I don't have anything for vash's and knives' birthday but I DO have an update on my current vashwood wip: I am Hoping to post the first chapter next week? bastard turned into a 5.8k monstrosity, it just needs some betaing so I'm waiting for that to be done and then it'll go up! until then I'm gonna work on chapter 2 some more :3
also I feel comfy enough now to tell you what it's about, though the drawing of vash I made for it the other day was kind of a clue already: it's a canon divergence, beauty and the beast-flavored au fic 👀
here's my attempt at a summary:
Months after the July disaster, Wolfwood is asked by a small town to kill the monster that lives in the vestiges of an old ship. Although he refuses, a little girl's plea not to hurt her friend sends him on a new course—not knowing the beast he'll find in the wreckage might be more than he bargained for.
#bee talks#once again a mix of tristamp and trimax#i just really really like wolfwood having been there to witness the july disaster#my baby is hopefully going to be a rollercoaster of emotions i hope you're ready#also will introduce my trigun oc because i love him and i'm gonna make y'all love him too#at least i hope you'll love him as much as people loved the oc from my last multi-chap fic#who surprisingly turned out to be a favorite#ANYWAY I'M SO EXCITED ABOUT IT#FIRST MULTI-CHAP FIC IN THREE YEARS LET'S GOOOOO#(i say knowing i will internally cry from the pressure i put on myself at some point or another)#creechur fic

Beware of major Trigun spoilers!
Part 1 | Part 2 | Part 3 | Part 4 | Part 5 | Part 6 | Part 7 | Part 8 | Read from right to left
(they are not necessarily chronological to the events in the au, I’ll just be drawing what scenes come to mind)
First part of my Vashwood Reincarnation AU that I’m gonna call “Cutting the Strings of Fate”, which planted itself in my mind some days ago! The concept takes part in the future after the Trigun Maximum events.
While I was drawing I was wondering if Vash is a bit too ooc here maybe? Tristamp Vash is a pretty diffcícult character to grasp for me, but I think considering that he hasn’t really lived through all that that he did in the anime, and just starts to remember the events in the manga, it’s ok if he’s a bit more carefree at first, and not so completely the depressed and sad puppy from the anime...Anyway, mixing the Tristamp characters with the Trimax universe was a fun idea to me! I love both iterations of the characters and their respective universes a lot, sooo why not mash them together?
Look under the cut for the whole story idea:
Many decades after the events of Trigun Maximum, Vash is reborn on the same planet. Even though still needed to sustain themselves, humans are less dependant of plants now, and the great project to cultivate the planet has been very successfull, with the first forests and occassional green that will grow out of the dry soil. Vash is a young but skillful plant engineer, who will also from time to time help out in different towns to have a look at their local plants. One day he starts having dreams about his past life, with them getting clearer and clearer and revealing more of his past. He meets Zazie, who is still the old Beast who knew Vash the Stampede. Because of that, Zazie notices that the very individual electric impulse of Vash, that every being gives off and can be detected by the worms, is indeed very close to the same signal of Vash the Stampede. Thus confirming that Vash is indeed some kind of reincarnation.
Vash's brother Nai works as a bioengineer, looking after the preservation of important vegetation in another city, where their mother Rem lives, too. Vash meets Wolfwood, who starts to help out in the plant facility as a odd-job man, and they grow closer together. One day though, an accident happens, convincing Vash and Zazie that Vash's history is trying to repeat itself. They fear that just like in the past, Nai who is obviously another reincarnation could run berserk, and that Rem and Wolfwood are, just as well, in danger to become fate's victim once again.
With the help of Zazie that can feel how, after each past event repeating itself in some way, Vash's and the others' electric signals grow closer to their past selves', they try to defy fate and bring about a happy end for everyone. (Yay!)

this is a post that is critical of tristamp, ignore if you dont want to see the late night ramble about what ive seen in the fandom
i still dont understand how tristamp only fans still justify hating the 98 series/thinking tristamp is better than it because "tristamp is more accurate to the manga" (making a post about it now because i saw someone say this once again)
like. no its not in the slightest, if anything 98 is actually closer to the manga. yeah tristamp may have included characters 98 didnt have, but tristamp is plot-adjacent to the original trimax plot even as a prologue because its already mixed up the original plotpoints too much for it to accurately follow the manga
like the steamer arc? it would not make sense to repeat it again to include neon and kaite. they would have to make an entirely new arc for that because it would feel repetitive to make another steamer episode with the bad lads when they already used it as a plot point for premature livio/ww character development.
plus tristamp has completely changed character dynamics and even personalities. example being millions knives, trimax knives and tristamp knives are not equals and i dont see tristamp knives ever being the same as trimax knives because they have changed him to always have been a cold character rather than the warm child trimax knives was originally. this is a major change to his entire character path and changes his fundamental character motives
tristamp introduced me to the trigun fandom and tristamp also made me dislike participating in a large part of the fandom because of tristamp being put on a pedestal as the golden child 💀

I once again got the urge to work on my Trigun Stampede Broadway Musical Concept. But I feel it requires me to do more research on musicals. Expand my horizons for the music references.
For the record, I'm thinking about writing an outline with the song concepts and summarizing how they progress or move the plot. Note the changes in characterization and make a little Bible of ideas on how to bring it to life like effects and costumes.
There would also be song references from other musicals, not necessarily the content of the song but the mood and style mixed with notes on instrumentation or allusions to the tristamp ost.
Finally I would make a playbill cover. Cause most musicals do stylized iconic renderings that don't depict detailed actors for the sake of a rotating cast.
I just have to decide how overtly gay we are getting cuz the vashwood dynamic would be the real heart of the narrative. It would be very subversive to not be explicit with a romantic subplot but we could maintain the emotional core of all the relationships regardless.
But omg I'm reviewing some dialogue from trimax and like there would be no way to drop some of these lines in song and not feel a romantic motif. Song does that lol. These guys have to be the emotional backbone.
At the risk of sounding heteronormative, Meryl would need a narrative upgrade as the sole female lead... I know romance is not my only choice here but it is the musical trope satisfying one. I'm gonna try to avoid it. Even though I have a real soft spot for vashmeryl.
She is the audience insert character and I would have to do well to make her not passive but maybe grow towards something in her relationship to parallel the themes of human nature, in a way that tristamp couldn't/ didnt have the air time to do. Maybe mess with her motives a bit, give her some kind of commentary on the setting and have her make an active choice, maybe in the plant reveal turn of the narrative (which is an act 1 finale thing as of now, act 2 is flashback and maybe an original escalating plotline). This isn't corrective by any means, I love Meryl but the engagement in a musical setting is very different.
I know for a fact that I'll have to rearrange some things and combine some ideas from even the tristamp formula. Mainly to fit into the 2 act format or accommodate the flow and set.
I'm rambling but most musicals don't have lore and tristamp has lore and I think it could be really really effective and cool. Ahhh this is just an excuse to listen to a bunch if show tunes.
Anywhere, does this sound interesting or am I just crazy? The right kind of crazy?
#trigun#trigun stampede#this is a very strange project especially in how to execute and share it with others#but like guys im obsessed#trigun would make a very cool musical#think of all the normal folk having thier minds melted by some starwars dune western musical#itd be a surprise akin to hamilton#trigun musical concept#thats my tag for it
