Tenchi bridge is the worst Arc in the entire Naruto series not only is it pasted like shit the amount of continuity errors that introduces with the introduction of root as an organization and Danzo as a character and not to mention the wasted opportunity to develop NaruHina this Arc was the perfect spot to jumpstart the development during the second half of the Naruto story rather than have Hinata appear along with team 8 just to say hey these are what the characters look like now and then do fuck all of them. Let's not get started on the characterization in the writing for Sasuke,Kabuto and Orochimaru who act completely out of character and do some of the dumbest things that just don't make any sense for their characters. The long anticipation of the reunion between team seven is completely anti-climatic. There's no battle between Naruto and Sasuke Sai's arc in general is one of the few redeeming factors of this Arc. Sakura as a character regresses and becomes an even worse character than before and has never recovered since. This could have been amazing so much waste of potential with the way it handles its story the wasted opportunity of not utilizing Hinata Arc I cannot help every time I read and watch it what could have been instead of being the worst arc in all of Naruto that includes it's sequel series it could have been one of its best this Arc sucks.

Now that I've been raving about it how can it be fixed to improve it?

1 actually writing Orochimaru Kabuto and Sasuke in character.

Don't have them do things they would never do like Kabuto healing Sakura or Orochimaru saving Naruto by claiming letting him live with work with their plans when Orochimaru being the person that he is would have used any opportunity to undermine the Akatsuki. He would have tried to kill Naruto and how to keep Sasuke in character you don't have him say I'm going to kill you on a whim you have him have a fight with Naruto and then have him save Naruto instead and make the same argument Orochimaru made in the Canon story. This one fix would greatly improve the story and wouldn't have readers and watchers scratching their heads on why the fuck are they doing this?

2 actually take time to introduce new concepts and not rush through them.

My main issue with this arc is how it introduced root then again that's a post of wasted concepts in Naruto. Actually explain what their goals are show us more members of route rather than just Donzo and Sai make them actual antagonist instead of a minor inconvenience that the series forgets about until the pain Arc. Danzo being the ambitious character that he is it doesn't make any sense for him not to take advantage of the power vacuum after the death of Hiruzen possibly explain his ties to orochimaru that he assisted him in the sound invasion and someone had dirt on him. Yes we could use hindsight that it could have been Itachi that threatened him but I'm using these suggestions based on how to write the Arc at the time it was being published not hindsight in mind.

3 Sakura's character not regressing

It's no secret that this Arc is the arc that ruined Sakura's character. Any character development she had prior was flushed down the toilet. She made stupid decisions that don't make any sense for her character rushing towards Naruto dumb. As soon as Sasuke appears she acts like a Simp even more so than she did prior to meeting him again. This forever ruined her character for me because her character never progressed past this in fact she has regressed to the poorly written character that exists today. It all started with this Arc. Of course I have to get it more in depth on how I would improve Sakura's character but I'm not doing a centric post this is on a story arc in the Naruto manga.

4 Hinata on team 7 in this Arc

Having Hinata on the team in this Arc would go against it being a Forman cell adding one more person wouldn't change anything really her having the Byakugan would be a huge help. Having her on the team with you would be able to do additional world building with the Hyuga clan further explore her relationship with Naruto prior to the Pain Arc. With her on the team it would give Naruto and Hinata plenty of opportunities to interact with each other and develop their relationship earlier in the story. When Naruto goes into his four-tailed state this would be the moment where they deepen their relationship and were Hinata and Naruto's feelings for each other would further develop Naruto's especially. You can even have Hinata approach Naruto and get him to calm down. She would not be harmed because she never harbored negative feelings towards him. This would foreshadow dark Naruto later in the story. This very concept of Hinata learning about Kurama has been done in fanfiction for many years before and after Hinata's confession in the manga. The ending of the Arc could simply be Naruto and Hinata about to go out for ramen or something. This would have a domino effect for the rest of the series but that's not what this post is about.

Conclusion

This Arc is not a good Arc. It's loaded with many problems pasting issues, plot holes, characters acting out of character and wasted potential. No, I'm pretty sure there's more I could have written about how to improve the Arc. Anyway for those of you who like this Arc that's fine I just do not like it for the reasons I've listed.

Sasuke was never going to be satisfied on revenge path. First he said he wants to kill the elders and Danzo but then he said he wants to destroy Konoha as a whole. He even wanted Naruto dead to destroy all his ties to the world. His path was self-destructive and I don't understand why someone who cares about Sasuke would think it was good for him.

You mean those ‘Sasuke Protection Squad’ who screams Sasuke -The Chaos, Sasuke - The Avenger, Sasuke - The Revolutionary??? (***Meow Meow***)

When you, @dinainwater sent me this question back then, I thought those stans were being very serious about Sasuke’s character... And that’s why I just wrote an half-convinced answer but left it in my drafts. Because I wasn’t sure enough to post it. But now after being in this Fandom for sometime I totally wrote a new answer, and those stans really look like a bunch of ‘Self-Projecting Clowns’ or ‘A Real Life Sakura’ to me...

Sakura from the above panel is the exact representation of those Sasuke worshippers...

Sakura is a filtered Sasuke simp.... So are they...

Sakura assumes/decides what’s good for Sasuke just like she was cockblocking Naruto in the Above panel but ended up being hilariously wrong... So are they...

Sakura never understood Sasuke... And so are they....

They take an aspect of Sasuke which he wears as his mask and build pathetic head canon out of it while conveniently ignoring the real one he shows very often. They completely fail to see what’s going on inside him... Just like Sakura...

Let’s see how well they ‘care’ about their precious Sasuke-chan:

SASUKE - THE CHARACTER’S DUALITY

Sasuke - The Avenger:

Yes, I agree that he said this line, “I am an Avenger” multiple times inside the story and many other times about taking Revenge on Itachi....

And those stans truly believe that Sasuke is THE AVENGER and they want him to remain as such even after Chapter 698...

But what he really wanted was

“From A dream by my foolish self... Who dreamed of a future with comrades drunken with the assurance of peace...”

He just spent 5 or 6 months with Naruto... But there were so many times Sasuke set aside his Goal of Revenge in favour of his Bond... to the point of dreaming about a peaceful future. Which means he was abandoning his goals for Revenge slowly but surely. And it took Itachi, Orochimaru and Sound Four to destroy this dream...

A Real Avenger would never get distracted from their goals, no matter what happens.... Just like how Beatrix Kiddo was in Kill Bill.. But it appears that Sasuke is not a true Avenger though.

It’s no wonder that Sasuke turned quiet and chill in Chapter 699... Because that’s how he wanted to be all along and that’s his true self...

Sasuke - The Itachi Hater

Yes, Sasuke hated Itachi....

And those stans truly believe that he hated Itachi to the core and that’s why they couldn’t accept the fact that he became friendly with Itachi during the War Arc... All because Itachi hurt their Sasuke-chan by putting Tsukuyomi. And they really want to live on that ‘Sasuke could never accept Itachi’ hill forever and die on that.

But did he really hated Itachi???

This scene happens right before Sasuke gets to know the Truth... Sasuke could have dodged, evaded or ran away from this moment... He had ample time and energy to do it. But he didn’t because he simply couldn’t believe that his Brother would truly snatch his eyes and somewhere inside he trusted & loved him, atleast a little bit... Kishimoto had spent 5 whole pages for this simple scene.

This is the face of Sasuke before knowing anything about Itachi’s Truth... After all, he hated Itachi and for a very good reason... Itachi deserved to die... and he was dead. Done!!!!

But Why is he feeling so sad???? At this point of Time, Itachi was an Evil man who killed his Parents on a whim and left Sasuke alone... just to ‘measure his capacity’.... At this point he is no different from Danzo.... Shouldn’t he be keeping the face similar to how he felt while killing Danzo???

Well, He couldn’t.... No matter how much Itachi hurt him, Sasuke simply couldn’t entirely hate him...

And it’s precisely because of this love... All this Hatred for Itachi, he had tried to accumulate for 8 years even to the extent of giving his body to Orochimaru, got simply dissolved within a matter of seconds after knowing the Truth.

“That’s okay... Just as long as we can be together sometimes...”

These are all the memories he tried to repress within himself...

And that’s why Sasuke awakened his Sharingan right after Itachi was about to leave him... not even after seeing his Parents’ death.

I wish they could properly analyze Sasuke by asking themselves, ‘Why Sasuke loved his Brother so much despite everything that had happened between them..?”.. The Answer lies in the Part 1 Flashback... And then they can protect their beloved Sasuke-kun by Meow Meowing Self-Projecting...

It’s no wonder Sasuke was revering Itachi’s name even in Chapter 698 & 699.

Sasuke - The Uchiha Clan Justice Warrior

Yes, I really thought he was planning to destroy Konoha in order to bring Justice to his Clan.

There are totally 3 panels where he talked about reviving his Clan... Out of which only 2 panels had the mention of his parents. So far so good.

And all those Sasuke cultists started to worship him because he was going to destroy the Old & Rotten system that wiped out his clan...

[[Point to note: Sasuke doesn’t even know anything about Village System, Clan or Shinobis at this point... He was simply doing it for himself and himself alone... But somehow they bring this Sasuke - The Change bringer persona right after knowing the truth... I wonder, Changing a System means fighting for other people, isn’t it??? ]]

What was Sasuke’s motives behind his plan to destroy Konoha anyway??? Was it to bring Justice to his Clan or Was it to bring change the ‘System’ or was it for something else???

They all think that Sasuke was doing this to resurrect his clan...

But countless panels proves us otherwise...

PROOF 1:

Sasuke vowing Itachi that he will kill the person who helped Itachi to massacre the Clan...

But after knowing the Truth about Itachi...

He was seen loafing around with that same person who framed Uchiha Clan during the Kyuubi Incident (a fact which Sasuke knew but conveniently ignored)... Shouldn’t Sasuke try to kill him first????

PROOF 2:

“They are all laughing it up... At the cost of Itachi’s Life”

Why is he mentioning ‘Itachi’s Life’ this many times???? After all, he is a murderer who slaughtered his Clan... Isn’t he???

Shouldn’t Sasuke be just screaming his Parents or his Clan’s name???

PROOF 3:

Sasuke here acknowledging the fact that... “It’s because you are my older brother you feel the need to put me on the right path...”... So, he knew Itachi was trying to put him in the Right path and he was treading on the wrong path????

How can he call a person who killed his own parents as Perfect???

And why is he not asking, “Why did you kill our parents or why did you betray our clan??”... instead, “You were supposed to kill me along with our parents...”

And this is Sasuke willingly ignoring his Clan members’ eyes which was stolen by Obito, the man who was majorly responsible for the demise of his clan. Shouldn’t he be slaughtering Obito just like how he killed Danzo???

And you are telling me he is doing all these for his clan???

I am Sorry... All these panels proves that Sasuke knew what he is doing was Wrong... And he knew his Clan was also Wrong atleast to some extent and what’s worse???... He just joined Obito and blatantly ignored the mountain of Sharingan stocks that has been piled up after the massacre... There is no mention from Sasuke about his clan being right in any of the above panels...

I am Sorry... All these panels proves that Sasuke knew what he is doing was Wrong... And he knew his Clan was also Wrong atleast to some extent... And yet he is doing it... There is no mention from Sasuke about his clan being right in any of these panels...

This is not how A Uchiha Clan Justice Warrior should supposed to behave....

After all, Sasuke was doing all these for his Brother... Because the Village used Itachi, made him suffer a lot of Pain and branded him as a traitor. Sasuke simply couldn’t tolerate his important person was used like a tool and threw away just like that.

One more time, his rabid stans took Sasuke’s words about ‘Revival of Uchiha Clan’ on it’s face value and ended up blaming the Author when it didn’t comply with their Headcanons... While totally ignoring Sasuke’s feelings which was repeatedly conveyed through all the above panels.

It’s no wonder, he ended up not wearing his clan colours. Because he understood the mistakes from his clan’s side and truly became a part of a Whole.

Sasuke - The Konoha Hater/Destroyer

Sasuke had every reason to hate Konoha... And his wish to destroy Konoha was understandable and yet very wrong. He even openly proclaimed this statement for about 5 or 6 times.

But did he completely hate Konoha????

PROOF 1:

Sasuke already felt a sense of belonging to this village...

And that’s why he ended up dreaming about having a peaceful life over there.

And that’s why he was asking, “What are you bastards doing in our Village?”

And that’s why he was reconfirming his resolve whether to destroy the village or not... Because that’s his Hometown.

PROOF 2:

Sasuke already heard the truth from Obito. And he believed it.... Which also cleared up the ill-feelings he had on his Brother and then he decided to destroy Konoha. Simple.

But why is he verifying the Truth again and again??? Obito gave him all the reason to hate & destroy Konoha... But why is he verifying the reason??? Especially why is he verifying it with Hiruzen even after seeing the truth from Itachi’s Memories???

PROOF 3:

The moment he heard about Madara’s Edo Tensei wasn’t released... Sasuke pulled off this shocking reaction and thought back to what Itachi and Shisui felt about Konoha...

Why does he care about Konoha, anyway??? He wanted to destroy it after all... That’s not a reaction a Konoha Hater should give off...

This clearly shows... Sasuke was still looking for a strong reason to destroy it by verifying it again and again... Which means he is not really willing to destroy it because he couldn’t completely hate it. He has doubts. He was hesitating.

The reason he couldn’t completely hate Konoha is because that’s where he had his best moments with Itachi & Naruto especially. And that’s why he felt a sense of belonging to that Village even during his Genin Days.

And it’s also not a surprise that he decided to protect Konoha after realizing how Obito bastardized the Uchiha clan’s history in his flashback which I explained in this post... [Link]

I am not saying that he would have never destroyed Konoha... I am only saying that unlike Obito and Madara who did it just on whim... Sasuke has his own internal hesitation to completely hate that place. That’s all.

I never intended to write this post in this way... But I see a familiar pattern in all the above 4 Sections... That is, Initially, Sasuke was confidently saying something... But ended up reacting in a different way.

Sasuke - The Revolutionary

Let’s all just assume... Sasuke’s revolution plan will indeed workout very well for the Shinobi World.... [[Uhh... No... It’s a bad plan anyway... That plan is very similar to Danzo’s ideals]]

How will it help Sasuke???? Could he able to keep going on that Dark & Lonely path???

SASUKE, AGE 8:

This is Sasuke who was seen over training himself to the point of harming himself. He didn’t have any Goal at that age other than getting the Acknowledgement from his father... Just to reach that Goal... He was wounding his body.

SASUKE, AGE 13:

This is Sasuke who was ready to give his body to Orochimaru in order to take revenge on Itachi, to gain greater power. As you can see in the bottom left panel, where Sasuke was feeling a stinging sensation whenever he was seen releasing the Cursed Seal.

He left his Home, Friends and going towards this Dark path to achieve his Goal at the expense of enduring severe Physical and Mental Pain.

SASUKE, AGE 16:

“Every cell in my body is on fire... I couldn’t even get it to fully materialize... And my whole body is burning with pain...”

This is when Sasuke created that big ruckus in Kage Summit while evolving his Susanoo. He clearly feels immense pain in every cell of his body and yet he was willing to push forward in order to achieve his Goal of Killing Danzo...

Now, how could this Revolution plan alone would work out well for Sasuke??? He is always that self-destructive person who would like to hurt himself if that would make him reach his Goal...

And they are saying, ‘You don’t care about Sasuke... because you support Naruto, Itachi”.... I was like, “Oh, You think you really care?”

And regarding that Revolution Plan....

Naruto is clearly asking a logical question as to, “Do you think everyone would just go ‘Yeah!’?”

To which Sasuke answers, “I don’t care what you guys think of me... And I now have the power to do things my way.”

Well, That’s the kind of answer you would expect from Sasuke... So, it’s not surprising...

But did he really not care about what other people think of him????

Really???

Seriously????

Then what about this???

“Well, Even if it sits well with you... What about the rest??”

Then why is he asking what other people would think of him, here??? So, he knew his plan was not feasible, unhealthy and would not be accepted by many people.... But still he want to do it...

Again, Sasuke arrogantly claims that he would do something... In this case, ‘Revolution’..... Even though he knew what he was doing was Wrong...

Now, there are some faction of Sasuke stannies says that, “Editors forced Kishimoto to write Sasuke to submit to Naruto because it’s Shounen... Otherwise he would’ve made Sasuke to change the System”

I am Sorry, What???

If the Author was forced to write something different for Sasuke, how come Sasuke’s character was consistent from Chapter 3 to Chapter 700???

I’ve written 5 sections so far, In all those sections Sasuke says one thing and he does something else... If Kishi was forced by the Editors, then shouldn’t this section be hilariously different???

And his stans want him to go for this stupid plan... all because... their Great Sasuke-Chan said that he could do it. And they hate Naruto for stopping him... Oh Sorry... It’s called Beating Sasuke into Submission.

And that leads to my last section..

Sasuke - The Naruto Hater

LOLOLOL... Those Sasuke stannies desperately tries everything they could to convince people about how Naruto was bad for Sasuke.

Am not going to make a lengthy analysis for this section.. Because my Blog title is called Sasuke loves Naruto... This blog speaks for itself. However I am just going to attach a single panel.

Here Sasuke is giving a reason about why he offered lunch to Naruto... If he truly hated him, he doesn’t have to do this at all... Just before this scene he said he is the Avenger in front of Sakura... Well, where is that Avenger now????

Plus, In this post, [Link], I wrote about all those instances where Sasuke always does something for Naruto and comes up with a logical reasoning later…. To further consolidate this, I’ve written another post, [Link], about the number of times Sasuke tried to kill Naruto but ended up not doing it.

Meaning, Sasuke always declares something out loud... But he ends up doing something else. Which clearly means that his mind and body acts separately most of the time. And is it surprising that he said ‘My Body moved on it’s own’ to protect Naruto???

I’ve written 6 sections so far... In all those 6 sections Sasuke projects himself with such a Confidence or Arrogance and says something.... but what he really wanted was totally opposite of what he says.

Sasuke - The Avenger really wanted to live in peace alongside Naruto.

Sasuke - The Itachi Hater loved his Brother all along... He tried so much to hate him but he couldn’t keep his facade when the moment comes...

Sasuke - The Uchiha Clan Justice Warrior wanted to take revenge on Konoha.., Not to get justice for his clan... But for the extreme suffering his beloved brother was put through...

Sasuke - The Konoha Hater was desperately finding one good reason from not destroying it. Because he left that place with a heavy heart which signifies his sense of belonging he had with his home.

Sasuke - The Revolutionary could never tolerate the pain he was inflicting upon himself.

Sasuke - The ‘I don’t care about anyone’ Person cares about other’s opinion.

Sasuke - The Naruto Hater never hated Naruto. Not even once.

Like I said before, Sasuke puts on a brave & confident face and claims that he would do XXX... But he always ended up not doing it or May I say he simply can’t able to do it???

And do you know why he can’t able to do what he says???

“Those who are not able to recognize who they really are will Fail...”

“First... You should have acknowledged yourself... That way you wouldn’t have had to tell lies... Not even to yourself.. Like I did...”

Sasuke couldn’t able to do what he says for most of the time... Because he was trying to become something he was not... He wanted to become the Avenger who doesn’t want to have any bonds with anyone... When in reality, his true self never wanted to pursue revenge and want to be bonded with Naruto....

Sasuke’s journey was all about fighting between this duality and finding his true self in Chapter 698.

To further support this, I’ve written another post, [Link] about Sasuke’s arrogance... where he poses himself as this proud & arrogant Uchiha Ninja in front of Lee & Orochimaru... But deep down he knows that he needs to get stronger and respect their abilities very well...

I’ve never imagined that some of my previous posts would come together and makes sense coherently in a single post. And If that’s not enough, then Sasuke’s 2 most beloved people also says the same thing...

Version 1

This is Sasuke claiming that he is stronger than Itachi and that he will kill him... To which Itachi was saying, “Confident, Aren’t you??”...

And we all know how that ended up as...

In the End, HE COULDN’T KILL HIM.... Itachi died on his own.

Version 2

Once again, Sasuke was boldly claiming that he wanted to destroy Konoha... And Itachi was remarking, ”Your confidence when you talk has not changed”...

And Sasuke ended up not destroying the Village after all...

Version 3

Naruto was very sure that Sasuke would never stand against him anymore... Because Naruto clearly knows that Sasuke always says something and ended up doing the opposite of it... Remember VoTE1??? He said, he would kill Naruto and we all know how that ended up as... Which is why he was calling him as, “You were always pretty exceptionally stupid”

Somehow his stans think that Naruto, Itachi and Kishimoto don’t care about Sasuke... But they think that they care more about Sasuke... What a joke!!!!

So, to conclude this post,

Sasuke stans takes everything Sasuke says out loud on it’s face value but they never bother to analyze what Sasuke really wanted.

THIS IS NOT THE TRUE SASUKE!!!! AT ALL!!!! This is something he pose himself to become so badly.... Those stans eat these panels up as his real persona and worship him....

Whereas this is the Real Sasuke that he lost in his character Journey and found back in Chapter 698!!!!!

Please don’t think that I am making this into SNS... These are all the moments where Sasuke was just being Honest by expressing his true self... And it just happened to be around Naruto & Itachi, that’s all.

This shows that they clearly don’t understand entirely about this Character but always blame other people for not caring about this character including Kishimoto... And that’s why those stans go on and on about Anti-Konoha, Anti-Naruto, Anti-Itachi, Anti-Kishimoto... And what-not???

Oh by the way, If by any chance that Uchiha Clan Massacre was revealed, it would make Sasuke’s life, a living hell... But I see all those stannies want it to be revealed... Because they really CARE about their precious Sasuke-chan....

Again, Am not saying that you have to like what Sasuke loves.... You all have every right to hate whoever you want... My point is Instead of projecting yourself by going on ‘Sasuke never loved XXX’ when in reality he never really hated XXX..... ‘Acknowledge the fact that ‘Your Favourite Character’ liked/loved/forgave someone’.... This is called Understanding the Character you truly loved... Please don’t come and scream in the notes that ‘I can hate whoever I want’ .... Well, I can also write whatever I want IN MY BLOG by producing valid panels to support my point....

Which is basically the entire series.... That’s because they truly don’t try to understand what Sasuke really wanted...

Again, the purpose of this post is not to Gatekeep people by saying ‘If you hate this XXX character... You truly don’t love this YYY character’.... No.... I am not saying that... Hate Konoha or Itachi or Naruto for all I care....

All I am saying is to... Acknowledge the fact that Sasuke loved Itachi... Sasuke loved Naruto... Sasuke never completely hated Konoha even after knowing the truth... Sasuke was doing all these for Itachi...

If you don’t Acknowledge it.... Yes... I would say, “You didn’t understand the character at all...”

Let me add more salt to the injury,

Sasuke simps stannies are fretting over the fact that “Sasuke didn’t get his Revenge” even though he don’t want it... But Given a chance, those stans would definitely brainwash him and will promise to help him get his revenge... Just like this ‘certain’ other character...

“I’ll even help you with your revenge...”

How are they any different from Sakura, I wonder????

And that’s why they are called Real Life Sakura.

Exhausted and scared of him disappearing I gripped him to me and laid my head on his chest as we laid on the lush grass under the tree. My eyes began to heavily droop and I knew it was his doing, through the Tsukuyomi. I gripped him harder, I didn’t want him to disappear. “Itachi, please, I love you” I begged, fighting against the forced sleep that threatened to overtake me.

“y/n, I have always and will always love you,” were the last words I heard him speak before I drifted off into a peaceful sleep.

“So you did know her.” Kisame’s voice reached him, coming out from behind the tree as Itachi finished bandaging you wound. Itachi remained silent. “You didn’t kill her and you’re bandaging her wound…must have been someone pretty special.”

Itachi remained silent for a moment, examining your peaceful face as he had sent you into a deep slumber before releasing the tsukyomi. “Just an old acquaintance, nothing more, she deserves at least this from me.”

Kisame sighed, hauling samehade over his shoulder, “Out of all the rogue ninja, I had to get stuck with the one who still has feelings for his ex-girlfriend.”

Itachi ignored Kisame and examined your face one last time, the sharingan swirling slowly. “Let’s go,” he said turning to Kisame.

“whatever you say boss.”

I lifted heavily lidded eyes open just a crack, still fighting the drowsy state of mind to see the softly billowing cloaks of the red clouds contrasting against the silhouette of the morning sky. My eyes slowly drifted closed once more, fading back to the memory of the blissful Tsukuyomi.
