This is going to be a long post. I have had so many new observation as re-watched the summer I turned pretty.

I have so many thoughts about Jeremiah X Belly ship - I have never been this obsessed the last time I watched it. Although everyone is entitled to their own opinions - this is entirely what I have felt.

I did sympathize with all of the three characters at some point of the time - to me neither of them had ever been a "red flag" and in some situations all of them have been one.

Conrad to Belly was a dream, a wish something she wanted to attain since forever. She had never seen him as a friend, though it was definitely not just a teenage crush it had depth too. It was a fantasy in mind that she wished was real- and this constant hope had built a version of Conrad already in her head who is the love of her life. But is this everything love has to Offer? NO!!

To understand her feelings better she had to have a fall out with both jer and Conrad. Conrad in real was not what existed in her dream (not in a bad way) but in a way that she had to fall away from him to realise that she would have never moved away from Conrad unless she actually had been with him once- because she had to choose between the one who she had wanted since forever and the one who she had budding feelings for .... And it was always going to be the first choice.

You know what friends to lovers have always been one of my favourite tropes. And Jer-Belly TRUELY gave that soulmatism vibe in season 2 (with no offense). She knew that the real love was scary isn't it, she said that to Taylor- but when she held his hand in the tower of terror she finally let go of her fear to embrace what felt true.

Jer for the total of season 1 had always always got eyes for Belly every every scene - from hugging her, appreciating her, pulling her to pools, being present on all her important times- the dance , the jokes , the fun. They had no guards between them- they didn't need to look or do a certain way to break the ice and to have the time of their lives with each other. It didn't began because she started looking pretty- remember when they both remember the time when jer stayed with her when she had cold and got infected later, it's then where it all began.

To me, they are the ship I am rooting for. The way they look at each other , understand each other- "oh I should definitely go with jer cause he is definitely scared but he won't admit"~ Belly. I saw in her eyes on the first pool kiss - she was definitely not meaning it for a pass time, with someone who has been her secret keeperbuddy, best friend throughout. Do you really think she would throw away that precious thing- just for a hook up? It wasn't meant so but when Conrad's offer came over she let her dream and fantasy win over the reality that she had been going through. What she had with Conrad was love too but with Jeremiah it's definitely soulmatism. To here I rest my case~ I don't know what is in store for season 3 but if the ending goes with the books ending - maybe I have to live in the ending of season 2 forever. Team JELLLY!!

Right, so you know Frankie and the Storyteller from Sarah? Their final designs are actually both based on a character from a scrapped found footage story I started writing in 2020!

The original story was about a journalist called Frankie in the 1920s, who takes up an investigation of a local urban legend of a vampire living in a mansion in the woods in order to finance his trans best friend's gender reassignment surgery in Weimar Germany. He finds the vampire, Marie, falls in love with her and she grants him immortality so that they can live in the mansion forever, but the next day he is decapitated by an axe murderer and his head is stolen by a mysterious woman in a red coat. Henceforth he hides away in the mansion and becomes a local urban legend.

Years later, during WW2, a conference of scientists is being held in the town in an effort to find a weapon to use against the Nazis. Two conference members are a German antifascist called Heinz and a scientist called Elizabeth, who has invented a time machine. They encounter Frankie in the mansion and go back in time together, only to find out that Elizabeth was the woman in the red coat the whole time. Frankie regains his head, but Marie steals the time machine and goes berserk. They team up with a homunculus Marie has created called Conrad and hunt her down across time.

The Frankie from this story was a lot more upbeat than the Sarah incarnation of him. Sarah's Frankie is generally very sceptical and distrustful, while OG Frankie was very naively trusting and optimistic. He was also cis and had a zombie dachshund that Marie resurrected for him. Design wise he was more emaciated in his vampire form and had shorter hair than Sarah's Frankie, also after getting his head back he had stitches on his neck with duct tape wrapped around them occasionally.

Also there was a fun scene where he uses the time machine to get his future self to help him in a fight :]

Do you think we have any hope for Jelly being endgame for season 3? I'm guessing it's the final season if it's I need them to be endgame they're the main relationship of the series to me If it's not endgame why would I invest my time on season 3? And apparently (due to the strikes I guess?) s3 will be out like after 2 years. Anyways as much as I hope Jenny has realised how bad of a look bonrad endgame is, Conrad is still hella romanticised and I don't trust her for delivering jelly endgame.

Imo if tsitp was a one season show, it would make so much sense and provide a great plot twist and ending to make jelly the endgame and have it ended there. Like season 1 was amazing, it had Belly call out Conrad's bs and we finally had jelly only for the last scene to fuck it up.

- quickly learned that I am not the target audience for this book— but one thing about me is I am nosy. (I am queer and this book is very hetero so far but I’m nosy and wanna understand the hype)

- I have n e v e r seen the tv show so I’m going in blind. 🫨

- I like Belly’s inner monologue— she is very observant and optimistic which is fun because I just finished The Hunger Games

- this feels like it’s going to be a love triangle and I hate love triangles 🫣

- I think the appeal is one of them is silly and nice and the other one is grumpy and kinda mean

- so far I low key relate to Conrad because he is a hater— but he kind of a hater in a douchbag way and not a fun way 😛

- Conrad is mentally ill. I can just tell. This kid is depressed. Quit a college attraction sport, got dumped, started smoking, irritable, kinda half present in the moment— my next question is when are we booking that therapy appointment team???
