About JJK236 (leaks), the future of the franchise, and why I have no interest in following the story from now on.

Yes, it contains spoilers.

First, I tried to wait until the official manga chapter was released because commenting on leaks is quite disrespectful to those who patiently wait for the official sources. I couldn't. Also, I wanted more time to grieve and think about Gojo's fate, but I could only last one evening. It's too much to handle, I guess.

Regarding this, I have three ideas:

What a bluff. It wasn't surprising. I mean, the whole Gojo "Throughout Heaven and Earth, I alone am honored" has its roots in sacred texts that refer to Buddha, but it also links the figure of Gojo to an old friend of Western mythology: Icarus. The one who tried to fly too close to the sun and got his wings melted. It's a typical Ancient Greek God punishment for hubris. I honestly thought that Gege had thought of a better outcome for such a complex character.

It's fitting, though, the afterlife scene. Most of the adult characters who have a real impact on the plot are living on borrowed time. The loss and tragedies they went through in their formative years kill their expectations and goals, and they enter autopilot mode, waiting for the next negation to take over. So yes, Gojo comes back to his last growing moment. And I think he will be stuck in there forever, not matter if he goes north or south.

He might not be dead, which also shows poor storytelling skills, quite a bummer for someone like Gege. I mean, he already had a miraculous recovery from death. Two is too close to a joke. Tsk, tsk, Mr. Akutami: if you create a character that has the essence and quality to become a deus ex machina, you have to think ahead about a proper demise, or at least a proper closing - and achievement, a sacrifice - for him. If not, you are throwing yourself into the clutches of bad writing.

That’s the reason why I’m done with JJK.

JJK has lost its unique storytelling and my favorite character is also dead, an in consequence I am not going to keep reading it.

And that's fine. 

Authors must deal with this: brave, true-to-yourself decisions might face disagreement from some people. Fans should also be able to move on. 

My problem is not that I have lost interest in the plot - which is, in truth, what happens here. But thankfully, I still have fanfics and the anime. My problem is that I am afraid that from now on, I might predict what happens next, and I couldn't care less.

The future of the franchise.

So, until the end of the year, we are going to face many small, insignificant battles that lead to the one held on December 24th.

And then, here is my prediction.

Most of the characters will perish. My bet on the survivors: Maki, Yuuta, Yuuji, and some random people here and there. They will win, Kenjaku and Sukuna will be sealed or something like that, but after that, there won't be more jujutsu world. No more cursed energy. The survivors will have to deal with some curses-related issues around the globe, but they will be able to live a normal life that will, honestly, suck.

It's going to be hard to read and difficult to accept. After all the exhausting emotional stress that comes with being a fan of this franchise, I think it's time to move on and catch up with it in a few months.

In the meantime, I will enjoy the fandom.

Until the fandom is extinguished.

But that's also fine.

i wanna talk about this thing gege said

i’ve seen a lot of people saying that this is a bad way to write a story, and i couldnt disagree more. from a writer’s perspective, there is no reason to kill off a character if it’s not going to have impact.

in any case, i think this reaction points out two things i’ve noticed about the jjk fandom.

i. jjk fans prioritize enjoyment of characters over the plot

which is fine, i guess. i’m not gonna begrudge any readers the space to enjoy their fav characters. however, what i disagree with is the constant trashing of gege and jjk as a story because the narrative doesnt treat the characters as you want it to.

i mostly talk about these things from the perspective of someone who has been writing for a while, so i will take a second to acknowledge from the reader perspective. it’s easy to get attached to characters and see them as real people in your life.

but they arent real people. they only exist for the author’s intentions. every time i see someone complain that “x character only died because plot” i just think “yes?” characters exist for the plot. they exist to serve the narrative. they live and die for the plot, and that isn’t a bad thing. this is a story. that is how stories work.

with characters like gojo or choso, it’s easy to look back and see their character arcs and how their ends fit their purpose in the story, but i think people get so caught up in wanting to fuck the character, or fanon, that they forget their original purpose is to do what gege wants them to do.

this is a war against the most powerful, most evil sorcerer in history. of course characters are going to die, and of course it’s going to be characters we love. it’s honestly unrealistic to expect anything else.

and i think it’s really disrespectful to say so many rude things to gege because he is thinking about the story he wants to tell, and not the story that best suits your favorite character.

ii. few people want to feel anything from what they’re reading anymore

which again, is totally fine, but maybe read something else?

tragic stories have existed and enjoyed immense popularity for millennia. and theres nothing wrong with that. there’s nothing wrong with authors intentionally stirring up their readers’ emotions.

i wanna bring attention to the origins of the words “tragedy” and “catharsis”

“tragedy” is a genre that stems from greek drama based on human suffering and the terrible or sorrowful events that befall the main character. the intention of of tragedy is to invoke “catharsis”

“catharsis” is commonly used to refer to the purification of thoughts and emotions by way of expressing them. in terms of tragedy, this refers to arousing a negative emotion with the intention of expelling it so the audience can walk away feeling relieved.

for all intents and purposes, jjk is a tragedy. it’s meant to make you feel sad. that’s gege’s intention. yet every time people feel upset by a specific event, they call “bad writing.” if anything, according to what jjk is, it’s good writing if you feel sad.

i have seen some people say that jjk wasn’t set up this way, and i disagree so strongly that it’s hard to comprehend.

jjk0 ends with gojo having to kill his best friend, his one and only. tragedy. yuuta’s story is tragic too, having cursed rika and accidentally isolated himself just because he didn’t want her to die.

jjk starts with yuuji faced with execution just because because he wanted to honor his grandfather’s dying wishes. within a handful of chapters, there’s yuuji’s “death” and junpei, and there’s a clear set up of tragedy and repeated loss, despite characters giving their best effort.

i could get into how this relates to my interpretation of the themes of jjk, and sharing burden/responsibility to be stronger together, but that’s another point.

tldr; the point of this post is to say that gege killing characters and making readers feel sad is not bad writing or a bad narrative choice. it’s true to his intentions and the essence of jjk. if you don’t like that, then don’t read. but there’s no reason to disrespect gege and his hard work just because it’s not your cup of tea

Hi Sweetie ❤️ Heard you were looking for some rankings, so here am I once again... Now that Bloodflood is on hold, let me gather my thoughts. How long can this get 😮‍💨...

First, the ranking based on the anime only:

1) Toji--> I know he's not part of the yanderes but hear me out THIS HOMELESS GROWN-ASS MAN HAS BEEN HAUNTING MY DREAMS, MY DAYS AND MY NIGHTS FOR ALMOST A YEAR, THIS IS NOT FUNNY ANYMOOOOOORE 😰.

2) Suguru--> Me trying my best not to cry seeing my all time favs not being included 🥲. Joke aside, really liked the fact he wanted to "mercy kill" Mizu cause he knew what it was like to be Satoru's prey. Really heartbreaking, my poor babies.

3) Choso--> Well... my type is hard working, muddy guy 😅. Finally we enter the yandere grounds 🥳. Fun Fact: Absolute first jjk man who stole my heart, seeing only 2min of him in season one.

4) Sukuna--> Me looking at my RoR Ranking with Shiva on top 👀💧. What can I say... Four-Armed Men=Best kind of Men, certified Monster-Lover here.

5) Yuuta--> My sweet cutie babyyyy 😭😭 made me scream when we saw him at the end of season 2 with his big ass weirdo eyes...

6) Satoru--> Well... I understand. He's like, bred to be perfect, but I never was any Gojosexual to be honest (all my homies love Toji-).

7) Megumi/Yuuji--> I love them as characters, really, but the ranking is mostly based on the HoRnY... they're adorable, but... not in a sexy kinda way?

8) Kashimo--> To be honest, like every character introduced during the Culling Games (the only exception being Gigami Chadguruma) , this one absolutely never impacted me in any kind of way. I'm utterly neutral about him. Nice buns tho.

That being said... oh boy, time for the Tsunami ranking!

(1) Megumi/Yuuji--> Look at my bois, how sweet they are😭. They climb at the top because I just reaally loved their interactions with Hime. They have yet to disappoint me, and I just feel they would treat her the "best" out of all the suitors. I could be wrong tho. Also the way you write Megumi😳, it made me realise the potential of HoRnY- Was wishing he would fu** her in front of Yuuta's camera-

(2) Sukuna--> I stayed up all night just to read your Shisui flashback. It may be my favorite segment of your story, how talented can you be? Ryomen Sukuna... he is the one who has the most reason to be obsessed with Mizuhime, he helps her with exorcism when Gojo puts her down, he has four arms 🤤... He could have been my favorite but to be honest, I feel like his ending would be the absolute worst for Mizuhime (being the King of Curses, the final antagonist etc...). And I just love her so very much, she needs at least one good ending 😭

(3) Choso--> Ok hear me out- I know I may be biased, we hadn't really seen him yet, but it seems he would be kinda like Yuuji. I think he could treat her well. And he's just so clueless, how cute🥺. I makes me wonder: would he be aware of Yuuji's love for Mizuhime? If so, would he try to be a good "big bro" and support his little brother, or would he be selfish and try to keep her for himself? (I think I already know the answer-)

(4) Satoru--> Like someone famous said: "Certified LoverBoy, Certified Ped******"! Maaaan, no wonder Hime wants him to stay in his box, he's so nasty🤣. Gross, disgusting, pathetic, obsessed, overpowered, terrifying... He's the worst, but he's so funny to read at the same time. Let's not even talk about his Heian counterpart... As I said, I never was a big fan of this character, but with all the Jjk fic I read, I can say your portrayal of Gojo is my favorite in all the FanficVerse. It may be the same with other characters, but especially for him. How dreadful, to be the object of obsession of the Strongest in the World... He is still at the bottom tho, we don't need this creep around Hime ever again.

(5) Kashimo--> I have no expectation with this one, as I've said earlier. The electricity power seems interesting, but honestly write him however you want. Seeing your blog he seems like a little shit too.

(6) YuUtA🤬--> Well... if you paid attention in the Pjo/RoR ranking, you already know where this is going. Don't you wonder, what's the point of the dual rankings anyway? I use this to compare how high can a character climb (Megumi/Yuuji, Loki) and how low can he fall. And man, HOW LOW DID YUUTA FALL. It breaks my heart because during the first part I was the biggest YuutaHime apologist. He has seen her fucked up family, he bought her books, plushies, he was sweeeet 😭... If he was a yandere "on his own", maybe I could have let it slide, but how can you go from "Damn Hime your relatives are a bunch of creepy weirdos" to "No u can't unfiance me uwu cause I'm ✨️Daddy's Special Boy in Law✨️" Do you know what happens when you do shit like that? I'm gonna tell you, you earn the [Whiny Little Bitch] stamp. Actually, maybe it was my fault. Shouldn't have put all my faith on the Panty Stealer to begin with. I may be harsher with him because, unlike Gojo or Sukuna, this kind of yandere is not cartoonish evil. The way he acts (manipulation, baby-trapping, forced union enabled by the relatives), it seems... way more realistic. It's not funny or entertaining, it's just... sad. I don't want my best girl to end up like the 2nd Sanyu. Not to say the way you wrote him is bad, it was the best to show us how much of a LOSER he is. Yeah I love sukuna but it's obvious Gege would accept a sequel (let's be honest shounen jump is still panicking, they just lost both MHA and jjk) if he can separate Sukuna from Yuji, because, let's be honest, he loves sukuna but he HATES yuji, which makes Sukuita (romantic or not) too fucking sad, because Gege will never compromise with those 2. Sukuna and Yuji being so forgotten after Shibuya was just bad.

Even if there is a sequel it will always triggers me Sukuna won't be with Yuji (but of course gege will make sure Yuta appears asap and as much as possible, despite how he is so boring he makes Gojo boring too, and villains even stop being interesting when they fight him. it's true that gege seems to hate and even regret making yuuji the mc, as they've done their best to take as much of the focus as they could off of him. and i believe shonon jump is also part of the problem because they care more about the popularity of the story rather than its actual quality. i'm just glad gege had enough will to not sell out to those who demanded he revive gojo or even that yuuji be replaced by yuuta completely.

there was a lot of wasted potential with the sukuita dynamic. however, i'm still glad that this chapter ended positively for both of them even if they aren't together. sad that it should be the case but it's more than i feared we would get, so i'm just grateful sukuna was allowed to be a character again (once more, all thanks to yuuji).

sukuna and yuuji really were iconic and amazing together. i'll miss them a lot, i'll probably still be bitter about how much potential was lost because of gege's bias for years to come, but i'm still glad that they had so many great interactions and moments with each other.

I just wanted to say your posts about jjk 236 are refreshing, in a way. So far every social media I use have been singing nothing but praises and saying, “Well it’s a tragic story, what did you expect?” or are Sukuna fans failing to see how all of this was a cop out and rushed writing.

But mannn, even tragic stories need a silver lining every now and then to get us to actually like reading the story, instead of reading it to simply finish reading the story. Even Attack on Titan had its moments of hope (it also had its issues narrative-wise but at least fans could be happy about some victories).

And it’s annoying how Gege started with so many important themes—the traditions/systems put in place by the older generations is what destroys hope for the youngest, the youngest generations deserve a chance to experience life and joys of youth fully without death looming over their heads. But the way he is rushing it indicates there is no hope for change (this is what makes me extremely angry).

+ all of this is going in the direction that Yuuji will be the only one alive, and that’s…

I wish it was possible for other writers to get involved so each character gets proper development or at least proper arcs.

Anyway, I appreciate I’m not the only one angry at Gege. It started as a story with a lot of potential, but I think it’s ok, and necessary, to admit Gege is not at his best currently.

Kindred souls 🫂🫂 It's past midnight for me currently and I've seen many people criticize this chapter by now throughout the entirety of the day. I think that because the dust has settled finally, fans are seeing through this really disappointing writing. You're not alone in your opinion, trust me.

The tragic story angle is such a cope because JJK has given us nothing but needless cruelty after needless cruelty after needles cruelty. The good guys have never won. That is not a tragedy, that is endless misery. And it's not fun to read. What the hell is the point in reading entertainment when it gives me nothing but despair for 236 chapters straight? Gojo died without achieving anything and he died without changing anything. Everything is back to square one. And how will the rest of the cast kill Sukuna now, who is even more buffed up than before? We need like 20 asspulls, 2 new Gojos, Kashimo, Hakari, 3 Yuutas and Yuuji soul swap asspull for this shitshow now.

what do you think was the moment that yuuji and megumi realised that they liked the other? which one of them made the first move? what would tsumiki’s opinion be of yuuji?

Let’s start with the easy one—Tsumiki would love Yuuji.

She’d be unspeakably thrilled Megumi found someone, and she’d love Yuuji for who he is anyway. He’s a good person. He has a great heart. And he genuinely cares about her brother. Yuuji and Tsumiki would be so disgustingly close. Megumi would be on the phone with Tsumiki and Yuuji would be like “is that my best friend???? Let me talk to her! Bestieee” And vice versa.

As to when they first realized they liked each other, I think Megumi borderline always knew.

I think Megumi is someone who is very self aware with what he’s feeling and has absolutely negative ability to actually address that. He knew before they went to the detention center that he liked Yuuji in a sort of vague, low level kind of way.

Like, was it love? No, they’d only just met. But Yuuji was genuinely kind and good. Megumi liked spending time with him. He was Strong and Fast in a way that made Megumi learn things about himself that he did not fucking know before.

I think that megumi very very rarely likes people, and that he probably never dated in pre-canon. So he wasn’t really prepared for liking Yuuji or planning to act on this.

It was in no way actionable information. Confess? Absolutely not. Experience the mortifying ordeal of being known? Ludicrous. Clown idea. He’ll put all these feelings down somewhere small and then one day he’ll die.

I think he regretted it after Yuuji died. I think a part of him wished he had told him, even if they would have never had time.

I think Yuuji didn’t even know he liked guys until he liked Megumi.

If I’m being silly (and being in the sea glass gardens universe), he didn’t realize until Nobara pointed out that his violent jealousy towards Okkotsu Yuuta, gods perfect man, regarding his relationship with Megumi was not a totally straight experience that he liked Megumi and it crippled him for days. He kept laying on the floor of Nobaras room and having baby’s first gay crisis. Nobara was ready to put him down like a sick dog.

If I’m being more serious, I’d like to think that Yuuji realized he liked Megumi during one of their softer moments together.

I think it was nothing of note. They were watching a movie together. Megumi made a dry, tiny joke that was par for the course when it came to his humor, and Yuuji thought to himself man, I love him. And he realized he didn’t just mean it the way he usually means it for his friends.

He didn’t realize how much he liked him until it already happened. Then he was in it, and he couldn’t get out again.

Then he kept lying on the floor of Nobara’s room having baby’s first gay crisis and she was ready to put him down like a sick dog.

I think that the one who made the first move would actually heavily depend on circumstance. I think Yuuji’s more like to make the first move in peacetime, but megumi’s more likely to do it when they’re in the heat of the moment/verge of death.

Yuujis a bit better with emotions than Megumi. He’s got that little bit extra bit of confidence that would let him do it behind the school, to risk it for the sake of having more. But megumi’s already had to live with the regret of not telling Yuuji once before. I think he’s the one most likely to let it all out in the heat of the moment and pick up the pieces after.

What did you think of Saturo Gojo's death? Was it a forced and anticlimactic death? Do you think he can come back to life again? If he comes back will he lose his powers? Thank you for always answering our questions.

Initially I was disappointed and felt it to be anticlimatic because Gojo v Geto/Kenjaku has been built up since JJK 0. The strongest sorcerer and the worst curse user! Former friends(lovers), current enemies(exes)! The set-up seemed like it was Sukuna v Yuuji and Kenjaku v Gojo.

But after some time, I get it, tbh. Yuuta was the MC of JJK 0 and his animosity with Geto has already been set up. Gojo himself brings up Yuuta when mentioning fighting Kenjaku so this was a long time coming. It makes sense to me now why Yuuta dealt the killing blow. Love is a curse, Gojo killing Kenjaku would curse Geto indirectly again and Gojo doesn't want to do that again, ever.

The only other opponent left is Sukuna and the final fight with him will HAVE to be Yuuji. There's no other choice.

With Kenjaku gone, Sukuna weakened, and Yuuji growing strong, there's no point in Gojo returning. What's he gonna do if he returns? With or without his powers? He also got what he wanted.

Raise a group of sorcerers who work together for the common good? Check

Have Geto's body put to rest? Indirectly check because Yuuta is his student and he trusted him on that

Find someone he can be on equal grounds with and finally be understood in his loneliness? CHECK

Find satisfaction? Check. He said he's happier in his death dream/actual purgatory/ airport afterlife thing. The two people who could make him satisfied were Sukuna and Geto. Sukuna gave him the best fight of his life where he actually had to work and got the chance to go all out, Geto's dead so in life, he can't do anything about what he wants from Geto. Dream or not, Gojo finally met Geto again, he WANTS that meeting to be real. Bringing him out of it is just going to take away whatever peace he found in fighting Sukuna and speaking with Geto.

Gojo's story is done. He'd be redundant now. The only big bad left is Sukuna, and whatever Kenjaku has planned could probably be dealt with by the rest of the cast (it's a fucking powerful cast too). It's time for the new gen.

I also can't see Gege wanting to bring him back when he has stated a bunch of times how difficult it is to write Gojo. Practically speaking I think he could do RCT and come back. but like, I don't see it happening.

I do have one scenario in which I'd like to see him revived; He makes a binding vow or something which sacrifices his Six Eyes in exchange for an extra few minutes(heheh 6 minutes maybe) of living where he can assist the kids and he's back to being dead again after the time is up. An encouraging message to Yuuta and Yuuji maybe and bye-bye.

If he does come back to full-time, his story arc might be about defining himself outside of being 'The Honored One' but lbr he'd be fucking miserable because all his friends sans Shoko are dead. Does Gojo WANT to define himself outside of his powers? I've never seen him express the desire to lower himself, only that he wishes others would rise to his level. This is, I think, the best way to end his story. A tragedy, a young god.

The only thing keeping me not depressed is the idea of the after life being seemingly canon in JJK so hey, maybe Gojo will find happiness, a long life and satisfaction in his next life cycle?

Jujutsu Kaisen

So I’m actually mad because there’s a lot of manga readers that likes to critic without really knowing what jjk is about.

. They say that Gege is misogynist because there are only a few women and all of them apart of Maki are dead, and Maki is alive because she is like Toji a man. It looks like they are forgotting the whole aniquilattion arc by Maki, yes, the objetive is to show that Maki can be, as a woman, as strong as the most powerful Zenin, Toji, or even stronger, destroying their conservative thoughts. Showing that women and men are equals. And Gege shows diversity with Kirara and Uraume’s characters that I love. Megumi is also probably pansexual because of the way he described his ideal type, which also matches suspiciously with Yuuji’s name meaning unwavering compassion (probably a wrong interpretation because of Japanese use of honorifics)

(Mai could also be bi as shown in jujutsu strolls written by Gege, when she felt attracted to Takada)

If there are a few women in the jujutsu world is because it was said in the manga that the higher ups believe it to be a world of men and Nobara corrected it saying that she is just Nobara and a sorcerer, nothing more nothing less, genre doesn’t matter. But at the same time it explains why there are only a few women because of the conservative thoughts still lingering.

And everyone equally dies, it is more noticiable in female characters because they only are a few. Basically Gege expose discrimination as a existing problem which is bad and wrong and has to change.

. The other part is that jjk has a bad time pace, I have to say that I agree with this. Jjk has a extremely fast pace which has cons and pros. A slow pace story, for example one piece, will let the author to deal with a better development of the story and characters, but can become boring and the story can lose purpose and focus missing the objetive and the meaning behind it. The fast pace makes the story have plot holes because of bad explain story or half develop characters, but can be more entertaining because it goes directly to the important parts.

Now both extremes are bad, and we know that all mangankas doesn’t work alone and the editors play a really important part.

Jjk because of these fast pace has suffer from critics with how Gege plays with emotions and impactful moments, Gege likes to kill characters to show that human lives are “fleeting” as Sukuna said. 

It doesn’t matter if you are the strongest your human nature is volatile like a flower like Yuuji’s name, which contains the meaning of humanity and flower, it is a metaphor that uses Gege the same with the love and the butterfly trapped in the spiderweb.

It is true that it would be better that the pace was slower to take more time with each character, still if you have curiosity you can read the novels and official books which are canon and contain more information, for example that Nobara was trained by her grandmother, which was a sorcerer…

In jjk there are a lot of fights because first is a shonen manga and second they are constantly being attack for the enemy, and Gege puts a lot of effort in explaining the techniques which are really diverse and interesting, for example I really like Kirara and Hakari domains. My favorite is Megumi domain and Yuuta’s ability to mimic others techniques.

Jujutsu Kaisen for me is really good and one of my favorites, I have read a lot of different mangas of all different genres and I would say that it’s one of the best in the shonen genre, “Shonen is defined as a genre of anime and manga from Japan that targets young male audiences. However, though they target a young male audience, they are often enjoyable for all ages and genders. I wish for the author to continue the story, for the end of the series there’s a chance that the villains are going to win or the cm win but the end is going to be sour, Gege said there is no bad and no good characters and I believe that is the case even with Sukuna, most powerful curse=love most twisted curse, and he was originally human.

10 JJK favorite characters and why? Doesn't matter dead or alive

First off, thanks for making it 10 instead of 5 so I can do my boys and girl justice. Since you asked for 'why' then knowing me, it won't be concise lol

Suguru: actually 1st place is both Suguru and Choso. It's very very hard for me to choose one out of the other but if I really have to rank then Suguru has more plus point in that, from reader's pov, he has deeper characterization and overall more developed thanks to his role in the story. Also a more complicated character which makes analyzing him more interesting. His design, appearance, techniques makes him the coolest jjk character for me.

Choso: from the 1st time he was shown and opened his mouth it was hook, line, and sinker, no turning back for me. I kinda see him as a single-minded character which is a trait that is usually be hit-or-miss in fictional character. It cud be either quickly redundant, boring, and underdeveloped or the exact opposite. For me Choso is the latter and all the positive praises. I love how Gege-sen chose his storyline until now. He has the best design out of all jjk chara. I love everything about him. Hottest character in JJK. Hotter than the sun and magma. Period.

Nanamin: I honestly cudn't find a single thing I cud dislike from this man, except myb the fact I wish we get to see him more w/o glasses on cz he has those pretty piercing gaze which I like. Has the best personality out of all adults in JJK (women chara included). He's what my friend and I said, the type of guy who wud easily pass any marriage interviews just being his true self, w/o even trying to impress the other party. And the kind that effortlessly nails all requirements of a son-in-law for many asian parents lmao, even if he himself doesn't wanna get married. Nothing but praise for his attitude and mannerisms.

Noritoshi (smol) : I've always loved underdog and this one is criminally, unfairly underrated. Added to that a pretty boy with family issues, sobbing backstory, who has great potential like him. One of jjk characters whose character development is so jarring and makes him a much better person. Seriously, if only he gets more showtime and is developed further. I love both his old and new design. Imo the way he's drawn is unique and quite different from others. Hopefully he's saved for more bigger role in the end w/o being disposed. He's not to be wasted.

Gojo: While I've never had a 'Gojo phase' whichever arc it's in, and while the concept of a loud, happy-go-lucky, rulebender, free-spirited, good-looking character who is great at everything he does isn't new to me, I found him very interesting as a character in that the way he was written is often contradictory and the way he's narrated making him more complicated than he actually is. I'd say Geto is the more complicated out of the two, but despite having much more showtime and elaborate backstory, Gojo rarely is shown being contemplative (for readers' sake) nor offers deeper insights of him as a character than what he's willing to give so it makes speculating abt him more intriguing.

Inumaki: Has one of the coolest CT in JJK, his design and characterization the most unique of all. Another great potential that is unfairly wasted that Gege doesn't even bother to give more of his backstory or development. Ultimate bishounen of JJK like nobody can even compare, followed closely by Suguru and Noritoshi yet he still wins by a margin.

Yuuji: It's hard not to like this sunshine personified. We can see how good Wasuke's upbringing was from the way he treats others close to him or total strangers. Polite and kind. All positive energy so his dynamic easily works with other characters well.

Yuuta: Also has one of the best character developments out of all. I just love it when a quiet or meek character suddenly turned unhinged after being prodded right. Love how cool and composed he is after coming back from overseas (on the outside) and still a precious cinnamon roll inside.

Shoko: Man, I just vibe with this girl in dna level. I'm literally like her irl except that I don't smoke. Do the job, do it right, chill, and dgaf abt everything else (on the surface). She's the character I can relate the most.

Higuruma-san: just...how can I not be excited when there's suddenly a nearly 40 y.o BAMF, awesome, cool ojisan in a shounen manga where all the powerful popular characters are either teens or late twenties or more than centuries old...I like his backstory, his perspectives on both his old world and the way he takes things in stride with his new world. A dark-haired as well, which is a plus.

An unpopular opinion: I don't ship Toji and his wife. I ship Toji with MEEE lololol

Character I feel the writers screwed up (in one way or another): JJK is so young a manga yet, it hasn't really done any misses for now. But there's a lot Gege can and actually should expand on before he ends the manga. I really wanna see more politics within jujutsu society. Worldbuilding and lore on the Great Three clans. Flashbacks to Heian period society and its sorcerers. More jujutsu clans that aren't the three main ones, like Inumaki. And also, I'm biased so I want to see Utahime's curse technique before I die and it should absolutely be badass. (also revealing how and when she got that scar)

Favourite Friendship: Nobara/Yuuji/Megumi!! they are BESTIES in a way that Shoko/Suguru/Satoru has never been

Character I most identify with: Miwa. I, too, have an super mega gigantic crush on Gojo Satoru. And I, too, would likely get my butt whooped by Maki.

Character I wish I could be: Tsukumo Yuki. One of the only four special grade sorcerers, she don't even do shit, but still gets payed big money and she looks good doing it. Love that for her, wish that was me. Also her spending quality time with Choso. What a lucky gal.

When I started shipping them: Zutara? Oh boy, it all started a long time ago, when I was 13/14 years old when ATLA was still airing. More than a decade later, and I'm still shipping them.

My thoughts: bryke missed out on the greatest love story that could have ever been told on American TV.

What makes me happy about them: the fact that they are complete opposites and still so much alike. fire/water, blue/red, awkward turtleduck/fierce opinionated baddie– and yet both are incredibly righteous to help people, both are loud and have a temper and have absolutely the worst, lousiest sense of humor. The way they understand each other, the way they both had to grow individually and how they grew together. Nah, they're perfect, your honor.

What makes me sad about them: the fact that they were denied the opportunity to heal the world together. If the comics are to be believed (and I do NOT consider them canon) Zuko spiraled into loneliness and distrustfulness after the end of the war. While there was a whole bunch of nonsense in those comics, something which is absolutely true bc it's just something repeated in history again and again; a sudden change in regime will always have detractors; some more violent than others. So assassination attempts on Zuko's life is something that definitely would have happened. It's unfortunate he went through that alone. And if LoK is to be believed, Katara didn't do much in terms of reformation post war besides being Aang's GF/Wife. The disrespect. Nothing would have been a better show of unity than having the Fire Lord marrying a woman from the SWT and then they do everything to heal and regrow their communities together. Worlds of potential wasted there.

Things done in fanfic that annoys me: Bashing Aang. I do NOT fuck with that. Aang is a sweetie, innocent little bean. I understand he would have some emotional distress at Zutara, but fics bashing him or writing him completely OOC in lieu of Zutara is a no-go. I immediately skip. We love supportive, grown-out-of-his-childhood-crush Aang, not whatever the fuck some authors do with him to make Zuko look like the better option for Katara.

Things I look for in fanfic: Usually fix-it fics. But I'm a sucker for arranged marriage AU

My wishlist: I go back in time and somehow create ATLA when I was a kid and pitched it to Nick instead.

Who I’d be comfortable them ending up with, if not each other: Jet. Both of them. Jetkotara is god tier!

My happily ever after for them: Fire Lord Zuko and his consort Katara, being so fantastic at repairing the world and ushering a golden age of peace and prosperity, that they're canonized into legend and protective spirits centuries down their line. Kind of like Oma and Shu, people make art about them, stories are told and rewritten about their love for each other, statues are erected in their honor, kids named after them, cities retitled because of them etc. forever after.

How I feel about this character: Aleksander, you deserve so much more than these books.

Any/all the people I ship romantically with this character: Alina doesn't deserve him either, but their symbolism together is so beautiful. And Nikolai with Sasha, that handsome bastard!

My favorite non-romantic relationship for this character: Sasha and Ivan. Ivan really was his ride and die, till the end. Wish we had Aleksander's POV to know how he felt about his death.

My unpopular opinion about this character: He shoulda fucked Elizaveta. And let Alina suffer the consequences of being a Grisha for a few centuries on her own. That'll teach her.

One thing I wish would happen / had happened with this character in canon: He became the motherfucker TSAR! And won! And saved his people from death and persecution all around the world! Made his country flourish in culture and technology. Lived forever, yes. But happily. Knowing that no other child have to suffer fear and torture ever again the way he had when he was young

Favorite friendship for this character: Sasha and Nikolai and David. Completely fanon, but the potential of all three of their dynamics together would be hilarious, chaotic and ingenious.

My crossover ship: Aleksander Morozova, the Darkling, the Black General, descendant of Ilya Morozova and the Starless Saint x the Queen of Fire and Blood herself; Daenerys Stormborn of House Targaryen, Queen of the Andals and the First Men. I think the first one that comes to mind is Mei Mei bc having her work as a narrative foil to Nanami would have worked if her grooming stopped at her turning her little brother into her own personal meat shield/child soldier who defined himself by his usefulness to her. Everything beyond that actually detracted from that exploration.

Tbh, I really enjoy jjk but I do have some issues with the writing in general, esp wrt the women/girls.

(Gonna do this for Haibara bc I got more thoughts on him)

How I feel about this character:

I love Haibara. He's kind and funny, and I think his optimism/ability to see the good in the people around him is really admirable. He's also another member of the big brother club, which is one of my favorite character types.

Any/all the people I ship romantically with this character:

Nanami and Geto.

My favorite non-romantic relationship for this character:

SHOKO. I would have loved to see him interact with Shoko.

My unpopular opinion about this character:

I think despite how people might characterize him, that he wasn't naive. He forbid his sister from attending jujutsu high, so he obviously understood the danger of being a sorcerer. I know he serves as a parallel to Yuuji in many ways, and I think he (like Yuuji) chooses to hide that. I don't think he was oblivious to Geto's decline.

One thing I wish would happen / had happened with this character in canon:

I hope we see more of him, to be honest. I'd love more time spent in that era.

Favorite friendship for this character:

Nanami. I love a good sweetheart/grump friendship. Haibara technically gets two because Geto falls into that category too.

Is so fun, Hikaru just gets to see his brothers all tamed, the moment Yuuji says something rude or tries to hurt Yuuta/Hikaru both brothers make Yuuji apologize,and the the oldest takes him away to make him calm down, he comes back all dizzy and soft again!, and the youngest just take Yuuta to give him kisses and hugs, "My poor baby, look how scared you are, is okay, Im here, sit on my lap"

Hikaru can finally be around them without fearing for his life.

Yuuji slowly learns the more the older brother breaks him,. He slowly stops running his mouth so fast and watches what he says..he hates not being in control though like it feels so weird! Also the fact that the brothers cause the twins to not engage in incest activities makes Yuuji a little annoyed like Yuuji has all this pent up dominant energy that he can’t use! He ends up trying his best( and probably failing) to dominate the older brother

Yuuta on the other hand absolutely clings to the younger brother, using him to calm his nerves and tics whenever he’s hella paranoid or anxious. He’s not used to feeling relaxed so when nothing bad happens to him after a while he has a panic attack just paranoid that something is gonna get him. Just absolutely freaking out like “I-I never had peace for this long! S-something is gonna happen! Something bad always happens to me! I-I wish I-it would just happen already so I could get it over with!” Like he’s not used to getting good things or nice things so he’s nervous, the. His paranoia falls onto the younger brother where he is worried that all this is a trap like why would anyone love him or be nice to him?! This must be a trick!!

Hikaru is actually quite amused seeing his brothers tamed, plus this means he doesn’t have to worry about getting violated when he’s around them anymore. It’s definitely a win-win
