There was no bigger temple in Rome than the Colosseum. A monument to the Roman Empire, an architectural masterpiece as well as a slaughterhouse for humans and animals. They had to die for the amusement of the masses in the pale white sand and under the eyes of the Roman citizens as well as the Emperor's. You've never visited the arena before, it just wasn't the entertainment you usually seeked as you fancied the amphitheater and stage plays of comedies or tragedies. No one really died from a well-spoken dialogue and the stages weren't drown in blood afterwords. Your father was a similar soul with this. As someone who had seen war and death countless of times, Acacius developed a distaste for the useless killing, which he argued was the mere core of the collosseum's existence.
But while one would despise this form of humanity at its core brutality, other's simply loved it. First under Commodus the fights in the arena became more frequent, while Septimius Severus after him didn't change anything in that matter. Under Geta and Caracalla however Gladiator fights reached an all time high, especially those 'special' spectacles with exotic animals or ships. They themselves had an own Gladiator school under their wings, which was due to their wealth filled with the most skillful warriors and the best equipment, that it was almost unfair.
Given the fact that both twins enjoyed the performance in the arena and the bloody outcome, it wasn't surprising that they were frequent visitors. For the Emperor the colosseum had an own arena box with the best view over the inner pit and with two throne like chairs for each one of them to sit comfortably. It wasn't unusual for them to have guests here either and this time it was a special one. The moment Geta and Caracalla stepped out, the masses greeted and cheered for their Emperors, who - at least in Rome - offered them bread and games to forget the common sorrows of life. Both of them were dressed in the finest, colorful fabrics, while their golden laurel crowns throned on their heads. They waited for General Acacius at the balustrade to come forward, join them and speak to the people. He was still their celebrated hero, their triumph card, so to speak. It was an easy way to win the hearts of the people through a figure like Acacius, who was the ideal Roman.
After your father held a small, yet powerful speech about the braveness of the Gladiators they'll see today, a slave went forward to place a cushioned chair between the thrones of the Emperors. You hesitated a second, since usually you would be seated at the side of your father. "Since we've heard that you had never witnessed a fight in the arena befoe, we thought you might like a good view", Geta suddenly explained to you, before he sank into his own chair. "Please, sit down."
Your eyes went to your father for a quick exchange and you saw in them how he displeased this way of treatment, yet he nodded and you sat down. More and more you understood that the situation had a differnt tone in it. It wasn't mere courtesy why the Emperors treated you like that and given the way you'd read their eyes, it was more than clear that you've captured their interest. Usually any woman of the realm would fight for that privilege, but you had seen how your father acted in front of them, how worried he was when you first made your way to the palace - something was off. You knew you needed to pay attention and be cautious.
"Citizens of Rome, the arena welcomes you! Emperor Geta, Emperor Caracalla, we the people bow to your greatness and the mighty of our beloved Empire! Under the eyes of the sun the colosseum presents to you a spectacle like no other!", the high-toned, yet thunderous voice of the richly decorated announcer set the beginning of the show and drew all eyes on the white sand down in the arena pit, where a group of men in armor but with a limited equipment of weapons entered through a door from the Colosseum's catacombs. "First we present to you the brave Gladiators that will be our Theseus' today! They may not need to save their Ariadne, but they'll still have to face horde of Minotaurs today in an attempt to safe their own lives!" With those words a couple of other doors opened and six wild bulls entered the arena. Their massive and strong bodies stirred up the sands with every step of their big hooves. They may've been animals, but they had terrible weapons on their head with sharp horns that grew out of their heads.
Caracalla clapped with a joyful laugh. "Oh i love mythological pieces, even though they forgot the labyrinth!"
Your fingers nestled with the fabric of your dress in nervousness as you watched the men prepare themselves for the attack of the angry bulls, which were already pawing with their hooves. More than one set off to ran towards the Gladiators and given the fast but powerful movements of those animals, it didn't take long until the first fighter got overrun by them and another one faced the horns that drilled themselves like spikes into his torso, where blood spilled like a waterfall. The other fighters tried their best to ran or face the bulls with the few weapons they'd been given. One of them even striked down a beast by pressing his sword into its neck, when it was running towards him. You watched the spectacle with a neutral, yet pale face, while the Emperors seemingly enjoyed the show. Geta quickly noticed the way you followed the happenings down in the arena and leaned towards you.
"Are you not entertained, y/n ?", he asked you in a low voice, still loud enough to overcome the cheerings of the crowd. Your eyes went to him, facing the deep blue of his own, while you tried to put on a mask of apathy. "It is hard for me to understand, why useless killing is viewed as entertainment, I'm afraid," you answered, but it just got you an amused smirk in return.
"Oh it is not useless. You see, nothing is as entertaining as humanity itself. What lies more in our human nature than violence, power and the survival of the strongest? Without that, your father wouldn't be able to win all his great victories and our father would not have been able to secure the Roman Empire after the weak reign of the senate."
"And yet Emperor Marcus Aurelius believed that true strength isn't born in violence, but in mindfulness and kindness. The ability to speak, think and therefore to thrive for something higher than mere survival, is what distinguishes us from animals," you responded in a clear, settled tone. This sudden response surprised Geta clearly as his eyes widened and his fingers tensed up. Even Caracalla's eyes had left the arena for a moment and were locked at you. Even though he followed the fight down there, one of his ears had catched every word you'd said. What a sweet, naive woman you were... it made this whole moment even more interesting.
The corners of Geta's mouth twitched and at first you weren't able to tell if he found your words disrespectful or not. In fact, he'd not expected such a bold answer from a woman, especially not against an Emperor. And even though he wouldn't agree with you, it proved him right, that you were not a simple-minded girl. Naive maybe, but not dull.
"Interesting thought, my dear. But would you recite the words to one of these brave warriors down there too? Who will ll earn their freedom, if violence keeps them alive long enough? We offer them a precious gift, and in return they entertain us."
Your eyes went to the pit again, which was mottled in deep red blood now with only one man and one bull remaining. The moment was intense as both animal and human watched each other with intensity, before the bull stormed forward and the speer of the Gladiator, who waited for the perfect moment, hit his opponent. The massive body fell to the ground and the people cheered in Ecstasy. Geta and Caracalla clapped with admiration for the celebrated Gladiator, as he sunk to his knee and bowed to them.
The next round began after the exhausted and wounded 'hero' stumbled through one of the doors, back into the darkness of the catacombs, before he was replaced by a bigger group of Gladiators, who now had to face armed chariots. Their opponents wore the armory of old Sparta while they teared down one after one with their arrows. You leaned back in silence, watched by Caracalla, whose eyes were taking in her side profile for quite a while now. Even though he loved the fights down there, the blood, the violence... you encaptured him more right now. Your stern face, which carried a deep displeasure for this, while you tried so hard to hide it, it was captivating.
Everyone, even his own twin tend to underestimate Caracalla. Even though he was born a couple of minutes earlier than Geta and was therefore technically older than him, his stature was smaller and he wasn't as tall as his brother. This was accompanied by the fact that he enjoyed the pleasantries the god Bacchus had to offer him: wine, music, arts and sex - even more than Geta did. Together with his rather impulsive way of acting, it often led to the false thought that the more capable brother of them was Geta. Oh, Caracalla hated this, it was a misinterpretation weaved like a thread through his whole life. Because he had a gift, he could read people and together with his extensive web of information sources and spies within the city of Rome and beyond, he had a power that lied in the dark. And it was a preparation he did on purpose after he'd learned about the plot that was once set against Emperor Commodus. Some would've said it was paranoia, maybe it was, but he would call it 'preparation'. Nonetheless it came with the pleasant side effect of knowing a lot about the people around him.
"I've heard that you rather choose the theater over the arena", he said with a soft, yet unreadable smile on his lips. "You're a dreamer, aren't you?"
As you heard his voice next to you, your eyes quickly turned to him. "There is nothing wrong with dreaming, my Emperor...", you answered and he nodded quickly as if he'd hoped for that answer. Caracalla even grinned, his golden tooth gleaming in the light. "No, not at all." My Emperor. The way you've said it with your eyes looking at him. It electrified him, so much so that the cheers of the crowd almost faded in the background. You'd faced the pit and the fighters again, but he was still staring at you.
"Which play?"
"Octavia," the name almost shot from you mouth.
"And you consider yourself to be?"
"Octavia. And you?" You didn't even expected him to give you an answer on that, but meanwhile Caracalla's grin grew wider.
"Nero," he said just as fast as you'd answered before.
Your eyes instantly went back to the Emperor, whose eyes were now focused on the deadly fight between a Gladiator and a chariot rider. He couldn't hold back a chuckle, while he watched how the man pushed his sword through the neck of his opponent, ripping off his head.
Nero.
"Why?", you suddenly asked, this time it were your eyes, that watched him.
"I cannot blame him for setting himself free." His answer was almost like a whisper, yet you heard every word. It was a very unconventional way of interpreting the mad Emperor, one she herself would even despise, if he wouldn't seem to be so certain of it. It meant something more.
The arena fight slowly came to an end, when only to oppontents were fighting for the right to claim the victory. Nearly all of the Gladiators and chariot riders were dead, their bodys laying in the pale sand and drowining it with their blood, a weird composition of death that accompanied your questions about Caracalla's answer.
After a final hit, one of the men went down on his knees. He was wounded, severely, and he now felt the tip of a sword against his neck. He surrendered and the gods had to decide what will happen with him. One of the Gods was Geta, who stood up from his chair and approached the balustrade, while the crowd called for a decision. The Gods need to decide, yet Geta suddenly turned his head to you. "What do we say,...? y/n, should he live or die?"
Your face grew even paler than it already was, your fingers were almost digging themselves into the armrests of your chair. You felt a thousand eyes on you, even though it was only Geta and Caracalla watching you, as well as the eyes of your father from behind. The Gladiator waited, while his opponent's arm was cut off and his head was bowed down as if he awaited death. And the crowd screamed and screamend. Death, Death, Death, Death, Death.
It rang in your ears, you didn't want to make this decision. But the moment you faced the Emperor, just as you opened your mouth, Geta simply bowed his thumb down - Death.
And the sword went down. Death.
The head dropped in the sand followed by the body, the cheers errupted in the arena, screaming the name of the victorious Gladiator. But you just stared into the nothingness that was in front of you, while you bit your tongue to the point of pain. "Don't pain yourself about this, my dear. There was only one answer anyways," Geta said while he suddenly reached out for your hand and kissed your knuckles, before he took his glass of wine. You didn't move, you couldn't.
Caracalla stared at this scenery and his fingers were shaking as his eyes darkened. The intense urge came up his mind: To simply take his brother and throw him from this box into the pit, his neck breaking from the impact. Those thoughts sometimes came and went, but they got more intense every time he saw Geta interacting with you. And this interaction hit a new high point in him that was only interruped by your form the moment you stood up.
"My Emperors, it was a pleasure to join you, but i need to leave now...", you said in a tone that tried so hard to be polite and not carry any emotion, before you turned your back and quickly stepped out of the imperial arena box, followed by your father General Acacius, who bowed and excused himself in an equally neutral tone.
Both Geta and Caracalla watched them leaving, before the taller one of the twins took a deep sip of his wine. "She'll learn to love it sooner or later."

The Poison Fruit Ripens
#defendingtheending here we go
First of all mega super ultra spoilers for the ending teaser that Steam says like
6% ? Of players have seen? So you’ve been warned. No cuts baby, it’s Miyazaki style
Okay, so it’s the Executors, and they’re probably coming across the sea in the next game (if EA doesn’t nuke BW), from what I can gather. I mean, this is fine from a lore perspective. All we knew about those people before is that 1) they are mysterious 2) they are from over there, across the ocean
And now they’re maybe connected to the revealed Qunari lore, which I am ! So excited to have! We already knew that the Qunari fled across the ocean for unspecified reasons, and that going back there was Not A Thing. But now we know that they left because of the (probably metaphorical?) Devouring Storm, which could be connected to the Executors. What are the odds that there are two separate Huge Bad Things Over There that both want to destroy Thedas? Probably is just one big thing— also the title Executor implies they are doing the bidding of someone else, so whatever the Qunari were talking about could be it. (They also talked about being agents of someone else’s will in the Inquisition War Table quest).
So the cinematic shows a bunch of our prominent villains from the previous games being influenced in some way by the Executors. Which I think people are upset about, but I think it’s fine because:
- They did not really specify the manner of influence. I would be annoyed if they retconned Loghain’s decision to leave Cailan on the battlefield because it makes him interesting, but they didn’t say that. They just said they influenced his decisions. They could have done that by stoking his paranoia about Orlais, or by planting Arl Howe to influence him after the battle. He did a lot of OOC stuff while he was King Regent, and this could be a chance to explain what didn’t make sense for his previously established character and was just put in there to make him seem Very Evil.
- They also were around some people doing a blood magic ritual
there weren’t enough of them to be the Magisters, technically, but that is usually what it looks like when we see them in DA art so I’m going to assume that’s them for now. I mean that’s wild if that’s what it is bc that was such a long time ago? Thee guys have really been playing the long game I guess
- The other person they directly influenced seems to be Bartrand, which is really easy because who the fuck gave him that damn map? We NEVER found out who pointed Bartrand to the Thaig! Someone did it, and they probably did it on purpose! It may as well be these guys
- the rest of the villains don’t get guys whispering to them, so I have to assume they mean to imply that they just set up the circumstances that would lead to these people gaining power. I mean someone sent the Carta to the Vimmark mountains, right? And there was like some weird demon there, too.
-So basically they’re just implying that these people have been manipulating events to make sure that shit in Thedas is hitting the fan all at once, which does kind of explain the frankly improbable number of world-ending events that have happened during the Dragon Age. I mean, three Blights, two Magisters, two Evanuris, Antaam invasion, major mage rebellion, Templar schism, and the death of the Southern Divine? It’s only been like 50 years!!! Before the Dragon Age there had only been four Blights since the Ancient Age! Shit does not normally happen this fast in Thedas
I think the phrase itself is pretty direct (also giving Southern Reach vibes). All this chaos they helped sew is reaching its culmination, and now they’re getting ready to cash in the chips. They’re coming to Thedas at the moment that all the great powers are at their weakest, when there’s basically no one to oppose them. Tevinter? Fucked. Qunari? No military anymore. Antiva? Haha! lol, even. Fereldan? Basically gone. Orlais? In shambles. Free Marches? Decimated. Anderfels? There’s like 100 Wardens left in a swamp. Nevarra? I actually don’t know, maybe the lichlords can do something. Maybe Rivain could field some token resistance if they didn’t get hit by the Antaam too badly, but that’s kind of it IMO. This is THE time to come in and conquer(?) the land, or whatever they’re trying to do. Kill everybody?? Turn them into Darkspawn? Who knows!
Some speculation about what could be done to repel invasion:
- shit ton of blood magic
- fix titans, wake them up??? But idk if they’d be into it
- adaari, but idk if there are that many
- people with dragon blood, like the Theirins, are maybe super special and can do things?
- pirates, baby!!! Woooooo!
- I guess Mythal could know something? She can see the future a bit
- dragon army! Dragon army!!

Hi!
A bit of a random question, recently started watching your channel. Do you regularly play league? Im just curious about others' experiences - I was really scared about picking it up despite loving online games like this because circa 2014-15 I used to hear about the community being toxic all the time, but after around 3 months of playing wild rift and like? Two of pc league I've yet to encounter extremely toxic players. Am I lucky, or has the toxicity improved since?
I played League regularly from Season 2 to Season... 7 or 8, I think? And then I flamed out. I literally started having anxiety episodes before hopping into queue because the community vibe was so fucking foul, and ADHD rejection sensitivity can only dissociate from so much.
I keep meaning to start playing a bit again, just with people from my discord, but I keep not really feeling like I have the time.
So I can't speak to whether toxicity is better, I haven't touched the regular gameplay experience in ages. I hope it is, though, it would make me feel a little bit better about my videos occasionally making people get into the game.

fuck it, sex scene analysis:
since cait and vi don't actually have that many scenes this act, why did they choose to show us this? cause like always, there's more than just horny lesbians (finally!) getting to break all that tension.
so we joke about top\bottom bullshit all the time, but in this scene it actually matters to both characters. first of all, i think it's pretty clear vi "tops" here. if u don't see it, let me spell it out for you.
when vi first kisses cait, there's a short period where their kiss looks unsynchronized.
Tumblr media
cait is clearly just taken by surprise, right? well, i don't think so. she came in that cell with a VERY flirty tone. she was making moves, ready to play her game. what u see in the very few first seconds is caitlyn trying to set the pace and getting completely DENIED. vi doesnt let her, so she submits to vi's tempo.
Tumblr media
in here, cait's chasing vi's lips, but vi already decided it's neck kisses time. again, vi sets the tempo, caitlyn follows.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Tumblr media
^oh u wanted some soft touches? tough luck, cupcake, we're doing this now.
this pattern repeats during the entire sex scene, and the message is clear: cait's not in control, vi is. why does that matter? it's important for their arcs. for starters: cait's a topsider, vi is from the undercity. this is just a very clear "subversion" of what you'd expect from that power dynamic.
second, think of how these 2 girls' arcs played the entire season. caitlyn has been in control since act 1- in their relationship, since vi's guilt led her to pretty much agree to anything caitlyn asks, but also socially. she inherited her mom's position as the head of house kiramman. she was promoted to a commander position of a strike squad and then to basically the main ruler of piltover under marshall law. when caitlyn is in a bad space mentally, the first thing she does is try to regain control. most of the time, her bad mental state was caused because she lacked control ("none of this is on our terms!"). she has so much control of so many things in her life, but does she want it? in most cases, it's almost like she was forced\stumbled into it.
and vi, poor vi, has only known lack of control since she was a child. no matter how hard she tries, things always slip out of her hands, and she's the one to suffer for it. she spent her entire life trying to make other people's lives better, at the expense of her own. she was fucked by the circumstances of her life, that she had no control over, so many times. and her sister just locked her in a cage and told her to stop chasing her. vi would usually run after her sister, yet again trying to amend her, but for once in her life, she makes an active decision and chooses caitlyn. putting her wants and needs first. and it is very important that this decision feels DELIBERATE on vi's part, and not just a compromise.
so vi gets control, and caitlyn lets go of it. it's what they both needed.

Had a feeling I might find you here. I really believed she'd help. Say it. You told me so. I was an idiot to trust her. I went behind your back. I choose wrong every time. And because of it, I've lost everyone.

Thinking about the contrast between Thetis and Mary mother of Jesus ok I am NOT crazy just hear me out
I'm thinking about how Mary just got married with a man she loved so deeply and was chosen by her God to give birth to his child, still a virgin. She felt honored. Her womb, a blank canvas that would paint an amazing story. Her son the embodiment of God, characterized by his gentleness and compassion, how he spent the years of his life spreading the word of God, messages about loving one's neighbor and peace. His child, whom she saw die humiliatingly and cruelly in the hands of a people who feared his message of love and peace. Who she saw coming back to her even after death.
And then we have Thetis. Thetis, daughter of Nereus, maybe the fairest one of them all. Zeus and Poseidon wanted her, and did she feel honored by this? Did she boast of being the envy of her sisters and cousins? Being desired by Olympians is no small thing. Let's say she did. Let's say she was excited to be chosen by the King Among The Gods and The King Of The Seas to dispute among each other for her hand. But then the prophecy, "greater than his father", came, and she was no longer desired. She was feared. Her womb was feared. They all knew what happens to those Gods who are greater than their fathers; Zeus still reeks of Cronos remains. So she was arranged a marriage to this man she knew nothing of nor cared about. In fact, in the standard myth, Peleus rapes her. He was told how exactly to do it. This mortal, who she hated—she couldn't stand mortal blood—, forced his child into her. They get married and her pregnancy begins. In some versions, Thetis has 6 children before Achilles who she kills because she couldn't stand the idea of having a mortal child. It's not fair. What did she do? Why was she being punished for something that was not up to her to decide? She has her son, and calls him áŒ„Ï‡ÎżÏ‚, suffering, because isn't that all that thing has caused her? Isn't all her suffering because of this dammed thing that grew inside of her? It should be easy to hate him. In fact, she should hate him.
Yet she doesn't. She loves him. She loves her little suffering. And she loves him so much she finds it all unfair. Unfair he will die and she will live carrying all this sorrow inside of her. She wished there was a way to grant him with godhood, but there is none. He is no God. And that is cruelty, that isn't fair.
Even if she tries to protect him, her suffering is sent to war afar from her. And he's full of hate. And isn't all that hers? He was born out her hatred, out of her rage. That's what he was born to feel, that's what he was made of. No matter how much her or the people around him try to do, his destiny if full of hatred, and violence, and blood, and all things bad. He's named the Best Of The Greeks because of how many Trojans have died by his sword. He steals, and kills, and kidnaps. He's not just her suffering alone, now, he's the people's suffering, ΑχÎčλλΔύς. He dies and he doesn't come back, because he's mortal, she can't make him a God. And she will live forever with her sorrow.
Jesus was Mary's blessing. Achilles was Thetis' punishment. And yet they both loved their children like only a mother can.
Also to add to that contrast, Mary is dressed really modestly ofc because she's a virgin and God's mother and she has to have a lot of cloth to cover her. Thetis is illustrated showing a lot of skin most of the time. The cultural differences play game into that fact of course but this comparison is not even like implying that they're equivalent to either religion so wooooo woooooooo
Anyway it's 2 AM why am I yapping this much

For Worse
dark!Ghost x fem!reader pt. 2 of “For Better”
Warnings: manipulation, brief mentioned of blood/gore, toxic behavior, threats
The overhead lights buzzed as the electricity continued to flow through them as Simon sat in his chair. He doesn’t know how long ago Price left his tiny on base office but it didn’t matter. In his hands were the rings that should still be on your finger. It shouldn’t have moved from when he slid them on all those years ago but yet here they are. Here they both are, without you. Now, was Simon a good husband? Not at the moment, no.
But he was an even worse individual. The things he had endured and the things he’s done upon others would not qualify him as a ‘good man’. Doesn’t matter if it was on behalf of his country or the safety of the world. It was two sides of the same coin in a constant rotation but Simon knew that that’s not what weighed his conscience. It was the fact that he had none.
The one thing he had to keep him sane was trying to leave. The one thing that tethered him to this world and he’d be damned if he was going to let that slip away from him. A familiar shift faded over Simon as his eyes became dark and his breaths became shallow. Simon was gone and in his place, his shadow filled the void. His Ghost. He placed the rings in his breast pocket, velco securing it tightly to his chest at all times, as he sprung up from his desk chair and made a beeline towards the rec room where he knew his sergeants would be with tight and tense shoulders and his head straight forward. Target acquired.
Almost slamming the doors open, Ghost filled the nearly empty room with his presence alone as he made his way to a lone table where Kyle and Johnny were currently playing cards. There was the sound of scraping chairs against the shitty linoleum as the few other people in the room quickly left when they noticed who had just walked in looking like he was on a mission. And he was, but he wasn’t about to do this without his team.
Both men were well into their game when the overheard light was suddenly obstructed by a thick silhouette of a man. Johnny looked up just in time recognizing said silhouette, “Lt! Whit are ye doin blockin the licht? I-” his voice immediately dying in his throat when he realized the look on his lieutenants’ face. Kyle noticed immediately the change in the Scots demeanor and looked up as well. “What happened?”, he asked as he immediately clocked the aura radiating off of his superior.
“Need you to be in the briefing room in 10. No questions till then.”
Both men nodded in agreement before Ghost walked away.
Ghost stood in front of the long wooden table as Gaz and Soap filed in. Price was already seated with his arms crossed over his chest as he looked at the rest of his team with a slightly annoyed but determined look on his face. They all shared a collective nod in greeting before setting their eyes on the man in front.
“We’ve got a job to do and a tight window. No distractions. This is your priority now. Understood?” He waited but was met with silence.
“Good.”
—-----
Simon was ecstatic. You had said no to continuing the proceedings. You were still his. You would still be his. And you wouldn’t be doing this again.
After carrying you out of the courtroom, he set you down and connected his forehead with yours. “I have to take care of something really quickly while I’m here but I’ll be out shortly. Why don’t you wait in the car and then we’ll go down to that asian place around the corner that I know you like as a celebration hm? My treat.”
You smile up at him and peck the corner of his mouth before walking out to his car. You had taken an Uber since Simon mainly uses the car to get to and from base when he’s home, which he now was and planned to be for a while.
Simon watched you leave before his mask slipped back in place. Turning back into the courtroom, he walked around the bench to the door where it led to the judge’s chambers.
The judge looked nervous as he sat in his leather chair behind his desk. A faint glow in the dark corner of the room grew brighter before dimming again. A puff of smoke came out of the shadows before being followed by his Captain.
“Good to see that you kept your end of the bargain. Was worried there for a second there but you managed. Hate to see what would’ve happened if it hadn’t.” The familiar gruff voice sounded from behind his chair. The lawyer that you had used was currently unbuttoning the cuffs of his sleeves before rolling them up his forearms at a small table next to the door.
“That would’ve been really disappointing too. After I had worked so hard to
convince you as well.” His smooth voice rang out.
The judge looked between them and stuttered,” But I did what you asked! Why-why does it feel like I missed something?” The judges’ nervous eyes landed on the bailiff that was shifting his weight from side to side as he watched what was currently unfolding. “Bailiff! Please! Do something!”
The bailiff cracked his neck to the side before removing his hat. His bright blue eyes never leaving the panicked shit brown ones of the sweating man in front of him.
“Ah kin dae something a'richt. Bit ah dinnae think ye'll be tae chuffed by th' outcome.” His hand ran through the currently flattened fauxhawk. “ 'n' how come ah hae tae be th' bailiff?! Gaz a’ready wears a cap!”
Price chuckled a bit, “Well she knows my face and I don’t think ya see too many lawyers ‘round here with a haircut like that, do ya?”
Johnny grumbled a bit before refocusing on the man of the hour. “Och sorry, did ye think ah wis gonnae actually help?” He laughed and the rest of his teammates joined.
Ghost walked forward as Gaz made sure the door was locked behind him. “I don’t think anyone will be coming back any time soon but to answer your question, there is something that you missed.” There was suddenly a heavy pressure on the judge’s shoulders as Price held him in place in his chair. Gaz and Soap came up on either side of Ghost as he leaned over the desk.
“SAS doesn’t leave any loose ends behind.”
Simon walked out with his team behind him while he wiped his hands. Setting up everything in such an exact way just to watch it all fall into place was truly beautiful. Getting into your laptop wasn’t hard to make sure that you had picked Gaz as your lawyer. All he had to do was sneak in when he knew you’d be out was simple enough. Making sure that Soap had the correct badges to pass inspection with his stolen uniform. Price just had to make sure that the judge they’d found fell in line. Considering that this hearing was never actually recorded and that he wasn’t even a practicing judge anymore helped their case as well. The remains of the judge stayed mostly in the room behind them. Some technically were on his hands but a quick run to the washroom would fix that. But they’d be long gone before anyone found him. Ghost almost wishes he could do it all over again but he had a pretty bird waiting for him outside. With a nod behind him, he made his way outside.
—---------
Months had gone by after your almost divorce and you believe that it actually knocked some sense into your husband. He was now always home when he wasn’t deployed. Even when he was, he made sure to call you to hear your voice and check in on you. When he was home, his hands were almost always on you. And maybe that’s why looking at the small plastic stick in your hands wasn’t as big of a shock. But what would your husband think?
Don’t worry, he has already told his mates and has his pick of names ready when you exit the bathroom. Those sugar pills you’ve been taking were already in the bin.

Arcane Season 2 Finale theory. (Jinx, Cait and Vi)
Tumblr media
Heya. Since I was somehow on a roll with my theories about the show previously, and I somehow hit the nail on 90% of the things I predicted, here is a new theory of mine.
Jinx is not dead. Yes, of course, that makes sense considering League of Legends exists, and everything that happened in Arcane happened before the game. Arcane was made canon, and a lot of current lore is being rewritten to match the show, so to people that play the game it's no surprise that Jinx is most likely alive. But how?
Here is what I think:
After Jinx said 'I didn't know your mom was in there', Cait realized that Jinx did in fact change. Or, at the very least, could relate to her pain and mistakes. If you think about it, Jinx's actions were mostly fueled with grief, and the rocket that was shot at the council building happened right after Silco died, who was like a father to Jinx. Caitlyn lost her mother, and became angrier, irrational, fueled with revenge. I think Jinx saying that to Caitlyn made her relate, and maybe understand what is hidden below all the madness that Jinx has in her.
I think Caitlyn and Jinx had a dialogue behind the scenes, that was not shown to us. Knowing Caitlyn's character and somewhat a soft heart, I think Caitlyn sat down and told Jinx that she can't be truely free due to the volume of the crimes that she has done. My idea is that Caitlyn tossed the idea to Jinx about escaping, fleeing, and faking her death. Didn't Caitlyn tell Vi that she became too predictable? Doesn't it mean that Caitlyn knew that Vi will try to free Jinx? Didn't Caitlyn say something about this place being thoroughly guarded too? Yet Jinx managed to escape anyhow?
I genuinely don't think it was done without Caitlyn's interference.
Maybe, after the talk that Caitlyn had with Jinx behind the scenes, Jinx asked Caitlyn to keep Vi oblivious to everything that is happening. Hence why Jinx said that Vi deserves to be with Caitlyn - that could not have gone out of nowhere. Caitlyn and Jinx didn't interact enough in the show for Jinx to say that. And Vi never really spoke to Jinx about Caitlyn for her to make this conclusion.
Now, possibly, Jinx took the whole 'fake the death' quite literal, since we see her go quite suicidal after that. It is possible that she thought that it is pointless, and genuinely didn't want to try and run anymore, hence why she attempted to blow herself up. Luckily, Ekko came in, and the rest we know.
However, it doesn't sit right with me. Not just because Jinx is very much alive in game, but also the fact that we were shown Caitlyn looking at the tower where Jinx fell, while holding the Jinx's monkey bomb in her hand. She also let go of a slight smile when she zoomed in on all the exits and rooms in the tower. Something tells me Jinx knew how to escape, and something tells me Caitlyn was the one who told her. Something also tells me that the balloon we saw at the very last scene of the whole show might have had Jinx in it.
Tumblr media
The show is notorious for showing scenes that always mean and imply something. I previously had a theory where I drew a parallel between Vander, Silco and Felicia, with Caitlyn, Vi and Jinx, where Felicia was bringing Vander and Silco closer to each other, and her death ended up splitting them both. I truly think Caitlyn was meant to be the same mediator for Jinx and Vi as Felicia was for Vander and Silco. And maybe that was it. Maybe that's what happened.
Knowing Caitlyn, she is more than capable of forgiveness, and seeing good in people. I think it would be in her character to help Jinx escape, even if it is at a cost of lying to someone she loves.
And, since we see Jinx tell Vi to let go, I think it would be in her character to ask Caitlyn to keep Vi in the shadows.

Useful tips for new Veilguard players
Under a cut for people who want to go in 100% blind (and because there are some very mild spoilers).
Return to the Lighthouse regularly to check on your companions. There will be a symbol on the map next to their picture if there's an interaction available.
If two characters are in the same room but there is no symbol on the map, going to meet them will trigger a banter (the same type you'd get while travelling).
Companion arcs are divided into three types of interactions: conversations, outings, quests. While quests probably don't have a time limit (emphasis on probably), the others might disappear as you progress further into the main story.
(spoiler) At some point during the flirting stage of your relationship with a companion, you're given the chance to express romantic interest towards them without committing to the relationship. Your next interaction with that character is very likely going to be when you'll get the option to actually commit.
I strongly suggest doing every side quest before starting the following main quests: A Warden's Best Friend, The Siege of Weisshaupt (can confirm you'll fail some quests if you don't do them first), Blood of Arlathan (haven't tested it myself, but it seems to be that kind of quest).
Exception being the Crossroads' quests, which can be done whenever (most of them require you to be at a higher level anyway).
The final act starts with a warning. Be sure you've done all the quests you wanted to do (Crossroads included) before you go any further.
There are some unmarked quests in the game that grant unique rewards. Some of them won't trigger until later in the story, so don't hesitate to return to areas you've already visited before.
Companion level-ups are tied to their approval. You can raise their approval by doing their personal quests or by completing quests with them in your party. Some of them will also approve of killing specific types of enemies (for example, Davrin with darkspawn). You can also buy a gift from each of their respective faction's vendors.
Merchants may sell valuables that can increase your stats, so don't overlook that tab! Hovering over the items tells you which ones will give you a boost (mostly drinks).
You can sell your valuables to faction vendors in order to raise said faction's strength.
Items may have a different value depending on which faction you're selling them to. For example, Blight-related items will be worth more points if you sell them to the Grey Wardens.
(spoiler) You will lose access to a faction midway through Act 1, but you can still raise their strength by selling your valuables to a vendor in the Crossroads (marked on the map).
Selling your items isn't necessary to get a faction to 3 stars. In most cases (not always, some may depend on choices you've made), doing all their quests (including companion quests) is enough.
You don't need to max out a faction's strength to get them to 3 stars. However, maxing out unlocks the faction's final vendor rank, which then gives you access to unique items.
Having all factions to 3 stars isn't required to get the best ending. (One of my factions was still at 2 stars when I played the final act during my first playthrough, and I saw no difference. Though I would still recommend raising most factions' approval as much as possible.)
Completing companion quests and making the right choices during the final act is important, however.
If you want to unlock all possible endings, you'll need to complete quests in the Crossroads.

Veilguard Foreshadowing (part 1)
After playing Veilguard twice, I've been replaying the other games to look for references/foreshadowing. I finished Origins and think I found a few things. Spoilers for Veilguard (and Origins. And Dragon Age in general)
First up, Gaxkang.
Tumblr media
I always assumed the "eyes" meant Flemeth. She does save you at the beginning and since she's a fragment of Mythal, that seemed to qualify as "a very high vantage." Now, however, I think he's talking about the Executors. We see in the Veilguard post-credits scene that they helped push Loghain into his betrayal, so it makes sense that they would be watching the Warden with interest.
Next, the statue from Witch Hunt.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I know that a lot of people, myself included, believed this was about Corypheus but now it seems to make a lot more sense if it's about the elven gods' prison. First, the use of "breached" naturally bring to mind the Breach from Inquisition, which is a giant tear in the Veil. The Veil which was created by Solas to imprison the gods. When Corypheus rips open the Veil, he is, quite literally, breaching the gods' prison. While "the encroaching darkness" and "the shadows will consume all" sort of worked for Corypheus, it makes way more sense if it's about the Blight. The Blight is always described using similar terms. In Veilguard they talk about how the gods only have access to a trickle of Blight but if their plan succeeds they'll have a flood. That sure seems like "the shadows will consume all."
Am I reading too much into things? Maybe, but my brain is 90% Dragon Age lore and I have to do something with it all. I'm sure there's more I missed (I did not read every codex entry in Origins. Who has the time?). For now, onward to Dragon Age 2 where I definitely won't be apologizing profusely and crying every time Varric is on-screen. I leave you with Morrigan and the understatement of the age.

Found this via my friend @lostlinkmx
General Questions:
1.
My Drifter and Operator have similar lives up to a point.
   - Operator: My Operator Anneliese was a book nerd and super inquisitive when it comes to technology. Her father especially loved designing machinery of all kinds. The events of the void jump turned her from a well-kept tech nerd into an anxiety riddled child with a fear of nearly anything biological. (Due to her being based on my operator from my first warframe account from the original PS4 launch of the game I gave her a fun trait which is essentially transference fusion. She takes on the cold touch of her Frost warframe and has enough physical strength to wield her Jat Kittag hammer with her own two hands.)  ALSO her condition just worsened more and more after the events of Apostasy Prologue. (The last quest I played before taking a 5 year break from the game).
   - Drifter: My Drifter Launey had the same story up until the jump, when left alone aboard the Zariman she dived into her father's tinkering habits. Adopting her father's nickname "Tweake" Launey sated her boredom by ripping bits from the various parts of the Zariman and building new creations.
(For context both my Operator and Drifter acknowledge they are technically the same person but prefer to treat each other as siblings as a form of coping mechanism).
2.
-Anneliese (Operator): Sniper Rifles and Hammers. She especially loves Corpus weaponry, even actively stealing Launey's Tenet weaponry from her collection. (Based on my love of the Lanka sniper rifle and other Corpus gun designs. 2 different accounts and I have a 6 forma Lanka on both.) She most often uses her two main warframes Frost and Limbo.
-Launey (Drifter): Shotguns (Especially heavy hitting slow ones like the Corinth and Hek), Pistols and Glaives. Especially her trademark combo of either a Tenet Plinx or pair of Tenet Diplos alongside her Xoris. She most often uses her two warframes Yareli and Lavos.
3.
   - Anneliese: Purple, Lavender, and Sky Blue.
   - Launey: Various Dark Reds, Mint Green, and Purple.
4.
   - Anneliese: Yes. She has two Helios sentinels (1 regular, 1 prime) and a Moa named Pachi. (I usually name my MOAs and Hounds "Karakuri Mdl-Number 'Name' ").
   - Launey: Yes. 1 Corpus hound named Zizi and 2 Kubrows (1 Sahasa named Gianduja, and the other a Chesa named Fetch. Fetch belonged to her deceased father and the genetic template for her was stored in an old databank in their home on the Zariman.)
Despite Anneliese's fear of most organics when meeting the Drifter for the first time and discovering she had her father's kubrow, Anneliese was shocked but quickly welcomed Fetch when it acted as if it saw an old friend. (Think those videos of dogs when they see their owners come back from the military).
5.
   - Anneliese: She likes Coffee (Or whatever the equivalent would be in the Warframe universe), Corpus technology, and her privacy. Also has a weird obsession with the many sea labs of Tyl Regor, often saying she likes the underwater caves especially.
Dislikes most biological beings (Warms up to people thanks to Launey), intense heat, and overly loud noises.
   - Launey: Likes Coffee* and Corpus tech just like Anneliese but she also adores Infested Biotech (Based on how my main loadout from my 2nd warframe account is a Sporothrix, Dual Toxocyst, and Lesion). Loves messing with her "younger sister" and tinkering. Much like her sister's love of the sea labs, Launey loves the labs and vaults of Deimos.
6.
   - Anneliese: Anxiety riddled mess. (Poor posture, shaky hands, stuttering, the works.) Not as anxious around Launey, in fact getting angry when dealing with her endless messes. Extremely cautious towards and sometimes aggressive to strangers. In short "She is so on edge that she is one good push away from flattening someone with her Jat Kittag." Has lost her inclination to finish her many ideas and chattiness after the loss of her parents during the Zariman incident.
   - Launey: Way too casual. Rambles about every little thing, often jumping between topics mid-sentence. Often pranks or jokes with Anneliese to hopefully cheer her up. Finishes the many incomplete projects of her sister (Sees it as a good time killer).
BOTH OF THEM pace *constantly* while speaking. You need to actively tell them they are doing it or they wont stop.
7. Both my Drifter and Operator as OCs are direct results from my friend @lostlinkmx inspiring me to treat them as proper OCs.
   - Anneliese: I adore this little anxious mess because she is basically one massive homage to my history with the game before a long 5 year break. She is also heavily based on Bernadetta from Fire Emblem Three Houses. As a character I love the amount of myself I have written into her many quirks.
   - Launey: In the same vain as Anneliese, she is directly based on some aspects of my father that got me into Warframe in the first place. As a character I have always wanted to make a mechanic-esque character and this was the perfect outlet.
8.
    - Anneliese: Drawing, playing the Ludoplex (Especially Wyrmius), starting projects (doesn't finish any of them), sorting (She finds it calming).
    - Launey: Tinkering of any kind, making weird builds for her warframes/weapons/etc, fishing (on Deimos).
9.
- Anneliese: Only 1 actively, @lostlinmx's Operator Hunter. Founded their clan Starshatter together and built the dojo from the ground up.
- Launey: None outside of her sister.
10.
- Anneliese: Can take on aspects of her warframes without entering them. (Ex: She can enter the rift at will thanks to her close transference connection to Limbo or chill her body to subzero temperatures thanks to Frost.)
- Launey: Nothing specific really. She uses pretty standard transference.
11.
- Anneliese: Absolutely not, unless necessary. See above for the many times I have said she fears living things and it an anxious mess.
- Launey: Prefers to show off her actual body, treating her warframes like how someone would show off a hot rod they built.
12.
- Anneliese: Vazarin because she likes the water vibes of the school AND it helps her close friend Hunter.
- Launey: Also Vazarin because she knows how to counter almost anything.
I had alot of fun writing this so I am gonna make a part 2 with my Warframe OC Apollo.
warframe getting-to-know-you ask game
rules & recommendations
(like any other regular old ask game but since i haven't seen any for this fandom yet it can't hurt to recap rq)
if you reblog this, your ask box is fair game - make sure it's open

send an ask to a participating blog by referencing this ask game & the number(s) of the questions and which character(s) you want to know things about. people also sometimes just repeat the whole sentence for ease of reference or if they want to change/clarify a word about the question
if you reblog this from someone else it is polite to send them an ask from the game but not mandatory
be nice :))))
if someone asks you about your blorbos you have full rights to go ham blorbo-longposting
if you are getting less asks than you wanted, you have full permission to use this list as solo blorbo posting inspiration material

has anyone gotten the idea that odysseus' storyline in hades 2 is a depiction/exploration of trauma over his SA and how he's blaming himself for things that were out of his control? because that's the impression i'm getting from what i've seen. he talks about "goddesses" as his "greatest weakness" and that "he's not one to say no to them"...
Tumblr media Tumblr media
when mel invites him to the bath, he brings up mortals having different standards for intimacy than gods and how it usually has a more romantic/sexual connotation. she then asks if he's uncomfortable and he has a startled reaction and brings up circe and calypso again (but never actually by name)
Tumblr media
(this isn't ship/romance bait btw. odysseus knew mel as a kid and they're stated in-game to have a sibling/uncle-niece relationship)
also he grew apart from penelope after his return, but the game makes a point of showing that his love for penelope and telemachus is what drove him on at all so that element of his character isn't brought into question

#YES I love these thoughts thank you#I fully believe that if the scope had stayed contained there would have been plenty of time to tie Ekko into the parent themes too#we could've learned what happened to ekko's parents and learned more about the legacy ekko is carrying on with the firelights#at least he could've been drawn into the warwick plot if the warwick plot still has to be there#the extra kicker to tesla's mom's death is that she died uneducated and tesla spoke of how she would've changed the world#had she had the opportunity to do so. but living in a village in 1800s croatia she didn't have that opportunity#reflecting that in viktor's story would've doubled the gutpunches to his character in realizing that he has been ineffective in piltover#his mother gave him the opportunity that she never had and then he was too late to bring the benefits he wanted for the undercity to her#there is so much potential with jayce's character and ximena especially with how jayce's character has so much to do with image and ideals#and with how jayce never really grapples with where he came from compared to where people from the undercity come from idk#we really just needed a different vision for season 2 because if all the writers had was 2 seasons then a different game plan was needed#i always love seeing your thoughts on the show
AAAHHHH thankyousomuch 💖 I like seeing your thoughts on the show too!
If Ekko was trying to carry on an ideological legacy of his own, it would be a cool comparison to him, Jinx and Vi and bring him back into their shared story instead of sidelining him.
Also, I really how you worded Viktor being "given an opportunity his mother never had and being too late to bring the benefits he wanted for the undercity to her." Like, just reading that breaks my heart but if that actually played out in the show I'd be screaming, crying and falling over lol XD
Edit: Viktor's mom being a character could also add some interesting context/flavor to the song "The Line" now that I'm thinking about it.
And YES, Jayce doesn't really grapple with where he came from. I feel like I've seen different takes as to whether or not he was originally from Piltover and his near-death experience in the mountains was from a trip him and Ximena were on or if they came from somewhere else and ended up settling in there. I'd like to see that clarified on screen because either version would do interesting things for the two of them.
If it was the latter though, it could make for an interesting parallel between him and Mel as immigrants compared to Viktor who's a local and would further feed into the themes of image and ideals with Jayce. I personally would've liked to see more of Jayce grappling with how easily he was let go by people he thought supported him, namely house Kirraman, after being put on trial and how that affects his trust in others/people pleasing tendencies. If he was an immigrant too, that would add onto how he feels about his place in Piltover.
In a different world, with Arcane season 1 having such a focus on fathers, Arcane season 2 has a focus on mothers. The highest stakes remain the Piltover/Zaun conflict.
Mel and Ambessa, Caitlyn and Cassandra, Vi and Jinx and Felicia, Jayce and Ximena, Ekko could have someone too, and you know what? We meet Viktor's mom too. Here's why.
Viktor is inspired by the real historical inventor Nikola Tesla. Today, Tesla's family is usually considered Serbian and they lived in what is now Croatia. His father was an Eastern Orthodox priest and his mother, Đuka Mandić, ran the household, a genius in her own right in several ways, including being a clever seamstress, having an incredible memory, and being an inventor herself because she made tools and appliances to help with household tasks. Letters and pieces of interviews show that Tesla spoke fondly of her and that he felt that his talents came from her.
Tesla lived in Prague, Paris, New York, all over, throughout his career. When he was in his 30's, he was giving lectures in Paris when he got word that his mother was dying of illness. He rushed back to Croatia to see her and was there when she died, devastating him.
Listen, arguments can be made about respectfully reflecting real historical figures' lives in fictional characters - but the good, bad, and ugly parts of Tesla's life have already been ground up and used for parts of Viktor's story and in many other pieces of fantasy media. Just imagine a Viktor who leaves home (this wasn't in the show, but according to the writers, they believe Viktor's mom helped him sneak into the Academy, which makes me think they knew about Đuka and if they had included Viktor's mom, she would have been like her) to attend the Academy, intending to help the undercity someday. Arcane plays out in its usual tragic way. Imagine a plotline where Viktor hears that his mother is dying. He goes to see her, help her, something. She dies in his arms.
Just think about Viktor's mom being the specific example of someone he couldn't save, this moment being the one where he realizes his time in Piltover was spent in vain. Imagine she dies because of the problems Piltover and the Hexgates are causing Zaun, be it the Zaun Gray or the tainted water or what have you. It would tie Viktor's story so much more strongly to the plight of Zaun itself, it would be thematically consistent with the other Arcane characters who lose parents, it could be just one of several concrete examples of Viktor trying to help someone with his own hands, and it would show that he had connections besides Jayce that were tethering him and that Singed's "loneliness is often the byproduct of a gifted mind" really was bullshit (whether Viktor realizes it or not).

hades 2 is extremely funny if you think about it from chronos' perspective. like imagine. for YEARS you've been getting things done your way. you and your army have been holding strong against the olympians, and your son who caused so much trouble before, along with his family, are in your hold and have been since the beginning. you have control of the underworld, and of the house of hades, and you're reaching for olympus, sure that too, will be under your control soon enough
then. SUDDENLY. your captive son's missing daughter turns up out of nowhere. initially, she's no threat. can't even get past her own mentor, most likely. then, she quickly gets stronger. she learns, and the olympians support her unconditionally. she starts tearing through the underworld, escaping every trap you've laid, invading your house which was supposed to be impossible for everyone else except for the daughter of hades who still lives and who escaped your clutches as a mere infant.
suddenly you're left scrambling because this is not according to plan. she's not supposed to be here, nevermind the one person who poses a threat to your progress. she's like half your height and barely a full witch, but still.
