" I don't know what I'd do without you, love. I miss you so much, but I think I've got to get going. Celebratory dinner is impending. I'll try to call you again as soon as we're done!" Oscar said, blowing a kiss in your direction.
" And don't forget to ring your mom! Or she'll lock you out of the house the next time you try to come back home!" You added, returning hus gesture.
" At least I'll get to spend more time with you in your place then! I love you, I have to go now! " He said, you could tell he was in a rush now.
" Love you too, bye!" You said before hanging up and laying down on your couch. While your boyfriend celebrated his first win, you were in desperate need of a nap before the Piastri family rings your doorbell in a couple of hours to go celebrate Oscar's win as well.

Oscar dropped his suitcase at the door, and you climbed into bed, finding solace in each other's arms. As you drifted off to sleep, Oscar whispered, "I love you," and you knew that no matter the distance or time apart, your love for each other would always prevail.
The next morning, the two of you were awoken by the soft light filtering through the curtains. You stretched lazily, turning to find Oscar already watching you with a content smile.
"Good morning, love," he whispered, brushing a strand of hair from your face before one of his hands cupped your cheek gently.
"Good morning," you replied, smiling back. "I still can't believe you're here."

The day was spent in a joyous celebration with Oscar's family. Stories were shared, laughter echoed through the house, and the pride everyone felt for Oscar was palpable. As the evening drew to a close, you found a quiet moment with Oscar in the garden.

Panicking, you bolt up from bed, sprinting towards the door, stubbing your toe on a toy.
Inwardly cursing, you open the door to your shared bedroom, making your way into the hallway.
"Mommy! Wook at my dwawing!" Haru exclaimed, heterochromatic eyes shining as she shoved the paper in your face.
"Oh it's so pretty! Why don't you go show Daddy while Mommy goes to get your brothers ready?"
Haru smiled and ran away with a giggle, making her way to the kitchen.
Sighing, you made your way to your boys' room. Opening the door, you were surprised to see their beds empty.
"Taro, Riku~!" You call, walking towards the kitchen.
"We're in the entrance mom!" Taro calls, bringing you towards his voice.
"I'm sorry I woke up late, let's get ready quickly, and I'll buy you guys breakfast on the way there." You coo, stepping into the entrance of your home.
"But- we're not gonna be late. And we already ate!" Riku replied, popping his (h/c) head out to look at you.
"Hey mama, I already got everything handled, go get some more sleep." Dabi hummed, eyes soft as his head popped out as well, turquoise eyes soft as he smiled at you.
"You... You are amazing." You sigh, smiling up at your husband as he hummed, walking towards you.
"Well if you think I'm that amazing, you could always reward me with a kiss?" Touya smirked, leaning towards your lips teasingly.
Chuckling, you slowly closed the distance.
Right as your lips met your kiss was interrupted by your kids' squeals.
Haru was squealing in joy, always happy to see her parents show affection to one another.
Riku was disgusted, never wanting to see anybody receive any sort of affection besides what he got from both his beloved mommy and daddy.
And Taro- the only one who didn't squeal.
He was beet red.
He dreams of the day when he finds the perfect woman -much like his perfect mama- and has a family of his own.
He loves both of his parents. And strives to be the perfect husband and dad -like his daddy- and find the perfect wife -like his mama-.
You smiled as Riku wailed in despair, shaking Haru as she jumped up and down, Taro only staring at his parents in awe.
"Ri-ri, you'll give your sister a headache, quit that. Ru, you're gonna pass out if you don't calm down, and Ro, for the sake of your ma, you need to breathe." Touya sighed, a smile on his lips as he eyed his gorgeous mismatched children in adoration.
Taro, the seven year old eldest by forty three minutes.
He has crimson red hair resembling Touya's. He got his grandma's eyes, but also a splash of yours. Resulting in gorgeous steel gray eyes with a breathtaking splash of (e/c) around the pupils. His facial structure is most similar to Touya's, but he takes after your personality, attitude, and tendies.
Though it would be hard to tell by someone who's not close to your family due to his shy nature concealing it.
He's known for his respectful, peaceful, and polite nature. The calmer of the twins, and the least likely to cause any sort of problem.
Riku, the younger, rambunctious twin.
Riku has (h/c) hair and turquoise eyes. He looks almost exactly like his mum, and gets his fiery personality from his dad.
He's known as the trouble maker, but he does have his gentle moments.
And the four year old youngest, Haru.
Haru has crimson hair like her daddy and big brother. And, like her uncle Shoto, has two different eye colors. Her left eye is the same gorgeous color of her mama's, and her right eye is the same breathtaking turquoise as her dad's. She looks identical to her dad, and has a fun, very very bright personality.
She's known for her sweetness, creativity, and selflessness.
Touya was snapped out of his thoughts as Haru and Riku pulled at his sleeves, warning him that they'd be late if they didn't hurry.
Laughing he pecked you on the lips before following his darlings out the door, telling you that he'd be right back.

It was half an hour later when Touya walked back in, immediately finding his place on top of you as you laid on the couch.
"Oof- hey baby.. where's Haru?"
"She's at uncle Shoto's house. I thought we could use some alone time."
"Oh? And what are you planning on doing?"
Shifting his way so he could look you in the eyes, he wiggled his eyebrows at you.
"Guess."

Twelve minutes later you were laughing in the kitchen as Touya licked the brownie mix off of the side of your mouth, holding your waist to keep you steady.
"To-To-Touya!" You laugh, pushing your beloved back playfully.
"Hmm?" He asks, pulling you in for a chocolate tasting kiss.
"We need to finish these so we can have room for the cleaning, cuddles, and movie date." You breathe against his lips, making him groan.
"But you taste so good!" He wails in despair, falling against the fridge dramatically.
"Help me get these in the oven and I'll reward you with a kiss~." You coo, instantly seizing the pro's attention.

Two batches of brownies and one marathon of cleaning later, you and Touya were cuddled up on the couch, remote and brownies in hand.
"Oooh! Let's watch (f/m)!"
"UGHH~ we are xnotx watching that again!"
"Why not? It's a great movie."
"And we've seen it forty thousand and a bajilion times."
"You are xsox immature To."
"Am not."
"Are too."
"Am not."
"Are too."
"Am no-"
"This is exactly what I'm talking about!"
"You're doing it too~!"
"Fine! What movie do you want to watch?"
"Princess Bride."
"No way."
"And why not? Princess Buttercup~."
"Because we've seen it seventy thousand, bajilion times~!"

"I have no idea who you are talking about. You own no child here." Shoto stated, voice as monotone as ever.
"Umm what the fu- fudge! Fudge!" Touya growled, rubbing his side where you just elbowed him.
"Sho we need Haru." You smile, pinching Touya's arm playfully, causing him to yelp.
"Haru is mine now."
"Oh no she is not. Give me back our daughter." Touya growled, stepping close to the menace of a little brother he has.
"You do not have a dau-"
"Shoto dear.. give us our Haru or we will personally burn your favorite cold soba restaurant, all the others and all of the factories producing the ingredients and instant noodles." You smile, eyes holding an evil only a protective parent or lover could produce.
Shoto's face paled as he stepped inside, quickly returning with a sleeping Haru in his arms.
"I- I was kidding.. please don't burn my soba." Shoto pouted, usually monotone voice holding a certain fear.
".. we'll count this as a warning." You drawl, staring Shoto down meaningfully.
Slightly nodding, Shoto quickly closed his door, shivering at the thought of no soba.

Oh, hello
The Sibyl of Tydavnet was supposedly back home, and we finally have something to speculate upon, after a week-end with no news from both of Them (go figure). So much so that it's been very, very quiet in here:

This is, of course, a latergram, When being the important question, here. I have to say I was a bit surprised, after two hours of research (and cooking, but that is a separate story).
Let's unpack:
From 1974 to 2023, the Monaghan County Museum has been open and free to visit. Until 1981, in the old Courthouse building of Monaghan Town, then temporarily hosted by the Christian Brothers Secondary School, and since 1986 in this building on Hill Street:

On May 18th, 2023 (on International Museum Day), the venue was closed and the collections were planned to be moved at the new Monaghan Peace Campus:

The Peace Campus is a very important local initiative, funded by the City Council, the Irish Department of Rural and Community Development and the EU, via the Irish SEUPB (Special EU Programs Body - ironically, the counterpart of my new job, starting next Friday, LOL). It was inaugurated on May 10, 2024:

This is a very, very, VERY late latergram. My best guess would be anytime between May 2023 and most probably around June 2023. Simply because it would be logical that the clip shooting be completed with all the people involved at the same time, for logistical reasons, and before the packing of the exhibits would have started in earnest.

notes on "mr. snarl"
hello, hello, hello welcome to the mr. snarl is high camp discourse. i've been readin' and thinkin' and drivin' myself nuts over this, so i'll be blabberin' on for a good minute. bear with me.
before we dive into any discussion of camp, we ofcourse need to understand what camp is in the first place. camp as an idea is nearly impossible to neatly put down in a few words or a sentence. it has no definition as of such. camp is loud. camp is ostentatious. camp is exaggerated. camp is 'too much'. camp is gay. camp is ironic. camp is cheeky. drag is camp. marlene dietrich is camp. baroque art is camp. cher is camp. mommie dearest (1981) is camp. the rocky horror picture show (1975) is camp. dostoevsky is camp.
the girlies who get camp get it, those who don't, don't.
however we do have susan sontag's 1964 seminal essay 'notes on "camp"' from where most of our contemporary ideas and understanding of 'camp' comes from. in her essay, sontag noted 58 points on what camp is or might be. for our purposes in this post, we'll go by those. because it is the camp bible of course. and i am a pretentious bitch.

now before we get to the meat of the matter, a quick detour to discuss the many faces of alex turner.
alex's personas have now come to as closely associated to his image as an artist and public figure as blonde wigs are with dolly parton, i suppose. it even has its own section in alex's wiki page. he is one those performers to whom the "eras" concept can truly and perfectly apply. he is a different man on stage with every new album, each 'era' is unique from the other and distinctly defined. a new 'era' for alex is not only a change of a haircut or a new pallette, it is a total revamping of his mannerisms and performance style and public image. be it mr. schwarz (the car era), mark (tbhc era) or oliver tate sr. (early sias era), each one of his personas is another way in which he represents the themes of that album. understanding a persona is integral to understanding the album.
and alex admits to as such. each Performer is a fractured reflection of his own self, and of the album.
but. but. i do not think that he has always made use of the Performer, or atleast, tried to make perceivable distinctions between them. in the first three-four years of his career- during WPSIATWIN and FWN, he presented as just Some Guy. just another normal bloke from sheffield. which, you could argue, was the persona that fit the context of those albums, but i would say that he was probably not putting that much thought into it at the time. it isn't until TAOTU that we see alex using his on-stage fashion to project a certain kind of image that ties in with the music he's playing. (do i think it's miles' handiwork? yes.). the lil suits and ties and beatles-mop cuts, y'know.
the first distinct Performer appears during the Humbug era. the soft-spoken, brooding, fawn-mannered poet who is probably hiding a bagful of secrets and hang-ups behind those layers of brown curls- let's call her him aly. then we have the bright-eyed, puppy-smiled, deep-voiced loverboy of the early SIAS era. i propose to call him oliver tate sr. (after the guy from submarine (2010) obviously). then mr. snarl- we'll get to him later. the loud and theatrical and slutty and deliciously gay EYCTE era persona. then the melancholic space poet mark of TBH&C and finally the suave auteur of The Car- mr. schwarz.
mr. snarl is the one who has garnered the most fascination and endured the most in popular imagination. dare i say, AM-era alex turner is a lowkey late 2010s pop culture icon. it is very easy to understand why- the quiff, the leather jackets, the perpetual sunglasses, the biker boots, the LA drawl tinging his sheffield accent, the devil-may-care wantoness. the girlies on tiktok and pinterest aren't obsessed with him for nothing.
so, what makes mr. snarl camp? what am i yapping on about?
let's get back to sontag.

camp is artificial. camp is ironic. mr. snarl is too. he is a character. he is a mask. *cue the bourne identity and body paint*. 'artificial' does not imply fake or dishonest. we should be careful not to be quick in putting any value judgement onto this artificiality- the aritifice is a quality of camp. you can't appreciate camp, if you snigger at the artificial.

2. camp is character. mr. snarl is a character if there ever was one. extremely defined, visually and behaviourally- you see a performance and can immediately recognise the moment mr. snarl is peeking through. he is also very intensely one thing- very intensely masculine, very intensely rockabilly, very intensely rock god. he is 'instant character' as sontag puts it, which is why perhaps he so immediately and so firmly gripped our collective imagination.

3. camp is exaggerated. camp is style. do i even need to elaborate on this? Ben Beaumont-Thomas of The Guardian said it much better than i could- alex ironically "played with the role" of being a rockstar but simultaneously "can't help but be a real rock star." so, to put it in sontagian terms, he is not a rockstar but a "rock star"

the 2014 brit awards speech is the peak of this ironic, exaggerated performance i think. (i'm still waiting for someone to do a drag performance based on it).

4. but to me, what makes mr. snarl camp is his performance of gender. now let's get one thing clear- camp is not effeminate or queer behaviour. it is the "spirit of extravagance", so any kind of extravagant and ironic presentation of gender can be under the purview of camp.
this performance of gender is not the david bowie or marc bolan or brian molko kind, no. this performance of gender is much subtle, much more nuanced- he wasn't playing around with rigid definitions of gender or crossing gender lines. he wasn't trying to say something with it necessarily. i doubt even, if it was a purposeful thing that he was thinking of back then.
but mr. snarl is a performance of gender. it is a performance of masculinity. and the thing that makes it so very interesting is that it was a cis, straight man doing it.
[if y'all are interested, another interesting example is dolly parton + her persona + her performance of exaggerated femininity. for more on that i'll point you towards be kind rewind's video essay on her.]
mr. snarl was an image of a very certain kind of masculinity. 1950s, elvis presley, rockabilly, greasers, james dean- these are some of the pop culture touchstones that come to mind when we think of mr. snarl. he is also decidedly american. a "fictional character from america" as alex later put it. was this whole persona thing an effort to conquer america then? perhaps...but eh. there is no way i can conclusively say that. it certainly helped that cause. AM the album was very us-american in essence-- it drew from hiphop and r&b after all. the soundscape of the arctic monkeys was very much rooted in its northern british indie roots, and AM was the first one that was clearly not. and mr. snarl was just a visual reflection of that. mr. snarl was a certain kind of masculine in a way alex turner personas haven't been previously or since. he has always presented as conventionally masculine. even the humbug persona- him being my girlfriend notwithstanding- is not much different from the aesthetics of say, ray davies or mick jagger or george harrison back in the 60s and 70s. the slightly effeminate dramaticism of eycte is not exactly gender-bending as such.
but mr. snarl was hypermasculine. masculinity has had an interesting place in his lyrics up until they- they are both critical ('brianstorm' 'a certain romance') and fascinated ('jeweller's hand' 'catapult') of more aggressive masculine characteristics. (he does use a lot of very sexual but not necessarily erotic language to describe said masculinity- but that's another can of worms.) mr. snarl was in a way, alex being those characters from those songs he was writing about. mr. snarl also very aggressively straight. straight with a capital s. his songs in AM still had the self-abasing and submissive undertones to the narrator that love songs from humbug and sias, but much toned down. he was out there shouting out his girlfriend on stage. and who can forget the "ladiessssssss!" moment. he had models hanging off him in photoshoots.

you probably saw these photos and thought- "what the fuck?!" with a cackle. that is exactly what makes mr. snarl camp. the irony, the ridiculousness of it all.
5. i don't think alex was trying to be or do camp. camp is best when it is not intentional. i can even confidently wager alex would not take it as a compliment if i showed him this essay. a lot of very "serious" people look down upon camp as something lowbrow and tacky and unserious. but it isn't. i would go ahead and classify mr. snarl under naive camp- he is trying to be straightlaced and serious, but failing grandly, which makes it deliciously camp.

so. mr. snarl was an exaggerated representation of masculinity. in a sense, mr. snarl was basically drag. alex turner being "Alex Turner".

Edit (1/15 for timeline context): Real quick note since the article with a full breakdown of everything is out and stuff about Gaiman is trending again - this post (and the edit at the bottom, made back in July) is about how people initially reacted by tearing into each other, how there was a lot of unproductive infighting, and how in the face of uncertainty, people started swinging logical fallacies around.
I want to be very clear that there is no uncertainty at this point. There is now an absolute ton of evidence that Gaiman committed both assault and rape, and I want to put this here now just in case someone shows up with fuck all reading comprehension - this is not a place for you to argue some "see, we still don't KNOW" crap, because no, by now we have a damn clear picture of what happened, and it's horrifying.

Alright fuck it, maybe my two cents on this will be helpful to someone.
Content warning: this is about the Neil Gaiman thing.
I'm a victim of sexual harassment and assault, and I feel like my experiences would help explain my thoughts. And also, this is mostly stream-of-consciousness, so I guess y'all are getting some personal backstory on this one regardless, because I don't have the emotional bandwidth to polish this.
The first time, when I was harassed, I came forward. The guy who'd harassed me (and from what I learned later, I was damn lucky I happened to have the confidence to keep saying no despite repeated attempts at coercion) had assaulted other people, and this ended with his victims banding together to try to bring him to justice. We had an overwhelming pile of evidence, but the administration of our college kept dragging their feet, ignored their own policies, and eventually, after a grueling fight for justice that lasted long enough for him to assault another person who joined us, he finally got suspended. Conveniently, this was right when he was graduating and it wouldn't matter anyways, but we figured that at least we wouldn't have to deal with him at graduation - that is, until the school let him walk, and he used his chance to give a speech to misrepresent what had happened. I say all this to point out that the people with the power to actually convict someone of assault are often negligent, and as much as I want to say that I'll just wait and see what the investigation turns up, just because nothing comes of this doesn't mean it didn't happen.
BUT - and this is equally as important - that also doesn't mean it did. To my understanding, "always believe victims" means "don't presume someone is lying just because you think the person they're accusing isn't capable of causing harm." It means believing victims could be telling the truth when they come forward about trusted authority figures, or loved ones, or someone who's otherwise seemed perfectly nice. It means believing that assault CAN happen. This is where my second story comes in. A couple years ago, I was assaulted by a friend. I was too shaken to come forward, and scared enough that I just wanted to move on from the whole thing. A couple months later, though, I decided to tell a mutual friend what had happened, because I was worried if I didn't, she'd have the same thing happen to her. The important bit is that she didn't dismiss me just because this was a friend we were talking about, and she sat and listened and believed that they could be capable of hurting me. The point I’m trying to make here is that it is possible for someone to seem perfectly nice and not be, and doubly so with celebrities whose public persona is the only part of them we see. And when victims come forward, it’s not about necessarily accepting their claim as fact - it’s about understanding that you shouldn’t dismiss them on the grounds that the person they’re accusing would never do that, because you could be wrong.
The unfortunate fact of the matter is that you can't just wrap everything up with an easy conclusion. Anyone can lie - Neil Gaiman can lie, the two women who accused him of assault can lie, and hell, all three of them can lie to some degree at the same time. Is it eyebrow-raising that the source of the accusations is anti-BDSM (topically relevant since a lot of this centers around kinky sex, and whether Gaiman actually got consent to be that rough), and also affiliated with TERFs (who aren't exactly fans of Gaiman these days)? Yes. Would it be fucked up to just dismiss the claims because of that? Also yes. Then there's the bit where it's more likely for people to make false accusations against celebrities, but also, celebrities live in the weird ego-boosting microcosm that would make someone more prone to be a shitty person.
The bottom line is that we don't know anything for sure, and that is something we are going to have to live with and factor into how we make our decisions. Personally, I think I'll be able to appreciate collaborative stuff like Good Omens just on the basis that it's also Pratchett's work, and some of Gaiman's books hold a special place in my heart regardless of any personal feelings about him. But also, that may be subject to change, so who knows? Right now, I'm going to take a step back, and probably poke my head back in after a few months once the dust has settled and there's a bit more to go on (but as said, a lack of an official guilty verdict doesn't necessarily mean a definitive lack of assault, and we probably won’t get a clear answer here).
I'm seeing a lot of people either say that Gaiman for sure did commit assault, or for sure did not commit assault, and not back up either statement with any solid evidence, and quite frankly I think that's stupid and irresponsible. Uncertainty happens sometimes, and it sucks, and pretending like you can reach a definitive conclusion will not actually make the situation better. Instead, you just have to do the best you can with the information that you have, and try to make the most reasonable choices you can.
Edit: just to be clear, I'm not trying to express any particular stance on Gaiman himself - the most I've got there is it sounds like when I do delve down the rabbit hole more later on, I'll probably be disappointed in him. What I care about is that I'm seeing people reaffirm their stances with claims that someone quite literally couldn't lie (both in reference to Gaiman and the women who came forward), or citing the podcast's TERF affiliations as proof that nothing happened, or saying that Gaiman just gave off bad vibes, and that's proof he did do it. And like. That sort of rhetoric is what people point to when they want to discredit victims. That sort of rhetoric is how you wind up stumbling into having a bad take at some point and not being able to think critically about it. I'm more concerned about poking my head in here and seeing an absolute dumpster fire of shitty logic in every single stance than I am about whether or not an author whose stuff I've liked turns out to be a horrible person.
Also, re: the commenter who said he admitted coersion, that'd be super useful to know, but every source I've found in my short "okay what the fuck is going on" search says he's going full denial, so I'm gonna need a quote on that one. And to that end, that's exactly why I'm holding off on going down the rabbit hole, because I want to wait til there's a bit more coverage so I can get the story in one fell swoop rather than piecemeal. And also to that end, y'all are more than welcome to toss sources on here for me to check out at a later date, or for anyone else who might want them.

Bringing Them Breakfast In Bed (Brothers + Undateables)

When you walk in balancing the breakfast tray Lucifer is already sat up in bed checking his D.D.D for any important news from RAD, but his attention is quickly diverted to you. The spread you offer him? Buttered toast, two different types of jam in cute little decorative jars, a full wine glass, and a cup of tea.
"Wine in the morning? What do you take me for," he chuckles putting his phone down. Grinning you tell him that it's just grape juice to which he laughs and accepts the tray from you with a sincere thank you. Finds it incredibly endearing and can't stop smiling - calls you his good girl/boy with a wink. Will definitely put him in a good mood for the rest of the day.
MAMMON:
"For me? All of it? Really?"
Yup! He's flabbergasted, blinking stupidly with his mouth hanging open as his cheeks redden before eventually catching himself and clearing his throat, putting on his usual bravado.
"Well damn, I definitely deserve this huh, being the Great Mammon after all!" Cheeks are still red despite his demeanor change. Takes the tray and starts tucking in with gusto.
"Ya gonna help me with this right? Here, I'll feed ya a pancake look--"
He does, insisting on feeding it to you by hand and is a happy bubbly fella all morning. Why? Because his human pampered him and he feels s p e c i a l. (Because he is, of course.)
LEVIATHAN:
Shakes off his tiredness in an instant when he realises what you're handing him.
"Is this that Limited Edition Ruri-chan cereal!? WHOOOAAH!"
A million thank yous before he takes a million pictures to post on his social media (probably with cute captions like "I have the best gf/bf lololololol") and is loathe to eat it but it looks so good and ohhh man he's caved already and it IS good. You can't help but laugh at him as he eats it with his eyes closed, humming happily.
"I can't believe you got these. Just for me? Really? Like, the whole box, you don't want any at all?" Blushes reaaal hard once it dawns on him how difficult it must have been for you to get and that you made all the effort for him and him only.

SATAN:
"Ohh well well well, what have we here?" A smirk as you hand him his tray. Freezes when he sees what's on his plate and his cheeks redden quickly. You can't help but grin as he just stares. Cat pancakes. Cat-head shaped pancakes with syrupy faces.
"You okay there?"
"I....they're..." He clears his throat and blinks up at you.
"Cute right?" Your grin widens as he nods.
"I don't know if I can eat them..." At his mumbled confession you laugh and plop next to him on the bed, offering to feed them to him which has him blushing more. What can I say, sleepy morning bedhead Satan is easily flustered.
ASMODEUS:
"Oh darling this is amazing! But really all you had to do was show up nude and that would have been all the breakfast I need--"
"ASMO!"
He giggles and licks his lips at the delicious looking spread laid before him. "G A S P, is this GLITTERY JAM!?"
"Yes! Isn't it cool?"
Squeals and tucks in, rolling his eyes in his head. "Oh my gosh it tastes as good as it looks. This would make a good lipstick colour, we should go looking for one later." Uses it as an opportunity to gossip and get a few little flirtatious moves in before the day has even started. Dabbing jam on your nose just to lick it off making you snort with laughter and shove him away. 
BEELZEBUB:
Presented with a full English breakfast, a giant stack of pancakes, and orange juice - his eyes are the size of saucers as his pupils flick from the food to you.
"What's wrong, handsome?"
"I'm trying to decide what I want to eat more right now - the food or you." Because yes the poor sausage is overwhelmed and gets hard with excitement over all the deliciousness before him. Ends up shoving some egg in his gob followed by a pancake and half of the orange juice before pouncing on you. "Lemme love you!"
"BEEEL-!" He's grinning and smothering you with breakfasty smooches leaving you a giggling mess.
(Would want to finish his breakfast with you wrapped in his arms after because hugs and food are the best.)
BELPHEGOR:
"I've never seen you eat breakfast so I didn't know what to make you therefore I am serving myself," you say, gesturing to yourself with a flourish.
"Perfect." Instantly grabs you and starts biting and gnawing at you making you erupt in a fit of giggles and try to push him off. "Mmmm human, so delicious!" Keeps going, pinning you down and climbing on top.
"BELPHIE STOP THAT TICKLES." Evil grin plastered on his face, eventually ends the antics with a kiss on your nose. Then bites it.
"Just for future reference though, I love a good omelette. Make me one of those and I'm yours forever."
"You're not already mine forever?"
"No, you suck, make me an omelette." Collapses on top of you so you can't go and make one even if he wasn't just winding you up. 
DIAVOLO:
Has a massive grin on his face the moment you set foot in his room, getting even bigger when he sees you've brought food. You serve it professionally, pretending to be Barbatos and making him laugh. 
"Your breakfast, young Master."
"Ooo, my birthday must have come early? OH! Is that...a foam Cerberus in my coffee!?"
Devours everything eagerly, insisting on sharing with you no matter how much you protest. 
"Come now, you deserve to taste the fruit of your labours. It's wonderful!" Like a big kid, smothers you with kisses when he's done. "I'll have to think of a proper way to repay you..."
BARBATOS:
Completely taken by surprise - it was usually him that was serving meals after all and here you were up at an even earlier hour than him handing him a breakfast tray? Doesn't know what to say at first, eyes roaming over the food you'd prepared for him until he spots the little flower-shaped strawberries you'd cut for him - something he'd done for you once to cheer you up when you were sick. 
"Seeee," you say with a playful nudge as you settle next to him. "I've been learning."
"You have...this looks wonderful, thank you." He leans over to press a delicate kiss to your lips and you mumble a quiet you're welcome against them. The two of you share a rare moment of solitude chatting idly and enjoying each others' company before another busy day at the Palace begins.
SOLOMON:
Eyes you and the food warily. "You trying to poison me again?"
"Dude it was just gone-off milk it wouldn't have killed you. Also that was a whole year ago why are you still holding that against me?"
"Yeah well..." Sniffs it just to be sure then flashes you a playful smile. "I'm just messing. This looks really good - thanks."
Halfway through tucking in: "Y'know I'd offer to return the favour but you'd probably die so I won't bother."
"Yeah please don't," you laugh, resting your head on his shoulder. 
"Although....what if you were my breakfast next time? Worth a thought," he mused, tapping his spoon against his bottom lip as you rolled your eyes.
SIMEON:
Oh...this is awkward...
You both are bearing breakfast trays intended for the other, and you both burst into laughter before making your way to his room where you swap trays and tuck in. 
"I can't believe this..."
"We're too in tune with each other," Simeon smiles, sipping at his tea. 
"Yeah, I guess we are." The food was delicious - heavenly even and you found yourself closing your eyes from pleasure while eating it. "This is amazing, Sims."
"Glad you like it," he replied with a grin. "You've made these eggs perfectly."
"I'll have to make them for you more often."
"I'd like that a lot."
Simeon definitely tries feeding you at one point, laughing sweetly at your eagerness to take it from him.

Thoughts:
- fia didnt know k was coming to the gala nor was she supposed to come and was informed last minute so they added her seat right next to max because where else would she sit
- they broke up, she found out about the baby in brazil and got back together during Portugal summer vacay and thats when she told him because a) the wedding was before that (if my memory serves me right, she was in brazil alone, went back to Monaco and they left for Portugal after that) and she looked miserable during the wedding b) first pic of him holding her belly (insert pic of her holding his hand over it and a wine glass in her other hand at lunch) c) she kept going on and on about that vacation being the best and the happiest time ever
- he knew/knows he fucked up big time thats why he didnt tell his family right away (maybe he told them they broke up and didnt know how to explain why they got back together) and jos probably found out because max was acting too anxious or weird as if he's hiding something huge and thats how he knew, in the interview jos said that he knows max too well and felt it before he told him.
- the miracle baby stuff is bullshit mg is saying and making up since the baby was sent by a fate (🤮) to manipulate max to think that it's a sign they're meant to be or some narcissitic bullshit similar
- max wanted to have alone time with his mom and sister and explain everything (why he's informing them his gf is pregnant 6 months later to be more specific) and hoped he would fix their relationship but miss attention couldnt handle not being the center of attention and came unexpected and uninvited
- from the race day in qatar, I think vic and sophie realize and understand more than ever how much they're not in max's life anymore and won't be doing any effort moving forward+ I think Max also realizes how bad the situation is
- k was dying for people to know she's pregnant during the season but since max's family didnt know she couldnt do anything, in Qatar she rushed to go last minute since they now know, she came to the race, made sure the big gossip page posted about it so she can convince max to reveal it during the last week-end so she can have her moment of glory (i can imagine her saying sm like "omg people caught on we have to put it out there")
- max is pushing her to be more private (ever since the scandal with pov) and with the pregnancy thats why she's not posting as much as she did with p and she makes her friends post in advance so people will still talk about her and she posts later to act as if it's not her doing (yes im talking about the polaroids because how does someone post a nye story filled with "cute" couple pictures of her friend, like cmon be less obvious)
- i think he's on automode trying to figure out what to do with himself because bro looks lost, everything contradicts itself, the whole thing is a pr disaster and he knows he looks like a hypocrite
- prediction : she won't post the baby because thats "demure" and what celebs are doing aka hailey and gigi for example but I can see her either not being able to not do it or have her friends do it for her (and I think this might be the breaking point for Max in both scenarios)
YALL the situation is so messy and something is for sure going on behind the scenes. I'm trying to find a logical pov into the whole circus but it's HARD. I'll be back with more and i'd love to know what u guys think!

Coda, Coda, Coda-DD Episode 4
In this post, I asked TDers to be on the look out for the Easter Egg that's not really an Easter Egg which Gimple mentioned on the NYCC panel. It was unclear if he was saying it was in episode 4 or not, but if he did mean episode 4, he was clearly referring to the Coda symbols in this is episode. For a reference as what a Coda is and how it is connected to Beth and her return, here is a wonderful post by @twdmusicboxmystery
I found two coda symbols in the episode. Please let me know if anyone found others. Interestingly, there are other TD related symbols above each of the codas.
In the garage with Theo and the other older gentleman, I don't remember his name, the coda symbol is clearly reflected on the top of the car.

The fact that this coda symbol is literally a reflection on a CAR is like a neon sign for TDers. If Beth did survive by being left in a car, either in the backseat or the trunk, putting the coda symbol on the car would be a clear sign that Beth was "resurrected" from the car as TD believes. Above it is a car sign for a brand of car, these cars no longer sold in North American, with a Chevron pattern like the one in the gray sweater Beth wore during Coda.
Next, there is the coda painted on pillars at the Nest. Soon after Isabelle's Coda-like death, this appears clearly in the shot behind Losang. Above the coda is a compass rose. I won't go over the compass rose symbolism as many other TDers have written about it for years.

So what do these codas mean? If this is the "mythology" Gimple is referring to, why is he calling it out? We know he uses symbols of all kinds in every episode. So, why call out this symbol now? The obvious answer is that the episode is the second Coda and now we will be going back to the first coda and Beth will return. Another NYCC tidbit is that right before the question that elicited Gimple's "Easter Egg" response was a question about crossovers and cameos. Gimple and Zabel looked at each other, laughed, and Zabel said that they are working on something right now.
By the end of season one and now throughout season two of DD, they have clearly repeated parts seasons 4 and 5. Based on this, below is my conjecture as to when Beth will return.
There may be post credits scene that airs after the cable broadcast of 2x6 where we see that Beth is alive like we saw Morgan after 5x8 Coda.

2. It could mean that we are in middle of a replay, but the replay isn't complete. I did a post explaining how we have seen a replay of 5x01, 5x02, and 5x03 here. However, knowing how the rest of the season goes, I don't think we have seen the replay of these episodes yet.

Honestly, as disappointing as it may be, I think season 3 will be about replaying some of these episode before we get Beth.
I'll post more about it later, but we already have a S3 spoiler that during a celebration a military like vehicle pulls up. Then, a man was heard yelling, "They kidnapped my daughter." I believe they were filming episode 2. So, @galadrieljones I believe you were correct about the kidnapping. It's not Laurent but a new character in Spain. Assuming D and C go after the girl, and I am sure they will, that episode may be the replay of Consumed and/or Crossed.
Another confirmation from S3 spoilers is the train connection. Trains are mentioned strangely in a couple of places in episode 4 as @twdmusicboxmystery pointed out in her video. She predicted that we would see a train soon. Guess what? A BTS picture was posted of a yellow(the color of reunion) train being filmed in Spain.
I'll post all the BTS pics I have as soon as S2 is over. I mention all the things TD has been and continues to be right about to show that we should not be too upset if she doesn't show at the end of season 2. She will show soon. Judging by the replays, she will show by the end of season 3 at the latest. Hang in there! In the mean time, Bethyl has the BEST fanfiction writers to keep us entertained!
TD is right. All the signs and symbols point to Beth's return. She will return. Unfortunately, TPTB are not in as a much of hurry to get there as we are.

Welcome to Tarot 101 with Astrid! This is part 1 of my series. To keep each post as short as possible these will be bite sized. This part will explain the basic anatomy of the Tarot Deck and a brief explanation of its origin.

Let’s start with breaking down a tarot deck.
A tarot deck has 78 cards. It’s split into two big groups, the Major Arcana and the Minor Arcana.
➸ Although some styles of tarot decks may have additional cards that act as oracle cards, the following 78 cards are what are known as the complete Tarot deck.
The Major Arcana has 22 cards. Starting from 0: The Fool and ending with 21: The World.
The Minor Arcana has 56 cards, but it’s split into four smaller sections. These smaller sections are called “Suits”
The Suits are The Pentacles, The Wands, The Cups and The Swords. Each Suit has 14 cards. Starting with the Ace going to Ten, then we have a Page, Knight, Queen and King.
➸ If you’re familiar with Playing cards for poker or solitaire, the Minor Arcana in a Tarot deck is numbered just like the Playing cards, just that the “Suits” are different. In playing cards, there are clubs, spades, diamonds, and hearts. Now back to Tarot.

W h y s o m a n y c a r d s ?
The reason for the number of cards in a Tarot deck has to do with its history. Tarot is historically believed to have first been created as a secular Card Game in the 15th Century in Italy.
At the time card games had 52 cards. 4 Suits of 13 cards.
It’s thought that during the 1440’s, Tarot was created when the Duke of Milan asked an Artist to make a variation of the common card game. He asked to add cards to it and the artist Bonafacio Bembo added the 22 cards that make up today’s Major Arcana and added the Queens to the court cards of the Suits. Making each suit filled with 14 cards.
In conclusion, the 78 cards we have in today’s modern Tarot were made as a cure for boredom.
It’s important to note this because knowing the history of Tarot will help you in your journey when you decide how you will use Tarot in your practice.
I know some practitioners who think of Tarot as a sacred tool and they don’t like to leave any cards out while they shuffle and read cards.
I want to include this because I believe Tarot like any form of magic shouldn’t have fear of change attached to it. You should choose how to practice based on what resonates with you.
Some practitioners like to omit the major arcana or forgo the Minor Arcana in favor of using only 22 cards from the Major Arcana. Either way you practice is fine, just remember that the way you practice should bring you peace, not fear.
However you choose to practice Tarot, know that it is valid 🩷
Personally, I like to read with all 78 cards unless I’m using a Tarot Spread that calls for just one Arcana or Suit. I'll explain this more in depth in a later post!

So if you don’t have to read with all 78 cards in a Tarot Deck, why do they exist and why do some Readers use them all? What’s the difference?
Well, Tarot is a divination tool so it’s here to make it easier to hear your intuition or view a situation from a different perspective. Knowing this, each card has a unique meaning behind it. A definition assigned to it both historically, or over time as Tarot entered the occult.
Although the Major and Minor Arcana’s have different meanings there are similarities between some cards.
The 22 cards in the Major Arcana tell a big picture story of a protagonist— The Fool— who goes through life’s joys and complications. However, the 56 cards in the Minor Arcana tell the same story but on a much more detailed view.
I like to think of it as the Major Arcana is the bird’s eye view of a situation and the Minor Arcana is the situation under a microscope.
For example, let’s say you ask Where you need to focus your mental energy on at this time? Let’s say in two different readings you get two different cards. One from the Major Arcana and one from the Minor. From the Minor, You get the 8 of wands. This could be interpreted a lot of different ways but for the sake of this post we’ll say this means you should focus on the finishing touches needed in order for you to propel forward in your passionate adventure. Whether this is starting a business or asking out your crush. Now, in a separate reading, you ask the same question, you get The Chariot from the Major Arcana. This could translate into you need to take the reins of your life and just go for it, with less thought to the tiny things “We’ll figure out the details when we get there!” Both readings say the same thing but their advice is different.
One tells you to look at the big picture, this needs to get done the sooner the better, take the reins and have fun with it, we can worry about the details later. While the other warns you to think things through, work out the kinks in your plan but do it quickly so you don’t lose momentum.
This is why both Arcana’s are useful and this is why some readers read with all 78 cards. However, there are advantages to using just one Arcana or just one suit.
But how do you know when to do that? We’ll look into that in our next part 🩷 since this post is getting long.

So for Tokyo revengers I was thinking of this idea where its a Fem! Y/n with short hair and who yk a little bit tall. She's very close to Emma, so one night they go to the shrine where the gang meets up and they think that this "guy" is bothering Emma so they attack him but, here's the thing, Y/n isn't aggressive so she fights back only when necessary, so she doesn't really fight back, she just dodges really well, until Emma blurts out it's a girl not even a guy. and their js like ...fr?
Y/n is calm and rarely loses her temper or show any signs of outbursts or nothing, she's very neutral. She's constantly getting mistaken for a "pretty boy".
That's only the beginning because later on the story, EMMA IS ACTUALLY BEING STALKED, BUT SHE DON'T KNOW. She encounters some dangerous situation (I'll leave those to you) but Y/n saves her every single time. so near the ending of the story, they were going another gang meeting to tell Mikey what's been going on, so he can put a stop to it. THEN Y/N GETS HER HEAD SMACKED, I MEAN SOMEONE REALLY BOPS HER ASS and knocks her out. BUT, someone ( I was thinking mitsuyai) find her passed out near some random grassy area BUT SHE'S ALONE. EMMA GOT SNATCHED. So when Y/n wakes up and finds herself in the shrine (Mitsuya carried her there) AND EMMA IS NO WHERE TO BE FIND. SHE FLIPS THE FUCK OUT.
So lets js jump to Emma's POVS after she got snatched, so to summarize it basically, Emma accidently witnessed a murder crime and she's the only one that has proof (like a selfie or sum picture) but she doesn't realize it. SO THE KILLER GOES OUT FOR HER BEFORE SHE CAN REALIZE AND GO TO THE POLICE. so yeah,
Now this can't end like this, OBVIOUSLY
Y/n ends up finding where Emma is, so she goes by herself and BUSTS UP IN THERE AND BEATS HIM UP, Im talm about some real ass beating, like Y/n loses her calm nature. and Y/n saves Emma. So after, Y/n feels hella guilty bcs she couldn't keep Emma safe, and then Mitsuya comforts her and they kiss in the end.

you were just casually hanging out with emma near the river as you kick rocks while emma tells you about the gang her brother has. she tells you everything about it and how it was made. it really piqued your interest since you really love it when you discover new things about emma and her siblings.
emma was your very close friend, you two are inseparable, she was the bestfriend that you could ever ask for. she's always there for you whenever you need her and you're grateful for that of course, you pay her back by being there whenever she needs you too. you and emma always got each other's back.
“ oh i also almost forgot to tell you the gang will be gathering in the shrine tonight, you wanna come with me? ” you stopped kicking the rock you have been kicking as you looked at emma with your eyebrow raised. “ you don't have someone to come with you? ” you asked, emma’s shoulder dropping as a frown came into her face.
“ you don't wanna come with me? ” her question made you laugh as you put your hands on your hips. “ i’m coming with you, i can't leave you walking alone or something might happen to you. ” you answered her as she just smiled in reply.
the night arrives and someone knocks on your apartment, opening the door to see emma standing there ready to go when you're still not even ready. your hair disheveled, clothes still those comfortable shirts you always wear whenever you only stay at home.
“oh, you’re early. give me one minute” the [h/c] haired girl said and smiled quickly closing the door making emma sigh. “ you always do this, [y/n]! ” she shouted as she patiently waited for you to get out of your apartment.
you closed the door of your apartment and locked it double checking if it's actually locked. you can't risk losing another thing from your apartment.
“ finally, took you long enough and you're just wearing the outfit you had when we were hanging out earlier this afternoon.. ” she said and blinked as you just laughed.

the walk from the shrine didn't take that long but you were tired from walking as you whine about how the walk was so long and that you feel you're gonna collapse every time you take a step.
emma dismisses your exaggerated complaints and goes to where the gang is. everyone noticed that emma was walking towards them as they were about to wave at her when they noticed someone was following her, thinking that it was a guy bothering her again.
they quickly took action, of course. draken quickly pulling emma away, making you lift your head up and seeing that the members were about to launch at you, making your eyes wide like they have seen something they shouldn't have. your first instinct was to look for emma and you saw her with a tall man. he was hugging her but you couldn't careless at least she's not here.
the members were throwing punches and kicks at you, making you dodge all of them one by one. you were only dodging the attacks they throw at your way, blocking some of them if necessary.
emma was still a bit shock when draken had pulled her close to him as she needed to blink a few times before actually seeing the scene in front of her. she blinked a few times again to see if she's actually seeing was real.
the guys were trying to beat your ass up but here you are just avoiding and blocking their attacks as she remained from her position stunned. “ you know him? ” draken asked as emma looked at him with a confused look.
“ what? him? ” she asked in confusion. ” yeah, him. ” draken answered back making emma put her lips into a thin line.
“ she's a girl. ” she blurted loudly enough for the members to hear. as they freezed in there spot and slowly turned their heads to look at emma. “ she's a girl..? ” they all said in unison as emma could completely hear the confusion in their voices.
emma nodded. “ yeah, a girl.. i would never bring a man in here. ” she answered. “ what? i don't see a girl, i’m seeing a boy with feminine features here. ” a black haired boy said with sassiness, his eyebrows furrowed.
that made you raised your eyebrows and chuckle by how sassy his voice sounds.
“... yeah, stop talking now baji or you might embarrass yourself.. ” a blonde boy whispered at his bestfriend earning a smack from the head making him wince.
“ remember someone mistook you as a girl? yeah, you don't have a say in this. ” he said making him remember that someone had mistaken him as a girl once too. baji’s face turned into annoyance, smacking him in the head again as the two started bickering at each other, emma pulling you away from the group of guys sighing in relief.
“ thank god, i thought i would be dead by now. ” you said as you wiped fake tears from your eyes making emma roll her eyes. “ you always exaggerated those things! ” making you laugh when she said that.

everything went well except for when they tried to beat you up.. they apologise and that's enough for you knowing people mistake you as a boy well a pretty boy when they look at your face. sometimes people even doubt that you weren't a girl.
“ aren't they nice? ” emma strikes a conversation with you while you two walk back into your apartment. you shrugged your shoulders and nodded a bit. “ i guess? i still can't move on to the fact they tried to beat me up ” you said, slouching making emma snort as emma bid you a farewell when you both reached your apartment’s door as she walked away to go home.
you felt bad for making emma walk you from your apartment and making her walk alone in the night. you could've let her stay in your apartment for just the night but her stubborness isn't one to fight. she will keep insisting on going home alone that you caved in and let her walk you home.
opening the door from your apartment as it made a little sound but you closed it again as you looked back and shouted “ text me when you get home! ” as emma just gave you a thumbs up making you put your lips into a thin line and shrug, going inside quickly laying on the couch not even bothering to take your shoes off.

it's been a few weeks since the last gathering at the shrine and noticing emma has been looking pretty tired lately. ever since you and emma hang out with a few people around some bad thing happens, luckily you know how to defend for a little bit and buy some time for both of you to leave.
you asked emma about this but she had no idea what's going on too. “ you really didn't tell anyone that you're getting stalked? ” the [h/c] colored girl said as she put her lips into a thin line. ” yeah… but hey! i just told you? ” she said and smiled awkwardly at you making you facepalm as you can't help but sigh.
“be thankful i always tag along with you..” she mumbled and huffs, making emma stifle a giggle as you think of how to tell her brother mikey.
after that you couldn't help but keep thinking about what emma just said to you. there’s not many people in the park, no families, friends or kids playing in the wide park. only a few couples here and there having cute or sweet picnics in some areas.
emma stopped in front of a bench as she sat there, patting the left side of the bench signaling for you to sit so you did. “ this week is tiring! ” emma said as she sighed loudly, leaning back to rest her back on the bench. you can't blame her for saying that since she had been getting followed by some creeps.
“ it really is, you want some ice cream so your day isn't that bad? ”the [h/c] girl said as the wind blew, their hair swaying from the wind as emma nodded. “ ice cream can solve anything for us, so, yes i want ice cream. ”
laughing at her reply as you stand up from the bench, putting your hands in your jacket’s pocket. “ alright, i will buy some ice cream for us, you can rest there just wait for me. ” you said as emma thanked you.

you thanked the vendor as you gave her the money, walking away with two ice cream in hand as you tried to walk faster to not make the ice cream melt further.
“ one little bit of melted ice cream for you! ” you said and smiled sweetly at her, her ice cream kind of melted and got some on your hand. emma's yellow eyes look at the ice cream and on your face back and forth before accepting the ice cream.
“ you should wash your hand first. ” emma suggested making you agree as you left her again on the bench, going into the nearest bathroom to wash your hand.
you hummed, finished washing your hands as you shake your hands to dry it before leaving the bathroom.
you heard a scream, not the scream someone would do if they are playing tag freeze or something, your eyes widened the one who just screamed was familiar. it was emma! you were taking your sweet time in the bathroom washing your hands completely forgetting about emma being alone.
luck wasn't on your side today. where emma was sitting there's not that many people when you left and they had probably left the park. the only thought you have was you hoped she was safe back to where she was sitting but you couldn't see the familiar honey blonde hair you always see.
frantically looking around scanning your surroundings carefully. still not seeing your best friend. you were about to run to tell mikey but someone hit you in the head hard enough for you to get knocked out.
you let out a grunt as you did your best to look back to see whoever it was but as soon as you were about to look back your eyes felt droopy as you couldn't help but close them as you fell from the grass.

mitsuya was out in the park, walking to relax for a bit when he was nearing a certain field he could make out a figure laying on the ground as if unconscious. he was concerned for whoever was that as he quickly walked faster than before to check it out.
his eyes widened when he saw a familiar short haired girl. he was thinking that maybe you fell asleep here but emma was nowhere to be seen. that made him more worried as he quickly picked you up with ease. luckily mikey’s house was a bit near the park. (just imagine it 😞)
gently placing you down on the couch as mikey looked confused as to why you were unconscious in the park. “ did something happen? “ was the first thing that came out of his head when he saw you.
” what happened? ” mikey asked the lilac haired boy as he took a deep breath before answering him. “ i don't know, i was just strolling through the park when i saw her and emma wasn't with her. ” he couldn't believe what mitsuya told him as he looked at him “ what? what do you mean? “ he asked again, trying to see if he didn't just misheard him.
mitsuya sighed and explained everything to mikey hoping he understood since mikey just kept nodding his head when he was talking, thinking he's trying to process all of it. “ let’s wait for [name] to wake up then she can tell us everything. ” mitsuya nodded as he removed a few strands of your hair away from your face.
a few minutes later, you started to move as you squinted before opening your eyes. still feeling a bit of pain in the back of your head where you got hit by a metal or something. you groaned as you sit up, rubbing your forehead as if to lessen the headache you were feeling. a shadow covered the light was passing through the entrance as you looked up to see mitsuya and mikey standing.
“ hold up.. since when did i get here? ” you asked, completely confused as mitsuya chuckle. “ i carried you here since you were unconscious in the middle of the park and I didn't see emma around. where is she? ” the question completely made you sigh in disappointment.
you can't really hold it a secret now since emma is missing, you don't where she is so you told mikey and mitsuya about emma’s situation in the past week. noticing the change of mood and the silence was too awkward when you finished telling them.
“ i’ll find her. “ you said seriously, standing up to start searching for emma but mitsuya stopped you. “ be careful, alright? we'll tell the gang about this ” nodding at his words as you waved them goodbye before starting to search everywhere.
they probably hadn't hide somewhere far since you didn't notice any bikes or vehicles. that's when some randoms started talking about an abandoned house near the river and that there's probably dangerous people staying there.
[name] raised and eyebrow as she thanked them in her mind before running towards the opposite direction where you and emma would always hang out. that's supposed to be where they held emma captive. you were always curious about the abandoned house there but emma would always tell you to don't mind it so you didn't.
the place wasn't that heavily guarded since you're in front of the door in no time. taking a deep breath as you kicked the door open knowing that if you just knocked and tried to talk politely they wouldn't open it and just escape.
and there it was, you saw your best friend tied into a chair as you can't help but feel happy that she isn't hurt or there are wounds in her.
“ not so fast. ” someone said, throwing a knife directly at you making you dodge and backed away from emma not wanting for her to get involved. ” ah, you're that murderer huh. you're not good at it. ” you said putting a hand on your hip.
the murderer just raised an eyebrow and laugh. ” that's funny for you to say. i guess you're looking for a death wish here? ” that made you laugh out loud as you shook your head. “ you're the one wishing for death here. “ the [hair color] haired girl said with venom.
she felt angry but she doesn't know why. iko ( the murderer’s name let's just say that so I won't keep repeating the same words.. ) launches towards her as [name] tries to predict what will be his move. he wasn't even trying to hide what he's about to do as he grabbed a pocket knife from his pocket and runs pointing it at her.
it was pretty predictable, making you just stand there, jumping if he was too close before kicking him on the back while he fell on the ground, sliding a bit before [name] started beating him up, punching him here and there or even kicking him.
letting out a sigh as she stopped when she feels that he won't stand up as she walks from where emma was tied up and unties the ropes easily, emma hugging her tightly.
you hoped that the cops will be coming in this house or else, he might be on the loose again.
“ i’m glad you're alright!! “ emma said as the [hair color] haired girl raised an eyebrow as if she wasn't just the one who got kidnapped. “ girl, what? you're the one getting kidnapped here. ” emma laughed and released the hug as she smiled.
you both left that abandoned house as if nothing had happened there, quickly going back to their house, mikey sitting on the entrance looking like he was waiting for someone to arrive. you and emma weren't even that near in the house but mikey was outside quickly.
“ emma! ” mikey said, his voice filled with relief when he saw you with his sibling by your side. emma quickly runs into mikey’s arm hugging him tightly as a familiar lilac haired appeared behind mikey as he made his way to you.
“ we’re gonna let you two have time. ” mitsuya said as he grabbed your hand and intertwined it with his, his thumb rubbing at the back of your hand.

mitsuya drived to the beach as he dragged you in the sands, never letting your hand go as he sat on the sand while you did the same, leaning your head on his shoulder.
” i know it has been bothering you, tell me all about it. ” he said, as you sighed. you can't really hide what you're feeling when you're around him. he can read you like a book.
“ it's not bothering me. i could have kept her safe but i didn't even did that. it was a simple thing but i can't even do it properly. ” she explained, making mitsuya nod, feeling his head move up and down.
“ look at me, ” he said, making you sit straight back up and look at him. he was already looking at you. “ don’t worry about it, what's important is that emma is now safe. ” he added, you were about to say something but he stopped when he suddenly kissed you. it wasn't that long kiss but it felt long to you since you were taken a back.
he laughs at your cute reaction as he pinches your cheeks. “ you're so cute, you know that? ” you pouted at what he said as he just kept laughing.
maybe he was right, you should think too much about it now that emma is now safe.

Earlier today, I was looking for one of the background illustrations used in Radiant Dawn for one of my future posts. My research eventually led me to this topic on serenes forest.
I downloaded the folder and as I looked through all the pictures, I found a lot of things I have never seen nor heard of before.
I felt like this topic might interest some people so I'll share my discoveries here!

The CG of Ena holding a sending stone was probably going to be used in the final chapter of part 3 or the prologue of part 4.
Sephiran and Sanaki waving at the people of Begnion from a balcony is mentioned by Lekain in Endgame, but the illustration is not used in the game.
Lekain: "Even in the face of overtly unreasonable legislation, the two of you would stand on the balcony… A smile and a wave later, the people would cheer and go on with their happy lives."

Linear Orders

Today, I'll be talking- typing about linear orders, I'll abbreviate this to simply LO. These are mathematical structures that look like you can put them on a line :3
Here's what we'll do today:
In the introduction, I'll explain what a linear order is and I'll explain what ω, ζ, η and θ are.
In chapter II, I'll explain the category of linear orders: what morphisms are, what embeddings are, and I'll define a relation ≼ on LO's.
We'll look at arithmetic of linear orders and show some basic facts about them.
In chapter IV, we'll take a closer look at η and explore dense orders.
In chapter II part II, a.k.a chapter V, We'll look at automorphisms of some LO's. In particular, we'll take a closer look at Aut(ζ).

In this chapter, we'll look at the topology of LO's.
We'll end with connected orders. This hopefully completes the basic picture of the LO's introduced in chapter I.
I. Introduction
A linear order is a structure (A,≤) with a set A and a binary relation ≤ on A such that:
≤ is reflexive: x ≤ x for all x;
≤ is transitive: if x ≤ y and y ≤ z, then x ≤ z;
≤ is antisymmetric: if x ≤ y and y ≤ x, then x = y;
≤ is total: x ≤ y or y ≤ x for all x and y.
Intuitively, you can put all points of a linear order on a line, and one point x is less than another point y if it's to the left of it.
Let's look at some examples! For every finite number n, there is exactly one (up to isomorphism) linear order with n points. ω is the order type of ℕ. (An order type is basically what a structure looks like when only looking at the order.) ζ is the LO of ℤ, η is the order of ℚ and θ is that of ℝ. No one can really agree on what letter to use for ot(ℝ), I've also seen λ and ρ used, but I'll use θ throughout this blog-post. Here is a fun picture depicting these:

I call a linear order left-bounded if it has a smallest element, right-bounded if it has a greatest element, left-unbounded if it has no smallest element, right-unbounded if it has no greatest element, bounded if it's both left- and right-bounded and unbounded if it's both left- and right-unbounded.
We can see that 0 is unbounded, 1 is bounded, ω is left-bounded (0 is the smallest element) but right-unbounded (for every n ∈ ω, we have n + 1 > n) and ζ, η and θ are all unbounded.
Linear orders of any size exist. ω, ζ and η are all countable, meaning that we can enumerate the points of them in a list. However, θ is uncountable. You can read my blog post about cardinal numbers if you want to understand infinite sizes better.
II. Morphisms
A morphism from a linear order (A,≤A) to a linear order (B,≤B) is a function f: A → B such that, for all x,y ∈ A, if x ≤A y, then f(x) ≤B f(y). You can think of a morphism as a function that moves the points around, but never "swaps" the order of two points. Though it may not swap two points, it can put two points in the same place. For example, n ↦ ⌊n/2⌋ is a morphism from ω to itself.
In this category, 0 is the initial object and 1 is the terminal object. This means that, for any α, there is a unique morphism from 0 to α (the empty function), and a unique morphism from α to 1 (it sends every x ∈ α to the unique element of 1).
In category theory, a monomorphism is a morphism f: A → B such that, for any object C and any two g₁,g₂: C → A, if f ○ g₁ = f ○ g₂, then g₁ = g₂. This might seem complicated, but in the category of linear orders, this just means that f is injective. Equivalently, x ≤ y if and only if f(x) ≤ f(y). I'll monomorphisms embeddings from now on. Embeddings are a way one LO can sit inside another. I'll write f: α ↪ β to mean that f is an embedding from α into β.
An epimorphism is a morphism f: A → B such that, for any object C and any two g₁,g₂: B → C, if g₁ ○ f = g₂ ○ f, then g₁ = g₂. In LO, epimorphisms are exactly the surjective morphisms. Thus, f: α → β is an epimorphism if the image of f is β. I'll write f: α ↠ β to mean that f is an epimorphism.
An isomorphism is a morphism f: A → B for which there exists an inverse morphism f⁻¹: B → A s.t. f⁻¹ ○ f = id_A is the identity morphism on A and f ○ f⁻¹ = id_B is the identity morphism on B. In LO, this means that f is bijective. I'll write f: α ≅ β to mean that f is an isomorphism.
If there exists an isomorphism between α and β, then α and β are isomorphic. I'll treat isomorphic linear orders as the same linear order. Thus, I'll write α = β for ‘α and β are isomorphic’.
I'll write α ≼ β (‘α embeds into β’) to mean that there exists an embedding j: α ↪ β. We can see that ≼ is a pre-order:
≼ is reflexive: α ≼ α for all LO's α;
≼ is transitive: if α ≼ β and β ≼ γ, then α ≼ γ.
However, it is not antisymmetric or total. Try to find counterexamples to this! I.e., try to find some α and β so that α and β are not isomorphic, yet α embeds into β (α ≼ β) and β embeds into α (β ≼ α). And try to find γ and δ such that neither γ embeds into δ (γ ⋠ δ) nor δ embeds into γ (δ ⋠ γ).
Since ≼ is not antisymmetric, we can have α and β such that α ≼ β and β ≼ α, yet α ≠ β. α and β that embed into each other I'll call order equivalent, denoted α ≡ β. This means that they're sort-of equal, but not really.
If α ≼ β and β ⋠ α, then I'll write α ≺ β (this is not the same as α ≼ b ∧ α ≠ β). We have ω ≺ ζ ≺ η ≺ θ.
We'll look more at isomorphisms and automorphisms (isomorphisms f: α ≅ α from an object to itself) in chapter V.
III. Arithmetic

In this chapter, we'll look at the three basic operators *, + and × on linear orders. We'll start with the simplest one, *!
For a linear order α, α* is the dual order of α. α* has the same points as α, but the order is reversed: x ≤ y is true in α* iff y ≤ x is true in α.
We can see that if we reverse the order of any finite LO n, we'll just get n back. I.e. n* = n. Some infinite α are also equal to its dual, e.g. ζ* = ζ, η* = η and θ* = θ.
If we take the dual of the dual (thus, we flip α twice), we just get the same LO back. I.e. α** = α.
For two linear orders α = (A,≤A) and β = (B,≤B), we can add them together to create a new linear order (A,≤A) + (B,≤B) = (A+B,≤). A+B is the disjoint union of A and B, meaning that points in α+β are of the form (a,0) and (b,1) for a ∈ A and b ∈ B. We have the usual order of α and β in α+β: (x,0) ≤ (y,0) iff x ≤A y and (x,1) ≤ (y,1) iff x ≤B y. In α+β, everything in A is to the left of everything in β, thus (x,0) ≤ (y,1) for all x ∈ A and all y ∈ B.
You can view α+β as taking α and adjoining β to the right of it (or taking β and adjoining α to the left of it).
Here are some basic facts about addition:
0 is the identity for addition, i.e. α+0 = 0+α = α;
Addition is associative, i.e. (α+β)+γ = α+(β+γ) = α+β+γ;
α ≼ α+β and β ≼ α+β.
However, as it turns out, addition is not commutative! OwO Try to find α and β for which α+β ≠ β+α!
We can see that ζ = ω* + ω, 6+ω = ω, η+η = η and θ+θ ≠ θ, but θ+1+θ = θ.
We can see that addition interacts with duality in an interesting way: (α+β)* = β*+α*. Thus, taking the dual of a sum is the same as summing up the duals, but in reverse order :P.
The most complicated basic operation on linear orders is multiplication. For linear orders α = (A,≤A) and β = (B,≤B), points in αβ are pairs (a,b) of a point a in A and a point b in B. In αβ, (a,b) ≤ (c,d) iff b < d or [b = d and a ≤ c]. Intuitively, you take the order β and replace each point with a copy of α.
Multiplication is associative, (αβ)γ = α(βγ), * distributes over multiplication, (αβ)* = α* · β*, and multiplication is left-distributive over addition, α(β+γ) = αβ+αγ. Of course, you can try proving these basic facts if you want to. Just like addition, multiplication isn't commutative. Finding α and β for which αβ ≠ βα is left as an exercise. Here is something funny: although multiplication is left-distributive over addition, it isn't right distributive! Thus, for some α, β and γ, we have (α+β)γ ≠ αγ+βγ.
I'll often write α^n for α multiplied with itself n times. It isn't really possible to exponentiate with infinite linear order powers. If we have linear orders α and β, where β is infinite, we need some "center" or "zero" 0 ∈ α if we want to define α^β. If we have chosen such a 0, we can define α^β to be the order-type of finite support functions f from β to α, where ‘finite support’ means that {x ∈ β | f(x) ≠ 0} is finite ({x ∈ β | f(x) ≠ 0} is called the support of f). If we don't require f to have finite support, then lexicographical ordering might not be possible.
I'll stop talking about exponentiation and centers of linear orders now, so you can explore more of this on your own. There might also be different ways to exponentiate linear orders.
IV. Dense Orders
[Definition] A linear order α is dense iff for all x,y ∈ α, if x < y, then there is some z ∈ α so that x < z < y.
Thus, between any two points, there is another point. A dense order can alternatively be defined as an order in which every point is a limit point, we'll talk more about limit points and discrete orders in chapter VII.
Trivial examples of dense orders are 0 and 1. These are dense because there aren't enough points for them to have x < y somewhere, so they're vacuously dense. I'll call an order that isn't 0 or 1 a non-trivial linear order. Any finite LO beyond that (2, 3, 4, etc) isn't dense. ω and ζ also both aren't dense, while η and θ are dense. θ is a bit more than dense: it is connected, which I'll talk more about in chapter VIII.
In some way, η is the simplest (non-trivial) dense order, as it embeds into every other dense linear order. Simultaneously, it is the most complex countable order, as every countable order embeds into it. Both follow from the theorem below:
[Theorem] Every countable linear order embeds into every non-trivial dense linear order.
Please try to prove this theorem yourself before reading my proof.
[Proof] Let α be a countable linear order and let β be a dense linear order. And assume, without loss of generality, that β is unbounded: if β is left- and/or right-bounded, then we can simply cut off the ends, making it unbounded by our assumption that it is dense. By the assumption that α is countable, we have some enumeration a₀,a₁,a₂,... of points in α. We can define an embedding f: α ↪ β by induction. Basically, we put more and more points from α in β, making sure each time that they're in the right spot. First, let f(a₀) be any point in β. Suppose f(aₘ) is already defined for all m < n, we'll now define f(aₙ). We have the set L = {f(aₘ) | m < n; aₘ < aₙ} of points to the left of f(aₙ) (or, well, where f(aₙ) should be) and R = {f(aₘ) | m < n; aₘ > aₙ} of points to the right of where f(aₙ) should be. Since L is a finite set, it must have some maximal element l = max(L). And since R is finite as well, it has some minimal element r = min(R). If L is empty (and thus, l does not exist), we can take f(aₙ) to be some number below r, which exists as β is left-unbounded. Dually, if R is empty, we can take f(aₙ) > l. If both l and r exist, we can take f(aₙ) to be some point such that l < f(aₙ) < r, which exists as β is a dense order. ∎
Since η is countable, it embeds into every non-trivial dense order, and since η is dense, every countable order embeds into it. We thus have that all countably infinite dense orders are order equivalent. It turns out that η ≡ η+1 ≡ 1+η ≡ 1+η+1 are the only countably infinite dense linear orders, I leave a proof of this as an exercise to the reader.
I'll end this chapter with a list facts about how dense orders interact with arithmetic:
α is dense iff α* is dense.
α+β is dense iff α is dense, β is dense and at least one of the following holds: α is right-unbounded, or β is left-unbounded.
αβ is dense iff α is dense and [α is not bounded or β is dense].
These are all pretty easy exercises.
V. Automorphisms
In group theory, a group is a mathematical structure (G,·) with a set G and a binary operator · such that:
There is an identity element e ∈ G: e·x = x·e for all x ∈ G;
Every x ∈ G has a unique inverse x⁻¹ ∈ G, x·x⁻¹ = x⁻¹·x = e;
· is associative, i.e. (x·y)·z = x·(y·z) for all x,y,z ∈ G.
One type of group is an automorphism group. Given an object A, the automorphism group of A, denoted Aut(A), is the set of all automorphisms f: A ≅ A. In this group, we take morphism composition (written ○) as our binary operator. In this group, the identity element is the identity morphism and the inverse element is the inverse morphism.
The trivial group is the group with a single element, which is the identity element. I'll write the trivial group with a bold 1. Some linear orders have the trivial group as automorphism group, for example Aut(2) = Aut(ω) = Aut(ω2) = 1. There is no way to move the elements of ω around other then leaving them all where they started.
Some linear orders have a more interesting automorphism group. For example, Aut(ζ) = (ℤ,+) (the cyclic group of order infinity) and Aut(η) and Aut(θ) are kinda complicated.
To explain why Aut(ζ) = (ℤ,+): an automorphism of ζ shifts the elements to the left or right by some amount x. First shifting by x amount and then shifting by y is the same as shifting by x+y. We thus have that the automorphism group of ζ is the integers under addition.
The automorphism group of θ corresponds to strictly increasing continuous functions on the real number line. It has 𝔠 many elements. I don't know if this group has been researched a lot, tell me if you find anything interesting about it!
One natural question to ask is: what groups can be the automorphism group of a linear order?
I'll give you part of the answer to this question. A subgroup of a group (G,·) is a set H ⊂ G such that (H,·) is itself a group: the identity element of G must be in H, the inverse element of any x ∈ H must be in H and, for any two x,y ∈ H, we have x·y ∈ H. Given a set X ⊂ G, we write ⟨X⟩ for the subgroup of G generated by X. This is the smallest subgroup of G that includes X. Given a single element a ∈ G, we can also have ⟨a⟩, which is the smallest subgroup of G that contains a. If a = e is the identity element, then ⟨e⟩ = {e} is just the trivial subgroup. For other a, we have ⟨a⟩ = {..., a⁻², a⁻¹, e, a, a², ...}. In group theory, we often write a^n for a · ... · a w/ n copies of a. We might have something like a³ = e, in which case, {..., a⁻², a⁻¹, e, a, a², ...} = {e, a, a²}. However, we can also have a, a², a³, a⁴, etc, be all different elements of G. In which case, we have ⟨a⟩ ≅ (ℤ,+)
It turns out that, in the automorphism groups of linear orders, if f ∈ Aut(α) is an automorphism that is not the identity, then ⟨f⟩ must be isomorphic to (ℤ,+). We can see this pretty easily: if f moves some x ∈ α to the right, i.e. f(x) > x, then it must also move f(x) to the right, and f(f(x)) = f²(x), and f³(x), etc. Meaning that f(..f(x)..), no matter how many applications of f you have, can never be x again. Thus, f, f², f³, f⁴, etc, must all be different automorphisms. This is only one restriction groups induced by linear orders must have, and I'm sure you can find more.
(ℤ,+) is in some sense the simplest non-trivial group that can be induced by a linear order. There are a lot of linear orders that induce (ℤ,+) (that have (ℤ,+) as automorphism groups). As mentioned above, Aut(ζ) = (ℤ,+), but this is also the automorphism group of ω+ζ, ζ+2, etc.
In the same way that η is the simplest dense LO, ζ is the simplest order with a non-trivial automorphism group:
[Theorem] ζ embeds into every linear order with a non-trivial automogrphism group.
Unlike η, where η+ω, 1+η+1, etc, also all embed into all dense LO's (and all dense LO's embed into them), ζ is the unique simplest linear order with a non-trivial automorphism group:
[Theorem] If α has a non-trivial automorphis group and embeds into every linear order with a non-trivial automorphism group, then α = ζ.
Another fun fact: we know when a linear order has a non-trivial automorphism group when ζ embeds into that LO.
[Theorem] ζ embeds into α iff α has a non-trivial automorphism group.
Proofs of these theorems are left as an exercise.
VI. Ordinal Numbers
In mathematics, a well order is a specific kind of linear order. A LO (A,≤) is defined to be a well-order if:
For all non-empty S ⊂ A, S has some minimal element x, i.e. for all y in S, we have x ≤ y.
Every finite LO n is a well order. ω is a well order as well but, e.g., ζ is not well-ordered: ℤ⁻ ⊂ ζ, the set of negative integers, does not have a least element. Order types of well orders are called ordinals. They are an important concept in set theory as they describe the heights of trees and sets, and because of transfinite induction.
[Theorem] For a linear order α, the following are equivalent:
α is an ordinal;
every strictly decreasing sequence in α is finite;
ω* does not embed into α.
[Definition] A set X ⊂ α is inductive if for all x ∈ α, if for all y < x, we have y ∈ X, then we have x ∈ X as well.
Ex. The set of all rational numbers below the square root of 2 is inductive in η.
[Theorem] If α is an ordinal and X ⊂ α is inductive, then X = α.
Both of these theorems are left as an exercise to the reader.
Ordinals have a lot of nice properties. For example, α+β and αβ for any two ordinals α and β are ordinals as well. Also, every infinite ordinal has a smallest element, which we can take as our center in exponentiation, meaning that ordinal exponentiation is well-defined. We also have that ≼ is itself a well-order on ordinals:
≼ is antisymmetric on ordinals: if α and β are ordinals, α ≼ β and β ≼ α, then α = β;
≼ is total on ordinals: for ordinals α and β, we have α ≼ β or β ≼ α;
≼ is well-founded: all sets of ordinals have a ≼-minimal element.
This means that the theorem of induction (X is inductive → X = α) also applies to Ord, the class of ordinals. We can also view each point in an ordinal as its own ordinal: for x ∈ α, we can define (x) = {y ∈ α | y < x}, and this set with the usual order of α is an ordinal (x) < α.
A von Neumann ordinal is a specific representation of an ordinal. It is a transitive set of transitive sets. For von Neumann ordinals α and β, α < β is defined as α ∈ β. Von Neumann ordinals are often used in set theory.
Given a set of ordinals S, the supremum of S, written sup(S), is the smallest ordinal α so that β ≤ α for all β ∈ S.
Here are some more examples of ordinals:
ε₀ (epsilon-nought) is defined as the smallest ordinal for which ε₀ = ω^ε₀;
ω₁ck (Church-Kleene ordinal) is defined as the smallest ordinal for which there is no Turing machine that defines an order that is isomorphic to ω₁ck;
ω₁ is defined as the smallest uncountable ordinal.
[Definition] Given a linear order α and a set S ⊂ α, S is cofinal in α iff for all x ∈ α, there is some y ∈ S so that x ≤ y. The cofinality of α, written cof(α) or cf(α), is the smallest cardinality (i.e. size) of a cofinal subset S ⊂ α.
For example, cf(0) = 0, cf(1) = cf(α+1) = 1 and cf(ω) = cf(ζ) = cf(η) = cf(θ) = ℵ₀. ω₁ has uncountable cofinality (it has cofinality ℵ₁), meaning that, for all countable subsets S ⊂ ω₁, there is some y ∈ ω₁ so that x < y for all x ∈ S. If it'd've'd countable cofinality, then we could take some countable cofinal S ⊂ ω₁ and some enumeration aₙ of S. Then, because ω₁ is the smallest uncountable ordinal, each ordinal (aₙ) must be countable. Thus, we can take injections fₙ: (aₙ) → ℵ₀. But then we can define an injection g: ω₁ → ℵ₀² by setting g(x) = (fₙ(x),n) for the smallest n for which x < aₙ. However, everyone knows that ℵ₀² = ℵ₀, so we have an injection g: ω₁ → ℵ₀ witnessing ω₁ is countable, thus a contradiction.

VII. Topology
It's midnight. Technically the next day.
In maphs, a topology is defined as a structure (X,τ) with a set of points X and a family τ ⊂ P(X) of subsets of X, such that:
The union of any number of sets in τ is in τ;
The intersection of any finite number of sets in τ is in τ.
The empty union is the empty set and the empty intersection is the full space X itself, so ∅ and X must both be in τ. In a topology, members of τ are called open sets. A set is closed if its complement is open. It is clopen if it's both open and closed. We can see that ∅ and X are always clopen.
Every linear order has an order topology. Given a linear order α and some point x ∈ α, (-∞,x) = {y ∈ α | y < x} is the set of points below x and (x,∞) = {y ∈ α | x < y} is the set of points above x. For x,z ∈ α with x < z, (x,z) = (x,∞) ∩ (-∞,z) = {y ∈ α | x < y < z} is the set of points between x and z. (x,z) is called the open interval from x to z. A set in the order topology on α is open iff it is a union of open intervals. You can verify that this indeed defines a topology. Another equivalent definition is: O ⊂ α is open iff ∀y ∈ O ∃x,z ∈ α ∪ {-∞,∞} x < z ∧ (x,z) ⊂ O.
A topological space in which every set is an open set is called a discrete space. A discrete space can alternatively be defined as a topology where every singleton (every set with a single element) is open. A limit point is a point x ∈ X for which {x} is not open. A discrete space thus is a space with no limit points. A limit point in a linear order α is a point x for which (1) for all y < x, there is some z < x so that y < z, or (2) for all y > x, there is some z > x so that z < y, the reader may verify that this is correct.
The order topology of any finite LO is discrete. ω and ζ both also have a discrete topology. However, the topology of η and θ are not discrete. In fact, η and θ are dense linear orders: all points in η and θ are limit points. ω+1 is neither discrete nor dense: it only has one limit point. (Assuming the axiom of choice) a discrete linear order of any size exists, a proof of this is left as an exercise to the reader.
In topology, a dense set (not to be confused with dense orders) is some set D for which, for all non-empty open O, D ∩ O is non-empty. For example, the set of rationals is dense in θ, while the set of integers is not (it does not intersect the open set (2.6, 2.74) ∪ (12.2, 12.2002)). Equivalently, D is dense iff D¯, the closure of D, is the whole space X. The closure of a set A is defined as the (inclussion-)smallest closed set that includes A, i.e. A¯ = ⋂{C | A ⊂ C ∧ C is closed} = {x | ∀O O is open ∧ A ⊂ O → x ∈ O}. I'll say a LO α is dense in another LO β if there is an embedding f: α ↪ β for which its range is dense in β. For example, η is dense in θ but not in θω₁. Usually, the bar is placed on top of the set A to denote its closure, but I can't do that here, so I'll write it next to it instead :P
For a set A, the interior of A, denoted int(A), is the largest open set included in A. I.e. int(A) = ⋃{O | O ⊂ A ∧ O is open} = {x | ∃O O is open ∧ O ⊂ A ∧ x ∈ O}. int(A^c) = (A^c)¯.
In topology, we often talk about local properties of a space. Given some point x in a topological space, a neighboorhood of x is a set U that includes an open set that contains x. Thus, x ∈ O ⊂ U for some open O. Given some A ⊂ X, we can define a topology on A as follows: τ_A = {O ∩ A | O ∈ τ_X}. (A,τ_A) is a subspace of (X,τ_X). A topological space (X,τ) has a property P locally iff for every point x ∈ X, there is some neighboorhood U of x with that property P. For example, αβ is locally isomorphic to α and ω is locally compact.
For two points x and y in a topological space (X,τ), I say x and y are connected if there is no clopen set A so that x ∈ A and y ∉ A. Equivalently, there are no open U and V such that x ∈ U, y ∈ V, U ∩ V = ∅ and U ∪ V = X. Trivially, every point is connected to itself. A topology is connected if all points in the topology are pairwise connected. It is completely disconnected if no two distinct points are connected. In a linear order α, two points x < y are connected if there is no "gap" between x and y. η is completely disconnected, as between any two rational numbers, there is an irrational. However, θ is connected. The reader can verify that a linear order is locally connected iff every limit point is connected to some other point.
A topology is compact if every open cover (that is, every family of open sets F such that ⋃F is the whole space) has a finite subcover (some finite F₀ ⊂ F that still covers the space). Every finite space is compact as the only open covers are already finite. ω + ω* is not compact as {{x} | x ∈ ω + ω*} is an open cover with no finite subcover, but ω + 1 + ω* is compact as any open set that includes the middle element (which I'll call ‘X’) must also include (n,X) and (X,m) for some finite n and m. Intuitively, a compact space is bounded and has no small gaps.
VIII. Connected Orders
Intuitively, a connected order is a linear order with no gaps or holes. Thus, θ is connected, but η is not as every irrational number forms a hole. In other words, it is very dense (the densetest it can be). 0 and 1 are trivial connected orders. The simplest non-trivial case is θ, as it embeds into every other connected linear order.
[Theorem] If α is a non-trivial connected LO, then θ ≼ α.
θ+1, 1+θ and 1+θ+1 are also connected linear orders with this property (thus, like with the η case, we have θ ≡ 1+θ ≡ θ+1 ≡ 1+θ+1). θ+1+θ = θ, however, θ2 ≠ θ as θ2 has a disconnect between the first and second copy of θ.
Not every non-trivial connected LO is order-equivalent to θ. For example, the long line, (1+θ)ω₁, is a connected linear order that is too long to be squashed into θ. The reader can verify that (1+θ)ω₁ ⋠ θ. Sometimes, (1+θ)ω₁ is referred to as the right side of the long line, ((1+θ)ω₁)* = (θ+1)ω₁* is the left side and the full long line is made by gluing the left and right side together, removing the greatest element of the left side to make it connected. The long line can also refer to the right side of the long line, with the least element removed to make it unbounded. I'll use "long line" to refer to the last one from now on.
If α is an infinite countable ordinal, then (1+θ)α = 1+θ. If α > ω₁, then (1+θ)α with the smallest point removed is no longer a homogeneous linear order (I call an LO α homogeneous iff ∀x,y ∈ α ∃f ∈ Aut(α) f(x) = y). ω₁ is thus purrfect for making a long line.
Here is a funni connected order I came up with: (1+θ+1)θ.
Here are some theorems that state more generally how arithmetic works with connected linear orders:
α+β is connected iff α is connected, β is connected, and either α is right-bounded and β is left-unbounded, or α is right-unbounded and β is left-bounded;
α* is connected iff α is connnected;
For unbounded α, αβ is connected iff α is connected and [β = 0 or β = 1];
For bounded α, αβ is connected iff α and β are connected;
For left-bounded right-unbounded α, αβ is connected iff α is connected, every S ⊂ β with an upper bound has a supremum (least upper bound), and every point x ∈ β has a direct next point y ∈ β (∄z ∈ β x < z < y).
I like the last one :3 You can try proving these theorems if you want to.
