talking about oc's yippie
so lyric and kymiz are oc's that i created in the end of 2021 or so and i never finished fleshing out their story but i'm hoping to do that soon
lyric is a drake (lizard people i made up. they can stand on two feet or four) and has emerald colored scales here's an old image of him

he's the villain of the story
but more of a playful villain who has good morals but their goals are "evil" kymiz is a young elf just out of their teen years and was wandering around the
"forbidden kingdom" when they came accross lyric
lyric is in his late thirties (drake years, so like a few hundred in human years) while kymiz is just about a hundred years old (twenty if converted to human) and kymiz was how i realized i only write male or nonbinary characters uh kymiz's name i just pulled out a generator for fantasy names and switched a few letters
it doesn't mean anything
anyway kymiz uses they/them but they have like... a shadow self who uses he/they/ neos
uh this part is a reason why i dropped this story because it felt too close to me but i'm changing it to they're siblings and not the "same character"
shadow's now an elf connected to the dark while kymiz is connected to light shadow's now no longer kymiz's "evil self" haha
anyway kymiz and shadow have this bond where they can share a body and lyric find this very weird (he calls shadow "the shadow", which gave shadow his name)
uh so kymiz was originally a prince (gender neutral) who killed their whole kingdom from power overload but i don't want that anymore because that left the parents (the king and queen) dead
so now kymiz is just a naughty elf who went to the forbidden kingdom and is still royality but not by blood (parents married into the crown) and shadow's uhhhm shadow is older than kymiz by a few years and is way better at keeping himself safe and stuff kymiz SUCKS at this anyway shadow knows about kymiz but kymiz just knows they have an older brother who their family doesn't talk about much
um their parents love them a whole lot and care for them but they want to keep kymiz safe so they say "stay away from the wild infested forests and the broken kingdom" of course kymiz being kymiz went to the exact forbidden kingdom and got captured by their older brother who rules over the broken kingdom (which isn't much)
shadow's more powerfuller than kymiz but only because they found an amulet to boost his powers otherwise his powers are as weak as kymiz (meaning just having control over respective element)
in the elf culture for my story kymiz is a young adult and shadow is a full adult um they (kymiz) make some human friends but because of how long elves live the humans are old (human years)

lyric glances over at kymiz, who was once again climbing that stupid tree.
“kymiz. get out of the tree!”
kymiz, startled from lyric’s shout, unceremoniously drops out of the tree and fidgets with their robe.
lyric shakes his head. they need to stop getting distracted.
Unedited version. Shadow is not yet kymiz’s brother in this version.
Kymiz hissed, annoyed that Lyric had snuck up behind them.
“Lyric! I told you to warn me! You know how jumpy I am!”
Lyric just smiled a toothy grin.
“I enjoy seeing you jump…"
Kymiz, annoyed at Lyric, spun around and ran in the direction of the ruins.
Lyric ran after Kymiz, shouting for Kymiz to wait. Kymiz ignored Lyric.
Kymiz stood in the entrance of the ruins. A few seconds later, Lyric, out of breath, stood next to them.
“Kymiz, you really need to wait for me. I’m not as fast as you.”
Kymiz didn’t respond to Lyric. Kymiz was staring into the ruins, a vacant expression on their face. Lyric smirked and slapped Kymiz with his tail. He had always wanted to do that.
Kymiz yelped from the sudden pain and rubbed the spot Lyric hit.
“Lyric! Why did you smack me? Ow!”
Lyric chuckled silently to himself and pretended to be scared. “Kymiz! This place creeps me out. We should probably go… Ruins can be dangerous…”
Kymiz shook their head. “Lyric, I’ve been here many times. It’s perfectly safe.”
Lyric, now fully into his ‘super-scared’ act, whimpered and hid behind Kymiz. Kymiz groaned and shoved Lyric away from them.
“Lyric! Get a grip! If you really believe this place is dangerous, then leave me alone. I don’t even know why I put up with your whining.”
Lyric tugged on Kymiz’s hands with his claws. “Kymiz! What if this place is haunted?”
“By who? My ancestors? Ha. Ghost’s aren’t real, Lyric. You should know that.”
Kymiz shook off Lyric’s claws and ran off into the castle ruins, leaving Lyric behind at the entrance.
Lyric smirked, dropping their act. Kymiz had gone exactly where he had wanted Kymiz to go: walking right into Lyric’s trap.

Kymiz wandered the dusty halls of their past. The cracked walls and floors were cluttered with broken objects no longer recognizable. A faint voice echoed through the halls as Kymiz walked. The air grew colder. Kymiz shivered. The voice grew louder as Kymiz kept walking.
“Kymizzzz… Kymizzzz… Come to usss… Come…”
Kymiz ignored the voice and kept wandering the halls. The voice grew so loud that they had to cover their ears.
“Do not ignore usss… Or you will pay…”
As Kymiz blacked out, they were sure they could hear Lyric cackling in the distance, though they weren’t certain.

Kymiz woke in an empty prison cell made of stone. A spirit formed in the entrance of the cell. The spirit seemed to be laughing at Kymiz.
“What do you want, Shadow?” Kymiz hissed.
The spirit, named Shadow, pretended to be hurt by Kymiz’s harsh tone. “You wound me with your hatred.”
“Drop the act, Shadow. You captured me for a reason. What is it?”
Shadow laughed, his ghastly red eyes glowing under his black hood that contained his soul.
“Do you not feel it? Something sinister has awoken. I can help you Kymiz if you would allow us to be one once more. Do you not remember our power? The chaos? If only your idiot parents had not expelled us, discarding us like trash! They were fools to separate us. You cannot deny who you are, who we are! We are one!”
Unbeknownst to Kymiz, Shadow had been trying to use his magic on Kymiz. Both Kymiz and Shadow screamed as the spell took place.
“Shadow… Don’t— don’t do this— AUGH!”
The spell finished, and Shadow and Kymiz screamed in unity and blacked out from the pain.

Lyric grinned at the sight before him. He poked Kymiz roughly with his tail but yanked it back once he noticed Kymiz’s unnatural shadow.
Kymiz sat up, groaning from the movement and kept their eyes closed.
Lyric faked worry. “Are you okay, Kymiz?”
Kymiz sat there, clutching their head, unresponsive to Lyric’s question.
Then, in one quick motion, faster than Lyric could process, Kymiz let go of their head and opened their eyes. Kymiz’s amethyst eyes flashed a bright red as they yanked their arm into the air, forcing Lyric to the cold stone floor of the prison with a wave of their hand.
“Kymiz! Why are you doing this?” Lyric unwillingly screamed from the intense pain.
Lyric’s scream broke whatever spell Kymiz was using, causing Kymiz to collapse under the sudden recoil of the broken spell.
Once the pain faded, Lyric examined Kymiz, suddenly worried for the elf. Lyric sighed from relief. Then, realizing that he had showed affection for Kymiz, a look of pure disgust spread across his face.
Lyric shook his head, abandoning Kymiz to their fate out of fear of his actions. He decided that he needed to reexamine his thoughts, morals, and intentions — without any fear of himself or his actions.

In the edges of a ruined kingdom, there was an old willow hanging over a cobbled path. In the willow was a young moon elf known as Kymiz. A sudden breeze shook the hanging branches of the tree, tossing Kymiz off their perch and onto the rough cobbled ground. As Kymiz laid there on their back, the wind knocked out of them, a figure stood over Kymiz.
“Kymiz, you didn’t have to fall out of the tree to get down.”
The figure was smiling.
“I didn’t mean to fall, it was the wind,” Kymiz said, slightly annoyed. “As you likely know, I can’t control the weather. Now, can you just help me up?”
“You forgot ‘please’.”
“Just help me up.”
The figure laughed and helped Kymiz stand. The figure then pulled off their cloak’s hood, revealing themselves to be a drake. This knowledge didn’t surprise Kymiz, for drakes weren’t uncommon in the ruined kingdom. What was surprising was the drake’s scales.
“Your scales— they’re green.”
The figure smiled a toothy grin. “Indeed. I am of the Emerald Tribe. My kin don’t normally leave our homeland, so us meeting must be a shock for you. Anyways, what were you doing up in that tree? Other than falling out of it, that is.” The drake leaned up against the willow, waiting for Kymiz’s response.
Kymiz fidgeted with their fingers as they thought of what to say. “Firstly, you haven’t told me your name. I won’t tell you anything before you answer that. And how do you know my name?”
The figure examined their claws. “Name’s Lyric. Your name was given to me by a group of humans who live in a village just outside the ruined kingdom. Good for you to be wary. The ruined kingdom isn’t the best place for idiots.”
Kymiz shook their head. “Fine. If you really want to know, I was observing the ruins. If you sit in the tree that you’re leaning on, and look north, you can see it from here. This path leads to it.”
Lyric nodded and looked Kymiz in the eyes. “I would very much like to know why a skinny moon elf who likely has never even held a weapon before is even thinking of entering the ruins.”
Kymiz decided that their feet were more interesting than the glare Lyric was giving them. Lyric pinched the bridge of their snout, a very humanlike gesture for annoyance. “If you were to head there, unprepared, you would die in an instant.”
“Have you ever been inside the ruins?”
Lyric grinned, annoyance disappearing in an instant. “Indeed. The ruins are a sight to behold. From your excited look, I’d assume you’d want me to escort you there?” Lyric didn’t wait for a response and started off on the path.
The duo eventually reached the entrance to the ruins. An ominous feeling hung in the air as they walked closer. Lyric suddenly jolted to a stop, causing Kymiz to run into Lyric.
“Lyric, why did you stop?”
Lyric held up a claw and motioned Kymiz to be silent.
“Don’t. Move.”
As Lyric crept forward, a dark shadow launched out at Kymiz.
Kymiz cried out in shock as the shadowy being grabbed them. Lyric spun around and ran to help, but was too late. The shadow had disappeared, taking Kymiz with it.
Why do I even care about what happens to that idiot elf? We only just met! I can’t believe myself! Lyric groaned and ran into the ruins, knowing Kymiz wouldn’t last long alone. Lyric ran through the cold stone corridors, dodging fallen bricks that littered the floors.

SYNOPSIS.
In a world where monsters and humans coexist, anything can happen. Especially in the brownstones of Brooklyn, New York City. 
The famous vampire poet, Virgil, lives with his roommate, Bea, a werewolf and former rock star drummer of BLUDHOUNDS turned grade school teacher. With his very last chapbook in the works and an award ceremony to attend, Virgil has a speech to write. But when his literary agent and best friend (and Bea’s on and off girlfriend), Calypso is found dead, he and Bea are spun into the world of murder mysteries and conspiracy. The threat of succumbing to their monstrosity increases as tensions and risks run higher, and Virgil and Bea must learn to face their grief together despite their differences. With the help of Bea’s brother, Seven; a fairy from the Bronx, Juno; an unlikely ally, and an eager human barista, a team of monsters (and Aaron) is just what the five boroughs need to defeat The Hunters once and for all. 
In this romantic comedy turned murder mystery, The Poet Virgil tells a story of death, love, and what it means to be seen as a monster.

The numbers stared at Eijiro, taunting him with every blink. It felt like there was never enough space in your enormous king-sized bed, but somehow, now that there wasn't an angry blonde on the other side of the mattress, it felt remarkably empty.
You were long since asleep, curled up and drooling on his chest before 11:30pm - despite your adamant denial that you 'do not drool'. You were tucked up against his side, Dynamight plushie firmly secured under your chin.
The sturdy hero thought it was the purest thing he'd ever seen, and it gave him a reason to text Katsuki so late. He knew under normal circumstances, the blond would kill him for being awake.
He doubted Kats would even be awake himself, but if he wasn't, at least he'd see Ejiro's text in the morning.
So he snapped a quick photo of the two of you, cringing at the brightness of the flash.

The red head considered his options for less than half a second before rolling away ever so slightly so he could send his partner a more…scandalous photo.
Pointing the camera towards his chest, Ejirou made sure to get his pec in frame once more, only slightly hardened this time, knowing how much the explosive hero loved them- even if he would rather die before admitting to that.
A cheeky smile showed off his sharp teeth and tongue that hung teasingly out from between them. 
He winced at the flash once more, but decided his mission was worth it. Satisfied with himself, he pressed the send button as you stirred beside him.

ALRIGHT LISTEN UP MOTHERS AND FUCKERS. I’m bored, so today we’re going to be talking about medieval clothing. Specifically fourteenth century English clothing because that’s what I’m good at. (Source: trust me bro I’m a reenacter). Also this is all female stuff - sorry masc leaning folks, I’ll get to you someday!
Disclaimer: this is not completely comprehensive or nuanced in the slightest, it’s just a quick overview guide. Do your own research xoxo.

So, corsets, stays, and shapewear in general kind of wasn’t a thing yet. So your underwear was a shift, which was awesome because it was also your pajamas. They were usually made of linen, though some might have been made of cotton is you were rich.

There is evidence for supportive shifts for busy support, like this one from the fourteenth century!

Then, over the shift, yet under your main dress went your pockets, which tied on at the waist. Your dresses had slits do that you could get at your stuff without flashing everyone lol.

Third slide: your dress, or the cotehardie. (Pronounced coat hardy)
Over the shift you put your dress, sometimes referred to as either a kirtle or cotehardie. 14th century people started actually form-fitting their clothes more than previous centuries. These needed fastenings, which were mostly lacings (spiral lacings specifically), or buttons made of either metal or cloth, used at the front of the dress from neckline to waist, and on the sleeves from elbow to wrist, with exceptions of course.
(Sidenote: fuck sleeves, all my homies hate sleeves)

Dresses seemed to be mostly wool, though I often use linen for mine because I live in Australia and it’s hot in summer and I don’t want to die. Most often they weren’t lined (that is what the underwear was for).

The neckline of these dresses was usually round or an oval shape, and some manuscripts have it so wide that it falls off the shoulders slightly.

Clothing was a lot more colourful than the movies would have us believe lol.

Fourth slide: Dress two; electric boogaloo

You could also wear an overdress, which was usually of a contrasting colour and had shorter sleeves.
As well as fashion, they would have been used for extra warmth, and so were usually made of wool.

Common people would have only owned a couple of different outfits, as fabric was super expensive.

A common late thirteenth to mid fourteenth century overdress was the ladies surcoat, which had big holes instead of sleeves.
Belts would have been worn underneath the surcoat.

Fifth slide: Hair and headwear
Hair was worn braided and pinned up, with a coif (cap) and either a wimple or veil, or both. The wimple and/or veil were usually pinned to the coif, or secured on a band of fabric around the head.
Veils would be either oval, or a D shape. Wimples were rectangular. A wimple goes under the chin and a veil goes over your head.

All the headwear would be made of linen, thin wool, or silk, depending on class. The veils could also be made really fancy by ruffling the front edge or by attaching pearls.

I ride the bus in my medieval gear a lot because of events, and way too many people think I’m Amish because of my veil. It’s honestly just funny at this point. I should keep a tally.

Fake braids were a thing! Blonde hair in particular was very fashionable, and bleaching or fake braids were sometimes used to achieve that.

Sixth slide: Cloaks and hoods
These would have actually been two seperate garments! Integrated hoods on cloaks didn’t actually become a thing until the … seventeenth century or so? (Citation needed).
Cloaks were a lot simpler than the typical cloak we think of nowadays. Often they were just a rectangle of wool, or by the fourteenth century, sometimes a half circle.
They were almost always wool as far as I know, and were generally fastened by a cloak pin or buttons.

Women’s hoods could be short and open, or with a longer skirt and closed with buttons. Liripipe (pronounced leery-pipe) hoods were named for the tube of fabric that dangled off the back of your hood, varying in length. As well as a fashion statement, it could also be wrapped around the neck like a scarf if it got cold.
Hoods were nearly always wool I’m pretty sure, though they were often lined with linen, silk, or cotton.
[General description: a short liripipe hood would be open, with the bottom only reaching your shoulders. They were made from a single piece of fabric that would wrap over your head, with the seam down the centre back of your head. It was flared at the bottom by inserting triangular gores. At the front edge near your face there would be a strip jutting out that went from one side of your chin, over your head, and down to the other side. This would usually be folded back, revealing the lining colour. The bottom of the hood could either just reach the base of your neck, or reach down to just past your shoulders. The former would usually be open at the front, with fastenings optional. The latter option with the longer skirt was almost always able to be fastened up the front with fabric buttons. The liripipe itself was a thin flat tube of fabric fastened at the centre top back of the hood. End ID]
Fun fact, 90% of why I decided to reenact the fourteenth century specifically was because of liripipe hoods.
Seventh slide: Feet (not in a weird way)
Hose were used to keep your legs warm. For women they were usually knee height, and fastened just underneath it with a garter or tie.

Hose usually would have been made from wool, and were cut on the diagonal (bias) of the fabric to get the maximum stretch possible from the fabric. They still were looser than modern tights are though!
Knitted socks were also a thing I’m pretty sure, but I don’t know enough about them. Sorry!
Shoes were simple, usually referred to as turnshoes because of how they were made. Fun fact: the lack of foot support means that turnshoes are similar to going barefoot in terms of how you walk. Some reenactors love it, some hate it, and some are indifferent lol.

Because shoes were really hard to waterproof, (ask me how I know), and didn’t have solid soles, wooden pattens (pronounced pat-tens) were worn to keep you off the ground while outside.

Eighth slide: Accessories
These are a few other items that might have made up a working woman’s outfit.
Aprons would definitely have been used while working. One were just a large rectangle of cloth tucked into the belt, some were smocked to draw in the fabric. They generally stopped at the waist.

Pretty broaches and other jewellery existed! There was cheaper stuff made of pewter for the lower classes.

They had a funny sense of humour as well… and they weren’t all prudes.

Eating knives were worn on the belt, though it is debated whether women would have carried one. I do because I’m a modern fourteenth century woman.

Belts are a curiously debated topic. Some people reckon that women would have definitely worn them, others say they they weren’t used by women much at all. As far as I know there are depictions of both, so choose what you’d prefer. They are great for hanging stuff on I gotta say.

Pretty little purses would have probably been worn. I don’t know enough about them to say anything else though.

Ninth slide: Fancy Shmancy
There is a lot I haven’t covered, especially in the realm of the upper classes. Here is some of what has been missed. (Buckle up because this section is very image heavy. I will be as concise as possible).

Dis you notice all the “usually” “commonly” and “often’s” in there? That’s because I cannot possibly illustrate everything that we know of the time in only ten slides, nor do I know everything, so I have just tried to show what seems to be the most depicted.

okay so uh. cw for transphobia but this reblog i found made me insane and gave me brainworms so i want to talk about it a bit. i’m not going to attempt to refute the actual claims she’s making (ie: that menstruation is “a women’s issue” and that if women ≠ bio sex then feminism is doomed), i’m coming at this from the perspective that you already agree with me because i don’t care to argue with transphobes. i just kinda want to ramble about the terms she’s using and how they relate to the original post.

so like, this is stupid terf bullshittery but it also (imo) presents a very misleading version of the terms it’s trying to use. prescriptivism and descriptivism describe 2 kinds of approach linguists can take when analysing language, and neither one is necessarily “wrong”. descriptivism is often encouraged as a viewpoint for researchers within the world of linguistic scholarship, as looking at how communities use language without passing judgement on whether that language is correct or not often provides a better understanding of those communities than expecting them to conform to your standards. conversely, prescriptivism can be helpful in everyday communication, as many people have a much easier time communicating unambiguously when all parties involved have similar language (hence why i’m choosing to write this post by adhering mostly to standard english grammar, because most english speakers will have an easier time understanding me that way). again, neither one is inherently wrong, it’s just that different approaches can be preferred in different settings (and you can very much have prescriptivism in a scholarly setting, such as expecting your students to use the expected language of analysis for their essays, or descriptivism in a more casual setting, such as asking someone what they mean by a word that you use differently, instead of just expecting them to use your meaning).
okay then. so where does that leave us with This?
i’d argue that there are elements of both ideas in the original post. telling people which term is the right one is arguably a pretty prescriptivist approach (remember, this doesn’t mean it’s the wrong approach), however, talking about what other terms imply and how they are interpreted by listeners is a fairly descriptivist approach. saying that “women and people who menstruate” centres cis womanhood is very much descriptive. getting back to the point on prescriptivism though, telling someone that they should use different language because the language they are currently using is harmful to you is not necessarily a bad thing. “calling people slurs with the intent to upset them is bad, don’t do it” is a prescriptivist approach, as it makes a value judgement and attempts to change the language, however, i think most people would also agree with me that it’s a good take. as far as “what lens does this post use to discuss language?” goes, i’m going to say both and that that’s actually a good thing for the purposes it aims to achieve.
psa for cis people: it's not "women and people who menstruate," it's just people who menstruate. adding "women and" implies that
the only relevant women are (menstruating) cis women, so there's no need to add any qualifiers (like "cis")
womanhood is central to menstruation & menstruation is central to womanhood by unnecessarily bringing up gender right before using a gender neutral phrase
just say people who menstruate. women who menstruate are people. saying "women and people who menstruate" is a nonsense phrase that only serves to soothe the egos of cis women. they can cope with not having their ciswomanhood centered, I promise.

It’s depressing as hell, he runs the risk of seeing Taylor fucking Kelly on his TV, and if something he actually needs to know about is going on, he’ll hear it from Buck some time in the next few days anyway. All that to say, Eddie isn’t watching the news; he’s just flipping through the channels.
“Pick me, choose me!” Meredith Grey is saying in a rerun of Grey’s Anatomy.

“—low pressure system moving in from the north,” a meteorologist says on The Weather Channel.

Eddie puts the remote down. He doesn’t make a habit of watching the news, but every once in a while, something catches his attention.
The image on the screen is an aerial shot of a massive, burning multicar pile-up. The 136 is on scene, but they can’t have been there long if the size and ferocity of the fire is anything to go by.
“—compounded by the explosion of a tanker carrying gasoline—”
Eddie winces. They’re going to be there all night if they don’t get more companies on scene. He reaches for the remote at the same time as the shot switches from the aerial to a reporter on the ground. She’s not what stops him from changing the channel. The crushed and smoldering Jeep behind her is.
And it’s—there’ve got to be a thousand silver Jeeps in Los Angeles. And Buck wouldn’t—why would he even be on the 405? So obviously it’s not Buck’s Jeep, even if it is the same color and probably year. It’s just a shitty little coincidence.
An unpleasant pressure begins to build in Eddie’s chest.
He’ll just—it’s not late. He doesn’t even have to tell Buck why he’s calling. Eddie scoops his phone off the table, navigates to his favorites, and taps Buck’s name. The call goes straight to voicemail. Eddie frowns and taps his name again. He gets the same result.
“—and rescue is under way, but I’m being told that until the fire is contained—”
Buck’s phone is dead, probably. Or—or he took Jee to that movie he was talking about so he had to turn it off. That’s—he’s sure that’s it. Eddie rubs at his sternum and stands. He’s just… feeling a little paranoid.
He calls Maddie. She answers on the second ring.
“Hello?”
“Hey, Maddie,” Eddie says, brushing a hand across the back of his neck. “It’s Eddie.”
“Uh, hey,” Maddie says. “Is everything okay?”
Eddie winces. “Yeah, I think so. I was just wondering if you’ve talked to Buck tonight.” He’s being ridiculous. Buck’s fine.
“No,” Maddie says, obvious confusion in her tone. “Why, did something happen?”
“No, no,” Eddie says. “I just haven’t been able to get ahold of him.”
Maddie hums thoughtfully. “He might’ve had a dental appointment earlier,” she says.
“Okay, thanks,” Eddie says. “I’ll probably just swing by the loft then.” There’s a pit in his stomach. Buck’s fine. At worst he has a cavity or two. He’s fine.
“Oh!” Maddie exclaims. “Hold on, let me check his location; I’ll save you the trip if he’s not there.”
Eddie pinches the bridge of his nose. Duh. He has Buck’s location too. He didn’t even need to bother Maddie with—
“Nope, sorry,” she says.
Eddie takes a breath. He’s fine. Buck’s fine. “Maddie,” he says slowly, “where is he?”
“Um, as of twenty-eight minutes ago, looks like he was driving through Culver City, on the 405, I think,” she replies. “Eddie, what’s going on?”
“Oh god,” he breathes. He can feel the blood draining from his face.
“Eddie?” Maddie asks. She’s starting to sound worried.
On the TV, the camera zooms in and pans across the wreckage. It reaches the Jeep. Hanging from the rearview mirror is a bigfoot air freshener that looks exactly like the one Chimney gave him as a joke a few months ago. It’s—
It’s Buck’s Jeep. He’s fine. He has to be fine.
“—understand that search and rescue efforts are underway, but as of right now, no additional survivors have been located.”
He could be dead.
Eddie’s knees give out beneath him. He lands heavily on the couch.
“Don’t turn on the news,” he says.
“What? Why?” Maddie asks.
“There was an accident on the 405,” Eddie replies mechanically. “I think it might be bad.”

A small furrow etches itself between Buck’s brows. Eddie smooths it with his thumb. He drags his gaze back down Buck’s face and finds his eyes open and fixed on him.
“Eddie,” he whispers in the dark.
He takes a deep breath. “I’m fine,” he lies.
Buck frowns. He watches Eddie for a long moment, then something in his expression shifts. “Switch sides with me,” he says.
Eddie blinks. “What?”
Buck huffs a soft breath. “Just—trust me?”
And oh, Eddie does. He carefully climbs over Buck, who shuffles to his right to give Eddie more room.
“Okay?” he asks quietly.
“Almost,” Buck replies.
He pulls Eddie flush against him and guides his head down onto his chest. Beneath him, Buck’s heart beats strong and steady.

hey everyone! sorry it took a bit for this to be done (and i apologize for the bit of a cliffhanger but i have the “rest” of this done and will be coming out so i just liked how this ended haha)

You get back to Ana’s apartment and it’s quiet and dark. You don’t even bother turning the lights off you  hang up your keys and head to the guest bedroom you’re staying in. 
You hop in the shower quickly before putting on a big t shirt and heading to bed. Out of curiosity you turned on your phone and opened google.

You take a deep breath before answering. “I did have a good time,” you pause, “but if I’m being honest, I just wanted a one night thing to distract me from- well it doesn’t matter from what.” you shake off the mopey feeling creeping back up. 
She looks confused. “Ok, I don’t fully understand but I respect your boundaries.” she states but she doesn’t get up.

You set your bag on the counter and head over to sit next to her. “I went to the coffee shop to do some work,” you reply nonchalantly.

“You can say her name you know… she’s not

You laugh, “It’s ok. So how was that?” you tease. 
“Really good,” she smiles. “Oh and she asked if we wanted to go to a party she’s having tomorrow?” she slips in quickly. 
“Oh god I don’t know, Alexia’s probably gonna be there isn’t she?” you ask worriedly. The last thing you needed was seeing her again. 
“Oh come on, I don’t want to go by myself and I like her. If you see her you can just ignore her, flirt with another one of her friends, let her know you don’t want anything for sure,” she begs, “Please? for me?” she begs like a small child. 
You think about it for a second, “Fine.” 
Ana practically jumps for joy and kisses your forehead, “Thank you thank you. It’ll be fun I promise,” she runs over to grab her phone, presumably to text Ona and let her know we’re coming. 
You get comfortable on the couch and put on an episode of Modern Family before you and Ana sat on the small table in the kitchen eating some leftover Paella from a few nights ago, still as good as new. 
After eating you decide to go to bed early, needing to catch up on sleep. When you get in bed you open instagram and once again are reminded of Alexia’s message. 
And the fact that you hadn’t followed her back. 
You were too tired to do anything about this—smartly at least. 
You ignored it again for now and went to bed. 
The next morning you wake up dreading this party— and that was an understatement. 
But you had to get up to get some
work done.
You get up and sit yourself on the couch with a cup of coffee. You didn’t bother to change out of your pajamas since you had no meetings today.

Misa was about to say something else,
