Some Takahashi family (Kenshi, Suchin, and Takeda) headcanons because they are genuinely haunting me

Takeda actually has the worst resting bitch face out of the kombat kids (it's a combination of Kenshi's and Suchin's aka horrifying). He constantly raises his eyebrows (same thing Suchin did) to soften it. Sometimes he relaxes his face and freaks everyone out. Likes to do it for comedic effect.

Because of her paranoia Suchin never kept pictures of herself or people she cared about as to “not leave a trail”. Every time Takeda would come home with school photos they made a tradition of burning them (only photos, she kept his drawings and stuff 😭).

All three of them snore, badly.

Suchin and Kenshi both sent what they thought were obvious signals of attraction but they went over each others heads because their methods were so different.

When Kenshi started talking to Takeda after mkx he was shocked to hear how much Suchin toned down her personality, because the Suchin he knew was the definition of loud, crude, and energetic (calm when need be but not to the extent Takeda described).

Then Takeda mentioned the times she slipped up and Kenshi had that “there she is” moment.

Takeda, without realizing it, internalized a lot of Suchin’s traits. Granted he’s more polite than she ever was but all those paranoid habits Suchin taught him never really left.

Suchin’s favorite song is “Short Dick Man” by Gillette. She infected Kenshi’s music taste with hers.

People constantly compare Takeda to Kenshi but every time Kenshi is around him he sees no one but Suchin in him. The way he rambles, the jokes he makes, the way he’s constantly gaging possible dangers, the list goes on. Sento doesn’t allow him to make out the features of his face, but he knows he looks like her too.

Kenshi is really clingy. Never in public but behind closed doors he’s practically hanging off Suchin, cuddling her, holding her hand, hugging her, talking to her, or just straight up watching her in silence.

More on that- if Kenshi actually got to raise Takeda he’d be one of those parents that picked up their kid whenever they cried and Takeda (who is already clingy) weaponized the shit out of it at the ripe age of infant.

I also think that if Kenshi raised Takeda, Jax would be less apprehensive about letting him date Jacqui. But if Suchin was still in the mix he’d be more apprehensive because Hanzo at least had some restraint when raising him, Suchin would encourage him. (“If I were you I’d kill that guy, he deserves it.” “Suchin.” “Not now Kenshi- I’m spreading wisdom.”)

PART 8 ITS TIME TO FINALLY TALK ABOUT KENSHI LOSING HIS EYES !!!

Originally I was going to do my usual analysis style for this scene but I mean we’ve all seen it- I don’t think there’s a whole lot I can say that hasn’t been said already (I will almost definitely do it anyways later) so instead I want to take this time to draw comparisons between this scene and a scene of Jacqui and Takeda from MKX.

Takeda x Jacqui: When the Kombat kids are teamed up against Kotal, Erron Black, Ermac and Reptile, Takeda notices Reptile attempt to apprehend Jacqui and immediately warns her. Unfortunately this leads to Reptile spitting venom directly into his eyes, temporarily blinding him (like father like son). Jacqui then overpowers Reptile and is the one to wash the acid out of Takedas eyes, which is followed by a tender moment between the two- they’re surrounded by hell and yet they find the time to be alone and (canonically) fall in love.

Kenshi x Johnny: when attempting to free Mileena from Shang Tsung, Mileenas Tarkat takes over and causes Kenshi to call Johnny over for help (who’s eager to do so). The two play hot potato with her for a while until she eventually overpowers the two and stabs Kenshis eyes out. When Syzoth offers medicine later, Johnny is the one to apply it to Kenshi and relieve his “excruciating” pain. Again, though surrounded by hell, they find the time to be alone together (this is the second time now) and share an intimate moment (they’re literally locked in a cell with two other people and still Johnny made the application process so personal and ugghhhhh). This is a major turning point for their relationship so I’ll talk more about it later but just know I am excited to get into this!!!

Anyways I hadn’t seen anybody point this out yet! Maybe it’s bc they kinda abandoned the Takeda x Jacqui subplot so people just forgot about it but I really liked them !

Small update post for anyone that even slightly remembers that Im writing an MK fic that’s the third instalment of my Johnshi fics.

About four chapters are fully written and is sitting at around 16000 words roughly, with two more being written to wrap up the first act and then I’ll start with the second and third act. I’ll probably get those written fully by the end of the month and then start on the second, which I’m hoping to get atleast finished by November time considering how much longer it is and my lack of free time once classes start up again. From there I’ll start posting the chapters every second Sunday to give myself time to edit and to write the third act. I’m aiming to start posting the chapters around November time ATLEAST or even earlier.

Not gonna spoil much cause thats for later but all I’ll say is that Cassie and Takeda are the main focus and Shang Tsung is very, very important; and so is Bi-Han, but thats for later on. In the meantime have a snippet and a meme that like half relates to the plot vaguely.

People look at Bokuto and see a happy-go-lucky, carefree ray of sunshine and think, oh, he is a fool.

I mean I know people love him, but I am so, so upset that that is what he is reduced to.

Because Bokuto may be simple-minded, but a fool he is not.

(Let’s not even talk about the fact that Fukurodani seems to be a renowned private school and Japanese high schools have entrance exams. We know this, because Kageyama failed to get into Shiratorizawa, okay. He failed the exam.

So Bokuto getting into Fukurodani doesn’t exactly scream “idiot” to me. So he struggles with Japanese and Maths. Hell, if everyone was deemed stupid who didn’t excel in literally all of his classes, this would be a world of fools.

He also goes on to college and graduates. So he doesn’t know how taxes work. Hell, Sherlock Holmes didn’t know the earth revolves around the sun. People retain knowledge of stuff that they care about damnit. No one gives a shit about taxes.

I’m not calling him a genius here. He’s probably not exactly a top tier student. But please stop dumbing him down.)

But what I’m really talking about is that Bokuto is people-smart, okay. Like tell me he didn’t know exactly what made Akaashi tick. Tell me he didn’t know exactly what was wrong with him the second Akaashi started faltering.

He knew.

And he called him out on his bullshit in the exact same way Akaashi calls him out on his.

(It’s not just Akaashi btw. He knew exactly what was going through Yachi’s mind during the dumpster battle.)

And listen. During the training camp arc, Fukurodani vs Karasuno, where we first get to see Bokuto’s emo mode? It’s heavily implied by both Takeda and Ukai that Bokuto isn’t aware of how the team dynamics work, and as a reader, we believe this - because Bokuto appears to be so simple-minded. Because there don’t appear to be any hidden depths.

Because we never actually get to see the world through Bokuto’s eyes, but rather always Akaashi’s.

But being simple-minded doesn’t make you an idiot either. It just means that you have a different way of prioritising.

And then later, Bokuto has his moment. His “time for me to just be a regular ace” moment.

And we find out that he did know. He was completely aware that his team (and Akaashi, in all his well-intended manipulation) were coddling him.

(Don’t come for me; I ADORE Akaashi.)

Point is, he knows. And it was fine, because hey, it was easier anyway, and he knew he could count on his team to have his back.

But then Akaashi falters, and his team is struggling, and it’s Bokuto saying “you had my back all this time. Now let me have yours.”

Bokuto is not oblivious and he’s not a fool. His cheerfulness and optimism aren’t a sign of ignorance. They’re carefully cultivated. Because he knows what being lonely is like. He worked so, so hard towards his dream - not just to go pro, but to have fun playing volleyball. To become better at it so that he gets to enjoy it just a little bit more.

His good-heartedness is a goddamn choice, not some cradle-given virtue.

Mortal Kollege time!!!

Aka the mortal kombat college au that I’ve been cooking up for the past week

Johnshi and Railao are the main ships, obviously. I really only have very baseline shit for them though, like Johnny is a drama major and a party animal as well as the lead guitarist in the punk band ‘Meat Puddle’. Kung Lao is also very into partying, smth about “these are the best years of my life”, meanwhile Raiden is very focused on studies. I don’t have much for Kenshi yet. I’m thinking maybe his family wanted him to go to some prestigious university, but he ultimately decided not to for whatever reason (Takeda probably goes to the other one before transferring)

Raiden and Lao had been friends for some time, but only recently met Johnny and Kenshi. I think it would make for an interesting dynamic if Kenshi and Lao are dormmates, while Raiden has his own little apartment.

Anyway, that’s my infodump! I have some stuff on a few of the professors as well, which I will probably talk about later. If anyone has any fun ideas for this au, lmk!! I’d love to hear them and possibly make them canon lol
