So there’s a lot of debate over who’s responsible for Ed’s turn to the Kraken (or, as I like to call it, “the Krakening”), and I think that’s partly because no one person can be blamed. Ed is a deeply hurt and traumatized individual thanks to his life pre-canon, and that hurt can be attributed to a lot of things -- his father, Hornigold, the society he grew up in, the culture of piracy, toxic masculinity.
But there are three key events that we actually see happen between the dock and Ed pushing Lucius overboard, and these three events in combination are the lead-up to the Krakening:
Event one: Stede running away. Stede doesn’t show up at the dock and Ed, convinced that he’s unlovable and of course Stede wouldn’t come for him, accepts abandonment and heartbreak.
Event two: Izzy. “I should’ve let the English kill you.” “This, whatever it is that you’ve become, is a fate worse than death.” “This! This is Blackbeard, not some namby pamby in a silk gown pining for his boyfriend!” “I serve Blackbeard, not Edward. Edward better watch his fucking step.”
Event three: the crew’s chanting. After Izzy leaves, Ed faintly hears the crew laughing and asking for another song. This is the last time we see Ed before he pushes Lucius overboard.
Okay.
After Stede panics and runs and Ed returns to the Revenge alone, he cries and eats marmalade in a blanket fort. He’s heartbroken and sad, not smearing on the eyeliner and hitting the rhino horn. Lucius gets through to Ed with “maybe life just begins again,” Ed sings his little song in front of the crew, and then he starts cleaning up.
I’ve seen this scene in S1 compared to the scene in S2 where Ed is tidying his cabin up on the day he’s decided to die. While we should absolutely read these scenes as parallels, I think it’s a mistake to say that they’re the same thing -- that is, scenes of Ed cleaning his depression mess, cheered up by what he thinks is his impending death.
In fact, I think that the S2 scene is sadder when we have these two contrasting Eds. Ed in S1 is newly hopeful. He’s still sad, but he has a community that cares about him and the hope that he can be different. He doesn’t have to be the dread pirate Blackbeard; he can just be Ed in the space that Stede created, even if Stede himself is gone. Ed doesn’t have the same dark energy in S1 that he has in S2 after he has firmly rejected hope for change and anything beyond Blackbeard. S1 is life beginning again; S2 is life coming to an end.
See above: S1 Ed (bright-eyed, a little manic, open, hopeful that life can begin again)
See below: S2 Ed (dull-eyed, very manic, vaguely menacing, only hope is death)
So event one -- Stede leaving -- isn’t responsible for the Krakening. We can’t know what might have happened if Izzy had, say, been tossed overboard in a mutiny, but it wouldn’t have been the season two we got. In my opinion, every indication points to Ed recovering in the company of the crew.
Next we have the confrontation with Izzy. This, I think, is the real turn.
Izzy is cruel here. He hates Ed being soft so much that he tells Ed he’d be better off dead. His wording is an implication that Ed is alive at Izzy’s pleasure (“I should have let the English kill you”) as well as a warning that Izzy’s loyalty to Blackbeard does not extend to Edward.
I don’t think that Ed interprets Izzy as a direct threat, but Izzy is -- as always -- acting as a manifestation of toxic masculinity. This scene is the world saying that Ed can’t be soft and gentle if he wants to survive. He can’t mourn lost love. He doesn’t have the luxury of healing in a community.
Ed, still raw and sad, is being reminded that he’s not allowed to be just Ed. Just Ed has been told his entire life that he’s not meant for fine things, and whenever he reaches for a fine thing -- friendship, love, community -- he’s told that pirates don’t have friends, he’s unlovable, and he’d better watch his fucking step. Just Ed wasn’t enough for Stede, so how can he be enough for anyone else? For the crew? For Izzy and everyone else in a world that seems to want Blackbeard?
After event two, Ed is on the precipice. He’s unbalanced and uncertain. He isn’t sure that life can begin again after all. And then he hears the crew.
Offscreen and far away, the crew asks “Eddie” for another song. We know that there’s no maliciousness in that because the crew likes the Ed they’ve seen, but Ed is vulnerable. He doesn’t hear friends; he’s not used to having friends. He’s used to Jack and Izzy, who both betrayed him. He’s used to the people on the party boat who pretended to like him and then turned on him. If Ed isn’t valuable, lovable, or even worth liking, then why would the crew genuinely want him to come back? They must be mocking him.
Lucius gave Ed hope that he could have fine things. Izzy yanked that hope away and, in this moment of doubt, Ed can only hear further confirmation that he was wrong to want better than the violence of Blackbeard.
It’s not a coincidence that the first things Ed purges are his red silk and Lucius. The silk is now a warning against reaching for fine things, and Lucius is the one who encouraged him to be soft and vulnerable in front of the crew -- something that he thinks the crew rejected. Ed moves to protect himself by abandoning all hope for things that he has been told aren’t for people like him.
In conclusion: a lot of things contributed to the Krakening and the main villain here, as it often is in this show, is toxic masculinity and patriarchy.
#and Izzy is our poster boy for toxic masculinity so make of that what you will#ofmd#ofmd meta#edward teach#i was laying in bed immobilized by pain and my brain was like#you know what would help?#thinking about ed being sad#(it did not help)#me typing things

top 5 least favorite twd characters and why?
Huh… So I never fully thought about this before so I had to sit and weigh the characters. For this I’m gonna use old cast that’s gone too!
These aren’t in any particular order either!
Maggie Greene-Rhee : Since Maggie came onto the scene she never struck me as someone I would get along with. As the years on the show go by, I find I’m right. Maggie has done a lot of good for everyone around her yes. She helped save Judith and birthed her, she can be strong and she’s generally reliable… But she’s selfish and she lets her overall emotions take over things to the point people get hurt or she gives up. I understand the giving up is her way of protecting what mental health she has left, but it’s frustrating still. I’m talking about her simply forgetting about Beth and expecting that her sister wasn’t strong enough and died with the prison or on the bus. She was so focused and reliant on Glenn that Maggie lost faith and sight for family. And as for selfish, Maggie got Daryl to help her drag Rick out into the middle of nowhere and then Rick gets hurt trying to lead a hoard of walkers away. Why? Because she didn’t get her way with Negan. Rick shouldn’t have made the final call on his own I agee to that, but Maggie put people in danger and she’s still pulling crap and mean mugging about Negan when she HAD the chance to finish him in his cell. But she backed out. And people got hurt and taken away. So yes, people can call Daryl out for his own roll. But Maggie made the calls. Just like she did for Oceanside and Arat and the others. Her pain and anyone’s personal pain should not give them the right to take lives and break pattern to play judge and executioner. And if she goes about doing just that to Negan in S11, then she’s letting Hershel Jr see that “oh I can do what I want in this world like mom”. And he’ll become the brat he is in the comics… I just don’t really vibe to Maggie at all. And I’ve tried. Like I said, she’s done good and I respect that. But… Idk. No vibe.
Queen Carol/Carol Peletier : This one upsets me honestly. Carol is suffering from the brutal loss of another child. She’s drawing into herself and away from what was healthy for her. But that doesn’t excuse putting people’s lives in danger! She got Connie trapped and left for dead, she about caused the war to start early with the Whisperers. She is taking over and making choices that she deems right but gets other’s hurt and especially hurt Daryl, who has been trying so hard to help her and be there for her. She shit on him. Multiple times. In multiple ways. It’s upsetting. And I know. Her mental health isn’t in a good place. But mental health is not an excuse to be a piece of shit and hurt your family and friends. She’s always pulled stuff like this and it’s annoying. I did bad stuff when I was mentally breaking down, but my amount of apologizing doesn’t make it better or take away what I did. Actions show growth. And I’m not seeing any with her.
Philip Blake/The Governor - This man got on my nerves instantly. A lot of people say he was the best villain and he was the best season. I think he was absolutely annoying. He was some charismatic dipshit who fell just like Shane and many others did. But because he had a leadership position he comes off as “menacing”. He just annoyed me honestly. The episodes just about him are my least favorite episodes. Sorry. He’s fun to make a villain in fanfics but I don’t like him.
Morgan Jones - I know he’s in Fear now. But when Morgan came back to Rick and then went all “we mustn’t kill and be peaceful” and then fell and went wacky then ran off… I had no use for Morgan on the show. His back and forth with Carol was interesting at first but it was always gonna fail and that just annoyed me. I personally didn’t understand why he was brought back when there were other mentioned and past characters left on “IDK” that I feel would’ve been more interesting to bring back. Lenny is great. Love him. But I was glad Morgan went to Fear (I don’t watch Fear. Watched S1, gave up on it, don’t vibe with it…)
RJ Grimes - I’m horrible I know! I’m sorry. I think it’s cute Rick and Michonne have a kid but it seemed like a throw in to make Rick being gone sadder than it already was. And it does make it sad, but RJ isn’t really used. He’s not used like Judith is. Judith is older I know I know. But RJ doesn’t do anything that makes him stick out. He has scenes where they could write him out and reshoot the scene and you’d never know the kid was supposed to be there… I kinda feel the same about Hershel Jr too but we haven’t had much with him yet for me to feel him out besides think “Awww Glenn would love you to pieces” or “Beth would be such a good aunt to you” or “Hershel would absolutely cherish you”…. I know it’s to represent the future and finding peace to raise a kid in an apocalypse etc etc but… Meh lol 😅
I know some of these are gonna get my ass beat up. Sorrry… But anon asked and I’m gonna be honest sooo… Sorry kit sorry?

Live reactions to S3E5 of Misfits below because... I dunno, slapping it all under a cut is probably less annoying lol. :’>
- Is it bad that the opening scene made me think of Jamie? Jamie and Seth look like that could’ve been buds. Like a biker gang or something.
- I find it really interesting that Kelly, even with a guy like Seth, is still putting up walls and giving him the aloof act. I appreciate the consistency (rare in Misfits lol) but aw man, it is kinda sad, isn’t it? I get it, though. Poor thing. I think Seth/Kelly is a little left field but I do hope she has a happy ending with this one. Kelly deserves happiness and so does Seth.
- I keep telling myself not to compare Rudy and Nathan but omg... the little awkward lean against the support beam... Nathan does that when Simon catches him and Alisha spying on him. And then the two condom thing... I know I’m being ridiculous here and they aren’t the same character at all, but I’m gonna have to make a parallels gif set. I just know it. I can feel it. It has to happen. It was awkward at first because I missed Nathan, but the more I see of Rudy, the more I like him. He’s grown on me.
- I feel like production value went way up during this season.
- EXCUSE ME??? WHO??? TELLS THEIR GIRLFRIEND, WHO IS IN A COMA, THAT YOU’RE LEAVING THEM? YO, DUDE, I KNOW IT’S HARD TO SEE HER LIKE THAT BUT C’MON. You!! Don’t know!!!!!!! That she can’t hear you!!!!!! Maybe she can!! YOU CAN’T! oml
- I like how Kelly’s first response to seeing a patient in trouble is to calmly and slowly walk into the room to ask them if they’re okay (when they clearly can’t speak because even if they weren’t in a coma, they do have a tube down their throat) instead of immediately finding a nurse or pressing the alert button.
- Wait this hurts.
- LOL I... really love how Simon just deals with Rudy’s weird stories. That’s cute.
- O h? Is that grafitti some Bad Wolf-esque foreshadowing? 👀
- Wow. Lauren Socha is such a good actress??? What the heck. I’m gonna have to watch her in something else. I need to know if she has range.
- ...This isn’t mean, I love Kelly’s shape, but there’s no way Kelly can fit in Jen’s clothes.
- Not a fan of this weird tension that happens occasionally between Curtis and Simon. I think it’s IC for Simon to be a little jealous, I like that he still has his insecurities, but it’s a little annoying when it’s directed toward Curtis. I dunno. I guess it’s fair given that he’s the ex, but I don’t like it.
- Kelly looks great in a leather jacket.
- OOOH gosh. Sometimes, man... sometimes Simon gives this look and does this thing with his body language that’s just SO scary.
- ...As much as I dislike Curtis’ power, I think Alisha’s has to be my least favorite of the new powers. I wish Simon would use his foresight more, too.
- Something about Simon watching Freaky Friday is really funny to me.
- How many times are these idiots gonna have to sneak out bodies. They’re professionals at this point.
- Bahahaha Shaun is so nonchalant. Random coma patient in the communtiy centre? Just another day. I love him.
- WAIT NO SHAUN NO WAIT NO!!!
- NO?????????????????????????????????? NO?? NO!
- I’m not gonna think about the legal issues with what’s-his-face pulling the plug instead of a nurse. Or like... how they’re gonna explain that Jen’s body is there at the community centre. Or how the gang is gonna get away with security footage of them stealing a body from the hospital (which there would have to be, there’s no way they didn’t get caught on camera). I can’t go full clown. This is Misfits. 🤡
- Also I totally thought they were going to grab an animal or something off the street and then give it to the boyfriend or parents or something to take care of so Jen could live on at least for a while longer as something else than die. I don’t know why I thought that. It just felt like it’d be on brand. Don’t @ me LOL. (I’m glad I was wrong; I think it’s a much nobler end for Jen to own up to what she did and have her goodbye.)
- That is totally some Bad Wolf-esque forshadowing. And clearly slapped on in post!
Final thoughts:
Not a bad episode. I liked it well enough. It was entertaining and this one got a few laughs (for some reason Seth saying “Hi” and Rudy going feral at him got me). I don’t have too much to say about it, really, it’s a pretty standard episode. So far I think Peter’s episode is still my favorite just for the more superhero-y hijinks, but this ep had some really nice protective Simon moments and I really enjoyed Seth. The music was pretty good, but the Misfits soundtrack is always killer.
I hate that my only big note is a complaint, but... I’m finding it really hard to connect with the characters this season, even the OGs. I get bursts of it, primarily with Simon and Rudy, but overall something just feels wrong. No one except maybe Curtis feels OOC and yet? Something about the characters is off. It feels like I’m looking at an alternate universe where everything is the same except for some itty bitty detail and I can’t place what it is. And before anyone says it, no it’s not because Nathan isn’t there lol. He was the heart of the series for me, but I don’t think his absence is what feels wrong. It’s definitely something about the writing or within the remaining characters themselves.
I? Almost want to say that it’s an issue of the gang not feeling like a family anymore? They don’t feel as close. I know Misfits has always primarily been about hijinks and outrageous plots, but I almost wanna say that S1 and S2 had more focus on character relationships than S3 so far? We get a little more into the nitty gritty of Alisha’s relationships with Simon, Rudy, and Curtis (even though her “problem” with Curtis in E2 made no sense) but besides that... it just doesn’t feel like we’re getting the meat that we did in S1 and 2. Granted, that is two seasons versus one.
Oh yeah. And RIP Shaun. I knew he was gonna die but I didn’t expect it so soon. That sucks. I think that his death would have been sadder if the show hadn’t exposed his grosser aspects, like how he creeps on girls and... he’s just kind of a skeevy perv. Which, I know most of the male characters in this show are perverts to some degree, but it works better for everyone else because they have some redeeming qualities that make them more endearing and their faults more palatable. Shaun doesn’t quite have the endearment factor to pad out how uncomfortable he was in E2 and E4 (making him into a villain for E4 was a bad move too). I think if he had shown just a hint of really caring about the gang, even privately, then maybe I’d be sadder. Oh well. He’s still the best probation worker. I’ll miss him.
Anyway, anyway. Enough complaining. One last good thing: Rudy continues to grow on me. I am so intrigued by how he handles his split (how his splits handle each other?). I feel like I need to come up with a better term. But that’ll do for now. I really, really hope that Overman doesn’t just sweep all those issues under the rug. It seems like he did that with Rudy and Alisha’s relationship (which is a bummer!) and I think it’d be so cool for Rudy to either find peace with that inner conflict or at least be able to better cope with Rudy One and Rudy Too so they’re not always squabbling. Love Rudy, though. Him and Nathan would’ve butted heads to be the funny one, I think, but good friends after a while. Oh, the terror those two could have caused...

CS Season 3 Thoughts...
Okay, overall?? Kinda disappointed, like a lot of people. Only five episodes, its been covered. Its disappointing. But lets go over them, shall we...
The Luchadora Tango Caper
Overall thoughts? Well, this season seems so....separated? Kind of out of character and disconnected. I’ll go over why at the end.
Haha, do the Cleaners do everything?? They can cook, rig explosives, kidnap people, play bagpipes, fly a helicopter...is technology really their weakness? Oops. That’s not for another few episodes.
Poor Cleo. She seems rather out of character in this season too. All she wants is to be warm. Throughout, she seems so...almost inexperienced? Where’s the sharp-tongued, sarcastic, delicate in taste and style Cleo we know? She’s there in places.....just...
They faked us out. I thought we were going to see Carmen tangoing. Also, is it just me, or is there a lot of...leg wrapping...this season..?
Ah yes, thank you, musical cues, I was worried Shadow-san had torn Carmen to pieces since Season 3. That’s her triumph score; maybe its like a “welcome back to cs” or something. Honestly, the whole “she’s been missing all summer” seems weird and unexplained, and unnecessary.
Does Veracruz exist? Yes, it does, how did that fly under our radars?
“I have his eyes” tore me to bits. Oh my gosh what a line. She’s seeing her father for the first time.
Thank you for showing us the 10 passports and giving us some pictures, we will never hear anything about Dexter or Vera after this episode again
She was an adorable baby and Carmen acknowledging this is hilarious
“Who may I have the pleasure of declining?” is another really funny line to me
This fight between Carmen and Spinkick has no suspense and its really a bad one to be honest, but holy crap Spinkick can dent stone lol
It makes a lot of sense that Catching Carmen Sandiego 101 is a class now, lol. I really want to see it. That- those fights were horrible by the way. Does Shadowsan know how to use the bolas? Because we know Carmen sure can’t.
Coach sure does like making messes and ruining tables
Ivy is so supportive this season and I am here for it. Kinda unlike Zack who is just “Hi, I hate fish and I misunderstand names” guy.
Yeah Maelstrom, what the hell did you let her walk for? Brunt easily captured her and you want to enforce sketchy psychological doubts in her mind? What?
Don’t show your face, Maelstrom says to Brunt. You know. After kidnapping a law enforcer with apparently perfect face memory recall who now has your face plastered all over wanted posters. Oh, and that Lutedor you knocked out didn’t see your face either
There is so much indirect calling Carmen good looking this season? What? I mean she is but it is so weird
Zack saying juicy steaks is so so uncomfortable
Carmen is so disengaged this season???? *Finds a link to her mother and pictures of her father* oh its another *sad sigh* link to my past. *Wow, you look like your mother, and I knew her, and her name!* Oh. Can you tell me about her.. Family is Carmen’s main trigger and source of steam in s1 and, mostly, s2. Now we get actual parts about it and she seems like she doesn’t care.
HAHA! Julia even gets her own little entrance with music and “camera” angles. And she is SO dismissively sassy sometimes in this season, I love what little we do get of her. I mean it is REALLY out of character, she hardly ever gets sassy/angry. But everyone is out of character so what the hell might as well enjoy it
“We have a fresh Carmen sighting!” Devineaux: “Haha!” Julia: *sigggggghhh* Julia girl, whats up? Please don’t leave forever. I know you said your head was in the game but your heart wasn’t, but? What? Why? Your heart seems to have been in it in season 2! Did you have a really bad summer??
Player has a space alien and a sock on his dresser and why am I not surprised
Okay, Carmen, because sitting down against a door you’re waiting to open (and you have waited for three seconds) is a great thing to do
Hahhaha Player. “I’m sorry, did you not attend a school for thieves?” Carmen is so sad though “Hey, just broke into your house, I’m your long lost daughter” and she should be sadder about the long lost daughter thing!??! It is so out of character!?!?
And so, Uncatchable Master Super Thief Carmen Sandiego breaks into an unknown house without checking it for people or weapons, after waiting three seconds to be let in. What? What?
The casual use of “mommy” and “daddy” is so, so very strange and I hate it a lot
*Snort* Zack and Ivy are doing their best but it is sot hard to see how they got caught by VILE in TSONTS
jgkjjdf Ivy just slings Zack to the floor and he can not move her an inch
I love Lupe a lot and I hope she returns
Carmen is more wholesome in this season too, it seems, probably because of this whole disengaged character shift but its cute
Devineaux *s t r u t s*
I would be concerned if Chief hadn’t made him take the driving course but I was still terrified for Julia’s life ALSO JULIA JUST. ROLLS HER EYES SASSY QUEEN
How is it that Zack and Ivy haven’t been arrested or killed yet, they have been seen so many times with her
Ah, yes. The famed roses scene. Okay, fine, fine....ugh
Julia is looking for Carmen behind because she learned her lesson with Devineaux! yes
Julia knows what is up but Devineaux gesturing at the trophies is pretty funny
Carmen just gets yoinked off her feet by Brunt and it is the most concerned she has been all season and will be all season because getting lifted off your feet in a crowded public place with strong friends and lawmen all around is much scarier than being electrocuted, kidnapped, and gagged on a plane going to an unknown location
Coach Brunt was the Imposter
“This isn’t your fight,” Carmen says, instead of accepting help from the woman who she has seen easily lift probably 300 pounds or more to help her get rid of the lady who’s tried to murder her like twice and nearly succeeded
Oh my gosh Devineaux actually spots her peeking out and recognizes her instead of blindly following Zack/Ivy and Carmen is PEEKING OUT WHY
Carmen is handcuffed and its really funny She just drags him along like later would be a much better time for her fhdgfkhdhsf Also she is much funnier when she threatens people with a bumbling idiot cuffed to her wrist, although he is much less of a bumbling idiot this season, I must say
Of. Course. Carmen has a device which just unlocks handcuffs why wouldn’t she?!
How is Devineaux not dead
HAHA SHE JUST EXAPSERATEDLY DRAGS HIM AWAY “COME ON DEVINEAUX” that is quiet honestly hilarious to me like “My god why do I have to keep dragging you out of stupidly dangerous situations involving Brunt where you get injured”
Oh? Did they rehearse Lupe jumping off Carmen’s back? Lupe had no way to know Carmen was strong or steady enough to handle that
Saira cackling at Brunt getting beat up is the best thing I’ve ever witnessed and she is drawing a thief cat oh my god
Did Lupe still win if that wasn’t her opponent and she had help from Carmen and a debatably helpful policeman
Julia my child what happened to you? Why are you like Zari now?
Devineaux just can’t keep a car in good condition ever can he? I love how Julia just stands there covering her mouth with her hands
My god Carmen are you going to tell your story and motives to every person you meet this season? Oh? Yes? Oh, okay
No, Brunt, not a single soul saw your face. Nope.
VILE is so, so very unsinister during most of these episodes. They went from murder and trauma to pumpkin carving and nougat
Well, anyway. I’ll do more episodes coming soon.

1x17 - Woman on the Verge
wanted to do this one like two weeks ago, but alas it wasn’t possible. Just one more episode to go and season one will be done.. and I’m going to miss it.
As usual recap’s under the break
Thoughts I had while watching:
Georgina is obssesed, she also looks fabolous.
I know is his brand of humour but still Dan cames across as really obnoxious, almost mocking his dad excitment about his performance for Rolling Stone. And I did watched VH1 clasics.
Rufus actually pointing out the fact that Serena probably lies to him because she’s afraid of what he will think because he’s really good at being judgy, and yet Dan doesn’t get it.
For real Dan’s like “so I should learn to be someone else around her so she can be herself around me” and I want to pull my hair out
It still surprises that Nate and Vanessa doesn’t bother me at all.
“Are you drunk dialing again?” the show always robbed us of the best stuff. What I wouldn’t give to see those calls. Just imagine it, drunk Blair, amused Chuck, priceless.
Most akward elevator ride ever. Well Chuck at least tried to be cordial, too bad Nate ignored him.
Dan is Serena’s number one on speed dial, no surprises there I guess.s
This such a glimpse of the old days, this was a routine they knew well and one can tell, the three of them helping a drunk Serena. And Chuck being pervy as usual.
I always forget Lily was into photography back in the day.
Dan asking if Nate, Chuck and Blair don’t hate each other, and Nate and Blair are like yes, and Chuck’s like no, never fails to crack me up.
Also I love how Chuck and Blair’s are so matchy here. They look good.
He has reason to be pissed I get it, yet Dan asking Serena for the truth as if he were the spanish inquisition is not the way to go.
“I had three perfect weddings, I want this one to be more perfect than perfect” I love Lily.
THe love Dorota has for these kids, never fails to warm my heart.
Blair and Nate pointing out how they’re not perfect and then Chuck is like “i’m Chuck Bass” like that’s the only explanation needed it, is probably my fave time in the series of him dropping that line.
“We’re the non judginb breakfast club” have I’ve mentioned how much I loved this scene? It’s I think the first time show explicitly let’s us know that the four of them were best friends before everything got messed up between them.
So Georgina was Chuck’s first, and I’ve always get the feeling there was some interesting history there, she going psycho on him, and him avoiding her ever since? Makes me wonder.
The Shepperd’s wedding ended up being more life changing for these kids than the bride and groom.
Serena left the wedding wearing Nate’s shirt, how did Nate explained that? Where was Blair?
The whole story of Serena, Pete and Georgina that night is awful, poor Serena keeping that secret for more than a year, it’s also really sad.
Lily’s words to Serena, are such a shame, sure she doesn’t know the facts and she’s worried about her wild daughter, but the fact is it only reinforces Serena’s belief that those that love her can’t see past her mistakes.
Seeing Lisa Loeb at Rufus concerct here it’s so weird.
Blair’s love for Serena, and viceversa is one of the best aspects of this show, and I just love how she went to Lily and set things right.
Nate taking the subway and calling Blair to give intel so she can scheme, it’s a brand new world for him.
Chuck’s always so gentlemanly with Lily, and I love it.
And Chuck and Blair are back for a scheme. Such a short bit, but is one of my faves of them because their faces are priceless, and it’s so them.
Ah Vanessa, always messing up stuff even when she doesn’t meant to. Thanks for letting Georgina know that the gig is up.
She may mess up constantly, but when she admits she is wrong and is actually there for her kids, Lily’s the best.
The whole Georgina and Dan thing is so ugh to me. This whole plot is so messed up knowing the ending of this show.
I wish we had a glimpse of that limo ride between Nate, Chuck and Blair, with them trying so hard to ingore each other. Akward much.
Pretty much the way Chuck and Blair awkardly stand next to each other the minute Nate leaves with Vanessa.
“I’m a big Leaky Hawk fan” nice try Blair.
Is there somewhere a full recording of the song Rufus is singing?
For once Georgina is right, Dan ain’t that good, and it’s time Serena realizes that.
I miss when one could take the battery out of the phone. I didn’t remember Georgina did that to Dan’s phone though.
This episode deserves a spot in the hall of fame of Gossip Girl episodes if only for the fact that is the episode that gave us The Non judging breakfast club. This is an episode that let’s us know a lot about the past, we finally know Serena’s secret and in learning that truth we also learn about the bond between Serena and her friends, particularly Blair and also how her mother can actually do help her and make her feel better. There’s a lot of love in this episode and it’s something I didn’t particularly noticed the first time around. The scene where Blair speaks up and defends Serena against Lily and she actually listens and helps her daughter is one of those moments that really makes this show more layered. Blair is also so sweet and loving with Serena this episode, their friendship is the heart and soul of this show, and it was nice when the show focus on that rather on creating never ending conflict between them.
The tale of what happened that night between Serena, Georgina and Pete seemed so much sadder to me this time around, because when one stops to think about it Serena is barely sixteen, and yet she’s already so caught up in a wolrd of sex, alcohol and drugs, and she was about to get a sex tape done about her without her knowledge, that’s really messed up, and she cames to this clusterfuck filled with guilt, we know by now the kind of friendship Serena and Blair have, about Blair’s insecurities and Serena’s not blind to this, she knows that what she just did with Nate is posibly the worst thing she could have done to Blair, it’s something that can be erased and it’s going to be more than likely the end of their friendship, it’s a nightmare, and then something even worse happens. It’s so much for a 16 year old, no wonder she runs away, and like Lily said it had a deep impact on her, and one of the reasons why she changes for the better. It was plain and simple the worst night of her life, and she’s deeply ashamed of it, and as such is hard for her to be honest about it, and it scares her to think what everyone would think of her.
Is the promise that no matter what they will support her that finally gets Serena to tell the truth to Nate, Chuck and Blair and when she does they are so suportive of her, no hesitation, Chuck’s already been helping her with Georgina, and Nate is someone who would always be there for her, and Blair, they’re sisters, and she proves to her what she said last episode, she won’t let go. These are the people that really love her, that know her better than anyone, and it’s such a contrast to Dan’s attitude.
Earlier today I got some asks about Dan and how he idealised Serena, she herself this episode said he puts her on a pedestal, and it got me thinking... on earlier recaps I’ve mentioned how the relationship started cracking when her past caught up with her, but there’s no way Dan by being Gossip Girl didn’t know about her wild past, he creates the site because he wants to find an in with her... but at that point she’s nothing remotely like the Serena he actually ends up dating, so why did he wanted to date her? If he hated that world, if she partied, lied, did drugs and was very unlikely to want anything serious? So what did he want? The only possible answer to me is that he went into this with his hero complex front and center, he wanted to date her to save her, to get her to be different, his perfect girl, the good Serena, the one that only came to be when she dated him.
I’ve been complaining about the show pointing out how good Dan was for Serena, that since he came into the picture she was differente, and how Dan bought into that, how he believe it and why he kept judging her when she didn’t comply to his way of seeing thigns, that he got pissed because in his mind he was like: realy hadn’t she heard everyone said he was good for her, so she should listen to his judgment, don’t prove him wrong in believing in her, but I was seeing as Dan gaining that belief because of the way things had developed between then and people, even Lily pointing it out, and now I kind of think he always thought it, even before he knew her, that she need him, and right now it’s making Serena’s comment of him having her in a pedestal not so good, because he has her in a pedestal not because he believes in her, but rather because he sees it as being all because of him, is almost a pedestal to his own ego. Maybe I’m seeing way into it, but the Georgina and Dan storyline makes me think all sort of crazy stuff.
I know the show didn’t knew Dan was Gossip Girl here, and people complain about this storyline the most in pointing out how that twist doesn’t make sense, but to me it sort of does, I can see it happening, is just that it makes Dan a 100 times creepier, because both him and Georgina are pretending, and this episode when he kiss her, it gaves way to different kind of arguments like maybe he kiss her because he wanted to hurt Serena, because he felt she deserved it, and he could do it because in the end it would never came across as the ugly action it was but rather as him being deceived by an evil manipulative mastermind and by the fact that Serena had led him to believe he cheated on him first. One can come up with many reasons to explain Dan’s actions, if one accepts the fact that he’s as manipulative and evil as Georgina since the start. The only difference between Dan in S1 and the one in later seasons is that he just felt he didn’t need it to hide anymore, and even then it was everyone else fault, they drove him to that point.
It also makes more sense why he was so mad about Serena hiding stuff from him, because he already knew, and in his mind maybe he believe he could be magnanimus about it, to be like, see I still love you, of course like Rufus pointed it out, he never gave Serena a reason to believe he would actually understand her. Nest episode is the last one, and I’m really excited.
Random bits I’ve noticed:
That robe Serena’s wearing, if I’m not mistaken Chuck wears it too on a later season. I love consistency.
And talking about consistency, when Lily is going through her contacts list, not sure about calling Bart, the contact at the top of the list is someone called Amelia. Most likely the same Amelia that makes an appearance next episode.

We've been fed so much lately!! What do you think of Luke's interview with Lisa and Terri's with pastemagazine? And are you happy Josh told us what he meant by the endgame changing?
Indeed we have anon. I loved Luke’s interview with Shine on Media, Lisa has been a fan of the show from the start and her questions are always good ones. I’m very glad we got confirmation that TJ is gay and that’s canon so there should be no more TJ sexuality discourse. Also nice to know that Luke knew TJ was gay from before the muffin scene and that he and Josh were trying to play things as gay as possible the entire time. We really lucked out getting Josh and Luke to play the first two openly gay characters on Disney Channel; that they were so happy and supportive of these roles and always did their best to come through for the audience. And nice to know that they both wanted the Tyrus story line to go faster, as did we all.
Another anon asked me why Terri wouldn’t have done a chemistry test with Josh and Luke when they were casting TJ which is a good question. Certainly the casting directors would have had that in mind since they cast someone Josh’s age and they obviously didn’t cast Luke for his basketball skills or skills at playing a villain. They did luck out that Josh and Luke ended up being such close friends and having such great on screen chemistry. I don’t think it’s a surprise that Luke’s acting got much better after 2x05 as TJ had an actual purpose and motivation. Terri really should have told him from the start but she would have had to if not by 2x08 then 2x11 for sure, as there’s no way to do the swingset scene if the actors and director and editors don’t all know that it’s a romantic scene.
It’s wild that Terri never took steps to make sure either Luke or his family weren’t homophobic or at least unwilling to play a gay character before bringing him on. That would have been a dark timeline, TJ either being written out early on and maybe some new character brought in to take his place or TJ still be used for the dyscalculia story line but then being dropped after S2 and likely no one replacing him as Cyrus’ love interest in S3 given how much more censored the gay story line was in S3.
I’m glad Josh came clean. That they were unsure that Tyrus would ever canon was my best guess and I’m working on another ask about it and laying out how the Tyrus story line in S3 has no real direction and with the exception of the gun plot is just fluffy or angsty filler. It’s sad to know that Tyrus came so close to never canoning and I can’t imagine how depressing it must have been for Josh and Luke to film the entire season not knowing if the Tyrus story line would ever have any pay off. I’m glad though that Terri was at least upfront with them that she wasn’t sure if she’d get canon Tyrus approved in the finale. A lot of Josh’s comments and actions come off much sadder now, like when he was so happy that Asher said Tyrus was real in their October press tour or when he commented on tumblr that the press tour was the first time Disney had let him speak openly about Tyrus. He must have been desperately seeking validation and any kind of hints he could that Disney would actually allow canon Tyrus.
That being said, the cast should never have been allowed to talk about Tyrus so openly and so often when they had no guarantee it would ever happen. All those cast interviews they did back in October almost ended up being massive queerbait. I don’t blame the cast as they’re all teens but the adults in their lives should have stepped in and reined things in.
Terri’s paste magazine interview comes off as extremely disingenuous especially in regards to the Tyrus kiss. I’m surprised so many people bought her spin but if she couldn’t even get permission for canon Tyrus until the very end of production which was well after the show had been cancelled then how on earth was she ever going to get a kiss or anything else approved? I could claim that I choose not to live in a mansion because it doesn’t fit my lifestyle but it’s not a real choice because I could never afford to buy a mansion just like Terri would never have been able to get a kiss approved or Cyrus saying aloud that he had a crush on TJ or Tyrus slow dancing or Cyrus founding a GSA club at school, or anything else she wants to pretend she could have done if only there had been one more season. And her ‘’queerbaiting and Disney censorship’’ instagram post back in November was wildly inappropriate when the gay story line was being obviously censored and when the entire Tyrus story line almost ended up being nothing more than queerbait. And for her to attempt an internalized homophobia story line in what she knew were the final eps of the series with a character she had no idea if she could ever confirm is gay is incredibly stupid.
Still I do feel sorry for Terri as I truly don’t think she knew when she brought TJ in that it would take this long to get so little pay off. The Tyrus story line began in the 20th ep of the series and didn’t canon until the 57th aired ep, two-thirds of the entire series went by before their feelings were explicitly confirmed. The look back was a huge mistake and built up expectations too high even with it being edited but logically if Disney approved TJ looking back at Cyrus in 2x25 it would have been a positive sign that they were open to exploring Tyrus at the time as the unedited look back would have let the audience know TJ was gay which would have given Terri reason to hope she could get them together before 3x20. I think it’s interesting that Josh compared canon Tyrus in S3 to Cyrus coming out in what was originally 1x13 when he’s talked before about how Cyrus was always slated to come out to Andi in 2x13. It really does suggest that Disney more or less let Terri write what she wanted for Cyrus’ arc in S2 which also fits with the Tyrus story line flowing very well before cracking down hard in S3.
Personally, I think the most interesting thing we learned from Terri’s interview is that they learned they would be cancelled when they were going to write 3x10. Looking back, 3x10 does seem like a rough dividing line for a lot of stories. Jonah’s panic attacks are addressed in 3x11 then dropped, Jamber is resurrected in 3x12 along with the wish and Amber suddenly becomes much more prominent in the final half of the season, Walker and Wuffy are disposed of, Marty is brought back and Muffy quickly set up to be endgame. Now that we know that Terri didn’t want endgame Jandi and didn’t know if she would ever get endgame Tyrus we can see why it was so important for the show to bring back Marty so Buffy could get her originally planned endgame. Interestingly, Andi’s art isn’t brought up again until 3x16 which is also when the S1 party was brought back up again which suggests that they didn’t settle on the finale party until then.
There’s one other big moment that happens right after 3x10 which is Cyrus using the word gay and coming out to Jonah in 3x11. I wrote this back in February after the Salt Lake Tribune spoiled that Cyrus would come out to Jonah:
‘’It’s nice that now all of Cyrus’ closest friends know about his sexuality but this does also read as a potential wrap up of Cyrus’ sexuality arc; Cyrus has come out to Buffy, Andi, and Jonah and is proud and confident in his identity and to label himself as gay, quite a far cry from the scared sad Cyrus we saw when he came out to Buffy. With Jonah now in on his secret there’s no more mystery left among his friend group and no need to talk about it again if that’s the path Disney chooses. I do think Terri got some stuff approved in the finale but this ep could very easily provide enough rep that Disney feels fine with having a quiet Korrasami style endgame instead. ‘’
It turns out that my sense of foreboding was correct as 3x11 was written as a potential series finale for the gay story line as they had no clue if Cyrus would ever be able to get together with TJ and indeed Cyrus never did discuss his sexuality ever again.
I’m glad we have a lot of the missing pieces filled in now. I’m also glad I wasn’t a cast or crew member as it seems like S3 would have been an anxious nerve wracking experience, waiting to see if the story line that had been planned from the beginning of S2 would have any pay off. I’m eternally grateful to Terri and Josh and Luke for what they managed to do and the history they made. And thank god Gary Marsh, for whatever reason, decided at the last minute to let those final 40 seconds of the bench scene to make it to air.

Gotham 4x22 - Review
Better late than never? I had a fever when watching this so...we’ll see how this goes.
Intense scene. “Promise?” I doubt she will die but this breaks my heart. Poor Selina :(
I have a hunch Bruce won’t be able to keep that promise.
All the cops giving Jeremiah the death stare.
“We couldn’t talk with his girlfriend bleeding all over him” Hmm...well, maybe you shouldn’t have shot her then?
“I am a very good engineer” So modest. I’m curious how well he would get along with Ed :P
Jeremiah’s obsession with Bruce never seizes to amaze me. Such a contrast to Jerome. Jerome wanted Bruce to suffer and die, Jeremiah wants Bruce to suffer and then become dark as he joins him.
Hugo Strange! They skipped finding him and threatening him and went straight to this!
I’m surprised Hugo automatically knows how to cure him. Has this happened before? Is there another Grundy running around?
This is not going to work out well for them. No couple gets a happy ending in Gotham.
“What? No, she’s in surgery. I’m going to go kill Jeremiah!” Haha well, that figures. You go, Tabby! I do love how much she cares for Selina. She has such a heart for her.
I am suspicious of what Oswald will do when Tabitha leaves. He’s being too nice. I sense betrayal.
Well, hello Ra’s. That’s not creepy at all. I wouldn’t be surprised if that is how he meets his best friends.
And another mayor bites the dust. At what point will people refuse to become mayor and they’ll have to draw names out of a hat to make someone take the role?
The way violence seems to un-faze Jeremiah. It’s like a punch to the face or a push to the wall means nothing.
Arrest Jim? Well, that’s a little extreme for disagreeing.
“It’s polite to let people finish” Yeah Jim, he has barely gotten to give riddles this season. Don’t ruin it!
“RISE AND SHINE! Good morning sweetheart” First off, the sweetheart ;) Second, I will not be surprised if people start setting this as their ringtones.
“Remember when you punched me in the face?” *slaps him dramatically* Wow, even his slaps are extra.
“We are a little pressed for time” *laughs at his own joke* ...wow, this is probably the most relatable Ed has ever been.
Ed with his long and extreme ways of killing someone.
I hate the motive but I do love seeing Ed go full on like this :)
So...does Ra’s really turn out the lights for dramatic effect? Is there someone working for him that turns it off? Ra’s: ready? go! Man: *turns off light* Ra’s: *fights people* Man: *turns it back on* Me: Bet he’s fun at parties.
Some of his power is off? Hmm...I still don’t understand the whole point of this Babs and the painting of the look alike.
This all just points to Ra’s totally trying to use her for the power.
What? This guy doesn’t even care anything about Jim at all? I mean, I know he isn’t exactly priority but still...
“Closer Please. Closer” I just expect him to keep saying this until they are face to face.
Destined as best friends? Well, you’re destined as something alright...
The wink XD With his bad eye, no less
I sincerely doubt that was the only bomb that was planted.
The way Jeremiah talks about Selina. Savage!
Wow, Lee is acting so calm about this.
“I am going to decide who I am going to be. Not you, not Jim Gordon.” Yes! Love it.
Lee is totally manipulating Ed by pretending not to care if Ed kills him so that she saves Jim’s life. It’s too obvious.
“She chose me” Umm not exactly Ed.
“One question: who do I get to kill?” Oh, Oswald, strutting in and ready to fight. He just couldn’t stay away.
Alfred, Babs, Tabby, and Oswald all working together? I love it!
Better hope Ed isn’t secretly listening to all this.
Honestly, at this point, I want Lee to be done with these romances. I just want her to be happy and independent for awhile.
Basically, Ra’s and his plan is “meh” to Jeremiah. He’s just all in it for Bruce.
“The brother I never had” “...together” aww how twistedly sweet of you.
Oh, so now he cares what happened when Jim was taken?
Just listen to Jim!
I love seeing the GCPD being so loyal. They have come a long way.
The demon’s head not working I guess is the convenient way to explain how they all get the drop on him.
Ha! I love how Oswald is the only one screaming as he shoots the gun, while everyone else just runs in. Honestly, it wouldn’t be an episode of Gotham if he didn’t.
Wait, Oswald shot Jeremiah and saved Tabby? I’m just...that seems so weirdly nice. This is the same person that murdered his mother and yet he’s doing this. Not like they would let Tabby die though. Is that the surprising thing for RLT? Him saving her? My memory of the interview is so vague all of sudden. No...it has to be a bad thing. This can’t be it.
Are you kidding me? They stab and kill him again? I mean, I never LOVED Ra’s but he was barely even alive!
That grin on Jeremiah. I oddly love how devilish it looks.
*Lee stabs Ed* What?! Oh, I did not see this coming. *Ed stabs Lee* Double stabbing! That one I was expecting.
Seriously? A kiss now?
So, in 4x14, Ed almost killed himself so that he wouldn’t try to kill Lee...now here we have Lee and Ed trying to kill each other. How poetic.
Whoa! Butch is back! ...Is he about to die?
I’m kind of sad by how kind of shallow it is that Tabby doesn’t say “I love you” until he is back to being Butch. Also a bit sad by how confusing the relationship status is with Babs/Tabby too.
*Oswald shoots him* Wow, he actually did it!
“Did you think I forgot that you murdered my mother?” Oh my god... YES. I mean, it’s sad that Butch is dead and I love Drew but like...I was just thinking about how Tabby killed Gertrude ...And I love callbacks way too much.
Wow. So, he waited and planned to get her back for two seasons. This is some crazy stuff. Impressively ingenious.
Hey, when did Oswald get the new henchmen?
*pans on Butch’s dead body* :( So sad...is that a tear rolling down his cheek? Was Butch crying? (UPDATE: It is very possible that was Drew crying from it being his last scene and now if that is a tear, this scene is even sadder.)
So, Selina won’t be able to walk? Surely this won’t last...at least I wouldn’t think. Unless they are going for something different.
Yes! You go, Bruce! It’s sad that you are leaving Selina but I love this. Be the dark knight! I hope this means Bruce will be the one to fight Penguin, Riddler, Jeremiah, Mr. Freeze, Scarecrow, and other new rogues next season.
Oh yes!!! Love the new digs for Penguin.
All these rogues carving up their territory. The montage, the costumes, the music. I love this so much. Why must season 5 be so short and be in 2019?
Savage Jon! Scarecrow got a new hat! I like :)
“Penguin says fix ‘em” Wait...Ed and Lee? Did they die? First, the thought of Penguin going straight to Ed after all this mess and refusing to accept Ed’s death makes me very happy. Second, oh my god! What is that smirk, Strange? What are you going to do?
Is she about to blame Penguin for everything? Ah, men...I mean, she has had a rough go with men so I guess I can see where her understanding goes.
Yay! Harvey and Foxy are staying :)
I didn’t even realize Jeremiah got away. Sneaky!
The future bat signal! I love it.
“I stayed to fight for the city” ...Wow. I was half expecting Jim to disapprove. Guess he knows it’ll be pointless and Bruce would just do whatever he wants anyway.
Manbat! Sweet. Hello mother, how are you? Wow, brutal.
Part of me is excited, the other part is hoping all of this won’t be too much in the final season.
Season 1 callback to their first meeting. “There is light” Love it :’)
Overall: Wow! What an episode! I loved it. Crazy to think that this is the last one for about a year but it definitely left an exciting impression.
Jeremiah was fun and had some great interactions with Bruce. Really building up that relationship in the past few episodes, which was nice. Overall, he’s great. However, I do still wish they could have introduced him sooner. We didn’t get to see enough. My hope is that we see plenty more of him next season.
Not a lot of Selina in this episode. Nice homage though. I’m curious where this story will take her, now that she is currently paralyzed.
The Oswald/Butch thing was sad. I mean, I’m sad for Butch and I love Drew so it sucks. Drew is an amazing actor and I will miss his presence very much. Also, no Grundy :/ That being said, it was a surprise reveal and callback that I did not see coming. I’m so used to so many shows always forgetting plot points or being so serial. So, any time that a show does a callback, I love it. It reminds me that the writer's actually remembered their work and that the characters think about their past. And, for someone that murdered a man for insulting Gertrude’s singing in S1, it would be odd for Oswald to just forget about Tabby murdering Gertrude. The writers found a way to keep Oswald in character while also keeping Tabitha alive, only they had to sacrifice Butch and push the Butch/Tabby relationship a bit in order to do it. That kind of leaves me conflicted :/
The whole Lee/Ed thing is...well, I think it is over and they will now focus on their own separate stories, which I prefer at this point. I’m curious what Strange will do to them next season. Doubt it will be anything major physically though.
Looks like rogues are taking territory, which is awesome! I expect every rogue to go embrace their personas like never before and now fully go up against Bruce. There’s also a few other rogues they are going to slip in, which will be fun.
All around, there is a lot to look forward to. Wanted to make this review a bit extra long, since it was the final one of the season. I wanted to cover some of the main things that I enjoyed. There were a few things that left me conflicted, like Ed/Lee stuff, Butch dying, and Ra’s dying AGAIN, but I still really loved the episode. Can’t wait to see what is next!

Regina’s friendship VS Killian’s love - Part 1
I hate it when people try to tell me CS is toxic and abusive yet ship Emma with a woman that has often belittled her. I get Hook was a villain. But even as a villain, he believed in her. And now as a changed man, I can’t fathom ANYONE being more supportive of Emma.
Lets start out reviewing just how *great* of a friend Regina is after she is supposedly redeemed.
Regina is emotionally abusive to Emma
Season 5 - Using the dagger on her
This has got to be one of the most sickening episodes between Emma and Regina.
During the scene at Merlin’s tree (5x02), Regina takes away Emma’s agency when King Arthur asks who the savior is. Regina stops Emma from answering then assumes her identity. It’s cloaked in a “I did it for you” dialog but her body language and actions suggest otherwise.
However, you can’t ignore fact. And fact is, Regina liked controlling Emma. She didn’t even apologize for it.
Regina: Shut up and listen! Emma: ::struggles to speak:: Regina: Oh I could get used to this.
Her response to Emma’s distress was “whatever”. Regina showed 0 sympathy that her actions, whether incidental or not, were hurting Emma. She simply didn’t care because she was enjoying it.
Thank goodness the woman didn’t become the Dark One. They’d all have been dead by now.
Then the most sickening part of all was when Emma had to thank her for her abuse. And then *truly* thank Regina for her abuse.
Regina sure let her stolen identity as the savior go to her head super quick, didn’t she? REGINA is going to figure everything out, eh? But hey, this is the woman who views Emma as a waste of an ability so what else do you expect?
Regina: I can use the dagger to make you do this, but I’m not. I’m asking you!
So if Emma refused, she would have used the dagger on Emma which could have the real possibility of sending her over the edge and into darkness? Interesting...
This is basically emotional blackmail.
Regina was ready to use force. She was actually going to use the dagger on Emma despite already knowing how much being controlled distresses her.
Killian refused to let the dagger be used on Emma.
Killian: We can’t do that. This has to be her choice.
Truth be told, he didn’t need to use the dagger. His love for her reached her. His belief in her reached through the darkness. He didn’t need force. He used love.
Season 6 - torturing Emma
Killian went to NYC to help Emma regain her memories. He attempted a true love kiss (just like Charming did, by the way) which didn’t work (neither did Charming’s). So what did he do? He opened up to her, he let Emma see who he was. Told her to use her super power. And it worked. And he didn’t need to murder her parents in cold blood.
Regina on the other hand murders Emma’s parents right in front of her.
It was cruel. Also, Regina just got to live out one of her life’s goals; she got to kill the Charmings in cold blood.
The fact that Emma THANKED Regina for that is absolutely horrifying. But that’s the one problem with Emma. For the sake of Henry, she has stopped standing up to Regina. And that is SAD.
Also she murdered Wish Snowing for no reason. I thought she was supposed to be redeemed? Mmmmhmm.
Season 4 - Bring out power
Killian has brought out her magic through love. Regina nearly killed her on a bridge.
Season 3 & 4 - Using Henry
Season 3 incident is with Pan masquerading as Henry. Regina refuses to acknowledge Emma’s worries (which turns out to be true - this is touched on more below).
But in S4, Regina actually refuses to let Emma take care of Henry when Regina knows Emma is immune to the curse. Emma would in fact be his best chance since Regina was about to return to her mass murdering ways. But hey, no one argues with Regina, right? Even while she’s undermining Emma’s capabilities!
Regina is verbally abusive
Season 1 - Can’t even accept Emma saving her life.
Regina: Set me down gently!
Season 3 - Henry/Pan
Emma: I know. He just doesn’t seem quite himself. Regina: Really? You mean because he asked for me? Emma: No, I didn’t. I didn’t mean- Regina: That’s exactly what you meant. You cant face the fact that I am his mother too. And maybe, just maybe, he wants me when he’s frightened. You forget - I have ten years of soothing his nightmares under my belt. He’s fine. Emma: It’s not about you, Regina, I just have a gut feeling. Regina: Well, maybe you can use that gut feeling to find the Shadow instead of obsessing over who’s going to comfort our son.
Regina’s first instinct is to lash out at Emma instead of listening to her. Her jealousy almost caused all of them to lose their lives to Peter Pan.
Season 4 - Marian
Regina: Ms. Swan, what an unpleasant surprise
Regina: I’ve been busy working on Marian, on the problem you created.
Regina: You’re never thinking of consequences
Regina: You’ve never had my back
Regina: Seems like the savior needs saving these days
Emma: I’m an idiot Regina: Finally something we can agree on
Regina: Does it matter if I mind? If I say no, you’ll just come anyway.
Regina: And then what? Complimenting my outfits? Giving me a makeover? Braiding my hair? Calling Robin Hood and hanging up? You’re trying to win me over so I can assuage your guilt intentionally or not, Ms. Swan, you brought Marian back. You ruined my life. And there is no coming back from that.
Emma did not know who she was bringing back from the Enchanted Forest. The only thing she was concerned about was saving a woman’s life. Regina? She could care less about a woman’s life because it inconvenienced her. Funny, this life that Emma saved was a life Regina was about to snuff out (and did in the original timeline) and happened to be married to Regina’s boyfriend. Even funnier, Regina was looking for ways to have Marian killed again but gave up because it would look too obvious.
Regina’s redemption is a joke.
Because I know you think you didn’t mean to, but you hurt someone. So do as I do and learn to live with it. Welcome to my world.
She dares compare her murderous rampages that caused the death of women and children to that of Emma “breaking her heart."
What is more important here? A woman’s life or Regina’s broken heart? Apparently Regina believes her broken heart matters more. Spoken like the true evil queen that she is.
By the way, Killian would have never agreed with Emma about being an idiot. Because our Killian has never put Emma down. Even sadder, Emma was trying to be Regina’s friend.
Season 5 - Saving Hook vs Saving Robin
Regina: And you didn’t think of the consequences for everyone else?
Funny how Regina never stopped to think about the consequences for Emma when she begged her to save Robin’s life. But Regina is above consequences. Isn’t she? However, she is all about tearing Emma down for decisions she’s made.
She BEGGED Emma to save Robin. But when it came time to save Killian? Would Regina show any support for Emma? No. Not a bit!
Season 5 - Hypocrite
Regina: You’re just saying that because you feel bad about ripping her heart (Violet’s) out in Camelot.
First she has to throw something Dark One Swan did that would release Merlin from the tree, something that also hurt Emma. Why isn’t all of the things Regina did to Henry (which were ten times worse) ever thrown back in her face? What right does she have really?
But lets look at what prompts her to verbally attack Emma.
Emma knows about Henry and Violet’s song. Regina doesn’t. Henry has flourished under Emma’s parenting. He was able to make friends in NY whereas in Storybrooke with Regina he had zero and now he’s able to talk about his teenage crushes with Emma. Not Regina.
Why is that, you think?
Because Emma is always supporting Henry & was encouraging his relationships with others whereas Regina has selfishly wanted Henry to “be mine” as she would always say.
Just look how pissed Regina is at witnessing her teenage son kissing his girlfriend.
Whose the better mom again? But I digress. EvilRegal is just as abusive as SwanQueen.
Season 5 episode 22
Emma: He tried to wipe the search history clean. Luckily I can get it back. Regina: I won’t hold my breath
Once again, you’d never hear Killian Jones doubting Emma Swan’s capabilities.
People claim this is just Regina’s “sass”. Except her sass isn’t said out of jest. She truly means it. She’s rude and obnoxious. It was funny back when she was a villain but she isn’t supposed to be that person anymore.
Regina belittles Emma’s relationships
A good is supportive. Regina? Not so much.
Regina: And you think it’s the best plan because your boyfriend came up with it?
Every time Regain has referred to Killian as Captain Guyliner.
Or made fun of his disability
The time she wanted to rip his throat out.
Regina is physically abusive
Regina tried to murder Emma as a baby.
Influenced Sydney to try to murder Emma.
Regina tried to kill her with an apple.
Regina tried to kill Emma, the Charmings and the rest of the town in season 2.
Oh wait, I can’t use references from S1 & S2 when Regina wasn’t redeemed but you can of villain Hook & DO Hook? Leave your hypocrisy at the door. Thanks.
Season 4 - Shattered Sight
She was technically cursed but her true feelings for Emma were once again revealed.
Weren’t those bracelets bound by true love? Hmmm.
Regina would destroy her own friend’s life
Regina: Yeah, there's one problem with that. I did cast a curse that devastated an entire population. I have tortured and murdered. I've done some terrible things. I should be overflowing with regret, but... I'm *not*. Because it got me my son.
So basically, despite being Emma’s bestie, Regina would orphan Emma all over again and destroy her life all for her own personal gain.
What an awesome friend! Where can I find one?
To be continued in part 2
