Fanfic writer questions!
How many works do you have on ao3?
8! But if we count my other account that I abandoned, 10.
What's your total ao3 word count?
So far, roughly 142k words.
What fandoms do you write for?
Mostly just COD fandom (exclusively Ghostsoap!)
Top five fics by kudos:
Leaving Your Heart On Fire - omegaverse smut amirite? (first attempt at smut fic too, which is, something!)
carry me in your teeth (with tender jaws of sympathy) - seal!soap x orca!ghost with hurt/comfort, biting and other shenanigans. honestly, i never thought people would like it that much since i hallucinated the plot & the first chapter within a day lmaoo.
Only Yours - another omegaverse smut! second one in the series, but whatever. wall sex galore tho <33
Sweetest Gift - lingerie & shibari & bdsm. need i say more
With The Softness Of Your Breath - what if hallmark movies were good, and ghoap? ALSO childhood friends and retired au + all the christmas goodness. this one is very deserved and i will literally kiss everyone who read this on the mouth for giving it a chance even tho i know first person pov isn't favoured in fandom spaces. i poured my heart into it, ty <3
Do you respond to comments?
I try my best to! Miss some sometimes because i'm too busy giggling and kicking my feet over the sheer amount of elation i feel whenever i get the notification.
What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?
Happy ending kind of guy, so none. Unless you count the letter. MCD 😔
What's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
CHRISTMAS FIC,, but all of them are going to be happy ending so we'll see!! my current longfics will take the rest of the year, or more, to end though, so who knows.
Do you get hate on fics?
No? But I did get a comment about how first person pov was something that a reader hated and they were looking forward to reading the fic with the tags & summary. Oh well, their loss.
Do you write smut?
ABSOLUTELY,,, i adore writing smut. right after fluff and angst, i have to say.
Craziest crossover:
None yet :(
Have you ever had a fic stolen?
No, not that I know of.
Have you ever had a fic translated?
Nope! I wouldn't mind it though.
Have you ever co-written a fic before?
No but Alex. i am looking at you with the softest, darkest brown eyes ever.
All time favourite ship?
GHOSTSOAP. but also capitaru and cami. if you know you know. i don't mind ghoap x reader too, but i swear they NEED to be fucking each other as well, no ghoap 'thinking' of each other as friends and nothing more. all of us are in love and fucking and that is final, or there is nothing.
What's a wip you want to finish but doubt you ever will?
Beyond Life and Death,,, im so sorry my first attempt at a longfic but i really overestimated everything before i started writing it. Still hold it in my heart, since it was how I taught myself to write fanfics in general but it's a mess, honestly.
What are your writing strengths?
I. have no idea. I've been told I'm good at setting scene (emotional, erotic, angsty) so maybe that? Words also fly out of my mind at the speed of light whenever I am deeply dissecting a character's inner monologue, feelings and thought process AND ALSO TRAUMA, so that too.
What are your writing weaknesses?
I would say action if it were me from the past,, but I've gotten better at it. So, for now, plot, but I'm working on it!
Thoughts on dialogue in another language?
HELL YEAH!!
First fandom you wrote in?
......JJK. You will not find that fic though.
Favourite fic you've written?
All of them are my babies don't make me choose 😭
I have no idea who has done this tag game and who hasn't. it was trending like months ago, so open tag for now! do feel free to yap about your fics and tag me if you, i'd love to know <3 (get some recs meself) ill tag a few but feel free to ignore me if youve already done it lmao @eiraeths @myriadblvck

🦋 🌸 🐠 🌷 🍄 for the writer ask game, please?
As ever, lovely friend, you are so kind. ;D Absolutely!!
my current WIP-----as you know, at any given time I usually have about 3-5 xD. However, I'm so glad YOU in particular asked this because it was you who gave me the Piett as a Jedi AU five facts. And um----guess what happened. I am currently plunging through chapter three of what is likely going to be a MUCH longer story than I anticipated, but I am not complaining, no sir. I've never written Piett this way and I am enjoying the development of this story in my brain. My poor boy has to go through a lot of suffering first, but the upshot is this---rejected by his family and sold, it is Plo Koon who saves him and raises him. He ends up stationed on Coruscant as the Clone Wars break out and it is here that he not only befriends Padme and Bail, but also a very overworked Commander Fox. While they are not able to completely keep Order 66 from happening, they manage to put a dent in it [because Fox gets a Jedi in this story ;D] and go on to fight this corrupt Empire with far more living Jedi and clones than we were left with in Revenge of the Sith.
WIP I've been working on the longest---again it is timely that you ask this. xD xD I am HOPING to finish Stiffen Up the Sinews today, which is the latest installment of the Empire Reimagined series. I've been at it for over a year which is fairly slow for me, but I totally blame the muse rugby team. You know how they are. xD
Author who inspires me----I'll give a two pronged answer here. First is the published author and while I could name so many, I am going with Dorothy Sayers. I ADORE her Lord Peter Wimsey series----she is a deft hand at both rich character development and in describing a scene. I owe a lot of my writing voice to her I think. Second, in fanfic land, there are once again a good number I could name, but I shall go with Osheen Nevoy. This is the author who wrote The Adventures Of Darth Vader and who really shaped my ideas about Piett. We have been communicating and it has been a true delight.
Writing achievement I want to brag about---- Well normally I'm happy not to do this. ;D But...I am really thrilled to say that I've started work with a friend on an original fic. I've been dabbling a bit in original work lately, but this is the first serious full blown work I've attempted in years. It has been immensely satisfying and I'm stoked to see where we take it.
Name a song that represents my main character----Ooh wow. This is actually a tough one. I can think of a number to represent Firmus. I'm Still Standing would be one. ;D Here Comes the General is another. But I think I really like The Fire by The Roots and John Legend. Great lyrics for our Admiral. ;D

20 questions for fic writers
Tagged by @shinyopals thank youuuu
1. How many works do you have on Ao3? 42!
2. What’s your total Ao3 word count? 340,042
3. What fandoms do you write for? Currently and primarily The Magnus Archives — I only rarely write for multiple fandoms at a time. In the past I've written for Jibaku Shounen Hanako-kun, Deltarune, Victoria's Electric Coffin......a friend and I used to write OC/Black Butler crossover fics in like, middle school lol
4. What are your top five fics by kudos?
Cicada Summar (JSHK, rated T, gen) — Pre-canon JSHK backstory fic
No Sort of Name for People Like Us (TMA, rated T, jmart) — mid s3 practice kissing fic
Our Own Personal Hell (TMA, rated T, jmart) — s2 time loop shenanigans
Tongue to Teeth (TMA, rated T, jmart) — victorian monster hunting au
Check Each Box That Applies (TMA, rated T, jmart) — s2 lunch dates and personal discussions
Cicada Summer was posted at the height of JSHK fandom popularity, so I don't think that one is super representative of my "best" fics, though I do think that No Sort of Name is pretty good haha
5. Do you respond to comments? I do my best to!
6. What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending? Prooobably Hazy Days of December...I got a lot of people yelling at me for that one haha (even if I don't think it's too bad? It's open ended at least)
7. What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending? Umm I'm not sure! I think most of my fics are happy endings...maybe Worth More Than All the Silence
8. Do you get hate on fics? I've gotten a few weird comments but I don't think I've ever gotten anything outright hateful
9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind? I've written a few fics but must of my smut stays in the Google docs. My asexual ass likes things more focused on the humorous lead up and/or kink than the actual sex part haha
10. Do you write crossovers? What’s the craziest one you’ve written? I think the closest thing I've written to a crossover is the doctor who au I wrote earlier this year — I don't really write proper crossovers :,)
11. Have you ever had a fic stolen? Not to my knowledge
12. Have you ever had a fic translated? Don't think so!
13. Have you ever co-written a fic before? Me and @indigosienna attempted to write a collab fic back in 2020, but we both ended up falling off of it before we finished (oops). The first chapter is still good though I think!
14. What’s your all time favorite ship? HARD question, but jmart and hananene both have very special places in my heart
15. What’s a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will? Too many fic ideas to list haha
16. What are your writing strengths? I think I'm pretty good at humor and getting into a character's head. Also love writing an emotionally charged scene
17. What are your writing weaknesses? Dialogue heavy scenes are the WORST (writing dialogue tags without sounding stupidly repetitive...shaking my fist at the sun). Also forever complaining about editing
18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic? I don't know any other languages well enough to do so
19. First fandom you wrote for? I have vague memories of writing warrior cats fanfiction waaaaay back in the day
20. Favorite fic you’ve written? This is a haaaaard question but currently I'd have to say 1. Learning the Ropes — I originally started this for the RQ big bang in June and didn't make it to the deadline, so it felt like a big accomplishment to actually finish it. Plus I just really like delving into that era of canon and Jon and Martin's whole not-quite-dating shtick they have going on. And 2. Tongue to Teeth — I really love this fic and this au and I was noooot at all expecting the love for it I ended up getting on it. I love this silly au and I'm glad others do as well :,)
Not sure who has been tagged so! Sorry for any repeats! @rakel-on-ao3 @asleeb @thatsrightdollface @crit20lesbian @phynoma @lo-fi-charming @pinehutch @cnnmonbimee

Multiples of 6 for the writing thing!
Howdy <3
(Weird writing questions!)
6. What is your darkest fear about writing?
There are two: one, I don't want to put too much of real life into my writing and lose friends over it again (...long story); two, that I'll be unable to finish a WIP that I've already started posting.
12. If a genie offered you three writing wishes, what would they be? Btw if you wish for more wishes the genie turns all your current WIPs into Lorem Ipsum, I don’t make the rules.
Improved ability to develop the middle sections of longer plots
More energy to write after work
Magic formula for tweaking my fics enough that more irl people (like my family) can read what I write without noticing it's all Newsies fanfiction
18. Choose a passage from your writing. Tell me about the backstory of this moment. How you came up with it, how it changed from start to end.
I already answered this one, but it's okay because I'm insufferable and can do another passage! Since I've converted you to the CrutchieAlbert camp ( >:) ), I'll do the Albert-trying-to-flirt passage from chapter 7 of How It Will Be.
Again, this is a longer passage, so it goes from "How'd you get into climbing?" Albert asked suddenly to He winked.
I knew Albert and Charlie needed to kiss/admit their feelings this chapter (and had planned for that to be the case), partially because they were reaching a tipping point in terms of being able to hide it and partially so the story would make sense. The problem was, I needed one of them to make a somewhat ambiguous move (they're both very nervous) that would push the other to wonder if they were being flirted with and then make a more unambiguous move as a result. I remembered that in an earlier chapter, Charlie had suggested to Albert that a good beginner flirting method was to just ask the other person about their interests, so I decided Albert would try to actually put that into practice.
If I remember correctly, I had the idea for Charlie and Jack to have their very euphemistic conversation before I had the idea for this scene, so to provide a bridge from Albert's flirting attempt to that conversation, I had Charlie notice what was going on and also timed the conversation so Albert would be pulled for a date right after it (since the date had been set to happen for quite a while), which gave Charlie an opportunity to talk to Jack without Albert around but also stressed him out enough that he was willing to have that conversation in the first place - the show and what it could lead to was starting to feel a little too real at that point. So yeah! Their confession of feelings was more complicated to write in some ways, since neither Charlie nor Albert knew for sure that the other was queer before they kissed, but that made writing their interactions really interesting.
24. How much prep work do you put into your stories? What does that look like for you? Do you enjoy this part or do you just want to get on with it?
If it's a longer story/more complicated AU I'll usually have to figure out all the characters' roles, AU-specific traits, etc. as well as the overarching plot, and then I need to get at least some idea of what happens in each chapter/when key plot points take place. That can be fun, but it's frustrating when I'm trying to write and realize I need to plot out the chapter in detail before I can keep going. Writing longer stories was a weakness of mine for a very long time (and still is), so I have to do more detailed plotting than some of the other writers I know.
30. Talk to me about the role dreams play in your writing life. Have you ever used material from your dreams in your writing? Have you ever written in a dream? Did you remember it when you woke up?
I don't think they really play a role! I don't remember most of my dreams, though I do remember last night's dream (my coworkers showed up to move my stuff to my new apartment and I was Not ready at all).
36. They say to Write What You Know. Setting aside for a moment the fact that this is terrible advice…what do you Know?
So much random stuff: Juggling, the ins and outs of college organizations and their leadership/admin interactions, rock climbing, various other outdoorsy sports, the ins and outs of moving companies, an unfortunate amount about customer service for online retailers...the list goes on and on because I apparently need to learn something about everything.
I've written fics that feature most of these topics, oops

20 questions game
Thanks @fazedlight for the tag:)
1. How many works do you have on AO3?
11, but I think most of them are art.
2. What’s your total AO3 words count?
82,665. But there's a good chance I'll pass the 100k mark a bit after supercorptober!
3. What fandoms do you write for?
Supercorp.
4. What are your top 5 fics by kudos?
Privileges
Of science and Love
The Power of Pasta
Ghostly Presence
The Art of The Game
(Skipped one artwork due to the fic being tied to someone else)
5. Do you respond to comments? Why or why not?
Yes! I try to respond to every comment.
6. What’s the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?
Alone
7. What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
Beside Alone, they all have happy endings!
8. Do you get hate on fics?
I had a few comments with a commenter who was very keen to let me know just how much they hate Kara for some reason. But they haven't responded to recent chapters.
9. Do you write smut? If so what kind?
I have yet to attempt smut.
10. Do you write crossovers? What’s the craziest one you’ve written?
I have not written any. I am a fan of AUs, though.
11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?
Not that I know. I know that my art has been running around some Facebook groups, though.
12. Have you ever had a fic translated?
Not that I know.
13. Have you ever cowritten a fic before?
Yes! I have 2 WIPs that I'm cowriting, and I'm super excited about them! There's one project I hope me and my friend will be able to finish before the end of the year (though with current progress I'm not sure anymore), and another one that's gonna be a really really big AU that I'm really looking forward to (although I'll be grateful if we manage to finish it by the end of next year).
14. What’s your all-time favourite ship?
Supercorp has a really strong hold on me. This is the ship that made me start being active on tumblr, draw fanart, and let me discover my love for writing for the first time in my life. Saying that, Percy/Vex from critical role had my heart for quite a while, I think that at some point I read almost all of their AO3.
15. What’s a WIP you want to finish, but doubt you ever will?
I intend to finish all my WIPs. That's why after I finish The Art Of The Game, I plan to start uploading only once most of the fic is done.
16. What are your writing strengths?
I think I'm pretty good at structuring the story. I have pages upon pages of story flow and arcs for most of my big project. I think just for TAOTG I have 7 different files (probably more).
17. What are your writing weaknesses?
Oh, so much. For now, I'll say that I have no idea how to use comma correctly and just use it randomly😂
18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language for a fic?
I haven't tried, but it I'll probably ask a native speaker. (Or someone who's really into kryptonian)
19. First fandom you wrote for?
Supercorp!
20. Favourite fic you’ve ever written?
My proudest work is probably The Art Of The Game. It's my biggest project yet, I've spent a LOT of time prepping the story structure, and it's also my first fic, and the reason I started writing in the first place. You can probably see my writing journey just by reading it (even if I did edit the first few chapters after the fact).
No pressure tags! @snowydragonscave @inkedroplets @spaceman-earthgirl @missluthorwillseeyounow

20 questions for fic writers
Tagged by @yerbamansa, thanks!
1. How many works do you have on AO3?
169 😅 150 of which are for The Adventure Zone (I wrote a LOT of small fic for TAZ, and just a lot of TAZ fic in general)
2. What’s your total AO3 word count?
604,338, which remains absolutely wild to me. I hit the half-million mark this year.
3. What fandoms do you write for?
Currently Our Flag Means Death, but previously The Adventure Zone, and I have one Star Trek (TOS movies) fic.
4. What are your top 5 fics by kudos?
Sea of Love (Our Flag Means Death (TV)) (6,697 words)
Phoenix Fire (The Adventure Zone (Podcast)) (2,031 words)
Commit to the Bit (Our Flag Means Death (TV)) (2,471 words)
Dinner & Conversation (The Adventure Zone (Podcast)) (826 words)
I have begun to long for you (Our Flag Means Death (TV)) (4,185 words)
Yeah, ok, some fun reunion porn for the big fandom and a collab with two pretty popular writers for the small fandom make sense for that top two in particular.
5. Do you respond to comments? Why or why not?
I try to, especially since I don't get that many, and I love getting comments so much that I just want to share my appreciation. Sometimes the spoons are low, sometimes I don't know what to say except "thanks!" and if someone just commented on several chapters I might not do that for all of them.
6. What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?
Well, Phoenix Fire is the Worst Ending, aka the destruction of the entire universe, plus unbearably sad between the main characters, so yeah.
7. What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
I do have quite a bit of fluffy fic (Commit to the Bit comes to mind, there's also a Fantasy Costco Kravitz/Taako that's very sweet), but I immediately thought of for the benefit of all the broken hearts, just because it takes an incredibly bittersweet ending of the fic it's fixing and says FUCK THAT, how can everyone get a happy ending instead?
8. Do you get hate on fics?
I've never gotten any, even managed to avoid the twitter wank that WFU got when I wrote fics of it! (long ago, I did get some vagueblogging about some stuff in my TAZ fic, but nothing ever addressed directly at me)
9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind?
That is where I started and why I started (my first smutty fic is pretty bad imho but it was popular, relatively speaking, because for a bit there it was the only unlocked smut for that pairing); my original rarepair was M/F bi4bi in a complicated polycule, and so there's some them+others works in there. (readers of for the benefit of all the broken hearts are nodding along like "ok this tracks") beyond that, I'm just going to say go look at my work.
10. Do you write crossovers? What’s the craziest one you’ve written?
Is for the benefit of all the broken hearts (and the rest of that series) a crossover??????? Like I'm legitimately staring into space thinking about the boundary line between modern AU and RPF and........ HUH.
11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?
DO PEOPLE DO THAT
12. Have you ever had a fic translated?
Nope!
13. Have you ever co-written a fic before?
183 thousand words in a series: the only life you could save, with my beloved Ryn, when we were "just friends" - started as our attempt to co-write a reconciliation between Taako and Lucretia, and spun out into an entire timeline with themes spanning before the Stolen Century all the way into post-canon. Some pieces we wrote separately, much of it we wrote together. Even the last piece, which I published after Ryn died, includes a section that they wrote, about Taako trying to cope with Lucretia's death.
14. What’s your all time favorite ship?
Probably Mulder/Scully lol, tho I don't know if I've ever read any fic of them????
15. What’s a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?
One of my very first TAZ fics was a Hurley/Sloane backstory fic that was going to be basically a beat-for-beat retelling of The Fast and the Furious (oh, I guess that's also sort of a crossover?), but I only ever wrote the first chapter. I would love to write it at some point, because I think it would be fun as hell.
I'd also love to finish my TAZ Amnesty fic, sweetness follows, which is friends-to-lovers post-canon Minerva/Duck.
16. What are your writing strengths?
Character voice, I think. Possibly a stupid depth of canon knowledge for whatever the canon is, and I think I have a knack for figuring out how to reincorporate those details. Honestly, it's hard for me to say "oh these are my strengths and weaknesses", or at least today I'm having trouble pinning that down.
17. What are your writing weaknesses?
Punctuation Pokemon, or rather, my sentences do get very tangly. I find endings really tricky, I've done a lot of work thinking through how to stick the landing. (This is one of the ways in which Ryn continues to live in my head, because they could always spot when I hadn't quite made it.)
18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic?
Alas my Spanish (high school and college) is too rusty to even try, and I don't know any other languages.
19. First fandom you wrote for?
The Adventure Zone, although I wrote quite a bit of Agatha Christie pastiche in junior high, and a lot of Anne Rice influenced original fiction in high school and college.
20. Favorite fic you’ve written?
I love a lot of my fic, it's fun to go back and look and say "oh that!", and The Reckoning Arrives is up there, of course, because I loved writing it, and it saved my life. ("she's survived the impossible before" got me out of my marriage and 2 years later got me through the hospital. "you're here, so be here" got me through what came after that.)
But it does have to be for the benefit of all the broken hearts - she lives in my head, still, and I feel incredibly proud of all the work I put into it, the technical work, the emotional work.
---
Not tagging anybody, but PLEASE! if you feel like talking about your writing, do it!

Fic authors self rec! When you get this, reply with your favorite five fics that you've written, then pass on to at least five other writers. Let’s spread the self-love ❤
That's so hard, I've so many! But I think I've figured it out, my top 5.
Assassin Skills Required
By far my favorite fic I've written, even now. It was based off a dream and includes characters from Krystar while focusing on the AC characters. I didn't know where I was going with it until I was halfway done, so it was written and posted live, consistently. It went from Saturdays only to Saturdays and Wednesdays and somehow I kept up the whole time thru 3 works of it. As a debut for fanfiction, it's simply the best, and I haven't been able to recreate my experience with it since. Writing live was just so... I can't believe I did it. Not once did I miss an update and it wasn't even prewritten. In fact, I outpaced my posting schedule, even after starting to post a second day each week. I'd never been so inspired than when writing ASR. Picking the top 5 is hard, but picking number 1 is easy. Link to ASR teaser.
Kristmas Karma
This one wasn't quite written live, but it wasn't written that far ahead either, and it includes a ridiculous amount of art all drawn the week before it was posted. I can't believe it was more or less posted on time. It was also partially an experiment. While ASR included all the AC characters, I still didn't know them that well individually outside of Karmagisa. Kristmas Karma changed that. I was able to write and understand nearly every single student's POV convincingly, and still reference the fic to this day when trying to feel them out. It still makes me cry and Christmas Day, despite being the single most longest chapter I've ever written, so long it was split into 2 chapters (23k words btw), still flies right by every time I reread it. Link to KK prelude.
Magic Shuu
Speaking of getting to learn about the other characters in AC, this one focuses on Shuu and the five virtuosos. What I love most about this one is how fluidly I've crossed these boys into the Sailor Moon universe. I love how I turn this very minor character and his even more invisible friends into the main stars and make them relatable. In fact, my friend who has a similarly overbearing father relates to Shuu deeply. This story just has so much heart in it. Currently unfinished, but I'll finish it someday, even if it takes me years. Link to first chapter.
Ubisoft
A Karushuu one-shot. It's playful and fun and both of them are such loveable dorks in this. XD I've reread it so many times I've lost count. My favorite part for Karma is when he stumbles out the door in the morning, tripping and nearly breaking his phone on the way. My favorite part for Shuu is how awkward his attempt to be a better kisser is. I love them so much in this. Link to Ubisoft.
Cuddles and Kisses
A Karmagisa one-shot that I'd planned to write for the longest time. It was based on an idea that someone else had, but it's surprisingly sweet and wholesome despite it being about Karma summoning an incubus. XD My favorite part for Nagisa is when he attempts to "seduce" Karma. My favorite part for Karma is when he rushes home because he's worried about Nagisa disappearing, frantically searching the house until he calls out Nagisa's name, and then hugging him in relief when he appears before him. It's just so sweet for a one-shot, and I'm strongly considering writing more for this AU. Link to Cuddles and Kisses.
Honorable mention:
Gerit
An original story set in the Krystar universe but separate from the main story. It's actually my favorite of anything on AO3, but it's technically not a fanfiction. It centers around a neurodivergent named Gerit who was abused in many ways as a child while training to be an assassin. I wrote this in the midst of writing ASR as Gerit was in the story and I hadn't fleshed him out as a Krystar character yet. It's finished, but not all posted on AO3 as I've decided the tiny Krystar spoilers at the end aren't something I should spoil until at least after book 1 or 2 of the Fragment series is out. Still, feel free to check it out. Not for the faint of heart, rated MA. Link to Gerit.
Thank you Anon, for sending me this ask. I hope my favorite reads can get some views from this. 💙

Hello. I'm J. You may know me as @icos-3 here on tumblr or as ijacques on AO3. Or (more likely) you don't know me at all, in which case, hi.
This is my reading blog where i reblog fandom stuff I find interesting. I'm not very creative with my reblogs, and often just want to boost something I like so that more people can hopefully see it. Please don't think my needless screaming is because it's bad. It actually means the opposite
My current fandom obsessions, ranked by obsessiveness, are:
Avatar: The Last Airbender (Zukka)
Rise of the Guardians (FrostBunny)
Danny Phantom (Gen)
The Owl House (Gen, Huntlow, Lumity)
Luca (Luberto)
Super Mario Bros (Gen, Bowuigi)
Here are some fanfic/media recommendations:
Fanfics
All fanfics listed here are complete and can be read as standalone works.
Most of them I really enjoyed reading, have a ratio of above 1k words per chapter, and took me a few days to complete (Or, in the case of Mortified, almost two weeks)!
Format: Fanfic (link) - fandom (tags/descriptors) - short review
Stars ⭐ mean that these are my favourites and are likely in my vault of favourites
⭐gave me no compasses, gave me no signs - Avatar: The Last Airbender (Sokka x Zuko, POV: Sokka, Alternate Universe - College/University, Angst, Hurt/Comfort, Fluff, Eating Disorders, Abuse, Heavy Subjects, Mental Health Issues and Healing, Recreational Drug Use, Explicit Sexual Content) - Great to read, Zuko deserves so much better in this, I'm so glad it ended the way it did, he deserves to be happy!
⭐it's the illusion of separation - Avatar: The Last Airbender (Sokka x Zuko, Slow Burn, Hurt/Comfort, Alternate Universe - Modern Setting, Tea Shop Au, Angst, Baker!Zuko, Artist!Sokka, Forgiveness, Ozai typical violence, Toph & Zuko, Rated: Mature) - Great to read, these two idiots are the best, the world is so well made, and the humor is AMAZING!
⭐In the Soft Light - Avatar: The Last Airbender (Sokka x Zuko, POV: Zuko, Slow Burn, Hurt/Comfort, Canon Divergent, War Ends Early, Cultural Ambassador Zuko, Miscommunication, Spirit Touched Sokka, Northern Water Tribe, Pining, Zuko is an Awkward Turtleduck) - Great to read, Zuko gets embarrassed often, ending feels a bit rushed, but the conflict is good and the character growth is great
⭐Will We Last the Night - Avatar: The Last Airbender (Sokka x Zuko, POV: Sokka, Slow Burn, Enemies to Lovers, Saved from Drowning, Traveling as a Hostage, Traveling the Earth Kingdom with my socially inept boyfriend, Sharing a Bed, Mutual Pining, Canon Divergent, Season 2 rewrite) - Great to read, good mix of mistrust, and the relationship feels like it develops naturally
⭐Blue - Avatar: The Last Airbender (Sokka x Zuko, POV: Zuko, Secret Identity, Impersonating the Dead, Canon Divergent, Jet x Zuko as a plot device, Violence, Angst, Hurt/Comfort, Zuko is a stupid turtleduck, There Are No Heteros In Ba Sing Se) - Great to read, very angsty, minor spelling mistakes, good character development
when you can't look on the bright side, i'll sit with you in the dark - Avatar: The Last Airbender (Sokka x Zuko, POV: Sokka, Alice in Wonderland AU, Politics, Post Canon, Oblivious Sokka, Friends to Lovers, Pining, Assassination attempt, Explicit Scenes, POV shifting, Ozai as the Red King) - good to read, wonderland is a dream, the Wonderland part more or less follows the plot of Tim Burton's 2010 Alice in Wonderland
⭐Sei Meglio di Venti Vespa - Luca (Alberto x Luco, POV: Alberto, Pining, Neurodivergent Alberto, Friends to Lovers, So much pining, Wholesome, Alberto overreacts a bunch) - Good to read, Alberto goes on a whole journey of self acceptance, lots of Italian
⭐I Just Wanna Be Somebody To Someone - Rise of the Guardians (Jack x Aster, Smut, Fluff, Fluff and Smut, Enemies to Friends to Lovers, bonding over loss) - great to read, one of my new favourites! Rated E for Extremely wholesome. And Explicit. This is the first smut fic I've read, okay?
Winter's Frost - Rise of the Guardians (Jack x Aster, mature subjects, Major Character Death, nonconsensual, mind control, true love's kiss, consensual, Fluff and Angst, mostly canon compliant, world building, book elements) - good read, the romance is good, but the end is a painful experience. If you want a happy end, don't read past chapter 17
Senses and a distinct lack of Sensibility - Rise of the Guardians (E. Aster Bunnymund centric, Jack x Aster, Mutual Pining, Aster is a dork, Slow Burn, Fluff and Angst, idiots in love) - great read, would describe as "the perfect fic doesn't exis- wait"
The Boy in the Tower - Rise of the Guardians (Jack Frost & E. Aster Bunnymund centric, Jack x Aster, Rapunzel AU, Jack is rapunzel in this case, Slow Burn, Romance, Child Abuse, Kidnapping, Happy Ending) - really good read, the romance isn't overbearing and feels natural and wholesome, but I wish there were more romantic scenes
The Last Grimwalker - The Owl House (Hunter centric, Grimwalker lore building, ex coven leaders as a plot device, mind control, post season 3, Hunter learns to let others help, Side crew centric, drug usage, potions as drugs, Hunter needs a hug, Cannon Compliant, as far as I could tell at least, except for one part, but that's spoiler territory) - good read, feels like watching an episode of the show at times, but the word "alas" is used a bit too frequently for my tastes
Face to Face - Danny Phantom (Double Danny, shattered soul, self acceptance, Identity Reveal, Angst, Hurt/Comfort, Fluff, feels like watching an episode or 20, Ghost catcher as a plot device, world building) - good read, very wholesome
Intricacies of Us - The Owl House (Hunter & Darius, Darius is his father figure, adoption, trauma, Hurt/Comfort, Fluff, Angst) - good read
Echoes - Danny Phantom (Eldritch Danny, No One Knows, Hurt/Comfort, Angst, Hazmat Suit) - good read
⭐A Snapping Sound - Danny Phantom (Mega Angst, Mystery, Horror, Murder Mystery, Major Character Death (and I mean MAJOR), old movie vibes, ghosts in a more traditional sense, great world building, unhappy-happy ending) - great to read, but man have I not yet recovered from this ending
Shift - Danny Phantom (Everyone Knows, first time meeting, Hurt/Comfort, some Angst, lots of swearing, some body horror, Guys in White as a plot device, Sam and her parents don't get along at all, satisfying cliffhanger ending) - a decent read, good ideas and plot
⭐Cooking Mama (Luigi) - Super Mario Bros (Kidnapping as a plot device, Luigi is a parental figure, lots of cooking, Fluff, Found Family, Slow Burn, Bowuigi, Bowser/Luigi, cozy vibes, lots of cooking) - great read, very wholesome, though the movie kinda makes Bowser feel a bit weird for me
Infiltration of the Heart - Super Mario Bros (Kidnapping as a plot device, protective older brother Mario, peach is a little unlikeable imo, lots of fantasy politics, Angst, Hurt/Comfort, Autistic Luigi, Ace Luigi, Bowser/Luigi, Luigi is a parental figure, Drama, Alcohol, Luigi gets character development, world building) - good read, romance feels a little forced, but it works imo
Mortified verse - Danny Phantom (Danny is a broken boy, Danny & Clockwork, Clockwork is a parental figure, MASSIVE world building, mega cannon divergence, Angst, Hurt/Comfort, Ghost King Danny, space as a setting, Court Drama, Legal Setting, The Fentons get sued by ghosts, child abuse, Greek Myth, Body Horror, clones get more character) - really good read
⭐Something's Wrong With Danny Fenton - Danny Phantom (No One Knows, body horror, bullying, Penelope Spectra as a plot device, Angst, Hurt/Comfort, self hatred, Identity Reveal) - great read
Media
The media listed here does not comply with a standard of any kind. Some may be longer/shorter than others and may be complete or incomplete at the time of writing.
Duncan & Eddie by doginacafe (comic, webtoon, anthro animals, LGBT-centric, incomplete) - good read, great for when you need a wholesome distraction during a stressful time
Countdown to Countdown by velinxi (comic, webtoon, superpowers, powers are categorised by flowers, Gay vibes, incomplete) - good read, very angsty, naive protagonist trusts easily and gets hurt a lot

20 questions for writers
I was tagged by @comfort-questing! Thank you, this was fun.
1. How many works do you have on AO3?
Currently 55
2. What's your total AO3 word count?
576,498! That's over six years of posting
3. What fandoms do you write for?
I've written for many! Currently I have active WIPs for Genshin Impact, Tamora Pierce, Persona 5, and Demon Slayer. (I also have a couple unposted for Mistborn)
4. What are your top 5 fics by kudos?
By Only a Flicker (FMA)
Into Darkness and Howling (Genshin)
Maelstrom (Demon Slayer)
Pray to Blades of Grass (Genshin)
Fingernails the Colour of Rust (Genshin)
5. Do you respond to comments? Why or why not?
I try to! Sometimes I miss some but in general I try to. It encourages involvement, which I love. Fandom as a community is really important to me.
6. What's the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?
Hmmm okay so. I'm going to list a few because I can't decide because they're all very specific.
Fragile Things isn't really an angsty ending, per se, but it isn't happy. You know that long term it isn't going to get any better. Xiao is still chronically ill; Collei is still terminally ill. They have each other but that doesn't change the circumstances.
A Dream of a Memory (Genshin Impact) is Hurt No Comfort because it's a prequel so idk if that counts
Still Too Similar (Tamora Pierce) is a modern take on a canon death, which I'm also not sure counts because it's based off canon.
7. What's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
It's probably between The Sea That's Painted Black and Pray to Blades of Grass
8. Do you get hate on fics?
Nope! I don't think I ever have but I wouldn't really be bothered if I did. I'd just delete the comment.
9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind?
Once! It was kinda angsty, kinda sweet. I write smut like a wealthy Edwardian woman who would die if somebody so much as said an annotomically correct word.
10. Do you write crossovers? What's the craziest one you've written?
No I haven't but I've seen some great ones.
11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?
Sort of? There is a person who was inspired by my work and wrote theirs without credit (which is whatever, it's all fic) but they paraphrase plagarized my first chapter, which was devistated. It made me stop writing for a couple weeks because it just killed my desire.
12. Have you ever had a fic translated?
Yeah! Several into Russian, and then a couple other languages.
13. Have you ever co-written a fic before?
None currently posted but I did with @currentlylurking when we were younger! And I've helped my friends as a sounding board for fics for years. I just don't have time to co-write, sadly.
14. What's your all-time favourite ship?
I don't really have an all time favourite. Currently I write a lot of cynonari/tighcyno from Genshin Impact, which I love, but I think my oldest ships are Alex/Thom and Numair/Thom from Tamora Pierce? So that might count more.
15. What's a WIP you want to finish, but doubt you ever will?
*Sigh* at this point? Probably Into Darkness and Howling. I love the fic and the concept, but the general discourse around the character ruined any writing of him for me. Everybody gets so mad about characterization and localization that even if the fic never got any complaints I'm just not comfortable attempting. Also the popularity of it really scary even if the character wasn't contentious. There's too many expectations of it now.
16. What are your writing strengths?
My ideas are amazing. I come up with great canon divergent AUs.
17. What are your writing weaknesses?
Sometimes it feels like everything lol. Spelling is definitely my worst, you just can't tell since I use a beta reader and spellcheck. Characterization and making my characters unique in thoughts and dialogue can also be a struggle.
18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language for a fic?
I haven't done it but I like it when it's done well! I think you have to intersperse it with the original languague of the fic and make sure it contextually makes sense without needing a translation.
19. First fandom you wrote for?
Technically Tamora Pierce in an old notebook but officially my first works were Soul Eater. (They were really really bad)
20. Favourite fic you've ever written?
I like a lot of them but Fragile Things is held close to my heart.
I'm tagging @faelynny @currentlylurking @marcellebelle @lavenders-writing @clementinecoastline no pressure to do it though!

I don't have anything for vash's and knives' birthday but I DO have an update on my current vashwood wip: I am Hoping to post the first chapter next week? bastard turned into a 5.8k monstrosity, it just needs some betaing so I'm waiting for that to be done and then it'll go up! until then I'm gonna work on chapter 2 some more :3
also I feel comfy enough now to tell you what it's about, though the drawing of vash I made for it the other day was kind of a clue already: it's a canon divergence, beauty and the beast-flavored au fic 👀
here's my attempt at a summary:
Months after the July disaster, Wolfwood is asked by a small town to kill the monster that lives in the vestiges of an old ship. Although he refuses, a little girl's plea not to hurt her friend sends him on a new course—not knowing the beast he'll find in the wreckage might be more than he bargained for.

Note
I'm not gonna lie, I started reading GEO for the porn. But then in chapter two I realized something.
You gave ALL the Homestuck/Hiveswap characters Good Endings.
Canonically, the Trolls introduced in Hiveswap almost certainly were all killed in the Vast Glub. ( Unless Hiveswap Act 3 says different, but I'm not very optimistic). With the information currently available They. Are. All. Dead. Along with 1/2 of the Troll Game Players (Sollux doesn't count here)
You easily could have just gone with the tried and true option of just not explaining how Trolls are on Earth in your fic. Easily could have made it a No Sgrub/Sburb AU and called it a day. Maybe even gone with the "All Game Players Are Revived On Earth C" AU. But no.
You specifically gave a backstory as to how The Beforus, Hiveswap, and Normal Troll kids are on Earth at the same time; MSPAR did it after becoming a Guardian to let everyone have a happy ending. And even if you never directly showed them, you created a world where: Nepeta and Equius are safe, Feferi can grow up and make the world a better place, Kuprum doesn't have to become a living machine, Mallek can control his own life and Zebruh still doesn't get any pussy. MSPAR can even visit their friends.
They are all ok. And that makes GEO even better to me. So thanks
Thank you for noticing!!!
Tumblr media
Like... seriously, the reason I wrote GEO was to write some porn of Cronus with a reader insert while I worked on my long form dualscar fic... and then I was like "but wait... how would they meet? Why would that happen? How is that achievable?" etc. And thus Good Endings Only was born. And it just became a sprawling mess
Chapter 2 was supposed to have Lanque and Roxy bonding, some Mallek/MSPAR, People discussing Chahut's ascension to the Grand Highblood position and Kurloz being immensely salty about it but then it became 30k words and I just... couldn't fit all of it in
Good Endings Only takes place on Earth Ω aka The Last Attempt. MSPAR and their posse worked so hard to ensure everyone got a happy ending, or in Cronus' case... the potential for a happy ending :3
But yeah, thank you for the kind words I'm tearing up a lil thinking about it

20 questions for fic writers
Tagged by @shinyopals nearly half a year ago and promptly forgot about it oh my GOD, what is the passage of time, anyway I'm procrastinating on work and remembered it again so here we are
1. how many works do you have on Ao3?
ten
2. what’s your total Ao3 word count?
248,255
3. what fandoms do you write for?
Currently? Pathologic and probably soon Tian Guan Ci Fu/Heaven Official's Blessing. Mmmmmaybe Wushuang/Peerless, depending on how one plot bunny resolves itself in my brain. Previously? The Magnus Archives (which, who knows, I still have wips in the folder I might circle back 'round to one day), and in the olden days there was Code Geass and The Fandom That Must Not Be Named
4. what are your top five fics by kudos?
this, alone (TMA, gen, M for graphic depictions of Martin finding his alt universe self wormed by Prentiss and burying him in the Lonely)
runaway scars (TMA, gen, M) These two belong to a series that I have...tbh not finished, but I think can still stand together even without the conclusion. It's about Martin dimension-hopping from the apocalypse into another world to warn the Archives gang, only to discover his Jon had locked him here and so takes the role of the recently-wormed Martin of this dimension while he figures things out. Featuring: a very Beholding Sasha James, and fun times with our good friend Gerry Keay.
another turn of the page (TMA, gen, T) - this one baffles me, considering I wrote it in an evening and threw it up on ao3 with minimal edits. It's built on an existing tma statement though so I guess there's that? AU wherein Jon is a mysterious recurring figure in statements.
genius loci (pathologic, burakhovsky, M) - Patho daemon au, my beloved!
salvage (pathologic, background burakhovsky, M) - Wherein Daniil Dankovsky is aware of the game's time mechanics and savescumming to try and get a good ending. May or may not be inspired by my own perfectionistic tendencies when playing this game.
5. do you respond to comments?
I try to! Some I miss, and if someone comments on every chapter in a binge (which I love! please keep doing this!) I might not respond to every single one, but I try my best to respond to them all, and be sure I read them all either way.
6. What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?
So uh...hi, I'm jas and I'm an angst gremlin. It's...kind of my thing.
If I had to choose, I'd say there is no escape, my TMA with the trappings of Hades AU wherein Jon takes on powers from the various fears to try and escape the Archives, if only because...well, the title says it. But youth dipped in folly, my GerryOliver AU, might be a close contender. The number of pained, wailing comments I've seen on it delights me.
7. What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
uhhhhhhhhhhhhhh maybe this, alone? If only because it ends on a hopeful "we're together and no one died this time! and maybe we'll beat the bad guy!" note.
8. Do you get hate on fics?
Thankfully, no.
9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind?
Nothing that I've shared publicly, no. Writing good smut is a skill I do not yet possess. Also I forget sex is a thing half the time so it genuinely often doesn't occur to me.
10. Do you write crossovers? What’s the craziest one you’ve written?
OH BOY DO I.
I like to write crossovers where the characters from one media are in the world/plot/trappings of another, as opposed to the characters from two properties meeting, and pretty much whatever I read/play while in a hyperfixation will probably result in a crossover, at least in my brain.
Published, I only have a TMA Hades fic and TMA Jonathan Strange and Mr. Norrell fic, and of the two, the former is definitely weirder. In my drafts, I also have:
TMA Doctor Who AU (Gertrude regenerates into Jon while Tim and Martin are attempting to help the Archivist escape Elias' clutches)
Pathologic Dishonored AU (Artemy is gifted strange powers by the Outsider, who just looks like a capital dandy in a snakeskin coat, weird for a supposedly evil figure)
Pathologic Disco Elysium AU (ngl unlikely to finish this, because this is more a fun exercise than something that has a plot, for me, but the snakeskin coat instead of the ugly necktie is very fun)
Pathologic Fear & Hunger Termina AU (Artemy, Daniil, and the Utopians and Apple Basket Gang and Yulia arriving on the same train and forced into a battle royale. Fascinating and brutal. NEED to finish it one of these days)
Pathologic Thaumaturge AU (because I'm currently playing Thaumaturge and, look, they gave me a magical system that has implications on who a character is and fucks up everyone around them if misused and and expected me to not drag it into other fandoms? because good god Daniil needs the Audacity Flaw SO bad, SO BAD)
TGCF sort of Scum Villain AU (and I say sort of because it's more a transmigration au, but it takes many trappings and flavouings from SVSSS. There is also, technically, three of this, because I couldn't decide who should be the transmigrator between Xie Lian and Hua Cheng and promptly ended up with an AU where it's Xie Lian, an AU where it's Hua Cheng, and an AU where it's both of them. Save me from myself)
Wushuang/Peerless TGCF AU (because if anyone deserves to be a Ghost King it's Cui "Fuck you I'm not going" Buqu, and Feng Xiao NEEDS to be a martial god of the sort that beats up his followers if his statues aren't pretty enough)
Oh, and I guess daemon aus count as crossovers? Technically? Since they belong to the His Dark Materials universe. I tend to think of them as a separate fanfic trope at this point though, esp when I often disregard HDM worldbuilding entirely, but just in case: there's my Patho daemon AU and also a TGCF daemon AU in the works.
11. has any of your work been stolen?
Not fic, not to my knowledge.
12. Have you ever had a fic translated?
If it has, do tell me! But nope, not that I know of.
13. Have you ever co-written a fic before?
Not a completed one yet. There have been a few attempts with friends that fell through for various reasons of time, energy, spoons, losing interest in the fandom, etc, but it's always been a blast and I'd really love to do it again! I love co-writing and co-creating. I've spent many many years in forum roleplaying spaces and collaborative creation is a thing I actively miss. Writing's pretty solitary otherwise. Plus, it's fun to see your smart talented friends flex their smarts and talents and see how their brains work!
14. What’s your all time favorite ship?
I have to mirror shinyopals here and say, whatever my OTP is at the time. Burakhovsky from Pathologic certainly have me by the throat for the many myriad ways their relationship can go, from bitter rivals a la Changeling route to 'you're the only one who understands the depth of this trauma' as I tend to write. I also just love a narrative foil, god.
But there's also Hualian from TGCF! 800 years of devotion, holy shit! The sheer intensity of them!
And also the hilarity of FengCui from Wushuang/Peerless as a bitch4bitch, will never admit feelings on the pain of death pairing is hard to beat.
15. What’s a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?
-stares into the abyss that is my wip folder- How long you got?
I am, due to work writing and also just brain nonsense, an unfortunately very slow writer, made even more unfortunate by the fact I tend towards big ideas and adore turning points in a narrative and what ifs. Realistically this means that unless it's one of the first fics I do in a fandom, and unless a fic contains itself to less than 10k words, a wip is very unlikely to be finished.
I'm trying to get ahead of this by not posting most of my wips until they're closer to done but, considering how much I will edit and fix and tinker, I'm tempted to just yeet things sometimes and hope the Pressure will get some writing out of me. Or maybe I'll learn how to write short again! Who knows!
But, uh, short answer: all of them.
16. What are your writing strengths?
I think I'm pretty good at character, at keeping them in-character and in line with their canon selves. I'm also told I'm apparently good at humor and my writing voice can be funny, which is, I suppose, how people can tolerate the angsty angsty shit that comes with it.
I also tend towards pretty clean first drafts!
17. What are your writing weaknesses?
d e s c r i p t o n s and, as a result, physical blocking!
I can't visualise very well? Usually characters exist in a formless void for me, so I have to figure out visual details by logicking it out or deciding what seems fitting for the scene. But things that require physicality, like fight scenes or sex scenes, god, just...hate them. Hate hate.
Also, first drafts. I may write clean, but it's a struggle every moment and often includes a lot of back-tracking as I'm writing or redoing altogether. This may or may not be why they're clean.
18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic?
I don't tend to do it myself. Like it's fine if a writer does, but I see no need to include entire lines of dialogue in another language personally. If the PoV character understands it, then inserting something the reader might not, or needs a footnote to understand, breaks the flow, imo. If the point is that the PoV character can't understand it, that's fair, but I'd still almost always rather just say "the other characters carried on with a conversation PoV Character couldn't understand," or something even if the other language is one I speak and am confident in myself.
This only goes for full lines of dialogue, though, as opposed to things like titles or place names or concepts that would be awkward or weird to translate.
19. First fandom you wrote for?
The Fandom That Must Not Be Named. I was ten years old and just came off bingeing Prisoner of Azkaban. Thinking back on it, even that first fic had a tragic, angsty end lmfao
20. Favorite fic you’ve written?
Do not make me choose between my babies this way, how dare.
...that said, I'm really proud of salvage. It's one of those fics where I could feel myself levellng up a bit as I wrote, description-wise and just atmosphere-wise. Unsurprisingly, it's also a very difficult fic to write, which why updates have been so slow.
I'm also proud of how youth dipped in folly came out, considering I needed to gut it and rebuild it entirely in the second draft. I like the urban fantasy magical worldbuilding it has a lot, what with Gerry Keay essentially being an urban fantasy protagonist in the background of a horror podcast.
and as for favourite for sheer vibes, I think my unnamed unposted Hong-er never fell au that I'm currently working on is filling that role, because I fucking love writing in second person, it's so fun.
phew okay I think that's everything. tagging @kneesntoess and @smallhorizons (two in one day I know I'm sorry) and also @inkpot-demigod (yes this is revenge, I am not sorry), and whoever would like to give this a go!

20 Questions for Fic Writers
I wasn't technically tagged in this but it popped up in one of my old ship tags so close enough!
How many works do you have on AO3? 18, I'm not very prolific haha
What's your total AO3 word count? 60,598 (again, not very prolific lol)
What fandoms do you write for? It changes over time, depending on what I get inspired by. Back in the old days (not on AO3) it was a lot of Pokemon and Gundam Wing. On AO3, it's been mostly Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter (yes I know lol), Victoria (ITV), and Remedyverse. You may notice 2 of those 3 feature Rufus Sewell in them. :D
What are your top 5 fics by kudos? Autumn Hearts, my first big fanfic; To The Rescue, which was written for a friend; Christmas Lights; Compass Rose; and Winter Hearts, the attempted sequel to Autumn Hearts that I ran out of steam for. 4 out of 5 are for the ship Vicbourne from Victoria, a fandom I was very active in at the time. (Hopefully one day a Remedyverse fic will pull into that lineup!)
Do you respond to comments? Yes, just about every one! Sometimes I don't if it's been multiple years since I wrote the thing and I don't have much to say back, since I figure some people don't necessarily want the author to respond anyway.
What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending? Uhhh maybe Dreams of Zanarkand, but it could tie with a couple others depending on how you look at them. I don't tend to write angsty endings in particular, more just one-shots or chapters.
What's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending? Autumn Hearts, for sure. It's akin to a fix-it fic.
Do you get hate on fics? Not really. I had someone harassing me via comments some years ago, but despite what they said, it wasn't really about the fanfics.
Do you write smut? Yep, sometimes.
Do you write crossovers? I used to, a looong time ago, but not anymore.
Have you ever had a fic stolen? I don't think so.
Have you ever had a fic translated? No, but that would be cool!
Have you ever co-written a fic before? Yes, though not in a very long time.
What's your all-time favorite ship? Whatever my current one is. :D Haha but seriously, aside from a few pieces that I wrote for friends, you can pretty much tell what I'm fixated on by what I'm writing about.
What's a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will? Honestly, Winter Hearts was never intended to be finished because it was just going to be something I chipped away at when I felt like it and had ideas, but it would have been really cool to have the full 4 seasons of titles. I tend not to post anything unless it's finished, these days, because having them sit there unfinished saps my motivation.
What are your writing strengths? Dialogue that flows and sounds natural and in-character, I hope. If nothing else, I want to get the characters right, even in AUs. Most of my stuff is character-based rather than plot-based, anyway. I also love leaving little crumbs from the source material in my writing, like exact phrases or motifs used in different ways. Not sure if that counts as a strength.
What are your writing weaknesses? Supplementing dialogue with action or prose. I often like letting the reader draw their own conclusions, but I think that can make things a little sparse or unclear. And long plots are hard. And I'm just a rather concise writer in general, so nothing gets particularly long, even when another writer might have the same thing be twice as long.
Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic? I don't really do this because I don't have occasion to, but there are various ways to do it. If it's substantial and you want it to actually be understandable to the reader and aren't relying on, say, language puns or something, then just mentioning they're speaking another language and putting that dialogue in italics can work.
First fandom you wrote for? Pokemon, so many years ago! I actually wrote a story with my friend by passing notes in class, kind of like roleplay but before I knew what that was. I copied a lot of it into a little notebook that I still have. I didn't even know to start a new line for each character's dialogue back then!
Favorite fic you've written? Autumn Hearts and now Apeiron. They're my most ambitious. Though Autumn Hearts will always hold a special place for me because it taught me I could finish something that long.
I'm tagging @wondrouswendy @pintsizeninja @residentvampp @zoi-no-miko @ryanthedemiboy and anyone else who sees this that wants to! No obligation to those I did tag, of course.

inevitability is a stupid, stupid, thing (marvel, penny parker)
if you're so smart, tell me why are you still so afraid? (suits)
and home isn't quite the same, but it's far from unachievable (hawkeye)
big brothers make it okay (clone wars)
5. Do you respond to comments?
yup! comments are my lifeblood and i usually respond quickly, but at the moment i have a few i still haven't responded to. it's my one and only fic superpower lol
6. What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?
frickity-- i write a lot of angst but it usually ends well?? love, where it cannot be found is pretty overall angst but i think i pulled of the balance pretty well, also probably call me what i am, call me a monster. that one's just straight angst.
7. What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
hehe there are many, i'm an au fanatic so probably heaven swallows the smoke because i'm really attached to it and everyone lives/nobody dies endings are my favorites
8. Do you get hate on fics?
usually very passive aggressive hate because no one wants to be a bully on main lol but yeah pretty regularly i get a bit of "so hey you actually wrote this tiny inconsequential thing out of character and i'm entitled to making you fix it in your work of fiction that you literally wrote for yourself because you wanted to and i'm acting like i paid money for this content" which are admittedly kinda fun to reply to lol. recently had someone say "the translation you used for beowulf for a very small part of this fic that doesn't matter is actually mid and you should be using this version instead" it was a weird day
9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind?
nope, but y'all do what you wanna do. i think smut can be written tastefully i'm just too wimpy
10. Do you write crossovers?
no, but i would if i had the inspo
11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?
i had my entire wattpad era of fic stolen on one of those weird bootleg fic websites, but as i said last time, it's all trash they can have it
12. Have you ever had a fic translated?
no but i'm working on translating all my fic into legible prose instead of one giant brain fart. that'll be the day
13. Have you ever co-written a fic before?
i attempted to with two friends like multiple years ago and we never finished it and i think i had a mental breakdown over it. so no lol
14. What’s your all time favorite ship?
GNKLSJDKJD uh so now that it's cannon i can say shartney. they have my entire heart
15. What’s a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?
i'm working on a summer camp au that i love and also a star wars fic i've shared snippets of because i'm not sure i'll ever finish it ahaha
16. What are your writing strengths?
prose and dialogue!
17. What are your writing weaknesses?
pacing chapters, works over 10k, and making first person pov not sound like it was written by a twelve year old
18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic?
it's pretty cool! i've done a little ASL in fic which is always fun to write, although since it's based off english it's not really translated into written word any differently, but i'd love to become more confident in writing some french into fic. je parle un peu français, mais je n'y suis pas à l'aise.
19. First fandom you wrote for?
technically i think it was either BBC's Merlin or marvel, but i'm almost certain both of those have been burned by the pits of the google docs trash can
20. Favorite fic you’ve written?
i already added it but i'm adding it again, heaven swallows the smoke is one i published recently and i've been working on for a while. it's not perfectly formatted or paced but i love the characters and the plot so it makes me happy <3
i've tagged a lot of people in these things before so let this be known as your tag! if you want to participate, this is your permission <3

1, 10, 13, 15, 21 for the ao3 wrapped!! 🙏
Oh lol. Sorry anon, I was so tired last night I missed this notif. (But considering how many there are… It's for the best, haha.) To every one else… Sorry this is so long.
How many words have you written this year?
Per AO3, 56,212 words so far. Realistically, probably over 100k more than this? (And I'm guessing it counts all of a fic that started being posted at the very end of last year. So idk.)
We have… 76k+ for the AU, 16k for the exchange fic that will be posted in the next 2 weeks, 7k+ for that fail attempt at a smutty fic, 4k+ for the absolute worst smut you've read (a different attempt)… These are just off the top of my head/recent docs. And lots of smaller one shots, ficlets and all that I have either not gotten around to editing and posting or just don't think they're good enough. (Aka my whole thing.)
10. What work was the quickest to write?
hm. Full disclosure, going by vibes, because I don't want to check 9 (actually like 16?) documents rn. Maybe later? Out of the posted ones, I think it was likely one of the ficlets! (Duh. They are so short.) I remember the one beds were quick, but I think most from the ficlet story (where the other six are) also apply!
Out of the longer stories, I honestly do not remember! Though they obviously grow a lot as I edit them, some of the original ideas go back years. lovely to sit between comfort and chaos, probably? I was coming off a bad rut. I also feel like most of still you never took your hand from me applies because I wanted to get to the next idea, but I feel like filling those gaps I left open took me a couple of days.
13. What’s your longest work of the year?
Currently? still you never took your hand from mine. It's 48 words longer than the press fic.
In a couple of weeks? It's probably going to be the exchange fic. People are going to be all 'ain't reading all that' and that's fair.
15. What WIP are you taking into next year with you?
lmao, what am I not taking? See above: leaving things mostly finished but unpublished because I don't want to bother my beta, and I don't feel they're good enough. I guess the best answer is the pregnancy AU. Unlike the "famous" (not) IM AU from 2021 with 150k words sitting on my drive, I haven't been churning out chapters every 2-3 days. I have ideas but not a clear direction for what specifically happens in every chapter.
21. How many kudos in total did you get this year?
273. The most so far! (Last year, I posted more, got 18 more hits than I've gotten so far this year, but got less kudos than in 2021, which is so encouraging.) This year, I definitely see the server's influence, and that it feels like there are more people around, but I also know I'm far, farrrr behind some of my peers friends.
Thank you, nonnie! more ao3 wrapped questions here, if there are any left :'D
