i couldnt get enough of the ninjago monster high au i and @lonleyzodiac made so we made an ever after high au as well

the characters are all the sons and daughters of fairy tales with their elemental powers being tied moreso towards their heritages rather than anything else

the parents are more loosely based on the fairytale characters they stand in for tbh anyways characters under the cut

in no particular order, here’s some characters + their alignments (royal (will/wants to follow in the footsteps (destinies) of their parents) or rebel (will not follow their destinies), they’re all standins but not direct remakes of the EAH characters:

lloyd garmadon (rebel) - son of garmadon (or the evil king i guess)

nya hearts (rebel) - daughter of the knave and queen of hearts (intended to follow the destiny of the knave of hearts (being put on trial and punished for a crime she didn’t commit))

kai hearts (rebel (former royal)) - son of the knave and queen of hearts (intended to follow the destiny of the queen of hearts (becoming king of wonderland))

cole brookstone (rebel (former royal)) - son of the big bad wolf

jay hatter (rebel (former royal)) - son of the mad hatter

zane julien (rebel) - son of dr julien, or the snow king

geo hood (rebel) - son of robin hood (ran away to ever after high because of the stuff that went down)

pixal (rebel) - adopted daughter of eros

harumi cheshire (royal (but doesn’t like to admit it)) - daughter of the cheshire cat

sora white (royal) - daughter of snow white

arin kingsley (royal) - son of alice (he has no idea if his mum is still alive or still in wonderland or anything)

euphrasia charming (royal) - daughter of prince charming (standin for darling charming)

percival charming (royal) - son of prince charming (standin for daring charming, he constantly went after sora who was just not into him until he met arin)

echo julien (rebel) - a pinocchio-like character cursed to become a villain in his destiny (he’s cursed to become mr. e)

scott thorne (rebel (former royal)) - son of the dark fairy (clarification: in this au scott acts nothing like faybelle, he’s an absolute sweetheart in this don’t worry)

jordana jester (royal) - daughter of the joker card

vania beauty (rebel (former royal)) - daughter of sleeping beauty

akita blanc (royal) - daughter of the white rabbit

morro huntsman (rebel) - son of the huntsman (snow white)

wyldfyre (rebel) - daughter of beauty (beauty and the beast)

jacob piper (pevsner) (rebel) - son of the pied piper

nadakhan (royal) - son of captain hook

sky pirates (all royals) - children of captain hook’s crew

tox breadhouse (rebel) - daughter of the candy witch (hansel and gretel)

chamille swan (royal) - daughter of the swan queen

gale goldilocks (gossip) (royal) - daughter of goldilocks

cinder redford (rebel) - son of the red queen (not to be confused with the queen of hearts) (people think he’s the son of cinderella) (he’s not)

first headmaster (nickname for the first spinjitzu master) - just the first spinjitzu master, headmaster of ever after high

wu - FSM’s son, resident man-trapped-in-the-library-and-forced-to-speak-riddlish of the AU

garmadon - lloyd’s father, the evil king, wu’s brother and FSM’s son

the ships in this au (i always have to include ships i’m sorry /hj) are: technoshipping (jay x zane), lostshipping (cole x geo), citrus/deadbolt(?)shipping (echo x morro), royalshipping(?) (vania x harumi) and windtech/typewriter (sora x euphrasia) + not really a ship but percival having a massive one-sided crush on arin (who is completely oblivious to said obvious crushing)

most character last names are carried over from ever after high btw

List of AUs time!

Main Ninjago AU- It’s literally just Ninjago but with my headcanons, the characters actually act traumatized, and it takes place in between Crystallized and the Merge. Random shenanigans I come up with happen here (like if I ever make comics). Dragon’s Rising is the future and the designs are different.

Golden Hope AU- There was this video on YouTube I saw called “alternate ninjago timelines” and one of them was if Kai took the fang blade instead of Lloyd during episode 10. Lloyd dies and Kai somehow doesn’t explode in the volcano, and for some reason he’s the green ninja now. Don’t ask why.

Eventually he defeats Garmadon (he kinda sorta 💀’d him-) and Misako tells him “erm actually the ‘dark lord’ from the prophecy was the Overlord ☝🏼🤓” so now he tries to defeat the Overlord but gets tricked and possessed by him, and takes over Ninjago. Womp womp.

Except not because a girl named Jenny from Imperium falls into Ninjago like 4 years later due to one of her classmates accidentally creating a portal to Ninjago and she has a magic flashlight that the First Spinjitzu Master gave her somehow. Just like Kai surviving the volcano don’t question it 👍🏼. She finds the other ninja and they set out to defeat the Overlord. Yes this is a fanfic that has 13 chapters and no I am not done with it yet so I ain’t posting it here or on Wattpad any time soon.

Raging Fire AU- Saw some fanart that had Kai with the Samadhi Fire from LMK so I thought “ooo AU idea!”

Basically Ignatius (first fire master) was a hothead and didn’t like it so he made a fire purely out of his anger to get rid of it but whoops it turns out this gets passed on with the fire powers so if one of the fire elemental masters gets too mad they summon the fire and turn into an angry fire monster.

The au is based on Kai unlocking the fire after a shitty day fighting off The Mechanic and Jay stealing the last cookie. Cole’s the only one strong enough to stop him so if he goes apeshit he’s the one to help him out.

(This was totally not an excuse for me to write a Lava fanfic… *cough*)

Cole Jr. AU- AU where baby Wu was actually just a random baby and Cole adopts him (actual Wu was found by Misako and the resistance during Hunted). Yes he is officially named Cole Jr (he goes by CJ).

CJ just hangs out with his dad or gets babysat by other characters during the rest of the show and during DR he’s like 8 or 9. He fell in TLOLT with Cole and was raised with the finders, Bonzle, and Geo. The end.

Earthbound AU- Pretty self explanatory. Heard the idea from someone’s tumblr post (I forgot whose, sorry!) and thought “I wanna do this, but make it another Lava fanfic!”

It’s Seabound but Nya = Cole and Jay = Kai. The end.

Movie Actor AU- Really, really self explanatory. It’s the movie, but everyone is an actor.

This au gives an excuse for a reason for why everyone’s personality is different. It’s because the director of the movie wanted the characters to be a bit more like their actors. Speaking of which, here are their names:

I thought of this really funny gag where the actor for Zane is named Cole, and during the first couple of times they were recording, whenever someone would say “Cole” (as in the character), both Cole and Nick would react.

A Ninjago Heathers AU Idea

I adore Heathers with my whole soul(candy store, meant to be yours, dead girl walking and seventeen all ended up on my top songs of 2023 playlist for context), and I love ninjago with my whole soul(70k words of fics in my Google docs, so many hours spent reading and drawing for it, and multiple cosplays), so naturally I want to combine them. But I(probably)don’t have the patience for writing all that, so the skeleton of it is landing here

Dead Girl Walking would play out differently specifically because I hc Lloyd as hella ace. It still ends in him and Rumi becoming official, but no sex

Blue would also play out differently since Nya is taken(yes by Jay) and Skylor just had her bf(?) die. They would try to convince him to do stuff with a girl(probably Akita but it doesn’t really matter), and when he refuses they spread a rumor that he said no because he’s gay. Cue Rumi using an uno reverse card in Our Love is God(idk maybe a mention about how they both are queer but the world doesn’t love them for who they are and people saying stuff like that are the problem?)

Dead Gay Son could go whatever way you want, but I would probably have it be about scruffshipping(Dareth/Ronin) because I hc Ronin as becoming Nya’s functional uncle post season 5

The dead trio would have a lot more dynamics with each other, considering there’s a pair of best friends, a couple(?), and a pair of siblings(something something Kai and Nya could have been the older siblings Lloyd never had something something)

I definitely could see Dareth leading shine a light. Seems like a very in-character thing for him to do.

Give me Jay having a breakdown over how he rides the bus because all his rides to school are dead. Give me Jay singing lifeboat. Give me Lloyd stopping Jay from doing that one thing in the bathroom. I need it. I NEED it.

The kindergarten boyfriend was Lloyd. He didn’t die, but he has so strongly left Brad behind that in his eyes he might as well have. This also makes the line “I’m so sorry” sooo much worse

Is 90% of this au just for the last 5 songs? Absolutely. They just fit the Llorumi dynamic. Like Lloyd realizes that she is crazy and her being stopped is far more than their relationship being saved. Does Lloyd wish they could have work out? Yes. Does he still try to save her until the very last second? Yes. Is there remorse from both parties? Yes. But in the end she's “beaten fair and square” and dies, and there isn’t a shoved in rushed redemption arc I’m looking at you Crystalized you butchered my girl.

New Pinned Post Time

Hey y’all figure it was time I did a brand new pinned post rather then just editing the old one repeatedly lol

Anyway! I’m Captain! Or Cap, or Cappy, or capula, or Cappybara, or whatever other nickname you could possibly extrapolate out of that (Most people default to Cap though). I’m (almost) 20 years old, I use they/them pronouns, and I’m nonbinary + bisexual! Also my favorite color is purple :3

I’ve been in and around fandom spaces for a over a decade at this point but haven’t really participated in any until recently! Currently my main fandom is Ninjago but I’ve been known to partake in like a bajillion other things.

I’ve got four different ninjago AU’s at the moment in various stages in development. My main AU is Wayward Son, which is the entire show rewritten based on the concept of “What if Lloyd was a baby in season 1?” My co-writer, @carmelo-san, and I have roughly planned out all the way to Dragons Rising season 1! I’ve got a few fics for it up on my ao3 and more on the way soon!

The other big ninjago project I’m working on at the moment is a collaboration with @finn-m-corvex, but that one’s a secret teehee <3

Howdy! I've been dying to know I'd anybody has recognized Morro's cursed eye marks in your LMK au, and what their reactions are!

This is genuinely such a cool concept, and I love the art you made for it!

Honestly I keep legitimately forgetting which stuff I’ve posted about the au and which stuff I still have stuffed away in my notes. Because I feel like I have everything out here but I can’t remember? Uhhhh

Okay so while the marks would definitely give him away to certain people, it’s moreso that Morro has a kinda vibe around him that powerful beings can pick up on. The really enlightened or well-versed ones can pinpoint specifically what his deal is (and by that I very, very specifically mean the fact that he’s died before), while the vast majority of them would only be able to pick up on Morro giving off weird vibes.

Morro is similar to Macaque in that he gives off slight dead vibes, except Morro’s is increased, due to him having such heavy involvement with the afterlife and being a ghost and departed and stuff.

The markings give him away as a Cursed spirit specifically, however it’s not a major blaring red flag like Morro thinks it is here; in Ninjago, it’s different and much more widely recognized, but in the LMK universe only a select portion of people can recognize those markings right off the bat like that.

Not super powerful beings will just get a faint weird vibe from Morro but can’t really pinpoint what it is, and honestly, would rarely be able to realize that they’re noticing anything different at all. More powerful beings can detect that he’s got something going on, and that he reeks of death and the afterlife, but won’t always make the connection that Morro has actually died in the past and was resurrected. Last tier is that some beings would be able to pinpoint specifically that Morro used to be a spirit, departed from the realm of the living, etc, etc. That he died before. And add onto that that he used to be a malicious spirit, aka his soul was kinda condemned.

It has levels to it and I know I’m rambling sorry lol.

Low-level demons like Jin and Yin, or the spider demons, would just get weird vibes from him. Nothing super noticeable. Spider Queen, PIF, DBK—they would definitely be able to tell that Morro reeks of death. Red Son can tell too, they just. Don’t make that connection lmao. He doesn’t care enough to and I love them for it.

Now Wukong can absolutely tell that Morro used to be dead, he just has the decency not to say shit until the amnesia episode at least, heh heh. LBD and the Mayor can 100% tell that Morro used to be dead and even a Cursed soul. Macaque can tell that Morro used to be dead, but can’t sense the Cursed bit super well. Nezha can also totally tell that Morro was a former damned spirit.

MK…MK is a unique situation in that I’m sure he’d be able to tell that Morro used to be dead and all that, however he also can’t? Only because he doesn’t really know what to look for to begin with. So he can’t exactly sense some weird vibe he isn’t even familiar with.

And we all already know MK isn’t always the best when it comes to noticing things, haha.

Tang actually gets a bit suspicious when Morro’s markings are revealed in season 3! But not because of recognizing them, moreso of the fact that Morro hid them on purpose and that they kinda look…sinister in appearance. That’s it.

Pigsy and Sandy deadass just think it’s some kind of birthmark at first I kid you not

Mei doesn’t ask because she wouldn’t care what the markings meant, it wouldn’t change her friendship with Morro. They’re just some cool looking marks to her, she doesn’t press Morro for details and would not care either way. I love her dearly.

MK straight up just doesn’t notice for a while, they just think that it’s some new makeup or something

I’ve got a Ninjago x SCP crossover comic that I’ve been working on for months and it’s only about half way done. Midway through, I had life situations come up that slowed down progress along with artistic burnout but I’ve worked on this far too long to just leave it on the back burner so after listening to some of you lovelies, I’m going to go ahead and bite the bullet and post what I got so far. For those of you who replied/reblogged to my last post, thank you :*- ) 

One page at a time…a week. (At least that’s the plan)

Beware, this comic is going to get dark in some parts! We’re talking blood, gore (well as gory as little brick men can get...) body horror, abuse will be shown in some pages but I’ll make sure to have warnings and place them under ‘read more’.

Now this SCP Ninjago AU is not my original idea, it actually belongs to @breathlessmorro. I checked with them first to make sure I can make some bodacious gruesomeness too. Breathless! I’m so sorry my dude for how long this is taking! But seriously, go check them out. They got a lot of cool headcannons and I, being the sci-fi, horror-loving weirdo that I am, couldn’t resist conjuring up some art.

This comic in particular is going to heavily revolve around Cyrus Borg and The Preeminent or as known in this AU as “Dr. P” with some minor appearances of other characters.

I’m still getting likes on my SCP fanarts to this day and it’s really inspiring to keep on going. Thanks guys, you don’t know how much this means to me. <3

decided to post some of my ideas for a ninjago/atla au besties. tell me whatcha think

some background first…

here, the first spinjitzu master is smth that doesn’t actually exist in avatar bc i couldn’t for the life of me figure out what to make him so now he’s like… he’s basically the child of all the original benders: the badgermoles, the sky bison, the dragons, and the moon spirit combined. he was born of their powers, and he was the first avatar, kinda like this au’s version of raava i guess?? so this au’s version of vaatu is the overlord, and like in ninjago, they have this never-ending rivalry. and the overlord is an avatar, too, but more of a dark one. it only cares about corruption and evil.

the first bending master, as he’s called in this au, manages to banish the overlord into the spirit realm, but he knew that one day, it would return. so he creates a land called ninjago and fills it with people of all kinds, each corner of the world having one type of bending. he gave the humans bending, but only one type for each person.

he didn’t want a repeat of the overlord.

so then he has two sons: wu and garmadon. he hemmed and hawed over what elements to give to them, but eventually he chose. wu gets airbending, the element of life and serene and calm. garmadon gets firebending, rough and harsh and the element of destruction. his fire is violet and incredibly hot.

everything goes fine, and the first bending master manages to keep balance of the world as its avatar. except the overlord does indeed return.

garmadon gets corrupted by its spirit and is bitten by the great devourer. he becomes obsessed with power and wanted to be the avatar more than anything in life. he believes that his father was holding his powers back because he didn’t trust him. and he believes that his father was going to hand over his power to wu after he died. and he couldn’t have that.

wu notices his downward spiral and suggests that he take a trip to visit the mortals. maybe that would help him realize that there is reason for their father being the only avatar in the world.

so garmadon goes down into the mortal plane. and meets fire lord chen and his second in command clouse.

fire lord chen is quite interested in an old legend of what is called the serpentine: ancient tribes of snake people said to have been born from the hatred and despair of the overlord, led by the toughest and the greatest, the great devourer. chen wants to bring these serpentine back, and at first garmadon agrees to help him, if only to get revenge on his father.

but he snaps out of it, because he realizes that its the great devourer’s fault in the first place that he’s like this. he betrays chen and clouse and warns wu of their plan, but without telling him whose plan it is. together, the brothers manage to gather together an alliance of the greatest bending masters in the world. garmadon wants their father to help, but wu gives some unfortunate news.

the first bending master is near his deathbed. he is very, very ill, and he is thousands of years old at this point. he wants rest.

so, naturally, garmadon is conflicted about this. he’s ecstatic bc he thinks that he can gain the powers of the avatar once his father passes, but also he’s sad, because, well, thats still his dad after all.

but anyway, the bending alliance manages to defeat the serpentine and seal them away in the spirit realm, like the first bending master had done to the overlord. this… turns out to be a bad idea.

fire lord chen and clouse both manage to shift the blame away from them, and since garmy was the only one who knew they caused the plan, he lets it happen. because he still is a bit evil.

something happens that gives him hope, though: he meets misako, who might be the love of his life. (also in this au that weird love triangle shit don’t happen) they get married, and for a while, garmadon seems perfectly sane. but.

the first bending master dies.

lloyd is born almost right after.

no one makes the connection, though, thankfully, but it is enough for garmadon to lose whatever sanity he had left. he completely goes insane.

he races back to their family monastery believing that he can and will gain the powers of the avatar, somehow, but he doesn’t. and that is too much for him to take. all of this… all of this… waiting… for nothing?

garmadon stares at himself in the mirror. he looks down at his hand, at the bite mark blemishing his skin, and grabs a ceremonial knife. he laughs to himself and places his hand on the mirror, slowly raising his knife towards it… he thinks he can stop all this pain in one easy swoop.

garmadon, sneering at himself: maybe… maybe this will fix it… if i just cut off the damn thing…

first bending master, in the mirror: i would not recommend it, son.

garmadon, face falling: why are you here?

first bending master: i came to speak with you. and to try and help you.

garmadon, snarling: don’t pretend like you care about me! i know what you really think. you think i’m a monster.

first bending master: i think you’re conflicted. the part of you that wants to be the avatar so badly you are willing to kill for it… that part of you clashes with the real you. the one that wants everyone you care about to be safe. your brother, your friends, your wife… your son.

garmadon: *laughs and turns around* why should i care about them, father? they don’t care about me! not my brother, not my wife, not my so-called friends, and certainly not you! the only one who does care about me is my son, and thats only because he doesn’t know any better. he’ll leave one day too.

first bending master, solemnly: you are wrong. i do care about you. i always did. i love you, garmadon. i do.

garmadon shakes, his hand gripping the knife tighter. his mouths trembles, and eventually turns into a scowl. he whirls around to face the mirror and slams his knife into it, shattering it into pieces.

he gets worse from there on. he begins to attack people left and right, villages and cities, even going so far as to consider breaking the serpentine free. he doesn’t get that far, though, because his brother interrupts him.

wu is very concerned, bc, well, garmy was a bit weird but never straight up insane like he is now. so he heads over to his family’s old monastery. there, he finds garmadon, seething and stewing. garmadon doesn’t take his arrival well.

garmadon: ugh! for once, can’t you just leave me alone?!

wu: no, i cannot. this isn’t you, brother! you must snap out of it!

garmadon: this is me! this has been me for my entire life, wu! i can’t change it now, and i can’t even be the avatar. what’s the point?

wu: the point is that father trusted us to take care of ninjago once he passed on. we have a duty.

garmadon: father was a fool, and father was selfish! i am remaking the world in my own image, an image that won’t let anyone have the kind of power that he did, except for those who are worthy!

wu: that’s crazy! you can’t just pick and choose who gets to be the most powerful bender in the world!

garmadon: isn’t that what father did, though, when he died? who is the new avatar, wu?! tell me!!

wu: i don’t know. and neither will you, if you keep this up.

garmadon: *laughs* are you threatening me?

wu: i am.

garmadon: fine. you want to take control of ninjago over me? fine. fine. fine. i challenge you to an agni kai! the battle that was always meant to be.

wu: very well.

garmadon: for the record… i’m sorry it had to end this way, brother.

wu, sadly: no. you aren’t.

cue final agni kai type fight, light vs darkness. fire vs air. obviously, wu wins, and manages to chain garmadon up so he can’t attack anymore. garmadon then has a complete psychotic breakdown like azula, complete with the spitting fire and sobbing hysterically while wu watches sadly.

wu banishes garmadon to the spirit realm, because he doesn’t think there’s anything else he can do.

ninjago is saved.

or so he thinks.

see, chen and clouse are still around. as are the serpentine, biding their time in the spirit realm. they meet garmy and decide that they should work together. garmadon, so torn up by hatred and despair, agrees to help them, if he gets to destroy his brother.

meanwhile, everything is going good.

lloyd is the avatar, obviously, but he’s only like. thirteen when he finds out. he’s an airbender avatar and lived with koko (bc its my au and i get to pick the mom i use) in one of the air temples (idk which one tho). he’s raised believing that he’s just a random kid who happens to serve the avatar, kinda like kyoshi.

that avatar he believes he serves is none other than morro, the adopted son of airbender sage wu. morro is four years older than lloyd, and he was just revealed to be the airbending avatar. morro, of course, is thrilled. but he also gets an incredibly big ego over it, believing that he is better than other people bc he is the avatar. the reason he was thought to be the avatar was because he appeared to waterbend at one point, but it is later revealed to have been simple airbending that pushed the water.

but morro doesn’t realize or know this until its too late. and when he does… its a shitshow.

basically, lloyd and morro are sent to meet with fire lord chen and his daughter skylor, along with wu, koko, and some of the other air sages. skylor is a chi blocker, an incredibly talented one who has mastered all of the different bending fighting styles even tho she herself is a nonbender.

ok so clouse is obviously there. he recognizes lloyd via koko and is fucking pissed. he’s like my ex-boyfriend rival’s son is here?? what the hell?? so he keeps a close on eye on lloyd bc he doesn’t like him. morro, meanwhile, is treated like a king at the palace bc chen wants to get into the avatar’s good graces.

and uh. well, as it turns out, morro isn’t the avatar…

they’re attacked by the serpentine, bitter at the bending masters for having locked them underground. morro is excellent at fighting, but lloyd has more adrenaline.

and lloyd firebends.

cue shock and horror and anger from all sides.

wu is the most horrified of all. the son of his brother… the man he banished… is the avatar?

so yeah thats the background AT LEAST. i dont really know what happens after that but lloyd runs away or something. i will write more i promise!!!

Calling your soul

Heck yeah here's a weird post Seabound AU fic that has lots of my unique lore and probably none of y'all are gonna understand...

When Nya first heard the call, she'd written it off as the prayers of sailors about to be taken out by a storm. She hasn't really been paying much attention to people lately, not that she really minds.

Being detatched and just happy with marine life is much more fun anyways.

But then the call returned. Like a shrill, gutted cry, it tore through her very soul, louder than anything else, even the sea. It wasn't really a sound, rather a feeling, but the agonized cry of something desperate and dying is what she could compare it to.

It couldn't have been a creature of the ocean calling for her aid, as it always came from the direction of land. Some part of her thinks it could be coming from one of those people she loved but left behind...

And why? Because every time this call, this cry strikes her, she knows its voice. The cry is coming in an awfully familiar voice, she just can't place where the hell she knows it from, stupid fuzzy memories-

It always stops if she ignores it, but it also always returns, louder and more desperate each time.

She decides to follow it when it abruptly changes direction.

All this time, it's been coming from the direction of the land, Ninjago... But this one came from the completely opposite direction, so she's decided she's had enough and is going to investigate.

It was also way louder this time, and for some reason she suddenly felt deeply worried, flashes of a blurry face in her mind.

After hours and hours of just going, she reaches land, uninhabited and with an awful, dark vibe that makes her want to flee from near the shores. The cry has long stopped, but she's determined to finding out where it's coming from... Or who it's coming from rather.

Before she could even think about stepping out on land, the cry starts again, much rather sounding like a beg, a call this time.

She can finally pinpoint its location, which is far up on the cliffs of the island, a place that fills her with light by even just thinking about it.

Nya doesn't even get to react as out of nowhere, a thick beam of light strikes her, ripping her free of the ocean surface.

Whatever it is, it's making her feel heavy and dense, taking away her freedom and carefree state-

Thoughts and memories flood her mind, blinding and loud.

She remembers everything. Every last detail of the fight with Wojira and every last detail of her life. The faces of her family clear up, and she wants to burst out crying because oh FSM she abandoned them-

The familiar voice of the cries echoes in her mind as the world turns dark.

"It's either you forever or me for a lifetime... I'm sorry..."

When Nya wakes up, she's in a field, covered with weird, golden flowers. Something rubs off as very wrong about that one, but everything is fuzzy again, preventing her from figuring out why.

A large, black dragon is sprawled in the grass in front of her, wingless and heaving. It's covered in glowing green wounds as it wobbily stands up and limps up to her with curious and happy eyes-

Eye. Just one eye... The right eye of the weird dragon is cracked across, blinding it.

"Uh hello?"

It responds with a happy chuff, pushing its nose to nuzzle her. The motion almost knocks Nya over, the now purring shadow like dragon seemingly unaware of its own size.

There's tiny stubs on its neck, and one of them is glowing a beautiful blue, for what Nya doesn't know.

Out of nowhere it pulls away, gaze now sad as the dragon gives a loud whine, nudging her away.

"What? Why do you want me to leave all the sudden, you were cuddling me and everything earlier, who or what even are you?!"

The dragon only responds with a louder whine, backing up before turning away.

"Hey hey come back what the hell is going on-"

Nya really should've expected the world going back to nothing again.

When Nya next came to, it was to loud crying, and someone warm clutching her tightly.

Blearily opening her eyes she notes that the crying belongs to her brother, who still hasn't noticed her waking up. Everything's still fuzzy to her, but Kai should know what's going on, right?

"Hnnngh whas'goin'on?"

Kai's eyes snap open in shock, and he can only stare, mouth slowly turning to smile with each wheeze. He leans in for a tight hug again, laughy sobs spilling out of him.

"Oh thank FSM Nya I-I thought I lost you too- You can't do that to me ever again sis, you can't-"

"I'll try not to in the future, don't worry."

Behind him, Nya can already see Jay's fainted, all the others, fussing over him as he wakes again in shock.

Nya's gonna have to make this whole deal up to him too won't she-

Wait

Something's not right. Something's missing-

The memory of those cries that wrecked through her soul explodes into her mind, and now she's painfully aware whose voice it was.

Suddenly everything makes sense. The cries, the dragon, the beam of light, everything.

It was Lloyd, of course it was him, Nya's stupidly selfless little brother.

She's suddenly filled with blinding panic, forcing out words so she can chase a particular awful thought from her brain.

"Where's Lloyd? Is he okay? He did all this where is he Kai?"

"We-We don't know... We just saw the light show and everything but then he just disappeared and-"

"It's most likely that his powers burst out and evaporated him..."

Zane's words burn more than anything, and the previously confusing words now echo painfully clear in her mind.

"It's either you forever or me for a lifetime... I'm sorry."

I’m not done!!!

Hi! Want details on how the first Grail War is suppose to play out in the Fate/Ninjago au? No? Too bad! I’m making the post anyways!

Jaden and Len eventually team up, because their servants make them. (After a very intense encounter where Len uses a command seal to force Kai into fighting that ends in a truce once Len figures out who Rider is and why his servant refuses to fight her)

Nya makes a comment to Kai about the whole “Len is Lloyd 2.0 and you’re adopting him pretty intensely″ thing and he’s just like “Yeah. No duh. Lloyd clearly sent me here to be an emotional support big brother. I have had Len for exactly four days and if anything where to happen to him I’d kill everyone in this Grail War and then myself.”

Nya tries to very intentionally not notice that Jaden is he boyfriend reincarnated. Kai points it out and she is unhappy with him speaking it into reality for her. She and Jaden do have a stupid amount of romantic tension that Nya is agonizing over. Jaden is devastated at the end of the war. It’s all that doomed love shit. (Along with some weird questions about what counts as cheating. She’s dead. He’s dead. She’s not even the same person, just a spirit made of the stories about her. Also he is the same person in a way, possibly. Is this really reincarnation or just a lot of coincidences? He’s not her great great great great great etc grand kid right? The books don’t cover this stuff!)

Not-Chen (who still has no name) takes Gerald’s command seals. Probably removes his arm to do it. Maybe kills the kid, maybe he can live. So Not-Chen has Assassin/Pythor while Taylor has Caster. He’s a the major threat through most of the war.

Zander gets killed by Caster and Assassin. Not sure if it’s after he meets Len and Jaden, or if Zander is just all tragedy with no fluff.

Cole is left without a master and runs into Len, Jaden, Kai, and Nya and they have a very heartbreaking scene where Cole is in pain because he’s not being supplied any mana. Maybe they mercy kill him, maybe they leave him to quietly disappear in the woods. Haven’t decided. But it’s traumatic. Cole is traumatized because he couldn’t protect Zander. Jaden is super nervous because he kind of jumped into this Grail War thing without much forethought just like Zander (Ok, he thought it through a little more than Zander did) and could easily end up the same as Zander. Jaden doesn’t really want the grail anymore. Len promises him he’ll protect him and a friendship is formed.

Taylor, seemingly randomly to everyone else, but to her it’s been a lot time coming, turns on her dad. She orders Caster/Clouse to kill him, then kill himself. Pythor is left without a master and Taylor offers to forge a contract with him since she has one more command seal, only to immediately turn around and order him to kill himself too. Then she fucks off from the entire thing she wanted nothing to do with in the first place. Later losers!

That just leaves Haruki. Big final battle. Jaden almost dies, but Len and Nya save him. Nya gets killed. Kai loses it. Noble Phantasms are used. And Kai reveals that on top of his own Noble Phantasm, because he was so tied to Lloyd in life and was sent by Lloyd in his place, Kai can used Lloyd’s Noble Phantasm too. (I’m thinking it’s Golden Power.) (Don’t @ me there is precedence for this in the fate series and it’s cool!)

Not sure if Haruki dies or nah. Probably not. Guess she’s a problem in Grail War two.

So Len wins! Yay! He wants to unlock the Fourth Magic (or whatever it’s called, I don’t remember), only to discover the “Sorry, you need 8 servants to do that.” rule. Which he thinks about and is like, so if I just wish Kai back to life and he sticks around until the next Grail War, would that work? Which we know it does because that was what happened with Gilgamesh 

He asks Kai if he’s willing and Kai agrees. (Surprise! Lloyd’s plan was this all along! Have fun with your new big brother Len! You’re welcome!!)

So Kai stays around and Len is happy with his new big brother, Kai and BFF, Jaden (who is a little heartbroken at losing Nya currently, but that’s temporary.) They even start hanging out with Taylor and form a friend group! 

By the time the second Grail War of the AU comes around Jaden has a boyfriend: Not-Scott! (I thinking Scout? Or I might just leave his name in this case.)

Unfortunately (or fortunately), this is not just a romantic story, it's just that I'm drawing one challenge right now. :) I'm sorry, there is a lot of text here.

I use this tag to mark posts related to story of my main character, Hani. The presence of the OC changes the events of the plot of the series, so I can say that this is AU. Since this is not a single plot, but a story associated with almost each of the seasons of Ninjago, AU doesn't have a single idea. But I can say that this is a story where there is another ninja in the team.

I know there are many such characters, and this AU was originally made just for fun. But maybe I can make something good out of it.

I have a detailed article describing Hani's storyline, but I haven't translated it yet, so I'll tell you the most important things.

Hani is the daughter of Wu's ally, Keyon. During the events of the pilot episode, he was killed by skeletons – so Wu said. Hani then became the new master of glass.

Hani studied at Darkley's Boarding School for Great Children, where the ninjas worked as teachers after the second season. She could not learn to control the element on her own, so the glass was attracted to her against her will and left cuts. The ninjas noticed this, but didn't going to interfere, but Zane took pity on the girl. He became involved with her despite Wu's ban (he didn't need the daughter of Keyon, because Keyon died through Wu's fault). Hani became very attached to Zane, with whom she felt safe. He taught the girl frightened by her abilities to find strength in herself. Zane was not sure if her abilities were similar to those of a ninja, but he understood that they should be used for the good of Ninjago so that Hani would not use them for evil. Therefore, he did his best to have Hani join the ninja team and be under their supervision. To do this, he had to argue with his friends and Wu.

In Rebooted, Zane managed to gain Hani's recognition as a team member. Yes, she was weaker than a ninjas, but over time she could become a good fighter – and, most importantly, her abilities would not threaten the safety of Ninjago. Unfortunately, Zane died, and the ninjas didn't want to take responsibility for the girl, so they left her in the care of Garmadon.

After the death of Zane, she was devastated, as after losing her father. But she continued to train alongside Lloyd and Garmadon. Constant training and the desire to be stronger made her character quite tough, but she could confidently fight the enemy. Garmadon didn't like her aggression and too strong will to win, he tried to make Hani more calm.

In the Tournament of Elements, these problems intensified. Clouse skillfully used Hani's aggression, making her an enemy for all other participants in the Tournament. The girl herself, due to the constant use of the element in battles, lost her common sense. Even her appearance began to change. In the end, Clouse was almost able to get her to fight by his side – but Hani was too dangerous, so Chen decided to get rid of her. She was thrown in the desert, chained to the skeleton of some monster. Hani missed the battle in the Elders' Corridors. It was only after this hard lesson that she realized the importance of Garmadon's ideas. But it was already too late.

Maybe Hani would have died in the desert... If not for Morro. He introduced himself as a poor traveler and helped her get out of the chains, while learning from Hani about what is happening in Ninjago. Later they met as opponents. Morro offered Wu to exchange Lloyd for one of the ninjas (this was an attempt to eliminate Nya; if the elements returned to the ninjas, Wu would not develop her abilities). Wu traded Lloyd for Hani. Master never wanted to take her on the team and thus got rid of her. Hani realized that Lloyd was more valuable to the team than she was, and also she hoped to get rid of Wu with Morro's help. As a result, Morro and Hani tried to manipulate each other, but they succeeded equally badly – so they only learned the secrets and weaknesses of each other, being in the same body. Both became vulnerable to each other, so they ceased to be strangers. At the end of Possession, Hani pulled Morro out of the water, creating her Elemental Dragon for the first time. Morro was unable to surrender and die when he had a living ally.

After Morro stayed with the ninjas, the course of events in the canon changed quite a lot.

In the Skybound, Hani looked for ways to bring Morro back to life. But first, Wu had to be convinced to remove the curse from the student. While trying to complete these tasks, Hani found herself trapped like the other ninjas. But Morro was used to achieving everything himself and remained at large, and in the end he helped Jay and his team.

Day of the Departed was the perfect moment to bring Morro back to life. Wu surrendered and removed the curse from him, the portal is open and can let Morro through. But his fear of being unprepared for life almost ruined everything. Morro considers Yang's fate unfair and was ready to give him a place in the world of the living. Cole practically forcibly sent Morro into the portal so that he would not interfere in the fight between the master of the earth and Yang.

In the Recording (fanseason) reveals the stories of the Morro and Hani families. The wind masters are associated with the Cloud Kingdom, which is now in danger. Only Morro, whose fate is in his own hands, can fight the lord of fate. Hani and Lloyd go in search of the Master of Writing, because only they can actively move between worlds: Lloyd is a descendant of the FSM, and Hani, like the former glass masters, is called upon to protect him and follow him. The fates of Morro and Hani, written in the scrolls of their fates, are contrary to their wishes, and they must deal with this.

During the fight with the Hands of Time, Hani was almost glad that Wu had resigned and supported Lloyd as the new leader. But gradually she began to sympathize with Wu, despite what he had done in the past. The fact that he sacrificed himself to save the students changed Hani's opinion of him. But Morro still hasn't forgiven the teacher. He believed that Wu couldn't just disappear from the life of a ninjas.

The events of the Sons of Garmadon are changed: Lloyd approaches Harumi not because of sympathy for her (since he is already in a relationship with another character, besides, sympathy for the girl is too weak a hook), but because of the desire to bring his father back to life. But to bring back the real Garmadon, not his evil appearance. The real Garmadon will be able to deal with the Sons, like the Anacondrai generals with Chen's army. Harumi, like the entire imperial family, belongs to a mysterious association that knows the secrets of resurrection from the dead. Mysticism and a blind desire to meet his father again deprives Lloyd of the ability to think sanely, and he believes Harumi. Can't a whole secret society lie? Unbeknownst to Lloyd, Harumi bribed the respected Ninjago explorers and mystics to put on this whole show. But Morro doesn't trust the imperial family, since he once participated in the war between the dynasties. He is confident that the Sons of Garmadon are ruled by the descendants of the overthrown dynasty. He doesn't believe in the resurrection of Garmadon and condemns such attachment of Lloyd to his dead father. Morro is also suspicious of Harumi's physical fitness. He is a dangerous foe, so the Sons are trying to eliminate him. Hani generally agrees with Morro, but she still really wants to see Garmadon, so she doesn't want to suspect Harumi. Morro is on a ship and enters the Realm of Oni and Dragons, Hani stays with Lloyd. Before parting, Morro manages to conclude a Yin-Yang Promise with her.

In Hunted, Morro didn't lose heart and settled in the desert - he was used to wandering and starving. Morro tried to save the wind dragon from the Hunters, but failed, was punished, and nearly died. Despite all this, the cruel world of Oni and Dragons came to his liking. As Wu grew older, he and Morro finally found a common language and came to an agreement. Hani at this time trying to continue the fight after the loss of Morro and Zane. She becomes cruel again, like in the Tournament. Due to the destruction of the city in the streets a lot of broken glass, and with so many shells Hani can easily destroy enemies. Harumi gives the order to clear the streets of glass in order to deprive the Resistance of such a dangerous and ubiquitous weapon, but getting rid of all the glass in the city is impossible. The ninjas returned in time – blinded by grief, Hani has not yet lost herself, as in the Tournament.

Morro and Hani already hope for a respite and calm, but Oni's appearance again forces them to be ready for battle. Hani has both interest and disgust for Garmadon, who was resurrected by Harumi. Morro willingly communicates with him, Garmadon cannot really offend him with his sharp remarks. Hani greatly fears for Lloyd's life as he and Garmadon descend into the Darkness. After Cole's fall, Hani tries not to lose control of herself, as she did before. Morro tries to use the wind to pull Cole out of the Darkness, but is unable to break through the cloud. In the final battle with Oni, Morro and Hani use Spinjitzu. Morro is hesitant to team up with the others in the Tornado of Creation because he is unsure of his ability to use Spinjitzu, but Hani persuades him to take the risk. After the completion of the Tornado, Morro hits hard against the wall of the monastery. This encourages him to actively learn Spinjitzu.

The Secrets of the Forbidden Spinjitzu events have been changed, but I haven't finished the AU for this season yet. For now, I can say that the ninjas ended up in the tomb of snakes not out of boredom, but because of the deception of Clutch Powers: he competed with a young researcher for a place in the Club and wanted to use the ninjas to pass traps in the tomb. The Forbidden Spinjitzu is a special elimination weapon used by the FSM to purge Ninjago of its serious competitors. The theme of not just winning, but eliminating enemies runs through the entire season and makes it darker, because the enemy of the ninjas is now Zane. And he is not going to negotiate with them.

AU where some different things are possible. Don't read too much into Jay's techno babble, quite honestly, I might edit some of it out, it's not the point.

Don't be surprised if you see this edited before the final ff.net post, but it's here, and I'm happy with it. The original concept has a chapter in which our two main characters talk together and process, and that is still very, very important to me, I'll probably bring it back.

The amount of power Zane is channeling right now shouldn't be possible. Jay made darn sure to learn everything he could about Zane's possible repairs while Dr. Julien was still alive—the other guys didn't like to think about it back then, but come on, he was old, Jay knew, everyone else knew too even if they weren't saying it— so anyway, he'd spin wild hypotheticals, ask what happens if one tiny piece of machinery goes wrong.

Lloyd would hit the point where he wanders off, self-consciously chuckling that this isn't really his area but he feels like he's kinda learning things, and Jay would watch the clock tick until Nya got bored... and then, that was his opening, to fire off whatever question would come off as too rude while the others were around.

The doctor would smile in a sort of understanding, if slightly flummoxed, way, and he'd start answering. Jay got a lot of answers! He figured out how to put all of Dr. Julien's numbers into his numbers, you know, the kind we learn in the modern century, and made a copy of Zane's schematics with his notes. He had a harder time finding the focus to figure out the Falcon, but Nya and Lloyd are on that anyway. Logical division of labor.

What is he talking about. What was he thinking about. Zane's dying.

Distractedly, he answers- "I said critical mass. If he doesn't contain that, he could go nuclear."

"He's containing it, right?"

"It doesn't- matter." Containing it also means dying.

"Why wouldn't it matter, Jay-"

Jay asked a lot of questions, but he never did even think to ask about Zane's power source. Shouldn't that be the first thing? Why weren't we asking questions about the power source?

He knows approximately how much power Zane runs on. He knows it isn't this much. He knows how a storm feels, right before lightning is about to strike, what builds up in the air and how much damage it can do, right before he—

Jay takes a step forward.

Wu puts an arm across his shoulders, pulling him back. Jay just about slaps him off before realizing that's a quick way to get himself thrown to the ground and shut up before he can start,

So he waits, a frustrating two, three seconds, until he finds words.

"I can help." His throat is dry and he wouldn't mind except that he needs to be louder. "Get me to him, I can help!"

The rest of the ninja are turning to look at Jay… so… slow. Cole looks like he could be swimming through molasses. Jay seethes, and flexes and unfurls his fists by his sides to let it out, and takes a small step back instead of forward.

It works. Sensei releases him, almost.

Kai looks like he might be committing a crime if he lets himself look away from Zane, which isn't helping. Finally, though, he opens his mouth before Jay can. "Your powers? …Do you think?"

"'Do I think-' yes, I think, that's electricity. Or, electromagnetic- whatever. It's energy. I can feel it, Kai- this is taking too long! Where's Pixal- Pixal! Pixal, yoo-hoo, tell them I can help!"

"That won't be necessary," says Wu. Everyone is moving like an old man right now, taking their time; Jay's sure of it. Remember that comment about Cole? It feels like Jay's the only thing who isn't wading through molasses. Jay and the Digital Overlord, that is, and Zane, who cries out so bad Jay spends that moment sure that everything's over and Zane is gone now-

Everyone is moving like the slow old man Sensei talks like, but then Jay sort of- must have blinked, or something, because suddenly, they're all shifted. Cole sets a hand sturdily against his shoulder. It takes him a moment to realize that they're all on his side.

Jay finds a hardened, gold feeling deep in his chest, and latches onto it, and uses it to find his voice. "Okay." Okay. Look. Think. "Cole, I'm going to run at you and I need you to launch me, onto that web. Lloyd, use your energy to boost me."

"But-"

"We don't have time! It's just a scratch."

"Keep him on the edge of the blast. Try to center it about two meters from him." Jay looks back at Nya, Nya looks back at him. It's like they're both realizing how small everything has been. They're nineteen- Jay's nineteen, Nya's eighteen. It's like- like, we didn't need to know the shape of the care right now, I care about you.

Nya waves him away to the task at hand with a smile that means What? Anyway, you're coming back.

Jay looks at Cole and Lloyd. They look back at him. "Well, let's go." With a serious expression, not a word in response and not wasting a second, Cole stoops, palms up and fingers intertwined, a foot-sized platform.

"I'm ready for you, Walker."

He gulps. Time freezes for a second and then skips forward again, like half a second that definitely shouldn't be allowed to be that long. "Okay."

Kai steps forward, like he's going to- hug him, maybe? Rub his back? Push him forward?

"Okay ninja-go—" he kicks off and twists. Off the ground, off Cole's intertwined hands, launching him into the air- about to panic and yell Now, Lloyd when Lloyd finds the right moment anyway, blast re-aiming him just as he's about to fall-

He's sailing through the air, back sore and ears still ringing as the wind whistles past them. Ninjago city sails beneath him. He's two feet short of Zane's hand. He's going to miss.

He's going to miss, he's sorry, and they don't have a second shot, and not that it would be okay if he didn't but now he's going to get all caught in the explosion too,

And Zane reaches back, and grabs his hand.

The jolt that immediately moves through Jay is an absolutely massive electrical discharge. It tries to run from him straight to ground; at first, he was not connected to the circuit, so the electricity is looking for him as its way out. Here's the thing about electricity—it doesn't ask questions. It's already moving by the time your question is halfway out of your mouth, and that's why you need to either be five steps ahead or be ready to start improvising right now or else you're dead.

Something about that isn't how electricity should work, though. It doesn't rush into... a wire that isn't connected to a throughline. Batteries have two ends, positive and negative, and a wire that isn't connected to both of them might as well not be a wire at all— electricity isn't trying to get out, it's trying to get to somewhere, electrons hungry to get to that battery's positive side. Every single electrical invention in the world is formed by humans forcing those electrons to take the long way.

This electricity doesn't have a destination.

The Digital Overlord is always destroying. That means energy in him is leeching outward; this isn't just entropy, this is entropy gone rogue. Jay doesn't know where he's getting the electricity from, but- if he can destroy, maybe he can create. Who knows. Whatever. What becomes apparent right then is that it seems like the Overlord needs to always leech outward, and what Zane is doing is containing him. Sooner or later the snake eats its own tail.

Zane nods, with a firm little hum, as if he can tell from Jay's face what's going on in his head. It's businesslike, and it jolts Jay back to work. Jay can stand this for a few minutes longer, but Zane- Zane's dying.

So: parallel paths. Create two paths, two options, and the electricity will keep looking for how it can be the least crowded. It's like the reason air leaves a popped balloon, kinda like pressure but with a thousand electrons that all hate each other and feel indifferent about you. Or picture... getting into a crowded convention center, and someone coming running to announce they've just opened a second doorway, and that you can get in through either line. Create two paths, and only half of it goes through Zane.

Zane releases his hand.

They really, really need to have a talk later, but Jay is relieved it's not a talk about being willing to be saved. He's helping himself be saved.

Jay holds one of the golden contact points in one hand, and one in the other. The energy rolling around his ligaments and bones deflates, taking the easiest path.

"I had hoped you would do that behind me," says Zane, whose eyes are now closed.

Jay doesn't really try for a little laugh, so much as his body tries for a little laugh, like his brain is fine-tuned into making his excuses with or without him. "You could've said that earlier."

"No, it's alright. Just… here, scoot a little to the side-"

"This is pathetic," hisses a condensed-evil murmur over their shoulder, like it's obligated to, "YOU THINK YOU CAN DEFEAT ME?"

"Yes," says Zane.

And the bluewhite what-is-that-stuff that he'd once used to take down a plain old treehorn beams closer past Jay's cheek than he can really say he's comfortable with. It's almost like being near a fire- a live wire, static. He's not too cold, but he's sure if he touched it, it would move straight through rapid-action frostbite into part of his face falling off.

"Jay, now." Jay isn't sure what he means by now, that uh, isn't very clear, but he spends a half-second in panic before realizing Zane's ice is running a cable to ground. It'll keep a direct hit from coming back for them. It means, since this is the only window before it connects, they need to hit him now.

Jay pulls the electricity out of himself, out of the air- he takes whatever excess Zane will give him, when he touches his hand- and he breaks the circuit. He shoves it, with force, the opposite of the ways electrons want to work, not the way lightning wants to work—but that's the first step of making lightning. You build up a gap. The buildup snaps from him into the Digital Overlord's metal body. Something is wrung out of him like a sponge.

There's a thunderclap that shakes the city and an explosion that's- like a video game character died. Like it's not a real explosion, it's just something- dissipating. The city just turns white.

Jay becomes aware that he's flying again for the first time in two years, and Zane is holding onto him but losing strength. And then it turns out that he's got his arms around Zane, too. He only figures that out when he starts to panic that Zane's going to fall, and the tug of Zane's weight on his arms doubles, and alerts him that they're there, secure. His body was thinking ahead, even if he wasn't.

Zane's out. He's… fine. He's fine. He's got to be fine.

And while we're at it, Jay's hoping he's fine. His heart feels- wrong.

The first thing he needs to do is get back to land, the second thing he needs to do is look at… is get Nya to look at Zane, he's not even sure he can trust his senses. Huh, hang on, there's a sound other than the ringing in his ears.

"Jay!"

That's Pixal.

"Jay!"

She's standing on the roof of Borg Tower, waving her arms, and just as Jay starts to settle enough to realize he's not frozen, adrenaline's not gonna stop him from moving and he should fly somewhere. ...Huh. He has to pick where.

It would be a really good move to let their friends see they're alive. Nya's good at robotics.

Pixal and Borg… can probably fix him faster.

Zane sparks, hard.

Like Superman, made of light, Jay descends toward Borg Tower in a graceful arc. His feet connect with the roof with a very soft patter. He locks eyes with Pixal to hand off their boy to her.

"Whoa, okay, Sparky, geez. Just thought I'd keep the sweat out of your eyes."

Well. That's not correct.

There are the tiles of a hospital ceiling in front of his eyes, which feels more correct. Apparently, Kai is also in the room, because—

"Yeah. He's okay."

—well, because that's Kai.

Cole, of all the things that could happen here, squeezes Jay's hand. It occurs to Jay that he could have died on- on really, really weird terms with him.

Whoof. Jay takes stock of his body. He starts by feeling the sheets, just to figure out where his body is, then investigates the muscles and aches beneath them. He's in one of those medical gowns that closes in the back.

Everything feels... pretty okay? No, everything feels like he's just been stretched in every direction like a piece of toffee.

He, uh, definitely can't move. And that feels wrong, but at least he's identified the reason he's in a hospital bed, rather than wondering. He'd find this a lot harder to process if he had walked away from it without a scratch at all, even though it would have been cooler. He sort of wonders if anyone would bring his chart over where he can read it.

"Uh, yeah, that's all great, but what about Zane?"

Kai lets out a small, slightly-amused very-concerned snort. "Jay, you asked that already. He's okay."

"Go easy on him."

That's Lloyd. There are, wow, a lot of people in this room. It's gotta be a pretty small room? Hospital rooms aren't that large. Are his parents here?

"They're on their way."

"My mouth keeps saying whatever's in my brain."

Cole laughs. "Hey, don't worry everyone, he's back to normal."

Jay's breath does a weird thing in his lungs. It's like his body is focusing on every sensory detail except where it hurts. "Yeah, you're just jealous of how I looked up there."

Cole could nearly double over laughing at another time, but right now everything about him is subdued, gentle. Jay could see him ruffling his hair if he wasn't, you know. In a hospital bed. "Sure am, sparkplug."

And there's quiet for a beat.

Jay continues, still staring at the ceiling, "Hey, Nya, how bad are you gonna kill me."

"Oh, uh—" That's Lloyd again, kicking one heel awkwardly back against the wall. Kai speaks quickly—

"She wanted to be here. It's killing her not to, I mean— everyone did. Sensei, too. We told them we've got you."

"That's nice."

"I-I said I'd run and call her once you're awake, just to let her know. I should probably go do that now. She's—"

"With Zane," Jay finishes, no bones about it. Kai nods. "That's nice." The way energy thrums from Jay's palms feels different now, like he's not just pulling it from the air, like there's a battery under his skin, but that's. That's a question for training time. It's sleep time, now.

A/N: Why did the writers say "it's reaching critical mass." I still don't know what that means. Zane's power source is presumably based on some kind of nuclear fission then, but I'm not sure what "critical mass" has to do with the Digital Overlord encounter? If anyone knows how that's relevant to how Zane died, please lend me your knowledge, I'd be very grateful and schooled.

Anyway, critically, this is an AU where it is possible for Jay to help, not an AU where Jay notices he can help. It's built on the assertion that there was nothing Jay could do in the original, but in this universe, different things were possible.

Nightmares (Purified Au)

So since today is Ninjago’s tenth anniversary and I feel bad for not really making anything for it, I decided instead to post a fic that I wrote back in October and forgot to post. Ninjago has meant a lot to me and this community has really helped me gain more confidence in my art and fics, and even though I’m not really that active anymore, I figured I should at least post something to show my appreciation

Oliver was in his bed in his new room on the bounty, tossing and turning as he tried to get some good sleep. He still wasn’t fully used to the new room, despite having it for quite a while now since the ninja needed to use the cell in his old room during the whole ghost incident. 

Oliver was happy that Lloyd was back, but something else had been bothering him- nightmares. Ever since he had his outburst while fighting Morro, he’s been getting recurring nightmares that have kept him up at night. The ninja all seemed so occupied recently that he didn’t want to bother any of them, and he figured the nightmares would go away, but they never did.

Oliver jolted awake, breathing heavily as he looked around at his surroundings. He looked around his bed trying to find his beloved stuffed animal, eventually seeing his paw sticking out from under his bed. Oliver quickly grabbed Tofu and hugged him as he started to calm down. He sat there for a while before deciding to go get a glass of water, hoping it would help him feel better.

He hopped out of bed and left his room, still hugging Tofu as tight as he could. He made his way to the kitchen, trying his best not to make any noise that could wake anyone up. 

“You’re up late.”

Oliver jumped as he heard Lloyd’s voice, scared that he was gonna get in trouble. He looked over at the green ninja standing in the doorway.

“H-hi Lloyd,” Oliver greeted.

“Are you ok?” Lloyd asked, walking into the kitchen. “Shouldn’t you be sleeping?”

“I… I was thirsty,” Oliver explained. He looked up at Lloyd. “What about you? Why aren’t you sleeping?”

“Same reason as you,” Lloyd replied. He grabbed two cups and filled them with water, handing one of them to Oliver. “There you go, buddy.”

“Thank you,” Oliver said. He took a sip of the water but looked away.

“Is there something bothering you, Oliver?” Lloyd asked.

Oliver continued to avoid eye contact. “I…”

“C’mon, you can tell me,” Lloyd assured. He pulled out a chair and sat down.

Oliver looked at Lloyd before looking away again. “I had a nightmare…”

“Oh, it’ll be ok, Oliver,” Lloyd replied. “It was just a nightmare.”

“But I keep having the same nightmare,” Oliver explained. 

“Well what happens in the nightmare?” Lloyd asked.

“Well…” Oliver paused as he tried remembering the order of events. “I always hear a scary voice… and…”

“Oliver, you can tell me,” Lloyd repeated.

Oliver looked up at Lloyd. His eyes looked terrified. “You were trapped in a glass container. You looked like you were in pain, and there was golden stuff coming out of your body. And the scary voice was happy that you were hurting…”

Lloyd went silent. He knew exactly what Oliver was dreaming about.

“I’m sorry, Lloyd,” Oliver apologized. “I didn’t mean to dream about you being in pain, but it keeps happening and I don’t know why and I just want it to stop!” Oliver started sniffling as tears started falling down his face.

“C-calm down,” Lloyd assured. He pulled Oliver close to him, giving him a hug. “It was just a nightmare…”

“I know,” Oliver replied. “But I don’t like seeing it every night!” Oliver cried again before managing to form words again. “Am I in trouble?”

“No, you’re not in trouble,” Lloyd assured. 

“The others are gonna be mad at me,” Oliver said.

“No they won’t,” Lloyd replied. “It’s just a dream, it’s not real.”

“Are you gonna tell the others?” Oliver asked. “I… I don’t want them to be upset…”

Lloyd hesitated. Everything would be fine, right? This would sort itself out. This was no reason to worry. Right? “I… I won’t tell them,” Lloyd replied.

Oliver only responded with a quiet mumble. He squeezed Tofu and looked at the ground.

“Are you gonna be ok to go back to bed?” Lloyd asked.

“I think so…” Oliver responded.

“Well then you’d better go get some sleep,” Lloyd said. “It’s late and you need the rest.”

“Ok…” Oliver replied before walking back to his room.

Lloyd waited until Oliver was completely out of sight before taking a deep breath. He knew this wasn’t a good sign. He knew telling the others would be the smart thing to do, but he was scared. Oliver had become a little brother for him, and he didn’t want to risk the others doing anything drastic. He knew that Jay, Cole and Nya were both ok with him, and Kai has warmed up to him, but Zane was the one who was still very hesitant. Lloyd shook his head.

“It’s all gonna be ok,” he told himself. “There’s no reason to worry.”

Nya. He was doing this for Nya.

The teenager muttered the words a few times, in hope it'll make him feel better about what he was getting into.

The bar's entrance was only visible thanks to the bleak and discolored light of a flickering neon sign nearby. Typically, this was the place where stupid horror movie protagonists get lured and torn apart. And Kai was going in there willingly.

Well, almost willingly. He didn't really have a choice, did he ? Nobody wanted to hire a teen with little to no experience in anything. This was the only thing he found. And between starving and this, he'd much rather not die a slow and painful death, thank you very much.

Kai took a deep breath and put on a brave face. The moment of truth.

He knocked on the door three times, paused, then two times again.

A muffled voice got his attention. "Who's askin' ?"

"I-" Kai started, cursing himself for the audible fear in his tone. "I heard you're hiring."

He heard a rattle of metal against metal around the peephole before the entrance slightly opened. "Anyone knows where you are ?" asked a man's raspy voice.

Be it a blessing of a curse, he had the intelligence of not telling Nya where he was headed tonight. She was still growing, she needed a night of sleep uninterrupted by concerns for his safety. "No."

"Good. Come in and sit at a table."

Stepping foot inside the bar, eerily silent apart from a few people chatting softly, made Kai's skin crawl. It was becoming more and more like a horror movie location, and Kai was the stupid protagonist.

Against his better judgment, the teen selected a table, isolated enough from the other customers to ensure he wouldn't piss off someone important by accident. And he waited.

The guy from earlier swung by him some time later, a bottle in his hand. "How old are ya, kid ?"

Kai squirmed, uncomfortable. "I'm sixteen, sir," he answered, making the man laugh.

"Hah ! 'Sir' ! And polite with that !" After a few seconds of thinking, he added "Yeah, you can have a beer."

The guy put the bottle in front of Kai and left, still snickering at his new "title".

Kai felt his cheeks get hotter. But being embarrassed beats being dead for being disrespectful, right ?

He hesitantly brought the glass bottle to his lips and took a sip.

"Ugh, that's what alcohol tastes like ?" He whispered to himself, sticking his tongue out in disgust. Maybe he'd get used to it later.

Suddenly, a tall man entered the room and everything went silent. Everyone's gaze was locked on the newcomer, who was instead looking at... Kai ?

He sat down in front of him and despite every fiber of his being yelling the man was bad news, Kai remained still.

He couldn't see his face very well, save a few strands of dark brown hair falling from under his black hat and onto his face and barely visible eyes behind sunglasses. Maybe it was just tainted glass, though.

"Hello, Kai." The boy almost jumped at the mention of his name.

"H-How do you-"

"I've been watching you for quite a while. Ever since you first spoke to one of my workers, the one who suggested you come here tonight." A dangerous smile crept up on his face. You could've almost mistaken the man for a snake.

"My name is Pythor. Please to meet you, Kai." Pythor held out his hand and Kai sheepishly shook it. "I hope I won't need to meet Nya, too." He tightened his grip, sending chills through the young boy's spine.

"Please sir, she's not part of this..."

"Oh, don't you worry. She's safe. As long as you don't cause us trouble, that is." Pythor lowered his glasses and winked at Kai. The man's eyes were brown, but for a second he could've sworn his eyes were red.

"Now. You said you were interested in our line of work, yes ? Why is that ?"

"U-Um. I have to work to earn money to feed me a-and my sister, but no one wants to hire a sixteen-years-old, y'know ? So, as a last resort, I turned to... This."

"A last resort, huh ?" Pythor's expression was indecipherable.

His eyes wide, Kai sputtered. "No, I didn't mean to say it like that ! I just- I was-"

A snicker made him stop. "It's alright. A lot of my men ended up under my command as a last resort too." His voice didn't sound upset.

But he could feel the tall man's gaze burning on his face.

"I can tell you are going to be a good addition to our ranks, Kai Smith," he said, insisting on Kai's last name. A warning Pythor knew more than enough about him to... Restrain him, if needed. "Althought, I do have one last question. Do you know how to fight ?"

Kai was getting less and less confident the more time passed, but he was already in too deep now. There was no coming back. "I... I think so."

A satisfied smirk grew of the man's face.

"Excellent."

Kai shivered. 'A deal with a demon,' he thought to himself.

He really was the stupid horror movie protagonist.

I was scared about getting this one cuz as soon as I’m told to ramble about something I like idk what to talk about

So I know you were expecting something Ninjago related and I’m sorry but I just gotta talk about BJ the musical for a sec.

I know I’ve already told y’all to check it out before I have a feeling some of y’all didn’t so I’m here to remind you to do that cuz it’s really really good.

I think my favorite singer has to be Lydia cuz Dead Mom is one of my favorite songs (also Cole would definitely sing this song-HOLY F—K I JUST REALIZED WHAT I NEED! NINJAGO BJ AU HECC YEAH!!! You probably think that I was planning on writing this post like this on purpose but I literally just realized the potential AU right as I was writing this sentence down so yeah

Kai is ghost that was born in the underworld/hecc and so he can’t interact with the living and they can’t see him unless the say his middle name Beetlejuice (full name Kai Beetlejuice Ninjago) 3 times.

Jay/Zane and Nya/Zane/Pixal are a married couple that recently died in their own house (at his own house? At his own house. Damn. Sorry my Hamilton is showing) and normally after you die you’re supposed to go to the underworld but Kai is like nope so he tells them that new people are going to move into their house and they got to scare them off if they want to keep the house to themselves (or something like that idk)

And then here comes Cole and Lou! Cole lost his mom and feels like no one other than him notices or cares and Lou just keeps tell him to move on from her but he can’t so like any normal dude he sings a killer song about his feelings (seriously it’s so so so very good)

(This is me whenever I listen to Dead Mom)

Anyway, Kai tries to teach Jay/Zane and Nya/Zane/Pixal how to give them the Fright Of Their Lives (really good song reference plz listen to it) and then quickly realizes how unscary these guys are. He gives up and leaves for the roof to sing another really good song.

Cole later joins Kai on the roof after singing a really good argument song with Misako and is about to kill himself when it comes to Kai’s attention that Cole can see him.

Kai then tries to convince Cole that he needs him to get rid of his dad and to do that he has to say his name 3 times in another good song. In the end Cole instead pushes Kai off the roof and tries to help Jay/Zane and Nya/Zane/Pixal try to make his dad and friends leave the house.

It doesn’t work so Cole summons Kai and they have a blast with not 1, but 2 really good songs (though they only appear at the end of the Girl Scout song, they’re still there so I’m counting it as 2 songs, also Beautiful Sound is also really good like really really good)

Jay/Zane and Nya/Zane/Pixal discover that their old lives were sh-tty and boring and that now they are new people and that they need to help Cole in a really good song.

Cole then somehow goes to the underworld without dieing, idk how he did it they don’t have a song about it, but he meets Skylor/Nya and she sings a really good song with the rest of the dead people/elemental masters about how they took their lives for granted.

Cole then feels like something is wrong and sings another killer song about his feelings and then at some point agrees to marry Kai in order for him to become alive and they have a really good song for the wedding and after Kai becomes alive, Cole stabs and kills him :D

Cole, Jay/Zane, Nya/Zane/Pixal, Lou, and Misako then live a good life in their house and sing a song about it then the musical ends.

Sorry, I’m a bit confused here, what is this game you’re making, and what’s it about? All I know is that it has Garmadon in it (btw I love how you draw him)

Now would actually be a good time to post the artwork I just finished which I will do after posting this ask CFGVHB-SO, the theme I'm going for is Balance (Taijitu) and spirits (Mostly leaning to Yokais).The idea is that its some time after the March of the Oni season, everyone- or at least most people, have found peace again in Ninjago city. We follow Garm around for a little bit, pondering the meaning of life- cuz hey, that One Conversation On The Bounty really stuck to him- and he comes to a sorta *bad* conclusion that leads to him unleashing Yokais into their world.Now Garm has to find a way to stop em, and of course, he can't do that without the lil ninja nerds help.I've been trying to write down some more ideas I keep thinking about, but I always have a hard time finding the right words, so I end up doodling a bit instead and after I try to use words (Kinda like that one treasure planet au cmic, barely any words rn but the images show exactly what it is yknow?)And I will try to give other characters some nice lil story content too since we honestly need more of those uvuBut yeah a lot of it is still a draft, but that just means there's more place for cool ideas and all!
