Thinking about the Hangman hmmmm, specifically about how much he likes Fabian‘s friends.

His favourite is definitely Fig, Fig would be cool as shit even without being the Archdevil of Rebellion but she is. He respects her a lot and like, look how happy he was when he realised Fig was doing the Shrimp Jump rather than Kristen.

His second favourite is Gorgug I think? Gorgug's the great wizard who saved him :D plucked his soul back from hell and all :D Also, after Sophmore year he definitely starts working on the Hangman regularly. Fabian has his magic mending wax for minor problems, but if the Hangman gets banged up badly Gorgug takes care of it. Having an artificer friend when your mount is a bike most of the time is pretty practical. I unfortunately don't think he ever manages to make him a mechanical stomach and asshole so he can shit on people, BUT I do think Gorgug would tinker on bike form Hangman and give him some upgrades. Like, maybe special engine that lets him do a weaker version of his Hound form fire breath? Fun stuff.

Now, the other two were canon compliant this one is all me but I do think he comes around liking Riz. Fabian himself said the ball grows on you. At first he really thinks Riz is a loser and he does so for years, but being Fabian's best friend (or. more depends on your headcanons) means he's probably around the Hangman a lot whether he likes it or not. Plus, while he probably doesn't openly admit that he likes Riz he will not deny that the four feet tall loser hipster kid jumping on some enemy guy from the shadows and then tearing the skin off his face with his fury is pretty metal. Respectable if nothing else. Did hiss at devils in hell. Pretty cool. Can't fault his master for liking this guy.

He thinks Adaine is pretty cool but not that cool. I don't think he has much of an opinion on her but he certainly respects someone who can throw a high level fire ball at your face. He likes that she scratches behind his ears in hound form (though he loudly complains about how he's not cute). He does not complain when Adaine wants to ride him, unlike with Kristen. Kristen, like, it's not that he dislikes Kristen he has just seen her fall on her face with her negative three dexterity and would be embarrassed if she mounted him outside of battle (where it's necessary and he's learned not to be picky). I don't have much else to say on the girls? Idk.

Other than the Bad Kids he definitely is fond of Ragh because he's a strong dude bro and close friend of Fabian, however he'd probably prefer if Ragh didn't get on him because he moves too much and probably leaves food stains lmao. THATS when he triggers.

I agree that we need more soft and feminine female characters, but to put down another woman just to show love for another isn’t okay. That post didn’t even say anything about Gwyn or ships, but she still got brought up.

E/riel’s say all these thing that they want for Elain, but then they try to make her a spy or a warrior. They constantly change her plot/arc and personality and characteristics just to fit Azriel’s. Make fanart of her with weapons, in leathers, and covered in blood. Complain how we “hate” Elain for being more soft and feminine, but from what I’ve seen, most Gwynriel’s strongly support Elain being soft and feminine. They support that she likes to bake and garden. They’re not trying to change everything about her character to fit a man. It’s like E/riel’s take one small thing that someone might’ve said a long time ago and just run with it, on and on and on.

I’ve seen antis say that SJM made Gwyn’s character to try and not be like other girls. The quirky, cool girl (but now they’re trying to say Elain is like Alice Cullen who is quirky/weird?), how she’s childish & immature because she gets excited, and squeals/makes high pitched noises, and likes to make friendship bracelets. Gwyn made an excited sound because Cassian told her that he knew the former Valkyries personally. It’s normal to make certain sounds when you’re excited about something. And the bracelets were a way to honor her sister who was killed in front of her. Gwyn is rediscovering joy and happiness after being severely traumatized. I don’t see how Gwyn is childish at all. I think the only reason why they’re anti Gwyn is because she’s a love interest for Azriel and that’s just sad. It’s fine if you don’t like a character, but if the only reason you don’t like a character is because she’s a potential love interest, then that’s embarrassing and sad. Sometimes I feel unsafe to voice opinions and love for certain characters. This fandom doesn’t feel welcoming anymore. It honestly makes me really sad.

I’m re-reading the last chapter and I’ve just got to say I really like how you write Vegas’ character. Forgive me if I don’t explain this correctly but I believe the original character of Vegas (and the Vegas portrayed in most ff) is very much only interested in being in control and a Dom when it comes to sex with Pete. (Maybe I’m wrong and this is just the Vegas portrayal I tend to see). But in yours he is very into the idea of Pete taking on that role and whilst I’m sure he would love to do do the same to Pete he knows that’s not really an option atm because of their past. But what I love with your writing of Vegas is that you haven’t changed his whole personality because of this. Idk if it makes sense but soooo often when I read a ff of the characters switching this dynamic it’s like their whole personality changes with it! But no, your Vegas is still absolutely mad and I love it😂

I hope that makes sense but if not all you need to know is I love your writing and I looooove how you write Vegas’ and Pete’s personalities and the reasons why they act the way they do!

Hey anon!! Thank you!! Ohhh that’s really interesting!! Tbh I’ve only read a handful of fic about them and I’ve never actually read the original book so mostly all of the decisions I’ve made have been tv show vibes ✨ that I’ve interpreted from the characters.

I didn’t really think that I was doing something that different for him character wise lol I mean took one look at that man being an absolute loser causing problems for everyone else on purpose and just thought hmm that’s someone who is absolutely desperate for love and would be fiercely insane unhinged about it and here we are!!! Lol

Also just comparitively between him and Pete in the show- Pete has a distinct steadiness/ confidence to him that Vegas doesn’t appear to have imo. Or at least Vegas displays it like a game, wears a mask of confidence but defs comes across as emotionally and mentally insecure in a way that Pete doesnt. He strikes me as the one who needs love wayyyyy more than Pete to the point that he’s absolutely feral about it and these kind of character traits seemed to lend very easily (at least to me) towards Vegas being at Pete’s mercy in a lot of ways and Pete being the steady one who wants to take care of him. So yes that comes across in their sexual dynamic too.

But tbh I guess I also just love the concept of Vegas completely ignoring Pete in the beginning/ kind of writing him off as a non entity when he was trying to get Porsches attention only to absolutely lose his mind over him now. To not even be able to exist without Pete after he first dismissed him. I just especially think that turnabout is neat ahahahha.

Especially because it’s a lot more fun turning the typical class differential/power dynamic between them completely on its head then playing into what felt to me at times like the very one dimensional character Vegas was acting as. Like it’s very easy to write him off as a psychopath little raincoat murder boy who is willing to go to any lengths to get what he wants because he’s the villain of the story.

It’s 100% more interesting to me that he fucked around and found out and is now entirely swept up in his feelings and desire for Pete as a consequence of that and now he’s fully prepared to submit to Pete instead. To now be willing to do anything in order to keep him. So showing Vegas as a much more complex person and actually a painfully insecure and fucked up one who can’t believe that Pete might actually genuinely like him just came very naturally in this story. That kind of dynamic is much more spicy to me than it would be if it was simply Vegas sleeping with an adjacent subordinate and domming Pete because he likes to be in control. It feels more like a subversion of the serial killer/psychopath/mafia boss tropes to play around with Vegas’ submission to Pete than it would the other way around.

And tbh I think if it was the other way around I’m not sure I would find their dynamic so interesting esp because Pete starts off in such a powerless place in this story- so for him to still be in that position or dynamic obviously wouldn’t be good for Pete re his trauma- but it also allows for less of a shifting/ growing sexual dynamic that’s also running parallel to their own advancing relationship and growing feelings for each other too.

But yes I do hope I haven’t strayed too far from his personality in playing all of this out and I’m glad that you like what I’ve come up with!! It’s not about putting a character in a position where they do something that doesn’t make sense or reflect their personality or actions it’s about twisting the characters thoughts and feelings etc and their circumstances so there’s no other justifiable way for them to behave that really makes writing complex characters fun!

No you totally make sense! And it’s really great to hear peoples different perspectives and their experiences in the same fandom because we’re not all going to think the same about all of these things. It’s all such a wild ride! And truly fascinating to me how people interpret characters differently!!

it would be really hard for any of the games to knock 0 out of the top for a lot of reasons but this game put in a very strong effort and deserves its place. reasoning:

loved the intro cinematic

loved the soundtrack (favorites: Glee, Funny, WHISKEY & RHAPSODY aka this game's "tense theme" omfg i could go on about this song it's SO GOOD, Rebellions (hard to appreciate it in the moment because saito is really fucking annoying but now that i'm listening to it on its own it's really good), and the ones that played during the one-by-one quad-boss fights at the end, also the song that played in the credits)

loved the karaoke also. ak!y4ma/hana's duet was beautiful and m4chine gun k!ss was a blast

LOVED the characters. every single guy was a banger. i loved ak!y4ma's mix of silly and serious and his general disposition and coolness and his backstory, i loved sa3j!ma's strong-silent-gentle archetyping and the way he was written and getting to know more about him during his part and i also loved how we got to know more about m4jima (my favorite as we all know) by extension, i LOOOOOVED t4nimura i thought it was so funny how after having a bunch of strong and virtuous protagonists we had a beat cop who gambled on the clock and took hush money from local businesses AND i loved how it turned out he was actually a good guy supporting the immigrants and i loooved his little character arc of basically growing up (being the youngest protag) and standing up for morals and for his dad and himself and stuff he was awesome, and then k!ryu obviously is just really cool everyone loves him. i liked the side guys too, especially kido, i love young scrappy characters like that, and also minami, he was such a weirdo and very classic m4jima family vibe so i liked him a lot, and also nair her training was hard but i loved her theme song and her side story arc

LOVED the story. it was a bit reminiscent of 0 in terms of having all the protagonists interlinked but obviously that's harder to do with 4 guys than it is with 2 so i admire how well everything ended up threading together and, even though i forgot a lot of things in between play sessions, i really enjoyed how each part slowly added more info while also retracing previous info and adding detail or clarifying questions that hadn't been answered yet. it was sooooo coooool seeing the same characters from another character's pov (lily-chan/murderer vs. sister vs. girl who knows things vs. girl looking for saejima, for example) and getting little callbacks and going "OHHH I REMEMBER!!!" honestly i just really enjoyed the whole thing from start to finish here

also loved how the protagonists got to bump into and even FIGHT each other, MULTIPLE TIMES, before the finale, and then at the end they all just hung out in the bar like "yo i can go do an errand if you want" that was very cute and it was fun running into them and going "hey i know you!"

also i liked s4ejima getting to be a patriarch at the end and m4jima being there that was very beautiful i'm really happy for him

i don't fuck with h4m4zaki because of what he did in y3 (you traumatize my daughter i traumatize YOU!!!!!!) but i was glad to see him become more of a good guy before he died. that was nice

LOVED (some of) the substories. the main one i remember is the floriography one where takashi is like "i need to know who my dad is!" and the florist makes him do a bunch of shit with the other protagonists as a test, i figured out what was going on like halfway through t4nimura's dialogue and i loved it lol. i kind of hope we see them again in the future since the substory was left a bit open ended with takashi seeming to figure out the truth but then we don't know what he does after that...

liked the gameplay, chase sequences were easy but not too easy, fights were easy but not too easy, LOOOOOVED getting to play 4 different fighting styles and work out the best way to make things happen with each one. my only complaint/regret is that i didn't really get the full potential of t4nimura's style until his boss fight at the very end when i was parrying the bodyguard guys left and right and smacking them every time they had their backs turned to me and felt like a beast, if i'd known he could do that/known how to do that earlier i would've enjoyed it even more. also i liked how everyone kind of had their own special area, mostly with s4ej!ma having the sewers and t4nimura having little asia but even ak!y4ma had his finance office and k!ryu briefly had okinawa so i thought that was a lot of fun. also i liked how you could go on the roofs and underground, the city felt more explorable which was a lot of fun :3 also i thought it was cool as fuck that you get to chase a guy on a boat

did NOT like: i wanted to play pachinko but the game never let me. that was annoying

what i'm looking forward to in 5: more m4jima/s4ejima (i'm not expecting a ton - actually i kind of am because sae is a protagonist i'm pretty sure - but i do know there's a scene where they eat bbq and i'm really looking forward to it i want to see them hang out i want to know what their relationship is like i want to know EVERYTHING they are very special to me), more ak!y4ma, playing as h4ruka (girl protagonist!!!!), ak!y4ma's karaoke (i already listened to his b4ka mit4i like 72 times and i'm soooo excited to hear it ingame), i'm also skimming the guide and it seems like there's a lot of good side content so i might take this game slow and enjoy myself like i did with 0. don't know about the hostesses, i've skipped them in every game past k1wami but it looks like every guy only has one girl instead of 72 so maybe i'll hang out with them this time...? i see a LOT of interesting minigames listed in there which makes me excited cause one of the reasons 0 is kind of perpetually my favorite is because the minigames were just tooooo good in that game and k1, k2, 3, and 4's side stuff have never been able to beat 0's for me so now i'm curious to see if 5 will be able to...

I think 47 (somehow the easiest right now) has discovered baking for himself. We see an option in the safehouse with lots and lots of bread - so much bread that I wondered if he doesn't supply a bakery on the side. I also think he has kept the hobby (maybe he just loooooves bread ❤️)

I think Diana used the time to do something more for herself. Finally read the books that were usually just lying around gathering dust. Using the bath additive that had actually expired a year ago but smelled so good but never got used. Catch up on a few series that are now 10 years old but have been recommended to her so often. Maybe there was even a (online) watch date here and there with 47, because he probably had a lot of series to catch up on too. But unlike 47, she kept her self-care to a minimum after covid. Not because she doesn't want to continue, but because everyday life has taken her back.

Probably not much has changed for Olivia, lmao She's a hacker, she hardly ever left the house anyway; she was probably more annoyed that so many people are now permanently online as well. Maybe she has discovered knitting for herself eventually. Or crocheting. So that she can make her own things. But I'm sure she would have learned to do that at some point regardless of the lockdown (“those Etsy products are so cute, but surely I can make them myself!”)

Lucas is soooo hard to judge. It sounds harsh, but I don't think the man has any hobbies 💔 Buying guns, trading guns, cleaning guns. Researching on the internet, reading bad news, smoking a lot, passing out in between and calling it sleep, working out and when he's bored and the intrusive thoughts come back, drinking alcohol. But I think AFTER Providence he will find himself. And I think he would meditate. Find inner peace. It doesn't always work, but it helps him to organize himself. He would certainly keep that up after lockdown. Even if it's not always easy to do it in everyday life.

But what do you think??? It's such an interesting question!

Although tbh they probably didn't stay in lockdown lol - I can well imagine how 47 still went out every day wearing a mask Or Covid won't just hit him like it does to normal people, he's a super human after all

In trying to figure out what to say I realised that I don't really think about what I want to write before words are going down!! I just sort of thought, "Oh, people like Rose, I should write something with him sneezing or I'll just keep writing Cactus."

And like, I thought about how his sneezes are so so different to Cac's, and how attentive Cactus is, despite how aloof he seems.

When I first started writing it, I actually had no idea what was making Rose sneeze, I just wanted his smaller, more rapid ones to be the... 'star of the show'????????? ?????? What a weird concept

I did consider it being allergies, but for allergies ,,, idk, I personally feel like I need a setup? I don't know if that makes any sense at all. I want to know what they're allergic to and I sort of need them to be around it for a build up (ha) before anything can happen, I can't just cold-open (ha!!) like I can with a cold???

It's like a... 'hehe... Look... Here's an allergen... And look, this character has no idea... Hehehehe.... How will they interact, hm?? Tee hee tee hee'

Surely other writers also understand,,, you just write and then the characters chat away of their own accord. I can't control these two any more than I can control my friends.

It's fun to play with the differences in how characters react to the same thing (getting sick) and how their partner character reacts (to the person who is sick) it drives me crazyyyyyy I love themmmm ...

ALSO isn't it fun to have a fet character snz and deal with a non-fet character (who doesn't know about it) reacting to that? I LOOOOOVE embarrassing and bullying Rose it's one of my favourite pastimes....
