles themin my hands. i care them
3: brotp
can i say basically everyone in this damn game.....? give this boy some FRIENDS oh my go d if i had to choose though i want him and lila to be friends i want her to genuinely care about him and i will Force Her To no matter the cost HGLDJSF. also me being my aro self who enjoys platonic versions of my otps, i'll say i also adore him in brotps with tanya and mike, especially in fix it aus ;v; also, him regina and jimmy as a goofy friends trio who spend more time together than expected has been in my head rent FREE lately lmao
4: notp
there aren't a lot of super popular ships in this fandom, so keeping in my rules about notps being relatively well known ships and not just a crack ship i pulled out of my ass for the sake of hating it....tbh, i'm not a huge fan of him and martha together as a ship? idk why, it seems cute, and it's definitely not a dealbreaker for me when it comes to fics, but it just doesn't click for me for some reason. i kinda wish it did, i know it's a fan favorite :') tbh now that i think about it it's kinda one of those ships i really only feel things for in the context of polyamorous ships with other characters involved HGKFDJSFLK
5: first headcanon that pops into my head
not to be on my bullshit again but age regressor will is so real in my head he's. he's little guy ;_; that feels like cheating because i headcanon every character i love as a regressor but LISTEN ahgkdsj.....he needs to be taken care of he really does he deserves it--
6: favorite line from this character
i have a couple nominees: him saying in his diary that he still loves lila despite her scaring him because holy shit it breaks my heart that little speech he gives to tanya about how she's not the center of the world and how he and her friends do want to be there for her (we stan a king who can read her to filth LMAO) him confessing to lila's murder in the strength ending because it breaks my HEART he deserves the WORLD him asking martha if she needs anything while she's drunk out of her mind.....him just generally trying to help her in that scene tbh. he's such a sweet boy bwahhh
7: one way in which I relate to this character
me 🤝 william being neurodivergents with bad moms :') i'm sure there's more i could think of tbh based solely on the neurodivergent thing but those are the biggest ones HFLKDSJF
8: thing that gives me second hand embarrassment about this character
this is less about him specifically but i watched manlybadasshero's playthrough of this game and some of the expressions he gave him are hard for me to look at idk why adkfjKLDJF 😭 for a more real answer though, it's also a little hard to watch him at the party at points but, like.....tbh i found that whole scene more charming than anything. he's a sweet boy and he's TRYING okay :')
9: cinnamon roll or problematic fave?
i already answered this one but for the sake of completionism he's my littlest cinnamon roll. my little guy. he's certified baby <3
#btw anon i'm CRYING at willy clarke abgladsknfjlkj#man i wrote a lot for a lot of these questions......believe it or not i had to struggle not to write more HLKGDJSF#also uh. idc if it may or may not have been implied will and tanya had sex. it's ambiguous and also ace people can have sex. he's ACE#this changes NOTHING for me ghlkdsjf#anyway thank you both for letting me talk about my baby ily :')#who's lila#william clarke#marshy gets asks#anonymous#yanderesoulmate

OH MY GOD YOU'VE SEEN THE SHOW!!!!!!! IVE BEEN SUFFERING ALONE!!! The absolute agony and heartbreak I experienced during that finale. Cried for the entire 67 minutes. Nearly threw up. Cried all night and fully was bursting into tears about them for like 3 days after i finished. philip and elizabeth are EVERYTHING!!! he loved her so goddamn much and she loved him so goddamn much and that fucking finale!! henry cant come with us and stan letting them leave the garage and paige getting off the train and stan quietly saying i;m gonna kill him even though he already let them go and MAYBE WE WOULD'VE MET. ON A BUS. THEY'LL REMEMBER US. THEY'RE NOT KIDS ANYMORE. WE RAISED THEM. YES. IM CRYING LITERALLY SENDING THIS MESSAGE IT STILL GETS ME and no emmys for keri or noah or alison wright?? just nonsensical
OH NO! I wish I knew you were watching, I'd have loved to be the receiver of screams and I'd have supported you through THE pain. I'm a huge fan of the show, I have it all in my hard drive. I won't let any streaming service keep it away from me lmao.
I think you and I had the same reaction to the finale, I was A MESS (still am). I kept talking about it for weeks to my family, tbh they never watched the show but knew all about it because every week I'd take them hostage and make them listen to me gushing about it hehe
THAT FINALE! Like like they lived, they are together, they escaped and YET!!! It's all SO SAD! The sound Elizabeth does when she realizes Philip is right about leaving Henry behind??? It's seared in my mind, it haunts me to this day. THE GARAGE SCENE! *cheff kiss* the way Stan starts addressing only Page to break her alksdjf, "You were my best friend" "Renee might be one of us" JESUS!! Also the top comedy of Elizabeth being offended about the statement that they killed people, I still laugh about it. I started giffing it all!!! And for reasons outside my power couldn't finish BUT I STILL HAVE THE PS FILE SAVED BECAUSE ONE DAY I'LL DO IT!
Fun fact, when the finale aired I was not a fan that they chose With Or Without You for the train scene. I like the song but at the moment I felt I didn't help to deliver the punch (not that it needed any help), it's been 6 years now and every time I hear the song it fucking breaks me lmao
KERI NEVER GETTING AN AWARD IS MY VILLAIN ORIGIN STORY. I GET SO MAD THINKING ABOUT IT. FREAKING RIDICULOUS
Also I love that you mentioned Alison Wright, SHE'S SO GOOD I LOVE HER and used to think A LOT about Martha's life in Russia alskjdfaf and and daydreamed scenarios of she running into them at some point, fun times.
#I'm going to stop myself because I could go on and on#what a show man#thelillykane#the americans#night replies#(nightmade)#thank you for writing to me about it#I love to talk about my tragic russian parents

It's Never Too Late To Pursue Your Passions
In the pandemic, I have spent my time trying to motivate, not to do better and putting one foot in front of the other has been difficult. Living with trauma is difficult. It's why I got into writing. Writing has become my passion.
Growth is a process
It’s rare for anyone to be satisfied with where they are, there will always be things we think we could have done better that grate at us, but growth is a process, it’s not a state of being. As we live, we evolve, we change and can always start on the things we fail to do.
My backstory
It irks me that it took me until 46 to learn about a disability I didn’t know I had, 47 when I started The CP Diary. I was 56 when I started writing my first book Cerebral Palsy: 'A Story' and 60 when I finished my third book Survival: The Covid Years, but the flip side is I may not have managed any of what I have achieved, so I need to cut myself some slack on the timing.
I’m in good company, it turns out that:
Stan Lee didn’t write a hit comic until he was almost 39
Toni Morrison wrote her first novel at 40, won a Pulitzer Prize at 56, and won her Nobel Prize at age 62
Julia child didn’t publish her first cookbook until she was 50
Martha Stewart didn’t publish her first cookbook until she was 41
Betty White didn’t become famous until she was 51
Not everyone has their lives figured out
Not everyone has their lives figured out and that's okay. Through my passion, I'm a different person now.
Writing makes me happy, it brings me a lifetime of understanding on years of trauma. It was important I understood my trauma, it was important I understood my life.
