As she slowly started to approach the Zoo, Y/n put away her headphones into her tote bag, making sure to turn them off before putting them away. She quickly checked that she looked good and that her outfit was okay before walking through the black gates that were the entrence of the Zoo.

"Y/n, hey!" a voice called out as she was immidetly spotted entering through the gates. It was Tobi who greeted her first, a wide smile on his face as he waved at her. She waved back, greeting him as well Josh, Ethan and the crew members too. "How are you guys?" the brunette asked as she approached them with a shy smile.

"Pretty good, you?" Josh replied as he finished adjusting his mic. "Good, thank you," she answered. "Oi, you! Did you really make another song without telling anyone, again? Faith has been blowing up my phone for the last hour you crazy woman," Ethan spoke up as he looked at her. Y/n only let out a small laugh at his question and statement, a sly grin on her face. "Y/n, again?" Tobi asked with a slightly suprised and curious look. "Mm, I don't know boys. I'm sure you'll be able to find out in a few days." was the only responce the brunette offored, trying not to laugh quietly. She wasn't a famous singer by any means, like Talia or JJ but she did like to write music from time to time. So far she released 4 songs, but without telling anyone she knew that she's releasing a song it would always suprise them.

"Oh for fucks sake," Ethan groaned before contnuing; "I swear Faith will murder you one day I swear," at that Y/n let out a slightly suprised laugh. The four of them continued to talk and with time, more people came; Harry, Vik, Simon and JJ obviously, but also Chris, Arthur, and Danny Aarons. As they all finally got together, Josh informed the group that they would all have to wear a animal onsie.

"Oh for fucks sake man," Chris groaned as he put on a tiger costume. "To be fair they are quite comfortable," Arthur said whilst wearing a green frog costume.

Y/n only smiled at their antics and banter as she waited for the boys to finish putting on their costumes. She was given a fox onsie, which was slightly bigger on her but as Arthur said, it was comfortable. "I woudn't say they're that bad Chris," she said as she looked at the blond man.

"Yeah yeah," was the reply she got from the Jersey youtuber as he was slightly stuck whilst putting on the tiger costume. Y/n let out a chuckle as she watched him.

Soon enough they all were ready and Harry started off the video as he was the seeker. As he said that they could go and start hidding Y/n sprinted off, immidietly leaving the group to go and search for a hidding spot. "I have no idea where to hide, this place is massive," she spoke to her camera as she ran, showing off the animals. She always loved animals, so it was nice to see so many of them.

As she ran past the monkey enclosure, she spotted a little souvenir stand that was completly closed, windows locked, shut and everything. But to her suprise, the door was unlocked so she quickly steped in and closed the door behind her. "Fuck me it's dark," she said as she turned on the flash on her phone, lighting the place off. It was the size of a kiosk, so not that big. But there was a huge box under the counter, and that could just be her hidding spot. She put her camera aside to see if she would fit in it, and after she confirmed to herself that she would she picked up her camera again and got inside it, closing the box after she made herself comfortable.

"Not the comfiest place, but it could do the trick. It's kinda far away, so let's hope Harry dosen't come here anytime soon," she talked to the camera, holding it up to show her surroundings. "I think I'll camp out here for a few minutes and then I'll go outside again," she added "All the animals are adorable and I really want to see the red pandas."

Some time has passed and Y/n decided that she'd go and find another hiding spot. It was getting quite hot and stuffy in the cardboard box as well she was getting bored. After leaving the little souvenir kiosk she just strolled through the Zoo, filming animals and talking to the camera. "Guys I found Simon and Cal," she spoke as she recorded two extremely tall giraffes.

Just as she said that she heard screaming and from the distance she saw Danny get chased by Harry. "Oh fuck no," she yelled before sprinting away as she realised that Danny was sprinting in ger direction with Harry on his heels. "Fuck ne fuck me fuck me!" she yelled as she ran "I should've stayed in my hiding spot!"

Thankfully she was able to get away safely, but her costume? Not so much. She hid herself in a bush but because of doing that her costume got torn apart a little bit. "Man, I liked this onsie,"

She camped out in the big bush for a while, catching her breath and talking to the camera a bit. But after some time she heard yelling again. "Oh God I think Arthur is getting chased," she informed the camera, recording what she could of her surroundings from outside the bush. Just as she saw Arthur getting chased she immidetly stoped talking and stood still, praying that her cover woudn't get blown.

To her suprise, Arthur actually hid himself too in the same bush that she was in and Harry sprinted off down the path just a minute later, not even noticing them. Just as she was going to greet Arthur quietly he let out a loud surpised yelp. "What are you-" "Shut up, shut up, shut the fuck up, you are not blowing this cover Televison," she cut him off, putting a hand over his mouth so that he woudn't make a sound. After a minute or so she put her hand down before greeting him with a smile.

"Hi," she said. "What are you doing here?" Arthur asked with a confused look on his face. "Hidding, obviously.," she replied. "Right," he said before falling quiet. The two didn't talk much, only recorded a bit and commented about something here and there, but other than that not my words were spoken between the two. After some time passed Arthur decided to go find another hidding spot, bidding Y/n goodbye. "Good luck," she told him as he left. "Thanks," and that was that.

"Well that was lovely..," she said to no one in a slightly moody tone. Nobody knew (hopefully) but the brunette had the biggest crush on the Jersey youtuber, despite knowing they had 100% chance of being together. Hell they weren't even that close, only really interacting whilst recording videos.

But that didn't matter that much at the moment as Y/n had a challange to win. After alot of more time has passed, she decided to leave the bush and go back to her original hidding spot. She made a dash for the kiosk, making sure to not be caught. After seccuring her original hidding spot she talked to the camera, about anything and everything really until someone entered the kiosk. She immidetly went silent, hopping she woudn't be found. Just then, she heard a yelp and something colliding into the box she was hidding in, making her fall. "Oh fuck me!" she yelled as she has been found, Harry standing over her.

"Oh my God I didn't even know you were in there, that was a complete accident mate!" Harry yelled, laughing as he recorded the brunette. "Oh for fucks sake Bog," she groaned as she got up. "Oi don't be so sad, you actually won!"

"I did?" Y/n asked excitedly, a grin slowly forming on your face. "Yes mate, did you not hear us calling for you?" Harry asked as the two walked out of the little kiosk with a confused look on your face. "I only heard screaming but no actual words being said." she responded. The two of them made their way quickly to the front of the Zoo where everyone else was. "Ey, theres the winner of todays video!" Tobi yelled out with a smile as he recorded Harry and Y/n approach them. "What happened to your costume?" Chris asked as he saw the brunettes ripped up costume. "Hidding in a bush is a smart move but it ruins your clothes." was all Y/n had to offer as they slowly started to finish filming. Soon enough everything was done and everyone was allowed to leave.

"You need a ride?" Vik asked her as it was a known fact that the girl didn't drive. "Nah, it's fine, thanks tho." she replied with a smile before going to bid everyone goodbye and leave.

"Hi Arthur," Y/n greeted the man as she approached him. Tomorrow came way to quickly for her liking, and she was so nervous too as she had no idea why he set this up. "Hey Y/n," Arthur greeted her politely with a smile as he looked up from his phone. "Want to head inside?" "I'd love to,"

The two of them entered the café with Arthur immidietly going to the counter. "I can take our orders while you find a place for us to sit down. What would you like?" he asked her. "An Iced coffee would be fine, thank you," Y/n told him before going to find a table to sit at. She quickly spooted a table in the back of the café where a little amount of people were sitting at. She put down her bag onto one chair and waited for Arthur.

"Your drink," Arthur said as he put down both of their drinks on the table. "Thank you," the brunette replied, taking a few sips of her coffee before looking at Arthur. "So, whats up?" she started. "This is, uh.. quite unusual for us to meet up outside of shootings. Is there something wrong?"

"Yeah, it kinda is. But theres nothing wrong actually, I just wanted to ask you something..," Arthur trailed off as he put his own drink down. "Well ask away than," Y/n said with a smile, still quite nervous.

"Would you like to go on a date with me?"

"What?" Y/n looked at him dumbfounded, not beliving what she was hearing. Arthur asked her to go on a date with her? "Wait wait if this is about the songs and because somebody told you about my emotions you don't need to ask me out on a date Arthur, I understand that you don't feel the same. You don't have to take me out on some pity date, it's fine," she rambled, not letting him get a word in.

"Pity?" Arthur asked. "God, Y/n it's not pity I swear. I geniuenly liked you for way to long but I never thought you'd feel the same. Then the guys started to message me that I should ask you out after you released the songs and everything. The only real reason why I haven't tried to get closer to you was because I didn't want to get rejected or something and I kinda always thought you just didn't like me romantically."

"Oh..," Y/n breathed out, before a smile formed on her face. "Well in that case, I'd love to go on a date with you Arthur," she said, her cheeks turning pink as she looked at him.

Can you make Frankie lovestruck?

After a terrible participation at someone else's bachelorette challenge, Frankie decided to try to find a partner her own way. She's not the easiest person to please... do you think you can match her freak?

About the challenge:

This is not exactly a bachelorette challenge. It's actually inspired by the 7 Wild Dates Challenge that comes with the Lovestruck EP, as well as other features from the new pack. But since having actual golden dates will probably be very hard, I won't be ACTUALLY playing the in-game reality show.

The gist of it: Frankie will go on dates with 7 different sims.

All the first dates will be Get To Know You dates and I'll try to let the sims be as free as possible to interact autonomously to see how the relationships progress. The results will help me decide who goes forward in the challenge.

Second dates, if they happen, will be Romantic dates.

I won't use mods such as First Impressions or Wicked Whims, because the idea is really to see how the new pack works (especially combined with other features from the game).

I'll be thinking about it and discussing the next steps with y'all. Hopefully this will be fun enough to become an actual organized challenge.

About Frankie:

28 years old, she/her, human, bisexual and aromantic*;

Her traits (for now) are overachiever, genius and paranoid;

*When I first created her, the game didn't have enough options to flesh out how she might find a relationship. I don't think The Sims will ever be able to represent the complexity of human attraction and sexuality, but I might update a few things for the sake of the challenge, like changing her relationship settings to "exploring", as well as giving her the romantically reserved trait.

Submission rules:

Human or occult young adults of any gender are welcome!

Please flesh them out as much as you can. Give them likes, dislikes, skills, jobs, lifestyles, etc. (but no romance skill!);

You can use any and all packs to make your sims, but please use minimal cc (1 outfit per category, no defaults, no custom sliders);

When you submit your sim, pick 3-5 activities and a venue type for their date with Frankie;

I'd love to start playing as soon as the pack comes out, so please try to submit your sims until July 25th.

Anyways. Headcanons based on whatever progression this is.

I said headcanons and I lied. Over-analyzing time.

First thing I was thinking about: how are Katsuki and Izuku childhood friends when they are very clearly from different cultures slash tribes slash villages. The idea I ended up with is that Katsuki's people move a lot since they have dragons and they temporarily settled near the Midoriya's house at some point.

Very quickly because I made a post about this before : at some point All Might's sword breaks or is broken on purpose by All Might and its two parts are given to Katsuki and Izuku (this is somewhat lore accurate/canon to the fantasy art series). I headcanon that Katsuki and Izuku then personalize their swords more, keeping the blade intact while modifying the hilt and such (see last illustration: Katsuki's sword is more visible that Izuku's but both have blades in a similar shape as the All Might/One For All sword. There's also that Izuku has another sword at his hip and Katsuki's original sword, the curved one, isn't the one that's out).

Shouto and Enji are so fucking weird.

Shouto's demonic situation in the second illustration clearly represents his left side being associated with his father (bad) and his hatred (also bad). I'm gonna say this is a curse passed down from Enji and created from hatred - the more hate you feel, the more the curse consumes you, but you can learn to wield the curse's power if you let go of your hatred. Both Shouto and Enji are fighting the curse in the second illustration (explaining Enji's fuckass costume hiding his flames, probably) and both of them let go of their hatred (Enji for All Might, Shouto for Enji) in the last illustration.

I also assume given their outfits that they're royalty, if not the king and prince, other similarly important guys.

I think heroes are knights, maybe, probably.

All Might is likely some kind of knight or warrior, Iida and Yaoyorozu are knights, Jirou is a knight, Aizawa is kind of a knight, maybe? It's not a fullproof theory I'll be honest, not all pro-heroes or heroes in training are knight coded in the fantasy series.

The ugly ass dragon?

The ugly ass dragon in the second illustration seems to be an ally to Katsuki and Izuku (and therefore the others) but for reasons you'll understand every soon it's fucking dead. I'm assuming it got killed by villains. Whoops.

So the reason I think it's dead is uh. Yo? Katsuki and Izuku's shoulder pads in the last illustration sure are purple and scaly huh? And the ornaments on Katsuki's new sword sure are orange and horn-looking, huh?

Anyways, the dragon got killed and they used its body for armor and weaponry.

the green capes?

The last illustration has Izuku, Shouto, Ochako, Iida and Aizawa wearing the same type of green cape (Ochako's is a little different but it's still the same green). So this is the Dekusquad plus Aizawa, I'm gonna go ahead and say this is Izuku's party, RPG style. Aizawa is probably here to mediate and make sure they don't die. Katsuki isn't there because he likely is leading the other party.

Kirishima glow up? hello?

He looks so fucking cool in the last illustration I don't even have anything to say. He also looks closer to Katsuki's clothing style, so I'm gonna say Kirishima is part of Katsuki's tribe slash village slash whatever the fuck but left to become a knight and then started getting more in touch with his culture when meeting Katsuki.

Stuff I point out without expanding on it:

Hawks' wings are gone, whoops. Interesting that the fake ones are white and not red. Dove much?

Yaomomo baby that armor isn't protecting you. However you are safe anyway because you are clearly some kind of magic user as well as knight and probably have some kind of force field in place.

Ochako's hat updates to have horns. Minachako goodness. /hj

Kaminari is a cute bard! He's such a romantic. Holding a flower and shit

Not visible in the picture I have. Guys I know we all love the I on Katsuki's arm but I'm sorry it's likely the number 1 in roman lettering rather than the letter -i. He's the number one. He's so goofy.

chapter one - "I've known you very well"

A/N: hi everyone!! I'm so excited to post this! Usually I spend a long time on the stuff I write but I wrote a good chunk of this in a feverish burst haha, I've been wanting to write for Wil and had such a clear idea of how I see him in my head for so long :)) This fic will probably be around 10 chapters~ish and progress will probably be a little slow but I'm also trying to get faster at my writing so I guess we'll see! Getting it down is always the hardest, then you spend a bit of time hating it, then the fixing can start! Anyway, I hope you guys like this, I love this dorky weirdo a lot for whatever reason, and I'd love to write for other egos too :) ((there might be a guest appearance or two in here in the last few chapters if plans don't change 👀)) hope you guys enjoy the first chapter at least! lmk 🥰! word count: 2.9k notes: reader is gender-neutral, similar to all of mark's stuff :) -- the title is just after the song! no pronouns or descriptors are used other than the occasional they/them. reader is the viewer (& district attorney) from wkm, adwm, ahwm, iswm, etc, but that won't come up until later. wmlw wilford. story will be mostly fluff, some hurt/comfort & angst, lots of romance and flirting! story is adapted from an idea I had for my self insert. we will get into some lore stuff (or at least my understanding of the lore 👀) and filling in gaps with headcannons, but it's mostly about wilford & reader and I'll try to explain as we go so don't worry about it too much if you don't know all of it. especially since I don't know if my understanding is always 100% accurate 👉👈 let's have fun yall! 💞

The music playing softly over the convenience store speakers was pleasant, if slightly boring. Like elevator music— there only to help ease the passing of time. Your night shift would end soon, and the sky could be seen as it lightened more every minute through the windowed front of the building.

Other than that, the old store was quiet. Dusty. Pink and orange neon strips lined the walls near the ceiling. They overpowered the dated fluorescent lights, casting everything in a slightly peach haze. Like a dream. 

Different sections of the store were marked with neon too, the letters glowed against the wall denoting the drinks, the snacks, the hot food… You liked your little store. Even if the unyielding isolation of your work made you a bit… complacent. You couldn’t remember the last time you’d truly talked with someone.

The ice creams chilled your fingers through the wrappers as you pulled them from their box and slotted them into place. Even with the cold air of the freezer wafting over you, you could smell the cool summer air coming in the sliding front doors.

You liked to prop them open on dawns like these. The convenience store lights did draw in the occasional pestering bug, but they usually found their way out again before long. You did get a bat once. Albeit a little crazed and frantic, you were surprised to find it harmless. Maybe a little lost. Now that thing seemed like it would never leave. 

Refocusing on your task, you brushed your condensation-soaked fingers on your work apron, tied tight behind your neck and around your back, and shut the freezer door. 

The motion alert chimed a pleasant tune through the staticky old speakers as a customer entered the open doors from the street.

You called an automatic, “Welcome in~,” and went about straightening a shelf of snack bars and chocolate. You didn’t bother to look in their direction as you heard them make their way through the aisles.

“Pardon me,” said their strange, nearly British accent from beside you now. You turned to the source of the voice, the man who’d just walked in, and your eyes went to his outfit first. 

A silky-- almost sparkly in how it caught the light-- lavender shirt with mismatched buttons revealed expanses of his bare chest. It was paired with white bell-bottoms and a fake pink afro hanging half-off his head, about to fall off. He had olive skin and dark hair-- nearly black--, fluffy and sticking up every which way like hands had been running through it. Scruffy facial hair framed a thick mustache that tinted slightly pink where it turned up at the ends.

He looked… honestly, he looked ridiculous. But the 70s getup was fun, you supposed. And his eyes-- dark brown and monolid-- were handsome. Underneath all the… extra mess. You blinked, slowly, in a way that felt like waking up.

“Uh, hi. Are you coming from a costume party or something?” It was August, but you supposed it was never too early to start the spooky season. 

“Oh! Do you know of one? I do love a good costume. But no. Just the regular-sort. Just woke up from one.” He scanned the products near his head, grabbed a protein bar, sniffed the wrapper, guffawed, and put it back.

“You just woke up? Are you alright?”

“Oh, worry not, friend, this is normal for my level of reverie! I’m not even hungover!” He laughed, his hands going to his hips.

You stared at him.

“I was just looking for something to gnaw on! To nourish myself before I’m on my way.” His eyes were still traveling all over, not really seeing you.

Now in theory, a strange man coming in at this hour, acting even stranger, with his clothes disheveled? You knew you should be on your way to your safe space behind the counter to get him checked out and exiting the store as fast as possible. But there was something about him… 

Something you couldn’t place…

Instead you raised your eyebrows and relaxed against the cooler door. “Uh, I guess that depends on what kind of food you like,” You offered. After a moment, his gaze landed on you and he seemed to finally take you in. Your uniform, your crossed arms, your patient expression, your features. His face scrunched into confusion.

A moment passed, staring at each other like that. “Your shirt’s looking a little rough, you know.”

“Have we met, friend?” He asked as he began to fix his buttons. 

You watched passively as more of his chest came into view. He either didn’t notice or didn’t mind your blatant staring. You weren’t sure why you were staring, or what you were feeling as you did so. 

You weren’t gawking at his abs or anything-- well,-- not that he didn’t have abs. He did, sort of. The expanse of his chest and abdomen were tight with toned muscle. He definitely wasn’t lacking abs, anyway. Either way… this was about something different. 

You wondered for a moment if a vague familiarity was what you were picking up on, but quickly dismissed it.

“I feel like I’d remember meeting you.” 

You realized with a start that your comment could be seen as flirtatious, and added quickly, “Just, you know-- generally.”

But he just hummed and spun on his heels, turning away. You sighed and found yourself in-step behind him, hands in your uniform pockets. Like it was the most natural thing in the world. 

“Well, either way!” He started, his energy returning tenfold. “Let's see what this cute little shop has to eat!” 

For some reason, you asked, “Do you have money?” 

He froze. “Er, no~. You don’t mind, do you?”

“Mind what?”

“Well, spotting me of course! Let’s just say I owe you one, eh friend?”

You rolled your eyes, smiling. “Thought so.” 

Thought so? Maybe you did know him… 

It was your turn to squint in displaced confusion. “What’s your name?”

His voice came from behind you and you spun around, your shoes squeaking on the tile floor. When did he sneak around you? 

He bent over and twirled his hand, a flamboyant bow finally knocking the afro off his head. “Wilford Warfstache, at your service.”

“That’s your name?” 

He righted himself. “For now.” It suited him well enough, but for some reason it sounded misplaced.

… But no, either way, you definitely hadn’t met him before. You didn’t know many people in the first place, let alone someone so eccentric.

Still, you were curious about him. Curious about his personality and who he was. He felt sort of like a puzzle waiting to be solved. And so far, despite his quirks, despite how admittedly weird you’d also been acting, he’d been friendly. You couldn’t say the staring and prodding questions were too in-character for you. At least not when it came to customers. 

His hair looked softer without the wig to weigh it down-- parted at his brow and long enough to fluff over the tips of his ears and end where his neck met his spine. You reached down to scoop the curly mop of synthetic hair up off the floor.

“Where did you get this thing?”

He hummed something like ‘I don’t know’, his eyes sort of wide like a clueless puppy’s. 

“What, you just kind of have it?”

“Yea’p.”

You squinted at him, a smirk forming on your lips. “How about I do you a favor and throw this away?”

He shrugged, hummed an ‘alright’ sound, and turned away. 

“Oh no, I was kidding! God, here--!” You had to grab his wrist to stop him from wandering off further and placed the pink afro in his hand.

You had just been trying to tease him, but now you just felt bad. “Look, Wilford, you want something to eat? We have to throw the hot food out every night. You can have a taquito or a slice of pizza or something if you want.”

Then he was frozen again-- staring down at where your fingers wrapped around his wrist. Your eyes followed his gaze down and then you were staring too.

A moment passed. Then two. Finally, you let go and crossed your arms again, tucking your hands away where they couldn’t embarrass you again.

“... Fuck, I’m sorry. I-I don’t know why I did that.” You did your best to clear your throat.

But he was still stuck there. He blinked a few times and his gaze met your eyes, his brows gathering together. 

“Wh-What did you say your name was, friend?” He seemed so… serious all of sudden. So dire.

You hadn’t mentioned it yet, but told him with a hesitant voice. 

His expression blanked, eyes widening. He brought his arm, the offending afro in tow, to his chest, touching his wrist where you’d held it.

“Oh…” 

You raised your brows and asked softly, “Sorry, do you know me, then?”

“Hm?” And he blinked like his mind was clearing, like he’d forgotten you were there. 

He cleared his throat, smiled-- ear to ear-- his mustache lopsided like a cartoon. “Oh-- nevermind about that! Some food would be lovely, if you don’t mind.”

His eyes were sparkling. 

“Sure. I mean, it’s nothing fancy. Here,” And you walked over towards the front counter. Wilford trailed close behind you-- holding onto the wig in his hands like a school kid holding a lunch box-- his gaze wandering over the store again like he hadn’t seen it the first time.

You arrived at the hot foods section, a glassed-off section of day-old food over heated rods. You shrugged. “If you have a sensitive stomach, maybe don’t,” you started, “but it’s mostly fine to be honest. I eat it if I’m in a pinch, you know.”

You hopped up to sit on the counter, your legs facing Wilford, and leaned back to reach around and grab the tongs waiting there. You straightened and clapped them together twice. You offered him a smile. “What’ll it be, Mr. Warfstache?” Then a quieter, “--that was your last name right?”

“Do you gravitate towards anything yourself?”

“Can’t go wrong with a slice of pizza, I guess. Even here.”

His smile grew sort of soft. “Then that. If you please.”

“You got it.”

You leaned over again and served up the slice of moderately warm and slightly greasy pizza on a brown napkin and passed it off to him. 

“Much obliged.”

You got one for yourself too, and when you righted and your eyes found Wilford again, he was sitting in a retro-style diner chair you’d never seen before-- his feet against the edge of the counter beside you.

You couldn’t help the surprised laughter that choked out of you. “Wha-- where did you even find that?”

The chair teetered on its two legs as he leaned precariously back, tilting his head at your question. The pink wig sat in his lap and you couldn’t help thinking it looked like some weird dog.

“Well, there’s no need to worry! I’m only borrowing it, I’m not a barbarian.”

And you just knew you weren’t getting more of an answer than that.

“So who even are you?” You asked as he took a bite of the pizza, somehow pulling all the cheese right off the top in one piece. He pouted down at the offending mozzarella, slurping it into his mouth and swallowing it. “Do you live around here?”

“Mm. I don’t really live anywhere. Much more the exploring-- ever on the move-- type.”

He was so expressive. It really felt like talking to an old cartoon come-to-life or something. You turned to lean against the side of the glass cover, swinging your legs so your feet rested on the counter, not far from his still against the edge. You weren’t touching at all, but you were surprised at how quickly the two of you fell into a casual-- albeit timidly curious-- rhythm. 

“So what do you do?” And you began to eat too.

He beamed, his smile reaching all the way to his eyes. “I’m an interviewer! Warfstache Tonight, that’s what my show is called! It’s quite a professional endeavor!”

You smiled and hummed around your bite of pizza, impressed. That actually explained a lot. And it suited him nicely enough. “Sounds pretty glamorous.”

“And what about you? You can’t just be a convenience store clerk!” He seemed so affronted by the idea. Crinkling his nose, dropping his voice an octave. “How dreadfully boring.”

You winced. “‘Just a convenience store clerk?’ Ouch, Wilford…” You couldn’t help frowning down at your slice. 

 “Oh! No no, pardon me!” He let the chair fall back to four legs, waving the idea way with a panicked hand. “I only meant that… this isn't what truly stirs your passions, is it? Do you do anything at your leisure? For work or just… something you enjoy?”

You squinted at him. But you didn’t really think he was trying to insult you. And he wasn’t wrong. It just… wasn’t always the most fun when someone pointed it out. Especially like that. 

You sighed, fidgeting as you considered his question. “Not right now… This job keeps me pretty occupied. But you know, it’s not too bad. It keeps me, I don’t know, grounded I guess.”

He thought for a moment, then nodded, taking another bite. “I do hope you get more opportunities soon, then.” He said, surprisingly grounded.

You looked at him. “... Thanks.” And you meant it.

“And… my apologies for the earlier, uh, miswording.”

 “That’s fine… I’d be curious to hear more about your show, though! Have you interviewed anyone interesting or anything?”

A beat. A sort of tiredness settled into his shoulders and he peered up at you. “The odd gold-star guest did wander in from time to time. I’m not sure if my skills were quite deserving of them at the time.”

Was that… shame?

“The truth is, I couldn’t quite live up to the role. I--” He laughed, pained. He cleared his throat. “I’m taking a bit of a break from show business for the moment.”

Ah. So that’s what happened. You offered him a sympathetic smile. “To party? That’s probably why you don’t have any money, Wilford. And why you have to rely on shitty convenience store food?” You held up your greasy napkin like it was evidence.

“Now don’t underestimate the power of a good party! And this food is fine, I’m grateful for it,” He crumpled the now empty napkin and gestured wildly with it. “The truth is I get by just fine. I’m just not sure what else I should be doing.”

You looked out the front windows. The sky was getting lighter. The timer marking the end of your shift would go off any minute.

So maybe that’s why he’d been asking you about your passions. You felt bad for him. He was strange, to be sure. And a little hard to follow. But he was also… sweet. He had a softness about him.

And still… there was that feeling that hadn’t disappeared since meeting him. Like… like your soul recognized him. Maybe not deeply. But distantly. Like you’d met him in a dream. It was a ridiculous notion. Ridiculous didn’t seem beyond his territory.

You turned, legs coming down from the counter once again. You leaned forward, your hand landing at the junction of his shoulder and neck. His silk shirt was soft under your fingers. His eyes jumped up to yours and you looked down at him with a smile. 

“You liked doing your show right? You want to be an interviewer?”

He nodded slowly. His lashes fluttered. 

“Then that’s what you should be doing! You just have to try again!” You shrugged with one shoulder. “It might suck a lot. And you might fail again. But pick yourself back up. Keep going. I’m sure you can do it if you keep at it and think outside the box, you know. Failing only means failing if you stop.”

You leaned back, your hand sliding away. He stared at you.

“That’s what the rest of us do, anyway. Honestly, maybe you should do your show online! You know, livestream it or something. I’m sure you’d find your own way to it.”

Slowly, a smile crept back in, the corners of his eyes creasing. 

“What a wonderful idea…” 

God, his eyes… 

You looked down at your own napkin, laughing a little at yourself. “Wilford, I promise, the advice I just gave you was nothing crazy.”

“Well, perhaps it’s just a little too rare that I get a pick-me-up.”

You hopped down from the counter. “Swing by whenever, I’ll hand them out for free. Though, if you’re always on the move, I guess you’re probably not in town for long, huh?”

He quickly followed your lead and stood, his chair nearly falling in his haste. “Uh— w-well I, I don’t know, I could always… linger for a day or two. Hard to say really.” 

“Uh huh.” You smirked at him, raising your brows. “Well, if that constant partying you have going on brings you back here, feel free stop in, okay? … It’d be nice to have someone in here every once in a while. Well, someone friendly, anyway.” 

“Right. Will do. Of course.”

You gave him two solid pats on the chest and turned to throw the napkins away behind the counter. When you turned to face him again, he was gone.  Only slightly confused, you quickly recovered and yelled a quick, “bye~!” to the now empty store.

Yourusername It might be the first Valentine’s Day we’ve spent apart, but jackharlow still made it special. Even though I told him not to worry about doing anything yesterday flowers showed up for Paisley and I, and today claybornharlow and cozane show up with a cake because when Jack asked if I needed anything and I said cake, because the baby is craving it. I didn't think he would actually get one. Thank you for everything and Paisley and I love you so much.

Freedom and Captivity as themes in Vivid BAD SQUAD - Part 2: Azusawa Kohane

(Disclaimer: This post contains general spoilers for VBS event stories, and FES Kohane's card stories.) After writing The Gay Akito Thesis™ (which I hope people enjoyed!!), I'm now back to this series. Considering I've written quite a bit since part 1, my writing style has changed a bit, so it may be slightly inconsistent with the previous part; I hope people don't mind much! So, it's time to talk about freedom and captivity as themes in VBS again. This time, I'll be looking at Azusawa Kohane, and what the concepts of freedom and captivity mean to her character.

PART 2: AZUSAWA KOHANE

You could say that Kohane has already sort of been "freed". Before meeting An and forming Vivids (and later Vivid BAD SQUAD), Kohane led a plain and boring life, where she had no real goal for her future; this lifestyle with no purpose was, in a way, her shackles — or at least the first ones. However, witnessing An singing in the street sparked something inside her, desiring to give singing a try. Hearing out An's dream to surpass RAD WEEKEND, she becomes An's partner and they form Vivids, introducing herself to both singing and Vivid Street, finding out new things in this new world around her. After a few setbacks while singing with An, Kohane changes her appearance, to show how she's actually serious about being An's partner and chasing her dream of surpassing RAD WEEKEND together with her. By the end of the main story, seeing that they all have a common goal and are on equal terms and feelings, they join BAD DOGS to form Vivid BAD SQUAD. All this marks the end of Kohane's previous lifestyle, now becoming a new person, with an actual goal — thus breaking free of the cage that was the boring life she led before. But, I believe that's just the "main cage" for Kohane: she's still very much a newbie at singing, with no previous experience, which could be considered her new shackles. However, she makes up for it with talent, and shows steady progress at singing. She quickly shows everyone just how good she is at singing, surprising everyone, and even scaring them; especially her own partner. Kohane's talent is terrifying and, despite being shackled by a lack of experience, she soon becomes a force to be reckoned with. When looking at her cards, I believe many of them can be looked at from a "freedom and captivity" point of view; however, I'll mainly talk about the cards that I find have symbolism of these themes, or things that are often associated with them, such as cages and shackles.

First of all, we have Kohane's 4☆ from her second focus event, Legend still vivid. In that event, Vivid BAD SQUAD visit COL, the livehouse where RAD WEEKEND took place, and they also learn that, contrary to what everyone thought, there exists footage of RAD WEEKEND, which they all watch together, with that being the first time Touya and Kohane watch the event. As for the card itself, it was released in the Sky Runners! Gacha, so it's quite clear that sky runners is the theme of the cards. All of the cards from that set have common elements: a city and a focus on the sky. All of the characters also wear similar outfits, with a focus on their running shoes, which can be seen in Kohane's card above. In the card, we see Kohane in a futuristic-like city, sitting on the ground. I'd say the implication of this card is that something has just passed by her, leaving a trail of golden leaves, which can be seen from her awed face looking ahead of her. I believe this represents how she watched RAD WEEKEND's footage and figured out what exactly is the thing she wants to surpass. What ran by her in the card is the legend she's chasing after. The immense city seen in the background, paired with the sky, represent how there's still so much to see in the world, which can be associated with Kohane's immense talent and how she keeps growing, experiencing and learning new things. Furthermore, the sky also gives off a general feeling of freedom, due to how vast and clear it is. Overall, this card fits the freedom theme quite well, as it has a general feeling of freedom, and shows how vast the world is, meaning there's still so much to see, learn, and grow.

Next we have Kohane's 4☆ card from Walk on and on, Touya's third focus event. As mentioned in his part, this set's cards mainly focused on cages and, just like the previous card, the sky. This card is interesting because, while the set focuses on cages, Kohane's the only one that is completely locked in a cage; Touya's cage is broken open, and the rest of characters aren't really in one. She's sitting on a swing inside a cage, but it looks like she's getting up after seeing the white crows fly by her. My interpretation is that she's inside a cage because she has not unlocked her full potential yet, so in a way, she's sort of holding back, which is represented by her being locked in a cage. However, by being shown getting up from the swing, it signifies that she's ready to break out of the cage and give it her all. Her getting up from the swing can also represent how she's giving a try to new things (since in Walk on and on, she does give a try to composing songs, just like Touya) and improving herself, rather than remaining locked in one place. Something interesting to mention is that, just like Touya, Kohane has a left wing on the back of her outfit. It's possible An has the right wing on her back; you can actually see a tiny bit of it in her card, but that's the only instance you can see it and so you can't make any real conclusion. However, it'd make sense for this to be the case, since just like Akito and Touya, An and Kohane are partners and complete each other. Although, unlike Akito and Touya, they aren't shown together in either of their cards, and Kohane's in a cage while An's not in one, so this could signify not having reached her level yet (from Kohane's point of view).

This is Kohane's 4☆ card from her third focus event, Kick it up a notch. That event had very notable development for Kohane's character, since during their third live event, 「RISE」, Kohane took up to the challenge and kicked off the event by giving an amazing solo performance, which shocked everyone; especially An, whose fear of being left behind by Kohane came back stronger than ever. From that, Kohane showed everyone just how much potential she has, and how good she has become. The card set depicts the Vivid BAD SQUAD characters in prisoner outfits, and has many elements that represent freedom and captivity, such as shackles, chains, of course the prisoner outfit themselves, and also the set's gacha name itself, Let out the Lambs Gacha. In Kohane's card, we see her sitting on a chair in a dark room, with a lamb made of various hard materials behind her, contrasting the soft and cute appearance of a lamb with the hard and strong exterior. The darkness in the room is broken by the light emitted by what looks like a door being opened. I believe, between the gacha name (Let out the Lambs Gacha), this card represents Kohane fully breaking out of her "cage"; she has shown her full potential to everyone, and is not holding back anymore. The beast (Kohane's immense talent) is now allowed to leave the place it was being held in. While not particularly related to the topic, I think the usage of the lamb is interesting since they're usually innocent, pure, and cute animals, yet this card is dark and menacing. I feel like this contrast represents Kohane well, who was meek and shy at first, but now shows just how powerful her singing is. Back to the card though. Although I think this card ties in with An's 4☆ card from the same set, which I'll talk more about in her own part, I don't believe they take place at the same time; in Kohane's card, the door is being opened, depicting the moment Kohane is being allowed out, while An's card shows doors fully open, after she has been allowed out, with her looking ahead scared, and there's nothing she can do about it. The freedom and captivity elements in this card should be easy to see: for starters, Kohane's prisoner outfit, which is of course associated with captivity. Between the dark room, the prisoner outfit, and all the chains and shackles, this does feel like a cell for Kohane. In a more metaphorical way, this represents Kohane's potential; the beast within her. Despite the cute and shy appearance (the lamb), it's actually very strong. Meanwhile, the beam of light interrupting the darkness represents freedom, and how the Kohane in the dark room is being allowed out of it, now having a way to leave. Following the metaphorical train of thought again, this represents Kohane's talent being "allowed out" (shown to everyone during her performance). The interesting part about this card is how it shows Kohane sitting on a chair, as if waiting for something, which I believe symbolizes how Kohane has always had the potential and talent, she just hadn't reached the level yet. In short, this card represents Kohane's talent and immense potential being shown to everyone, and thus breaking out of her cage (in a more literal way, even).

Now we have Kohane's 4☆ card from the event Whip the wimp girl!!, which I previously wrote about here. Brief personal story here but I didn't particularly like this card at first, but after reading the event and analyzing it, I ended up really liking it. I love its themes and what the card represents. It's very good. To begin, in Whip the wimp girl!!'s story, An makes up her mind and decides it's finally time to face the feelings she's ashamed of showing to Kohane, telling her partner how she feels, and also requests Kohane they face each other in a singing duel, giving it their all and pouring all their feelings into it, so she won't have any regrets. (Once again, I wrote more in-depth about this event in the essay I linked earlier; it's a very good event! I recommend reading it!) As for the card itself, we see Kohane on the floor, looking ahead of her, where a red cage is located. There's also an open blue cage behind her. At first, it may seem there isn't that much going on, but upon reading the story, and analyzing the card more, you realize there's a lot of symbolism and meaning to this card. There is likely multiple interpretations to this card, but my favorite one is that it represents An's fears; she's scared of her feelings, of Kohane finding them out and thinking she's uncool, and scared of facing them. And Kohane is used in this card as a representation of all that. The blue cage behind Kohane is the cage where she was being kept in, and seeing the broken chains on the floor and that the door hasn't been forced open (unlike the cages in An's card), I interpret it as An letting Kohane out of the cage. With Kohane being depicted on the floor, as if crawling, with a menacing look on her face and red reflected on her eyes, and facing towards the red cage, which would symbolize An in the card set, I believe this card represents An finally facing her fears and letting them out of where she was locking them, and facing them in a fierce battle. An interesting aspect of this card is that Kohane's hairstyle is the same as An's default hairstyle, but mirrored, with a blue underdye, which likely symbolizes An's original hair having a blue fade. This is quite interesting as FES Kohane did something similar: Kohane having the same hairstyle as An, but short. Her hairstyle also mirrors An's hairstyle in this set, which is pure black and red, and straight, compared Kohane's light blonde and blue, and fluffy. They're opposites, both in hair, outfit, and colors. I think it's pretty fascinating that the normally good and pure colors (light colors, white, blue) are being used as something scary / to fear, while the bad and evil colors (red and black) aren't. However, this could be interpreted as An viewing herself, and her feelings, as something bad. It also parallels Kohane's card from Kick it up a Notch, where they did something similar with normally cute and innocent lambs being depicted in a more menacing way; despite her cute and meek appearance, Kohane is powerful and a force to be reckoned with.

Another way to view at it is that the cage represents how Kohane has improved so much, leaving behind what was holding her back, and now confidently facing An and her challenge. She's no longer a shy, unconfident girl; she has immense talent and has improved a lot, and she can now face her partner without holding back. In short, the freedom and captivity themes in this card are represented by Kohane's cage; Kohane being allowed out of her cage, by breaking the chains that were holding her in it, can symbolize both An letting out her feelings and facing what she fears, and Kohane's growth. There's also the red cage, representing An, and how she held back and kept her feelings inside, not wanting to expose them to her partner. That, too, is captivity: hiding something away so it won't be found; in other words, locking it in. Overall, this is a great card thematically, and represents the themes of freedom and captivity quite well. I like it a lot.

Then, we have Kohane's FES card. This one is not really linked to freedom and captivity, and therefore I wasn't going to even talk about it, but there's something interesting about it: the name of the outfit it comes with, Chains Memory Jacket. Chains, as we know, can represent captivity, as chains can be used to lock something away (they also appeared in the previous two cards I talked about). However, I don't think they represent that here at all, but I still want to briefly talk about them as I think it's interesting. First of all, FES Kohane's card stories take place after Light Up the Fire, after Taiga defeats everyone and the group they had gathered ends up leaving. While thinking about An's determination, even after finding out Nagi had been dead along, Kohane thinks about if she'd be able to be like that if she were An. She brushes that thought off, and goes to sleep. Shortly after, she's suddenly in Vivid Street and everything seems normal... but for some reason, everyone thinks she's An. At first she pretends to be and acts like An, but she doesn't want that, so she looks for her teammates, who should know it's her. However, Akito and Touya don't recognize her either, and think she's An, too. She keeps pretending to be An, and they sing. But then Akito stops her, since she seems to be acting different than usual. Both guys think about how she seems to sing and act like Kohane, and in an attempt to make them realize, Kohane sings. While singing, she thinks about how while she admires An and wishes she could be like her, she doesn't want to look like her or be her. She wants to be her partner, and sing alongside her. Upon realizing that it's not actually An, Kohane finds herself in a different place, which turns out to be a fragment of feelings, and the Vivid Street she was at was an illusion. While walking through the fragment of feelings, which is shaped like a hall of mirrors you could find at some theme park, Kohane sees reflections of scenes and memories she witnessed in the mirrors; rather than a mirror house, it's more like a kaleidoscope. The card stories then end with Kohane leaving the kaleidoscope, thinking that she has been reminded of something important, and how she doesn't want to give up on everyone. FES Kohane's card stories are great, and I often recommend reading them because they're very good to understand Kohane. The main point it makes is that while Kohane admires An, and wants to be like her, she doesn't want to become her; she wants to be her own person, to be An's partner and to sing along with her. In the story, Kohane sees scenes and memories of everything she has gone through with her team; these are all pretty important to her, and are what shaped her into the person she is now. Both of these points are represented in the card itself: her having the same hairstyle as An, but shorter (also An's orange eye color), representing both the events of the card stories and how she wants to be like An, but not exactly like her; and camera reels of many pictures, representing all of Kohane's important memories and scenes, along with her photography hobby.

While none of this is exactly important to the main topic of the essay (I just wanted to talk a bit about it, honestly), it's important for the main point of this card's part: the costume the card comes with, Chains Memory Jacket. As I mentioned before, chains can be associated with captivity, as they can be used to lock something away, or in a more metaphorical way, something that is holding you back (that is, chaining you down). I don't think the chains in the outfit represent that, though; I feel like they're more an analogy. A trait of chains is that they are connected, and I believe that these chains in her outfit represent just that: connection. In the card stories, Kohane sees a bunch of scenes and memories that are important to her, which she was able to experience thanks to her partner and teammates; in other words, thanks to the connections she made. So, basically, the chains in the costume are a metaphor to symbolize Kohane's journey with Vivid BAD SQUAD and her connection to them, and how important they are to her. Although, if you wanted to be fully metaphorical and associate the card with freedom and captivity, you could say this card has Kohane breaking out of the shackles of having to act as someone she isn't, and becoming the person she wants to be.

Going back a bit, we have Kohane's 4☆ card from the New Year 2022 event, Beyond Prayers, the Tomorrow We Wish for Is... While she wasn't really a focus of the event, as it mainly focused on Haruka and featured all of the cast, I think this card has elements that we could relate to the concept of freedom. A quite colorful card, with a very painting-like artstyle, Kohane is sitting on what looks like the rooftop of a building, with an eagle next to her. Another eagle can also be seen flying in the background. Being on top of a building, and being able to see everything around you from a high place, gives me a general sense of freedom. Furthermore, there's the eagles near Kohane; they're free and allowed to fly away, as we see one of them flying in the sky. Not to mention how the sky, as mentioned back at the beginning, can also be seen as an element representing freedom because of how vast it is. I'd also like to note that, while not related to the topic, the contrast of the eagle's menacing appearance and Kohane's cute and innocent appearance is quite cool, which could be seen as a representation of Kohane and her immense potential.

Finally, we have Kohane's 4☆ from Vivid BAD SQUAD's World Link event, BREAK DOWN THE WALL. While there is no specific elements in this card that represent freedom or captivity, just like I mentioned in Touya's card in part 1, there's two distinct styles in this card set, with Kohane and Akito's cards having a cheerful and simple, comic-like style, while An and Touya's cards look more realistic and with a darker atmosphere. Perhaps these cards represent a light side and a dark side, with Kohane and Akito feeling more free and burdenless, not really worried about anything holding them back, while An and Touya carry their respective burdens, and therefore not being fully free.

Conclusion

The concepts of freedom and captivity are quite present in Kohane's character. At first, she used to be meek and shy, and without much experience, but with a lot of potential; her shackles were what she used to be like. She had no real objective in life until she met An and the rest of her team, and her newfound dream was the first step to leave the cage that was her regular and boring life. By growing and improving her singing a lot and showing how powerful she is, she is now completely out of her cage, confident in herself and the goal she's chasing after, with her partner and teammates, without anything holding her back. And that's all for Kohane's part! This turned out a bit longer than expected; even without considering I talked about more cards here than in the previous part, I also extended myself more than I thought, haha. I'm quite happy with how this one turned out. Next part should be out in about a month, so perhaps there'll be another, different essay before that. I hope you liked it, and thanks for reading! Stardew Valley Mod Recommendations

My roommate is gonna be playing Stardew Valley soon and asked me for mod recommendations. As I have over 100 active mods and that's a lot to send links to, and I love to talk, I decided to just make a post about my favorites.

I will leave links and a small blurb about many under the cut (this is gonna get long) but I'll be separating things into categories like Gameplay, Quality of Life, Visuals, and of course Expansions on the story and such.

Time to be overly thorough

Expansions

Stardew Valley Expanded - I'm sure this is a common recommendation but I find it's solid. The mod covers multiple additions from new characters, a new farm layout, and additional story arcs and realms to explore. It works well and nothing feels far off from the original game, and the integration of new characters with pre-existing is extremely well done.

Ridgeside Village - Another fairly popular expansion. This one is, imo, not quite as solid as SVE in that it has a few bugs and is a touch less complete but considering its size there's bound to be a problem or two. Integration with the vanilla game is also less seamless with the villagers typically being in their own off shoot during events, though given that this is a somewhat separate town that's also not a downside so much as something you might like to know.

DeepWoods - My favorite small expansion. Essentially the mines but a forest. This one is still a work in progress as there is a story being introduced to work alongside the forest's inner workings but its bones are very solid. Has a sword in the stone, a unicorn, and is a wonderful source of hardwood.

Hat Shop Restoration - What it says on the tin, really. Fixes up the hat mouse's shop. I find this one really cute. Hat mouse deserves a nice house :3

Textures and Appearance Overhauls

Less Ugly Spouse Rooms - Pretty straightforward. The same person has a mod for the interiors of the town but I personally prefer this one alone.

Seasonal Outfits - A very nice mod giving characters a new look every season, whose creator has also made one for the characters in SVE. A few of the portraits are overhauled more than others- I personally turn off the Elliot module because I like his original portrait and this mod changes him quite a bit.

Garden Statue Obelisks - Not a texture pack but a full replacement of the obelisks with classical-style statues.

Elle's Cat Replacements, Dog Replacements, New Barn Animals, and New Coop Animals - Recolors for the animals, in a nutshell. With multiple colors for every animal you can set up your ideal look, and even change your barn animals to deer and alpaca. In the same vein:

Truffle Foxes - Replaces the pigs with foxes. I'm a big fan of foxes so this one was just indulgent for me, honestly.

Medieval Buildings - Allows you to change the structures on your farm to a more medieval style. Most have multiple options for style and amount of greenery, and each one can be turned off completely if you'd like to preserve the look of any specific structure. This mod creator has an extensive line of mods to match this one, including one to apply to the whole of Pelican town and another to change the look of craftable items but I'm personally satisfied with the farm buildings alone.

Catcrows - A simple re-texture for the various scarecrows to make them cat themed. Can be toggled between normal cats and themed cats to match the variety of the rarecrows

Dynamic Reflections - Deceptively simple in title but a newfound favorite of mine. Puts your reflection on bodies of water for an added layer of depth but also reflects the night sky on clear days. I didn't think having this mod would make much of a difference for me but it really does make me more keen to walk about at night.

Note: The following furniture texture packs I will be recommending are not applied directly but are customizable through the use of the Alternative Textures mod. With this mod you can choose between any number of texture options these packs provide for individual furniture pieces.

Aster's Big Furniture Pack - A texture pack with a slew of different options. There's a lot of very cute options ranging from basic alternatives for bed appearances to turning furniture into a large bathtub.

Industrial Furniture - Another texture pack, this one providing a more modern/industrial feeling to furniture.

Quality of Life and Gameplay Changes

Almanac - This one is nice to have without being too 'immersion breaking', I like to think. A farmer's almanac, essentially, that lets you know when the last ideal day to plant crops occurs, where and when to find fish, and weather patterns for the coming season. Information like what can be found on each floor of the mines and your luck for each day can be toggled on or off depending on your preference.

Lookup Anything - A little bit like having the wiki in game. This one might seem a little more on the cheat side but if you planned to have the wiki open anyway this saves you a lot of trouble. As far as I know it doesn't have an option to show villager schedules but otherwise provides most of the information you'll need.

UI Info Suite - Puts little icons below the clock menu indicating a variety of things that can be toggled on or off according to preference including but not limited to when the traveling cart is in town, what your luck for the day is, daily birthdays, and if it will rain the next day. Extremely helpful; if I could only have one of the three already mentioned here this would be my first choice.

Timespeed - Another one that can seem a bit like a cheat at first given that you can completely stop time with a single button press, which admittedly can be handy, but this one can be used in a much more fair way. Ten minutes in Stardew Valley only takes 8 seconds to pass and even before expanding the gameplay and story options this can seem like not enough. I personally have it set to give me 20 seconds per ten in-game minutes which is only a little more than double vanilla speed but makes it feel like I actually have time for the things I need to do. This one is customizable down to the way time moves in different areas and time speed can be changed outside of its setup menu temporarily for when you need time to move faster or slower than you have it set briefly.

Bigger Backpack - A third backpack expansion that costs 50,000 gold (though this can be set to a different price if so desired). Another handy one given just how much certain expansions can add.

Friends Forever - Removes relationship decay from the game. Already a solid QoL type addition but even more so if you choose to mod in expansions- The character roster fills up quick.

Free Love - Lets you marry/live with multiple characters.

NPC Map Locations - What it says on the tin, really. Removes a lot of guesswork and need to look up character's schedules. Even works with many expansions.

Sit for Stamina - I find this one to add some realism. It's kinda silly to waste the day when you could just take a break once your stamina is low.

Instant Tool Upgrades - No more wait for upgrades. Feels very gracious when you're in early game, especially.

Auto Animal Doors - Opens and closes the barn and coop doors at designated times. These times can be set according to preference and you can set this mod to only work for a certain level of barn and coop if you'd like to treat it as a perk of upgrading.

Skip Fishing Minigame - I mean... c'mon...

Extended Minecart - I just think it's neat. It's not the most necessary mod but the longer you play the more I feel that that little walk from the bus stop to home is a slog, y'know?

Deluxe Journal - Lets you make custom tasks and take notes. Sooo helpful when you have trouble remembering what you were working at last time you played.

This is a non-exhaustive list, of course. I only included my favorites so there's no accounting for personal aesthetics and varying gameplay styles but if you're not sure what to get this can hopefully give you some ideas.

I don't even know if this would be considered a fic?? Cuz honestly this was such a short little thing that I wrote in under like 15 minutes 😭 probably the shortest amount of time it's taken me to ever write literally anything. But it was after I watched S6 E136 and literally that night I had a dream where this whole scene was played out in my head. And it just felt so dramatic in the right ways and just raw emotion that I had to write it down. And it's STILL my most liked post on this entire blog😭 but honestly understandable bc sometimes I go back and read it and I'm just like "damn wait I wrote that????" lmfaoo

"Only for you, Toshi" — Shinsou:

Completely opposite from the last one, this is actually the longest thing I've ever written. (that's posted anyway, there's a few longer still in my drafts) I just feel like Shinsou doesn't get enough love but he definitely deserves it😭❤️ all my friends that read it said they really enjoyed it and I'm just really happy with how it came out after working on it for a couple weeks, and that not touching it for a few months and then coming back to it only to finish it in like 2 days lmao

Now this wouldn't be a post about my fics if I didn't include something for my absolute favorite character in the entire show🖤 this fic was very self indulgent bc I'm such a brat🤭 and I'm convinced that Dabi is the king of brat taming. This is a multi-part series I'm co-writing with my bsf @haru-x-ren on a joint account we made. (@bunny-x-haru if you'd like to follow) it's currently still a work in progress with only a few parts released, but it is a continuation of a 2 part fic I wrote when I first started called "You're the Only Thing That Makes Sense" — Bakugo So I do recommend reading this one first before Secrets for context and background info. I feel like you can really see my growth in writing from then to now, cuz that was like literally the second thing I ever posted lol. And Haru was literally my biggest fan bc he's the one that got me into writing fanfic<3 so after he read it, he had this absolutely BRILLIANT idea (spoiler) to take the scene I wrote where bakugo and deku were caught fighting after school hours (similar to that scene from season....2? When Bakugo learned about OFA) and turn it into a BakuDeku love triangle and I was honestly obsessed with the idea

Schedule

I work a few different freelance jobs and so my schedule is constantly in flux. I usually stream weekday at 11:00 AM or 12:00 PM in the EST/EDT timezone. I'll attach my weekly schedule for the current week below:

Content I Stream/Create

I usually stream otome visual novels or joseimuke mobile games. Some of my favorites are Ensemble Stars!! Basic and Music, Bandori, Taisho x Alice, Tears of Themis, Hatoful Boyfriend, and BUSTAFELLOWS.

Sometimes I'll stream variety content such as JRPGs, scuffed karaoke (yes it is always scuffed lol), baking or decorating desserts (rare because this is messy and requires lots of planning!), crocheting, and cozy chatting content. I like to experiment with my content when I have more time in my schedule!

I'm currently working on a larger video project where I summarize the entirety of the Ensemble Stars story backlog and lore on YouTube. The series is still very much a work in progress but I do have a livestream VOD where I explained some basics about the game universe and characters which you can watch here:

I also really love music! I try to hold karaokes as much as I can and I've recently start recording covers songs! You can check out my first cover song below. It would mean a lot to me if you gave it a like as well!

Other than that I do a bit of voice acting, sometimes while I'm playing VNs I'll even try to voice over the characters. But mostly I just record short voice clips and post them to YouTube and TikTok.

Now that I have this page I hope to post some exclusive Tumblr content such as video scripts for my YouTube videos and reviews for games, animes, mangas, and novels! I'll link back to some of those posts when I do create them.

When 2024 started, I had some goals and plans for my devwork this year. I hoped to start developing commercial games. I didn't expect all of my plans to work, but I also didn't expect none of it to work the way I planned.

So while I said to myself, "Welp, that just means I gotta replan and make a new schedule for 2025!" it was still difficult for me to hype myself up for that.

I planned to join Velox Fabula 2 to cheer myself up, but despite writing over 4k words and completing a sprite... my willpower simply disappeared and I gave up completing the project.

I might finish it in the future, but the stars misaligned this time.

It is a Quick Transmigration, multi-lifetime story between two people. The story was planned to be vignettes of moments between the two characters, but I realized I wanted something more and the scope was already too big for a small jam like VF2.

Punk BL Game

That's not the title, I have no idea what the title will be. I hope an epiphany will hit me soon because idk how to tag my posts otherwise. Or I'll have to go back and edit a lot of posts.

It's a rather big and ambitious idea. This will be a turn based battle/hybrid VN with some dating sim elements. I wish I had a single word to describe it. Perhaps I'll have to do some more researching for similar games.

The story is about Silver, whose been ordered to defeat the gangsters who run Lucidus City. If he falls in love with one of his rivals, well, that'll depend on you...

(did I post this image before? I feel like I have, but I can't find it on my own blog LOL...)

The story is split into four parts (currently); writing for ith as come so naturally that I did 4k on Friday night. These are sketches for the main characters of the first part. The MC, Silver. The "love interests" (once again, I hesitate to call them so because they won't get traditional romance routes. I'm still unsure if they'll get actual romantic endings) for part 1 are: Drayton, Gordan (Danny), Caleb, and Evan.

Any guesses to who the yandere in this story will be.

(Just some expressions I picture him making throughout the story)

Buggy BL Game

The other untitled BL game I've been daydreaming about. Thanks to discussion with some friends, the basic concept is: a bunch of bugs get stuck in a death game, similar to the idea of Kodoku.

I only have the base outline and one of the LIs designs finished. Meet Butterfly, one of the more uncooperative love interests you get to meet in the death game.

Actually, all of the love interests are quite uncooperative...

I haven't finished developing the rules and stakes of the death game yet, but I know for a fact that variable control will be essential to this game. I have a bad feeling future!Pumpkin will be ambitious and try a system where who you let die early in the game will affect later trials of the game...

Other than that, I'll be finishing a few owed artworks this week before I dive into rescheduling my long term gamedev goals for 2025 and beyond.

Hello friends!

Welcome to update #2! I’m very excited for this one. I’ve worked very hard for the past couple of weeks and been busy with both this project and one (not related to ID whatsoever lmao) for administration at work!

Before getting started, I do want to apologize for the inconsistent updates and posts. Please bear with us, as we’re now a small team of four; Mir: @timetravesty, our new writer Ava: @buttercup--bee (we’ll have her introduction for ya’ll soon), Ally: @marcolinfanmarcooo, and myself, Dev! We are working hard behind the scenes and trying to get the ball rolling a little faster for all of you wonderful people!

One of our members, Ally, is taking a step back due to the tropical storm Nalgae that hit the Philippines on October 29th. Please check out Ally’s page to learn how to support or donate. Her family was heavily affected and they deserve all the help that they can get.

I also want to let you all know that I’m not going to be answering certain questions that come into the ask box. Reason being is… We don’t have the answers for some of them quite yet. I don’t want to answer anything and give false promises! While there are things that are subject to change during the writing process, we haven’t quite started on the scripting yet. We’re getting there though! I’ll still be answering questions, but it’ll just be the ones that we’ve been able to answer behind the scenes. However, we won’t give specific spoilers!!

For general and writing updates: 

As soon as I have all of the primary assets ready to go, I'll be ready to start building the UI! I'm aiming to get a character creation menu done to showcase what the general layout of the game will look like. Maybe ya'll might even see a mock scene from us in the future, if the UI is strong enough ;)

We are piecing together the direction of the story right now and we’re heading in a wonderful direction. We’ll have more updates for you soon in terms of story progression and the general completion. One thing I can tell you is that vampires aren’t the only spooky bois in this world…

For asset and character updates: I’ve been working on new MC sprites between F!MC’s and M!MC’s, new clothing, and new hairstyles. I took some time to evaluate how I felt about the original F!MC’s I had finished. I initially created just one new sprite sheet, and the rest looked, well, boring. I started from scratch for a lot of them, and while it takes forever, I’ve been having fun! Quite a few of the M!MC sprite sheets are done, but there are tweaks I’d like to make before releasing them to all of you. You’ll get to see the new M!MCs soon, I promise you!

Admittedly, I have more erm -- edgier clothing because I'm an edgelord. One of the things I've been working on is making other style and varieties of clothing to ensure it's inclusive to everyone and their preferences. Another fun addition I'm aiming to add are accessories, much like @itlivesproject. Hopefully this is exciting news, but I have two new body types for both F!MC and M!MC. They vary from: fit, thin, and thicc. There are also eight different sprites for both F!MC and M!MC!! I was very excited to see that both the MC Sprites and the new outfits tied for first place in the poll a couple weeks ago! New hair/hijabs was a close last second/third(?) place, so naturally, I’m gonna show ya’ll a few of those too!

Next Time On Style Savv-Vee | Style Savvy : Styling Star #03

Last time the tittle was boring, so I had to make up for it... Anyways, sorry for the long wait, I had a lot going on last week, But now I'm free to hop back in to Styling Star!

Oh yeah, we got a story event last time, and two more events just opened. But we have been using roughly the same outfit for the last few weeks, So let's change it up real quick first.

I'm not SUPER happy with how this one turned out, I think it needs some tweaking, but I'll stick with it until I can pick up more items. As we stop by the exhibition hall, we're informed that a new brand has been unlocked:

I've always been a fan of this brand, they offer a great selection of more mature items, that arn't as flashy as the 'Enid Chen' items.

The 'example' outfit is a little on the plain side, but their actual selection is pretty good as usual.

Stopped by the bread stand, and it's clear Alina dose not like puns!

But the devs do, because we can cheer him up, with more wordplay:

Any ways, that all the events for that day... So back to the shop!

Ok, so it looks like this customer is looking for something very specific, my options are fairly limited so I may try mixing some colors. And here's what I came up with:

I have always had trouble with 'lively' outfit, as I may have mentioned before, it's hard to make them not look messy when you're dealing with so many colors and styles all at once! I think this turned out okay, I tried to match the colors of her current outfit for reference, but maybe the glasses were a bit too much..idk. Overall, she was happy with it, (but no bonus) I still consider this a win! Oh, and Jo and Vincent came back too!

I learned that she wants to open a live music club, I wonder if that's a hint of things to come. (there was a club in the previous game

...And that's all the customers for today, Again, I'm glad this game introduces elements slowly, But, with the fixed amount of customers right now, it's starting to feel like they're artificially limiting your progress as well. I like Archie though..

I don't know if all the assistants act the same act the same, but I enjoy that they actually gave him a personality, and a role in the narrative. Time to turn in for the day...

As the next day opened, no new events, townsfolk or arrivals, So I guess we're back on the 'Stylist rank' grind train! ..or so I thought:

Since it's been over a week since I played, I forgot the Rosie event was technically just yesterday.

She also immediately trips and falls on the floor, She's starting to remind me of Sakura Shinguji, From Sakura Wars (1) The kinda clumsy character who just moved to the big city Normally, this character trope can get a little annoying, but I find when it's done with a super determine character, (and not overused), I'll admit, it can be a little cute.

She mentions that she likes both girly and rock styles And now we have to answer one of our toughest questions yet:

Are we about to affect her life's path or something? I feel like her hair and makeup suit more of a girly look, But this could be the chance to let her try something new. And the fact that it's a choice like this means, I probably won't be able to change this later... ...argh, I think I'm putting to much thought into this, she said she likes both, and this is a rock themed store, so let's just go with that...

...And somehow I'm sold out. I head out and buy the single Rock Casual dress they have for sale that day. And once I come back from restocking, I see that I'm presented with the same question, so turns out you can change your mind if needed.

She seemed to enjoy the outfit, and promised to come back soon, Based on how much backstory she's gotten, I'm going to assume so. After she left, I moved on to helping other customers:

Their story is actually pretty detailed, I wonder if the trade of they made for this entry was dramatically cutting down on the number of people you can interact with, in order to make the writing for the remaining ones stronger? DBH MODDING (3) - CONNOR OUTFIT BEGINNINGS

Dear Diary

It's time for another mod diary entry and I'm losing my mind. Welcome to chewtoy central, next stop insanity. You can find my last entry here where I talk a bit about general textures.

It’s 14/01/23 and I’m going feral, BUT I'm pleased to announce that I made progress on the things I was stuck on last time! I'm going feral because there's someone out there who knows how to make Connor into a SWAT officer and I desperately want that in my life, but it looks like I have to figure this shit out by myself. Anyway, I:

Fixed the bug in Russian Roulette by starting a new playthrough.

Can edit and import DDS files I was struggling with.

Downloaded GIMP instead of Blender to edit those DDS files.

Have a modded beanie Connor snooping through Hank's wardrobe as a celebration for getting past that bug:

I downloaded GIMP 2.0 because I stupidly deleted it from my PC like a month ago. I don't have Photoshop, so I'm going to use GIMP to edit the DDS files I was talking about last time I wrote.

I followed this tutorial which I linked in my last entry. I did my recolour and exported it which looks like the image below. If you're having trouble with GIMP, read this forum post. It sorted out my issue! In the end, I had pink-android-markers Kara!

Anyway, so... Then I wanted to immediately mess around with Connor's uniform. I have a design in mind, which I started working on below:

I wanted the Juicy font (Old London) to be on the back, so I downloaded the Old London font.

I didn't know how to add it, so I read this and followed the instructions there.

I got to work with editing the crap out of the image.

At first, I edited it so it was nice and even and looked like this:

But that made the end result look kind of funny? Like the blue was screwing things up in the "thiri-yum" part? Idk

My goal is to make a ridiculous bougie outfit for Connor. I just started with what I understood.

Another goal is to give Connor a SWAT suit. For the SWAT thing, I made a little progress in understanding what I have to do (as seen below).

Hello Anon! Thank you for the asks <3 This is going to be a bit of a long post, because my editing process is... detailed, so I'll answer Warm Coat first, in case you get bored about reading my long-ass editing process <3

Warm Coat: Share a happy or fuzzy scene from your wip!

This is a cute moment that I love. It's from Chapter 20, and it really shows how Lizzy and Cara's friendship develops over the course of the book. Poor Lizzy though, they fey just don't celebrate birthday's the way we do...

"It's Lizzy's birthday," Cara said, pretending that she wasn't still blushing, and Lizzy rolled her eyes. Cara slid on the straw sun hat she'd been carrying in her hands, the orange band of fabric encircling it the brightest splash of colour on her entire outfit, and Cara's hands fussed with the ribbon tails as they trailed off the brim and down her back.

"It's— Your birthday?" Andric asked, switching his attention from Cara, as she fussed with her sunhat, to Lizzy mid-sentence, and Lizzy shrugged.

"It's not that—"

"It is important," Booker cut her off with a growl. "You're eighteen. This one's important... even without Maddy," he added, voice softening.

"I was thinking; Shopping, movie, meal," Cara said quickly, stepping closer to Andric, and Lizzy watched, bemused, as Andric got hit full blast by her roommate's wide-eyed pleading.

He seemed to hesitate a moment, and Lizzy half expected him shut down Cara's extravagant plans, but then she leant forward and added, "Did you know that fey don't do birthday parties?" and he caved.

"Sounds like you've got it all planned out," he said simply, holding out an arm towards the front doors of the school, "if we want to fit all that in, we'd better get started."

"Yes!" Cara celebrated, jumping on the spot and throwing one hand in the air as Lizzy looked on bemused.

"Looks like you're getting a mortal-realm style birthday," Booker teased as Cara and Andric moved towards the doors, and Booker began dragging her after them with the arm that had curled around her shoulders, "whether you wanted to or not!"

Leaves: What does your editing process look like? How does your wip typically change as you work on it?

My editing progress is... in depth? I guess? I know that grammar is my weak spot, so I kind of just do the best I can to get it as clean as I can before I send it off to an editor.

The way I do that, is to edit in layers, and this ties into the second half of this question about how my WIP changes. Because once I have a completed manuscript, my WIP's core story doesn't change all that much.

So, it might sound strange, but step one of my editing process is actually to create an outline of my story before I start writing. I know. Sounds weird. Bear with me...

So I make my outline. It's very rough, it's not in depth, it's not detailed (Sometimes it's nothing more than a list of bullet points), and I'm not going to stick to the outline as I write. So why do I make it, you might ask... because I can use it when I come to edit.

For example. Changeling's outline. The first version I wrote before I started the series. I changed the outline after I finished the first act. By the time I'd reached the 3rd act, I had to entirely rewrite the final act of the outline, because my story had drifted so far that the original outline no longer worked.

So now I have a finished manuscript, and 3 versions of the Changeling Outline, because while I was editing the outline, and rewriting it, I never deleted the original.

The first thing I do to edit, is I reread my original outline. I look at the story I wanted to telll, and the things I wanted to include, and I decide if I managed that. If I didn't, do I still want to include them? Or is the story better without them? I'll make handwritten notes about all this while I'm reading the outlines, because I don't edit the manuscript straight away. I have to let it rest, but I go over the outline as soon as possible after finishing the manuscript so that it's still fresh in my mind.

The second thing, once I have all my notes from re-reading the outlines, is to let my manuscript rest. The length of time varies. Stolen I let rest for 8 months. Changeling I was happy going back after about 3 weeks.

The third step is to actually edit. I don't reread my manuscript. I've let it rest so it's fresh, and I don't want to lose that by rereading it. I have the notes I made from the outlines, after I first finished it. These are usually large, plot structural changes I need to implement, so I have that notebook beside me as I work through the project. For example, in Changeling, I realised I needed Booker to have a 'Tell' for when he's using telepathy (for plot reasons), so that's something I needed to weave in throughout the story as I went.

And then I edit the manuscript one chapter at a time.

This is still step three, but I do each chapter in small, easily repeatable steps.

(A) I copy/paste the chapter from my writing program into the Hemmingway App. (Warning for Anyone who uses Hemmingway; It will not save your work. If your browser page refreshes, closes, or your computer restarts, you will lose ALL your work. If you need to navigate away from Hemmingway, copy your work into a googledoc or something)

While it's in the Hemmingway App, and before I use any of it's functions, I use Ctrl+F (Find in my browser) to search through the chapter for Weak Words, Filter Words, and my commonly overused words.

Caveat; If any of these are found within character dialogue, I ignore them. Character's shouldn't speak perfectly and so Character Voice always wins out.

After I've searched for each of these words, looked at the paragraph it's contained in, and decided if it's the best word for the job/if it can be rewritten to remove it/if it can be deleted outright/if i want to keep it there... then I move onto the things Hemmingway App can actually do.

Hemmingway highlights a bunch of things, but the only two features I actually use or pay attention to is it's highlighting of Adverbs and Passive Voice.

If my Passive Voice is below the recommended, then I'll still go and have a look at them and see if I can reword to remove them, but I don't worry about it too much. I've usually only got 2 or 3 instances per chapter, and that's a comfortable quantity for me, as most of the time these are within character dialogue.

Adverbs are where I'm quite weak, I usually have a painful number of Adverbs, so I will painstakingly go through and check each adverb to see if it's a strong or a weak adverb. To see if I really need it there, or if I can cut it. If I do need it, then I try and see if I can rewrite the sentence or paragraph to remove the adverb, and replace it with a stronger verb instead.

I always try and get my adverbs below Hemmingway's recommended number, but as long as I've checked over each one, and made a decision on them, that's good enough because that usually gets me within 5-10 adverbs of their target anyway.

As I'm going through editing Adverbs, I'll also work in any new content I need to add from my notes. I'm rewriting paragraphs during this stage, so it's the easiest moment to slide in extra, additional, or changed content.

(B) Once I've done my final Adverb check in Hemmingway, I copy/paste it from Hemmingway into Grammarly.

I use Grammarly's free version. I've tried their paid, but I don't think it's worth the price, especially if you're also paying for a professional editor. ProWritingAid is another good grammar checker, but I find it too complex to work with. Your Milage May Vary.

So, my document gets placed into Grammarly, and I wait for it to run it's grammar check. I then go through each of it's suggestions. I don't accept every suggestion, I read it and make a decision based on how I want my story to read.

Honestly, this is probably the fastest step.

Once I've said yes or no to each suggestion, I move onto Natural Readers, but KEEP the Grammarly Document open in a different tab.

(C) Keeping my chapter open in Grammarly in one tab, I go to Natural Readers Online. Natural Readers have really GOOD sounding voices, and they will read back to you any text you paste into their website.

So I'll copy the chapter from Grammarly, and paste it into natural readers. You can get 5 minutes of their Plus voices for free per day, and I think it's 20 minutes of their Premium voices for free per day. Their basic voices are free, unlimited, but do sound more like the robotic voice you'd expect.

I hate reading my own work aloud, so this is the way I bypass that embaressment. I have Natural Readers read my work back to me. I find this step invaluable. I can hear the flow of the text, I can catch spelling mistakes that a spell checker thinks are correct, but aren't what I intended (like Brian instead of brain, for example).

I also find that I can spot repetativeness more easily when it's read back to me too. I can hear I used "running" three times in two paragraphs easier than I can see it.

I can also spot where I've duplicated paragraphs. Sometimes, at the Hemmingway Stage, if I need to rewrite a paragraph, I'll go to the next line and retype it out from scratch, but will forget to delete the original. Natural Readers, and hearing it read back to me, is where I'm most likely to catch this mistake.

The reason I keep my Grammarly tab open, is that any errors I hear in Natural Readers, I edit in Grammarly. That's because Natural Readers doesn't like my Em-dashes. It breaks them. So it's easier for me to copy/paste from Grammarly that it is from NR and to fix all my Emdashes later.

(D) So after Natural Readers has finished reading my chapter back to me, and I've fixed any error's that's highlighted, I copy my final version of the chapter, and I paste it into my manuscript's Googledoc File.

I run Googledoc's spellchecker, to catch any tiny, last things every other step missed, and then I log the final wordcount of the chapter so that I know how many words I cut or added, and so that I can keep track of my manuscript's final word count (Because final word count is what I'm paying my editor to check)

(E) Then I do it all over again on the next chapter. This process can take me anywhere from 2 hours to 6 hours, per chapter.

Final Step, once I've completed all my self edits, is to read through the book from start to finish myself. At this point, I'm hopeful, I don't find anything else I think I can change.

Then I hand it over to Beta Readers. I'll make any small changes they find, then it'll be time to send my manuscript off to my professional editor, Nicole at Evermore Editing.

She edited my prequel short story, Whatever Happened To Madeline Hail? and I have every intention of going back to her for Changeling

So that's my editing process. It's also why my core story doesn't really change a whole lot once the manuscript is completed. Any huge, structural changes happen during the outline, and during the actual writing process. If I reach the end of a manuscript, it's almost entirely how I wanted it to come out, or I go back and rewrite.

Editing is really the final stage, and some once I'm reached that point, there's not a whole lot that is due to shift.

So I whine about editing a lot, but it's more that I find it highly tedious, and repetative, than stressful or difficult.

It's been a while since my last aside so I felt like sharing what I've been working on in my free time! I promise I'm not lazy, I'm just busy and also really like starting new projects halfway through working on 8 other projects for some reason haha

Speaking of starting something new when I haven't finished something I started previously, Minh and I were planning on making a collab Shulkelia one shot for Valentine's Day! Obviously that didn't pan out haha but it's still being worked on and it's extremely cute and fun :) Hopefully it will be ready to post sooner than later! And I also will hopefully be able to work on Constellations soon as well!! (Seriously I feel. SO. bad about my hiatus, especially since I know how many interesting and fun rough-draft ideas we brainstormed up for it that are just waiting to be finalized and shared with the world!!)

Another thing I wanted to do for Valentine's Day but extremely missed the boat on was mass dumping the few good NSFW Shulkelia pieces on here (with a planned warning ahead of time as well as copious tagging and hiding under readmores, of course!), including a full translation of a doujin! However, it being a nearly 20-page comic with dialogue and onomatopoeia all over the place meant I couldn't go the normal route of putting the translation below the art, it would just be way too messy and confusing. So, I decided to open up Photopea and replace the Japanese text with my translation! I felt bad about editing someone else's work (still do haha) but there was just no other way to do it, there is. SO so much onomatopoeia in there that it would be a nightmare to do it any other way. But that fact also contributed to why I still have yet to finish the translation: I got wayyy too ambitious in my typical perfectionist way, and decided to use the clone tool to edit out the hiragana and katakana handwriting for the onomatopoeia and place English text in their places, rather than just put it in small, parenthetical text next to the original writing like manga translations typically do. And oh my GOD I should never have done that there are literal HUNDREDS of characters I had to painstakingly edit out and I'm STILL not even done yet no no no... But I'm so close to finishing it!! I have only a couple pages left and then it's good to go!! Expect to see it along with the other NSFW art of them (again, with multiple warnings far ahead of time plus careful tagging to make sure you won't see it if you don't want to!!) in the near future!

Not XC related at all, but my most recent project has been making an Ao3 site skin (and, in the process, learning how CSS works) and it's been really satisfying! It's nothing super fancy, but it does create a noticeable improvement from the default (in terms of clarity/organization/readability, no offense intended at all of course!) and I'm very pleased with it so far! Once it's done I'll share it here, complete with notes on what each piece is doing to the layout and how, so anyone can use it and tweak it how they like! :)

I unfortunately haven't made any more progress on Xenoblade 3, sorry to say. And actually... it's partially because I'm worried that I'll end up liking Noah so much that I'll get even more distracted from writing Shulkelia or Xenoblade 1 in general haha... Like I'd never give up on that of course, 1 and its characters will always have a special place in my heart! But I can see myself getting swept away by The New Guy TM, much like I do with new project ideas popping into my head...

My FFXIV x Xenoblade 1 crossover has made some good progress! I've now finalized the outfits for over half of the characters I plan on making, after hours and hours of trying different chestpieces and dyes to get them as close to their canon outfits as possible! In fact, maybe I could share a little more about what exactly I'm doing, to show how I was having too much fun and made it a bigger thing than it had to be, to help explain why it's taking so long haha:

So originally the idea started out as "what FFXIV job best suits the playstyle/archetype of each of XC's playable characters?" (and I have a whole host of notes in my head about why that is from both a gameplay/kit perspective and a fandom-y General Vibes/Aesthetic perspective, which I will for sure post along with the pics). And if I could draw well, it probably would've ended there: I'd just have made some art of the cast posing with their weapons and call it done. But since 1) I can't draw the things I see in my head like I want to and 2) I like to over-complicate things for fun, I decided to pile onto this idea by not only adding more characters of (XC SPOILERS!!!) Alvis, Egil, Meyneth, and Zanza to the roster (including in terms of what jobs suit them each and why!) but also recreate everyone in-game! (I really wanted to do Dickson as well, but unfortunately there are absolutely zero mustache options that look like his :< There's only one that's even remotely similar, but the face is completely wrong for him (what facial features look like are tied to faces, for some reason; the Mustache Facial Feature creates a different type of mustache depending on which Face option you pick) so there's no way to make a character that looks sufficiently like him, at least to my standards. Maybe one day they'll add one that fits...? If they do I will for sure make Gunbreaker Dickson a reality!) This resulted in me needing to not only sit down for hours in XIV's character creator ensuring every detail was as close a match to their designs as possible, but also opening up 8000 tabs in Eorzea Collection and looking through every. single. last. glamour option. in the game for each. and. every. slot. for each. and. every. character. to find out how closely I could translate their weird (affectionate) XC clothes into weird (affectionate) FF clothes. Combine that with my stubbornness in wanting them to look as accurate as possible resulting in making two different outfits per character based on whether or not they can equip/glam the gear as the job that suits them most, (plus the fact that I'm doing [again, SPOILERS!!!] Mecha-Fiora in addition to Homs!Fiora as well as having three [three!] different job options for Shulk based on varying levels of both XC and XIV spoilers to avoid ruining twists for either game), and the fact that I went a step further and decided to also make alternate-race versions for the main party (that sounds... bad lmao. fantasy races, like elves and catboys and such) like half if-these-characters-were-instead-created-by-the-XIV-designers-in-an-alternate-timeline-what-race-would-they-probably-make-them-judged-by-me-like-their-jobs-on-both-lore-and-Vibes-TM and half if-the-XC-gang-existed-irl-and-played-XIV-what-would-they-make-their-characters-look-like, and reminder that each of these versions have two different outfit variants and each outfit needs a minimum of 4 and a maximum of 7 separate pieces each that also need to be dyed and have multiple different options to try on for every character and... it took a teeeeny bit longer than I was expecting to get through haha. But that's not at all to say it's a chore to get through; it's certainly been a process yes, but I've been having a lot of fun the whole time :) Finally getting every element just right, from all the details in character creation down to their eyebrow shape to finding the best option for every armor slot dyed just the right color, seeing it all come together and actually look quite a bit like the character is so satisfying! I can't wait to share them all, I hope someone out there enjoys the results as much as I did creating them! :) Oh, and I also will be making a glam list for each outfit as well as sharing my notes on what I picked in the character creator, so if you want to do an in-game/WoL cosplay as someone or maybe even make an alt named after one based on my recreation of them then it'll be easy for you! :)

Even though I haven't been keeping up with my fanfic writing as much lately, I do still get little ideas for things quite often and am typing them down in my doc for later! I have a gigantic backlog of things I could write: fanfics long and short, Shulkelia fics and Genfics, non-fanfic concepts both XC-related and not... rest assured, even if I'm not posting on here or Ao3 my mind is always buzzing with something and I'm always wanting to create more!
