Everyone keeps saying Five referred to his siblings by name when he came back so that still leaves us with 2 options.

Grace attempted to give him a real boy name and Five was in his smarmy, annoying, going through puberty the first time around phase and said Nah, being just a number is cool. If he hadn't just gone with that he'd have probably picked something lame like The Myst.

The names came after Five left. We know Five found and read Viktor's autobiography during the apocalypse so imagine a baby Five dealing with the general shitshow that his life had become WHILE trying to figure who Viktor is calling out now via context clues and was doing his best not to get them all mixed up when he met them again in 2019.

Rewatching the Umbrella Academy has me thinking once more about Five being just Five. All the others have normal civilian names, chosen by Grace supposedly, except for him. That leaves two slightly hilarious options.

Five was asked about a name prior to hopping forward in time and was like 'nah I like being a number' and blinked away or the more plausible option that

Which leads me to this idea that each of the Umbrellas had given thought over the years to a name for their lost, wayward brother.

Luthor: Guy. Am I the only one seeing Luthor crying because Five had been the Boy within their team and then never got to grow up but if he did he'd be a Guy. It feels like him to equate Five's alias to his name.

Diego: Diego would come up with nerdy, annoying names for a nerdy, annoying brother. He'd think to himself that Albert would fit him and Diego would call him Albrat when he was being a prick. If he were still around that is.

Allison: Allison would be flipping through the baby book when pregnant with Claire looking for names with meanings like Lost or Traveler or Beloved Son coming up with names like Wendell or Calian.

Klaus: Klaus would absolutely refuse to mentally settle on a name. He's gone through a million of them from Mario to Klaus Jr to Off Brand Peanut Butter Cup to Jeff. It's easier to play around with different names than to think about how Five isn't around to choose.

Ben: He seems like the kind of dude who never really formed any other names for Five. Like Five is Five? He listened to Klaus's ideas from silly to serious and Ben was never able to take them seriously.

Viktor: He'd given it some thought during childhood but never really thought about it seriously until Five returned. Though unmentioned, some of the ideas that Viktor had tosses around - before and after Five's return - were some suggestions Five would have approved of.

I have a soft spot for the World of Darkness games, especially Werewolf: the Apocalypse, from having spent way too much time over the years just reading the lore and really immersing myself in them, but like let's be fair. The World of Darkness is actually kind of bad and kind of sucks. But that's okay, 'cause it's got immaculate vibes.

The thing to know about World of Darkness is that even though the games can be presented simply as "urban fantasy where you play the monsters" that's a gross oversimplification. A groversimplification, if you will. Because World of Darkness is more like the Marvel Universe of urban fantasy, by which I mean that to even get into it you kind of have to be ready to accept a lot of extremely indecipherable lore and Proper Nouns that have accummulated over the years.

And much like with the Marvel Universe sometimes the people working on World of Darkness realize "hold on we've gone stupid again, we need to start over" and wipe the slate clean. That's basically what the latest editions of the World of Darkness games represent: them basically doing a soft reboot of the whole game line in order to get rid of a lot of the stupid. But don't worry, Vampire 5e has been around for a while now and has a lot of supplements for it already, so I'm sure there's plenty of new kinds of stupid there. Werewolf 5e is relatively recent so it hasn't had the time for the stupid to fester yet.

So like, I emphatically would not recommend the World of Darkness games for someone who's just looking for an urban fantasy game. I would recommend them to someone who wants urban fantasy with a very specific grimy texture. That's the best way I can describe the World of Darkness games: they have a lot of texture. It's a brand of urban fantasy I happen to like but it's like. I like it almost in spite of itself. The World of Darkness is a very specific kind of stupid and honestly if you want to read like made-up linguistics about the origin of the clan name Lasombra or like why the Clan Nosferatu has always been called that despite the word not being coined until the 1800s or why Clan Toreador has always been called that despite the word not having been coined until the 1800s. Damn, there's a lot of that around. Anyway, World of Darkness has got that in spades.

Now if you do want just like urban fantasy where you can play the monsters where you don't need to ingest a short comic book run's worth of lore in order for the gameplay to make sense, there are better avenues. For a very straight take on urban fantasy that is also very grounded in real world mythology and folklore I would go for Eureka: Investigative Urban Fantasy by @anim-ttrpgs. If I was looking for a more grimey splatterpunk sort of vibe I would opt for Esoteric Enterprises by @cavegirlpoems. World of Darkness is for time when I want to play werewolves with the girlies and talk about where the different werewolf tribes would have stood on The Troubles.

The important thing to understand is: if you're getting into Vampire: the Masquerade you're not getting a vampire roleplaying game, you're getting a game about playing a very specific type of vampire with a trenchcoat and a katana and sometimes cool shadow tentacle superpowers that is actually only kind of like a vampire. If you're getting into Werewolf: the Apocalypse you're not getting a roleplaying game about guys who sometimes turn into wolves and then get mad. You're getting a roleplaying game about spirit guys who fight against spirits of pollution on the spiritual planes and who can turn into wolves and then get mad. There's very much its own distinct mythology there, and there are games out there that do not come with such specific mythology.

the multi colored sunset is almost blinding to your bright green eyes. it was around 730 in alexandria when you sat yourself down on the vacant chair resting on carl's front porch. you silently sat there waiting, reminiscing on your rough but beautiful past with carl. it was about five minutes of waiting before he noticed your presence on his porch. carl made his way out the front door and planted his tall, slender frame against the porch railing.

he lets you sit in silence for just a few minutes as you disassociate in front of him. the soft touch of carl's hand resting on your shoulder shakes you out of your thoughts. his hand renders much larger in comparison to your shoulders. "what's going on in there?" carl questions, pointing to your dark locks.

"i'm just thinking about you... us. our past together." you say with a soft smile, still focusing your eyes straight ahead. "oh yeah? tell me about it." carl said sweetly, retreating back to his spot on the banister.

you sink in your seat a little bit before responding just above a whisper, "i'm just thinking about when everything started... when we were kids."

"like how you were so protective of me?" carl giggles under his breath, also reflecting on how you and him acted together as kids.

"i just wanted to save you from all the hurt and impurities of the cruel stupid world we live in." carl’s face immediately softens. he had a feeling that you were possessive and a little too caring, but he never heard you say it straight out.

carl's bloodcurdling screams could be heard throughout the entirety of the prison. maybe even disrupting the lonesome walkers lurking around the outside. "carl? carl!" you scream out, your adolescent voice cracking throughout your screams. your girly sandals clicking loudly against the concrete floor.

"no! don't come over here!" rick shouts, trying to shield you from the horrific scene you were about to witness. instead of listening to rick’s demands, you push him to the side to help carl. but once you've seen lori's dead body and carl holding a gun, your feet stop.

"lia, no, please. this isn't..." carl falls to his knees, dropping rick’s pistol. he doesn't know what to say to make this seem any better. but you ran to his aid anyway. holding him and stroking his hair as he wailed and wailed into your neck. you held him for what felt like hours, slightly rocking him back and forth to sooth him. trying your best to take him away from his newfound trauma for a second.

“you were just a kid, carl.” you sniffled, tears rolling down your rosy cheeks. carl didn’t even respond, he just brought you to his chest. holding you close to him in a warm, soft embrace. his fingers tangled in your hair in an attempt to calm you down. just like you did for carl in the prison.

once you felt his fingers tangled in your hair, you placed your hand on top of his. the feeling of his hand in yours, reminded you of how carl’s hair is getting longer and scraggly. his brown locks were getting hard to tame. “you know carl… your hair.. it’s getting too long.” you spaced out your sentence in fear that carl would turn away. lori was the only one who cut his hair. it was a unspoken thing that carl just didn’t cut his hair after she passed. but you wanted to try. you wanted to be there for him.

carl took off his hat and looked you deep in your green eyes. “i know what you’re asking, okay? just make it quick.” your face lit up at his response, but you tried to conceal it not to overwhelm him. this was a huge honor from carl.

carl took your hand in his and lead you inside the front door of his alexandria home. rick lived there too, but mostly he resided with michonne. the place was all to yourselves for the night. the fact that rick was absent from the home made your tummy flutter.

while you obtained all the supplies needed to give carl a hair cut, he just sat down in a chair in the kitchen. he was awaiting his demise. carl felt severely embarrassed that such a small thing was so hard for him to do. but it was more than lori. it was also the fact that his hair kept eyes away from his deformed face.

you started to lay a towel around him to catch the hair but he put his hands up to push it away. “i don’t want my hair to get all over my shirt.” carl mumbled, taking off his flannel and v-neck t shirt. the act made your eyes widen, and your core tense up. but whatever made carl feel better in this stressful process.

resuming back to prepping him, you placed the towel around his neck and chest as a makeshift salon cape. but you remembered his hair needed to be wet to properly cut it.

“shit.” you sighed, pulling the towel off. “carl, we need to wet your hair.”

“it’s fine, lia. i got it.” he grumbled, taking the towel off his chest. carl marched to the kitchen sink and stuck his hair under the warm water.

the sounds of scissors snipping hair filled the air of carl’s home. his head stayed as stiff as a board. you can hear carl’s voice replaying in your head over and over as you meticulously trimmed his honey brown locks. “don’t go too short. just a trim, lia.” his stern tone rattled inside your mind.

“are you almost done?” carl put his hand in his hair to feel around but you quickly swatted it away with your free hand. “oh my god, i’m sorry. i just don’t wanna mess it up okay? i’m almost done.” and before he knew it, carl’s trim was done. it felt like an hour to him but it was only 10 minutes.

“and we’re done, grimes. get a good look.” you handed him a compact mirror for him to look at himself. it was the only thing you had on hand.

“it looks good, lia. thank you.” carl flashed a smile your way before running his slender fingers through his hair a few times. after an inspection on his new cut, he put his hat on to make the look come together. it really did look good, you barely dusted off the ends of his hair. “you look like the same ol, cute carl.” you whispered with a disgustingly large smile on your face. you wanted to make carl feel good about this situation. that it was just dusting off the dead ends. like it needed to happen.

“thank you, sweetheart.” carl gave you a genuine, loving smile. sweetheart made you blush. carl wasn’t a pet name guy. but you savored the pet name like a yummy drink on your tongue. you couldn’t savor it long before you felt the feeling of carl’s plush, soft lips on top of yours.

@jolapeno is encouraging us all to list the favorite things we've made this year. And @sixhours and @jeewrites are superlative humans and they have tagged me and I am grateful for that!

I'm not gonna lie, y'all. When I'm asked to reflect on what I've created in the fandom this year...well, "depressed" is a word I could use.

But. It's been such a lovely year in the fandom. We were treated to a Fox, a Roman general, a boy-who-never-grew-up, and a penis collector, not to mention the promise of a very flexible scientific-genius wifeguy and sneak peeks of everyone's favorite melancholy apocalypse survivor.

Thank you to everyone who was helping us keep a lookout for nasty folks and helping to combat deplorable behaviors, and thank you to everyone who did their part keeping spirits bright.

And I will be forever grateful for @pedroscouts and @pedrosummercamp ...it literally gave me something to focus on when my days were running away from me and introduced me to some really sassy and hilarious new friends. <3

Fluffbruary Six-Sentence Ficlets - multiple I tried, y'all. I tried real hard. I got through 15! And I was making a new header for each one! And then life got real busy and I had to stop. But I have every prompt assigned and I decided I'm gonna reblog the first half and post the second half this February. I know they're not a popular series, but they make me happy, so they're getting doing!

Leave Off Your Wandering - Joel Technically, I did finish this one, since I had always planned for it to be just the four parts. But at the end of the Winter chapter, I realized it needed an epilogue, so there's another chapter coming. And it's not far off. I may finish it before the end of the year and then it will really not be a lie. But first.....

noble blood by @forest-hashira (satoru & suguru, ongoing) - i haven't read this one yet, but both of fallon's entries for my collab were incredible, so i can only imagine this is too! plus, the premise is SO insane, it's about dragon riders, and there's an entire sheet with all lore that they've created !! i can see how much love and care was put into this one, so i can't wait to check it out !!

oh, baby! by @tetsuskei (kuroo, ongoing) - i have yet to read the first part (everyone throw tomatoes at me) but risu posted some parts on her old blog & i read it there! it's so so sweet!! i looove all her writing, and dad!kuroo is just the cutest thing EVER.

waterloo by @fyorina (dazai, ongoing) - i haven't read this one yet either but i am SO SO incredibly excited to get to it. this one is going to be long, so it might be what you're looking for !! the first two parts are out already, and there's a posting schedule if you want to know when they're coming out :)

bulletproof love by @staryukis (gojo, ongoing) - i've really enjoyed this one so far and logan's writing is so captivating <3 it feels just like missing scenes from in between the canon jjk storyline. logan also has a mini zombie apocalypse series i've been excited to read after reading the other series !! it's dying (for your love).

regrets by @/kingkonoha (levi, complete) is so good !! i still need to finish it, but the concept is super cool & the reader is the antagonist so it's a really interesting spin on levi's actions in the canon universe.

tidal temptations by @fyodorloveclub (fyodor, ongoing) - i have also yet to read this one (cries myself to sleep my tbr is never ending), but everything flora writes is incredible, so i have no doubt this one is too. it's a merman fyodor fic, which is such a cool concept i'm so excited to see where it goes !!!

hell within reach by @/ddarker-dreams (chrollo, complete) - omg. ok i read this one like 2 years ago LOL, but it's finished and its about 80k long, and it's so good <3 i used to be an insane chrollo girlie & this is one of my favorite fics about him.

lover's delight by @lovelyluc (diluc, ongoing) - i don't even play genshin or know anything about it HSHFSDFH but this one is so sweet <3 you can really see how much awea loves diluc in this series, which is my favorite thing about reading fics, and it has so many of my favorite tropes !!

geheinisse by @honeybleed (jean & reiner, ongoing) - only the first part of this is out but it's SO INCREDIBLE. there's so much drama already, and nara does such a great job of setting the scene while getting you hooked immediately. nara also has a two part reiner fic (the first part is decades) that's completed and over 10k words that i'll never forget! her characterization of reiner is so yummy.

if it wasn't for him (would you have me) by @gojoath (yuuta, ongoing) - cella's the ceo of yandere yuuta, so if you're into him, i can't think of anyone else to recommend !!! cella wrote another yuuta series that i think is completed, so there are lots of amazing things to read on her blog <3

@osaemu has a streamer!gojo series that are all in the same universe & connect! they're so funny & everything sabs writes is amazing, so i encourage you to check out her work if you haven't

the lakehouse by @tetzoro (kuroo, ongoing) - rahhh i'm the worst bc i still haven't read this but aims is one of my favorite writers on here, so trust me it's amazing. this was written for october, so if you're missing autumn rn def read this one! aims also has another kuroo series coming soon <3

A lot of people having been voicing their opinions about the romance pace in rc, so here's mine

I'm a slowburn girlie, I think seasons are extremely important to how you pace your slowburn, if it's a 4 season book - you can slowburn to the death of you but by season 3, start wrapping shit up and make them a full blown couple... if it's a 3-seasons book, mami start giving us the couple shit by beginning of season 2 (not whatever wtc is doing because the fans keep complaining of lack of romance)

As much as I love slowburns, I also love passion and smut, If it's deadass in season 3 and they are barely having sex or aren't spending a large amount of time being a couple, that's torture-burn not slowburn

And slowburn is needed if their relationship is really complicated e.g enemies to lovers Tiss and the entire imperial characters (I trust jester in this, he is best in the slow pace)....I would have also said amen and eva as an enemies to lovers example of why slowburn is needed but they aren't slowburn

orrr if there's some angst on their route like memory loss or something cain and lane, or where the situation they're in doesn't allow much space for feelings like being a leader with people relying on you in the apocalypse e.g dmitry and lane....slowburn is needed

BUT, what I seriously dislike about some rc books is the LI only getting together at the end because they were slowburn...like wtf?? (And it's most times the 3-season books, they're always rushed) No, I want to see them go through couple things for half of the book please, not rushing them through 3 episodes and giving us some tired ass wedding at the end....which is why I need most books to be four seasons, give them enough time to spread out the relationship while also focusing on the plot

A couple getting together early on in the season and staying throughout with nothing to spice up the relationship but dry ass sex scenes and little to no couple interactions, then having a wedding in the last season, does absolutely nothing for me which is why I love slowburn/angst (give us all the drama and feelings in the beginning and by the time the boring part is coming, where the couple no longer wows the reader, the story would have already started wrapping up)
