Thinking of hard kink + dehumanization + petplay with Hawks.
Thinking of getting yanked around by Hawks and looking up at him with lovesick eyes as he steps on you with his boots and casually boasts, "yeah. This is practically my dogâ yeah, aren't you sweetheart? Look, it even barks. C'mon, speak."
Thinking of telling Hawks you want this and him laughing. "Oh. Oh, that's justâ sorry, sorry. I don't mean to laugh, it's just... that's really pathetic. Youâ did you just fucking moan?"

pairing: lee minho x fem!reader
warnings: reader is a cat hybrid, perv!minho, heats, slick, kind of omegaverse but not, breeding kink, unprotected sex, creampie, depictions of porn
Nothing is going right.
Minhoâs apartment smells of those cliche candles that just reek of Christmas - spiced cinnamon apple strudel, or something like it. Heâs burnt his cookies. His hair is covered in white sugary flakes that heâd tried to make snow for his gingerbread house with, and theyâre currently melting into his hair from how stressed out heâs getting. Felix will be here any second. Heâs freaking out. Felix always judges his baking.
He sighs, scraping the burnt remnants of his baking endeavours into the bin. Felix will have to be happy with just the gingerbread house. Anyway, Minho got him an amazing present for Christmas - a new headset for his gaming setup that had little holes for his white fluffy cat ears to peek through.Â
Being best friends with a hybrid wasnât easy for Minho. Unfortunately, Minho had some weird affinity for cat girls and boys alike, and his computer was decked out with mountains of hybrid heat porn that would make even Felixâs weird friend Jisung stutter. Minho had gotten drunk one night and opened up to Felix about it, and had received an overly wet kiss on a cheek and a sweet chirp of âIâll fuck you whenever, hyungâ. Minho still blushes to the tips of his ears when he remembers it.Â
Felixâs hybrid status isnât the only reason heâs reserved as Minhoâs lifelong best friend. Felix is devious, weird, and a little bit evil just like Minho - heâs also always late, which really means a lot to Minho when heâs stressing out like this.Â
True to his nature, thereâs a loud knock on the door approximately fifteen minutes after the meeting time after Minho had just put the baking tray of newer, more promising cookies into the oven. Minho throws his oven gloves to the side and then heâs charging over to the door to swing it open, ready to give Felix a fake lecture about being late to their designated day for exchanging presents.Â
Only, when the door opens, Felix isnât alone. Heâs standing on Minhoâs doorstep with a wild smile on his face, a beanie pulled over his ears and his white tail swishing in excitement. Next to him is you.Â
And youâre, well, you. Youâre a cat hybrid, too, sans-beanie and baring your orange ears for the world to see. You have a matching smile on your face, and Minho canât help but fight his own smile back. Itâs that contagious. Your fluffy winter dress is swaying around your mid-thigh, and when you turn to stop your suitcase from falling in the snow, your tail curls in annoyance.
Wait. You have a suitcase.
âYongbok-ah,â Minho starts, his apron covered in flour. His apron is covered in flour. Heâs a mess, and the most beautiful girl heâs ever seen is standing on his doorstep with a cute little dress on. He wonders if youâd let him flip it up and stretch your pussy open with his thick- no. He clears his throat, repeats Felixâs Korean name once again. âYongbok-ah. What is this?â
âYour new roommate!â Felix beams, his smile stretching from ear-to-ear. Minho contemplates how he can kill him. âShe was looking for somewhere to stay. Her landlord just kicked her out over Christmas, hyung, isnât that so sad? Anyway, I remembered you saying you wouldnât mind someone moving in to help with rent, so-â
âI work!â You blurt, cheeks sufficiently rosy pink and your bottom lip looking so biteable. Minho mentally chastises himself. He needs to behave. âI can pay rent, and Felix said youâd like me.â
Oh, he did, did he? Minho manages to drag his eyes away from you to stare menacingly at Felix, who only nods in agreement and smiles. Minho sighs, eyes flickering behind him. How quick can he do a deep clean of the house so that you think heâs perfect and amazing and maybe want to be with him? âI do have a spare bedroom.â
âGreat!â Felix chirps. His eyes flicker between you and Minho. You havenât taken your eyes off of him, tail swishing around your back excitedly. Itâs orange with faint stripes in it, and Minhoâs trying not to get hard in his pants over the way youâre grinning at him. Felix claps his hands together, gloved and muffled. âSo, Iâve got to go now. Bye, hyung!â
âY-Yongbok,â Minho blurts. Did he really just stutter? âWhat about your present?â
âOh, give it to me another day,â Yongbok waves him off, already turning down the drive.
Minho scoffs. âWhat about my present, you little-â
Yongbok turns around. âShe is your present, hyung. Silly.âÂ
Minho reverts his eyes to you. He can feel how heâs widening them in shock, his bottom lip quivering. He wants to say something. He wants to talk to you, but how can he? Youâre looking at him so expectantly and your dress has damn pom poms on it. Heâs going to die. âUh. Dâya wanna come in? I have cookies in the oven.â
âGreat!â You say, and Minhoâs convinced your voice is exactly how angels sound. You shimmy past him with your suitcase and leave it in the doorway, sashaying into the living room as if youâve been there a million times. He watches you sprawl on the sofa in awe, stretching languidly. If he squints, he might be able to see the panties youâve got on underneath your dress. âI love cookies.â
âUh, yeah,â Minho says intelligently, kicking the door shut. Heâs quick to follow you despite still being in his apron and having white specks in his dark hair. He tries to sit down casually on the sofa, and you gravitate towards his body heat, curling up beside him. âHave you had a roommate before?â
âA roommate?â You perk up, looking at him. Minho thinks heâs going to die. Heâs definitely hard now, and heâs glad the apron is loose enough to cover it. You blink, and then you nod. âI guess so. In college, I stayed with a bunny girl. She was super sweet.â
A bunny girl? You two⊠lived together? Minhoâs heart has stopped beating, officially. Maybe youâre still close friends. Maybe you can bring her over, when one or both of you are in your heats, and maybe youâll let him watch if you-
Oh, Minhoâs so fucked.
ËÊâĄÉË
Youâre so fucked.
When Felix said his friend Minho had mentioned wanting a roommate, you hadnât expected him to be so sexy. Even standing on his doorstep with an apron covered in flour and a timid expression on his face, he was sexy. Heâd shown you to the spare bedroom, nice as pie, and had waited while you got settled in to comfier clothes before getting on the couch with him. You couldnât stop your tail from swishing when he fed you a cookie, warm from the oven, and youâd been looking at him with round, owlish eyes. He has to know. Youâre wondering how much you can put down to kitty tendencies just to get closer to him.Â
âCan we cuddle?â You chirp, and Minho turns to you. He blinks, lips parted. His eyes are so dark, so round. âYou know, kitty tendencies. I like the warmth. If it makes you uncomfortable, thatâs okay-â
âNo,â He shakes his head, patting his lap. âCâmere, kitty- sorry, God, can I call you that? Is that okay?â
You giggle, curling up in his lap. Your tail curls around his arm comfortably, and Minho chokes back a noise. You wonder if heâs alright. âKitty is fine. I like it.â
Minho lets out a stuttered breath. âO-Okay, so- how do you want to do this? I can cook for us, if you wanna clean?â He shakes his head. You feel his body tense up from beneath you. His thighs are so broad and muscled you canât help but nuzzle your nose into one. Youâre purring before you even realise you are. âActually, no. Donât clean.â
âI can clean!â You insist, but heâs already protesting again.
âNo, kitty. Please donât. Please donât clean.â
Why not? You screw your face up in a pout, but you canât help but feel the most comfortable youâd ever felt. It feels domestic, almost, the way youâre curled up on his lap and heâs just letting you. Heâs warm. Heâs warm and toned, and you flip over to look up at him. God, heâs pretty - sharp nose, pouty lips, the cutest bunny teeth that would have you swearing he had to be a hybrid too if you hadnât seen his human ears. You want him.
Minho looks down at you then, a smile playing on his lips. âWhy are you staring at me, kitty cat?â
You blush, shaking your head. âNo reason. Hey, do you wanna watch a movie? Iâm not moving though.âÂ
âOf course,â Minho chuckles, his shoulders shaking. You watch as he reaches over you to grab the remote, flicking through channels until he finds a decent Christmas one. He looks at you, almost hesitant with his spare hand raised above your hair. âI- Felix likes when I scratch his ears. Do you- would you-â
âYes, please,â You nod eagerly, and he snickers at your response. His hand threads into your hair, fingertips rubbing absentmindedly at the start of your orange ears, and you purr. It makes him tense up again.Â
When you finally turn over to pay attention to the movie, itâs some stupid film about two people finding love at Christmas. You canât help but hope you have a similar experience, and you definitely wouldnât be disappointed if it happened with the man whoâs currently stroking over your ears and humming a soft tune. It feels too easy with him, too natural, but youâre not one to complain.
ËÊâĄÉË
Youâre panicking. Youâve been living with Minho for a week now, and between him doing absolutely everything around the house and refusing to let you pay rent - for what reason youâre unsure - youâre determined to get him a good gift for Christmas. Christmas is only in a few days, and you just canât find anything perfect scrolling through your laptop. You have goosebumps on your arms from how cold you are, but youâre so focused you canât put an extra layer on.
Youâre convinced youâre hallucinating when the screen freezes, turns blue, and crashes. What? You bang on the keyboard with clenched fists, ears flattening in annoyance. Whatâs going on? Has it⊠broken? No way. No way would this happen to you, not during the most important time of your life. You had to get Minho a good gift.Â
Heâs sat on the sofa scrolling through his phone when you perk your head around the doorway - or perk your tail around, since thatâs the first thing Minho sees. He grins, turning to you. God, his grin makes your stomach flutter.Â
âWhatâs up, kitty cat?â He muses, and you grimace.Â
âI- I was doing⊠something on my laptop, and I think itâs broken,â You say, voice quiet. Despite getting so close to Minho in the week youâve been there, including even taking naps together on the sofa, you still canât push past your silly little crush on him. Especially not when he scratches under your chin and feeds you cookies. âNothing weird. I just- could I use yours? Just for an hour or two, and then you can have it back, and-â
âOf course you can,â Minho cuts you off. You try not to stare at his biceps as he leans over to grab his laptop, white t-shirt clenching tight around his muscles. You suppress a whimper as he hands it to you, and then youâre scurrying back to your room with a delighted squeal.
The sheets are soft on your legs as you make yourself comfortable again, and then you open the laptop. It has no password, which is just so Minho, and is covered in cat stickers. He must really like cats. The thought makes your tail curl in delight, and you try to calm your excitement as the laptop boots up.Â
Immediately, you take notice of the fact that his laptop is definitely a newer, more expensive model than yours. It makes you shy, embarrassed that youâre not paying rent to live in his house and still canât even get a good laptop, but then you furrow your eyebrows in confusion. He has around ten files, labelled nothing other than numbers 1-10, and theyâre neatly organised in a row across the screen.Â
Before you can even process what youâre doing, youâre clicking on the first one. You gasp, hand covering your mouth. Youâre snooping. Maybe⊠maybe the files will help you learn what stuff heâs into, what kind of things heâd love for Christmas? Yeah. Thatâs why youâre looking. Definitely no other reason.Â
The first file has ten files inside it, all video files that are just begging for you to double click on. Could you watch them? Could you be nosy like this? Does that make you an awful person? You realise that yeah, you must be an awful person because youâre going to watch them. Youâre going to watch every single one just to find out what they could be.
You donât expect to be met with a cat hybrid being bent over a desk. Sheâs a girl, noted from the way the manâs speaking to her, and her slick is gushing around his cock. Your eyes widen, comically round, yet you canât tear them away. Her tail curls around his waist, keeping him close, and her eyes roll back into her head. The camera is positioned to the side but it captures every single expression sheâs making.
Is this what Minhoâs into? Is he⊠into you? Would he fuck you like this, would he talk to you like this?
Youâre clicking on the second video before you can even think of it. This one is recorded by the male, camera positioned to capture the cat girlâs tits as they sway and bounce enticingly. You want Minho to record you while you ride him like this. You wipe sweat off of your brow. Sheâs pretty, with blushing cheeks and ears flattened to her head as she moans in ecstasy. His pubic hair is drenched with her slick. You whimper. You want it. You want it with Minho.Â
He must jerk off to these, you decide, clicking on the third video. This oneâs a little different - the girl is on her knees, slobbering and spitting all over a rather large cock. Is Minho that big? Itâd be perfect to breed you, he could hit your cervix like that. You wipe drool off of your bottom lip. Itâs suddenly very, very warm, and you feel like you canât breathe. Imagining Minhoâs cock is sending your senses into haywire, your whole body feeling like itâs been ignited with fire and electricity and-
âKitty,â A voice from your door. You perk up. Youâd left it open, just slightly ajar, and Minho is standing there with wide doe eyes. âOh, no. Youâve seen them. Iâm so sorry, if you want to move out I understand and I- kitty?â
Youâre panting. Your eyes are glassy, covered in unshed tears, and your t-shirt suddenly feels like itâs stuck to you. Werenât you just cold? You canât remember. Your senses are full of Minho, Minho, Minho, and you want him to fuck you under the Christmas tree or bend you over the sofa or his desk or just take you on the floor, you arenât picky.Â
âMinho,â You finally speak, chest heaving. âMinho, Minho, you- you- you like these? You- Minho, please, do you like these videos?â
Heâs slow walking over to your bed, almost anxious to approach you. He sighs when he reaches the foot of the mattress, climbing onto it to sit cross-legged. He twiddles his thumbs. âYeah. It turns me on. Yongbok- Felix said I have a kink for it. Iâm sorry.â
âS-Sorry?â Itâs so warm. Itâs so warm. âMinho, Minho, I- Iâm really warm. Are you warm? Itâs really warm in my room, isnât it?â
Minhoâs eyebrows furrow. He reaches over, placing the back of his hand to your forehead, and you whine. Loudly. Just him touching your forehead with the back of his hand is enough to make your pussy drool slick into your sleep shorts, and you canât even begin to question why youâre suddenly so wet, until Minho speaks. âOh, kitty,â He coos, his hand moving up to scratch your ear. You hum, leaning into the touch. Your vision is blurry, but you can see him perfectly. âOh, my girl. Iâm so sorry. I think youâre going into heat, kitty. Iâll call Yongbok, and-â
âNo,â You wail, surging forward. The laptop slides off the side of the bed with a loud clatter, and Minho doesnât even blink, staring owlishly at you as you wrap your arms around his middle. Youâre in heat. You can tell when his body hits yours, your pussy gushing and making even more of a mess just from his body, despite being clothed. âNo. God, please, Minho, donât leave. Itâs you, I want you, I was thinking about you and me, and the videos, and-â
âYou want me?â Minhoâs voice is soft, and he swipes a thumb over your cheekbone. Your head is positioned on his chest, and you can smell him, earthy and woodsy and manly. He sighs, and then heâs speaking again. âI want you.âÂ
âPlease. Please, please, please, please, I need you, I need to see it, I need to feel you,â Youâre babbling, sweat dripping down your temple, and Minho lets out an amused puff of air. âI- Minho, is- do you want to? Please.â
âYou need to see it?â He chuckles, shoulders shaking. His eyes form crescent moons and you canât even admire how cute he is through your haze of lust. âWhatâs it, kitty cat? My dick?â You nod eagerly, and Minho shakes his head in disbelief. âI want to kiss you first. Let me do it right, yeah? Let me do it how I want to. I need to treat you right.â
Youâre still shocked when his lips press into yours, pouty and plush. He licks into your mouth and you have to avoid nipping at his bottom lip, until he does it to you and you deem it fair game. Youâre devouring him then, nibbling on his lip and sucking on his tongue and encompassing your arms around his neck. He lets you push him into the mattress, lets you run your hands through his hair and pull away to nip at his neck teasingly.Â
âKitty likes to bite, huh?â He huffs, and you nod, nipping him again for his cheek. Your tail swishes behind you, excited and playful, and you can feel how hard he is against your leg. âBetter not bite like that when you suck my cock.â
You pull away from his neck in alarm, the milky skin littered in teeth marks and red bruises. âI can suck it? Youâll let me? Oh, please-â
His hand envelops in your hair, wrapping your hair around his fist and tugging hard. âMaybe later. I can feel how that pussy is drooling on me. You need it badly, huh? Need me badly.â
âYes! Yes, yeah, since I saw you, I- I wanted you to fuck me through my heat so bad, pin me to the bed and just make me take it, and when I saw the videos I- Minho, I thought I was gonna die, and-â
Minho flips you over onto the mattress, your front planted against the bed. You let out a satisfied purr when he strokes your tail with one hand, and then heâs hooking his thumbs into your sleep shorts and yanking them down your legs. You feel the cold air hit your pussy and you moan, loud and high pitched, spreading your thighs to arch your back and present your pussy to him.
âOh, would you look at that?â Minho coos, his thumb swiping over your hole. Your hole clenches with the lack of fullness, oozing more slick over his digit, and he groans. âMessy little pussy. God, do you want me inside you that bad? Little minx.â
âPlease, please. Minho, Minho, will you fuck me? Lookâit,â You whine, spreading your legs further. âLook at how wet I am. I need you, need you. M-master, please.â
Minho hisses through his teeth, and then his cockhead is pressing between your folds. When did he get naked? âYou dirty little thing,â He whispers, his voice low. âTake masterâs cock, then. You wanted to see it, howâs about feeling it?â
He sinks into you, all of his shaft in one go. It doesnât hurt, only stretches you beyond pleasure, and your fingernails rip into the sheets with one loud moan. It feels insane, raw and veiny and pressing against your walls as if he was made for you. You let him grip your hips and arch you further, your tail wrapping around his waist to keep him close to you. Itâs like the first video you saw, and the realisation has you whimpering into the sheets.
âGod, you donât know how long I thought about you like this,â Minho grunts, and then heâs thrusting. His pace is punishing immediately, your slick gushing and squelching around his cock messily and you can only hope his pubes are drenched in it. You want him to cum inside you, breed you, fill you up with kittens and mark you as his so that everyone knows. âPliant, wet and so desperate for me.â
âLove it,â You slur, eyes rolling back into your head. You donât realise youâre bouncing back on his thrusts, ass hitting the bottom of his tummy with every movement. Heâs bent fully over your body, chest against your back and his lips whispering filth into your ear. âLove your cock, master, âs so big, I feel so full, I- hnnfg, master, master, will you breed me? Will you cum inside me?â
âOh, kitty cat,â He moans, passionate, and when you try to look at him his eyes are rolling back into his head. His bunny teeth bite his bottom lip, almost drawing blood. His cockhead fucks against your cervix with every thrust, primal and intense. He wraps his arms around your front, hands clutching onto your shoulders to pull you back into him. âIâll breed you, jagi. Iâll fuck you full until it has to take, yeah?â
You canât think straight. Your pussy clenches around Minhoâs cock almost painfully and it only makes him feel bigger, pulsing and throbbing inside of you. You need his cum. You need to cum - your clit throbs painfully with it. âOh, oh, I needâa- master, master, I need to cum, I need to cum, please, hurts,â You huff, squirming beneath him. He reaches from your shoulder to pin your hips down into the bed, ensuring that you canât thrash or wriggle anymore and he has full leverage to fuck you the way you need it. âIt hurts! Ah, it hurts, I canât, I canât, I need to cum, I need to-â
âWhatâs stopping you?â He questions, hips starting to fuck you in a sinuous grind instead. The change in pace has your toes curling, hands scrabbling to find a better grip on the sheets as he lets you feel every inch and every vein of his length. âCâmon. Cum around my cock, and Iâll give you my cum, breed you full of kittens. Give it to me, jagi, câmon, let me feel it.â
With a wail and a sharp inhale of breath, youâre cumming quicker than you ever have with any partner or even your own hand. Your pussy pulsates and gushes around him, and he grunts through your orgasm, trying with all of his might to fuck you through it. You try to thrash, to grind back on him through it, but he has you pinned down with a vice grip that only proves to make you cum even harder.Â
Minhoâs hips press tightly against yours, and with a deep sigh, you feel his cum flood inside of you. Youâre purring with the sensation of it, warm and thick and reaching your cervix with every messy pulsation of his load. You hope it takes, deep down inside you - you hope youâre swollen with it, that everyone knows heâs yours and youâre his.Â
With the knowledge that youâre full of cum, your heat is slightly sated, and you blink through the fog while Minho sidles up next to you. When did he pull out? You huff and cuddle into his chest, and he reaches up instinctively to scratch over your ears.Â
âGood?â He questions, voice timid. You blink owlishly.
âGood?!â You shriek, lifting your head up to stare at him. âIâm enlisting you for the rest of my heat, and then every day after that. Youâre mine now.â
Minho chuckles. âI think thatâs the best Christmas present Iâve ever been given.â
âWell, I was actually looking for something to get you when my laptop broke,â You say shyly, and Minho turns to look at you with a wide smile on his face. âItâs embarrassing! Just have me instead.â
âI think Iâm okay with that,â He yawns, eyes fluttering shut. âNap. Youâre gonna need to be fucked again soon.â
You wondered how he knew, then you remembered the videos on his computer. âThatâs true. Merry early Christmas, Minho.â
âMerry early Christmas, kitty cat.â

December Drabbles
Prompt 15: Family Character: Trey + Vizzie (OC) ----------------------------------------------- "Are you excited to go home for the holidays?" Trey chuckled a bit at the question as he popped two trays of cookies into the oven and set a timer, pushing his glasses up his nose a bit. "My house is more of a circus than Ace and Deuce are clowns, but yeah. Yeah I am." Vizzie kicked her feet a bit and huffed, amused. She was sitting on a stool across from Trey's working area. According to Riddle, Trey was 'stress baking' because he wanted to make sure he knew all of his eleven siblings favourite desserts still, and for whatever reason around the holidays he would get a bout of uncertainty in his skills and needed to bake every recipe and get the dorm to review it before he went home to do it again. Not that anyone in Heartslaybul was complaining. Nor Grim or Vizzie, as they had appointed themselves as honorary Heartslaybul members for the time being....while it was convenient. This was supposed to be his last batch of cookies, but she didn't think twice when he started working on another dessert, figuring he might be making something of Riddle's request, or to practice something for his parents. "How do you keep track of all your siblings' favourite desserts?" Trey gave her a bit of a mischevious smile. "Well it changes slightly every year, but this year my parents sent me a list. But I remember it by PEARLY WHITE." It took a moment for her to register what he said. "....Like...like a tooth?" "Yeah. Pecan pie, eclairs, apple strudel, red velvet cupcakes, lemon bars, yule log, warabi mochi, halwa....then it's the younger kids so straight up icing was one of their answers, tres leches but he mostly just eats the whipped cream, and Evelyn is too young to eat solid foods still, but I needed her name for the sake of the perfect acronym." He shook his head a bit, smiling. "It's only gotten more difficult as each of my siblings starts branching out into their world studies, but it's made for a fun challenge learning about other cultures desserts." "That would explain why I didn't recognize a few of those dessert names....but you listed them off so perfectly, and you know you're a good baker, so why do you worry so much?" Trey smiled more as he resumed working on the dessert he was currently on. "They're my family. They're the people I'll give my best for, all the time, every time. It's exhausting, but it's worth it. They mean the world to me." His response gave Viz plenty of food for thought. He watched her expression carefully, before deeming it best to just let her think about it for a while - not in regards to him, but in regards to what her family...her biological family meant to her. It wasn't until he slipped a plate of ginger molasses cookies in front of her that she snapped out of her spiral of thoughts. She looked up at him slightly surprised. "These weren't on your list- why did you make them?" Trey smiled at her. "Ace told me what you said about me - something about a big brother figure? I'm not changing my acronym, but we can pretend there's a silent "g" at the end of "white"." She flushed a bit, looking back down at the plate of cookies in front of her, Trey moving away for a moment to give her time to put together some words. He brought back a glass of milk, setting it gently next to the cookies. He didn't expect her to all but launch herself at him, hugging him tightly and whispering a tiny "Thank you."
He chuckled a bit and pat her head, before hugging her back, making her feel more secure and safe than she had felt in years. ".....I'm still going to beat Ace's ass for that, but....thank you...." "You realize though, being my little sibling doesn't come without it's drawbacks. You have to laugh at all my jokes now, even if they aren't funny. And you're susceptible to a hundred times more teasing." Trey gave her a shit eating smile, softening to something more genuine as he heard her laugh a bit through tears. "I think I can deal with that if it means I get to feel how I feel right now.....give or take some embarrassment."

A Deafened Bard (Stephen Strange x Female!Reader)
I can explain.Â
Please don't come at me for starting a new project before finishing Cult Girl Doctorate. I hit a wall and needed to take a break. I am trying not to let this one take up too much time.
Y/n is a sorceress-in-training whoâs known for being hard to teach. Sensing her potential, Doctor Strange takes her on as an apprentice.Â
You firmly believed that shattering the urn of Fei-Amie was the best thing that ever happened to you.Â
It happened a year ago, but it still replayed in your head over and over again. You made a conscious effort to remember it vividly.Â
Sure, it was terrifying, Stephen Strange's initial look of anger when he heard the ceramic shatter. It softened when he saw that the culprit was just a clumsy sorceress-in-training who looked on the verge of tears with remorse. Still, it was a face you never wanted to see again: his teeth bared, his already sharp features accentuated under the constraints of anger.Â
It diluted into silent, simmering frustration that revealed itself to you in short sarcastic jabs and body language.Â
"Just, stop." He cut you off after a string of profuse sorries. With no disarming smile in sight, you could tell he was tense. "Artifacts get broken all the time. Don't cry. It was an accident."Â
His tone indicated that he was trying to convince himself more than he was you. You were a closed-off person and could hardly stand the idea that anyone out there didn't like you. The idea of the Sorcerer Supreme being mad at you, personally, made you briefly consider ritual suicide. You lowered your head. "Yes, Master Strange."
"Hey, butterfingers." He called out after you as you tried to make a painless exit. You looked back at him and he gestured to the pile of broken ceramic pieces. "You gonna fix what you broke?"
It hadn't dawned on you that an ancient relic could be fixed. Especially one that once contained the ashes of the ancient necromancer Fei-Amie. You were embarrassed to say that your knowledge of manipulating time was surface-level at best, and couldn't think of any other solution.Â
You wordlessly gathered the pieces up in your skirt and carried them off, striking out any plans to go into town that evening. Instead, you poured through book after book for any instruction whatsoever on repairing broken artifacts. You ran out of desk space, so books were just floating in the air, suspended on pages that briefly mentioned relic breakage.Â
You started to believe you were given an impossible task. Or perhaps all the resources you needed, he was withholding. Even so, you didn't want to go back to him empty-handed. You changed into your street clothes and opened a portal to the local craft store.
You returned with two types of extra-strong superglue and got to work. First, you made all the pieces come together and had them hover over the desk. Unconsciously, you began to sing as you pieced the urn back together.Â
Cream colored ponies and crisp apple strudels
Doorbells and sleigh bells and schnitzel with noodles
Brown paper packages tied up with strings
These are a few of my favorite things
"Haven't heard that song in years."Â
You dropped the tube of glue and the few remaining pieces fell back to the desk. "Master Strange!"Â
"Sorry, didn't mean to scare you." He said, though his apology was undercut by his smug tone. "Carry on."Â
You picked up a piece and began to line the edges with glue.Â
"Aren't you going to finish the song?"Â
You looked up to see that he hadn't been just passing by. He was leaning against the threshold, watching you.Â
"I don't usually sing for an audience." You laughed, uncomfortably. "Just me."Â
"A man and his sentient cape should not count as an audience," he scoffed. "But, if you insist, I guess I'll have to just listen to Julie Andrews instead."Â
"What's wrong with her?" You raised your eyebrows in surprise.Â
"Oh, nothing. She's a treasure." He put his hands up. "But everyone gets to hear her sing. And I take it that only a very select few get to hear your rendition of my favorite things. I just have to be one of them."Â
You blushed, suddenly forgetting all the words to my favorite things.Â
"Girls in white dresses..." he offered, an impatient edge to it.
You swallowed. "Girls in white dresses with blue satin sashes. Snowflakes that stay on my nose and eyelashes-"
"Hey, butterfingers." He interrupted again. Before you could object, he pointed to the way that the pieces floated gracefully overhead at the sound of your voice.Â
"I'd like to see Julie Andrews do that." He said with a wink.
"Looks alright," Master Strange said, running his finger along the tight seams that showed where cracks once were.Â
"Will it still work?" You asked. That was really all you were worried about.Â
"Beats the hell out of me." He shrugged. "I didn't know how to use it to begin with."Â
"What?!" You spat back. "Are you kidding?"Â
"I'm afraid not." He said, taking the urn and placing it back on its pedestal. "Don't worry, you did a good job. I'm not mad at you anymore."Â
That was really all you needed to hear. "Thank you, sir."Â
"You're an apprentice, right?" He asked.Â
"I'm..." Your voice trailed off in embarrassment. "Between masters right now."
He raised an eyebrow. "If I were to ask around, would I receive glowing reviews from your last masters?"Â
You admitted it point-blank. "No."Â
"Let me guess," he folded his arms. "Something didn't make sense to you and instead of giving you the space to question it, they insisted you follow blindly."Â
You wanted to throw your head back and shout in relief; finally, someone understood!Â
"Bingo, bullseye." You put your hands up in surrender after being read so easily. "Right on the money."
"I see." He said, tucking that thought away for later. "Could I trouble you for one more odd job before you go?"Â
"That depends." You folded your arms. "What is it?"Â
He looked over his shoulder at his cape. "How are you with sewing?"
âSewing' was not the verb you would use to describe repairing the tears in the Cloak of Levitation. It was taller and stronger than you and it did not want to be repaired. It was closer to performing surgery on a fully grown mountain lion that could rip your head off at any minute.Â
"Like putting eyeshadow on a cat," Master Strange said. It flicked its edge contemptuously, while still clinging to his shoulders for dear life. "I'm a licensed surgeon and it won't let me within 20 feet of it with a needle."Â
"Thanks for the vote of confidence." You said, thoroughly discouraged. All he'd given you to work with was a spool of thread and a pack of needles.Â
He tried with sincere force to remove the cloak, but it wouldn't budge. "Of course, now it knows you're coming at it with the sewing kit and it won't leave my shoulders."Â
"Maybe I can work with that?" You shrugged. You threaded the needle and hid it in your hand.Â
You approached the cloak, only for it to shove Master Strange in your way like a human shield.Â
"Listen, you naughty little blanket." He scolded, turning around to face it as if it were a puppy that had just wrecked the living room. "If you don't let her fix you, you're going in the washing machine. Extra spin."Â
It shuddered, and, for a moment, you thought it was going to comply. You slowly took a step forward, only for it to dart as soon as your foot hit the ground. It made its escape with a large crash through the heavy wooden doors of the library.Â
"Hey!" You shouted, chasing after it. "Get back here!"Â
You caught a glimpse of it headed towards the relic room, so, without thinking, you opened a portal to make it there first. You reached it only seconds before the cloak breached the threshold, with only enough time to grab it by the edge.Â
"Come here!" You exclaimed, giving it a full force tug. It tugged back, overpowering you to the tenth degree. It dragged you across the room and into the foyer. You yanked on it, only for it to escape from your grip and send you flying back into the wall. You wondered for a second how such a sturdy piece of fabric could possibly be in need of maintenance.Â
"Bastard." You mumbled, rubbing the spot where your head collided with the wall. The pain didn't stop you, though. You were on your feet within seconds, pursuing the naughty blanket all over again.Â
You heard the words of one of your many, many masters ringing in your ears; "never outrun what you can outsmart". Or maybe that was from a Garfield comic. Either way, whether or not you could outsmart the cloak was still unknown, but you had to at least try.Â
You took a second to catch your breath and tried to remember where you saw it heading next. Downstairs, you thought. To the laundry room. The one place you would never look.Â
You slowly but deliberately descended the stairs to the basement where the laundry was. You turned the light on and saw overturned baskets of towels, clothes, and sheets everywhere. And then a washing machine door slammed shut. You turned your head and saw a twinge of dark red hiding in the washing machine.Â
You removed your shoes and socks to minimize noise, then picked up a fitted sheet that had been thrown on the ground. You mounted the washing machine and affixed the sheet to the front. The cloak would have to come shooting out the door, and you would ambush it.Â
You forced the door open with your heel, holding the sheet like a giant net. As predicted, the cloak shot out like a bullet from a gun, getting caught in the sheet. It thrashed around aimlessly, trying to escape, but you had a tight grip and it wasn't going anywhere.Â
"It's curtains for you!" You said, then laughed at your own joke. "Stop struggling!"Â
It flailed and fought, but eventually ran out of energy and sunk to the ground. Not trusting it quite yet, you pinned it down with your whole body weight before releasing it from the sheet. As expected, it tried to fly away, but couldn't get anywhere.
"The less you fight, the faster this will go." You said, examining the fabric for any visible tears. The rip presented itself right away. About as long as your hand, right in the center.Â
"What did Strange do to you?" You asked, pulling the threaded needle from your pocket. "Hold still, I'm going to fix it."Â
Once the needle hit fabric, the cloak stopped trying to fly away and instead writhed about on the floor like it was about to die. You fixed the tear with as many stitches as you could make, then pulled it shut. Once you knew the thread was secure, you rolled off the cloak and let it fly free.Â
It shot up, but froze, noticing something was different. It swished itself around, unaccustomed to the feeling of air not blowing right through its center.Â
"You're welcome." You said with a shrug. "It's not like I had to chase you all around the sanctum to make it happen."Â
Without any warning, the cloak scooped you up and squeezed you. Your initial reaction was that this was its revenge and you were taking your final breaths, but you could tell it was gratitude by the way it gently set you down on the ground.Â
"Happy to help." You gasped for air. "Just remember this feeling if I ever have to do this again."Â
"Not bad, butterfingers." Master Strange told you, though the tone of his voice conveyed he was impressed beyond a simple 'not bad'.Â
"Not bad?" You protested. "I absolutely crushed it."Â
He ran his finger down the uneven but sturdy stitching. When his face met yours again, he was smiling with genuine enthusiasm that managed to eek through his dry, sarcastic exterior. It came out as an admittedly very handsome sideways smirk as his eyes scanned you up and down.Â
âIf you donât need anything else, Iâll get out of your hair now.â You said, heading towards the open doors.Â
âWait.â The doors slammed shut before you could reach them. You turned around to see Master Strange still examining the stitching. "You wouldn't leave without tea, would you?"
A pot of chai tea sat between you, filling the air with an aroma of spicy vanilla. You held the teacup in both hands, determined to never give him a reason to reinforce the "butterfingers" nickname he'd become so fond of.Â
"Chai is my favorite." You said, letting the scent waft into your nose. "Yerba mate used to be my favorite, but if I drink more than two pots of it I get sick."Â
"Yeah, definitely don't do that." He chuckled, bobbing his teabag up and down in the cup. "Out of curiosity, are you wondering at all why I invited you to tea?"Â
"Oh, definitely." You nodded. "I was just wondering about that."Â
"Would you believe it's just because I find you interesting?" He raised an eyebrow. "Good company, perhaps?"Â
"Interesting? Absolutely." You agreed. "Good company is debatable."Â
"I can't believe I never thought to trap the cloak in the washing machine." He rested his chin in his hand. "It seems so obvious now."Â
"If it makes you feel any better," you shrugged. "It was mostly dumb luck and reckless disregard for my own life, considering it almost threw me off the balcony.âÂ
He glared at the cloak. âWhat did I tell you about trying to kill our guests?âÂ
It lowered its collar shamefully in his direction.Â
âDonât apologize to me!â He scolded. âApologize to her.âÂ
It turned to face you and repeated the somber motion.Â
âItâs okay.â You shrugged. âMy family adopted a retired army German Shepherd growing up. Iâm used to high-strung creatures that could end my life at any second.âÂ
âWell, rest assured, butterfingers,â He said, leaning back in his chair. âThis will never happen again.â
âI, uh-â You opened your mouth before you could even really pick up on the implication he was putting down. âWasnât aware that there would be a chance for it to happen again?âÂ
âI suppose we should get down to brass tax, then.â He folded his hands in his lap. âHow would you like to stay here?â
âWell-â You said, not wanting to come off as too enthusiastic, which you certainly were. âNot if itâs going to kill me-â
âIf I could promise you that your life wonât be in constant danger, I would.â He cut you off. âBut if you wanted safety, you wouldnât have started studying the Mystic Arts.â
âGot me there.â You conceded, your made-up objection withering away. âWhatâs the catch?â
âNo catch.â He shook his head. âIâll help you train and in return, you help me preserve the integrity of the sanctum.âÂ
âSo an apprenticeship?â Your eyes widened. "Are you saying you want to take me on as an apprentice?"Â
âI know youâve got bad associations with that title, but yes.â He answered. âIf it brings back memories of your previous masters treating you like garbage, we can call it a âpartnershipâ, if youâd like.âÂ
Partners with the Sorcerer Supreme? You thought, butterflies materializing in your stomach.Â
"That sounds great, but-" You broke eye contact and fidgeted with your fingers. "I feel like I should disclose that it wasn't really all that one-sided. I am⊠notoriously hard to teach."
"And who told you that?" He tilted his head. "The ones who refused to teach you?"Â
You hadn't thought about it that way. "I guess."
"The way I see it, you've repaid your debt and are free to leave," he began. "But seeing how dutifully you reassembled that urn, wrangled my favorite piece of defiant outerwear, and how desperately this place is in need of some life, it might be a good idea to keep you around."Â
You put your hand over your chest to still your heart. "It would be an honor."Â
"Excellent." He nodded. "That saves me the trouble of having to convince you."
He brought you to a small but comfortable room with a bed and connected bathroom.Â
"There's plenty of closet space for all your clothes." He said, gesturing to an antique looking bureau set.Â
You dumped your duffel bag out on the bed, revealing the extent of your possessions. "Thanks, but this is all I've got."Â
"Travel light, huh?" He asked.
"Yeah, I moved around a lot growing up." You admitted. "Got no real roots and all that jazz."Â
"That changes now." He told you. "This is your home now so I want it to feel like it. Make the space your own."
âI donât know how I can thank you for this.â You lowered your head, still feeling undeserving.Â
âDonât thank me yet, butterfingers.â He chuckled. âIâve been told I tend to be a little on the egotistical side. That I donât work well with others.â
"It's actually [F/N], if you were curious." You said, sitting on the bed and folding your hands in your lap.Â
"Okay, [F/N]." he smiled. "You've been in and out of enough apprenticeships to know the drill. Early mornings, late nights. And I've got a laundry list of odd jobs for you that I'm too important to do."Â
"Naturally." You nodded. His dry self-awareness inspired a little confidence that he wouldn't be a complete tyrant.Â
"You did a good job today." He said, bluntly. "Thank you for your help. Keep it up and you'll make an invaluable addition to the sanctum."
You smiled downwards. "Thank you."Â
"Do you often sing when you're trying to focus?" He posited. "Just, as an aside."Â
You could tell the gears in his neurosurgeon's head were turning, undoubtedly trying to pin some kind of diagnosis on you as doctors were known to do.Â
âI guess itâs just a force of habit.â You admitted. âI used to play piano, so when Iâm working with my hands, it just kind of happens. My last master was not happy about that.âÂ
"Oh, screw him." He waved his hand dismissively. "He pissed away an opportunity to nurture a sorceress with a special gift for the sake of tradition. That's a mistake I won't make."
Special gift? You thought. Nobody who practiced the Mystic Arts had ever referred to anything you'd ever done as a 'gift'. Annoyance? sure. A symptom of ADHD? All the time. But 'gift'? That made it sound useful.

Pregnancy scare with the Batboys?
These all happen at different times in their lives. Dick at 24, Jason 26, and Tim 20 because I feel like thatâs the ages theyâd like have this.
Warning: itâs gotta little bit of everything. Fluff, smut, convenience story robbery, blood, one little crude sex joke.
Dick
âI stopped at the store and got everything we need before the store comes in. Even got those pad tampon things you use,â Dick said waving the box proudly. You rolled your eyes and grabbed the box.
âAnd what prompted that?â You asked, eyes narrowed.
âA coupon deal on them,â Dick answered and you laughed.
âThat makes more sense. Let me put these up and Iâll cook dinner,â you said, walking to the bathroom.
âNope! Iâm cooking,â Dick said happily.
âOkay,â you said planning to help him anyways.
You walked in the bathroom to put the box in your usual drawer only to find it full. When was the last time you needed one? You did the math and realized that itâs been almost 2 months. With your university schedule being crazy and Dick got hurt a few weeks ago, youâd forgotten all about your period.
You skin chilled at the thought. What if you were- what if you were pregnant? You were too young. You were 24 but it felt too young. You were only dating. You hadnât gotten to the kids talk yet.
âHey babe, where is the- whatâs wrong?â Dick asked from the doorway. He looked at the package in your hand and the matching one in the drawer with confusion.
âUh, I missed my period last month,â you said and his eyes widened. âI completely forgot.â
âOh.â
He looked at you frozen. âWait- are you saying you might be...â
âMaybe,â you answered. âWe gotta get tests and everything. And stress can mess it up. And weâve been using protection every time.â
âYeah. Iâll run to the store, okay?â He said before hurrying out the door. You sat on the toilet with the box still in hand. What if you were pregnant? Dick was a good guy but he didnât exactly have a ton of money. He was a part time gymnastics teacher. You were in college.
âOkay I got 4,â Dick said, back in record time. He gave you the bag and watched you.
âDick?â
âHu?â
âGet out of the bathroom.â
âOh right,â he said, leaving and shutting the door. You could hear him pacing as you took the tests. You unlocked the door as you waited for the tests to finish. A neat little row of absolute terror on the side of the bathtub.
âAre they done?â Dick asked anxiously.
âNo. We wait two minutes,â you said almost hollowly with stress and he nodded roughly.
âIf you are... Iâll be here. Iâll be here for whatever you decide. No matter your choice,â Dick said holding your hands. You gulped.
âYeah. Thanks. I canât believe I forgot,â you said with a little laugh. He hugged your shoulders.
âThings have been crazy,â Dick said with a shrug. Your phone alarm went off and you quickly looked at all of the tests. Negative. You both relaxed. You sighed in relief.
âThat would have been crazy,â you said with a laugh. Dick laughed a little too. âI am not ready to be a mom.â
âYeah. Same. Iâd need a better job and a better place. Not that thereâs anything wrong with our apartment but itâs too small for a baby,â Dick rambled on. He stopped when he noticed your little grin. âYou know, I meant what I said. Iâm not going anywhere. Iâm here for you.â
You didnât answer but pulled him in for a kiss that Dick eagerly returned before finally pulling away because you were in the bathroom surrounded by used pregnancy tests and boxes of menstrual products.
âIâll clean up while you get dinner started. Yeah?â
âSounds like a plan,â Dick said with a kiss to your cheek.
Jason
Youâd been thinking about it for a few days with a sense of denial. Your period was late. And you were mentally freaking out. You were too young. I mean, you were 26 but it felt too young! Your relationship was too new! You had been dating for 2 years but it felt too fast!
You hurried down to a corner store that you didnât normally visit near your apartment to grab some tests. You jumped a little when the bell on the door rang as another customer entered the store. You had been too worried and stressed about picking from the 7 different types of pregnancy tests. Were they all the same or totally different? You just wanted to know âbaby or naw.â You grabbed three and put them in a hand basket.
âPUT your hands up where we can see them,â a man yelled and you froze before looking up, your hands above your head, basket on your wrist. âTake off any jewelry and pull out your wallets. Weâll be taking those,â a man in a ski mask said. There were a total of 12 customers and 2 shop clerks.
You carefully pulled your crossbody bag off your shoulder and held it out. A man grabbed it roughly from you and you made a tiny noise that made him smile. He looked you over and you wanted to shrink away.
There was a loud crashing noise as the side glass was broken and a man with a pair of guns blazing stood in the middle. The bright red helmet let you know that it was Jason and you almost sagged in relief. Almost. He pointed the gun at both criminals and shot at their knees. The rubber bullets hit them both in the knees and they fell before you could even move. He quickly punched them both in the head and they lost consciousness. Jason roughly tied them up by the register and everyone started to leave the building quickly while grabbing their things.
Jason grabbed you and pulled you from the building and up to the roof, basket still on your wrist. He rolled his helmet off and looked you over.
âAre you alright?â He asked holding your face in his hands. You grasped his wrists.
âIâm fine. Iâm fine,â you reassured him. He looked you over before his eyes fell to the basket. Jason froze as he looked at the contents. A candy bar and 3 pregnancy tests.
âAre you? Why do you have these?â He asked, looking at your face quickly. You sat the basket down.
âMaybe,â you answered quietly. His mouth opened a little as if you speak but he didnât. âI mean, Iâm late.â
âOkay. Alright,â he said nodding. âWe just need to test first. God, you were almost shot and you might be pregnant.â
He pulled you tightly in his arms until the armor pressed against you. Jasonâs lips pressed against the side of your head. For one of the first times, he looked scared.
Back at your apartment, you could hear Jason pacing as you took the test. You unlocked the door and he came in, staring at them. Neither one of you spoke before the results came in. Negative. You breathed a sigh of relief.
âI would have been there for you. No matter what. But Iâm glad that itâs negative. We should plan this stuff, you know? My job... itâs too dangerous,â Jason said carefully.
âI know. We canât,â you said with a dry smile.
âIâd quit. If you were. So that you and the baby would be safe,â he said and you quickly looked at him.
âYou shouldnât have to,â you said.
âBut I would.â
Tim
Timâs hands were tight on your hips as he thrust in your from behind and you couldnât stop making little noises. God, were you always this tight? He could barely control himself and the second you clamped around him in pleasure, Tim came as well. Both of you panted as he roughly and slowly thrust through your highs. Tim pushed in deeply before stopping to catch his breath and then pulling out.
âFuck,â he said in a terrified voice. You turned to look at him confused. âThe condom came off.â
Your eyes widened at the implication. âDid you- did you finish inside?â You asked as cold panic flooded your body. You were only using condoms at this point in time.
âYeah. Definitely,â he said, looking down and in literally any other situation he would have loved the sight before him. His cum leaked out of you and Tim winced.
After a few minutes of trying to finally get the useless condom out, you were almost in full freak out. You were only 20. You couldnât get pregnant!
âIâll get plan B. Unless you donât want it,â Tim said looking at you.
âGood idea. We definitely need that,â you said nodding. âBut you canât go to the store and buy plan B. Timothy Drake-Wayne buys plan B. Playboy like his father Bruce Wayne? I could just see the headline. Iâll go.â
âSmart,â he said. You quickly took a shower and threw on clothes before running down to a pharmacy. Your heart pounded as you asked the pharmacist for a plan B but she simply gave you a box that you paid for. You took the pill before even leaving the store and threw away the evidence as if someone cared what you did.
That night you had some nausea and cramping but were fine otherwise. Tim was extra nice in the next few weeks as you both waited to see if your period would ever come. He put in effort to see you more often and stay off his phone when you were together. Finally you woke up one morning with cramps where actually pleasantly happy to see that you had finally started to bleed. That didnât happen often.
You told Tim who sagged in relief. He didnât even know how much tension he held in his body before releasing it. He kissed your cheek and you laughed a little.
âNever buying that brand of condoms again,â he swore.
âIâm making an appointment to get birth control,â you said and he quickly turned to you.
âReally? No more condoms?â Tim said hopefully.
âItâll take a little while to start working but yeah,â you said with a little smile. âThen I can be your Twinkie instead of your toaster strudel,â you laughed.
âWow. I wish I could time travel to unhear that,â Tim said covering his face with a hand while laughing.
âYou know thatâs a good joke,â you laughed pushing his shoulder.
â...yeah,â he said with a grin.

Tap (Jennifer Jareau x Reader)
Your morning had started peacefully. You woke up, took your shower, and met JJ in the kitchen for breakfast. On the table next to your morning cup of tea sat your new prescription for ADHD medication. For a good part of your life, you had just let yourself be undiagnosed. The fast pace of your mind had always worked in your favor, but as you got older, problems began to arise. In times where you would need to try and really focus, you found yourself utterly unable to.Â
It had been JJ who had taken you to see a psychiatrist for the official diagnosis. After a couple of months of weekly sessions, you got your diagnosis and JJ went with you to pick up your pills. It had been a rough adjustment at first, but eventually things began to normalize for you.Â
âGood morning,â JJ greeted you. You smiled at her from where you sat. She turned around and came towards you with a plate. You scooted over in your chair, making room for her to sit with you. âHungry?âÂ
âVery.â As if to accentuate your point, your stomach rumbled. She sat down next to you and the two of you ate your breakfast together. It wasnât anything fancy, but you were glad to have that moment with her.Â
âTheyâre cold in the middle,â JJ said as she glared at her toaster strudel. You shrugged and quickly finished yours so that you could get dressed completely. JJ poured your tea into a to-go mug and told you to go wait for her in the car. You sat in the passengerâs seat and turned on the radio.Â
As you waited for JJ, you tapped your fingers to the drum beat of the song and swayed a little to the riff. You hadnât heard the song before, but you definitely liked it. JJ let you control the radio as she drove. It was about an hourâs drive to Quantico from your place, which made you wish that the two of you had stayed over at JJâs. There had been a reason why you hadnât last night, but all you could remember about the night before was how you kept making JJ laugh in bed.Â
âY/n!â JJ yelled, spooking you. You jumped and turned to look at her. She was in the drive-thru line of a Starbucks, looking at you like she was expecting an answer. âDo you want something to drink?âÂ
âIced mocha please,â you told her as you got out your credit card. JJ nodded and took your card from you. The two of you had an agreement, you got morning coffees and JJ got the coffees whenever the two of you landed wherever your case was in the afternoon. âHowâd you sleep last night?âÂ
âAlright, you picked a pretty interesting spot to stay still,â JJ told you.Â
âSorry, must have been having a pretty weird dream if I was moving around a lot,â you reasoned. JJ nodded and peeked her head out of the window to see how many cars were ahead of hers. âI think I was dreaming about a bear.âÂ
âExplains the growling,â JJ mused.Â
âI think itâd be pretty cool to be a bear. It would kind of suck though because Iâm not sure how complex their communication is. Would I have the same thoughts I do now? Do you think that my mind would still work like it does now? Could it be my mind if it didnât run rampant? Thatâs a funny word, rampant. It sounds sort of dirty, but I canât really explain why. I mean, itâs just a word. Thereâs nothing dirty about it if you think about it. There isnât anything dirty about words, not in their origins. We just make them that way.âÂ
âY/n, honey, breathe,â JJ said as she put her hand on your thigh. You stopped talking and your face heated up as she squeezed a little. You shrunk back into yourself a bit and stared out the window again. âFor the record, I think if you were a bear, your mind would be the same. Thatâs what makes you, well, you.âÂ
You hummed in response as you watched a group of birds on a power line. The car started moving forward and you turned so that you could keep watching the birds. There wasnât a particular reason for you to be watching them, but you couldnât really stop once youâd started.Â
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Â
Sometimes, it sucked whenever you became aware of what you were doing. Morgan and Prentiss were good about not mentioning it whenever you started tapping your fingers on things or clicking a pen. Reid, however, had no qualms about telling you that youâd begun doing that and how much harder it made his work for him.Â
Maybe heâd been in a bad mood, so he had been a little extra snappy with you. That didnât excuse him upsetting you. It didnât excuse the way that heâd snapped at you about being quiet. It just rationalized his response for you a bit. That made it a bit easier for you not to break down in the breakroom because once again your head was filled with thoughts of how much of a burden you were to your friends.Â
You started to pace as the thoughts wedged themselves through the cracks of your resolve. You made sure not to start sobbing as to not draw attention to yourself. Silently crying, you paced back and forth. You counted the timing of your steps to try and distract yourself, but ended up just multitasking instead. You kept your head down, not looking up as a familiar pair of shows came into your eyeline. You didnât stop until JJâs hands were cradling your face.Â
âHey,â she said softly. âCan you look at me please?âÂ
âIs the tapping really that bad?â you asked JJ. It was an uphill battle trying to keep your voice even, but JJ wouldnât mind it if you broke in front of her for a second.Â
âNo, of course it isnât. Even if it was, you canât help that. Come on, you can do your work in my office for a bit. Sometimes, I think that you need to stay away from Reid,â JJ told you. âHe can be inconsiderate when it comes to you.âÂ
âMaybe Iâm too much for everyone else?â you asked and JJ scoffed.Â
âNot at all, heâs just upset you came in and swooped me off my feet. Now, come on, letâs get that paperwork done,â JJ said and you collected your things from your desk and went up to JJâs office. You set up shop on the floor with your back leaning against the couch in case you needed to reset your spine a little.Â
âCan I have kisses if I finish this stack by lunch?â you asked JJ as you held up a stack of about 6 files. She counted the outsides of them and nodded before going back to her own work. She put on a little music for you, knowing that it helped you clear your head and focus a little. JJ was good like that, she knew how to help you do what you needed to get done, and she didnât complain about you tapping your fingers or clicking your pen once.
Applin Pie
Summary
: Things are hard when you start your own bakery in the heart of Hammerlocke. Good thing your knight in shining armor is none other than Raihan the Gym Leader. You are smitten... Too bad you don't really think you're his type, especially when you see the beautiful and powerful women that surround him.
Good thing he likes you just the way you are.
Pairing: Raihan x Reader
Chapter: 1
Gazing out the window at the fading light you heave a sigh as you glance over at the mostly full case of sweet treats. Looking around at the cozy bakery you take in the overstuffed chairs and the mismatched teacups and plates. The corner houses a fire that is just barely flickering while lanterns hang from the ceiling giving a warm glow to the atmosphere.Â
You knew opening a new bakery would be difficult, however, you were expecting that being in a prime area, that cost way too much to rent, would bring business. With only three customers all day even as you tried to hand out samples to the streets of Hammerlocke, to say the least, you are disheartened. You decide to close up for the day and lock the door before you begin to wipe down the tables. Your Indeedee, Bella, is cleaning the dishes and helping you to stack the chairs. Spook, your Pumpkaboo, is floating around putting out the candles and pouting about the lack of visitors.Â
You are startled by a sudden knock on the door, you to look up and you see a man standing there. Surprised you hesitate before you walk over to the door to unlock it.Â
âHey! You arenât closing up, are you? I saw your shop on my way into work today and Iâve been thinking about cake all day because of it,â he says with a friendly grin.
You blink in surprise at the man, âOh? Well come on in, there is plenty left.â
He smiles as he walks into the shop with an ease you can only dream of and only then do you realize how tall he is. Heâs wearing some kind of Pokemon league uniform, but you donât really pay attention to the league, so you donât know what he does or who he is.Â
âWhat would you like?â you ask as you go behind the counter as Bella begins to clear the chairs from the tables once again. Spook is relighting the candles and thrills as he floats about, happy for the customer.Â
The man studies the cakes and various other treats in the case before he glances up at you with a heart-stopping smile.Â
âSorry, I donât really know what to get⊠Any recommendations?â He winks subtly and you fight to keep the blush at bay.
Before you can even open your mouth Strudel, your Appletun, lifts his little head up from where he had been dosing on top of the case before he points to an apple turnover called a Flapple Turnover.Â
The male blinks at the tiny dragon for a moment before he chuckles at him, âGood choice buddy! Iâll take a Flapple Turnover!â
âStrudel likes to help customers by recommending his favorites,â you say with a laugh.Â
âHeâs a good helper then! Itâs pretty cool you have an Appletun, how did you get one? Did your boyfriend give you an Applin?â he asks innocently.Â
âOh⊠I donât have a boyfriend. When I was younger my family and I went apple picking at an orchard and we accidentally brought home a couple of Applin.â
âA couple?â he asks as he takes a bite of the turnover you hand him before a happy groan leaves his mouth.
At his question Tart, your Flapple, drops from the plant heâs been snoozing in. The stranger blinks at the newcomer before he chuckles at seeing the Flapple hovering before his face waving happily at him.Â
âSo you have one of each!â he says enthusiastically.Â
âYeah, Tart likes to sleep in the potted plants that hang from the ceiling, which is fine because he helps to take care of them,â you giggle, âAnd Strudel likes how warm the case is and helping undecided customers.â
âYouâve got some cool partners! So how long have you been open?â
âAbout a week, we donât really have much business yet⊠Thatâs why I was closing up earlyâŠâ
âHey, donât worry about it, itâll get better. In fact, these are great and Iâll take a variety of pastries for the gym tomorrow.â
âOh! So you work at the gym?â you ask as you grab a box and begin to load him up.
âYou meanâŠâ he trails off in surprise.
âHmmm?â you hum as you glance up at him.
âYou donât know who I am?â
âShould I?â you ask with a furrowed brow.Â
âUhh⊠No! Forget I said anything! This is great, Iâm sure everyone at the gym will love these! How much?â
âOn the house, you coming in has brightened my day, which is payment enough,â you say waving away his money.
âNo way! Youâre brand new and I want to support you! How much?â he says pulling out his wallet.
You argue back and forth with the man for a few minutes before he finally relents and takes the pastries from your hands.Â
âFine⊠but you have to let me take a picture with these guys for my Pokegram and let me recommend this place!â
âDeal!â you giggle.Â
He carefully picks up Strudel and Tart lands on his head as his Rotom Phone flies out and snaps a picture of the three together. Heâs so handsome he probably has a lot of followers, you think to yourself as he sets Strudel down gently and Tart flies over and lands on your head.Â
âPerfect,â he says regarding the photo, âHey, thanks for the pastries! Iâll be back soon okay? And watch for my post, what is your username?â
â@SweetandSourApplins.â
He chuckles, âGot it! See ya soon!â
You wave as he walks out of the door and you feel for the first time all week that just maybe this isnât hopeless after all.Â
You quickly lock up and finish cleaning up the place before you head back into the kitchen. Eclair your Milcery is sitting on the counter near your baking supplies. Heading over to her you chuckle as she chirps up at you.Â
âCome on everyone, time for bed!â you say as you set the alarm and head towards the door that leads up to your apartment.Â
Itâs a cozy and quaint little place with a nook for reading and a balcony with several vines trailing down. Cherry, your Cherubi, is outside tending to the plants as everyone makes their way to their respective places in the apartment. Syrup, your Slurpuff, is lounging in her bed, exhausted from helping with the baking that day.Â
The kitchen is off white with plants and vines that hang everywhere and has an airy feeling to it. It looks out into your living room which has a couch and a few chairs surrounding a coffee table. A small kitchen table is off to the side and painted a soft aqua blue. Down the hallway are your bathroom and bedroom. Itâs not much, but it is everything you could want.Â
You get started on dinner for everyone and giggle as Spook floats about the kitchen handing you the ingredients you ask for. After everyone is fed and tucked in you go to bed unsuspecting of the next dayâs events.Â
The next morning you wake up, get ready for your day and head downstairs to your kitchen as if it is any other day. You get to work on making the pastries, pies, and cakes for today. Each one is pokemon-themed and carefully crafted to be extra cute. The attractive customer last night has given you a burst of energy and even if you donât sell anything today, you think you will still be okay for at least one more day.Â
With a tray full of a batch of mini cakes you make your way through the swinging door and into the front where you almost drop the tray of desserts. There is a line outside of the door twisting around the corner. Upon seeing you several of them smile and wave happily and you smile back pure elation taking over your body. You set the tray down and motion one minute to the customers milling about outside. You technically have about ten minutes until you open which should give you enough time to set up the case. You get to work yelling at Bella to grab the trays and bring them out. She hops to it as Spook floats about lighting the lanterns and candles that hang from the ceiling and along the wall giving it a whimsical ambiance.Â
You notice gasps from the crowd as Tart and Strudel make their way out of the back with Syrup right behind them. You chuckle as Tart flaps over to the window and waves happily back at the group. You hear squeals from several of the girls about how cute your tiny dragon is. You chuckle as he continues to dart from one person to another entertaining the crowd as you finish up.Â
âStrudel? Syrup? Spook? Are we ready? Bella? Good to go?â With a chorus from your team, you head over to the door to unlock it.Â
âHey! Welcome!â you greet when you open the door for them.Â
âHi! Weâre so excited to try your cakes!â
âRaihan said they were the best!â
âThe picture of your Flapple and Appletun is the cutest! You must have been so excited when Raihan wanted to take a picture with them!â
âUhh⊠yeah, heâs super niceâŠâ you say while you rub your neck.Â
âWhat was it like meeting him? Is he as cool in person as he seems?â asks another girl as she shoves the other out of the way.Â
âHey, guys you know his favorite was the turnover right? Do you want to try one?â
A chorus of âyes!â goes up from the crowd of girls surrounding you giving you the chance to refocus them. After you have gotten them their pastries they all take pictures for their stories before biting into them.Â
âThese are to DIE for!âÂ
âSo good!â
âRaihan has the BEST TASTE!â
âWeâll be back soon!!â They wave as they leave the shop only for more to come in right behind them.Â
Your morning is filled with young women and trainers buying up cakes, cookies and pastries. Several businessmen and women come in and buy dozens for the office along with coffee. Friends and lovers sit idly in the candlelight sipping tea and eating cakes. Your patio is full to the brim with customers enjoying their treats with their tea or coffee. Youâre amused when you notice Cherry hopping about offering mint and lavender to the patrons. They happily accept the fresh herbs before she bounces away.Â
The stars of the show are definitely Tart and Strudel and everyone always mentions Raihan in passing. Youâre pleased when your other pokemon garner affection from your guests too as they squeal about Spook or giggle when Bella or Syrup would bring them their treats. Youâre pretty sure your pokemon are now famous.Â
Itâs late afternoon before you get a chance to take a breather. Grabbing your phone for the first time all day you see a plethora of notifications from new followers. You go to the very first notification and see the post the mysterious Raihan posted. You click on his profile and feel yourself become embarrassed.Â
âOf course heâs a gym leader⊠Of course, heâs The Gym LeaderâŠâ you grumble to yourself as you scroll through his profile. You see another picture of him taking a bit out a cheese danish that must have made the girls go wild. âNo wonder I was so busy today⊠heâs got millions of followers⊠And he recommended meâŠâ you murmur as you pause on a photo of him licking the icing from one of your treats with a sultry look in his eyes.Â
You settle on the photo he took last night of your two dragons after a moment of scrolling his Pokegram.Â
âGot to hang with these cool dudes tonight! They help run a bakery called @SweetandSourApplin you should totally check out! When you do tell Tart and Strudel hi for me. And donât worry if you donât know what to get, Strudel loves recommending his favorite pastry to you.â
You giggle at the caption and feel gratitude flood your body. You glance over at the pie you made especially with him in mind and smile. You were glad that you left in the back today, just in case he came by. You know itâs silly, but he really did make your day.Â
As the afternoon drifts into the evening you regard your mostly empty case and smile as you begin to clean up. Youâre hoping youâll see Raihan, but you know better than to hope that he would come by two nights in a row. As the evening wears on you lose hope and lock up for the night.Â
You end up on your balcony with a cup of chamomile tea as you gaze up at the stars. Spook is munching on some poke puffs you made as he keeps you company outside. A Flygon suddenly lands gracefully on your balcony its eyes blinking at you. You blink back before your arms flail in surprise as you jerk back in your chair, a yelp escaping as you do so.Â
âDonât be scared of him! Heâs a total softie. He just wanted to say hi!â
âHuh??â you look around your balcony for the oddly familiar disembodied voice before you look at the balcony one house over. Waving at you casually is your apparent next-door neighbor the Gym Leader Raihan. Heâs leaning against the railing with a lazy grin as he regards you and his Flygon with interest.Â
âYou⊠live⊠there?â you ask in shock as you point in his direction.Â
âSure do!â
The stone house next to your house and bakery is bigger than your own house with vines growing up the side. Perhaps you should have been paying attention the past few months while youâve been getting things ready. Then again you have been rather busy so itâs really not a wonder that you missed your handsome and famous neighbor.Â
âOhâŠâ You blink back at him while your exhausted brain attempts to catch up.Â
Raihan laughs as his Flygon leans forward and sniffs you before chirping at you happily.Â
âHello,â you murmur as you gently lift your hand and run it along his neck, âPerhaps you would like a poke puff too?â
The pokemon chirps at you as you get up and head into your house before you emerge a moment later with a bag in your hand. Tart yawns as he follows you back outside and lands on your shoulder as he sniffs at the much larger dragon. You reach into the bag and pull out a puff that you hand to the dragon in front of you before you grab another one for the one on your shoulder.Â
âHe likes you!â laughs Raihan before he calls his partner back over to him. You chuckle as you watch Flygon show Raihan his treat before he eats it.Â
âThank you!â you blurt out suddenly.
âHuh? For what?â he asks as he pauses petting his companion.Â
âFor the recommendation⊠I sold almost everything today thanks to you!â
âNaw I just let them know you were there, you did everything else.â
âStill⊠thank youâŠâ
âAnytime, Princess.â
You chuckle at the nickname, âI bet you call all the girls princess⊠Gym Leader Raihan.â
He winces when you say his title, âSo you found me out, huh?â
âYou made it kinda easyâŠâ
He sighs as he puts his hands on his hips and looks up at the night sky, âCould you just⊠pretend you donât know?â
âHuh? Why?â you tilt your head at his request.
âIt was nice talking to you without having to be⊠Dragon Tamer Raihan⊠It was cool being just Raihan.â
âWell, you are just Raihan⊠I mean itâs cool that youâre a gym leader and you get to do what you love, but that doesnât change who you are as a person. Plus⊠no offense⊠I donât really pay attention to league stuff...â
âNo offense taken princess,â he says with a chuckle.
âSo...I uh⊠made an apple pie last night to try out a new design and recipe for the store⊠do you want to come over and test it out with me?â Youâre glad the darkness hides your blush, and although you already know that this recipe is delicious your little white lie seems much less creepy than you just making him a pie.
âPrincess I will never say ânoâ to anything that you make. Iâll be right there!â
He runs into his house and disappears before you hear his front door open.Â
âCome to the back!â you yell down at him as you lean over the railing.Â
He sends you a thumbs up before you turn around and head to your back door. A moment later you hear footsteps coming up your back stairs and you let him in.Â
âCute place,â he says as he ducks his head to enter your home.Â
âOh⊠thanks!â you smile as you turn around to grab the pie that looks almost exactly like Strudel.
âThatâs not actually your Appletun, right? It looks exactly like him!â he says in awe.Â
You giggle, âNope! It took me a long time to get this right! Here!â you say as you hand him a slice.Â
He takes a bite and his eye widen in amazement, âThis is amazingâŠâ he says before he takes another mouth full.Â
âIâm glad you like it! Here, try this as well! Itâs a spiced tea, I think the spices complement one another quite well, donât you?â
He quickly takes a sip before he devours another bite of his pie, âThatâs it, youâre staying in business and right next door to me if I have anything to say about it! Iâm not giving up my new job as an official taste tester.â
âWell if business continues like it did today you wonât have anything to worry about,â you say as you clap your hands together in excitement.Â
âIâm glad you were busy today! I couldnât stand seeing that look of disappointment on your face.â
âWhen did you see that?â you ask looking away from him.Â
âWhen I knocked yesterday you looked so disappointed, I had to figure out a way to see that beautiful smile of yours.â
âHush RaihanâŠâ you say with a blush.
âItâs true! I saw you getting everything ready for your bakery to open and you were so excited! I loved seeing your smile, it always made my day brighter.â
You look away from him and blush, âI bet you say that to all the girls,â you say with a giggle as you playfully hit his arm.Â
âJust the pretty ones who know how to bake,â he says with a wink.
You roll your eyes, âSo cheesyâŠâ
âYou love cheese! I know you do!â
You cut yourself a slice of the pie as a means of distracting yourself just as Strudel comes striding towards the two of you.Â
âHey buddy,â Raihan says as he bends down to greet the tiny dragon, âDid you recommend all kinds of treats today?â
Strudel chirps up at Raihan, clearly happy to see him again as Raihan rubs the Appletun under his chin.Â
âYou train dragons right?â
âThatâs right!â
âI bet you have a lot of cool pokemonâŠâ
âI do have a really cool team. They are the best a guy could ask for. Do you battle?â he glances over his shoulder at you.Â
âNot reallyâŠSometimes I will, but I donât have much of a reason to.â
âSo you arenât interested in battling at all?â
âAhh well, I wouldnât say thatâŠâ you hesitate as you find the right words, âIâm just out of practice. I battled when I was younger a bit, but I havenât had much of a reason to lately.â
You shrug your shoulders as you regard Raihan.Â
âIf you like battles, I would love it if you would come to my match on Saturday. Itâs an exhibition match with Allister.âÂ
âWhoâs Allister? Another gym leader?â
Raihan laughs, not in a cruel way, perhaps more at himself before he answers you, âYeah, heâs the Ghost-type leader of Stow-on-Side gym.â
âI love ghost types! I think theyâre fun!â
âThey are pretty fun! Do you have any others besides your Pumpkaboo?â
âNoâŠâ you say looking down slightly disappointed, âIâve always wanted a Litwick or a Dreepy! Maybe even a Mimikyu!â Your eyes light up in excitement thinking about the cute ghosts youâve always wanted.Â
âWhy donât you catch one then?â
âI donât know⊠Iâve been really focused on the bakery you know? Itâs a lot of work and my friends are very helpful, I doubt I would have time for another Pokemon right nowâŠâ
âI get it⊠Too bad though⊠you would look cute with a Dreepy riding on your shoulder or a Mimikyu following along behind you⊠I bet your Pumpkaboo could show a Litwick the ropesâŠâ he says looking at you as if he was imagining the pokemon keeping you company, his head resting on his hand and that lazy smile on his handsome face.Â
You cock your head to the side, âWhat? You donât think Iâm cute now?â you tease.
âAhh⊠So weâre going to play that game huh? You know youâre adorable, Princess.â
You laugh as you regard the dragon tamer before you murmur, âAlright I believe youâŠâ
âIâm hurt, princess! Do you think I would lie to you?â
âOf course not, Raihan,â you chuckle as you grab his dirty plate from him.Â
âWhy do I have a feeling youâre going to spoil me?â Raihan asks as he regards you over the tea in his hands.Â
âWhat do you mean?â
âNothing, Princess⊠So are you coming to my battle on Saturday?â
âIâll be there!â
âExcellent! Iâm going to head home so you can get some rest, Iâm sure youâre tired after your busy day.â
âOk ⊠Thanks for being my taste tester and for supporting me today.â
âAnytime princess⊠AnytimeâŠâ
âGood night!â
âHey! Donât forget your promise okay? Iâm getting your ticket tomorrow!â
âI wonât forget!â
âOkay, Iâm holding you to that! Good night.â
You smile as you watch him turn the corner before you close the door and giggle. You notice the look that Strudel is giving you and you frown at the little dragon.Â
âOh hushâŠâ
He chirps up at you knowingly before you both head to bed to start another day.
run, baby, run | jj maybank x reader
request: @drewsephsmiles asked: an imagine where reader and jj sneak into midsummers under a different name, and he finally confessing his feelings as you guys are running away??
summary: angry at your friends for spending the night on the dark side without, you and jj decide to crash midsummers, only to grow closer throughout the night.Â
warnings: alcohol use, cursing, ward cameron
word count: 3.2k
a/n: this made me so happy while writing it. itâs just a bunch of fluff and dorky jj. also, lmk if you notice the parks and rec reference in here. i think itâs pretty obvious lol. enjoy :)
You and JJ had been abandoned. Thrown to the wayside in favor of some Kook party. And not just any Kook party, but Midsummers, the Kookiest event of the year. To be fair to your friends, none of them wanted to be there either. Pope had to work with his dad, Kiara was forced by her parents, and John B was Sarahâs date. Usually, you would have attended as Kieâs date, keeping her company while the two of you got drunk off expensive champagne. But, since John B was attending this year, you didnât want to leave JJ all alone. So now you found yourself in the least Kook place in the Outer Banks: lounging on the couch on the porch of the Chateau, smoking with JJ while complaining about your friends going to the dark side.
âDid you see John B is his monkey suit? He looked ridiculous. Sarahâs got him whipped for sure,â JJ noted, referencing the suit Sarah had picked out for his best friend for Midsummers. The moment John B had emerged from his room wearing a dark blue suit and a pair of fancy loafers, JJ couldnât help but go off on the boy.
âLeave him alone, heâs in love,â You said emphasizing your words with a fake dreamy voice, âBesides, we both know your ultimate dream in life is to go Full Kook.â
âYeah, well, doesnât mean Iâm not allowed to complain about it now. I mean, that suit probably cost more than my whole life, and Sarah just bought it like it was nothing.â
âYou should see her closet. Sheâs got shit in there that could pay my parentâs mortgage five times over.â
JJ passed the joint you and you took a hit, mind wandering to Sarahâs closet full of beautiful party dresses. JJ sighed and flipped around so his head rested in your lap. Your fingers instantly went to his blonde locks, running through them lazily.
âIf I went full Kook, I would buy a suit for every day of the week. No, every day of the month, plus one to sleep in. Thatâs what I want, so much money that I can sleep in a suit and not even think about it. If I fuck it up, oh well, Iâll just go buy a new one.â
You giggled at JJ, looking down at him as you passed him the joint. His red, hooded eyes met your own, just as glazed as his. For a moment, you were thankful that your friends were all stuck at Midsummers. You cherished moments like this, where it was just you and JJ. You had been friends with him and John B as long as you could remember, the three of you sharing a third grade class. The three of you were thick as thieves. You thought of John B as a brother. JJ, on the other hand, was something else entirely. He was your person, always there by your side. He could read you like no one else could, and you understood him just the same. Thatâs why you loved spending time alone with JJ. Neither of you had to be anyone else but yourselves. Sure, you could do that with the Pogues, but with you and JJ it was just different.
Youâd really started to notice the difference lately. You noticed it in the way he looked at you, in the way his touch would linger on your skin, the way your heart skipped when he laughed and they way your stomach flutter when he sat close to you, like he was doing now.
Looking down at your best friend, observing his lazy smile and the way his hair felt against your fingers, you could safely say you were in love with JJ Maybank. And you were okay with that. You were also okay with never telling him your feelings, because you couldnât risk losing him. Even if it was only as friends, you wanted to keep JJ by your side for the rest of your life.
You were pulled out of your thoughts by JJ booping you on the nose after handing you the joint, small giggles escaping his lips.
âWhatcha thinking about, sunshine?â He asked. You took a hit to avoid answering for a moment, mind racing to come up with something.
âJust imagining myself as a Kook at Midsummers right now. As much as I complain about it, I actually love getting all dressed up and getting shitfaced with Kie.â You said, Midsummers being the first thing that came to your mind. JJ suddenly shot up from his place on your lap, almost knocking your head with his own in the process. He spun around so he was facing you, a mischievous glint in his eyes.
âThen letâs fucking do it!â He said. You furrowed your eyebrows at the blonde boy.
âDo what? Go to Midsummers? JJ, how will we-â
âSarah got John B an extra suit, just in case she hated the way the other one looked on him. And Iâm sure Kie wouldnât mind if you borrowed one of her dresses, itâs not like she uses them anyway.â
You opened your mouth, ready to question every aspect of his plan, when JJ jumped to his feet and stopped you. He positioned himself so he was standing obscenely straight, a studious look on his face.
âMs. Y/L/N, would you do me the pleasure of allowing me to escort you to Midsummers this evening?â He said in a terrible fancy voice. He extended his hand towards you expectantly. You looked at his hand then up at his face. His gaze was soft as he looked at him, wiggling his eyebrows at you as he waited for your response. After a few moments of thinking over everything that could go wrong, you looked at him again, and remembered, this was JJ Maybank. You would walk through Hell for him. The only differences between Midsummers and Hell was free booze and food.
You gently placed your hand in his, meeting his eyes and smiled.
âIt would be my honor.â
After stealing the extra suit from John Bâs room, sneaking into Kiaraâs house to pick out a dress (you knew where she hid the spare key), and quickly doing you make up in the car, you and JJ parked outside of Kook country club where Midsummers was taking place.
âSo whatâs the plan?â You asked. JJ just looked at you.
âWhat do you mean?â
You stared at him incredulously, throwing your arms in the air.
âWhat do you mean âwhat do you meanâ? What is your plan for sneaking into the most prestigious Kook event in the Outer Banks?â
âWhen have I ever had a plan?â
You glared at him for a moment, before rolling your eyes and stepping out the car. He met you on your side of the car, positioning his arm for you to hold onto.
âIf we get caught, Iâm telling them you kidnapped me.â
JJ chuckled and started leading you towards the door.
âDonât worry, sunshine, weâll be fine. Just follow my lead.â
You sighed and shook your head, too used to JJâs antics to truly be worried. Â
When you were a few feet from the door, JJ leaned down till his lips were close to your ear.
âBy the way, you look beautiful, sunshine.â
You turned your head away from him, trying to hide the smile that was stuck on your face.
A man stood in front of the door into the country club, blocking the way. He looked the pair of you up and down as you approached, picking every detail that set you and JJ apart from the Kooks. Despite dressing the part, you two didnât hold yourselves the same way the Kooks did.
âIâm sorry, but the club is closed for a private event,â The man said with a look that said âsorry, not sorry.â
âOh, weâre well aware. Weâre here to attend. Sorry, weâre running late, you know how women can be with their make-up,â JJ said, motioning to you. You lightly elbowed him while continuing to smile politely at the man.
âI understand, sir, butâŠthe event is at capacity. Maybe next year!â He said, giving you a snide smile. You glared at the man while JJ removed himself from your grasp.
âExcuse me, do you know who I am? My name is Charles Cameron, and I donât think my uncle, Ward Cameron, would be very happy if his favorite nephew didnât make it to his party. Especially a nephew who is visiting on his honeymoon and wants to show his wife the absolute best the Outer Banks has to offer.â
You felt your cheeks heat up as he referred to you as his wife. But you didnât have time to dwell on it as the man opened the door quickly. The look on his face made it clear he didnât want to take the chance of facing the wrath of Ward Cameron. JJ looped his arm with yours once again and led you inside, giving you a wink and a smirk after thanking the doorman.
âWow you really unleashed your inner Karen back there, Charles,â You laughed.
âNah, it was more of my inner Gretchen Wieners. Iâm so glad you made me watch that movie last week. I went all my father, the inventor of toaster strudel on his ass,â JJ said, putting on his best teen girl voice.
âI think we need sign you up for acting classes, youâre a natural!â
âClasses? Nah, sunshine. The master doesnât take classes, he teaches them.â
You threw your head back in laughter as he pulled you to the open bar. The pair of you ordered the fanciest and most expensive drink you could think of, trying your best to blend in with the Kooks surrounding you.
Sipping on your disgustingly expensive drinks, you moved through the crowd. You spotted John B and Sarah at he edge of the dance floor and led JJ toward them.
âWhat the hell are you doing here? Is that my suit?â John B questioned.
âItâs not like you were gonna wear it. Anyways, Y/N and I were no pissed that you guys abandoned us for this Kookfest, we decided to come crash your party. Free booze, dancing, the chance to fuck with some Kooks, itâs one hell of a honeymoon.â
He wrapped an arm around your waist and pulled you closer, giving John B an exaggerated smile.
âHoneymoon?â Sarah questioned, raising her eyebrows and giving you a sly smirk.
âYup. Oh, and, by the way, if anyone asks, Iâm your favorite cousin Charles. Okay, weâre gonna go find Kie. See you love birds later.â He led you away from the dance floor, but you didnât miss Sarah mouth weâll talk later at you. Â
Sarah was the one to help you realize your feelings for JJ. When she had first started dating John B, she has assume the two of you were dating. When she asked you about, you were disgusted. After asking her to elaborate as to why she believed you were dating your best friend, it became less and less disgusting. Suddenly, you realized that you very much wanted to date your best friend. That had been three years ago. Ever since, Sarah was constantly pestering you about telling JJ how you feel. She would always mention things that proved JJ felt the same way. From the way he looked at you, how protective he was of you, how he got jealous when anyone was even remotely interested in you. But no matter how much Sarah pointed out to you, you could never believe that JJ would want to be anything but friends.
The pair of you wandered around Midsummers. You eventually found Kie, who had escaped the center of the party by hiding by the grill with Pope. After complimenting your dress, then realizing it was her own, you were forced to explain how you kinda, sorta broke into her house. You and JJ escaped her wrath quickly, running to the other end of the party. You spent the next hour wandering around, drinking champagne and making shitty small talk with the Kooks who always found ways to rope you into conversations. JJ had somehow convinced a lady that the both of you were very wealthy entrepreneurs on the look out for new companies to invest in.
âSo, you do a lot of investing?â The lady, you think he name was Eleanor, asked.
âWe like to dabble. I recently invested in some shirts I got a garage sale. Left those at Wendyâs on the way home, so,â JJ raised his glass towards the women, giving her a serious look, âthe economy.â
You both let out the fakest rich laughs you could, causing the women to step away from you quickly. Your fake laughs turned into real giggles at the look the ladyâs face. You walked father away from the crowd learning against a wall near the edge of the party.
âWho knew Midsummers could be so fun,â You remarked, grinning at JJ. He smiled back, bumping shoulders with you. You dissolved into a comfortable silence, observing the party moving in front of you. You glanced toward the front of the club and noticed the doorman from watching you and JJ.
âJJ!â You tapped the boys shoulder and nodded toward the man. He looked at him quickly before looking back at you.
âI think itâs time for an acting lesson. Lesson one, method acting,â JJ said. He leaned forward, placing a hand on your cheek. For a second, it seems like his lips are heading straight for yours. You stomach flips as he gets closer. But he suddenly changes course, his lips landing on your cheek.
âI donât think thatâs what method acting is,â You said.
âItâs my method of acting,â He whispered in your ear, sending a shiver down your spine. He quickly pulled away, going back to leaning against the wall. You gave yourself a moment to calm your racing heart before looking back towards the doorman. He was no longer watching the pair of you, thankfully. You returned your attention towards the party, trying to ignore the tingle on your cheek where his lips has touched.
Your head perked up as the music changed, the band playing Dream a Little Dream of Me. You let out a content sigh.
âI love this song,â You said. JJ gazed at you, taking in the peaceful look on your beautiful face. He slowly took your hand in his and brought it up to his lips. He placed a gentle kiss on your knuckles as he met your eyes. Your breath caught in your throat at the intensity of his gaze and practically swooned at the tone of his voice has he quietly spoke.
âSunshine, would you like to dance?â
You could only nod, smiling at the boy as he led you to the dance floor. Your hands stayed clasped together, while your other hand rested on his shoulder. His hand landed dangerously low on your hip, gripping it and pulling you close. Your face was only about a foot from his, breath mingling as you swayed to the music.
âYou look beautiful tonight,â He whispered.
âYou already said that,â You whispered back.
âAnd Iâll say it again.â He grinned at you, pulling away to give you space to twirl before pulling you back in, closer than before.
âGod, you deserve this. Not having to worry about a thing. Getting to wear beautiful dresses and go to glamorous parties. Why do people like Rafe Cameron, the living equivalent of trash, get to enjoy this shit while you, a literal goddess among women, gets stuck on the Cut with trash like me.â He glanced down has he spoke, refusing to meet your eyes. You placed your hand under his chin, lifting it to look at you.
âIâm glad this wasnât my life. Because if I was stuck on Figure 8 I never would have had met you. Iâm glad Iâm stuck on the Cut, because I get to stuck with the coolest people I know. Even now, if I were given the chance to go Full Kook, I wouldnât go anywhere unless you were with me.â
JJ looked at you, mouth agape. Your hand moved from his chin to his cheek. You started to move in, as did JJ, breath picking up the closer you got. Suddenly, a hand slammed onto JJâs shoulder, making both of freeze.
âEnjoying your honeymoon, nephew?â Ward Cameron spoke from behind JJ. JJ looked in your eyes and smirked.
âWell honey, looks like weâre heading home early.â
Out of the corner of your eye, you saw a few security guards making their way towards you. JJ gripped your hand and began running off the dance floor. You ran with him, laughing as he antagonized the security guards chasing after you. You kicked off your shoes as you ran, making a note in your head to apologize to Kie later. The two of you weaved through the crowd, running down the beach and into a grouping of trees. JJ suddenly pulled you to the side pressing you up against a tree. You could hear the the security guards talking at the edge of the woods.
âJust make sure they donât make it back in.â One of them said, before walking away. You barely paid attention to the security guards, though, too busy staring into JJâs eyes. You both were breathing heavily after your daring escape. JJâs hair was a mess, falling into his eyes. He licked his lips, eyes moving from your eyes to your mouth. You reached up to brush his hair back. Hi hand caught your wrist, pulling you closer to him before his hands wrapped around your waist. His lips crashed onto yours  hungrily. You kissed him back with equal fervor, hands tangling in his hair and forcing his head closer. He tasted sweet and bubbly like the champagne you had consumed the night. He tasted like the stars, beautiful and sparkling and like a dream.
When you finally parted to catch your breath. His hand move up to your face, cupping your cheeks.
âI love you, Y/N. It may be selfish, but Iâm so glad you got stuck on the Cut with me. Being around you makes me feel like I can be anything and that I donât belong dead in a ditch somewhere. And for so long I thought I could handle just being friends, but I canât fucking do it anymore. I want kiss you and hold you and make you feel good!You are my fucking sunshine and I want to give you everything you deserve. I may not be able to give it to you now, but, if youâll let me, I will stop at nothing to give you everything.â
You were frozen. Tears were gather at the corner of your eyes as you took in his words. One of your hands moved to cover JJâs on your cheek. You gave him a watery grin.
âJJ, youâre here in front of me. I already have everything.â
He smiled and captured your lips once again, silently thanking the universe for putting you in his life.
Canât Go Back Part 17
A/N: This chapter is pretty fluffy. We get a glimpse at how they are moving forward in their relationship since their fight. Iâm planning on uploading a part from Montyïżœïżœs perspective about what heâs doing Friday after school tomorrow or sometime this weekend. I hope you enjoy. Feedback is appreciated as always and much love. -EmÂ
I spent the next week actively not checking my emails. I was too afraid to even consider if I would get emails about schools yet. Â It had only been a week. But you never know. In an attempt to keep my mind off of the fact that my entire future was now completely and totally out of my control, I tried to fill my time with normalcy. Things I normally did. Things that Monty and I normally did. That normalcy now included carving out an hour and a half for Montyâs physio three days a week, but we made it work.
I tried to get back into my routine. For the most part, I went to bed at the same time every night. Some days Monty went with me, other days he stayed up and did stuff for a while. But he came to bed every night. I went to the game Friday night. Scott and Charlie came over for brunch on Saturday. Justin came over to see his new best friend, I mean me, on Sunday because he picked up a shift Saturday morning. Monty and I did our own things together in the evenings during the week. I pretended to read while he played video games one night. Secretly, I was just watching him. For some reason watching people play video games was highly entertaining. We just did normal things.
We also went grocery shopping Saturday. âAre you sure you want to come with me?â I asked again.
âYes, Iâm sure Addison. Besides, we are over halfway to the store. Itâs a little late to change my mind now.â
âOkay. Remember the list please.â
âI know. Thereâs a list and we get whatâs on the list.â
âExactly.â
At the store, I grabbed a cart and dug through my purse for the list and my pen. Monty took the cart from me without asking. I feigned an affronted look. He smirked back. Cocky bastard. I can already tell this is going to be so fun. I opened my mouth to speak when we got inside. âList, I know. And yes. I remember youâre going to make us get vegetables.â
âAnd you have to get at least one that you like.â He pouted. âYou like carrots.â I offered.
âFine.â He muttered. We are in a dramatic mood today. It was so peaceful when I went by myself. But I missed this. Monty went and put exactly five bulk carrots in a bag. Not wanting to fight him on carrots, I didnât say anything. As usual, I was in charge of the rest of our vegetables.
The aisles were an easier task. There were no evil scary vegetable that I would have to force him to eat. I quickly scanned down the list as we entered each aisle. Carefully, everything was placed in the cart just so. âWe need this.â Monty said, grabbing a box of cheese its.
âIs it on the list?â In response, he plucked the list and pen from my hand, and scribbled it on.
âIt is now.â I rolled my eyes and grinned as he handed it back to me. His cheeky grin made me blush. I turned my back and pretended to look at something when we got to the fruit snack aisle and ignored the telltale thud of a box, make that two boxes, of fruit snacks being chucked in the cart. He didnât write them on the list.
We both cringed at the price of meat, as usual. But we needed it so there wasnât a whole lot we could do. I crossed things off that had been missed as we were filling the cart. Thankfully, it didnât seem like the store was out of anything. âOh, we need butter.â I muttered.
âIs it on the list?â Monty smirked. Like he had done earlier with the crackers, I quickly wrote it down.
âYes.â I grinned. He grinned and stopped to kiss me on the cheek.
âI love you.â
âI love you too. Now letâs get this done so we can go home and do nothing.â
âYour wish is my command.â There was even a dramatic wave of his arm to accompany his attempt to woo.
âYou are so fucking cheesy. Iâm telling the guys about that one.â
âAh, come on Addison. You love it.â
I went to grab a couple of pounds of butter and decided I could trust my adult husband to get some bread and jam on his own. When I found him in the bakery with our cart, I remembered that I married an overgrown child. There was bread. And there was jam. And also, cookies. Four different kinds of cookies. And a thing of strudel. Which, to be honest, I wasnât that upset about because itâs like the best pastry. But the point is that it was there.
âI asked you to get bread and jam. Not half of the baked goods in the store.â
âBut cookies are delicious Addison. And you like their chocolate chip cookies. And for some reason I still donât understand, plain oatmeal cookies. Donât even lie and say the strudel was a bad idea.â
âSo, the sugar cookies and M&M ones are just to look pretty on the counter?â
âNo. Those ones are for me.â
âI married a fuckinâ child.â I muttered softly. We turned when we heard a quiet chuckle behind us. A cute little old couple was watching our interaction with giant smiles.
âMine still does the same thing dearie.â The woman said to me.
âRemember, we donât grow up. We just get bigger.â The man smiled.
âIâm beginning to realize.â I laughed.
âSee. I told you.â Monty smirked. As if to prove the point they were making, we watched as the man grabbed a container of lemon rolls and placed them in his cart. The woman gave him an exaggerated, exasperated look.
âWait, how long have the two of you been married?â I asked when they passed us.
âSixty-five years.â They said together, smiling fondly at each other. Wow. Thatâs amazing. I was still smiling when we got to the till and checked out.
Our normal routines continued for the rest of the week. School, physio, make dinner, sports, spend time together. The normalcy of it was refreshing.
âYouâre scratching.â Monty said offhandedly, without looking up from his notes.
âAm not.â
âYou stopped typing five minutes ago Addison.â
âIâm thinking.â
âAnd scratching.â I rolled my eyes and didnât respond. I started typing aggressively loud to try and get a rise out of him instead. He didnât respond at all. Not even an annoyed muscle twitch. We arenât there yet. Okay. Montyâs phone buzzed on the coffee table beside me. I ignored it. It buzzed again. And then again. Before I could reach for it, he had hobble run over and snatched it out of my reach. I looked at him quizzically. He was trying to think of a reason to be hiding his phone from me. What is going on?
âItâs guy stuff. Jamie is having⊠girl troubles.â
âGirl troubles.â
âYeah. His girlfriend but not girlfriend or something is doing stuff.â
âSomething and stuff.â
âYes. So, uh. Iâll be over⊠over there.â He motioned back to the kitchen table. âYou know, dealing with girl troubles.â
âRight.â That was weird. Also, heâs going to pay for the movement in the morning. I went back to my writing and not scratching quietly. Occasionally I would look up over my laptop at Monty. He seemed to be very engrossed in his notes.
âHey Addison?â
âHmm?â
âSince the game got cancelled some of us are going over to Jamieâs place tomorrow after school.â
ââKay.â
âBecause girl troubles.â
âYeah.â
âAnd stop scratching. Youâll only make the rash worse.â
The next morning, I skipped a shower. Cuddles were too enticing. It was a Friday so I didnât feel like I had to look all cute. While Monty made himself a smoothie, I grabbed one of his shirts to wear because it was loose enough that it wouldnât irritate the rash. It finally started to clear up. But now it itches. As though he could hear my thoughts, he called from the kitchen, âstop scratching.â
âBite me.â I called back.
âIf you donât stop scratching, I will.â
âIs that a threat or a promise?â He looked up when he heard me come in the room.
âI was going to wear that today.â
âYou have like⊠fifty more in your half of the closet.â
âI know mum is a history professor, but dad is a businessman. I know he taught you fractions. What I have is not half of the closet.â I merely shrugged. He waved towards the bowl beside the blender. âChunky monkey with smooth peanut butter.â I sat and took a bite.
âYum. I love you.â
âI love you too.â
âDonât worry about washing the blender. Iâll do it after school.â
âYou sure?â
âYeah.â
School was pretty boring. It was the middle of November, so we were in the awkward not quite midterms but not quite ready for a new unit time. I met Monty at my locker after the last bell. He was waiting for me with Justin and Jamie. âHey baby.â
âHey babe. You guys have fun tonight, okay?â
âYes Maâam.â Jamie saluted. I shuddered. Monty tried to stifle a laugh.
âJamie. Do me a favour and never do that again.â I placed a couple of textbooks in my locker. âIâll see you at home. Can you stop and grab baking powder on your way home tonight?â
âSure.â
âWhy canât you stop? Youâre going straight there.â Justin asked.
âI have a date with a bubble bath.â
âOoh la la.â Jamie laughed.
âI guess. Didnât shower this morning and a bath is better for my itching.â
âOh?â Justin asked.
âIâll explain later.â I muttered. He furrowed his brow and looked at Monty. I kissed Monty goodbye.
At home, I went to wash my face so I could do the expensive face mask I had been saving for a night alone. I did an exfoliating treatment first and ran my bath. A few scented candles were set on our master bathroom counter and I poured myself a glass of raspberry juice. The book I had been meaning to get around to reading was sitting on the toilet for easy access. Okay fine. One of the books I had been meaning to read. It was very relaxing. I had to dig in the cabinet for my body scrub but found it behind a backup pack of deodorant from Costco. Luckily, the bubble bath was also right there. I poured some in to give it time to foam.
With my face mask done and washed off, I undressed and settled in the tub. The water was boiling hot, just the way I liked it. I sighed and sipped my juice, enjoying a night alone. When the husband is away, wife will pamper. The hot water helped to calm my itching skin. The scrub made my legs nice and smooth before I shaved them and exfoliated a second time. Once the necessaries were taken care of, I could start to relax. Picking up my book, I settled in for the foreseeable future. My book was so interesting and immersive, I completely lost track of time. I was still in the tub when Monty got home. âAddison?â He called when he didnât find me in the kitchen.
âIâm in the bath.â I called back.
âOkay.â He was opening and closing drawers in our room. He poked his head in the bathroom. âDo you want a glass of water or anything? How long have you been in there?â I paused for a moment to consider. How long had it been?
âWhat time is it?â
âAlmost seven.â My eyes widened.
âReally? Then yeah, Iâll take a glass of water. Iâm going to get out right away.â He shut the door behind him and I threw my book across to the door so it didnât get wet when I got out of the tub.
Once dry and moisturized, I left the bathroom in search of my husband. I found him on the couch scrolling aimlessly through his phone. âI missed you.â I bent behind the back of the couch to kiss his cheek.
âI missed you too. You look very cozy in your fuzzy pyjamas.â
âWhy thank you.â I curtsied. He laughed happily. Settling next to him, I laid my head in his lap.
âHow was your bath?â
âAmazing. Very relaxing. Oh! And I exfoliated and shaved my legs.â I grinned and lifted my pants leg. âFeel!â
Again, Monty laughed and shook his head. He still reached out and rubbed my leg though. âVery soft and smooth.â
âHow was girl problems?â
âI think theyâre resolved. It wasnât as major or as difficult as we thought.â
âThatâs good.â I peeked at his phone. He was watching football injury videos. Oh Sweetie. âHey, howâs your knee?â
âItâs okay. Physio has been helping.â
âIâm glad.â He seemed to realize then that I wasnât just asking for an update on his progress.
âOh. Iâm just watching this because some of them are funny.â
âFunny?â
âYeah.â He restarted the video and adjusted his position so I could see too. He was right. Some of them were pretty funny.
It was family brunch Saturday the next day. Scott, Charlie, and Justin all came over. As usual, the four young men were more than happy to eat relatively work free. Monty did have to help me reach a few things and our guests helped set the table. But for the most part, I did the work. It was relaxing for me. Monty still felt a little uncomfortable having me do most of the work in the kitchen, but I didnât mind. It was my choice to do it. I enjoyed it. And it made things much smoother when I was working solo.
Since it was just a casual pancake breakfast this week and just the five of us, I didnât really feel a need to shower before they came over. Â As such, I was still in my pyjamas most of the morning. They didnât mind. We hung out for a while after brunch together. By the time everyone was getting ready to leave around two, I decided it was time to shower and make myself feel like a human again. âIâm running Scottâs place for a bit. We have a couple of things to go over with Charlie for next weekâs game.â Monty explained when I was going to shower.
âNo problem. Iâll just be here writing or reading or something.â From the bathroom I could hear him putzing around our room. I didnât think too much of it. He was probably looking for a playbook or something.
After my shower, I wrapped my towels around me, fully prepared to throw on a pair of leggings and an oversized sweater for the rest of the day. Instead, I was puzzled to find a large white box in the centre of the bed. There was a bow and a single pink Post it note stuck to the lid. It simply said wear me on it in blue ink. I frowned in confusion but opened it anyway. Nestled inside was a classic, Hepburn-esque little black dress. I gasped and covered my mouth in shock. Gently lifting the dress out of the box I held it out at armâs length to examine it. It was beautiful. This man is full of surprises. Not wanting to wrinkle the dress, I carefully set it on the bed while I grabbed a hanger.
Once it was hung up, I put on a pair of sweats and an old pyjama shirt. In the kitchen, I found another note next to the coffee machine. This one was on a yellow Post it, also in blue ink. No coffee. Look up. I frowned again. Why no coffee? Looking up on the underside of the cabinet, I found another yellow Post it. This one had an arrow pointing towards the living room. There, yet another Post it. This one was blue. There was another arrow pointing at the coat closet. A green Post it was stuck to the closet door. Be ready at 5:00. Wear your matching black pointy shoes. Now I was even more confused. Well, it says be ready. I shrugged and checked my watch. It was just past two. I rolled my eyes at the coffee note and made myself a cup anyway. I wouldnât need to be up all night, but note be damned. I wanted coffee. I savoured it while I let my thoughts run wild of what could be in store for my night. At home fancy dress dinner? Going out for dinner? A walk in the financial district in the city? Hmmm. By two forty-five, I had finished my coffee and started getting ready.
I carefully put on the dress after I had washed my face again. I decided to curl my hair in tight ringlets so that when I brushed them out, they wouldnât fall flat immediately. I let them set while I did my makeup. So, I didnât get makeup all over my dress, I draped a towel around my neck to cover it. The simple black cat eye and blue red lipstick paired wonderfully with the classic, timeless style of the dress. A neutral blush and light bronzer added colour and balance to complete the look. I carefully brushed out the curls into nice waves framing my face. Using a decorative bobby pin, I pulled my bangs away from my face. Exiting our room after putting on my tennis bracelet-a birthday gift from my Gran a couple of years ago- I looked at the clock on the stove. It was four fifty. I had ten minutes to spare. Slipping on my heels, I went through my wallet and took out my ID and credit card. I had assumed that we would be going out and Monty usually kept my cards in his wallet.
The sound of a car pulling into our driveway pulled me from my thoughts. I opened the door when the car door shut. Monty was walking up to the house in a very familiar white dress shirt and black slacks. Damn, he cleans up good. I thought it every time he dressed up, no matter how often I saw it. His eyes widened slightly, and he stopped to take in my look. I stopped him in his tracks. I blushed and did a little twirl. He whistled through his teeth. âYou look. Absolutely amazing.â
âYou look incredible. Have I ever told you, you clean up really well?â
âOnce or twice.â He shrugged. I smiled widely. He finished his walk up to the house and took my hands in his, really taking the time to take me in. âYou really do look beautiful Addison.â
âThank you.â I blushed again. My engagement ring sparkled in the setting sun. Montyâs black tungsten ring felt cool in my hand. Together, we walked to the car. We took my car, but I let him drive. Itâs our insurance. âAre you going to tell me where we are going?â
âNope.â He said as he pulled out of the driveway.
âOkay.â We chatted quietly on the way to our mystery location. Given the time, I assumed we were going to a restaurant. When we got closer to the county limits, I realized we were going into the city for dinner. I watched the cars speeding past us on the highway in the other direction. People were eager to be getting home from spending their days shopping or running errands.
I tried to figure out where we were going once we got to the city based on the turns Monty made. I was familiar with most of the downtown and financial districts due to visiting my dad at work when I was younger. I was a little surprised when he pulled in the parking lot for the new Italian place that opened last month. I wasnât surprised because I was concerned about cost or anything like that. We just werenât really fancy restaurant people very often. It was a pleasant surprise.
When he parked, we walked hand in hand to the door. He was a perfect gentleman and held the door not only for me but for the couple behind us. I smiled at him while we waited to be seated. He squeezed my hand. We were seated at a more secluded table, closer to the back of the restaurant. The table was lit by candlelight and dim recessed lighting in the aisle. Itâs beautiful. Our waiter came by and introduced himself as Anthony. I ordered a cranberry juice with ice and Monty got a Coke. Anthony gave us a few minutes with the menus. As soon as I saw traditional carbonara on the menu, I had made a firm decision. Monty and I sat in comfortable silence while we perused the menu. Even though I knew what I wanted, it never hurt to look at the other options.
After we ordered-carbonara for me and lobster ravioli for Monty-Anthony left us to our evening. âThis is really nice.â I said, after a sip of my juice.
âI figured we deserved nice. Or rather, you deserved nice. After everything⊠and I know youâve been stressed about school. So, I figured you could use a night off.â He left the obvious tension between us and the cause for it unsaid. We both knew the reason.
âItâs still nice. And we do deserve it. This dress is beautiful by the way.â
âI thought you would like it.â
âWhen exactly did you acquire it?â I asked, with a sly raise of my brow.
âAbout yesterdayâŠâ Montgomery began, âJamie wasnât having girl troubles.â
âI kind of figured. Have they even decided if they have anything to have troubles over?â
âNo. Theyâre still not together. But they go places together and buy each other things. And have sex. Apparently, there is a lot of sex.â
âBut they arenât dating.â
âNo.â
âMaybe he is having girl troubles.â
âMaybe.â He chuckled. Anthony came by with our orders. Unsurprisingly, the food was delicious. Mouth wateringly delicious. My eyes widened in ecstasy. So did Montyâs after he took a bite of his own food. We each shared a bite with each other and smiled. So good. So so good.
We spent the rest of our evening talking and enjoying being with each other. It was very nice. We hadnât gotten to do the whole going out and just being together thing in a while. I pushed the last of my carbonara around on my plate. I wasnât bored exactly. I was having a wonderful time. âHey. Whereâd you go?â Monty reached across the table to take my hand.
âOh. Nowhere. I was just thinking.â
âPenny for your thoughts?â
âThis is really nice.â I paused.
âButâŠ?â
âI would honestly much rather be at home in sweatpants watching the new episodes of Law & Order from the other night.â
âMe too.â He giggled. I couldnât help but giggle along with him. He motioned to our waiter for the bill. The black holder was placed in between us. Monty placed some cash inside and set it down without so much as a glance at me. He helped me with my coat and took my hand after he put on his own. As soon as we got out of the restaurant, I stopped and turned to him.
âRace you to the car.â I grinned before taking off like a bat out of hell. I heard him bark out a laugh behind me. I didnât look back. Nor did I turn when I heard his footsteps. He wasnât running because of his knee. They were getting closer though. Even without running, he was able to gain on me because of his gait. Â Running in heels was not the easiest thing in the world but I managed to beat him to the car. When he arrived with the keys, I was grinning at him, triumphantly from the passengerâs side. âI won.â
âYes you did.â He was grinning back at me.
When we got home, the two of us changed into our comfiest sweatpants and t-shirts. I threw on my old Tigers hoodie and popped a bag of popcorn in the microwave after taking off my makeup. Monty pulled up the recorded episodes. I couldnât tell if he wore his grey sweats on purpose or not. We got comfortable on the couch and hit play. From the get-go this episode of SVU had both of us on the edge of our seats. The popcorn was mostly untouched. I teared up multiple times. When it was over, I ripped the remote from the coffee table and scrolled up to the new episode of Organized Crime. I couldnât stand to wait any longer than strictly necessary. Our eyes were glued to the screen for the whole hour, minus the fast forwarding through commercials. By the end, we turned to each other in shock. âWow.â Was all I could say about it.
âThe new theme song is pretty great.â
âYes. I donât know how to process any other thoughts about it though.â
âMe either.â
âVery worth the wait.â Monty only nodded in response. I yawned and stretched. It was getting pretty late. The afternoon coffee I had wore off a while ago.
âTired Bookworm?â I yawned again and nodded. Monty carried me to bed and tucked me in. I cuddled up beside him.
Before falling asleep I mumbled, âthank you for tonight. Was really nice. Niâ night.â
Main MasterlistÂ
A/N: Hey peeps, I know it has been ages since I updated this, but here I am with an update. By the way, when you see â~â, it means its switching to past and then when you see another one, it goes back to present. And I got all my info from google and tv shows for this chapter so if it is not entirely right, Iâm sorry. This is the last chapter. I have an epilogue planned also. I hope you enjoy this!
Jude felt pain ripple through her stomach and then felt wetness down her leg. She looked down expecting it her water to have broken but instead she was met with blood. As the pain intensified, the blood got worse.
âCardan.â âCardan!â
At that moment she realized she was at home alone. She went looking everywhere for her phone. Finally, she found it on the kitchen island, and called for an ambulance immediately. She called Cardan next telling him to either hurry and come home, something is wrong with the baby, or meet her at the hospital when the ambulance arrives.
Cardan hurried home from his job. He got there after the ambulance arrived. He went with her to the hospital and she was admitted quickly. They needed to do an emergency C-section before anything worse happens to the baby. They rolled Jude to the operation room, Cardan right behind her getting dressed in sterile paper clothes.
She gave birth to her baby, and the whole room was silent. You could hear a pin drop. Jude began asking, âWhy isnât she crying?â She looked to Cardan who had tears running down his cheeks and she knew her worst fears were being confirmed. She started to scream, âNo, no, noâŠâ
âNo!
âJude!â Cardan put his hands on her cheeks. âWake up, baby. Itâs a dream.â
Jude opens her eyes, tears falling out. Her breath coming in pants.
âTake a deep breath with me.â
Jude copies Cardan breaths. After she is calmed down, Jude says quietly, âShe was dead and I couldn't do anything about it.â
Cardan knew what she was talking about. He put his hand on her very swollen stomach, âLook she's okay. You feel her kicking and moving around in there?â A nod of her head. âThat means she is happy and healthy in there. There is nothing to worry about.â
~~~ Jude is 38 weeks now. Sheâs now very round, extremely emotional, and has crazy nightmares all the time. Cardan is always there to comfort and care for her around the clock.
Two months ago Jude and Cardan moved into the house his dad had bought for them as a gift. It was a two story house with 5 bedrooms and 3 full baths. They decided to get a house where they could live forever. A house they could fit their ever growing family.
Cardan got closer to his dad. His dad finally met him halfway into wanting a relationship with him. They met at least once a week for dinner or coffee. Cardan got a job at his company, a very good paying job. Unfortunately for Jude, Madoc still hasnât wanted to mend their relationship, but Jude is okay with it. She doesnât want someone that doesnât want her.
When Christmas came around five months ago, they decided to have everyone get them baby stuff rather than presents for themselves. They basically had a baby shower for Christmas. Jude liked it because she is not a fan of planning parties or events.
Itâs now the end of May, and Cardan and Jude finally graduated from college. They got to do virtual college because of the current predicament they were in. They only had to go to some classes, but mostly they did it from home. Definitely this last month, Jude just wasnât feeling up to do stuff. She is always tired and sore, and just needs to take it easy. ~~~
Jude looked back at Cardan as he wiped her tears away and put her hand over her stomach to feel her baby kick. She repeated Cardanâs words, âSheâs okay. Sheâs okay. Sheâs okay.â
Cardan kissed her cheek. And rubbed her back as Jude processed everything.
Then she grunted, âI need to pee. So help me up before I pee in the bed.â
Cardan laughed before he got out of bed and helped Jude steady her feet on the floor.
~~~ Jude has to pee a lot. Cardan swears she has to pee every 20 minutes. Which means Cardan has to help her every 20 minutes. But he doesnât complain to her, itâs half his fault that she does, but he wouldnât change it for the world.
Cardan never realized how hard it was on women to grow a baby. He thought they just gained weight and got tired but no, he was wrong. He didnât know how uncomfortable Jude would be as time got closer. He didnât realize how swollen her feet would become, how sore her back would be, the amount of loss sleep because the baby was restless or she was too uncomfortable. It made Jude so strong in his eyes.
Judeâs chosen family, Van, Liliver, and Garret, and her blood/adoptive family, Taryn and Vivivenne, were always there for her. And her family was excited to see their niece and become aunts and uncles. Her chosen family was surprised when Jude came to them and mentioned about them being aunts and uncles for her little one. She explained to them that they were more than just best friends. They were more like brothers and sisters to her. They all had an unbreakable bond with each other.
Jude and Cardan have set up the nursery. Jude insisted that she wanted a faerie book style room. And Cardan gave that to her. Itâs a room any little girl would want, and when it came to Cardan, he would give anything both of his girls asked. But seeing Cardan trying to put baby furniture together was the best thing Jude has ever seen. She sat in a rocking chair every night watching him struggle, it was the best entertainment. At one point, he decided to call for backup, and Van and Garret came in and helped. So then Jude got to watch all three of them struggle together. But they eventually got it put together.
Jude has started to have Braxton-Hicks contractions for about a month and a half. Cardan hates them. Everytime she has one and she stills, he starts to freak out and Jude has to tell him itâs fine and calm down. Itâs not like he feels the pain from them. But Jude is secretly happy heâs there for her and he cares so much about how she feels. ~~~ Once Jude goes to the bathroom, she asks Cardan if he will make breakfast for her. Her breakfast included popping some toaster strudels in the toaster and putting the rich icing on top. Jude basically has been craving anything sweet. So if itâs sweet, Jude wants it.
They eat breakfast and Jude decides to go to the baby room and go through stuff/ organize. She is nesting. She has gone through the hospital bag about three times already, sheâs organized the kitchen several times, she cleans everything that she is able to, demanding Cardan to clean the stuff she canât. And again, Cardan does it, because he doesnât want to be on Judeâs bad side at the moment.
When Jude was resting from her organizing, Cardan got ready and left for work for his dadâs company. Cardan insisted that he stay with her until the baby is born but she said she would be fine alone. In the end, Liliver came over the days Cardan had to work. Liliver liked to call it their âgirl timeâ before the baby got there.
It was about 7 oâclock pm when Jude decided to get a shower. Cardan was off at 8, and he was bringing home food which was right up her alley.
Now dressed in her pajamas, which consisted to be some stretchy legging and Cardanâs t-shirt, she made her way back to the bedroom. When she met the threshold of the bathroom and bedroom, she felt wetness run down her leg. She paused. All she could think was âIs this really it?â
She called for Liliver. âHey, Bomb!â
Liliver was there in a couple of seconds. She saw Judeâs pale face and immediately asked, âWhatâs wrong?â
Jude stuttered, âUmm I- I think my water broke.â
Liliver looked down and saw the puddle of water gathered at her feet. âOh okay, yeah. So, letâs just go sit down on the bed, Iâll clean that off the floor, and Iâll go call Cardan, okay?â
They slowly made their way to the bed. Liliver got a towel and put it over the fluid to dry it up, and got her phone out and called the man of the hour.
âHey Cardan, I need to come home. Now.â
There was a pause. And then he seemed to find his words, âUh, why? Whatâs wrong?â
âWell, all I have to say is âare you ready to go have a baby?â Judeâs water broke.â
Heavy, nervous breathing came back to her, âOh my gosh, really? Okay, okay, Iâm leaving now. Is she okay? Crap, no sheâs probably not okay, what am I thinking, sheâs having a baby. Do I need-â
Liliver stopped his rambling, âCardan, stop, Jude needs you to come home. Everythingâs okay right now. Iâve got it handled.â
âOkay, Iâm leaving right now.â With that he hung up.
Bomb helped Jude get some shoes on and braided her hair so it was out of her face. Knowing if it was down, all her hair would stick to her face from the sweat that was already starting to bead on her head as her contraction got stronger.
After she finished having one, Liliver asked, âJude, have you been having contractions today?â
Panting, she said, âYeah. I thought it was just Braxton-Hicks contractions, but I guess I was wrong.â
âWhy didnât you tell us? Cardan would have stayed home with you.â
Jude glared at her. âExactly, Cardan would have stayed home and fussed over me. I donât want someone taking care of me, Iâm a big girl.â No, what Jude didnât say is that sheâs scared. And saying it aloud makes everything a reality, and she is not ready to admit that yet.
Not fifteen minutes later, Cardan comes through the front door. He walks quickly to their bedroom. He sees Liliver and Jude on the bed. The former rubbing Judeâs back through her contractions.
Cardan bends down in front of her and gives her cheek a kiss. He grabs her hand and waits till the contraction passes, rubbing small circles on the back of her hand.
When it is over with, he tells Jude, âIâm going to change my clothes real quick, and we will head out, okay?â
Jude nods her head. Cardan can tell how nervous and stressed she is.
He gets up, changes into some sweat pants and t-shirt, puts some Nike high tops on, and goes back to Jude, bending down in front of her, âOkay, you ready?â
Tears immediately fill her eyes, which isnât a shock, she cries about everything these days, but when her body starts to shake with nervousness, Cardan knows this isnât her just being an emotional basket case.
He immediately has his hands cupping her cheeks, âHey Love, what is it? Whatâs wrong?â
A sob wracked through her, âIâm scared, Cardan, Iâm so scared. What if I fail her? What if something goes wrong?â
He put his hands on either side of her stomach, âHey Iâm scared too. But guess what? We get to meet our little princess today or tomorrow, and thatâs all that matters. She is going to be so loved. Youâre going to be an amazing mom, I know you will be. She is going to love you so much. Itâs okay to be scared, but donât doubt yourself.â He gave a kiss on the lips. âYouâre so strong, nothing is going to go wrong.â
Jude opened her mouth to reply, but at that moment a contraction hit her, and the words dissipated from her lips. But Cardan was there to rub her back, and tell her to breathe.
After it was over, Cardan grabbed the baby bag from the living room and headed out to the car with Jude. Liliver promised she would clean up a few things and lock the house before she leaves. Cardan thanked her, internally grateful for such a friend.
Cardan helped Jude into the car, and then got into the driver's seat. He blew out a big breath, and a wide smile bloomed on his face. He looked at Jude and said, âLetâs go have a baby.â He leaned across the middle and put his hand on Judeâs belly and kissed her lips excitingly. It made Jude smile right back.
The car ride wasnât too bad. Even though Jude grunted and cursed, she didnât complain once. She held onto Cardanâs hand while he drew circles on top of it, asking if she was okay. Which just aggravated her.
Once arriving at the hospital, the nurses took her back to a room. The room had machines, obviously a hospital bed, a chair for Cardan, and in the corner was a little bed for the baby to be checked out in. It was so surreal to them.
Cardan helped Jude change into her hospital gown, and helped her lay in the bed. The nurse came and put monitors on her stomach, one looked at the babyâs heartbeat and the other could tell when contractions came and how strong they were. The nurse then started on IV to put her on some fluids.
Doctor Tatterfell came in to check how far she was dilated. Which was a 5, she couldnât believe she was already halfway there. Hence, she has been having contractions since this morning so I guess it does make sense.
But now, at 10pm, the contractions hurt bad. She held Cardanâs hand like it was her last lifeline. And Cardan, the ever encouraging boyfriend, let her, and he massaged her back and whispered sweet nothings about how good she was doing and how strong she is.
She got into different positions throughout the hours to try and relieve some of the stabbing pain that pursued every 5 minutes.
After finishing having one, Jude said, âCardan, next time massage my lower stomach and my lower back at the same time. It might help.â
So thatâs what Cardan did. It seemed to be the best right now to relieve some pain. Soon a nurse came in asking if she wanted an epidural which she immediately said yes.
They again checked to see how dilated she was, and they told her she was at a seven, and then they went ahead and gave the epidural.
Soon, Jude was numb from the belly button and down. Cardan held her hand as the needle went into her back. He couldnât believe how big the needle was though, he was very nervous for her, not that he would tell her that. But she took it like a champ. Cardan let her know that much too.
Now she was laying back down, getting in a comfortable position on her side. Cardan wiped a cold rag on her forehead, she had sweat quite a bit in the last three hours.
He laid the rag down on a tray and muttered, âYouâre doing so good, baby. Iâm so proud of you. Rest now while you can, okay? Iâll be right here if you need me.â He was going to sit in the chair they had provided him.
Jude spoke quietly, âYou rest too.â Jude ran a hand over her stomach. âI have a feeling we wonât be sleeping much tomorrow.â She smiled up at Cardan.
Cardan softly laughed and kissed her lips right before he went down and kissed her belly.
Soon they both were resting and asleep. Jude got about 2 hours when she started to feel the numbness wear off. She didnât wake up Cardan, wanting him to get as much needed sleep as he could get.
Taryn came in while they were still sleeping. Jude wanted someone there that could document this moment, and Taryn said she would happily record and take pictures of this monumental day.
But soon, the pain increased, which means her groans of pain got louder. Unfortunately, she couldnât keep it quiet enough, and Cardan heard it. He rushed to her side and grabbed her hand.
After the pain subsided a little, she called out, âI feel a lot of pressure, Cardan.â
His eyebrows shot up, âYou feel like you need to push?â
She nodded her head.
Cardan spoke quickly, âOkay, wait just a second, let me get a nurse.â
Cardan opened the door, went out the hall a little bit and got a nurse. In no time, Judeâs team of nurses and her doctor came into the room.
Doctor Tatterfell checked her and said, âOkay Jude, when you feel another contraction go ahead and push.â
Some nurses held her legs back while Cardan held her hand and let her squeeze it to the point of it feeling like it was breaking.
After 15 minutes of pushing, Cardan muttered into her ear, âYouâre doing so good, Jude. Iâm so proud of you. Youâre almost done.â Cardan could tell how tired she was.
She pushed again and panted, âI canât. I canât push anymore. It hurts and Iâm so tired.â
Cardan looked past her legs and back at Jude, âJude, honey, you can do this. Sheâs almost here. Sheâs already crowning. We just need a few big pushes, and sheâs here. I know it hurts, and youâre tired, but itâs going to be so worth it when this is all done.â Tears started to well up in his eyes.
Jude put a determined look on her face and breathed in deep, and pushed.
Cardan mumbled to her, holding her hand, âPush, push, push, push. Good job, baby.â
This happened two more times, and on the third push, Jude felt relief. She then heard her baby girl crying, and her baby was placed on her chest. She gathered her up in her arms, admiring the little body that wailed with life.
She couldnât help the tears that fell from her eyes, couldnât help the sob that tore from her throat. She heard the nurse ask Cardan âDad, would like to cut the cord.â
He did, and turned back to his girls. Jude heard a sob to her right, and turned her head to see Cardan with the widest smile on his face, tears falling from his eyes.
Cardan looked at Jude, kissed her forehead, kissed the babyâs head and said, âSheâs so beautiful.â
Jude sniffed. âShe is.â
They took the baby away to be checked by the nurses and doctors while they cleaned Jude up from the rest of the birthing part.
Taryn was still there and did her part. She took pictures and recorded like she was supposed to. She cried while she did it. This was an experience she would never forget.
They weighed the baby and checked her height. She was 7.4 lb and was 19 inches long. Born on May 28, 2020 at 1:09 am.
Soon the nurse came back over with the baby. âOkay. Here she is.â She gave the baby to Jude. âDo you plan to bottle or breastfeed?â
âI plan to breastfeed.â
âOkay then let's see how she does.â
The nurse helped her get the baby to latch, it took a couple of tries but she did it. After the nurse saw everything was going well, she left the room along with Taryn to give the family some alone time.
Cardan cupped the babyâs head as she fed from where he stood, âJude, you baffle me. You brought this sweet baby girl into the world, and you did amazing. You did amazing carrying her for the last 9 months. And now we get a lifetime of happiness together.â He gently grabbed Judeâs chin from where she was looking at the baby so she would look at him. âJude Duarte, marry me.â
Judeâs eyes widened and she whispered, âWhat?â
âYou make me the happiest man in the world. I want to live with you forever, I want to raise our children together as husband and wife. I want to attempt to be the man you deserve every single day for you and our family. You bring out the best in me. So will you make me an even more happier man if thatâs even possible today and marry me?â
Jude eyes filled with more tears and she nodded, âYes, Cardan, yes, of course.â
They kissed as the baby unlatched herself. Jude broke the kiss and looked down. The baby had gone to sleep. She looked at Cardan and smiled, âOkay, dad, are you ready to hold her?â
Cardan nodded enthusiastically and held out his arms. Jude met him halfway and gave him the baby. He sat down in his chair by the bed and gazed adoringly at her.
And for the hundredth time that day, Cardan cried. He let the tears roll down his face, unashamed. This was the happiness of his little family, his baby girl that had dark brown hair, and looked to be like golden brown eyes from the little bit she did open them, and his fiancé that blessed him with all this joy.
He looked down at his baby and ran a finger down her cheek, and with a thick voice, breathed, âWelcome to the world Liam Rose Greenbriar. Iâm your daddy.â
All Cardan could think of was he was so thankful that Jude gave him one chance.
UNEDITED
i hope yâall are doing well during this time of quarantine. if you need someone to talk to, iâm always here! :)
He woke up before she did, thankfully. He knew she would be totally asleep after being up in the middle of the night, and lucky for him, sheâs a heavy sleeper. So he got the chance to make himself some coffee, run to the store, and have his workout (not necessarily in that order) before going back to his bedroom to wake her. âHoney.â He soothingly rubbed her back to wake her gently.
âNo.â she grumbled sleepily. He knew she wasnât a morning person but that was his clarification. She tried to shake his hand off her but to no avail. âStop.â
âCâmon, baby. Youâve got to get up.â
âGo away.â
âFine. I guess you donât want toaster strudel for breakfast.â
If thereâs one thing that she loves to eat for breakfast, heâs learned, itâs toaster strudel. More specifically, the apple flavor. She told him early on in their âconversationsâ together that she ate them every day and could never get tired of it.
Her eyes opened. âYou did not.â
âOh, I did.â He retorted. âNow get your ass up.â
She sat up, finally. âAlright. You win.â
He moved out of the way so that she could get up, moving quickly to the guest room to get her toiletries. Then she ran back through his room and into his bathroom to wash her face and brush her teeth. When she was done, she emerged in Graysonâs room where he was sat on the bed scrolling through his phone (as heâs prone to do when heâs waiting for her).
âTook you long enough.â He muttered as he stood, going up to her and snaking his arms around her waist. âYouâre so pretty.â
âSeriously?â she asked. âI just woke up.â
âShut up and let me be mushy.â He took her hand and led her out of his bedroom and into the kitchen. There were grocery bags scattered across the countertops and very clearly she could see the toaster strudel label peeking through the clear plastic. âI also bought you some bacon and eggs, since you still eat animals.â
She wanted to melt. He really does care about her, doesnât he? âGrayson you didnât have to do this.â
âI wanted to, donât worry.â He ushered her to the breakfast bar to sit while he began to prepare her breakfast. âSoâŠI was thinking today we go somewhere special.â
âOh?â
âYeah.â He beat two eggs in a bowl as he talked, sprinkling in cheddar cheese. âMaybe we could go somewhere funâŠmaybe theyâve got ridesâŠand maybe, just maybe, they just opened a Jurassic World ride that someone has been dying to try.â He shrugged as he poured the eggs in a hot pan. âJust a thought.â
Yes, she was excited that he suggested taking her to Universal Studios Hollywood, duh. Who wouldnât be? But she was way too busy watching him cook for herâshirtlessâto even register the idea. She was way more concerned with the thought of her bent over this counter with him behind her as he wrapped a hand around her throatâ
âHello?â
He snapped her out of her trance. âWhat?â
Too early, (Y/N). Itâs too early in the morning for you to have these sinful thoughts, said one part of her conscience. Remember, teddy bears, waterfalls...
âYou zoned out there for a bit.â He plated her breakfast, then set it in front of her. âDoes that mean you donât want to go to Universal today?â
âYes, Iâd love to.â She finally realized that she finally had the opportunity to go to Universal Studios, ride every ride there, and eat fatty and expensive amusement park food until she got a stomachache. He came around to where she was sitting and kissed her forehead before sitting in the seat next to her. He picked up one of the pieces of toaster strudel he made for her and took a big bite, wiping his fingers off on a napkin. âGraysonââ
âYou canât be mean to me today, baby. Iâm taking you to check off your bucket list so really, you should be thanking me, hm?â he cocked an eyebrow at her.
âYou know what? Youâre absolutely right. Thank you, Grayson.â she tried to make it sound as sarcastic and unnerving as possible.
âIâll take it.â He leaned over and peppered kisses on her brown cheek. âAlright, baby, Iâm going to go shower and change. You finish up here, and weâll get going around one, okay?â
âOkay.â
***
She had to remind herself that she needed to keep her thoughts to a minimum. She wasnât entirely sure how that would happen because he was so gorgeous and he was so strongâshe did not forget how effortlessly he picked her up last night to carry her to bed, and she certainly didnât forget the tightness in his grip around her waist as they slept.
But even with how strong he was, and how dominating he seemed, he was still so gentle with her. He made sure to talk to her as if he were telling secrets, and he made sure to touch her gently, almost as if she were a porcelain doll.
She could tell that she meant a lot to him by the way that he kisses her forehead and cheeks, but why in the hell has he not kissed her yet? She knows that they both like each other in that way, and he already told her that he wanted her as his girlfriend, so what is he waiting for?
The (not) couple finished getting ready and was out the door before one oâclockâmuch to his pleasure. She begged him to let her play her music on his auxiliary because sheâd just downloaded a song that she had to play. So naturally, he said yes, especially when she gave him the puppy dog eyes. When she played it she couldnât help but get giddy inside because the song was so good (honestly her favorite at the moment), and they were going to Universal Studios Hollywood, and on top of it all, she was with him and he looked absolutely radiant.
âWhatâs this?â he asked over the blaring vocals.
âOh my gosh, itâs called âwhen the partyâs overâ by Billie Eilish. Do you listen to her?â
âNo, not really. Itâs a bit sad, donât you think?â he glanced at her out of the corner of his eye and saw her completely engulfed in the music.
âYes, thatâs the point.â She replied. âIsnât it great?â
âItâs alright.â He shrugged.
âAlright? Gray, did you not hear what I heard? The vocals? The harmonies? The piano? Câmon, baby, youâre joking, right?â
Wait.
Whatâd she just say?
âSay that again.â Thankfully, they were stopped at a red light. He looked directly at her.
âSay what?â
âYou just called me âbabyâ.â
Her eyes widened. She didnât even realize she said that! âOh, did I?â
âYes, you did. And I want to hear you say it againâŠplease.â
He needed to get himself under control because if she plans to call him âbabyâ all day long, then itâs going to be a long ass day.
âOkayâŠwell, baby, Iâm very excited to go to Universal with you today!â
He gripped the steering wheel tighter. âIâm excited, too. Trust me.â
âYou do know now I have to put you on to more amazing music, right?â
He rolled his eyes. âIf you must.â
***
The short car ride felt like an eternity to him. Not because he didnât love having her around, because itâs very apparent that he did; itâs just the damn music would not end. Her music choice wasâŠdifferent. Not in a bad way, he thinks. Itâs just not what he listens to and he almost had to plead for her to play Tame Impala before he earned a headache before their day even began.
Heâs gained a new respect for Flo Milli, heâll admitâbut not to (Y/N), because then heâll never hear the end of it.
When they pulled into the parking lot, he sat back in his seat, killing the engine and taking out his phone.
âHey,â she piped up. âwhat are you doing?â
âIâm sending you your ticket. Shush.â
She couldnât help it, and not that she wanted to, but she took her hand and raised it to his head, running her fingers through his hair. His body stiffened at the sudden contact, then relaxed when she felt him scratch his scalp carefully. There was something about the way his hair felt; almost too soft for it to be there. She wasnât the âhair-smellingâ type, but judging by the softness of it, she could tell he took good care of it and it had to have smelled good. She ran her hand through the longer tufts of hair at toward the front of his head, following the span of his scalp to the back of his head, and scratching at the nape of his neck. She soon found herself twirling the hair around her fingers, pulling on the strands accidentally.
He sucked in a breath, saying âowâ but not really meaning it.
âOops! Sorry.â
Now hereâs the issue between the two of them: they want each other. Not just with cute dates and kisses and snuggles, but in the most intimate way possible. But sheâs not going to tell him that, and he definitely wonât tell her, because the list of things in his mind that he wants to do her is vast and vivid; he doesnât want to break her before sheâs ready to be broken.
Moreover, he doesnât want her to see him as a distraction once she leaves. Once she leaves, she has to go back to school and study her ass off, and she wonât have time to call him every hour and tell him how much she misses him. She wonât be able to snuggle him, kiss him, or run her fingers through his hair. And that could be problematic for the both of them.
Sheâll admit that sheâs the type to fall hard and fast, so yes, the chance of her falling for him is going to be sky high; but that doesnât mean she wonât do what it takes for thing theyâve got going to be successful and, most importantly, to keep him around.
He put his phone in the pocket of his hoodie, opening the car door. âCâmon.â
***
Of course, they had a blast. She rode rides that sheâd only seen in the commercials or on the internet, and he got to witness her joy firsthand. That was his favorite partâbesides trying deep-fried Oreos and sharing a glass of butterbeer with her. They walked hand-in-hand back to the car when she sighed contentedly. âThank you for today.â She wrapped her other arm around his bicep. âYou have no idea how much fun I had.â
He chuckled, kissing her head as though it were his job. âI think I have an ideaâŠbut you deserved it, okay? Donât thank me.â
As they approached the car, his mind began to race (more than it already does when heâs around her). You know what? He thought, fuck it.
âWell, I still appreciate it.â
He stopped in his tracks, gently pulling away from her and taking her hands in his.
Her eyebrows furrowed. âWhatâs wrong?â
âSo hereâs the deal.â He spoke lowly. âAll day, Iâve been wondering about what things could be.â
âIn regard toâŠ?â
âUs.â He nodded between the two of them to clarify.
âRight. Okay.â
âAnd I like you. And you like me. So why canât we try?â
âGrayson, whatâs gonna happen when I go back?â
âIâIâm not sure. But we donât have to think about that right now, okay?â he let out a breath, cupping her jaw with his hands, rubbing his thumbs along her cheekbones. âI just canât keep looking at you and not kiss you.â
Her heart fluttered again.
Or maybe this time, it actually stopped. She doesnât know (or care) either way.
Without a second thought, she said, âSo kiss me.â
âHuh?â
âKiss me.â
He nodded, leaning down to her, his eyes locked on her lips. Why was he so nervous? He generally doesnât act this way. But she was just so perfect, so beautifulâhe had to take things slowly so as not to hurt her or break her like he thinks he could (potentially). Their lips brush, and finally, they meet. Her hands wrap around his forearms, and everything that her mind was clouded with was melted away instantly. She sighed into the kiss, relishing in the feeling.
When they pulled apart, he put his forehead against hers, unable and unwilling to hide his grin.
âReady to go?â he asked her, not wanting to let her go for even a moment.
âYeah.â
Just Give Me A Reason
Summary: Virgil has a misunderstanding and lack of communication. Analogical songfic based off Just Give Me A Reason by P!nk
Word Count:Â 1,336
Taglist: (Send an ask to be added or removed!) @spoopy-turtleâÂ
Special thanks to @lizluvscupcakes for the help on this one!!
It had been almost too easy to fall in love with Logan. Virgil didnât know if it was the way he paid so much attention to him, or the way he made him feel safe and calm. Soon, Virgil was opening up to him in a way he had never done to anyone before. He showed every vulnerable part of himself, every part that made him think he was unworthy of love. And Logan took them and showed him why he was so wrong about himself.Â
It wasnât long before they had moved in together, Virgil falling asleep in Loganâs arms every night. He always felt safe and protected, as if his anxiety didnât exist when he was with him. Virgil was happy, for the first time in what felt like his whole life, he was happy. He should have known it couldnât have lasted.Â
He woke in the middle of night, jolted awake by a nightmare. Rolling over, he tried to snuggle into Loganâs chest to block it out. What he heard made him freeze.
âIâve had enough.â
Virgil looked up at him, seeing his peacefully sleeping face. He wondered if he had imagined it, but he spoke again.Â
âYouâre so needy.â
Virgil almost went into a full anxiety attack right there. Instead, he pulled away and crept out of the bed, making his way to the bathroom. He splashed water on his face before staring at himself in the mirror. âAm I really that needy?â He asked the empty room. He sighed, shaking his head as he went back to bed.
He kept a distance between them, facing away and putting a pillow against his back. Logan wasnât there when he woke up the next morning. He made himself breakfast, the words from last night swirling around his head. He went about his day, the words hovering over him like a cloud.
When Logan got home, Virgil avoided him. He went out of his way to not acknowledge him, to not be in the same room as him for prolonged periods of time. He knew this might be petty, but he wanted to show that he wasnât needy, and didn't need to be around him every second.Â
When he was feeling hungry, he made dinner for the both of them. He left Loganâs dinner next to him before trying to retreat back to his hiding room. Logan caught his free hand before he could get far, holding it between both of his own. âVirgil, are you alright?â His voice was as soft and kind as ever.
Virgil didnât look at him. âYeah, Iâm fine. I just want some alone time. Why, did you need something?â
âI was hoping to continue watching our show from last night. But, if you really need alone time, I understand.â
Virgilâs heart ached as he walked away, the words from last night, âYouâre so needy,â coming back to buzz in his ear, an almost forgotten whisper.
He spent the rest of the evening in his room, coming out only to put his plate in the sink and clean up from cooking. When it was time for bed, he was already lying down with the pillow against his back again. Logan came up and kissed Virgilâs neck, whispering a âGood night, Starlight,â before laying down as well.Â
The next day was almost a repeat of the first. Virgilâs space was respected as they slept with the pillow between them and Logan was gone before he woke up. When Logan got home, Virgil had his headphones on while reading and had lost track of time. He looked up to see his boyfriend standing in the doorway, an unreadable expression on his face. Virgil nodded to him before going back to his book and music.
Logan came closer, sitting on the couch next to Virgil, who scooted away a little. Logan responded by staying where he was, respecting Virgilâs space as always. When he delivered Loganâs dinner, he once again asked him to stay and eat with him. Virgil couldnât look at him, wondering if Logan was planning on breaking up soon. âNo, thanks. I think Iâll turn in once Iâm done eating.â He retreated back to the room, coming out again to wash the dishes only to find that Logan had already done them.Â
This went on for almost a week before it was stopped. The weekend rolled around and Virgil found the bed empty when he got up so he sleepily went to grab a toaster strudel before starting his next art commission but found the kitchen occupied. âWha. . . ?â His voice trailed off.
Logan turned around, apron wrapped around his waist and spoon in hand. âYouâre not supposed to be up yet. Itâs a Saturday.â
Virgil frowned, waking the rest of the way up in an instant. âLet me guess, Iâm looking needy again?â
Logan looked at him in confusion. âWhat? Why would you think you were being needy?â
âItâs okay to tell me that youâve had enough of me. Itâs alright so say that weâre broken. I know that weâre one step away from breaking up.â
Logan turned the stove off and walked around the island. âIâm sorry, Virgil, I donât understand where all of this is suddenly coming from. I thought we were fine?â
âYou do know you talk in your sleep, right?â
Logan sighed. âWhat did I say this time?â
Virgil blinked. âThis time? You mean this isnât the first time this has happened?â
âNo, itâs not. What did I say, Virgil?â
âYou said youâve had enough.â His voice got quiet as tears threatened to fall. âYou said I was being too needy. So, I- I tried to give you space. I tried to- I tried to not be as needy with your time. Even though- even though I still love you- love you so much. I tried to stay away- to give you space- when all I really wanted to- to do is-â The sobs took over and he dissolved into tears.Â
Logan rushed over and gathered him in his arms. âYour head is running wild again, my dear. I will always love you.â He picked the sobbing mess of a man up in a princess carry and walked over to the couch, sitting with him in his lap. âOur love is written in the stars and nothing can change that.â
Virgil sniffled, his sobs slowing. âThen why did- why did you say I was- I was needy?â
Logan held him close. âI donât know why I say things in my sleep. They never correspond to anything going on in real life and normally have to do with an obscure dream I donât remember when I wake up. You have nothing to fear as I, awake and aware, am telling you that I love you and you could never be needy. Not to me, not ever.â
Virgil nodded, nuzzling deeper into Loganâs chest. âOkay.â
âNever think of us as broken. Never think of yourself as broken. If anything, we might go through a rough period but at that point, we will bend, not break.â Virgil smiled into Loganâs chest, feeling a lot better after talking things out. But Logan wasnât done yet. âNothing will ever come between us if I can help it. If it does, I will tell you as soon as possible, understand?â
Virgil nodded, not feeling like talking right now. Logan pulled back enough to drop a kiss on the top of his head. âMay I get up? I have breakfast to finish.â
Virgil nodded and reluctantly slid off onto the couch. âWhat are you making?â
âPancakes and grits as I know you enjoy them. It was supposed to be a breakfast in bed surprise as I thought you werenât doing so well mentally. It seems I was right to some degree.âÂ
They spent a peaceful morning together, enjoying each otherâs company and enjoying the much missed skinship. They ate their meal before cuddling up under blankets and watching space and cryptid documentaries.
Episode 2x04 - What if God Was One of Us
EPISODE SUMMARY:
AN ACT OF GOD â On the verge of a breakthrough in her quest to save Max (Nathan Dean), Liz (Jeanine Mason) turns to Kyle (Michael Trevino) for one last favor that could potentially land him in hot water. Meanwhile, Michael (Michael Vlamis) and Alexâs (Tyler Blackburn) investigation into Nora (guest star Kayla Ewell) leads them to a farm, where they meet a historian named Forrest (guest star Christian Antidormi). Elsewhere, Cameron (guest star Riley Voelkel) confronts Jesse Manes (Trevor St. John) about her sisterâs whereabouts, and Isobel (Lily Cowles) uses her powers for good. Amber Midthunder also stars. Shiri Appleby directed the episode written by Steve Stringer & Christopher Hollier (#204). Original airdate 4/6/2020.
DETAILS:
Roy said that he took veterinary training, which is how he was able to help with Louise and Nora's injuries.
"How come it feels like you don't know what I'm saying, but you know what I'm thinking?"
Roy moved the truck (with the pods in it?) to the livery.
"Boss's wife won't let him blame the drought on God so that honor goes to his foreman -- that's me."
Kyle on The Science:
"You're telling me that Michael Guerin used pinball parts and a car battery to cause cutaneous perfusion?
(Cutaneous perfusion...i think it is circulation of fluid/blood through tissue, but it's a bit above my head)
The device Liz needs is a "Personal Genome Machine". She ordered it when she still worked at the hospital.
Before entering the Crashdown, Graham Green tapes a Missing sign on the door for Hank Gibbons (who Noah killed in 1x13). Apparently someone covered it up.
The sign is HARD to read, but I think it says:
"All viable leads reported to Graham Green's UFO Emporium will receive a free keychain. Make certain you subscribe to the Weekly Probe as we dive deeper into the untold stories of Roswell and answer the question on everyone's mind. ARE YOU NEXT?"
Graham Green references that he's the "creator of last week's 39th most downloaded true crime podcast." (Assuming that this is the Weekly Probe, referenced on the poster).
Graham Green is opening a 1947 themed malt shop at the UFO Emporium
U.F. Doughs (the Crashdown's new donuts).
Isobel's been coming to the Crashdown every day for weeks. (Note that this episode is the first one that really doesn't have a clear time context).
"Feliz cumpleanos, mama!" Happy birthday in Spanish, of course, but note Kyle's choice term of endearment for fic purposes! And she responds in kind "Gracias, mijo!" (Mijo = male version. Arturo calls Liz mija = female version)
"A wild Michael Guerin finally emerges from his weeks-long hibernation in a lab and a library."
Again, non-specific time frame.
"When every other farm was struggling, the Longs experienced record-breaking crops. Summer of '47. No one could explain itâŠtill October '48. The day after that photo ran in the paper, the farm was devastated by a massive fire. Foreman, entire staff killed. Whole place burned down."
"What caused the fire?"
"Well the paper called it an act of God. Said it was a freak storm. Bolt of lightning strikes the barn the same night that my mom's caught and locked up in Caulfield."
Wyatt Long's horses are named "Diamond" and "Silk".
Jesse Manes' beer of choice is "Polestaff".
Cam's postcard from Charlie (Likely the reason she came back to Roswell) says:
"See you back in Roswell --Charlotte"
Top left corner says "Greetings from Roswell, NM".
It was mailed to Jenna at the Green Hill Motel in Dayton, Ohio.
Jenna says it's not Charlie's handwriting.
Isobel in the mindwarp: "And what's your dream, Arturo? What would be your miracle? What do you pray for?"
Arturo & Rosa's fightâŠÂ
"Did that fool give you drugs? I'll kill him!"
"Ow! You're hurting me! That's child abuse!"
"Everything I do I do to hold you up and you see it as abuse. I don't know what to do anymore!"
"Yeah right." Rosa falls down and laughs.
"This isn't funny! Sheriff Valenti won't give you any more chances."
"You should be happy. You wanted me to be on the field hockey team, remember? You said I should make friends and have good American fun."
"Who sold you the pills?"
"I stole them."
"Was it Frederico?"
"You wouldn't believe me."
"Tell me the truth!"
"It was Mom! She's either too high to notice that they're missing, or she knows and she doesn't care."
"You're lying to me. I don't know how to help you."
"So stop trying then. I'm beyond hope anyway, right? That's what everyone else in this town thinks."
"Maybe you're right. I'm going for a drive."
Arturo tried to register with Instagram as PancakePapi!! He ended up with PancakePapi58!
Scene with Steph and her dad...FIRST MENTION OF SOPAPILLAS ON THE SHOW!!! đ€€đ€€đ€€đ€€ (They're the best...in New Mexican restaurants they're like, both an appetizer and a dessert. They're like hollow fried bread that you eat with honey. Delicious.)  See here:
Plus it gave the show another opportunity to be authentically New Mexican through food references. (Last season it was in episode 2 when Arturo asked,"red or green?" And Liz replied "Christmas!". In New Mexico that means half red half green chile smothering her plate.) Like so:Â
1948...unclear how much time has passed, but Louise says months.
The kid's name is Walt. (Walt Long?? Some other last name?).
Nora says that under the tarp is the "pumpkin launcher" and it's a surprise.
Nora says it's not safe for Michael here, "but soon."
"Hey do you smell that? It smells like rain. It's what you smell like under all the grease and bourbon. It's what your workshop smells like. Something alien happened here. Not that I can still smell it 70 years later."
"This is the best evidence I've seen that Max and Isobel's mother survived the initial firefight. This is something that you do with family."
"Nora's my mother. If she was here at the same time as LouiseâŠ"
Note - when did they confirm who Louise was or that she was Max & Isobel's mom? This has not happened narratively yet.
Since Walt was a young kid, Alex thinks there's a chance he's still alive (though at the end Nora definitely thought he died when the barn blew up. I suspect that Walt survived and is the key to the story...not fact, just speculation.)
Forrest: "The foreman, Roy Bronson, was definitely hiding something. But it wasn't Little Green Men. It was Nazi spies."
"This is like Junior Year eraser room, getting caught by Coach Wiggins."
OG callback to the eraser room being the high school makeout spot. OG, "the eraser room takes our innocence."Â
Rosa in Spanish "ÂżEn serio?" Basically "are you serious!?!" Or "really?" When the blender shorts out (awfully similar to her first Noah nightmare in 2x01)
"...when Charlie told me she had stole classified documents, I reported her. I thought I was doing the right thing and the military put her in prison."
"Right. Where she was safe."
"No. I⊠I didn't know who she really was when I turned her in. I didn't know what prison would do to her."
"She wanted you to turn her in, Jenna. She set you up to do so. She knew that as long as she was in government custody no one could get to her."
"Charlie fought in two wars. Who was she afraid of?"
"A private securities firm, most likely. You know that I met her? She was working on this genetic sequencing project that had the potential to save lives, but also destroy them. And there were some people out there who saw applications for her research that went beyond her intentions."
"She was doing research that could help save lives, and people wanted to use it to create a bioweapon."
"Well yeah, she created this pathogen that could seek out and dismantle specific sequences. Just think about it -- a smart bomb that could be detonated in the middle of a crowded city, only harm it's intended target. Think about the innocent civilian lives saved while you take out leaders of terrorist organizations."
"Or commit genocide. If her work fell into the wrong hands, it could quietly wipe out entire groups of people because they share a certain genetic code, while their neighbors go about living their lives. Why do you know so much about this? What's your interest in my sister?"
"I believed that I had a use for her pathogen, at one time. But my fight is over now."
A few notes about this exchange.
Clearly Charlie's pathogen is the key ingredient in the smart bomb that Flint was developing, as discussed in 1x12.
Liz's "personal genome machine" can break down the alien genetics and give Project Shepherd what they need to use a smart bomb on the aliens.Â
Don't forget, her lab is protected by Air Force security set up by "Alex's team". (Badbadbadbad!)
Rosa describing her bipolarism.Â
"I get these mood swings sometimes. Like, I can be happy and singing one minute, and then, all of a sudden, this darkness just closes in over me, and I have all these voices telling me that I'm worthless."
Jesse gives Cam the name of the security firm looking for Charlie. We don't see the name of it. He warns her to be careful. "I may be hobbled but they are not."
"Now, you were hunting aliens, and I gave you Max's name. Why didn't you lock him up in Caulfield with the rest?"
"I don't know. I guess I feel like there's a story unfolding in Roswell. Has been for more than 50 years. You can't blame me for wanting to see how it ends."
Catherine Zeta-Jones in a laser maze -- Liz is referencing the 1999 movie Entrapment.
Liz trying to science-intrigue KyleâŠ.
"Interesting historical footnote. There was an internment camp in Roswell. Nazi POWs built half this city. Hence the iron crosses. My great-great grandfather BoDean's foreman got busted for hiding a couple of women here. According to him 'A couple Nazi spies escaped and strudeled their schnitzel for room and board right here on this very farm. See, I was never really as into shooting squirrels as Wyatt is, so, when I came out here for summers as a kid, my cousin Kate and I -- we'd prowl the property for artifacts."
"You know, what we're doing you and me -- it doesn't only have to be for Max...once Max is healthy, we could use this genome machine to Target cellular apoptosis. I mean, we could craft polymerase sequencing in human DNA. We don't have to stop. We have no boards, no restrictionsâŠ"
Apoptosis is also sometimes referred to as "cellular suicide" or "spontaneous single cell death".
Polymerase is like the building blocks of DNA.
In other words, Liz is really, really smart.
FORREST LONG!!!!!! đđđ.Â
Alex on the bullet shells: "These match the M1917s the airmen used in '48.
"They were scattered all over the property. Legend has it the Nazis we're building some kind of bomb in the barn. Then one night the Air Force showed up."
"The night of the fire."
"The blaze burned so hot it turned sand to stone. Papers say that lightning struck the barn and everyone died in the flames, but...that's bull. See I think the Air Force covered up the massacre that happened when they discovered that weapon.
A few things on this sceneâŠÂ
Forrest mentions his cousin Kate...Wyatt's sister who was murdered by Noah in 2008. So Forrest is Wyatt Long's cousin.Â
Substitute Nazi for alien and it's probably all based somewhat based in truth. In the 1940s that definitely would have been a reasonably obvious way to cover it up, especially given the history that Forrest cites and the military culture in Roswell.
Note: POW = prisoner of war
The iron crosses Forrest referencesâŠ
Article on the German POWs in the Roswell Daily RecordâŠ
Walt was hiding in the barn when Tripp made it explode. Explosion looked shimmery, like the alien ship & tech.Â
Also, more info than you ever wanted to know about the Roswell Army Air Field/Walker Air Force Base/Roswell International Air Center...including some info on the POWs.
Sheriff Valenti's theory on Noah's death:
"I think Max Evans poisoned Noah and left him in the desert the night of the lightning storm, and I think Isobel Evans was in on it."
Kyle says it would take gallons of acetone to poison someone.
Tripp was Alex's great uncle
Nora was working on a ship to take the pods home.
TRIPP MANES!!! Full name is Eugene Manes III.
Alex finally gives Michael the piece of alien ship he's had. He doesn't want to be another Manes man standing in Michael's way.
Cam's voicemail to Liz.
"Got a lead on my sister. Give me a call when you get that tin-star-wearing E.T. awake, so I can curse him out for worrying us all. Good luck Liz. Bring Max home."
Arturo's Spanish to Liz and Rosa.
"Das gracias a Dios. Gracias todos los dias."
Translates generally to "Thank God. Thanks every day."
Isobel's monologue at the end:
"The idea of God always freaked me out. Like, apparently he made people in his own image, which, first of all, get over yourself. And also, does that apply to us? Does every planet have its own God? Let's say that we're all clones of the big guy in the sky. Well then, doesn't it stand to reason that we're all capable of slinging light? Well I guess by that same token we're all capable of tremendous wrath. We're walking contradictions. A never-ending mercurial rise and fall. Darkness and light. I guess the real miracle is choosing the light. Despite the ever-present darkness. Look at us. You're in the middle of a downright biblical desert, galaxies from where we started. I mean, our very existence is a miracle. I'm capable of so much more than I thought I was, Max. I really think that maybe I could do great things. I need you to come back, okay? I need you to be the thing that I can believe in. That doesn't let me down. I just need this one little miracle, and I promise I won't ever ask for anything ever again."
MUSIC:
1. LEN "Steal My Sunshine"
2. Spacehog "In The Meantime"
3. Duke Ellington "Take It Easy"
4. ManĂĄ "Como Te Deseo"
5. Oasis "Don't Look Back In Anger"
6. Ben Harper "Waiting On An Angel"
George Luz Visits the Emergency Room (A Lot)
I`m having the worst writer`s block while trying to write Welcome to the 5061st, so I wrote a little piece of Luzroe fluff to try and break it.
Tags: @gottapenny @itisjustmethistime @indigosandvioletsÂ
--------------------
George Luz made his way through the maze of corridors towards the Emergency Room, two cups of coffee and a bag of muffins clutched firmly in his hands. He found Lipton  in his usual spot in the break room, going through some paperwork as he waited.
"Paging Dr. Lipton! Your incredibly healthy breakfast of one low-fat blueberry muffin and small black coffee has arrived!" Luz made the announcement with more pep than should be allowed on a Monday morning as he pushed through the door into the break room.
Lipton looked up from his papers with a smile, "You're a lifesaver Luz."
Luz opened his mouth to agree with the statement when he caught sight of the two men in the hallway through the break room window. Dr. Winters, head of the ER, appeared to be talking to a doctor Luz hadn't seen before.
"Hey Luz, you might want to... " Lipton made a motion indicating that Luz should wipe his mouth. Luz stopped himself just as moved his arm up to do just that.
"I`m not drooling!"
"Whatever you say."Â
Luz rolled his eyes and handed over Lipton`s breakfast, only momentarily taking his eyes off of the dark haired doctor in the hallway before they darted right back.
"In case you were wondering, that would be Dr. Eugene Roe, our new resident. Supposed to be one helluva doc."
"Huh. You don`t say... " Luz watched intently as Roe smiled at something Winters said. Luz didn't know if Roe was one helluva doc but he sure had one helluva smile.
Lipton sighed knowing Luz was going to stand there being a drool-fest unless he intervened.
"I could introduce you, if you want."
"Well, I mean, if you think that would be a good idea. I, uh, do visit a lot down here so he should probably know who I am. Don`t want him thinking they let just anyone wander around here. I mean - "
Lipton held up his hand to cut Luz off. He could tell when Luz was about to start rambling and Lipton had too much paperwork to do to listen to that right now.
"Come on. I don`t think they'll mind us interrupting." Lipton put down his coffee and led Luz out in to the hallway.
"Hey Dick," Luz nodded at the redhead in greeting and then turned to the other man, "Dr. Roe, I want you to meet a good friend of mine, George Luz. He`s a nurse up on the pediatric floor."
Luz wiped his hands on his pants quickly before holding one out.
When the hell had his hands started sweating?
"I`m George! Nice to meet you!" His voice came out funny sounding and he mentally kicked himself.
Roe took the hand Luz had extended and shook it.
"Nice to meet you too George. I`m Eugene Roe, but you can just call me Gene."
Luz`s eyes widened a bit.
Oh fuck. The accent.
~
Later that night as Luz laid in his bed he couldn't help but bemoan how unfair it all was.
How dare someone that hot, with an even hotter accent, work a mere two floors away from him? How was he supposed to get any work done knowing Dr. HandsomeFace McHotPants was so close?
Luz huffed and rolled onto his side.
Unfair.
~
It was tradition that every Monday morning, Luz and Lipton would meet in the ER`s break room for a quick breakfast before their shifts started. It was a nice tradition that gave them both something to look forward to on Monday mornings.
Today, however, was not Monday. And yet, here Luz was, breakfast for the two of them in hand.
"Morning Lip! Long time no see!" Luz grinned widely as he set the coffees and bagels down on the table.
"Luz?"
"Yeah?"
"It`s not Monday buddy."
"It isn`t?!" Luz`s eyes widened in dramatic fashion, "Oh shoot! Silly me! Well, either way, shouldn't waste this breakfast!" Luz gestured for Lipton to take a seat.
Lipton shook his head, amused, as he sat down. "Luz, he`s already been in and made his coffee. I don`t think he`ll be back again for awhile."
"Who?"
"Luz. You know who. We both do."Â
"Hmph," Luz chewed his bite of bagel thoughtfully for a moment, "I can eat slow."
"Luz!" Lipton balled up a napkin and tossed it at the younger man, "You have a job to get to!"
Luz laughed as the napkin bonked him in the face, "Alright! Fine! Maybe I`ll just have to come visit on my lunch break."
Lipton could tell from the grin on Luz`s face that he really was going to do just that. Hell, he had a distinct feeling he was about to see a lot more of Luz for the foreseeable future.
~
Lipton`s feeling had not been wrong. Luz seemed to find every excuse in the book to wander down to the ER - breakfast, lunch, "just getting exercise", dropping off coffees, looking for so-and-so.
And yet, Luz never managed to make it beyond small talk with Roe. Luz was a natural talker and could make friends with anyone (a habit that occasionally worried Lipton) so the whole thing puzzled him. If Lipton didn't know better he might've sworn that Luz`s nerves were actually getting the better of him... Â
~
Luz sat in the Emergency Room not as a visitor, but as a patient. As he sat there waiting, he hoped desperately that one of the docs he liked would be the one to see him. Preferably Lipton, or Winters, or Grant. He was torn as to whether or not he wanted Roe to walk in - on one hand it mean time with Roe, time with Roe touching him, but on the other hand Roe would probably ask about his injury and, well, it was frankly embarrassing.
Luz had been lounging on the couch, watching trashy daytime television, when he heard the toaster strudel he had in the toaster pop up. In his rush to get to his precious toaster strudel, he leaped off the coach, promptly tripped over his own feet, fell, and hit his head on the corner of the coffee table.
Luz wasn't sure he wanted to tell the hottest man he had ever seen in his entire goddamn life that he needed stitches because of toaster strudel, so it was to his great relief that Lipton was the one he walked in to the room.
Lipton looked Luz up and down, "Please tell me this isn't a new way of trying to get Roe`s attention."
"Believe it or not this is a legitimate toaster strudel injury."
"Of course it is."
"Really! You can go to my apartment right now and see the evidence yourself! My poor toaster strudel is probably ice cold now."
Lipton let out an exasperated sigh, "Ok, well since it`s just you - "
"Hey!"
" - I need to run to the bathroom so just wait here a second."
~
Lipton did not have to go to the bathroom. Lipton did have to act on what he considered a brilliant idea.
He found Roe coming out of room 5 and flagged him down.
"Hey Gene! I hate to ask but I`m drowning a bit. Could you take a look at the patient in room 2 for me?"
"Of course," Roe nodded and gave Lipton a small smile.
"Thanks Gene, I owe you one."
As Lipton walked away he knew beyond a doubt that Luz was probably going to kill him later. But it was worth it.
~
"George?"
Luz`s head immediately snapped up towards the door as the familiar voice filled the room.
"Gene! Hey, uh, where`s Lip?"
"He asked me to take over. Said he was pretty swamped. Let`s see what we got here, huh?"
Luz made a mental note to murder Lipton later as Roe walked over and began examining Luz`s head wound. Roe was so damn close. So damn close. Luz was pretty sure his brain was going to short circuit with the proximity.
"It ain`t bad. Just a few stitches should do it. Won`t even really be a scar."
"Ha! What a shame, I heard chicks dig scars."Â
FUCK. Why would I say that?
Luz tried to recover, sort of... "And guys. Guys, uh, dig scars too."
Luz had never wanted to sink in to the earth so badly before. Until Roe chuckled.
He fucking chuckled.
"We do. Dig scars, that is." Roe gave him what could only be described as a mischievous smile before refocusing on patching up the cut on Luz`s forehead.
~
Over the next few days, there definitely seemed to be a shift between the two of them.
Or maybe it was Luz`s imagination.
No, no, there was a definite shift to a more flirty style of interaction.
Hopefully.
No, definitely. There was no way this was in his head.
Right?
~
Luz showed up to the ER`s break room with three coffees clutched in his hand - one for him, one for Lip, and one for Roe if managed to "run in to him" (he always managed to run in to Roe, even if meant doing a few circles around the ER). So he was absolutely delighted to see that Roe just so happened to be in the break room. He was not, however, delighted to see that Roe was busy playing with a little kid. A dark haired little kid. A pale, dark haired little kid.
Luz felt like he had punched in the gut. Maybe the flirting had been in his head after all. Roe had a kid and probably a girlfriend (or wife, maybe he was the kind of guy who didn't like wearing rings) to go along with the kid.
He did his best to shake off the sudden tidal wave of disappointment as he threw the best smile he could muster on his face.
"Good morning! Coffee?"
Roe looked up from the matchbox car race he was having, "Thank you George. You`re the best." Roe grabbed the coffee with a smile, beaming with appreciation.
"Don`t I know it," George swallowed hard and tried to think of something to say, "Didn't know you had a kid. He`s cute. What`s his name?"
Roe let out a laugh.
Jesus Christ, what an amazing laugh. Luz doubted he would ever get sick of that sound.
"He ain`t mine. I`m just watchin' him for my buddy Ralph. He`s a paramedic. Should be here soon."
The relief hit Luz instantaneously.Â
"Speak of the devil..."
"Papa!" The kid in Roe`s lap squealed in delight and wriggled out of Roe`s grasp as a dark haired paramedic came through the break room door.
"Hey kiddo! There`s the cutest little munchkin in the whole world!" Spina picked up his kid and covered him in kisses before turning his attention to the other two men in the room.
"Hey Gene, how was he?"
"An angel as always."
Spina snorted, "Maybe you should spend some more time with him," Spina looked at the squirmy kid in his arms, "What do you think kiddo? You want to spend more time with Uncle Gene."
"Yes, pwease!" The kid nodded enthusiastically.
Roe grinned and then glanced over at Luz, gesturing towards Spina, "George, this is my best friend, Ralph Spina."
Luz held up a hand in greeting.
"Ralph, this is George Luz."
Spina broke into a wide grin at that, "So this is George Luz! Nice to finally meet you George! Heard a lot about you!"
"Oh, yeah?" Luz couldn't help the massive grin on his face as he looked over at Roe who was glaring daggers at Spina. Luz could feel the butterflies in his stomach kick up.
~
Luz immediately liked Spina - he seemed like a genuinely warm, friendly person. The three of them chatted for a bit before Spina excused himself, leaving just Luz and Roe in the break room.
"So," Luz smirked at Roe, "Just what exactly did you tell your best friend about me?"
Roe tried to nonchalantly take a sip of his coffee as he shrugged, "Not much, really."
"Huh, didn't seem like not much from the way Ralph reacted to meeting me..." There was a pause before Roe spoke.
" I might`ve told him about how you`re always tellin' real corny jokes, an' how you put way too much sugar an' cream in your coffee, an' how I ain`t never seen someone eat three chocolate chip muffins for breakfast like you do, an' how you spend all your time on this floor instead of the one you actually work on."Â
Another pause. Roe looked Luz straight in the eyes.
"Might`ve also told him my favorite part of the day is when you`re visitin' an' I`m always countin' the minutes until you come visit again."
Luz could feel his heart flutter and for the first time in his life he was at a complete loss for words. So he did the next best thing.
He closed the space between them in two quick steps and pulled Roe into a kiss. He could feel Roe`s lips form into a smile as the kiss deepened.
Oh, Luz was definitely going to be visiting a lot more now.
Please, Keep Love Hole (ch20/21)
What can one lonely nerdy teacher do when he just loves sucking cock? The lone bathroom stall in a gay bar seems like the perfect place for him.
What can one hyper college student with a sports scholarship do when his friends are jerks? The lone bathroom stall in a gay bar seems like the perfect place for him, too.
Chapter summary: Some light fluff before the last (smutty) chapter. I just felt the boys deserve nice things so here it is.
XXX
Over summer, things take on a new form of normal: Stiles works in the coffee shop five times a week, then goes for a run after each shift. Derek gives summer courses for high school students, tutors college students and runs a book club for little kids (which Stiles totally thinks is adorable as hell). All in all, itâs probably the best it has been in quite a while for Stiles. He is content with his routine, with being able to focus on his well-being, and all this provides enough time for the two of them to explore their relationship.
After they are done with work, they usually meet at the park to enjoy the sun and to just talk. Derek seems to be inclined to take things slow, and Stiles is totally fine with this. It might have been a surprising challenge to just slow down and not rush things, because honestly, thatâs not what he was used to, but then again, he argued, Derek wasnât a college student looking for a quick summer fling, so Stiles tried to match his pace. Taking it slow meant itâs been two weeks and he still hasnât been to Derekâs place, and if anyone thought (Stiles included) that Derek would be willing to go over to Stilesâ dorm room, well, yeah, no, Iâm a bit too old for that, Stiles. So, it was usually neutral ground, with plenty of people around, keeping things certainly PG. As far as Stiles is concerned, though, it is all good, great even, and it is no oneâs business that most of the time after he walks Derek home and kisses him goodnight, he most definitely doesnât even try to keep things PG while taking a cold shower to calm himself down. He is a healthy (and finally, he feels like he is) nineteen-year-old.
His friends seem to be relieved that he is doing better, which makes him appreciate them even more. He has caught Scott looking at him with a fond smile on his lips when he thinks no one is watching; and Danny is back to being more tactile with him, bumping into his shoulders, slapping him across the back, and just not treating him anymore like he might break by the slightest breeze. Jackson is still an ass but in an affectionate way, always ready to snarl at anyone who looks at Stiles the wrong way. Which happens, sometimes. People whisper when he walks by, gossiping about the popular (dumb) jock who couldnât handle his drink and the smoking hot Prof Hale had to save his ass.
Itâs a mixture of shadenfreude and envy, he knows, but it still hurts. He can only imagine what would happen if people actually knew about him and Derek. They never wanted to keep it a secret, which Stiles is really delighted about, because sexy Professor Hale doesnât want to keep him a dirty secret! But they try to be as professional as they can be, so they usually donât go to places where a lot of Derekâs students would be. Itâs easier now that itâs summer and they donât have to be on campus, and the town is sometimes like a ghost town because a lot of people have left.
To be with Derek over summer, Stiles decides against going home. When he tells his dad, he sounds pleased that Stiles is at a good place and tells him not to worry about him. He can visit his hometown whenever he wants to, but he should enjoy his summer with his new special friend. That comment makes Stiles groan and bang his head against his desk.
Scott, though, is planning on going home for the summer, so they decide to celebrate his last night there. It takes a lot of back and forth between Stiles, Danny and Jackson to decide what they want to surprise Scott with.
âWe should go to that new arcade like place that opened by the swimming pool,â Stiles, resident nerd, says.
Jacksonâs eye roll is so exaggerated that Stiles is surprised he didnât sprain something.
ââŠor not, okay. What do you suggest then?â
âHow about some cocktails and pool in MacTavishâs? Iâve heard thatâs a hot spot for summer schoolersâ Jackson supplies which earns him two sets of very judgmental eyes.
âDude, they arenât even allowed to drink,â Stiles replies.
âNeither are you, Stilinski,â Danny interjects, and Stiles canât fault his logic there.
âYeah, Iâll leave the fresh-out-of-highschoolers for you, Jackson,â Stiles shoves at Jackson, who just shakes his head. âI like my partners with some experience,â he smirks, and the other two just groan and âewwâ at him. They know about Derek, of course, and it provides endless source for them to tease Stiles about.
âOh! Talking about experience,â Danny exclaims, âyou remember that gay bar with the glory hole?â
Stiles has very vivid yet rather blurry memories of that place and the glorious head he received there. The thoughts make him blush and he wishes really hard that Derek would just not leave him with a serious case of blue balls every time they part ways because then maybe (big maybe) he wouldnât be turned on by just the memory of a blowjob.
âYeah,â Jackson confirms.
âWell⊠ummâŠâ Danny fixes the collar of his shirt, âmy sources say the guy hasnât been there for a few weeks now.â
âYour âsourcesâ, eh?â Jackson cackles and mimes a blowjob to Danny, who turns even redder and awkwardly smiles.
âYeah, his regulars miss him,â he admits sheepishly, and that has both Jackson and Stiles break out into hysterical laughter.
In the end, they go to a pizza place for dinner, then to a 90s themed party. Scott seems happy with their choice and they all have a great time.
At the beginning of August, Stiles is having breakfast with Derek at their favorite pastry shop, when Derek looks at him, hesitant, unsure, and it makes Stilesâ heart painfully clench. He is both apprehensive and excited by that look. He reaches out and runs his hand down Derekâs (broad, muscular, very impressive - hey! mind out of the gutter!) back, which seems to relax him a bit.
âItâs Zoeâs birthday next weekend,â he says after a while and Stiles is just staring at him.
âMhm,â he supplies eventually, when Derek seems satisfied with saying this much.
âI would like for you to come with me,â Derek says, hand reaching out to touch Stilesâ. It takes Stiles a second to realize that Derek is actually asking him to meet his sister, not his niece. His sister, Laura, the only family he has.
Stiles swallows his apple strudel and fighting down questions like what am I going to do with a bunch of little kids around, I am not good with kids, he smiles at Derek.
âThat sounds great. What is the plan?â he asks and is shocked by Derekâs beautiful smile. That smile alone is worth putting up with kids for a morning.
He only freaks out a little when Derek tells him that it is tradition in their family to cook and bake together with the birthday girl or boy, and then to play boardgames. The bigger freaking out comes when he realizes that he is a terrible cook and that he has never had to spend a whole day with a child around, let alone several.
âI canât do this. I am nineteen! How am I expected to be able to handle this? Scott, heeeeelp!â He knows he is like a petulant child â maybe he should join the partying kids instead of cooking with the adults â but Scott is just laughing at him.
âDude, louder, please, my speakers arenât screeching just yet,â Scott laughs at him, but there is an affectionate and understanding look in his eyes, even through the pixelated image of his laptop.
âSorry. But seriously, buddy, I am so not mature enough for this. I mean, I know that Derek is 26 and I should have expected, like, adult things, but not this fast, you know? Also, itâs not only that there will be kids, but his sister, who he hasnât talked to for years. What if I fuck that up? What if I do something stupid and ruin their newfound bond?â
âStiles. Trust me, you wonât. Derek likes you,â Scott says in a serious tone, the one that belies his youthful features and makes him sound really wise. âHe believes it will be okay, otherwise he wouldnât have asked you to go. Besides, he wants you to meet them. Thatâs a big thing.â
âI know,â Stiles groans. âI just donât want to fuck this up, too. I have made quite a lot of mistakes lately, but this is something that I want to do well,â he confesses, although he suspects Scott knows all this, maybe knew it even before he himself did.
âAnd you wonât. Just be yourself, be nice to them and if youâre unsure about something, be honest with Derek.â
âDude, when did you become so wise?â
Scott laughs, and looks at the camera. âI miss you, buddy.â
âYeah, I miss you, too.â Thereâs a beat before Stiles continues. âThank you. Honestly, dude, thank you for always being there for me. Youâre the best.â
âAww, dude, stop, youâre going to make me cry here,â Scott sniffles and waves at Stiles. âNow go and get something for the birthday girl.â
Stiles says goodbye, promises to call soon, and leaves his dorm to meet Derek and buy a present together.
They brainstorm over coffee and Stiles talks excitedly about games that are probably not even age appropriate for Zoe, but he likes the sound of them. Stiles is too excited to notice the adoration in Derekâs eyes as he watches Stiles gesticulate wildly, showing images on his phone to Derek, describing toys and games. In the end, they go with wooden blocks and a picture book â neither of which are princessy because Stiles is a firm believer of gender-neutral toys. Derek believes him and lets him call the shots. Stiles thanks him by giving him a long, slow kiss in the car that leaves Stilesâ insides tingling. Derek just looks dazed when he pulls back, and a small smile spreads across his face.
---
On the day of the birthday party, Stiles has to get up rather early which makes him grumpy. He stumbles to his kettle to make some tea â he decides that should be enough caffeine, he doesnât want to end up too pumped lest he makes an ass of himself. After a quick shower, he picks up a dark blue and read plaid shirt and khaki pants, fixes his hair and heads downstairs. Derek is already waiting for him in the parking lot, eyes looking tired but glinting as he sees Stiles.
The drive to Lauraâs is a peaceful one, they listen to some music, holding hands. Stilesâ palm is slowly getting clammier and clammier, but Derek doesnât say anything, he just rubs circles into it.
Derek kills the engine in front of a lovely two-story building, and as they step out of the car, Stiles can already hear rowdy children running around in the backyard. He walks to Derek, takes a deep, steadying breath and nods at him. Derek wraps his arms around him in a tight hug and Stiles melts into it. With a soft kiss to his temple, they straighten and head to the door, hand in hand.
Stiles isnât sure what he expected to see when the door opens, but he is greeted with⊠well, Derek if Derek was a few years older and a woman. Same dark hair, although Lauraâs seems naturally wavy, expressive but sculpted eyebrows and the same twinkling eyes, which are just a shade or two closer to blue than Derekâs.
âDerek!â she exclaims and pulls her brother in a bear hug. âIâm so glad you could make it. And you must be Stiles,â she looks over at Stiles, who is standing there awkwardly, feeling like someone poured a bucket of water down his back, the fabric of his shirt sticking to his back. âIâve heard so much about you,â she continues which makes Stiles quirk an eyebrow at Derek.
Derek just laughs a little and answers with his own expressive eyebrows that say âWhat? I do talk about you to my familyâ and that soothes Stilesâ nerves some.
âHi Laura. Itâs really nice to finally meet you,â Stiles extends his hand, but Laura wraps him up in another big hug. Seems like the Hales are huggers, which Stiles is more than okay with. He misses his dadâs hugs and this reminds him of home.
âCome on in, we are just getting ready to start cooking. Zoe is already helping her dad measuring out flour to make cookies.â
She leads them to the kitchen where a little army of kids are standing on kiddie steps to be able to reach the countertops and help their moms or dads.
Stiles is introduced to everyone as Derekâs partner, which makes him both embarrassed (they never said it out loud, he always just assumed they were there) and extremely proud. Lauraâs husband, Zach gives him a knife and heâs tasked with peeling potatoes while Derek is chopping carrots. The kids are loud and messy, but Stiles wouldnât trade this for anything. The adults are making jokes, the kids are signing and competing, trying to make the most impressive cookie shapes (there are dinosaurs, witches, sharks and dogs, too).
While the food is getting ready, Laura comes over to them to chat. She hands both Derek and Stiles a coke each, which makes Stiles what Derek has told her, but he decides he doesnât mind if Derek told her about his previous alcohol problem. Derek is looking out for him and he appreciates it. Laura herself is drinking some juice, too.
âSo Stiles. Tell me how you two met.â
Stiles almost chokes on his drink but composes himself quickly to reply âIn school. Derek was my lecturer.â
Which is true, but not even half of the truth. Derek and Laura share some intense eyebrow-conversation that Stiles canât even begin to understand, but he feels like this was a test.
âHe isnât anymore, by the way,â he clarifies.
âIâm glad to hear that,â Laura smiles at him, but it is a knowing smile. She looks to Derek then and ruffles his hair. Derek pulls a face, but Stiles can see nothing but love in his eyes.
The rest of the day is spent with a delicious lunch, board games and a lot of laughing. Surprisingly, Stiles bonds with Zoe quite easily over dinosaurs and cookies, and Derek just watches them, leaning against Laura, whispering into each otherâs ears.
Stilesâ heart is light in his chest, fluttering excitedly when he sees Derek this happy and relaxed.
âIâm glad we went. I really needed this,â he whispers as he closes the distance to kiss Derek when he drops Stiles off that night at the dorm.
