very important official zine stuff for real this time guys please spread this around
we realized we haven’t asked you what you want this zine to be, so here is poll with some different options for things we could do, but this still won’t set things in stone cause we’re aware that we’re working with a relatively small albeit amazing awesome and extremely appreciated audience, but it’ll give us a good idea for what direction you want the zine to go in.
some examples of what we mean for added coherence, please read before voting unless you wanna be like that guy in the Simpsons movie:
an eras tour zine (yes this is a Taylor swift joke shut up if you’re judging us you’re wrong) would be like different pieces dedicated to each, for lack of a better word, “thing” that Joel has done. @/inthelittlezine is a great example of this concept, except the mod has far better organizational skills than we ever could hope to
tourism brochure would be like we pick a specific thing Joel, such as esmp 1 or 2, or x life, or one of his hardcore/survival worlds (I haven’t listed Hermitcraft season 10 cause that’s still in progress but if you guys really really wanna, that too), and make an in universe guide to it expanding upon the lore and characters and builds and stuff. @/scarland-artbook is an amazing example of this, though of course we would be a much smaller scale of a project.
do you wanna tell a story? Or ride our bikes around the halls? We can’t help with the second one, we’re not very sporty people, but this option is both the most difficult and dangerous to the success of the zine, and the one that intrigues me specifically the most. Like, guys, I know I’m polling this, but I’m secretly hoping that this one wins. Like all the hoping. Ever. But I’m not gonna just say yeah let’s do this because if like only three people also wanna this zine will never get made and I will be really, really sad. This option is basically do we wanna take something Joel has done and work together to create an original universe/story based off of it, each contributing a small part of the story in comic or writing form. Unless you’ve been living under a rock and/or this post broke containment sorry if it did I assure I’m usually mostly sane, you probably know where I’m shamelessly stealing taking inspiration from. We heart you @/hotguycomiczine. If we went with this we would obviously create our own universe and storyline, and we’d try to base it off of one of Joel’s characters if possible. Also, if we went with this, we’d start the mod and application process and stuff and once we knew everyone who was going to be in the zine then we’d all get together and start working on the story, and this is the part I’m worried about because if we’re all stumped then I guess the zine is out of luck and I’d be sad. Also even if we did do this, like preemptively temper your expectations I am no where near as good as the legends at hotguycomiczine at organization and promotion and story writing and all that good stuff. However, if you have an idea for a story and want to share, send us an ask cause we might just end up using it.
I think the last two are mostly self explanatory.
please reblog for reach.

Battle Subway Brawl! (Feat. Cynthia & Wally!)
The subway bosses have invited the two Pokémon champions to have the full Battle Subway experience. In exchange they get to test the power of mega-evolutions!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
My contribution to the @battle-facility-zine! This digital zine focuses on all battle facility leaders in the whole Pokémon series (including spinoffs!) and it’s totally FREE! Please check it out for more amazing Pokémon/submas content (both art & fics)!!
This is my first time being part of a zine project and I’m glad to say was a great experience! The whole thing was well organised, the arrangers were nice and easy to communicate with & kept us well informed, and the other contributors were happy to give feedback!
This comic is my continuation for Pokémon Masters EX event ”All Aboard The Victory Train”! Cynthia visits Unova regularly to see Caitlin and compete in Pokémon World Tournament but for some curious reason hasn’t been to the Battle Subway. The twins must feel anxious about it!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
As a side note, during my character research @skyreptain pointed out to me that in Wally’s room in ORAS there is a globe with pins in both Sinnoh and Unova, but it isn’t addressed any further. What could this mean?
Tumblr media
I wish I could’ve included many more ideas in here but cramming a battle between 8 characters within 4 pages was already quite the challenge so I had to cut off quite a bit (and I had to rush some parts unfortunately). I hope the result is still entertaining!
Thanks for reading!!

Read the FAQ Zine ▶
I put the zine I made last year on my website. It took me a full year to find a permanent home for it, because I have the brainweird that makes the focus bad, and I’ve been consistently busy since last year. But hey, better late than never.
This project was inspired by the work of Potawatomi botanist Robin Wall Kimmerer. During an interview with On Being, Kimmerer relates the story of a certain question that she asks her students:
“In talking with my environment students, they wholeheartedly agree that they love the earth. But when I ask them the question of “Does the earth love you back?” there’s a great deal of hesitation and reluctance and eyes cast down, like, oh, gosh, I don’t know. Are we even allowed to talk about that? That would mean that the earth had agency and that I was not an anonymous little blip on the landscape, that I was known by my home place.
So it’s a very challenging notion, but I bring it to the garden and think about the way that when we, as human people, demonstrate our love for one another, it is in ways that I find very much analogous to the way that the earth takes care of us, is when we love somebody, we put their wellbeing at the top of a list and we want to feed them well. We want to nurture them. We want to teach them. We want to bring beauty into their lives. We want to make them comfortable and safe and healthy. That’s how I demonstrate love, in part, to my family, and that’s just what I feel in the garden [laughs], as the earth loves us back in beans and corn and strawberries. Food could taste bad. It could be bland and boring, but it isn’t. There are these wonderful gifts that the plant beings, to my mind, have shared with us. And it’s a really liberating idea to think that the earth could love us back, but it also opens the notion of reciprocity that with that love and regard from the earth comes a real deep responsibility.”
- “The Intelligence of Plants,” with Robin Wall Kimmerer and Krista Tippett
I posed Kimmerer’s question to some of my online circles. Their responses are recorded in this zine, accompanied by the work of many photographers, and my own art.
I am many of thoughts and short of words right now, just as I was a year ago. Mostly I’m tremendously touched and grateful for those who participated. You have put words to environmental grief that I often struggle to articulate, and affirmed my belief that we all hold poetry inside of us—we just need the time and space to express it.

IT HAS ARRIVED
To celebrate the anniversary of Tears of the Kingdom's release, and to revisit Hyrule, we have put together a FREE 127-page cookbook zine for fans to enjoy. Link to downloadable PDF at the bottom.
About the Zine
The goal of this zine has been to imagine and capture snapshots of Link and Zelda’s internal and external journey between Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom. One of the central mechanics in both games is cooking; you cook to stay alive, you cook to improve your abilities, and you cook to forge relationships with other characters through side quests. We wanted to centre this mechanism, so decided to frame the zine as Link and Zelda’s joint travel journal.
In these pages you will therefore find a collection of short stories, small illustrations, and numerous recipes. Our team has been hard at work, collaborating and developing ideas to flesh out Link and Zelda’s journey.
Each short story is written from either Link or Zelda’s perspective. They are part narrative, part journaled notes. You will find that they have been given each their font to represent their writings. Zelda’s is the more refined one, while Link’s is the more sprawling one. I’m sure you will see the difference.
You will also find small notes and letters from other characters – notably Tulin, Teba, Riju, and Kilton – as well as an excerpt from the Lucky Clover Gazette.
The recipes themselves have been fashioned as though they were written by Link and Zelda. This does mean their fonts have been used, but we hope any difficulty in reading it is forgiven on the basis that the overall conceit of the zine is preserved. Should there be a great demand, we may look into creating a second edition using friendlier fonts.
As for the illustrations, these have been created both with the goal of illustrating the dishes – and processes where necessary – and to imply that Link and Zelda also illustrate their journeys.
All our artists, short story writers, and recipe writers have come into this zine with different skills and abilities. There may therefore be subtle differences in styles, which we have chosen to retain to exhibit each contributor’s personal flair.
Finally, I want to thank those who have contributed their time and skills to the creation of this zine: Alex, Cenza, Deldon, Mina, Rose, Sam, Scarlet, Terek, and Mr Theodore. It’s been a pleasure working with you all on this project, and I look forward to the next time our paths cross.
Thank you.

Print Files Instructions
These files have been formatted for an A5 Linen Wrap individual print through Lulu.com. The current listed price is £24.23 | $30.34 (shipping not included).
To give the illustrations a chance to shine, we recommend printing with Premium Colour on paper 80# White. To get your print copy, follow these steps:
Create an account with Lulu.com. It's completely free. If you already have an account, simply log in.
Go to 'Create' in the top bar and select 'Print Book'.
Click 'Start my Print Book'.
Under 'Select a Goal', choose 'Print Your Book'. Follow the remaining instructions on the page and press 'Design Your Project'.
Under 'Interior File Upload', upload the interior files found in the downloadable Print Files Folder (see above). This should automatically fill in book size and page count.
Under 'Interior Color', choose 'Premium Color'. For a cheaper print, choose 'Standard Color'.
Under 'Paper Type', choose '80# White – Coated'. For a cheaper print, choose '60# White'.
Under 'Book Binding', choose 'Linen Wrap'. The cover has been designed specifically for this and is not compatible with any other binding option.
Select your choice of colour for linen and print. We recommend tan (linen) and gold (print). These are the colours that will be on the linen wrap, underneath the paper cover.
Under 'Cover Finish', select 'Glossy' or 'Matte' according to your preferences. This makes no difference price-wise. We recommend 'Matte'.
Under 'Book Cover Design', upload the cover file found in the downloadable Print Files Folder (see above).
You should now be able to see a preview under 'Book Preview'. Check that you are satisfied with the result and select 'Review Book'. This will take you to a page from which you can order your individual print copy. Due to the size of the file, Lulu may take a few minutes to process the files before you can place the order, but this should take no more than 10 minutes. Simply go have something to eat, then refresh the page when you return and you should be able to order your copy.
Happy cooking!

Catie: Do you think the henchmen need to unionize?
Cato: actually….if they HAVE to, but, I don’t think they-
Ed barges into the door with a BAM and angry footsteps
Edward: YOU TWO HAVE DONE IT THIS TIME!!
Catie and Cato: wait what?-
Edward: you’re going to explain to me why you’ve been in the Rogues! The Podcast fandom for HOW LONG and yet you NEVER talk about me even though I’m the main character!
Catie: have you like actually seen my content? I talk about you like exclusively
Edward: (sticks his hand up to silence Catie) Oh we all know what happened to your “content” while you were in England.
Edward: AND YOU…you’re a TRAITOR! You wear that symbol and color with SHAME!
Cato: Pink and Green are complementary colors, I have a brand to keep up with.
Edward: That is NOT an excuse. The idea that you are that good at drawing Jonathan Crane is vile. And now…you’re going to make it up to me.
Cato and Catie: Wait what? (Huh?)
Edward: You are going to tell ME about the spectacular, well thought out plan YOU have CREATED. To apologize to ME for your atrocious lack of Riddler themed content
Edward: So what is it?? What’s that great master plan of yours? I’m listening and awaiting an answer.
Cato and Catie fumble a bit as they try to speak on their behalf. This could be improvised between Catie and Cato while recording.
Catie snaps her fingers at a probable solution.
Catie: The Zine!!! We have a zine.
Cato: You are the main character in our upcoming Zine.
Catie: a big art collaboration featuring 36 fantastic artists, all drawing YOUR likeness.
Cato: including an exclusive interview with-
Edward: wow! Don’t care, tell me the parts about ME.
Cato: well… It features many illustrations, writings, and Comics from various moments from the hit ‘ROGUES! The Podcast’
Catie: it features mainly you, and plenty of background characters such as Jonathan Crane, Oswald Cobblepot, Laura Cameron, Query and Echo, and more! But it’s all just for highlighting your existence and greatness as The Riddler.
Edward: …. You’re just kissing my ass aren't you. This zine isn’t just about me! You’re lying!
Catie: Actually statistically you’re featured in 25 pieces while Jonathan Crane for example is only in ____ pieces which is like a ___ difference.
Edward: Do I look like someone who doesn’t know basic arithmetic?
There are some strong knocks on the door
Cato: I’ll get it.
Cato opens the door revealing Jonathan Crane
Jon: Well well well I knew I heard a narcissist and my favorite overreacter! Have any drawings of me yet? You know people go crazy when you draw me (Jon chuckle)
Cato: (forced laughter) HAHAHAHA! I'm gonna go to the other room now.
Catie: (forced laughter) HAHHAHAHAHA. You’re gonna sit down. HAHAHAHAHA
Cato: (forced laughter turns to defeat) OK OK.
Edward: No no! They’re not drawing you! They have a lot of drawings of ME to catch up on since this little Zine project isn’t even centered around me!
Jon: Of course it’s not all about you Ed. It’s Rogues! The fanzine not Riddler! The fanzine
Catie and Cato: that's right!
Catie: it features almost everyone that appears in Rogues! the podcast!
Cato: including iconic scenes from all the seasons and special events like Lockup’s Lockdown and murder in the house of mystery
Captain Boomerang for some reason: am I in it?
Catie and Cato: NO
Edward: You know. This could be a good thing. More people would see how much better I am.
Jon: You are insufferable, you know that right?
Edward: And I’m in more zine pieces than you. That means some people find me charming.
Jon: you two. When is this zine thing out?
Catie: January 31st!
Cato: and it’s free so you don’t have to pay to see it
Edward: Ah, perfect. People don’t even have to pay to see Jon’s ugly mug
Jon: Oh you're funny. That was funny.
Cato: you know what would be funny? If you guys left right now.
Catie: yeah you interrupted Cato’s vampire Jon drawing time
Jon: Vampire Jon?
Edward: And that is our cue to leave! You two need to feature me more!
Catie/Cato: yes sir will do!
Jon and Edward leave
Cato: I’m killing you
Catie: WHAT DID I DO!?

News for Gamers
So the most notable recent gaming news is that there’s going to be a whole lot less gaming news going forward. Which to most of you is probably a massive win. See, IGN announced that they’ve bought roundabout half of the remaining industry that isn’t IGN, and with online news also dying a slow death due to the approaching new wave of journalism called “absolutely nothing”, I can’t imagine IGN and its newly acquired subsidiaries are long for this world.
Not too long ago, I was studying some magazines for my Alan Wake development history categorization project (please don’t ask), and reading the articles in these magazines led me to a startling realisation: Holy shit! This piece of gaming news media doesn’t make me want to kill myself out of second hand embarrassment!
Many of the magazines of yesteryear typically went with the approach of “spend weeks and sometimes months researching the article, and write as concise a section as you can with the contents”. Every magazine contains at least 2 big several-page spreads of some fledgeling investigative journalist talking to a bunch of basement-dwelling nerd developers and explaining their existence to the virginal minds of the general public.
Contrast this to modern journalism which goes something like:
Pick subject
Write title
???
Publish
Using this handy guide, let’s construct an article for, oh I dunno, let’s say Kotaku.
First we pick a subject. Let’s see… a game that’s coming out in the not too distant future…Let’s go within Super Monkey Ball: Banana Rumble. Now we invent a reason to talk about it. Generally this’d be a twitter post by someone with 2 followers or something. I’ll search for the series and pick the newest tweet.
Tumblr media
Perfect. Finally we need an entirely unrelated game series that has way more clout to attach to the title… What else features platforming and a ball form… Oh, wait. I have the perfect candidate! Thus we have our title:
Sonic-like Super Monkey Ball: Banana Rumble rumoured to have a gay protagonist
What? The contents of the article? Who cares! With the invention of this newfangled concept called “social media”, 90% of the users are content with just whining about the imagined contents of the article based on the title alone. The remaining 10% who did actually click on the article for real can be turned away by just covering the site in popups about newsletters, cookies, login prompts and AI chatbots until  they get tired of clicking the X buttons. This way, we can avoid writing anything in the content field, and leave it entirely filled with lorem ipsum.
Somewhere along the way from the 2000s to now, we essentially dropped 99% of the “media” out of newsmedia. News now is basically a really shit title and nothing more. Back in the day, when newscycles were slower, most articles could feature long interviews with the developers, showing more than just shiny screenshots, but also developer intentions, hopes, backgrounds and more.
Newsmedia is the tongues that connects the audience and the developers in the great french kiss of marketing video games. Marketing departments generally hold up the flashiest part of the game up for people to gawk at, but that also tells the audience very little about the game in the end, other than some sparse gameplay details. It was the job of the journalist to bring that information across to the slightly more perceptive core audiences. Now with the backing of media gone, a very crucial part of the game development process is entirely missing.
It’s easier to appreciate things when they’re gone I suppose. But at the same time, since gaming journalism is slowly dying from strangling itself while also blaming everything around it for that, there is a sizable gap in the market for newer, more visceral newshounds. So who knows, maybe someone of the few people reading my blogs could make the next big internet gaming ‘zine? Because I’m pretty sure anyone here capable of stringing more than two sentences together is a more adept writer than anyone at Kotaku right now.

I'm a little shy! But I would like to express my amazement and admiration! A while ago I found your Shadow Chase art, I loved it and became a fan, you create very funny stories and your art is beautiful, but that's not the point, I started following you because of that, but then I realized that you have many others projects and You are also very busy with your personal life. My question is how is everything organized and planned to advance a project despite academic/work responsibilities? I've seen that you even have collaborations with others and I keep thinking "this person is great." As a final note, I just want to leave my good wishes and hope you have a nice week. <3
Tumblr media
Gosh, so many compliments in one ask, I‘m still a little loss for words. Thank you so much for reading my work and looking into my other projects, collabs and art! I hope you‘ve been enjoying them. ❤️
I think there is no denying that I need to organize myself a little bit to make everything work. I think I‘ve always used drawing, especially drawing comics, as a way to breathe and when I started uni I promised myself I would continue drawing somehow. The first semester was hell, but I finished all the way. 💪 And I had the same mindset for working, so when I started this year I was very motivated to draw. Lol I think it also helped that I had several different projects to work on so when I wasn’t in the mood for black and white I would move to something colorful. Comics also offer the possibility to work on different parts. Do I want to work on the story, on the storyboards, on the actual drawings or just editing…? A lot of options. And this is something which I heard on a video on AI but artist and creative people in general don‘t create in other to have more content but to get something out of their head and feel the satisfaction of creating a certain idea and I felt that very much. And then there is the joy of collabs and while there were unfortunately more failed attempts at collabs I’m very glad for those which eventually resulted in great projects. ❤️ I might have to take actual breaks from drawing when I get back to my thesis. I finished all the work but need to write the discussion part and wow, how much I don‘t wanna work on that.
Currently I use my time on commutes for drawings digitally or making storyboards. In the evening I finish private stuff and when time is left I work on traditional art. Shadow Chase is the only project where I try to have an overview on how many pages I have done and want to finish before the next upload. Other works can usually go up once finished. When I create something for fan projects like zines, bigbangs, etc. I usually just try to finish said project right away. I don‘t like procrastinating (except my thesis I guess) and rather have stuff than can be finished done right away and focus on my other projects again.  Shades of Tourmaline was definitely my biggest collab project yet and with the amount of art planned it took like 3 years to finish because that was something I couldn‘t get done right away. 😂 fortunately clef was very patient with me (and kept me distracted with new collabs, oops).
The short answer would be I try to draw as much as possible because it is just a lot of fun with the additional bonus of entertaining a few people. ❤️

Sorry for the hiatus again!! I'm slowly getting back into journaling. In the meantime while I'm getting reorganized, here's the spread I made when my very first piece of physical zine merch I made came in!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Turnabout ballroom @turnaboutballroom !!! This was the first ever physical zine i worked on as a merch artist (I had been in a couple of zines as page artist before) so it was SO cool getting to have my merch printed!! This was such a fun zine to be a part of, and what a fitting theme for The Great Ace Attorney!! Since I was a part of this zine instead of structuring this how I normally structure zine spreads, I wrote down all my thoughts about the zine from my perspective as a contributor than a buyer.
I made the Sanguine Ball print, an illustration that was inspired by the Van Helsing movie! All the art, merch, and writing is so gorgeous. The merch is especially really high quality, and I’m saying that as someone who reviews all the merch in my journals not as a contributor to this project hfdjs. (Although it was sooo nice getting such a quality print of my print!!!) The stickers especially are not only really durable but super restickable. I am so honored to have been a part of this project!!
Leftovers are only open for a few more hours so if you want this zine now is your chance!
All writing is all typed below.
Turnabout Ballroom. Zine theme: DGS Ballroom
Merch List
Acrylic Charm
Dancing Print
Mascot sticker sheet
Herlock Wallpaper
Sanguine Print
Nikolina Button
4 dancing die cut stickers
Digital Icon Set
Color Page
Thoughts:
I had so much fun being a part of this zine!! All the art and writing is so well done, I am honored to have been in this zine!! I made the Sanguine ball print!! My inspiration was from the Van Helsing movie when Anna was dancing with Dracula in the ballroom and was dipped in front of a mirror and realizes she’s the only human in the ball. I wanted to use that idea for a fake Herlock Sholmes invesitagation case where Herlock faced a “vampire” attack and Barok was blamed due to his suspicious nature. All the iconography surrounding the two of them dancing are evidence. I’m so happy with the piece and it’s so nice having it physically!! Zeta even gave me the idea to turn the piece into shadow box art — I might just!! Or even reuse this concept for my DGS ballet au! This was such a great theme for DGS!! This and the tea zine are just too perfect, if DGS gets another sequel i really hope one of the settings is at a Victorian ball. The graphic design of the whole zine is incredible, the columns throughout the zine fit so perfectly and are drawn so well. The cover art is so dynamic and a perfect fit — they all look like they’re getting read to go to the ball and when you open the zine — you see them at the ball in different scenarios. I adore everything made! The production quality of the merch is especially great! The stickers are all durable and restickable. I have never seen such a nice quality button. I also love the quality of my print. The texturing adds to it! It was also really cool being in a dgs zine with so many dgs artists I admire! I’m excited for the day a new AA game is announced so the DGS community can be revitalized again. The mods were great!! It was fun working with familiar faces from the DGs sprig zine. TYSM to everyone on the zine, especially the mods, for making this such a wonderful experience. Being accepted as a pinch hitter opened up so many more zine opportunities for me. This plus the Sheik zine led me to being a merch artist for the TLOZ horror zine and that led me to now having multiple mod positions. My zine and art growth has been so dramatic since the start of this zine and I am so proud of my journey. Thank you again everyone, it’s been incredible!

HAIIIII THERE!
So I saw your other blog about the zine that you're doing and I was wondering if you'll MAYBE do another one soon? Cuz I honestly wanna be a part of one😭
Do I know how a zine works?Well, not really! But I really wanna try something new and fun!
So yeah,if you do plan to make another zine in the future, that would be great 😊
(your art is very nice:) )
Hi!! I definitely WANT to run another one in the future! It’ll depend on a few things and if I do it won’t be for a while after this one releases (I wanna make sure everyone and me gets a break before starting again), maybe a few months to a year but we’ll see. You’re not the only one I’ve seen who didn’t/couldn’t join this one and wants to join another, so it’s possible there’s a Volume 2 down the line.
You can always follow the zine blog to stay in the loop, that’s where I’m posting all news about it and would definitely post about a future zine from there too.
So far I’m really enjoying the process with everyone🥰 It’s definitely a unique community project and I hope you can be a part of a future one!
(and thank you!<3)

*vibrating* I had too much fun at the surrealist costume party that I’m too excited to sleep so I started a project lol
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This is an adorable stationery box I got as part of a zine earlier this year!!! The print is so cute it was the only piece of merch I got bc I loved it so much
But!! as cute as it is, it’s still a mass-manufactured paper box and there are a number of places where I think it could be improved
Tumblr media Tumblr media
first, the square on the case (distance between tray and edge of case) is massive, like a whole 1/4 inch or something and I really dislike the size of it. It’s a little wonkily assembled, and the interior construction of the tray isn’t very elegant.
The ribbon is such a lovely idea, but it’s inconvenient and cumbersome to use. the box already has a magnetic closure, but it’s a little weak.
I don’t have a lot of thoughts so far besides: remove the tray, convert the ribbon closure to something else, maybe a bone clasp or a snap or honestly maybe just remove the ribbons and let it just be the magnets whatever the point is the ribbon has to go
Tumblr media
Luckily the adhesive in the outer corners pops off fairly easily with a little pressure, and the inner parts are also pretty easy to detach, though they require a bit more force
Tumblr media
Flattened with adhesive removed from the case! (I’ve folded the tabs back so they don’t accidentally stick to anything)
Now I have to think some more before I act so it’s bedtime, but here are the Thoughts so far
Tumblr media Tumblr media
1. Tray flaps are adhered underneath the print which is essentially one long paste down across the case. In raking light, you can kind of see that it extends in about maybe half an inch? I am thinking of how to remove the flaps while keeping the thank you message and zine name. you can also see where removing the adhesive has warped and bubbled the paper. this is fine I expected it and am planning on removing the paste down on those areas anyways and replacing them with new material. I’d like to remove the part of the flap under the paste down too tbh because it’ll be unnecessary bulk. To keep the message visible, there are a few possibilities: a) I’m lucky and the whole paste down is easily removed without damaging it and I can just reuse it as a paste down! Yay! b) I can’t remove it without ruining it, so I just cut around it and build a window into the bottom of the inner tray (kind of insane and jobby, but I’ll do it if I have no other options lol) c) I say fuck it and cover it with the inner tray
Tumblr media Tumblr media
2. How can I remove the ribbon and replace it with something that still complements the design? As it is, there are just slits cut in the board and the ribbon has been fed through and adhered under the paste down as well. The ribbon is quite wide, which isn’t my favorite. Thinking about creating a decorative bow which hides a snap closure.
ok those are the main Thoughts and now it’s past 3am and I’m getting pretty sleepy
good night! Absurdist costume party was great!!
djdjdjdjf I forgot to actually post this last night so anyways hi good morning

hi! this zine has really piqued my interest and im curious to see how it shapes out :D ive also been in a couple zines already, so if you want to, feel free to dm me and i could explain how they generally look from a contributor point of view. no pressure though!
thank you!! We’re excited to see what happens as well! That’s actually really helpful, thank you for the offer! (However, I suspect that this zine may end up being less formal than others, and by that I mean the creation process may end up being complete chaos because organization has never been my forte) we’ll definitely need lots of help, and having veteran zine-ers involved would be super helpful! This is actually a great place to say: even though mod applications haven’t gone out yet, and even though not everyone participating in the zine will mod, and not everyone supporting this blog will participate, you guys have a lot of power over how this zine is made. Everything I say about rules and plans and stuff are just my best guesses, so if I’m doing something wrong, or you think you have an idea for how to better do something, or just have a thought for something interesting we could try: send it. Even if you’re not modding yet or at all or participating, you are still part of this process and have a say in what happens. I’m just the guy who started the blog, this is a community project so if you wanna see something then tell us and we’ll try to make it happen!

Happy 5th Anniversary to FE3H
Like many people, Fire Emblem: Three Houses changed my life, and since today is the 5th year anniversary of the game’s release, I wanted to reflect on my experience with the game.
I got into FE3H in 2020. I was laid off for half the year due to the pandemic, so I had a lot of time to put into the game. It was my first Fire Emblem game and I immediately loved it for the plot, characters, and gameplay.
Somehow I ended up on the FE3H kink meme on Dreamwidth where I got back into reading and eventually writing fanfiction after a multiyear hiatus (back in my day we used Fanfiction.Net and LiveJournal for kink memes). I fulfilled some kink meme prompts and later joined AO3 and posted my fics there.
For various personal reasons, I only wrote one fic in 2021, which was a fic for the FE3H Femslash Exchange. It was my first time participating in an exchange and I really enjoyed it. Since then, I’ve participated in six more exchanges. I love writing for other people and seeing what I get in return!
I became more involved in the fandom in 2022 when I joined Twitter around the time Fire Emblem Warriors: Three Hopes was announced. I had no followers for several months since I joined without knowing anyone in the fandom. I eventually made many friends: people I’ve written fics for and who have written fics for me, artists I’ve commissioned, even people I’ve exchanged gifts with and met in person. I never imagined I’d form so many meaningful connections through a game and I’m grateful for all of them!
I got back into writing fics when Fire Emblem Warriors: Three Hopes was released. 2023 was the most productive year of my life in terms of writing. I published 29 fics to AO3 and wrote even more than that. In addition to more exchanges, I also participated in several fan events: Ferdibert White Day Flashbang, Hubert Rarepair Week, and Edelgard Rarepair Week. The latter I co-ran with two friends. It was my first time helping organize a fandom event and I was happy to see so many people participate!
I also wrote for a zine for the first time last year: the NSFW edition of Motivated by Love: A Hubert von Vestra zine. It was a great experience and I loved being part of a project with so many passionate and talented people.
In 2024, I published the first fic I had collaborated on with @cynical-gamer-media, another writer and friend of mine. I also wrote for Just Another Day: A FEW3H zine. I still have a lot planned, including more events and projects and fics I want to write.
Thank you FE3H for keeping me occupied during the pandemic, for helping me rediscover my love for writing, and enabling me to make new friends along the way.

Introducing Fred, Our Layout & Graphics Mod
Where can we find you?
Tumblr: @v4n1r
Ao3: Gremlin_of_Space
What first drew you to the Gallifrey audios?
Honestly, I was lovingly bullied by some friends during the pandemic. Last year of high school was at the start of the pandemic and really made me take a dive off the deep end. I was on a Doctor Who server and somebody recommended the audios to pass the time. So I started binging the audios as I did school work and painted Warhammer.
Now I’m here for the angst.
How did you become a mod for this project?
I was contacted by Skye to ask questions about how layouts work and stuff since xe knew I had done a magazine as part of my Visual Communication subject. I was immediately brought into the team as a mod and I’m really happy I was. It’s a great way to celebrate such a unique series and its beloved characters (not you, Darkel).
What is your favorite series of Gallifrey?
Okay, for real here, I haven’t gotten past season 4. The opening for s4 ep1 literally broke my brain and I’m too attached and scared to continue listening to them.
Out of the three series I’ve fully listened to, it’s gonna be either 2 or 3. The conspiracies were great and Narvin’s arc from “I couldn’t care if Romana and Leela died or lived” to “those are my friends/comrades” is too good. I’m a sucker for an enemies to friends/lovers arc.
What is your favorite episode of Gallifrey?
The one where Wynter died. I don’t know why it just really hit the nail on the head about how screwed they all are.
Tell us about your involvement in Gallifrey fandom (and any other creative projects you want to share).
I am a writer, primarily. I actually worked on Address to the Refugees with Skye, and I have several one shots, mainly ot4 shipping. I can’t help myself, there’s just too many good moments and, once again, love enemies to lovers.
Other than that, I mainly stalk the tumblr tag and occasionally reblog something. This would be the biggest Gallifrey thing I’ve done.
Outside of Gallifrey, I was a writer and moderator for the Doctor Who Hope Zine, a charity zine raising funds for a charity that provided free help to frontline healthcare workers affected by the pandemic. I created some sweet, little announcement banners and operated their marketing and tech based jobs.

Hi, I would like you to know I died a few times reading your Up the Ante, a few times (like 6 times? maybe 7?) as well. It’s possibly the hottest and one of the most believable canon compliant (of sort) BBS fic that gave me so much feels I wanted to cry. You are indeed an incredible writer.
Are you still into PatPran enough to write more fics about them even after all these years (I know you have one WIP going and I’m scared of WIPs but I think I will have to start on it soon)? I’m also wondering if you take commissions for fics? This is totally for personal need, I just can’t get off the rooftop and I’m feeling like I’m drowning and shriveling up at the same time if that’s even possible.
One way or the other, thank you for your writing, it’s beautiful.
hey there @pokomumee thanks for this. this is such a wonderful compliment and I am really glad you liked it.
I do have a WIP and I plan to focus and finish it this summer with a writing event. I'm like 2/3 done the Triple N Project. Other fandom ideas and the addition of a Wai/Korn subplot to the fic kind of tripped me up, but I plan to get back to it soon.
I am in many different fandoms and I do tend to get my attention grabbed by stuff that is new as I enjoy the challenge of writing new characters. But I am always going to love PatPran. My connection to them speaks to me on a deeply personal level.
Although I am immensely flattered that anyone would like my writing enough to want to commission me, I wouldn't do them because I am a firm believer in the fandom gift economy. That said, if you want to send me a prompt and it's a one shot type idea, I could see if I could take a stab at it as I'm trying to get back in the PatPran zone to finish this fic. Feel free to DM me and we could chat.
Also, BBS is fortunate enough to have a great fandom with lots of great writers so there is an annual Bad Buddy Exchange which unfortunately I could not write in this year due to life things but you can offer and ask prompts as part of that event and also there is a KinkMeme so if you have many many PatPran ideas you can post them there and see what might come of it.
Also, not a prompt idea but I feel like I should mention if you haven't seen it that there is a zine for BBS that is a fundraiser that has a lot of good stuff too. :)
Honestly, I do have other ideas for them but my life is a big ball of chaos and my fandom feels are equally turbulent so not sure when I will get to them, but I don't think I'm done writing for them by a long shot.
Happy PatPraning. They are definitely very special.

Hii! So every time I see your username on discord or here I always wanna ask you about it but then I don’t cause I’m socially awkward as heck and I don’t wanna seem like a weirdo - but here I am anyway - so, are you into horror movies??? I love finding horror movie fans in the wild cause I feel like none of my friends are into them 😭 who’s your fave final girl?? And what are your fave movies??
Oh my gosh. Thank you, thank you for asking this!!
If you don't mind, I'm gonna use this to go HARD lol.
I would dedicate far more of this tumblr to the genre if I could but I don't want to assault everyone's eyes with it, teehee.
Hello fellow horror fan! I'm so glad someone noticed!! Yes, I am a HUGE horror fanatic. It's like a major part of my identity!!! I love horror movies, video games, books, literally all things spooky. I've got posters all over my apartment, a stupid amount of trinkets, including a Pyramid Head plushie that's my pride and joy. :)
Horror is a fantastic genre brimming with creative ideas and it is such a healthy outlet for the anxieties of life. It is also uniquely relevant for the social scientist in me. Horror can provide great insights into how social problems become ingrained in the public consciousness, shedding light on the fears and concerns of different eras, especially in the last 100 or so years since the film industry was created. I took a monster-themed class on college last year, and am following it up with a film studies course this next semester. I write a lot about the monstorous feminine and gender studies in relation to the horror. Because, as horror reflects the concerns of the outside world, how women get treated within them is fascinating material to explore power dynamics, social expecations, and persistent fears. One of my favorites was a piece I did on feminist commentary in 2019's Ready or Not. My graduating project is going to be a zine-style work where I'm choosing 4 different horror films with 4 core aspects of the female experience and I'm so excited to start it!
To actually answer your question, my favorite horror films as of now go as:
Scream (1996) The Thing (1982) Alien (1979) Ready or Not (2019)
Special mentions go out to Carrie (1976), Halloween (1978), REC (2007), Ginger Snaps (2000), and recents such as X and Barbarian. :)
Extra special mention, my favorite horror video games are Resident Evil 7 and Silent Hill 2. (Very creative, I know, lol.)
As Scream is my favorite horror series, I'd have to say Sidney Prescott is my favorite final girl. She's just such a resilient badass and I love all of the Scream films and her journey so much!
Thank you again! I hope my excitement isn't overwhelming! Feel free to message to chat about it any time!
