Is anyone else still caught up on the parallels between Imogen and Opal?? Because I am.

I was revisiting my c3e92 and c3e93 live thoughts and came across two big points:

Firstly the parallel of Ted disappearing in order to protect Opal with Liliana disappearing to protect Imogen. And the contrast of Ted, who did so by becoming an inseparable part of Opal while Liliana tore herself away desperately trying to separate herself from Imogen. Both done out of a will to protect the other. (Fyi This was written during e92 before the Aevilux reveal)

Secondly, after the Aevilux reveal, this connection hit me: The locket Imogen got from Relvin (potentially carried by Liliana) carried her baby fingerprint and the words “The better halves make/become a better whole.” A sentiment that Imogen tries to use at the Malleus Key and on Ruidus to get through to her mom. And who is a near perfect literal manifestation of this? THE AEVILUX. The people who split their souls in two (or were born separate in Opal/Ted’s case) and live independently before reuniting again and becoming more powerful for it.

Now imagine Imogen and Opal were to meet (obviously possible as both are being pushed to fight Predathos/those trying to free it) and Imogen repeats the locket phrase and something about it sounds so familiar to Opal, but she just can’t remember it. The group realize that there are gaps in Opal’s memory. Eventually Imogen is able to restore Opal’s memories, living through them alongside Opal in the process (kind of like how she projected herself into Laudna’s head in e103). Then Opal helping Imogen get through to her mom in turn. Or even just them fighting side by side to prove how much stronger you can be if you stop running from your better half. That coming together is a way better way to protect someone than running away and fighting those battles alone.

TLDR: I need Imogen and Opal to meet and talk this instant. Please Mattholomew Mercer I would do anything.

Before she became the D.A (get it!), Ellen was a lawyer. She worked for a number of clients, often taking on the underdog and seeking out injustice with precision and killer instincts. She's a defender. A protector. And now, she's the damn boss.

She's also a mom who loves her two knucklehead boys more than anything. You could hardly ever get one over on Ellen - so fun when Jason was growing up and getting into trouble. When Ellen cuts them slack, she pretends like they managed to get away with something.

Always trusts her gut. The only person who could ever dupe her - have her mistrusting her gut - was Jason and Jesse's father. A thing of the past, a lesson learned.

Opinionated and not one to be argued with (like, hello!). Elle isn't all serious though... She likes to cut loose with a wee glass of something-something. Power suits aren't the only thing she owns either but she does look impeccable in them.

A friend to many, she keeps her inner circle small. Honesty is important to Elle which can be hard to come by on the Upper East Side.

Connections:

Alex Vandervort - Alex currently lives at the Walker residence and Ellen has always treated her like family. When her parents threw her out, Ellen was furious and still is! She took care of Alex without a second thought. Absolutely adores Baby Lexa as well!!

Dean Dawson - the 3rd son, basically. Dean will always have a place in the Walker household!!!

Natalie and Rose Haven - when Rose and Jesse were dating, Ellen welcomed them both with open arms! There were definitely dinner invitations and Christmas cards sent out. Still thinks highly of them.

It’s so funny how no irond-d fics ever seem to question it either. And very commonly even add more ways Tony is always monitoring Peter, with things like Peter having a watch that’s connected to Friday and that tracks all his vitals and location even outside the suit—I’ve always wondered, does that mean Tony knows whenever Peter jerks off or gets turned on? I mean he’s a teenage boy. If Tony’s getting alerts every time his heart rate shoots up…—and having a room at the tower that has Friday fully incorporated, alerting Tony when Peter is awake, sick, having a nightmare, etc, so presumably Tony has cameras in Peter’s room too? I mean personally I love the implications lmao I just think it’s amusing that they’re including some things that are really questionable for a dad to do if you think about it for more than a minute.

it's so weird once you think about it for a couple moments 😭 but it's one of my favorite things to write about. i once made a post on my old account about Peter getting off in his suit unknowing that Tony had gotten the alert and then Tony made a habit out of checking the footage.

it's just, what possible reasons do you have for having such an invasive protocol and not telling them about it?! even if it is just an over protective moment, that just plays into Tony having an interest in Peter because what sane person just does that? you gotta have some deeper feelings for them.

SHIDOU RYUUSEI - meet ugly

your morning could not have gone worse, your alarms didn’t go off, you ran out of your favorite body wash halfway through your shower, and the clothes you planned to wear were sitting in your dirty laundry pile. of course the universe heard your pleas and as you’re leaving your favorite cafe you walk right into the broad chest of shidou ryuusei, spilling your large iced coffee all over his expensive looking jacket. you’re absolutely mortified, frantic apologies spilling from your lips as your eyes well up with tears. ryuusei’s kinda pissed that his jacket is wet but that anger quickly gives way to pity when he sees that you’re more of a pathetic wet kitten than human. he interrupts you and says, “hey, no worries! i can get this cleaned later but do you want a new drink?” he feels a rush when you look up at him, pretty eyes swimming with tears. you look up and find yourself staring at PXG’s superstar striker. you nod and he presses a hand to your back as he leads you back into the cafe. you reorder your iced coffee and he adds in a blueberry muffin and complicated blended drink, pushing your hand away when you try to pay and tapping his card against the reader. “you should’ve let me pay, i ruined your jacket.” you whine, trying to dry your eyes and compose yourself. “no offense, but you look awful darling, focus on calming down before you have to clock in.” he teases, pleased with himself when you flush red at the nickname. as disastrous as it was, the interaction leaves you feeling lighter and you leave the cafe with a fresh coffee and a smile on your face. said smile disappears in the middle of your workday when your phone starts blowing up. unfortunately a few paparazzi caught the tail end of your interaction with ryuusei and pictures of you two are going around social media. people are claiming that shidou ryuusei has a secret relationship and this is quickly becoming your worst nightmare. you pull up instagram to find a dm from ryuusei explaining that his pr team is working to take down all the photos and offering protection from his legal team in case anyone tries to dox or harass you over this whole thing. the fiasco blows over but he keeps messaging you (he thinks you’re adorable sue him) and eventually he’s asking to see you when he has days off and asks if you want to date after meeting a few times. you accept and his pr team sighs when he kisses you on the mouth after a match knowing they have some work ahead of them.

ITOSHI SAE - fake dating

sae’s relationship with the media hasn’t improved a bit since he was eighteen and his manager is getting fed up. said manager loses his shit when sae pisses off yet another reporter and offers him an ultimatum, sit out of practice to attend media training or find a way to convince the media that he’s turned himself around. sae would rather die than give up playing soccer so he pitches an idea to his manager: the good ole’ pr relationship. he approves and sae sets out to find his perfect match, eventually having shidou connect him to you, a high fashion model. perfect timing really, you’d just signed with a few brands and your agent had been nagging about marketing and exposure. the two of you strike a deal; he goes to a few of your shows, you come to a few of his games, meet up for dinner once in a while, sae becomes the perfect media darling and you get your name out there. the soft launch is cute, you fly out to one his games and he takes you to dinner, a hint of red hair and two plates in the resulting photodump. he’s spotted at one of your shows and doesn’t give the paparazzi a hard time, showing a ghost of a smile when he greets you after the show. social media is suspicious from the jump and he knows he’s gonna have to work for this one. so he pulls out all the stops for the hard launch, getting you a jersey with his name on it and kissing you after a big win. from there things get progressively more serious and several months later he has a clean sheet with the media and you’ve exploded in popularity. but you had noticed that he’d been acting like a real boyfriend six months in, sending you daily texts and holding your hand where no one can snap a photo of you two. you manage to completely forget about the fact that it’s supposed to be fake until your agent reminds you that the terms of the contract have been fulfilled and that the two of you can break up and move on. so after just under a year you decide to be the one who breaks things off before he can break your heart. you show up to his apartment with a rough draft of a break up speech in your head. he realizes then, watching you hold back tears and stumble over your words, that he can’t lose you. pulls you into his arms before you can finish and whispers, “let’s make this real, angel.”

MICHAEL KAISER - secret relationship

reporters are constantly asking him if he has a special someone and the answer is always the same: he prefers to focus on his career, but then he meets you, the luxury sales associate who sold him a cartier watch. and boy was he enamored, going as far as returning to the store to try on jewelry just to speak with you. you’re lowkey flirting with him but he knows better than to ask someone doing their job for a date so he waits for you to drop a huge hint before asking you out. you tell him when your shift ends and he wastes no time in getting a dinner reservation at his favorite restaurant. he asks you to be his partner after the third date under the condition of keeping everything between the two of you secret and you accept. it’s fun at first, there’s a rush when he smirks at the cameras and denies that he’s in a relationship, knowing that he’s coming home to you. the two of you sneak around like romeo and juliet, secret meetings and walking around with your faces covered when you go to meet each other. but it gets old after a while and you start prodding him about going public, kaiser always asks that the relationship stays private to protect you, he wouldn’t be able to handle it if people started getting nosy and critical with you just because he’s so far into the public eye. you agree because while it’s getting annoying to sneak around, you’d rather keep him private than not have him at all. the last straw is when social media concots a story about him dating some singer he was hanging with and kaiser doesn’t deny it when reporters ask him about it. you’re furious with him because if he can admit to a fake relationship he should be able to admit his real one and you refuse to be his side chick. you break up with him and he's MISERABLE, his performance in matches suffers to the point where he’s benched. so he comes back and grovels at your feet for your forgiveness, you take him back under the condition that the two of you go public. he literally whips his phone out before you finish talking and starts taking pics of you to post because what’s the point of protecting you if you’re not even there?

How would Dragon! Ford and Dragon!stan (and their respective brothers) get along? Would they brag to each other about their wonderful brother treasures? Would they consider each other ALSO their brothers and so also a part of their hoard? Would they get kinda territorial?

Would this be the way the brothers realized their brothers were, in fact, the dragons harassing them? Or would they just think they found each other and it's just a coinkydink they're in the same situation? If they did realize both stans would probably be extremely offended about the size difference.

"Why the hell would i be so much smaller than than you! It's like we're different species! We're brothers!"

"Obviously because I'm older"

"We're twins!"

"Then it's obviously because I'm more awesome"

Tiny dragon Stan is trying to square up to giant dragon ford, puffing up and going on and on about how his Ford is the best of all Fords, and this dragon ford should feel bad for not being his Ford in all his greatness. Giant dragon ford, on the other hand, sees tiny dragon Stan and goes 'baby', then snatches him and bolts. Has to add this baby version of his brother to his hoard Stat and raise him to be an excellent dragon. The other ford can come to, he guesses, since that ford does belong to his brand new baby Stan.

Then giant dragon ford croons on and on about the virtues of his magnification Stan, snarling in outrage whenever his new baby rolls his eyes and scoffs at his human counter part. Tiny dragon Stan is def trying to get territorial here but he's so small dragon ford just holds him down and coos at him.

Human ford is holding his head in his hands as he sees the connection, but human Stan is still in deep denial. All he sees is a tiny menace bothering this other version of his brother. It can't possibly be another him, because there is no way he'd ever be that tiny and huffy. And if it is, then that means this giant dragon can't possible be ford, because they're twins! They'd be the same size! Check and mate!

Just some basic sketch ideas but I figured I could drop my own design concepts for the Golden Goddesses

I made designs for each of them way back in the day. But my art was very different and the designs also lacked a lot.

Plus I finally decided to jump onto the whole bandwagon of designing the Goddesses similar to the Oracles. Cause come on. You cannot have a narrative where three important immortal beings have counterparts that have magical abilities and are named the exact same way and not have any kind of connection.

Besides that I wanted to add a little more to each design and what I chose for it as well as some aspects and references.

Keep in mind that these are still sketches and I'll probably change some things in their final final versions.

First up Din:

The most obvious design choices here are the long ponytail as well as the large golden armrings.

Both design details are derived directly from Din from Oracle of Seasons. It's some solid design details that immediately catch everyone's attention who know the character. So I decided to put those two aspects front and center.

Besides that I also implemented some design choices that represented the Goron Ruby as well as the Goron Bracelet from Ocarina of Time. You can see it in the other jewelry that she's wearing.

Her dress wasn't inspired by anything really, but I did want her to have a bit more of a similar aspect like the Gerudo. But I'm not sure it came off that way.

Next, Nayru:

Like with Din I took inspiration from the Oracle of Ages herself. Again the hair as well as the arm sleeves which are both design details on Nayru from Oracle of Ages.

The Zora Sapphire is also once again interrogated into the design as well.

As for the outfit it was meant to both be similar to a more Royal clothing style as well as simulate fins in relation to the Zora.

I'm the least satisfied with her design however, so she will probably get some more changes done once I finish them up.

And last, Farore:

I wanted her to be the shortest and youngest looking one of them all, keeping the trend and following the designs of the Oracles.

Once more the hair returns as a dead giveaway to the connection to the Oracle of Secrets. One thing I did change with her design a bit more is how her's is a little representative of armor. At least in theory.

Not only are her shoulder pads a design reference to her Oracle counterpart, but they also work as armor as well. Since she is the Goddess of Courage and associated with Link, I figured I should give her some fighting and warrior aspects.

The bottom of her dress is also meant to represent "armor" in a theoretical sense. It's meant to look similar to chainmail patterns but it doesn't now that I think about it. It's meant to be accessories to the dress but I figured I could make it look a little cooler.

For some overall design choices I'll probably change:

I 100% want to try and integrate the Triforce a lot more. I don't think there is anything in their designs hinting at it, which sucks because these are the Golden Goddesses. The ones who created the Triforce. Of course it needs to be on their designs.

I might change some other things as well. Maybe Farore's dress and I'm def changing Nayru's arm sleeves.

Din is almost practically perfect the way I want her to be. Maybe just some cleanup here and there. But that's about it.

Hello hello! Because MCYoutubers cannot stop referencing their past work, today im making the MCYTCU (minecraft youtube connected universe)

Feel free to add in in the comments with things I missed and other additions to the universe, and with that, lets get into it!

So let’s start with Hermitcraft, because of references within the series, we can assume that seasons 1-10 are all connected. (However I doubt they are in chronological order, with season 8 being the end of the world)

Moving on, in Season ten, Joel smallishbeans has made several references to Lizzie, but specifically Ocean Queen Lizzie from Empires SMP season one. This means that Hermitcraft 10 takes place during or after Empires 1.

And we can’t forget the empires 2 and hermitcraft 9 crossover. This creates a slight inconsistency with Joel’s ocean queen builds, but I've come up with two possible solutions: 1. The rift used to travel between hermitcraft and empires transports people through time as wells as space, or 2. Hermitcraft Joel found out about Ocean Queen Lizzie after both empires 1 and 2 took place.

Having connected Empires and Hermitcraft, we can now add Life series to the mix. In Empires 1, Scott references flower husbands at least twice and Martren from Wild Life was briefly featured on Hermitcraft 10. Considering that this creates another inconsistency in the timeline with Third life being way back in empires one while Wild life takes place in modern day Hermitcraft 10, I’ve decided to save myself a headache and blame it on the watchers.

(A note: I haven’t found any evidence that solidly connects the watchers and EVO to the main universe, seeing as Martyn’s Eyes and Ears au is his personal au and not canon, I’m not counting the watcher’s involvement in the life series)

Here is where the fun begins: On the QSMP, Tubbo and a few eggs were watching Secret life. (As in they had a mod that allowed them to watch it in Minecraft) and Cucuruchotio (I def misspelled that) mentions both Grian and Mumbo, meaning that QSMP takes place around the same time as Secret life.

Using that connection, we can use Philza’s lore to connect Earth SMP, the DSMP, and his personal hardcore world, seeing as Phil is the same person in all four places. (Note that Bad and Foolish also seem to be the same as their DSMP counterparts)

Continuing on with this theme, Bad and Foolish seem to be the same person in The Realm SMP as in QSMP (it’s unclear if Phil is the same person)

Now with Misadventures SMP, we have even more references to Empires 1 and 2 as well as third life with the crypts, further solidifying our universe.

Now let me wrap up a few loose ends and share some interesting tidbits before I end my yap session:

I’m not sure if Martyn’s datastream lore is canon to any of the Smps listed above, meaning I’m not sure if Rats SMP, Pirates SMP, and any of those other SMPs are canon

I don’t watch lifesteal, but I know there are lifesteal members on The Realm, so if anyone wants to add on any contributions for that, that’s fine

FitMC’s QSMP lore makes 2b2t canon

Origins is probably not canon since origins Phil is different from his current lore

I’ve heard through the grapevine that Sausage referenced Empires on The Realm. I’ve not been able to confirm this.

Spanish speaking SMP Karmaland may also be canon due to Spanish speaking QSMP members

The Portuguese Arkanis may be canon as well for the same reasons

Empires 2 and The Realm both have Skulk corruption arcs

likewise, DSMP's egg is eerily similar to Empires 1's xornoth corruption

there are like 5 different Scott Smajors running around

yesterday, i was just saying there was no point to Daryl's storyline whatsoever. today, after hearing what Norman Reedus had to say about it, i started to make sense of some of it, i think. the problem i still have with it is having to rely on interviews for the actors to explain the intention behind their character's actions.

so here's some food for thought based on that interview: SPOILERSSSSS and POSITIVITY AHEAD. PROCEED WITH CAUTION

like Zabel, Norman also doesn't believe the kiss is any more meaningful than two people experimenting, something that wasn't a given or necessity, so what was it??? WHY. why now, Daryl??

if this is meant to be taken as Daryl experimenting with idea of romantic feelings for someone, are they totally ignoring the Leah storyline? so was Leah not a girlfriend? was she just a girl who was a friend to Daryl? cause that is confusing. me, Norman and apparently AMC, all want to ignore Leah was ever a thing, so SURE. FINE. WHATEVER. let's ignore it.

so Daryl went looking for something, they keep mentioning it, so what Daryl went looking for was a happy ending? had he never considered to share his life with a romantic partner before? cause that's what it sounds like. i could buy it. and it seems like this is what Norman is trying to sell:

so the thing with Isa becomes a "what is this," so this could be something that would be fulfilling to Daryl, to share a life with someone that way, except she's not a "this is it." she's not THE ONE. the one with whom Daryl would like to settle down, share a romantic bond with cause the one is an ocean away, or so he thinks.

i see this as a prelude to Caryl, i don't think it's bad per se. did i like that it happened? NO, of course NOT, but i could see a bigger picture being told about how Carol and Daryl go from friends to lovers.

and i feel even better about it, knowing what happens in ep 4, and how that old couple (not married, but def romantically involved) is the epitome of what Norman talked about Daryl wondering if he should settle with someone and share their lives together on a farm for the rest of his days. i think that is his happy ending. and Carol's too!

EDIT TO ADD:

Norman also mention Daryl not being like Rick and Shane or Glenn.

i see people taking it as if he means Daryl will never have a romantic connection again, but as i see it Norman is just saying don't expect Daryl to have any more of this experiments. he will not become the new bachelor of the apocalypse and find a new woman in every city. nor will he have sex with a girl he just met cause he thinks she's cute. i think he is saying is, no matter how long that takes, will be Daryl's "this is it." so i guess i'm glad Daryl and Carol will have s3 and s4 to find a metaphorical farm for two aka their happy ending! I'm inclined to think that their break-up would be similar to how stancy happened: publicly humiliating will. would mike be the one to stand up for him like wha jonathan did? probably. But I don't think it will turn out well. Maybe it's connected to the leaks of mike with bruises (though he was seen beat up like robin was, and I'm not sure how she adds up in the picture yet) let me know what you think!

as for their introduction, here's what i think would flow nicely, though bare with me since this is highly based off of my own intuition + current understanding of the show / bychance!

Mike isn't convinced, and he searches the trash to find the note. We see what it is through him:

THEORY & TIMELINE.

@ MIN 16-20 - BYCHANCE ARRIVE AT THE PLACE/TIME

They have some banter at first, and Chance might even come off a bit menacing ... but then, next scene we see them kissing a la Stancy/Boyce/Mileven. The internet explodes, the GA collapses. Milevens erupt in cheers { they think Bychance replaces Byler }, a portion of bylers are confused af/spiraling/in denial and another portion of them also erupt in cheers bc this 100000% confirms Byler endgame as early as EP1 thank the lord, so we can sit back, relax and enjoy the rest of the show. If Mike planned to follow them, then The World sabotaged him--think S4 when he asked Will to be a team and the world literally went to shit right after. after the kiss and some awkward "this pairing is not endgame" interaction, they set a place + time for their next meeting.

@ MIN 30-END OF EPISODE 1 - BYCHANCE FIRST MEETING FLASHBACK.

As much as I'd love to say they met "by chance", the truth is I think Chance has been paying attention to Will since Will came back to Hawkins. It was established in S1 that Will's queerness is quite known among the bullies. So my stance is, Chance approaches Will first, and we'll see this in the flashback.

I think Bychance will have 3 important meetings. first meeting, followed by a second one, and then a third one where Mike finally sees them, paralleling Jonathan seeing Stancy at Steve's house in S1 when he was looking for Will.

Where and what time? I don't know but ...

Something about Will being the one to bring up a motel when they're looking for a place with enough salt--something about Barb being in a pool when she was taken, Billy telling Karen that they could meet at a Motel with a nice pool ... something about Jancy in a motel in S2, something about Joyce and Murray in a motel in S4, where Murray talks about a "one year old's birthday party" ( aka Will's forgotten birthday, aka 22 which I've theorized before is a number tethering Chance and Will through S4 ... ) something something loss of innocence/virginity metaphors ... im still working out this chaotic subtext but a motel would be my guess for when the Bychance arc culminates. I do admit I'm not certain of this yet? I'm keeping an open mind as I piece together the puzzle but Bychance is definitely my tether for organization.

so this is definitely not a full fleshed out theory yet since i'm still fleshing it out, but i'd LOVE to hear your ( and anyone else's ) thoughts on this! do you think we'll see bychance sneaking out to meet at a hotel, with Mike following Will bc he's noticed he's been "acting weird"?

the netherese orb: consequences for gale and his connection to magic

i wrote a post a while ago focusing on the physical ailments that the orb was causing gale, and i had a really interesting exchange with another user on it:

@dark-videogamer: I just noticed it myself, which for me implies that as the orb is consuming his weave, his life essence, it's also refusing to allow that part of the body to properly heal, like he's always internally bleeding or it's infected. (at least in my opinion) which makes me wonder how irreparable the damage is there. @galedekarios: i actually do have a post coming up on that! i want to focus on what the orb does to his magical ability in that post because i focused more on the physical aspect here. of course, they sort of go hand in hand for a wizard to a certain degree, but there are a few hints in the game. anyhow, sorry for rambling! i very much agree with you! it's def either is still consuming gale's own gifts and i think that's a reality he has to face after it's removed.

so this further inspired because i actually wanted to use this opportunity to look at how the orb might be affecting gale's magic / casting ability.

general stuff & how the physical impairments affect the casting of spells

first off, i want to note that both of these are of course intrinsically linked, not least of all because the orb is affecting everything a caster class needs to cast spells:

-general biological deterioration -muscle spasms -ringing in the ears -disorientation -concentration issues -varying levels of physical discomfort / pain

aside from the obvious things that would impair a caster (deterioriation, disorientation, pain, discomfort), concentration is incredibly important to maintain a spell. muscle spasms, too, would absolutely interfere with the somatic component of a spell:

The somatic component was a basic part of spellcasting. Many spells required the caster to make a motion to cast the spell. If the caster was unable to make the correct motion, the spell could not be cast.

i could add more here, of course, but i think it's fairly obvious how all of these mix together into something that would leave a wizard defenseless, and again, gale admits as much, too:

player: i fail to see why you need me to help you this. you’ve done fine without me so far. gale: A fair point - however, until recently I was able to rely on a supply of artefacts stored in my tower in Waterdeep. A supply that has now run dry. The reality of the matter is that a lone wizard with a chronic impairment such as my own is not in the most ideal of situations with regards to self-defence. The manner of artefacts I need are not often found waiting patiently on a shop-keep’s shelf. One usually has to lift them delicately from trap-filled tombs or prise them from the hands of violent ne'erdowells.

the orb

but what consequences did the orb itself have?

we have several lines in the game, where characters are surprised that the orb didn't outright kill gale. gale himself knows this and the imagery we get when gale opens his mind to the protag and shares his story is incredibly violent:

the orb didn't kill him outright and it was a miracle that it didn't, both gale and mystra acknowledge this in-game.

but it left him incredibly weakened and with a condition that could still kill him if left untreated, as well as those around him.

what it did do instantly, however, is that it did consume his gifts.

again, both gale and mystra acknowledge this in-game:

Gale: Is that why you lied to me about the Crown of Karsus? Self-preservation? Mystra: My concern was the preservation of everything. The Karsite Weave could tear apart the very fabric of the Material Plane. That it entered your body and consumed no more than your powers was a miracle. But we will not be granted another. The only reason the 'orb' sleeps is because I have allowed it to feed on the true Weave - a temporary measure, but one that will not be enough to save us.

Gale: It sounds like the door to redemption is open at last. All I have to do is walk through it, carrying the Crown of Karsus. Player: Is that what you want? Gale: Perhaps. I see few other options open to me, if I ever want to reclaim those parts of myself the orb snatched away. If I ever want to be me again. Player: We're going to cure you Gale: Thank you. There aren't many I'd trust to stand beside me on such a journey. Fewer still who would do so because they believe I deserve such a chance.

so what are these gifts that were consumed exactly?

in early access, there used to be a scene with gale in act i that was commonly known as the loss scene, where he would be found in camp, cursing as he tries to cast a spell that he was once able to:

Gale: Khat-Tsjin Deth-Thra! Tav [Wizard]: That was a failed spell if ever I heard one.  Gale: Failure. You'd think I'd be used to it by now. It’s getting late. I think I’ll turn in. Perhaps some sleep will do me good. Tav: Is something wrong? Gale: Let’s just say not all is right. But that goes for all of us. Tav [Wizard]: I didn't recognize your hand gestures. What spell were you trying to cast? Gale: A bygone spell from a bygone age. It doesn't matter. Tav [weave romantic]: Come, you know I care about you. I showed you when we shared that spell [CHECK wizard] Gale: So you did. Very wel. Just now, I was trying to cast a spell I once cast with ease, but I failed. You see, this fire – there was a time that I could make it come alive. That it would take the shape of a dragon and roar in delight. There was a time I could silence a Beholder with a word, and lift a tower from its foundations with a flourish. There was a time I was all but one with the Weave. But no more – a mere shadow of the wizard I used to be. Why? Because I’ve lost. Tav: I don’t understand. What is it that you’ve lost? Gale: I’ve lost… Tav: [Insight] Go on. Every burden is easier to carry when shared. Gale: An apt enough observation.  I've... lost... Mystra. I sought to impress her personally. Tav: Another fool pays for his arrogance. A tale as old as time. Gale: Arrogance? Ambition, rather. And ambition is a fine thing – until suddenly it no longer is. Then again, if that is how you judge me, there’s little I can do to change your mind. But know that I have this ambition still. First to save myself, and after that, the licence to dream. (Gale Disapproval)

this insight in just how great the magnitude of his loss in power as a wizard and, intrinsically linked to that, his ability as a wizard is entirely absent in the full release of the game.

while we do know that he was an archmage and we also know that he was a chosen of mystra, with all the gifts that may have entailed, we only get a very vague mention of the lost gifts and gale being a former shadow of who he used to be.

abilities of the chosen of mystra include:

Chosen of Mystra gained many benefits from her blessing. They held a greater command over spell, being able to cast even the highest tiers repeatedly. Doing so, however, was not encouraged by Azuth and Mystra (Midnight), as it required repeatedly tapping upon the weave. They also became more familiar with magic and able to detect its presence. In addition, many also developed immunities to magic, and eventually even immunities to disease and poison. They become much more hardy, showing a toughness uncharacteristic of most mages. Mystra's Chosen were also immune to the deleterious effects from the casting and wearing of a mantle: they suffered no loss of health or the removal of spells from their minds upon the raising of a mantle or the cumulative daily requirement of the spell. The Chosen also wielded silver fire, a unique raw magic that conjured a silvery flame with a variety of functions.

other interesting bits and pieces:

Chosen age, albeit slowly, and as they age their power becomes closer to equivalent level mortal wizards. They can steal bodies to prolong their lifespan, but if they choose not to they eventually die and return to the Weave until Mystra makes them a new body. Chosen still have access to Silver Fire and can manipulate their hair freely. Mystra has imposed restrictions on magic in some cases, such as making it physically painful to read minds. This applies to using weave-work to communicate long distance with 'regular' humans. Chosen have the ability to communicate to the weave-ghosts of other Chosen as well as living Chosen, but rarely seek to interrupt the lives of each other. Laeral can speak across distance with Storm, Alustriel and even Halaster. Chosen still don't need to sleep, but do need to enter Reverie to replenish their energy.

again, this is all not really mentioned in the game and it's sad because again, it adds a lot of context to gale as a character. the most that is hinted at, i believe, is elminster's incredibly long lifespan of several hundreds of years.

conclusion / consequences of removing the orb

this is just speculation on my part, so feel free to ignore this completely.

apart from the chronic ailments, we know from the arcane hunger status that the orb feeds on gale's very soul and that both gale and mystra acknowledge that the orb has consumed already gale's greatest gifts as a wizard.

we also know that tara and gale were not able to figure out immediately how to treat the orb after gale was afflicted by it. it was tara, who in their combined research, figured it out and it took them some time to do so.

on top of that, we know that gale had to live without said treatment for a while since he no longer had any magical items to consume and, in fact, i speculated it's a part of the reason why he may have left waterdeep behind and was captured on the nautiloid.

all this time, the orb was left with nothing to consume, with nothing to feed on, except what was within gale to give and the orb is ever-hungry.

i feel like this surely would have consequences even after the orb is rendered inert and then, later, implied to be removed by mystra:

one of the sadder outcomes could very well be that his ability to cast spells is permanently diminished or entirely cut off.

Thus comes the question: what is the Weave? It is an essential element of the universe. It runs through everything in unseen threads. It is what makes magic possible. — Excerpt from Magic of the Weave - An Introduction.

with the orb inside of him, left untreated for long intervals, it may have consumed a lot of gale's own weave, something that runs through all living souls, his ability to cast magic might be even smaller and weaker than now.

at best, it will take him some time after the game to recover, back home in waterdeep, with tara, with morena and a romanced protag and new friends.

at worst, and, with the knowledge that the orb consumed so much upon first entering his body, it may also be a possibility that gale could be stripped of magic entirely, but that's quite a cruel fate for him, someone who says that magic is their life.

This may be an odd question, but you said in the past that you used to like Naruto, right? Do you think Toga's death is comparable to Neji's (as a character that died to push the main character and their love interest together)?

In a way, yes, Toga's death was comparable to Neji's, in that she died and her death was used to push the main character and the love interest together. I would say the case for Toga was arguable worse, due to Toga's prominence in the story and what her storyline was about; but Neji's death was def more shallow and dumb.

From what I remember, Neji, while cool, was a side character. He resolved his 'I hate the main family for enslaving the branch family' arc in Part 1, and was pretty chill after that. Then out of nowhere he died, and, iirc, used his dying words to push Hinata and Naruto together. Awful, and undermining the themes of his character, but tbh quite a minor thing in the overall story of Naruto.

Toga, however, was one of the main villains, had a much more stronger connection to Ochako, the female lead (somewhat; forever overshadowed by the stoplight trio), and her arc spanned the entire length of My Hero Academia. and a bit after that too, given 431. Her story and themes were essential to the world of My Hero Academia, its core conflicts, and resolution - she/her villainy was the result of a long-standing pattern of child abuse due to stigma and lack of full tolerance for quirks, conversion-therapy-coded Quirk Counseling that was meant to force children to conform to an arbitrary standard, and a justice system that condemned her at 15-years-old and made her think Heroes will kill her instead of getting her help. Then there's her being canonically bisexual, so that her innate desires for blood and queer love and wanting to 'live as she please', in defiance of social norms, and then the resulting intolerance and suppression of that, can be read as intertwined, which adds a whole different dimension regarding representation and treatment of queerness in fiction. (This is clearly not what Horikoshi was intending, but it happened.)

So her death, being used to have Deku comfort Uraraka over the failure of Heroes to save Toga and find a different path for people like her; used to explain how Uraraka was working a bit too much to have time for herself and her happiness due to her quirk counseling expansion (iirc; during the school visit part of 431); making that the reason for her not 'living as she please'; and finally pushing her towards fucking dating fucking Deku - it all feels very callous and using these serious worldbuilding issues as prop for the most boring mandatory heterosexual endgame ever + the pure insult of having a dead queer character to do this.

The thing is, while her dying is pretty bullshit, her death did not inherently have to be used for Deku/Ochako. It was the tragic end of Heroes being too late, Hero society abandoning children who didn't fit into social norms, her trying to die with some agency and dignity that the world will not be giving her even after Ochako go through to her, and then Ochako wishing to do something about this failure. As it is, it's self-contained, and Ochako's epilogue can have her dealing with this as her own thing, no needed romance element added to it.

But of course then the story used it to push a canon couple, so that it felt like Toga and her character and themes and arc was all set up for most boring mandatory heterosexual endgame ever. Or at least, it definitely reduced the impact because this significant tragedy ended up making something wonderful and hopeful (het dating).

Neji died, but imo, his arc and themes were a relatively minor part of Naruto, which ended up being about war and peace and space aliens. At the very least, it received a minor focus in the story. That sucks, but it didn't feel like something so important to the story's DNA was ultimately used as mandatory het endgame asspull.

Toga's plotline was one of the main plotlines - and essential to what My Hero Academia was trying to be about, re: saving. And so it did feel like something so interesting and important was used for a mandatory het endgame asspull that had barely any chemistry and didn't even make sense (Ochako felt like she can't have feelings for Deku because... why? Deku would have been receptive; her friends were excited for it; it wasn't interfering with their Hero work; literally no one was stopping her from acknowledging her feelings if she wanted to).

And that's just much more disappointing than Neji's death. imo.

(totally feel free to disagree with me; I barely remember how Neji's death went, and I know that there's arguments to be made about how the Hyuuga main/branch family stuff should've received more attention and serious engagement)
