And sometimes I get busy. Sometimes, I just want to do different things. Sometimes, I'm just too tired, moody, sick, or whatever reason. You can ask what's up when in doubt, though. It's fine. I'm just saying that I have a life, my preferences, and that I need my rest.

— Talk OOC, plot stuff, discuss dynamics between our muses, etc. I may fill in interest checkers but I personally prefer to work through messages. Interest checkers don't really work for me on my canons so I no longer do that. I value good OOC communication. This is how you get things done with me.

— If there is a problem, talk it out. Let's acknowledge that we're human and being humans means that we're flawed and we all can have our bad days; I want to keep my mind open and hear you out.

— Give attention, show some excitement; I gravitate to those who seem most interested & express it. Don't worry about ♥/reblog-spam lol, I don't mind. I like the attention.

— Come up with ideas. Talk about our muses & world-building. You could never ever bother me with genuine interest & passion. Passionate writers are admirable.

— If you struggle with coming up with ideas: Ask! I will not mind if you ask, because that indicates that you're interested! Which is a good thing. I'll gladly brainstorm for you.

This blog is low activity, mutuals only, and highly selective. Mun works full time and is also in school, so time for replies is limited and I tend to  follow my sporadic muse wherever it goes when present. I am (regrettably) NOT a good match if you’re looking for fast replies, replies “in order” of things received, or if hyperfocusing / a preference for affiliate interactions will upset you. (These are the people I chat with the most OOC. When my time and muse is limited, they are often the interactions I focus on because these are the muns  I’m most comfortable writing with & replies tend to come a little easier. SHIPPING:

This blog is multiship, but does feature a MAIN SHIP with @ climatact's Nami. All ships will take place in their own verses, but unless otherwise stated (or we're shipping & writing in our own verse), Law's relationship with Bunny's Nami is considered CANON to my Main/Unspecified Verse interactions. It may not feature in every thread and I don't expect anyone else to acknowledge or play into it (although you're more than welcome to if you wanna!), but as a general rule, if we've made no shipping arrangements and no verse is specified for a given interaction, it's to be assumed that interactions are taking place in a verse where they're a thing or will eventually become one.

Shipping is selective and requires a good mun connection (including ooc interactions) as well as muse chemistry. All ships MUST be discussed and agreed upon by both parties beforehand. Even if you write a muse I'm known to ship Law with, please DO NOT assume I'll automatically assume our muses are in a ship. Likewise, I won’t do this to you, either.

Ship Biases & Intrigue: I have ship biases for Law x Robin, Law x Nami, and Law x Zoro, and am intrigued by Law x Ace and Law x Sabo. This list is not exclusive: so long as it's not on my "WILL NOT" ship list, I'm happy to discuss the potential for others, or bounce thoughts to see if it's one I'd be interested in.

Ship WILL NOTs: I will not ship Law with any of the Heart pirates, either Donquixote brother, or Luffy. (I don't mind that people ship LawLu, it's just not one I myself am interested in exploring beyond a platonic nature.)

My Law is demisexual and demiromantic. He's far more focused on his ambitions than he is on relationships or physical pleasure; do not expect an extensive history of past lovers/experience or for any intimacy to take place without some semblance of feelings involved.

I stay up to date on current manga events, but will admit my grasp on New World lore is a little lacking since I speed read the entire manga over two months last year after being MIA from the fandom for 15+ years. I'm slowly making my way back through it (rereading with @ climatact, currently on ch. 339), but may be slow and need to research certain arcs or events. I can't really elaborate more than hes just built a little different in this au lol, he's able to heal really fast, heal other people with his blood, and he tastes good!!! Shadows suspects this is a result of his weird alien DNA blood , and every day hes tilted about it.

But something I don't think I've mentioned yet is that his blood has healing properties because it was intended to be transferred into Maria! She was born a very weak and ill girl so Gerald completely changed course with project shadow and turn him from a weapon to a cure for her.

I really thought more people would notice it, but it's GUN lol. GUN hates vampires, and even more specifically Sonic bc he's a little bastard vampire shithead that doesn't like obeying them. So Shadows and GUNs objectives line up enough for shadow to work with them for a period of time.

And shadow wants to kill vampires because haha, they fucking killed Maria (and everyone on the ark, including Gerald) and sent him to angel Island. So, yunno he kinda has a bad taste in his mouth because of that. He's got even more of a grudge towards eggman because his relations to the rest of the robotnik family. So he wants to Extra Kill him.

And no the like spams dont bother me at all /gen!!!!! I really enjoy them!!!

I also read KotLC, riordanverse (I've read 1-14 of chb chronicles and most of 15 and obv not Chalice yet, 1-2 Kane Chronicles, 1-3 mcga, and none of the spinoffs so far. @darkness-befriended​ LOL. Welcome to TL;DR LAND aka my tumblr. Honestly, I think “tumblr etiquette” is very much in favor of burying things in comments.

A lot of tumblr etiquette is all about being self-effacing and ephemeral. It’s somewhere between tall poppy syndrome and thinking that our content is inconsequential.

And I do get the impulse to hide in tag commentary and comments. The problem is that tumblr is a cesspit of bad coding and dumb site design. Reblogs each have an actual URL. You can tell which reblog someone else’s reblog is responding to because it’s right there in their post. With xkit, it’s easy to force a real timestamp onto these posts, no matter what kind of dumb blog theme the person has. You can also link to multiple URLs that are different parts of the conversation, whether that’s in a tumblr post where you’re responding to two threads at once or in a Fanlore article where you want to cite some fan’s words.

Comments aren’t attached to the specific part of the reblog chain they’re on. You can kind of tell by seeing where they fall, but that’s only visible in the mobile app or in some online views. It’s not easy to immediately see. Sometimes, you think someone was going “LOL no” to the OP when they were really responding to a “OP is wrong!” reblog or vice versa. No bueno.

(My personal objection is largely that I always manage to try to type a comment in the app and then click away somehow, deleting the whole thing by accident. Gaaaah! With a reblog, this happens to me less. Also, the reblog button is easier for me to find on the web interface.)

According to a lot of oldschool LJ people, Tumblr “killed meta” or at least meta discussion. One used to be able to have these elaborate comment threads on a LJ meta post. Often the comment essays had more content than the original post. That’s “impossible” on tumblr--or so say those people.

Personally, I found that intense meta discussion was perfectly easy on tumblr once I gave up caring if I spammed other people’s dashes with 500 versions of the same long-ass post.

I rarely use a readmore on tumblr because tumblr’s broken site design means that content is often hidden and unreachable. If the OP deletes, the rest of it is in reblogs, but not the readmore part. If the OP gets zapped by tumblr and marked nsfw, their blog only opens in that sidebar view thing, and you can’t click the readmore. I guess it’s still viewable in the phone app in that latter case...? But still: SUPER BROKEN.

So I’m spammy now. And I have great discussions now. And I have like 40x more followers now, even though tumblr overall is less active. Sweet, sweet validation!

DW does still have a better format for this kind of thing, but Tumblr isn’t any worse than an old email mailing list, and fandom made those work for years.

So what I learned was: Fuck tumblr etiquette!

I try to be nice to people; I’m not against that kind of etiquette. But a lot of received wisdom about how “tumblr fandom” operates is unhelpful. If this is the crappy interface we’ve chosen to hang out on, we should use its features in whatever way helps us have the fandom discussions we want to have. It’s not like there was ever only one standard for how to use tumblr anyway.

An ask blog needs asks to generate content but can't do that without asks... so how would a new (or recently revived) ask blog get the people's attention?

Oh, oh, yes! Advice time! :D I’ve been in the ask community for a little while now, so here are some things I’ve gathered over time for when you’re getting started (I’ll be assuming yours is a Pokémon ask blog, since you’re asking this to one).

Keep in mind this is long af and a bit detailed (though it’s only the first part that is long). If you’re interested in a in-detail guide, click ‘read more’ (which I would be very thankful for, I wrote all this shit for you after all, fam).

Here’s a little summarized version as a TL;DR for everyone else:

#1: keep your blog clean. If it’s about Pokémon, it’s about Pokémon; if it’s about Sonic, it’s about Sonic; if it’s about trees, it’s about goddamn trees, so no rebloging random puppy pictures or funny videos here, leave that for your personal blog, not your ask blog. Also try to keep all the out of character crap to a minimum.

#2: Have reference pages for your characters available. That’s actually a minimum requirement. An ask hints page would be useful too, but that’s optional.

#3: Have a tagging system to make everything easier to navigate.

#4 [OPTIONAL]: Give your blog a theme. Make it pretty, make it yours, and for the love of God, deactivate the god damn infinite scrolling.

#5: Tags are your friends. Tag your first post with “signal boost”, “first post”, and/or “intro post”. Tag every Pokémon that appears in your posts, including that one barely visible Caterpie in the background. Tag all your posts as “Pokémon ask blog” or “Pokeaskblog”. Tag. Tag everything. Tags are your friends if you want to be seen. Tags. Tags are. Your. Friends.

#6: Interact with other blogs. Like crazy. You are sure to be noticed when you’re freaking everywhere. Don’t forget to be nice tho. And don’t bully or harass people, for fuck’s sake.

#7: Take a chair, sit over there, get comfortable and be Patient. Like really freaking patient. Wait for months if necessary, but asks will come eventually.

#8: Have fun. That’s the whole point. Talk to people, make some shitposts, engage in silliness, and draw those magical pocket monsters that can shoot lasers out of their asses and we all love. It’s fun.

And that’s it. There’s not much else I can say, so I hope this is helpful! :D

Here’s the detailed thing:

Step #1: Organize your blog

It doesn’t seem like something that important, but believe me, it really is. Nothing turns me away from a blog faster than it being messy af and full of random, unrelated stuff. In order to keep your blog all tidy and pretty you can:

a) Refrain from reblogging anything unrelated. (If your blog is a sideblog, skip this one): You can reblog that video of that one adorable otter in your personal blog, but if your ask blog is about, say, Pokémon, don’t reblog anything that isn’t Pokémon related. If you want to go even further than that, only reblog things that are directly related to your blog, like mentions, fanart, or rp responses, instead of some random Squirtle GIF.

b) Have info pages/references of your characters available: By this I mean having specific pages containing information about your characters, including a visual reference, if possible. Reference pages are very important, since they allow people to quickly get to know a character and make interaction easier. They can contain information as simple and basic as their name, species, moves, etc. to more elaborated things, like occupation (if they have one), personality, or a brief summary of their past story/origin (unless you want that to be revealed as the story progresses in your blog or through an ask).

      b.2) Having an “ask hints” helps a lot when trying to receive asks, since it’ll help people who want to interact but aren’t sure of what they should ask. You can have general hints or individual hints for all the characters.

c) Have a tagging system: Having your posts clearly labeled makes it a lot easier for anyone who wanters through your blog to find the specific content they’re looking for. Here are three basic tags that make your blog easier to look through:

#OOC: “out of character”, for everything happening, well, out of character. Maybe an announcement, a shitpost, a question directed a the mod, etc. Try to keep ooc things to a minimum.

#IC: “In character”, exactly what it says on the tin. Use this for answered asks towards the characters, plot posts, rp interactions and responses, ect.

#[Character’ name]: Tag the characters that appear in a post, for anyone who wants to look through asks with one specific character in them.

Tags help a lot for getting your blog noticed. We will talk more about this ahead.

d) [OPTIONAL] Have a nice theme: This isn’t obligatory, but giving your blog a theme will make it look better and more ‘professional’. Here are some blogs that give really good, free themes/codes for Tumblr:

These are just some, but there are many, many others out there. Look for a theme that fits your tastes or your blog’s atmosphere, and customize it! You can even use this blog’s theme! However, make sure to not use overly saturated colors that make it painful to look at, it- kind of defeats the point. You can Google ‘color palletes’ if you need help with that.

NOTE: If you don’t know how to install a Tumblr theme, >here’s a simple tutorial

NOTE#2: Sometimes Tumblr might not let you install a specific theme and shows you an error message that says that it can’t be installed because it is “making a reference to non- https directions” or something like that, which didn’t use to happen before. >Here’s a tutorial on how to fix it, it’s quite simple, actually.

NOTE#3: For an ask/rp blog, I recommend a theme with one column, and that shows tags and captions, like the one in this blog.

Step #2: Tags help you to be found

Be sure to use tags in your favor. Here are some things that have helped me a lot:

a) If you’re starting a Pokémon blog, tag every Pokémon that appears in your posts; that way, people looking through the tag of that specific Pokémon will be able to see your posts.

b) Again, if it’s a Pokémon blog, tag your posts as “Pokémon ask blog” or “Pokeaskblog” (or both), people looking for pokeaskblogs to follow usually look though these tags regularly.

c) Tag your first post/posts or intro as “Signal boost” and “First post”. There are blogs in the Pokémon community that look for posts tagged like this and reblog them to give them a ‘boost’, which helps a lot when you want to be seen. I’m not sure how many of these are still active, though, but you won’t lose anything from trying.

Step #3: Interact with other blogs like a madman

Send lots of asks! Interact with other blogs! Follow even more blogs! Send fanart and nice messages! Reblog/Like those posts of people looking for new blogs to follow! Some people will find you through someone else’s answered ask, some people will notice you’re following and will check you out, some people will see you in a like or a reblog, and overall there are higher chances of being seen when you are everywhere and interact with everyone (also, it’s really fun to just interact with other nice people over here).

Just make sure to be nice.

Step #4: Be patient. P a t i e n t. I’m serious.

If you think you’ll get lots of followers in a matter of a couple days then start forgetting about it. It took me two weeks to get my first ask at asktheweirdpichu, and a week and a half to get one here. And they were both spam. I cried. Two years later (holy heck has it really been that long?) I’ve got so many asks accumulated that I’m starting to think I should just fake my death and end my suffering (I’m joking, I love every single ask I get and get excited every time I get a new one).

It will take a while, but you’ll see that after enough time you’ll get noticed more and more, so don’t give up, you’ll get there.

Step #5: Don’t forget to have fun.

Make some friends, have some silly interactions, make some shitposts at 3 am, draw someone’s character and watch them shoot effusive love at you, enjoy your favorite blogs. That’s what all this is about.

Jon is new to this thinking thing. I am a firm believer in Pol!Jon and that it was not something he planned going into DS. Circumstances forced him into it. He's making it up as he goes along. Why is it so hard to understand that in doing so he hasn't thought beyond the initial threat, the WW? No exit strategy is actually part of some theories. It's certainly not proof that this theory falls apart. Just because he SHOULD have thought of one doesn't mean he does.

1) Jon had no reason to feel “forced”.

2) The thoughts you believe him having for feeling “forced” would also make him not want to piss Dany off because as there’s no exit strategy.

3) I already told you HERE that just because you say Jon doesn’t need an exit, doesn’t make it a valid argument. So stop saying it like it proves your point. It doesn’t.

Let me give you an example of this argument in neutral, non-GOT terms:

A man’s family is starving. He has no money. The situation is so dire that if he doesn’t get food by tomorrow, he believes his family will die (though he’s no doctor and doesn’t know how long his family can actually last without food, he’s just guesstimating). His family is weak. He’s the only one strong enough to save them. He decides to rob a bank to get money to buy food.

Your argument translated into this context is, “well, the family NEEDS the money to buy food, it’s a dire situation, of course the man doesn’t have time to think about the consequences of robbing a bank!

However, the man knows the consequences of robbing a bank. Everyone knows that if you get caught robbing a bank, you get thrown in jail, if not gunned down if you’re wielding a weapon also. You don’t need to think about the consequences of getting caught robbing a bank to figure out what they might be. YOU JUST KNOW. It’s basically fact.

Also, if the man has time to make this elaborate plan of robbing a bank, he sure as hell had time to think about other possibilities as well, ones that wouldn’t get him put in jail and take away the only hope his family has.

To argue the man doesn’t have time to think about consequences we all know as common knowledge and to say the man had no other options is utter nonsense.

Jon is the man with the starving family, starvation being the Night King and Army of the Dead, the money to buy the food being Dany’s armies and dragons, and the plan to rob a bank to get money is Jon politically and sexually manipulating Dany to get her resources. And the very reasons Jon would think to rob the bank (he’s the only one in his family strong enough, his family will die otherwise) - he believes if he doesn’t have extra “insurance” Dany might leave, she might take out her anger on the Northerners - are the very reasons he shouldn’t rob the bank/betray Dany (he knows he’ll go to jail when his family really needs him) - Daenerys will extract her revenge on him if he betrays her.

THIS is why Political Jon without an exit strategy falls apart.

Again, they’re on the boat, they’ve got the wight, Cersei has already granted them an audience to show it to her, with the exception of Viserion’s death, everything is going according to the plan they put in place on Dragonstone in 7x05. So why would Jon suddenly feel trapped if everything is going according to plan AND now Daenerys has reiterated that she wants to help??

Or if he was feeling “trapped” and desperate before the wight hunt, why bend the knee in this specific moment? Why not wait until Cersei potentially failed to agree to a truce? Or if Dany decided later on she didn’t want to march north? Or once Cersei’s plot has been revealed? Or before the wight hunt?

There are a dozen moments when it would have been MORE appropriate for Jon to bend the knee to Dany, more opportune moments for him.

Again, we all know what happens when you get caught robbing a bank. Jon knows what happens to those who take up arms against Daenerys or betray her. He doesn’t need to consider this. He already knows. He knows the endgame of what will happen when his alleged plot is discovered. Yet he did it anyway at a moment when it was unnecessary.

Either Jon has a death wish for him and his people, or he fully intends to keep his word to Dany and went to her bed of his own free will uninfluenced by politics and military strategy.

Now please, if all you’ve got is “Jon doesn’t need to think about an exit,” then leave me alone because it’s not a valid argument. You’re the one who’s avoiding the original argument by saying “Well Jon doesn’t need to think about it” and not even addressing HOW Political Jon falls apart once we get to how it will end - the “exit strategy.”

i think it's admirable that you concern yourself with the feelings of others as deeply as you do. i guess i just find it doubtful that the feeling here could be much stronger than "damn, bummer that that didn't go how i thought it would." i mean, i've had that disappointment, and it's not a great feeling when you're young and looking to see yourself reflected in the things you love, but i think it's natural to experience disappointments on occasion. we can't all live nearly twenty-one years in the world with very little to distress or vex us, after all. and if the disappointment prompts one to research things for oneself rather than make assumptions based on a tumblr post, i think it's all the better.

tbh i have some complicated feelings about our value for representation, which i won't bore you with here. in any case, i don't believe i've ever pretended that emma is anywhere near providing actual lgbt representation, and i honestly don't think that the gifset does much more to suggest it.

tl;dr while i acknowledge it to be possible that people are misled by the gifset, and i have some sympathy for the hurt that may result, i don't hold op as particularly blame-worthy

Opinions on the internet.

Well, I finally posted my MLP Movie review last week. Feels good that I finished it, I love putting my opinions on all kinds of media here on Tumblr. It’s a great way to start a conversation with all of you guys. Even if you guys don’t like something that I like, that’s fine. We get to talk about our likes and dislikes, having a connection with each other, keeping the conversations fun.

But then there are certain people online that think that just because a person has a different opinion than them, then that different opinionated person is wrong. I am not attacking anyone just because they didn’t like a certain movie, I respect people’s opinions on anything whether I like that thing or not. 

But on my recent MLP movie review post, I received some “splendid” comments. By the way that word “Splendid” was sarcastic, just a joke. 

If you want to read these comments, then go over to my review on my page, and see the comments for yourself. But I might tell you almost all of them, so stay put.

I would receive comments for people like, “He just wants attention, I mean why else would he reblog his own post numerous times? In short, he wants to spam his followers with a challenge.” And I’ll also get comments like, “Your review became crap when you began to miss the point and then compared it to THE EMOJI MOVIE...” And there’s a few more comments, but you guys can find them on that post.

So, the comments that I show you all, it’s not a discussion between people who liked and disliked a movie. It’s basically them saying that I am wrong on MY OPINION. 

The whole point of me with my reviews is to tell you guys my thoughts on movies and television shows and so on. I am not attacking anyone just because they have different thoughts on a movie than mine. But when I hear comments like the ones I showed you, it’s not a conversation, it’s just them bashing me for having an opinion.

I am not the type of moviegoer who just loves or hates a movie, I can be in the middle sometimes. 

And when I got honest, people went after me and bashed me for it. But lets be honest, this is the internet, what did you expect?

And there was only ONE thing on my review, that I should’ve done better. Now I am going to elaborate. 

I said in my review that the movie was inconsistent and predictable.

Here’s why: The movie when it came to being inconsistent, it was inconsistent because of the tone. For example, a scene with Tempest yelling at Grubber, which is her minion basically, and the scene would be played out as scary and intense. And then the next scene, it would be a comedic scene with the ponies, and Pinkie Pie would act insane for comedic purposes. Now with the overall story, it’s predictable because the story has so many cliche tropes, that I knew exactly how the story would play out.

Man, I love educating you guys! 

And then there would be a very long comment, basically saying that I’m wrong about the movie that I watched three times. Again, with movies and other media, people view those things with a different opinion and mindset. When I watch, lets say... a Star Wars movie. The Last Jedi to be specific. I have seen that movie twice and I loved it for many reasons, my opinions. But I would also acknowledge the problems in that movie, again, my problems, my opinions. I saw the movie with my sister for the first two times, and she likes the movie, but for different reasons. You see, time to get educated. With movies, there is always something to talk about. People who watch movies have different viewpoints, three people will see the same movie and can all love it, but for different reasons. You see, that person who listed all of the things I said that “were wrong” asked if I “Saw the movie and payed attention?” Yeah, I saw the movie three times and I have different thoughts on it than you do. So then this person with the list said that I was wrong on what I said, only then to reply with HIS OR HER OPINIONS. So wait, you basically said that I was wrong on certain things about the movie, only then for you to reply with your opinions as well? Then you are not proving your point.

If you wanted to talk about the movie and tell me why you liked it, that’s fine! But don’t come at me and try to prove me wrong like I assaulted you, you came at me. 

IF, I was talking about a real life event and I got my facts wrong, and then someone pointed me out that I was wrong, totally different story.

So my point is that if you want to discuss different opinions with someone who also has different opinions, then go for it! Chat among yourselves, get to know each other while you’re at it!  

I posted my EMOJI MOVIE review and everyone loved my review, but if I have different feelings about a movie everyone loves but me, then I’m the assaulter all of the sudden. Someone told me that they liked the soundtrack to that movie, I didn’t have a problem with that, because I’m not an asshole. 

Don’t shit on people who have different opinions than yours. I did not attack everyone else’s reviews. 

Hell, I don’t even know IF THE COMMENTATORS WHO COMMENTED ON MY POST EVEN READ THE WHOLE THING! Because someone said I bitched about it. Here’s what I said on that exact same post, before I started reviewing it. It says and I quote, “I am not hating on this movie just because I can or because I had a lot of plot theories in my head and they didn’t come true (*coughs* Last Jedi). I just simply don’t like this movie, and there are many reasons why.”

In the end, after everything the commentators said, they realize that they made themselves look stupid. Lose lose for you, win win for me. 

For all of the movie reviewers who have opinions and respect others for theirs, you are awesome! 

Don’t bash people for their opinions, okay?

My name is Peter. I identify as the Doctor from the TV show Doctor Who (I am fictionkin). I have something very important to say, and it is time that I broke my silence. Before I begin, it is important that I disclose that I am diagnosed bipolar type 1 (severe) with psychotic features, and that I have been being treated for it since December 15th 2016. Any mistakes that I make in the following are due to the time that has passed and my faulty memory due to stress. I apologize that I do not have screenshots of any of this. I beg of you to believe me on the strength of my word alone. It is all I have.

The Gallifreyan Tradition is a cult, and the leader of that cult Cassandra Oakdown is an abusive person who personally contributed to my mental health breakdown that included but was not limited to self harm, suicidal idealization, and psychotic breaks from reality. Cassandra is a danger to the Doctor Who kin community and the Doctor Who fandom community at large.

It all began on January 25th, 2016. That's the day I made my sideblog for contemplating my newly discovered Doctor kintype separately from my main blog. I wanted to separate it from my main blog to study my feelings on my own, uninterrupted from outside influence. The Awakening process is a delicate one and I wanted to be left alone.

I made the mistake of using some tags that alerted Cassandra to my presence, likely “tenthdoctorkin” or “doctorwhokin.” She literally pounced on me within days of having made the blog, aggressively talking to me until I finally responded. As I was a lonely person who was struggling to make friends, I was elated that someone wanted to be my friend. I saw nothing wrong at first.

Nothing was wrong at first. We bonded over some shared media interests, some books we both read, some movies we both watched. I don't remember what. She told me she was a non-canon Gallifreyan of some personal import to the Doctor, having been married to his (also non-canon) cousin. I congratulated myself on having found potential canonmates so quickly and eagerly allowed myself to be enveloped into her social circle.

I became introduced to several others of import, Tau and Taurus. Tau was Cassandra's girlfriend of this life, and believes herself to be her non-canon Gallifreyan wife in a past life and the Doctor's non-canon cousin. Taurus is the non-canon son of the Doctor. There was also a Koschei (aka the Master) for a brief time. Oh, and there was Shilo, who was a TARDIS who established themselves as being my TARDIS but kept talking to other Doctors. Later on, I was also introduced to a non-canon brother named Teddy (who later renamed themselves Skyler).

Are you noticing a pattern here? All but Koschei and the TARDIS of these “canonmates” are non-canon.

It is also of import to note that Cassandra has a “soulbond” of Rassilon in her head. Now I see this as a huge warning sign, knowing my Doctor Who lore a lot better, but at first I believed her when she said that ��he's a different Rassilon.” I believe that this Rassilon character is the source of a lot of trouble, and perhaps can be blamed for a lot of Cassandra's behavior. Maybe Cassandra's not so bad on her own, but was corrupted by the arguably insane Time Lord. Long story short, I don't trust the guy.

It is important to note that from the start, I had a bit of a crush on Cassandra. She is my type – brunette chin-length hair and intelligent and charismatic, and I wasn't aware that she was engaged when I first met her. In fact, within days of meeting her she admitted to having relationship troubles with Tau and asked if she should leave Tau – which makes me feel like I was being strung along with the possibility that one day me and Cassandra could be a thing. (I would never accept her now, of course, after everything she's done to me.)

Cassandra, Tau, Taurus,Shilo, and Koschei all spoke of me as their Doctor without any confirmation on my part. Remember that I was newly Awakened without any memories to confirm or deny what they were saying. I was so starved for affection and community that when they would say things that marked me as belonging to them, I didn't argue. I remember one distinct instance where Cassandra recalled an instance where her Doctor proclaimed himself “a Dance Lord” instead of a Time Lord and she phrased as “remember when you called yourself a Dance Lord instead of a Time Lord?” or something like that. There were many instances like this where my memories were subtly manipulated without me noticing.

I would like to draw particular attention to this kind of phrasing in conversation because nowhere on this hell website have I ever seen any kind of warning against it. If someone approaches you and starts saying things like, “do you remember when you did (x)” or “I remember when you (x)” unprompted excessively (without giving you room to say “no, I didn't do that”), they could be attempting to gaslight you and manipulate your memories. Please be careful!

Sometime in August or July of 2016, there was an incident. Koschei lived in Germany, and the legal drinking age is lower. Long story short, Koschei got drunk and made an appearance in the group chat. I have an alcoholic uncle and became vastly panicked when Koschei accidentally sounded exactly like my uncle. I privately messaged Koschei to tell him that I had something important to tell him when he got sober, but he picked it into a fight and in a blind panic I told him that I didn't want anything to do with him any more because I was terrified of drunk people. It split the “Gallifamily” in half. Koschei left the group chat that night.

That was the first time I attempted suicide. I was so emotionally agonized that I tied a necktie around my neck and tried to tighten it, but I chickened out. I told Tau and she freaked out.

That was the beginning of the trouble. Tau attempted to mend the rift between Koschei and I, but I continued to panic if I was in the same chat room as him. Cassandra continued to reblog from him even when I expressed that I was having panic attacks (genuine ones that left me hyperventilating and shaking in the public library) if I even saw his username on my dashboard. Eventually the Koschei incident blew over, but the group was left Koschi-less as we did not find a replacement “double.”

That was the first time that I began to suspect that Cassandra was not entirely on my side.

After that, my memory begins to get really, really shaky because of my mental illness. I do remember that it was the beginning of my nausea and that I began puking every few mornings because of my anxiety.

I suppose now is a good time to mention the Gallifreyan Tradition, since I mentioned it earlier. The Gallifreyan Tradition was sold to me as a social reconstruction of Gallifrey, a group of people who wanted to recreate the values and culture of Gallifrey here on Earth. It sounded really interesting and cool to me, as I was extremely new to the series of Doctor Who and did not know about the unpleasant lore of Gallifrey – and indeed had not recovered my own unpleasant memories of the place. At the time, the Gallifreyan Tradition just sounded like a nerdy place for a newly Awakened Doctor to call home.

I was never fully recruited to the GT. I always skirted just around the edges, and for that I am glad. But what I learned about it horrifies me now. Cassandra has absolute power over everyone else, and they call her “Lord President,” a title that even the Doctor himself in canon shunned. They hijack fandom posts to try and recruit members. They encourage their members to cyberbully – I was unfortunately part of one of those attacks, which I will elaborate on below. Other people who were deeper in the GT can probably provide more information.

As part of being recruited to the GT, Cassandra told me about the Patron Theory. She supposed that there was a person out there for each one of the old Patrons of Gallifrey. She, obviously was with Rassilon who was in her head as a Soulbond. She supposed that I was a match for a Patron who was called the Other. I was leery about the theory at first, but after a couple of “supernatural” signs (I found a burned piece of paper in a creek that seemed to have a cryptic message for me, and tarot cards seemed to point toward the Other, and divination through music seemed to contact the Other), I accepted her theory. Unbeknownst to me, some time after I started attempting spirit work, the GT officially abandoned the Patron Theory as a silly idea. I seem to be mocked for ever believing it seriously now although Cassandra was entirely serious when she presented it to me in the first place.

Just to note – I no longer attempt to work with the Other. If I have a spirit guide from Gallifrey, they can shove their signs and signals up their arse and go right back to that accursed, burning place.

About the cyberbulling – I am deeply, deeply shamed for what I have done. I would apologize to the ones I hurt if I could remember their urls. I am not entirely sure any more what incited the incident except Cassandra claimed that some members of the fandom had attacked her in some way. I suggested a harmless attack back with funny memes, such as a picture of a cat flying through space spammed to their submit boxes multiple times. It was Cassandra's place as a leader to say “no, that is inappropriate.” But she did not. And I became her willing weapon in the cyberbulling incident. I take full responsibility for attacking those innocent people. If it's any consolation, I cut my attack short because the guilt overwhelmed me as I realized that they were innocent people who just enjoyed the same media as I did.

After the cyberbullying, I began to lose my trust in Cassandra, and I suspect that she began to lose her trust in me. But I wasn't sure about losing her and cutting her out of my life. She had become my closest friend. I began to neglect my in real life friendships because it felt like Cassandra was my only friend. She was only a text away, only a Tumblr message away. She was always there. We shared stories, memories, fanfiction recs, theories about reincarnation... I remember I only got interested in the television show Firefly because she was too. I can't stand to watch it now. I regret buying it because now I can't get rid of it without my mum asking awkward questions.

But Cassandra began to change. And I didn't understand why. She grew distant. She began to vanish from conversations while I was mid sentence. I felt like I was going crazy. It was more than what they claim, her going to eat and shower and take care of her needs. A decent person would at least drop a “bbs” before leaving mid sentence. I believe that her vanishing was purposefully done to manipulate me and to freak me out.

I'm sorry. This is the most painful part of the story for me to recall. And honestly I don't remember much. It's a great big blank hole in my memory.

I can only assume that Cassandra was gaslighting me and was triggering psychotic breaks with reality. I remember that I began self harming in this period – August 4th 2016 was the first day I took a blade to my arm. She encouraged me to “control your emotions” which only made me self harm more – and she knew it. And she kept saying it.

I remember that she belittled any mentioning of my own abuse at home. I remember one specific instance where I made a post where I said something along the lines of, “I feel like I can’t say I have an abusive family because it’s never escalated into physical violence,” and she commented “Some people have it so easy.” That phrase has been very damaging to me and was used as a weapon against me to make me believe that the situation I was in - am still in - was lesser and hardly important compared to Cassandra’s. Cassandra took every opportunity to make sure that I felt like I couldn’t talk about my abuse. I still feel like I can’t. Because I’ve had it so easy, you see.

I became obsessed with her, I'll admit that. I remember begging her not to leave me, and her saying “I can't keep lighting myself on fire to keep you warm.” I still don't know what she meant. I was so terrified that all the people I knew and loved were going to leave. All my life, I have been socially isolated (I have exactly one irl friend, and I've only known him for about three years), and I had recently experienced a loss of my entire social world which is not relevant to this tale. And the incident with Koschei had made me keenly aware that people could leave and not come back. All I knew is that Cassandra was leaving and I couldn't hold on to her. I was terrified.

In the end, I tried to slit my wrists. Luckily, the blade I used wasn't so sharp. I survived with nary a mark to show for it. Hell, not even the repeated cutting on my arm and thigh have left scars, which pisses me off because shouldn't I have scars from that hell?

Then I started making plans on swallowing a bottle of aspirin. Aspirin is reputedly poison to Time Lords, so I thought it would be apropos to end my life that way. It would be a nasty death, and an agonizing one. I thought it would be enough to finally apologize to Cassandra for however I had hurt her. And to end my emotional suffering.

On December 15th, 2016, I was taken to a therapy appointment where I admitted to self harm and my multiple suicide attempts and my current plans to end my life. I was admitted to a treatment facility that afternoon. I was eventually diagnosed with bipolar type 1, severe, with psychotic features.

As a result of my interactions with the Gallifreyan Tradition and Cassandra Oakdown, I believe that I have PTSD. I am triggered to anxiety, panic attacks, flashbacks, and self-harm urges where they didn't exist before by such things as Gallifreyan writing, owls, a certain shade of red, names such as Prydon and Oakdown, and Tumblr urls that are too hecking long and have too many hyphens.

I firmly believe that the Gallifreyan Tradition is a danger to all Doctor Who fictionkin and that Cassandra Oakdown is the worst danger of the entire group.

If I may take a few more minutes of your time? Remember Shilo, that I mentioned earlier? I entered a relationship with them before I was entered into the treatment facility, a queer platonic relationship. Look it up if you don't know what it is. Shilo was a major emotional support while I was hospitalized, and I called them every single day – sometimes multiple times the same day. But after I came home, something began to change. They became distant, and eventually they blocked me on Tumblr and expected me to carry on as if nothing had happened. I had been dumped for no reason. In the end, Shilo kept dumping emotion bombs like that on me and running away and not letting us have any dialogue about our relationship. Remember how Shilo had established themselves as being my TARDIS, but kept talking to other Doctors? Totally unfair. I believe that Shilo is just as abusive as Cassandra is, just in a subtler way. Doctors, beware.

The one person I haven't brought up is Skyler. Believe it or not, they're not so bad. We both realized we were being abused by the cult and escaped together.

Too much drama / call-out / vague posts. This is a no-no. I’m here to have fun and I’m honestly very tired; besides, i think the grand majority of us is old enough to deal with any problems that may rise privately. As for call out posts, i prefer not to see people ‘’warning me’’ about x or y person because of something they did. I’ve got two braincells to make an opinion for myself, thank you [ frankly, i could elaborate quite a lot -or so i say jsbdasjda -on why i’m against call outs but that’s for another day ].

Content is not One Piece related / it makes me uncomfortable. I guess this is pretty clear. I will respect the fact that people do whatever they want with their blogs and will post whatever they please, but i expect them to understand i don’t want to see 2938123 posts about nature, hentai or something else. If you post constant nsfw stuff then this applies too.

You are a personal blog. Listen i don’t mind if they follow as long as they don’t reblog [ my headcanons, threads, etc ] or spam my notifications. Obviously i can be biased on this rule since i follow very few personal blogs, but only because they are my closest friends’ blogs. 

You do not have a proper tag system. Extremely important. I am an organization freak and nothing bothers me more than seeing nontagged posts. Obviously I won’t be that strict if i see you didn’t tag 2 posts because you’re feeling lazy if i can assume you’ll do it later. It’s all about organization.

Your blog doesn’t have a rules and about pages. This, along with the previous one are the biggest reasons as to why i don’t follow many people. it makes things easier for me if i know your boundaries and preferences -bonus if you include name and pronouns! the about page goes the same for any type of character. there’s no need for the most detailed character template or the longest biography, but im fine as long as i can read the basics at least -in the case of OCs, if you tell me they are the children of x canon character, then i guess i tend to be pickier. in my eyes, it needs to make sense -the story, the reasons, the development, even the OC themselves. it’s unlikely i will follow if you only tell me they are someone’s child without any explanation.

You lack the manners to deal with people respectfully. there are enough assholes already on the world. please do your best to be nice. 

Other reasons may apply. Like ‘we stopped being friends and we don’t want to see each other’, or ‘sorry but i’m no longer interested’, or ‘you unfollowed first and that’s ok’, etc.

As a matter of fact, I have, though thankfully it wasn’t in this fandom, but one I only recently trundled back to, and one from way back that I don’t think I’m ever going to be going back to for a number of reasons.

Oddly enough, this person from the very old fandom wasn’t even a part of the fandom I was in. It was a crossover type thing, and the first crossover I’d ever written. But there was a lot of vagueblogging on her part whenever I did anything they didn’t like. And by that, I mean the dash was flooded with posts saying that ‘this person’ didn’t ship things like they thought they did, TAGGED WITH OUR CHARACTERS, and going on to complain ON THE DASH to her mutuals that ‘some person’ (still tagged with our ship) was making their anxiety and depression worse. My crime? I didn’t have my muse kiss theirs within thirty in-reply minutes (tops; probably less) of them first meeting. I ended up fanmailing them saying it wasn’t that I didn’t ship them, it’s just that I wanted to take it slow, and after that they went back to acting like we were best friends while spamming my inbox with messages about their wedding.

I wish I was joking.

It’s also worth noting that I was a teenager, and the other person was, according to their rules page, in their twenties. This only happened one or two more times before I blocked them, but the more I thought about about it, the more I kind of wished I got out sooner, but at the same time, I’m just glad I got out at all.

The other person was in a bigger fandom, and they were writing with some other people I know and consider friends. They introduced themselves by messaging me right after they followed, saying, ‘Hi, I’m [person I’m still good friends with]’s friend! [They] recommended your blog to me, so I thought I’d say hi! My name’s [name]!” … Or something along that vein. Introduced themselves, added that they’d heard about me from a mutual friend, and that was the last normal conversation I had with them, outside of a few attempts at plotting. 

This person would come into my IMs at odd hours and just complain to me. I didn’t even really know this person’s name, and they would just dump their life problems in the IMs. Like how their best friend was stressed in college, so they were not gonna contact her by their own choice, but now they were sad and missed her and anxious and yeah, I get that that sucks, but I was a complete stranger? And they’d go on and on and I could hardly get a word in edgewise. Whenever I did manage to say anything and try to comfort them or offer advice, they’d shut me down, give lists of reasons why my suggestions wouldn’t work, and go back to complaining at me. This happened literally all of the time, it was all they’d talk to me about. They also really liked hounding me about being agender, too? I’ll give an example of this in a bit.

I feel like I should clarify, here, that I enjoy helping my friends with their problems. I like being a shoulder to cry on. But the emphasis is on ‘my friends’. People I am comfortable with. I would also appreciate some warning? Even just a ‘hey, can I vent to you for a sec?’ at least lets me get in the right mindset to be able to deal with this sort of thing. I got no warning from this person. It’s also nice to talk about something else from time to time? But, no, it was just a constant stream of negativity from them. I’m being completely serious when I say I couldn’t make a single post on either of my blogs without them messaging me. It was actually kind of terrifying, to say the least. Had to start developing a routine based on when they were usually offline to avoid being harassed. 

It didn’t take me too long to consider blocking them, because of the outpouring of negativity, but also because they kept dropping threads without telling me, then talking about how I was ignoring them, to me, and THEN requesting starters and completely ignoring ALL THREE OF THE STARTERS i’D JUST WRITTEN THEM, and THEN saying they were too lazy or kept forgetting to look the starters up? But I was the one who was ignoring them. The day I was first about to block them, they message me about how their friends are all blocking them. I briefly wonder if they’re a telepath. They say, after a very long rant, something along the lines of ‘but at least I have you, Jay. You’d never do that, you’re my best friend. I’m lucky to have you’. And on the one hand, I’m thinking, you know, what the hell, since when were we best friends? And I know that sounds mean, but I’d barely spoken to them, both because they never listened and because I was super uncomfortable talking to them; we barely interacted IC because they kept dropping threads and outright ignoring things I’d write for them; I never made an effort to contact them since the conversation was always focused solely on how bad their life was; We’d only been in contact for a month or two, tops, and it took about a year for Rodi and I (or my irl highschool best friend, Hannah, and I) to get to True BFF Level; Never once did they show any concern for me, or really anyone aside from themselves; Honestly, I’m kind of surprised they even knew my name. But I’m their best friend, apparently, and now of course I feel super guilty, because I was about to block them, and now I was the bad guy.

Oh, and to add on to all this, they forced headcanons on my muse. Once again, I feel like I need to clarify: I love people bouncing headcanons off me. If you think Braig would like XY thing, tell me; If you have an idea of a scenario for our muses together, send me it, I’d love to hear it. I’ll even reblog that ‘tell me your headcanons for my muse’ meme. I love it.

What this person did was different. This person, without asking, conferring with me, or even giving me any warning, they decided my muse was a child abuser. I don’t think I need to elaborate on why that was a bad thing. This went against my headcanons, contradicted canon at some points, and made no sense to me, but apparently my muse was now a child abuser. Eugh.

Oh, and before I give a brief run-down on what finally prompted me to block this person, I feel it’s worth mentioning that when we’d first started talking, I’d just turned eighteen, and they were twenty-one. 

Anyway, so the straw that finally sucker-punched the camel in the jaw was when they messaged me after A Day. I was tired, hungry, had been in class all morning and in line at the campus book store for half an hour, and my arms were loaded down with textbooks. I was sort of struggling through tumblr for something to do, but typing was pretty hard. This person swings into my IMs and starts a suspiciously normal conversation - Actually asks me about school, what my major is, etc etc. I’m giving one-word replies for the most part, both because I’m not in the most social mood (and I’m not comfortable with this person to begin with), and because I don’t have the hands free to type long sentences anyway. But I’m starting to think that maybe, just maybe, this person has turned over a new leaf. Maybe I was right for giving them so many chances. And then, in the middle of the conversation, zero warning, they say:

“Are you out to your family, yet?”

And I’m just stunned. I had no idea how to respond. After a minute or more of me just staring, not answering, they add, ‘can I ask that?’, and I had no idea what to say in return aside from something like ‘no, I’m not, and I don’t know if I ever will be’, hoping to end the conversation. This person then starts complaining at me for not being out, because they wanted help with getting their family to remember their pronouns. I offered some suggestions anyways, those were all ignored, and out came more rants about how terrible their life was. 

I blocked them not long after, after speaking to two close friends who agreed that I probably should’ve done so earlier.

So, yeah, those are the two instances that come to mind. I’m a bit more careful with who I chill with, now, and I’ve learned to be pretty blunt when shutting this stuff down, so it hasn’t happened since. \o/
