it’s Nicky Hemmick.

He’s flirting with Jeremy bc ofc he is and Jer doesn’t realize that he’s joking. Turns him down politely and tells him that he’s flattered but he has someone else in mind right now.

And Jeremy’s not trying to be obvious but Nicky has spent a year with Andrew and Neil’s subtle-as-fuck flirting and he sees the way Jeremy just hovers around Jean the whole night, the way Jean gravitates to Jeremy when he feels uncomfortable and the victory on Jeremy’s face everytime jean smiles. It’s not hard to draw conclusions, not even for someone as outwardly oblivious as Nicky.

and because Nicky has never ever given a single fuck about subtlety he straight up corners Jean and asks “hey, you know that Jeremy has been trying to get in your pants the whole night right?” Jean cannot get over how crude that was and curses him out in French and English but Nicky knows a crush when he sees one so he just stares back triumphantly as Jean tells him to jump in the ocean with a thousand pound weight.

Is that why he holds onto the postcards and why he despises how Kevin only showed guilt not anger and didn’t sacrifice himself for Jean (and also why Jean hated how easy it was to fall into Kevin’s bystander role with Neil)

Like, the postcards and the necklace and the shirt from Jeremy are all gifts, but I feel like it represents acts of service more than anything.

Kevin taking the time to pick out postcards and magnets reminding him of Jean and writing him things. (And also why Jean taught him French)

Renee giving him a token of her faith (her reason for still being here) and of course being the one who saved him (he always hated himself for this, never her)

Reading the Sunshine Court is fun because reading AFTG with Neil’s pov you really didn’t see how genuinely weird the foxes are. Like we think Aaron’s the odd one out, but he’s like the most normal out of them but Neil doesn’t have a good perspective on what’s normal and not so reading TSC and Jeremy being like “love this team but oh my god the foxes are freaks! Why does Kevin talk like that! Why is Neil so scary!”

Unpopular opinion but i think Jean committing su!cide would have been a good ending.

LET ME EXPLAIN

i love Jean he’s an amazing and complex character but i think it would’ve made sense for him to die like that if Nora didn’t want to continue the series or just wanted one book because he’s already a little suicidal to begin with and he’s dealt with so much trauma and he thinks he deserves it all even thought he doesn’t. maybe he was tired of being in pain and tired of everything that the only relief he could get was dying especially after knowing that most of the other Ravens also commuted su!cide.

but i am glad that he lived and i can’t wait to read the second book. i also think that him living is sorta like him telling himself he deserves better and that he’s finally free (somewhat free) and it’s him making his own choices for once since the raven staff and Riko made most of his choices for the last five years of his life so although him killing himself would’ve been a good ending to the first book, him surviving is a little symbolic

what could’ve been more symbolic was what if after he got back from being out with Neil and he went straight to his room, locked the door and tried to kill himself like what if he had held a knife to his throat thinking he had nothing to live for and he was always going to feel trapped one way or another and was going to do it but then Jeremy, Cat and Laila went to the door and were asking him if he was ok or if he needed anything or just were just comforting him from away and he pulled the knife away and started crying because he’s never really had anyone be nice to him or treat him with human decency so Jeremy, Cat and Laila being his first real friends and comforting him, trying to help him and him knowing he’s finally some hat safe and away from the raven he pulls the knife down and can’t do it because he finally thinks he has something to live for

we chatted for a little bit after he helped me pick up my stuff because i’d dropped and he told me that he played exy at usc.

i ended up checking it, and promptly decided to support the worst team in class 1 exy. (sorry jeremy, you’re cute but i love an underdog)

this season has literally been insane, and i think that i might be a little bit in love with neil josten

(also, i’ve been stalking this page for a little bit, and from my understanding the dealer is the person the moves in between offense and defense to try and get the ball in their team’s possession. that’s why you can offensive and defensive dealers. i’d say it’s one of the more complicated positions on the court. they definitely deserve way more attention than they get most of the time. there’s a reason the entire game starts with them.)
