despite what the most recent posts on my blog will tell you, i did actually get some things done around here these past few days. mainly working on drafts. but i didn't manage to finish anything. head's been all over the place and i've been drowning that out with video games. mandatory overtime is supposed to start this week, but i got a message from the boss yesterday that demand isn't as high as they were expecting it to be, so we're working our normal 8 hour shifts. except for me. because i already had appointments booked for my 12 hour shifts. including monday ( which i don't normally work, but we were required to since we're getting thanksgiving off ). so i only got 1 day off to recoup from that horrid week i had last week. so here i am at 12am, fighting off a headache so i can get some sleep for this 12 hour shift i shouldn't be working, while everyone else either gets to stay home because they didn't book any work or gets to go home early. and, oh yeah, let's not forget that i STILL DON'T HAVE A HELPER —

Asa was just chilling on her bed, scrolling through social media and giggling at all the cute cat videos she saw in her feed, she was just about to send you one of those videos when she heard her doorbell ring

"Oh? Coming"

She was a bit confused since she didn't invite anyone but maybe it was you coming to pay her a visit so she put on her shoes and opened the door

On the other side of the door, there was a beautiful red-haired woman with ringed yellow eyes that asa instantly recognized from every time she was on the news

"Hel-"

Panicked, asa gasped and closed the door in the woman's face

"YORU!"

"Huh? What did I do now?"

"Why the hell is the head of public safety at my door?"

"And how the hell should I know? Why do you assume it's because of me?"

"Did she find out about you? DOES SHE WANT TO KILL ME BECAUSE OF THAT!?"

"She's my sister why would she want to kill me? Also she already knows"

"......she does?"

"She knows a lot of stuff, she's kinda creepy if you ask me"

"Then why is she here?"

"You're not gonna find out if you keep the door closed"

".........."

Asa widened her eyes and immediately went to open the door, glad to see that the woman was still there

"I-i'm so sorry miss, I really didn't mean to, I was just surprised and.......please don't kill me"

Makima looked surprised for a bit before laughing

"Am I really that scary? Why would I kill you?"

"S-sorry I didn't mean to assume"

"It's fine, anyway if I stay here for too long we'll lose our flight, here's nayuta"

Asa could now see that the woman was holding the hand of a small child, a little black haired girl who had the exact same eyes as the girl holding her hand

Makima let go of nayuta's hand and tried to nudge her in the direction of asa's house but the little girl refused and stood where she was

"Come on sweetie, we already told you it will be just for a week"

"But I don't wanna stay with this boring girl!"

Asa smiled awkwardly at the child calling her boring even though they had never met before

"I'm sure you'll have fun"

"Why can't I go with you and daddy!?"

"Because it will be a lot of boring adult meetings, you really don't wanna go"

"But-"

"Let's make a deal, if you stay here and behave we'll get you all the ice cream you want for next week, anytime you want it we'll get it"

"Really?"

"Yeah, it's a promise, no a contract, but only if you behave"

"Alright! alright! I'll be the best behaved girl on the planet, I want ice cream!"

After that, nayuta ran into asa's house enthusiastically while the girl sighed at how fast she changed opinion before realizing something

"W-wait why is she in my house?"

"What do you mean? That's where she's gonna be staying for today"

".......what?"

"You already agreed to babysitting, I mean I guess yoru did but she told you that right?"

In that moment asa wanted to curse yoru but she contained herself to not make a scene...and also because there was a child behind her and frankly she was terrified at what makima was going to do to her if she swore in front of her daughter

"No......she didn't.....in fact"

"Oh, I'm sorry, well me and my husband have to go to America for a week for some really important devil hunters meetings and we wanted to leave nayuta with someone we trusted. We managed to convince aki to take her for the end of the week since she really likes denji for some reason but we still need someone to look after her for the first three days and we thought her aunts would be good'

"I see"

"OK that's it, her bedtime is at 8:00 but if she wants to stay up more let her, just make sure she's in bed by 8:15"

"W-wait I still need to babysit?"

"You don't expect us to find someone else on such short time right? It won't be hard I'm sure she'll behave, plus it will be for only a day, then you have to give her to fami"

"Fami? You mean that transfer student girl who's always crying?"

"Yes, she is also nayuta's aunt and I already told her about this. I really should be going now, see you later and make sure to look over her"

Makima started walking away from the house before remembering something and turning around to face asa

"Oh and remember to give her lots of hugs, she loves that"

"O-ok"

After makima had gone to her car asa sighed, closed the door and turned to look at the child who was now running around her house

"......so you've got a kid to take care of now better-"

"Shut up! Don't think I forgot you're the reason why I'm in this mess to begin with. Why did you sign us up to babysit? we have no children, much less any experience with them"

"Actually i-"

"And weird devil tank things don't count"

"I'm gonna call y/n. Hopefully, he knows what to do"

"You're actually-"

"I told you to shut up, now you're making me embarrass myself in front of him"

[Timeskip]

As soon as you entered asa's apartment you saw the little girl there, gasped and went over to hug her

"Awwww! She's so cute! So you're technically her aunt?"

"Yoru is but I guess, I have no idea how that works family wise"

"What's your name little girl?"

"Nayuta"

"That's a great name"

"I'm sorry for pulling you into this"

"It's totally fine, I get to take care of a cute kid with you? What's not to love"

"Hehe, I'm glad at least you're optimistic"

"Come on, we're gonna be great"

"If you say so, anyway do you have any idea what to do?"

"I looked up some stuff, and it shouldn't be hard. We need to feed her, bathe her, and play with her, among other things"

"OK"

"I wanted to see nayuta before I went out to buy some stuff we need so you stay with her for a while ok? I'm going to the supermarket"

"H-huh? Are you sure?"

"Yep, just talk to her for a while ok? Yoru should help you too since it's her niece"

"Huh? Really?"

"She just complained didn't she?"

"Yeah"

"Well, I'm sure if she doesn't want to lose kisses privileges, she'll help you"

"Hey that's not fair"

"What's not fair is you agreeing to babysit without asking me"

Asa saw you exit the house and sighed again before looking at nayuta, who now was kicking her legs on the couch

"So I really have to keep you company?"

The half devil nodded frantically

".......Alright I guess"

She sat on the couch and looked at nayuta. She immediately regretted this as there was an uncomfortable silence that seemed infinite between the 2

'What was I thinking? I can barely hold a conversation with someone my age much less a kid!'

"Heh, so you do recognize that"

"Hey!"

"Who are you talking to?"

"O-oh it's your actual aunt, she....lives in my head.....it's very weird"

"Oh ok"

"S-so do you........have any pets?"

"Oh oh, yeah I have 7 dogs"

".....s-seven? How do you handle that?"

Now nayuta was fully screaming and throwing a tantrum

'She's not even making any points she's just repeating the same things and saying she's right'

"Obviously she's a kid, have you ever argued with one?"

"Why do you think I would have?"

After way too much spent trying to calm nayuta down without any succes asa fully gave up

"Yoru, it's your turn"

"Huh?"

Suddenly asa fell unconscious before waking up and revealing her ringed eyes and scarred face

"This is the only time I'm mad she decided to give control to me"

"*gasp* what happened? Did a cat scratch you?"

"No it was actually-"

"I knew it! Dogs are better! Dogs can never scratch you"

"............I'm done arguing with a child, it's your turn now"

"Sure how hard can it be? Hey kid I'm yoru, your actual and way cooler aunt"

"Hi auntie yoru"

"So you like guns? I can make you one if you want, any other weapons to-"

Before she could finish her sentence yoru fell unconscious again and awakened to her eyes and face becoming normal

"YOU ARE NOT GIVING HER A WEAPON!"

"Huh? Why? I thought it was fun"

"Cause if you do her parents will kill us"

After thinking about how scary her sister and her husband were yoru decided to give up on the idea

"......ok I see your point"

"Finally"

"When is y/n coming back? He's been outside way too long"

As if on cue when yoru said that the door opened and you came out of it

"Hi, I'm back"

"Y-y/n, thank God you're back"

"Why what happened?"

"I made nayuta mad and yoru tried to give her a gun"

"......oh......"

"Yeah, we're not great with kids"

"I'm sure you just need some help, hey yuta you like this?"

You pulled out of the bag a teddy bear that the young girl immediately went to hug

"I love it!"

"That's great, you can keep it if you want"

"Really?"

"Yeah of course"

"You're the best uncle y/n"

Nayuta hugged you and your heart melted at that so you picked her up and hugged her back while your girlfriends watched in awe

".......he's so good with her"

"....I know he'll make a great dad for my children"

"Yeah........WAIT WHAT?"

"OK I checked and the house and it should be fully child proof"

"Wasn't it already?"

"Y-yeah but I just wanted to make sure, I also cleaned everything j-just in case"

You smiled and started petting fami's head causing her to smile

"You're taking this really seriously"

"I-i just want to be a good sister and aunt"

"You already are, and an even more amazing girlfriend"

"T-thank you y-you're an amazing boyfriend too"

After a bit you heard a knock on your door

"O-oh that must be her"

Fami went over to the door and opened it to see that standing outside there were yoru holding nayuta's hand

"Alright it's your turn now"

The war devil roughly pushed nayuta into fami who managed to grab her in time

"H-hey don't do that, s-she could have gotten hurt"

"Huh? Who cares? She's a brat anyway"

"A-and don't say stuff like that either, w-what if she's sad now?"

"Serves her right, she was so hard to please"

"YOU DIDN'T EVEN DO ANYTHING!"

"You shut up too"

Yoru started walking away and you closed the door as fami picked up nayuta

"A-alright little one, i-i'm going to be with you for today, I'm famine b-but you can call me fami, y-you're not hurt are you?"

Fami examined nayuta and sighed in relief when she saw there were no injuries before putting her on the couch

It was funny seeing the devil who was once dead set on "saving" all of humanity worrying so much over a child's safety but you smiled at all of that, proud of how much she had grown

"You're ugly"

"...h-huh?"

"Your hair is weird"

"....w-wha-"

"And your nose is runny"

".....e-eh!?"

"And your eyes are all watery! You're so ugly!"

When you saw fami starting to cry over what nayuta said you approached her and hugged her trying to comfort her

"*sniffles* s-she called me u-ugly *sniffles*"

"She didn't mean it, you know you're beautiful"

"No It's the truth she's ugly!"

You turned around and glared at the child

"And you're ugly too! You're like an uglier version of daddy!"

You fully turned towards nayuta and got closer to her

"Nayuta, apologize to fami"

"No!"

"I don't care if you think I'm ugly but fami is your aunt and you need to be nice to her"

"No! No! I don't wanna!"

"Do you want me to tell your mom and dad that you're not being nice?"

Nayuta gasped and immediately remembered the conversation she had with her mom before she was dropped off

"N-no i won't get ice cream then! Please don't tell mommy and daddy!"

"Then apologize to your aunt"

Nayuta looked down for a while before getting off the couch and going over to fami who was now crouched, crying in the corner

"*sniffles a-a kid called me ugly *sniffles*"

Fami was surprised when she looked down and saw nayuta hugging her

"I'm sorry auntie fami, I didn't mean it"

The famine devil wiped her tears and smiled slightly before hugging nayuta back

"I-it's fine, i-i just overreacted"

"You're not ugly, you're.....pretty good"

"Hehe, i-i'm glad, you're also p-pretty good"

The two fist bumped each other, and nayuta started running towards you too

"I'm sorry uncle y/n, you're pretty good too"

You patted her head and hugged her too

"It's fine nayuta, just don't be mean again ok? We just want what's best for you"

"OK, I'll be good from now on, I'll be the best!"

"I'm really glad, fami bought you a lot of stuff so why don't check it out?"

"Really? Thank you so much auntie"

"I-it's nothing, i-i'm happy you're excited about it"

Your niece ran to the box of toys and other children stuff that Your girlfriend bought and started playing with them happily while you got closer to fami

"Who knew a child could be so ruthless?"

"Y-yeah, m-maybe yoru wasn't exaggerating too much"

"Well just so you know you're way more than pretty good to me, and you're definitely not ugly"

"Y-yeah you too, you're wonderful and really handsome"

"I'm glad you think so"

You and fami shared a quick kiss that unfortunately nayuta saw

"Yeeew! It's yucky, stop kissing"

You two sighed before going over and starting to play with her

"Y/n, what do children eat?"

Now it was death's turn to take care of her niece, after fami dropped her off saying she apparently had a great time death immediately started checking the fridge to see if there was anything she could eat

"Don't say it like they're a species, every child likes something different"

Death turned away from the fridge and looked at nayuta who was currently watching cartoons on the couch

"Then what does she like to eat?"

"I think makima said she really likes ice cream and sliced bread"

"Oh"

"And no you can't give her ice cream for breakfast she doesn't have your crazy devil metabolism"

"Isn't she a devil?"

"She's a half devil, I don't think it works the same"

"I see, hey mini control-"

"Nayuta!"

"Hm?"

"My name is nayuta!"

".......mini control"

"Nayuta! Nayuta!"

Death narrowed her eyes but sighed and gave up

".........nayuta, what do you want to eat?"

"Bread, I want sliced bread"

"..........you want plain, white, sliced bread?'

"Yeah!"

"..........no"

"What do you mean no?"

"I want my niece to eat well, plain bread isn't going to satisfy her"

"....b-but she asked for it"

"Nayuta, what do you want on the bread?"

"Bread!"

".......you want bread on top of bread?"

"Yes, double bread!"

"So.......a sandwich?"

"What do you want on the sandwich?"

Nayuta stayed silent for a moment clearly deep in thought, to help her death started looking in the fridge and taking out jars

"We have a lot of jam if you want, strawberry, raspberry, blueberry, orange-"

"I WANT ALL OF THEM!"

Both you and death turned towards nayuta, who looked as enthusiastic as ever

".....you want a sandwich with every single jam we have?"

".......I might like her even more than I thought"

"Wait is that not a bit......excessive?"

You sighed and looked over to see that death had already taken every jam jar out of the fridge and had already started making a sandwich

"Alright, let's hope she doesn't have high blood sugar"

After death finished making the sandwich you noticed she had made two more, one with also every jam and another one with only one type of jam

The devil got up and grabbed the sandwich with only one jam and handed it to you

"Here, it's for you"

"Huh?"

"You didn't think I'd let you not have breakfast with us right? It's with your favorite"

You looked inside the sandwich and saw it was indeed made with your favorite jam

"Oh.....thanks"

"Don't mention it, it's the least I could do"

Death quickly kissed your cheek before grabbing the two sandwiches and going over to the couch where nayuta was sitting

"This is for you"

The girl gasped and grabbed the sandwich while giggling

"Thank you"

"Just enjoy it, and ask if you want seconds"

"N-no please don't give her seconds, I don't want her getting sick because of us"

"......You're right, her health is our priority"

"I'm glad you understand"

Fami sat next to nayuta and left a spot on her right for you, which you gladly took. You all started eating and watching the show nayuta was seeing before

Meanwhile, death was surprisingly talkative with her niece. She was able to keep a conversation with her about the show and the sandwich and even the most random of stuff and never be bored or let the conversation get awkward; you were surprised at how good she was at talking with a child and smiled at the scene

"I didn't know you were so good with kids?"

"Hm? Am I?"

"Yeah, most parents can't keep a conversation like that with the children and you didn't even know half of the things she was saying"

"Thank you, I guess it's a side effect of being the eldest of four"

Suddenly death felt a weight hit her stomach, she looked down to see that nayuta had fallen asleep on her

"........oh?"

She looked at her for a while before taking of her black hat and putting it on her. She started at her niece a bit more and turned to you, her voice being slightly lower than usual

"She looks really cute"

"Right? Especially with your hat on"

".....I wonder if I can ask control to babysit more"

"You really like nayuta don't you? I love her too, if you ever babysit her again call me I want to help too"

Death looked at you and smiled slightly

"Definitely, I'm sure it will be great"

A small bonus cause I thought it was funny

Death ringed the doorbell of the apartment control gave her the address of with nayuta in hand.

After a while a man with black hair that he had down opened the door while drinking his coffee

"Ah"

"Are you aki hayakawa?"

"Yeah, I was waiting for her"

Death let nayuta's hand go who immediately started running in the house

"Hey Mr topknot, where's big bro?"

"*sighs* I knew power was a bad influence on you, denji is in the living room if you wanna see him"

"BIG BROOOOOO!!!"

She runs enthusiastically further in the house as aki took a sip of his coffee

"She already ate so you don't have to feed her"

"Ah I see, sorry could I get your number?"

"......I have a boyfriend"

"It's not for that, I already have miss makima's number but I want to have yours too so if something happens to nayuta I can call you"

"Ah that makes sense"

The two took out their phones and death told him his number, while aki inputted it he decided to strike a conversation with the mysterious woman in front of him

"I didn't know miss makima had a sister"

"She has three actually, I'm the oldest one"

"I see"

After he finished putting the number in death started walking away but aki stopped her to ask one last question

"Oh wait, what can I save you as in the phone?"

"Oh yeah.......I'm death"

She fully turned away and aki closed the door and drank his coffee before the realization of what the woman had said fully set in and caused him to spit it out

"WAIT DID SHE SAY SHE'S THE DEATH DEVIL!?

And I am very sorry to the Hadestown fandom- but on the bright side, you still have the proshot to look forward too??? Ehhhh I'm reaching.

But I guess this is where we part ways for now, huh? Tournament's wrapped up and all. But I gotta thank you. Yes, you, reading this post. I know this sounds sappy and all, but this thing wouldn't have been as fun as it was if it weren't for you guys voting, reblogging, and sending in propaganda. I really appreciate the support and each and every one of you who took time out of their days for this. It means the world to me.

However, because of the success of this one, I will be running it again! Of course we have the first round loser's bracket in March, but this tournament itself will be becoming an annual thing, fingers crossed! I'll probably wait a few more months (or maybe even a year!) to do a second one, so don't unfollow just yet.

And one last thing for those who care- yes, as teased way at the beginning, I will be revealing my true identity on main. Stay tuned for that. I'll only be able to answer asks and stuff for a few days though, because next Saturday I'm going on a weeklong camping trip. But fire away till then.

luna, thanks for breaking down the character differences between vanilla and downpour because I'm too much of an illiterate gremlin to discern those nuances, it is much appreciated!

may I ask if there's anything from the officially published fanfiction that you did like on its own merits?

I'm assuming you're asking about characterization and narrative, instead of gameplay / world design, so I'll focus on that. on a meta level, I love the fact that downpour exists as officially published fanfiction / an official AU. It's really inspirational tbh, and it makes me feel better about making fanworks

for actual game stuff , I'll start with Spearmaster.

I like that SRS forms an attachment to their messenger, especially since they initially seemed repulsed by it. It's more interesting that they didn't immediately bond, as it creates some internal conflicts (guilt) within SRS. I also like that NSH warns them not to get too attached before it returns; it's a reasonable suggestion and may be influenced by their current loss. (of LTTM)

I could nitpick a lot here but I'm going to try and omit that for the sake of brevity and efficiency. (general statement about the ramble)

I like that NSH gets upset and stops talking to SRS for a little while, and that SRS becomes a bit desperate and anxious. It humanizes both of them. I also like that NSH says something irrational and emotional about suns sending their messenger to the wrong person, and that they immediately reflect and retract their statement. They seem emotionally mature here. I also like that SRS's question (would that have helped?) can be interpreted in multiple ways; perhaps it's a genuine inquiry out of desperation, or perhaps it's a more snide remark to ground their friend. Perhaps both. It's neat, I think.

I like NSH's broadcast to FP. I think the wording could be stronger, but it's still convincing to me. I can feel the emotion here. I can hear NSH's voice as he speaks these words in his mind. And I like that NSH asks FP to reflect upon his actions, rather than insulting him or threatening him. Again, you can interpret in multiple ways, and it serves multiple purposes. Self-reflection seems to be a weak point for DP Pebbles, especially with all of the shame. So, this remark serves as Genuine Advice, but it can also serve as... a Curse of sorts? Foreshadowing? That he must overcome this weakness of his, and that he cannot run from it forever. yay

I like Moon's final broadcast. I'm glad she got to have a moment like this, and it's fun to voice this one, too. It's sweet, and it says something about her that she wanted her final broadcast to be uplifting and warm. She wanted people to remember her and smile...

This broadcast between SI and WO may actually be my favorite, though. (of sm broadcasts I mean) I'm a huge bennie (ancient) fan, so hearing more about them is awesome. I like that different Cities had different cultures and politics, different rituals and behaviors, and (implied) different "eras" over time... I enjoy that this characterizes the bennies as diverse and fascinating, and that different Iterators had different relationships with their citizens. There's a lot to chew on here without too much to wade through, and I wish we had more broadcasts like these. I love it. <3

I like the mass rarefaction cell. I like the heart symbolism around it a lot; as someone with heart issues, it makes me happy to relate to a fictional character with them, even abstractly.

I like how it ties things into a neat little ring; FP kills moon, but he also gives her life. It's very powerful, at least conceptually. I just wish that when he gave her his physical heart, he gave her his metaphorical heart alongside it. She just wanted to speak with him one last time, and it sucks that's unfulfilled. But I appreciate the potential, at least. And I do love a reconciliation. I'm glad they made up.

also mass rarefaction cells are fun and useful! gotten a lot out of them, I think! yay.

I also like some of moon's dialogue in riv campaign and that she checks her unread messages.

The red is metallic and magnetic cats eye with silver and white decals, while the white nails are themed in gold. I can definitely attest to how pretty these are, since she also made me a set of my own; I'm wearing them as I type (badly because I'm not used to wearing nails) and they're pretty enough for me to learn how to type with nail tips. LOL! She said to warn whoever bought them that she had to glue one back to the card. Sorry about that! It doesn't affect the nail itself.

Sep strikes me as someone who might appreciate fidget toys. Or just having something to do with their hands (I'm partial to making origami myself). I'm sending over a package with a few small fidgets of varying types and materials (metal, plastic, etc.), a crochet kit, some yarn for finger knitting, a small booklet of tear-off origami paper, a couple hair ties, a puzzle, and a pair of those funny oblong magnets that make that odd sound. And a weighted plush of 33 because I don't think you've gotten many (any?) of those. Sep, I'd appreciate if you'd humor me and try a few of these out. Shouldn't get in the way of your productivity since I don't think you really need your hands for that (correct me if I'm wrong). Give it a shot if for nothing other than the sake of the scientific method (I'm testing a hypothesis here). Up to you though, of course.

i need to say this somewhere and i hope you won’t mind if i send this “rant” here. bc this is just a stupid smut pet peeve that i let annoy me so much.

but anyway every time i go to the lestappen tag i get really disheartened bc there is such a imbalance. there is so much bottom charles and omega charles and charles being loved and worshiped and i honestly wouldn’t mind that at all but the number of fics where max gets the same are pretty much nonexistent compared to charles-centric fics like there are bottom max fics but they get drowned out. pretty much all the popular fics that have thousands of kudos and that ppl recommend to everyone are bottom charles. seriously i saw a rec list once where the few bottom max fics had the fact that they are bottom max mentioned in the same manner as content warnings for some other fics. it was super weird but maybe the person who made that didn’t think it would come across like that.

i know there are lots of bottom max fics (i’ve probably read them all lol) and ppl who like both, like you. i’m happy about the ppl who comment on bottom max fics those fics still get a lot of love even when it seems so little in the grand scheme of things. but i’m just annoyed and a bit confused that it’s so disproportionate. probably bc charles is more popular than max and bottom charles has gotten so popular ppl are inclined to it and it's "safe" and gets more love.

then again there’s so much talk about omega max on tumblr and then none of that shows on ao3 weirdly. (except maybe on the maxiel side i literally became a maxiel shipper bc i wanted more omega max lol) some ppl on here who say they’re bottom/omega max “truthers” have like several top max fics on their account and no bottom max fics which literally not that deep everyone should write what they want and what they are inspired to write but not practicing what you preach confuses me a bit not gonna lie haha. i’ve written my own fics which are pretty much premises i want to desperately read but no one has written them (like fine i'll do it myself) and i've gotten a good response but i’m a slow writer so i haven't written everything i want to write. thank you for everything you’ve written laura!

I started writing maybe about two years ago and at the time a lot of the Lestappen stories were definitely bottom Charles and omega Charles. I started writing because a little bit like yourself there was some stuff I wanted to read that didn't exist so I just wrote it myself. At the time I had no clue how to write but I have hopefully improved over the past couple years! I was just desperate for there to be some more soft Max or Max being looked after and cared for. I just think Max doesn't get enough love and there can never be enough fics where it's pointed out just how hot he is!

I also like the idea of sexy, hot alpha Charles and think it's fun to not always see him in that 'babygirl' role if that makes sense. Although I can see why he ends up in that role a lot, he is also very pretty

I used to read a lot of Maxiel for the same reason as yourself, in fact I do still read Maxiel because of that reason and also because there are some very talented writers writing it. (although I also think of Daniel as being quite omega like!)

I definitely agree that there is a lot more bottom and omega Max within the lestappen tag now compared to a couple of year ago.

For me, I like to swap it around. I like to write soft alpha Max and even bottom alpha Max. The main thing for me is that the dynamic works for the story I want to tell. I have started leaning more towards omega Max though because I know that there is plenty of omega Charles out there and there are plenty of people who can write omega Charles much better than I can!!

You are absolutely correct about the comments and kudos thing. Firstly I should say that there are some amazing writers writing some amazing bottom and omega Charles fics that deserve all the love in the world and I am not for one second suggesting that they only have so many responses because of the dynamic but (at least to start with) I found that my omega Charles fics got more kudos than the omega Max ones. That might have just been a coincidence but when I start writing a story I know it will get more attention if I write it with the omega Charles dynamic. I'm not for one second suggesting that that is what people are thinking about btw, it's just a fact I have noticed with my own work. These days I just write what I like and hope some other people like it. If I ranked my fics by kudos they definitely wouldn't be in quality order so I don't worry about that now 😂

Like you have said, everyone should write what they like as it's all for fun. I am just glad there are other people out there reading and writing bottom/omega Max or even just Max getting the love and attention he deserves.

I will read top Max and I enjoy top Max. The only Max fics I don't like are where the writer clearly doesn't like Max and is making him unnecessarily aggressive or just making him the butt of the joke in a mean way. I prefer to read Lestappen when I can tell that the writer likes both of them if that makes sense (obviously people have a favourite but that's different. )

The content warning for the bottom Max fics made me giggle. I don't know what context that was in as I didn't see the post but it definitely made me laugh. Maybe it needs a content warning because its likely to alter your brain chemistry and you'll not be able to see him topping again 😂

I will always write some bottom Charles and some omega Charles because it just works in certain contexts for me but I have felt myself leaning more towards the other dynamic. Hopefully most people don't mind because there are so many Lestappen writers these days so there is definitely plenty of omega Charles to chose from.

I am shocked there is not more Omega Max x Omega Charles though as that seems to fit quite well.

this is so intense. I have zero interest in talking to people who are trying to bully me into promoting them. It's as if people are saying:

I get it, attention is nice. I'm a creator too. And it's true that current social media isn't conducive of creating and maintaining communities. But you don't build a community with aggression against your own audience.

I don't wanna hang out with people who yell at me about how they don't get enough attention. You're blaming the audience when the real problem goes way, way deeper, and this behavior of prioritizing content promotion over actual human connection is actually part of the issue. Urging people to reblog your stuff may grant you exposure, but it sure doesn't make you any friendships, at least not mine.

A few years back, I wanted to refine my comedic writing and started a whacky Fallout 4 blog long after the fandom had seen its peak. I knew there wouldn't be a large audience, but I wanted to see what would happen. Long story short, I regularly invited my followers to send asks I would answer in-character, and honestly had so much fun. I never bullied my audience for only liking and not reblogging. To the contrary; I respect my audience and their prerogative to decide for themselves what they do want to share on their blogs and what they don't. It's *their* blogs. I cannot grasp the audacity of some creators to demand space on people's personal blogs. I really can't.

I only had the Fallout blog for like 8 months and got more audience attention than I could deal with at times. I had such a blast, getting asks, replying to them, building in-jokes with my followers. I ended the blog with a small event and was met with a flood of lovely comments and good-byes. Today, four years later, I post on that blog maybe one or two times a year. And even though most of my followers unfollowed me when I ended the blog, I still get the occasional lovely comment. After four years, people still remember the great time we had.

Good thing I didn't block all those wonderful people who mainly liked but didn't reblog. Word got around nonetheless. I found the audience I was looking for. Dunno if I would have had the same relaxed experience with a crowd who was bullied into the interaction.

anon here, excited to read the essay! i asked you because i really like your takes and i see people in the more canon-adjacent parts of the marauders fanbase to complain about the extremes of the fanon one, though personally ive never really seen anything Too extreme, tho thats probably just tantamount to how well i curate my spaces i suppose (ive seen people say that fanon makes remus really “alpha” or makes sirius “bimbofied” and while ive seen hints of those extremes here and there, mostly it looks like it varies from person to person. ive just seen remus be more assertive than he probably is in canon, or sirius being more dramatic and “fem” than he probably is in canon). from what i know people like exaggerating events (the prank, etc.) or shifting some personality traits, but i dont really think thats a bad thing - i personally enjoy it. as long as they dont completely turn characters into stereotypes (though its a pitfall of every fandom, i fear), then whatever its just camp.

people are allowed to criticize stuff like that though, not taking that away from anyone, i personally just dont really care enough to be totally accurate esp since this hyperfix is kind of the bottom of the barrel for me LMAO. but i ask mostly bc im just curious to see what other peoples opinions are, and bc i think - especially in a fanbase like this - that its incredibly important to be at least a little critical with your media experience and reflect on it. saying “oh fuck canon we’re just having fun” is fine and all, i dont think anyone is stopping you, i think the personalities people have made up for characters that have zero screen time are super fun and the little ships are not everyones tea but like its fine. but even still, people should be way more aware of what characters theyre dealing with and from what franchise, and like reflect on any biases you may have. if youre making shit up for a random DE character, or retconning some sutff, okay, whatever, but be sure to not defend or like suddenly turn to really weird rhetoric. idk i think its the bare minimum in a fanbase like this

hello anon, I'm sorry I lost your ask. I was writing on my laptop and saved the draft (but apparently had to press on alt, and didn't do it) so I basically lost your question and half of my initial response. Ty for sending in another ask!! Not a bother at all, i find this very lovely :D 

I was mortified to find that someone who isn't really a part of the fandom was perceiving me while I was complaining about fictional characters ahahaha. still, thank you for validating me and asking my thoughts on the mischaracterization of marauders!! I do talk about it daily, unfortunately, and without any prompt too. I'll try to gather all my thoughts here. I don't necessarily come across fanon as much as I did when I reentered the fandom and honestly, I can not be more with you about curating your space !! at the end of the day, I am just here to have fun, and really, pointing out these issues is not a good time at all! But I do post a lot about these, I can't be bothered to bottle up any thoughts lol.

I think the major issue I have with current interpretations is the underlying bigotry that comes along with it. There is a lot of unchecked problematic content that doesn't sit right with me.

Flanderizing characters in fandom interpretations is not limited to marauders fandom obviously. any popular media will face this because so many of us want to interact with one character so their traits are simplified for easier consumption and to find a common ground. this is also not limited to new marauders fandom. even in the older era, leather jacket-wearing, motorbike-driving quintessential bad boy siruis was a thing. so I won't nitpick on silly simplifications.

I just want to say that this isn't about me wanting everyone to have the same interpretations as I do about the canon. I follow so many lovely people and I don't agree with all of their posts. But, we all just simply share the love for these characters in the text and form an imaginary community. So, if we were to remove all the issues I will mention, it is still very well possible to have different personal takes.

Here are some of my issues:

Queerness, Gender roles, and misogyny:

My biggest problem is the representations of queer relationships. the fandom packages these couples in a strange and obvious heteronormative mold where the individuals fit into male and female gender roles. mlm and wlw are now an “f/m”* stereotype and characterization gets affected by the ships. Heterosexual relationships shouldn't have these limitations either, anyway. There is no one way to be a woman or a man. With queer relationships in particular, we have reclaimed the word queer now but it was used to describe the unconventional weirdness in the relationship. We didn't fit into the normal portrayal of a loving relationship. So, it really bothers me, even in fiction, that queer ships are popularly consumed in a way that represents a traditional template. (*this is not about gender itself but the gender roles! f/m can very well be queer!). 

Let's take the biggest victim in this fandom: sirius.

Sirius’ portrayal concerning his gender and sexuality has heavily changed his characterization in the fanon. We have a character who is popularly headcanonned as trans and is it a coincidence that all their traits have changed from the og material? Sirius is suddenly vain, whiny, and dumb. Canon doesn't suggest this interpretation, it has to have stemmed from somewhere. It's the implicit bias. Sirius becomes a caricature of what a woman “should be”. When we focus on sexuality, there is the suddenly short twink sirius who has the same new traits- proving the point of fulfilling gender roles. These characteristics are a stand-in for the “female” role of the traditional relationship and it becomes more clear in the example of new age wolfstar. Remus is now the big alpha stoic manly man- the obvious stand-in for the “male” role. I could go on, it is apparent in the way you can see remus becomes a caretaker and sirius is taken care of.

The point I am trying to make is not to discourage gender/sexuality hc. I love them, keep them coming. But, why is female sirius not tall suddenly? It is not inherently bad at all to have a feminine and masculine pairing! But why do we need to change the constitutions of these characters to consume their relationship?

I'll keep dropping disclaimers because I hate being misinterpreted: I don't obviously mean every single person is doing this or that doing one of the things means doing the other too. 

Race:

It is related to the point above. I was personally so excited to see the popular desi james hc. Even in fanon, I have never seen such a prevalent and encouraged brown rep, it was quite sweet to come back to that. But the problem is the change of characteristics that comes with race hc. Desi james is also a manly dude who is big and buff as opposed to the white petite and delicate regulus within jegulus ship. The melanin is directly proportional to the manliness here. 

This is a propagation of race stereotypes. Maybe jegulus was a bad example because usually there are seen as blank templates. I will raise the argument that this can't be all we can come up with for blank canvases then. Either way, my point about race still stands when you repeatedly design interracial queer relationships so they fall into heteronormative roles. Anyway, same issue with wolfstar when there is a brown remus.

Canon, JKR, and hypocrisy:

Refusing to engage with source material is funny when we are picking characters out of it. the interpretations of the characters will be from their book. otherwise, they are just original characters with the same name. you can add onto the traits and a lot of the time fandom comes to a consensus regarding a few things! This is common in every fandom but I don't think I have seen such reluctance to not only critically engage with media but also shame others who do. We are surely in special circumstances with this fandom but I really do think jkr and how we navigate the fanon should be two different things.

Most of us don't condone jkr or even remotely agree with any nonsense she spews on the daily. Most of us can see the problematic nature of even consuming this media and staying in this fandom. It is one of the reasons I even left the fandom. Most of us are simply doing our best to engage carefully while distancing ourselves from her. So, it is quite laughable when some love to take the moral high ground for rejecting canon while still engaging with the same characters. (the rejection of canon in question being sirius’ height, lol)

(Sirius' height is quite a polarising fact apparently. Unfortunately, the point about height is also discussed so disingenuously. When I talk about sirius’ height, it is not really about him being 6 or 7 feet. It will not really impact my life. It is about what it represents. He is bimbofied as he becomes short. It's an issue of "WHY" again.)

Of course, this isn't an accusation of intentional bigotry from everyone here. The problem with this fandom is that the people in it tell themselves that it is progressive and to run away from the problematic creator as much as possible. We are not progressive if all we do is co-opt queer and racially diverse identities on such a superficial level. The bias manifests in subtle forms. I just wish we check ourselves from time to time, that's all. 

There is a lot of hostility when we try to discuss issues in the fanon. Things are interpreted in the most misguided way to just win the argument. Like I said in the beginning, we all just want to have a good time. That also means creating a welcoming space for vulnerable groups (especially when the same identities are used to pat yourselves on the backs for inclusivity points). I didn't even cover everything btw, I just wrote about the issues that concern me. queer and poc also partake in biased representations, I also probably have some biases that I didn't identify yet. I just think it would be super neat if everyone tried to make an effort to unlearn and engage with media without hurting anyone. 

I have other issues but they are all just super subjective opinions and smth I can ignore when others do. ex: I really don't like giving tragic backstories to bigots in the story. Not every supremacist loser has a trauma that forced them into oppressing people! There is also "tropeyfication" of all major ships. Just an overall issue in the reading world I think, though.

Anon, I didn't mean to make it preachy in any way btw. You probably asked for a silly little rant and I went full lecture mode, so I apologize for the tone shift!! I mentioned these because every other issue can be brought down to these imo. Like you said, I also don't have any fixation on everything being canon-compliant. I only complain by asking about the thought process behind certain kinds of changes, if that makes sense! I hope this wasn't a drag really and you can see where I am coming from. I am so happy to see I have 1200 followers! Thank you so much everyone who got me here, old followers from when I first wrote The Wrong Way, to new followers with my Logan Howlett era, to everyone that know me from my main and followed me to dark fics! Words cannot express how much yall mean to me and how much the support I've gotten through the hard things means.

I want to do a celebration, but something that won't overwhelm me. I'm switching work stuff around, however, so I should have more time and be less exhausted and sad.

So I’m doing a fundraiser game!

The charity: I will be donating to my favorite charity, Smile Train. when I was 6, I saw an add for Smile Train and asked my mom if I could donate. My mom said we didn't have enough money to both donate, and do the yearly church fair, so I had to choose. Of course, I was 6 so I chose going to the fair. And I felt bad about that every since. So, my go to has always been Smile Train for charities ever since. When I was in middle school I saved every allowance for a year and did some extra chores to save enough for a whole surgery! Now, I'm not that ambitious this time bc I am in fact, poor. But I can set aside some for the needy. I considered doing Palestinian Children's Relief Fund, but I found out Smile Train actually partners with them so it works!

How it works: So, As y'all've probably noticed, I love music so much, that almost every title of a fic is either a song title or a song lyric. Sometimes I say it, sometimes I don't.

THROUGHOUT THE END OF NOVEMBER!

also sorry for sending you so many of these long ass asks but, speaking of snake traits, i personally headcanon that mitsuki's thing with food is actually a choice. because if i imagine what an autistic snake would have sensory difficulties with (and gee, is mitsuki ever an autistic snake), it would be food. snakes don't exactly chew things. and as an autistic human being who, myself, also usually avoids foods that require a lot of chewing, i of course am projecting hardcore. but i also see that as a possibility for him and hopefully someday i'll draw the process of tiny mitsuki being avoidant and orochimaru finding the best way to accommodate it haha

(i also headcanon that cabinet in mitsuki's rather barren apartment is mostly just like. nutritional supplements, that he probably takes with water. i mean he is still a living thing, even if his body can regenerate. the boy still needs, like, iron and calcium and whatever)

No need to apologize! I used to almost never get asks so this has actually been quite fun, plus this stuff is really interesting!

And omg Mitsuki avoiding food due to sensory issues would make so much sense! Especially since he probably started out receiving nutrients via his test tube tank, so when Orochimaru tried to switch him to food it would make sense if Mitsuki found that he didn't enjoy the process at all. so much chewing and then the weird sensation of feeling it move around in his body - no fun. This would also add a different context to Orochimaru's line when they see Mitsuki eating chips; "What made you start eating food?" If there was some medical reason that Mitsuki never ate food before, Orochimaru would likely express concern, so her instead being slightly surprised but not worried fits your headcanon much better!

I've thought the same thing about the supplements! I seem to recall shots of his apartment where we can see some pill containers, and those are likely both nutrients as well as other medicines to make sure his body remains stable (cloning is still pretty new after all, gotta make sure the babies are physically okay). Though if he's going to keep having his car friend come over, he really needs to make sure to put those in a safe place (my roommates cat can open cabinet doors and it's the worst XD)

"RAD CLASSMATES+NEW EXCHANGE STUDENTS WITH A HALF-BREED CHILD MC"

DEMYA (HALF-ORC)

Demya would be curious at the sight of half-orc child MC, having never seen an orc in her entire life, however she would feel admiration towards their race as they are prone to fighting, they would remind her in a certain sense of her own race (fauxsaeva) and she would like to discover more curiosities through half-orc child MC. Demya would coo over half-orc child MC's tusks, finding them adorable and would compare them with her thicker and pointer fangs, perfect for tearing meat, she would also be curious to see how half-orc child MC eats, so Demya would often share her snacks with them, only treats though, because her main and perhaps sometimes bloody meals could be too much for half-orc child MC. Furthermore, Demya would love to play fight with half-orc child MC, as they are quite powerful and resistant for their age, that way she wouldn't necessarily have to worry about risking harming them accidentally

DOMNRA/MOBIM (CAMBION)

Domnra wouldn't be too surprised by a cambion child MC, it's not that rare for a demon and a human to fall in love, hell he's seen it happen several times, both in Devildom and on Earth despite himself, so it would be logical to finally see, at least once, a demon half-breed appear. Domnra would feel some kind of connection to cambion child MC, both for their demonic side, a trait they would have in common, and in a certain sense for their feeling in half, given that his soul was literally split in half and then shared by two beings, i.e. Domnra and Mobim, while child MC is half-human and half-demon. Therefore Domnra would defend cambion child MC if someone bothered them regarding their lineage and would help cambion child MC to get more in tune with their demonic side, in short to control it. Mobim would sense cambion child MC's nature, but honestly for the little curse child MC could be anything and it would accept them either way, because that's what true family is supposed to do. In the end Mobim and cambion child MC would become good friends/sibilings

AZUL (HALF-FAE)

Azul would be genuinely surprised at the sight of a half-fae child MC, with features and appearance similar to those of a nymph or a fairy, aware that it's a rather rare and difficult race to come across, therefore he would show enthusiasm at the sight of them and probably he would ask half-fae child MC some questions, especially to check if some of their powers are similar or not. Considering that half-fae child MC would probably be very attached to nature, Azul would take them to lie down in some flowery meadows, a habit of when Azul was still an angel, while his familiars, blue morpho butterflies, would flutter around them, as if they were in a classic Disney movie. Azul would also let half-fae child MC experiment with painting, making nice portraits of each other, after all he would find their fae traits inspiring. Azul would try to find out if half-fae child MC had the ability of imposing their will and controlling other people by obtaining their names, because no matter how convenient and fun it might sound, it would still be a problem if such thing happened, so Azul would use himself as an example of bad influence, meaning that half-fae child MC should't try to mimic the bullshit or pranks he pulls off (but in his heart, Azul would be proud-)

ZURI (HALF-SIREN)

Zuri would be intrigued from a biological point of view by half-siren child MC, wanting to understand how such a union could have happened, given the significantly different anatomy, however she would do research on her own rather than asking half-siren child MC personally, after all Zuri wouldn't know their family situation or conception, it could be a sensitive topic. Zuri would also note that half-siren child MC would be a sea variant siren and not an air one similar to an harpy. Zuri would make sure to get either a small pool or a large water case in which half-siren child MC could swim to their heart's content and stay hydrated, perhaps also adding decorationd such as algae, pearls, shells and corals, to make ambience more pleasant and aquarium like. Zuri would aid half-siren child MC in taking care of their skin by moisturizing their scattered fish scales and help them use their powers responsibly, such as their siren song ability, similar to Zuri's hypnosis

ODON (HALF-ELDRITCH)

Odon is an ancient eldritch abomination, so much so that they don't exactly remember the circumstances of their birth or creation, so they have experienced many events during the course of their long life, however Odon would have to admit that it would be the first time they have ever encountered a half-eldritch, especially so young, so it would be a new pleasant experience for Odon to meet half-eldritch child MC and possibly become friends. Odon would find interesting that a human would even consider having a child with a eldritch horror, since they aren't exactly known for their friendliness, helpfulness, or parenting skills, in general it's not recommended for humans to deal with such entities, so Odon would find delightful knowing that there are other eldritch beings tame enough to consider forming such unions, at least they hope. Half-eldritch child MC wouldn't have to fear showing their eldritch side to Odon, because it would have no effect on them, moreover Odon would be able to worry less about their own form being seen, because as a half-eldritch, if child MC were to see Odon's face under their bangs, perhaps they would just get nausea or a headache. Odon would be a good mentor for half-eldritch child MC, teaching them how to control their most abominable side, they would allow half-eldritch child MC to have a friend with whom they can be their true self, after all Odon knows what it means to be alone

REMIEL (HALF-ANGEL)

Remiel would be aware of how rare it is to find half-angels like herself, since the Celestial Council usually does not approve such sins of creation and depending on whether or not those half-breed children disturb balance, they are mostly simply repudiated or directly abandoned to die to their fate, therefore at the sight of half-angel child MC, Remiel would be a little surprised and at the same time she would feel a certain bond with them on a deeper level, a soft of kinship. At the beginning probably both half-angel child MC and Remiel would analyze each other in silence with a curious gaze, tilting their heads from side to side like a lost puppy, over time though, considering that half-angel child MC has most likely suffered discrimination due to their heritage as well, they would quickly grow attached to Remiel and take shelter under her much larger feathery wings. During her long existence, Remiel has become numb to certain things, such as mocks or taunts, believing them to be true from a logical point of view, however half-angel child MC's case would be different from her situation and the angel of death would like them to feel safe for once, because it would be what they deserve. Being somber yet blunt, Remiel would have no problem softly explaining to upset conservative angels that since balance allowed half-angel child MC to be born, they have the right to exist. Remiel would help half-angel child MC with cleansing and preening their wings, taking care of their feathers with tender and soothing touch, in the meantime half-angel child MC would help Remiel understanding emotions better, perhaps the angel of death could even teach them to fly if they wished to learn, holding half-angel child MC by the hand, to prevent them from falling, Remiel wouldn't let that happen

NATHANIEL (HALF-DRAGON)

Nathaniel would be aware that there are different races and that crossbreeding can occasionally occur, however he would be surprised and intrigued by the compatibility between a human and a dragon, which would apparently result in draconic bloodline and half-dragon child MC's birth. Nathaniel would find dragons fascinating creatures, thinking of them as wise, honorable and free, therefore he would show interest in half-dragon child MC's dragon traits, such as wings, tail or horns, taking care they do not get hurt during the day, since they could be cumbersome while moving around, Nathaniel would also apply some herbal creams to half-dragon child MC's skin in the areas where their scales begin, such as cheeks or arms, to avoid skin irritation or dryness. One of the times Nathaniel would actually be caught off guard would be if half-dragon child MC, depending on their powers, risked burning, electrifying, or freezing his face off during a sneeze, which would then surprisingly make Nathaniel laugh

URIEL (DEMIGOD)

Uriel at the beginning, as a warrior angel serving the Celestial Realm, would be skeptical in believing in other deities, given that god (Father) is the only entity who she has always served and praised together with other angels, therefore she might not immediately believe demigod child MC, she would need proof of them being the offspring of a deity and a human, but once obtained, Uriel would be astonished, because it would go against what she was taught to believe. Once she comes to terms with the half-divine nature of child MC, Uriel would like to test demigod child MC's skills, their resilience and would be quite amazed and proud of what they are capable of accomplish. Uriel would then teach demigod child MC that with great power comes great responsibility and that they should only use their powers to seek justice and fight for the innocent. Moreover Uriel wouldn't tell demigod child MC, but due to her strict education and discipline, she might find the relationship between human and deity sacrilegious, still Uriel would try to overcome her prejudices for demigod child MC's sake

Alright, I'll admit, I have been ever so slightly expecting this kind of question, though I expected it to be more of anon hate, so I appreciate your civil approach.

I'll answer your second question first. I guess?? Idk like, I think the crimes of the child supercede the feelings of the parent. Y'know. Yeah it'd probably make her sad. That doesn't stop me from hating him lol. Also I think she would get it if I told her his crimes.

Okay pettiest reason out of the way before I start making points with evidence; you only get to kill him once and it's in 1 dlc. Like, all his crimes and no catharsis. It just annoys me. Okay, I'll try to go from smallest to biggest points now

All The Murder: this is a smaller point because, well. Everyone did murder in this game! He's not exactly special, except his reasoning for hurting people is just like. Fun. Which, whatever, I guess that can make a neat character, but it certainly paints him in a bad light next to the other characters, who kill for reasons such as literally not knowing murder is wrong because of what they've been taught since birth, being infected by the previously mentioned character, and because people are trying to kill them first.

Also his methods of torture are dumb 👎👎👎 sorry that's petty again but I just think his barn sucks.

Then there's the whole thing with his lab, and Eveline. Which, like, also just... Experimenting on a child is bad enough, but the fact that she's a childhood who already has trauma from being in a laboratory setting just makes it even worse to me.

It's like. Yeah, okay, you can make whatever assumption of this. Maybe he killed them, the second one's phrasing does feel similar to what Marguerite says about Clancy in relation to Lucas in one line in Bedroom, but like... Idk. Especially the college girls note like what else is that supposed to mean, genuinely, does anyone have a counter argument because I don't know

a/n: after like 3 weeks, i have found the inspiration to write. wow fun. this is more experimental writing and i don't know if this is honestly any good but if it is, it'd be cool to know

Nervousness bubbled inside you.

When your girlfriend - her hair drenched in the rain - brushed past you without a single word, not even a noise, and headed straight into her room, you couldn't help but feel a sense of dread wash over you as you hesitantly knocked on the door.

"Jihyo? Are you okay?"

Silence.

You knock again. "Jihyo?"

You hear rustling behind the door.

You go to knock again, "Ji-"

"What do you want?" Her voice is laced with venom, her eyes glaring at you.

"What's wrong?"

Jihyo grips the side of the wall, her knuckles turning a pale shade. Water begins to drip down her wet hair, her biting her lips tight as she brushed past you again, quickly walking to the front door.

You hear the door slam from beside you as your heart drops. She's doing it again. Pushing you away. And even though you were no stranger to it, it hurts even more each time.

"Where have you been, Jihyo?"

Her tone is dry as she sighs, dropping her shoulders, "Out."

"Out where?"

"I don't know? Some bar." She sits beside you on the couch, leaning into it as she rubbed her temples with her hands, "Does it matter?"

"Yes, Jihyo! It does because I'm worried about you!" You glance towards the clock on the wall, "It's 4 in the morning!"

Your eyes meet hers, them being filled with a deep ocean of shame and guilt, "And I... I don't need you to worry about me, I'm fine!" And the more you hear her voice, the more you can hear her drunken stupor. "I don't need you bothering me every time I come home!"

"Is... is that how you really see me?" You let out a wry, pain-filled chuckle, "A bother?"

As you began to stand up, you feel her grip on your hand, "Wait... I didn't mean that... You know that."

You shook her hand off easily, "Drunk words are sober thoughts, Jihyo."

You step out of your front door, feeling the rain pour against you, your shirt beginning to stick against your body. You see Jihyo and her slicked back hair walking down the street, her fists clenched.

Your dishevelled hair became glossy as your face felt the cold and wet rain pour against it; your eyes glazed in a layer of tears. "I don't deserve this, Jihyo! I don't deserve the shit you put me through and still I'm here! So can you just tell me what's wrong for once instead of shattering my heart?" Your voice died down into a hushed whisper against the feverent rain hitting the pavement. "Please?"

Jihyo bites her lips and turns around, the rainfall masking her bittersweet tears. Her smile is melancholic, her fists clenched tightly much like her teeth. She can see the feelings swimming around in those beautiful eyes of yours. It's the look of regret, that she knows all too well, and just a smidge of hopefulness that she doesn't understand why. Why of all people do you choose her?

She was the person who had the most chances to hurt you and she has taken every. Single. One. "Why...? Why... are you still here, Y/N? Why do you put up with me? Why do you stick around knowing I'll hurt you again over and over?"

"Jihyo... what the fuck is this?" Your voice is weak and tired. It's the way you sigh as you show her your phone capturing the night before. She's kissing someone.

And that someone isn't you.

"Y/N... I can explai-"

"I'm sure you can but will any of it make me feel better about this? This is the second time, Jihyo. And I'm... I'm not sure if I can do this anymore. I don't know if I'm stupid for staying and... I don't even know if you love me anymore"

"You don't mean that..."

"Then... please change my mind..."

"Is it not obvious? I love you! That's why I put up with it all!" Your throat begins to choke on your own emotions, the tears running freely down your cheeks.

And she knows.

Because she loves you too.

But this is the only love she knows. The love that hurts. The love that rips out your heart and leaves you alone. The love that hurts you regardless of what you might feel. The love that pushes people away.

The love that kills you.

"Fuck off, Jihyo! Why do you keep doing this to me? You say you'll do better! You say you'll change! But you can't even make it to... to our fucking anniversary?" Your voice is strained from all the tears you've shed as you breathe heavily over the phone.

"We had a schedule today, I swear I'll make it up to you! I'm so sor-"

"How do you make up for this? You promised me over and over that today was the most special day to you and... yet you can't even find the time? Fuck you."

The call ends.

"Let's..." her heart feels heavy, her throat beginning to feel dry. Her fists clenched together as she avoided your gaze, "Let's break up, Y/N."

"What? Ji-" she couldn't bear to hear this.

And so she doesn't let you speak.

"I don't... love you." Lie 1.

"You can look now!" You take off your blindfold as your ears gets blasted by airhorns and poppers, a big banner held up by your girlfriend's band members.

"Ji, what is this?"

"It's your birthday today, right?" She beams as she pulls out a bouquet of your favorite flowers from behind her, "You never told me but... I have my ways."

"What? You shouldn't have... It's really not that impor-"

"And to not celebrate my one and only's special day? I'm never doing that."

"Look at us here!" You laugh loudly as your head rests atop Jihyo's shoulders, you pointing to the page inside of the photobook. "Wasn't this your first rollercoaster?" She jests.

"Well, yeah... but look at your face! You look more terrified than me!"

"Okay... to be fair, the drop was like two hundred feet!"

You nudge her shoulder as you laugh even louder, her rolling her eyes playfully at you, "No? It was like fifty feet!"

Jihyo flips the next page of your photobook as you smile, her whispering as she rests her head on yours, "We can agree to disagree on that."

"You know I'm right though."

"And deep inside, even if you don't believe it now... I know you don't love me either." Lie 3.

"So... let's not do this anymore." But what she really wants to say is, You don't have to put up with me anymore.

"Ji... what is this?" Your lips turned into a tight smile as you glanced all around your shared home. Lights dangled across the roof, the fragrance of roses throughout the rooms.

"I said I'd make it up to you. This is for everything. All the important days I missed with you. All the stupid things I did." She stretches out her hand for you to take, which you do gladly, as she brings you along to the living room. The walls are lined with photos, memorabilia, and anything and everything the two of you shared in your time together.

Her eyes pool with tears as she stares at you, awestruck at the love and memories surrounding you, "I love you so much, Y/N."

And the dread on your face, the humility, the sorrow. It's insurmountable.

Your mouth is agape but nothing comes to life. Your words are lost in the rain as you stared at her with your bloodshot eyes. Your eyes are glassy as your lips purse tightly together, naturally to stop a cry from coming out as she stares at you.

And the moment she meets your gaze is the moment it all hits her.

She's lost you.

Truly lost you. And this wasn't like any stupid mistake she made before. This was the end.

There was no more hope in your eyes. There was no more love. There's nothing but the dark and looming shade of regret.

It's the regret of choosing her- loving her. It's the regret of putting up with all the stupid shit she did. It's the regret that you didn't leave sooner. It's the regret of ever giving her more chances.

And her regret was to not love you how she should've because now this love was killing her instead.

Want some professional looking stick/glue-on nails on a budget for yourself or someone else? Since I am still unemployed and my wife makes these stunning creations as art therapy, we're looking to sell them to keep us afloat and do things like buy food until I have a new job. (She already owned all the nail stuff.) So, if you want a set of truly gorgeous nails, take a look and contact me here or on that one chat app starting with a 'D' where I am also sl_walker.

Nails will be sent in a padded envelope with cardboard to protect them, though I might clip the longer color cards in two for mailing. Shipping is free to the continental US! (Though if you wanna toss me a couple bucks towards it, I won't turn you down. It's about 4.50 per package. LOL!) Probably you'll also get a handwritten note and maybe even a sketch from me. Several of these nail sets are three hours or more of work! And as you can see, they really are beautiful. Just ignore my very amateur photography, Tumblr's assholish image compression and the occasional cat hair. I promise I won't send any kitty dna with the nails! And you can also contact me and ask me for a set of pics emailed without compression.

As they're sold, I'll update this post by striking those through! And YES! SHE DOES CUSTOMS! (We just finished a set of Boba Fett nails and we're working on Maul ones!) If you want a custom color card (or loose nails once you know your sizes! I'll try to write the sizes on the color cards when I can see them), just contact me with a description and we'll let you know if she's able to do it. She can do cat meme nails, no joke. 1.) Autumn's Coming - $40

Stunning set of thirty nails, which means that you'll be able to find your exact size, but you might be able to wear a couple different sizes and have nails enough for two sets, too! Amidst the gorgeous fall-themed colors, you have cats eye magnetic metallic nails, plain color, blossom decals and a gorgeous coppery metallic crackle. They're shorter and with a blunt tip; in fact, I'm wearing a set right now, albeit in a different color theme.

2.) Good Omens - $30

This is a set of thirty nails. My wife's a huge fan of Sir Terry (sorry about the other guy) and so she came up with a Good Omens set! The red is metallic and magnetic cats eye with silver and white decals, while the white nails are themed in gold. I can definitely attest to how pretty these are, since she also made me a set of my own; I'm wearing them as I type (badly because I'm not used to wearing nails) and they're pretty enough for me to learn how to type with nail tips. LOL! She said to warn whoever bought them that she had to glue one back to the card. Sorry about that! It doesn't affect the nail itself.

3.) Thinking of Spring - $36

Another set of thirty, this time more spring-themed! With some popping magnetic metallic green cats eyes interpersed with some softer pink/orange metallic magnetic starbursts, cats eye and be-dazzled, you also have the lovely decals adorning the white nails, too. This is another beautiful set that reflects a similar quality to the autumn themed nails.

4.) Dusky - $26

A set of thirty, these are relatively simple by comparison: Done in a dusky metallic magnetic cats eye on one side and a brilliant, eyepopping holo on the other, they're classy and beautiful.

5.) Better Call Prince - $24

This fun set of twenty-four is absolutely sparkly; with metallic purple on one side and purple holo on the other, all of them also have holographic decals on them! They're busy, but if you're a redneck like me (or just really love sparkly things!) they'll make you oooh when you see them live!

6.) Pride - $18

This is a set of twenty-four. My wife actually made these for me, but they're too long for me. But boy, they sure are pretty. With the silver cats eye magnetic metallic on one side and the glittery rainbow on the other, this is a great set for you if you want something pretty with a relatively low price-tag!

7.) The Art of Subtlety - $18

This set of twenty-four is actually more gorgeous the brighter the light. All one set, all the same, these beautiful cats eyes in a sedate blue actually have a subtle holo effect on top of the loveliness that is that magnetic metallic polish; I wasn't able to capture it, but it's there! These are great for business people who like to have pretty nails to tap on a table top as illustration for their annoyance while still having that whimsical underlying hint of color.

8.) Slightly Better Than Business Casual - $16

This set of twenty-four is what my wife calls 'scratch and dent', not because they aren't pretty, but because there are a few minor flaws in the finish of the tips on the teal side. Despite that, they're a damn pretty set and will feed the cats for a few days!

9.) Where There's Smoke - $26

The first set of matte nails on offer! This set of thirty (eleven regular, three half-sizes) is three different shades of matte gray, one more silvery/metallic and two more literally smoke-colored. Perfect for someone looking for that bit of elegance, no reflective topcoat necessary!

10.) A Touch of Class - $34

This set of thirty includes three half-sizes on the end for better sizing! A gorgeous set of nails with white, decorated nails meeting silvery gold magnetic metallic meeting a gorgeous deep green glitter! This is a really lovely set, my cat Ajax really wanted to see them up close. LOL! You can't beat that endorsement. (But we're selling them anyway to help feed Ajax. XD)

11.) The Denver Mint - $30

Oh man, I actually gasped when Erin showed me these. Just the richness of the metallic silver and copper looks awesome in person offset by the plain beige nails interspersed through the set. This is another set of thirty that has the three half-sizes, too! A really lovely and elegant set of almond shaped nails.

12.) Please Forgive Ajax - $36

This is another stunning set, this time with printed decals and some custom hand-drawn art on them! Please ignore the stray cat hair, they will not come with; the culprit is sitting on my lap right now completely unashamed. But anyway, beyond those lovely green nails, the silvery-gold magnetic metallic nails will absolutely transfix you in the light. Heck, they transfix me and I can't even wear them. This set of thirty also includes the three half-sizes.

13.) Tropical Daydreams - $30

With the deep teal and the gold metallic and an almond shape, this set's sure to invoke the tropics; same as the others above, a set of thirty with three half-sizes! They're a relatively straight-forward set compared to the rest, but no less beautiful in person.

14.) Is Star Sapphire a Villain? - $34

If you're a DC Comics fan, you might giggle. But for everyone else, this particularly cute (and even conditionally chunky!) nail set is a lovely group of pink, dusky sorta violet, and actual violet magnetic metallic flake! So they're especially interesting in motion, and the bling on them are a whimsical kind of fun, too!

15.) The Spider-Gwen Special - $34

Protect Trans Kids. (Like my nephew!) And thank you, makers of the Spider-Verse, for having that poster on Gwen's wall and inspiring the name! Anyway, the theme of this set of thirty (no half-sizes on this card) is obvious; short nails, they'll look good and probably not interfere too much with typing! And the jewels are supercute, too.

16.) Cool Colored Chameleon - $40

THESE ARE SO DAMN COOL! Ahem. ANYWAY. Several of these are actually temperature-reactive! So, they change color with the temperature. Like a mood ring, kind of. They're also really super pretty in-person, not gonna lie. I can't tell you how many of the nail sets Erin shows me cause me to go O.O and oooh. This was a big one, I think I might have squealed. A set of thirty, with the three half-sizes, this one's just ridiculously fun.

17.) Pretty in Pink - $32

Another one of those sets with some breathtaking magnetic metallic, this time in a soft silvery pinkish color! Mixed with the flat nails and the occasional bit of bling, this delicately colored set nonetheless has enough flash and flare to make your average redneck (meaning me) happy. Hopefully they'd be able to make you happy, too!
