She’s a musician on her sophomore album, she’s talented and successful, but to act like a woman who has sold over 50 million albums and is currently on one of the most successful tours of all time would be threatened by that is just bizarre.

At this point I’m tired of the vocal stolas stans in the fandom. Hating Blitzø and any of his few remaining fans who don’t go gaga for stolitz they want him to be harmed and punished, they hate Octavia calling her ungrateful or a cockblock and tell anyone who say they have a similar story to hers that they wished they had a dad like those people had if thats true, they hate Stella and her fans, wanting her dead and wanting her fans removed from the fandom entirely, commenting their hate on any piece of her fanart, they hate striker calling him a bigot homophobe and accusing his fans of being racists. They dislike Verosika for standing on the same stage as stolas, even when she’s supporting him, and not letting him have sole focus. Want fizz and Asmodeus to apologise to stolas right away for Ozzies and say the fizzarozzie thing only exists at all for stolitz foreshadowing. And constantly leave hate comments on any Blitzø ship art that isn’t stoliz.

This group of people is not all of them of course, but still massive, the loudest voices, and they are literally making the fandom an unhappier place to be around for the rest of the fans, and it feels like Viv and Brandon are right there with them. It’s like that meme of a child being lifted in the pool while another drowns and there’s a skeleton at the bottom.

The lifted child is stolas fans, then stolitz shippers, and the bottom is the fans of every other character and ship.

Only with a fandom like this could Viv and Brandon manage to get away with the unapologetic, open contempt they have for anyone who doesn't like Stolas or ship Stolitz, even if they sing the praises of every other thing in the show. It's honestly surreal.

Mary: she’s beyhive for sure, as in, has extensive knowledge on everything beyoncé. Got into Taylor Swift because of Lily. Those two def had a 1D phase together. Likes Pink Pantheress and some Halsey, got into chappel roan bcs of Marlene. She likes most of the main pop girls (ariana, dula peep, olivia…) she’s an overall fun person, so her music taste reflects that.

Lily: HEAVY on Taylor swift and harry styles. as before mentioned, she had a 1D phase along with Mary (she was a Niall girl). Had the inevitable not like other girls phase when she got into Lorde, the 1975, arctic monkeys and halsey (it’s a canon event we can’t intervene). Got over her internalised misogyny and became a swiftie, amen🙏🏻

Charlie Walker’s music taste | headcannons

Just some of my opinions on music I think Charlie would listen to. Just some short stuff while I’m home sick with covid :(

• starting off super easy he would 100% have a full playlist of his favorite songs from horror movies.

• I feel like he’d listen to Metallica, but like only a handful of songs, he’d definitely get called a poser by annoying metalheads 😭

• I like to think he’d be fairly versatile in his music taste, branching out into a lot of alternative music subgenres

• Charlie religiously listens to The Cure you’re not changing my mind (not because I love the cure or anything..😃)

• he frequents goth&goth rock but also grunge ????

• he loves Nirvana & branched out into Foo Fighters because of Dave Grohl

• really likes Hole’s music but is conflicted because of Courtney Love

• he’s not a huge fan of nu metal but enjoys Deftones for sure!!

• not a pierce the veil stan per say, but he did scream cry to “bulletproof love” when dealing with his first heartbreak

•He’s 100% the type who loves the music but knows absolutely nothing about the band with the exception of a handful of bands.

Sharandy my beloved,, oh how I’ve missed drawing these two together again (even though it wasn’t that long since I’ve last drawn them). Guess I just can’t quit these two.

Had the urge to draw these two again because I'm so sick and tired of seeing so much discourse and detractors about them as a couple on TikTok and YouTube. I’ve recently stumbled onto some edits of them getting a divorce, and while I respect others opinions on Sharon settling with a better man- y’all acting like Randy can’t get his act together and act like a normal husband towards her, which he’s done during the series like multiple times 💀

Though for the most part, I kinda blame the flanderization of him in recent years for this, especially with that one recent special where he bodyshames her, like, what the literal hell was that nonsense? I hate it sm, Randy would never do that 😣

My apologies if I sound like a broken record for saying this for the 200th time, Ik these two are an imperfect couple, but that’s what I like about ‘em. They don’t always act like a mushy, lovey-dovey, squeaky-clean, Disney-esque couple (not a jab at Disney couples, I live and breathe them, but you get my point). Both of them have their flaws like quarreling and bickering and that’s what makes their relationship realistic, because, newsflash, some irl couples act like that too. If their relationship were sunshine and rainbows all the time, then it would just be boring to watch. They’ve had plenty of moments to prove that they have a decent marriage. One of my DA friends said this a while back and I fully agree with them; a couple with their ups and downs is a lot better than a toxic marriage happening every single episode.

And at least Randy doesn’t treat Sharon awfully 24/7, cheats on her with other people, married her solely for her looks, or told her that he hates being with his kids. And imo they’re a healthier couple then the other parents like Staurt and Carol and Stephen and Linda don’t @ me plz-

So sorry if I went off on yet another tangent, I’m just your average online yapper who gets unnecessarily defensive over my fav fictional characters 💅🏾✨

My silly rant out of the way, when I was younger I had this habit of inserting my favorite franchises into random fairytales. I don’t know why I did it so much, I just liked the concept of it. I’ve done it with Mario, Banjo-Kazooie and Cuphead, now I’m doing it with South Park. The theme I wanted to go for was Red Riding Hood after binge watching those “Dark origins of your childhood fairytales” videos, bumping into some other fairytale AUs on here for some inspo, and listening to Monster by Lady Gaga and Won’t Bite by Doja Cat one too many times.

Wanted to go for a stylish but sultry look for Riding Hood!Sharon, and as for Werewolf!Randy I definitely went full on furry on him in this picture. I am not sorry at all. Now I just kinda picture some scenarios where he acts like an actual dog. Like, Sharon has him on a leash and takes him on walks, sprays him with a spray bottle anytime he starts actin’ up, or giving him some weed to calm him down when he enters feral mode. Randy is also very loyal and protective of his wifey, and will not hesitate to bite, scratch (and probably kill) you if you lay a finger on her. Also like the idea of him enjoying being scratched behind the ears and getting belly rubs haha

And I had a thought of having Stan playing the role of the huntsman, ‘cause I think it would be adorbs for him to help out his mama <3

BL Streaming - Which Service is Worth Your Money?

I’m bored and I have a little extra time this morning so it’s time for ABL to play with the spreadsheet of doom. 

Occasionally I get the question: 

If I were to subscribe to only one platform for BL which should I pick? 

This post is dated May 2023. 

First things first. I am going to be (somewhat) objective about this and not judge on quality of content. Because if KinnPorsche is all you love in life, obvs you need iQIYI, but if you are a HIStory franchise stan, than it’s all about Viki. Those are your life choices, I’m just here to play numbers games, okay? 

Secondly, some shows air on multiple platforms, particularly Viki & Gaga, but sometimes it’s Gaga & YouTube, occasionally it’s even iQIYI + others. This has only started happening in the last few years. Bed Friend was on 3 different platforms (GaGa, iQIYI, YT) - even though it was originally announced for Viki! I honestly don’t know how to track this, so I tend to log the spreadsheet with my preferred watching platform for that language, this will throw the numbers off for those platforms. 

Since I join everything my platform preference choice is based on:  

the quality of the subs/captions   

the quality of the user experience  

My subs experience tends to be: 

YT = best for Thai

Viki = best for Korean and sometimes Japanese, okay for Thai

Gaga = best for Chinese and sometimes Japanese but very weak Thai subs

My user interface preference is: 

YT, Viki, Gaga in that order then everyone else with iQIYI at the bottom. This is because I watch on mobile devices. 

ASplay, WeTV, former Line, Amarin TV, Netflix and the other smaller suppliers (and apps) will all be grouped together for this assessment. Since they have so few offerings, by default I would not recommend subbing those platforms unless you are a hard stan of all BL with disposable income. 

Super bad BLs that I watched back in the day on grey sites or YT (pre 2020 crack down) because there were no other options and I am a completest are still listed as grey. I would never suggest anyone watch these shows anyway, so I don’t care if they have now shown up on legitimate sites. If they are somewhere, it’s likely Gaga. Which means Gaga’s percentage of the market share is probably UNDER reported by my numbers. 

Movies and cinema-only releases that never got international distribution fall into the “grey” category. If I got it off an indie subber, since that too is technically illegal, it falls into the grey category as well. 

Final note: This is from a USA based IP, I don’t use a VPN, so platforms assessments are from that perspective.

Viki = 30%

Okay but how about actual runtime? 

Gaga = 360 hrs - 44% 

Viki = 311 hrs - 38% 

iQIYI = 98 hrs - 12% 

Sml sites = 50 hrs - 6%

Anyway you cut it... on pure BL standards...

GAGAOOLALA WINS 

Other consideration? In most places Gaga is ALSO the cheapest per month option. 

Final Thoughts

YouTube (America’s Alphabet) 

YT has the most pieces of content and longest overall runtime because of all the Thai stuff. ALSO bootlegs show up there, especially the early Chinese and Japanese stuff. They will often get taken down and you have to hunt for it again. YT takedowns come in waves, every 6 months or so.

However, GMMTV, some Star Hunter, some Studio Wabi Sabi, all the Vietnamese & Pinoy stuff (until now), and a few choice bits of Strongberry are YT content.

YT’s app is the best UX of a poor set (for me), but the web based YT at Premium level doesn’t work with Firefox. I use YT for work A LOT, so the fee for Premium ($13.99) and lack of ads + downloads (travel) is worth it for me, but I think it probubly isn’t if you’re on a budget. 

GaGaOOLaLa (Taiwan’s Portico Media) 

Of the pay to play platforms, GaGa dominates with the most BLs by all metrics. If you’re intersted in darker BL, GL and other queer content, very high heat, the history of the genre, or Japanese stuff - most of that is on GaGa. Also all of Strongberry and some of the newer queerer series (like My Ride).  

At $6.99 a month it’s ALSO one of the cheapest options. 

Gaga is based out of Taiwan, the only Asian country with marriage equality (as of 2022) AND it specializes in exclusively queer content so they need our support. If you can afford them, you should support them. GaGa is the only platform that will always have more BL, guaranteed (so long as Taiwan is autonomous). Ironically, you can follow their YT channel for previews and teasers to their latest series, short content, and acquisitions. 

Their app isn’t great, but their web-based interface is fine. That said: there’s no categories (way to organize), and the way they roll out new episodes is unintuitive. Their mobile app ALWAYS pauses not mater what you actually want it to do and the lack of the quick skip ahead is frustrating. 

Viki (Japan’s Rakutan)

Viki specializes in longer series, mostly Thai, Taiwanese, and a few of the Chinese bromances. It also now has a lot of KBLs. But in general only more recent stuff (2018 is as far back as they go).

At $4.99-$11.99 depending, it’s low to average cost. I’m not sure which one (if any) you actually need for BL. Most of my favorite new shows tend to air on Viki, and I like Rakutan as a parent company, so I don’t mind supporting them. 

They happen to have 5 of my top ten BLs, which is A LOT (since I hand out 10/10 so rarely). So for me they host the objective best BL content. 

They have the second best app (after YT, it’s kinda a combo of YT + Netflix) but the lack of a speed-up option is frustrating for many. Also the desktop version is super buggy. But they DO have categories you can name and control, which I love.

Other Platforms 

iQIYI - is Mainland China based (hello Baidu, you ugly fucker), so the platform getting/pimping BL for an international audience only is… how do I put this?… oh yeah: shitty. I will often rename it Icky, for this reason. It clearly wants to break the market, but… do we want it in the market at all? How long will they host BLs? When will they be shut down and censored? I would say it’s only worth it if you really also like Chinese dramas. And even so, Viki also has A LOT of those. Unfortunately for us, Wabi Sabi seems to have cut a distribution deal with Icky. And, of course, there is the KinnPorsche situation (so ironic that Icky hosts the highest heat). The interface is a nightmare. They have the WORST app, even when you pay, it serves ads, some of which alpha crash the platform. 

Netflix - here in the states it almost never has new BL content. Sometimes some old stuff. They tested the waters with SOTUS and Love Sick. I have a feeling they aren’t particularly intersted in this market. So if BL is what you watch, don’t bother. At last check they still had Gameboys and Your Name Engraved Herein and Wish You. 

WeTV - acts like LineTV used to, has Manner of Death and We Best Love and a few of the more obscure Thai pulps. But probably not worth it for anyone but a completest. 

Grey - Unknown or No Distributor 

Indie subbers: there’s some BLs that you can watch by supporting indie subbers who supply private links to their personal versions. This is not legal, but it is a slightly nicer way to get stuff you can’t find anywhere else. I’ve done this for some Thai and Japanese stuff.

I find the leads for these sources here on Tumblr. If someone is giffing and talking about a show and I don’t know how they are getting hold of it, I simply ask.

DramaCool (USA) & Dailymotion (France) & Bilibili (China) and others - AKA the grey space. You SHOULD feel guilty using these sites, you’re stealing, but it’s where many of us go for BL we can’t find anywhere else (in defiance of what few morals we have left). These are BLs that originally sold to very odd platforms or never got international distribution. Unfortunately, some of my favorites are in this category like Great Men Academy or Seven Days. It’s a nightmare. The ads are terrible and the virus/bug risk is high. They get taken down all the time. Or the leads are faked. I use an old computer to access and suggest you take all necessary precautions yourself.

P’ABL SOAP BOX TIME

Look I work tangential to the entertainment industry, so if you thought I wasn’t going to learn you a little on this subject, you got another think coming. 

HERE’S THE THING: 

You watch a show on one of the grey platforms, ESPECIALLY if it actually has distribution on Gaga or Viki - you better review that shit. You spread the word and advocate for that content here, on MDL, on social media, with fan art, I don’t care. You steal it, you find a way to pay back in your time and/or creativity. 

I get it if you’re poor, but don’t be a goddamn scab. Find a way to reward content creators with non-monetary support. If you had the time to watch the thing you stole, you have time to pay it forward in some substantial way. Do this even if you didn’t steal it but got it for free. Do this if you read fanfic. Do this with articles, blogs, books. Do this with podcasts. 

It isn’t hard to be a decent human and support creators. Don’t you dare just TAKE. If you’re that kind of person stop reading this blog immediately. I don’t want anything to do with you and you don’t deserve my words or my spreadsheet of Doom.

Silly little karaoke night headcanons bc i have strong opinions on the simplest things 

Tweek: does surprisingly well with karaoke. his anxiety takes a backseat when it’s time to perform. picks really difficult songs to show off his range; will go with a musical option if he wants to throw in a bit of acting. has about a 50/50 chance of getting craig to perform a duet with him. they usually pick a goofy song for their duets over a romantic one though. 

Craig: the tequila song. every. single. turn. and he doesn’t let them skip his turn either. because he’s an asshole. he’ll put a little effort into singing when he duets with tweek. 

Clyde: Number one weird al yankovic fan when it comes to picking songs to sing. knows he’s kinda bad at singing and leans into it. 

Tolkien: picks songs from tiktok trends and does the dances to them while kyle records. everybody else makes it a goal to ruin the video.

Jimmy: Enormous Penis by Da Vinci's Notebook. 

Stan: like tweek, he also picks songs to show off his range, mostly with heavy metal vocals. gets really into it with headbanging and everything. uses a few of his turns to duet with kyle.

Kyle: i have to say it; he always picks AJR songs. listen...look into your heart and you know it’s true. on the plus side he absolutely kills it at World’s Smallest Violin. it’s this and Weezer. sings duets with stan and tolkien 

Kenny: ♫ ~I’m a barbie girl, in a barbie wooooorld~ ♫

Butters: picks a wide variety of songs, ranging from pop to indie to screamo to light metal. always sings Hello Kitty by Avril Lavigne at least once every karaoke night and always does at least one duet with kenny

Will your character Carter be back for more seasons?

I leave my options open. I like that. We’ll just have to see exactly what happens with Carter. I’d always like to come back for more, absolutely. I had no expectations or ideas when I went into audition for this role that it was going to be kept around or expand into something like this. I like the show and I’m grateful for it.

What would be your dream role?

I’m really lucky that I’ve got to do theatre in the past, I’m always looking to come back and doing some monster role on the stage at some point, that would be really cool. I can’t wait to see Jude Law in Hamlet, those things seem like such epic ideas, but they’re not. They’re not impossible. I realise a lot of people that do those – and I read up and they’re equally as scared. They’re just driven to do it. Ideally I’d love to do something of that calibre, that size. For theatre you have to be mentally and physically up to the part.

Would you ever consider a music career like girlfriend Leighton?

I’m just gonna keep that for karaoke, I think. I love karaoke. I’m some sort of closet wannabe Guns ’n’ Roses member that wasn’t born in the right time. I don’t know about music, its fun but maybe I’d like to try songwriting or producing or directing. It’d be fun to be able to call the shots on the projects you want to work on.

Did you get to meet Lady Gaga and Hilary Duff when they did cameos on Gossip Girl?

No I was never really around because my scenes never paralleled with theirs.

Which celeb would make a great cameo in the show?

Someone controversial, someone like Molly Ringwald.

Are you jealous your character wasn’t involved in the much hyped threesome this series?

No I didn’t care.

Which character would you like to see Carter hook up with?

I think ideally I would definitely want to act opposite Blair. She’s a really great character.

Do you enjoy fame?

Like Al Pacino would say: I didn’t ask to pull the trigger, but this is the business I chose. It’s in your brain for about five seconds but energy is required in much more important ways.

Have you ever been mistaken for another celeb?

I used to be picked on high school. People were like ‘you look Jason Priestly!’

Do you feel pressure to stay in shape for Gossip Girl?

I think it’s good for an actor to keep in shape for any project. Often it’s required. Actors are athletes in a way, I learnt that in college. It’s fun and it helps you feel good.

What do you do when you’re not working?

New York is a very rich environment. Acting is a pretty unconventional life, you’re always working, in a way. You can relax and go and see a movie, but I always see a performance that inspires me. Or sitting eating and you observe people and characters. Work creeps i0n. I listen to music, I like trying new restaurants things like that.

If you weren’t an actor what would you be doing?

I think I’d make toys. Yeah, I always loved that movie Big where he works for the toy company!

Nicki knowingly married a convicted rapist and sex offender and protected her brother against statutory rape allegations. Gaga worked with R Kelly when there were already industry wide suspicions of him being a pedophile. Yet their fans are the loudest and at the forefront of cancelling Taylor for dating supposedly the worst human being on Earth. This has blown up because Twitter stans like virtue signalling as a way to play tit for tat with their so called rival stans. They are misusing serious terms and words in the most insensitive and frivolous of ways. There are REAL Nazis in the world. REAL Islamaphobes, REAL and dangerous racists. Matty isn’t one of them. He’s a dirtbag leftist who’s got a lesson on how his own privilege blinds him despite positioning himself as anti-racist, pro-women and pro-LGBTQ his whole career. There are honest and reasonable ways of critiquing him without veering into the complete unhinged behaviour I’ve seen in the last 2 weeks.

I’ve fallen out of reading fanfiction, mostly because I’ve been burned by it too many times. Even the authors I figured I could trust to not be sexist or homophobic would have some stupid line snuck in that feels like a way to say “don’t worry, everyone, I’m a follower of genderism!”. But I’m always happy for ladies who’ve managed to find things that work for them!

I think it’s really stupid to assume that a lesbian is actually straight or bi because she enjoys M/M content. I find that lesbians are held under such scrutiny with every single thing we do, in a way that gay men are not. For example, if a gay man stans Lady Gaga, nobody assumes that he’s actually bi/straight and is attracted to her. But if a lesbian stans some male celebrity or character, it’s assumed that she wants to fuck him. Which is very insulting to women, this idea that we’d only pay attention to a celeb/character if we want to fuck them. Because it implies that we’re not capable of just enjoying somebody’s artistry, or the complexity of a character the same way men are.

Personally, I’m not watching or reading things just to be horny? Okay, I’ll admit to sometimes rewatching First Kill just so I can thirst over Elinor lol, but that’s not the only reason I watch it. I genuinely love the show, the hot evil woman is just a bonus. There’s so much more to experiencing a work than just being attracted to the people/characters in it. And again, I think it’s incredibly offensive when people imply that women aren’t capable of experiencing that full range of emotions and thoughts—that our interest must start and end at sexual attraction.

And all of this applies to fanfiction. I’m just focusing on the person aspect because like I said, I haven’t read fanfiction in a long while.

Now, are there women in fandom who call themselves lesbians but clearly aren’t? Absolutely, and they drive me crazy. But it’s not just because they’re reading M/M fan fiction. It’s because they’re posting about how much they want to fuck some guy because “he’s my one exception!”. In that case, I’d hope we can all agree that that is not a lesbian. Or on the slightly less obnoxious side, they’re talking about male celebs/characters in a way that clearly shows they’re coming from a place of sexual attraction (I’ve actually seen this in particular more from self-proclaimed “asexual” women than self-proclaimed “lesbians”. They claim they’re some form of “aspec”, then start raving about a man the same way a straight or bi woman would. Nothing wrong with that, but be honest with yourselves ffs).

But if you’re just reading M/M fan fiction because you’re invested in male characters and want to see them happy? That has nothing to do with sexuality. And anyone who claims it does needs to reassess why they believe that women are so shallow that we can’t enjoy anything that we aren’t horny over.

So I watched Joker Folie à Deux…

I really enjoyed it actually.

Was very skeptical going in because of all the negative reviews and comments but… I left it feeling… something.

I was worried about the run time & holding my attention, but I actually found myself strangely hooked the whole time. Sure, it dragged a little, but it didn’t feel long in a dreadful way.

I think the first half of songs worked, the second not so much. The scenes were the musical numbers were clearly fantasy with the sets and full production were really good, the awkwardly singing to themselves numbers not so much.

The film very much flitters between reality and fantasy and makes you feel a little delirious in the process, making you question what parts are real or not.

I really enjoyed Lee’s character. I’m a Gaga stan tho, so I’m admittedly biased when she’s in a scene lol.

There are some scenes that are harrowing. That’s putting it lightly. I had tears in my eyes by the end.

I can see why people would hate it, but I also am entitled to my own opinion and I really enjoyed it.

Does it have rewatch factor? For me, probably not, but that doesn’t make it bad.

Either way, I would recommend it to someone to watch, but forewarn them that it isn’t an easy watch. Not because it’s bad, but because it’s very gritty, dark and very very very uncomfortable. And I think that’s the point.

For 2025, as a tae stan I want him build a brand for himself, right now he's the quirky handsome guy from BTS,, even though his album performed really well his vocals are still largely underappreciated.

Like rest of the BTS members already have a solid identity: suga is the dope producer who writes beautiful lyrics, hobi is a fashionista/great dancer and rapper, rm has his identity as the level head guy who raps and appreciates art, jimin is the guy with angel voice and amazing dance, jk is the golden maknae/asian popstar(who wants to go global) but taehyung is still somehow stuck with the fickle perception of being weird, kind, handsome guy. Jin is stuck with the goofy hyung who shines in run BTS.

You know that I have listed what I think, I think both tae and Jin(waiting for his album) need to build better and more solid brand for themselves as artists.

You know, I’m kind of surprised that as a tae stan you would say something like this, I’m surprised you think all people know about him is him being “quirky”.

He’s the only good baritone in the industry, got widely appreciated for it, he’s the reason the fandom is as big as it is right now (duplicated it with DNA, triplicated it with Dynamite), kmedias got a new name for him every single day, he’s the idol of idols and global stars love and appreciate him (Jon Batiste, Lady Gaga?), and he’s known as someone who loves and appreciates Jazz, so I’m surprised that you think he didn’t make a name for himself, that his only known qualities are him being… quirky? Like every quality you associated with a member can easily be associated to Taehyung as well.
