i feel selfish—protective?—over the details of it, so i’ll keep it simple.

we went on a date last night before we go to stockholm tomorrow and…in typical john and hayley fashion, nothing went right. i mean, every little thing he planned for us went wrong. a lost dinner reservation, a taxi cab that ghosted us, rain…

so i did my best to balance him out however i could. i thrive in chaos, so…it was fitting, right? we found a crepe stand across from the eiffel tower and got two different kinds so we could share. i liked his better, so he swapped with me without me having to ask. the sunset behind the eiffel was beautiful, but—a little short lived because it started down pouring.

like, cats and fucking dogs. so i made him dance with me in it a little before we were both soaked to the bone, teeth chattering, wrecks. we called another cab and i think the driver thought we were insane because we just…couldn’t stop laughing.

back at the villa, we kissed at the front door—with me against the dining room table—with me against our bedroom door—with me lifted up on the dresser. and then…it died down. we got a little shy, like we’re not ready to take it that far yet so we just changed into warm, dry clothes. he made us each a cup of tea and we curled up together and it was good.

it was really, really, really good. i wanna ask him what’s next, as our time together starts to run out and his flight home to return to his own responsibilities looms closer and closer, but right now…i think i’d follow him anywhere, like eurydice trailing behind orpheus. i don’t have to know what’s next, as long as i know he’s the one in it with me.
