hello   friends   !    i've   been   absent   for   a   bit   (   not   that   it   was   super   evident   with   my   running   queue   )   but   i   needed   a   quick   breather   to   get   my   head   on   straight.   i   love my   dash,   these   muses,   and   the   wonderful   people   that   i've   met   through   here.   however,   my   life   is   a   mess   right   now   and   i   frankly   can't   dedicate   as   much   time   to   this   blog,   and   writing   in   general,   as   i   used   to   do.   writing   is   my   hobby   and   not   my   priority.   

activity   will   be   slower.   it   will   take   longer   for   things   to   get   written.   i   care   about   each   and   every   interaction,   and   i   try   to   be   as   fair   as   possible   when   it   comes   to   writing   replies,   but   it   can   be   weeks,   if   not   months,   before   i   have   the   time   to   write   a   reply.   if   you   want   fast   replies   this   is   not   the   blog   for   you   !    and   i   will   totally   understand   if   you   choose   to   unfollow   because   of   this,   no   hard   feelings   whatsoever.

i'm reading a lot of comics at the moment, but my main read is Manhunter (2004) which so far, is very good, i highly recommend. i'm also planning to read Midnighter (2007) and Black Widow (2014).

coffee or tea: tea. i used to be a big coffee person in my teens but my chronic illness doesn't like caffeine and it *really* doesn't like coffee so i just drink tea now, but i do love tea

hobby to try: the unrealistic hobby i'd like to get into a fanfiction binding, but that takes materials and resources i do *not* currently have. i think a more realistic answer is i've been meaning to get into marvel comics more.

current au: tbh the main AU i'm working on is a Lance Brunner-centric Post-Crisis fic where i'm completely rewriting his origins to make his death as Robin more significant but still something no one talks about, leading to the ressurection of Jason also reviving Lance and Jason going on his little spree, having no idea he's not the only dead Robin. i've figured out all of the backstory and how i want to characterize Lance, but the actual plot of the fic i'm still working out. i'm leaning toward Lance/Dick as a ship, but i haven't decided. i have so many notes and ideas though and i think it's funny to take a random one-off character from a random 60s comic and actually turn him into something substantial and how he'd shape the Batfamily. trust me i'm so close to infodumping about it here everyday.

i'm also working on a *really* messed up unhealthy Damian/Tim fic, where Damian purposefully breaks the timeline so Tim was never Robin and Damian was the third Robin instead. but when Bruce "dies" Damian realizes he has no idea where to start with finding Bruce so he has to go to a civilian!Tim for help, who has no idea the timeline was changed or that he was ever Robin in a different world. it's gonna be fun and fucked up and full of Damian's jealousy complex over Tim.

What's your creative process for drawing fanfics? And how did you got into them? (Reading and/or writting, whatever you want to answer!)

I feel like making fan content (whether drawing or writing) comes really naturally to me, as soon as a piece of media I enjoy "clicks" the right way. I've attempted some OCs and worldbuilding on my own in the past, but I find it way less intimidating to create stuff when I have somewhere to start. It also makes it a lot easier to share with people that also like that media.

I feel like I have two stages when it comes to getting into a new game/show/book/whatever: the one where I learn the canon, and the one where I bend it to my will.

When I first get into something, I experiment for a few months, learning how to draw/write the characters I like in ways that feel like they make sense. I familiarize myself with their backstories and personalities, patching in things if I find gaps where I could sneak a headcanon I like, until I eventually get a good grasp on whoever I'm focused on. I find out what parts of their face I like drawing, or how I like writing from their point of view, what clothes suit them or what their dynamics with other characters are. It comes naturally with time.

(This sounds like a chore but I promise it's just as fun as the next part. Bear with me.)

Once I feel confident that I know what I'm working with, I start switching things around and getting hypothetical. Knowing that this character has these traits, what would change if [insert thing] happened? How would they react if they were in [situation]? Having a framework already there lets me experiment with concepts more. This is where I really start making new stuff and expanding on what's already there, rather than just drawing a character the same way a million times.

Overall though, these aren't like cut and dry, linear steps I take. I'm experimenting with designs and details from the beginning, as well as going back to glance over the things that are actually canon after I've been doing my own thing for a while, as a refresher.

In the end, most of my process is just thinking, "hey wouldn't it be cool if I changed this?" and if it works well enough, I keep it. I generally just toy with ideas as they come to me and draw them or write them down. Whatever I like sticks until eventually I've got a whole concept down.

the little zigzagoon was found outside digging through the trash bins. kevin just about chased it away with a broom, but it soon imprinted on him, and now it's one of his closest pokemon partners. the rest are kinda... ironic.

as for his job? i can almost see the candy shop being just like the other food stores in game, where you can buy food/other items, but you can also challenge the shopkeep to a battle, albeit reluctantly on kevin's end. maybe he gives you high valuable items if you beat him or something, and the difficulty ramps up each time.

A list of things that could best define Tsux but it gets less and less clear towards the end

When I had to make profiles for all my UTAU, everyone's pages were pretty straightforward except Tsux, unsurprisingly. In this case, I am mostly talking about the section that describes their species.

I have a pretty clear idea of what she is in my head, however putting that into concise words wasn't really easy. I have her down as "glass humanoid" as it's the most basic definition, but otherwise the most specific one would be "living embodiment of infinite power".

As I would continue to think about this, Tsux's concept is also like "the boss/secret boss that's really hard to fight". Like one you're supposed to summon, but again, it's nothing that's so clearly defined.

If you seem strong enough and call to challenge them, they'll send you through. Otherwise, they won't bother. Like how is that "power" defined? Who knows.

I also wanted to make it clear that while I once had set Tsux's species as "robot", that's no longer the case because it ended up not making any sense to me. That and, well obviously Tsux isn't human.

In the end, Tsux is Tsux. I don't think it really matters too much what labels clearly-define her because I find that it may end up confining a character, forcing them into boxes of "expected images"-- I've seen too many people do this elsewhere that it worries me.

I thought about making this little list for the fun of it, just to ponder about it, play with it, but I hope you won't think too hard about it.
