Just imagining Abigail meeting Lawrence. Adam has it all planned out, even cleaned the apartment up slightly so they could all sit and chat, he really wants Lawrence and his sister to get along. Lawrence comes over, introducing himself to Abigail who's apprehensive but trying to be friendly, and just when everyone is settled on the sofa, ready to watch a movie or something, Adam gets a call for a job which he totally forgot about. He rushes out, apologising to both his boyfriend and his sister for leaving, but promises he'll make it up to them.
So then that just leaves Abigail and Lawrence. Lawrence isn't exactly sure how to act, knowing that Abigail has gone through a hard time, but not knowing the specifics (Adam refuses to tell him because he's a good big brother), and Abigail is just shy in general, uncomfortable being around someone her dad's age again.
But soon they get to chatting, Lawrence talks about Diana, showing him a picture of her in his wallet to break the ice (something which worked with her brother), and she notices the little drawing peeking out from underneath. Lawrence tells her that Diana is quite the artist, although she much prefers drawing her favourite Pokémon than her family, like most 10 year old children do.
Abigail mentions that she also draws, mainly sketches of the outdoors and birds, her favourite animal. Lawrence politely asks if he can see the drawings, saying that Adam had mentioned that most of the time she was scratching along in her sketchbook. Abigail is hesitant, but agrees, grabbing the spiraled sketchbook covered in bird stickers and handing it to Lawrence with shaky hands, although Lawrence is heart-warmed when he realises she's shifted ever so slightly closer to him on the sofa, meaning that slowly, she's trusting him.
He flips open the sketchbook to wonderful black and white drawings of the outdoors. Lakes, deers, cliffs, and of course, many birds. He's amazed, saying how talented Abigail is, which flusters her. He hands the sketchbook back to her, to which she looks at, then looks at him. She breathes in deeply, lip quivering slightly, as she asks if she could maybe sketch Lawrence. She won't be a nuisance, he can watch TV while, and it's just well, she doesn't have a lot of experience drawing people, especially in profile so, y'know, it would be good practice is all. And it's ok if he says no, she won't mind.
And of course Lawrence says yes, turning on the TV to some random episode of The X Files while Abigail starts sketching away.
A few hours pass and Adam comes home, bumbling his way through the door, apologising loudly about how late it was, its the just the damn guy tried to sell him short of a whole $50 when they clearly agreed on $150 over the phone. And god, he was such an ass-
But Adam's rambling is cut short by a low "shhh" coming from the living room. He walks in to find Abigail asleep, head on Lawrence's shoulder as an episode of The X Files begins to play. He notices Abigail's sketchbook on one arm of the sofa, page open to a scratchy drawing of Lawrence, although it doesn't seem to be quite done, some of his hair is missing from the tops and the sides, and his eyes are still blank, but it makes Adam beam with delight.
He sits on the sofa on the other side of Lawrence as he tells Adam about his day, about Abigail and how he hopes that she trusts him, that she knows he only wants what's best for her, even if they have just met. And Adam, heart once again full with love, kisses him gently on the cheek and thanks him for being patient, saying how he's already gained so much of her trust in such little time, and apologising once again for running out on them last minute.
And soon Adam is also asleep on Lawrence's other shoulder, and he smiles to himself, looking at the two siblings and thinking, even after all their time separated, they're a lot like each other, and he hopes he can make them both happy.

i just. hit s+ rank in splatoon and i never honestly thought this would happen?? am i cool now.. do i get to be a part of the s4? do i get to be watered down to my running joke all the time?
#the last part is a joke but i do not see a whole lot of recognition of the s4 being. the s4#like yeah they were cool formidable foes in the s1 era and skull even beat goggles despite his plot armor#but now theyre just#there??#dont get me wrong i love their existence but#it feels like theyve been watered down at least a bit#skull is always just getting lost and army is almost always either the manual guy or the curry guy#thats. thats it thats their bits#skull also has the sweets thing#rider is sometimes a considerable foe too but at the same time the s4 doesnt usually consist of him so im not sure how much to count him#that being said it is a kids manga so i dont really expect it to lean too far into the formidable foes thing#even the xblood werent that scary in the long run and ended up goofy despite being who they were#i also get it in terms of fandom#i understand the appeal of something like aloha being cutesy dumb pink guy (who maaaaaaybe commited some crimes and it shows)#i also definitely understand the appeal of army having a thing for curry as well as the manuals#the manuals can be an endearing thing to write about trust me#but i also wouldnt mind seeing more things that center around the likes of the s4 and the xblood and even the best8 being the absolute best#of the best during their prime#reminder that s+ was the highest rank around when the s4 were introduced. same with the xblood#they were the strongest players and id like to see things that center around that#id like to imagine that moving on to the square and splatsville that the s4 would have had a chance to move uo and get into xbattles#i think of all of them skull and army would have the highest chances of actually making it to xrank and being successful#but honestly if mask and aloha could probably make it pretty well too if they got off their asses#and i think rider would excel as well being rider#he has his own kind of near plot armour i think#so do most of the big teams in my opinion#theyre the sort of doomed by the plot that forces them to battle goggles at some point lmao#maybe i could use this in a fic or au one day#maybe someone already has...#(please send to me if you know of any creators who have played around with these vague ideas of strength i wanna see em)

i think. everyone should stop reading my most popular fics that aren't really that good and start reading the ones with 18 kudos that are significantly better
#this is about (just wanna be) somebody i'm proud of#yes i had fun writing it. but it's REALLY NOT THAT GOOD#also i cannot stress this enough: that fic was a fluke#it's NOT a good example of what i write. guys i'm so much better at the angsty character study fics#i promise i actually can get proper characterization. i had to sacrifice some of that for the light-hearted stupid cheesy premise#alas#no one in fandom actually cares about characterization#ngl sometimes i even wonder what the point of writing stuff in-character is if the flat#'characters reduced to a single trait that they may or may not even possess'#fics will ALWAYS end up being more popular than the ones with good characterization#anyway i know why the 18 kudos one is so low. it's the mcd tag. AND it's a gen fic centered around a character no one cares about#i wasn't expecting that one to do well#but it does suck that like. my most popular fics will never actually be my best ones#it's the same with bsd but THAT'S a whole other story#that's the phenomenon of everyone reducing bsd to the skk show and not giving the time of day to fics centered around anyone else#do u guys realize there are SO many other INCREDIBLE characters and dynamics????#like i was doing that bsd fic rec event on twt and almost all of the fics recced were skk#meanwhile i was searching for anything NOT skk bc idk other ships and characters deserve appreciation too??#and i don't even read much skk bc it's so hard to find anything that's. like. ACTUALLY good.#anyway. i don't actually care if you read somebody i'm proud of#but i hate that that's like. one of my most popular fics by a longshot#i have stuff that is so much better that people won't even glance at bc it's not tagged with the most popular m/m ship in the fandom#hello grace here

no I understand, tbh I kinda wish that’s how my special interests work but no they just are Always There even if there’s no active content,,, and I appreciate you saying you won’t abandon it, it’s genuinely kinda upsetting whenever authors do just quit a story without finishing it or at least explaining where they wanted it to go (like don’t get me wrong I understand losing interest but imo if you’ve gotten people invested u kinda owe it to em to give closure)
You had me till the end where I need to remind you I don’t owe anyone anything??? No matter how invested you get I don’t charge for any thing I put on the internet cause I write mostly gay fanfiction for copyrighted properties and do this because it’s fun and I want to share. CDAP if far from my first fic or au to get attention and I am aware of the people who want it to continue. I’ve been in and likely will be in the same boat again but never have I ever had the audacity to think the author or artist owes me more of their work just because I was invested.
I have and will delete fics I’ve written at a moments notice for reason more petty than i just felt like it. I make the habit of keeping up or reposting old work just to track my growth, fandom trends and as a curtesy to those who may want to go back and read it. I have literally thought of deleting it for asks just like this because it’s extremely upsetting to me to have people try to compliment sandwich me with “I love your fic and understand the burnout/lack of interest… but I want to read more so like get over it it’s not fair :/“ CONSTANTLY. Like I don’t clearly have other interests I mention or post about and maybe trying to hound me into focusing on only one may actually make me stray farther from it? If I don’t share anything about it ever again that’s my choice. I don’t need to give an outline for anyone to visualize or the ending.
Never ever try to tell anyone that shares their craft in a fandom that they owe anyone anything not paid for. Like I get the frustration, I really do but this is not the way to go about it. I continuously said on this newer blog and my old one that I would continue the fic when my interest in UTDR came back and gave the vague estimate that would be whenever new official stuff came out for it. It’s not concrete but that was my answer and it’s only changed because you’ve made me certain that I won’t be working on it in the foreseeable future, thank you for the help with the realization 🤟🏾

I think Cedric and Calamus should be friends and join the club of teenagers with way too much weight on their shoulders because holy shit they deserve good things.
I mean, one of those small details that I always felt were kind of sad was that line Cedric has about not knowing Calamus or Alula... which makes sense in a way, because it was the Author who knew them better. And yet both Cedric and Calamus feel close in age and have similar personalities I am genuinely surprised they weren't friends.
And now considering their circumstances... Both of them need to be the proactive sibling, ready to react to situations that are beyond what teens like them should be doing.
We... never get told what happened to Rachis, although context probably tells us he was one of the NPCs lost to the squares. But even if Calamus and Alula were not aware of that truth, they're both still functionally orphans, and Calamus has made it his responsibility to make sure Alula is okay because she is all he has left.
Cedric is one of the few people aware of being in a simulation, and this by itself is already really isolating. Cedric is also the one responsible for... pretty much ensuring that Niko made it to the city and fulfilled their mission, having to make up plans as he goes. Not to mention the knowledge that his father is gone for good now, and the grief that is tied to it.
And besides all of this, I just really think that these two are alike in personality. Both are really polite, hardworking and responsible. The only big differences are their sets of skills and that Cedric is more willing to take risks on the spot, while I feel like Calamus would be more cautious in his place.
But gosh they could be good friends.

HALLEJUAH!! I REMEMBERED HOW TO ACTUALLY FINISH WRITING SOMETHING FOR A CHANGE!!
Of course, it's not any of the fics I wanted to finish. I went back to what is essentially my bread-and-butter now and wrote a short-ish, random OrangeHook fluff. But considering how much writing's been a struggle as of late, I'm just glad that I successfully finished something. I was back in one of those stretches where I couldn't seem to write much of anything. And this fic isn't about their age difference or Hook being a cuddlebug, so...progress?
Unless I decide I completely hate it (which is always a possibility) expect something to drop on Valentine's Day, tis the season, after all.
#What is wrong with you Sam you should not be allowed to write#Small victories you know?#Will I ever get sick of OrangeHook?? Apparently not#Can't even remember the last time they interacted on screen but that ain't stopping my brain LOL#On a more serious note - I really do hope that I can get back into the swing of things and make some real progress#On the bigger fics I want to work on#I want to finish the messy angst OrangeHook fic at some point even if it's unlikely to appeal to anyone#Annnnnd deep down in my cold dead heart I still wanna make an honest attempt at that DG Dead Dove fic#Even though that would be even more unappealing + a huge undertaking because that bitch would be loooooooooong#Also I had a slightly less angsty OrangeHook idea recently about them having their first fight and I wanna write that too for some reason#And there's still a part of me that really wants to continue Business/Pleasure because I have soooo many ideas for that AU#But that would require me to get over my inability to write smut#And I don't know how to do that (would appreciate any advice on that if you've got some...)#But at the same time I don't wanna beat myself up for not being able to write much - if anything - most days#This is a hobby after all - it's supposed to be fun#There ain't no deadline and it's not like I'm letting anybody down#Just gotta do at my own place#And write whatever absolute trash I want to write 😈#My tags are always so obsessive like SHUT THE FUCK UP SAM#But if you've actually read all these - hey. Thanks. Love ya 😘

so ages back, i started having this idea for a boku no hero fic, which i like to call 'mon academie heroique' (and no i don't care if any of that is real french)
here's a little snippet of something i've written thus far
(featuring: copious amounts of headcanoning about aoyama's background, little a action as a treat, and me suddenly realizing like five years down the line 'wait why did deku need to save ochako at all, she could've just floated the debris away?????')
Yuuga Aoyama folded himself in half, stretching down to his toes to shake off the tension from sitting so long for the written part of the U.A. entrance exam. That part of the exam had been trés facile, but now the practical exam lay ahead of him. This part he had much less confidence about - after all, he'd been training quite hard for months now, but that was nothing compared to his peers. They'd all had their Quirks for years, and he'd only had One For All for a week. Not a good week, at that - the first time he'd tried using the Quirk, he'd felt as though his arms might have snapped clean off his body, and he'd almost broken his legs when he tried to use them for a basic jog. Luckily his parents had pulled some strings and gotten Quirk-suppression gear for him, so he could activate it without breaking every bone in his body, but this was a power he had to use sparingly, barely at all if possible.
But it was power, and it meant that he could become a hero. That was worth nearly anything.
Still, though, it would have been better if this exam didn't pit them against robots - he would have had a much better time facing off against a real person, someone whose motivations and emotions he could intuit. Many fights could be finished before a single punch was thrown, if you knew the right words and how to say them.
… Of course, Yuuga was still working on the latter part. For some reason, there was a large gap between what he meant to say and what his peers heard. Perhaps it was simply a language barrier? He was bilingual, but outside of his mother and father, his family spoke French much more extensively than Japanese. He was always more convincing in French, he felt. The Japanese, they seemed to find him offputting. It was something to work on, at least, and something to focus on after he finished this exam.
Looking around at the other hopeful students, Yuuga hid his thoughts behind a confident smile. It looked as though the last few students were getting off the bus now, so they'd probably be starting soon. He could almost see the feelings in the air around him - the rigid boy with engines in his legs acting officious to offset his anxiety, another boy with an enlarged arm rolling his shoulders calmly. One girl with green, plant-like hair seemed to be praying, and another girl nearby stared at the ground, likely giving herself a mental pep talk. So many people, all gathered together at this time and place for one reason alone - and he might never see any of them again. Only forty students could pass, after all. He might not even be one of them.
Non! Yuuga thought sharply. I cannot give up before we have even started! I know I will be a bright, shining beacon for all to follow, and this is where it begins. I will pass! I will enter U.A.!
The giant doors to the testing site opened, swinging open faster than Yuuga would've thought possible considering their size. Before the doors even finished opening, Present Mic yelled "GO!!!" over the speaker system. Yuuga felt just as confused as those around him, but with Present Mic reminding them that real life didn't have countdowns, he pushed into the false city along with everyone else, desperate to find as many robots as he could.
The one-pointers were prolific to start, and Yuuga relished the chance to test just how much he could hold back One For All while still destroying his foes. By turning it on for just one second, right at the end of a punch or kick, he was able to blow away each robot he faced without any painful consequences. He racked up seven points in less than a minute, quieting the voice in the back of his mind that still thought this would be impossible. With growing confidence, he started looking for better-valued robots.
He saw a two-pointer turning a corner just down the road from him, so he gave chase. Even without activating the Quirk, he could sprint well enough to catch up just in time to see the robot floating in the air along with several others, then all of them crashing down again. Past it, he saw a girl with brown hair running off, clutching her stomach. That little voice starting to grow louder again. He needed to do something, or else he'd fail this exam, and never become a hero shining above them all -
"Aaaaaagh!" Behind him he heard a boy's scream. Turning, another student with purple, ball-like hair bleeding from the scalp was backing away from a three-pointer. A chance! Yuuga rushed forward and jumped into a side kick, reinforcing his legs at the last moment with a half-second activation of One For All. This allowed him to crash straight through the robot's chest, destroying it utterly. A quick tuck-and-roll ensured he took no damage from landing, and he turned at the end to address his fellow test-taker. "Merci for the assist! Now, I will likely not see you again, so adieu!" After all, what were the odds of seeing another student twice in this chaotic cityscape? Better to separate from other students as much as possible in order to maximize the chances of defeating robots without interference, and it seemed unlikely the short boy could keep up with Yuuga's pace. It wouldn't do to simply run off without saying farewell, though - that would be rude and ungracious.
Matching action to word, Yuuga jogged down the road, leaving the purple haired boy behind. Above his head he heard explosions, and he looked up to see a blond boy with a wild grin on his face blasting himself through the sky above the buildings. Best not follow him, he'll take down anything and anyone in his path, Yuuga decided, and deliberately chose a pathway that would lead him away from the explosive student. This led him to a wide thoroughfare, full of other students and robots to take down. Looking over the impromptu battlefield, Yuuga realized he could use his personnel skills after all. There were plenty of students who were fighting more in self-defense than anything else, and with them to serve as distractions, he could easily score plenty of points. There was a student nearby, a boy wearing a bomber jacket fighting a three-pointer, who would do quite nicely. He was dodging his opponent's blows, but not mounting any counterattacks. Yuuga ran towards the pair and timed his blow so that the robot wouldn't collapse directly onto the other student. Turning to look, Yuuga found he had better timing than he'd planned - the other student had apparently tripped over some rubble and would have been unable to dodge the robot's attack. Comme c'est fortuit!
Yuuga offered a hand to the other boy. "If you are uninjured, there is still time to make up for this."
"Yeah, thanks," the student said as he used Yuuga's help to stand up. "I kept trying to find a weak spot, but it just moved too fast for me."
"The one-pointers are easier to face off against - perhaps focus on those, instead of wasting time fighting an opponent you cannot defeat." After all, while they were competing against each other, there was no reason he could not give friendly advice, correct? There were few one-pointers left in this area, as well - this would mean one fewer competitor for points in this area. A beneficial outcome for the both of them!
The other boy sighed. "Think you're right, I just wanted to… well, you get it. Thanks again, stay safe out there!" With that, he jogged away from the crowded thoroughfare as Yuuga had hoped he would. He was more likely to find one-pointers away somewhere else. Looking around, Yuuga sighted his next target and jumped back into the fray. He lost count of how many points he'd racked up - thirty? Forty perhaps? It was hard to tell sometimes what a robot was worth, and who would get final credit for a creature destroyed by several attacks at once. He envied those with long range abilities - if he could have chosen, he would have liked a Quirk like that. Shooting from afar was much more to his liking rather than dashing right into danger. That wasn't the choice he'd been given, though, and any Quirk was better than no Quirk at all.
After some time, Yuuga realized they must be nearing the end of the exam. That was when he heard shouts from the end of the road, and watched with everyone else as a zero-pointer turned the corner and stalked down the road towards them. As one, the crowd started running the opposite direction, Yuuga amongst them. As he ran, he passed the brown-haired girl he'd seen before get caught by debris and fall to the ground. He looked back at the zero pointer, gauging how much time before it reached her. He'd gotten enough points, right? There couldn't be much time left, but he could spare a moment to help another student. Decision made, he approached the girl. "Are you all right, mademoiselle?"
The girl panted, clearly trying to get her breath back. "Wind… knocked out…. just need a sec….."
Yuuga glanced at the rapidly approaching zero-pointer. "Pardon but you may not have that long. Your Quirk, it can float things, yes? Can you float the debris?"
"Pretty heavy… can't do that and move, I think…" She shifted around. "Gotta try, though - Plus Ultra, right?"
Yuuga nodded. "I can pull you free, but we must move quickly!" Instead of replying, the girl slapped her hands on the debris pinning her down, then pushed them up and away from her. Yuuga grabbed her arms and pulled her to her feet, pulling her along the road away from the walking natural disaster following them. He heard her mutter "Release" as she did something with her hands, and the debris crashed down loudly behind them. One hand went to her mouth and the other to her stomach, but she did her best to keep pace with Yuuga. The pair rushed as fast as they could, but Yuuga could hear the zero pointer approaching from behind, faster than they could go. For a moment, he considered leaving the girl behind to make his own escape, but he shoved that thought away quickly.
Just in time, Present Mic's voice rang out over the speakers again. "All right listeners, this exam is OVER!" At that, the zero pointer stopped chasing the pair, and they could finally collapse on some nearby rubble. Yuuga felt a deep exhaustion in every part of his body, and a warning twinge in his legs. Had he activated One For All as they tried to outrun the robot? That was terrifying to consider - if he hadn't been careful, even with the support items he could have broken both his legs and doomed himself. His whole body quivered with fatigue and residual fear. Was this what being a hero was like? In the moment, he'd only thought of how to win points and stay alive, but now he could recall the flying debris, the robot strikes that had nearly struck him, and looking around he could see students limping around with swollen ankles, bleeding from cuts across their limbs, or just lying collapsed on the ground trying to get their breath back. This was just the entrance exam - if this was what was expected of them before they even started, what would classes be like?
Yuuga's thoughts were derailed by the sound of his last-minute comrade emptying her stomach. When he looked at her, she was using a handkerchief to wipe her mouth with a matter-of-fact attitude, like this often happened to her. She noticed his look and grimaced. "When I make things float, it turns my stomach if they're too heavy. Happens if I float myself, too."
"Ah, comprends," Yuuga replied. "I also must be careful with my Quirk." He ignored the small voice saying Liar as he called One For All his Quirk. "I have these gauntlets and boots so that I don't crush my bones each time I attempt to use it."
"Whoa!" The girl reeled back. "That is way crazier than just getting a stomachache if I overdo it! Oh, I guess I should introduce myself, huh?" She held out her hand (happily, not the one she'd held her handkerchief with). "I'm Ochako Uraraka, nice to meet you!"
Yuuga took her hand and kissed it. "Enchanté. I am Yuuga Aoyama."
Ochako pulled her hand back quickly, blushing from ear to ear. "Right! Sure! Hi!" Oh right, the Japanese were so fussy about things like that. Perhaps he'd spent too much time with his French relatives during the winter holidays, or with All Might - his American mannerisms were rubbing off on him, perhaps. He'd have to remember to hold himself back in class to avoid offending any classmates. To Ochako, he apologized. "My mother's family is French, and I've spent a great deal of time with them recently, so I forget the proper greetings sometimes. Pardon."
"It's fine," Ochako said, waving her hand rapidly in front of her. She was still blushing, but she seemed calmer, at least. "I mean, you did help me get away from that robot, so you know, bygones are bygones and all that. Oh! Look!" She seemed relieved as she pointed past Yuuga. "I think that's the school nurse, right?"

Welcome back to tumblr! Hope you enjoyed your break
It was very stressful. Ended up failing the marking period for English, but not by as much as I was failing before. Could still pull up the overall grade by the end of the semester.
#started writing a fic a few days ago. been a while since ive done that.#so far felix is very out of character but he's only gonna be the focus for the first chapter. plus i might go back and rewrite him.#maybe i should wait until the new chapter comes out tho so it's relevant to updated canon#anyway echos started brainrotting about chris in a /pos way so yeah a lot of my break has been rethinking old analysis#started to notice that he's a lot more fun if i get in the mindset that he's not poorly written he's just literally isaac's antagonist#also my siblings have been hyperfixating on DC so i watched a batman series. i think they're very disappointed in me for choosing batwheels.#snowy best vehicle#. what else#oh ive been doodling a nightmare design#been liking the idea of him and dream not being skeletons but dont wanna draw/write them as their canon human designs#because (if i'm correct) they get those designs at some point later in the story. and i don't want to confuse the timeline like that.#so ive been working on concept sketches for a less human design for them. ive also noticed that them being humans in canon actually#makes a lot of sense because the other guardians don't really have any connection between their species and it can be assumed that#whatever they are exists in the universes/multiverse they're from. so it makes sense for the twins to be humans because the utmv has humans.#. but i also like how they couldn't be given the human forms at first because of the lack of holes.#so the design im working on has gill/stripe-looking vents for the energy to come out of.#also gonna try to add little fire wisps into the design because i love their true forms so much#anyway i dont think there's been more that ive done. other than schoolwork. and watching qsmp.#oh i started working on an animatic. but i do that all the time. it'll be a bigger occasion if i finish one lol.#think im gonna still keep interaction on tumblr to a smaller scale because i wanna keep getting stuff done

gonna pivot a little to something i've been thinking about. i know my own fic also has this tendency to present jenny as someone who's at odds with/constrained by her family, and i have always been of the mind that this is a rock solid aspect of her character. she is an oddball who doesn't fit in with what the rest of her family wants, and who is frustrated with herself for NOT fitting in. that's pretty consistent. but there is this tightrope line between writing that and writing a situation where her family (the only romani rep we see) becomes this nebulous presence in the background Being Terrible, and that does carry with it some complicated/unfortunate connotations.

just read your portal au, it was incredible but i was wondering when you might be posting the next chapters? im so excited to read more
hi! thank you, i’m super happy you’re enjoying it so far :)
I’m not sure when I’ll be able to post the next chapter - my writing/posting schedule generally depends on how busy i am, and (unfortunately) my semester starts soon so I’m about to have a lot more stuff to do - but I do have most of chapter 10 done at this point. I have to do some editing/restructuring, so I’ll post it once I get that done and make some more progress on the following chapter. hopefully I’ll be able to post it soon! I’ll do my best :)

Jomike rant because I can
Also because @gayspaceagebachelor I promised you my thoughts on this a while ago so here you go
Tw mention of religious trauma and maybe internalized homophobia (my Jojo is angsty what did you expect)
I put it under the cut cause boy I wrote way more than I was supposed to
They are definitely the cute/soft boy ship
Like you want happy and heartwarming vibes ? You go for them
Of course they have their hard times but to me they are the easiest ship to write pure fluff for
Bc in my opinion both of them are the absolute sweetest. Jojo is always pretty cheerful and optimistic while Mike is the kind of person who always has a smile on. Also both of their smiles are contagious so that's why
Also remember when I said they were both gay disasters but with an opposite energy let me elaborate
We all know that Jojo has been raised by nuns, right ? So I know it's like almost canon at this point but I'll say it again, he is really not comfortable with being gay
As in he was taught that it's bad, even though all his friend tell him it's not. He is fine with his friend being queer, but when it comes to himself and romance he loses all his self-confidence
So most of the time he is like so happy and cheerful because he doesn't think about it and when he actually starts thinking about it he'll most likely panic because he was taught loving guys is bad and he'll think he doesn't deserve people to love him
Okay I went a little far from the heartwarming stuff I talked about but I needed to establish that
So anyway my point was, Jojo being jojo will be pretty oblivious when it comes to love and yeah sometimes it's cute but sometimes it can get angsty
ANYWAY
Now onto Mike, I like picturing him as the guy who acts cool and flirty all the time. As in he'll always be joking/messing around and pretending to flirt with everyone, friends and strangers
Sells a lot of papes that way
"So hotshot anyone ever told you you have really pretty eyes"
"You better run."
Except our boy is actually an hopeless romantic inside so the second someone he likes flirts back he becomes completely useless. He will blush a lot, probably stutter and most likely say something stupid that he will overthink after
So um yeah they are chaotic disasters
Anyway now that's established let's get into their actual dynamic
Remember when I said one of my favorite tropes for them was mutual pinning ? I just think this one as a lot of potential because they are both pretty dumb and oblivious
Y'know the "A fell first and B fell harder trope ?" Yeah you can forget it Mike fell first and hard
One day he just looks at his best friend and realizes he is in love with him
Then he starts pinning like an absolute dumbass, at times he'll just stare into Jojo's eyes and get all flustered because he suddenly forgot how to speak
Don't wanna bring in the usual scene with one guy burrying his face in a pillow because how can I be so fucking dumb while another guy is just dying of laughter next to him but this happened at least once with Ike
Except Jojo doesn't even think much about it he'll just brush it off like it's normal
Takes a lot of time for them to stop being idiots
At first Jojo is super scared about dating so there is a lot of angst in the beginning
Meanwhile Mike will try his hardest to make Jojo understand he is loved and has the right to be happy
When Jojo starts getting more confident about it he goes back to his cheerful self. I think he would totally be the type of guy who makes flirty comments at his boyfriend all the time to mess with him
Actually it's more like Mike says something flirty to tease him -> Jojo answers something flirty because he knows exactly what he is doing -> at that point you have lost Mike he became a blushing mess
So sometimes he'll say something really cute in Spanish and Mike has no idea what it is but he understands the way Jojo said it so he gets all flustered
Jojo actually loves making Mike blush by saying he really likes him or stuff like that except at that point he is still scared of expressing his feelings out loud
Jojo is the shy/scared one so at first he is scared to hold hands in public or show any PDA in front of their friends
Also their first kiss omg-
Actually one day Mike just leaned in impulsively and brushed his lips past Jojo's but pulled away almost immediately because he got scared of how the other boy would react and he was pretty sure he had done smth stupid
They both stared at each other wide-eyed for a solid minute before actually leaning in again
Anyway it was really sweet and innocent because Mike could feel Jojo was kinda scared and inexperienced so he was very gentle
Ahem anyway-
But once again when he gains confidence he'll often try to be as close to Mike as he can
I picture them as really touchy bfs they would always be holding hands, brushing against each other's shoulder or cuddling
And when they are holding hands guess who starts blushing yeah it's Mike
He is really happy about it though because he gets to see his boyfriend happy and be the one who made him that happy
They are 100% the kind of couple who would always do romantic stuff like cute dates, looking at the stars or dancing together
Anyway think about them just grinning stupidly when they're around each other and ahjfhakjfhj
Ok I need to go but I might add to this post later with specific modern Era headcanons

quick i need another 1k words to add to discacc chapter 42 bc it is 13.7k words rn and there are 485.3k words posted so current chapter count would put me at 499k words
i dont wnt to be store price label 500k words i wanna be actual 500k words!!!!! fuck!!!!!!!!1
#speculation nation#discacc shit#but also i dont. wanna add unnecessary shit to this chapter lol. shame#so im gonna be juuuuuuust under 500k words for main fic#tho series. will be. uhh#like 520k words lmfaooooooooo#uhm. im right on the verge of officially making discacc a series and that's pretty wild#ive thought about side things for a While but this is like. actually making it a thing#i want to write akira's perspective for discacc chapter 5. aka some really depressing shit#i want to write more in depth about goro's friendship with wakaba. which would Also be painful#i wanna write a ryukita side story. for their relationship development. since they are such MESSES it's not just happening#that has In Theory been happening. i made a list of Events to be placed in vague spots through discacc timeline#referenced one of them in the last chapter so lol. that's Passively happening. and maybe i will capture it at some point#and of course the interlude fic (akira 3rd year content) and sequel fic (them as young adults)#i played with the idea of writing smth from mamakechi's perspective#but tbh im kinda exploring her role in the story a lot with chapter 42 and this side thing. so.#a lot of the tragedy exists in the unknowns about it all#goro not knowing for sure that she loved him. and oscillating between the good memories and the bad#unsure of which to cite for whether she loved him or not#and honestly there's stuff even im not sure about. purposefully left vague bc there is no need for it to be known.#that's just what happens when someone dies before you can really get to know them. goro will carry this for the entire rest of his life.#and just....................... man that's really not what this post was originally about huh#SIDE FICS i gottem. soon.
