I had a dream that buffy died by being impaled on a sword during some big battle, and her spirit leaped out of her body and looked like a giant orange tiger made of flames. and spike was so devastated he followed her, and he also had a spirit for some reason and his was a lithe blue buck made of stars. and then their spirits intertwined as tiger-buffy pulled them up towards the heavens together. idk what any of this means but it was pretty cool

Judging from these panels, would it mean that there's no other yorishima exorcist that's still alive (since natori said that the yorishima family "was once" a big name, past tense) in the canon timeline, and that the yorishima we know probably ended his family's exorcism business for good by retiring himself? If so, was the reason tied to the youkai living in his left arm, or is there another cause? And when exactly did he retire— was it before or during seiji and shuuichi's high school days, which was why his left arm appeared with the thick bandages when he gave them the loquats in the anime, but he still lived in the estate during that time, or was it after the two became legal adults, which lined up somewhat with him moving into his forest home, abandoning his family estate in favor of living in isolation?

And, speaking of retirement, I wonder if we'll ever know why midorikawa told us that the takis were "famous" (which presumedly meant they were strong enough to be well-known) as occult diviners, since tooru herself only ever mentioned what their previous family business entails, and never about their status in the exorcism community? We don't really need this extra bit if she wanted to further establish how tooru has an aptitude for spell-casting, either. Again, there's another "strong" family (whose members are still alive in canon) that went into retirement, but did the taki family lost their power because the ability to see (if they were needed for diviners) disappeared for at least the last three generations (if we assumed that tooru and isamu's parents couldn't see youkai too), or was it due to another reason? How close was shinichiro (tooru and isamu's grandpa) to the matobas that even the current clan head came to pay his respects during his sixth death anniversary; was his relationship with seiji's father strictly resolved around exorcism business, or was anything else involved? Does tooru herself doesn't fully understand the prowess her family once had, hence why seiji was the one who told takashi (and us readers) about it? What would this tiny bit of lore mean for tooru with it revealed this late into the manga, when tooru herself only talked sparsely about her ancestors in previous chapters?

that's a great question tho! I have indeed thought about writing a fic... for years tbh...

but there's a merit of problems

well first of all I'm not native in english. that is probably noticeable more often than not. I sometimes even use a translator, I always secretly got google/dict.cc open in a second tab. didn't formally learn english, I just snagged it by proxy listening to American Youtubers and reading manga online. that's why I prefer to ramble a bit in public or to my damn self in private areas than live-texting 1 on 1/in groups; bc I can take more time totally judgement-free. you're gonna see me "typing..." for 30 minutes and wonder wtf is taking this mf so long?!

apart from that there's dyslexia. I can't spell one word correctly without swipe-to-type autocorrect. I think all arguments I've gotten into stem from me mistyping, using completely wrong words, messing up the sentence structure etc

my brain is a single dense cloud of fog that'll occasionally split open to drizzle down a bunch of jumbled thoughts that I could turn into barely cohesive words if I'm brave enough and exude copious amounts of energy.

so my linguistic skills are not up to par. my intelligence lies more in... intrapersonal and existential departments.

unsurprisingly I've thus become a visual artist to express myself.

the catch is... that I understand paperhat, I do.

but I can't seem to draw toxic dynamics. my head is just empty about how to depict it. it's like it doesn't come naturally to me. not without going overboard and making a whole comic that I would likely abandon before even reaching the half mark. I've been given these angelic skills along with the curse that I shall only draw joyous, bright scenes.

however if I could write it... now we're talking.

as a matter of fact, I'm pretty sure that most of my ideas are way too dark and sober. people don't know me like that so I'm petrified about the presumably shocked response when and if I did drop smth like that.

I'm not ready for that... I have really severe OCD (that the internet is making way worse with their anxious tendencies to interpret smth sinister into any and all fiction that is not happiness and rainbows. which seems new to me, idk where this mindset to read so deep into shit is suddenly coming from. I was here 2017-19, left for like 3 years and all of a sudden everybody's fallen off their rockers)

writing domestic stuff is too boring for me... there's gotta be gut-wrenching horrors and drama and tragedy and conflict!

none of this would be PG (which is what I assume you're asking for anyway) I'd just write smut with sprinkles of character studies and a pinch of comedy mayhaps, but I used to do that about 10 years ago and it was so bad. the way I describe these scenes comes off very plump and cringe

I think it's so interesting how little we are given in terms of descriptions of the characters' physical appearances in Pride and Prejudice, and yet countless readers have nonetheless formed very decided opinions about what each character might look like. For example, dark-haired Mr Darcy, blonde Jane and brunette Elizabeth.

Perhaps the ideas we hold about what the characters might look like are reinforced by some of the most famous adaptations (although the 1940 adaptation has a blonde Elizabeth and brunette Jane!)

The way we variously imagine Mr Darcy is a matter I find especially intriguing, given the only description of him in terms of physical appearance is:

'Mr Darcy soon drew the attention of the room by his fine, tall person, handsome features, noble mien*...' * a person's appearance, especially the typical expression on their face (x)

But is then said that, after discovering the extent of his wealth and consequently being biased in favour of him, the ladies pronounced him as a 'fine figure of a man' who was 'much handsomer than Mr Bingley.' However, both of these descriptions are quickly retracted when his manners provoke disgust, and he is then said to have:

'... a most forbidding, disagreeable countenance, and being unworthy to be compared with his friend.' (i.e. less handsome than Bingley)

Apart from these descriptions in the third chapter, Mr Darcy's appearance is largely left up to the reader's imagination; with a few exceptions when his expressions are described (such as when encountering Wickham and during the first proposal in Kent). Perhaps that's what makes him such an enduring character... he's tall, handsome, rich and holds himself in a noble manner, from there go ahead and project whatever you want! That's pretty appealing.

Although I enjoy many onscreen interpretations of Mr Darcy (with my personal favourite thus far being 1995) I still imagine him differently when I read the book. For me, 1995!Darcy and book!Darcy are two different entities entirely. I don't picture Colin Firth in my head or hear the lines in his voice when I read the novel. (I still largely love the portrayal of Darcy in the 1995 adaptation; although I wish some scenes were ever so slightly different, but Colin Firth looks so good while doing it that I find it easy to forgive him!!)

To me, book!Darcy is a lot smilier when he speaks to Elizabeth than 1995!Darcy; plus I feel like he has quite a soft, deep voice (though he can make it plenty powerful and full of haughtiness when he wants to) with a rich tone. My Darcy is also at least 7ft tall, and has a slightly more colourful wardrobe with some nice deep blues and rich reds in there. I am fully onboard with him having curls, that works for me... but I also like to imagine him with lighter eyes (perhaps green) and more freckles too, for some reason! Perhaps because I imagine he enjoys spending time outdoors.

Anyway, I don't think there is any one thing that has made Darcy so appealing to so many people over the centuries, he's kind of a perfect storm; nor do I think there is any inherently 'right' or 'wrong' way to imagine him.

Let your imagination run wild, it's what Jane Austen would've wanted :)

Does anyone else ever think about the "when i met him he was a scared little boy in a jail cell" part of the he's my boy speech. I don't need him he needs me because I am his foundation. He was nothing before he met me. I built him from the ground up and will be damned if anybody gets in the way of his growth. I love the mix of possessiveness and pride throughout that whole speech.

Hello! I just discovered your blog and I immediately became captivated by your webcomic, but I'm unsure where to read all of it. I know it's on Webtoons, but I can see it hasn't been updated for a while, and you still post about it.

Are your physical novels just prints of the webcomic? Are they a continuation? Is the story complete? Thanks in advance!

Glad you found me and are enjoying my comic!

It's only on webtoons, and the story is not complete yet! We're 2/3 of the way through right now. It's currently on hiatus, and it's scheduled to come back in about 2 months!

I'll explain why it's been so long if you're curious, but also for my followers who might also be wondering about it under the cut. Sorry, it's pretty much just me complaining haha

I took a month off I took 2 months to get the books printed I took a month to prepare my next comic and I took 2 months to write the rest of the series (I knew the character arcs I wanted, but not the time periods or mysteries!!!) I've been working on actual episodes since then

I had to take some time off because of some pretty extreme burnout due to the sheer amount of work it was to draw over 800 pages and write 6 complete stories in a year and a half... I was getting sick almost weekly due to the overwork, it was really really bad honestly. I was having to work 60+ hours every week just to keep up...

The nature of the comic itself is also difficult... Each of the arcs is a complete, self contained story which can be read (ideally) without context, and my arcs need to be about 10-13 episodes each... And since I have an exact number of episodes to work with, it's even harder.

It takes a ton of planning and a ton of refinement, and working week to week with no breaks I was forced to put out second or even first drafts, so I just wasn't happy with the work I was doing... And to do that for the rest of the series? I wouldn't be proud of the work I did.

Plus... To be entirely honest, webtoon has treated me quite badly IN MY OPINION... They deprioritized me before I launched (I had to beg for more promotion, I'm not exaggerating), they outright denied me the opportunity to even ask for a raise, I don't make any money on fast pass and they pay me less than my partner makes working at trader joes. My first editor left me completely hanging, my second editor (who I loved) was fired... And they told me I wouldn't get a third season before my first season even finished. So it was just repeatedly completely demoralizing.

I'm sorry it has taken so long, it'll have been 10 months by the time I come back. But I realized... I won't get promotion either way. I won't get more episodes either way. I won't get more money either way. So to finish everything, to make it feel good, to make it something I'm proud of, I chose to take longer to make it better.

I am fully aware I will lose a significant amount of my readership for this and it might genuinely affect my career moving forward. But it's what I had to do! So I'm sticking to my guns on it, and I'm confident long term it'll be worth it. It never could have been this good if I didn't take this much time.
