I feel fandom would get along a lot better if there was mutual understanding that liking a character, agreeing with a character, and thinking the character is well constructed/executed are all separate (if often overlapping) positions, each with their separate tastes and subjectivities. Also: character portrayals are intended to make the audience feel things; this is separate from (if often overlapping with) analyzing/appreciating their actions and role in the story.

okay, but i need to know how the rf1 and frontier divide works with the time loop theory
Honesty here; my thoughts on the Time Loop usually go from rf1 -> rf2, especially with various headcanons of mine that I would be using [Prime example being this blog supports a 'rf2 Kyle is the son of rf1's Lynette', which makes a 'bad ending' Sechs victory in 1 suddenly open up with a million game 2 possibilities- Antagonist Kyle!]
HOWEVER.
Given how there are a couple different thought paths with 1, Frontier, and the rest of the universe, the Time Loop setup I've made could be super fun? For example;
"Rune Factory ends, Raguna unmarried, and we roll right into Frontier." This seems to be what I think is implied!
"Rune Factory ends, something happens and forces Frontier to happen." My personal choice is to see it this way; the move was not voluntary.
"RF1 and Frontier are the same characters but separate." I've toyed with this before, with how the game barely touches on old things, with how we have to re-meet Mist, Rosetta, Lara, etc- and, well. Given that it's a GAME, made by a company, for a then-new console, it makes sense that the scene is standalone. Which means, one can consider it the story, and rf1 a different starting story.
I could see that Time Loop setup causing all 3 of those to be true, in different versions. 1, we chase Raguna right into Trampoli; 2, we have a brand new Anime Dead Wife opportunity; 3, we keep him out of Kardia altogether, what happens then?
Now that you HAVE me thinking as I type, though...
Given how Frontier, rf3 and rf4 talk so much about the depleting rune energy in the entire damn world, how you are punished so heavily for ignoring that balance in Frontier if you ignore the Runeys.... I think it could be very fun to imagine that Frontier events have to happen.
Stopping the extra depletion of rune energy could give extra time for Aquaticus to work on his area's problem, and also buy Venti a few more years to live as the 4 events are put into place..
Which also leaves some wonderful open doors for "Raguna had to live on the run" theories I've seen (esp from friends of mine) that come from the Ethelberd violence that ramps up between 1 and 4. Earthmates being hunted down and whatnot. Raguna was already chased from Kardia, and Trampoli isn't exactly a fort of safety, especially when Empire eyes have already discovered it... A super tiny town he'd rather have be safe...
So. Maybe Frontier has to be a "Fixed Point" in the universe (NOTE; I don't watch Doctor Who, but I've always recalled that term as it is so useful). We need it to happen. And maybe that means accidentally erasing family happiness from 1 in order to for sure chase the boy into Frontier!
All this being fun speculation, of course, and thank you for the chance to think about it!! As I genuinely had not factored in that game into my thinking!!

@securitybreachdd ( continued from here! )
[This hadn't been a plotted betrayal -- and if anything, Freddy's warped programming had convinced him that Gregory was the one who'd hurt him first. With his "mind" in tatters, there was no possible recourse, and there were no safety parameters. Harming a child he'd once considered his best friend, maybe even a son, no longer seemed out of the realm of possibility -- although he'd hesitated thus far.]
[It'd been limited to psychological torment on both of their ends, with every single one of Gregory's actions furthering the idea that Freddy had been the one betrayed; in actuality, the bear's distinct change in temperament had been what drove the boy away. Of course, it wasn't as though he could recognize that now.]
[All night, the others' intentions had been made abundantly clear; Roxy bullied and degraded Gregory, Chica tried to lure him with honeyed words, and Monty was...well, violent. Freddy's, on the other hand, must have been muddled. Even though he was calling out to Gregory, each word hinging on the friendship they'd once had, he was simultaneously throwing a tantrum, on the verge of tears. His voice broke, but so did the stroller he threw across the room. He wanted to break down into a heap of tears, but something urged him to continue -- pursuing Gregory was his goal.]
[Even he was clueless as to why; he couldn't fathom what he would do if he actually found Gregory, aside from cry.]
[A clattering noise down the hallway stirred him; was that Gregory, perhaps? Had he knocked something over? Against his haywire programming, one thought stuck in the bear's mind -- was he okay?]
[Freddy raced over to the spot with now-intimidating speed, more concerned than frustrated -- only to find the Fazwatch he'd given Gregory mere hours ago.]
Tumblr media
[This could only be taken to mean one thing; it was a surefire sign that Gregory was throwing their friendship away. Freddy meant nothing to his friend anymore. The bear's paws clutched at the Fazwatch, then shook; his new instincts urged him to give chase upon hearing the boy's footsteps, but instead, he collapsed. His shoulders heaved, and he sobbed loud enough for the entire Pizzaplex to hear.]

An appreciative nod, the quick retrieval of the offered napkins: Seok-ju is not by any means clumsy. On the contrary, what with the occasional handicap he tries to hide to the best of his abilities and his propensity for observing first and asking questions later, being clumsy, spilling things, stumbling over himself, a lot more trouble than they're worth, and as such preferably avoided.
But truly, can they be blamed?
It's not every day he gets to sit down and exchange drinks and mindless talks with a detective from a different precinct solely for the sake of... well, drinks and mindless talks? Sure, one might argue, hey, if it weren't for their cities cooperating, and if it weren't for this bizarre sense of necessity attributed to getting along well enough to drink together, who knows if someone like him would have sat down with someone like them.
But they'll take it.
Because it's not every day.
And neither is it every-day they can sit there, wiping at the liquid he'd spilled, glancing upwards at his conversation partner with a knowing smile and the sinking realization that what knowledge is being exchanged here is very much intimately gained: there's no way and alas, there is a way.
Seok-ju wasn't lying: nothing wrong with enjoying the idol industry even from a certain age upward. There are idols, solo artists, as the detective put it as well, that are their age. Hell, most solo artists are.
This would be such an easy topic to prod at, seemingly. Seok-ju drops the used napkins back onto the table, in plain sight to be later tossed away, and takes another sip of what he hadn't spilled.
They try to hide their smile behind a click of their tongue as the taste coats it. That should do it for tonight.
The drinking, not the amusement.
Quite a defensive stance you got there, Lee Hyuk.
Then again... could just be a regular stance to uphold for someone as sunshine-y as the man sitting across from them.
"There are! Definitely," they relax back into their side of the table, slumped shoulders more as a sign of increasing dissent towards the idea of appearing any more proper than he feels, than any indication the alcohol is having an effect on him.
"Rain is one, Boa too if you count first-gen big names. My niece may allow me to know more than I thought ever possible about recent groups, but... nah," a bright smile, one intended to coax the man out of his shell, embrace the life of an uncle fan.
What is there to lose?
Other than his reputation, maybe.
"I like my fair share of groups and solo artists. Ever heard anything by Lee Hi? Her voice is incredible. Though... maybe she's less of an idol and more of... a singer without the usual shebang."
