Chapter 426 crushed me.
This manga has really been torture porn over (often disabled) abuse victims, children, teenagers and young adults from the start.
I'm really tired of the latent ableism and the pro-prison / retributive justice defended by this manga. It has been like this from the half of the story honestly.
I still had small hopes that the younger heroes would fight for a rehabilitative justice, be more anti-system. But as seen in the last chapters, the author decided otherwise.
A lot of people are following me for DabiHawks content and honestly I think High Time may be my last DabiHawks work ? I will obviously finish the story and I love this alternative reality where they are alive and out of the system.
The character of Hawks in canon is more and more despicable to me, and even if I enjoyed this ship at its best moment (beginning of the Paranormal Liberation Front, before the death of Twice), I feel more and more sad and uncomfortable about creating content of these characters together...
My MHA work has always been Dabi-centric, and I think I will need to draw a lot of League Of Villain art to exorcize the negative vibes this manga left in my heart.
Anyway, these are a lot of words just to say that High Time will probably be my last DabiHawks work. I am deeply disappointed with the treatment of the abused / disabled / criminal characters in MHA (this has been for years honestly). Hawks becoming the head of the Policeβ’ really was my 13th reason.
Take care, it's ok to still enjoy this ship (who am I to blame anyone ???), I think I might still bittersweetly enjoy works about them, but I'm not sure to be personally capable to CREATE about them, for now. I won't delete any of my work or anything π«Άπ»
I'm waiting the end of the manga to book a tattoo session to have Dabi permanently drawn on my skin π«Άπ»ππ

At this point, my hopes for the ending of MHA have been completely destroyed. I expected this but was still desperately hoping for something more.
I hate how some of the most abused characters in the series had depressing as fuck endings. Many fans saw that abuse and empathized with it. Saw themselves in the League of Villains and was hoping that, even if they were going to die, their deaths would have MEANING or at least given the time they deserved.
I hate the black and white thinking on morality and views of criminals and crime. That's one of the biggest gripes I have with this series. Life simply doesn't work that way. There's little to no nuance and it drives me crazy that Horikoshi portrayed it like that.
I hate that important characters didn't get the time/energy dedicated to their stories that they deserved and fans weren't given satisfying endings/closure that they needed. Why the fuck do we get to see Overhaul's closure and not Tomura's? Why the fuck do we get to see that stupid grandma get a chance at redemption but not Tomura's? Why the fuck did Horikoshi set up so many great parallels for Izuku and Tomura and drop so many hints at a better ending and yet they didn't get to talk or interact in a satisfying way AT ALL? And we're somehow told that he was saved off-screen by Nana Shimura? ARE YOU KIDDING ME?
There is SO. MUCH. LOST. POTENTIAL in this series! The series is great but one of biggest issues I have is how Horikoshi fumbled the ending after all that we've been given. After the meaningless deaths, the hurt that so many characters suffered through, all the shitty character story line endings and lack of closure for important characters. Where is the change in society? How in the world is this series supposed to be about hope? Where's the hope???
Sorry, this is really ranty and is way more than I'd complain otherwise, I do love this series a lot and that's why I'm so upset. It's genuinely kinda shocking that such a wonderful and beloved story gets such a terrible ending. But that's what fanfiction is for and that's the only saving grace I'm feeling right now. I'm so freaking sad. πππ

Hope youβre well. Do you know how much extra content volumes usually have compared to the number of weekly pages? Apparently weβre getting 60 extra pages. Is that a lot more than normal?
Hello! Thanks for the well wishes.
You've come to the right person, because I'm a weirdo who has done a ridiculous amount of research on Shueisha's tankΕban releases and how they differ from WSJ serialization, so I have a good idea about how some of those pages are going to be used. I'm also gonna compare what we know about this final volume to those of other series.
Strap in for the spreadsheets and data party, pal!
First, here's a look at a selection of MHA volumes.
EDIT: These numbers come from Shueisha's official listings of the volumes and their table of contents, cross-verified with the MHA fanwiki's chapter page counts, some of my own physical copies, and online fan scans.
As you can see, roughly 20 pages is typical. 58 seems wild in comparison. I wanted to know what those 20 pages were usually used for.
So, I went through my copy of volume 37 and did a breakdown of its contents.
Now lemme explain some things:
Every tankΕban will have between 4-6 pages for legal disclaimers ("this is a work of fiction", etc.), table of contents, and copyright information.
A "door" is a printing term for what one might call the volume title page or chapter title page (example in link). Not all chapters have "doors," most have their titles integrated into the first page, like so:
The vast majority of tankΕban have page counts that are divisible by four. This is related to the physical mechanics of printing and binding books, so it is unusual to find ones outside this format. Volume 11 is an outlier in this regard with 210 pages; in fact, the English language release cut those two surplus pages.
TankΕban may have dust jackets. MHA tankΕban with dust jackets often have a second, internal "sketch cover" and a final page promoting the next volume. These are not included in page counts, and are thus not included in my breakdown.
Manga is of course read right-to-left; this means if you hold a tankΕban open, odd-numbered pages will be on the left side and even-numbered pages will be on the right.
In professional publishing, chapters are structured so their first page of actual story content is on the left. Page planning, which is taught to new artists and enforced by editors, involves the odd-numbered page ending on some sort of "pull." Basically, page 2 might be drawn to lead your eye across the book, but page 3 has to make you want to turn the page and find out what happens next.
Basically everything published in Weekly Shonen Jump has chapters with an odd-number of pages, so it'll have 15, 17, 19, or 21 pages, instead of 16, 18, 20, or 22. This allows the chapter to both begin and end on the lefthand side; even-numbered pages before and after the chapters separate the different series with promotional ads.
What we think of as bonus material is mostly what I personally call adjustment pages: in order for every chapter to still begin and end on the odd-numbered page in the tankΕban, they must be separated by at least one page that fills the even-numbered gap.
Sketches, quotes, doors, all that extra stuff is really just there to make the structure of the tankΕban a little more appealing to the reader. In my breakdown, "adjust" refers to an even-numbered page that is totally blank except for a MHA logo in the bottom corner.
So, 4-6 pages for legal stuff and at least 1 page separating each chapter (typically 8-12), plus a few pages of extra art like character pages or chapter doors, you can see why we end up with roughly 20 pages more than the total of the chapter pages combined.
With this information, let's imagine what Volume 42 might look like.
In this estimate, I just guessed it would have the same pattern of extras as Volume 37, since we know the final volume will have the results of the last WSJ popularity poll. This totals 146 pages, so basically, even accounting for the inter-chapter sketches, that's 38 pages of new, unknown content!
I've seen people guessing that the final volume will include the 2008 one-shot Horikoshi used as the basis for My Hero Academia, but I can basically guarantee you that won't happen, because when it was published in Akamaru Jump (which is now called Jump GIGA), it was 47 pages long. Yes, I went and found a Japanese blog post from January 2008 to verify this page count.
126 chapter pages + 4 legal pages + 8 adjustment pages between chapters + 4 pages for popularity poll + 47 one-shot pages = 189 pages, 5 pages too many. They would have to remove the adjustment pages to make it work, which totally fucks the flow of the manga.
Furthermore, the word used in the WSJ ad to describe the bonus material for the final volume (ζγδΈγγ) specifically refers to drawings newly made for a special purpose. They simply would not use this to refer to a previously published manga being included.
For comparison, I researched the tankΕban releases for a number of other WSJ series.
Dr. Stone and Mashle's final volumes were basically identical to their regular volumes in terms of extras and content. I also researched The Prince of Tennis and Naruto as older comparisons, but I couldn't find information exact enough to warrant inclusion, but what I saw more or less matched Dr. Stone and Mashle.
As you can see, Demon Slayer is the weird one here, and it's obvious why. The series ended during the first few months of the COVID-19 pandemic, and Gotouge mentioned having a family member they needed to care for; a lot of people felt these issues contributed to Gotouge not being able to end the series as they had originally intended.
Demon Slayer chapters were typically 19 pages, but the last two chapters were 26 pages and 24 pages, uncommonly even-numbered. If you look at the final chapters and the epilogue in the tankΕban, just numbers-wise, the ending could have been four 19-page chapters. But for whatever reason, that wasn't how it went down during serialization.
It's worth noting that the pages added to the tankΕban do not change the ending, they merely provided greater emotional closure.
Side note but if anyone's gonna try and bring up Attack on Titan, I'm just gonna point out that AOT was a monthly manga published by Kodansha, a different company entirely. I imagine they have their own approach to marketing tankΕban or special releases. You also have to consider the tastes and intentions of the creator, and hot take but I have absolutely no fucking positive opinions on that dude or his work, so it was no surprise to me that anything he added just made the ending worse.
TL;DR: Yes, it's a lot more than regular volumes! Content-wise, we'll probably get beautiful new illustrations and some revised page art that add details which improve pacing or themes. We might get a few extra chapter pages where a single serialized page gets turned into a big double-page spread, like we saw for Katsuki's fight with AFO.
There could be a couple new panels that bring more closure to things that were hinted at in the final chapters, who knows.
The only thing I personally want is a true bkdk handhold.
I'd love a double-page spread of Izuku taking Katsuki's hand and beaming up at him. Just insert it right there at the end before we see them all scampering off to make the world a better place. That would do my heart good.

Final Chapter: A Look at the Ending of MHA
With the manga of My Hero Academia finally coming to a close, I thought I'd give my opinions about how the series ended. I will be covering everything from Chapter 424 to Chapter 430. This is going to mix my thoughts on the ending, a proposed rewrite, and a lot of responses to people's criticism towards it. Because I'm going to be real with you all: the past two months have been the most frustrating and exhausting experience I've had with this fan base.Β
I have been writing this since the finale ended. In that time, I've been listening and taking in all the discourse of fans in order to make a more informed opinion. It's been miserable trying to read through all the thoughts people had about the finale. The sheer amount of opinions that were based off misinformation or misreadings of the series has been staggering. So, if I sound more exhausted or if the writing comes across as more scattershot then when I normally do something like that, that's the reason.Β And, as always, if you have anything you want to discuss, whether it be about the post or the ending, feel free to ask about it.
Review
Miscellaneous Notes:
So there are some bits of the story I wanted to talk about, but didn't feel the need to include full on diatribes about.
-Oh hey, Koichi from Vigilantes is here, that's so- and he's gone.
-Even when Izuku is his peer, Aizawa still finds time to be a jerk to his students.
-Mirio is the number one hero. Makes sense, but it does feel out of nowhere with how little Mirio has been relevant up until now.
-How on Earth is Miriko still working, let alone as a hero? She's down three limbs and in arguably worse shape then Enji.
-Man, they are really taking Kai to task these past few arcs, aren't they? I mean, I get why, but jeez. It's honestly sad to see what's been done with his character.
-I like how All Might's light returned to his eyes. It's a good way to show him getting his spirit back after all this time and reigniting hope in himself..
-So if Eri's horn is back, does that mean her power is back? Kind of wish we had something saying about why she isn't healing people. I get if it's her choice or the recipients choice not to do so, but there needs to be something for that.
Hospital Visit
This works as little cool down from the big battle, especially since we really needed to see some of the immediate consequences on the main characters. I actually like a lot of the stuff with Bakugou. After all this, he finally understands Izuku, shown by them getting similar injuries, and lets himself be emotionally vulnerable about wanting the two to be rivals. And we finally got some thoughts on part of Izuku here, like his regret about seemingly failing to save Tomura and how he doesn't feel hurt about losing out on "One For All". How he's glad that he even got this chance in the first place. I do feel the need to mention All Might saying that Izuku saved the "soul" of Tomura. I think a lot of people missed or ignored that line. It's important to Tomura's death, but I'll get more into that later.
Speaking of consequences, I don't mind Izuku losing out on "One For All". In the grander scheme of things, "One For All" doesn't need to be a thing anymore. With "All For One" gone, it no longer has a purpose to exist. And as we've all seen with All Might, someone holding that much power over he world is a problem, regardless of whether it's used for good or evil. Having it gone helps even the playing field and will push for the idea that people should rely on themselves and each other instead of focusing all on a single symbol. What's more, I think Izuku having to sacrifice it and lose it gives the ending a lot more weight. Because Izuku sacrificed the thing that made him a hero in order to stop Shigaraki. To me, that's one of the most defining aspects of a hero: the willingness to sacrifice something important to themselves to help others.
UA Stuff
All of the things happening at UA are fine. Β I do like that Aoyama chose to leave 1-A of his own volition instead of being forced out. Plus, now Shinso is in the Hero Course. Good for him. I've never been all that invested in Shino's story, but this is a good way to get him into Class 1-A without making an exception or replacing any of the core cast members. I liked Mirio's graduation speech. I think it works with his arc of trying to inspire other people and trying to honor Sir Nighteye's memory. And they got to have their own little party. That's nice.
Honestly, I find myself having very little to say about all of this, at least the parts within the school itself. I'm all for a calm after the storm to talk about what happened and to build up characters. I'm honestly gladΒ we're back at the school to help ground things after that massive battle. But I think there may have been too much time spent on this. It just feels a little longer than what's needed. Like the bits with the cotton girl feel like they weren't needed for the story and could have been better used setting up or wrapping up something else.
Todoroki Family Prison Visit
The Todoroki family drama has always been one of the stronger plotlines, especially in the latter half of the series. And I believe that it ended on a pretty strong note. It's to the point where I struggle to really say much about the resolution of it. Β I do like how Shoto asks for something as basic as his favorite food. I also like how Dabi let go of his hatred towards Shoto, who was as much of a victim as he was in all of this, but still held on to it for Endeavor. Because in spite of what a lot of fans seem to think, the manga does take Enji to task and isn't saying he should be forgiven.
Dabi being in this condition is pretty awful, but I concede that it was necessary for him to have a resolution with the other Todorokis. I'll get to my thoughts on the condition of the villains later in the post. So for now I'll just say the metal coffin looks equal parts cool and horrific. I think it's too long at least in the wrong places. I understand that this is an important part of the story. But when it takes up so much of the chapter it's in, I feel like at least something should have been given to the other family members. They aren't the main players of the subplot, but they still could have used some resolution.
Afterburn
Now, there are those who say Enji got off too easy. Uh, no, he didn't. The man lost everything he strived for in the number one position, something that turned out to be totally hollow, and is left severely injured after the battle, due in large part to Dabi. Now the only thing that would bring his life purpose, his family, is all torn apart by his own actions. Now he's resigned himself to seeing his dying son, who hates him with every burnt fiber of his being, every day until Dabi dies. Enji's punishment is to live on, knowing what he did and failing to ever put his family back together. That's not a happy ending, that's a sentencing.
Which is something I do find frustrating about the end of their arc. While we get solid conclusions with Natsuo and Dabi, how Shoto, Fuyumi, and especially Rei feel about all this and their relationship with Enji is ambiguous at best. At least with Shoto and Fuymui, we had some idea of where they stood with their father before now, but Rei is still not clear. I'm not sure about the implications with Rei and whether she's still with Enji. I choose to think that she isn't just trying to help him out in the few panels we see them together, but it's not exactly clear. Which certainly does leave the door open for some... less than favorable interpretations.
Commissioner Hawks
I'm not sure how to feel about Keigo's conclusion. On the one hand, I don't mind where he ended up as the head of the Hero Commission. It's still a way for him to help heroes to make their lives easier without getting involved as a hero. And if there is anyone that can clean up the Hero Commission, it's the guy that's worked under them his entire life. On the other hand though, it does kind of feel like he did got off scott free for a lot of the stuff he did while under the Hero Commission, namely killing Twice. It never feels like Hawks personally was taken to task for his part in all of this. So now we have a murderer as the head of the Hero Commission.Β
It doesn't matter if he was under orders to do it or not, nor if there were extreme circumstances that pushed him to such actions. The pragmatic side of me does see the reasoning of that, but the story enforces that what Hawks did is a bad thing and does so constantly. Nothing about the manga takes Hawks to task for what he did or makes it feel like he's been punished for that. He may have lost his Quirk, but we don't really know how he feels about that. Which is weird considering how much of his life came from having that Quirk. Unless his comment about not being ashamed of his "filthy wings" as long as he got to help Tokoyami? Maybe it will make more sense on another read.
Spinner and Izuku
I feel like this scene is pretty underrated. Heck, it may even cemented Spinner as one of my favorite villains. To me, it really goes to show the tragedy at the core of Spinner's character. That, for all of his desire to change things or help out his friends, he was too weak to see any change made for himself. So he attached himself to idols like Stain or Tomura. He was always manipulated or pulled by something else. Whether it be the radicalization of Stain or the machinations of All For One, his hopes were used against him, his mindless actions given meaning by peons. All it did was lose him everything. He was, ultimately, a kid who was in over his head and was turned into a monster because of it. The monster everyone saw him as.
And while I've heard some people complain about Tomura only having a message for Spinner, I think that's more about the relationship Tomura had with the rest of the League. They were aligned together for a mutual goal and hadΒ some care for one another, but I don't think they ever understood or were close to one another. Spinner is the only one Tomura had any kind of real closeness. That's the whole point of the gamer line, as silly as it was. So, while to the rest of the League, he was Shigaraki, the force of destruction and change, to Spinner, he was Tomura, a friend who he wanted to fight for. My only issue, again, is some unfortunate openness with the ending. Spinner writing a book to spite the heroes is fine, but it leaves this unfortunate implication that this book will be used to radicalize more people. I don't think that is the intention, but again, it's not very clear.
Everyone Do Your Share
I was originally frustrated by how much of the final chapters spent on the cleaning up of things, especially since there were so few chapters left. However, looking back, I do feel it's pretty important to reinforce the idea of everyone trying to help in their own way, no matter how big or small it may be. And in doing so, show the changes on every level possible. It's there to show how things are changing by how people act and see heroes. We've got the civilians doing their part to help the heroes, and we've got the next generation changing their perspective on heroism. All thanks to Class 1-A and their efforts. It's just a nice and efficient way to show things changing from a broader perspective.
Which leads me to the stitch mouth kid. I saw people begging that this kid would be the new Tomura and show that society is still bad and broken. As if something like that wouldn't undermine the entire point of the ending. The whole point is that anyone can be a hero in any way, as long as you are willing to reach out and help others. And people who see a problem can and should do something to help people. They should help when they have the chance before it is too late. So having the old woman reach out to help another lost child is a nice way to tie up that point. And the whole point of all this is that the heroes, especially Izuku, don't need to do everything themselves.Β
The More Things Change
Many people were upset of the idea of aspects like hero rankings and the Hero Commission not being abolished by the time the series ended. I disagree. I never thought that the rankings themselves were bad or wrong, nor did I think the story ever shows that the rankings are bad. That only seemed to be an issue with Enji and that had a lot of personal issues behind it. Every other hero seemed to be perfectly content to do hero work regardless of the rankings. Now, the Hero Commission, I can understand more. It's shown to be morally gray with its power. However, I don't think the existence of this kind of system is inherently wrong. Having oversight to heroes isn't a bad idea. It's just that the usage of it use to a lot of problems. And most of those people that propagated it are dead and gone.
Further still, there are people that say nothing has changed in the setting. That, since these systems are still in place, it's alwaysΒ going to be like this. Again, I disagree. Because of the massive devastation wrought by Tomura, it gave Japan a fresh start with the current generation. This gives the country the chance to overhaul those systems, even if they are still around. At the end of the day, systems are made up of and byΒ people. The story makes it clear many times how important it is to win the crowd over. And if you win the hearts and minds of the people, it could go on to propagate massive change to the system. If enough people want to change and push for it, things will change. Saying that "things didn't change because systems can't be changed" is such a horrifically pessimistic take on the ending.
The Death of Villains
I've mentioned it before, and I'll say it again: I don't mind Toga dying. By extension, I don't mind the villains dying either. While it may seem tragic and pointless for her to die, I do think that is kind of that point. And no, I don't think this means that she "couldn't be saved". I think it's more of a tragedy. She was the one that people could have been saved before, but it was far too late to help her given how far she had gone. And her dying isn't a failing of that. Because Toga's ultimate goal was to live and die on her own terms. Specifically, being able to express herself and her "love". And to a lesser degree, to have someone try to understand her. I think her dying to save Uraraka is a good end to her character. By extension, that's how I feel about a lot of the villains' deaths in this. They got what they wanted, tragically died in order to see it through to the end. At least there's some peace for them, in that respect.
There's also a matter of "saving". I think a lot of fans took this too literally. To me, "saving" was more about reaching out and trying to understand villains rather than simply fighting them. "Saving" was never going to be the same as "redeeming". Because let's be real, there is no redeeming these people. Not because they can't be redeemed, it's because they don't want to be redeemed, and I think it'd betray their characters to do so. They are unapologetically bad and have hurt a lot of people. Every member of the League is complicit in the deaths of thousands and throwing an entire country into chaos. They aren't wrong for fighting the system, they're wrong for killing countless people to do so. And I have to ask what the other options are? You either have them be forgiven and turn good, which would be insane given the crimes they committed and their characters, or have them locked up forever, which is a fate worse than death. At least in death they can have some form of peace by escaping the consequences of their actions and all the suffering they went through.
Izuku x Uraraka:
Yeah, I'm kind of confused about why it turned out like this. I'm ignoring all the shipping concerns that come from it. I'm more focused on the story and characters. The whole idea of Uraraka and Toga's shared story was about understanding your feelings, both towards yourself and other people. Especially how bad it is to repress and hide your feelings. The whole catalyst of Toga's story was her being forced to repress herself. So having this whole subplot end like this is really odd if Uraraka doesn't express her feelings. That's not mentioning all the hints, setups, and teasing that pushed these two as a potential couple that fell through by not having any conclusion. I honestly wonder why Hori, or his editors, decided to back down like this.Β
Which, hey, now may not be the best time for a confession, but it's still jarring not to see anything come of it after all this time. Especially since so much of the chapter is about the two talking about their feelings. So why is it written like this? Now, I want to dismiss the popular concept that Hori changed this because of death threats between the two. While it's not something I'd put past obsessive fans, there hasn't been anything to substantiate the claim. So, barring rogue translators, my only guess is that Hori or an editor didn't want to do the reveal now and wanted to focus more on the important parts of the two's connection about inspiring one another. I can understand that, but it feels like a part of their dynamic is missing without any real acknowledgment of the two's feelings.
Izuku and Uraraka:
And I say all that to preface that I do like a lot of this scene and I do think it's important to each of the characters. Because Ochako is being open with her feelings here. It's just not the feelings that were being set up all the way in the first chapter. It's the two trying to connect and come to terms with their own failings with their villains. Only to have Izuku reach out his hand, reaffirming that sometimes all people need is a small act of kindness. Though it's hard to always do that, he's willing to do it because he's just that good of a guy. And having Izuku say that Uraraka is his hero is more heartfelt and important to these characters and the story at large then any confession could have been.Β
And then we have the rest of Class 1-A coming to help as well. It works as a good parallel to Uraraka saving Izuku back during the Dark Hero Arc. It fits with the idea of heroes saving and helping one another. My only major issue is that I kind of wish we had gotten a little more with Izuku talking about his own feelings regarding Tomura, but we already got that back in Chapter 424. All and All: am I still disappointed that Izuku and Uraraka didn't have any romantic resolution? Kind of. It's less that I wanted them to get together and more I wanted some kind of resolution for it. But I still think what we got is good and that people are focusing way too much on what isn't there than what is there. Which I feel like is a problem with a lot of the ending, but we'll get to that.
Class 1-A Futures:
I do wish we got to see more of the future of Class 1-A, even if they were brief snippets. There are glimpses of Shoto and Bakugou. Bakguou's is alright, and I do like the final bit about no one connecting Shoto and Endeavor. I think that's a good ending for him. The most we get with any kind of detail are Shoji's and Urarak's groups. And I guess Shoji had a good future? Look, the Heteromorph plotline is arguably one of the worst parts of the whole manga. It may even be worse than the Stars and Stripes arc. So I can't exactly muster a lot of enthusiasm seeing it resolved by Shoji in the end. I suppose him thanking the people at the riot was nice? That whole part of the story honestly deserves its own post talking about it.
On the flip side, I'm fine with Uraraka's ending. Because I think people tend to conflate a lot of what makes up "Quirk Counseling", mostly thanks to people like Curious and Toga. One is part of a cult that wants to destroy society and the other most grievously targeted by it. From what we've actually seen of it, such as Tamaki's flashback, it just seems to be a lot of training and understanding your Quirk. Toga was just an unfortunate case where the system as it was couldn't help her and could only try and fit her into a niche. So I don't think expanding it is that big of a problem. Plus, expanding could include more extensive counseling that is more tailored to each child. I do think it's kind of odd that Iida and Momo seem to be stapled on to this ending, though. I'm not sure how this works as an end for either of them. I guess their roles as leaders of the class?
Great Teacher Izuku
Look, I don't mind Izuku having this job. Do I think there could have been other choices for this? Yes, but this is by no means bad. Being a teacher is a lot more respectable in Eastern cultures. Especially since he's teaching at the best hero school in the country, if not the world, it is certainly a high-profile job. And he is still being a hero in his own way and helping out the next generation as a teacher. More importantly, I still think that Izuku achieved his dream of being the greatest hero. The man brought down the greatest villain in human history and was one of the two people responsible for causing a massive shift in the way the world of heroes works. He is truly the world's greatest hero. There is no debating that. This is like some kid wanting to go to space to be the greatest astronaut. They not only go to space, they're the first person on Mars. They also stop the martins from invading Earth, killing the king of the martins, and save humanity. Now injured, they instead teach other cadets how to be astronauts. Would they not have success in their goal of being the greatest astronaut? I don't think anyone could match up with that.
However, my issue is with everything surrounding it. There isn't any set up for him becoming a teacher. It gives us the sense that this was the back-up option for when his real dreams feel through. Especially since Izuku gave everything he could to try and be a hero, and it doesn't happen until the very end of this manga. Which doesn't seem like the intention, since Izuku seems happy enough, but I heard a lot of people saying that. It's lacking in that catharsis and satisfaction that you'd expect from an ending. But you can have an ending that's not exactly happy and still be cathartic, and I think that still applies here. And another problem I have is that he's teaching at UA. Yes, he's helping out the next generation of heroes, but he's not helping out the people that need it most. The kind of people who don't make it into UA. The kind of people like Tomura, Spinner, and Twice. Those are the kind of people that should be getting help like this. Why not put him in a position with a much greater ability to help people? Finally, wasn't the whole point of All Might's arc? That there are other ways to be heroes and life outside of hero work? Why not have that aspect of the story be resolve with him instead of Izuku? He was already going down that route to begin with. Why repeat the same idea?
Walk and Talk
Again, I'm going to have to counter a major talking point I've seen in the fanbase. No, Izuku is not unhappy in his job. He seems to enjoy it and is in fact very good at it, as seen when talking to his students and the plate kid, Dai. He's only unhappy in one panel, in which he's being talked down to by Aizawa. No, Izuku is not forgotten by the world. He's mentioned in the same breath as some of the greatest heroes in the series, has his own statue with the rest of Class 1-A, and is so famous that people know his real name and is of such mythical status that people question if he is real. No, Izuku's friends did not abandon him. The most that Izuku says about that is that it's difficult for all twenty members to get together. He's still probably seeing them in smaller numbers. And I can tell you as someone who has had trouble even getting a quarter of that number of people into a single time slot, it's going to be difficult to get twenty people with separate schedules and lives together.
As for everything with Dai, it's fine. His perspective is pretty important as we get to see the changing worldview. With the demystification of heroes and the elevation of other roles in helping others, young people are now all getting into different fields. The talk around the statue is pretty good as well. Having Izuku effectively talk to a younger version of himself is a good way to close out his arc and all the insecurities he's had over the manga. However, part of me feels like this kind of talk should be done with the stitch-mouth kid. We do actually see him as a part of UA students with Kota. I think having Izuku end up talking to him about his Quirk could have been a good way to end his arc by having him be able to help someone similar. Not to say that the Dai stuff was bad or pointless. It just feels odd to include the guy that's supposed to be the metaphorical spirit of Tomura, put him in Izuku's class, and have them not interact.
The Suit
Again, this is another point where I don't have a major issue with it. At least, I don't have an issue getting the suit itself. I have some issues with the semantics. Did it take too long to build? I wouldn't say that. It was revealed in a piece by Horikoshi that it took all of All Might's vast resources to build, and it lacked a lot of the proper safety features. Having it take some time before it's battle ready for Izuku makes sense. However, that isn't in the manga, at least as far as I can tell. Maybe this makes more sense in the volumes, where stuff like this is included all the time. For real though, these people built this in secret for eight years, and they are just now letting him find out. Was there really no explanation you could have added to make that make more sense?
It creates this odd juxtaposition of endings as well. It gives the feeling of the story wanting to have its cake and eat it as well. Someone wanted Izuku come to terms with being Quirkless and to have a life outside of hero work. The other person wanted Izuku to still fight and be a hero. I also wonder why not just have be both at the same time instead of doing this twist. Make it clear that heroes have a lot more time, both thanks to Hawks and the contributions of the many heroes in the world all working together. Izuku doesn't need to be a full-time hero to save people and chooses to be a teacher to help people in a way that only he can do. That way, he can still be a hero that isn't necessarily the profession while being a professional hero without a Quirk.
Final Thoughts
Now, what are my final options for all of this? I think that ending was pretty solid, leaning good. I do agree that it's better than what is on offer than a lot of shΕnen series and a good enough ending for the story. I'm not saying it's amazing or perfect. Though I do find myself more satisfied than frustrated. I get a lot of what the story is going for, and it makes sense. It just needed some refinement to really work. As for what everyone else has said about it, I honestly think that a lot of people are overreacting. I wouldn't go as far as to say people are "lacking media literacy" or that they are "reading in bad faith" like others have on either side of the debate. I just think this as a case where the context and delivery of it resulted in a lot of confusion. And more often than not, people will tend to go with the worst version of the implications. This is not helped by the leaks and bad translations which fans ran away with, as well the built-up hype and headcanons, which poisoned the well for a lot of people.
However, I cannot deny that there is part of the fanbase that is simply not getting the manga. I don't want to use the word "tourist", because that's a No True Scotsman fallacy, but it's starting to feel applicable here. The people who simply aren't reading the manga, whether it be through engaging with it solely through other people talking about it, or trying to look at it anything beyond the most kneejerk and surface level reactions. Because a lot of people tend to conflate what My Hero Academia is about or what its story is conveying. And unfortunately, those are the people with massive followings. Anyone with a differing opinion is drowned out in the sea of angry comments. And I think we really need to get away from that. What I'm saying is that you read the story as it is. Focus on what is happening and what it is trying to say. Don't force a meaning or headcanon on something that wasn't there and don't rely on word of mouth for what the manga is about. Just focus on what the story is trying to say.
My only hope is that this will pass, and calmer heads will win out. That once it's stepped outside the zeitgeist, people will be able to analyze it as a whole. If not, then I'm terrified to think that this will become My Hero Academia's legacy: a bunch of stupid jokes made by people who can't bother to read the official version of the story or try to understand a culture outside their own even when it plays a vital role within the story. If not, then I can hope that maybe something else will come to replace it. Because I'm not sure if this is truly the end. I've heard rumors that there's going to be something akin to Naruto: The Last or the Naruto Wedding Special coming out after the anime ends. If not that, who knows who other kinds of side material will come out to follow up on the world or characters. Which would make sense. The ending doesn't feel like an ending as much as it does "And the adventure continues." Which could be why I'm not as affected by this ending as other people.
There's certainly the cultural side and how that surrounds the manga. I'll always stand by the fact that this manga is a Japanese story by a Japanese author for a Japanese audience. And there's a lot of cultural context that goes into the series. I keep thinking about how a lot of Japanese fans seemed to like the ending and how much I wished I had the context to understand it. Another part of it is how much I'm thinking about Hori. Because for all the popularity of it, being a mangaka is one of the most stressful jobs in Japan. One where the artist has much less say over how their story goes. I'm so curious about what went on behind the scenes to make My Hero Academia turn out the way it is. Was all this Hori fumbling his own story, whether that be through incompetence or failing health, or were there outside forces pressing on him to do things a certain way? It's like how people became more forgiving of Kubo or Toriyama once they found out how hamstrung they were by their higher ups. I suppose only time will tell.
Rewrite
Now, time for the Rewrite portion. As a reminder, I do try to keep to what the manga does as close as possible. For example, I personally would just let Izuku keep some version of "One For All" if the ultimate conclusion was him still being a hero. However, it's obvious that Hori didn't want to go that route with it, so I'll be sticking to him getting with the suit.
Starting things off, we'll be in the hospital with Izuku and All Might recovering. We're told about "One For All" leaving him, and we'll get some reaction from Izuku about it. He will be sad but resolved. He may not have "One For All", but he's still alive. He's got the skill and will to help people without it. And he still wants to do that, even in his own way, because he still has value without "One For All". This could help soften the blow of Izuku losing out on "One For All". That and it's at least something to try to tie up Izuku's self worth issues. This will also be something confirmed by Inko, putting a nice little bow on all this with her being more properly encouraging of Izuku as opposed to how things were in Chapter 1.
Then we're going to reveal how many people want to talk to Izuku. Reporters are going to be hounding Izuku for his story, considering how he was key in stopping Tomura. Which he obviously can't do right now due to his condition. After some time, he will eventually recover enough to give a press conference. This will also be where we get the varying opinions on Tomura, having a panel overwhelming Izuku with questions and thoughts. Izuku is now going to use his newly found position to try and change things for the better. He's going to emphasize the importance of the role of the other heroes and not have it all focus on him. He's going to use it as a platform to talk about who Tomura was and why he did what he did.
It's going to be something emotional and vulnerable, something propping up Izuku as a person rather than the hero Deku, working to prevent another situation like All Might where everyone keeps putting them on pedestals. This way, we have both the validation of Izuku saving everyone and wanting to bring about change on the societal level. It shows him being a hero in the traditional way with the defeat of All For One, now he's being a hero in the non-traditional way. This will be cutting into some of the time we have at UA, but to me, I don't think a lot of what's in that part is ultimately necessary to what the story is trying to say.
For the sake of this, Hawks will still be working as the head of the Hero Commission. He'll talk about how he feels free now that his Quirk is gone and everything that came with it, more so than ever before. However, he still wants to make life easier for heroes so that they can feel this kind of freedom. He initially didn't want the position, but felt the need to take it on after everything that's happened and make things right, implying the guilt he feels over his actions. Plus, it has some nice irony of Hawks still being trapped within the Hero Commissions. So him taking the role is more of his own penance and a punishment.
So while Izuku is fighting on the public front, changing the hearts of the masses to enact change, Hawks will be fighting on the political and systematic front, using the devastation of the country as a fresh start. He'll encourage groups of heroes to work together rather than focusing on the individual. He'll push for a greater level of training or vetting when it comes to people who can get a license for hero work. Most importantly, a greater level of accountability and transparency in both heroes and the Hero Commission as a whole.
Lady Nagant will remain in jail, but it's more for reasons of atonement rather than wanting to wait and see how things play out. Hawks will try to offer her some deal or reduction as a way to make things right, but she feels like it's the right thing to do rather than trying to pretend it never happened. This will also be the part where we explore some of the points with Hawks we talked about earlier. Lady Nagant can even question if the Hero Commission is needed, but Hawks can talk about all the reforms he wants to do with it.
For Chapter 426, we're shortening the Todoroki family time, and it will only take up half of the chapter. I will have some confirmation on whether or not Rei was able to move on from what Enji did and do more to cement how Enji is alone now. He may be resolved to change and make things right, but he is not getting his family back. That ship has sailed. Instead, we'll be sticking to everything involving Hawks and Toshinori in the latter half of this, with him talking to Lady Nagant and him discussing his plans for changing the ranking systems in general. I think it'd flow a lot better, works with tying up another character so closely tied to the Todorokis, and gives us more time for other stuff.
However, we're keeping 427 mostly intact. I think Spinner's material is good, and everything that got brought up needed to be mentioned one way or another. The most I'd do is cut down on the ending gag, since it frustrates me so much, and some of the interviews since we may not need them as much with how I'll be changing things in those sections. I am removing the Kai part of the chapter as well. I like Kai, but this honestly feels pointless in the grand scheme of things.
The biggest change will be that I'll include a bit where, instead of Izuku saying to make it a comic book, he'll remind Spinner to think about what would happen if someone like Spinner read it. About how important a book like that could be and how it should be written, but also how it could hurt someone who reads it. Spinner will remain silent in response, thinking back on how he saw Stain and how he was puppeteered around by the likes of One For All and the PLF during the Final War.
I think you could do a nice parallel between Izuku and Spinner here. They were two young men who were ultimately racialized and hurt by their idols and their lack of self-worth. Again, it's showing Izuku thinking about himself more with what has happened to him and tying that to Spinner's own situation. Plus, it prevents something like Spinner's book from having the unfortunate implication of turning out to something like the MLA book.
We're cutting Chapters 428 and 429 in half and stitching them together. Specifically, all the stuff with the new Class 1-A and the Old Class 1-A will be removed. I just feel like we don't need to focus on this as much as other parts of the world or story. Preferably, I would want them to get together. With the Bakugou and Shoto being seen bit, we're throwing in Izuku as well. There needs to be some confirmation that people did in fact see him as a hero as well and confirm that the three are in fact the new Big Three of UA. I'm not asking this to be the norm of it like they do in Naruto. I just feel like there should be some external validation.
The fight between Toga and Uraraka will be around and released to the public. Her death will be seen as something tragic to the world and help spark the change we see later on with people empathizing with villains like her. This could also lead to Izuku seeing it and being the impetus for Izuku and Ochako talking about their feelings. Yes, this chapter will include a confession for Ochako to Izuku. It won't be during a breakdown, but it needs to be put in somewhere and might as well be here. I'll even settle for an implication. Up to you on whether or not you think this should solidify them as a couple, but I feel like you have to include that in order to complete all of the set-up in the series and especially with Toga.
The new Chapter 429 will instead be a two-year time jump into the future before everyone is graduating. We can still start it off with some of the "where are they now" bits, but not have it take up too much time. With the final embers of "One For All" starting to fade out, Izuku knows this is the end of him as a proper hero, but it doesn't matter to him. He got to be the greatest hero in history who literally saved the world. He doesn't define himself by having a Quirk or not and knows that he can still help people without a costume on. Izuku plans on either going into counseling, charity work, or even trying to get a job at the Hero Commission. Up to you on this one. He still wants to help and stop the various hurting people of the world from ever becoming like anyone from the League ever again. Make it clear this is something Izuku wants.
This is when Toshinori gives him his graduation gift: the suit. Between Toshinori's remaining resources, gifts and gratitude from the various people across the world, and contributions from members of 1-A, they were able to build him the suit. Toshinori kept it from Izuku because it wasn't ready until a few days ago, needing to be properly prepared and built as opposed to the rush job that was the dangerous prototype he used. Izuku, of course, has notes and ideas for improvements on the suit. Toshinori reaffirms that Izuku earned this, and he will still be a worthy hero and successor, Quirkless or otherwise. The chapter ends with Class 1-A and 1-B graduating. I know that two years seems short, but I think that the timespan is enough of a time gap to get the suit together, at least with how I am setting it up, and to have the embers of "One For All" fade.Β
The alternative route is that, knowing that the embers are running out, Izuku still wants to be a hero. So he's spent the last two years trying to prepare himself for that, putting as much time into training and learning how to use equipment made for him. He doesn't care if he isn't going to be the top hero. He's going to do what he's already been doing: helping people, because that's all he really wanted out of life. That this whole experience changed how he saw himself and hero work. You could even say that it's the prototype for him, eventually becoming the suit. Maybe even combine them both, with the former being a backup plan after hero work. And while I have never been the biggest fan of the whole "Quirkless Hero" concept with how little it's supported in the world, I think we can let it slide because it's the finale. But I wanted to mention it because I thought it'd be an interesting path for the story to take.
Then the real chapter 430 will cut to the future, roughly five to six years. I could take or leave Izuku being a teacher, but for the sake of this, let's say that he is one. Heroes have more time off, so he decides to help educate people. We'll get a similar series of panels that will focus more on the world with how it is now, mainly in relation to Class 1-A. This will show a lot more of how the 1-A kids have grown and the affects they have on the world, like Uraraka actually interacting and helping a kid like Toga come to terms with their power to show how Quirk Counseling has become a tool to help people. I think we really need more scenes like that to really show that things have grown and changed with the world. Izuku's suit will have changed as well, commenting on how much he's been involved with the modeling and planning throughout his most current iteration.
Toshinori will be living his life and still teaching at UA. He talks about how all the kids want to be like Izuku, especially with Kota, and that they never stop talking about him. He jokes to himself about how he feels like he's been forgotten. Cut back to Izuku's old school with the kid in the back. Events will happen similarly to what they did in Chapter 430, with Izuku meeting a kid similar to himself at All Might's statue. There will be the usual stuff he said, trying to encourage the kid, making comparisons to himself, maybe even showing the photos All Might took of him when he was training. He gets a call about an incident and needs to leave. He tells the kid to never forget about the hero he can be and to never stop striving to be that hero. The final words of the series are the ever-iconic "Plus Ultra". Β This is beyond cheesy, but if we're going to end the series, we might as well end it with some cheese.

hello I recently and after going through it I would like to ask some questions if thatβs ok of course and sorry if you perhaps got one of theses questions before
1.what is your general opinion on Shigaraki cause Iβm curious as a shiggy fan and just curious in general what other people who donβt like him as much or just in general donβt like him think of him
2. How would you write/rewrite shigaraki just in general or if nine was the main villian and Shigaraki was like a secondary villian and or maybe him joining up with nine
3. What do you think would have happened if nine found tenko
sorry if this ask comes off as annoying or rude Iβm just general curious hope you having a good/night
Hello!
It's ok, I would try to answer the question the best I can as english isn't my first lenguage so sorry if you find errors here and there. So let's go:
1_ This may sound strange as my constant comments and critiques about Shigaraki may make look like I hate him, but isn't really the case.
I think is more he's a frustrating character to me because while on paper his concept is fine, I feel his presence ends up being detrimental to the quality of the story because the mangaka didn't know how kept Shigaraki relevant and his solution was artificially increase his status sacrificing other more interesting characters with potential just to elevate Shigaraki, especially Nine and Overhaul.
2_ Honestly I never thought on an in deep rewrite of Shigaraki overall character.
But If I have to say something he did works as a early antagonist considering the initial states of MHA and while I'm not fan of having a singular main villain (because in my ideal story multiple major villains should fight for the power) I think Shigaraki and Nine surely can coexist in the same story. They can even influence each other in fact.
After all an important part of Shigaraki as a character is how he develops a sense camaraderie and tries to became a better leader (even if there's a lot of problems with the execution if that idea in canon).
But Nine already had those qualities since the beginning, he's a good leader who always cared about his teamates and tried his best to protect them. He was a hero for them basically.
So why not make Nine a figure which inspires Shigaraki rather than his rival and Tomura attemps to became a better version of himself while looking what makes Nine a beloved leader, while at the same it time creates a contrast with AFO who was the only prominent figure on his life before.
It would also be funny if AFO didn't see coming how his two attempts of "successors" would became closer allies rather than rivals and join forces, eventually opposing him. Nine would never follow AFO selfish ideals, and he probably will fight to free Shigaraki from his control.
3_ This one is interesting, because I don't think Nine and Shigaraki have a big age difference in the first place.
Despite Nine got a more adult vibe he probably is at best middle 20s, which would make him 4-5 years older than Shigaraki in terms of canon age.
So in a scenario where Nine found Tenko after what happened to his family that day they both will still be kids.
But despite Nine seem to only care about people with stronger quirks and you can think "why he would care about a random kid in the streets?" I actually think Nine has this unconsious instict to protect others in a vulnerable situation regardless of their actual power. After all how he could guess people like Slice and Mummy were strong but he helped them anyway?
That being said I think Nine would do exactly the same for Tenko if he found him that day, extending a hand to him (metaphorically at least lol) and both would escape together while trying to survive on the cruel world of the streets as two orphans without any place to go.
Think about it as Nine being the big bro who tries to protect Tenko the best he can, because he knows Tenko can be a really strong person and both could take on the world someday. Of course Nine won't try to fuel Tenko's trauma unlike AFO, perhaps he will attempt to heal him and Tenko will recover a bit of his own selfless and sweet self with time.
While they grown together as a found family they eventually will meet Chimera, Slice and Mummy like Nine did in canon.
Idk how their lives should continue from there, but pretty sure all them will still fight for create the ideal world Nine always wanted for all of them.
So that's it, I tried my best to answer each question but probably I could've added a lot more but didn't want to make this too long either.
Perhaps one day I will do more post with ideas about how I would like the story to be. It's very fun write about Nine and Shigaraki actually.
Thank you for ask and read!

If there's something that I can commend about my Hero Academia it is the way that Horikoshi handles relationships and the character connection.
More than a power-driven manga, my hero showed that there are tons of stories we've never heard from the sidelines, some reasonable some aren't. Some we can sympathize and some others can. We lose feelings and emotions for people we had a crush with before, or we are angry about. Some people forgive easily even no matter how much others hurt them, others don't then they seek out revenge and then again others don't. Some people make an impact on our lives but sometimes we forget their names.
It's normal. We don't have to deny that some of this stuff stayed, gone, or even non-existent.
I think why there are many shippers is that you can connect stories with the other characters freely. Whether by the quirk compatibility, talent, personality-wise, and even backstory or design-wise. In real life, we also see these things when we make friends, or colleagues, or even find idols or something along those lines.
You see My Hero isn't solely dealing with individual development...
They aren't growing only by their own will but also together with the community around them.
The basic unit of society is indeed the family but when you look around you, you're barely alone. Some experience the same situation as you and do or don't do the same action as you did. MHA was as careful as much as Hori-sensei and his were whereas much as they can they built up the characters around Izuku Midoriya with him, by themselves, or even through strangers in the community. Some awaken their passion and purpose for doing hero work or villainy, while others find simple things that make them remember why they are still living.
My Hero Aca always has the simple plot to be the greatest hero and to reach out to people who need it. Plots like this can be shortened with a one-shot but Hori-sensei and his team dedicated time, effort, and inking (jeez a hard-fought battle) among others to show the different sides of the society.
The society is diverse and with that, we need to reach out to others no matter what because who will ever help each other aside from one another.
I hope this reaches the audiences who need this the most.
Agh. I'm about to sleep and had a bad day today just writing about the things I want to say makes me at least relieved.

Question? Remember the story you did called βsoft kitty.β Would it be possible to do like a part two for that story? but with the rest of the LOV (separately) like Spinner, Mr. Compress, Shigaraki or even Toga? I bet they would appreciate it.π
(Poor baby, her parents probably never comforted her because they were scared of the quirk she hasπ₯Ί she definitely needs a mother figure to comfort herπ)
A/n: I am SO sorry this took so long! I've been pretty overwhelmed, stressed, and exhausted from personal issues haha but I'm thankfully getting back into writing.
I don't write for Toga, but here's the rest! This is my first time writing for Mr. Compress so I hope I did okay haha <3
You Sing "Soft Kitty" to Them When They're Sick -MHA Villains
General info:
Genre: fluff/reverse comfort \\ characters: Shigaraki Tamura, Spinner, Mr. Compress \\ posted: 04/01/24 \\ requested
Part one: Dabi, Hawks, Aizawa, Shoto, Tamaki
Part Two: Shigaraki, Spinner, Mr. Compress
Shigaraki Tomura (381 words):
You frowned when you noticed Shigaraki wasnβt in the crowd to greet you. Your eyes swerve through the LOV as you look for your beloved, only to be met with disappointment gas you fail to spot him. Β
βAre you looking for Shigaraki Tomura?β Kurogiri speaks up. Β
βYes, do you know where he is?β You turn towards your belovedβs number one comrade. Β
βHe is ill, heβs resting in his room. He was frustrated he couldnβt come out to see you himself. βΒ
You smile at that, though youβre upset heβs sick. βThank you, Kurogiri. Iβll go see him now.β You walk towards his bedroom door, ignoring the complaining as you ignore the rest of the league.Β
You step into the room, spotting Shigaraki lying in bed. His ruby colored eyes finding yours in an instant. They soften ever so slightly, unnoticeable to the people who werenβt close to him. βBaby?β You smile, walking closer.Β
βTook you long enough.β He grumbled, moving the blanket to fit you. You giggle, taking your shoes off before climbing in. He grumbles at the delay but relaxes when youβre finally next to him. Β
You expected him to pull you into his arms like usual but was caught by surprise when he clung to you himself, burying his head in your chest. You smile softly, instantly flipping the switch. Β
You gently card your fingers through his light strands of hair. He sighs, melting into your touch. βWelcome home, my precious.β He mumbles. Β
You giggle, kissing his warm forehead. Kissing it again, you frown at the abnormal temperature. βYou okay baby? Are you not feeling good?β Β
He simply buries himself further into you. You smile slightly, pulling him closer as you caress his hair. βShhh itβs alright my love.β Β
After a few moments you can tell heβs getting sleepy, his eyes growing heavy as he tries to force himself to be awake. You stiffle a giggle, kissing his forehead and cheeks before beginning to sing. Β
βSoft kitty, warm kitty, little ball of fur~,β you kiss his forehead, your hands in his hair, β-happy kitty, sleepy kitty, purr purr purr~.β Β
You sing the song a few more times before you look down, seeing his sleeping face. You smile softly, kissing in-between his eyebrows before settling down, ready for sleep yourself. Β
(Shiggys masterlist)
Spinner (148 words):
You smile up as Spinner enters the room. Heβs obviously exhausted from all of the hours heβs put into work, his eyes dark and heavy. He seemed to be unwell too, his nose was stuffy and he looked horrible. Β
βBaby? You okay?β You coo, stretching your arms out. He gratefully collaspes in your hold, letting you hold him as he disconnects. You stay silent, knowing that he just needs your support right now. Β
After a few moments you decide to sing to him, knowing that it helps when heβs having a really hard time.Β
βSoft kitty, warm kitty, little ball of fur~. Happy kitty, sleep kitty, purr purr purr~.β You sing quietly, caressing his head while you pepper soft kisses to his forehead. Β
βThank you.β He rasps, snuggling even closer as he completely melts into your touch. Β
βDonβt even worry about thanking me.β You coo, kissing his nose. Β
(Spinners masterlist- sorta)
Mr. Compress (181 words)
Cβmon baby, youβre sick.β You frown as Atsuhiro begins to get ready for a mission. Β
βI must go darling; I will be back in the evening.β He leans down to kiss your forehead, breathing heavily from getting dressed.Β
βNo, you donβt have to you want to. Please baby. Stay, for me.β Β
βShigaraki needs me, darling.β He sighs, sitting beside you. His hand finds yours as he gently caresses the top of your hand with his thumb.
βI need you.β You pout, trying to guilt him into staying. His lips purse as he looks down at you skeptically. Β
βFine, but Iβm not the one to blame if Shigaraki comes storming in here.β Β
You giggle happily, pulling your beloved onto you as you lay down, letting him rest on you as you gently kiss his shoulders and cheeks. He begins to fall asleep in your arms. Β
βSing to me?β He whispered, causing you to giggle, but comply. Β
βSoft kitty, warm kitty, little ball of fur~. Sleepy kitty, happy kitty, purr purr purr~.β You sing to him gently, smiling down at his asleep form. Β

MHA Dr #3
Name: Apollo Kamiyama
Birthday: January 24th
Height: 5'7"
Appearance: Low-key just a pretty boy. Imma add some art breeder photos at the bottom for more visuals of like my facial features. I combined multiple ones into a few that I liked. But yeah, I'm really pretty and I have freckles and curly hair π»π» me and midoriya twinning π«ΆπΎπ«ΆπΎ scripted that I remind people of the actual God Apollo if he was a human on Earth
Backstory: This one is a very interesting backstory lol. Long story short, my parents were devoted worshippers of the Greek gods. To show their devotion, they allowed the gods to bless me, aka their first child. So I have the blessings of the gods, like Percy Jackson type blessings, as if I were their child. They named me Apollo in honor of the first god they worked with. But that's not all π. They wanted me to become one of the greatest heroes. I was born with no quirk, so they gave me an advanced version of my parents quirks with some blessings of course. And that's how you get the gamer system, but the version from the web novel "Solo Leveling". I was born in Nigeria, but moved to America and did school there. I moved to Japan to do highschool at UA of course πͺπΎπͺπΎ. Don't know if imma actually script siblings, I already have some here π
Quirk: My life is mostly like a RPG player. I have quests I receive from the 12 gods themselves and some others. I can do anything a RPG player can do. The gods can open gates like in the webnovel solo leveling which the Gods open the gates to help me get stronger, with mythical greek monsters too. After my first gate, which the Gods use to test me, I get the skill shadow extraction, like from solo leveling. Anytime I defeat a monster, I can resurrect them to join my army under my command. In the original they are black and blue, but I scripted them to white and gold. The gates that the gods spawn can only be seen by me, and if I want others to see them then they could. The blessings I got from the gods show up as passive skills in my system (This whole quirk makes more sense if you read up on the main character's power).
Voice claim: Probably more higher than I sound in my other realities. I scripted something around Kenma Asmodeus (obey me), and Milo thatch combined. Just soft, pretty and angelic. "I sound like a beautiful tune from the instruments that the God Apollo would perfectly play" quite literally from my script
Extra info-
here are all the blessings and what they actually do (I don't get them all at once. There are six I get first, then I get the rest later on. They can grow from there too)
Zeus β‘- power to control all elements (I start with the 4 basics, before moving into Lightning, metal, etc.)
Hera π¦ - blessed with a loving relationship in my family
Poseidon π± - power to breath underwater and and summon water beings on command
Hades π - (couldn't really decide on one from him. But just something not over the top.)
Aphrodite π¦ͺ - the gift of absolute beauty and power to uncover the emotions hidden deep in one's soul
Apollo βοΈ - blessed with the voice of an angel and the powers of healing. My smile is like a beacon of light and shall illuminate the darkest of nights and usher hope for anyone.
Artemis π - blessed with the instincts of the best hunter, when needed. I shall radiate with calming light, soothing the ones around me.
Athena π« - blessed with the gift of knowledge and learning capabilities. I can solve any puzzles and learn anything very quickly.
Hephaestus βοΈ - blessed with the ability to forge anything with the right materials. I know how to use any weapon.
Hestia π₯ - blessed with the burning desire to bring justice and gifted with the eternal flame.
Hermes πͺ½ - blessed with the ability to tell if a person is pure of heart and tell if they are lying. I have the movements of water and can build up to the speed of light.
Demeter πΏ - blessed with the power to control plant life and animals. Anywhere I go, the place shall prosper
Dionysus π· - blessed with the ability to create anything only when in need. I can always find food
Ares βοΈ - blessed with the power to solve any crisis and instill chaos when needed.
i have a more androgynous beauty in this Dr. Got a lot of beauty from Aphrodite of course ππΎ
I can also communicate with the gods as well and they come like little inboxes in my gamer systems.
I might script that we are rich, but just depends on how I'm feeling.
I have the same skills from the other drs obviously.
Welp that's it for this reality. This is also a really good way to reconnect with myself in my other realities too. Below are the art breeder pics of me. One more to gooo

Shoto's First Kiss Timeline? Idk let's plot it out together
Gif Caption: Me and Shoto sitting together on the train, vibing. π
Hi All!!
If you're a fan of the Shoto's First Kiss series, Chapter 5 dropped at like 3:30 am EST this morning because I am an absolute HEATHEN and decided to have a late night/early morning editing session for 3 hours before posting. This was fun because I decided to add the whole Lisa Frank phone background scene for kicks and add a little more build up to the smut scene (I love a slowish burn...what can I say!?).
@brie-is-cheesy had some great questions in the comments of Chapter 5, I'm going to post it below and answer the best I can! I don't have a full answer to everything and I'm taking some β¨creative liberties β¨ here and there but lets see if I can clear some things up for my lovely readers!
Hiiiii, totally loved it; I was wondering when this is set? Like the timeline, I just got confused I'll leave the list of confusing things about the timeline,, I wrote about how much I love this in my reblog cuz this is awesome!! -since bnha is set in the mid to late 2100s I was wondering if the older songs they're listening to will include songs that are relatively new for us as of now? -when does this occur? Like you mentioned they're in their first year, and its after they've moved into the dorms but it's nearing the summer of next year, so is it after the war arc, or after the events of bnha entirely? Just wanted to ask! Thank you for the update!!<3 - brie-is-cheesy
Okay these are FAB questions and honestly I can't give you a straight answer to all of them!
Here's the background: So this story started out as a one shot - this past year, Shoto hasn't been one of my main MHA favorites. When I started the Red Riot Unbreakable Heart blog, my goal was to focus on what I've been calling "My Big Three." This includes Kirishima (lol thus my username), Hakws, and Hitoshi Shinsou (I love me an emo man). I was sprinkling in smutty one shots here and there involving other characters (ex. BakuDeku Smut: Hooking Up At A Pro Hero Gala and Beneath the Bookshelves | BakuDeku ). Shoto was one of those random one offs that I was like, huh why not!? But then I published Shoto's First Kiss (Part One) this one shot about Reader x Shoto totally took off in a way I wasn't expecting. Shoto resonates a lot with you all and the more I started writing for him, the more I grew to love him. He's so complex and in need of love and care. He has so much capacity for love!! I wanted to explore that more and figure out how he would act in his first encounters with intimacy and relationships. So I kept posting chapters, and started plotting out this wild story!
Timeline: When I started writing the one shot, I wanted the story to ambiguously take place in the 2nd or 3rd year when the characters were a little older. I was kind of working it in an AU where the war had vaguely happened and was over but everyone is okay and no one was injured/died/had their quirk impacted by AFO. In the context of Shoto's First Kiss chapter one - the war doesn't matter (at least if you re-read it I hope you don't find any plot holes mentioning the war!?). Also I have tried to say "Class A" instead of "Class 1A" because as I wrote more chapters, I still hadn't figured out what year we are in here.
Now that we're world building and have a more fleshed out story, here's what I'm thinking. Bare with me, we are going to need to suspend some disbelief here and I might need to go back and make some tweaks to previous chapters to keep everything in line with this line of thinking. But let's say this:
Timeline: The timeline takes place in the character's 1st year. I just combed through this timeline of MHA that someone put together on Reddit. I'm thinking this likely takes place at the end of Term 1. Final exams are coming up, and the students have heard a little about the training camp. Most of the MHA events so far are probably cannon in my fic universe, unless otherwise mentioned. The great thing for me is - most of MHA is in the context of Izuku's experiences, so there's a lot of wiggle room in the timeline for what could be happening between Shoto x The Reader. I haven't decided if the current chapters take place before or after Shoto/Izuku/Ida's encounter with Stain, because I can see some interesting plot points coming from that. I'll think about it!! This may change, but for purposes of continuity I think this could work as I move forward with my plotting!
Age: All the characters are at least 16. Let's just roll with that and take some creative liberties here. I'm aging everyone up.
The Dorms: In this fic universe, I pictured the students moving into the dorms at the start of the year. Like the dorms are just part of the normal UA experience - for all intents and purposes it's a boarding school.
The Songs: Okay this is a really interesting idea! I am literally just putting in playlists of music I like right now, I didn't think much about modern music flowing into the story. Lol would Honenuki listen to BRAT!? Maybe. I love him and think of him as a sweet chill cinnamon roll of a dude, though. I think he would be scandalized by Guess Featuring Billie Eilish. Or maybe he'd love it. He'd def love Chappell Roan, though. Dude is a sloot for Red Wine Super Nova and I just know it!
The Vibe: @ all of my beloved readers - I realize that this story means a lot to people, and I love that!! Even though we explore complex and serious subject matter at times, this is still a goofy silly story that I write for fun! Please don't hold me to these ideas that I'm throwing out in a semi-public brainstorm. I am but a simple fanfic writer who churns out most of the Shoto pages at midnight after I work two jobs. Shoto's First Kiss is a project that I write purely for fun and to build community with other adult MHA fans. I'm not like going to publish this as a book or put it on Patr*on behind a paywall or something. So let's keep it light! That being said, I love interacting with everyone so if there are fun questions that you think would be interesting for me to answer in this story, let me know! I'm very open to hearing thoughts and considering new ideas here :)
Okay okay SORRY FOR SO MUCH INFO! Thanks again @brie-is-cheesy for being so thoughtful in your reading and for asking these great questions! This is def going to help me guide the next few chapters of the story as I plot things out and as we get a satisfying next chapter in The Party arc. I'm going to post this reply on my Master List so we can all keep track of it and come back to it easily if needed.
As always, thanks for reading!! Sending good vibes to all βΊοΈ
XOXO,

So I've been watching My Hero Academia and like
GOD ALL THE TODOROKI FAMILY BAGGAGE HURTS SO GOOD.
Like damn. What a complicated situation. I love that all the kids are handling things differently. I've already figured out the (obvious) Touya twist and BOY do I hope we get a reverse Darth Vader moment with that.
But also like. Fuck Endeavor with a rusty spork. He's a terrible terrible person. But gosh what a good character. That contrast between being a Great Hero and a Terrible, Abusive Father is a deeply compelling story, is definitely a part of how the show interrogates the idea of heros and the complexities around a society and culture of heros and villains.
We already see that complexity with All Might, and how by becoming a Symbol of Peace he's made it so he can't do anything but destroy his own body and still try to put on the smiling face for the public, and when he forcibly can't do that that anymore, for a few moments, the public turns on him, until he shows he's /still/given all of himself for the "Greater Good". Which is heartbreaking, and fascinating, I hope between him and Deku we get to examine that dynamic a bit more.
But that's like.....the needs of an individual being put aside for the expectations of society and how by being There for Everyone All The Time, All Might unintentionally became part of a system that can't really survive without him, so he can never leave, until he's forced to, and the plot becomes how society deals with that sudden lose of security.
With Endeavor, it's like. How do you come to terms with the duality of this person. He's saved so many lives, and in doing so, in his status rising because of his heroics, he turns around and commits atrocities. But it's not so much society forcing him into a corner like I think All Might is. Yeah societal expectations of heros probably played some part, but I think the larger part is the narrative pointing out how Endeavor's own drive, while I think coming from an initially good place, is corrupted by his own way of viewing the world.
We know he cares for people, he clearly can manage that on wider, impersonal scale. But he can't, or doesn't, apply that to his own family, because his own drive and desire to Be Better Than All Might outweighs everything else when he's not out in hero mode, thus: a Good Hero and at the same time, an Abusive Asshole Father.
And I like that, at least so far, the characters and the narrative won't let him forget that! Even as he tries to "fix things", I like how, as far as his family is concerned, he can't! He can try, but Natsuo and Shota, and even Fuyami, have no reason to trust him, and even less to forgive him, and I like that they say that! Like, good! I'm glad he's trying to be better, but fuck him!
AND I like that we see Shota seeing that juxtaposition of Good Hero v Terrible Father. I love that scene where he straight up says, "Don't pretend to be a good parent in front of my friends. I'm here for Endeavor, not Enji ((that's his name right?)) Todoroki, and I'm only here because it will benefit me and my training."
I don't entirely know where I'm going with this but it's all just! Such a good story! And there are so many other bits I could ramble on about (Fucking!!!! Bakugo???? Listen, as someone who was bullied for uhhhhh most of my pre-uni school life, if this were real I'd have OPINION. But it's NOT it's FICTION and GOD Bakugo and Izuku and their fucked up co-dependant situationship delights me, what delicious storytelling!!!) but I'm currently watching the Todoroki Backstories episodes of season 5 and ANNOYED (Read: delighted, again this narrative is WORKING SO WELL) that I'm so invested in Endeavor and his painfully slow realization of just how badly he fucked up!
Anyway, I'm gonna need so Todoroki Family Time Travel Fix-It aus please, because I want Rei and All Her Children to not get Backstory Trauma, so if anyone has recs (or like. MHA recs in general) HMU!

Just got done with reading your "How To Do a Dark Deconstruction of your Shonen Hero" post, first off amazing work as always! As much as it pains me to hear (good faith, non-reactionary and well thought-out) criticism due to having gotten into MHA in middle school when I was impressionable and attached onto works quicker than I do, it was satisfying to hear someone as well-worded as yourself put into words a thought that I had. For a while I could only summarize it by thinking "Man MHA sure does feel toothless and inconsistent about what it delivers on, and what ideas or themes or messages or what have you are left in the fridge and forgotten about."
It was also fun to hear about Yu-Gi-Oh! GX, growing up YGO was only ever a game some of my friends played or "HEART OF THE CARDS" and Kaiba memes, so hearing that there was a lot more to the series was a welcome surprise, even if quite anecdotal on my part.
As for the question part of this ask, near the middle of it you brought up how despite being quite captivated with the idea and the final result, you weren't as impressed with how YGO got there, and vice versa with MHA in how it was paced better but so far(let me have a little bit of hope lol) ultimately hasn't made good on it's "storytelling promise" if you will.
With the preface that no story is "perfect" along with the fact that everyone has their own interests, biases, icks, etc., I wanted to ask if there was a story which in your opinion, that blends proper pacing and build-up, with proper follow-up and payoff? I had the idea of deconstructing the perfect shonen protag or similar character in mind, but I'm also curious to hear about other ideas as well if you have them.
PS Thanks again for writing and posting these. They're often the highlight of my day when I remember to get around to reading them. And apologies for this long-ass ask hehe.
If you want a shonen series with similiar themes of "saving the villains" as MHA and Season 3 of Yu-Gi-Oh GX! but better pacing, buildup, payoff and overall story structure then both manga then I strongly reccomend another Yu-Gi-Oh series, Yu-Gi-Oh Zexal.
To begin with as a disclaimer I think Yu-Gi-Oh, but especially the spinoffs post 5DS get a bad reputation. For several reasons, the dub, but also the Duel Monsters anime adaptation is kind of bad. A lot of people forget that Yu-Gi-Oh! started out as a very dark urban fantasy, or just the fact that it runs in the same magazine as MHA and JJK. Once you get over the fact that it revolves around card games, Yu-Gi-Oh is as much of a battle shonen as MHA or JJK.
If you give Zexal a chance, it has everything MHA promised us. A conflict where there's really no heroes and villains, a story about what it means to save people, and a protagonist who wants to save everyone.
Yu-Gi-Oh no Cristo!
If you want to take my word for it that Zexal is good, and avoid spoilers then don't read any further. However, I thought I'd demonstrate HOW Zexal tackles the same themes that My Hero Academia tried to tackle.
I'm going to limit this analysis to Zexal I, because while Zexal II is superior in every way I don't want to spoil the whole darn show. Zexal deconstructs the idea of what it means to save others, by having the central conflict in its first season focus on several different factions where no side is the clear good guy. it also tackles the theme of "revenge", and how no character's revenge is justified no matter how wounded they are.
Zexal has three main characters, Yuma, Kaito, and Shark. The latter two are deuteragonist, and tritagonist respectively, and vacillate between being rivals and outright antagonists. If you wanted a story where Shigaraki post My Villain Academy was basically given deuteragonist status alongside Deku then this is the story for you. From her on out I'm going to focus on the cycle of revenge and also the intertwining arcs of Yuma, Shark and Kite and how these characters develop the themes.
Before I get to the World Duel Carnival, I would be amiss to mention that Zexal has a faster start then any Yu-Gi-Oh anime barring 5DS. The introductory arc is episodic in nature, but it does two things really well, first establishing Yuma as a character and second laying the groundwork for both Shark and Kaito showing they are human beings with their own motivations even when they act as antagonists to Yuma. World Duel Carnival starts at 27, but in my opinion the real conflict starts in episode 33 with the introduction of the Tron Family.
In comparison My Hero finishes the Stain arc around episode 33, so I'd say they equally have as strong a start, and both works have introduced their main trio in that time.
With the Tron Family the secondary antagonists of the season we're finally introduced to the season's main confict of revenge. There are four factions and I'm going to take the time to explain each one's motivation before digging in deeper.
The conflict starts with the parents of the three main characters, Lord Byron Arclight (who will later return as Tron), Dr. Faker, and Kazuma Tsukumo. The three of them were studying alternate dimmensions together when Dr. Faker betrayed his two close friends. Kazuma and Lord Byron were dropped into an alternate dimmension as sacrifices to open the door between dimmensions. Kazumi did his best to try to save himself and Lord Byron, but he was unsuccesful and they both dropped out of the world.
Arclight wandered around between dimmensions, until he was eventually saved by the Barian world, a world of pure chaos kind of like the flipside of our world. However, his salvation came with a cost he was reverted from an adult man to a ten year old's body, and he also lost half of his face which is now a black hole (it's weird I'm not sure how that happened). The only thing that sustained Tron was the idea of getting revenge against Dr. Faker and now that he's returned he's determined to have it.
Tron had three sons, Michael, Thomas and Christopher. Which he renames III, IV, and V because he can't be bothered to remember their names I guess. Tron was once a very loving father and left his children behind on what was supposed to be a temporary research trip. However, their father apparently died, and Christopher the oldest was not old enough to take custody so III and IV were sent to different orphanages. At the same time Christopher was broken-hearted to learn that the man who killed his father, was the father of his student and close friend Kaito Tenjo, and ended that relationship for those reasons.
With the return of Tron the family was allowed to be back together with a now older Christopher taking custody of his brothers and now parenting his ten year old father (which is hilarious by the way). However, Tron distorted by the Barian world and his desire for revenge now uses his sons as tools in his revenge scheme against Dr. Faker. All three sons comply on the thin hope that if they complete their father's revenge, he will go back to being loving Byron Arclight. The Tron Family is a family united by revenge, but also defined by an intense family loyalty to each other, both as siblings, and to their father. While their father may not deserve it, all three sons love him deeply and would do anything to try to save him.
IV: You can't trust me that much. Just because I can't become an obedient servant to you like III and V. IV: But even so...I still also...for your sake. IV: Dad, you always smiled gently in the past. IV: But... after you returned from the parallel world it's like you had an entirely different personality. IV: Despite that we were still willing to follow you, Tron. Shark: Stop pretending to be a victim. Shark: Even if you were being used, I won't forgive you for what you did.
Which dovetails nicely into the conflict between Shark and IV. IV, obeying his father's orders challenged Shark's sister to a duel in a building that later blew up. He knew about the first part, but not the second, but still is somewhat responsible despite his ignorance. He did his best to save Shark's sister from the flames getting scarred in the process, but she was left comatose.
Soon after, IV engineered Shark's disgrace as a duelist, by purposefully letting his cards fall on the ground so Shark could see them during a tournament so he'd be disqualified for taking a peek.
All of these under his father's orders to turn Shark into yet another tool of revenge against Dr. Faker, as a wildcard to be pointed in Faker's direction. IV further antagonizes him by giving him a Numbers Card knowing that the darkness of the Numbers card will soon possess him in order to further his father's scheme. He also just wants to flat out defeat Shark so he can prove to his father he's more useful.
Shark looks like the clear victim in this situation, but his complete lack of sympathy for IV is total hypocrisy. Because, Shark is also only after revenge for what was done to him and his sister. Shark was hurt by IV's revenge, but Shark will also attack completely innocent people, including Yuma, just to get his revenge against IV. Shark is the aggrieved victim, but he fights only for revenge not to save someone and he just does not care for anyone other than his sister, himself and Yuma to an extent. Unlike IV, who has the added motivation of saving someone, and also is self-aware that he did something wrong that he can't take back.
Shark is very much a case of "well, my revenge is different from your revenge" somehow, and it makes him look like a hypocrite. Which is why Shark wavers between being an anti-hero and an anti-villain, because in spite of his mroe heroic qualities and his friendship with Yuma he pretty consistently is only motivated to duel for revenge and not for saving others like Yuma is and the show is clear on it's themes of "there is no such thing as a justified revenge."
Shark does not get his revenge, in fact the same way IV is manipulated to pointing his anger at Shark, Shark gets manipulated by Tron to pointing all of his anger at Yuma. Yuma basically has to act as the punching bag, in order to try to calm Shark down again and in Shark's own words even if you were being used, I won't forgive you for what you did.
Shark won't forgive IV, but he ends up committing the exact same unforgivable acts, and by his own logic manipulation is not an excuse.
Now that we've introduced Shark as the wildcard, the last faction is Dr. Faker's. Kaito and Dr. Faker both are fighting to save Haruto, Faker's second son and Kaito's little brother. Here is the twist with Dr. Faker's betrayal he's presented as a "I did everything for power" type of villain, but he's actually doing everything to save his son from dying and is willing to backstab his closest friends to do so, and turn his son Kaito into a pawn. There's an added layer of complication where Dr. Faker is legitimately using his son as a pawn, but much like the Tron Siblings, Kaito is also willing to comply because saving Haruto is just as important to him.
Kaito is a numbers hunter who rips out the souls of people in order to reclaim numbers cards from them, something which ages them and leaves them completely comatose. Kaito also blatantly says on several occasions, he doesn't care how many people he has to hurt to save his brother. So Kaito's motivations aren't revenge like Tron's, but he's also just as willing to get innocent people involved. He even attacks Shark once who didn't even have a number card, simply for GETTING IN THE WAY when he was trying to steal Yuma's key.
Kaito's not just an "I'll do anything to save my brother" type of character, he actively does not care about how many victims he creates along the way.
KAITO: You're wrong. Just one person matters to me. I only care about Hart.
And he sure does mean that. His own allies? Don't matter. His former friend Christopher? Doesn't care. Yuma who actively wants to save Hart too? Get out of the way bucko.
YUMA: Kaito, Droite fought desperately against Tron for your sake. YUMA: Droite liked y- KAITO: That's none of your concern.
Kite's obsession with saving his brother is all-consuming, and even ignores that Haruto does not want Kaito hurting himself for his sake, because it is just as much about Kaito as it is about Haruto.
Kaito also clashes with V from the Tron Family, and is deeply hurt by the fact that V will make punching bags out of both Kite and Haruto in order to get revenge against their father.
However, Kaito who has at this point put several people in comas in order to save his brother (the exact same motivation V has for his father and two younger brothers) is a complete hypocrite in this regard.
V: Friend you say? V: But that ideal was completely wrecked by Dr. Faker. V: Could you forgive that person's son? V: When I realized the truth, I... KAITO: Enough of this nonsense.
I'm sure none of the people Kaito put in comas had brothers, and they all kicked puppies when no one was looking. Even after Kaito realizes that Christopher was only trying to save his family the same way that he was, and promises to inherit his feelings, he forgets all about that when dueling Tron.
Kaito's one and only loss in the whole series comes from when he loses himself to revenge against Tron after he provoked him one too many times by tormenting Haruto. Once again, no matter what the reason revenge is never justified in Yu-Gi-Oh Zexal!
Tron: You're right I have no emotions. Droite and Shark... I was willing to even use my sons in order to create rage. Kaito: Say what? Tron: You did pretty well, too! You get angrier and angrier when it comes to Haruto. It's all thanks to you, have a look.
As much as Kaito would like to make a martyr of himself, he is just like the Tron siblings, just like Shark, an angry little kid lashing out against innocent people for the pain both him and his brother has suffered. Even kaito who has the most explicit desire to save someone, succumbs to revenge in the end when he's pushed.
The tragedy of season 1 is that basically every faction involved has a case of "my revenge is more important than your revenge, and my loved ones are more important than your loved ones". Even though both the Tron Family, and Kaito are fighting to save their families, neither of them ever backs down or considers the other side's motivations because THEIR PAIN is more important.
The last faction of the story is Yuma's, and as stated above Yuma is the only one who attempts to see his opponent's side. Yuma's central motto is "if we've dueled each other, then we're already friends." He also believes that duels should never be used as tools for hurting each other, something Shark, Kaito and the Tron Family all gleefully do in their conflict against one another.
Yuma is a deconstructoin of the "save everyone" because while he is involved in the conflict too because he lost his father to Dr. Faker, unlike the other three factions he has a support system. He still has his grandmother and sister, childhood friends, friends at school and Astral.
This fact is explicitly called out in his duel against III who by that point Yuma considers a friend. III spends a day with Yuma, bonding with him over their shared love of archaelogy, seeing his family and home life, only to turn against him.
Yuma tries to reach out to III the entire time through the duel and talk him down, and it doesn't work because Yuma with his support system, cannot truly understand where III is coming from and the desperation that drives him. Yuma's not caught in the same rock and hard place that III is, and all the sympathy and good intentions in the world cannot overcome the difference between that.
Yuma also in spite of his desire to solve things peacefully is basically forced to still fight, because if he loses a duel his close personal friend Astral will die, so it's actively a challenge for him to seek the third way to settle things without contributing to the cycle of revenge.
So Yuma represents the correct path, forgiveness and understanding the other's point of view, but it also shows that Yuma is able to do that because unlike everyone else he has a support system. Yuma is not internally more good than Shark, Kite, or the rest. He's just in a place where he can afford to look at the other people's perspectives because he's not desperately fighting for survival.
It's also a challenge for him to do so, because Yuma is someone very immature. As I said with III he does not understand the depths of what they are feeling even if he wants to make the pain go away. He tries to offer his unwavering support to people, but he fails just as often as he succeeds due to his immaturity.
In Yuma's case it's less being a perfect hero, but rather making an unrelenting effort to help others and offer a hand that matters. Yuma's character development in season 1 for me crystallizes in his final redemption of Tron, the character besides Faker who makes him the most angry because of his gleeful abuse of his sons for the sake of revenge. Not only does Yuma start to get through to Tron at points in the duel, because he tries so hard to make Tron understand how much he's hurt his sons, but at the end of the duel he mirrors his father's own action of trying to save both himself and Byron Arclight I mentioned at the beginning of this post.
Yuma: I won't give up! Tron: But why? Why are you trying to save me? Yuma: It's obvious, isn't I? Everyone I duel are my friends. Yuma: I don't understand all that complicated stuff, but we create bonds through dueling. And since you dueled me you are my friend. Tron: I finally understand. Your dueling goes beyond my desire for revenge. Yuma I can't live the same way as you and Kazuma, but I can't let Dr. Faker go either. I'll release all the souls I captured.
Yuma does represent the themes of love, and understanding being the only way to heal revenge (because more revenge does not fix anything) but he's not just propped up as a saint by the narrative. He's a character who has to go through serious character development before he's finally able to back up his good intentions with actual concrete action.
Yuma isn't just good internally, but rather his constant efforts to find the third path, and befriend other people is what makes him the hero of the story. Yuma is Deku done right and I will stand by this.
I hope I've been able to demonstrate the themes of Zexal, and I would be amiss to mention this is just Zexal I. Zexal II the second season does all of this even better. The Barians are an even better version of the League of Villains because despite starting a war with the main characters, they are all sympathetic and their point of view is just as valid as Astral and Yuma's. I don't want to spoil Zexal II though, so if anything about Zexal I caught your eye I reccomend watching both series.

I started reading my hero academia back in 2017 and I just- I can't believe it's over.
Hirokoshi deserves a nice break after this and I look forward to whatever he brings next. I mean I'm holding out that we'd get a continuation of MHA. Obviously Izuku's story is over but I feel there's so much potential for more. That's more of a selfish hope as I'm just no ready to let go of the characters. But again though I'm looking forward to whatever his future works are.

DEATH
[MHA PORTALS Series 1/16]
pairing. katsuki bakugo x gn!reader
synopsis. after an argument, bakugo sadly lost you in a tragic accident.
cw. aged up, prohero!bakugo, angst, death, bakugo is in grief, bakugo feels remorse.
a/n. i'm starting my first masterlist. in dedication to melanie martinez's new album! i'm starting a portals series with mha characters! each character will have a story based on the songs in order (including the deluxe track). this is not my idea so credit to @katimagines since they were the ones who came up with it (but with k-12) I hope you like death with katsuki bakugo, I will be making more soon. enjoy!
Sounds of beeping could be heard in the bedroom.
"Fuckβ¦" Katsuki grumbled as he reached his hand out to turn off the alarm on his phone, clearly annoyed that his alarm disturbed his slumber.
But he can't complain, he's a pro hero, and he has to get up early and work. He sat up from his bed and stretched his arms, yawning. He then reached into his nightstand to check his phone, checking the time, and then he looked at the dateβ¦
November 8thβ¦
As soon as he saw that, he felt a chill go down his spine. God, that date. Why did it have to exist?Β
"Shitβ¦already? This is a fucking nightmare"
He looks over to the photo frame that was also on his nightstand. It was a picture of him and you at a carnival. It was taken while you guys were on the Ferris wheel, with you smiling so innocently while he on the other hand raised his middle finger, the bright lights in the background making you two glow like a glowstick.
Man, that felt like forever ago, he wished he could go back to those days. But unfortunately, that wish would most likely never come true. You had died in an unfortunate accident, that was something that made Bakugo crack. He never was the same since. He remembers the day so vividly.
You two had gotten into an argument that day. It was late at night, and you were cleaning in the kitchen when suddenly Bakugo burst through the front door, his costume was ripped up and he was dirty. He was panting as if he ran so fast to get to your guy's home that you both share. You offered him some help but he shoved you away, claiming that he could clean up himself. You simply brushed it aside and let him do his business while you continued to clean up the kitchen.
After you got done, you made dinner for both you and Bakugo, you figured that he was done getting freshened up so you went to your shared bedroom to tell him. You find him on his desk doing some paperwork.
"Hey Kats, I made dinner. The food is on the tab-"
"Just bring it here" He suddenly said, eyes glued to the paper he was doing.
"Are you sure you don't wanna eat it with me?" You question, feeling saddened that your boyfriend doesn't want to eat together with you.
"Yes, I'm sure," He responded. You gave in and gave him his food, setting it on the desk. You watched as he grabbed his chopsticks and ate the food while still keeping his eyes on the paper. He didn't even spare a glance at you when you entered the room or when you offered him food. You ended up sitting at the dinner table alone, eating the food you made for yourself.
Something like this always happens just recently. He would prioritize his hero work over you. Not giving you enough attention or appreciation when you do something for him. You figured it was just his busyness which is probably the reason why he barely acknowledges you. I mean being the number two hero is not easy. However, it still bothered you how much he has been neglecting you, so you decided to calmly talk about it to him, that somehow escalated into a full-blown argument.
"ALL I'M ASKING IS FOR YOU TO TAKE A LITTLE BREAK AND GIVE ME SOME LOVE FOR A LITTLE WHILE"
"THE HELL ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT?! I DO GIVE YOU SOME LOVE"
"YOU BARELY SPARED A GLANCE AT ME WHEN I GAVE YOU YOUR FOOD. I SWEAR YOU LET BEING A PRO HERO TAKE OVER YOUR LIFE SO MUCH SO THAT YOU DON'T EVEN ACKNOWLEDGE YOUR OWN PARTNER!"
"WELL, WHAT DID YOU EXPECT? I'M THE NUMBER TWO HERO, OF COURSE, IT'S GOING TO BE MY LIFE"
"BUT YOUR LIFE IS MORE THAN BEING A HERO. YOU'RE IN A RELATIONSHIP WITH A WONDERFUL PERSON WHO WOULD LITERALLY SCRATCH YOUR BACK FOR YOU. I DID EVERYTHING FOR YOU AND INSTEAD OF APPRECIATING ME, YOU FLAT-OUT IGNORED ME. I CLEAN YOUR WOUNDS YOU IGNORED ME, I COOK YOU FOOD YOU IGNORED ME, I CLEAN THE HOUSE YOU IGNORED ME. WHAT AM I? YOUR S/O OR YOUR SERVANT?!"
"YOU'RE MY S/O, OF COURSE, WHAT KIND OF QUESTION IS THAT?"
"IF THAT'S HOW YOU SEE ME THEN HOW COME YOU DON'T ACT LIKE IT?!" Tears began to well up in your eyes.
"I'M SORRY BUT I'M NOT SEEING WHAT YOUR PROBLEM IS?!"
"I JUST EXPLAIN WHY I HAVE A PROBLEM! SEE, THIS IS ANOTHER THING. YOU DON'T LISTEN!"
"WELL, WHAT THE HELL DO YOU WANT ME TO DO?!"
"PAY MORE ATTENTION TO ME, IT IS NOT THAT HARD!!"
"YOU KNOW WHAT Y/N, YOU'RE SO SELFISH! YOU KNOW DAMN WELL HOW MUCH BEING A HERO MEANS TO ME AND YOU OBVIOUSLY DON'T GIVE A FUCK ABOUT IT"
"...Are you serious? Are you actually kidding me? You're seriously blaming me? I never thought you could stoop this low" Your voice cracks up as you finally break and started crying.
"You know Katsuki, I always saw the better in you when others didn't. I helped you with your anger issues and I helped you assist at the agency. I am heartbroken that this is what I get in return. Unappreciated and unloved"
You then grabbed your jacket from the coat rack and opened the front door.
"Where are you going?"
"I'm going for a walk to clear my head, I just want to be alone for a while" Was all you said before walking out and closing the door. Little did you know that those were going to be your last words. A minute later, the sounds of screaming struck Bakugo's ears. He rushed to the window and gave it a little peak, only to see a car parked in the middle of the road and your body in a pool of blood.
Time felt like it stop for Bakugo as he saw that you were not moving, his blood ran cold as he feared that the worst had happened. Without thinking twice, he ran out into the cold night without his jacket and rushed to your body. A woman was standing by her car, her face in pure horror as she realized what she had done.
"I'm so sorry! They came out of nowhere and I didn't have time to break!"
The woman was apologizing profusely, but Bakugo tuned her out. He was more focused on you. He held your bloody body with his two arms, he checked your pulse, he couldn't feel itβ¦
At the hospital, the doctors confirmed it, you were dead. Bakugo almost felt like he was about to have a heart attack. He wanted to yell and scream at the doctors for lying. But he couldn't let it out, it was like the words he wanted to say were stuck in his throat.Β
At the funeral, he kept convincing himself that this had to be some sort of hallucination or nightmare he was enduring, but unfortunately, he was not. He was in reality. The funeral was lit with candles and fresh flowers decorated your tombstone, the setting was beautiful for such a somber occasion. Everyone mourned your loss and said their prayers, while Bakugo stood there, wearing his best suit, clutching a fake candle in his hand, trying his hardest not to break down into tears. When it was finally over and he got into his car, he just let it out.
He let all of the emotions he'd been holding in for so long finally be shown at a dimly lit parking lot. Not only was he saddened that you were dead, but he also felt guilty. He blamed himself for getting you killed. He felt like a terrible boyfriend. This wouldn't have happened if he just didn't let his anger get the better of him. Damn, why did he have to start an argument? Why did he have to be so hard-headed? You were right, he never listens, and now thanks to him, you were gone, forever.
5 years later and Bakugo was still in deep sorrow. Every time Kirishima and the rest of the Bakusquad wanted to hang out with him, he would shut them out. How could he do anything when you weren't around anymore? His friends tried everything to comfort him, but he was inconsolable.Β
Slowly getting up, he went inside the bathroom to take a quick shower. He then made himself breakfast and put on his hero suit. He then went outside to unlock his car but not before locking the door to his house, he put the keys into the ignition, turned on the car, and drove off.
He stops by the flower shop to pick some flowers for your grave. He entered the store and the first thing his eyes set on was a set of white calla lilies. You've always liked Calla lilies, especially the white ones as you believe that it was a symbol of rebirth and resurrection. In fact, you believed in a lot of shit, such as how you believed that there was life after death and reincarnation. Bakugo always called you weird for that but secretly, he found you quite interesting. As soon as he saw those flowers, he knew he had to get those for you, after all, it's the least he could do after what he's done.
He paid for the flowers and got back in his car and drove his way to the cemetery. Walking through the site, he passed by all the other tombstones of the citizens of Japan, eyes only focusing on the one tombstone that was the shape of a heart, with your name carved into it. Approaching your grave, he kneels down to his knee and places the flowers by your tombstone. Then he just sat there, in the grass, reading what was carved in it.
"Y/Nβ¦" He spoke out.
"I know I've said this a hundred times but, please forgive me for that night. I didn't mean to neglect you. It's just, work has been so hectic these days. Villains are out there doing their fucking crimes, I had a shit load of paperwork, it was all hell. But that doesn't excuse me for rarely giving you any attention, I'm sorry for making you feel like you're being unappreciated. You didn't deserve that. Please take these flowers as an apology and if you can hear me, show me a sign that you forgive me"
Just then, his phone began to ring. He checked it to see it was his secretary.
"Yes?"
"Sorry if I interrupt anything Mr. Bakugo but I must remind you that you have an interview with Mx. Yuno for the assistant position today"
Crap, he completely forgot about that.
"Alright, I'll be there in 15 minutes. Let Mx. Yuno know in case they come early"
"Gotcha! I'll see you later, Mr. Bakugo"
The call ended and Bakugo took one last look at your grave.
"I love you, Y/N"
And just like that, he went back into his car and drove away.
ββββββββββββββββββββββββββββββββββββββ
Bakugo sat in his office, waiting for his interviewee to arrive. They called to tell him that they would be a few minutes late due to heavy traffic and Bakugo did some work on his computer to pass some time. Just then, he heard a knock on his door.Β
"Come in"
His secretary peeked her head through the door.
"Good Morning Mr. Bakugo, I am just here to let you know that Mx. Yuno is here"
"Alright, bring them in"
The secretary then left, leaving the door cracked open. Seconds later, she comes back.
"Here he is, good luck"
He heard the secretary say before closing the door, leaving Bakugo with his interviewee. Bakugo didn't even look at them as he was busy organizing the papers.
"Please excuse me for a moment, I need to keep everything in place"
"Sure, no problem"
Bakugo took a little peak at his interviewee and his eyes went wide.
They looked exactly like his late s/o, every facial structure looked the same, your eyes, your nose, your mouth, your ears, they even have your eye color. The only difference was your hair as it was a different color.
"Is everything okay?"
Bakugo snapped out of it. He must've stared at them for a little too long, but how could he not when the person he is interviewing is the exact replica of you.
"Uh, yeah. Sorry, you kind of remind me of someone I know. Let's get this interview started"
ββββββββββββββββββββββββββββββββββββββ
After about an hour and 40 minutes the interview was over.
"I will need time to review your answers, you should get your results in about a week or two, thank you for coming, you have a nice day"
Yuno gets up from their seat and begins to walk to the door. Bakugo couldn't help but look at them, so much of Yuno reminded him of you, he wonders if this is just a coincidence or you just have a twin you never mentioned before.
He stops what he is doing and begins to do some paperwork he never finished untilβ¦
"Also, Mr. Bakugoβ¦"
He looks up from his papers and sees Yuno halfway out the door.
"I forgive youβ¦"

Hello.
I was wondering if I can have some Headcannons of Aizawaβs s/o who comes super closer of Eri, and wants toοΏΌ legally adopt her as their child? οΏΌ
Yo! Long time no request. Sorry if I deviated a little from what you requested with this story. I ended up following what my mind suggested while writing. Anyway, I hope this satisfies you! :)
β’ Requests are open normally again. I usually take a long to write, because I always try to set a scene along with the headcanons. So I apologize in advance for the delay. 'Till next time!
.
LITTLE FAMILY
Request | Masterlist
Dynamics: DadZawa & Eri Γ S/O GN!reader
Fandom: BNHA | MHA Words: +2,9K
Categories: SFW, fluff, romance, home life, family dynamics. CW: None significantly worth the mention.
Informs: Hizashi appears as an extra. The word "Maddy" is used as a gender-neutral alternative to replacing the nouns "mommy" or "daddy." Feel free to read it as you please.
β’ Aizawa would be flattered. He would not show it to you at first, but you would eventually pick on some things he would do absently;
β’ Like when you are reading to Eri on her bed, and he quietly approaches the room to check on both of you. His lips would turn upwards every so slightly every time you turned to him with shining eyes to tell him Eri slept with her head on your lap;
β’ It was so heartwarming how she was finally opening up to you. It took a long, but now that she trusted you enough to sleep in your presence, it made all the wait worth it;
β’ You were already Aizawaβs significant other when they rescued the kid. He would vent to you about how troubled she seemed when he would get home after looking after her. And even though he would not say it, you could tell he genuinely cared and worried for Eri's well-being;
β’ It took time for both of you to be introduced to each other. And it took even more time for Eri to stop hiding away from you;
β’ When she first started living with Aizawa, his relationship with you turned into something a lot bigger than before and a lot harder too;
β’ But Eri was increasingly accepting you more and more. You three were becoming a true family, and you could not pretend like anything had changed by now, not after the events of today.
- - - - -
Aizawa had long left for work. The morning was still quiet from the rowdyism of the outside, and you were alone at his apartment with Eri, the little girl burrowed in between your legs with her back turned toward you as you both sat on the floor, your fingers brushing through her soft hair as you neatly tangled the strands into a braid.
You liked being there, and you liked Eri too. You loved this feeling of peace that followed each morning, and as you became so caught up with this comfortable sensation, you were almost startled when the kid turned her head away from the cartoon passing on the tv to look at you.
"Maddy, can I ask you something?" She said suddenly, cautiously trying to get a glimpse of your expression from the weird angle. You paused your brushing for a second. What had she called you just now?Β
You thought for a moment and came blank before a smile tugged at your lips. Looking down at the kid, you met with a pair of shy; yet big, pleading eyes. "Yes. Of course, Eri. What is it?"
The little girl smiled and looked down sheepishly, her small hands clenched tightly in her lap, fiddling with each other like she always does when she is nervous.
"Why do you go away?" She asked quietly, biting her lip. Her voice sounded sad, and you instantly knew what she was asking. You would have to leave before lunchtime to work the next day, and you had your apartment to take care of too.
"Eriβ¦" You began softly, putting your hand under her chin, lifting it until she looked up at you again. "It is not because I don't like you or don't want you around, sweetheart."
Her brow furrowed. "Then why?"
You sighed. "I'm sorry, Eri. But I have a job that needs me and a house to watch. When we become adults, we have responsibilities that come with our jobs. Sometimes, we have no choice but to leave to attend to it. That doesn't mean I won't come back later, though." You smiled at her.
Eri nodded slowly. "I understand," she mumbled before turning back around. "I miss you when you go." She finished in a whisper, her hands returning to the same position they occupied a few moments ago as if nothing had happened.
You chuckled before leaning over and kissing the top of her head. "So do I." You said, giving the little girl a final squeeze before pulling away. "What do you say we take advantage of this time together to bake some cookies?" You tried cheering her again with a grin.
Eri immediately brightened. "Cookies! Let's make cookies!" She exclaimed, jumping from her spot on the floor as if you told her another stray cat was coming home.Β
You laughed as she grabbed your wrist and tried to lift you from your spot on the ground. "We have to bake plenty! Daddy will want some!" She shouted excitedly.Β
You gave her an affectionate pat before she dragged you down to the kitchen. "We'll call him when his break time comes once we have finished making them." You replied with a smile as she stopped at the fridge to turn around and nod enthusiastically at your comment.
"Mhm!"
- - - - -
"How are the cookies, Eri?" ShΕta asked the toddler over the video call.
She held one of her cookie halves in front of the camera as if it were an offering. "Yummy~!" She grinned before popping one in her mouth. Eri quickly swallowed it and then proceeded with the second.
"I bet they are! Good job, kiddo!" Hizashi praised her from somewhere behind ShΕta. His voice sounded distant, but you could tell he was smiling brightly by the tone of his voice.Β
A second passed before ShΕta's deep voice cut through the device again. "I hope there will be some left for me. They look good." He commented, his lips twisting up at one corner as he glanced at you.
Your mouth turned into a smile in response as your cheeks heated up. ShΕta was teasing you. He knew you were cooking for the two of them.
Eri giggled happily at the remark, and you felt yourself grin even more. Then, you rolled your eyes playfully, sticking your tongue out to the camera. "I'll eat everything." You teased, your voice filled with false bravado.
There was a snort, and you heard a peal of laughter coming from Hizashi, who seemed far more entertained by hearing your interaction.
"Of course, you will. We wouldn't want Eri getting a sugar rush now, would we?" Aizawa shot back in return, a twinkle in his eye.
At this, you could not help the giggle that escaped you, and you rolled your eyes again, more fondly this time, causing Eri to giggle as well as you.
"Well, I would better clean up the mess I made, then. Have fun with being teased by Hizashi." You said. "Let me know if there is any trouble, alright?"
Another laugh filtered through the speaker, and you were sure the corners of his eyes crinkled a bit as he grinned. "Will do. See you soon."
"Bye, dad!" Eri chirped happily, taking a bite off of another cookie, and before the connection shut, she was waving at the camera with a bright smile on her face, her eyes filled with adoration, love, and warmth.
- - - - -
Unfortunately, when ShΕta came home later that day, Eri had already fallen asleep against her own will. You were not surprised in the least. After all, a toddler needed her sleep. Besides, she had been awake for four hours after dinner and watching cartoons on the television.Β
You had already tucked her in bed when ShΕta entered the apartment, finding your sleeping self curled up on the couch with a blanket over you. Eri was not the only one that fell asleep unexpectedly after all.Β
He smiled fondly, shaking his head at the sight of you. And, after leaving his shoes, scarf, and bag at the door, he walked over and gently scooped you off the couch, cradling you carefully in his arms to take you toward his bedroom.
Before he had even started lowering you over his bed, however, you woke up from your slumber groggily. Your eyes widened at the sudden movement, and you squirmed uncomfortably in his hold as he laid you down on his bed.
"Sorry, kitten⦠Did I wake you?" He whispered, bending down and stroking your cheek.
You shook your head slightly. "Didn't fall asleep on purpose..." you murmured, frowning sleepily at him before mirroring his action and reaching up to caress his cheek. "I was waiting for you." You explained with a tired smirk, running your thumb over his lips before dropping your hand.
A gentle smile spread on his lips, his tender gaze never leaving yours. "Is that right?" The man whispered, leaning forward slowly before speaking again. "Go back to sleep, baby. I'll see you tomorrow, okay?" His breath tickled your skin, and ShΕta pressed his lips against yours briefly before placing another quick kiss on the tip of your nose.
He started to pull away to stand up, but before he could fully move, you reached up and wrapped your arm around his neck, pulling him down onto the bed beside you. He stumbled a little but managed not to fall on top of you and landed beside you with a soft thump.
His dark eyes stared at you in amusement, raising a brow inquisitively. "What's got into you?" He said, chuckling at your actions.
You frowned, your eyes fluttering closed for a moment as you took a deep breath, your lips curving upward in a small smile. "Can't I spend five minutes cuddling with my boyfriend without having any problem?" You murmured while resting your head on his chest.
Another chuckle rippled through his body, and you felt it against your cheek. "Sure." He murmured, running his hand softly down your spine before pressing another quick kiss on top of your hair.
With a content sigh, you nestled yourself closer, wrapping an arm around his torso, holding him close against you while his heart beat steadily beneath your cheek. It had become a habit whenever you slept over β even more than usual nowadays β and you loved every minute of it.
As far as you were concerned, you would spend your life like this with him. And suddenly, an ebullient thought popped into your mind.
"ShΕta?" You called, your voice muffled by his shirt. He hummed questioningly in response, and you lifted your head from his chest and looked up at his tired yet loving eyes.
"Eri called me 'maddy' today." You stated softly. Your words caused his features to change slightly, making him seem pensive. But he did not react negatively at all. Instead, he gently placed a hand behind your neck, bringing your face back into his chest.Β
He stroked your arm with the other hand before moving to kiss your brow softly. "Eri does call you that sometimes," he murmured, his fingers continuing their dance along your skin, moving in slow patterns, making you relax. "Well, at least when she's talking about you. She always refers to you like that to me. Don't mind it." He added before letting out a sigh.
You nodded once, and his hand finally stilled at your earlobe after trailing idle patterns across your skin. "It's justβ¦ something Eri calls you sometimes. I don't mind it either, though." He assured, his fingers moving to brush your cheek.Β
You exhaled a sigh, feeling the weight of the conversation settle on your shoulders β this was precisely why you had been avoiding talking about these things. You were not sure where it had come from, but somehow, Eri had caught you off guard.
So, you swallowed the lump you had in your throat to admit what you thought. "I liked it," you said quietly. His hand paused for a fraction of a second before it resumed its movements along your skin. "Really?" He inquired.
You nodded your head slowly in reply, feeling the muscles in your face starting to ache with the effort of keeping it neutral. Then, he stayed silent for longer than necessary before saying something else.
"Good," he voiced, "I'm fine with it."
This statement surprised you slightly, but you did not say anything about it, letting him continue with his movement along your shoulder blade and upper back. Then, he finally settled his hand on your side, and the room fell with a comfortable silence.
Soon, ShΕta's heartbeat was lulling you to sleep without you even realizing it, and despite your efforts to stay awake for a bit longer to enjoy each other's presence for a while, you both fell asleep quite fast.
About half an hour later, however, you were brought back to awakening with the door widening open.
"Maddy?" Eri asked shakily; tears you could not see due to the darkness in the room formed in her eyes, her bottom lip trembling slightly as a tiny whimper slipped past her lips, pleading for attention.
You quickly sat up in the bed, yanking ShΕta away from his slumber with the sudden movement, causing him to groan lowly.
"Eri? What happened?" You questioned, squinting your eyes at the small frame in the doorway, worry stamped on your face. "Did you have a bad dream?"
The little girl only hiccupped before nodding faintly. You immediately shifted, turning toward a sleepy-looking Aizawa, who blinked his eyes open before rubbing them, attempting to clear the drowsiness from sleep.
When he noticed that Eri had woken up, he pushed himself upright, propping himself against the pillows. "What happened?" He asked worriedly.Β
And instead of answering his question, you gently coaxed a "come here" to the kid, patting the space beside you on the bed so she could climb up between you.
She wasted no time climbing up, settling herself in your lap with her face buried into the crook of your neck, arms snaking around it before she began sniffling loudly. Then, you moved your arm downward over her legs, grabbing the blankets before pulling them up.Β
"Shush, now, dear. You are safe." You reassured the girl in your lap, running your hand soothingly through her hair. "Everything is alright. Go back to sleep, okay? We are here with you." You whispered.
She seemed appeased with your assurance and buried herself further into your embrace before closing her eyes again. You wrapped your free arm around her midsection, pulling her closer as you glanced at Aizawa, whose expression was frustratingly unreadable.Β
But he sighed heavily, moving an arm up to rest it over both of your middles, pulling you closer together. And without hesitation, you nestled into the warmth of the bed, closing your eyes as ShΕta ran a hand down your arm, coming up and grasping your hand tightly in his.
Your lips curved into a smile at the sight you caught yourself in: Eri had her arm tangled around your neck with her leg plopped over your hip, while Aizawa caged you both as you nestled together, which caused your heart to swell. It felt like home.
And after a few moments, Aizawa's eyes drifted shut as exhaustion claimed him. And soon, all three of you fell asleep holding each other.
When you opened your eyes to greet the next day, Aizawa was already awake, resting his head over an arm as he stared at the ceiling. Eri was sprawled in the middle of the bed, seeming peaceful in her slumber.
For a moment, you just watched them for a long time, smiling at the sight before you reached a hand towards the man. He seemed lost in thought as he kept staring blankly above him, so you traced the contours of his face silently with the back of your fingers to make him realize that you were awake.
A faint smile adorned his lips at the sensation. "Morning," he greeted, his voice low and hoarse.
"Morning." You replied, giving him a warm smile as his eyelids lowered. "Sleep well?" You inquired, your tone light as you moved your hand to run a finger down the length of his forearm, pausing at his wrist to rest your arm over the sleeping kid between you both.
A deep sigh left his mouth before he answered. "Yeah." His voice trailed off as he glanced at you, studying you intently for a moment. "Are you okay?" He questioned after a short pause, his eyes boring into yours. You smiled in response, nodding your head slightly.
"Didn't think you would take that well." He commented quietly, and you frowned. "Why wouldn't I? Eri is important enough for me. It does not matter what happens." You admitted quietly, unsure why you had confessed your feelings this easily.
"I know." He muttered. "I just... I never expected you would be okay with that." He added, lifting his arm off the pillow and stretching lazily. "And I never expected you would go out of your way to look after her all by yourself." He added with a sigh.
You shrugged, shifting your gaze down toward the sleeping girl. "Maybe I want to." You whispered, biting your lip at what you wanted to confess.Β
And without warning, his hand came up and cupped your face, his thumb brushing tenderly over your cheekbone. His expression softened, a small smile gracing his lips.
"I do, too." He said quietly before pressing a soft kiss against your forehead, dropping his hand onto the bed. He then turned his head slightly, glancing down at Eri. You followed his gaze for a few seconds, observing how peacefully she lay.
A soft chuckle escaped your lips before you shifted your eyes again and gazed directly into his own. "Do you think we will ever be a real family?" You breathed out quietly, taking him by surprise.
You knew he was not one for expressing his emotions very well, but you could tell that this question weighed heavily on his heart as much as it did in yours.
A soft smile spread on your lips before a small laugh slipped past you. "Who knows, I guess?" You shrugged nonchalantly, watching as the corners of his lips curled upwards slightly as well.
"Yeah... maybe. I hope so."

you don't have to respond to this if you don't want to, but--I saw you mentioning you felt stupid earlier and I'm going through the same feelings myself but I just wanted to say that your analysis of my hero academia was genuinely the best I'd ever seen after following the comic for almost an entire decade(I've been here since almost the beginning...). it's not your fault if the writing took a bizarre turn, you were correctly recognizing things about the story that was presented to you and I've really appreciated your presence ever since the first time I read one of your posts.
Thank you for your kind words, they really helped me feel better. I always enjoy reading your thoughts as well, so I hope you are able to feel better soon as well.
At any rate, I think I'm a bit calmer now-- At the risk of setting myself up for more heartbreak in two weeks, I really think there's no way for it not to be a fake out because Tenko dying sincerely is a failure on every level for so-so-so many characters and the story as a whole. Izuku wanted to redefine OFA as a power meant for saving not killing, yet OFA ends up killing Tenko anyway? We get a scene where the main villain literally mocks Tenko for having never been his own person and commands him to disappear, and he does?? Nana ultimately fails to save her family from AFO a third and final time??? The Yoichi expy is ultimately forced to die while tethered to his abuser and is never allowed to truly escape or live a life outside of AFO???? Spinner pushes himself to his absolute limit and Kurogiri sacrifices himself because they both want to save Tenko, and it ends up being all for nothing????? Toshinori never gets any resolution with his beloved mentor's sole remaining family and has to live with the pain of once again failing to save her legacy?????? Tenko wants to become a hero to the villains, to the LOV specifically, but dies while all of them are literally hanging on by a thread at this time???????? Gran Torino was right??????????? There's bittersweet endings and there's bleak endings, and this is absolutely bleak if true.
Like, I know death and rebirth are huge themes in MHA-- but this is a case where the overall build up and execution of the chapter has left much to be desired. Still, the fact that Tenko says the name "Shigaraki Tomura" in quotation marks in the raw text does lend to the idea that this is actually the death of his villain persona rather than the death of the individual-- my other big concern rn is how Tenko's rebirth will ultimately be executed, since he still asks Izuku to pass a message along to Spinner on his behalf. Like..... a resurrection that has him losing his memories of his life as Tomura, or reverting back to his young "untraumatized" self, obviously feels wrong for entirely different reasons-- but this is just speculation atp and I don't wanna get worked up over smthing that hasn't happened yet.
Tenko's ""death"" also shares explicit parallels to both Toshinori's and Katsuki's brushes with death, so I do think Hrkshi could make things come full circle in a satisfying way here-- if Tenko's death is the only one that actually sticks while the heroes are allowed to defy all odds and resurrect/be reborn as the best possible versions of themselves, then obviously there's no salvaging the story. But I wanna have faith.
(Side note: Tenko/Toshi/Katsuki's (and even Touya's) limbo scenes depict them as surrounded by light and "sharing" that infinite space with someone who sincerely wants them to live-- and these scenes are starkly contrasted with AFO's limbo scenes, where his moments before death all depict as him being surrounded by darkness while being mocked by the vestiges of his victims.)
Anyway!!! At my own peril, I'll be leaning hard into the "Tenko Shimura: Rising + quirk awakening + aura!might using his vestige and the remnants of OFA to fill in the gaps of the broken reconstruction quirk (thereby fulfilling Izuku's wish to turn OFA into a power that exists to save while also helping Tenko symbolically embrace that he has the power to do more than just destroy-- he can save the villains through creation, not destruction)" theories from this point forward.
#Hopefully everyone else will also feel a little better with time#if anything I'm kind of?? happy that so many people are dissatisfied and demanding better for tomura/tenko#i feel like the general fandom's reception to him respawing will be less divisive this way (/delusional)#sophie.txt#mha spoilers#ty for the ask!!!
