I'm right there with you on searching AO3 for a ShigaDeku fic that just 'hits right' haha. It's hard when there isn't a huge source of content for rarepair ships... I am legitimately so jealous of all the content BakuDeku fans have to choose from. (I'm a BakuDeku shipper too but ShigaDeku is THE ONE for me, lol).

I have a bunch of ShigaDeku Omegaverse fic recs if you're interested but you may have already read some if you've scoured AO3 for some.

Sometimes, we have to be the ones to write the fic we need/crave so that it provides us with the satisfaction of a story hitting all of the tropes/genres/plots twists that we love and want in a fic.

1) three ships:

1. I also have many a ship so I'll go with the one I brainrotted really hard for over the last few years, yalex (yassen gregorovich/alex rider) my beloved from the series alex rider! [assassin with a soft spot/extremely reluctant teen spy] dynamic, there's a shit ton of parallels between them, the metaphorical ghost that is alex's dad haunting the both of them, lots of angst-hurt/comfort potential, some infamous lines from the book that is nothing short of describing yassen in unneccesary detail or a literal love confession, I don't take concrit, thank you! thanks to the tv series there's been more fics but I would definitely still categorize it as a rarepair. somehow there still feels like there's such a wealth of excellent writing though!

2. next is adayu (adachi tohru/narukami yu) from the hit game persona 4 or persona 4 golden. [super nuanced jaded cop that goes too far/new in town protag who gains friends as a bit of a butterfly effect from said antag's actions] dynamic, yin-yang opposite sides of the same coin or two roads diverged mirrored equals, and definitely the darker accomplice!yu ending which leads to a lot of creative headcanons and whatnot. also a rarepair that within the last 3 years got a couple of excellent new longfics thanks to the various ports! I have an active discord server for the pairing with about 60-ish people total so we're going strong >:3c

3. finally I'll go with the ship that was the first "fandom" environment I participated in, eobarry (eobard thawne/barry allen) in all media forms, honestly. ngl I was kind of... young then cough so I tried not to be perceived as much as possible... I respect past!fel's enthusiasm but that's about it LOL. simple yet delicious [obsessed antag who is ready to ruin protag's life at a moment's notice/heart of gold protag who messes up... sometimes] dynamic that I need to get back into in order to describe it further. as you can tell, I'm all about the "but they're just opposite sides of the same coin" trope because this one's literally the flash and the reverse flash. from what I remember, I adored eowells but was always craving for more OG thawne in the tv series. in fact, I scoured through the recent flash movie trailer like a goddamn madman in hopes of catching a glimpse of the reverse flash, but no dice. did a little bit of ranting about it here and there on various platforms but since there's visible elements of change in the trailer such as kara instead of kal-el or how barry actually talks to his alt!self and doesn't knock him the fuck out or phase him out of existence, there's a chance they're gonna pull the whole barry vs evil!barry shtick again and I'm going to have to have to write self-cest. also again. rooting for suprise thawne in the theater when I go and watch it to reignite this possible flame, yeah?

2) first ever ship - it's not something I actually remember because it was that long ago. I can, however, tell you that the first three ship fic I wrote were hetalia character/reader-insert fics over on ff dot net about eight years ago. they didn't even last half a year before I wiped them from existence LOL but I've not deleted anything after that ‘cause I not longer care to

3) last song - it's still pulled up right now on my device, heh. it's shadow from the album "face the sun" by the kpop group seventeen. it's a gorgeous song, and if you look up the lyrics, they definitely hit too. about accepting the flaws in yourself, fears, shadows, etc etc

4) last movie - I actually rewatched the animated "flashpoint" movie recently because of the new flash trailer, ha. still can't get over thawne walking out of the shadows mid-movie stirring a mug of (?) so casually jsdfhsdkjfs

5) currently reading - like any other mentally well person, I have over 150 ao3 tabs open, so I'll choose the one that's most recent and relevent. the fic's called "something rich and strange" that's (the distortion/martin blackwood) for the magnus archives. take care to read the tags if you click into the fic^^

6) currently watching - not watching anything at all that can't be finished in one sitting because I've been so busy. the only thing I can think of is my once per week saturday blue lock episode. blue lock's a really well animated and cool-looking hardcore soccer anime that I would say is a totally different genre from something like haikyuu. it's about growth and egocentrism and super fun to watch; it's in-progress but there's over 12 episodes out already

7) currently consuming - the last thing I ate was some pani puri and naan >:P

8) currently craving - you don't understand how badly I need to see that flash movie. I need a flash that's a new flavor from the CW's and I also desperate crave for eobard thawne's entire ass character to exist again. if we're talking food, it's a bit too cold for me day after day so a heart and body warming meal of hot pot with lots of greens and root veggies, mushrooms, fish balls with roe, slices of beef and other meats or seafood, various tofus, and a delicious spicy soup base sounds so good right about now but I'd have to pester my roommate to drive me somewhere to grab it... maybe next week heh! another thing might be, hmm, dragon age 4? get in my mouth right now, dreadwolf.

thiiiiird, because this was spawned from a comment i made because of the ao3 thing, ive done more research into that when my brain was a little more solid earlier in the day, before it became the soup it is now. particularly this article, this reblog, this reblog, this reblog, and then this random shitty "article" that confirmed the 2019 cutoff date from the prev reblog (which was uncited), led me to conclude that it's probably fine to unlock my fics. my understanding is sudowrites is built off of GPT-3, which was trained off public access works and a web crawl which cut off in 2019. GPT-3 was a product of OpenAI. also there's some kind of "dont scrape this" flag the web crawl is Supposed to respect, and a discord comment says they already use that on the archive, but take that with a grain of salt ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

the reddit investigation reaaaaaally makes it seem like it was trained off fanfic as one of its datasets, i dont know how the hell you get those results if not, but its probably from stuff caught up in that webcrawl, which wasn't necessarily even from AO3, and it well and truly seems too late on that. i locked temporarily in case they were still actively scouring and not yet done getting everything off the archive, meaning some of my work conceivably hadn't been caught yet and could be "saved", but it looks like they stopped scouring before i started posting for she-ra LOL

also some people seem to be encountering a bug where fics that hadn't updated in years were pushed to the tops of their bookmarks as recently updated and they think that's related to this?? as far i know only a new chapter would change the publication date. i go back and edit my typos all the time: they remaind locked by the date the most recent chapter was initially posted. idk where people got that from.

HYDREIGON IS INSANE LIKE I LOWKEY LOVE IT i just think it’s so cool plus like the vibes of reader being this sweet looking girl and then she tosses out this villainous looking dragon vs nagi being all cold and intimidating but then his main pokémon is just a cuddly squishy pink blob of a dragon LMAOAO it’s so cuteeee plus lowkey since hydreigon are supposed to be super territorial and hate each other maybe aiku’s studying how much trainers’ feelings impact their pokémon?? and that’s why the two hydreigons are hesitant to fight even though it’s characteristic of the species (because reader and barou love each other #siblinggoals) also i think hydreigon would cook in the sense that there are some RANDOM characters that have pseudo legendaries when reader herself does not…like okay i can excuse nagi “main rival” and noel noa “the real number one” but KARASU??? CHIGIRI??? HIORI??? none of them have any business with pokémon like that /hj

okay wait i did a lot of reworking to make things work with hydreigon as a starter (it was not fun because pursuit is built on the barou cousins + houndooms bonds) but i just deleted it all because i realized that i didn’t need to…LMAO okay hear me out we keep houndoom as the starter and have the houndoom v houndoom family plot as well as the houndoom/arcanine parallels because i’m attached to that and houndoom is just iconic to reader at this point!! instead we change the two most irrelevant (sorry) members of her team: dragalge and donphan 😰 so the entire reason reader seeks out dragalge (as a skrelp) is because she needs a poison type to defeat pablo c because none of her pokémon are strong against fairies right…so replace dragalge with a nidoran that eventually evolves into nidoking (replace luna’s nidoking with muk or smth idk) and then you have a ground type on the team, making donphan (who’s only a ground type) irrelevant!! so then donphan can be replaced with hydreigon and that way the type composition of the team is still the same just spread out differently (instead of ground and dragon+poison it’s poison+ground and dragon+dark but the dark type is irrelevant because houndoom) but we get to keep houndoom and arcanine as the starters hehe…lowkey this makes reader’s and nagi’s teams correlate super well too like houndoom/arcanine, goodra/hydreigon, clefable/nidoking, snorlax/galvantula (they’re literal opposites in terms of size), reuniclus/gyarados, and whimsicott/aegislash SLDKJFN reader’s team is giving nagi’s team if it was evil (number one gender stereotype defying couple for LMAOOO yes nag does have all squishy cuddly pokémon and yes reader does have a team of monsters + one insect what about it)

HELP to be fair charles doesn’t show up until pursuit boruto but agreed we’ve fr discussed everyone BUT the itoshis lmaooo this is so on brand of us i’m proud…itoshis can have many things but they can NOT have pursuit ‼️

hm i think in bfb i described both karasu siblings as having hair like crow feathers?? where it’s still black but almost iridescent in a purplish greenish way i think i’ll stick with that in pursuit because purple hair is so not karasu LMAOO but that’s an explanation for why it’s drawn purple?? like it just looks purpley when the light hits it but it’s not actually purple…i think bfb also has yayoi with very very blue eyes whereas tabito’s are more of an indigo bordering on violet so i’ll probably stick with those descriptions!!

🍓 How did you get into writing fanfiction?

I've heard that other people did this, but as a kid (like 7-8?) I had trouble sleeping and so I would imagine scenarios in my head to help me fall asleep. Sometimes they were original little stories but other times it was planning fanfic in my head (LOL). I did this for a few years before I decided to actually type those scenarios out. I still imagine things to help myself sleep (nothing has changed)

🍇How many fandoms have you written in?

Published? Only 3 (Naruto, ACOTAR, Love and Deepspace). But there are a couple others that I just have never posted or just deleted

🍈How many years have you been writing fanfiction?

My whole life, basically, but I only started publishing seriously about 4 years ago. I've posted a few other times throughout my life but would end up deleting them or even the whole account (I used to be on fanfiction.net, no you won't be able to find any of the old fics)

🍎Do you read or write more fanfiction?

Honestly, probably writing. I have some VERY talented friends within ACOTAR, and I also will immediately scour AO3 for fics after finishing a book or series I like, but based on how much time I spend, I probably spend way more time writing. I put a lot of pressure on myself to write, for a variety of reasons I won't bore anyone with lol.

🍌What is one way you've improved as a writer?

I've been writing my whole life practically so this is tough lol. But let's say compared to when I was in like high school(?), I think I've improved a lot in terms of like zooming out to include more big-picture stuff rather than just the very narrow scope of what is happening between 2 characters at a given moment. Things I would still like to improve on is crafting more intricate plots/worldbuilding, and also HUMOR. I just am not very funny

🍑Do you have any bad habits as a writer?

Sometimes I'm like oh my god, it must be so painful to read any of my stuff because I think I err on the side of way too much detail. Like some things CAN be inferred, and it's better, actually, than pointing out every single microscopic thing. It's just annoying LOL. Also, using metaphors/imagery that don't mean anything. It's too much.

🍉What's your favourite type of comment to receive on your work?

any comment at all is nice. but it makes me really happy to read when people think a characterization or dynamic i chose works well for them. smut is also my favorite thing to write, so if anyone comments about that LOL

🍋What is something you've been too nervous/intimidated to write, but would love to write one day?

ummm i feel pretty comfortable with most things as far as smut and modern settings goes, but i get really intimidated by writing longer stories or anything that's super plot-heavy. as you can guess from above, i really second-guess my ability to create convincing motivations or follow a satisfying plot arc. i'd love to do it, i just psych myself out every time.

🍇What made you choose your username?

i loved miraculous ladybug in high school (still do, i just don't follow it as closely anymore), so my username is from that. "lady luck" in french is "dame de chance" (people sometimes read it as damned chance and i cannot blame them i did this to myself for the lowercase aesthetic)

🍓 How did you get into writing fanfiction?

As a teen I was a voracious reader and tried to write my own stuff based on other books I'd read. I also loved ST:TNG and wanted dearly to be in an episode and had lots of the books. I wrote my own ST stories with OC's (gratuitous self inserts), but they never went anywhere. In my late teens I read some Xena fanfic on the internet. But that was it for a great number of years.

At the beginning of 2021 I sat and watched the entirety of the MCU films in chronological order (I'd seen most of them before and was mainly a Thor gal.) I fell down the Stucky rabbithole. Deep. I decided to look up fanfic. AO3 was now a thing! I wrote (a very poor) Stucky fic and here we are, almost 3 years later

🍇How many fandoms have you written in?

As my ST stuff never made it further than my parent's old PC in the days of dial-up, I won't count it.

I've written for MCU, various Chris Evans and Seb Stan Characters and one fic for RWRB. I've been toying with writing a one-off Criminal Minds fic as a gift for a friend.

🍈How many years have you been writing fanfiction?

Three in July since I first published anything on AO3.

🍎Do you read or write more fanfiction?

I try to balance it out. If I have a period of hyperfocus writing I try to then go through a period of reading. I read on both Tumblr and AO3, so try to keep that even as well.

🍌What is one way you've improved as a writer?

Getting betas to pick me up on tense changes, overuse of words and rogue commas. Reading more. Practising. Writing outlines for longer stories so I don't go off-piste.

🍑Do you have any bad habits as a writer?

Getting bored half-way through a long fic, especially if the first few parts haven't had a lot of interaction. Which is why I try to write the whole thing before I start posting.

🍍 What's the weirdest topic you researched for a writing project?

Engineering courses at MIT and, for a separate fic, Violet wands, including the ways to use them and the differnt types of accessories you can use with them. I even watched a Youtube video.

🍉What's your favourite type of comment to receive on your work?

Any comment! Anything that gives me the validation I need!

🍐What's the most fringe trope/topic you write about?

I wrote a transformation into Tsum-tsum fic that was both cracky and smutty. That's pretty niche.

🥭What is the hardest type of story for you to write?

Action scenes. I loathe them. I'm constantly wondering if they are long enough, and make sense.

🍏What is the easiest type?

Short things that are either PWP or fluffy slices of life.

🍑Where do you do your writing? What platform? When?

Mainly on my elderly laptop on G-Docs, and in every moment I can - normally afterwork before dinner and on Mondays when I don't have work.

There are a few characters and ships I haven't written that I'd like to. And I suppose I'd like to write a proper long, over 100k fic at some point.

Sorry if this question seems a little off topic but I have a hard time writing canon characters. And I was wondering how would Homelander react if he saw a family of supes? I was wondering since it seems like Ryan is the only child that has a supe parent? Or they just haven’t shown any yet?

thank you! that's so kind! as far as we know, ryan is the only child to inherit powers biologically. other supes have had non-supe children, like translucent. for some reason, homelander specifically was considered infertile until ryan. perhaps due to high levels of V? jealousy comes to mind! homelander is deeply prone to feelings of envy. he might feel that he deserves that more than whoever he's witnessing it from. might speak with fake niceties while slipping in a few jabs. i think it really depends on the context. either way i am very sad for him fghjkl

I would say short hair or same as usual for Danny. Long hair would be more similar to Dan, which can make it more difficult to distinguish between the two. Even if you don't include Dan in the fic, with the new graphic novel there has been an influx of art with Dan (in human form) with the ponytail, so you know how that goes. Plus, Dan angst is always an option, if that's up your alley.

I remember there was a fic out there with Shadow Core Jason? I can't remember the title now but if you want I can try scouring Ao3 for it for you. I don't know if there's any one consensus, but a storm core could have some beautiful symbolism and imagery so that could be a wonderful option.

Platonic does have angst possibilities of its own but it is much easier than establishing a romance and writing chemistry between two characters, from what I've seen. Having said that, I am a very big Tim Drake fan so if you do want to know more about his character I'd be happy to info-dump on you! lol Or perhaps suggest some fic recs if you'd prefer a more artistic explanation of his character.

It's really up to you! I like the idea that maybe they're getting on better terms but there's still a level of friction there? It may be easier to explain why Jason does/doesn't go to Bruce for certain things, for example. However, if you don't want to overcomplicate the plot then maybe leaving them on good terms or having them reconcile might be the easiest on your end.

Both of these options would be so cute for different reasons. I will say that if you wrote Punk Danny, then you could tie in his love for Dumpty Humpty (which I think is a rock and/or metal band? I can't remember the genre now, I'd have to look back on those episodes). Also! Sam is goth, she could have totally influenced him. Bruce is a bit emo too, from what I recon, so while the public might be aghast by his newest son's punk image, Bruce probably wouldn't care. Also Tim seems to use a lot of punk disguises/fake identities so I'd say it's not unusual in the family.

Of course, please do not take these answers too seriously! If anything, I hope it helped you sort out your thoughts. It's such a pain to choose sometimes. lol It's most important that you enjoy what you're doing and how you're writing it. <3

Imagine the following: the writers of RWBY come to their senses and realize that their show is sorely lacking one thing : some happiness for our boy Jaune. They think long and hard on how to procure some for him, and decide that the best way would be to get him a love interest that isn't six feet under, or a single mother. Scouring ao3, they eventually come across your fics and decide knightfall's as good a pairing as any. You're now tasked with writing the official RWBY Cindemption and Knightfall Arcs. How do you do it? In order to not just be asking for spoilers to Distance, it's probably best if you stick to canon mechanics for this one.

TL;DR: If you had to realize Cindemption and Knightfall within the context of canon RWBY, what would you do? In as much detail as you're willing or able to give.

So back in 2014 I wrote this RVB Felix/Locus fanfic before the Felix reveal (won't say spoilers, if you know you know) and there was a good moment or two after that where I was like, 'No way,' because of what I’d managed to predict, which also happened to be more than the big reveal. There was no possible way Miles had read my fanfic, but I was very delighted, let me put it that way.

This is an awesome question, I love it. I've sort of talked before about how I'd think they'd do it, but if it's ME, alright, and specifically not Skimming Eye. So the way I'd do it is I'd ask: what are the emergent narrative needs of their respective characters, how can you best realise them, and how can you best realise the themes of the show through their romance? Salem/Ozma, life and death, queens and widowers and towers, all of that.

So I would say that structurally you need them to be:

The last realised romance (Salem/Ozma is the first) which needs a LOT of build-up. If I were working on V9, I would already be beginning to play into the Joan of Arc allusions with hearing from saints. I would very much play up the surreal stuff of the Fallen Place. In this case, I think this can begin to humanise Cinder or at least challenge Jaune. She's his anima, he's her animus, they've got to be resolved together at some point.

They're basically Edgy Rose/garden, so whatever you intend to do with that romance you can do subversions or echoes of with Knightfall. I was actually musing today on that scene where Oscar re-introduces Emerald to Ruby, that's basically Jaune trying to introduce his friends to Cinder. XD (I mean in the sense of Ruby going for the scythe when she sees Emerald - that’s Jaune being like ‘no Cinder, they’re my friends’ lol).

For Cinder, based on her redemption arc projection, we already know the Jinn narration that 'many had tried to climb [Salem's] tower', so Cinder has had failed challenges to her character. Jaune has to be the successful one. I do think it's fitting that he's the first in the story (and also the one who asks why she is like this), but what specifically makes him different? I think what has to make him different is that what he wants, and what he wants to know, is unconditional. Every other person (Rhodes, Emerald, Raven, Penny, Watts) has had their own interest, to a degree. The point of why Jaune works is sort of specifically because he doesn't have any of that. So if I were writing Cinder at this point in the story, she is at her peak, he is at her lowest (just like V5 - his peak, her lowest), the way you challenge her is basically to show her that the mask she's put back on isn't working.

So you need somebody to see through that.

Like somebody who already chipped away at it, but didn't really hurt her when he did.

I think that for Jaune's lowest point and Cinder's highest point right now, setting up interaction in some way, even symbolic (like, will Cinder see him in the Fallen Place? she needs to be going about her business, I suppose) is sort of necessary. Though if I were being really playful with the story, I'd have her go to Vale for the Relic of Choice, and the Fallen Place bring them out of Patch with Raven at Tai's (yeah I read Raven saving them as a foregone conclusion, though I definitely don't think it's an underworld, her portals have too much visual similarity to not be a connection).

So, actually, I'd have them interacting in Vale, which is also fitting because it's where a true Pyrrha resolution would take place. I think that Cinder would be really, really resistant to somebody trying to get in, but Jaune, by this point, is reflecting on his moral actions and who he is. He's supposed to help people. So who is she? Why did her Grimm arm hurt her like that? Is he really the same person as he was when this story started? Not at all.

There's no reason that here is exactly where the romance fully realises itself. There's argument to be made that Vale still comes after Vacuo. Cinder could fail to find the Relic here, but there could be the reveal that Summer's a Grimm and has been station holding off the school. So Vale is still returned to later... or not. If I'm to write them all in Vacuo instead, you have Jaune return from the Fallen Place in still a VERY low place, and very confused about what he had seen. I think he should be very unsettled and Cinder should still be very proud, and then inversely as I would write him stronger I would write her more shaken, but in a good way. She may be upset, but ultimately it's a ship with the highest price and the highest boon. It's not just that her redemption arc is making her care about people, it's about making her feel again.

In terms of show foiling... well at this point I think Rose/garden is happening, I think there's more complicated stuff happening with Salem - I would begin to seed HINTS of more Salem sympathy actually - and I would also be wondering how I'm writing Nora's arc. Nora is more independent, and so, too, is Jaune, because of his interactions with Cinder in whatever form they take.

I do really lean hard into the allusions myself, and for Cinder to free herself from Salem she has to feel again and confront that same pain she did with Madame. I'm of half a mind about third-party Cinder, but I could see Cinder being in an anti-hero position, if only because she's so resentful of what he has made her feel (he is her necessary suffering the same she is his necessary suffering. She made his Semblance unlock with what she did, so, what does he do for her?

Really funny how we had that, 'fully realised Maiden' shown off with Fria right in front of Cinder. I'm just saying!!!!! I think that Cinder has to stop wanting the other Maiden powers and has to feel safe, and also has to embrace her Fall Maiden power. In this case, I would actually make it textually sort of explicit that Jaune's Semblance doesn't just amplify Aura, but it also sort of like, spiritually emboldens and strengthens somebody. It's a foregone conclusion he helps her with the arm, and is part of the reason Ruby's able to harness her own silver eyes - for the most noble of tasks).

I would take my time building it, but I mean, their V5 has such eroticism and tension to it, that would still be running throughout however I'd build their Vacuo/Vale interactions, and there has to be a 'I want you to join me' moment, but on Jaune's part. Unconditional, not about the conflict, not just about who she is as the Fall Maiden or Salem's Maiden vessel, like purely, sincerely, Jaune has come to know her in the same way she has come to know him. She feels now. The emphasis really with her character needs to be that time has begun to turn, she can feel again, it's not midnight anymore. It's dawn. Now you see why I really like his yellow and sunlight, hm.

(On the note of his design: I'd give him the long pretty hair again. Sorry! Then of course as I've said, with her design, she would be silver/purple/blue, so she would get new outfits to reflect this transition to them matching each other).

All of the beats of the romance I'd hit would be the allusions as I've so thoroughly talked about. It's sort of mad how neatly it all slots in into R/WBY's story. It's not even hard. I'd tell the writers it's the easiest thing they could possibly do, it's already right there, and makes Cinder's redemption arc the most complicated and the sweetest. They love their foiling, so I'd also emphasise it's Edgy Rose/garden; they're sort of like BB, colour-wise, and given Jaune is a bit like Tai and Cinder's a bit like Raven for obvious reasons, they're a double-whammy of Reverse Salem/Ozma and Raven/Tai; it also hits a good trope of enemies-to-lovers, and they've covered a few good tropes now and it's time to hit the best one; what else, well, no one knows Cinder's backstory and if you want to introduce her perspective to other members of the cast, Jaune is the one to do with it. He's been there in front of her the whole time. So that's the funny thing, with Knightfall you get: Reverse Salem/Ozma (wound-healing); the Fall Maiden lesson in the Four Maidens; a reprisal of the Indecisive King; Rhodopis and Sappho's brother; you get everything else that is so cool about this ship and you give Jaune something very, very important to do in the story which realises the non-violent approach of V5 and his interaction with Cinder.

If I had to pick when the 'I want you to join me, and have lots of babies with me' moment would happen, with the most dramatic setpiece, it would be wherever the Relic of Choice is. I would really love it if, for instance, of all of the places where the Relic is hidden, it's somewhere plain like in the Indecisive King, or somewhere beautiful and green. Lots of living things, nothing unnatural, green beneath the feet, nothing manmade in sight, lots of flowering blossoms. I would really make the colours as much Knightfall as possible, like yellows, blues, purples, oranges, so it's not like the Haven Vault, maybe also try to pick flowers that only bloom in autumn. It should be very beautiful, and very tactile, and also sort of secret - like a meadow, perhaps. The way I'd frame it too is that it's one very quiet moment amidst a very dramatic volume (this would be maybe two volumes before the end, or even one - the last one is not about the Beacon Relic), and at this point they've already been falling in love for a few, and we know exactly why Cinder is here and exactly why Jaune is here, because we've been beaten over the head with the direction of their character arcs.

I would really give as much substance as possible to their earlier interactions, though. By this point Cinder is already purified and thoroughly rehumanised in the story, so she's got the full emotional context to make her decision, and really the only thing she wanted is to be asked. (Look at all of those scenes of people leaving her... and Rhodes leaving and letting her down. I don’t think Salem asked, by the way). She wanted somebody to ask her to go with them, because that's all she had wanted her whole life, and really the thing Jaune wanted the most is somebody who could still come back.

So you get the perfect answer to both of their characters, you get a believable Cindemption arc, something which appeals to her emotionally and makes her alive again, and then you have True Love's Kiss, because this a fairytale romance, come on!!!!!!!!!! That's why I think there's still a volume after this - so you get more romance development - and because Salem/Ozma is now healed, what next? I also want to see them holding hands and fighting together more, this is necessary. Oh, I would add in a team-up somewhere in Vacuo and then I would make it really really really hot and basically like sex.

Then there's the question of integrating of Cinder into the rest of the cast... I also think allowing time for that to happen is important, but the Fall Maiden joins last. That's all really interesting and it's possible to do through Jaune, and I think that, of course, Cinder is the best person to come back and fix things, make them stronger after they are broken. I mean, if you don't have Cinder with the goodies you are missing out on the most supreme, dramatic, amusing interactions. Living redemption arcs are so undercapitalised for these reasons. But now you've got all this FUN to have, even after you've established a great romance, so it's all you'd ever need lol.

Then what do you think the story ends with. A happy ending. Come on. Come onnnn. The whole point of the story is the technical absurdity of Ozma's death. I think that Salem and Ozma might get an inhuman solution to their inhuman states, so they can't get married again and have babies. But Cinder and Jaune still could. :D

Now all your themes are realised, you had awesome character arcs, you had great dramatic setpieces, great character interaction, something radical and new and different... what else? It's everything the show needs.

I hope this was an appropriate answer... obviously there are things I want to do in fic, but this was constrained in canon, and how long their slowburns tend to be. I hope it gave you something fun to think about. <3 <3 It certainly was for me!

It’d been a long day, Sans having been busy writing letters to congressmen for negotiations for monster rights, signing petitions for the same, and generally making sure everyone under his employ had been fairly paid and were still happy with their positions.

Not one of them had ever said they were unhappy with where and what they worked with, but he had gotten a few complaints about one of the more lazy bodyguards that had been employed nearly two years. He’d once again started harassing some of the weaker workers that cleaned the house. This was the third time the young rabbit had been caught doing so, and while Sans believed in giving someone a chance… there was a zero tolerance policy for sexual harassment.

Sans was as gentle as he could have been, letting him know gently that he would need to find another job because Sans wasn’t about to let him stay on. So of course things got nasty and Portugal had been called in as well as Ursula to take the nearly feral rabbit from the property. He hated that things had gone that way, but he’d rather keep his employees safe than keep on a worker who didn’t know how to keep his hands to himself.

That night Sans stalked to his bedroom, kicking his shoes off with a vehemence and flopping face down on the bed, unwilling to even look up when a weight popped suddenly in beside him.

“So. Rabbits huh. Assholes, the lot of them.”

Sans snorted, turning his face to the side. “Don’t let Bertha hear you say that, she’ll revoke your donut rights.”

Red made an offended noise, Sans chuckling as he rolled over, sighing as he stared at the ceiling. “Did the kid get him off the property alright?”

Humming as he examined the ends of his claws, Red didn’t really answer. “If you mean, ‘Did P give that asshole a good punch to the jaw for threatening to hurt you’, then yeah, he got him off the property alright.”

Sans laughed once, loud and sharp. “Well. I guess he sort of deserved it.”

He didn’t look at the bruise around his wrist, could still feel it, but he wasn’t going to look at it. Not when Red was right there to clock every emotion on his face and shut the entire place down just for one bad worker.

Edge was likely already losing his shit about it, but Sans was trying not to think about that either.

“I guess I’ll need to make sure Bertha gives him an extra muffin tomorrow.”

Red snorted at that, but went still as the door opened, Sans feeling his intent turn from alert aggression to a begrudging affection. Which only really happened for one person, Sans grinning as the weight of a body climbed up on his own, Edge straddling his hips.

He glanced up, finding Edge staring down at him with a sly, sharp grin, promise in his eyes.

“Well? You two gonna fuck me up or not?”

It was a long night, between the two of them, and it left Sans asleep on the bed with Red holding him from behind, thoroughly sated the both of them. Edge was standing at the window, the thing propped open like it never was, cigarette dangling from his sharp fingers. The nicotine helped him think, after a round of awesome, tender sex with the two monsters he loved most, brought him back to a place of clarity. Which was why he spotted the far off glint of moonlight on the barrel of a gun long before the shot actually rang out.

It gave him enough seconds to slam the bullet proof window shut, scooping Sans and Red up both to huddle behind the bed.

Just as he’d shoved them under him, the sound of bullets hitting the glass were sharp in the air, Red shouting a curse as one made its way through the wall just above his head. Edge shoved Sans further beneath him, glancing furtively around to find the case that held their own stash of guns they kept in the bedroom. Locating it under the bed, he snatched it out, grabbing Red to pull him close.

“Get Sans to the safe room, let me handle it.”

Red gave him an unsure glare, but grabbed Sans by the arms and was gone with a pop of distorted air.

Edge growled as a fresh barrage of bullets hit the side of the building, crouching as he moved past the mattress and to the edge of the window sill, glaring at the wall as the shots finally went silent, sliding the window open before standing to his full height and aimed his rifle where he’d seen the glint of the gun.

It was no longer there, the slight shadow of whoever it’d been long gone, but he shot there anyways, letting his aim be a warning to anyone stupid enough to try this stunt again.

There was only woods around San’s main property, there being a few buildings that made up the main complex. The gunman had been sitting on the top of one of such buildings, an oversight to have the access point to Sans’ bedroom right there. Edge would need to make a note of that after he was done scouring the building from top to bottom to find where the leak in information was.

Someone had not only told whoever was doing these attempts at Sans’ life where the master bedroom was, but had likely let them on the premises. Edge was beyond pissed that they’d just gotten rid of trash like that today, only to find out that there was more hiding in the shadows.

He’d let Red know as soon as lock down was over that they had a mole, his older brother sure to be incensed about the whole thing. Edge already was, but his anger paled in comparison to what Sans’ would be when he found out that someone he trusted had betrayed him.

He winced as he crouched from his stock still survey of the buildings out the window, wishing not for the first time that Sans hadn’t painted such a large target on his back.

First, thanks, that’s very sweet. I’ve been stressing about this because I used to plow through a lot of Stucky fics back in the day but I never bookmarked anything lmao. I think my favorite genre is ShrinkyClinks. Or I love a total AU with beaten up war vet Bucky and smol Steve and he’s like an art student or something. I used to constantly scour for those.  I liked plenty of big Steve fics too and some great ones going from canon but I do think people tended to write a more interesting Steve (at least in AUs) when they wrote him “skinny.” But I pretty much read any fic I could find that was an AU with vet Bucky. Literally the only title I can think of off the top of my head is “War Children” where Steve is trans- that one is very good.

I’M SORRY I DON’T HAVE A BUNCH OF RECS. But I would probably be reccing ones that are already often rec’d and popular, I usually just went to vet Buck or ShrinkyClinks and then sorted by kudos etc ykwim. That kept me well fed for a long time.

A shallow grave. So much less than she deserves. But … I can’t breathe. I can’t even think. I’m running on autopilot and adrenaline alone. Everything is just - I don't know what I'm doing. I don't know how I got here. I'm losing control. I can't - I can't even look at her. She's still wrapped in my sheets. I can see her bleeding. I still want it. I still want more. My hands - I’m trying to dig but they won’t stop shaking. My stomach is churning, sick with the guilt, I have to - I stop and heave once more, the remnants of my crime splattering grimly on the dampened soil. I’m so sorry. I didn’t want to hurt her.

 The Change had started a week or so after I returned home from Watford. At first, it was nothing more than a minor irritant - A stinging in the sun, a bone-deep chill. But … it worsened. 

First, came the dryness of my throat. That unceasing thirst no amount of water could quench. And then, came the mind-clouding obsession. My every thought consumed by blood. The steady slog of it through my family’s vessels so distracting that I couldn’t so much as look at them - The people that I loved - without that incessant need to take. Their blood. Their life. Their everything. 

It wasn’t me, not really, but I couldn’t stop it - Couldn’t fight it. Frozen, weak and powerless, my humanity withering away before me as the monster took it’s hold. I didn’t know what to do - Didn’t know who to go to - and so … I hid. 

I thought that if I locked myself away and waited for the initial thirst to subside, that everyone would be safe. That I’d make it through without hurting anybody - Without losing myself. 

I didn’t know much about Vampirism, but I’d been assured that the effects were at their worst on initial onset. If I endured, it would become more manageable. If I bared it, I could live with it. I’d pinned all of my hopes on that promise, but it had let me down. 

Father had a key to my door - An emergency plan. If I needed it, he could lock me in. But I didn’t, I had it under control. I thought that I was alright. That I could make it. No matter how hazy or desperate I became, how thirsty I was, they were safe. Everyone was safe. And then … Mordelia tried to be kind. 

She couldn’t have realised what she was doing. She didn’t know (None of the children did). She just didn’t want me to be lonely anymore. And so … she let Dotty in. 

I tried to get her away from me, tried to get her out of my room. But she thought I was playing, so she just kept running and jumping up at me, tennis ball held happily in her mouth. She was so warm, and I was so weak. All I could see, and think, and feel, and hear was her - Every breath she took, every maddening thump of her heart. I couldn’t escape it. I’d craved it for so long, and here it was, trapped in a room with me. I didn’t - I didn’t mean to do it. I don’t know what happened. One second I was shoving her away from me, and the next, I’d done it. I’d bitten her. 

I’ll never be able to escape the echo of her cries. How she whimpered beneath me, high pitched and betrayed. The fragment of me that remained, screaming, begging it to stop, to just let her go, overpowered by the darkness. By the need.  

I couldn’t let go. I just kept biting and biting and biting, pushing my jaw harder against her flesh. Blood suffocating me with every move, tacky under my nails and dripping from the lengths of my hair. I didn’t even care. I couldn’t care. Finally … I was satiated. 

And so … Here I am. Slathered in mud and crimson, desperately trying to bury my beloved dog in the shallow pit I’ve scraped out of the ground. Trying to forget it. Trying to pretend that this is some sick, perverted nightmare - That I’ll wake up and be me again. Tyrannus Basilton Grimm-Pitch, not whoever did this. Not whatever did this. I cant - I won’t - I don’t …

When I make it back to the house, the sun is hanging fire in the sky. 

I don’t know how long it has been since I took her - 4 hours? 5? How many moments have I had to bear it so far? My mind is clearer now, but I’m still lost. It wasn’t me, it was … I don’t know. 

Daphne screams when she sees me, and Father comes racing down the stairs in a panic. I didn’t think about them being awake. I should’ve just waited. I should’ve just stayed hidden. I should’ve just stayed gone. But it’s too late now. He’s pushing her behind his body, shielding her with his presence. Protecting her from me. I can see the realisation dawn on his face as he takes me in - My unmistakably bloodied figure, her yellow-spotted collar still clutched in my muddied hands. Disgust. That’s what I see. Pure, unrelenting disgust at what I’ve done - What I’ve become. 

“Mother, Father, I didn’t - I didn’t mean to. Please, you have to believe me," I’m sobbing, chest rattling as I try to explain - Try to somehow absolve myself of their justified hatred. It’s sick. A truly disturbed little performance. But, they have to know. They mustn't think … “I wouldn’t hurt you - I wouldn’t hurt anybody - Anything. It was an accident. I tried to undo it. I tried to heal her, but my magic wouldn’t come, I was too … I didn’t have enough in me. I’m sorry. I’m so, so sorry. Please don’t-” 

With a lift of his hand, he silences me. “Go and clean yourself up, Basilton,” he says, voice flat and hollow. “We’ll deal with this later.” 

We won’t talk about it, I know. We’ll act like it never happened. But it did. And I don’t know how I’m supposed to go on pretending anymore. 

 Later, as I was scrubbing the shame from my body - Watching the whole diabolic night swirl down the plug, as I scoured my tainted skin raw. The reek of Copper and Dirt, poorly masked with lashings of Cedar and Bergamot - I heard the unmistakable locking of my door. A vicious creature finally confined to it’s cell. That final, damning confirmation. My own family - Scared of me. They can’t even trust me not to hurt them anymore (And neither can I). Not like this. Not with what I’ve become. One of them. Crowley, Mother would be so disappointed in me.

If I am allowed to ask for multiples (never done this before).... also I absolutely adored the three connecting drabbles you wrote for "you meant it" till this day it left an impression on me, still think about it and reread it all the time!!!

5. What are your fanfic pet peeves? Do they have huge effect on whether or not you decide to read something?

Keep in mind this is just me and I’m not trying to offend in anyway, it’s just my opinion.

Blocks of texts. No spaces what so ever, just a whole block of text of a fanfic. Which leads me to: when two characters are speaking in one big paragraph instead of starting a new line to distinguish who is speaking. I don’t know what it is about it, but it always makes me exit out. I’ve tried reading through some but it honestly hurts my eyes and I start getting migraines ??? I don’t know why, but it happens lol

Google translated Spanish. I’ve seen a few people offer their help but I guess they’re too shy about it and I get it, but it’s a pet peeve strangely enough. It doesn’t make me want to stop reading, but it does make me cringe.

Daddy kink. Not really a pet peeve, but something about it makes me cringe? I was super into it a year ago, but the word has been ruined for me now. Will still read a fic, but will glide over it lol

The fanfic community is so big that its always hard to find new writers, and I haven’t been reading as much to scour through because there are SOOO many talented underrrated/unkown writers out there, but these are some writers from the top of my head

@forevans: she writes some of the most beautiful pieces! I first read her oh, the cliche series and let me tell you, it’s absolutely wrecked me! ; 

@linhiful : I read her Neighbor and Telephone series and its good!!! I have the stories in my draft to write a comment, but my god are they beautifully written

@soriseerakyra theyre currently writing a bruce wayne x black!reader and another bruce wayne x reader story that are so goood! They deserve more notes than they currently have on them!

fandom asks 1, 14, 24

1: favorite fic you wrote this year? - (according to ao3 i wrote 25 fics this year which is just…wild so um…this is hard to choose) I guess its probably either Get Some, or maybe To Welcome You Home? I had a blast writing Get Some (even this last chapter that is driving me crazy) but I’m also so weak to family fluff ¯\_(ツ)_/¯…but uh…this was harder than I thought it would be

14: a fic you didn’t expect to write? - um any of the prompts i got from @lesbianakari were a surprise honestly but especially the shlav ones…those definitely were not fics i ever would have written on my own and i still can’t totally believe i wrote them lol

24: favorite fic you read this year? - this is so hard to pick! i read way too much fanfiction to remember this! um I dont think i can name a singular favorite but a singular favorite from my main fandoms rn:

just come to me once by laallomri (voltron, klance, T) which i just realized is now updated/complete so i need to go finish that asap bc it was exactly the post s6 voltron i needed. the klance is so soft and good but there is also some actual development for keith and krolia that we were totally skimped on in canon and their travels in space were far more what i expected b4 they go to earth than what we actually got 

journey to the past by aloneintherain (bnha, class 1-a feels, T) makes my heart feel so warm and full even in the more heartbreaking moments like izuku’s friends being “imaginary” bc they! all! love! him! so! much! (and this is cheating bc this is abt a whole series and journey isnt even a part of it, but aloneintherain’s entire see it all in bloom (T) series is iconic and what i consider post-canon now until proven or convinced otherwise)

And like the cycle of the year, we begin again by katherynefromphilly (bbc merlin, merthur, M) this was such a good conclusion for the series set in modern day with amazing OCs and it felt so much like a story of its own i wanted to print it out and curl up with it like it was a real book

and last but not least

The Chronicles of the Virgin Asahi by Ellessey (haikyuu!!, asanoya, E) my hq obsession comes and goes and my latest bout of it struck about a month ago and ive just been scouring ao3 for daisuga fics i hadn’t read yet or rereading old favorites when i stumbled upon ellessey’s work and read 90% of it in like a week and reminded myself in the process how much i love other ships in hq as well (but chronicles also has some adorable daisuga and the family dynamic between daichi suga and asahi is my favorite thing in the whole world the 3rd years are my absolute favorites from the original series and they had such a good dynamic here with such wonderful writing it was literally a blessing to stumble upon this fic)

….i have so many more i actually still want to talk abt but i am restraining myself for the sake of this ask and bc i have other things i need to be doing lol
