Smart Watches for my kids
I recently bought my kids some smart watches from T-mobile made for kids. T-mobile was having a promotion and the watches were a steal. $24 for two watches instead of $400 for two (which was the original price). It's only $20 a month for the kids to have service.
My children are getting older and children love to have more freedom as they grow older. Being away from parents and with friends or other family members can offer unique experiences and a sense of freedom. However, one of our top priorities as parents is to ensure our children always stay safe.
This is where the watches I got come in handy. You can choose any smart watches that you, as a parent, think works best for your family. So many watches on the market today offer the cool features kids love, such as games and apps, but also have the safety feature that gives us as parents peace of mind.
My kids are nine and ten now. They aren't responsible enough for a cellphone. I'm surprised when I see children their age or younger with smart phones. They can easily be broken and they are expensive. I personally don't want to spend the money on one and it end up broken or lost within hours. A watch stays on their wrists all day and there shouldn't be a possibility of it being lost.
The watch I got has multiple features that I do find handy.
Live tracking: This allows us to monitor the watch in real-time and get a location update every 10 seconds for 15 minutes. My husband was at work and saw that we were at grandma's house. Being my husband, he texted my kids and asked, "Who said you are allowed at grandma's house". Of course he was just being his silly self.
Virtual Boundaries: This allows us to set a virtual fence around a geographical location on the map to track the watch's whereabouts. The app will get notifications every time the watch enters or exits the boundary. We set up our boundary to only go as far as the ice cream shop but they still have to be together or have a friend before going somewhere. The buddy system for safety.
Communication: Calling and texting on the kids watch is only allowed between approved contacts. Contact types can only be managed by the Admin (which is us) from the app. The watch does not support group calling or messaging.
Safety: Allows the watch to call local law enforcement. Calling 9-1-1 will send an SMS with the watch's location to us, their grandparents, or uncles and aunts, which are assigned as emergency contacts, and a notification will appear in the app.
School Mode: This allows us to promote focus time, limit alerts and manage activities. When enabled, School Mode will limit watch functionalities such as texting, camera, and games. Calling will still be available to and from contacts that are provisioned as emergency contacts.
Camera: 5 MP camera can be used for pictures and videos, which can be customized with stickers and banners from the Media Library.
Notifications, Tasks and Alarms: We are able to set up notifications for when our children meet their the step goals, or set alarms and reminders to complete tasks. I have added their schedule for educational activities, homework, and chore time on their tasks. We can also get notifications when a task is completed, when a child enters/leaves a virtual boundary, when the battery is getting low, or when help is requested.
Games: Incluldes games such as DINO Run, Tic-Tac-Toe, and a voice changer.
Here are some pros and cons for you if you want to try a smart watch for your child.
Pros:
Connection: Many of these watches can text or call, allowing your child to contact you when needed.
GPS Tracking: These watches give parents access to a GPS tracker that allows tracking their child's exact location at all times. You no longer have to wonder where they are.
Freedom: These watches can give your child a sense of freedom if they are older, and they are fun for younger kids as well.
Easier life: You no longer have to set up playdate if you or your friends are busy. Many (not all) of my kids' friends have their own watches and can set up their own times to play. My kids' friends will just come over now and I simply tell them where my children are. Of course they get permission from parents first.
Safety features: A few smartwatches on the market have SOS buttons or geofencing capabilities, which can alert you if your child leaves a certain area.
Health and fitness tracking: Smartwatches can also help kids stay active by tracking their daily steps, heart rate and other metrics.
Educational tools: Some smartwatches for children offer math games, spelling quizzes or language apps that can help kids learn something new.
Entertainment: Smartwatches can also be used for pure entertainmentâwith features like music, games and camera functions.
Tasks: Smartwatches allow you to add tasks to the watch such as chores and homework.
Battery life: It lasts at least a day if not more.
Cons:
Distractions: Smartwatches can be distracting for kids, especially if they are using them during class or while doing homework. If youâre planning on giving your child one of these devices, itâs a good idea to look into what kind of pings and notifications they serve. Turning off all but the most essential will help ensure the smartwatch doesnât become a distraction for your kidâand others in the classroom.
Ultimately itâs more than just a watch or another piece of technology. A kidsâ smart watch is about helping us have peace of mind and giving kids the freedom to be kids. Smart watches provide a way to stay in touch with our kids via phone calls or text messages. They do this without offering the unlimited internet access to social media apps and inappropriate content. This makes smart watches a clear choice for younger kids or even older kids that are very active and donât want to carry a phone on them.
It's up to each parent what they want to do but my husband and I enjoy having the peace of mind while our children have more freedom.

ADHD reward system? Please tell me your secret!
My therapist has been helping me find a reward system that works for me, and as it turns out, gold star stickers are really helpful for making me feel like a tangible goal was met, and helps give me that sweet, sweet dopamine release that comes with completing a task, something which us ADHDâers really struggle to achieve and are already coming at from a disadvantage with our brains regularly not producing enough âhappyâ hormones as it is.
It was supposed to be âa sticker for every time you finish a chapterâ, but after some revision, my therapist said that was too tall of a goal, and that I should pick something smaller. So instead I now get a star every time I finish a 500-word milestone, placing the sticker in my writing calendar/journal thing that I use to keep track of my writing, and ironically, I have started to produce more work than when I was stiving for one chapter a day.
To give you an idea of how staggeringly effective this has been for me, Iâve written over 30k of original fiction in the last week. (75k total if you include my social media and blog stuff, which I currently do not but likely should.)
So this is what it looked like when I was attempting to do a chapter of edits and revisions a day during the month of December 2019 (note: I was supposed to start this in Nov, so you can see how well that worked out for me lol):
ID: A calendar showing days of the month with a shiny star sticker showing a completed task.
And this is what my writing journal looks like now that Iâm doing a star for every 500 words:
ID: an image of a handwritten journal with the dates mapped out, followed by a shiny star sticker for every completed 500-word milestone. There are 65 stars in total for the month of January 2020. Itâs also tinged by a green light cause Iâm doing a chronic pain experiment, so far with positive results!
So as of today, January 8th, with ever star = 500 words, then 65*500 = 32500 words totalled in 7 days. This does not include, like I said, my social media output where I am far more productive, this is just my fiction and some editing work for friends.
(Which side note: this is not to flex, or to say that others should be able to achieve this level of output. I am a professional writer, this is my main job and only source of income. And also, I was forged in the fires of understaffed editing hell where we would be expected to churn out 100k+ a week in edits and revisions to keep on track. I have the time and a learned skillset I have spent years amassing to be able to do this and am working towards a rigid deadline. I simply have not been healthy enough in a long time to manage it, and am finally working my way back up to speed after years of illness. Donât look at this and think, âIâm not achieving enoughâ, every victory no matter how small is worth celebrating. And I say that with the utmost sincerity, as someone who spent most of the last 2-3 years unable to get out of bed.)
Iâve also started using it to help keep track of bills and chores around the home. So every time something gets done/done on time, whoever completed the task gets a star on the calendar. This includes Oppy the Not-A-Roomba, who does a very good job of taking care of the house on a daily basis:
ID: an image of a chore calendar denoting various tasks that have been marked off with a holographic silver star sticker, including our robot vacuum who does an excellent job and deserves all the stars. (Our names got blurred out cause ETD doesnât want his real name out there in the world, so thatâs what is blurry.)
This system is useful for several reasons, the primary one being a sense of achievement and continued motivation, and the second, to allow you to review each month to see where you are doing well, and where you might otherwise be struggling.
For example, if I have a bad day for writing or decide to take a day off, I write that down in the calendar rather than leaving it blank, so that I have a record of what went wrong (or right, if I am electing to self care that day and take a day off) and how my overall progress is doing.
In terms of house stuff, this has been especially useful for ETD and myself, as it shows us where we are managing to do a good job with the house, and where our executive dysnfunction issues really trip us up and where we need to make improvements. And I donât just mean in an âI should try harder wayâ, I mean you have to actively sit down and be like âhey! What is preventing me from completing this thingâ and trying to figure out effective ways to either get around it or resolve a larger issue at hand.
So for us, the biggest thing we tend to miss is doing dishes after dinner, meaning we get left with a pile-up of dishes to deal with first thing in the morning, and my ADHD canât handle that. It wonât let me eat until Iâve cleared all the mess, but I usually donât have the energy to clean up if I havenât eaten, so itâs this awful cycle of ineptitude. Weâre doing better with the star reward system, cause itâs showing us our progress loud and clear on the fridge door, but we are both usually so fatigued and exhausted by the end of dinner that doing dishes is just one thing too many for our mutual disorders. So, the solution for this would, of course, be a dishwasher, cause if we had one of those, we could load stuff in, turn it on, and let those dishes get done while we go to bed then put them away in the morning. We canât afford to do that right now, and we have other appliances we need to buy/replace before we can do that (still donât have a tumble dryer, or a washer I can access, rip) but it does give us a tangible goal to work toward, and also, the motivation to keep on top of things because it goes from âan endless task with no end in sightâ to âthereâs a solution for this, we can manage a while longer.â
Now you could be saying, but Joy, Iâm an adult! Surely I shouldnât expect rewards for completing every day tasks that I should be able to do?!
To which I say, neurotypical people get rewards all the time and get an unconscious dose of dopamine/serotonin from their brains every time they complete a task. Theyâre playing the game of life on easy mode, the gold star is your achievement for completing it daily on Nintendo 99 hard mode. IF THE STICKER WORKS, TAKE THE STICKER
YOUâVE EARNED IT.

Meet Aleki, my 'canon' protag for Sins of the Sires!
14th generation Thinblood, originally (and unbeknownst to him) of Tzimisce background. Using a bit of gameplay-story segregation here, his only disciplines are a bit of Animalism and Auspex, and developing Insight. High-humanity, Certified Soft Boy(tm) (no seriously ended the game on 87% Soft). Used to be a history and literature student (he was only twenty-one at Embrace, not quite a PhD student yet) with a fondness for going out dancing. Hasn't done that in a while, he's become a bit worn down after ten years of working for/serving Markos, but meeting Gor is deeply inspiring.
Femme (cis but very gnc), forestcore aesthetic. Enjoys soft, generally dark autumnal colours, corduroy, frogs, mushrooms, and sunflowers, lip gloss, crop tops, and trying to make the Prince decide if he should be kicked out of Elysium or not. Bagger, has one of those insulated coffee cups covered in cute stickers that he keeps his blood in.
One of his strongest latent Tzimisce traits is that he just enjoys putting his bare feet in the soft soil and being at peace. Probably one of the few Thinbloods to genuinely be delighted with his status because it means he can see the sun again. Has emotional support bat famalus named Nyx and will make "I am the night" jokes at every opportunity.
Disciplines: Animalism 2 (Bond Famalus, Feral Whispers), Auspex 2 (Sense the Unseen, Premonition)
Merits & Flaws: Anarch Comrades, Discipline Affinity / Branded by the Camarilla, Bestial Temper
Predator Type: Bagger
Basically doing a hybrid version of like... four different endings/outcomes for his 'canon' backstory. Cut for spoilers!
So I'm using a smidge of version 1.0 here (with my not!Pyre version), mostly based on my... assorted attempts with Aleki himself. Version 7.0 is here, 7.1 is here, and 7.3 is here (we don't talk about 7.2).
Pretty much follows 7.0 up until Belgrade. Bonded with Gor, started a romance with him. Got Nyx the bat friend, spared Savvas because he could see himself in his place. After meeting Sophia, he was sent after Gor, went, "Um, no" and escaped with him to Belgrade. From there:
v1.0: Sees Kapriel in Belgrade, but he and Gor are able to evade him and escape.
v7.1: Aleki agrees to return to Athens with Kapriel to protect Gor and the others and to prevent a fight breaking out.
No actual version: Gor manages to evade Kapriel!
v7.0: Aleki is blood bound to Kapriel and taken to Sophia. The coup fails. The Prince brands Aleki with the Thinblood symbol.
v7.1: Aleki fails to convince Selene to stop. She (and Aleki's ex Nikos) still die in the explosion, but Vole is able to get to Aleki and hide him away.
v7.0: The SI descends upon Athens and takes out most of the Camarilla, except this time...
No actual version: ...Kapriel is captured and imprisoned.
v7.0: Aleki stays with Vole for the year to be weaned off the blood bond...
v7.3: ...then returns to Thessaloniki and finds Gor there.
Still kind of tense. Aleki is pretty traumatised after being captured, forcibly blood bound, branded, and failing to save his ex and a whole lot of others from death, and things between him and Gor are pretty slow to progress, both having trust issues (Gor's well-established, Aleki's brand new) and both paranoid that Kapriel will one day escape the SI. Still in contact with Vole, who Aleki is now very close to after spending a year recovering with him. Markos died in the SI raid, Persa supposedly survived but has since vanished. He thinks he saw her once, watching from across the street.
Helps Gor out in the refugee camps and squats. Tries not to think about the last eleven years in Athens. Sometimes still goes out dancing, and, if he can, will watch the sunrise before settling into day sleep with Gor. They're... getting there, one night at a time.

MCYT subway au Part 3 because Iâm a sucker for attention and the 2 ppl who made part 1 and 2 noticed me
Holiday Shift
- Everybody who works on the holiday gets double. Those that canât work have to put their name on a list. Lowest entries and those that donât enter need to work the shift. Itâs Philâs idea donât ask
- George is the first to put his name there but Sapnap skribbles it out and makes sure everybody else gets their name in first. Itâs his punishment for leaving Dream and him alone for rush hour when Karl was sick. Dream wasnât all that mad but Sapnap Will Not let that shit slide
- Tommy gladly takes the oppertunity to not have to spend the entire day awkwardly hugging relatives and being told to keep their elbows off the table. Convinces Tubbo to join them, supposedly for the Money
- Dream: âSo Karl did you put your name on the list yet?â Karl: âWhat list??â
- Shift staffing: George, Tubbo, Tommy and Karl
- George becomes the reluctant babysitter of what feels like three kids
- âKarl stop WASTING the bread we NEED THAT.â
- Tommy is told to go pull what they need for monday out of the freezer. Tubbo offers to come with him and holds his hand the entire time. Theyâre best friends your honor. Tommy promises Tubbo to make it up to him
- George does about 60% of the work on a four person shift. Swears to murder Sapnap on sight. Probably slaps a pastry in his face later
Promotion pt. 4: Taking Over
- Tommy begs Techno to join in support of Wilbur. Techno reluctantly agrees because he canât really say no to Tommy and because he doesnât really want to become manager anyway (too much paperwork and heâs fixating on the origins of vedgetables)Â
- Tommy now adds #WilburForManager to his pogway stickers. Wilbur is also reluctantly Growing Soft in face of Tommyâs undying support
- Nobody knows why, but Quackity has the unspoken ability to make Schlatt give him sick leave or remove him from shift?? All Quackity has to do is point to his phone and give Schlatt a smug Look.
- Ppl are suspicious but really Quackity just has a video of Schlatt kissing a baby kitten in the face and talking to it in a high pitched soft voice
- Wilbur needs to visit extended family and leaves for 2 weeks. The day before he leaves is surprisingly light-hearted and Wilbur admits that Schlatt isnât the worst manager imaginable. He lets them waste things sometimes and has yet to give anybody a cut for not showing up to a shift
- Dream canât openly go against Schlatt, silently wishing heâd just put the milk in The Right Spot before his shift. But no. It never is. Itâs always somewhere else. Always.
- Schlatt continues to place things in slightly different places than they belong and following his whim more than the rules. One time he didnât order the dark chocolate cakes they sell because âWho likes those anywayâ
- Phil is there more often to make sure Wilburâs work is covered. The war continues to rage in stolen glares and misplaced ingredients.
- Bad and Skeppy are slowly genuinely growing concerned, watching the whole thing go down like a movie.
Promotion pt. 5: Adopted On Sight
- Schlatt tells Tubbo heâs doing great One Time because he literally saved Schlattâs ass from being fired for the whole cakes thing by biking it to the nearest store that sells them and getting some
- Tubbo will now follow Schlatt around to ask him how heâs doing, if he did everything right, if he needs any help, how his morning went so far
- Schlatt does Not Know how to handle Tubbo and suddenly wishes for Wilbur to just Come Back and Take His Kid. Tubbo wishes him a good morning and good night every single day. How is he supposed to keep up his tough old man appearance like this
- Tommy is still on Wilburâs side and purposefully makes Schlattâs life just a little more difficult. Small pranks. Stickers on the cakes, wasting them. Writing #TommySupremacy on the sandwhich wraps with markers while nobody is looking. Taking 4 chairs to the back to stack them on top of eachother and stand on them to reach the ceiling. Being the teenager he is.
- Tubbo think itâs funny and thatâs the main thing keeping him going really
- Schlatt confronts Tommy but with no results. He turns to Phil to ask him what to do and Phil is like, you donât do anything. Thatâs just Tommy for you. Usually Wilbur keeps him occupied with the Dreamon hunting and now he has too much free time
- Quackity is using the blackmail more and more. Does he even work here anymore? When was the last time anybody saw him apart from looting the expired sodas? Heâs the only one who can order avocados on a spanish site online that donât cost their weight in gold
- But as it tends to be with good friends, Schlatt knows the amount of blackmail he has is enough to fill everybodyâs need for drama here for the rest of the year. Also he canât say no to Quackity
- Fundy recieves yet another apology card from Wilbur from Ireland, a whole postcard with a picture attached and a little doodle of a fox. He finally caves and forgives him, now refusing to do Schlattâs work anymore.
- Dream is Popping Off. Nobody can stop him from working once he starts. Heâs 2 months ahead on Literally Everything. Somebody help him
Promotion pt. 6: The Finale I promise
- Wilbur returns! Schlatt is THIS close to throwing in the towel
- Tubbo says he wants another sleepover, wanting to de-escalate the whole manager war. Tommy has to stay true to his promise in the freezer and they convince Wilbur together. Techno was on board before they even asked
- Unbeknowedst to them, the Dream Team + Karl wanted to stay in that night as well to sabotage Schlatt
- Both groups stare at eachother in confusion at first
-They combine their resources to figure out a way to sabotage Schlatt. Dream is growing increasingly quiet and unsure while Tommy stares at The Adults with dissapointment. Tubbo tries to get a word in about how Schlatt isnât That Bad but they all yell over him. âThe milk, Tubbo! Why canât he put the milk back like a normal person!â
- Eventually Tommy pulls out his bravery and tells everyone to Shut Up
- Everyone stares at eachother
-Tommy: âHow come you guys yelling over bullying somebody out of their work sounds less mature than when my literal nephews are screaming at eachother over 10 year old pokemon cards??â
- The adults stare at eachother even harder
- Dream shyly clears his throat. âFrom an outsider perspective, you know, uh, I should probably be fired for plotting against a fellow manager-â
- Wilbur finally finds his tongue. âMaybe this wasnât the most... mature idea.â
- Everybody carefully agrees to apologize to schlatt and never speak of this again. Tommy has unknowingly gotten a lot more pranking rights
- They spend the rest of the night organizing the storage, hunting Dreamon, Dream telling them about that one time he ate a living frog, and taking turns playing some free racing game on Karlâs switch
- Lots of laughter, return to their shifts the next day
- They wait for Schlatt to come in to work and pull him to the back. Only Bad and Skeppy are already allowed inside while they keep the doors locked for anybody else
- Dream issues a formal apology to him and tells him everything, and Wilbur jockingly mentions they were really close to pouring food coloring into his rubber gloves as they try to laugh it off
- Schlatt stares at them
- âYou know what? I quit. I donât want to be the manager anymore. I feel like the dad of lord knows how many kids. Phil is some kind of angel. Wilbur please adopt Tubbo and Tommy again, as long as our store isnât on fire Iâm never going to complain about them ever again. Dream you might wanna phone Quackity.â
Insiders
- After a good, short era of peace within the establishment, the Drama Bois are getting bored and latching onto new things
- The bets on whether Skeppy and Bad are a couple or not are getting ever higher, especially as theyâve started letting them behind the counter. They figured out pretty quickly that theyâre officially not together, but that just makes the betting all the more exciting. Do they like eachother? Are they hiding it? Are they just really good friends? Are they THAT oblivious or just really good at covering it up??
- Bad especially becomes good friends with Dream, George and Sapnap, and yet theyâre all just as split as everyone else on whether he likes Skeppy or not
- Bad pretends to be but is in fact not oblivious to this at all
- Dream especially will often tell them theyâre being VERY close to eachother or how cute they are next to eachother, revelling in teasing his friend, especially as Bad will sometimes start to get flustered while Skeppy manages to somehow stay 100% cool
- One day when a middle aged white woman is extremely unhappy with her order she starts talking down on George about being uneducated, and too clumsy for being useful at all, and how they should fire him. George asks her if he should just get the manager and she gladly agrees, only for Dream to swoop out of a back room, a good head taller than her, and sternly tell her if she canât treat employees like human beings then he will ban her from the establishment immedietly. The woman stutters, takes her order and leaves, cursing something as she goes.
- Bad and Skeppy were sitting at a table nearby quietly the entire time, and Bad has this a-little-too-wide smile on his face.
- Dream murmurs something about having to go, but the seeds are planted. The idea has bloomed. Bad is ready to get his teasing revenge.
- Just as theyâre closing, George puts away the milk that Dream left on the counter, telling Dream that heâs putting it away. Bad: âWow George, thatâs so thoughtful of you!â George: â???â
- Dream, softly telling George he can go home earlier and heâll take the rest of the shift so George can catch up on sleep: âItâs okay, just go. Iâve got this.â
- Bad, just as George left, slurping his milkshake innocently while Wilbur and Sapnap are in earshot: âAwww, Dream! That was SO nice of you!â
- Dream, knowing exactly what this is for: âIâm just... nice to my friends!â
- Bad: âReally?! How many times do you let Sapnap go home earlier?â Sapnap: âYou let George go earlier AGAIN?â Wilbur, having waited his entire life for someone to finally notice this: âGeorge is getting so much favored treatment, Dream. But youâre really just good friends, right?â
- If looks could kill theyâd all be dead at that point. Especially Bad, who continues slurping his milkshake as the chaos unfolds and Dream knows thereâs no escape

I belive in Tupper supremacy. (7 brothers + Barbartos. ) GN!MC
During my whole life, my mother would always forgive anything that I lost, it might be a shoe, a toy, $10 pesos, etc. The only thing she couldn´t forgive nor forget was her tuppers. Did I lost one, yes, yes I did. Does the memory of a lost tupper creeps her dremas... yes, yes it does. NOW imagine Mc, behaving like my mother when I lost her tupper. (You know, like tupperware.)
Lucifer.
He was having a mental breakdown in the student council room when suddenly he received a call, Mammon and Levi started a fight, and he needed to stop his younger siblings.
After the punishment, he came home with two tied up demons, and of course Mc received them with the brightest smile of them all.
The two younger brothers gave them the tupper, Mc gave them the sweetest smile and asked them to clean them.
Lucifer forgot the tupper in the student council room. The smile of Mc started to fade, a dark aura covered them, and with a deep voice they said. âSo⌠you left it in the council room⌠Do you understand the severity of your actions? If you don´t bring back my goddamn tupper, you shall not enter the house.â They shut the door in front of him.
He didnât find it, apparently some demon took it. Lucifer wasn´t dumb so he decided to buy a brand new tupper. Even if he did that, Mc didn´t let him in. âI know my tuppers you egocentric bastard! Find it or I´ll call Diavolo!â
Mammon
Mammon bet his tupper, he was at the casino, and he didn´t had enough money, so a crazy demon told him. âHey, thatâs a nice tupper. How about you put it on the bet and I´ll put real money.â
Of course, he accepted, and he lost the tupper, after that he came back home, were Mc was having a nice talk with Belphie. He tried to act cool since he knew that his human would get crazy.
âDid you lose my tupper?â They knew him too well âAnd you think you could easily enter this house?â Mammon tried to explain them that he didnât had that enough money to pay the bet so he decided to⌠â¿¥ Tengo cara de que me importa tu pedejada?! No, I don´t Now, go and bring back my tupper or something bad will happen.â
He ran to de casino as fast as he could and beg to the demon that won the tupper, without luck he tried to ask Levi if he could buy a similar model of the tupper. They fail miserably.
He needed to accept the consequences, Mc didn´t talked to him for about a month and a half, it was truly hell.
Leviathan
Levi lost the tupper in a convention, he was so excited about the new Ruri-chan action figure that he totally forgot to close properly his backpack, one thing developed the other so fast that he couldn´t felt that a demon actually stole the tupper.
Coming back home, he told Mc, that the lunch was delicious, that thanks to them he could survived the convention without wasting more money in some food. He was so thankful that he actually gave them an original sticker of Ruri-chan.
When Mc, asked him to show them the tupper, so nothings was missing, Levi took the wideopen backpack, and started to panic.
âI think they stole the tupper.â Mc in a magic way brought the chancla into the conversation. âWait MC! I´LL BUY YOU ANOTHER ONE! PLEASE DO NOT HIT ME!â
Mc kept prisoner the new figure for almost a month until Levi could give them back their tupper. He tracked down every single demon that attend the convention and he nearly murder the thief.
Satan
Satan, was in the human realm, when a stray cat enter his vision and he nicely gave him some of the tuna sandwich that Mc made him, he must thank them later.
Satan isn´t the type of demon that forgets the tuppers, his actually the type of demon that helps to find out the new catalogues, or even helps Mc to wash the tuppers after they use them. It just never crossed his mind that one day he would lose it.
He actually left the tupper in the park by accident, he really didn´t meant to leave it there, when he came back to the Devildom, Mc was reading in the living room, he made the usual greetings and when he was about to show Mc Mc the tupper, he started to panic.
âMc, do not get mad please.â Mc just nodded. âI think I lost your tupper.â Mc just smiled. âI see Satan, don´t you worry, I just remember that I âaccidentallyâ trusted you.â
Satan came back to the human realm to buy a 50 new tuppers for the human.
Asmo
Asmo left the tupper in a super fancy restaurant. Beel asked him if he could bring some leftovers or buy something for him, Mc told him to take some tuppers so the restaurant couldn´t give some disposable packings (Let´s be ecofriendly my darlings!)
Asmo got just a little bit tipsy, and he forgot the tuppers, when he came back to the house, he saw Beel eating some potato chips, in front of the door, and he was talking with Mc, about how great was the lobster on that restaurant.
But when the sixth born enter the house, and tried to kiss Mc, Beel stopped him, and asked nicely were was his food. âAh⌠I think I left the food at the restaurant.â
Before Beel could cry out, Mc step in. âYou did what?â Asmo started to sweat cold, even the alcohol started to fade. âYou know that in that restaurant they reuse the tuppers left? That means, that some stranger is now eating from my tupper.â
âMc darling, I am so sorry!!! Please don´t get mad!â but it was already late, after that night Mc didn´t let Asmo touch them, and he needed to go back to the restaurant so he could have the tuppers of his human.
Beel
Beel ate the tupper, Mc put a banana inside a banana tupper so he could eat something after his practice, also they gave him a bunch of different snacks in different tuppers. But he, somehow manage to bring back all the tuppers.
âBeel⌠Where is the banana tupper, you know I don´t like to have a squishy banana?â Beelzebub just stayed quiet, he didn´t move not even a centimeter. He used the tactic âIf I don´t move they can´t see me, I´m basically invisible!â
Spoiler alert, Mc stare at him, so he said the truth âI am sorry Mc, I ate the tupper.â
âYou ate my limited edition of a banana tupper?! I thought we were good friends. I can´t trust you anymore.â
Beel asked Levi to find at least 50 of those banana tuppers so he could gain Mc´s trust again.
Belphie.
Belphie left the tupper in a tree, he was having a nice time, he ate, and then he went to sleep in a branch of a tree, he was the happiest demon alive, until⌠someone wake him up and he got all grumpy.
He came back to the house, when he heard a lot of noise, it was Mc searching something. He didn´t want to be mean to them, so he tried to run away.
âHey Belphie, did you know where is my red tupper? The one I use for the mini pretzels.â Belphie just looked at them, he really wanted to smile and run, but oh surprise that wasn´t a good idea. He tried to do the same thing as Beel, don´t move so they can´t see me. And he failed.
Belphie told them that he took it, and he left it in the branch of a tree. âThen go find my tupper, or elseâŚâ
He came back to the same branch, of the same tree, but oh surprise a nice family of birds was already inside the tupper. He tried to talk again with Mc, but they just ignore him.
Barbatos
Do you really think Barbatos would leave a tupper? He wouldn´t, he would be worse than Mc, he knows his tuppers, he breaths his tuppers, he is one with his tuppers. But in the case that something happens, he would use his powers and take back his precious tuppers.
Lets learn some Spanish:

Love letters - Rakuzan x reader
A small light blue whistle dangled from your neck as you shouted out to the jogging members of the basketball club: âCome on, guys, just one more round!â
Since your first year in Rakuzan, you had joined the basketball club and had become their manager. In the beginning, you werenât really noticed by the team, but that was not surprising because the captain was being trusted and listened to more than the actual coach.
Akashiâs judgment was truly impressing, and you couldnât help but respect him as well...but there was no way in hell youâd just sit back as the rest and leave every responsibility resting on this young manâs shoulders.
Much to everybodyâs surprise, youâd just butt into their conversations and share your view on the topic. That action alone left a lot of your classmates and upperclassmen flabbergasted, and just some days later, the school had labeled you fearless for daring to directly speak with these overly respected men.
Back then, you didnât know about their reputation and titles at all, so you acted purely instinctual. If someone had told you beforehand who they were, though, you probably wouldâve kept your mouth shut. But that lucky âmistakeâ was the exact reason for your wholesome relationship with them now...
You see, all these boys ever wanted - outside of the basketball club - was to be accepted by someone the way they were. They were also ânormalâ students like you and your classmates...the only exception was their immense talent and sincerity for the sport they loved, so why did they get treated like some kind of abnormalities?
Their peersâ rumors and reserved attitudes seemingly didnât bother them that much, but you knew better and managed to see past their façades. You genuinely cared for them and everything that involved their person.
At first, it seemed really unnatural to them. The fact that someone as adorable as you was out there, willing to invest the majority of their time for them and their talent truly made them happy.
Slowly but surely, they began opening up to you. After just a few months, you became their most trusted person, whom they could always go to in order to discuss any- and everything, so the moment something or someone stood between you guys, they wouldnât even bat a lash to show their true colors.
ââ
âGood morning, manager!!â a chirpy and a deep voice simultaneously called out to you.
âKotaro and Nebuya! Good morning you two.â
You were about to open your shoe locker and continue your daily conversation with the club members. Still, when you unlocked that small door, something pushed it open and ended up startling anybody who was remotely close to you.
âAre these...â
âLove letters?â
With a small and slightly uncomfortable smile, you kneeled down and picked the few envelopes up from the floor, turning to the two young men behind you whose wide eyes were about to pop out from their sockets.
âYeah...someone has been putting these in my locker every morning for the past few weeks,â you explained and giggled silently at the cute little stickers your mysterious admirer had chosen this time. Upon seeing that angelic smile of yours, the two basketball players began panicking internally and started bombarding you with one question after the other.
When did you receive the very first letter? Is there some kind of signature for the sender? Have they been following you around? Are they bothering you?
Just as you were about to answer them, the school bell interrupted you, and as much as you wanted to continue your talk with them, your classes were more important at the moment. So the three of you rescheduled that talk for later, during club activities, and went off to your respective classrooms.
ââ
âHuuh?! A secret admirer?â
âYes!! Can you believe it?â
As soon as the last bell for today rang, Nebuya and Kotaro had sprinted to the gym to inform the others about todayâs discovery.
Finding out that someone as valuable as you were being admired by someone else was no surprise, of course, but it still hurt them, and it even awoke a feeling they had never experienced before...jealousy.
Mayuzumi watched them discuss this topic with such seriousness that he couldnât help but laugh at them internally, and as their upperclassman, he felt the urge to tear them off a strip.
âI hope you guys are aware that (Y/N) has a life of her own and is allowed to do whatever she wants with whoever she wants; itâs none of our business now, is it?â
The others had turned towards him and were wide-eyed by the fact that he had even openly spoken up on a topic that concerned you. Heâd usually either choose to remain silent or pretend like he wasnât listening.
Akashi nodded with a small smile and took it upon himself to answer the grey-haired young man. âI am pretty sure theyâre aware of that, but you have to be honest with yourself and admit that itâll be a huge loss for all of us if she were to find a boyfriend right when our teamâs at its prime time.â
The third-year squinted his eyes at his captain. âYou do know that youâre overreacting, right? I mean...all you have are her words and some envelopes that fell from her locker.â
âBut they were sealed with cute heart stickers, right Ko-chan?!â
Reo chirped in as his light-colored eyes darted over to the blond in question, whose answer consisted of some energetic nods. Mayuzumi was slowly losing his patience with them, and just as he was about to counter that statement, your cheerful voice echoed in the entire gym, greeting your fellow club members.
It shouldâve surprised you to see them stand this close to each other, but you figured that they were probably discussing something basketball-related, so you kept your questions to yourself and began preparing for todayâs training.
They used that short moment to arrange a short meeting after practice to plan their next steps.
ââ
âOk, whatâs our way of procedure, guys?â asked Kotaro in an unusual humorless tone. Nebuya, who was standing behind him, couldnât help but laugh out loud at how serious his goofy friend was. The bigger man wrapped his muscular arm around the boyâs shoulder and told him to relax. Reo watched the two of them fool around with a bothered expression. At the same time, Akashi smiled to himself, bringing the cup of tea to his lips. Mayuzumi, on the other hand, watched that somewhat controversial scene unfold in front of him. It was beyond him how you believed the obvious lie they told you at the end of todayâs training.
The five of you had made it a tradition to always go to either the station or the nearest bakery after practice, and even though the third year himself never really wanted to accompany you all, you always made sure to drag him along...even if it was against his will. So when you had asked them if they wanted to go to get something sweet today, they all refused for the most ridiculous reasons, and he was sure that youâll see through these obvious lies. But when you just innocently smiled at them, he figured that you either turned a blind eye to it or you truly believed that Nebuya was on a âno-meat-dietâ and that Kotaro was going to study and do his homework.
âI do not entirely agree with this since it seems to be a rather...drastic approach,â answered Akashi after the muscular man next to him asked what he thought of the plan. He just suggested, âwhat about you, Mayuzumi? Whatâs your take on this?â
Said boy sighed and replied tiredly that whatever conclusion theyâd reach would be too overdramatic and drastic.
âYou do know that if she decides to get to know her secret admirer better, she wonât be having that much time to read novels and recommend them to you, right?â asked Reo with a mischievous grin.
Silence...
The grey-haired young man leaned forward and looked at his teammates.
âOk, whatâs the plan?â
ââ
1st step: obtain a letter from her locker...
âGood morning (Y/N).â
âAkashi, good morning!â
You were just about to open the small door of your locker, change your shoes and see if you had received another love letter, but thatâs when the captain of the basketball club had stopped you. Wondering if something was wrong, you asked him if you could help him in some way.
âOh, nothing is wrong; I merely wanted to inform you that one of your teachers asked the basketball club to visit some of the classes and advertise the club since a lot of the first- and second-years appear to not have joined any after-school-activity. So I wanted to ask if you perhaps know someone that might be interested in joining a club.â
While the two of you continued that talk, you failed to see how Kotaro sneaked up behind you, looked in your locker, gave the red-haired young man an unobtrusive signal that there was no letter to be found, and vanished as quickly and quietly as heâd come.
...if the first step fails, we just need to keep a good eye on her surroundings and look for people interested in her...
â(Y/N), someoneâs here to see you!â said one of your classmates as they pointed to your classroomâs door, where Reo was standing and nonchalantly leaning against its frame. You thanked them and hurried over to where one of your best friends was standing.
âHey, sweetie, sorry for bothering you, but I wanted to ask you if you wanted to join me during the break.â
It has been quite a while since the two of you had spent a break together, so you had no reason to refuse and happily accepted his invitation.
With Reo, you could always talk about every kind of topic, whether it was about the last wrestling match you watched on TV or the cute keychain you saw hanging from your neighborâs bag. The two of you would always get so invested in your dialogue that you completely missed how some of the students were glancing at you and how some even turned their heads when you passed them. On the other hand, your companion noticed every single one of them, and with his keen eye for outer appearance, he managed to memorize their most prominent features.
...next up, weâll look for our suspects and interrogate them, but some of them wonât be very talkative, so I suggest we pull out the big guns right from the get-go... Â
Thanks to the descriptions Reo forwarded to the others, they quickly formed an âintimidation squad,â distributed the students equally amongst each other, and went ahead to do their job.
Nebuya, as the tallest and most muscular out of the rest, was assigned to the first-year students. It was an easy and quick job to intimidate them. All he had to do was stand at the door and ask whether the person that fitted Reoâs description is present and that he wanted to talk about their interest in the clubâs manager. Of course, no one gave the student in question away out of fear and worry about what the basketball team's center might do to them, but the message was successfully forwarded.
Mayuzumi, as the main teamâs third-year, had to take care of the second-years. Thanks to his low presence and high self-pride, he expected that heâd get treated with the necessary respect as these students' senior. That was the case for two or three with whom he talked to. He was quite eloquent, and thanks to his broad novel expertise, he knew how to skillfully ask them whether or not they harbored any strong feelings for you that might have resulted in daily love letters. Others, though, didnât seem to care what he had to say to them and when you became their talkâs topic, they started mocking him and calling him your stalker...and thatâs when he lost his patience. His presence might be low, but the moment he gets annoyed, heâll make sure that everyone knows about it. Mayuzumi took hold of the boyâs collar and brought him close to his own face.
âI donât mind you insulting me, but stay away from her...if you donât...I'll make to follow every step of yours, and youâll have to constantly be on the lookout for me. You know whatâs going to be so fun about it?... Youâll never know whether or not Iâm there, so you better speak up and leave her alone or else...â Â
The person who took care of the third-years was no other than Akashi himself. For him, it didnât matter which year he had to talk to; he was respected, feared, and known by the entire school anyway. Like Nebuya, all he had to do was go to the people in question and ask them what their business with you was, and luckily the majority of them broke the moment they saw his icy glare. Unfortunately, one thought that he shouldnât care about who this rumored emperor was and act according to his status. A bad decision, really...he was lucky enough that all Akashi got his hands on was a broomstick and not something sharper like scissors or even a compass. Long story short, the third-year was successfully interrogated and intimidated, another job well done.
While they were running around and collecting information, Kotaro and Reo were given the task of distracting you and constantly standing by your side, hindering any other people from coming too close to you. But when someone played with the thought of wanting to talk to or even look at you, the blond would only glare at that student until they gave up. Those who had more courage and didnât get that easily intimidated were chased away by Reoâs overly interested attitude. The moment someone came up to you and just interrupted your talk with them, the black-haired young boy would butt in and start showering them with compliments until they either were too creeped out or completely mesmerized.
...our mission will only then be considered a success when she stopped receiving those letters, understood?
A week and a half had passed since the execution of their plan, and one afternoon, Kotaro and Nebuya decided to ask you about those letters.
âOh, those? I stopped receiving them some days ago..â
You werenât as affected as they had expected you to be, but they were glad and happy nonetheless, knowing that their plan had worked. Now, you were theirs, and no one elseâs, and anyone who wanted to take you away from them is hopefully prepared for the consequences...

A Zombie Apocalypse AU. Just a little idea I had. Iâll be writing a total of 3 parts (subject to change,) but anyways hereâs the second :) I hope you enjoy it.
The next few hours over to the West District were certainly much livelier than before. Indeed, Kirishima was like the physical embodiment of a golden retriever. His optimism and charisma was contagious, but damn you if you werenât looking for a cure.
At least Mateo seemed to have cheered up. You were trying your best to allow the anger and sadness eat you alive, but Kirishima was unknowingly beating away your negative emotions with his stupid jokes and his ability to get along with others.
Damn him.
When you finally arrived at the West District after 2 hours, you paid the entrance fee and made your way inside. You decided to trust Kirishima and have him take 25$ and look for a hotel for you all to stay at. You took Mateo to the nearby pawn shop to look for something interesting for him for his birthday.
The West District is a shopping district of sorts; weaponry, food, armor, car parts, gun parts, and other sorts of odds and ends can be found here. Thatâs why it was one of the most crowded and most populated Districts. Thatâs also what made it incredibly easy to be stolen. You had Mateo hold your hand the entire time, lest he or you be stolen.
Before you all separated, you swallowed your feelings and opened the car trunk. Your motherâs shotgun was entirely normal. As a matter of fact, the only identifying factor was a Sakura flower keychain hanging from it. You frowned before handing it over to Kirishima, along with some crumpled up currency.
âIf you lose this, youâll be getting the shit beat out of you twice today,â you growled before firmly placing the gun in Kirishimaâs hands.
He gulped and nodded, âOf course. It wouldnât be very manly of me to lose someone elseâs property. Iâll be sure to return it to you, safe and sound.â
âLookâŚwhen youâre done, weâll be at one of the pawn shops. I donât have a phone, and I assume yours got stolen, if you had one at all-â
Strangely, Kirishima didnât clarify if he had a phone at all to begin with.
â-So just look around. All the pawn shops are clumped together anyway.â
âOkay!â He said with a bright smile. âSee you soon!â
You werenât sure why you were trusting him so much. There was just something soâŚ.likable about him. You werenât sure what though.
Keeping a firm grip on Mateo, you both managed to safely make your way to the pawn shop section of the District. You settled on the first one that you saw, a shabby little shop called Luckyâs Pawn Shop, and followed Mateo around as he looked for another sticker or color of spray paint. (Mateo loved to vandalize buildings, and seeing as how they were all one boring color, you allowed it. No one really cared anyway.)
The entire pawn shop was filled with odd things. All four walls had shelves full of gears, books, broken and whole toys, candle sticks, and other things. The floorspace was taken up by tables and desks of equally odd things. Mangas, comics, novels, old action figures and other such things filled the store.
After about 30 minutes of âI like this color, (Y/N)!â âNo, that colorâs ugly. Pick another one.â And âCheck out this cool sticker, isnât it from that show you used to watch?â âYes, but todayâs for you. Pick something you want,â Kirishima came bounding into the shop, and seemed genuinely insulted that you were surprised to see him again.
âWhat? Did you think I was gonna steal from the people who did me a favor? What kind of unmanly scum do you take me for?â He crossed his arms and was very huffy about the whole thing. You found it endearing.
You laughed, âSorry, sorry. At least youâre back now. Why donât you help Mateo pick out a color? Heâs been struggling and frankly all the colors he picks are lowkey ugly,â you said, pointing at the shelf of half used and cap less spray paint cans.
There were quite a few shades at this shop, which was sort of uncommon.
âHmmâŚhow about this super cool red, little bro?â Kirishima grinned, pointing at a fiery shade of crimson.
You sighed. You should have known heâd go for some shade of red.
âOh! I like it. I only have orange and yellow, so I needed a red anyway. Can I get it, (Y/N)?â
âFine. At least it wasnât that throw up shade of green,â you mumbled before taking the can in one hand and Mateoâs in the other.
âItâs called ARMY GREEN!â He exclaimed in and exasperated tone.
You winked at Kirishima, he smiled and his cheeks flushed slightly pink.
âYeah yeah whatever. Army green, throw up green, same difference. Itâs all green. Ugly colors regardless.â
Mateo shot you a look before you set the can on the front counter. An old woman was bent over so she didnât see you right away. When you cleared your throat to get her attention, she bumped her head under the desk and let out a series of curses before lifting her head up, one robotic arm rubbing the spot where she had hurt herself, and the other gripping the counter for support.
This woman had the wildest white hair you had ever seen. She wore a pair of googles on her head, which had a wire coming out of it and trailing in the floor. She blinked a few times, before smiling kindly.
âOh hello there. Is this all you wanted,â she asked examining the can before looking back at you.
âYes, thatâs all. How much were you wanting for it?â
âHmmâŚthis particular shade was actually made by me, so itâs a full unused can. 5$ and 3 pieces of copper wire.â
You almost choked. Currency AND wire? Was she insane?
Mateo looked slightly saddened, and Kirishima a little confused.
âUmmâŚcopper wire?â Kirishima whispered into your ear;You jumped, startled. His voice caught you off guard, and you nodded, your cheeks flushed.
âMight I offer 6$ and 1 piece of copper wire?â You asked, turning away from Kirishima, trying not to look at Mateo.
âHmmâŚâ the old woman crossed her arms and pondered for a moment, âHow about 3$ and 3 wires?â
You sighed. You really wanted to give the woman less copper wire, but it seemed there was no help for it.
âAlright. Deal,â you mumbled, reaching into your back pocket and extracting the payment she wanted.
15 minutes later, Mateo was grinning and staring at his new paint can on his bed. The hotel Kirishima managed to find was rather nice. You had half a mind to ask how he managed to get a room with a working bathroom, kitchen, and 3 twin beds to boot, all for 25$, but you decided to ask him a little later.
You shooed Mateo off to shower and promised to find something nice to eat for dinner, before sitting Kirishima down at the kitchen table.
He seemed nervous.
âAlright. So I need to know for how long weâre gonna be traveling together for.â You said bluntly.
âW-wow. Straight to the point, huh?â He laughed nervously.
âI have nothing to hide, and as you can see, weâre sort of broke. I canât afford to have another person around, no offense. Mateo is my priority and I need to know how long weâre gonna have you around.â
âW-wellâŚokay look,â he sighed rubbing his face with his hands, âIâŚIâm a runaway.â
You leaned forward on the table.
âA runaway? From who? Are you dangerous? Elaborate.â
âUmmâŚwellâŚmy parents are Buyers. IâŚI ran away 3 days ago.â
Buyers. The worst kinds of people on this godforsaken planet.
Buyers are the people who buy from Kidnappers. It would make sense why Kirishima would want to leave that life, but that would only mean one thing.
Kirishima was originally from a White Zone.
âYouâreâŚfrom a White Zone?â You asked.
âYes. My parents bought freshly Contaminated andâŚdid terrible things to them. I donât want to talk about what they did, it was just awful, but I think you can see why I wanted nothing to do with that life.â
You felt sort of bad for him, he looked distraught.
âThenâŚyou have nowhere to go?â You asked.
âWell, not necessarily. Whenever things got sort of bad, Iâd leave for a bit and Iâve found some friends. They live in the East District, but the thing is, Iâd always come back. This timeâŚI havenât, obviously. They sent someone to come get me, but they robbed me instead, probably to extort more money from my parents.â
âHow come you donât have a bounty on you then?â You were beginning to get somewhat concerned. Harboring a White Zone resident could mean terrible trouble that you really couldnât handle. Not to mention a lot of running away from bounty hunters and other scum.
âMy parents didnât like me all that much to begin with. They were mainly mad I didnât agree with their actions, and they didnât like that I spoke up about it. They want me back because they wonât have to put up a front, but at the same time, not having me home makes it easier on them. They want an obedient child, and thatâs not me,â he said, not meeting your eyes.
âSoâŚno one is looking for you, then?â You asked nervously.
âNo, no I donât think so. This isâŚsuper unmanly of me to ask, butâŚcan I stay with you two? Just for a little bit? Iâve got some contacts around here who still think Iâm living with my parents, and I can get some money for you guys, Iâll make sure to pay you back for helping me, I swear! JustâŚplease, let me stay?â He was pleading with you, looking you deep in your eyes.
His crimson eyes bore into yours, and for the life of you, you couldnât find it within your heart to deny him.
How entirely unfair. He was dangerous and you knew it. Mateo needed to be kept safe butâŚ.
He needed help. You enjoyed his company.
You decided to trust him.
âI-âŚo-okay. JustâŚplease, donât put Mateo in any danger. Heâs the only family I have left, please,â you said quietly, clasping your hands together.
Kirishima smiled the brightest smile youâd ever seen him muster, before standing up. Before you knew what was happening, he had you crushed in a hug.
âI promise!â

Granter of the Stars | Jung Wooyoung
summary â glow in the dark stars are pretty on your ceiling, but wooyoung just makes them even prettier than normal
word count â2.3k words
pairing â wooyoung x gender neutral!reader
genre â fluff, friends to crushes(?), wooyoung isnât as much of a menace to society as he normally is
disclaimer â i wrote this in two hours so itâs not beta read or spellchecked at all so if something looks wonky.... ignore it
âBe careful,â Wooyoung called to you, âif you slip and fall Iâm not going to catch you.â
âYes because thatâs so reassuring to know,â you grumble, rolling your eyes at the boy who sat comfortably on your bed. You had invited him over to help with a new task you had given yourself, sticking glow in the dark stars and moons onto the ceiling of your room. It was supposed to be a fun bonding experience for the both of you and you yourself was super excited to place these all over your room after impulse buying them a week prior.
Instead of helping your cause, however, Wooyoung was simply watching you struggle to reach your disgusting popcorn ceiling. You had to stand up on your tippy toes to even touch the ceiling and you were standing on a chair to even make the impossible possible at the moment.
Sure, Wooyoung wasnât that much taller than you were but his extra inches of height would have helped this process go by much faster than it was. All he had done since arriving at your house was slam face first into your bed and play on his phone the entire time.
âI should have just invited Seonghwa instead,â you teased, already catching the boyâs gaze on you at the mere mention of the older friendâs name. âNot only is he tall enough to reach the ceiling easier than me, but he also would have willingly helped me stick all of this up here.â
âHey, I helped a little bit!â The boy complained, immediately trying to counter your argument.
You roll your eyes at his defensiveness, giving him one look over before peeling another sticker off of your sheet. âReally know? How have you helped me in the past hour and a half youâve been in my house?â You ask him, reacting up on your tippy toes once more to stick the star securely into the ceiling.
âI read the directions on the package,â he confessed, âand then I shined a light on the stickers like the package had said. You know theyâre supposed to be in direct sunlight or under a flashlight first in order to glow in the dark right? I bet you didnât even know thatâs how they worked.â
âMy light is on either way,â you pointed out, gesturing towards the giant ceiling light that was hanging down and illuminating the room. âSo whether or not you shined a light on the stickers or not theyâd still light up.â
Wooyoung mumbled something under his breath, falling back into your sheets as he angrily picked up his phone and began to play with it once more. You were always the one in the friendship that would take the more logical approach towards things, never falling for his baby doll eyes and slickly placed lies. He hated it but heâd never have the guts to say anything about it to you. Not that he really had a chance to call you out on your immunity to him.
âStop pouting,â you demanded, a smile growing across your face as you threw one of the sheets of stickers to him. Wooyoung barely caught them in time, tumbling off of your bed with a thud as a result. âWhatâs your zodiac sign?â
âSagittarius,â the boy replied, rubbing his shoulder as he got off the ground.
âAlright then, go grab a chair and go to that side of the room,â you instructed, pointing towards the emptier side of the room that hadnât been completely littered with stars yet. âMake your zodiac signâs constellation on the ceiling and then Iâll let you chill out for the rest of the day. Youâre not just gonna sit in my room and do nothing while Iâm putting in all the hard work.â
âSo mean,â he teased, but still obliging to your orders.
You finally put the boy to work, watching from the corner of your eye and catching Wooyoung stumbling around on the chair he was standing on. He struggled to find a good angle to start sticking the stars into the sky, not wanting his constellation to look a little wonky and mishappend if he didnât do it correctly. He would lean back obscenely close to the edge of the chair; still maintaining balance but very close to tumbling off and hurting himself.
âBe careful,â you told him, a cheeky smile growing on his face as he reached up to stick a star on the ceiling, âif you fall I wonât catch you.â
He snorted in response as he slapped a few stars into the ceiling. âWow⌠who knew my own words would come back to haunt me?â
For the next ten minutes there was a warm silence between the two, the type of silence where the quietness was welcomed instead of resented. It was a little odd, seeing as Wooyoung was known to be the louder of the bunch when it came to you and your friends but you guess even he can enjoy the tranquility of simply being in the presence of a friend. He didnât even stop placing stars on your ceiling when he had finished recreating the Sagittarius sign, filling up the rest of the empty space without being asked to.
âWooyoung, come here,â You asked of him, gesturing towards the bed where you sat with an almost blank sheet of stickers left. Cautiously the boy hopped off the chair, hitting the ground with a slight thump before scurrying over to your side. âNow sit there and close your eyes, oh and stay still while youâre at it.â
âAre you about to draw something gross on my face?â He questioned, sitting on his knees in front of you as his expression twisted with suspicion. âBecause if you draw something inappropriate on my face, Iâm going to draw something even worse on yours.â
âOh shut up, even if I wanted to draw something stupid on your face no one would see it because youâre just going to go straight home after this.â
âOf course!â Wooyoung grinned, âIâd never give you the opportunity to embarrass me, it would give you too much power.â
âShut up and close your eyes, idiot.â The boy giggled once more, a squeaky and childish laugh escaping his lips and he finally closed his eyes and kept them shut. As quickly and discreetly as possible you began to take the stars off of the sticker sheet, grabbing a hold of Wooyoungâs face and sticking them into his skin. You were surprised by the fact that they were staying on, seeing as though the instructions on the package had clearly started to not put the stars on your skin.
After a few moments of concentrated silence you scooted away from him, a smile on your face as you looked down at your masterpiece. âPerfect! Now open your eyes and turn off the lights.â
âDid you stick the stars on my face?â The boy questioned instead, cautiously touching his face and feeling the suddenly rough texture of his usually smooth skin.
âI had some left over and decided to use them up in a fun way,â you shrugged, ânow you have glow in the dark star freckles! Now hurry up and turn off the lights so that we can see them glow.â
âNot yet!â He told her, scurrying over to where his chair had been and grabbing his sticker sheet. On the sheet were only two mediums stars left and he smiled back at her before saying, âan eye for an eye? A star for a star.â
âOh come on! The glow in the dark stars arenât getting pay back forââ
ââshut up and let me out on the stars!â You groan at his eagerness as he takes the last two stars of the sheet, wobbling over to your side and sticking them underneath your eyes. It was almost like he was mimicking the mole underneath his own eye with them, but giving you an extra one that glowed and wasnât just there to elevate his attractiveness like his. âPerfect, now we can turn off the lights.â
âFinally!â You cheered, jumping up from your bed and scrambling towards the light switch. Wooyoung seemed just as eager as you were, pushing the chairs the two of you had used out of the way so that you could lay on the floor and stare at the final product that hung below you.
âOne,â You began, glancing towards the boy to make sure he was ready.
The boy plopped down on the floor with a thud, laying down on the ground with his arms sprawled out, âTwo.â
âThree!â The lights flashed off, coating the entire room in an ebony black for just a moment. It only took a few seconds for the stars on your ceiling to begin to let off a green hue, lighting up your room one star at a time and creating a similar sight to the night sky. Your eyes sparkled at the stars above you, catching the glow of the stars on your cheeks following suit with the rest of the stickers in the room. It wasnât exactly like the real stars in the sky, but it was still a mystical experience despite the whole ordeal being set up by you and Wooyoung alone.
âItâs so pretty,â you manage to say, finally prying your eyes off of the ceiling to look towards Wooyoung. The boy was sitting up from where he had originally laid now his eyes glued to the ceiling and not even paying attention to the fact that his starry freckles were glowing with the same exact hue as the stars on the ceiling.
âYeah, no kidding,â Wooyoung answered after a moment, turning towards you when he finally snapped himself out of his trance. He couldnât help but snort as he watched you approach, pointing towards the stars under your eyes. âYouâre glowing just like them!â
âSo are you!â You countered. A small gasp of realization left his mouth as he touched the stars you had scattered around his cheeks, finally taking notice to the greenish hue he was emitting along with you. The two of you laughed together as you shined like the fake stars on the ceiling staring up at them in fascination.
âNow that you have stars in your room,â Wooyoung began, leaning back onto the floor to get a good view of the stars on your ceiling. On one side of the ceiling was his star sign, the constellation of Sagittarius and your star sign in the direct opposite side. You had totally forgotten you put your own constellation on the ceiling, you were lucky enough to point Wooyoung to a location where theyâd be facing each other. âYou think we can like⌠make a wish on stars in here or something?â
âYou make a wish on shooting stars,â you clarify, âthese are fake and donât move at all.â
He snorted at your response, not taking any variation of no for an answer. âThatâs a stupid, we donât have to only wish on shooting stars to make them come true you know? In fact, I bet you could become your very own wish granted and make whatever you want come true without a shooting star!â
âOh really now,â you ask him, entertaining his wild behavior.
âOf course!â Wooyoung declared, pointing to your constellation before explaining, âanytime you want your wishes to be granted, make a wish on your star sign and Iâll come running to fulfill it, got it?â
âBut what if my wish is like⌠something super crude? Like what if I get asked to get kissed by my crush or something? How would you make that come true.â
âIâd just make you kiss me, duh.â He shrugged, taking you off guard for a moment. Wooyoung was so bold in his answers and for what? âI mean itâs not like youâve got a crush in the first place! In all my years of knowing you, you havenât liked anyone. Which is crazy, because not only are you constantly around me, the most attractive person youâll ever meet, but you're also around my other friends who are also attractive but not as much as I am.â
âThat confidence is going to get you hurt.â You remind him.
Though it seemed as though the boy didnât care, smiling up at your starry ceiling and picking at the glowing sticker on his face. âThis confidence is what got me here in the first place.â
You scoff at his words, not taking them to heart knowing how much it would boost the boyâs ego to know you knew his confidence was his charm. But he was just as human as you were, which meant that all confidence would come to an end eventually.
âOkay then,â you declared, sitting up straight and facing the glowing constellation on your ceiling. Wooyoungâs eyes followed you carefully in silent intrigue as you held your hands together and called out your wish to it. âI wish for Wooyoung the Sagittarius to kiss me and not bail out on it because heâs a wuss.â
The boy laughed at your wish, earning an annoyed glare from you almost immediately. What was so funny to him? âOh my god, I canât believe you fell for it,â He said between chuckles, struggling to compose himself for even a second. âYou just fell for my trap card, Y/N.â
âI donât think Iâm understanding?â You tell him.
âI give everyone kisses so I wouldnât just bail on you because Iâm a wuss or something,â Wooyoung explained, scooting closer to you with a mischievous grin on his face. The light of the star stickers illuminated the browns of his eyes, exposing the eager and roguish glint in his eyes as he continued to speak, âbut Iâve just been waiting for the right moment to give you one too.â

First try
Year 2
It was the second Valentine's Day after the beginning of the Age of Anarchy, and the capacity that the human being had to adapt themselves to the most terrible of conditions never ceased to amaze him. The economy had collapsed, the government had fallen, his school was practically one of the last ones still in open, and there was a âfucking junkieâ ruling the city...
But the world celebrated Valentine's Day anyway.
Or at least in his class did.
The teacher had brought a bunch of cardboard boxes, that looked like she had fought with some tramps to get them (which she probably did, they were too many boxes for one person to generate) (unless she was a crazy person who collected boxes). She gave one to each one of her students, took out the last bottles of paint, pieces of colored cardboard, and rusty scissors, and then told them that today they were going to learn how to make a mailbox.
At first, Hugh had no idea what turning a box into a mailbox had to do with the curriculum the school was supposed to follow. It's not like people sent a lot of letters anyway. But when the girls got excited, he remembered that February 14 was something like an important date. And then, he remembered an activity that they did during his first year, when everyone decorated a box for their classmates to put letters and sweets in it.
First year⌠And now he was in his third year.
Time flies by.
After telling them which parts to cut into (Hugh had to share his scissors with other three classmates because there weren't enough for everyone), she invited them to pick the decorations they wanted to put on their mailboxes. The girls pounced on the pink, red, and even white paint, while most of the boys laughed, saying it was a stupid activity and they didn't want to do it. Hugh felt the urge to agree, but he didn't
He had already tried to make them like him. It hadn't worked for him.
So he grabbed a bottle of navy blue paint, some cartoon bear stickers, some notebook paper, and a bitten pencil. That would be enough to make his mailbox and his cards.
After a while, he started to have a good time. Crafts had never been his strong suit, but he was proud of how it ended up looking. One couldnât tell his mailbox used to be a cereal box because the paint he used was so dark, that it only needed two coats of it and it dried much faster than Abernathyâs, who had practically finished the pink paint trying to hide the face of that missing child in the milk carton box the teacher gave to her. Hugh realized that she was holding her tears back, and as the good classmate that he was, he told her not to worry, that the missing child could be decoration if she painted him a mustache or something, and it would look very funny. Abernathy, far from finding it funny, acted super offended, assuring she had never met a child as rude and insensitive as Hugh Everhart, and she ran out of the classroom, hiding her face in her hands and screaming like a baby.
Unfortunately, the rest of his class agreed with her, and when it came time to deliver the cards, Hugh did not receive a single one. Although he doubted it had anything to do with that missing boy thing.
They wouldn't have given him anything anyway.
He wasn't sure if they knew he was a prodigy. Maybe they had noticed that it wasn't normal that Hugh had practically broken a chair in two when he placed his backpack on it to get something out, or that he had left the PE teacher unconscious when he accidentally threw a ball at his face while they were playing soccer. The teachers, if they noticed, didn't say anything. After all, that school was supposed to be only for normal kids.
Not prodigies.Â
But children could be very insightful. Most likely, they did notice and therefore did not want to be associate with him.
Or maybeâÂ
Maybe they just didn't want to hang out with Hugh, because of⌠that.
Because he was Hugh.
He decided to wait for everyone else to leave before starting to cry (or before breaking another chair, whichever came first). Or at least that was what he was about to do when he heard that someone had come up with the same idea as him and started crying first.Â
Simon Westwood had never been too talkative. Even before his older sister and mother died, he liked to sit at the last table, not speaking to anyone, and some older kids were constantly picking on him, without any teacher trying to do anything to stop them.
Not that Hugh was paying much attention to him or something.
The teacher practically ran to see what was going on with Simon Westwood, asking him what happened and why hadnât he finished decorating his mailbox. Simon Westwood tried to explain it to her, but he was mumbling his words so neither the teacher nor Hugh could understand what he was saying.Â
Hugh didnât get mad with him though. His mom had died. His sister died too, a couple of weeks later. He wouldnât be in the mood for doing cheesy crafts if the same had happened to him. But the teacher wasnât as benevolent as him, and started to say things like she was trying really hard to bring joy to her students, and that she was sure that if he tried a little bit harder, he would be able to enjoy Valentineâs Day, like the rest of them.Â
âLetâs see what nice things your classmates have said about you,â she exclaimed. But that only made Simon Westwood start crying again.
No one had given him a card.Â
Like⌠no one.
And Hugh was listening to all of this conversation, just sitting there, trying to stay as stiff as he could so they wouldnât notice he was there (as if he werenât literally right in front of them). Seeing Simon cried like that made him think that maybe he was just acting though when the other kids laugh at him because of his looks, his ratty old clothes (older and rattier than theirs), or justâ
His mind exploded.Â
He suddenly understood why the other kids didn't like Simon Westwood. It was before he was him.
Just like how they didnât like Hugh Everhart because he was Hugh Everhart.Â
When the teacher went out of the classroom with Simon, saying something about calling his dad (although he knew they wouldnât be able to do that, since no one had a functioning phone those days), he took one of the cards he did for his classmates, cards that he never gave to them, and put one inside Simon Westwoodâs mailbox/cereal box. He had left his backpack and his things there. When he came back to take them home, he would see the card too.
A voice in his head told him to get out of there before he came back, but another one told him to stay. Maybe Simon Westwood and he could be friends. Maybe he would understand what it felt like to be hated just for the way you were born. Maybe he was a prodigy too.Â
Or maybe he wasnât.
He couldnât take that chance.Â
So Hugh went home, but promised Simon Westwood (and himself) he would keep an eye on him.Â
After all, friends were there to have each otherâs back.Â
Because they were friends, even if Simon didn't know it yet.
Second try
Year 9
They were friends.Â
He had never seen Hugh before meeting him on that alley where Simon got his powers. Likeâ he had seen him because he was in the same class as him, but he hadn't really seen him. During his childhood years, Simon was more focused on other things. Like being a little depressed and anxious ball with skinny legs and skinny arms, for example.
It wasnât like he wasnât depressed or anxious now. Nor it was he had gotten super muscular all of the sudden, like Hugh (he had always been bigger than the other kids, but he practically turned twelve and already looked like a teenager, except for the voice and the face).Â
But at that moment, he wasnât depressed or anxious. He felt weirdly at peace.Â
He and Hugh were walking down the street, thinking about which store were they going to rob that day to get dinner for them and their families, when Simon noticed a couple holding hands in front of an abandoned cafĂŠ. She had dark hair and he had blue eyes, which looked at his girlfriend as if she was the Virgin Mary or something. Then, she kissed him and gave him a small blue flower and a heart-shaped card. The guy looked so moved by the gesture that he kissed her on the lips again, with so much more passion than before.Â
Simon looked away before they realized he was looking at them, not only because he didnât want to come off as creepy, but also because he knew how awkward he would feel if they started to make out or something.Â
âLove is in the air,â Hugh sang.
Simon chuckled. âYou noticed them too?â
âI noticed them when she gave him the flower,â he told him. âI had never seen a girl giving flowers to a guy before.â
âTimes have changed, I guess. Thatâs why they donât feel uncomfortable giving such public displays of affection. Kids in our day werenât like that.â
âI know, right?â said Hugh continuing with the joke. âThey are so perverted. There are children present, for Godâs sake.â
Simon chuckled again and Hugh stopped to tie his shoe. While he was there, Simon noticed he was throwing glances at them.Â
âYou know, giving them the death stare isnât gonna prevent them from being in love,â Simon told him.
âI can try,â Hugh joked. Then, he shook his head. âItâs not that. I justââ
He waited for him a couple of seconds before asking, âJust what?â
He finally answered, âSomeday weâll have something like that.â
Simon frowned. âHuh?â
âYou know,â Hugh mumbled. âWeâll have girlfriends andâ and all of that.â
âOh!â Simon exclaimed. âYeah, someday, yeah.â
But before Simon could keep talking about it (or just develop some opinion on the topic) Hugh shrugged and urged him to keep walking. âI guess. I didnât even remember today was Valentineâs Day though. They were my reminderââ he turned around and waved at them ââThank you, exhibitionists, you reminded me what day is it!â
Now, Hugh probably didnât mean for them to hear him say that. Simon knew him well enough to know Hugh thought he wasnât being loud, but the thing was⌠Hugh was always loud. He could be âwhisperingâ and the whole neighborhood would hear him ask Simon if he knew how bars with strippers worked because he did know, and wanted to brag about it. Then, Simon would feel embarrassed, because, in fact, he didnât know how bars with strippers work.
Simon immediately turned around and realized the girl was looking at them with an expression he couldnât read. He turned invisible and pushed Hugh inside of an alley, hoping those trashcans hid them well enough in case the guy turned out to be a freaking animal and wanted to kick their flat asses for calling them exhibitionists.Â
Simon felt the anxiety kicking in, when Hugh started laughing so loud, that said anxiety turn into the need of punching him really hard on the arm.
So he did it. Multiple times.
âDude, dude, shut the fuck up, dude,â Simon said keeping his voice low (because he could keep his voice down, unlike others), âthat guyâs gonna kick our asses, for real. Dudeeeeââ
But his voice kinda cracked when he said that âDudeeeââ and that made Hugh laugh even more, so Simon kept punching him, using a vocabulary that would make the most dangerous of gangster blush. And he probably would have kept hitting him, if the anxiety of being discovered hadn't been overshadowed by how weird it made him feel to see his best friend laugh.
When Hugh laughed, his cheeks would turn red and his eyes would water. They could be in the most embarrassing situation ever, one where no one was laughing, and if he found it funny, he was going to do it, because he wasn't going to be able to help it. And it wasn't like Simon would stop him, either. Not at all. He liked it when he laughed.Â
Even though he ended up making him laugh too. Like at that moment.
Most of the garbage ended up in the drains, the sidewalk, or anywhere else except where it belonged, the trash can. Generally, Hugh always refused when someone hinted at sitting on the floor, precisely for that reason. However, on that occasion, the two were sitting in that stinking alley, throwing pebbles at each other, playing with some bottle caps they found on the ground, and arguing about who would win a bare-handed fight, Wonder Man or Phantom Feline.
They decided it was time to go home when a cat-sized rat appeared out of nowhere, and the two of them came out screaming like idiots, even faster than they would have run if that guy with the girlfriend would have chased them. They ran until they reached Simon's house, all sweaty and tired, their hands on their bent knees and breathing heavily.
Then Hugh laughed again. And his cheeks were flushed again, and his eyes were watery again, and he made Simon laugh again until Mr. Westwood came home from work and told him to go inside, that it was too late to be outside.
Once he was locked in his room, with his younger sister playing in the living room and his father in the kitchen, the image of that guy kissing his girlfriend did not make him feel anything. So, he tried to imagine kissing a lot of girls that he considered a thousand times more attractive, but just when it seemed that the idea was beginning to be something desirable, Hugh came back, with his laugh, his screams, and his eyes, like one of those freaking trains that he dreamed of having the opportunity to stop one day and that never missed a single chance to tell Simon all about it.Â
The truth was that Simon did believe that Hugh might be able to stop a train with his bare hands, but he doubted he would be able to stop the train of thought that Simon hopped on whenever he thought of him. And he was so ashamed to know that not even the strongest prodigy on the planet was capable of doing that, that he decided to take those memories from the collar of the old blue hoodie that each one of them wore and bury them alive in the backyard of his memory.
Forever and ever.
Thrid try
Year 12
Two months ago, after their first date, Simon told Hugh he would never plan another important date, forever and ever. But now, Simon had let him plan their first Valentine's Day together without putting any objections, proving that he trusted him. And he was happy for him; Simon had always had problems when it came to trusting other people. It was nice to see the other grow to become a better person.Â
And it was even nicer when you were no longer only friends, but a couple.Â
So yeah, he wanted to make Valentine's Day special. It was kind of a big deal.Â
Georgia and Tamaya brainstormed with him places he could take Simon to. They all agreed that it had to be a place safe enough and that it wouldn't put them in a situation where they had to reveal their powers, and by consequence, their secret identities. But then, everything started going downhill, especially because Georgia had some very odd ideas (like something about flowers, a choreographed dance, and poetry) and Tamaya was as romantic as a rock (âJust don't end up nearly killing yourself in front of him, that should be enough.â)
It was February 13th, and Hugh was on his cot, a bit angry at Georgia and Tamaya, not only because they couldn't help him on such an important mission as they promised, but also because they blamed him for their failure, telling him that he "had no imagination" and that he "thought with his dick", just because he thought all their ideas were horrible.Â
Maybe he should have phrased that better...Â
Simon and Evander slept on the bunk bed Simon used to share with his younger sister. Simon was taking a shower, so he was all alone with Evander and Kasumi, who sometimes went there to visit her best friend, even if Tamaya told her not to do it because it smelled horrible in there and she would bring the odor to the girlâs bedroom (Hugh thought the room didn't smell bad at all, and if it did, it was because Evander acted like he was living in the street yesterday and had no sense of personal hygiene). But Kasumi didnât seem to mind, and she spent most of her afternoons cuddling with Evander on the top bunk, while she read an old book and Evander read one of Simonâs comics (because Hugh would join the Anarchists before letting Evander touch his comics).
They started whispering at each other about who knows what, and even though he kind of wanted to know what they were talking about, he was just too tired, so he decided to put a pillow on his face and try to fall asleep. But then, he heard, quite clearly, that they said his name.Â
And he couldnât let slip that.Â
He pulled the pillow off his face, and said, âWhat are you saying about me?â
They both peered over the edge of the bunk. âWe were talking about how you're not good at romance,â Evander replied.
The audacity of that bâ boy.
âYou are eleven years old," he told him. âWhat are you going to know about romance?â
âNo more than you,â Kasumi acknowledged, very solemnly.
Hugh made his âSee?â face and he looked away.
Then, Evander asked, âWhy donât you take him to Cosmopolis Park?â
Oh, stars. He couldnât be serious.
Cosmopolis Park.
A freaking theme park.Â
Evander was eleven, all right. His idea of a date was probably something out of a princess movie he and Kasumi watched from time to time (sometimes Tamaya joined them too and she always acted like she was just watching it to make fun of it, even though everyone in the house knew she had a weird soft spot for cheesy princess movies). But Hugh was technically an adult now. He should know better, and knowing better was not taking your boyfriend to a theme park for Valentineâs Day. That wasnât very romantic.
âWhat a stupid idea.â
Kasumi got red all of the sudden. For the look at Evanderâs face, Hugh knew he had fucked up even before she said, âIt was my ideaâŚâ
âOhâ no, Zoomie, I⌠what I meant was thatââ
âDonât fix it, bro,â Evander interrupted him. âYouâre gonna make me want to punch you more.â
He wasnât afraid of Evander punching him because he couldnât compare a kidâs strength to his, but he obeyed him and mumbled a small, âSorry.â
The âsorryâ was for Kasumi though, not for Evander. If Kasumi hadnât been there, he probably would have told Evander something like âOh, yeah? Youâre gonna punch me, little punk? Come on, punch me, donât be a pussyâ (and then Georgia would have stormed into the room, telling him not to use the word âpussyâ, and they would have pointed at each other saying âHe started it!â)
After giving him a goodnight kiss, Kasumi got off Evanderâs bed, with the book under her arm. Before leaving the room, she knelt beside Hugh to kiss him goodnight, as to show his comment didnât cause her to feel any kind of resentment towards him.
Because of course it didnât. Kasumi was like that.
âI was just sayingâ Valentineâs Day is also a day to be with friends,â she whispered. âAnd you and Simon are not only boyfriends but also... you know, friends. I bet that wherever you take him, it'd be magical for both of you. Because you find magic in each other's company, even before you knew you were in love. So... why not?â
She turned off the lights on her way out.
He never thought Kasumiâs tendency to romanticize everything was odd or weird. It was something that he expected from a teenage girl, especially one who has such a vivid imagination. But he also never expected that imagination would help him in some way. And he never expected for her to say the exact words he wanted to hear, even before he knew he wanted to hear them.
She was so wise.
Cosmopolis Park didnât sound like a bad idea anymore when Simon entered just after Kasumi, wearing his pajamas, and asked him with a teasing voice, âSo⌠where are you gonna take me tomorrow?â
Hugh didnât know if Evander was already asleep, so he just smiled at him and told him it was a surprise. Simon rolled his eyes and gave him a soft kiss on the nose before getting into his own bed.Â
It was his way of telling him he trusted him. And relationships were supposed to be built upon trust. He didn't need anyone to tell him that.
As far as he knew, Simon hadn't been to Cosmopolis Park in years, probably before the Age of Anarchy began. It was no secret that the park was currently full of gangs and drug addicts but it was still a relatively peaceful place. At least peaceful enough that the park was full of families, groups of friends, and tons of couples.
Although there werenât any couples...
Well, there werenât any couples like them.
He wondered if Simon noticed that small detail too, but when he turned to ask him that, he knew it would be better if he just kept his comments to himself. Because he wasn't an expert reading other people's emotions, but Simon...
Simon looked so happy at the moment.
The two walked side by side, their shoulders brushing against each other's, but their hands tucked deep into their pockets. Hugh was trying to keep his eyes fixed forward to avoid bumping into anyone, but the small chuckles Simon let out every time he saw something that surprised him, made said task impossible. Suddenly, he no longer wanted to avoid the embarrassment that would cause him to bother someone by bumping into them; he wanted to look at him.
He wanted to look at him trying to hide his laughter by covering his mouth with his hand, as if he wanted to suppress some kind of dark feeling, without realizing that his joy was so full of light that it was practically impossible. He wanted to continue to see how his dark eyes, with very long lashes and deep bags under the eyes, perfectly captured the lights of the Ferris wheel and the food trucks. He wanted to see the tiny smile he had the entire time they were at the park because even if Simon didn't smile like that very often, when he did, Hugh felt as if he was witnessing the most wonderful of miracles.
Hugh took his hands out of his pocket, and when he turned his attention back to Simon, he was looking at him too. They stopped in their tracks, not caring that people passed around them, sometimes unintentionally pushing them a bit or stepping on their shoelaces.Â
Hugh took a step forward and Simon did too.Â
Then Simon pulled a hand out of his grey jacket's pocket, making him wonder if he was dreaming or if it was really going to happen.
Hugh held his breath and felt the blood rush to his face, along with the overwhelming feeling that everyone around him was staring at them, with the newly acquired gift of recognizing those two faces that always hid behind pair of colorful masks and now were gazing at each other with true devotion. He desperately wanted to know what was going through their heads, he wanted to know if they still considered them worthy of their admiration and respect, and he wanted to know if he had been right when he assured Simon that, someday, the two of them would hold each other in public without thinking it twice.
But then, just as Simon's fingers brushed his cheek, his attention was completely diverted to someone behind Hugh.
âAre you talking to me?â he asked awkwardly.
Hugh turned to see who his boyfriend was talking to. He was a slightly older man, juggling three balls and standing on the table of his own stand. He was smiling at Simon and he had a mustache that quite frankly made him look like a ridiculous comic villain.
âYes, you!â and he threw a ball at Simon.
Simon covered his face with his hands, but Hugh caught the ball before it hit him.
Who did this guys think he was?
The guy, far from mocking Simon's reaction, seemed intrigued. âDo you want to win a prize, big guy?â he asked Hugh.
Hugh was ready to say no to him in the kindest way he could, when the guy pulled out a laundry basket, like the one Georgia put on his head every Sunday, saying "Laundry time!" in a voice so high that made birds explode.Â
âYou just have to throw that ball you have in your handââ he raised the basket ââhere. And you can win a prize.â
He finally gave him a chance to reply. âNo, thank you, weâre fine.â
He shoved his hands into his pockets again and told Simon to keep going. But the guy did not give up.
âI see,â he crooned from afar. âYour dad didn't play ball with you and that's why you don't think you're capable of throwing it correctly. Itâs fine.â
Simon put his hand to his mouth as if thinking "Oh, stars, he did not."
And Hugh looked at him as if thinking "Oh, but he did."
If that guy knew who he was talking to, he would probably think it twice before making comments to strangers mocking their lack of a father figure.
So he turned abruptly and threw the ball into the basket.
If Hugh had been a little calmer, he probably would have been able to remember that, before leaving the house, Tamaya had told him that theme parks were full of games that had the sole purpose of scamming people and that one of them was that game in particular. The balls bounced so much that even if they made contact with the bottom of the basket they would jump back to whoever threw it, making them technically lose.
He would also have listened to himself, to Hugh, who told him that it would be best to turn around and get on with their lives, and not to Captain Chromium, who was determined to win that freaking game because he won every single game the world put in his way.Â
After three balls, the guy turned to Simon, extended his hand at him, and told him, âIt's fifteen dollars.â
That was enough to make him lose his mind. Hugh told him that it was not worth arguing with him, but Captain Chromium did not tolerate that people tried to take advantage of him, and he spent about ten minutes screaming with the mustachioed man, until Simon panicked (or lost his mind), grabbed one of the balls and threw it right in the manâs eye.
Then, he did take Hugh by the hand.
But just to be sure they both got out of there before someone tried to stop them.
They ended the evening at a hamburger stand several blocks away from Cosmopolis Park (because obviously, they weren't going to stay there after the show they had put on). They did not have enough money to buy two sodas, but they bought a strawberry juice carton to share and sat on the sidewalk to eat their hamburgers of doubtful provenance, ranting against the man, against the park, and, especially, against those damn balls.
âI can't believe there are people like him breathing the same oxygen I breathe,â Simon commented, before taking a bite out of his burger ravenously. âHe had no right to make that joke.â
But Hugh was so distracted by how attractive Simon looked when he bit his hamburger like that all he could say was:
âIf my dad knew I couldn't win that stupid game, he would abandon me again.â
Simon frowned a little bit, repeating the sentence in his head until he finally understood the joke, and laughed so hard he began to choke with his food. Hugh started to panic and told Simon he would give him five back blows like he read he should do when someone started to choke. That was enough for Simon to spit his food on a napkin. Both were so grossed out by it, that they started laughing again. Simon hid his face on Hugh's shoulder, practically using his fit of laughter as an excuse to snuggle against him, and Hugh used his own angriness as an excuse to stay right there, telling the entire world to go to hell, and willing to keep doing it forever, just as long as the conversation didn't end and they had to go home.Â
Georgia and Tamaya would kill them. It was already late at night.Â
Fourth try
Year 17
It was already late night when they arrived at the motel.
Simon had stayed invisible the entire time they were at the reception like he always did when they had one of those more⌠private nights out. Hugh was the one who was in charge of booking the room because Simon got too anxious anyway at the mere idea of ââhaving to interact with one of the receptionists.
It was one thing for his entire family (or the Council, as they had been calling themselves lately, as a joke) to know that tonight he was going to have sex. Strangers knowing it was a completely different thing.
He still wasn't quite sure which one was more embarrassing, but yeah. It was different.
He only became visible again when Hugh closed the door behind him.
Simon looked at the huge sports bag that Hugh carried with him. âWhat you got there?â
âNothing important,â he assured with a shrug. He was smiling like he was a kid getting a bunch of presents at Christmas, and Simon was extremely happy too, so, without asking any more questions, he kissed him on the lips and went to the bathroom to give both of them time to get ready.
Not that they hadn't done that before. They didn't like having such intimate moments in the house. And even if they had wanted to, it was practically impossible to have even a minute of privacy there. The last time he had slept in a room by himself had probably been⌠never. And the number of occasions someone had opened the bathroom door while he was there were more than he could count. The door lock had been broken for a few weeks but nobody knew how to solve the problem because they had no idea how doors worked. Georgia had tried to implement a serious policy of knocking before entering any room with the door closed, but the only one who paid attention to her was Adrian because the rest of them were simply too used to walk around the house as if they were in their own houses. (That they were their house, but it was more Simon's house than theirs.)
In fact, it was the first time in forever that he was in a bathroom and he didn't have to put his hand on the door, to stop whoever tried to open the door before they ended up seeing him in the most vulnerable of positions, so Simon took off his T-shirt, his jeans, and sat on the toilet, wearing his underwear and his jacket, trying to enjoy his first moment of privacy in a long time.
At least until his legs started to feel cold and Hugh told him that he could go out now.
When he came out of the room, Hugh, who was lying on the bed, widened his eyes. Simon was already ready to hear a flattering comment, but instead, he frowned and asked, âAre you going to leave your socks on?â
Simon looked at his feet automatically. He had indeed left his socks on.
He didn't see anything wrong with it.
âThe carpet is filthy,â he replied. âI don't want to get fungus or something like that.â
Hugh found no fault with his logic. âOkay, but take them off when you get on the bed,â he asked.
Then Simon realized that Hugh, not only never stopped doing that ridiculous pose that pretended to be sexy throughout the entire conversation, but he also had thrown out the (probably dirty) bedsheets from the motel bed and put instead one of the blankets they took out of the closet to cover themselves during winter.
So that's what he carried in his sports backpack.
Hugh seemed to realize that Simon was looking at the blanket and not at him, because he immediately said, âOh, I hate motel bedsheets.â
Simon couldn't help but laugh. âYou hate them?â
Hugh finally stopped doing that ridiculous pose and sat down. âYou just never know who sleep in them before us, Simon,â he replied, âand you never know when was the last time they washed them. Maybe theyâ â he pointed to the pile of blankets thrown away ââare covered on the⌠bodily fluids of twenty other people, and you want me to lie on them? Is that how you want us to make love? Like animals?â
Simon kept laughing, but Hugh wasnât laughing. âSimon, stop it!â he exclaimed. âA new class of bacteria could be there, âcauseâ oh, I am convinced that those things have a new kind of bacteria no one has discovered yet, andâ â
And he went silent when Simon put his hands on his shoulders, still with a smile on his lips.
âWhat?â
âHugh, have I ever told you I think you're really sexy when you out crazy me?â Simon asked, running his fingers through his hair.
Hugh stood still, looking directly into his eyes. âNo, I think you havenât.â
Simon shrugged. âWellâ I think you're really, really, sexy when you out crazy me.â
âWell, I think⌠I thinkââ
Hugh could no longer continue his sentence. Even though Simon wasn't doing anything to stop him from speaking.
He was literally just standing in front of him, one knee leaning on the mattress and one hand on Hugh's head.
âYou think?â he asked him. âThatâs new.â
âSimon, wait, I'm trying to seduce you,â Hugh said.
Simon took a step back, pointing to the bathroom door. âI think Iâd wait over there.â
âNo, waitââ he gently grabbed his wrist before he could move further away ââIâm starting to⌠Let me think of something.â
Simon chuckled. He put his knee on the mattress again and Hugh grabbed him around his waist, pulling him close to him and resting his head on his chest, while Simon rested his chin on his head. He had just taken a bath when they came out of the house, so Hughâs hair smelled of him and lemon zest because they have been using dish soap as shampoo the last week.
That was the kind of privacy that they sometimes lacked at home. He was no longer talking about sex. Simon craved to have him like this, so close to him. Both in their underwear, both in a practically unknown place, and both completely vulnerable, but together. Feeling at home, even if technically they weren't.
Because Hugh was his home.
He was sure he saw him that way too.
Simon was so focused on trying to capture that moment in his memory so that he could repeat it over and over again for the rest of his life, that he was totally thrown when Hugh blurted out:
âI think you have a nice dick, dude.â
Simon broke the hug ... âWhat?â
Hughâs cheeks turned even redder. âTell me I didn't say that.â
He put a hand up to try to hide his laughter. âNo, I think you did.â
He still couldnât believe that was Hughâs best try to seduce him. And apparently, Hugh couldn't believe it either.
âThenâ forget about it,â he stammered. âLet's all of us forget about it.â
Simon realized that he tried to grab him by the waist again, but he moved away just in time, pretending to be extremely offended. âSo I don't have a nice dick.â
âLet's just stop saying the word dick, please.â
âYou started it.â
âI PANICKED, ALL RIGHT?â
âPANICKING IS MY JOB!â
âIâM TAKING YOUR JOB THEN. AND IâM GONNA STEAL YOUR BOYFRIEND TOO IF YOU KEEP LAUGHING!â
Simon didn't try to pretend that he wasn't laughing, because he was more than aware that it was already too obvious at this point.Â
So he decided it was better to play along.
âNo, don't take my boyfriend!â he exclaimed dramatically, putting his hands on his shoulders. âTake me instead.â
Hugh took him by the waist and pulled him close. Simon didn't try to walk away this time. âDeal.â
But when Simon was about to start kissing him, he diverted his attention from Hugh for a split second, making him realize the curtains were wide open. âOh, shoot, waitâ the curtains.â
Luckily he hadnât taken off his socks yet.
With quick steps, he headed to the window. He put a hand on each curtain and was about to close it completely when the lights of a car approaching from the end of the street caught his attention. It was a yellow sports car that looked more like a ripe banana than a vehicle.
Shit.
It stopped a few feet past the motel they were at. Out of it came a short man, with scars on his face and thin hair, and a tall blonde woman in a yellow dress, very inappropriate for the occasion. Not because it was provocative thought. Itâs just that no one would wear such an expensive-looking dress in such a dangerous neighborhood unless they wanted to be robbed.
Or that they had enough status not to be.
Simon turned to see Hugh. âHeyââ Hugh looked up slightly. ââCome here.â
Hugh obeyed, a little bit confused, after putting his socks on (obviously). Simon had closed the curtains just enough for them not to be noticed but also not so much that they couldnât see what was happening on the street.
Hugh gasped. âAre thoseââ
Simon swallowed hard. âCyanide and Queen Bee in person.â
âWhat are they doing here?âÂ
Simon had as much an idea of ââwhat Queen Bee and Cyanide were doing there as Hugh had, but he responded with the first thing that came to his mind anyway.
âProbably celebrating Valentine's Day,â he replied. âWhat a shitty place to take your girlfriend during Valentineâs Day though.â
At least take her to a motel. Like I did with Hugh.
âDo you think Queen Bee and Cyanide are together?â Hugh asked Simon.
Simon shrugged. âI don't know, but I know Queen Bee has a thing for Ace Anarchy.â
He had the slight hope that Hugh would take the bait and give him a chance to discuss his theories about Queen Bee's fixation with Ace Anarchy (which he always talked about with Tamaya), but Hugh, despite being very nosy, just kept quiet, watching Queen Bee and Cyanide argue outside the car.
How could that woman walk in such big heels?
âOr maybe Cyanide is the one who has a thing for Ace Anarchy,â Hugh blurted out suddenly.
Simon turned to see him. âWait, really?â
âDon't be so heteronormative, Simon,â he scolded him. âPlus, I've never been in the cathedral, but I bet that when you enter there, it reeks homosexuality.â
âDudeââ
âI just know.â
And they kept watching.Â
There was something very personal about seeing two people arguing from a distance, like old ladies peering out of their home windows whenever the neighbors had a particularly loud fight. Simon almost considered it romantic.
Then, Queen Bee tried to turn around to turn her back on Cyanide, but something went wrong with her heel and she went face first towards the sidewalk, letting out a scream that could make someone think she was being murdered, and causing Cyanide (and the two of them) to laugh out loud.
How could that woman walk with those heels? Well, apparently, she couldn't.
The tension he felt when Cyanide interrupted his laughter and turned around as if he knew someone was watching them, made him remember that they were not gossiping old ladies peeking out of the window of their house and that those two were not some neighbors having a little fight. No, they were Dread Warden and Captain Chromium, stuffed into a hotel room like they were fugitives from the law or something, and those two little people in the middle of the street were two of the most feared and powerful villains in the world.
There was nothing romantic about that.
So Simon immediately closed the curtains.Â
But now neither of them was in the mood to have sex anymore, really.
âWe should do something.â
âI'm on it.â
Hugh was already crouched slightly by the bedside, pulling his unmistakable superhero suits out of his sports bag.
Simon was so puzzled that he couldn't even stop to enjoy the⌠image that Hugh was inadvertently giving him by bending down like that.
âWait, did you actually bring our supersuits to our date?â he asked him.
âYeah,â he replied without looking up.
Who knows what kind of demon got into Simon at the time, but a not very family-friendly thought crossed his mind, and that thought was the one that made him ask, âWhy?â
Hugh, completely unaware of what he was thinking, handed Simon his clothes and dropped the two pairs of boots on the floor as he sat in the bed.Â
Only the stars knew how he had managed to fit a blanket, their shoes, and their suits in that sports backpack.
âBecause I thought something like this was gonna happen,â he explained while putting on his leggings. âYou know, crime doesnât celebrate Valentineâs Day the same way we do.â
Oh.
The little not very family-friendly thought hadn't been right then.
Simon felt a bit sick admitting that he wasn't sure if he was relieved or disappointed.
âOh. I thought...â
Hugh looked at him, intrigued, and a second later, he understood what Simon was thinking. âOh, stars, no. I was not thinking about that.â
âAll right then.â
Now it was Hugh's turn to watch him change. Simon knew that was what he was doing.
Because he knew his look better than he knew anyone else's.
When he was fully dressed, Simon reached out to reach for his shoes, and Hugh put his own hand over his', to get his attention.
He already had the mask on, but he could see that he had turned red. If Simon had been white too, he probably would be redder than him.Â
He swallowed. âUnlessâ unless you're into it?â
Simon swallowed too. But he didnât plan to answer him right now.
It had been hard enough to put on their suits. They didnât need to start taking them off.Â
So he pulled his hand away and started putting on his shoes.
âHugh, the villainsââ he reminded him.
âRight, right.â Hugh brushed off his knees. âThe villains. Thatâs important.â
After making sure the door had the lock on (and that said lock worked), they turned off the lights, Simon turned invisible, and Hugh climbed onto the roof, pushing himself off the window frame as fast as possible so that Queen Bee and Cyanide, who were turning their backs on them, standing in front of the door of an apparently abandoned building as if waiting for someone, did not see him. Afterward, Simon followed him, assuring him that he could climb on his own.
The two remained hiding behind the building's water tank. Well, Hugh was behind the building's water tank, and Simon was in plain sight, invisible, with his hood on and his cape fluttering behind him, making him feelâŚ
He wanted to say that it made him feel heroic, but the truth was that Simon also felt very sexy when he got into this mysterious and threatening mode.Â
Simon turned his hand visible and pointed at them as if to say "Are we going or what?"
Hugh turned to see them with a frown, analyzing the situation. But when Simon was about to ask him what they were waiting for, Hugh turned to see him, with the same smile he had on his face when he was about to let the world know the coolest plan of all the plans, completely ignorant that in reality, it was the dumbest thing he had ever came up with.
âWait, I have an idea.â
And in that situation, Simon had to take the role of being the one to tell him that his idea was bullshit and that it wasn't going to work, but he used to listen to his idea before expressing his comments about it. Not only because he didn't like talking without knowing all the facts first, but because may he could go to Tamaya the next day and tell her what had happened in the last episode of Hugh Had an Idea And It Went Wrong.
(They also enjoy episodes of Evander Acted Like An Animal Again and Queen, Realize That Junkie Doesnât Care About You, Please.)
âDo you remember that song Evander used to sing to us?â he asked him.
Oh, Simon remembered it and cringed every time he thought about it.
But the cringe wasn't enough to stop him from singing the song.
âThe Warden and the Captain are sitting in a treeââ
Hugh cringed too. âThat one, yes. Stars, I hate it so muchââ and he pointed to Queen Bee and Cyanide ââLet's make them hate it too. â
Simon seriously tried to take his role as the voice of reason in that situation. He let his imagination (or rather, his anxiety) run wild, making him imagine the thousand and one scenarios in which that specific fight could turn out worse than they usually did if Hugh made that comment. Queen Bee would probably call Hugh a "lesbian" (âYou have a lesbian haircut, honeybun, accept itâ), Cyanide would go crazy trying to find Dread Warden to melt his skin slowly and painfully, everyone would wish death upon everyone, and the only reason the fight would end would be because either Cyanide would finally manage to injure Simon or because Queen Beeâs stilettos would break.
He didn't see how teasing them with an attack worthy of elementary school kids would make the situation worst.
Besides⌠it was going to be hilarious to see that.
He didn't see why he couldn't co-star in Hugh Had Idea and It Went Wrong.
âI'm in,â he replied, trying not to raise his voice too much. âI'm super in.â
Hugh rose his hand and Simon high-fived him quietly. But Hugh seized the opportunity to take his hand, running his finger across his knuckles. âOkay, but you sing the spelling part, becauseââ
âYou don't know how to spell,â Simon interrupted.
Hugh let go of his hand. âWell, when you said it in that tone, it sounds a little mean.â
Simon rolled his eyes and took his hand again. Then the logical part of his brain (yes, the same one that always insisted on being the voice of reason in situations like that) began to yell at him that he should convince Hugh to let Cyanide and Queen Bee did whatever they wanted, while the two of them did whatever they wanted.
But that the logical part of him had no voice in that situation because the logical part of his brain was not the part that loved Hugh. After all, there was nothing logical in loving the way he made a kind of mini-horn with both hands, took a deep breath, and yelled with all his might:
âCYANIDE AND THE QUEEN BEE SITTING IN A TREEââ
Fifth try
Year 20
K-i-s-s-i-n-g.
That was what he wanted to be doing. He wanted to be kissing Simon. He wanted to be with him, walking in the park and watching life go by in front of them. The birds singing from the trees, the children chasing each other, and the wind ruffling their hair. The day was going to be so perfect that he was going to be able to ignore homeless people getting high on corners or young people dealing drugs (that should be) illegal, focusing all his attention on Simon and how happy he felt that this time, everything he was going well.
He didn't want to be crammed into the living room with the rest of his family, listening to the thunder and the rain crashing down on the ceiling.
But apparently, that's what he was doing.
Tamaya was sitting on the floor, covering herself with her wings. Simon had sat on the other end of the three-seater couch, looking out the living room window with a thoughtful expression, worthy of a character in a Shakespearean play or something. Evander was leaning over him and had Kasumi on his lap. She was watching him play (or rather trying to play) a Tetris game that he had on his phone, putting her icy feet on Hugh's arm, probably without realizing it, and Hugh was on the other end of the couch, first starting at Simon, thinking of how handsome he looked when he was thinking, and then at Georgie. She had been smart enough to sit on the reclining sofa, which gave her the space she needed to cuddle with an inconsolable six-year-old Adrian.
âThe storm will end soon,â she was telling him. âThe storm will end soon.â
But that was not enough to comfort Adrian. His mother had already been telling him for about an hour that âthe storm will end soonâ, but the storm just ... did not end. And each time they heard a new thunder, Adrian let out a howl and clung to his mother with more force, asking her to please not go away.
Everyone knew that when Adrian asked Georgie not to go away, he was actually asking everyone not to go away. If any of them left the room, he would probably lose his mind.
He felt the urge to tell him that she wasn't going anywhere. That wasnât very Georgie. Georgie didn't leave people who needed her like that, scared, crying, and begging her to stay. So since Georgie didn't do it, neither did the others.
It is not like they could have gone anywhere though.
Georgie realized that Simon hadn't stopped staring out the window.
âI'm sorry you couldn't do anything special this Valentineâs Day,â she whispered. Simon blinked as if he were waking up from a dream. âWhat did you have planned for this evening?â
Simon turned to see him, disappointed. Hugh decided to answer for him.
âWe were going to have a picnic at the park,â he replied.
Georgie blurted out something that sounded like âAwwwâ, and Evander scoffed.
âThatâs gay.â Hugh put his arm behind Kasumi and smacked Evander on the back of his head. âBRO, YOU LITERALLY MADE LOSE ME.â
Tamaya laughed and Kasumi shook her head. âI want to play tooââ she tried to take the cellphone and Evander pressed it closer to his chest ââVandy.â
Georgie intervened (without letting go of Adrian). âVandy, give Kasumi the phone. Itâs her turn. And then it's mine.â
But Evander didnât want to.Â
âBut it only has ten percent of battery left,â he exclaimed.
âPerfect, it's more than enough for Tamaya, Kasumi, Simon, Hugh, and I to get a turn too.â
âHugh punched me! He does not deserves a turn.â
âI didn't punch him,â Hugh said. âI just hit him very slightly.â
âMy brain almost felt out of my head.â
âDo you still have a brain?â Tamaya asked. Hugh high-fived her. âI've been thinking about that joke for weeks, dude.â
âEvander Wade, share the phone,â Georgia said. âI'm no longer asking.â
âNo! It's my phone.â
Desperate, Tamaya reached out to take Evander's cell phone, and he stood up so fast that Kasumi ended up falling on Tamaya.
âMOTHERFUââ
A thunder. Again.
Adrian started crying. Again.
And they all went silent. Again.
Hugh took advantage of the fact that Evander got out of the coach to move closer to Simon. Evander didn't say anything to him because he was too busy handing the cell phone to Tamaya, who then gave it to Kasumi. Kasumi refused to sit down with Evander again and stayed on the floor with Tamaya (although resting her head on his knees, as if they were a pillow).
Simon rested his head on Hugh's shoulder.
âNext year will be better,â he whispered in his ear. Simon didn't answer him; he only put his hand on the window, leaving the trace of his fingers on it. âAre you all right?â
Simon put his hand on Hughâs waist and pulled him closer to him, closing his eyes for a while. âI'm tiredâŚâ
âRest then.â
After allâŚ
Hugh was tried too.Â
There had never been a day when they didn't have to face a new threat. It seemed that the Anarchists, instead of getting weaker, were getting stronger. Even with the many new allies the Renegades had, no one seemed to have a second of the day to rest. Adrian got more and more nervous when they went out as days passed by, and it was becoming more difficult to calm down him during his tantrums. Even he, who was a child, could feel the tension in the city.
But precisely because of that, because he was a child, he could not understand the enormous responsibility that the Renegades had on his shoulders and that they could not stay with him, no matter how much they wanted to.
Maybe that was why no one had tried to leave the room. It was their way of telling Adrian that they were still there for him.
He was about to fall asleep when Simon pulled him away. His first instinct was to pull him closer, but as soon as he realized that Simon was just standing up, he let go of him.
Suddenly, he looked happier. Much happier than anyone else in that room.
Everyone noticed that change.
âAre you still too tired to celebrate Valentineâs Day?â
Even Hugh didn't understand what he meant.
Evander turned to see Georgie. âGeorgie, you told them no hanky-panky in the house.â
âVandyââ Kasumi intervened.
âZoomie.â
âDon't say hanky-panky.â
âYeah, you sound like a grandma,â Tamaya told him slightly punching him on the leg.
Hugh shushed them. âShhh, guys, let Si talk.â
âNo, go on, guysââ Simon told them ââLet us show you.â
And he held out his hand.
Obviously, Hugh accepted it.
He had no idea what Simon was planning to do, but he wasn't too tired not to celebrate Valentine's.
He was never too tired of him.
Adrian immediately reacted to this. âHey, no, don't go...â he cried, stretching his little arms towards them.
Luckily, Simon looked like he already had that covered.
âWe're not going anywhere, Adrian,â Simon assured him. âYou are coming with us.â
Adrian and Georgie's eyes widened at the same time.Â
âMe?â Adrian asked pointing to himself.
âYou,â Simon replied, confidently. âBut it's a very special mission,â he added in a lower voice, putting a hand on his shoulder. âYou can't tell anyone.â
Adrian rubbed his eyes and Georgie looked up at the ceiling as if she were making sure a new leak hadn't magically appeared. Tamaya, on the contrary, didn't understand, and she stared at the scene, very intrigued by Simon's plan too. Luckily, Georgie noticed it, and with a frantic movement of her hand, told her to stop staring. Hugh made the same move, but this time, directed at Kasumi and Evander.
When Adrian opened his eyes again, everyone but the two of them was pretending they weren't listening to the conversation.
âWhat mission is it?â Adrian asked in a thin voice.
âLook, we can't go out to celebrate Valentine's Day,â Simon explained, âbut what we can do is bring Valentine's Day here with us.â
Adrian looked puzzled.
âHey, but you're going to need a superhero name to be able to participate in the mission,â Hugh commented, trying to get Adrian more interested. âDo you have any ideas?â
Simon scratched his beard, thinking. âHmm, very good question, my dear Captain,â he commented. âMaybeââ
âOh, I know what superhero name I'll have,â Adrian exclaimed, grabbing Simon by the cheeks. âHey, your beard feels funny.â
Simon grabbed him by the cheeks too. âWhatâs your superhero name, then?â
Adrian whispered it in his ear and Simon's face lit up. âIt's a perfect name, Adrian.â
Adrian shushed him. âShh, don't say my real name! I have to use my superhero name, remember? It's a mission.â
Evander scoffed again and Kasumi shushed him immediately.Â
âAnd can he tell me your superhero name?â Hugh asked Adrian.Â
Adrian stopped to think about it. âYes, why not?â he finally replied.
Then, Simon stood slightly on tiptoe to reach him and whispered in his ear the most perfect superhero name he had ever heard.
Sketch.
Hugh took Adrian by surprise when he graved him and carried him in his arms, making him gasp in shock and excitement. Even Georgie started to laugh out loud at her son's reaction.
âReady for the mission, Sketch?â he asked him making his voice lower than it actually was.
Adrian gave a military salute. âI was born ready, Captain!â he exclaimed, moving his feet in the air.
Georgie stood up too. âWhere you taking my son, guys?â she asked dramatically.
Hugh placed Adrian on his shoulders.
âDonât worry, mom,â Adrian told her, âIâll be fine. I need to accomplish this mission.â
Georgie pretended to start sobbing. âNo, but you don't have to, son of mine, you're too young!â
âListen to your mother, kid,â Tamaya intervened. âStay with us, stay safe with your familyââ and she passed her wings over Kasumi's shoulders.
âTamaya has two wings,â Kasumi pointed out. âAnd they're warm.â
âReally?â Evander asked.
But Tamayaâs face changed immediately. âIt's not for you, it's for Adrian.â
âGO WITH THEM, LITTLE SKETCH, GO!â Evander yelled standing up on the sofa. âGO SAVE VALENTINEâS DAY!â
That was enough for Adrian. He kissed his mother on the cheek and told her that he would be back soon. Then the three of them began their journey to the kitchen while the others stayed in the living room.
Simon pulled out a bag of bread from the refrigerator and asked Hugh to pass him the peanut and hazelnut butter jars from the cupboard. Adrian took it upon himself to count the remaining loaves of bread and separate them into pairs, spreading them on the table. Simon encouraged him to count how many pairs there were and Hugh had no problem helping him when he got stuck at number five. Then Simon toasted them on the stove, and he allowed Adrian to pile them up like a tower on a red ceramic plate.
When it was time to make the sandwiches, Simon and Hugh sat at different ends of the table, each holding a butter knife. Simon would spread peanut butter on one of the loaves, Hugh would spread hazelnut on the other, and Adrian would gather them together and wrap them the best he could in a napkin, before putting them in a makeshift basket that Kasumi had made long ago.
âMommy, no!â yelled Adrian when Georgie dared to enter the kitchen. âIt's a secret mission!â
âDonât worry, donât mind me,â she told them pretending not to notice what they were doing. âI'm just gonna prepare myself some strawberry milk.â
As soon as Adrian looked away, Georgie winked at Hugh. And Hugh winked back.
âI think we're done with this mission now,â he replied using that ridiculously deep voice again. âYou have to break the news to the rest of the team, Sketch.â
Adrian jumped out of his chair and practically ran into the living room, holding the basket with sandwiches in his hand.
The three of them had been so into their mission, they didn't realize that the others had put several blankets on the floor and Tamaya was cursing under her breath for being unable to use a lighter to turn on the candles. Kasumi approached Adrian, with a VHS in each of her hands, asking him which movie he would like to see, and Evander came over too, but to try and tell Adrian to pick the action movie, not the romance movie the girls wanted to see.
Simon seemed like he wanted to join the conversation too, but Hugh thought he had done enough. And he meant it in a good way. So he took him by the hand and they lied down on the couch, not caring that perhaps one of the others wanted to sit on it.
Adrian had already chosen the movie (he chose the period drama over the action movie, thankfully) when Georgie walked into the living room with a stack of plastic cups under her arm and a jug half full of strawberry milk, carrying it as it were a trophy. During her birthday, everyone in the house had raised money to buy her a huge pot of strawberry milk powder, which they made her promise that she would not share.
Some promises could not be kept.
The adults got two sandwiches each, but Adrian had practically all of the strawberry milk. Throughout the movie, Kasumi was sighing and muttering how much she wanted to wear a dress like the one the main character wore in the movie during that elegant dinner. From to time, Tamaya frowned and muttered something about how problematic she found a line or scene. Georgie braided their hair and when she finished, she would undo the braid and start over, laughing out loud at Evander's comments about how horrible the romantic interest looked and that he did not understand how that was the ideal of beauty that women had. Adrian fell asleep in Simon's arms about halfway through, and about that exact time, Hugh began to notice that Simon was starting to have a hard time trying to stay awake.
He looked adorable when he was thinking, but he liked it even more how he looked when he was falling asleep.
He kissed the back of his head. âAre you tired?â
He nodded slightly. âYes⌠but never of you.â
Hugh kissed him again. âI was thinking the same thing.â
âWhat thing?â
Georgie turned around for a second and realized that Adrian had fallen asleep. She stopped braiding Evanderâs short hair (for some reason, Evander had let her braid his hair) and sat on the recliner chair, hugging Adrian like a stuffed animal.
She winked at him once more. And Hugh winked back, one more time.
âNothingâ â he laid himself more comfortably on the couch and allowed Simon to get on top of him, resting his head on his chest. ââSleep for a while.â
Simon made no further objection. âYou too.â
Hugh did not fall asleep. In fact, he stayed awake for the three hours the movie lasted, even though by the time the credits started, Tamaya was snoring and Kasumi and Evander were under her wings, rolled up, and cuddled up to her. Georgie ended up falling asleep on the couch, covered in the same blanket Simon used to cover himself a few hours ago.
When the clock told him it was 7 PM, Hugh knew it was time for them to go patrol. However, the rain had gotten even worse, and Simon...
Simon looked so peaceful.
He hadn't realized how deep the bags under his eyes had gotten, nor that his face hadn't looked as relaxed as it looked right now for weeks, because he frowned most of the time. He hadn't held him that close either or had the opportunity to give him as many kisses as he had been doing in that time. Not because he didn't want to, it was just ... well, they had been busy trying not to die.
How tiring it was to try not to die.
He knew Simon was tired because, again, he was tired too, and he bet that the rest of their family felt the same as them. But Simon was the only one who had overcome his tiredness and his moodiness to just... make them forget their sorrows for a moment.Â
He was like that.
Hugh gave him one more kiss on the cheek.
Thank you.Â
If Simon had been awake, he would have asked him "Thanks for what?"
And Hugh would have answered him, "For just being you."
Someday they would get their happy ending. But for the moment, all he wanted was to be crammed into the living room with the rest of his family, listening to the thunder and the rain crashing down on the ceiling.
He doubted that happiness would ever end.
Sixth (but not last) try
Two years after the Day of Triumph.
Just over a year ago, Simon had been on the roof of the same building he was currently in. Of course, it looked very different from how it looked now. It didnât have any windows, no furniture, and, obviously, no electricity. It was the vile shell of what had once been one of the most beautiful skyscrapers in the city. Simon was thinking about that when he realized that he did not have a single memory of having seen that place when it was in its maximum splendor and that the only proof he had of it was the stories of those adults who arrived before him.
That sooner or later, he would become one of those adults. Those who told stories of the past to the generations that came after them.
He thought of Adrian. He thought that there would come a time when he would be curious to know certain things that happened and would ask questions that Simon would not be too sure how to answer. Not precisely because he didn't want to or because he thought he wasn't ready to hear the truth; he just didnât know those truths at all.Â
Why did people change for the worst? How did the world use to be when prodigies werenât divided by heroes or villains?
What happened to Lady Indomitable?
How did the world use to be before she was gone?
Then Simon, with tears in his eyes, looked up at the crescent moon and the six stars lined up in such a way that they seemed to form a smile. He hadnât seen anyone in his family smile for⌠a very long time.Â
Because when Georgia Rawles left, she took with her their capacity to smile.Â
Yet, at that moment, Simon could feel her. He could feel her when he was crying, asking her to please fly again and to help him get down from that skyscraper. He felt her hugging him, keeping him from falling to his knees and cutting his skin with the shattered glass that was on the floor. She promised him that she would never give up on him and assured him that every time he saw the sky, he would find those six stars forming that smile, which from that moment on, would be hers.Â
Simon didn't want her to make promises, but⌠it was Georgie. His Georgie. The Georgie who made pinky promises even though she was about to turn thirty because you were never too old for pinky promises. The Georgie who always protected him and never gave up on him, even though there were times when Simon thought she should.
So since she was his Georgie, Simon accepted the promise. As she turned around and rose again to the sky, he wondered what would happen when the city was so full of light, that the stars (Georgieâs smile) faded away and everyone, including them, forgot about them (about her).Â
But, after all this time, Simon was looking at the stars, on the roof of that same skyscraper that had now been turned into a fancy restaurant, holding Hugh's hand across the table, and noticing that Georgie was still smiling at him from above.
As it always should be.
âDid you ever expect things to turn out like this when you were little?â
He turned to see Hugh again. âWhat things?â
But Hugh kept staring at the stars. Simon didn't care. He liked to think that the sparkle in his blue eyes was due to them. âUs.â
Simon shook his head, âNo,â he answered when he remembered Hugh couldnât look at him. âDid you?â
Finally, Hugh saw him again. âI think that when I was little, I didnât know one could be as happy as I am with you right now.â
Simon rolled his eyes.Â
âI'm serious,â Hugh insisted, taking him just a little tighter by the hand. âI'm so glad we finally made it out.â
Simon leaned forward slightly. âWe really did, huh?â
Then, Hugh gently pulled him closer to him, making their foreheads bump and closing his eyes. âAnd I'm so glad that now, nothing bad is gonna happen to you, to us, and to what we have.â
Simon closed his eyes too. He would have liked to promise Hugh that it would be like that. That this new chapter of their lives, the chapter of getting married, having kids, and rebuilding a city together, was would turn out as well as the last one, when they fought crime, defeated the bad guys, and held hands only when they were not wearing the armors that protected them from the outside world.Â
But he could not promise that. And anyways, Hugh was not very fond of promises. He said they were very easy to break.
So he grabbed his chin and gave him a quick kiss on the lips before saying, âIt's getting late. We should ask for the check.â
Hugh nodded and called a waiter. He noticed that Simon was reaching into his pocket and quickly told him not to do it, that he got it. Simon knew there was nothing he could do to make him change his mind, so he instead just asked if he could get a slice of chocolate cake to go. Adrian would love to have chocolate cake for breakfast. Â
The waiter returned a few moments later with the bill (and Adrianâs chocolate cake). Simon almost winced when he saw the amount of money they had spent on a meal that hadnât been that good in the first place (although he did not know if it was because of the lack of ingredients or because gourmet food kind of sucked). However, Hugh didn't seem at all concerned and reached into his pockets to get his wallet.
Suddenly, he leaned his elbows on the table. âSimon.âÂ
Simon leaned his elbows on the table too. âYes?â
âHave I mentioned you look very handsome tonight?â
He tried to remember. âNo,â he replied. âBut thank you for noticing. I even took a shower.â
âWow,â Hugh exclaimed with too much enthusiasm. âFeeling fancy today.â
âI do feel fancy today,â Simon replied, adjusting the jacket he had put on over his pink button-up shirt at the last moment because Hugh had told him that the restaurant had a pretty rigid dress code.
Simon almost didnât put on the jacket out of pure spite. In fact, he spent all the way ranting about how it was stupid to have such a specific dress code in a place like Gatlon City, and that he bet that the owners of that restaurant, who now were acting like total snobs, had spent most of their lives wearing only a t-shirt and old jeans, like the rest of them.
Hugh, who had been wearing the jacket from the beginning (a blue one), was quiet, listening carefully to what Simon was saying until he blurted out:
âWe can do something else if you want to.â
He didn't say it in an âIâm hurt by your commentâ tone. Instead, he said it the same way he would tell him that they could watch another movie or that they could get take out instead of cooking dinner. He said it as if the reservation he made was not at stake, or as if he hadnât been sending him hints of wanting to go to that specific restaurant since New Year.
Simon knew that if he had said yes, Hugh would have taken him wherever he wanted. However, Simon also knew that it didn't matter where they went. They had spent Valentine's in an alley, at a fair, fighting villains, and in a house too small for seven people. And in all those places, he had a great time.
Surely that place was⌠snobbish, but he could have a great time there too.
After all, they were together.Â
He was sure Hugh knew that too.Â
Hugh nodded, agreeing with him. He hardly ever agreed with someone other than himself anymore.
âIs this your strange way of making me say you look good too?â he asked him then.
And Hughâs smile grew bigger. âSimon Westwood, you are the love of my life,â he replied taking his hand, âand this is my strange way of telling you I forgot my wallet at home.â
Simon laughed so loudly that the other customers turned to see him. But he couldn't care less. He kind of wanted them to saw them. He wanted them to notice how much he was laughing and he wanted them to see him kiss Hugh as he reached for his pocketsâŚ
Oh, no.
âHugh.â
He tensed. âYes, dear husband of mine whoâs going to pay for this dinner?â
âYou look good too.â
That was enough for Hugh to realize that Simon had also left his wallet at the house.
The two remained serious for a long time. But then, Simon could see how Hugh's brain clicked in a very strange way, which made him see this whole situation as the funniest thing that had ever happen to him.
He kissed him once more.
They always managed to ruin their Valentine's Days one way or another, but it didn't matter. Because there was no way they could ruin what the two of them had.
Boy, he would like to see someone try.

Thoughts on the new Asides
Alright, Iâve watched the new video three times at this point and finally have my thoughts together. Also just in case anyone was wondering no.Â
No I did not get breakfast magically delivered to me and had to eat a bowl of cereal.Â
Oh well, thereâs always next time.Â
Anywho, spoilers below if you havenât seen the episode yet I would not recommend reading this.Â
Ready? Letâs go.
So what are my general thoughts here, I loved it. Sure there were some things that didnât make sense to me writing wise but overall this was an adorable, funny episode that provided us with a nice break from all the angst of the main series.Â
Now to get into the nitty gritty.Â
Right off the bat the art for this was just amazing. Honestly the idea to make this episode as an animatic was a brilliant move. Not just because of how things are right now in the world (but we donât wanna think about that) but using this form allows the characters to interact in ways that they canât when filming live. We got to see Roman and Virgil engaging with the world around them and how they interacting with Thomas when heâs not at home. It also gives us an idea of what the world of Sanders Sides is like. Everyone acts a little more cartoony, but it still feels like the real world as well.Â
Also the expressions on the characters, even the background ones, were perfect. You could tell so much from a quick expression or body language and as an animation nerd, I was in love from the get go. Honestly the team should think about utilizing this format more with these Asides as it allows more freedom for the characters which can help aid the story and can be used for comedy. Not saying every episode should be animated, but if they have an idea that they simply canât achieve in live action, they now know that this format works.Â
And now, on to the characters.Â
So this is a Roman and Virgil episode, none of the other Sides make an appearance or are even mentioned. (Well I guess Janus is vaguely referenced with all the talk of lies going around) But I can understand their absence even though I would have loved to see them even briefly like how Remus and Janus were in Are There Healthy Distractions but besides one character (which I will get too later) I didnât really mind and it didnât take away my enjoyment of the episode.Â
As usual, Virgil and Roman have a great dynamic and are hilarious with how they bounce off one another. I do question the timeline of this episode given how relaxed Virgil is around Thomas, considering the last time they were together they werenât on the best footing and he wasnât present at all during Putting Others First. But Iâll probably make another post about that.Â
Starting with Virgil, it was fun seeing him act more like his pre-AA self. Getting onto Thomasâ case about every little thing was both hilarious and way too relatable (like way to call a dude out) and him explaining introvert culture was just *cheffâs kiss* It was nice to him slightly more laid back and worrying about something else other than whether or not Thomas is a good person and keeping a dark secret about his past hidden. Also the ending with him openly celebrating with Thomas and Roman was adorable. Weâve never seen Virgil with his guard down like this, letting himself be genuinely happy in front of the others. He always hides that part of him and seeing him like this just warmed my heart because that means Thomas himself isnât feeling anxious and is allowing himself to enjoy the moment. Sure there are some moments of doubt here and there, but it was overall a great scene and I was glad they gave us a scene with them in the apartment.Â
Now Roman? Oh my gosh I needed an episode where he got his happy ending and it has arrived! Considering the punch to the gut that was POFâs ending I was ecstatic to see Roman finally, finally getting something he wanted. Think about it. Roman recently gave up the callback, which he wanted more than anything, only to have it all blow up in his face and be told that his sacrifice was all for nothing. Like, ouch. But here we see him once again pursuing something he wants, and he actually gets it! He probably thought it was going to be yet another loss for him, all their efforts were for nothing, but it wasnât! Thatâs one thing I love about Roman, no matter how many times he loses he never stops trying. Even when he gets knocked down to his lowest he wonât hesitate to grab the next opportunity that comes his way. And as we can see, that will and determination has paid off.Â
Of course we canât forget about Thomas himself. Heâs so lovable in this, trying to just get through what should be a simple shopping trip at the mall only to have the most minor things continue to interfere with that. We donât ever really see Thomas outside of his apartment so itâs nice to finally have an explanation for that. The focus of this episode though is his attempts to find out more about the handsome stranger across the food court and work up the nerve to talk to him. One of the funniest parts of this episode (in my opinion) is when Thomas comes up with the brilliant idea to use the stickers and pins as a way to start a conversation (which honestly could have been sparked by Logan whoâs had enough of this) only for it to be shot down as a horrible idea because, what else would anxiety tell you? The monologue in the bathroom was another highlight of this episode and just, gosh Thomasâ acting here is just great. Even though we can only hear his voice thereâs just so much emotion put into it. It honestly sounds like heâs crying in some parts and I loved it just as much as the bathroom guy did.Â
And finally, last but certainly not least, we have the wonderful Nico Flores. I did not expect to love him as much as I did but like, my gosh how can you not? Heâs that perfect mix of cool while still being a bit of a dork. Like did he just grab a strangerâs food and wander around looking for them to return it? Had he noticed Thomas go in the bathroom and was just awkwardly standing around waiting for him to come out? His relationship with Thomas is already super cute and I hope that he becomes a recurring character and love interest for Thomas. (Note when I say Thomas I am referring to character!Thomas and not the real Thomas) Seeing as Thomas (now referring to the real one) said this episode would be important to the plot of Sanders Sides, I think itâs safe to assume Nico will be making a return and I for one canât wait to see more of him, along with seeing how his relationship with Thomas develops.Â
If I had anything negative to say about this episode, Iâd have three negative things to say.Â
Iâll start with one that I sorta brought up earlier which regarded the absence of a certain character that just didnât really make sense to me, and that character is Patton. Now for Logan, Janus, and Remus, I can see why they wouldnât be there. Logan doesnât do feelings. Janus and Virgil would be having a hissy fit the entire time. And we all know what Remus would be doing. Not saying none of them could have shown up briefly, but their absence doesnât bother me as much as Pattonâs does.Â
Patton is Thomasâ heart, the core of all his feelings, why wouldnât the heart be present during a time where Thomas is starting to fall in love? He wasnât mentioned or anything! Not even when Roman was literally telling Thomas to speak from the heart. It just rubbed me the wrong way that he wasnât brought up at all and the reason for that has to do with another problem I had with this episode, and that was the choice to have the main thing keeping Thomas from talking to Nico was him being a liar.Â
The episode starts with hitting the audience on the head with this idea that Thomas is struggling with lying. Despite the fact that nothing that happens is really his fault and everything else isnât really a big deal. I just found it odd that this was the thing they were having Virgil and Roman get onto Thomasâ case for considering, well, we already had an episode (multiple really) that have already addressed this. One could say this was a result of Roman and Virgil teaming up and being upset over Janusâ partial acceptance. The reason I donât think this is likely is because Thomas said Virgil finding out about Janus would be a major plot point and I doubt something like that would have happened off screen (honestly the timeline for this video is so confusing)Â
Another reason this bothered me is because Virgil comes to the conclusion that everything that has gone wrong (the rehearsing in the bathroom, the old friend in the food court, the plant, the pretending, the hiding, the god forsaken boiled carrots) are all lies and Thomas canât build a relationship off of lies.Â
But... He literally wasnât doing that?Â
At this point Thomas hasnât even talked to Nico yet. He lied to the guy in the bathroom regarding the monologue (who wouldnât) and he tried to pretend to be a strangerâs friend (which backfired horribly so lesson learned) I donât even know how the plant would be considered a lie (and Virgil was the one who pushed him over there anyway) Iâm not sure what Virgilâs referring to with the pretending and the hiding I can only assume is when they hid in a trashcan (unless Iâm not meant to take that literally) and with the carrots Thomas should have just walked away the moment he saw the rainbow pin on the backpack. That was his fault.
But not once did Thomas lie about anything to Nico. In fact when they finally started talking Thomas was nothing but honest with him, embarrassingly so. The thing Virgil was claiming to be the source of the problem just, wasnât true. It didnât make sense to me and still doesnât even after my third viewing. What I had originally thought was going to happen was that theyâd come to a conclusion that tied into Moving On, the episode where Thomas dealt with the aftermath of a break up with Roman, Virgil, and Patton.Â
Wouldnât that be something theyâd be afraid of? Say Thomas managed to hit it off with this guy. They start dating, everything is going well, only for it to end the same way his last relationship did. Wouldnât it make a little more since for the main thing to be holding Thomas back is the fear of getting his heart broken again? Of losing yet another person he loved?Â
Which brings me back to previous point of Patton not being there. Considering these three were the ones to help Thomas resolve things in Moving On, why shouldnât these three be the ones to be by him when beginning a new relationship?Â
Unless Pattonâs been avoiding these two since currently Virgil is still on rocky ground with Patton and after what happened in POF. But again we have no idea since we donât know when this episode takes place (well as of writing this I have no idea considering how long itâs taken me to write this Thomas may have tweeted about it or something)Â
Another potential reason for Patton not being there is basically what I said earlier. In Moving On he was the one struggling the most since heâs Thomasâ feelings. He could have been overwhelmed by all the emotions Thomas was dealing with and simply couldnât bring himself to show up. This has me hoping that weâll get a follow up Asides episode where we get to see the other sideâs reactions to Nico. If not all of them at least Logan and Patton since itâs been awhile since those two had an episode together.Â
If thatâs the case then I can understand keeping Patton out of this one. But that doesnât change the fact that I find the whole âliesâ thing to be a bit ridiculous.Â
The final thing I have some of an issue with is how Virgil was the one to âsave the dayâ in this. Throughout this episode Virgil was the one causing the problems (which isnât to say anything bad about Virgil itâs literally his job to protect Thomas and that includes protecting him from rejection and heartbreak) while Roman was pushing Thomas to go take a chance. I dunno, this one isnât as big of an issue since I still like the conclusion and Roman calling Virgil brave. It just would have been nice to see Roman going for something and getting it himself. Or at least him and Virgil deciding together that they werenât going to let this opportunity go.Â
I dunno, Iâm kinda impartial on that one. I just want to see Roman succeed.Â
And there you have it. Those are my thoughts. As usual, you may take them with a grain of salt. But also feel free to share your own opinions on this episode. Itâs definitely become a favorite of mine and is up there with my other favorites.Â
Now if youâll excuse me, Iâm going to go be sad because bathroom guy had his hopes and dreams crushed and he deserves justice.Â

Robin Hood episode ranking part 5 (10-1)
Finally, the top 10 of my Robin Hood episode ranking. The previous parts can be found here [link]. If youâve enjoyed and/or hated my commentary or want to chime in with your own opinion, feel free to comment or send me an ask. So here it is, the top 10:
10. 3x4 â Sins of the Father
Watch 1x6 and then this one right after and tell me these arenât the same episode. I fought so hard to get this episode to the top 10. At first I was shocked to find an episode in season 3 that I enjoyed this much, but here we are. This episode has the fun feeling of adventure that a lot of season 2 has. I didnât remember much from this episode before my rewatch, and I was pleasantly surprised. Kate had a lot of potential at this point, and I donât have much to complain about her besides her terrible braid. Tuck was a great therapist, and I enjoyed his scene with Edmund. The reason why I think this episode is a better version of 1x6 is because of the story of the guest characters. The biggest negative thing in this episode is the Much-Kate-Allan love triangle. But aside from that, I truly enjoyed this episode, and I donât care what anyone thinks, this belongs in my top 10.
 9. 2x7 â Show Me The Money
Marian finding out about her fatherâs death is one of the saddest things in the whole series. Allan and Robinâs fight is also amazing. Those two things are the highlights of this episode, and together with everything else in this episode they make this a great and fun adventure. Allan works so well as a bad guy, and itâs almost a shame he didnât get to do this longer. I donât have a lot to say about this episode other than that I really like it.
 8. 1x4 â Parent Hood
In this episode we see for the first time someone dying for Robin. The episode is just very solid, and I originally had this on the number 5 spot on this list. The scene with Roy and his mother is heartbreaking. In this episode the Sheriff is finally becoming the unapologetic villain I love. I wish the fact that Gisborne had a bastard child he almost got killed had been brought up later on. Overall, this episode has always been one of my favorites, and it is the first one from season 1 I included in my rewatch.
 7. 2x11 â Treasure of the Nation
I loved Prince John, so of course Iâm going to love his mother. The queen is a delightful guest character, and she steals any scene sheâs in. The real reason why this episode is this high on the list is Marianâs plotline. I love her and Allanâs interactions in this episode, and itâs great to get the Nightwatchman back after such a long time. Itâs a shame that she had to give that role up, because as I said earlier, this is where a part of her character died. This episode also inspired us to have a conversation about how everyone would act like in an escape room, so it gets a few points for that.
 6. 2x10 â Walkabout
I want to watch a play that is written, directed, and acted by the Sheriff. He is so wonderfully dramatic in this. Unlike in the season 3 finale, in this episode the idea of Nottingham being threatened is executed a lot better. I like how Allan tries to keep every option open for himself. The scene where Much finds out about Robin and Marianâs engagement is so sweet and touching. (In case you havenât figured it out yet, I love Much and want happiness for him.) This episode also highlights well the differences between how each of the characters approach their cause. Itâs obvious that John just wants to do good, but he is unable to view the larger picture. This episode has the right amount of tension, and with a little bit of tweaking, it could have been made into a two-part season finale.
 5. 1x7 â Brothers in Arms
When we were watching this episode, my friend was so tired that after the episode finished, I had to answer the question âWait, was one of them Allanâs brother?â. This episode is the first one where the heroes truly fail, and even though they manage to just save Marian, she still ends up engaged to Gisborne. The scene with Allan and Djaq (and Will, because even though he doesnât speak, heâs there, and it says a lot about their dynamic) is sweet, and it adds a lot to her character. The necklace storyline is intense and keeps the story interesting until the very end. I had not expected this to end up being the best episode of season 1, but then again, there were many surprises when I was making this list.
 4. 2x12 â A Good Day to Die
I love this episode. Itâs rare to get an episode where the characters just sit down and talk about their feelings. Allan has his small crisis and ends up switching sides. Itâs also great to once more see someone punch him in the face. I love the scene where the Sheriff is practicing his speech like any good villain. Will and Djaq are cute, even if their scene is very cheesy. I wish they had gotten together a few episodes earlier or stuck around for season 3, so that we could have seen more of them together and how it affects the rest of the gang. The highlight of this episode, however, is Muchâs speech. The line âjust because I love you doesnât mean I canât hate you tooâ is one of my favorite lines in the whole series. Itâs a shame that Much gets sidelined in season 3. The characters have to face each other and themselves, and it makes this episode stand out.
 3. 2x9 â Lardnerâs Ring
I love this episode. Itâs the best fun adventure episode this series has to offer. The Fool is a wonderful guest character. Where did he come from? What are his motives? It doesnât matter, heâs here for comedy and chaos. Heâs living my ideal life. Robinâs proposal is very in-character and sweet. Thereâs so much comedy in this episode, but it doesnât overshadow the more serious scenes. This episode provided us with a great and frequently used âI hope youâre enjoying it, Allan. I couldnât live with myself if I were youâ WhatsApp-sticker (the line may not be completely accurate since I donât remember how it goes in English). This episode has everything I could want from a Robin Hood -episode. The only reason why it is not on the first or second place is that there are two episodes that are even better.
 2. 2x5 â Ducking and Diving
No placement in this list was as difficult to determine as deciding between the first and second place. After a very long conversation and going back and forth with it many times, this is the end result. Ducking and Diving is a perfect episode. Trying to find the spy is like a round of Among Us. Allanâs conversation with Djaq and final confrontation with Robin are amazing scenes. Robinâs plan of making it seem like the spy is Will confused me back when I first watched the episode, but looking at it now, itâs one of Robinâs better plans. Matilda is also one of the greatest guest characters this show has, I would watch a whole show about just her life. Everything in this episode ties together nicely, and the plot works both in the context of this episode and for the whole series.
 1. 2x4 â Angel of Death
If I could only show one episode of this show to someone in order to convince them to watch the entire series, I would show them Angel of Death. And it is exactly what I did when we started this very chaotic viewing (and rewatch for me). This episode has everything. The plot is amazing, and the characters work well. Joseph is a good character. He reminds me of an academic who is really passionate about one thing in his field, only to find out someone has done research on his thesis topic and disproved his whole theory. I like that John is the one to come up with the cure for the poison. But really, Will is the character that shines in this episode. He didnât get an episode for himself in season 1, so itâs good to see it happen here. He flips completely after seeing his father die, and even though Luke doesnât get a lot of time in this episode, the relationship between the brothers is portrayed well. Allanâs betrayal also gets a body count, which sets up him having to be unmasked in the following episode. On top of all this, the sheriff is just plain evil, which is fun to watch. This episode is just perfect, and at this point Iâve seen it at least three times in the past few months, and I would still watch it again.
So there we go, the full ranking of all RH episodes. This rewatch was my favorite so far, because I got to watch the show with someone who had never seen it before. Iâd like to thank anyone who read this 6000-word essay on a show that ended well over a decade ago. You didnât need to, but you did anyway.
#robin hood bbc#bbc robin hood#rh episode ranking#this is a long one but I wanted top 10 in one post#I fought so hard to get number 10 into top 10#idk what my next rh take will be#I kind of want to rant about s3 some more#anyway if someone's reading this send me your takes on my ranking#I'm starved for attention

Change of Pace - Chapter 1
Pairing: Kristanna
Chapter 1 on AO3
Word Count: 3,292
Summary: With her sisterâs blessing, Anna takes a step back from her royal duties and finds herself working for a ski resort nestled in the mountains. A chance encounter with the resortâs maintenance technician leads them down an unexpected path, as they must work together to plan the resortâs annual ball - and maybe fall in love in the process.
Authorâs Note: Hi everyone! Iâm trying something new here - Iâm not really into writing multi-chap fics because I feel like my brain betrays me and I put it to the side and never look back. However, Iâve already managed to plan out the first 20ish chapters (and have written a ton of it), so Iâm giving it a shot. This idea came to me back in September, when I was flipping through the television channels, and came across the summary for a Hallmark movie. Just from the description, I decided I wanted to write a fic based off of it. I did watch the first half of the movie and got some inspiration from that, too, though the ideas are mostly original. (If anyoneâs interested the movie is called A Winter Princess). Rated T for the foreseeable future, but will eventually be M-rated. Anyway, I hope you enjoy!
In the two months since she had arrived at Valley Ski Resort, Princess Anna of Arendelle hadnât stopped smiling. She greeted each day with a smile, worked with a smile, and whenever she thought about how thrilled she was to be experiencing life away from the castle and Arendelle, she smiled.
If she were being honest, she hadnât stopped smiling since her older sister - and Queen of Arendelle - had approved her proposal of a sabbatical. She remembered the day sheâd asked very clearly, as she was certain that her sister would reject her idea and sheâd be stuck in Arendelle for the foreseeable future. Â
âSoooo,â sheâd started.
âYes?â Elsa had raised a questioning eyebrow.Â
âHow would you say your mood is today?â
âMy mood?âÂ
âThereâs something that I want to ask you, and Iâm not sure how youâre going to react, so Iâm trying to gauge if now is a good time or a bad time.â
Elsa had chuckled. âAnna, you can ask me whatever it is that you have to ask me.â
âOkay,â sheâd breathed. âI wanted to know how youâd feel if I...went away for a while.â
âWent away? To where?â
âI was thinking of taking a sabbatical and finding work in another country - temporarily, of course. Just a few months where I could do something other than mope around the castle. I think it would be good to have some work experience under my belt, especially because your coronation is next year. I want to be able to do more than what Iâve been doing.â
Elsa had nodded. âI see. That makes...sense. Did you have something specific in mind?â
âNot yet,â sheâd confessed. âI wanted to know what you thought about it before I committed to anything specific and got my hopes up.â
âThere are a lot of factors to take into consideration. Your identity and your security are the first things that come to mind. But...as long as youâre back before the coronation, I really donât see the harm in you -â
Before she could finish her sentence, Anna was throwing her arms around her sisters neck. âThank you, thank you, thank you! Youâre the best big sister, ever!â
It was some of the best news sheâd received in her life. Not that her life had been dismal prior to her arrival at Valley Ski Resort, but it was rather...boring. Not boring in the traditional sense, as she had plenty of things to do. Horseback riding in the gardens, reading every romance book she could get her hands on in the library, and practicing piano at twilight. Regardless, her days felt empty, as if something was missing. She selfishly wished for more - travel, new friends, love.Â
So with her sisterâs approval, the arrangements were made. With the exception of the general manager of the resort, her colleagues would remain unaware of her royal status, and would refer to her by her first name rather than by any titles or formalities. Sheâd stay on site, in one of the luxury âcabinsâ that the hotel rented to guests who wanted a more home-y experience, and set off to Valley in September, vastly unprepared for a life so different from the one she was accustomed to, but ready for anything. She had to learn how to do everything on her own; from cooking to cleaning to laundry, but she adapted fairly quickly to her new, ânormalâ routine and fell in love with her job as the assistant event planner for the resort. Two months in, and she was happier than sheâd ever been in her entire life.
This particular morning had started the same as any other. In fact, when she woke up, she had a great feeling about how the day would go. She woke up feeling well rested before her alarm went off, had extra time to put on a little makeup, and was able to stop by the cafĂŠ on the first floor before making it to work with plenty of time to spare.
âGood morning,â she called, upon entering her office. She dropped her bag on the floor before shimmying out of her coat and hanging it on the rack by the door.
âHey! Morning, Anna,â Holly, the administrative assistant, called back.Â
She glanced around and noticed that Holly was the only person there, which was rather unusual. Her boss always made it in before she did. âJennyâs not here yet?â
âNo,â Holly answered, running a hand through her chin length, raven-colored hair. âAnd itâs not like her to be late.â
She scooped her purse off the floor and walked over to her desk. âI know. Maybe she called out today?â
âShe hasnât been answering my calls or texts and I didnât get an email from her.âÂ
âDo you think Bonnie will know?â
âIâm sure she does, but she has more important things to worry about than one person calling out sick.â
âIâll try texting her, too. I hope everythingâs okay.â
âIn the meantime,â Holly started, opening the top drawer of her desk and pulling out a box, âLook at what came in today!â
âAre those the invitations for the ball?â
âThey are! Come look!â
Though sheâd just sat down, she immediately hopped back up and ran over to Hollyâs desk. She peered over her shoulder, at the silver and royal blue invitations. âWow, those are gorgeous.â
ââValley Ski Resort cordially invites you to the twenty-fourth annual ball. Join us on Saturday, February sixth at seven in the evening for dinner, drinks, and dancing,ââ Holly read. âFollowed by the address to the hotel, of course, your extension and email for the RSVP, and the prices per head.â
âTheyâre perfect.â
âAll you have to do now is finalize the guest list, print the name and address stickers, stick âem on and drop âem in the mailbox.â
âThatâs it?â Anna teased.
âAt least you donât have to worry about hand-writing every name and address on five hundred envelopes.â
âIt would give me an excuse to practice my penmanship,â Anna laughed. âMy teachers always said my handwriting could go from neat to illegible in the same paper.â
âI know for a fact that your hand will be tired after sticking that many stickers to the envelopes, so donât get too far ahead of yourself. At least the return address and stamp are already on there.â
âLess work for me,â Anna smiled, picking up the box and carrying it to her desk. âAnd I already have my work cut out for me.â
âJenny is keeping you on your toes, huh?â
She sat down again, finally kicking off her snow boots and switching them for the flats she kept in her bag. âJust a little. I enjoy it though. I like keeping busy.â
âI know you havenât been here very long, but youâre doing great,â Holly said. âWay better than any other assistant Jennyâs ever had.â
âThank you, Holly. I really appreciate that.â
They kept up the small talk as they began their work for the day. As usual, Anna had plenty of emails to respond to and the talking helped to pass the time. A few hours into the day, the office door opened and they both turned around to see if Jenny had finally arrived for her shift. Instead, it was Bonnie, the general manager of the resort. âGood morning, ladies.â
âGood morning, Bonnie,â they responded in unison.
âHowâs the planning for the ball coming along?â
âExcellent,â Anna spoke up. âWe received the invitations this morning. The guest list will be finalized by early next week and the invitations will be sent out by the end of next week.â
âThatâs wonderful,â Bonnie smiled. âNow, Iâm afraid that I have good news and bad news for you both.â
âOh,â Holly murmured, exchanging a worrisome look with Anna.
âIâm afraid that Jenny has resigned, effective immediately,â Bonnie stated matter-of-factly. âThatâs part of the bad news. The good news is for Anna - congratulations, youâve been promoted!â
Her eyes nearly popped out of her head. âI have?âÂ
âOf course! Sure, youâve only been here for two months, but youâve been shadowing Jenny the entire time, you show excellent potential, youâve never been late...I can go on and on, but it was one of the easiest hiring decisions that Iâve had to make in my entire career.â
Anna couldnât help but wonder if she was being promoted out of sheer desperation, or if it was because Bonnie was the only person aware of her royal status and was trying to kiss up to her. âThank you, Bonnie. I hope that I can exceed your expectations.â
âI donât think youâll have any trouble fitting into your new role. Now for the second part of the bad news - unfortunately, there wonât be enough time to hire a new event planning assistant in time for all of the upcoming events, between the Christmas season starting in three weeks, and then the ball the first week of February. Iâm so sorry.â
Anna nodded slowly, trying to process everything that Bonnie had just told her. Not only had she been promoted, but now sheâd have to take on the workload of two people by herself. âIâll do my best.â
âThatâs all I ask,â she remarked. âI know that youâre going to do great. Enjoy the rest of your day, ladies.â
Bonnie swiftly exited the office, and as soon as she was gone, Anna turned to face Holly. âWhat am I going to do?â
Holly stared for a moment, her mouth agape. âI...donât know. This has never happened before.â
âI donât think that I can do this alone! How am I supposed to do this alone?â
âAnna, I genuinely donât know. Iâm as stunned as you are. I mean, Iâll do my best to help you in any way that I can, but I only took this job because it came with a set, part-time schedule. I have a baby at home - I canât be here for all of the events on the calendar.â
âOf course not,â Anna agreed. âThatâs not fair to you or your husband or son.â
âYeah, but this situation isnât fair to you. Bonnie has plenty of time to find a new assistant, I bet sheâs just being lazy.â
âI wonder why Jenny quit so abruptly.â
âI know! Jenny isnât the type of person to do anything abruptly. I hope that sheâs not sick or something.â
A wave of anxiety rolled through Annaâs body and she buried her face in her hands. âWhat am I gonna do?â
âOh sweetie,â Holly cooed. âItâll be alright. Youâll figure it out, I promise.â
Anna exhaled heavily and nodded.Â
âHow about we go over everything we have to do for the rest of the season?â Holly suggested. âI know Jenny normally goes over the events on a week-by-week basis, but it may make you feel better to recall everything youâre dealing with in advance. Kind of like a quiz.â
âOkay,â she agreed. She got up from her desk and paced back and forth across the office; she often did her best thinking as she paced. The office was modest; the three desks were all lined up against the right wall, and the other walls were lined with filing cabinets, a bulletin board, and plants. Lots and lots of plants. Luckily, the plants were Hollyâs responsibility, so Anna didnât have to worry about keeping them alive - something she was sure that sheâd fail at.
âSo the cookie decorating is on the twenty-fourth. Do you remember the game plan for that?â
âYes. We...I have to pick up the cookies at the bakery, bring them to the conference room - which Iâll try to set up in advance - and then sell the cookies until the event is over.â
âDo you remember how much each cookie costs?â
âThree dollars.â
Deciding to distract herself as she and Holly talked, she started to reorganize the bulletin board. A couple of the fliers were outdated, and they could use the extra room for the upcoming events.
âTake down the pictures with Jenny in them while youâre at it,â Holly replied. âAlright, whatâs next?â
She began to collect the many photos of Jenny that had been posted onto the board. A few of them included her, from the events that they had worked on together. It was almost bittersweet to take them down; Jenny was her boss and mentor. They spent forty hours a week together for two months straight, and Jenny had taught her everything that she knew. âUm, thatâs the last event that this office has planned for the month and December is maxed out.â
âWell, what events do we have in December?â
âSo many,â Anna sighed, stacking the photos neatly into a pile. âSanta will be here every night in the lobby. A reindeer petting zoo will be set up outside. A few movie nights and Christmas caroling. On weekends there will be sleigh rides through the woods and hot beverage stands outside. Am I forgetting something?â
âThereâs also going to be a story time and cookie decorating with Santa event on Christmas Eve,â Holly pointed out. âAll of the kids will be wearing their pajamas.â
âOkay.â
âBut other than that, thatâs it.â
âThank god,â Anna breathed, finally collapsing in her office chair and tossing the pile of pictures onto her desk.
âIâm actually really excited for the story time with Santa.â
âAre you bringing your son to that one?â
Holly nodded. âHeâll only be eight months old, but why not? Itâll be adorable.â
âI canât wait to actually see him in person,â Anna smiled. âNow, is there anything that we have to do on Christmas Day or New Years Eve or Day?â
No, not us. Culinary is going to have buffets - like the one theyâre having for Thanksgiving - and then the hotel puts out extra televisions and passes out champagne for New Years. We actually have off on those days.â
âReally? I mean, Christmas Day makes sense, but New Years? Thatâs a little unexpected.â
âWell, we have put most of our energy into planning the ball, and there wouldnât be enough time to throw three huge parties in a month. So, the holidays are ours.â
âIâm so thankful for the person who made that decision,â Anna laughed. âI may wind up here on those days, anyway, though.â
Holly clicked her tongue. âDonât do that - enjoy your extra days off.â
âItâs not like I have anywhere better to be,â she shrugged.
âIâd offer for you to come over on Christmas, but Iâll be with my in-laws in the morning, and my parents at night. Babyâs first Christmas, and all.â
âOh, no I wasnât trying to invite myself or get you to pity me.â
âI know,â Holly nodded. âI just feel bad that youâll be all alone.â
âDonât worry about me. Iâll call my sister, like I always do when I have time off, and then Iâll come here and see whatâs going on.â
âMaybe by then youâll have a boyfriend and heâll invite you to spend Christmas with him,â Holly teased, wiggling her eyebrows.
Anna felt her cheeks warm up at the thought. âChristmas is six weeks from today and I think we both know that thatâs not going to happen. Iâve been here for two months and the dates Iâve been on havenât been great.â
âI donât think youâve been looking in the right places.â
She rolled her eyes. âTo be fair, I came here to work.â
âAnd now you have enough work for two people,â Holly reminded her. âYou should try to have some fun in your free time.â
âI do have fun,â she remarked defensively.
âOh yeah? Tell me what you do for fun.â
âI just got a Netflix account, so Iâve been trying to catch up on all of the shows that Iâve missed over the years.â
Holly cocked her head. âThatâs not fun, thatâs pathetic. Also - watch Greyâs Anatomy.â
âIâll add it to my list. And I donât think that you should judge what I do in my free time when you spend your free time tending to your infant.â
âExactly! I donât have any free time. Iâm trying to live vicariously through you.â
âDonât do that,â Anna laughed. âYouâre only setting yourself up for disappointment.â
âWhat if we set you up on Tinder? Or Bumble?â
âHolly -â
âOoh, I could set you up on a blind date! My husband works in the high school and he has a ton of young, single coworkers.â
âHow about we stop talking about my dating life and finish talking about the rest of the events that are coming up?â
âFine,â Holly groaned, looking down at the calendar. âJanuary is pretty empty. A few movie nights scattered around, and two make-your-own hot chocolate nights.â
âHot chocolate?â
âYeah, the kids get a kick of being able to choose their own toppings and stuff.â
âGotcha,â Anna nodded.
âAnd then the rest of our energy goes to the ball. January is crunch time. Making sure that everyone RSVPâd, making sure the menu is finalized, reaching out to the DJ, et cetera. Itâs going to be a lot.â
âIâll consider myself warned.â
âThatâs the right attitude! Now for February - obviously, the ball is the first thing that month. Thereâs going to be a few events for Valentineâs Day - card and cookie decorating and a carnation sale.â
âCarnations? Why not roses?â
âCarnations are the flower of love,â Holly answered. âAnd theyâre cheaper than roses.â
âYeah, but roses are way more popular,â Anna pointed out. âMaybe we should consider ordering roses this year.â
âIâll look into it,â Holly said, writing it down on her notepad. âNow for March. Easter is the first weekend in April, so the Easter Bunny will be in the lobby for the month. There will be egg hunts and egg decorating - basically, weâll have eggs coming out of our ears - in the week leading up to the holiday.â
âIs that it?â
âWell, we hadnât got that far for this upcoming year, but usually we throw in some cookie decorating, too.â
âOkay, thatâs manageable,â Anna commented.
Holly frowned. âAnd then I believe weâre losing you, after that.â
âYeah, Iâm going home in April,â Anna sighed. âWe can plan a few more events for that month, though. I wonât be leaving until late April.â
Holly smiled. âSo I get a little more time with you than I thought.â
âHopefully Bonnie will find her replacements by then. Or else youâll be doing the work of three people.â
âDonât remind me,â Holly groaned. âI donât want to think of that as being a possibility.â
She wiggled the mouse of her computer and it turned back on. She signed onto her email, hoping to see an explanation from Jenny. Instead, she found an email from the manager of the bakery. She spun around to face her coworker. âLiz just emailed me and said that they were able to specially order the cookie kits that Jenny requested.â
âFinally, some good news today,â Holly remarked. âNot that the news of you being promoted was bad. But it was...a lot.â
âTell me about it,â Anna laughed.
Hollyâs phone rang, then, interrupting their conversation. âHold on just a sec,â she started, before picking it up. âHello, youâve reached the event planning office, this is Holly speaking.â
Anna turned back to her computer and scrolled through her inbox, trying not to eavesdrop on Hollyâs conversation.
âOh, hi Bonnie! How can I help you?â
Bonnie? She glanced back at her coworker, who had a puzzled look on her face.
âIâm sorry...what? Are you kidding?...Okay, weâll be right down,â Holly said, slamming the receiver down and standing up. âCome on, Anna, we have to go.â
âWait, what happened? Where are we going?â

TWICEâs Headcanon: Dating
Request: May I requested dating the girls of TWICE Headcanon, separately please? I really enjoy those and your writing, itâs really good for someone whom just started.
A/N: Thank you so much! I hope you enjoy this one just as much :) I didnât include an NSFW for each girl because it wasnât specified but if you would like one, feel free to send in another request!Â
word count: 6,007
IM NAYEON
she is the sweetest girlfriend ever! she tries her best to be the perfect girlfriend. sometimes, you wonder how you got so lucky.Â
wakes you up by planting tiny kisses all over your face. she always gets super giggly when she sees your sleepy and confused expression.
she makes you take lots and lots of photos when you guys go on dates. theyâre usually photos of her.
although, you arenât really complaining because now you have a whole album full of pretty candid photos of Nayeon. there are also a handful of funny ones that you use for playful blackmail against her.
you usually end up in the middle of her disagreements with Jeongyeon, big or small. when this happens, sheâll expect you to take her side. when you donât, she gets pouty and wonât let you touch her until you take her side.
her laugh is absolutely contagious and you really canât stop yourself from laughing along with her.Â
Nayeon loves to hit you when she laughs really hard so your shoulder is constantly sore from all her smacking.
she keeps a pack of muscle relaxants in her cupboard just for you. although, you canât tell if you should be happy that sheâs trying to take care of you, or annoyed because your shoulder is always sore, to the point where she feels the need to keep muscle relaxant stickers.Â
she LOVES physical affection.Â
when you guys are alone in your room, she becomes a cuddle monster.Â
she doesnât mind displaying PDA but will limit it to hand-holding, hugs, and cheek kisses. anything beyond that stays AT HOME!Â
so many pet names/nicknames! she finds it super cute when couples have pet names and will bother you until you give her one. sometimes her pet names for you will spawn from a funny memory or itâs just something super sweet/basic.Â
âCan you pass me my water bottle, love?â
lots of hitting and smacking when she hears your pet name for her: bunny. you say itâs because of her teeth but she whines that you're not being original enough and that her fans already call her that.Â
is your biggest cheerleader in everything. literally will smother you with compliments and praise.Â
you never doubt how much she loves you. she always makes sure to remind you and is not afraid to show you just how much she loves you.Â
itâs always out of the blue, sometimes for no apparent reason. you can never pinpoint when sheâll say it next but you appreciate it nonetheless.
tons of back hugs.
sometimes you guys will argue due to her stubborn nature, but she will always apologize if itâs her fault and try to make it up to you. in turn, she expects the same from you.Â
if you get mad or annoyed at her, sheâll bring out the aegyo. itâll either be super ridiculous and make you laugh, or super adorable. either way, it always works on you.Â
matching couple outfits. so many matching outfits.
you swear she has a problem and there have been many instances where youâve had to physically hold her back from ordering dozens upon dozens of couple outfits.
âBut itâs so cute!âÂ
she can be unexpectedly protective of you. whenever you get hurt, sheâs the first one by your side. Nayeon can sometimes be overdramatic and will try to call an ambulance when all you did was scrape your knee.
you usually have to calm her down with loads of kisses and reassurance that youâre okay.Â
can also be super jealous if you get too close with the other members. Sana once crawled onto your lap and Nayeon refused to talk to the both of you for days.Â
it's not because sheâs insecure or doesnât trust you, itâs just that she likes to have you to herself. she also likes the feeling of seeing a side of you that others cannot.Â
all you had to do was treat her to a nice dinner date, whereas Sana had to grovel for forgiveness.Â
she smiles and laughs the most around you. the members all approve of you because they can see that you really do make her happy.
restaurant bills are always split because neither of you will let the other pay. the only solution would be to split 50/50.
she sometimes worries about not spending enough time with you. her job makes it difficult for you guys to meet up often. you have to reassure her that you love her and that you guys have all the time in the universe.
after all, you are each otherâs forever. Â
YOO JEONGYEON
although sheâs known for her strong girl crush image, whenever sheâs around you, she becomes a huge softie.
really cannot resist you in anything. if you ask for it, she will give it to you! although itâs mostly just you asking for hugs and kisses
sheâs super protective of you and will literally fight anyone who makes you sad. you like to think of her as a big cuddly bear.Â
she likes to spoil you with gifts!
most of the time, it isnât something super expensive because she knows it can make you a little uncomfortable. but if she travels, she makes sure to bring back a small souvenir for you to keep.Â
âLook! Itâs a bear keychain!âÂ
loads of online shopping together. you have to physically stop her from checking out the hundreds of items in her cart. some of them are absolutely useless.Â
you guys most definitely do not need a new welcome carpet. you already have a dozen of unused ones from previous shopping sprees.
itâs definitely a problem. but you kind of think itâs cute.
she always asks for your opinion when it comes to her hair. if she wants to cut it, sheâll ask you for permission first. you think itâs kind of ridiculous that she keeps asking you so you just tell her to do whatever makes her happy. if she's happy, then you are too.
sheâll blush and grin at your response.Â
after that, sheâd switch up her haircut every couple of months just to surprise you.Â
âI kind of went for a new style this time. How do I look?â
you think sheâs beautiful either way.Â
her reaction to your enthusiastic response is always the same: a shy âthank youâ with a bright smile accompanying it.Â
staying up late with her in the dance practice rooms and encouraging her to keep practicing even though she may get frustrated sometimes.Â
she can be super competitive sometimes and when she gets into the zone, she gets super loud.
truthfully, you had to go out and buy noise-cancelling headphones.
whenever the other members come over, your house becomes a warzone. Jeongyeon gets super excited and basically forgets that you are there as well.
however, when all the other girls leave, Jeongyeon cuddles up to you and you guys spend the rest of the night just in each otherâs arms.
the girls always love to tease Jeongyeon about your relationship. sheâll deny being whipped but youâll tell them stories that show otherwise.Â
sheâll get annoyed that her street cred is being ruined and claim that the girls wonât respect her anymore.Â
âSay one more word and youâre sleeping on the couch tonight!âÂ
âBut I can only fall asleep next to you.â You pout and pull out your famous puppy eyes.
â...Fine.â
âWhipped!â Sana screams. laughter ensues.Â
sheâll be your biggest cheerleader.
when you went into a cafe for your first job interview, she sat in the table behind you guys and threw you encouraging thumbs-ups throughout the interview.Â
she may have also been the one to send multiple plates of âanonymously paid forâ cookies to your table for you and the interviewer to enjoy.Â
needless to say, you got the job!
sheâs not big on PDA and will smack you lightly if you try to do something fishy in public.Â
but at home, she loves getting cheek kisses from you even if she denies it. Sana pouts when she catches wind of this but eventually gets over it.
sheâs practically glued to her phone whenever sheâs away from you. she highly anticipates your texts and will stay up late just to talk to you. 3am conversations always result in some very funny inside jokes.
she wonât outright say that she misses you. instead, sheâll send you a photo of something with the caption:Â âreminded me of youâ.Â
youâve learned to appreciate and love the little things when it comes to her.Â
HIRAI MOMO
you guys actually met through a mutual friend! she had invited you to her birthday dinner where she introduced you to Momo.
you two hit it off right away, bonding over your mutual love for food, and natural dorkiness.Â
of course, you spent the entire night goofing off, trying to impress her and keep her attention on you. you would later find out that she thought it was absolutely adorable.Â
you asked for her number at the end of the dinner and she shyly gave it to you, making you promise to text her the next day. the rest is history!
Momo loves stealing your hoodies, especially if they end up looking big on her. she loves the fact that they always smell like you.Â
More often than not, sheâll end up taking it home and you wonât see it for another week. itâs the main reason why ever since you started dating Momo, youâve managed to lose half of your hoodies.
whenever you tell her that you love her, she always blushes before saying âi love you tooâ back.
most of the time, Momo is the one to initiate physical contact first. it doesnât matter where you guys are or what you are doing, sheâll always try and get as much skin to skin contact with you.Â
this results in a lot of bear hugs and linked arms.
sheâs super soft and gentle with you. whenever you get hurt, she has to resist the urge to start babying you. although youâve told her that you donât really mind it, she still tries to refrain from doing so because she doesnât want to suffocate you.Â
a lot of late-night texting. Momo doesnât really know how to start the conversation first so sheâll just send you something random and hope you reply.Â
she always manages to rope you into dancing with her. whether itâs uncontrolled party dancing, slow dancing, or hip hop, sheâll always try and convince you into dancing with her.
she told you itâs because dancing makes her happy and so do you. therefore, she feels the most joy when the two are combined together.Â
and honestly, how could you refuse to dance with her after sheâs told you that?Â
sheâs actually super shy around her members when youâre around. they love to tease her unstop, especially Jeongyeon and Sana.Â
she always whines whenever this happens and tries to hide her blushing face by burying it into your body, whether itâs your arm, chest, back, neck, etc. Â
youâd never tell her but you secretly love it when she gets teased and thatâs why youâve never once tried to stop the girls from doing so.Â
âStop teasing me or Iâm going to move out of the dorm! Youâll never see me again!â Momo whines.
âOh? Are you going to move in with Y/N instead then?â Jeongyeon wiggles her eyebrows as Momo groans in embarrassment.Â
soooo much eating out together. whenever you have the chance to, you like to take her out to eat. sheâs super appreciative of the fact that you always let her choose where you guys eat.Â
sheâll try and get into your hobbies as well. you guys once went hiking and although she was extremely tired, she never once complained. itâs because she knows how much hiking means to you and she doesnât want to bash on it or make you feel as though sheâs not enjoying it.Â
Momo wants to know everything about you. so, sheâll end up becoming super serious when you let her know about the things that you are passionate about. Â
as long as sheâs spending time with you, it doesnât matter to her what you guys are doing.
so much cuddling. a tremendous amount of cuddling. itâs her favourite thing to do with you.Â
she changes between little spoon and big spoon, depending on what she feels like at the moment.Â
Momo is just the softest girlfriend ever.Â
MINATOZAKI SANA
contrary to popular belief, she actually likes to go slow with her relationships. she doesnât ever want you to feel rushed, so she always takes extra care in making sure that you never feel uncomfortable.
kisses are either super sweet or super passionate. there is no in-between.Â
her favourite way of waking you up in the morning is to place kisses all over your face.
youâll often find her staring at you with a gaze full of wonder and curiosity. when you ask her why sheâll just say that she doesnât think sheâll ever get over the fact that youâre hers. Â
sheâs not afraid to be touchy with you in front of the other members. sometimes a little too touchy. the members usually end up cringing and telling you guys to get a room.
she smiles and laughs the most around you. sometimes you arenât even doing anything and sheâll look at you and smile.
Sana loves it when you call her âbabyâ or âsweetheartâ. she finds it so adorable and her heart flutters every time.Â
itâs usually rare that Sana will get flustered, but around you, sheâs always blushing and can sometimes become timid.
she just loves you way too much.
movie nights always end with her crying in your arms. itâs because she always insists on watching a heartfelt romantic film, even though you keep telling her that sheâll end up in tears.Â
Sana feels too deeply, thatâs just who she is as a person. this means that she loves you more than she could ever describe in words. however, this also means that when you guys fight, sheâs unable to think properly and will become overwhelmed with sorrow.
sheâs usually the first one to apologize, even if you were in the wrong. she just hates fighting with you and wants it to be over as soon as possible.
âCan you please come back to bed? I canât sleep without you in my arms.â
you can also get jealous when sheâs acting too flirty with other people. whenever you bring it up, Sana will understand where you are coming from and will try to be more aware of her actions.
the time that you two spend together is mostly spent cuddling, kissing, or goofing off. sheâs super playful and that only gets amplified when sheâs around you. Â
whenever she can, sheâll drag you to the JYP practice rooms so that you can keep her company as she dances and trains.Â
this usually starts off innocent but when she starts dancing to a sexy routine, you just canât keep your hands off of her. this results in a LOT of making out and the occasional unplanned trip back home.Â
let's just say that the security cameras at JYP have a lot of unnecessary footage of you and Sana in compromising positions.Â
so much aegyo. you are bombarded with aegyo 24/7.
sheâll bring out the aegyo whenever youâve had a bad day because she knows how much you secretly love it.Â
however, sheâs just a naturally cute person. so honestly, aside from the times where she will purposefully exaggerate her cuteness, you basically live with a human aegyo machine.Â
one of her favourite things to do is to go shopping with you. she loves making you flustered when she comes out of the change room with a sexy outfit on.Â
of course, sheâs not allowed in the kitchen because you are seriously afraid she will burn it all down. sheâs too clumsy for her own good.
and because of her clumsiness, she managed to break four plates in the span of two months.Â
although you suppose itâs not too bad since next morning, youâll find a brand new set of plates sitting outside of your front door.
youâll band together with her to tease the other members. theyâll often joke about you being the 10th member of Twice since you end up becoming so close with all of them.
this makes Sana really happy because she loves her members and she also loves you. sheâs always wanted to date someone who gets along well with her members, and ta-da, she found that with you.Â
she tells you that making you her âforeverâ was the easiest thing sheâs ever done.
PARK JIHYO
sheâs honestly such a softie when it comes to you. sheâs so loving and cherishes you so much. when Jihyo is around you, it feels like sheâs found her missing puzzle piece.
sheâs a sucker for romantic gestures, and so your anniversaries are always so well thought out and heartfelt.Â
you still have the poem that she wrote about you! you keep it in your desk drawer. she was so embarrassed when she found out and told you to throw it away.Â
though secretly, she was glad that you kept it.Â
she loves kissing your cheeks and forehead. Hand holding is also super special to her. itâs her favourite form of physical contact.Â
with Jihyo, itâs the little things that matter the most. you donât need to buy her extravagant presents or shower her with expensive dinners. as long as you show through small gestures that you care, sheâll be forever grateful.Â
she never takes you for granted. in fact, sheâll always preach about how she mustâve saved the entire universe in her past life for her to have been so lucky.
youâre the one she rants to when it comes to netizens. sheâll almost always end up in tears and youâll rush forward to comfort her.Â
youâre the only one that she feels comfortable around enough to show her vulnerable side.Â
she tries to make you feel as special as you make her feel. sheâll shower you with compliments and will melt whenever she sees your face light up.
anytime you shower her with your love, sheâll end up paying you back tenfold.
there is nothing in this universe that could keep her away from you. whenever she has time, she always makes sure to spend it with you.
she can sometimes get scared that youâll find her busy schedule too much to handle. as a result, you always have to reassure her that you love her as much as she loves you. and unless she wants you to, you will always stay by her side.
âI choose you, forever and always. You will always be my first and only choice, okay?â
whenever she goes on a diet, youâll go on the same diet with her. you told her that that way, you guys can go through it together. you hope that she knows sheâs never alone. not with you.Â
never with you.
sheâs too embarrassed to say it, but she really appreciates it. it only makes her love for you grow. Â
she especially admires how selfless you can be and really strives to become a girlfriend that you can be proud of.Â
you think itâs a little ridiculous because really, how could you ever not be proud of her?Â
she always pushes herself to be better and will take any of your concerns about the relationship seriously. if you think that you guys arenât spending enough time together, sheâll start planning extra dates with you.
you told her that itâs not necessary to do that but she just waved it off and told you that youâre being ridiculous. youâre the most important thing in her life. of course itâs necessary.Â
âI donât want you to feel neglected. And even though I canât guarantee that you wonât feel that way with others, the least I could do is make sure you donât feel that way with me.âÂ
she loves eating sweets and youâll try to indulge her every time you get your paycheck. itâs become a small ritual and routine for you guys to go out and eat sweets.
eating healthy is super important to her though. she kind of becomes a mother figure and will hound you if you develop unhealthy eating habits.
sheâll wake up earlier than normal and will personally cook you homemade meals as an attempt to get you to stop eating out.
she eventually had to stop because you kept whining about not being able to wake up with her in your arms. and honestly, you looked way too adorable to resist.
that and because her heart skipped a beat when you admitted that you love waking up to the feeling of holding her.Â
you love her and she loves you. thatâs a fact, not an opinion. nothing in this world could ever change that.Â
MYOUI MINA
you guys met at a flower shop. you were picking up some lilies for your mother, and she was ordering some daisies for Chaeyoungâs birthday.
you couldnât help but notice how beautiful she was. thus, you mustered up all your courage and decided to make small talk with her.Â
unexpectedly, you guys had so much fun that when it was time to leave, you found yourself unable to move. she felt much of the same. you guys exchanged numbers and the next day, you picked up a couple of roses on your way to meet up with her.
although sheâs known to be quite shy, she actually becomes super talkative when youâre around.
Mina just finds you so interesting. youâre like a puzzle to her and she desperately wants to solve you. she wants to see the full picture.
during the summer, sheâll sometimes wake you up early in the morning so that you can both take a stroll in the nearby park.Â
she just loves your presence. parks help to bring her peace and she secretly wishes that they do the same for you.
she can become surprisingly protective of you. at first, the members were skeptical of you. after all, they had no idea who you were and what your intentions were.
Mina kept on defending you and shooting down every remark that they made. she insisted that you were a good person.
in the end, she managed to convince them. sheâs extremely strong-willed when it comes to protecting you.
she loves hand-holding. itâs her favourite thing to do with you. it always makes her smile when she sees how perfectly your hands fit together.Â
you are the only one to truly witness the extent of her ballerina abilities. her fans have seen little bits and pieces, but when she truly gets into it, you are always awestruck by her skill.Â
youâre her pillar of support. whenever she isnât feeling well, youâre the first one sheâll call.
she really does depend on you for a lot of things. you have to constantly reassure her that no, she is not a burden to you. and that yes, you love her.Â
her love for you is silent and strong. she doesnât often express it in words. rather, it comes in the form of small gestures.Â
sometimes, youâll come home to a homemade dinner or youâll find small encouraging sticky notes tacked to your laptop screen.Â
itâs almost scary how well she knows and understands you. whenever youâre stressed, she just automatically knows and will bring you some tea.
youâve asked her how she knows, and she just replied with:Â
âGuess you really are my soulmate.âÂ
sheâs such a soft girlfriend.
will have sweater paws even as she plays her video games.Â
you guys play various video games together. to be honest, sometimes youâll purposefully let her win because her entire face lights up when she does.
youâd never tell her that though.Â
never has she ever taken you for granted. she always ensures that you know how much you mean to her.
sheâs so cheesy. most of the time she isnât even trying to be, but you just bring out that side of her.Â
loves super romantic gestures. sheâs never outright told you, but she really does appreciate it when you take the time to plan out a small and special date for the both of you.Â
she cherishes every date that she gets to go on with you.Â
she also has a habit of counting the number of kisses she gets from you every day.Â
âI got 27 yesterday so I should get 27 or more today.â
you think itâs absolutely adorable that your kisses have now turned into a bargaining chip.Â
she likes to whisper âi love youâs. youâve always wondered why, so one day you decided to ask her.
she bashfully told you that if she whispers, it almost feels as though it can stay just between the both of you. it becomes something special, almost like a secret that only the both of you know and understand.Â
her love should only be heard and felt by you, and you only.Â
KIM DAHYUN
you guys are the craziest couple ever.
no joke, whenever youâre invited to the dorm, it somehow manages to become 200% louder.
mostly because Dahyun gets louder when sheâs trying to impress you. which, in retrospect, is probably 24/7.Â
sheâs really playful and likes to tease you a lot. the rest of Twice doesnât even get the chance to tease you guys, Dahyun does all of it already.
âYou know Y/N told me yesterday that-â
âIâm leaving.â
you like to tease her back by watching her old weekly idol videos. that always manages to make her blush.Â
her laugh is so contagious. seriously, itâs your favourite sound in the entire world.Â
sheâs extremely outgoing but becomes even more outgoing when sheâs around you. not to mention, sheâs absolutely won over all your friends. theyâve threatened to break your legs if you ever hurt her.
which is unfair because a) theyâre your friends and b) you would never dream of hurting her. ever.
she really is like a small ball of sunshine. sheâs just naturally cute, but whenever you point it out, she likes to exaggerate it by drowning you with her dramatic aegyo moves.
when she gets serious though, she gets serious. this usually happens when you guys get into a small argument or disagreement.
sheâll try and isolate herself so that she can sort through her own feelings first before she blows up on you. when she comes out though, she turns into another person completely.Â
you arenât allowed to leave until you two fix the issue. you were extremely surprised when it first happened.
underneath all her smiles, sheâs actually a really thoughtful and mature individual.Â
she always puts your needs above hers. although, itâs usually through small unnoticeable gestures.Â
she doesnât mind that you donât know half of the time. the only thing that matters to her is that you are happy and well.
due to her pale skin, she actually blushes really easily. whenever you say something sweet or romantic, her entire face will turn red.Â
you think itâs cute but she sees it as a complete betrayal.
âMy body has betrayed its owner!â
her skin is just super soft in general. you donât know how she manages to get it that way but wow, itâs so soft.
how you found out? well, thatâs a story for another time.Â
sheâs so energetic. not really in the mornings, but when afternoon hits, sheâs vibrating like a generator.Â
Dahyun really does manage to brighten your days.Â
whenever you get sick, she becomes your very own personalized nurse. she will also search up puns and jokes to try and lighten up your mood.Â
they really are bad jokes but you laugh because theyâre from her.
also because she put a lot of effort into finding the jokes and memorizing them.Â
her kisses are usually pretty short and sweet. she likes to keep the making out to the confines of your own home. PDA just is not her thing.
your text chats are filled with inside jokes. sheâs somehow funnier over text. maybe itâs because there's a lot of emoticons to choose from, but she always manages to pick the perfect one.
sheâs doesnât really mind what you guys do when you hang out. as long as sheâs with you, anything is fine.Â
soooo cheesy. Dahyun is loaded with cheesy, and sometimes cringy, pickup lines.Â
âOUCH!â
âDayhun! Are you okay?â
âWoah. I think I fell for you again.â
âIâm never talking to you ever again.â
for some reason, she loves it when you call her baby. she will get extremely flustered and will give you a peck on the cheek as a reward.
itâs honestly the easiest way to get her to kiss you.
at the end of every day, sheâll send you a small heart. itâs become a ritual for you guys even though youâre still not too sure how it started in the first place.
she really has a knack for making you feel special.Â
she truly does love you to infinity and back.Â
SON CHAEYOUNG
she actually approached you first and made the first move.Â
so many cute artistic dates. she keeps mini canvases stored in her closet just for you.
you only recently found out that she has a whole notebook dedicated to little sketches of you.Â
sheâll get little bouts of inspiration. and when she does, sheâll grab her notebook and sketch you performing your every day tasks.Â
youâre still annoyed that you never noticed.
whenever she travels, whether its for vacation or for a concert, sheâll always bring back cute little trinkets for you.
itâs gotten to the point where you have a small drawer full of key chains, plastic flowers, toy cars, etc.Â
she has sweater paws 24/7 and you think itâs absolutely adorable.
a lot of the time you guys spend together is either spent in silence, just enjoying each otherâs company, or in absolute chaos.Â
sheâs becomes an A list comedian around you. Chaeyoung somehow manages to memorize an entire set of jokes and will tell you one every day.
seriously so cute though. you love making her smile and will stop at nothing to get a laugh out of her.
sometimes a small snort will escape if she laughs hard enough. thatâs when youâll know you have accomplished your mission.Â
sheâll tie her hair up in ridiculous hairstyles and will always ask for your opinion.
âHow does this look?â
âChae I love you but you look like a clown.â
âThatâs the point!â
before she dyes her hair, sheâll ask you which colour you would like to see on her. your opinion actually matters a lot to her.
post-concert celebratory dinners are almost always spent with you. most of the time, sheâll be the one to pay because she wants you to save up your money.
sheâs super independent and doesnât like to rely on you for too much. however, when things get tough, you are the first person she will go to for help and comfort.
she doesnât really mind PDA. in fact, in some cases she will welcome it. she thinks itâs perfectly normal to show affection for her significant other.Â
this results in a lot of cuddling, hand holding, and kissing around her members.Â
they always tease her about how sheâs basically whipped for you. she wonât say anything in retaliation because she knows itâs true, but she will definitely throw the nearest pillow at them.
Jihyo was the most skeptical of you at first. Chaeyoung is like her little sister and she didnât want her to get hurt, especially since this would be her first relationship.
you ended up getting interrogated by Jihyo, but unsurprisingly, you passed with flying colours.
when Chaeyoung found out about this, she wouldnât stop pouting. for the next couple of days, she ignored Jihyo as a way to show her disappointment in her elderâs behaviour.Â
you had to calm her down and tell her that there was nothing wrong with what Jihyo did. you werenât mad and you guys actually had a really pleasant conversation together.
after that, Chaeyoung stopped ignoring Jihyo.
you got a basket of wagyu the next day, coupled with a card that was signed with J.Â
Chaeyoung can be so protective of you. if anyone hurt you, she would get super quiet. thatâs how you would know that she was angry.
she would take steps towards ensuring that they would never be able to hurt you again. this usually meant utilizing her various idol connections to her advantage.Â
when you guys had a fight, which was rarely ever, she wouldnât exactly blow up on you. instead, she would be really levelheaded while trying to solve the issue.
she hates it when you guys fight and sometimes sheâll end up in tears. she can be really sensitive around you and she doesnât ever like it when you raise your voice.Â
so many cheek and forehead kisses. however, because of her height, theyâre only ever done when both of you are sitting down.
she gets embarrassed extremely easily. her entire face, up until the tip of her ears, will flush red.Â
a lot of tickle fights will ensue. she loves being playful with you.Â
she genuinely is at her happiest when sheâs with you. Â
CHOU TZUYU
at first, you totally thought she hated you.Â
you met Twice at a company event and she completely ignored and avoided you. you tried multiple times to try and talk to her but she always stared blankly at you.
eventually you gave up trying.
in reality, she was just too shy to try and talk to you. Tzuyu was absolutely stunned by how gorgeous/handsome she thought you were. whenever you were around her, she would freeze up.Â
when the end of the night neared, she kept whining about how cute she thought you were. Jeongyeon eventually got fed up and asked for your number in place of Tzuyu.
thatâs how you guys started talking.
sheâs usually pretty quiet but she gets super excited around you.
she likes to go on small picnic dates with you. you guys would take turns planning it out, and at first, you guys would bring foods that the other person liked most.Â
after a dozen or so picnic dates, you guys just started to bring weird and wacky food that the other persons never tried before.
the surprise element was what kept it interesting for Tzuyu.Â
you most definitely got smacked for bringing fried scorpions once.Â
sheâll rope you into starting a very extensive skincare routine with her. it has a total of 15 steps, lasting around 45 minutes.
whenever her mother sends her new skincare products, you suddenly become her guinea pig. Â
âStay still! Youâll get wrinkles if you keep moving.â
at first, she was really awkward when it came to physical affection. she was never one for cuddling, but once you guys started dating, it quickly became one of her favourite activities.Â
sheâs a really innocent person. you had to explain a lot of... things to her.
sometimes sheâll just sit and stare at you for no reason other than the fact that she loves you.Â
you never pegged her as someone who was into romantic gestures, but she manages to prove you wrong.
for your anniversaries, she always goes full out. she usually spends 2 weeks planning the event beforehand.
when it comes to you, sheâs incredibly patient and understanding.Â
if you guys canât see each other, sheâs perfectly content with just video calling. to her, just feeling your presence is more than enough.Â
although, when you guys are together, kissing is definitely a bonus.
you passed the âGucciâ test.
aka if Gucci likes you or not.
to her, it is highly imperative that Gucci likes you. after all, Gucci is one of her best friends.Â
every once in a while, youâll bring Gucci some dog treats. youâve also brought a couple pieces of dog clothing that you bought online. Tzuyu always appreciates the fact that youâre making an effort to show love to her dog as well.Â
when you guys are at the dorm, she likes to spend half of the time with the girls, and the other half with you in her room.
she values personal space a lot so sometimes she will need a little bit of time off to herself. however, youâre the only person she doesnât feel the need to distance herself from.
in fact, youâre the only person whoâs allowed to enter her room without her permission first.Â
sheâs so appreciative of you. she notices every little thing that you do for her and will silently melt inside.Â
Tzuyu just loves how attentive you are when it comes to her.Â
whenever she sings âOne in a Millionâ, she always thinks about you.Â
You really are her soulmate.Â

college!au seulgi
request: elli!! can u please do a college gf au with seulgi? i think we could all use that cute fluffiness right now 𤧠p.s. thank u for sharing ur wonderful writing ilu đ
major: business w/ a concentration in human resources management
minor: dance
club: prob vp of the schoolâs women in business club!!! she joined in the middle of her sophomore year and became vp in junior!
sheâs most likely been an RA in her sophomore or junior for the upperclassmen
she was in it for the door decs before realizing she actually liked it lOL
originally was a bio major and was stressed about it, but switched to business after being an RA because she thought it was her calling???
it just fit a lot better and she didnât have to stand there hunched over her lab work and worry about accidentally breathing in pathogens
she had declared a bio major because the plan was to go to med school if all else fails and she didnât really know what else to do, so that was a safe option right?
never before had she been so relieved to find out that she actually really liked spending time in her business and management classes and leading her volunteer group and being an RA
she also now has an excuse to dress up super nicely for interviews and such because she had so many outfits in her closet but never got a chance to wear them out
she became so much more at ease and bubbly about it too
no more sitting in lecture halls having to recite the functions of B-cells or whatnot
it also helped to have sat down with her ARD irene who told her she might like business
it was a long process of convincing because most of it was spent trying not to keep gossiping about the other RAs on campus alfsdlknfmsdlgkn
afterwards she quits reslife so she can focus on other stuff and lives in an apartment near campus her senior year
she becomes pretty popular around campus for her happy personality and her calm energy to match, making it so easy to start a conversation with her or just hang out
seulgi will be studying somewhere in a common student area and previous residents or club mates or classmates will wave to her or stop by for a quick chat
sheâs also normally p busy tho being the vp of the wib club and also making sure sheâs updating her resume and leaving time on the weekends to volunteer at the animal shelter like she loves
and also making sure she isnât spending too much on online shopping for clothes and oOPS HER FINGER SLIPPED AND NOW SHE HAS LIKE TWO TOPS AND A PAIR OF OVERALLS ON THE WAYÂ
but she often doesnât have a lot of time to spend with her friends unless they plan it like a MONTH beforehand since sheâs been applying and interviewing for countless internships
she was just so excited to find something that sheâs super passionate about instead of biology and she kind of overloads herself on that energy akfsldgnskjgn
so of course when her friends invite her to parties or kickbacks she has to decline because she has to make the next powerpoint presentation for the club meeting and also make sure the clubâs end of semester dinner is being all squared away
seulgiâs a busybody and enjoys what she does, so much that she doesnât realize that she keeps overloading her schedule and not giving a lot of time for just herself
which usually means she also spends a lot of time cramming everything at once and might end up passing out at a friendâs place during a study session, in the middle of club meetings, or even in the library late at night
thatâs just how she spent her thursday nightÂ
she had been setting up a speech for her recruitment and selection class and had been so tired from her club meeting a couple hours before that she ended up falling asleep in the library
it was kind of cute since she had hairs slipping from her bun, some coffee stains on her sweater, ink all over her hand from notes, candy wrappers spread around her area, and her head was tipped back and her mouth wide open as she slept
okay............ not that cute
she was a mess
but it was enough for her to get startled awake by a longboard rolling across the room and hitting her chair leg quite hard
she didnât know what happened at first and checked around only to find a somewhat empty library save the couple of students also diligently working
her laptop she left open was dead and she cursed because she didnât save her speech and her phone was below 10%, but it was enough to tell her that it was like 3am in the morning
seulgi only noticed the skateboard because she was going to go to the bathroom to freshen up and almost slipped on it when her foot landed on the top
she caught herself and saw that there was a bottle of water and a granola bar and a note on it
âhey, you look like you need a little refresher. i also had a spare charger in case you needed it, your laptop has been open the past hourâ
sure enough there was a charger but it had been knocked to the floor after she slipped on the longboard
silently, seulgi placed the items on the table with the rest of her stuff and looked around for anyone who would have given her the stuff
except nobody was popping their head up and were all busy
plus they all had chargers with them so she didnât know who would have given her the treats
nonetheless she opened the water bottle and felt replenished when the water hit her throat
she was so confused????? still?????
she decided to take her trip to the bathroom like she wanted to and maybe she could scope out whoever decided to give her the food and drink while she was at it
subtlety wasnât exactly her forte either since she was craning her neck around every table and making the other students confused
eventually seulgi makes it to the bathroom and cleans herself up and when she comes back the longboard is gone and her laptop was charged for her and a new note lays on top of it?????
who???????
âi had to go for the night, sorry about that! donât worry about the charger, i have another one and iâll just collect this one when i bump into you again :)â
and just like that seulgi was completely and utterly confused
she stays like that for the next two weeks or so, seeing no sign of anyone with the same longboard and she tries not to pounce at every person she sees riding one to class
it gets so bad that the prez asked if she was okay and getting enough sleep since she was so distracted during her meetings and if she called the caterer for the dinner yet asgGNSGDN
her friends sooyoung and yerim were also trying to use this as an advantage for her to get invited out to âclear her mindâ as they say since sheâs been so out of it lately
and theyâre absolutely elated when seulgi agrees and decides to go because why not?? sheâs been so stressed about finding this mystery person because she wanted to properly thank them... but also to get the laptop charger with hello kitty stickers all over it back to its owner
and also did they see she had drool running down her chin bc that was really embarrassing and she just wants to make sure if anyone saw that before she promptly packs her bags a moves to another country
sheâs blushing at that donât point it out or else itâll get worse amsdlknsg
once theyâre actually inside, she canât help but look for any longboards by the door even though most of the people at the party came by on foot or by someoneâs car since the house was relatively close to campus
sooyoung and yerim are basically pushing her further into the house as they chatter excitedly and theyâre happy it isnât a byob type of party
seulgi is basically saying she wonât drink that much because sheâll look after the two and let them go ham... for a bit..
but theyâre basically like
âseulgi itâs fridaaaaay itâs fineâ
âyeah! besides we know the house owner and can call joohyun if we anythingâ
and theyâre both going âpleeeeeeeeaaaaaseâ and doing their best to yell it over the loud music
and before seulgi can deny any longer sheâs turned to the kitchen thatâs been blocked by a foldable table and thereâs cup lining it and drinks all over on the counters
but sheâs not distracted by the abundance of drinks and people surrounding it.........
she finds you smiling cheekily at her
âwhat can i get you?â
and seulgi starts sputtering over her words and she REALLY cannot get a single word out because oh my gosh who are you and are you single because UHHHHHHH her brain is going overload
and both sooyoung and yerim are already cackling at seulgiâs stunned silence and giving each other mischievous looks behind seulgi while she malfunctions
meanwhile youâre just drinking it all up with an amused smile and gleam in your eyes and oh god do you HAVE to lean against the counter like that?
seulgi can barely get a word out before youâre laughing a little and turning around to prepare three red solo cups
you pass the cups to sooyoung and yerim and they basically BOLT away to leave seulgi all alone and more importantly alone wITH YOU SOMEONE SAVE HER
you laugh at her red cheeks that shine from the kitchen lights behind you and seulgi is absolutely enamored by you at this moment
âdonât worry, i gave them more fruit juice than i did alcohol. theyâll be fineâ
seulgi barely registers this and gapes like a fish to where her friends are dancing and drinking from whatever you prepared them
had she been paying proper attention like she normally does, sheâs notice that yes you basically watered down the alcohol with some lemonade
âi know how crazy those two can get after a couple parties with them, so iâm making sure they donât go overboardâ
seulgi only watches as you take her cup and put it under the sink to give her water
she takes it an tries not to get giddy when your fingers brush
inner seulgi facepalms because sheâs acting like she has a crush in high school
but sheâs never felt this way since she switched majors???
and omg that feeling was so addicting exhibit a when seulgi overloads her schedule and now??? she just met you and canât get enough already
âthank youâ she practically inwardly screams when she realizes how meek she is but you only give her a friendly smile
âyeah! thought you could use a little refresher. i didnât know if you wanted anything so i didnât want to give you anything you wouldnât feel pressured to drink. let me know if you need anything else!â
all seulgi does for the rest of the night is basically hang around the room and watch everyone get kind of crazy and make sure sooyoung and yerim are staying on their feet, but with a second set of eyes she actually feels like she has more freedom
especially since you stopped giving them alcohol and basically have been serving them just juice after they started getting past the bit of tipsiness
eventually seulgi has enough of just standing around and has had enough cups of water (she had maybe 3) to finally talk to you
before sheâd been working up the courage to talk to you and had come back with a refilled cup of water but noW???
NOW???
sheâs ready
at least she hopes
seulgiâs marching up to you and then sooyoung is at her arm whining and sort of falling over
seulgi manages to catch her and is p disoriented by everything like what is happening is she okay??
and sooyoung is just like
âseulgiiiiiiiii i wanna go hoooome, can we get burgers?â
and before she can ask where yerim went, she suddenly pops up and joins in
âburgers? i heard burgers can we go, i was fooooodâ
before she knows it sheâs dragged out of the house by the two and basically walking them home a couple blocks away
and now seulgiâs bummed that she didnât get to finally talk to you like she wanted
she doesnât even know when sheâll be able to see you again since she didnât get your name at all and sheâd be mortified by all the teasing the younger two would give her since they knew how choked up she was if she asks them who you were
sheâs even kind of sulking about it and sheâs so caught up in it she gets a notification from her phone that she needs to finalize things with the caterer and reserve one of the areas on campus for the clubâs dinner and that reminds her she needs to shop
but as sheâs on her phone she nearly swerves into somebody and it shocks her enough to bring her back to reality and she moves to apologize to the person and all of a sudden
âoh hey! you again, fancy seeing you!â
and sheâs now forgotten everything since she sees you smiling at her
this time she forces herself to find her voice and not embarrass herself and itâs like her interview persona comes in and sheâs got that natural confidence oozing in and she beams that pretty smile of hers right back at you
âand you too! i never thought iâd run into you againâ
you laugh and all of a sudden youâre like an inch shorter and seulgi looks down and spots that youâd been riding a longboard before almost crashing into her
and she recognizes that longboard with all of the sanrio stickers on it and is that a sicker of your face with some filter on the corner of it???
but she recognizes the longboard since itâs been engraved in her mind and it just clicks for her and suddenly seulgi is scrambling to pull her backpack from behind and you just watch on like
uh r u okay? are you good? pls donât take out some random textbook and smack me over the head with it
the hello kitty covered charger sheâs been saving in her backpack is suddenly thrust into her hands and you think sheâs about to stumble her words again like in those anime love confession scenes but sheâs almost aggressive with it????
âiâve been keeping this in my backpack for a few weeks! i didnât even know what you looked like so i had no clue how to find you, do you know how stressed out you made me? youâve been on my mind for almost a month!â
she doesnât even realize how her words sound until youâre responding back in kind with another one of those easy smiles of yours
âsorry, iâve been meaning to catch you sooner but iâve so many labs back to backâ you look at your phone and bite your lip nervously, something seulgi is a little too focused on âi actually have one in like five minutes, thatâs why i almost crashed into you...â
seulgi finally realizes youâre wearing a white lab coat, something youâd worn in preparation since you were already rushing to be on time
your phone is thrust into her hands with the empty contact already loaded upÂ
seulgi quickly types in her number and even snaps a cute profile photo of her and itâs your turn to be stunned by her because wow that was an impromptu photo and hOW DID SHE MAKE IT SO GOOD????
and then seulgi is ushering you off because you have like thREE MINUTES BEFORE LAB and youâre like OH YEAH UH BYE!!!! IâLL CALL YOU????
and she shouts back with a âYOU BETTER!!â
and suddenly seulgi gets a phone call and when she picks up she can hear the wind rushing past the speaker and youâre kind of breathy since youâre reaLLY using those leg muscles to PUSH to that lab
âyEaH so UH i wanted to tell you but i didnât get the chance since i donât want to have to do a makeup lab??? bUT UH, i saw one of your dance performances last year and thought you were really cute!!â
seulgi vaguely remembers that because she had done a solo dance for a showcase in the performing arts department and it was basically for the students to show off what they were working on and to her it was just a homework assignment on top of like four labs and a research paper
âoh yeah! i remember that... well not really, iâd been so busy that it all just flew byâ
âyeah! that was around the time you were a bio major, right? iâd been meaning to talk to you then, but i wasnât able to since you switch majors afterwards!â
âah, bio as well?â
she hears your voice echo and she knows youâve entered the building by now
relief floods her system that she didnât keep you too longÂ
ânah, iâm a chem major. it translates pretty well to mixing drinks, huh?â
instead of getting embarrassed and recounting that previous experience at the party, seulgiâs business confidence is suRGING and i mean IT IS LARGO and sheâs like
âi canât really say. youâve only made me water, so iâll have to see another time?â
at this point youâre absolutely vibrating with excitement at the proposal of a date and you quickly accept
and thatâS WHAT HAPPENED BUT YOU SPENT IT OVER A HOMEMADE DINNER WITH WINE AND SEULGI COULD NOT HAVE BEEN MORE IMPRESSED?!?!?!?!?
youâd cooked it all and brought it to her apartment since you said your housemates were hosting some study session so you just offered to bring it all over
sheâs also shocked you managed to find time to do all of this given the busy stem major life and how she was struggling before
but sheâs also mentioning that giving her one cup of wine doesnât mean thatâs mixing up a drink so youâll have to do this again
and it happens aGAIN when youâre at a restaurant this time and itâs a pretty nice one near campus and yâall are just chatting away about seulgiâs women in business club dinner and she invites you to be her plus one aSDFKNSLF sHE MAY HAVE BEEN TOO SHY TO SAY DATE BUT YOU GOT THE MESSAGE
bUT AT THE SAME TIME the restaurant is the one making the drinks, so youâll have to have her over again and mix something up
and sooyoung and yerim and just so distraught lIKE GO OUT ALREADY
and seulgiâs like we are?????? WE ARE????? WE ARE GOING ON DATES AND STUFF
but they just groan out and are about to storm up to in the middle of a lab and just hand seulgi over like
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE JUST CALL HER YOUR GIRLFRIEND ALREADY
when you finally do itâs funny because itâs at another party that sooyoung and yerim invite her to and youâre there mixing it up again but she didnât realize that the first party where she met you was your house????
sheâs hanging out with you in the kitchen and youâve made her a cup of something sweet and seulgi has to admit that it is pretty good
and you just wink at her saying that your chemistry skills are actually pretty good
BUT THE CHEMISTRY BETWEEN THE TWO OF YOU IS EVEN BETTER HEHEHE
and youâre totally not just hanging out in the kitchen away from the sweaty dancing crowd and sticky floor youâre having your housemates clean up since youâre the drink master
and yOU ARE ABSOLUTELY NOT STEALING KISSES FROM EACH OTHER WHILE SEULGIâS SITTING ON THE COUNTER AND YOUâRE PRETENDING TO REACH AROUND HER FOR A BOTTLE BUT NO INSTEAD YOUâRE REACHING FOR HER WAIST AND HOLDING HER CLOSE AS YOU KISS HER AND NOW YOUâRE SMILING AGAINST EACH OTHERâS LIPS
you spend late nights in the library together now and youâre also most of seulgiâs impulse control when it comes to making plans and doing stuff
mainly because youâre telling her that no-no do not force yourself to go to that resume workshop youâve been to them enough times to LEAD those
and then she gets all excited like REALLY DO YOU THINK THEYâD LET ME?!?!?!
and youâre like no stOP WEâRE STAYING IN FOR A MOVIE NIGHT AND WATCHING CARS 2
but itâs also funny to see seulgi falling asleep against your shoulder and her mouth is hanging wide open and youâve set so many pictures of her like that as your homescreen and been yelled at too many times to change it
and when you do change it, itâs just a different picture of her in that position from a different day
she likes to run through her speeches and presentations with you and you find it so cool that sheâs so poised when doing that BUt she gets so shy when she wants a kiss but doesnât want to say so and SHE KNOWS you know she wants a kiss
youâre constantly doing her buns for her since youâve had some practice keeping your own hair out of your face for labs but also getting tips from other girls in your labs and lectures and when they find out the reason why theyâre just like pLS YOU TWO GET MARRIED
but the closest they can see the two of you dress up together is when seulgi decides to wear her business clothes out on a date and youâve gotten stuff to match her and now youâre basically a ceo power couple walking around campus to go return some books to the library
you sitting in on her meetings and watching with lovestruck eyes as she basically spends the good half of it also staring right back at you and when theyâre in discussion or activities she just clings to your side and cuddles you
you teach her how to longboard and sheâs still a little wobbly but itâs SO CUTE when sheâs fearfully holding onto your hands and staring down at her feet and shouting at you to NOT LET GO AT ANY COST
eventually she gives up on that and buys a pair of rollerblades instead so you can just pull her around while she hangs onto your backpack strings while you move on the longboard
BUT WHAT MAKES EVERYONE JEALOUS???
you hold her hand instead :)
sheâs just laughing and giggling and being all around smiley when your hands are linked and youâre rolling around campus with her in tow
you even go to all of her dance events as well!!!
sheâs been able to put a lot more effort into them since switching majors, but especially since you manage to keep her rooted and not going off doing so many things at once
she also wants to make sure she looks good for you
when does she not though??
yâall are literally tooth rotting sweet for each other
itâs the absolute cutest thing and you totally didnât put a sticker of her sleeping face with her mouth open on your longboard........ and on your charger...... and the laptop........ and hers.... -q- zzZZZ

Kodomo No Omochaâs Sticker Album Highlights (Merlin, 2001, Italian)
Let's keep talking about retro japanese cartoons, shall we? I've done some posts lately in which I reviewed Game Boy games based on comics or animations from Japan, with the intention of covering series that I either used to watch as a kid or recall being popular during the GB and GBC eras. A lot of these games have never been released outside Japan, so it's also an occasion to gather up some imports and see what Italy has missed on. There's actually a particular cartoon I wanted to talk about since the start of this research, but unfortunately it seems it has never recieved any videogame adaptation. But hey, this is my blog, and I can talk about whatever I want! >:C Also I suddenly remembered my Fandom tag has been created purposely for non-gaming objects. >.> So, let's look at some stickers while I tell you the tale of Rossana.
Rossana can be best described as the soap opera that spawned a second wave of nipponic hysteria among every single italian person under 20 during the very last period of the 90s. It's like The Bold And The Beautiful looked at Pokèmon and said "yeah, I want something like that.". Its popularity hit even harder my personal view of the world as the plot starts with the protagonists attending the last year of elementary school... which is exactly what me and my friends were doing, multiplying the relatable factor tenfold. This cartoon took everyone by their necks since its first episode: it was broadcasted on what was, at the time, the best and most popular italian channel for children entertainment, and heavily advertised before starting, so we knew exactly when to tune in to catch it. The day after the first episode, school looked like a different place. Everyone in class was chanting the opening at the top of their lungs; boys were acting like the male protagonists, all girls mimicked the main role Rossana, the more artisticly inclined ones started doodling the characters anywhere possible, including textbooks and homework. Teachers were in tears. I had watched the first episode and found it amusing enough to keep me entertained, so for some period I fully partecipated in the general enjoyment of the cartoon. Then, I started missing episodes (when you missed something on TV during the 90s... it was gone!) and upon returning to it, I found the plot had become much more complex and centered on sentimental intrigues, of which I never gave a toss about, so I jumped off the hype train while others still followed it until the end.
As it is usual for these productions, Rossana was another anime based on a manga series; the original work is titled "Kodomo No Omocha" (which literally means "Children's Plaything"... yeah, I too find it a tad creepy), drawn by mangaka Miho Obana and serialized by Ribon from 1994 to 1998. It tells the story of Rossana Kurata, a child actress (an idol in the original story) trying to balance her career with a normal kid's life by going to school and having normal friends: however, her class is anything but normal and she finds herself often fighting against the biggest bully of the school group, Hayama (translated as Heric in italian). As the story progresses, though, Sana understands Heric's complex and at times completely inappropriate attitude is a result of a troubled childhood, having lost his mother at birth and being bullied by his older sister and completely ignored by his father. Willing to help him out, Sana befriends him and starts to develop even deeper feelings, also sharing her own troubled past: she had been actually abandoned as a newborn and adopted by Misako, a famous writer. New characters are introduced along the way, among which the child actor Charles, Sana's schoolmate but also colleague which the girl will work alongside during a trip to the States, and Funny, an extremely extroverted kid that will at first become close friends with Sana, but that will, at some point, steal Heric's heart, leaving Sana to deal with heartbreak and jealousy. Despite the story being drawn in an energetic shojo style and the episodes showing many hysterical/demential jokes along the way, Kodomo No Omocha is a dramatic story centered on overcoming past secrets, venomous feelings, and describing the difficult shift from childhood to adolescence.
The original 10 manga volumes got adapted for animation in 102 episodes, which broadcasted on TV Tokyo from 1996 to 1998. In Italy, the anime got imported first with the direct title "Rossana": it was aired in its entirety during all of the year 2000, and yes, all the 102 episodes got translated! Unfortunately, the channel wanted to make Rossana completely targetable to little kids, which meant that many plot elements had to undergo heavy censorship. The result was a comedy/demential series that at times showed a sentimental route, and for the rest felt very cut, like it was hiding something. This was no Chou Gals!-styled localizaion effort: scenes were edited or completely deleted, names and terms translated losing all context, graphics and objects concerning japanese culture got zoomed out, some episodes even aired randomly without following the original order, and finally the ending got cut, leaving it as an open cliffhanger. Kodomo No Omocha is, originally, marketed towards an adolescent audience, but kids are a much more profitable target, so a lot of the original plot points went away: Sana no longer thinks of Rei (her adult manager, called Robby in italian) as his boyfriend; it's never mentioned that her actual mother abandoned her in a park after giving birth at only 14 years old; and many instances in which some kids (Heric, but also Komori in later eps) practice self-harm or have suicidal thoughts are cut in their entirety. And yet, despite this general mangling, the story managed to become popular anyway, gaining three reruns, some video distribution on VHS and DVD (both cut, for unknown reasons, after the 20th episode), and an opening with lyrics that will never leave the minds of an entire generation. The manga got translated only after 2002, getting marketed instead for its actual audience and going for a literal translation of its original title: "Il giocattolo dei bambini - Rossana" got published by Dynit in its entirety, however I'm not sure wether it underwent the same censorship measures of the cartoon or it was left to a more faithful state.
The hype about Rossana was interestingly lacking of any substantial, original merchandise imported from their origin country; instead, every gadget we had about the anime was produced by italian companies and it consisted in the usual cheapish stuff sold in order to cash a quick buck on popular media. We had school supplies such as bags, pencil cases and diaries, decorated stationary, and the never-missing sticker album. This last merchandise, aptly featured in this post, is what I remember most since everyone was trading doubles at school; the blindingly hot pink package has also burned a permanent image in my mind. Published by Merlin in 2001, Rossana's abundantly pink album could contain 204 stickers; be them glossy, holographic, single or combined, it adds up as quite a large selection considering that all images shown were nothing more than screenshots of the cartoon, with album pages filling up a description of episodes shown, or giving a little more insight on the general plot. At least my previously reviewed Pokèmon album showed interesting action poses by Sugimori and doubled up as a Pokèdex, but I do recognize the latter can count on a much more substantial franchise. What Rossana's album excels in, though, is its value; remember when I said a completed Pokèmon album was only worth a few bucks? Well, a completed Rossana album goes instead for nothing less than a hundred euros on secondhand markets. Even the single stickers, if sold in lots, can become a pretty penny, and still sealed booster packs can range from 30 to 70 euros depending on how many you're selling. I can already picture italian readers going through their cupboards to see if they still have this relic intact! As for me, I was too focused on Pokèmon during that period to care about filling up another sticker album, so I had completely skipped that. And no, I'm not gonna spend 100+ euros on an album just to make a Fandom post: what you're seeing here are all images collectors have shown to the net.
It's interesting to notice that Merlin tried to cash in on the anime's popularity even beyond the sticker album itself, by advertising even among the album pages an upcoming periodical (monthly I suppose?) magazine almost all centered on the cartoon, but trying to double up as a typical girls' magazine with pictures of boybands, various articles, and the always present and equally emberassing mail section. For some reason I have very vivid flashbacks of me going through the pages of the first volume: probably some friend brought it at school, they had it lying about at their house, or I may have bought it along with other girls then left it to them. This mag was nothing particular and doomed to be shortlived: you can't keep a single anime series relevant forever, and it was apparent that arguments tried to always pull Rossana into context when in reality it had nothing to do with the articles. It seemingly disappeared after its second issue, and got buried under the sheer abundance of more relevant girly mags, among which the legendary Cioè.
All in all, Rossanaâs shout of livelyhood was probably short, but loud enough to have shook the heart and soul of many of us, especially in this country. Itâs apparent that companies wanted to keep the profit margin as high as possible by not importing any substantial japanese gadget about Sana and opting instead for printed publications or cheapy stationery; however, apart from dolls, plushes and general toys, even Japan didnât seem too keen on releasing actually peculiar stuff dedicated to the franchise. The most technological gimmick I found is a toy audio recorder, of which I can only find a few images online and not even one single listing so I can get and review it. Maybe Iâm just sour no one ever thought about doing a Game Boy adaptation, because Iâm sure it wouldâve been a major hit among girls here. Oh well, canât change the past... but surely you can remember it. :)
