I'm Not The One For You
Azriel x Reader
Summary: Azriel has been stressed at work and decided to hit the bars with his brothers. He gets so drunk that he may have forgotten what his love looks like
Warnings: fluffy with some spicy implications
WC: 1.1k
*masterlist*
a/n: I've been writing some heavy things and needed a break. I hope yall enjoy this short fluffy piece! xx
The sound of heels clicking on cobblestone joined the myriad of sounds along the Sidra. The city was lively, and all types of music and chatter filled the crisp air in Velaris. As you got closer, the bass at Rita's was getting louder. You, Morrigan, Amren, and the Archeron sisters were glowing from the spa's lavender-scented oil and dressed to the nines. After an afternoon of well-deserved pampering and last-minute shopping, it was time to meet with the boys.
You were wearing a dark blue mini dress, the material sparkled and reflected light with every movement of your body. The black strappy heels matched with your manicure and pedicure.
You were vibrant and ready for the night out with your mate and friends. Work had been tiring, especially when it was your job to organize military exercises with other Courts armies.
Excited to step into the bar, you grinned as the music vibrated all around you. Scanning the dance floor, your grin spreads when you see your blue-siphoned mate absolutely smashed and tearing it up on the dance floor with his brothers and other partygoers. Happy to see him relaxed, you go over to the bar to order yourself a drink before joining Azriel.
Despite being known as the “quiet one,” Azriel loved to dance and party occasionally. Work had been stressful lately, so he let loose and drank to his heart's content. Females and males were coming up to him all night asking to dance with him, but he refused, and if they got insistent, he’d give them the “sorry, you’re lovely but I’m married” speech. Everyone was always respectful and backed away, after all, he was the Shadowsinger.
It wasn’t even late but admittedly, Azriel drank too much, and his wild erratic dancing proved the point. His brothers and family teased him from afar, even Elain was poking fun at the drunken shadowsinger. In the corner of his eye, a female in a short blue sparkly dress approached him. Smelling like lavender, the female slid an arm around his waist and pressed her body against his.
You were about to bop to the beat of the music when Azriel stopped dancing and ripped himself away from you. The movement was so sudden, that the cocktail in your hand splashed droplets on the floor.
“Az? What’s wrong?” you asked wide-eyed.
“S-sorry, I’m taken. I’m just waiting for my wife,” he slurred as he deliberately turned away from you and started dancing again.
Startled, you looked at Cas, Rhys, and the girls and you burst out laughing. You pointed an accusatory finger toward the Illyrians.
“He doesn’t even recognize me! I can’t believe he’s shit-faced this early!” you weren’t mad at the boys, just highly amused.
Tapping Azriel on the shoulder, he turned, and you gave him your most dazzling smile. “I haven’t seen you all day and this is how you greet me? I’ve been wanting to dance with you, love.”
His eyes run down your body appreciatively, his gaze slowing around your thighs, he’s always loved your thighs. You gave him an encouraging nod, but he was still clueless.
Bringing up his left hand, he shows you the golden band around his ring finger. “I told you I’m married, see? She also happens to be my mate.”
You stifled a giggle and stepped closer to him. Surely, he would recognize your scent, right? You grabbed his hand and let your fingers trace the scars, he loved it when you did that.
In complete shock, he snatched his hand away after a few seconds.
“Look, you’re beautiful but I’m not the one for you. I would walk away before my mate gets here. She’s Night Court’s best warrior and I’m afraid she won’t let you get away with you bothering me so much,” said Azriel, his lips pressed into a line.
You started laughing, your handsome mate was so loyal. You can’t believe he would have sic’d you to flirty females. His family, who were listening to the whole thing, was snickering as well. Rhysand pinched his nose highly regretting pre-gaming at the townhouse, at the time it was a great idea.
Azriel squinted at his family when he realized they were laughing at him. “What?!”
Rhysand clapped a hand on Azriel’s shoulder. “Brother, you’re so drunk that you don’t even recognize your own mate!”
Azriel’s eyes furrowed as he looked at your beautiful twinkling face, your lips forming into a smirk. Azriel tugged on the bond three times, and after a short beat, you tugged the bond four times. It was something the two of you did, the first person tugged three times and the four tugs meant that the second person loved them more. Clarity burst through his intoxication and when he realized, he tipped his head back in laughter.
Moving closer to you, he pressed his lips onto your temple and murmured an apology against your skin, this was the last time he was going to drink this much. You wrapped your arms around his neck as he placed a hand on your waist and the other on your bum. You turned to place a kiss on his cheek and then his lips.
He squeezed your body, and you pressed your lips on him again. “Why do you smell like lavender? No wonder I didn’t recognize you, I hate lavender!”
“That’s the oil they used on our massage today,” you said. A slower song was playing so you swayed with Azriel. He held you tight as you gazed into his eyes, melting at the sight of the brown and greens melting together.
After a few more hours of partying, it was time for you and Azriel to go home. Smelling of sweat, booze, and lavender oil, the both of you opted to bathe together.
You relaxed and laid on Azriel's chest as he took the loofah and scrubbed your skin. He said he wanted you to smell like yourself again and insisted that the bath water was to be changed for the two of you to properly soak. Now that the suds smelled of your favorite soap, he pulled you against him and he closed his eyes.
“Az?”
“Yes, love?”
“I’m really happy to know that even when you’re shit-faced, you won’t ever cheat on me.”
A growl rumbled in his chest, his hand splayed across your stomach and held you tighter. “Why would I do that when I’ve got the most perfect person in the world in my arms?”
You blushed; he always knew how to make you feel loved. Turning around to straddle him, you bent down to capture his lips. Who were you to question his logic?

Azriel x OC | Chapter 1
Rare
Both his brothers are mated. Both his brothers are happily in love. But after five centuries of rejection, Azriel doesn’t hope for such luxury in his life. When he meets the bar owner who is too mysterious even for the spymaster to decipher, his intrigue turns into more. Lines between mystery and secret blur. The closer he gets to her, the more his instincts warn him to stay away.
Word count: ~5.6k Warning: None [minimal editing/proofreading/formatting]
A/N: This is an experimental piece of work. I'm testing a writing style, so feedback is welcome. I have newfound respect for writers who have mastered group dynamics in their writing.
‘Two weeks,’ Mor whispered, trudging forward with her eyes set ahead in a daze. Her heels hit the cobbled path with soft clicks. ‘They’re closed for two weeks. What am I going to do?’
Feyre looped her arm through hers and guided her away from the closed doors of Rita’s. No one took the disappointment as hard as Mor. Still, they each expressed varying degrees of frustration with their grunts and groans.
Cassian cursed aloud for it was his idea to enjoy a night like good old times . And he enjoyed a night like good old times every two months. However that night, the rest of the Inner Circle agreed to celebrate the few peaceful months they'd had in a while.
Except for one.
Azriel was grateful for his family’s reunion and their safety. Only he wanted to celebrate it in the quiet of their home. His family didn’t spare him the courtesy of protesting though. Knowing him well, they sent the middle Archeron sister to plead their case. One look at her hesitant eyes and he couldn’t deny the soft-hearted woman. He had one regret for the night—to have not flown off when he sensed Elaine’s presence on the other side of his door.
When Rita disclosed their misfortune, Nesta pinned him with an accusatory glare as if his ill will had manifested into the burning down of their beloved retreat. She would have calmed if Azriel had stood there with his usual blank stare. Instead, he lifted a brow as a smirk tugged at his lips.
‘At least pretend not to enjoy this so much, you ass,’ grumbled Cass without even looking at his brother.
‘Two weeks!’ Mor shrieked, throwing her arms in the air as she reeled out of the initial shock. Her blonde hair swayed behind her with every shake of her head. ‘How could she do this to me?’
Rhys walked on her other side. Besides Azriel, he was the only one unbothered by the ruin of their plans and his taunting tone was the only sign of his apathy for his cousin’s plight. ‘I’m sure the fire in her kitchen had barely anything to do with punishing you.’
Elaine’s voice perked up as Mor opened her mouth again. ‘We could go somewhere else,’ she inched away with each word as if she expected another outburst. ‘It’s not too late.’
And that’s how Azriel came to hate the woman for the night.
He wasn’t cruel. He loved his family, and he agreed they deserved a break, but it wasn’t something he would sacrifice his peace for. He was ready with his own proposition—go back home, get drunk on faerie wine, and maybe some mirthroot if they resisted too much. His family would have their merriment, and he’d have his serenity.
As they stumbled and meandered through the streets, stopping at one place and the next, vetting out each other’s suggestions, Azriel found himself enjoying the moment—listening to his family’s usual banter, the comfort of familiarity built over centuries, and fussing over triviality instead of wars and courts. If his family chose to spend the entire night on the streets, he would gladly trade his peace for that.
But then, his family arrived at their destination. The last on their list. Another bar. Or at least what it said on the polished plaque that hung above the rusty door frame.
‘This is it?’ Cass spoke first, his words echoing the thought they all had in their minds.
Beyond the worn-out door held in place by a brick wedged between it and the doorframe was a harshly lit long room. Even the open door and cool breeze of the summer night failed to mask the stench of stuffiness from the dingy hole in the wall. Light flickered warning anyone dared contemplate entering the horrid place. Too narrow to hold waiting tables, there stood a sole desk opposite the entrance. Two shelves nailed behind it sloped, the bottles stacked atop them slowly making their way to the edge. Such a place at the centre of Velaris was nothing more than a swamp surrounded by beauty and life.
A woman rotten with age sat behind the table. Her hands jittered with each click of the needles held between her sharp, black claws. Her crooked nose curving past her thin lips and her non-existent ears were the only indications of her faerie blood other than her savage nails. Azriel couldn’t remember the last time he saw a creature that looked so old and fragile, yet with malice in her being, a kind of cruelty that lurked in one’s bones.
Despite what he witnessed, none of it deterred him that night. His body shook with silent laughter. All that wasted trip, endless stops to pick at the tiniest flaws only for his family to end up there .
Mother loved him. The complete disbelief on their faces was worth everything Azriel suffered since he opened his door to Elaine that night. Even his shadows seemed to enjoy the irony of their situation, skittering around his shoulders.
Mor turned to him sharply, her eyes alight with fire. ‘As long as there’s wine, this will do,’ she gritted her teeth.
Pushing his friend, whose only purpose in life was proving a point, was the last thing Azriel wanted to do. Yet it was an opportunity he couldn’t pass. How far would his family go? What would it take to break them? Would they give in and chuck down whatever wretched brew the suspicious creature offered? He merely bowed his head and waved at the door.
Mor swallowed her squeak of disgust as she crossed the threshold. Her eyes ran over the assortment of bottles on the shelves—three filled to the brim with pale green liquid, two half-filled with something that looked awfully like rotten blood, of what Azriel didn’t care to find out.
‘Do you suppose,’ she brought her eyes back to the woman, ‘you have any wine?’
The needles went silent for a beat, ‘Take your pick,’ and resumed. Not once did the creature glance at them as she jerked her chin to the shelf above her head.
With the seven of them now inside, the air turned hot and suffocating. Nesta pushed past to the front, standing next to Mor. ‘This is Pharus, isn’t it? The bar?’
Finally, the faerie looked up. Her eyes roved over their faces, their bodies, the detailing of threads on their clothes finer than the ones she held in her hands.
‘Of course,’ she snarled, ‘why else would you be here?’ Her lazy eyes rolled creepily in their sockets to stop at the door beside the shelf. ‘Over there,’ she said and went back to her hideous patchwork of browns and blues and pinks.
In the silence, a steady thrum of beats crept along the floor. A soft murmur lured them to trust the creature’s words and enter the unknown awaiting them behind the burnished wood, a portal out of the creature’s lair.
Mor stepped up to the door, her eyes on the glass doorknob—hypnotised, curious, so bright. As her fingers brushed against it, the faerie cleared her throat.
‘There’s a price for it,’ she added with a sly smile on her lips, a little thing that didn’t belong in her sagging face.
Azriel fished into his pockets while his family stared between the door and its guardian. His curiosity ebbed and grew to a point of no return. He had to find whatever called to him, whatever called to them . He dropped a gold on the table. It clattered on the wood, its ring echoing for a breath too long.
The faerie stared at it and then at him, and then his family, studying each of their faces. Her claws left scratches on the wood as she grasped the coin in her palm. She sniffed it once and her eyes widened.
The door didn’t make a sound under Mor’s hand. One by one they entered, and Azriel let the door close behind him. Their heels clicked on the polished wooden floor that gleamed under golden lights.
Soothing warmth enveloped them even on the summer night in a comforting embrace. Fragrance of spices cut through the musk of the wooden furniture. Golden orbs hung from the ceiling, casting a soft glow across the space enough to enable their fae sight, but none too harsh like Rita’s. Every plush leather chair, strategically arranged table, and carefully curated decorations contributed to the elegance of the room.
A band sat on a raised podium at the far end, playing music that complimented their ambience. In the middle stood the majestic bar, a stretch of counter that ran along almost the entire length of the room. Bottles filled with various shades of liquor sat on the shelves behind—each of them, artistically planned and placed. Lights reflected off decanters and glasses set on trays adding a bit of colour to the brown and gold theme of the room.
Faerie, high and lesser, took the seats without sparing each other a glance of discrimination. There was no stench of tension in the air, only a fragile calmness. Two servers shifted around the room speaking softly with polite smiles on their lips. A female tended to the bar, her hands worked with mesmerising precision. Despite the overflowing liquor, there wasn’t a loud cry, laughter, or chatter.
Luxury and safety—the words came to Azriel’s mind. His shadows shaded his shoulders, falling quiet as they studied their new territory.
One of the servers led them to the only table large enough to fit them and their wings—close to the band. A bench ran along the wall on one side, and chairs occupied the other.
Once they settled, he spoke with a rehearsed tone, ‘I’m guessing you’re new here.’ The hitch in his breath told them he knew exactly who they were, and yet his smile remained. ‘We have two rules. One, we ensure the night’s peaceful as much as possible. So, we don’t appreciate misconduct of any kind, and I’d advise you to stay out of trouble. Two, if our barkeep cuts you off for whatever reason, you leave.’
The server breathed through his teeth. His shoulders relaxed as though the most exhausting part of his job was done, and his smile turned more genuine. ‘Other than that, you do whatever you want. What would you like to drink?’
‘I’ll have faerie wine,’ Mor waited for no one, ‘Any wine. Don’t care how many.’ Her thigh pushed against Azriel’s as she shifted to her comfort on the velvet bench, her warmth seeping past his leathers. A swift nod from everyone else had the server scrambling back to the bar.
Nesta inspected the ones at the neighbouring tables. ‘What kind of moron expects drunks to follow rules?’
‘The one who doesn’t want to be held responsible for whatever happens when they are broken.’ Nesta’s eyes snapped to Azriel’s, and he merely shrugged.
Elaine looked between their faces, expecting the inevitable discussion. But the Inner Circle indulged in spying on their night’s getaway. ‘Are we really ignoring what we saw outside?’
‘Oh,’ the server peered down at them as he set a tray with two wine bottles and glasses with a grace unexpected of his thick, manly fingers. ‘That hag is harmless. She just wastes her day knitting. If she bothered you, it’s because you’re new. Easy prey, you know? The regulars are used to her by now.’
Feyre reached for the glass offered to her. ‘Who is she?’
The server didn’t care to meet their eyes, but his words were eager. ‘She came with the building. This used to be her home. The old owner, her son, wanted to sell this bar. He found a better place for his family. But she didn’t want to move. Night and day they fought so much that people were afraid to even walk the street. Anyway, the son couldn’t resist our offer and sold it, and she—,’ he clicked his tongue, ‘she refused to leave with him. And Ayla didn’t want to leave her homeless.’
Azriel didn’t particularly enjoy the conversation as much as his family did. It mattered very little to the server, whose words tumbled out in a single breath. Clearly, it wasn’t the first time he was telling the story to his customers. He would make a terrible spy, Azriel thought. Maybe a decent source.
'Ayla?’
'She owns the place now. She gave the hag that hall. That’s where she and her husband lived before her son built a bar here.’ He sighed. His eyes swept over the rest of the room once he placed a filled glass in front of each of them. ‘It’s not good for business with a front like that. She scares everyone away. But Ayla insisted, and we renovated around it. Most customers don’t set foot inside after the first time. Some take pity and give her a few coppers. Not that she needs them though. Ayla takes care of all her needs.’
Another heavy breath, and he turned to them with a wide smile, with a server’s politeness. ‘Anyway, enjoy!’ He turned to leave. Then he paused, ‘You didn’t give her anything, did you?’
Every pair of eyes at the table fixated on Azriel. He blinked, ‘A gold.’
‘You better stay away from her the next time.’ The server walked away laughing.
In his long life, and also as a spy, Azriel had met enough faeries ranging from the vilest to the kindest. Nothing fazed him anymore. Though it would have made quite a story on any other day, his focus remained on his family. He would rather figure out a way to coax his friends to leave early than uncover more about a hag and her benefactor. After a long night of searching for a bar which offered wine sweeter than Rita’s, he knew it to be almost impossible.
At her sister’s request, Feyre led Elaine closer to the band, both nursing their drinks in their hands. Loose chairs littered the open space in front of the dais, where they took a seat among other patrons. The musicians nodded at them with a smile.
Cass slammed his glass on the table. ‘I don’t like this place,’ he grumbled, looking at the well-behaved mob, ‘Where’s the fun here? This is not how a bar is supposed to be.’
‘Why? Is this place too classy for a brute like you?’ Nesta smirked, sipping her drink as she surveyed the place. With her usual elegance and simple gown, she fitted in better than the rest of them.
Years of sneaking and spying had ingrained the instincts in Azriel’s very bones, impossible to separate who he was and what he did for his family, for his court. His hazel eyes didn’t miss a thing. His shadows stayed close and whispered in his ears. Careful, calculating. Between the bar and the band stood two doors—one the servers often drifted in and out of with trays in their hands, a kitchen; and the other too pristine to be a back door or entrance to a storage room. An office, maybe. No one entered or exited it since his family took their seats across it.
His brother was wrong. The patrons enjoyed their time, but not the way people did in Rita’s. Like his family, they bundled together and shared a drink and a laugh with their loved ones. Their glazed eyes and flushed faces proved they indulged in the drinks as much as Cass did. A few cleared the space in front of the band, shifting the chairs around and waltzing to the music. A sense of belonging lingered in the air, unlike the mindless chaos that stained Rita’s.
As warned, the bartender declined drinks to a few. Even the ones who posed the most threat to start a fight walked away without resistance. Not one sound of protest or trouble followed.
Elaine and Feyre returned when the band paused to start their next song. As Elaine settled into the seat across from him, she gave the widest smile to Azriel. He smiled back. Rhys filled Feyre’s glass and placed a gentle kiss on her cheek. Cass and Mor still disagreed with Nesta on the essence of true bar experience. Rhys took Nesta’s side only to watch his brother seethe with anger. With the remaining sisters returned to the table, it became clear Cass and Mor were losing the battle.
To add salt to their burn, Azriel trailed a finger along the rim of his glass and smirked. ‘I like this place too.’
‘You weren’t on board all night and now you have an opinion?’ Cass waved a hand of dismissal but his eyes burned with betrayal, ‘Go back to your brooding.’
Azriel grinned.
Laughing and stumbling, Mor headed to the bar. The bartender blushed so red that it wasn’t a mystery what she was up to. Minutes later, she returned with a bottle of amber liquor and a glass of a blue-green drink. Bottles were emptied, banter was shared, and laughs grew contagious.
Even though it was harmless, raucous laughter, they attracted the wary eyes of the server. Azriel knew where they were headed. He slid Rhys’s glass of whiskey out of his grasp. His brother turned to him with an arched brow. He mumbled, ‘We’d need more than one ride tonight.’
Rhys didn’t argue. He limited his drinks as much as Azriel that night for the sake of his mate. Ever since Feyre, his brother’s usual recklessness waned. He became more attentive and considerate in ways he had never shown before.
Both his brothers were equally troublesome. Cass with his wildness and brutality, and Rhys with his cunning and sly. And yet, after finding their mates, they were still all that and a bit more, someone better in every sense.
Azriel looked at Mor pressed to his side, drunk and smiling. The woman he once loved. And then, Elaine, the one he wondered to be his mate.
Even with the passage of time and endless disappointments, his heart refused to let go of hope—such a fickle thing for an immortal life. An everlasting pain that turned the kindest of souls into a force of cruelty—worse than love, worse than torture, worse than death.
To have heard of and believed in a spiritual bond with another was one thing, but to see it with his own eyes and long for it was not something even a damned soul like him could resist.
Who wouldn’t want something so precious divined by Mother herself, to be blessed by her, to be born fortunate to have a mate in their lifetime and find them?
Azriel knew love, he’d felt it. But how was it any different from a mating bond? Would a love be enough to save his wretched heart from himself? Could a love be as profound and sacred as a mating?
He looked at the happy faces of his family. Four of the seven—mated and in love. One with her supposed mate.
Rare of the rarest.
And there he was. An ordinary rock amongst gems. One Mother didn’t deem worthy enough. Maybe she was right. What was he, after all, but an unlucky bastard? What would it take for Azriel to be one of them? Shadowsinger. Warrior. Servant. Brother. Friend. Survivor. Tortured. Abused. Broken. What more did he need to be to appease Mother to bless him with one miracle?
What would make him one of the deserving?
He took the glass he snatched from his brother and downed the drink in one gulp. The liquor burned his throat, a good burn, almost as good as the one his hands endured a long, long time ago.
Rhys turned to him with a blank stare. Azriel checked his mental wards and averted his eyes. It was pathetic enough to long for something he couldn’t have. He refused to warrant pity from his brothers as well.
His family was together and happy. He breathed in the sweet aroma of the blue-green liquor Mor swirled in her glass.
It was a good night.
As he drank a little more, his shadows ventured out weaving through tables and shuffling feet. Azriel allowed it for a while before he reined them back. But they never answered when they returned, only dancing around his shoulders.
Moments later, they tried again, crawling down his back. The tug and pull of control slipped out of his hands as an invisible force stripped them off him. A gentle caress over his shoulders, coaxing him, easing him to let go. And his shadows followed this force, glad and willing, betraying their loyalty to him. Azriel didn’t touch his drink after that.
As expected, the server approached their table and looked at him, the only one sober enough to be reasonable.
‘We won’t cause any trouble,’ said Azriel before he could speak.
His shadows swayed around the back of his neck and leaned to peer beyond the man in their path. They stood still, unmoving and observing, and then crashed into his shoulder, turning into a dark mist.
The server watched them wide-eyed. He shook his head and peeked behind him at the once-closed door now open. ‘Maybe they could get something mild. Don't let Ayla see them like this.’
With those words, he stalked back to the bartender.
The room in front of him lacked the soft ambience outside with its golden lights and cosy furniture. A desk with a chair occupied the small space, giving a partial view of the bar. A woman bounded down the stairs that ran up from behind the door. She headed to the bar, exchanged a few words with the bartender, and went back inside. The servers paused by the door to greet her before they moved on.
Ayla.
To own a bar for high fae and lesser faeries alike, to have her workers and customers fear her, Ayla was laughably docile. Azriel had spent long enough around women of strength and courage to never judge one by looks, but he couldn’t help it.
In her simple dark pants that flared at the hem and grey-white shirt, Ayla was underdressed than her workers. She was as tall as Feyre, maybe a few inches taller. Her face held a hint of innocence, not close to Elaine’s, but something about her convinced she was harmless. Unless she had a sharp tongue like Nesta or had someone like Mor or Amren to do her bidding, it was unlikely she managed to keep her patrons in line by herself.
‘Azriel,’ called Mor from beside him. Her eyes were unexpectedly fierce after all the wine she had. ‘You’re drinking, right?’ She waved the empty glass in her hand.
He knew he should have said no. He glanced at the server across the room, but Nesta and Mor had already left for the bar. His attention drifted to the three drunk men who stood too close to a young fae trying to get away from them. She inched closer and closer to Mor who whispered into Nesta’s ear making her laugh.
The shadows on his shoulders grew restless, creeping up and down his arms. He should have offered to get the drinks himself.
Cass was in the middle of narrating an elaborate plot of his fights in Illyrian war camps from their childhood days to Elaine as she leaned over the table with enthralled horror in her eyes. Rhys smiled smugly at his exaggerations while Feyre looked over at the bar, thinking the same as Azriel.
The crude comments of the three men circling the fae made the bartender stare between them with nervous eyes. The air silenced around them, nothing but their obnoxious laughter echoed. The smile on Nesta’s lips vanished, and Mor noticed. His friends at the table paused their conversation.
‘Come now,’ one of the men carried on, ‘don’t be like that.’
Ayla looked up from the paper in her hand. She stared ahead where the man would have stood if not for the wall in her path. Dropping the papers onto the table, she reached inside a drawer. As she stepped out of the room, she cradled a leather bracelet to her right wrist, pulling its straps taut against her skin.
The bartender breathed in relief as she eased next to her and took a step back. Ayla gathered her hair, securing it at the nape of her neck as the bartender whispered in her ear. Locks of hair slipped free and framed her face. She swept a glance across the bar, took in the faces seated before her, deliberately shifting over the three men. She stood in front of them, mixing drinks with precision and expertise on par with the bartender. She didn't lift her eyes up again.
The man moved close to the fae who immediately backed away. He spoke into her ear but his words rang across the room. ‘Come on, love. It’s free drink. You should be grateful.’
A minute longer, and Nesta would have ripped that fool’s tongue with a shard of her broken glass. Azriel had seen enough bar fights—started a few and ended too many—to know when one loomed around the corner.
Ayla's eyes darted to the man’s hand reaching for the fae and then his face for a second while her body gave no sign of her attention on anything but the tumbler in her hand.
A smirk tugged at Azriel's lips.
Maybe it was a bad idea to let Mor and Nesta murder a few in a bar they had never visited before. Maybe it was a bad idea not to interfere with their authority which usually saved time with vermin like the man. Or maybe it was a bad idea to let the situation escalate, putting the fae in danger only to see the bar owner’s reaction.
But Azriel was not above making bad decisions to quell his curiosity. He leaned back and brought his glass to his lips.
‘She’s not interested,’ said Ayla in a voice so soft and smooth. With her eyes on the pink liquor she poured into a tall glass, she added, ‘And she has a drink.’
Her eyes met the fae's, gentle yet firm. She pushed the glass with her index finger. The fae heaved a sigh of relief and reached for it.
The man turned his attention to Ayla with a wicked smile. He ran his vile eyes over her and winked. ‘The coins are to shut your mouth, pretty. I’ll come back for you later.’ With a bone-grating chuckle, he returned to the fae who charted for a way to her table. He extended a hand in front of her, ‘So what do you say?’
Oh, how Azriel wanted to tear every tooth from his jaws.
Ayla finally looked at him. Her eyes were calm and intense, a reassured stillness in them. She straightened and placed her hands on the counter. And it was enough to shift the air around them. The woman who commanded respect from her patrons was in the room instead of the quiet, lingering spirit that drifted in and out moments earlier. The band slowed their music, and the ones who refused to look at the ruckus dared to glance their way.
‘I’m going to ask you to leave.’
The man let out a grunt, mean and vulgar. ‘Shut up, you bitch.’ Gone was his smile as he hissed at the fae, ‘You’re starting to make me angry.’
His eyes widened as a hand grabbed the back of his hand and shoved it face-first onto the wood of the counter. His arms flailed miserably to stop the impact, only to fail. The following crunch made the fae flinch away.
Ayla let go and walked around the bar, her steps calculated and leisured. She slipped her dainty fingers through two gold rings attached to the inside of the bracelet.
‘You okay?’ she asked the fae softly as she pulled the fingers away, two cords of metal unwinding between the rings and the leather. Once she got a frantic nod from the fae, she diverted her focus to the crying man who swiped at his face and stared at his bloodied hands.
Cass snorted. His drink sprayed through his nose, drenching himself and poor Elaine. Rhys’s eyes gleamed with amusement. Feyre looked between the three women at the counter.
The man screeched, ‘She hit me! That bitch hit me.’ His nose flared and spurts of blood leaked soaking his shirt. His eyes flashed with anger as he lunged forward, ‘You’ll pay for this.’
Ayla sauntered ahead with lazy steps and swerved when his fist came close. Her left hand went around his head once. The man stumbled forward by the wasted force of his body and his neck caught in the cords.
She pulled her hands back to her sides, the cords went taut, and the man fell to his knees. His bloodied fingers pried at the noose around his neck. His breaths grew shallow and raspy. Blood sprinkled from his nose with each strain of his chest. His pained cries echoed in the quiet. Not even his friends attempted to help him.
‘Whining on the floor,’ Ayla curved her wrist around his head again, watching his eyes grow wider. ‘Leash on your neck. You sure you aren’t the bitch?’
Looking down at him, she clawed his jaw open. Her other hand reached for a bottle on the counter, her void eyes never leaving his. She tipped it close to his mouth and his breath left his chest in a painful heave.
‘It’s free drink, love,’ she said, her voice a lover’s purr. Low and soft. As the liquor filled his mouth and streamed down his shirt mixed with the red of his blood, she gritted her teeth. ‘Be grateful.’
The first emotion she showed.
It was inappropriate.
Utterly inappropriate.
A deep chuckle ripped from Azriel’s throat, loud enough to warrant the glances from his family and the ones beside their table.
When the man choked and his eyes blurred, Ayla stopped. Her fingers released him and slipped out of the rings with a simple flick. The rings whipped spraying drops of amber-red in the air before it latched onto the bracelet again, the cords disappearing between the black of the leather.
She turned to his friends, ‘Don’t come back.’
They nodded and began to back away. The cries of their friend brought them out of their stupor and they carried him out with his blood staining the once perfect floor.
Ayla blinked.
Once they were out the door, she went back behind the counter, and time resumed. The band began their music again. Servers shuffled to clean the floors and check on the fae. The bartender wiped at the splotches of blood off the counter.
Ayla cleaned her hands and continued with her other orders. As she offered drinks to the ones still waiting at the bar, she smiled. Azriel set his glass down.
When she reached Mor and Nesta, she studied their faces and uttered a few words. Mor pointed at their table with a grin, her eyes sparkling under the light swaying over her head.
Ayla spared each of them a glance. Her eyes paused at Cass and his wings, Azriel and his wings, and finally Rhys and behind him where his wings should have been. The shadows didn’t appreciate the scrutiny. They went erratic around his shoulders and for a moment her eyes returned to the shadowsinger again.
‘She’s judging us,’ Rhys muttered through his grin. The amusement in his eyes flickered and she held his gaze. ‘Rather harshly,’ he chuckled.
Feyre frowned at him. ‘Stop it!’
Rhys’s smile fell from his lips. He hummed, staring at Ayla for a beat too long before he turned to his mate. ‘It’s not my fault. Her mind called to me,’ he kissed her cheek.
Azriel wanted to ask what his brother meant, but knew better. His shadows quietened around him, still as midnight air, draping over his shoulders with their ghostly weight. They didn’t sing to him much that night.
Mor and Nesta returned with a tray of drinks. Ayla wrapped an arm around the bartender and whispered in her ear, a smile still on her lips. Azriel wondered if there was more between the two. Ayla rushed out of her room at the first sign of trouble and took charge of every responsibility while the other stayed safe and recovered.
‘I like this place!’ Mor exclaimed as she slumped next to him and handed him a glass after taking one for herself.
Cass only cursed under his breath. ‘Because she gave you free booze?’ He stole a drink for himself, ‘But that show was fun.’
‘So was yours,’ Nesta laughed and pointed at his soaked front.
Ayla accepted a sealed plate from the server, with that smile of hers, and headed to her office. Her hand stilled over the doorknob. Crimson spotted her shirt along her torso below her ribs. She ran her fingers over them once, slowly. She blinked and wiped again at the dried stain. And again. Then she closed the door.
Once the glasses were emptied, Mor hated the place again. The drinks Ayla offered sobered them completely. Grumbling and muttering their disapproval at the trickery and betrayal, Mor and Cass walked out of the bar with the others trailing behind them.
Azriel sneaked a glance at the locked door smiling before he joined his family.
It was indeed a good night.

CASSIAN X F.READER
Warnings: SMUT, little plot. A bit of angst. Minors do not interact.
A/N: a little something, not proof read. I'll be editing tomorrow. Comments are welcomed 👏🏻
You used to think he found you pretty, always sticking next to you or seeking your company, you're fairly sure he even flirted with you sometimes. In his own not-ever-gonna-out- right-tell-you-what-I- mean–way, but you could tell there was something there. That's until the middle Archeron sister came into picture, with her beautiful doe brown eyes and soft silky-looking skin, her pink lips and long curls. Elain was a vision. Azriel was completely mesmerized with her, and it stung like hell to sit and watch as he leaned into her ear to whisper the mother knows what, his fingers delicatedly brushing her bare shoulder.
You sighed and drowned the dark liquor of your glass in one gulp. You were so tired of this shit, wouldn't have made it through half the dinner without Mor and Cass there.
"Everything alright sweetheart?" Cass asked loud enough just for you to hear.
"Yeah, I'm just bored." You smiled dismissively, hopefully convincing enough to ease the worried look he was giving you.
"We should go to Rita's" Mor chipped in, just in time to save you from interrogation.
"Yes! The three of us hadn't been out alone in ages." You agreed quickly, really needing any excuse to get the fuck out of the house.
Cass chuckled. "Yeah, last time I don't really remember how we ended up at Helion's door. Rhys had to go get us."
You laughed, a real sound this time and Cassian's eyes sparkled in amusement. He was always there for you, through thick and thin, ever since you met him. It was instant, the connection between the two of you, he knew you better than you knew yourself. Your best friend, your personal ray of sunshine. You had a feeling he suspected of your...affections towards his brother but you always managed to play it out small, just a friendly teasing. He wasn't a fool though, but kept quiet about it.
"What do you say Cass, are you up to some fun?" You asked, a smirk tugging at your lips.
"I'm always ready for a night with you sweetheart." He winked and leaned back in his chair.
You weren't entirely sure if it was the wine you had been indulging in all night, or the fact that it's been a while since someone flirted with you but your cheeks turned a light dusty pink at his words. Body feeling a little tingly. It wasn't uncommon for Cassian to flirt with you, he was built like that. He pretty much flirted with everyone. But something felt different tonight, maybe the fact that you were feeling a little unsure about yourself as of late, given that a certain shadowsinger had started to pay attention to more... beautiful, delicate things. So you didn't question how the General's words had affected you. You let yourself enjoy it, make you feel good. Cassian always made you feel good.
You rolled your eyes at him and gave him a playful smile, taking a sip of your glass.
Mor almost squealed in excitement. With Rhys and Feyre navigating their new parenthood, Amren and Varian barely leaving her apartment, and Azriel annoyingly pinning after Elain, there wasn't really much fun going on for your blonde friend. You had been over working a lot to be honest, anything to keep away from the house and the irritation that came lately when crossing paths with the shadowsinger, but you were tired and you missed your friends. So you finally decided to come home and a night out with your two best friends sounded esplendid.
"Alright then, let's go" you stood up, pulling Cassian with you, Mor on your heels. You waved your friends goodnight from over your shoulder. Not lingering to see hazel eyes trailing after you.
--------------------------------------------------------
"Is it me or is tonight more packed than usual?" You shouted over to Mor, making your way through the crowd of sweating bodies to the bar across from the dance floor.
Mor chuckled, pulling out a seat for you and signaling for the barman to come over. "It's Friday, of course it’s packed. How long is it since you last went out?"
"Two months, I guess? Since I took the job on the border" you shrugged.
"So, almost three months," Cassian added. Mor sent him a smirk.
"But who's counting, right?" She joked, Cass just rolled his eyes at her and ordered our drinks.
"Aww, did you miss me Cassie?" You prodded playfully at his shoulder. A smirk stretching across your red tinted lips.
"Of course I did, smartass, I didn't know the House could be so silent without your incessant morning rants!" He smiled. You smacked him in the arm. "Ouch! That hurt"
"I didn't even hit you that hard, you're just being a big Illyrian baby." You rolled your eyes, taking a sip ro your drink.
"You love me anyways," he threw an arm around your shoulder. "but for real sweetheart, don't take any more long ass missions for a while."
A warm, real smile made its way to your lips. "Don't worry Cass, I don't intend to."
"Good. Cause Azriel's been a real pain in the ass, I can't stand him anymore on my own." He chuckled.
Your smile weavered a little at the mention of the shadowsinger. "Ugh, don't even start. But let's not talk about him, yeah? I wanna dance."
Cassian opened his mouth but before he could answer, you were already tugging Mor towards the dance floor.
The night passed by between drinks and laughter and dancing, you were currently sandwiched between Mor and Cassian, swaying your hips to the dark tune of the rhythm, arms thrown around the shoulders of your blonde friend, back pressed against Cassian’s hard chest. It was hot and fun and you’ve never felt so free and careless, maybe it was the alcohol, or maybe the heat of the hands resting heavily on your hips was starting to mess up with your head. Either way, you felt bold and beautiful, a taunting smirk adorning your lips as you caught the eye of some male across the room. He gave you and Mor a run over, biting his lip as he made his way towards you. He was handsome, not quite as breathtaking as the males in your family, but he had some pretty attractive features. Sharp jaw and glinting dark eyes, and he looked confident enough that he had found his entertainment for the evening. You smiled playfully at Mor, angling your head to the male as if not to be so obvious, she looked over her shoulder, blonde curls like melted honey dripping over her back and flashed him a devilish smile. That’s when you knew you were out of the game. Mor was beautiful, ethereal. There was no comparing your darkness to her striking beauty, even the shadowsinger had favored her over you, some time ago.
Why had your thoughts taken such a pitiful turn? You were having a good time right? you wouldn’t let your insecurities take root in your head once more, you were here to avoid them after all. Still, you faltered in your steps as the male gently tapped Mor’s bare shoulder. You couldn’t help but feel a little disappointed, unconsciously leaning in on Cassian. Mor, completely oblivious to the downturn in your mood, gave you a playful wink and headed off with the male.
“Nevermind him,” rang Cassian’s deep voice in your ear, “he doesn’t know what he’s missing.” He gave a little squeeze to your hip, breath fanning over your neck and causing goosebumps to erupt in your skin.
“Doesn’t he now? He’s got his hands on the big prize tonight” you murmured.
Cassian’s grip on your hip tightened, pulling you even closer to him, right hand splayed dangerously low on your abdomen. “He’s so beneath you, sweetheart.”
You let out a sigh, finding comfort in the heat radiating off of his body. Cassian’s strong arms enveloping you almost possessively, hiding you away. “Cass,” you called him softly, half turning to face him, “dance with me?”
He flashed you one of his signature smiles and leaned down to press a kiss to your shoulder, “For as long as you want.”
You didn’t really want to think about why you felt so compelled to believe Cassian’s words, it was like everytime he reassured you, you got this warm feeling in your chest that spread throughout your body, all the way to the tip of your toes. You felt lighter, confident, pretty…even, in his presence. There was this sense of sincerity about him, and Cassian –your Cassian– would never lie to you. So you relaxed in his embrace and allowed yourself to get lost in the rhythm again, enjoying the way he seemed to understand your body better than anyone, smoothly following your movements.
—-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
It was around the sixth glass of fairy wine when Cassian decided that maybe you had had enough to drink, and maybe it was time to get some fresh air. He wasn’t entirely sure the suffocating heat was due to the way-too-packed dance floor or because you had been grinding down on him all night. If he had to be honest with himself, it was probably the latter. He couldn’t understand how did you dare think so low about yourself, in his eyes you were the most stunning female he had ever met, but tonight with that unfairly short, tight dress that hugged all the right places? You were absolutely ravishing. Full plump red lips so close to him, he had to refrain from kissing you until they were bruised and swollen.
“You know what I really want?” you asked suddenly, pulling him out of the trance he had been for the last ten minutes. Your head was resting on his shoulder, eyes glazed and heavy looking up at him. He swallowed, you were definitely tipsy. You’d never look at him like that otherwise.
“What do you really want?” He asked, shamelessly tracing the shape of your mouth.
“A piece of chocolate cake,” you pouted. That pulled a laugh out of him, he wasn’t expecting it.
“You’ve got chocolate cake at home,” he answered, still smiling at your frowning face. “I bought you some this morning, when I heard you were coming back.”
You beamed at him, and Cassian’s heart made a flip in his chest. It was as if he had told you the secret of the universe itself.
“Really?” you asked, smiling widely. He chuckled. “Can we go home now?”
“Yeah, let's get you that chocolate cake sweetheart.”
With one arm securely wrapped around your waist and the other hooked under your legs, Cassian lifted you up easily, as if you weighed the same as a feather to him. A small gasp escaped your mouth once he took to the skies, it never failed to amaze you how truly powerful he was. How disciplined and graceful, even. There was nothing brute about Cassian, despite some awful claimings from equally awful people. This sight of him, the wind in his hair, strong wings on full display, was nothing short of a masterpiece.
As if sensing your ogling, Cassian looked down to meet your stare with a bashful smirk. “Why are you looking at me like that?”
“You know Cass, you're my favorite person in the entire world.” you whispered, smiling up at him.
His smirk widened. “Oh, you're so drunk.”
You frowned, a little pout forming on your lips. “I'm not drunk. Just tipsy with no filter.”
He chuckled. “I thought Az was your favorite.”
Your frown deepened and Cassian swore your body had stiffened a little. “Why? We barely talk anymore.” You scoffed.
Cassian gave you a sympathetic smile. “He's just been busy,”
“Yeah, whatever.”
And just like that your mood had gone back to the beginning of the night. Sour insecurities resurfacing in your head. It wasn't Cass’ fault though, he's been perfectly charming the entire night. It didn't sit right with you, this awkwardness surrounding you. “He didn't get me chocolate cake though, so you're still my fav.” You tried lifting the mood with a tentative playful smile. He mirrored it, but still he caught your change in demeanor, having fallen silent the rest of the ride home.
Even once inside the House of Wind, comfortably sitting on the counter top in the kitchen, eating a slice of cake, shoes discarded on the floor. You hadn't uttered another word, too lost in your thoughts.
Cassian observed you intently, eyes downcast, hair a little windswept, full lips engulfing the last bit of cake. He swallowed. He didn't understand his brother, how could he resist when you so openly flirted with him? Had it been him on the receiving end of those heated stares shared during training, he would already have you pressed against the nearest wall, devouring your mouth until you couldn't breathe. There was no denying the beauty of the middle Archeron sister, but you? No one could compare to you. Long dark lashes, beautiful plump lips, the subtle sun-kissed glow of your skin… and those thighs. Those godsdamned thighs, you could choke him to death with them and he would die a happy male.
Yet, you didn't seem aware of the effect you had on males —and females as well— whenever you’d walk into the room.
“What are you thinking about?” He asked, low enough not to startle you.
“Am I not pretty enough?” You blurted out suddenly, as if you couldn't contain the thoughts inside your head anymore. Feeling embarrassed about how that came out, you averted your gaze away from him.
“Why would you think that?” Cassian asked softly, a small frown taking form in his face. When you didn't answer he moved to stand directly in front of you. “Sweetheart look at me, please,” his hand came to cup your chin, forcing your head up and causing your eyes to meet.
“It's just..” you huffed, mouth forming a small pout. “I'm not exactly soft and delicate, my body is too strong and maybe I laugh too loud,” You bit your lip trying to stop the spiraling of your thoughts. “I’ve never been…courted, I've had sexual partners, sure, but none of them had wanted to stay. No one has approached me for a while and tonight I thought– but of course not, Mor was there and she's stunning like the sun! I don't know, maybe I'm not feminine enough, that's all I'm saying.” You shrugged, trying to downplay it.
“That couldn't be farther from the truth. You truly have no idea what you do to every male in Prythian that sets their eyes on you.” He declared, looking so intensely at you that you couldn’t look away. The hand that was cupping your chin had moved down to rest on your waist and you sucked in a breath at the sudden rush of heat that act alone had caused to spread all over your skin. “You have no idea what you do to me.” Cassian’s voice had dropped to a low deep purr that had you feeling dizzy. “Breathtaking is not a strong enough word to describe your beauty. You don't think you're soft and feminine?” His free hand dared to trace a path from your hips up to your ribs, stopping just below your breasts. “I can point out a few soft and feminine spots if you wish.”
His eyes had taken a darker tone and you swallowed dry, feeling all tingly where his hands were currently resting on your body. Cassian was beautiful, perfect. You had always known that, but you would have never thought this male to have an attraction towards you. It was simply impossible, you've been best friends for as long as you remember, he had seen the ugly in you, the dark, awful sides of you. And in contrast, you've seen him take gorgeous lovers along the years. So you never gave it much thought, contempt to have him as your partner in crime, your own personal sun. But there was no denying the way he was watching you now, such hunger in his darkened gaze; there was no denying the way your mind and body were reacting to him either.
You didn't know when you had leaned in closer, or had that been him? Your hands were resting on his chest in a poor attempt to keep some composure but you knew he could smell the sweet vague scent of arousal coming off of you. Your face heated up, a faint blush all the way to the point of your ears.
When you didn’t say anything he added: “D’you wanna know why no one dares to approach you?” His breath fanned over your face. “That’s on me, sweetheart. I can’t help it, whenever I’m around you and some poor excuse of a male even thinks he might be worthy to touch you, my blood boils in my veins and I become violence incarnate. I know that. No one would be stupid enough to defy me.”
“But– but why?” you choked out. Too stunned to act cool.
He chuckled, a dark, dangerous sound. “Why? Because I want you. Because I dream about you. Because I need you.”
You tilted your head slightly upwards to stare at him, mouths mere inches away. There was such raw devotion in his eyes, it unleashed something primal from within you. It burned and ached more and more by the second, desperately wanting to be free. Oh, you wanted him. All of him.
“Then have me. Show me all the soft spots you like,” you whispered.
Cassian growled low, “I'm gonna show you just how beautiful you are.” And then he crashed your lips together in a hungry kiss. He kissed you deep and rough, hands tightly holding your hips and bringing you closer to the edge of the countertop.
Your own hands came to rest at the nape of his neck, fingers twisting and tugging at the strands there. You bit down on his lower lip, immediately dragging your tongue over it; groaning softly, he grabbed handfuls of your ass, kneading the flesh there. Arousal shot through your body, all the way to your core, thighs clenching together. You were almost certain your panties were drenched.
“This I like,” he managed between kisses, landing a spank to your left cheek. You gasped and he took the opportunity to explore more of your skin, kissing and nibbling that sensitive spot on your neck. He went lower, licking at your collarbones and you arched your back to give him more access.
Rough, calloused hands slid the thin straps of your dress down your shoulders, exposing your breasts to him. Cassian wasted no time attaching his mouth to your right breast, swirling his tongue and biting softly at the perked nub. Expert fingers twisting at the other before switching between them. You moaned loudly for him, hips jerking, searching for friction.
“These I like,” he said, releasing your niple with a sinful ‘pop’. Then his eyes darted down to your legs, forcing them open with his hips. Your dress had ridden up your hips, lace panties on full display for him. The fabric was soaked and Cassian growled at the sight. All for him. He fell to his knees before you, teeth grazing the sensitive flesh of your inner thighs “but these,” he murmured in between love bites. “I love these,” The General moaned before ripping your panties off and letting his tongue drag a long strip up your folds.
“Oh Gods” you couldn't help but moan out loud, fingers finding their way into Cassian's hair and pushing his head further in between your legs. Hips desperately chasing after that sinful, skilled mouth of his.
He chuckled darkly and the reverberations caused pleasure to shoot up your spine, eyes fluttering shut. You were almost sure you could touch the sky with your hands when he sucked harshly at your clit, and all thoughts emptied from your mind. It was just you, and Cassian, and the mindnumbing pleasure coursing through your veins as he fucked you with his tongue. It was all too much, too hot, too messy. His mouth felt so warm on you, fuck, drinking up your juices like he might die of thirst. You couldn't get enough of him, how did you get so long without succumbing to his charms?
Cassian groaned as yet another wave of arousal came gushing out of you, licking it all up, not a single drop to waste. Your taste was divine, he thought he may be high on it, head empty except for the carnal need to make you come undone on his mouth, and then fuck you into oblivion. He was so painfully hard, he could’ve just cum right there at the sight of you above him, looking all fucked up and he had yet to take off his pants. He could feel how close you were as your whimpering grew louder, head threw back in pleasure, too lost to notice the lone shadow that had made its way towards you. Cassian growled in warning, wings flaring proud in a display of dominance as he heard the light footsteps approaching. “Mine.” He seemed to growl on your skin, and you felt yourself tripping over the edge when you locked eyes with the intruder. A plea of The General’s name on your lips.
“Cass please, I'm gonna–” your release barreled through you with blinding force. Cassian rode you through your high, never faltering until you came down.
When you opened your eyes the intruder was gone. It was only you and Cassian in the room, he was smiling brightly at you, your heart gave a flip at the sight. He was still on his knees, lips shiny with the remnants of your orgsm, eyes still full of lust. He was so beautiful. You couldn't resist but to urge him up and kiss him breathless.
“I take it, you liked it” He murmured amusedly, hands still roaming over your body.
“Very much so, yes.” You smiled, leaning in for another kiss. He pressed himself against you, hard and ready, making you moan again.
A sudden new wave of lust (and a tinge of longing) invaded your senses, followed by a tentative tug. You gasped into his mouth, breaking the kiss to look up at him.
“You're…” you mused in awe, not able to form a coherent thought. His smile only grew wider and he dragged his mouth leisurely down your neck, biting softly.
“I'm not half done with you yet, love.”

Rita’s was bustling.
As it always was on a Friday night, really. They probably should have known better than to come on a weekend, but the welcoming vibrancy of the bar was a welcome reprieve from a long week’s work. Y/N took a deep breath as the music hit her, exhaling as she let any remaining stress seep from her body and into the night.
Before she could think too much about the busy days she’s had as of recently, a hand grabbed each of hers - one perfectly manicured, one covered in swirls of black ink - and pulled her in the direction of the bar. Mor flagged down a barman who recognised them immediately - it wasn’t a rare occurrence for the Night Court’s Inner Circle to make an appearance here.
After a moment, she handed her a shot glass filled with bright green liquid. “Bottoms up, you’re gonna need it tonight,” she grinned, already having necked her own. Feyre giggled as Y/N raised a questioning eyebrow at the blonde, throwing back her shot anyway and wincing at the tangy liquid.
“And why is that, exactly?” Y/N cocked her head at her friend, who’s brown eyes danced with excitement.
“Oh come on,” she rolled her eyes playfully, already flagging down the barman for yet another shot, just for herself this time. “You really think Cassian’s going to let us miss out on tonight? He’s been preparing his song with Rhys for days.”
It’s true - Cassian’s favourite night of the week was their newest tradition, open mic night at Rita’s. Four songs, four duos, randomly selected. Or so he says, anyway. He probably matched himself with Rhysand so he could convince him to sing Mysterious Girl together.
Feyre gripped Y/N’s hand from her other side, clearly trying her hardest to hold back a squeal of excitement. “How are you feeling?” She knew that there was more to that question than meets the eye. It wasn’t a secret that Cassian’s little game had paired her up with Azriel, much to his delight.
She put on her mask of indifference that she had mastered over the months of knowing the shadowsinger, refusing to give any details away of her incessant feelings for him that prodded at her constantly. “I am feeling absolutely fine, High Lady,” she smiled, eyes shining, but a scoff from her left interrupted her.
“Please,” Mor drawled, looking at her with a face that said, don’t even try. “You literally can’t fool anyone, especially not us, so drop the act.”
Okay, so maybe she hadn’t mastered her mask as well as she had initially thought, her twin’s nod of agreement cementing that conclusion. “Okay fine, but what do I have to be nervous about? You are all the ones who should be nervous when we out-sing you.” She smirked at them, but they shared a knowing look.
“There it is, changing the subject,” Feyre chuckled, nursing her drink in her hand. Y/N scowled at her, but she could never actually be mad at her. Frankly, she was more irritated by the fact that she knew her so well. “What? Y/N, this is what happens every time we bring him up.”
She opened her mouth to argue, when an arm was slung over her shoulder, and Feyre’s. “Ladies,” Rhysand’s melodic voice sounded over the music as he appeared between the sisters. He nodded at Mor with a grin, who was already on her… third, or fourth shot? Who knows. “Cass will have a temper tantrum if I don’t drag you all over to the stage right now.”
Feyre rolled her eyes with a laugh and allowed her mate to spin her into his arms, and they both made their way over to the Inner Circle’s area of the bar. Y/N’s heart warmed at the sight of them, knowing that her twin, her double in every way, had found her happiness. Mor looped her arm through hers as they walked behind them, her eyes following Y/N’s gaze. “You’ll have that soon, you know.”
Y/N looked over at her. She was so breathtaking, her brown eyes contrasting her golden hair, and her signature red dress hugging her flawless body in all the right places. Any male or female in this room would be lucky to get her, and yet, she didn’t care. Next to her, though, Y/N felt like nothing. As if Mor could sense her thoughts, she squeezed her arm affectionately. “Come on. Tonight’s the night you’re going to show that other side of you- oh don’t give me that look, I know it’s there.”
Y/N huffed, a lighthearted sound, and shook her head softly. “I wish I had your confidence,” She murmured, a dry joke.
“Babe, you’re sexy. When are you going to realise that?” The sheer certainty in Mor’s voice had Y/N raising her eyebrows at her friend, who simply nodded, as if agreeing with herself. “Channel it tonight. I’ll be watching.” She winked, and released her arm as they arrived at their own table right in front of the stage.
Rhys and Feyre had already taken their seats at the centre, High Lord and Lady looking elegant as ever. Cassian sat to Rhys’s right, his excitement akin to a golden retriever, as Amren, who was sat next to him, clearly tried her hardest not to throttle him. Next to Feyre sat Azriel, his looming shadows making the already dark bar appear pitch black in his presence. There were two empty chairs to his left, and finally Nesta sat at the end of the table, clearly trying to make the most of as much peace and quiet as she could get before the night’s shenanigans unfolded. Mor was quick to take the seat next to her, leaving Y/N between her and Azriel. He gave her a short smile as she sat down, ever the emotionless. “Are you ready?”
The low, icy voice of the shadowsinger never failed to take her by surprise. If the living embodiment of darkness could talk, it would sound like him. She looked at him, his hazel eyes glowing even in the darkness, and replied, “Are you?”
Before Azriel could respond, a flute of sparkly champagne slid from Y/N’s left into view. She turned to see Nesta, wordlessly handing her the drink, with grey-blue eyes that told her that she, too, thought she needed an extra little liquid confidence tonight. She noticed Mor biting her lip so hard she looked as though she may explode, and she rolled her eyes, a smile playing on her lips as she turned back to Azriel. To her surprise, it appeared as though a similar grin was tugging on those lips as well.
He merely raised his glass to hers, eyes shining with a grin that he wouldn’t let fully show on his face. She picked up her own glass and clinked it against his, matching his honey gold gaze.
Let the night begin.
It’s safe to say that the performances of the night were… well, entertaining. Cassian was a little too excited dragging Rhys up to perform their number first, giving major boyband energy up on that stage. Feyre was in fits of laughter, but Nesta looked like she wanted to claw her eyes out… but perhaps secretly enjoyed it behind that mask of disgust. Y/N’s two sisters were up next with a rendition of Love Story in which Nesta was surprisingly involved, followed by Amren and Mor’s take on Lady Marmalade, which was frankly the worst thing anyone had ever heard. If the monster lurking beneath Amren’s skin was anything like her singing voice, then Mother help us all.
It wasn’t long before her friends were cheering and whooping as Y/N stood from her seat - the final song. “Get him girl,” Mor whispered as she passed her, Azriel on her heels. She felt the shadows licking at her ankles as she ascended the steps to the stage, gripping the microphone that had been handed to her on the way.
As Azriel situated himself to her left, she stole a quick glance at him. He was looking at the floor, uncharacteristically tense under the gazes of all their friends. It was no secret that Azriel had the most beautiful voice you’d ever heard, a gift from the Cauldron itself, but it occurred to her now that maybe no one else had heard it before. Aside from her, at the couple of short practices they had done. Even then, she didn’t think he was giving his all.
Y/N faced the front and prepared for the music to play - she was more of a seasoned performer than Azriel. She had played her fair share of gigs around Velaris, a good handful of which on this very stage. If she was showing some confidence, she hoped that it would spark some inside of him. She steeled herself, breathing in deeply as she raised the microphone to her lips, and the music began.
“He’s got gold eyes, crooked smile, knows that he drives me wild,”
She felt the heat of the spotlight on her as she let her voice ring through the bar. It was soft, to begin with, giving the song room to breathe, to build. She looked over at the man she was sharing the stage with, noticing tension already lost from his shoulders at the sound of her voice. His eyebrows were raised ever so slightly, and she knew then that he’d realised how she’d changed the lyrics to fit him, those perfect golden eyes.
“Can’t help myself, no I’m not in denial,”
The smile she sent his way was telling, it spoke a hundred words. But it wasn’t just her grin that conveyed the message she sent: you’re okay, you’re with me, move with me. There was something between them, an invisible thread connecting the two of them, body and soul and mind. Certain thoughts, certain feelings - she could feel his, and he could feel hers. A bond like this had meaning, they both knew this, but neither of them were bold enough to explore it, acknowledge it. Across that bond, she beckoned him: Azriel, you’re with me, and I’m with you… play with me.
“I know he’s no good for me,”
There was a flicker of something in the shadowsinger’s eyes, as if his mind had decided to pull him down an alternative route to the one he was prepared to go down, the one where he’d back out and run. A shadow of a smirk lingered on his lips, as his own shadows danced around him excitedly, egging him on. The weaving tendrils were clearly more than satisfied with the idea that flashed through their master’s mind, whatever images Y/N’s words had conjured up. Azriel, play with me.
“But when he gets down on his knees,”
The spark in his eyes only seemed to brighten as he brought the lyrics to life, sinking slowly down onto his knees before her. The shit-eating smirk he wore on his face in response to her evident surprise could have sent her to her own knees as she beheld him, kneeling, for her. Mother spare her. A quick glance to her right at the others confirmed that they had all had the same reaction she had, and she feared that the bar staff may have to assist in picking their jaws up from the floor. Azriel’s face was challenging, knowing, yet almost the picture of innocence as she felt his response in her mind: You told me to play with you. She sent one word back at him: Bastard.
If he was going to play dirty, so was she.
“He’s so eager to please, knows the right frequencies,”
He reached a hand out as if to touch her - where, she wasn’t sure - but she grabbed it before he could make any contact. Scars felt rough against her soft skin as she walked slowly, teasingly around him and she sang the chorus, her heeled boots tugging her posture upright so her body curved in all the right places. She caught Feyre’s eye as she circled Azriel, still knelt on the floor and looking as though he was more than content to stay there forever. Y/N’s sister looked like her eyes were about to bulge out of her head, her smile growing so big that Y/N thought it would be too big for her face. Next to her, Rhysand simply winked, an encouraging smirk boosting her confidence.
“They say he’s morally grey, what can I say? Grey’s my favourite colour,”
As she made her way back to the front of Azriel’s view, still gripping his hand as he held it upright for her to use, she slowly lowered herself down to a squat in front of him as she sang the line. From this angle, she was now much closer to his face than before, and she noticed the subtle sheen of lust glazing over his eyes. It almost made her lose balance - almost. She brought his hand gently to her lips, placing a chaste kiss onto his marred knuckles, and he took in a sharp breath. Most people flinch when they see his hands, or grimace, or turn away. Not Y/N. No, she thinks Azriel’s scars are part of his story. The backstory to a warrior, a survivor. Scars are not the memory of what happened, but a testament to who you have become.
“Morally grey, what can I say? Grey’s my favourite…”
She rose to her feet, prepared to give Azriel some space to begin his verse, remembering the nerves that clung to him barely a minute ago. As she began to turn, taking the first step away from him, something cold slithered around her ankle, and one around her waist. The shadows pulled her straight back to where she was as the music lowered, and held her in place, as if they knew that hearing his voice would send her to the floor. And Mother above, they knew her well.
“What can I say? No I don’t pray, but for your body, I’ll worship,”
She could have sworn her knees buckled, but she couldn’t tell from the shadows holding her still. Azriel’s voice was like silk, so soft and pure, yet it lit her insides on fire in a way that she’d never felt, burning her up like a beautiful, dying star. If his voice was to be the thing to send her to her death, then so be it. She would die very, very happy. He reached out once again, and this time she did not stop him as he ran his hand up her thigh all the way to her waist from his position on the floor. Even kneeling, his Illyrian frame was intimidatingly large, her body standing not too much taller than his. His eyes watched his hand intently as it traced the curve of her side, as if they didn’t have an audience, one that was most definitely gaping at Azriel’s sudden brazenness.
“Girl don’t be afraid, my love’s a grenade, just be a good girl, you can take it,”
Like an angel rising from the ashes of war, Azriel stood slowly, wings flaring as he rose to his full height. His gaze was already intense when she was the one looking down at him, but now that he was the one towering over her, the darkness in his eyes shot electricity straight through her body and into her core, her head reeling with thoughts so sinful that nothing could save her. His hand on her waist squeezed on the words good girl, and she was forced to bite her lip hard to stop herself from reacting in a way that would later be incredibly embarrassing. His eyes tracked the movement, lingering on her bottom lip as she released it from her teeth with a pop.
“Call me insane but for you, I was made, I’d burn the world down if it’d make you feel safe,”
The fire in Azriel’s eyes blazed as he took one step toward her, and another, and another, closer and closer. The upper hand that Y/N had held up until now had slipped, yielding step after step backward, her control completely faltering. She had always known that doing this with Azriel would likely create some… tension between the two of them, and he must have known, but Cauldron, this was unlike anything she had ever expected. Azriel was so close that she felt his body heat, felt her face warming, likely for everyone to see under the harsh glare of the spotlights.
“It’s you that I crave, and nothing compares to your taste,”
Y/N couldn’t help but feel like Azriel meant every single word he was singing. No, he didn’t write the lyrics himself of course, but the way his eyes burned with such feeling, and… what looked to be desperation, told her there was much more to this than meets the eye. And Gods… the way his voice cracked ever so slightly with a primal need as those final words left his mouth had her praying to whatever higher powers she could to forgive her for the damning shivers he was sending straight to the very heart of that taste he craved so badly.
As the chorus rolled around once more, their voices finally blended as one, and nothing had ever sounded so right. Azriel’s shadows danced freely around the two of them, creating a tornado of darkness, of intimacy, where they were right in the eye of the storm. The song continued, and the pull between the two of them was magnetic, almost hypnotic as they completely forgot about the audience they had; their family who were most definitely gaping like fish out of water. Y/N could feel Azriel’s warm breath on her face as he sang, his angelic voice whispering less-than-angelic promises that only she could hear in the way it trembled.
Y/N honestly didn’t think that Azriel could get any closer - what she failed to consider was that the shadowsinger was in so deep that he wasn’t planning on stopping until there was absolutely no space left between them. As the song once again softened, Azriel took his chance and leaned impossibly closer, abandoning his vocals in favour of a different use of that mouth. Y/N inhaled sharply as Azriel’s lips brushed against hers, gently, experimentally. Some instinctive part of her that knew this was right pushed her forward to press her lips a little harsher against his, earning a shiver from the shadowsinger. She heard a soft rustle coming from behind him as his wings twitched from the anticipation.
As he pulled away, Azriel heard a shaky exhale escape her lips, caused only by the feeling of him, the heat of two bodies pressed close together, the rush of meeting the lips of the person who, deep down, you know is made for you. Your partner. Your mate. That shiver he elicited from Y/N was the final straw - the last thing he needed to cement his plans for the night. His face still inches from hers, he whispered with a voice so low he wasn’t sure it had even come from him, “You’re mine tonight.”
One moment, the IC were watching dumbfounded at the scene playing out in front of them, some wondering if they really should be averting their eyes (apart from Cassian, who sat with a shit-eating grin on his face). The next moment, the stage was empty, a whisper of shadows the only thing left standing in their wake. Azriel had disappeared in a flash, winnowed to who knows where, taking Y/N with him.
“Goddamn, Az,” Rhys chuckled into his drink after a beat of shocked silence. “Nicely done.”
“No! But they didn’t even finish their song!” Cassian pouted, gesturing wildly at the empty stage as the music still played from the speakers.
“Somehow I don’t think that’s their priority right now, Cass,” Mor giggled, practically vibrating from excitement and pride, exploding with glee at what had taken place since her little pep talk earlier.
Rhys set his glass down on the table in favour of throwing an arm over the top of Feyre’s chair. “It’s about time those two did something about the obvious, right?”
As Feyre’s eyes sparkled with delight for her twin, she giggled at his words, overjoyed at the knowledge that Y/N may at last feel the happiness of having a mate. A partner for all eternity. “Yeah… finally.”

Young Love and Old Money (Cassian x Female! Reader) Part 3
Young Love and Old Money Masterlist
AN: Sorry these are taking longer than normal, after the 25th I'm a free fuckin' agent and if you check my updated masterlist you will see I have so many things in the works.
Summary: She was the most beautiful woman in Prythian, sister to the High Lord of Night, and now she is the soon-to-be wife of Eris Vanserra. Despite her many titles and her aura of unattainability, Cassian can't help but fall deeply in love with the princess of the Night Court. But will it be enough to stop her impending wedding to a man who is sure to destroy her from the inside out?
Warnings: Sexisim, trauma from under the mountain, alcohol, SA
Word Count: 4,189
Another week had come and gone. A week full of tight corsets, uncomfortable shoes, trips to the Autumn Court and of course, snide comments from Eris.
As of late I had begun having nightmares. The kind that left me screaming in bed with no one to hear me. The kind that had me waking up in a pool of my own sweat. It was the same every time, I was the dog in the back of Eris’ kennels. Scared, alone and caged. I would scour the entire cage for a way out, my finger with that giant wedding ring on it scouring the straw covered floors, never once finding an escape. Eris would come in and bend me over like an animal and sometimes I would wake up before he used me and sometimes I would wake up after.
Regardless I was left unable to sleep. So I had taken to my dear brother's liquor cabinet to procure my own sleeping tonic, whiskey. For a few nights it has worked to put me to sleep, but not tonight.
I swirled the last little bit of whiskey around the bottom of the bottle before slugging it all down. I had been slowly nursing the bottle the past two nights knowing that tonight might be my only night to procure a new bottle without anyone seeing. Tonight was boys night at Rita’s meaning that Cassian and Azriel were out with my brother and no one was home to fuss over my new drinking habits.
I toss the empty bottle off the side of my bed and slowly but surely get up, wrapping myself in my silk night robe. My feet wobble beneath me as I make my way to the door, thankfully I know the way to the kitchen like the back of my hand. The only real obstacle being the long dark hallway, but even that’s a straight shot.
I close the door of my bedroom quietly behind me in case there are any maids wandering about the dark hallway that I can’t see. I walk in as straight a line as I can and it isn’t long until I run smack into a wall. When the hell did that get there?
“Princess? ” Cassian hiccuped
It takes me a second to realize the wall I ran into was Cassian, and I start to feel a little better, that is until I start to wobble again.
“Are you drunk?” Cassian hiccups again and I feel his hands on my arms stabilizing me. The smell of cedar, leather and whiskey floating over to me.
“Yeah, but you are too,” I pointed out, pushing a finger into his rock hard chest for emphasis. My eyes adjust to the dark lighting and I can see his face peering down at me. That sculpted, beautiful face that they should really write sonnets about.
“Have to drown my sorrows somehow,” Cassian shrugs, letting go of my arms, stumbling back on his feet.
“Pfft, like you have any sorrows general,” I scoff, starting to move past him. I trip on his foot and nearly fall over, the only thing keeping me from getting an awful rug burn is Cassian catching me by my upper arm.
“Shit princess I can barely walk but let me get you a glass of water,” he says, putting me back on my two feet again.
My heart flutters at his kindness, “You would do that?” I smile drunkenly.
“I’d do anything for you y/n,” Cassian replies and I can tell by the expression on his face that he regrets the words the moment they come out of his drunken mouth. It dawns on me that I’ve never heard Cassian call me by my name before, and I quite like the sound of it.
“W-would you really?” I stumble letting my drunk mind do the talking.
“As long as you’ll let me, I’ll do anything for you princess,” he reiterates and I don’t miss how he switches back to my formal title once more.
“Cassian,” I breathe, unable to say anything more.
“Anything, just tell me what you want,” he says quietly.
My mind swirls with all the things that I want him to do. Get me a glass of water, take me away from here, kiss me. But all those lead to one common bad ending…
“Eris,” I whisper, realizing how close Cassian is to me.
“Don’t marry him,” Cassian slurs, wobbling a bit as he places his hands on my hips. The feeling of his hands on me, and knowing that the only thing separating his skin from mine is a thin silk robe. He seems to realize it too as his glassed over eyes look me up and down. It’s enough to sober up my mind and realize what’s going on.
“You shouldn’t touch me,” I say. “I belong to Eris now.”
“Not yet you don’t,” he hiccups for the third time. “Please, don’t marry him,” he says, getting even closer to me.
I push Cassian off me and he stumbles back, “You’re drunk Cassian and I am too. We should both go to bed, we have a big day tomorrow.” I say stumbling back as best I can towards my bedroom.
The general doesn’t say anything, doesn’t protest or beg and as I step into my bedroom I don’t miss the curse he mutters to himself before waltzing into his own.
The next morning I wake with a raging headache that has me in bed until it’s time for me to attend dinner at the Autumn Court. If it wasn’t for my ladies maids I never would’ve left the warm cocoon of my covers. But I did, and in place of soft sheets was a death grip of a corset and I swore it was tighter than the last one. I looked in the mirror and realized that they had been choosing more and more revealing dresses for me, this one I was sure I had never seen before now.
I made my way into the foyer where I knew Cassian would be waiting dutifully and sure enough the second I walked in his eyes turned to me. I searched for a sign of regret or awkwardness in his eyes given the events of last night, but all I found was Cassian. Handsome, strong, loyal and wonderful Cassian, and a part of me sighed in relief knowing I wouldn’t lose the one life line I had when I was in Eris’ territory.
“You ready to go?” He asks me as he always does.
“I think so,” I answer walking over to him so he can scoop me up.
We take off into the air and the second we are airborne I feel a chill run up my spine. We don’t normally head to the Autumn Court so late in the day, and without the sun to warm my skin the cold seeps in. A cold that has me curling into Cassian more and I swear I feel his arms tighten around me.
“So dinner with the potential, future in-laws tonight?” he asks.
“I suppose so,” I sigh.
“You’ll do great, don't worry,” he smiles trying to lift my mood.
“And what if I don’t want to do great? What if I want things to go so terribly that Eris breaks off the engagement and starts a fight?” I bluster, half joking.
“Then I’ll hold while you punch Princess,” Cassian laughs and the vibrations roll through my body.
“Good dog,” I joke and Cassian erupts in a fit of laughter that warms my soul.
By the time we get there the Autumn Court is lit up with fae lights and the way they illuminate the colors of the autumn trees is breathtaking. Even in the distance I see and feel Eris’ presence like a dark cloud looming over me. Cassian touches down on the front steps and places me on the ground like I’m made of porcelain.
“Good evening my little flame,” Eris greets me, allowing his hands to fall to my waist pulling me in for a kiss. This past week he has gotten more comfortable with affection, but thankfully he had never repeated what happened under the willow tree.
“Good evening Eris,” I give a fake smile as he takes my hands in his. It was my last visit that Eris insisted that I dropped the formalities of calling him Prince Eris, something I felt was off character.
“I have a gift for you,” he smiles, pulling a long black box out from behind his back. He opens it revealing a necklace made up of large rubies. No doubt part of the crown jewels of the Autumn Court.
“Oh Eris! It’s beautiful,” I smile, running my hand over the large gems. I hated to admit it but they were truly breathtaking. Something I would’ve asked my brother to gift me for solstice. “You didn’t have to do that.”
Eris plucks the necklace from the velvet box and motions me to turn around so he can put it on. “I might’ve had ulterior motives,” he smirks, placing the jewels over my neck and clasping them on.
“Well thank you, I really do love it,” I say, running my hands over the large jewels one last time.
It isn’t until I feel the weight of the necklace and hear his words that I realize that ulterior motive. This isn’t just a gift, or a necklace, or even a family heirloom. It's a collar. One meant to show that I belong to him. The weight of it suddenly becomes burdensome and doubles as Eris stands back to admire the necklace now that I’m wearing it.
“It looks perfect on that beautiful little neck,” he smirks, offering me his arm that I take politely. “My family is very eager to meet you. Especially my brothers who have only ever heard stories of your beauty.” he says leading me inside.
“Well I hope that I can live up to my reputation then,” I smile as my heels clack along the marble floors.
“In that dress little flame,” Eris says, looking me up and down, eyes lingering on the cleavage the neckline showed off. “You will be like a walking temptation.”
We make our way to the large dining room and my eyes scan the table. Mounds and mounds of food and wine are littered all over it, enough for the whole court I presume. Everything from duck to boar, no doubt from Eris’ hunts. My mind flashes to the hounds in the kennel and I actively push the thought away.
On one side of the table sits Eris’ six brothers, all of them alike in age. At the head of each end sits Beron Vanserra and his wife. I look for an empty chair, and only find two.
“It’s wonderful to see you again princess,” Beron booms as Eris pulls my chair out for me.
“And you as well High Lord,” I smile bowing to him.
I’m thankful for the chair that now supports me from beneath as I feel my knees start to wobble. I look around at the table once more now that I’m seated, and the plethora of red hair and piercing eyes is enough to make me feel like I’m a lamb shoved in a wolf's den. I feel Cassian taking up space by the door and my heart breaks knowing he must be hungry too.
“Excuse me High Lord,” I ask, pulling Beron’s attention. “But I wonder if you might procure a seat for my guard so that he might enjoy this divine meal as well.”
“Bastards are not allowed to sit at this table,” Beron says with a cool, calm, authority that I almost envy. My blood boils at his words, and tears nearly brim my eyes. Cassian was so much more than a ‘bastard’. Gods, one Cassian was worth more than everyone at this table combined. But to say that would mean my head on a platter.
“Of course my Lord, I don’t know what came over me,” I apologize, bowing my head in submissal.
“Darling you simply must try the wine,” Eris says pouring me a glass.
I swirl the red liquid around and give it a sniff. The strong scent of dark, ripe berries hits my nose. I take a sip and though I hate to admit it, it tastes like heaven. Or perhaps my body is aware that the effects of this wine are the only things that will help me get through this dinner.
“It’s amazing,” I beam looking at my glass. “I love bold reds.”
“From our vineyards here in the Autumn Court,” Beron says proudly. “I’ll be sure to send a case to your brother for you both to enjoy.”
“We would love that, thank you.” I smile while taking another sip.
The table falls into a comfortable conversation and I do my best to keep my head down like Beron's wife, as whatever behavior she portrays will likely be what’s expected of me. So far her etiquette imitates what Eris so crudely said to me just a few days ago…Wives are meant to be seen and not heard, except for in bed of course. Men do love the little whimpers of pain women emit when they are deflowered…
I suppress a shudder at the remembrance of those words, and even though the comment that floats to my ears is another bit of sexist garbage, I’m sadly grateful for the distraction.
“By the gods she is perfect,” one of Eris' brothers says quietly to the other.
I try to hide my blush with another sip of wine, followed by another chunk of potato. Doing everything I can to pretend that I can’t hear the conversation the three brothers in front of me are quietly having.
“Look at her tits,” another one rasps his eyes not so subtly glazing over me, the other brother in the conversation doing the same. I suddenly feel like I’m a piece of livestock up for auction.
“How is it that Eris gets to have the Jewel?” the third one asks quietly, but not quiet enough to escape Eris’ ears.
“Because I am the eldest!” Eris shouts, slamming his fists on the table, and the only person who doesn’t jump from his outburst is Beron. “And you’d do well to hold your tongue in front of the potential mother to the heir of the throne you’ll never inherit.”
I can see the other side of the table debating whether to fight back or not, but it’s Beron who breaks the silence with the ease only a High Lord could do. “I assume that you and your brother will be attending our ball celebrating our fall solstice later this week princess?” Beron asks me.
“Yes of course,” I tell him, setting down my glass of wine.
“Wonderful! We’re quite excited to have you both in attendance. It is our fist ball since our time under the mountain,” he explains.
“Who else will be attending?” I ask, swirling my wine around in its glass.
“All the High Lords and the most trusted members of their courts,” Beron answers and it takes everything in me not to laugh.
My mind flickered back to the months before my family locked me away, months where every High Lord would fall to his feet and beg for my hand in marriage. No doubt Eris would now play the role of fighting them all off and the image of him being an angry and frustrated toddler brought me joy.
“Then I hope your son isn’t a jealous man,” I smile while sipping my wine. “Helion is a good friend, but he’s been asking my brother for my hand for years. Rhys practically had to beat him off with a stick.” I laugh, the effects of the wine taking over.
What’s meant to be a lighthearted joke turns sour as I see the flames dance in Eris’ eyes, “Jealousy is a weak emotion, princess, But rest assured, I have no intention of allowing any man to lay claim to what is rightfully mine,” he starts and leans into my ear so only I can hear him. “And if Helion continues to pursue you, I’ll just have to deflower you right in front of his very eyes.”
I want to come up with a witty response. I want to yell or scream or defend myself for the love of gods, but I can’t. All I can do is swallow the fear within me with another sip of wine and hope this den of wolves doesn't scent my fear.
The rest of dinner is quiet and uneventful, I let the men converse, keeping note of the many glasses of wine Eris consumes. I turn my attention to the only other female at the table and I try to study her every move. Beron's wife says nothing, and I note that it’s my job to do the same. A pretty little wall ornament indeed.
“If you’ll excuse us father,” Eris says standing up. “I would like to take the princess on a little stroll.”
“Very well my son you are excused,” Beron nods to Eris. “I look forward to seeing you later this week my dear.” Beron says to me.
I nod, trying to keep the illusion of submission up and Eris leads me out of the dining hall and down a dark hall. The chattering voices no doubt talking about me drifting off behind us. As we get further and further away from the dining room, I start to feel my stomach drop. Something is wrong, something is terribly wrong. But like usual, I don’t have the voice to say anything. We come across another dark hall, one so pitch black I would think it’s an endless void if it wasn’t for the light at the far end.
“Sit and stay bastard,” Eris growls towards Cassian like he’s one of his hounds. “I require a private moment with the Jewel.”
Cassian grumbles but allows Eris to lead me further into the shadows, the only way he could see us at this point is the faelight at the other end of the hall that would cast our silhouettes onto the floor. I try to throw him a frightened glance, but just like many times before, Eris seems to have found a way to keep me from doing so.
“The general seems quite attached to you, it’s nice to finally have some time alone,” Eris says as he leads me through the long dark hallway. I swear I’d bump into a rouge chaise or grandfather clock lining the wall if it wasn’t his arm in mine.
“Cassian has my best interest at heart, he wants to keep me safe,” I reply, trying to keep my voice from sounding confrontational.
“And he believes that I couldn’t keep you safe?” Eris retorts and I nearly scoff.
“It’s not that, I think he believes you might take certain…shall I say, liberties with me,” I mumble trying to keep my head low.
Eris' body tenses next to mine and I know I’ve made a grave mistake. “You’re mine, I can take whatever liberties I wish to.” he growls and before I know it my back is against a wall. “If he thinks I’ll marry you without trying you out he’s more of a simple minded bastard than I thought.”
“Eris please,” I breathe trying to rip my wrists from his grasp but it’s no use.
“Are you fighting or begging, little flame?” he muses, wine scented breath brushing my neck. “Either way it makes my cock hard.” he smiles, pressing his lips to my neck.
His body is flush to mine and I can feel one hand pinning my wrists to the wall in a way that will leave bruises while the other explores my body. His lips are hot and wet on my neck and chest wandering dangerously low.
“This isn’t proper,” I protest and try to wiggle out of his grasp for emphasis but I only succeed in grinding myself into him more.
“Then I’ll make it fucking proper!” Eris seethes gripping my chin to make my gaze meet his. Those amber eyes are somehow darker and more intimidating in the low light. “Now be a good girl and let me kiss you,” he smirks before pressing his lips to mine.
For what it was worth Eris hadn’t made any advances on me since the first time under the willow. But tonight, with the copious amounts of wine flowing through his veins? Well it must’ve been just enough for his resolve to snap. His lips still taste like venom, everything about him all wrong. It takes everything in me not to get sick all over his perfectly tailored jacket.
“Eris stop it!” I whine pushing him away further.
“I must have you my little flame,” he groans and I feel his hands grip my skirt.
My heart starts to race even more, and if I wasn’t going to be sick before I surely was going to be now. His mouth resumed its assault on my neck, messy and needy just like earlier. Large hands bunch up the layers of fabric and tulle until the cold air hits my bare legs.
“ERIS STOP!” I screamed pushing him off me with all my strength and it was enough to make him stumble.
A dark shadow appears before us as if it was transported there, “Eris that’s enough! It’s time for the princess to go home.” Cassian roars.
“Stay in your place bastard!” Eris seethes. “She belongs to me. I can use her however I like!”
“She belongs to no one! You have no right to compromise her virtue before you wed her. Rhysand won’t allow it.” Cassian continues, the voice of a general coming through. One so demanding even I would lower my weapons for him, apparently not Eris.
“Ha!” Eris laughs, thrusting a hand out to grab me by my neck. His grip is like a vice, a collar that burns hotter than one he already gave me. “Didn’t you hear her little begs? I think she might want to be deflowered before the ceremony. Wouldn’t you pet?”
Cassian’s hand strikes, grabbing Eris’ wrist. The one connected to the hand wrapped around my throat, “All I have to do is squeeze and that hand won’t hold a bow for months and I have the authority to do so. Get your fucking hands off her before I shatter your entire arm,” he growls and even I feel fear from his tone.
The deafening ringing of the clocktower bells chime throughout the palace like the voice of the gods dampening the tension in the air. The seven chimes signal it’s time for me to return home once more. Eris releases me, and against my better judgment Cassian releases Eris. But it doesn’t stop them from staring daggers into one another, if Cassian jumps now it’ll be his head on a pike and I’d rather die than allow that to happen.
“Cassian is right,” I say to Eris standing between the two of them. “It’s better if we wait. If you choose to marry me, imagine how amazing our wedding night will be.” I smile at Eris, pulling him for a passionate kiss, hiding every ounce of disgust I feel.
“That’s more like it, my pet,” he smirks, glancing up at Cassian in a challenge. “I’ll see you tomorrow.”
“Until then,” I smile, letting Cassian lead me away.
The second we are around the corner that shields us from Eris’ view we both begin walking much faster. As if the eldest son of autumn is a monster at our heels and we have limited time to get out of this gods forsaken palace. When the crisp air of Autumn hits my skin Cassian doesn’t even ask if I’m ready before picking me up and shooting me into the sky.
“We need to go talk to Rhys and tell him what happened,” Cassian said, his wings pounding with a new urgency.
“No!” I protest. “We can’t tell him. I don’t want him to have an even more guilty conscience than he has from the last fifty years.”
“Princess you saw what just happened back there! Eris was going to take advantage of you. Rhys deserves to know.” he argues.
“If Rhys knows he’ll call off the courtship and if he calls off the courtship then I can’t marry Eris which means I can’t save my court,” I explain.
“This has gotten out of hand princess, we have to tell your brother,” Cassian grumbles.
“Cassian please, don’t take my choices away from me. I love my court and I love my family. If this is how I can help all of you in the war I want to,” I shrill. “I can take ‘the sky is falling’ from just about everyone but you. I need you to support me Cassian.”
I look into Cassian’s eyes and I can see them still burning with unmatched fury. I let my own eyes plead to his, trying to convey how badly I needed him to stay quiet about what had happened. How badly I needed him to let me do this, to trust me. His eyes softened and his gaze fixed itself on the flight before us.
“Fine,” he shook his head. “But if he pulls a stunt like that again I won’t stand by and watch this time.”
“Of course not general,” I smile, watching the wind whip the stray hairs from his face. “I’ll hold while you punch.”
Though he tries to hide his amusement at my joke, Cassian’s mouth can’t help but turn up into a half smile.

All Eyes On You - A. Aretas🫂❤️
Title: All Eyes On You - A. Aretas 🫂❤️
Fandom: “Bad Boys” Universe
Character: Armando Aretas
Pairing: Armando Aretas + Burnett!Female Reader
Main Storyline: When Detective Marcus Burnett has company at work, Armando notices.
Author’s Note: Here's another request. Enjoy! 💜 @omg-mymelaninisbeautiful
=====
2024
“I'll see you in a minute, alright? I love you too. Bye.” Detective Marcus Burnett hangs up this phone call after speaking with his daughter.
“That's Megan?” Longtime partner Mike Lowrey chimed with Burnett, nosey.
“Uh-uh. Her sister.” Burnett jokingly sighed for a second. “She decided to visit us again.”
“Here we go.” Mike acknowledged tropical snapshots that framed near the cubicle.
“What the hell are you talking about?” Marcus shook his head.
“Whatever.” Mike laughs while stepping from Marcus, yet briefly makes eye contact with his son Armando. “Don't act up.”
“What?” Armando seemed genuinely confused right now.
“Don't act up. Mike warned again. “Someone's visiting today.”
“What's the big deal?” Armando would keep shrugging.
“All right.” Mike then raised his brow toward Armando. “I had warnings, but don't cry to me when Marcus hunts you down for messing with his daughter.”
“Why would I…” Armando stopped debating once you entered the precinct.
_____
Fixing posture in his chair, Aretas turned silent, observing when Marcus greeted you.
“You actually made some time to see your old man.” Marcus spoke.
“God, stop it, Dad!” You laugh while hugging Burnett.
“Where's my niece?” Mike yelled through his cheerful announcement.
“Right here! Hey, Uncle Mike.” You waved toward Mike Lowrey with the biggest smile on face now.
“You're just showing off, huh?” Mike continued raving about your accomplishments. “Got a masters degree, too. How was your trip?”
“Great! Wanna see photos?” You recently traveled abroad.
Mike huddled with you and Marcus. Pictures tapped this beachfront collection on your phone.
“Nice. Let me introduce the team real quick and we'll go to lunch with your uncle, okay?” Your father Marcus worked out his tour guide spiel.
“Sounds good.” You beamed while heading toward another end of this large precinct.
Just when Mike turns the corner, he glances toward Armando.
“C'mon.” Lowrey gestured for his son to leave the desk.
“Are you sure?” Aretas nearly whispered to his biological father.
“Might as well rip off our bandaid.” Mike told the truth.
Damn, good point. Armando thought.
_____
The AMMO team welcomed you with open arms, despite this short visit to Miami.
“Kelly handles weapons, Dorn boots tech shit, and Rita isn't here, but she leads the whole squad from a separate office.” Pointing around the room, your father Marcus introduced comrades.
Kelly and Dorn greeted you as their voices resounded this wing.
“Hey, um. Can we talk?” Uncle Mike lifted his finger and you noticed him
“Is everything okay?” You questioned one of your favorite people on Earth. Mike always made you laugh growing up. Even Marcus stepped nearby.
“Couldn't really talk about this when you were little, but long story short, I have a son.” Uncle Mike revealed his truth.
“What?” You whispered toward Uncle Mike and your father Marcus nodded with confirmation.
“Yeah.” Uncle Mike noted the worried lump found in his throat.
“What happened, where is he?” You offered genuine concern.
“Right here. Pulled strings to help out and now works for us.” Uncle Mike stepped back while introducing you to his son. “That's Armando.”
“Oh, wow. Hi.” You knew better to ruin this moment and shook Armando's hand.
“Hey.” His slightly accented English caught your attention. “Nice sunglasses.”
“Thanks.” You accepted his compliment and played along to ease tension.
“You're welcome.” Armando barely smiled in return, still not flirting with you.
“Let's get something to eat. I'm starving.” Uncle Mike spoke up and you quietly invited Armando.
_____
This group of four joined one local restaurant and Armando sat right next to you, protective near the front door.
“They're not fighting each other, only talking. It's a miracle.” Your father Marcus jokes about you and this unexpected guy.
“Why would I fight with Armando?” You questioned Marcus.
“On rough days, he's stubborn just like your uncle.” Burnett continues.
“Uh-oh. What happened?” You chuckled and wanted to learn details.
“Telling us what to do, not listening, acting like the boss. Our list takes forever.” Your father Marcus counted.
“Got an attitude from me.” Uncle Mike offered his thoughts once more.
“Looks came from my mother.” Armando pulled this sly gesture and looked toward you.
“Did you just call me ugly?” Uncle Mike scrunched up his face while glancing toward Armando.
“Oh my God, Dad!” Even you laughed out loud with Marcus.
Armando smirked and paid the bill, guiding everyone out of this restaurant.
Sooner than later, you traded phone numbers with Armando and returned to Miami for good.
Home, sweet home.

ACOSM | The Night they went to Rita's
azriel x rhysand's sister (oc)
warnings: alcohol/drinking, this was meant to be just fluff and a drunk Az but smut somehow made its way in so did both possessive and pouty Az
summary: Mor shares bad news with Valeria and the two decide they are in need of a fun night out. Rhysand invites himself and brings Az and Cas along. The finally go to Rita's and they all get a little carried away with shots.
A/N: this is an imagine among my collection that follow Rhysand's sister, Valeria. while I'm still working on them, you can find the masterlist for it here. this turned out to be waaay longer than I originally planned and I also wasn't happy with some scenes so I rewrote them a lot, which is why it took forever to update.
**
As the sun dipped, painting the sky with shades of pink and orange, Valeria found herself seated before her piano in her room. The open balcony doors welcomed in the cool, refreshing breeze. A week had passed since her haunting violin performance. She hadn’t seen her father since that night, avoiding him like a plague.
But this moment was different. She wasn’t performing for her father. Instead, she played solely for the love of the instrument she cherished the most–the piano.
Noctis, her devoted bird, perched on the music stand let out a chirp and shook his wings in encouragement. She took a deep breath, her fingers hesitating over the keys before they found their place. They tentatively pressed against the piano’s keys until a slow melody emerged from her fingertips.
As the last note dissolved into the air, she felt a cool caress dash across her cheeks and swept her hair aside, curling against her ear to whisper to her. Beautiful.
She turned in time to see Azriel sit beside her, his wing extending and curling around her to accommodate the both of them on the piano bench. Her wings were glamored–something Azriel noticed she did more of since Mallory’s death.
His hazel eyes glimmered with admiration as he looked down at her. She returned his gaze with a warm smile. “Would you like to play?”
“I’d rather listen to you.” He replied smoothly.
She spared a glance to Noctis who observed the Shadowsinger curiously. “I think Noctis wants to hear you play,” she teased and Noctis chirped in agreement.
Azriel rolled his eyes in mock frustration. He knew he was not going to win this one so he bowed his head at her, silently conceding her request. Velaria beamed, resuming the melody she had been playing moments ago.
Azriel’s own fingers glided effortlessly across the keys, his own crafted melody harmonizing seamlessly with hers.
He knew how to play the piano thanks to her. After learning that Shadowsingers do not sing, despite their name, she had offered to teach him. She insisted that if he wouldn’t sing aloud, he would have to sing with his heart. Their lessons began shortly after he moved in with her family.
Cassian and Rhysand weren’t as welcoming of him initially so he was grateful for her. They spent their evenings after dinner practicing and despite their youth, she was always patient with him. Their sessions gradually tapered off as Rhysand and Cassian grew warmer towards him. He only played the piano occasionally, usually at Valeria’s request.
Azriel never forgot the night he met Valeria, the memory forever engraved into his mind. She had met his shadows, looked into their darkness and smiled. She embraced the very thing many feared. He watched as his shadows danced around them as they played the piano, warmth pooling into his heart as she welcomed their cool touch, a fond smile gracing her lips.
“Perhaps you’ll sing for me next?” Valeria mused as their song came to a delicate end.
His shadows twirled in excitement, almost eager at the thought of hearing their master sing. He couldn’t help but let out an amused huff. Even his shadows were in her favor today.
Valeria’s laughter filled the air and his heart fluttered at the delightful sound. He loved seeing her happy and cherished every moment that made her smile. It had taken all his willpower to contain his rage toward the High Lord the night he broke Valeria’s heart. He hated the way she’d pale at the sight of her father after and he hated having to show loyalty to the cruel man as his spymaster. It was unfortunately the only way he could remain close to her.
“What?”
Azriel blinked. He hadn’t realized he had been staring at her in a daze, his thoughts lost in the moment. “Nothing,” he mumbled, trying to sound casual, though a gentle flush warmed his cheeks.
“You’re adorable.” Valeria said softly, leaning in to plant a kiss on his cheek. An affectionate gesture that brought a rush of warmth to his heart.
“Adorable?” His response carried a hint of surprise. He had never been described that way. His fingers reached out to her face, coaxing her to meet his gaze that had darkened slightly. “I don’t aim to be ‘adorable’.”
“Tell me, then. What do you aim for?”
Your heart, he wanted to answer. Although, he could not bring himself to say those words aloud. A part of him feared that she did not want him the way he did. That perhaps she only desired him physically but he could not go back to how things were before. Not when he already had a taste of her perfect lips. Her soft skin and breasts, her pretty cunt as she came on his tongue...
If all she wanted was his body, he would gladly keep giving it to her. He would rather have her the way he did now than not at all. He leaned in further, his breath fanning her face and lips ghosting over hers.
“Your pleasure.”
He was then claiming her lips, his grip still firm on her chin, as his words ignited a heated desire in her stomach. He kissed her softly and slowly, taking delight in the way she melted into him, wanting to press against him.
By the Mother, he would never have his fill of her. He craved her. Desperately. And all the time. The inexplicable pull toward her had not dwindled one bit since he first felt it and a part of him wondered if she could feel it too.
He released his hold on her chin and placed his hands at her hips instead, shifting her onto his lap. His lips parted from hers as he pulled her back flush against his chest, one arm wrapping itself around her waist. The movement caused his wings to brush against the piano, making it sing clumsily and scaring Noctis at the abrupt sound. The bird flew away, accompanied by some of Azriel’s shadows, toward the open balcony.
Azriel brushed her long hair to the side, deciding to claim another of his favorite spots–her neck. His cock strained against his pants and he was sure she could feel it pressing into her. She tipped her head towards his shoulder to allow him easier access as he kissed her neck, easing his way down.
He already knew the spot she was most sensitive to. His teeth grazed her soft skin before sucking, smirking against the curve of her neck when he heard her let out a quiet moan. The sound had his cock throbbing and aching. He was filled with the urge to elicit more moans from her, louder ones.
His mouth did not leave her neck nor his arm from her waist as he used his knee to spread her legs further apart. His free hand lightly traced his way up her leg, then her thigh, his shadows bringing the skirts of her dress up with him. He could smell the sweet scent of her arousal and when his fingers ghosted over her core, he could feel just how wet she was for him.
“Do you still find me adorable now?” He whispered against her skin.
“Yes.” Her reply was quick and breathless and his shadows reported that she was smiling.
“Wrong answer.” He told her, his fingers leaving the spot she needed him most and resting at her thigh instead.
She whimpered at the loss and grinded against his thigh, coating his pants with her arousal. He responded by tightening his hold on her waist, large hands splaying across her abdomen to keep her from moving.
“Azriel?"
He nearly shivered at the way she said his name. “Yes?” He murmured, grazing his nose against the curve of her neck and inhaling her scent.
“I don’t just find you adorable. I find you enchanting. Beautiful..."
Valeria grasped the arm wrapped around her and he reluctantly let her pull it away, keeping his other at her thigh. She wrapped both of her hands around his larger one. She pressed tender kisses along the back of his hand, drawing stars along his scars with her lips.
"Every part of you is beautiful.”
Azriel was glad she could not see him as her words had brought a deep blush to his face. His hands had always been a haunting insecurity of his. Yet, she loved them, reminding him every chance she could. His wings fluttered around her.
He decides her words were good enough, fearing that if he let her continue he’d melt into her completely. The fingers that rested at her thigh continued their trail to her dripping core and her breath hitched as he rubbed against her sensitive clit. He teased her entrance before eagerly sliding two fingers in.
“Do you know how pretty you are?” He praised her as he thrusted his fingers into her, his thumb grazing against her clit. “Spread for me and dripping for me like this.”
“Not as pretty as you.” She gasped as he abruptly slid another finger in.
“Fuck,” he breathed into her neck, curling his fingers and eliciting a moan from her. “Do you know what you do to me? The things you make me feel, the things you make me want to do to you..."
"Show me. Please."
Azriel was then carrying her to her bed. He hovered over her, wanting to be able to see her beautiful face as he buried himself into her. His shadows brought her skirts up again, pooling the thin fabric at her waist. He wasted no time in ripping her underwear off of her in one smooth motion before pulling his aching and throbbing cock free. Its tip was angry and seeping with precum as he fisted his generous length.
“Are you sure, princess?”
“Yes, I’m ready. I can take it.”
Valeria licked her bottom lip, remembering the first time she had taken him into her mouth and the delicious sounds she had drawn out from him as he came down her throat. That mouth of hers would be his downfall, Azriel thought with a curse as he recognized the look on her face. He spread her legs wider, pressing his tip in slowly and torturously until he was filling her up completely.
They both let out a moan as her walls fluttered around him.
“That’s it, my pretty girl.” Azriel leaned down, tugging the top of her dress down to expose her breasts. He took one into his mouth, kneading the other with his hand as he began to move with slow but deep strokes.
His wings unfurled behind him, casting shadows across her body as they fluttered in pleasure, his thrusts picking up in pace. She was already a mess for him, her soft moans and the sinful sounds of skin slapping against skin filling the room. Her final breaking point was when his thumb reached down to rub against her clit again. He pulled away from her breasts to watch her. Her beautiful face was contorted in pleasure, eyes fluttering shut as he made her see stars.
Azriel’s breaths started to grow heavy, sweat glistening on his forehead as he felt his release surface. He let out a deep guttural sound as he spilled into her, his abdomen clenching and hips stuttering.
Valeria’s eyes opened at the beautiful dark sound that escaped from him to find him gazing down at her. The way he was looking down at her had her coming undone again, her walls pulsing around him and eliciting more whimpers from him as she milked his cock for every drop.
Her teary eyes, wide and wild, locked with his, her breath hitching as pure shock flashed across her features briefly. In that moment, it was just the two of them, filled with unyielding desire for one another. That intangible silver and gold thread radiated from the very depths of their intertwined hearts.
“Valeria,” Azriel couldn’t hold himself back any longer, three simple but powerful words hovering over the edge of his lips. “I—fuck.”
“Az?” She called out softly, watching as a shadow curled against his ear.
He kissed her lips softly, an apologetic look on his face when he met her gaze again. He pulled out of her, nearly groaning at the sight of his cum seeping out of her. The desire to lap it up with his tongue, to have her coming undone for him for the third time was strong. But his shadows notified him that there were footsteps approaching.
“I’m so sorry.” His voice cracked, his eyes swirling with an emotion Valeria couldn’t quite place.
“It’s okay.” Valeria was reassuring and full of understanding.
Yet she couldn’t help the ache in her heart as he disappeared into his shadows.
With a slight wince, she hastily got up and ran to her restroom to clean herself up. She adjusted her dress to cover herself back up again, discarding her torn underwear. She placed a glamor–a skill she had perfected– over herself to cover the scent of cedar and sex. She barely had enough time to compose herself before she heard the doors to her room burst open without a knock in warning.
She slapped her warm cheeks and took a deep breath, feigning nonchalance as she walked out of her restroom. But there was an inner turmoil within, her heart still heavy with the words Azriel had wanted to say.
“Oh Val! I’m so sorry for missing your performance! My father locked me away for a week!” Mor exclaimed, rushing toward her cousin and dramatically throwing her arms around her. She then pulled away, choosing to sit on Valeria’s bed with guilt in her deep brown eyes.
“It’s alright.” Valeria brushed off, her heart still racing from Azriel.
Mor frowned. It was evident by the look in Mor’s eyes that she knew all that transpired last week and she wasn’t surprised, considering Keir had been present when she confronted her father.
Valeria shifted uncomfortably, not wanting the memories of that night to resurface. Her eyebrow furrowed as she pushed thoughts of Azriel away and processed Mor’s initial words. “You said your father locked you away?”
It was now Mor who shifted uncomfortably. Her gaze fell, landing on all the jewelry that adorned her hand. She absentmindedly twisted one of the rings on her finger—a simple gold band with a small engravement of illyrian wings. Valeria recognized it as Mallory’s.
“He punished me for talking back to him.”
Valeria walked toward Mor, cursing the world for bestowing cold fathers upon them. She could sense there was more to it. While she would not be surprised that Keir would punish her for merely breathing, Mor’s eyes were telling that there was more to the story.
When Mor finally looked up, there were tears brimming her eyes. “I’m engaged, Val.”
Valeria’s eyebrows rose in concern. “What? To who?”
“Beron’s prick of a son. Eris.”
Valeria’s eyes widened. The heir to the Autumn Court had found his bride after all, and an immediate rush of anger coursed through her. She knew Mor had no desire to be married, dreading the day her father would force an engagement upon her. It was a day Valeria dreaded for herself too. Being a female in Prythian unfortunately meant being sidelined, deigned to breeding and parties and child-bearing.
“Engagements can be broken off as quickly as they are made,” Valeria told her, gently brushing a loose blonde curl behind her hair in a comforting motion. “We’ll find a way to get you out of this.”
“Thank you.” Mor’s eyes met Valeria’s warm violet ones.
She knew she could count on her cousin for anything, whether it was something as fun as learning how to pierce each other’s ears, having a shoulder to lean on when needed, or sharing their deepest secrets–secrets that not even Rhysand knew. Valeria would gladly be her partner in crime. Whenever, wherever.
Mor’s gaze then fell upon Valeria’s neck and let out a gasp. “Val…what is that?”
Valeria’s hand shot up to cover her neck, the exact spot Azriel had been fixated on earlier. The marks Azriel would leave on her body were usually covered by her clothes. This was the first time he had marked her neck and in her haste to cover the evidence of her scent, she had forgotten all about the physical evidence. She felt the heat rise to her neck before she could control it, mentally cursing herself.
Still, she desperately attempted to feign nonchalance.
“Nothing.”
“That is not nothing!” Mor insisted with a teasing smile. It was as if a flip switched inside her, her earlier sadness and grief replaced by curiosity and amusement. “That’s a hickey, isn’t it?”
Sensing the lie about to unfold on her tongue, Mor gave her a look.
“Why ask if you know the truth anyway?”
Mor squealed in excitement, urging Valeria to join her on the bed. She hadn’t heard any good gossip in weeks and she wanted to know more. “Who?”
“I can’t say.”
Mor’s jaw dropped and she let out another gasp as realization dawned on her. Valeria hated how intuitive her cousin could be, how quickly she could read her. She was glad Rhysand was not the same when it came to things like this, despite his daemati abilities.
“It’s him, isn’t it?”
Valeria’s silence was enough of an answer and Mor, with an amused laugh, dramatically threw herself onto the bed. “Val, you naughty girl!”
When Mor turned to look at Valeria, she found her cousin with her hands clasped over her face in sheer embarrassment, attempting to conceal the blush that colored her cheeks. “Tell me everything! Now!”
Valeria dragged her hands across her face, sending Mor a deadpanned look. “Aren’t we supposed to be discussing how to get you out of your current predicament?”
“You two fucked didn’t you?”
“Mor!” Valeria exclaimed sheepishly.
Mor’s eyes were glittering with delight. She propped her head on her hand as she looked at her mortified cousin. “Is it true what they say about Illyrian wingspans?”
There was a pregnant pause.
“Yes.”
And then Valeria was collapsing onto the bed as Mor had done, the two girls laying side by side as they burst into laughter.
“How?” Mor was then asking.
“I don’t know. It just happened.” Valeria replied with a shrug, staring up at the stars and fairy lights hung over her bed. “He wanted me and I wanted him and I know it’s wrong. I should’ve saved myself but I didn’t want my first time to be with whoever my father–” She winced at the mention of him “--deems worthy. There is very little I have a choice in but this, this is something I wanted to have control over. It may be silly but I wanted my first time to be special.”
“I have always felt something for Azriel. I never saw him like a brother the way I do with Cassian.” Valeria continued, feeling her heart pounding at her throat. She had never voiced her feelings aloud and it was terrifying but there was a weight being lifted off her shoulders–one she hadn’t realized she’d been carrying for a while. “I thought that maybe it was just a crush but after the first time we slept together, I wanted more. I still do. I want him. All of him and all the time and I’m scared…”
Mor frowned. “Scared?”
“Of what this could mean, of where this will lead us.” Valeria said, her eyes glistening and heart aching. “There’s also a lingering thought…that while he does care for me, it is all driven by attraction and other...” Valeria struggled to find the words. She didn’t want to say it out loud, voice her suspicions.
It wasn’t a lack of trust towards Mor. She trusted her with all her heart. But because saying them aloud would make them more real and she wasn’t sure she was ready to face it all yet.
"Other forces.”
The words that had almost slipped from Azriel’s mouth…she had an inkling of what they could be. They were words she was yearning to hear, she was sure of. Words that would mirror what she feels for him but something snapped in her earlier when their gazes locked. She wondered if he had felt it too, if that’s what had spurred him to dare to say those words and if it did, it brought a terrifying sense of uncertainty to her…
“Stop that.” Mor’s voice snapped her out of her thoughts. “What you and he have is not merely attraction or inspired by forces beyond our control. It can’t be. I’ve seen the way he looks at you since our first solstice together.”
Valeria allowed Mor’s words to comfort her, desperately clinging to them. She knew she should talk to Azriel but she didn’t want to let her insecurities and unease destroy what they have. Perhaps, it was selfish of her. But she would rather have him the way she does now than not at all.
Mor sat up with a sigh. She was happy for Valeria but also worried, knowing that the High Lord would not be accepting of the relationship between her and Azriel. There was also still the pressing matter of her engagement to Eris and all the implications that would follow. Her having to move to the Autumn court–away from the two people she loved most, Valeria and Rhysand. Not to mention having to give herself to the cruel prick and bear his children to secure him an heir.
No, she grimaced at the thought. She refused to allow that to be her future, a thought lingering in the back of her mind already. She turned back to look at Valeria, who remained laying in the bed. “Well, we’re fucked aren’t we?”
Valeria chuckled humorlessly in agreement. “Should we raid my father’s wine stash?”
“Are you sure you want to piss him off even more right now?”
“Fuck him.”
Mor then grinned as an idea sparked within her mind. “Let’s go to Rita’s!”
“Yes!”
“Absolutely not.”
Mor and Valeria whipped their heads at the intruding voice. They found Rhysand, who had appeared just in time to hear Valeria’s offer at raiding their father’s wine stash. He was leaning against the doorway with a smirk on his face and arms crossed. He hadn’t meant to sneak up on them, the door to her room was left slightly open. Anyone could’ve easily walked in.
His violet eyes were sparkling when he added: “Not without me.”
Mor’s grin widened. “Invite Az and Cass.”
It was decided then–that they would all go out to Rita’s for fun and a very much needed night out.
Mor winnowed back into Valeria’s room after being gone for a couple of minutes. In her arms, she carried a towering assortment of dresses. When Valeria had complained of having nothing to wear–despite her actually having plenty to wear, something Rhysand had annoyingly reminded her of–, she hadn’t expected Mor’s enthusiasm to let her borrow something of hers.
Valeria could barely see her cousin’s face and couldn’t help but laugh. With a huff, Mor threw the pile onto the floor and began to go through it, picking out the dresses one by one. She showed them to Valeria, who seemed to shake her head no to every one of them, until finally, something caught her eye.
Mor squealed in excitement and then insisted on allowing her to do Valeria’s makeup, reminding her that she had to cover up the hickey before anyone else noticed it.
**
The night was sparkling when Azriel spotted Valeria. When Rhysand had invited him and Cassian to go out tonight, his initial answer was no. That is, until he found out that Valeria was going. Always the gentleman, he had been waiting for Valeria and Mor to arrive to walk them inside while Rhysand and Cassian found them a table inside RIta’s.
His gaze darkened as his eyes swept over Valeria. The dress she wore was sinful, short and tight, exposing the luscious skin of her legs. The legs he was in between earlier, drawing wave after wave of pleasure from her...
“Hey, Az.” Mor called, pulling his gaze away from Valeria. The blonde motioned to her mouth. “You got a bit of drool there.”
His heart skipped a beat, body tensing as he was reminded he had to be more careful.
Valeria smiled at him, brushing her fingers against his hand as he guided them through the entrance. “Don’t mind Mor,” she whispered to him. He would have to ask her later but for the moment, Valeria’s calm demeanor was reassuring to his worries.
Azriel would’ve allowed his body to relax had it not been for the ravenous eyes that fell upon Valeria and Mor when they entered. His wings curled around the two females on either side of him with a glare, making Mor roll her eyes.
If he thought the dinner party with the High Lords was torture, boy did The Mother have something even more tortuous in store for the night.
**
The vibrant colorful fae lights cast playful shadows as Valeria and Mor moved effortlessly on the dance floor. The upbeat rhythm swirled around them, pulling them into the heart of the pulsating music. Laughing and swaying, they were engulfed in the euphoria of the club.
Mor, with her carefree spirit, spun around, her laughter filling the ear. “We should take more shots!”
“Yes!” Valeria was quick to agree, finding Mor’s energy infectious.
Grasping her hand, Mor led Valeria to the bar. Valeria let out a curse once they reached the counter. “I left my bag with Rhys.”
Mor’s lips curled into a smirk. “Oh my sweet Val, we’re not paying for our shots.”
She then placed her shoulder on Valeria’s, prompting her to turn slightly to her right. She found a handsome young male watching her with an appreciative gaze. He smirked at Valeria when he realized he finally got her attention. Mor leaned in to whisper in Valeria’s ears. “He’s been staring at you all night.”
“I’m not interested,” Valeria whispered back, offering the male a timid smile.
Mor giggled. “It doesn’t matter. Just act like it so he can buy us drinks! Quick, he’s coming!”
Valeria barely had enough time to act nonchalantly as the male approached them.
“Hello, beautiful.” He greeted her.
Valeria looked up. When she took too long to respond, she felt a slight shove from Mor. “Hi,” she managed to breathe.
“Allow me to buy you and your friend a drink.”
Valeria’s lips curled into a smirk that mirrored Mor’s. Was it really this easy? She found herself nodding at the interested male, teasing him as she leaned in to tell him what Mor and her wanted. The bartender was quick to prepare the shots, handing them out to the three of them.
The male licked his bottom lip, his gaze not leaving Valeria as the three of them raised their glasses. “To–”
“Fuck off.”
“Hey!”
Valeria glared as Azriel appeared out of nowhere and snatched the shot glass from her hand, downing it himself in one big gulp. Unlike the fae male, he didn’t wince as the amber liquid burned his throat. He glared daggers at the male, who was too close to Valeria for his liking.
Mor’s eyes darted between the two males and she downed her shot before Azriel could take hers too.
The male chuckled. “It’s alright, I can just buy you another one.”
Azriel’s lips curled up in a snarl. He stood tall in front of the male, towering over him and blocking his view of Valeria. His eyes were dark and full of rage. “I believe I told you to fuck off.”
“Azriel!” Valeria called to him sharply but he did not falter.
“You should’ve told me you had a boyfriend, gorgeous.”
“He’s not her boyfriend.”
It was Mor who had replied with a mischievous glint in her eye.
Azriel let out a growl, his fists clenching at his sides and a flash of hurt crossed his eyes. His shadows coiled and slivered up his shoulders, ready to strike like a venomous snake. The male was smart to take that as his sign to leave, recognizing that the glaring male in front of him was both an Illyrian and Shadowsinger. Someone not to be messed with.
But the male couldn’t help but glance at Valeria once more. “I’ll see you around, gorgeous.”
Azriel turned to the two females. A glare was still etched onto his face. Valeria felt his wing against her shoulders, shielding her from the male’s lingering gaze. She noticed the way it twitched, sensing he was irritated. She bit her lip, finding a sliver of delight in Azriel’s jealousy and a heat daring to pool in her stomach.
“What the fuck, Az?” Mor whined. “We were just trying to get free drinks!”
Azriel directed his gaze towards her, glare still on his face but now waning. Digging his hand into his pocket, he pulled out a handful of golden coins, brashly throwing them onto the counter. Mor’s eyes lit up at the sight.
His eyes were locked on Valeria’s when he spoke. “If you want a drink, you ask me.”
“Alright, then.” Valeria replied, holding his gaze in challenge. “Then take a shot with me.”
So Azriel did and then they were taking another.
After two more shots, the three decided to head back to the table they had picked out, surprised that no one else had taken it as Rhysand and Cassian were no longer seated there. Valeria shuffled into the booth beside Mor and Azriel seated himself across from them.
Valeria’s eyes darted around the hall. She couldn’t find her brother at the bar nor the dance floor. “Where’s Rhys?”
“Fucking some girl in the alley.” Azriel answered with a nonchalant shrug.
Valeria choked on her drink at his bold words. She had only heard him speak that way when it was just the two of them in the intimacy of her room. “And Cas?”
“Also fucking that same girl.”
Mor’s eyebrows knitted together while Valeria’s eyes widened. It was Mor who spoke next. “What about Tanwyn?”
“He says she doesn’t mind sharing.” Azriel shrugged again, uninterested in continuing the conversation. He was already accustomed to Rhysand’s and Cassian’s sexual endeavors. There was a short time, back when they had just discovered the pleasures of being with a female, that the three of them would bring a female back to the training tents to share.
Azriel had stopped joining them. He had stopped seeking pleasure with other females shortly after as he could no longer find the release he desired with them. He brought his drink to his lips as he looked at the reason why, who was sitting right across from him and avoiding his gaze.
“What about you?” Mor dared to ask, although she had an inkling as to where his desires were.
His gaze was still locked on Valeria as he spoke, his shadows dancing around him. “I realized I don’t like sharing.”
**
Valeria and Mor had returned to the dance floor. They had tried to convince Azriel but he did not give in, not even when Valeria had given him an adorable begging look. The music throbbed in their veins and they twirled to the rhythm. Their care and worries dissipated as they enjoyed the sheer fun of the moment.
A sentiment that Azriel, who had decided to watch them, did not share. He didn’t know what drink he was on but he could feel his heart pounding in his ears and the world begin to spin. He was still mulling over the male from earlier. He couldn’t blame him for being interested in Valeria. She was beautiful, after all.
What stung had been Mor’s words. He's not her boyfriend. While him and Valeria shared many intimate moments together, she was not truly his and he knew he was selfish to believe she could ever be.
Rhysand joined him at the booth moments later, reeking of sex and alcohol. He wore a smug grin on his face.
“What a shame you didn’t join us, Az.” He said, wiping away the glistening remnants of his endeavor on his mouth with his thumb. “What a tasteful little thing she was.”
Azriel only hummed in response. His eyes returned to the dance floor to the exact spot Valeria and Mor had been dancing in. His gaze softened, amusement flickering in his hazel eyes as they caught Cassian, who rushed toward the girls enthusiastically. He watched as Cassian swayed his hips to the music, almost grinding against Mor in a playful manner while Valeria, who danced in front of Cassian, cheered them on.
Azriel didn’t know when it happened but after engaging in light conversation with Rhysand and returning his attention to the dance floor, he found a shirtless Cassian. It wasn’t long before the dancing male had found a table to climb on. He waved his shirt around with one hand, a drink in his other. He chugged the drink in his hand as he moved his hips sensually, eliciting cheers from the dancing crowd. Mor and Valeria were among the crowd, throwing coins–the ones Azriel had left with them–at the dancing Illyrian.
“We should stop him.” Rhysand mused.
“Yes, we should.” Azriel quipped.
But neither of them made a move to do so.
They continued to watch their best friend make a fool of himself, bursting into laughter when Cassian lost his footing and fell off the table. Cassian had made his way back to their table, wings hanging low, clearly distraught over the way his performance had ended. His words were slurred as he complained to Rhysand and Azriel.
Rhysand and Azriel were in the middle of consoling the defeated Illyrian when Valeria and Mor appeared. Their hands were full as they carried shot glasses.
“A round of shots to celebrate the best performance ever!” Valeria exclaimed with a grin as she clumsily raised her glass.
Cassian’s head lifted from the table. “The best performance ever?”
“Best performance ever!” Mor echoed, encouraging the rest to grab a shot.
Cassian’s eyes lit up as he took the remaining shot glass. They all grinned at each other as their glasses clinged, cheering for Cassian and then they were downing the amber liquid in one go. The night continued on, full of more dancing and drinking.
Valeria had lost count on how many shots they had taken but it was enough to have them all stumbling their way out of Rita’s. She let out a curse as she looked at her brother and friends behind her, realizing they were too drunk to winnow back to the Moonstone palace and too far away from the House of Wind to fly.
Rhysand, who couldn’t remember his name but could remember all the lyrics to an old song, clung onto Cassian, who joined him in singing out loud. Mor was stumbling right behind them, lost in a fit of giggles. Valeria allowed them to walk ahead of her before she proceeded to continue but a large membranous wing came into her view, halting her in her step.
“Let’s fly back?”
Valeria laughed as she looked up at Azriel, who now stood in front of her. “I think we’re too drunk for that.”
“M’not.” Azriel objected with a hiccup.
Valeria raised an eyebrow at him and he responded with a defiant look on his face. She watched as he unfurled his wings, preparing to push off the ground. She reached forward in an attempt to grab his hand and stop him. He made it almost five feet into the air before he lost his balance and came crashing down.
“Az!” Valeria exclaimed but she couldn’t help the laugh that escaped from her.
She ran to Azriel to make sure he was okay, relieved that his injuries were nothing but a bruised knee. He looked up at her, still on his knees. His shadows danced around him, some reaching out to caress her face in a loving manner.
A sly grin formed on his face. “Looks like I’ve fallen for you.”
Valeria blushed. “Yeah, sure.”
“Sure? What do you mean sure?” Azriel’s lips pressed into a pout. A sight Valeria found absolutely adorable. “Are you mad at me?”
He was then wrapping his arms around her, burying his face into her stomach. “Please don’t be mad at me.”
Valeria ran her fingers through his soft hair.
“I’m not mad at you.”
“I love you.”
They said in unison.
Azriel’s three words hung in the air. She froze, her fingers no longer brushing through his hair, eliciting a small whimper from him.
“You’re drunk, Az.” She replied, her voice soft and quiet, opposite to the beating of her heart. “I’m drunk.”
“I still mean it.”
The fingers embedded into his hair made their way to his chin. She coaxed his gaze to meet hers as she lifted his chin up.
His eyes, glossy and tinged with red, still shone with an unmistakable longing and admiration–feelings he held exclusively for her. She reached out to lightly brush his cheek with her thumb.
“Then, I love you too.”
His eyes fluttered shut at her touch. “I want to be your boyfriend.”
“I want you to be my boyfriend too.”
Azriel inhaled sharply, his thoughts a swirling tempest like the shadows around him. He wasn’t sure if the alcohol was to blame entirely. He wondered whether her words were genuine or merely an agreeable response.
**
Valeria didn’t know how but by some miracle–perhaps thanks to the help of Azriel’s sober shadows–they found themselves in the middle of his room. His arms were still around her and head still resting on her stomach. She crouched down to shift one of his arms around her shoulder, looking at his shadows for help. They complied and together, they heaved him onto his bed.
The room around her was spinning and she lost her balance for a moment, the effects of all the alcohol still strong. She blinked the room into focus and her eyes darted around. She had never been inside Azriel’s room at the Moonstone palace.
It was neat and simple, adorned with dark shades of blue and black.
Her heart swelled when it landed on his nightstand and she recognized the worry dolls she had gifted him years ago, neatly placed. She noticed some were missing but she caught sight of one of them peeking out from his pillows.
When her gaze traveled back to Azriel, she found him propped on his elbows, looking right at her, awakening the butterflies in her stomach. His black dress shirt was rolled up to his elbows and unbuttoned, revealing the tattooed muscled skin below. His dark hair was tousled and earring glimmering under the fae lights. His eyes were hooded, clouded with admiration and lust.
He looked absolutely sinful.
Azriel smirked at her, spreading his legs further for her. There was a devious glint in his hazel eyes as he glanced to his lap and then back to her. “Won’t you join me in my bed, my pretty girl?”
Valeria bit her lip. Her legs were moving before she could form a proper reply. She didn’t hear the thud against the door or the footsteps behind her, too consumed by her desire.
But she did catch a figure out of the corner of her eye.
“I’ll be your pretty girl, my pretty boy!”
Valeria swayed on her feet as Cassian swept past her. He dashed for Azriel and threw himself on the bed. Azriel let out a groan, cursing under Cassian’s weight. It was then that Valeria heard Mor’s voice and she turned towards the open door just in time to see Rhysand face plant on the floor.
**
Cassian had been the first one to wake up, finding himself cuddled against Azriel’s back. Mor was on Cassian’s side, curled up against a pillow, snoring softly. When he sat up, he grimaced at the pounding in his head but also at the drool he had accidentally left on one of Azriel’s wings.
His eyes had then darted around the room, remembering that Rhysand had been the one to winnow them back to the Moonstone palace. It had taken a couple of tries to get them to the Moonstone palace due to Rhysand’s inebriated state. He had winnowed them to Windhaven right outside of Lord Devlon’s camp on accident first and then to the Sidra before finally succeeding. As soon as they had arrived at the Moonstone palace, Cassian had insisted they–him, Rhys and Mor–sleep in Azriel’s room as his bed was the largest and comfiest.
Cassian couldn’t help but let out a chuckle when he found Rhysand near the door. He remained on the exact spot he had face planted on. Except, he was laying on his side.
But where was Valeria?
A slight frown formed on his face as he searched for her. He could smell her so he knew she had to be in the room too. Something prompted him to look to Azriel again. He followed the curve of his wing–the one that didn’t have Cassian’s drool. His eyes widened, lips pressing into a taut line.
Hidden beneath Azriel’s wing and curled into him was Valeria.
His hands were pulling at Azriel’s shoulders, forcing him to lay on his back. Valeria shifted, turning the opposite way. Azriel let out a groan, squinting his eyes. “What the fuck, Cas?”
“Get up.” Cassian almost seethed. “Now.”

Debra Morgan v Women
The heading is mostly a joke. Mostly.
After season one, Debra only interacts positively with two women: Rita, Dexter's girlfriend, and Lieutenant LaGuerta. For some unknown reason, LaGuerta disliked Debra despite the latter being the sister of LaGuerta's crush. When Debra returns to work after recuperating from the ice truck killer's attempt on her life, she hugs LaGuerta. This could be a start to a better relationship between the two women, but they scarcely interact after this. Then, in season 4, the two begin bonding over boys. Seriously? If they really had to bond over a man, it should have been James Doakes. You know, Debra's mentor? LaGuerta's partner? The man who was "proven" to be THE BAY HARBOR BUTCHER? These two women have so much more to talk about than just boyfriends.
In light of Doakes' apparent guilt, Debra's hostility towards Yuki Amada seems bullheaded at best and strangely naive at worst. After an experienced sergeant was exposed to be a serial killer, you get a new partner. You find out that he's being investigated by Internal Affairs, and you aren't the least bit curious about why? Why doesn't she view her coworkers with more skepticism?
She's skeptical of some people right from the get-go: she despises Lila West, and rightfully so. Lila was a psychotic bunny boiler (though it's not like Debra knew that). The only women Debra seems to have a positive relationship with are the prostitutes she worked with when she was with Vice and Rita. In other words, she's particularly soft towards victims. This fits with Debra's vulnerability and sincerity, protecting those who have previously been hurt. I don't think that Debra's hostile interactions with women who don't fit this mold are a critique on the character herself but the writers. I'm interested to see what her relationship is like with Hannah, Dexter's new girlfriend. (I'm on season 4)

september ‘04, cont.—what's seen in shadows
“Mornin, son. Now what’s got you out of bed before noon, eh? Something wrong?”
Jeremy could faintly pick up the growl-hiss of his mother’s coffee machine in the background as she spoke. She was ribbing him, of course—with love, which was a phrase that functioned as holy writ. The sounds of home were there in the static, slipper shuffle and the last refrains of a wind chime that would have to be put away before the fall storms hit. Another wave of grief came rolling in.
“Nothing’s wrong.” he murmured.
He cleared his throat, realizing how direly unconvincing his intonation had been.
“Just- uh, just homesick, I guess. I'll be okay.”
His mom’s voice was filled with concern, “I don't wanna pry, baby. Don't make me start prying.”
Silently, Jeremy weighed his options. He couldn’t lie to his mom, but he’d rather cut off his hand and eat it than worry her with his stupid decisions. He heard the low hum of a car pulling into Mike's driveway.
“... I’m not really- I-I don't wanna go into it, yet… But I'm gonna be okay, ma, I promise.”
“Jeremy…”
Footsteps on the porch. This was his chance.
“Listen, I really gotta go, but I'll catch you later, kay? Tell Rita I said hi and that I’m really enjoying the Dykes to Watch Out For strip collection and that Bechdel brings up a lot of interesting viewpoints within modern feminist theory-”
“Jeremy!”
“Love you to the moon and back and maybe as far as Pluto! Bye!”
As soon as he slammed the phone down, he turned and caught someone in his arms. Nadia, he realized with relief. He took a breath and held her tight. Though her running-start-hugs were typically an overzealous habit that had resulted in more than a few dropped dinnerware accidents, it now felt like an immense comfort. It was a long time before either of them let go.
“There’s something I think you need to see, by the way.” Nadia blurted, pulling away with a serious look.
Someone else was standing stiffly in the doorway, a girl in a greasy t-shirt with coveralls tied around her waist. Gusts of cold air flushed in from around her, though she didn’t seem to feel it. She had brown skin and features that seemed familiar though, as usual, Jeremy struggled to pin down if she was someone he knew. Finally, he glanced to Nadia.
“That’s your sister, dude. She’s alive.” Nadia stated, helpfully, as though she were coaching him through the most emotionally ruinous playthrough of Putt-Putt Saves the Zoo since it debuted in 1995 on household computers across America. He could clearly picture a chorus of child-like fanfare and confetti bursting flatly into the air with a big sparkly party banner that read: JUST KIDDING!
“Oh.”
His sibling seemed equally at a loss for words. Frowning, she turned to look at Mike as he shuffled down the hall.
“Hey, Chucky. Shouldn’t you be at work?” Mike asked in a tone of perfect nonchalance.
“We don’t open until nine. Besides, Mrs. Lankauskas wanted to mop the cove,” She paused, pointing at Jeremy, “And that’s him. My long lost twin brother… But I guess you forgot to tell me, right? Like how you forgot to tell me what happened to Tom?”
Jeremy leaned closer to Nadia, stage-whispering, “Thomas was the last nightguard. I think he died on the job.”
“What the fuck?” Nadia shot back.
“Chucks, I know how it seems, but please don’t get upset-”
“Upset? You should be all the way mad, girl! Who the hell wouldn’t tell you that?!” Nadia put one hand on her hip while the other gestured towards Mike, practically bristling with rage on Chucky’s behalf. Despite the tension, Jeremy couldn’t help but admire her for it. After a moment of staring each other down, Mike caved and dropped his head into his hands with a defeated sigh.
Jeremy sat on the floor in front of the couch, leaning his head against Nadia’s knee as he stared at the bottle of pills Dr. Miller gave him. He rolled them around inside the bottle as he listened to Mike ramble on about convertible animatronic suits, secondary locations and random dates. The discussion was getting harder to follow.
“We had nothing to go on, for a couple months, but eventually I found some mentions of Dr. Miller—as far as the nitty gritty goes, his credentials were completely made up.”
Jeremy glanced up at Mike, who was pacing around in front of the TV as he spoke. He considered pointing out that he was currently holding a bottle of medication prescribed to him by the made-up doctor in question. At the pace Mike was speaking, it would be impossible to interject without interrupting him. Those pills could be anything, then; they were definitely illegal, or at least poisonous.
Jeremy felt Nadia’s fingers run through his hair. No matter how well everything else pieced together, there was still one glaring thought in the back of his head. It made his skin crawl and his thoughts derail into total cacophony to avoid it.
Breathe.
Jeremy inhaled, counted to five, then exhaled. His focus slipped out of the present moment and into a dark blanket fort in some dusty corner of his grandparents attic.
Show me how it happened.
Cassidy sat next to him in front of an old luggage chest, fiddling with one of the latches with her bandaged thumb. She was right: if he was going to accept that his sister was alive, he’d have to revisit what he believed to be her death in full definition, parse out what was true and examine what wasn’t.
It was raining hard that night. Deluge.
“I thought you and Charlie went home.” one of the big kids had said.
A sinking feeling seized him as he made his way to the main party room. He heard a noise from outside, like tires screeching. Where was the puppet? Someone had left a bunch of stuff on top of its box. As he scrambled to move it, a heavy cardboard box lurched off the side and fell onto his chest, knocking the wind out of his lungs. Bright bulk bags of slinkies, yo-yos and toy kazoos cascaded out, spilling around his head like a cheap plastic halo. Avalanche.
At least his plan succeeded. The security puppet wriggled free from its box and lifted him to his feet. He couldn’t see Charlie at the window. He couldn’t see her anywhere. Night-time.
There was a man outside who startled at the door opening, dashed to his car and sped off. Gone.
The puppet was gone, too. He looked back at the prize box. Empty.
He heard the sound of the garbage cans being pushed over from the alleyway, cans rolling across the pavement. Quietly, he crept to investigate the sound. Freezing rain was still pelting down, soaking through his sweater and filling his shoes with muddy water. Bursts of static and distorted words hissed out from the puppet, which had coiled around a lump of clothes. The static got deeper and slower, then stopped. His hand brushed something cold as he tried to untangle the puppet. It was a hand- Charlotte’s hand, limp and icy. Regret.
Recall.
Reunion.
Deluge.
The sensation of falling jolted through him.
High-pitched ringing was all Jeremy could hear, for a moment. His vision swam with the afterimage of something yellow, two empty eyes and a slack jaw, gaping at him. Someone was speaking, sound and syllables all mashed together like soggy cake on the plate of a kid who’s eyes were far bigger than their stomach.
“... What’s seen in shadows can be easily misunderstood in the mind of a child.” Chucky’s voice suddenly cut through the ringing in his ears, “Dad said that all the time, when I was little. Maybe he was trying to tell me something…”
He blinked, trying to center himself back in the current situation. They were in Mike’s living room, and Charlotte was alive. It felt surreal. If Charlotte was alive, then who else? He imagined Fritz-fricking-Sullivan currently tailgating someone in a red convertible he got for his sweet sixteen, young and reckless. It felt like too-sweet candy that had gone full circle and become its own kind of lingering bad taste.
Eugene sighed, “I don't think Mr. Emily is the right man to be sourcing wisdom from, right now, but you have a point. We’ve been working with a lot of assumptions, and it’s making things too complicated. Let’s go over the facts, alright?”
“In the early 80s, Henry Emily and William Afton opened their first restaurant: Fredbear’s. Ten years later, a rash of… Incidents… Began occurring, which caused a lot of personal and financial turmoil for the founders.”
“The missing kids thing?” Nadia asked.
“Well, yes, but that’s after River’s accident and after Henry’s divorce.”
“Okay, that’s when Jeremy’s mom hit the road… What accident?”
“Mike’s little brother, River. Older kids took a prank too far, and he got hurt.” Jeremy said.
He glanced at Mike, realizing too late that he’d broached a sore subject. Mike was staring at his hands, quietly picking at a reopened scar.
“That’s right… The original Fredbear and Springbonnie animatronics were fitted with springlock hardware. It let dad and Will use them as costumes in quick, off-stage interchanges by being wound to hold the free-standing endoskeleton back against the lining of the suit.” Chucky pantomimed winding a crank, “But some design issues also caused unpredictable misfires both in suit and animatronic modes. Too much moisture or movement, like a kid’s head getting shoved in the jaw piece, and—”
“They get the picture, okay?” Mike snapped.
Chucky went quiet, drawing back like a kicked puppy. Although she had failed to read the room before her mechanical tangent, Jeremy couldn’t help but share her stab of rejection. Shakily, he got to his feet. There was a lot he could say to Michael, at this point. His guilt complex was grating, he was still an unrepentant jerk, he was self-absorbed and self-centered, and worst of all; it was the lingering memory of a dream that lodged in his mind. The little boy, crying over the phone. River was reaching out, he realized, and after all that time, the first thing he did was ask for his brother to bring him home.
“I’m gonna go- go uh, take my meds.” Jeremy told Mike.
He needed to swallow that bitter feeling.

JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Vento Aureo OC: Zucca Korhonen
{I've been working on this for several days. While I will keep the old post, which has also been updated, up, I'm posting this as a new post.}
{Notice: Contains body horror, mention of suicide, general light gore, lots of blood.}
{Hildá Áile Gurbbet, legally Kurpitsa Lauri Kemppainen, born in the Suomi area of Sàpmi but moving to Italia at a young age and subsequently being raised there, was a... relatively normal child, all things considered.
Their general home and guardianship situation had some oddities, as they were frequently passed awkwardly between various legal guardians due to hectic family affairs and other assorted tragedies.
This trend of frequent relocation started when they were very young, still living in Sàpmi, after the suicide of their mother; the ensuing mental disintegration of their father made him a danger to be around for both himself and others, not to mention more than unfit to care for a very young child. Kurpitsa was thusly moved to live with their very Christian grandmother and less religious aunt in Helsinki.
This lasted briefly, perhaps a year or so; one day, they got home from school to a fleet of emergency vehicles. They were never told what had happened to their grandmother and aunt, but they'd heard in passing that there had been a gas leak, and they were left to fill in the blanks from that. They were effectively hauled off to stay with their aunt-in-law—their uncle's widow—in Italy, far from home (though they could never quite remember where in Italy it had been), until she, too, ended up dead; the death officially alleged to be the result of her actions following a psychotic break, even though she'd never been reported to have shown any symptoms of psychosis. They attributed it to a "very rare byproduct" of the grief of losing her husband. Kurpitsa wasn't sure they ever really believed it, but they hardly knew the woman anyway, so they didn't feel compelled to dwell.
Somehow, Kurpitsa seemed to skirt most of the direct trauma or grieving periods that one would expect to result from the deaths. This was perhaps due to factors such as them being too young to understand the death of their mother, much less the concept of suicide; never having seen the bodies of their grandmother (whose behaviour may have actually been more traumatic than her death, though it didn't seem to stick with them either) or their aunt when the two presumably died; and not having particularly close with their aunt-in-law—the woman wasn't even directly related to them and lived all the way in Italia, for crying out loud! Kurpitsa barely knew her, nevermind had any kind of relationship with her.
Perhaps, though, it was also because, instead of grieving—a natural and healthy thing to go through after such things—and dealing with trauma that should've theoretically originated from all the death surrounding them, they just got used to it.
The trend of these relocations was that they allegedly happened due to general mental instability within the older adults of the family or the vulnerability of more stable ones due to (occasionally supernatural-seeming) hazards of the area they lived in. Or otherwise, just in general terribly bad luck.
So it was a while until they finally settled to live in Napoli with their cousin, Rutabaga (who had changed her name from Lantuu to 'sound more Italian' and usually went by Rita) and uncle, Nauris, who kept his Finnish name and usually still called Rita "Lantuu".
The Korhonens were who they managed to stay with the longest, from between the ages of around 10 to 15, coming to see their cousin more like a sister and building a real relationship with the two. Ultimately, Kurpitsa took the surname of Korhonen—to attach themselves more meaningfully to their family—and, at some point, the forename Zucca, presumably to better fit in with their Italian peers, similarly to Rita, as they felt insecure with their distinctly Finnish name.
When Zucca was around 14, Nauris died—relatively peacefully, it seemed at the time—of "health complications", but ones that Rita swore up and down that her father was too young to have, so foul play must have been involved; she swore she was going to figure out what actually happened. Her opportunities and capability for this mission were, however, minimal.
At the same time, in the aftermath of the death, Zucca's cousin insisted that unless something better could be arranged, she was capable of and willing to responsibly care for Zucca. Her insistence was an attempt in earnest to offer some sense of stability to Zucca, allowing them to remain in the place they'd lived in the longest, with someone they'd lived with the longest, instead of dragging them off to some other family member (or worse, the system) instead.
Unfortunately, veneered stability could only do so much against alienation and mental instability; Zucca had hit the point where, despite their efforts to fit in with their Italian peers, feelings of isolation became a rampant issue, and the other chemical imbalances were becoming prominent. Being at the age of typical teen angst with a family history of Issues, even if their peers didn't alienate and ostracise them, the rut of anxiety and despair they'd hit was inevitable, and in a vicious cycle, being seen as "troubled" made them more alienated and ostracised.
But when they dared to finally tell Rita why their mood had tanked, Rita responded well with support and understanding to further foster the trust between them and (with the help of some... very low-end counselling they could afford) help Zucca find some foothold, at least some solid ground to stand on while travelling through teenage social darkness.
As far as anyone could tell, Zucca had finally met equilibrium and was in a relatively stable mental state, which was more than they could say for quite a few of the other people in their family, sadly.
But there was one hitch: Rita was a Stand User, whereas Zucca was not. Though they had no Stand of their own, through experience with Rita, Zucca developed at least some general awareness of Stands from Rita; they knew plenty about what, loosely, Stands "were", and, most importantly, how they were typically used for extreme and supernaturally-charged combat. They also had some idea of their cousin's Stand ability, or at least what it could do.
「Heart Demolition」, Rita's Stand, was rather intense. The way that Zucca understood it, through the transmission and reception of information, such as that spoken by mouth or written on paper, a fire could be ignited—the more upsetting the words, the more intense—either burning the mouth of the speaker, to great suffering; effectively allowing the speaker to "breathe fire", still to great suffering; or otherwise simply setting the paper alight, which really didn't bother the paper much although it certainly did it no favours.
Unfortunately, being an older-teen, younger adult Stand User in that area of Italia, living an admittedly quite challenging situation, especially in terms of finance, and most of all still particularly searching for answers she'd not had an opportunity to reach, Rita was led to the seemingly inevitable: attempting to join Passione. With the suggestion of a "friend" of hers, though Zucca wasn't sure which one—they'd later wish they did, they’d love to give them a piece of their mind—Rita had supposedly met with the so-called 'Polpo', and, as many others had, attempted an initiative test... omitting the fact, of course, that she already had a Stand, much like a to-be preeminent "Gang-star" later would, but with a far-less-victorious outcome.
Zucca, by then at the age of perhaps 15, like with Stands, had at least some vague awareness of what Rita was getting herself into; in fact, they knew a little more than they probably should've, to the extent of understanding the dubious nature of Passione, but still having faith enough in their cousin not to cast doubt on her decision.
When Rita explained what this test entailed, Zucca respectfully tried to keep their distance from the lighter so as not to interfere. Inevitably—though Rita had, at the last second, realised and attempted to salvage the flame—the lighter burnt out when her attention drifted for a few seconds too many.
Zucca, clueless as anyone else in their position would be, suggested that the lighter ‘hadn't burnt out, just very low’ and that, 'technically', if the flame was ‘fed’ without striking the spark wheel, then there would be no harm, no foul, surely, right?
They didn't have any matches in the house. Or other lighters, for that matter. Both were rarely a necessity. So Zucca instead suggested that Rita use 「Heart Demolition」, offering to write something on a paper for Rita to set alight, mostly just out of a desire to feel like they were helping. Rita, none the wiser and happy enough to let her cousin feel useful, so to say, attempted as Zucca suggested, setting the paper alight with a tiny flame.
Though the spark wheel had been untouched, the reignition of the flame, of course, summoned 「Black Sabbath」. A confrontation began, and Rita, though she tried her damned best, didn't have much room to escape or otherwise manoeuvre about, considering they were indoors. However, though they couldn't see what was happening and had no means of protecting themself, Zucca intervened anyway, trying to protect Rita or at least give her a fighting chance. Because they got in the way—perhaps trying to act as a distraction somehow—the Stand, it seemed, refocused on Zucca, ultimately piercing them with the Stand Arrow, to Rita's—and, well, surely their own—dismay.
Zucca's next memory was a blast of heat and blinding light, coupled with a wild burst of, perhaps, blood, from behind them. As if in ignorance of the situation, they turned their head; behind them, they saw Rita, standing for a brief moment—covered in bewildering lacerations from which bloodied razor blades of varying sizes appeared to emerge—before crumpling to the ground, motionless, the blades disappearing, her body seeming to dehisce from itself where the deepest wounds were. Odd movements came from some of the slices on her body, like eyes opening on her flesh—on second look, Zucca found that they were eyes, and making "eye contact" with one of these, they could see the memories of their cousin, leading right up to the memory of what had just happened, what Zucca's brain had failed to process, and at that, Zucca fall apart—literally.
With a burst of blood and a deep, internal, slicing agony through their whole being, Zucca—somehow still alive—collapsed as their own body, like they witnessed with Rita's, fell asunder, turning them into a shattered mockery of a human form. Despite this, they found themself still both completely conscious, cognisant and even able to move, though barely, between their body not being attached to itself and the combined numbness and immobilisation of the agony. Their ears rang, and where their vision landed first was upon the Stand that had attacked, remaining for a brief moment amongst firelight before it appeared to vanish.
The entire room had effectively been shredded to fragments and utterly torched, still ablaze, even, to the extent that the outer wall had a hole in it, the window blown out. Yet, somehow, nobody seemed to have caught on to the fact that anything had happened at the time despite the noise that they had so blatantly been deafened by and the fire, to Zucca's fortune and misfortune alike. The only thing left unscathed, it seemed, was the lighter, which Zucca reached out to, grabbed, and tossed into the inferno, not affording it a chance to burn out again, like it meant anything to them.
Somehow, they managed to get up partway, limbs reattaching as if they'd never come off, the places where the dismemberment had occurred marked only by pain and protruding razor blades, and pulling those out proved futile and agonising. They barely managed to lug themself over to their cousin, praying to find her alive, reaching out to touch her to... shake her, wake her up. But any chance of her survival was soon obliterated; as soon as a blade stuck in the palm of Zucca's hand came into contact with Rita, the razors that had retracted into Rita's skin suddenly re-emerged, ripping through her body entirely, completely dismembering her, to Zucca's abject horror.
Zucca remained in the wreckage amongst the flames, frozen in bewilderment, staring at the dismembered pieces and hoping one of the two of them would wake up. They were utterly unable to process after seeing what had just happened. But finally, from the corner of their eye, a glint off the metal of the lighter they'd thrown in their frenzy caught their peripheral and seemed to give them a twisted motivation.
Rita and 「Heart Demolition」 had passed the torch to them.
They manoeuvred over to collect the lighter despite the flames and stayed by the body, immobile and mourning, until they heard distant sirens at early daybreak as the fire had already dissolved to ash and, somehow, they were still alive. Whether the sirens were approaching them to finally investigate whatever unholy disaster had occurred in the Korhonen household or whether it was a coincidence, Zucca decided it was in their best interests not to find out. Besides, they had something to take care of.
Dazed, they somehow managed to stand, now whole again, yet the evidence of their wounds was still visible, the blades still lifting slightly from their flesh, but now hardly more prominent than thorns on a rose. Aside from the slice marks, they blatantly showed damage from the proximity to the fire, though this, too, was more subdued than it realistically should've been. Because, of course, between the fire, smoke, heat and dismemberment, they should have been dead.
Stepping through the ash and smoke, staggering as they struggled with the pain and the inability to focus, they made their way to their room, which the fire seemed to have failed to completely engulf. The clothes they'd had on were torn and scorched, and, setting the lighter down with no concern to further damage it could cause if something else caught alight, they did their best to put something less conspicuous on, only to tear up the new clothes in the process of putting them on. And giving up as the sirens were now fully audible, getting closer, they grabbed their longest coat, covering their head.
By the time anyone could be bothered to actually investigate the long-burnt-out fire and commotion—whether the delay had been out of fear or genuinely nobody had heard or seen anything—someone had already left through the hole in the wall instead of the door, gone to finish what someone else started.
And while it was unclear why the fact that she was a different person entirely seemed to be glossed over, nevermind how she managed to accomplish the heist-like task in the first place, Zucca left a member of Passione... and would very shortly thereafter, by chance, meet a very concerned young man known by most as Buccellati—concerned, no doubt, due to the fact that the young teen was... visibly not in a fantastic state at the time, on account of the whole 'not-really-doing-anything-about-the-injuries' thing, and probably looked entirely lost as her brain was now catching up and she had started to realise she didn't exactly have anywhere to return.
Zucca would soon learn that she now had a Stand.
「Razorblade Meltdown」.
Zucca Korhonen's deeply disturbing Stand, 「Razorblade Meltdown」, is a Close-Range Power Type humanoid Stand. Despite being a power type Stand, the type most typically suited for Stand-to-Stand combat, 「Razorblade Meltdown」 is actually quite rarely seen... as the Stand's ability makes Zucca herself quite the dangerous entity, and that's usually enough.
By use of her Stand, Zucca can bare dangerous razor blades that create deep slices in and extrude through her flesh, even to the point of dismembering herself, which she uniquely can survive and reconstruct at will, though, unsurprisingly, it does appear to be quite excruciating to do so.
This effect is typically inflicted upon others—often on a non-fatal scale—to make use of the 「Razorblade Meltdown」's actual primary ability; when a victim is subject to the slicing effect of the Stand, these slices open into eyes, and making eye contact with these allows you to see the victim's memories.
The effect and, subsequently, the ability, is typically inflicted through contact with the Stand or, more commonly, contact with the blades (or sometimes her blood) when she's using the ability on herself.
The most direct way to inflict the effect upon a victim is when the victim makes contact with the blades coming out of Zucca's skin, which will typically impose a critical-severity full-body impact, and if Zucca is not focused on controlling the ability, can often lead to death. Making physical contact with her blades twice will almost always kill someone immediately via dismemberment. The ability's effect can be undone—though the injury and pain will still be evident—but whether this happens can be case-to-case.
The drawback of her potent ability lies within one simple fact: she must have a genuine mental breakdown or panic attack to effectively use 「Razorblade Meltdown」 (especially to utilise the ability in, say, combat). Typically, in doing this, she extends the effect through every available spot of her body, and the razors extrude to a severe degree, sometimes even "shooting out" and damaging everything around in the most extreme of circumstances.
While her ability is massively powerful and a great asset to have both for combat and for interrogation, it also makes her insanely dangerous to be around while active; she cannot be safely approached until the ability deactivates, but the ability won't deactivate unless she mentally stabilises / calms down or passes out; so it's a bit of a catch-22 in that regard, and she can be seen as a liability because of it... There's also often a lot of screaming. Again, it's quite painful.
Though she is prone to cry while using her Stand, this isn't generally as well-known as the very obvious screaming; often, by the time anyone approaches her, once her ability has been neutralised, she's already stopped.
She can be a bit concerning to be around for those with a touch more empathy, such as most members of Buccellati's inner circle; because her ability requires her to have a breakdown or be pushed past her limit mentally to be used effectively, she often keeps herself on the brink of hysteria or keeps traumatic wounds fresh so she can send herself into a mental or traumatic breakdown if ever she needs to use her ability, instead of trying to figure out if she could learn to use the ability in a stable mental state.
As a result of this self-destructive "necessary evil", she's easily spooked and often struggles to control her own tears seemingly at random. Though she can be pretty friendly and fun to be around, she also, at times, zones out, struggles to even speak and suddenly isolates herself from a conversation group out of fear, anxiety or general self-consciousness. If she doesn't seem tense, she usually looks quite tired instead, which she attributes to the frequent blood loss that comes with using her Stand.
While not necessarily a member of the immediate primary group associated with Buccellati, she falls within the same sort-of "sector", to put it loosely; she at the least works with them frequently but possibly belongs to a 'parallel' group. It would seem that Buccallati's group is, perhaps, a bit more compassionate to her than her own group, which might be the thing that's starting to balance her out.
Initially, her intention lacked the desire to be involved with the organisation. Something of the opposite, actually; on a surface level, she blamed 「Black Sabbath」 - and Passione by extension - for her cousin's death despite holding significantly more turbulent feelings buried within her regarding the event. Still, despite joining with a hunger for revenge, she instead found a sense of family to substitute for the one that had been taken from her and soon lost the will to harm them.}
Update 19.12.2023: Polished up and refined the story. Changed some details and corrected some unclear wording. Update 10.1.2024–16.1.2024: Added new pictures. Still a bit hasty, but better.
Update 4.5.2024: Grammatical revisions.

And they both eat their chicken sandwich " this chicken sandwich is very delicious baby says mercedes as she takes another bite of her chicken sandwich and takes a sip of her coca-cola " now you know why I love eating at this restaurant and do you want to eat at this restaurant every now and then baby girl says maia " I would love to eat at this fast food restaurant every now and then baby says mercedes " is this chick-fil-a restaurant now your favorite restaurant or is Starbucks your favorite coffee restaurant baby girl says maia " how about both cause I love coffee from Starbucks baby says mercedes " do you want me to buy you a Starbucks coffee tomorrow before aew baby girl says maia " I would love to have you buy me a Starbucks coffee tomorrow before we arrive at aew tomorrow baby says mercedes as they both continue to eat their chicken sandwich

Then 30 minutes later as they arrived back at the house as maia pulls into the driveway abs she puts the car in park " quick question, how would you feel if my wife called in the middle of us fucking each other during sex papi says mercedes as she grabs her shorts and panties " I would probably be agitated if your wife called in the middle of us fucking baby girl and let's fuck in the house instead baby girl says maia as she puts her dick back in her jeans and boxers as mercedes puts her panties and shorts back on " I don't have a problem with that papi says mercedes seductively to her girlfriend as it is 6pm and they both get out of the car and they both close the car doors and maia locks the car
" if my wife does call in the middle of us fucking, I'll have to keep from moaning while I talk to my wife during the phone call papi says mercedes as they both head towards the front door " that's not going to stop me from fucking you if your wife calls slut says Maia as they arrive at the front door of the house " you know i always lie to my wife and she can never tell the difference about when I'm lying or telling the truth papi says mercedes as maia unlocks the door with the house keys " I can tell if you're lying to me or not slut says Maia as she opens the front door and they both head inside the house and maia goes to the key bowl and she puts the house keys and the car keys in the key bowl as mercedes closes and shuts the door and as soon as mercedes locks the door and turns around, she gets pinned to the wall by her girlfriend
And maia grabs her girlfriends hands and she pins her girlfriends hands above her head " I'm in charge now whore and we are going to fuck a lot more harder during sex slut says Maia with dirty talk to her girlfriend " yes daddy and I love what you are doing to me papi says mercedes seductively as maia smashes her lips onto her girlfriends lips as they aggressively French kiss with tounge and then maia moves her hand down towards her girlfriends covered tits and she gropes her girlfriends covered tits as mercedes moans in pleasure through the kiss " please take off my shorts and Panties and rub my pussy daddy says mercedes without breaking the kiss " only at the couch whore says maia as she pulls away from the kiss as she takes off her girlfriends shirt

“Naw, girl. You ain’t staying here. Not your time yet.”
It was still black. Alone in the dark, she thought she recognised the male voice speaking to her, but it wasn’t possible. He was long gone. Everything felt cloudy, hanging low over her senses like a dense morning fog, her head pounding.
She could hear the chorus of the song Ramble On by Led Zeppelin playing before she opened her eyes and sat up with a jolt. Her surroundings were familiar, but what the hell she was doing in The Dungeon, a rock bar in the heart of Arlington, Texas, she didn’t have the faintest clue.
“Did you fuckin’ hear me? I said it ain’t your time yet.”
That voice again. Spinning around, her heart rocketed into her throat, for sitting there beside her was the man she’d missed since he was taken much too soon from the world eight years before, his curls just as wild and his beard still as bright pink.
“Dime?”
He held his arms wide. “The one and only, Burton. Oh, ‘cept you ain’t that any longer, are ya? Getting married an’ all that.”
“Dime, am I fucking dead?” she cried, reaching to grab his arm, watching him frown.
“Still don’t fuckin’ listen to me, do ya?” Sliding an empty shot glass over the smooth wood towards her, he filled it with Jack Daniels, nodding at it. “I said it ain’t your time yet! So no, shit head. You ain’t dead but fuck, you ain’t staying!”
There was a sudden burst of bright light, voices shouting all around, hands grasping at her, machines beeping, one beginning to drone. With a violent shake, she was back out of it, reaching for the glass and knocking it back in one gulp. “What the bloody hell was that?”
“The medical team working on ya,” he spoke, refilling her glass. “I’ll happen, that light’ll keep hitting on ya. Don’t fight it, no matter how much it hurts. I didn’t get it, man. Never came back for me.” He looked lamenting for a brief second, his face then breaking out in a smile. “Sure is good to see ya, JB.”
Her lip began to wobble, Dime shaking his head, pulling her into his arms. “Naw, none of this bull crap, little sister.”
“I miss you!” she sobbed, feeling him pat her back as he hugged her tight. Dimebag hugs always bent your bones the wrong way for as long as they lasted.
“And I miss you, too, bud. I miss you too.” Leaning away, he sank another shot, refilling hers, too. “Remember when I bought you here after the tour, when y’all didn’t wanna go home, so you guys came and crashed at my place for a month, and we got wasted every damned day?”
What a month that had been, Jade living with Dime and his longtime girlfriend, Rita, for four weeks of what was essentially an after tour afterparty, Jen and Jess with her, too.
She smiled, because of course she remembered that night, a gigantic storm hitting Arlington, lightning cracking the sky, the rain pelting down beyond imagination, and she and Dime dancing in it outside of the bar together. It was one of those moments she’d never forget for as long as she lived.
“Of course, I do.” She remembered it, her heart warm and soft while looking into his kind eyes. “So, if I’m not dead, why am I here?”
He shrugged, sinking his drink, Jade following suit. “Fucked if I know. I’m just keeping ya company while y’are.” The light hit her again then, the pain indescribable, the machine still droning a long noise. “Hey, stop fighting it, Skip!”
“I’m not, and don’t call me that! Only Jen gets away with it,” she protested, before once again she fell under the affliction of the light, this time a door crashing open across the room, the entire bar filled with its brilliance. “Dime, I’m scared.”
He jumped down off the barstool, taking her face in his hands. “Don’t be. It’s gonna be alright. You’ll see.” He pressed a long kiss against her forehead. “Go on. Go. Keep rockin’ it, Burton. Remember who the fuck you are, y’hear?”
She nodded, a huge lump swelling in her throat. If only she could take him with her. “I will. I promise. Love you, mate.”
He rested his forehead to hers, blue eyes shining brightly. “Love you too, girl.” The scent of Jack Daniels, weed and Axe body spray lingered in her nose, the smells she associated with him for a few moments before she opened her eyes again, the white light burning, nothing around her, nothing at all.
While to her, sitting in The Dungeon had felt like a trip of mere minutes, in reality three weeks had passed, Jade rushed in for emergency treatment at a hospital close to home before being flown down to New York Presbyterian via helicopter once she was stable enough to be moved. Her father had organised it, wanting his daughter under the care of a team he knew, the best team she could be cared for by, in his opinion.
Three stab wounds, two to her lung and one narrowly missing her kidney and significant trauma to her head after she’d collapsed and hit it upon the driveway. She’d haemorrhaged massively, flatlined twice in surgery, been moved to Manhattan and operated on again to fix the persistent internal bleeding that continued to cause issues before being placed in a medically induced coma to allow her brain the vital time it needed to heal.
Throughout it all, after leaving Italy earlier than scheduled in blind panic once he’d had the heart stopping news relayed to him, one man had refused to leave her side for more than a few minutes at a time.
“There has been an incident at home. It’s your wife, Mr. Brody. She has been stabbed.”
Those words had played in his head more times that he’d cared to count in the three weeks between, and they sent his bloody glacially cold every single time. He’d never known fear like it, nor the rage that had followed, how a dangerous lunatic had been on the run from her care facility for two days, and nobody had thought to notify the people she would likely run straight in the direction of. Well, person, as it was, since he hadn’t been home. The truth was, though, she had found her intended target, somehow believing in her broken mind that if Jade was dead, it left the path clear for her and him to be together.
The care facility had felt every single last drop of his furious outrage when he had called them to speak to the director, wanting to know how the hell they could have failed their duty of care so badly that a patient had not only escaped, but almost succeeded in murdering his wife.
He was given some bullshit, textbook response, Adrien weighing up whether to take them to court over it. Jade wouldn’t want him to, he knew that, and he did still swing between bringing a private suit against them, even though the police handling the case had said they were currently under investigation for gross negligence because of what had happened.
Serena was shortly to be brought behind the kind of bars she couldn’t escape, once she herself had been discharged from hospital. It was the only thing that made the whole nightmare even slightly manageable, the fact that his wife had literally beaten her to a pulp in defending herself. A broken cheekbone and nose, a dislocated jaw and a fractured skull. She had, as Katie had coined it, fucked her up good.
He smiled as he thought of that, never usually the type to take pleasure in somebody else’s pain, but in that instance making an exception. Stretching, he circled his neck a few times, his current sleeping arrangement not doing that or his back much good. Because of who he was, but even more so, because of who his father-in-law happened to be, the staff had allowed him to sleep on a cot at night beside her bed, his refusal to leave her so great.
Reaching for her hand again, he stroked the soft skin covering her knuckles. “Got your car fixed. Well, Katie did. She took it in a couple of days ago. She’s staying up at the house, looking after everything while we’re down here.
“You scared the shit out of her, you know. She heard all the commotion, thought there was an issue with the Amazon driver she was waiting in for after hearing all the sirens wailing. Thought he’d crashed or something. She said it was messed up that she was one of the first people to see the aftermath of both you and Jen nearly dying over a space of almost three years and that you could both, and I quote, fucking go to hell for scaring her like that. Cops had to pull her back from kicking the shit out of Serena, even though you did a very good job of that yourself.”
Her hand twitched on his, and it sent his heart into flutter. There’d been a few little reactions here and there in the twelve hours since she’d been slowly brought around from the medically induced coma, her eyes opening a few times, too. He was told it would be a gradual process, though, her regaining full consciousness. All he cared was that she eventually would. Her prognosis was good, her healing in line with the expectations of her doctors, although she had a long road ahead of her.
With that in mind, he had gotten himself out of all work commitments and public engagements for the foreseeable, handing everything over to his people to extract him from, his duties as a husband coming first. Oh, she was going to be a nightmare, having to rest while she healed. Of course, he was in it for the nightmares as well as the good times, the fact she would be difficult and try to do too much too soon, the likely tantrums at having to do as she was told.
Smiling as he thought of her probable indignance, he rested his head down by her thigh, kissing her hand. “It’s way too quiet around here, you in a room and no noise,” he spoke softly. “Well, not that you’re particularly loud when you’re just relaxing at home anyway, but you get what I mean.” Tiredness washed over him in waves, not having slept too well that night, his eyes growing heavy again.
He fell into the void of restful slumber for a few hours before the door closing roused him, Adrien looking up to see his father-in-law approach, holding out one of the two cups of coffee he’d bought.
“You look tired, son,” he spoke softly, his eyes kind. Adrien’s utter devotion to his daughter and all-out refusal to leave her side had touched him beyond words. ‘That’s a damned good guy right there, our son-in-law' he’d told his wife as they’d watched through the window on Jade’s second night at his hospital, their precious first-born recovering from her surgery, her husband holding her hand to his face as he’d stroked her arm.
“I am, but I’m still not going home.”
Steven laughed softly through his nose. “I think we’re around ten days past me trying to get you to go and rest properly, so I shan’t continue flogging that particular dead horse.” Logging onto the hospital system on the iPad he carried under his arm, he picked out her most recently made notes, studying them before checking her over. When he came to test her pupil reactions to light, a frown creased her forehead, Jade making a soft noise of complaint. “Hey monkey, you back with us yet?”
“Hmmnrrgh.” Her eyes opened briefly, fluttering shut once more, her dad stroking her head.
“All in your own time. Lord knows, getting you to rest has been an uphill battle for the past thirty-four years. I suppose I shouldn’t complain that you’re finally doing it.” Turning to Adrien, he shook his head, pointing at his daughter. “As soon as she learned how to walk, when her feet hit the floor for the first time each morning, she would be on the go constantly. Naps? Forget it. I often thought about stapling her to a seat just to get her to rest, but she always had something to do.”
“Some things never change,” he spoke, knowing that was very much the person his wife was, moving through her life from one project to the next, her drive and determination to fulfil all of her ambitions just as huge as his own was. “I was just thinking to myself that she’ll be a complete nightmare while she’s recovering. Trying to get her to rest is, as you rightly worded it, always an uphill battle.”
“Get Groucho to lie on her lap. That’ll keep her still.”
Adrien laughed, thinking of his beautiful, slightly insane dog. “You know, he only does that with you, lying across a lap. He’ll sit next to us, lean on us, but he only does the full flop for you.”
“He loves his grandpa,” Steven chuckled. “Anyway, I’ve been in surgery for hours, so I’m going to the on-call room to get a little shut eye before I’m back down there this afternoon. I’ll call in this evening on my way home.”
“And it’s just me and you again, Moo,” he spoke once Steven had left, moving himself to sit on the edge of her bed, reaching for the bag containing all the miniatures of her skincare items, little things Jen knew she used and had gone out and bought. If Jade was a stickler for anything, it was taking good care of herself. “So, this is what I have to start with, after watching the noisy one do all of this for you. Tata Harper hydrating floral essence. Mmm, smells good.”
He decanted a little onto a cotton pad, moving her hair and gently sweeping it over her face. “I bet I’m doing this wrong, but I feel good husband points should be earned for trying.” He then followed it with her eye cream, something labelled at skin caviar, and finally, the face cream that he’d almost fainted when Jade had told him how much it cost. “I still can’t believe you spend seven hundred dollars on lotion. You’re fucking insane, Burtie. But you have no wrinkles, so it must be doing something. You’d still be a knockout if you had, though.”
He finished by dotting her lips with the same seven-dollar lip balm from The Body Shop that she’d worn since her teen years, thinking she wasn’t so bad in her skincare that she’d continue to use items that cost significantly less if she liked them. “There, all fresh again, with very kissable, mango flavoured lips.” Leaning down, he kissed them softly, the sensation of her not returning that kiss still somewhat odd to deal with. “Please wake up soon, baby love. You might be right here, but I miss you so much.”
He sat with her reading over scripts he’d been sent for projects way into the future for the rest of the afternoon, only leaving to head for a cigarette or grab a sandwich. He was fast tiring of them, so later that evening after he’d quickly been to take a shower, there was an extra reason he was happy to return to see Jen wedged in at Jade’s side, reading to her.
“You have been my friend. That in itself is a tremendous thing. I wove my webs for you because I liked you. After all, what’s a life, anyway? We’re born, we live a little while, we die. A spider’s life can’t help being something of a mess, with all this trapping and eating flies. By helping you, perhaps I was trying to lift up my life a trifle. Heaven knows anyone’s life can stand a little of that.”
Charlotte’s Web. It had remained her favourite book since her childhood, Jen holding in her hands the first edition copy from nineteen fifty-two, a little gift for her when she finally woke up. He thought it was the sweetest thing, that she read to her, and had done since her arrival in Manhattan. She narrated anything from current affairs to the books she was reading herself, before a few days prior it had dawned on her that being read her favourite book when she visited would be a nice thing to do.
At her core, Jen was much more sentimental than she’d ever let on.
Looking up at he closed the door softly, she smiled, lifting her glasses to her head. “Homeslice! I was wondering where you’d gone,” she began, pointing to the cabinet beside Jade’s bed. “Gotcha dinner. Salmon, broccoli and noodles from that place down the block. I had the chicken version, and it was amazing! They don’t pile it in MSG so it still has that nice, fresh flavour, y’know?”
Greeting her with a kiss, he gave her a huge hug, very thankful to be looked after so well when she came to visit. It was daily when she could manage it, but at that precise moment in time she was busy working as a session drummer, filling in for Tommy Clufetos on Ozzy Osbourne’s next solo release, which would involve taking over for him for a small chunk of the eventual tour, too. “How’s the recording going?”
“Pretty good,” she nodded, moving to a seat at the beside instead, Adrien sitting down opposite from her to begin eating. “It’s all relatively simple. I go on there, record what I gotta, it gets sent to the studio on the West Coast and Ozzy either approves it or sends it back with notes on what he wants if he ain’t vibing with it. He’s so easy to work with, though. Such a down to earth guy, man.”
Adrien remembered that, meeting the legend himself at a music awards ceremony the previous year when he’d attended with Jade and the girls, Ozzy and his wife Sharon very, very nice people. They’d sent a gorgeous arrangement of deep red calla lilies for Jade to the hospital, along with a card wishing her a speedy recovering and sending their love.
The room was so full of flowers, in fact, that many of them had been taken to be dotted around the nurse’s station, too. Even Cher had sent her roses, beautiful, long stemmed white ones. God, Jade would be so pissed off to have missed out on that particular role, playing the legendary icon, the production’s second choice actress having to fill in at a moment’s notice after the incident that had rendered Jade incapable of fulfilling her obligation.
“And are you still pinching yourself?” he asked, popping open the takeout container and happily digging the chopsticks in. Ahhh, real food.
“I am,” she confessed, her smile widening. “It’s a total dream come true, getting to work with Ozzy himself. I still can’t believe it, that he called me personally to ask. Don’t matter that we as a band have been friends with him for years and toured with him before, it still fucking blew me away, y’know?”
He understood it well. Being sought out by directors he’d always admired still caused him the same amount of excited disbelief, Adrien thrilled for her that she was getting to work with one of her biggest musical influences.
“Has she moved at all, while I’ve been out?” he asked, gesturing towards his wife with a piece of broccoli he duly popped into his mouth.
“A few twitches,” she sniffed, “opened her eyes once but nothing other than that. They’re lowering her doses steadily though, aren’t they?”
He nodded in confirmation, swallowing the mouthful of food before replying. “They have been, yeah. It’s been twenty hours now, though, so she should be coming round more. For a woman who needs such little sleep, this is very uncharacteristic.”
“Mm, I like a nap, though.” Their eyes snapped to the bed after hearing those croaky, quietly muttered words, finally seeing their girl begin to truly come round more than she had over the past few days. “Hey.”
“Hey Skip!” Jen cried softly, her eyes filling with tears, pressing the button to the side of the bed to alert the nurse. “Where ya been, huh? We’ve been waiting, waiting, waiting while you’ve been fucking dozing. Lazy bastard.”
“Fuck you, Jennifer.”
Oh, she was back, alright.
Turning to where Adrien had moved to the other side of her bed, she reached out for his face. “Kisses, please.” He was only too happy to oblige.
“How’d you feel, baby love?”
“Ouch,” she whispered, grimacing slightly.
“Yeah, I can imagine.” He beamed, kissing her again. “It’s so good to see you awake.”
Her eyelids fluttered again, not looking a hundred percent with it. “Where am I? And why aren’t you in Italy?”
“Well, I was. Do you remember what happened?”
She nodded. “Serena. How bad did she get me? She had a bat; did she knock me out with it? My head feels like she did.” It was all very fuzzy, her memory patchy where what had happened to her was concerned, only able to remember little flashes. Her eyes then widened. “The babies!”
“They’re fine, honey. Katie is up at the house with them. They weren’t hurt, just mad as hell, according to the police who attended the scene,” he told her, watching as she visibly relaxed again. “And no, she didn’t. You had head trauma from hitting the driveway when you collapsed, that’s why you’ve been in a medical coma for three weeks. She stabbed you, though. Three times, twice in the lung, and the other just round to the side of your waist.”
“Three weeks? Shit.” She coughed a little, Jen pouring her a beaker of water, placing a straw in and holding it to her mouth. “Thanks, mate.” Taking a few sips, she felt instantly refreshed, the steady stream of oxygen fed in through the little tubes beneath her nose helping, her chest hurting as she tried to keep calm in the wake of hearing what had happened to her. “I don’t remember it all. I got out of the car, and the rest is a blur. A lot of pain, blacking out. Fuck, my chest hurts. How big was the knife she used?”
“Small, thankfully,” Adrien sighed, reaching to stroke her face, Jade resting her cheek into the cup of his hand, sniffing as tears began to roll down her cheeks. “Shhh, baby. It's okay, you’re safe.”
Her left lung ached, taking shallow breaths as she calmed down, gripping his hand hard, feeling Jen stroking her other arm. “Where is she?”
“St. Joseph’s in Syracuse,” he confirmed, “which is where you were, too. Your dad arranged for you to be transferred here, though. He wanted Lucy to oversee your care and operate on your again. You’ve had two, to fix the damage and then go back in and get a persistent internal bleed patched up.”
Lucy Cho. She was the best general surgeon in New York, one of Steven’s oldest friends and also Jade’s godmother. “Aunt Luce fixed me up?”
“Yeah, she did. She’s been in here yelling at me every few hours to go home and get some rest, too.”
That sounded very much true to Lucy’s form. “And what about Serena now?”
“Well, like I said, she’s still in the hospital. You banged her up pretty good, fractured her skull, dislocated her jaw and broke her cheekbone and nose. Smashed her head off the back of your Jeep, apparently.”
A flash of memory came back to her, remembering it, the taillight cracking as she rammed Serena’s head into it so hard, the lens shattered. “I remember that bit, now you mention it. What’s happening next, jail, or what?”
“She’s under arrest for attempted murder, police guarding her, cuffed to the bed and all that pending a psyche evaluation. If she’s deemed competent then she’ll stand trial. If not, a maximum-security unit for the criminally insane, so the police have told me will likely happen.”
That was reassuring, at least. Not that her ending up in hospital should have been the catalyst to it coming to that. “At least she can’t escape this time. I’m sure it’ll hit me at some point, the gravity of what happened, but I still feel so spaced out.”
“You need to rest, babe,” Jen told her, pressing the button again. “Where the hell is the damned nurse?”
“Which’ll be so easy for me, with you here throwing a fit,” she chuckled, turning to Adrien. “And you look like you’ve slept for about three minutes over the last three weeks. Go home. Go to sleep. That’s an order.”
“Can’t, don’t have the apartment keys on me.” Jade had never sold her place in the West Village, the abode useful for when they were visiting Manhattan for work commitments, having a place to stay right there.
“I’ve got your spare set at home, I can get a cab and drop ‘em here within an hour,” Jen spoke.
He shook his head. “No rush. Despite what the dictator here says, I’m not going anywhere just yet.” Jade opened her mouth to speak, Adrien pointing at her. “No. No arguing. I’m fine.”
The nurse arrived shortly after to check her over, a doctor ten minutes after that. She had her dressing changed, Jade having a little cry all over again to see the severe bruising and stitched up stab wounds, noticing that a chest drain had been fitted to her as well to prevent her lung from collapsing, as it had in the hours after her second surgery.
“Will this affect my ability to continue my musical career?” she asked the doctor, feeling tingly with nerves at what she might be told.
“Not long term, no. You’ll be out of action for at least six months, though. You’re making very good progress, and I’m happy for the drain to be removed tomorrow. I think tentatively, we could be looking at around another few days of hospital care. I want you to be scanned again tonight, so we’ll take you down shortly, but yes, Mrs. Brody. Everything looks good.”
What looked really good to her was the fact that the food at the hospital actually wasn’t bad at all, Jade choosing a chicken pot pie and fries for her dinner, but only managing half. That was to be expected, since she’d been fed through a tube for the last three weeks. After her scan, she was brought back up, finding Jen still there reading, and Adrien asleep in the chair.
“Oh yeah, Brody,” she spoke quietly, “sure, you’re fine.”
“He’s been on a cot every night since you got here at your bedside, refused to leave you. Your dad pulled a hell of a lot of strings for him to be able to stay,” Jen revealed, Jade smiling at her husband, her love swelling. She’d have been exactly the same, should their places be switched.
“He’s the best.” Turning to Jen, she reached for her hand, squeezing tightly. “Thanks for being here, too. I love you.”
“Love you too, babe. It’s what we do, y’know? Always gonna be here for my Skip,” she replied fondly.
She hesitated a moment, wanting to reveal what she’d experienced while unconscious. It was silly, though, she soon reasoned. However, if there was anyone in the world who likely wouldn’t brush it away, it was Jen. “Something happened while I was out, you know. I think... but I don’t know, it might’ve been a dream, but I think I went somewhere else for a while.”
“Yeah?” she spoke, leaning forward while gently massaging Jade’s hand for her. “Where’d you go?”
“I’m not sure, but Dime was there.” She felt stupid even speaking it aloud, waving her other hand dismissively. “It was probably a dream. They likely had me doped up with all kinds of crazy painkillers.”
“It might not have been, y’know?” Jen shrugged. “So, what happened?”
“I just suddenly woke up and I was in The Dungeon in Arlington with him. I dunno, if there’s some small chance it wasn’t a morphine addled dream, maybe I stumbled into his afterlife or something.” Pausing, she shrugged a little, the corner of her mouth twitching. “He told me that I wasn’t staying, that it wasn’t my time.”
She snorted a chuckle, lifting her hands expressively before dropping them to the bed, continuing her massaging. “And where else would that motherfucker be, eh? The Dungeon. Damn, I love that place.” Shaking her head, she reached for her hand. “Dream or afterlife, he was right. Wasn’t your time, Skip.” Rubbing between her fingers gently, she sighed, a little somber. “I bet it was awesome to see him again.”
Jade nodded, thumbing a tear from her eye. “Yeah. Yeah, it was. I hadn’t thought about him much over the last few years, with everything going on. Not until Serena showed up. After Sunni mentioned it, though, what happened to Dime, he’s been on my mind. Maybe that’s why I dreamed about him.”
“Or maybe, he knew you were floating somewhere between here and the other side, and he did what Dime would have done. Came and sat with you so you weren’t alone and afraid.” Finishing her massaging, Jen pointed at her, beginning to grin. “Stranger things have happened. But all that matters is that you did come back. See that man over there? He was fucking broken while you were out.”
Looking at her husband, Jade felt her heart thump out warm waves, smiling as he slept on. “If anything does ever happen to me in the future, promise me one thing? That you’ll look after him.”
“Sure will.” A pause followed. “If this is you giving me your permission to ever hop on him if you did croak, though, I gotta pass, man. Not that he ain’t cute as hell, and you tell me all the time he’s got hella dick game, but it’d be like fucking a razorblade. You know I like ‘em a little fuller figured.”
“I heard that.” One eye opened across the other side of the bed, Adrien closing it again as he raised his middle finger.
It hurt Jade like hell to laugh, but god, it felt good to do so.

So the preview pic of Racules sitting in that cage in N'Kosopa got me thinking and I feel like the best way for them to handle the situation is for all of the kings to take turns being his jailor. Because I think most of them would take the whole "we'll use you as a tool" thing very seriously.
Obviously, based on the preview pic, Yanma's keeping Racules a cage (that he can't even stand up in but Racules did try to kill Yanma so... *shrugs*) and probably doing some menial grunt work. Like cleaning some piece of tech or having to take out a hundred tiny screws.
I feel like Himeno wouldn't keep Racules in a cage because that just doesn't fit her aesthetic, so he could probably get away with just the flowery handcuffs. Probably doing something that involves serving Himeno herself like holding her sword or fanning her with one of those giant, feather fans.
Kaguragi would probably be the hardest on Racules (besides Yanma) because of the whole Racules threatening his sister thing. Also probably keeps him handcuffed so he can force him to do like manual labor with the kuroko. I'm torn on whether Suzume would try to convince Kaguragi to go easier on Racules, or just lounge on the sidelines telling Racules he's doing a great job.
Rita would probably see it simply as their duty to put Racules to work, so they can just assign Racules to be Morfonia's "assistant". Basically just means Morfonia gets to boss him around, almost certainly make him shovel the front of the castle. It would be a win-win because Rita can fulfill their duty without having to babysit and Morfonia gets to sit around all day being the boss of someone else.
To be honest, I'm not sure Gira would feel comfortable using Racules for anything. Simply because he's going through that awkward phase of coming to the terms with the fact that his brother's actually not an evil tyrant and does genuinely love him. If he didn't just keep Racules in the dungeon then it's just the two of them in the throne room (with Racules still handcuffed of course) while Gira tries not to make eye contact and Racules just smiles at him all proud. And of course you have Douga in the background watching Racules like a hawk.
I'm honestly torn with Jeramie because on the one hand, Racules did get in the way of his plans for world peace, but I also think Jeramie would be very sensitive to the fact that Racules was trying to protect his family. And this is Gira's brother and he loves Gira so... Maybe Jeramie feels he's already gotten even with Racules so they can just chill. He fills Racules in on what's he's missed in the last two years and how great Gira's doing as king.
And of course none of this would be complete without being able to see Racules being passed off from one king to the next. Like divorced parents doing the custody swap in the McDonald's parking lot.
#kingohger spoilers#It's only fair if everyone gets a chance to get make Racules miserable#They've all been putting up with his bullshit#Even if it was for a good reason#But some of these people are going to be petty about this#ohsama sentai kingohger
