Goodness this is like the third episode in a row begetting discourse among the cr fandom. For me this discourse has two perspectives where the division depends on whose perspective you're looking at;

For the armies it was 'We've been sent by the gods and are here to help you stop Predathos as we pla-wait, you're a vessel of Predathos? Isn't that just like Ludinus planned??' which yeah is valid from their perspective

For the Hells it was 'We just came out of 4 back-to-back battles with Ludinus and Predathos itself, we have a solution to save the gods but change the dynamic but we want to discuss it privately with the gods first and now you're trying to kill us!?' which is also valid

What puts me more on BH's side is that we have the context; BH are allowed to be terse when people try to kill them and fail, least of all allies who don't ask for an explanation before asking their god to come down and smite them. They're not villains because they snarked at the person who attempted to sic their god on them, and it's not as if Imogen sic'd Predathos on them in retaliation. Once again they are met with the thankless job and burden that they neither wanted or asked for, but was thrust upon them anyway. With all the times Bells Hells have been criticized for being aimless and indecisive it seems a little strange to criticize them now for being focused and decisive.

Could they have explained from the start? Maybe. Would it have caused a different reaction the moment they said Predathos is in Imogen? Probably not. I can't tell you why they didn't come out of the Cage and immediately explain because I'm not the players; perhaps they wanted to avoid the hysteria and conflict, perhaps they were drained from the fight and wanted to wrap up the episode, or perhaps it was just down to Bell's Hells, as with all CR campaign parties, being infamously bad at communicating, I don't know.

But it's times like these where it's worth reminding that this is a DnD show, nerdy-ass voice actors having fun, it can't always be clean and clear-cut storytelling every second. And sometimes as a fandom we need to take a step back so we don't get ourselves stuck, because we're probably making it deeper than it is and getting annoyed at each other over our interpretation of two groups from the same side getting annoyed at each other. Just, take a breath.

no no don't talk to me. you're telling me that Blitz and Stolas both have pictures with the other of themselves smiling while the other doesn't? and those are the ones they each keep? you're telling me there is a tangible representation of their different perspectives of their relationship???

Stolas' pictures including a conscious Blitz looking away from the camera and Stolas. Blitz's picture including an unconscious Stolas cuddled up next to him. Because Stolas believes them on equal footing/the same page about what their dynamic is with Blitz just hating every minute of it and Stolas. Because Blitz believes they're on different levels entirely and that the only way he can be content is when the rest of the world (and Stolas specifically) live on without him.

Because Stolas and Blitz are both terrified of being/dying alone, but while Stolas would sacrifice his love for Blitz, Blitz doesn't believe his own love is worth anything to begin with.

I know that some people are annoyed that Antoine is a fairly popular and well-liked secondary character, and I know that usually in fandom this happens because of the well-known White Male Character phenomenon, but I genuinely don't think that's the case with him. I think he's well liked because, despite his limited screen time, he's incredibly specific. often in ways that work really well and interestingly within the context of him as a Warden of influence at this moment of change for the order.

he's a Warden who Joined under the rarer circumstance of not having been recruited but having been Blighted. he didn't even have the slightest apparent aptitude for recruitment, he was just a servant in a country estate who contracted the Blight saving the other servants. he specializes in creating explosives and alchemical fires and is constantly tinkering with what is apparently a mechanical bomb. he's extra sensitive to the Blight in a way that imbues him with a vibe that's a mixture of Cassandra, the Pythia, and Ophelia. he's relentlessly cheerful and joyful against the traditional archetype of a Warden without falling into naivety. he is very much styled as a cross-disciplinary scientific researcher. he loves his wife so openly and fearlessly in a context where such relationships are often difficult to maintain and short. he wrote to his wife that he does what he does not out of duty to their cause but because he wants the world to have more of the sparrows she loves in it. he loves stories and spends a lot of time listening to people share their local folklore and recording it. he is incapable of writing a letter without using at least two exclamation points. he believes that environmental preservation and restoration is part of Warden work. he loves the Anderfels and the Hossberg Wetlands as a place when few else do. he designed non-magical automatic doors just to do it. he's Orlesian elven and all that implies. he blatantly hates his boss. he was bitten by a werewolf once.

like, yes, fandom often latches onto nothing secondary characters on the basis of being a white guy, but it's like... sometimes the white guy speaks to people because he's genuinely an interesting and compelling character. characters, especially supporting ones, are interesting when they're specific.

I get the appeal for Cregan and Jace, but I'm already nervous about how the fandom will treat Baela and her relationship with Jace as a result. Could both ships coexist? Yes, but this fandom has proven many times over that whenever a black person, specifically a black woman, is involved said ship is often overlooked or dismissed. This can be said for many of the ships in the show, which I've talked about, and Baela's treatment even outside of mentions of Cregan (I love Heleana, but it is not lost on me how some Jace/Hel shippers dismiss Baela). Like, this isn't the case for everyone, but enough for it to be very apparent. All in all, I just want the best for my girl Baela Targaryen.

somehow managed to be fine with the most popular laios ship (i actually enjoy it, tbh, labru is very good), but i absolutely do not like any of the popular chilchuck ships except chilaios

My two biggest Iruka hc's are that 1) he also took part in the third shinobi war, first as a messenger because kids are harder to keep track of and can easily slip in and out of sight during chaos, and then he became a router, which is when you infiltrate the enemy to get information to 'route' their advance and/or lead them into traps and ambushes because again: Kids Are Better At Sneaking Into Places

And 2) He lost absolutely everything during the Kyuubi attack. Not just parents but his home all the things they owned, any heirlooms, clothes, furniture, pictures, just gone. Completely. The only things he managed to salvage were a badly damaged hunting book of his dad's that detailed various traps which Iruka has spent years trying to restore to varying success and a few singed sealing scrolls of his mother's that he used to further his own studies in secret
