Baby Honey (3.5)
Tumblr media
in which Y/N is maybe not that oblivious, Harry is miserable and everyone is still confused...
[Warning- Harry being an atrocious rage inducing idiot, birthday party, arguing, jealousy, crying, ANGST, abusive parent, mommy issues, a child]
Masterlist \\ Part 3 ig
It was like all the puzzle pieces fell into place. Your head snapped towards your mom and you shook your head violently. "Mom No! You can't do this"
She rubbed her forehead a bit while you and Rohan stood there looking at their respective parents with scrunched-up faces. Your mom suddenly stood up and grabbed your forearm, dragging you out of the room.
"Mom you're hurting me" You tried to get out of her hold but she just tightened it more and yanked you near the stairs.
"Listen to me you brat. I thought I might be a bit generous and introduce you to him but I shouldn't have cause you have to be selfish. Can't you see anyone happy but yourself?" She pushed you back, your back hitting the wall.
"Mom Rohan is my ex, my ex! If you two got married he will be my" You gagged at the thought, "My stepbrother" You said. You tried, you really did to make her see what you were trying to make her understand but she never wanted to.
"I don't care!" She whisper shouts, "you were both like what 13? no one cares about dating at that age." She said clenching her jaw. She took a step near you and you took a step back scared she will hit you.
She got hold of your jaw, fingers digging into your cheeks, "There is no 'if we are getting married' we will get married. Now you will go to your room and stay there until dinner. There is no need of you here" She said leaving your jaw. She fixed her dress and straightened her posture took a deep breath and went back inside.
You heard a concerned voice ask something and you knew who it was. You went to your room upstairs and locked yourself in. You didn't knew how long you stayed in bed staring at the ceiling but it was long enough that you heard your mom's signature flirty laugh and then goodbyes.
The room was slowly dimming as the sun sat. All of the lights in your room were off. A single window near the desk of your tiny room was the only light source.
You felt like a teenager all over again, laying on the bed refusing to talk to your mom after an argument. Usually, during those times your dad would come up to you with your favorite food and talk to you.
No one comes up now.
You sometimes thought about why he left. Did he not care enough? Were you not good enough for him to fight for? Your mom fought for your sister's custody but your dad never did anything.
You didn't even realize you were silently crying until your phone chimed and you couldn't see anything. It was Harry who had messaged you which made you cry harder cause all you wanted was to pack your bags and run back to him. You didn't care about anything other than wanting him to hold you at that point.
You opened the message it was a picture of Flynn snuggled into Harry's chest but what caught your eye was the dark green jumper he was wearing. It was yours. Another message came and you had to remind yourself it was dangerous driving back at this time.
H: He doesn't go to sleep unless I wear your clothes. He misses you :(
You thought he was being cruel, the whole world was being cruel. Flynn was your weakness, he knew that. There were times when he would call you Flynn's mom and your heart would skip a beat. God, you wanted him so bad.
You: I miss him too :(
H: Only him?
You left him at seen.
There was a knock on your bedroom door. Reluctantly you got up from your bed and unlocked the door seeing Bella standing there with dinner.
"I knew your stubborn ass wouldn't come downstairs so I brought food up" She said pushing past you. She laid down multiple napkins on the bed and then put down the plate.
You closed the door and walked back to bed. She sat down in front of you and removed the plate, "Pasta?" You looked up knowing damn well your mom didn't make it.
"Mum made fish by accident so, I made pasta for you and I knew it would lift your grumpy mood" She said flicking your nose cutely. You pouted as smile threatened on your lips.
Truth was Bella had to make pasta cause their mom didn't even knew you were allergic to fish. She many times asked her why she didn't bother about you at the end of day you were her daughter, what could you have possibly done? Answer was nothing.
It was always the same answer by her, "I can't see her as mine, can't connect with her". It hurt her to see you, her little sister go through everything you had to go
She fed you while you scrolled through Netflix trying to select a movie. "Ohh let's watch twilight again" You said excitedly clapping your hands. "Not that please, I think I have watched it million times" Bella groaned.
"You sound exactly like H." You said rolling your eyes and laughing, "He gets so dramatic whenever I suggest watching twilight but then he sits there not removing his eyes off the scre-" You cut yourself off when you realized what you were saying. The laughter died down and the feeling crept back up.
Bella sighed and put aside the half-empty plate. She took both of your hands in hers squeezing them, you looked up at her through your lashes.
"Talk to me" She said. "What about? I'm fine" You scoffed taking your hands out of her hold but she didn't budge.
"Y/N" She warned, "Come one, let's start with the thing in front of us. What was that in the morning?" She pressed you more to talk.
"It was nothing! I just said it's fucking weird to have your ex as stepbrother" You said loudly making her flinch for a second.
"I think we both know you can't give two shits about Rohan being your "stepbrother"." She rolled her eyes making you pout more like a petulant child.
"He was my first kiss alright. It's weird" You said sounding less and less convincing as time went. They always did this, her and Harry making you spill words out like vomit. And there you went thinking about Harry again.
"What it sounds like to me is that you saw Rohan, took your past relationship with him up as the object of ire, and went along with it" She raised her eyebrows cockily knowing she was right. You sighed and fell back on the bed minding the plate.
"What are you my therapist?" you rolled your eyes.
"I just-" You rubbed your face, "She just throws stuff on our faces whenever it's convenient for her and then expects us to accept it happily" You started speaking, words vomiting out before you could think.
"The engagement, her moving, the divo-"
"Y/N it's been almost seven years. You have to move on" She said sadly. You sat up quickly and looked back at her with an irritated expression.
"I can't! I can't move on from constantly seeing and hearing them fighting. I can't move on from them fighting over you forgetting about me like I didn't exist! I can't forget about dad leaving without saying anything. I can't forget always being everyone's second choice!"
"You got the loving parents, you got mom's support, you got to be the precious golden child. What did I get? The one person that was there for left cause of her!"
You got up from bed and went inside the ensuite locking yourself in. You fell to your knees as soon as the click sounded, the cold tiles against your hot skin sent goosebumps throughout your body. You cried your eyes out as much as you could. Heaving for breath, ruined lipstick from constantly wiping your nose and lips, your mascara streaks on your cheeks, you were mess. But finally it felt good, light, numb.
*****
It was your last day at your mom's house you woke up early and got ready for the day. You wanted to stroll around a bit look at how things have changed and then go back to your home. You sneaked downstairs into the kitchen and made yourself a toast.
The breeze was cold when you sat on the back porch eating toast. It was a bit cloudy but it looked like the sun will be out. You planned your outfit in your head as you finished breakfast. You shivered slightly when a particular cold breeze hit your bare arms and you quickly scrambled inside.
*****
No one bothered you the whole morning which you were happy about. Your mom in her pride did not talk to you and your sister was doing her office work from far. You did apologize to her and told her you were going out but she didn't mind she knew you didn't mean harm.
By the time you got out of the house, it was almost noon. You took your camera with you so you could film along with enjoying the outdoors. You had to get back to your schedule and get your shit together.
You were filming in the park where some elderly were sitting chatting and some kids playing football when your phone chimed. It was from an unknown no.
Unknown: Meet us near the lake
You realized who it was. There was a small lake near your high school. You and your friends used to hang out near the large rock near it. Chatting, fighting, sometimes getting high, it was there you first tried alcohol after Ashton sneaked it from his parents.
The lake wasn't far from the park just five minutes walk and you could see the tight curly hair of Ashton.
"Hey guys" You cheered, immediately getting engulfed into hug by Ash. "Jesus mate I will suffocate" You laughed but hugged back. He swayed you both back and forth and then pulled back.
"Hey, there are others here also" You heard a soft voice call from behind him. Looking over his shoulder you saw Serra and Rohan standing.
You ran towards her and hugged her also, laughing and jumping. Serra was your friend you could count on, even after she moved away and you moved away she didn't let you go. Not like you talked every day but still there was communication.
"God I missed you so much" She said pulling back from the hug. "And you're prettier in person" She whined making you blush and laugh.
"Oh shut up. Have you seen yourself" You said returning the same enthusiasm as hers.
"If you both want to make out please do it somewhere else" Ashton screamed from near the rock where Rohan was. "It's kind of gross to kiss your stepsister though" He said making everyone laugh but you.
"Come on" she said tugging you towards the boys. All four of you sat down on the uncomfortable foldable chair and started chatting catching up on everything they have missed.
It was nice catching up with your old friends until Harry was brought up as a topic.
"How's your boyfriend doing eh?" Ashton raised his eyebrows teasingly. Let be any other time you would have laughed but your face hardened.
"I don't have a boyfriend" You rolled your eyes at him.
"Come on I watch your videos you can let us in on your little secret." He said wiggling his eyebrows not taking a hint. Ash has always been a nosy nancy making everyone's business his.
"He is not my boyfriend alright? He has someone else" You said a bit louder than you should have but it felt like the past days everyone has been testing your patience.
Ashton shut his mouth up and you felt guilt creeping up when his smile dropped. "It's alright he's just being his nosy self" Serra said running her hand up and down your back.
"Yeah forget it you don't need a boyfriend or girlfriend or whatever." He said and the conversation came back to normal. Serra and Ash arguing over something stupid while you and Rohan sat in silence.
You looked at him for the first time coming there. He was in a yellow jumper with a black coat over it, his brown hair messy and his eyes already on yours.
"You have gone very silent over these years" you finally said. "Well when someone doesn't acknowledge your presence what are you supposed to do?" He said raising an eyebrow.
"So how have you been? Heard you took over your dad's business whole young CEO and all" You asked making him laugh. "Someone is keeping tabs on me" He replied. You shrugged not necessarily denying it. You kept tabs on everyone just him a bit more. You kept it secretive enough to not make it look creepy.
"Yeah completed college dad pushed me straight into office. I was wondering why he was so eager but I guess now I know" He said letting out a dry chuckle.
"He didn't tell you?" You asked. "Nah. Not necessarily having a very son-father relationship it's just business. Serra doesn't even talk to him" he replied shrugging, you nodded in reply not having anything else to say.
There sat an uncomfortable silence between you two not necessarily for any reason just cause you both didn't know what to say.
"You know that a person can see when someone watches their live right?" You finally asked him after a moment.
He laughed his face heating up. "I was curious okay? Serra won't stop talking and I just thought I might check what you been up to" He said looking at Serra who was now about to jump in freezing lake.
"She has a major crush on your best friend you know" Rohan said finally looking at you. Your eyes widened, "Yeah, but not I want to be with you crush more of a he's so cool I love him type crush you know" He added.
"He's pretty cool. I don't think there can be a person who gets to know him and does not fall in love with him in some way. He has a charm to him, an attraction that pulls you toward him wanting to know more about him even if he's just a stranger walking down the street."
When she looked back at him, Rohan was looking at her with weird smile.
"What?" You asked him confused.
"Nothing. Just don't make the same mistake you made with me" He said getting up and pulling down his sunglasses.
"What?" You asked again very much confused.
"Letting your pride come in middle and then losing your chance" He said looking over his shoulder. You watched with parted lips as he walked towards Serra and Ash.
You didn't think he would still remember it. Rohan and your relationship if you can call that was weird, seeing as you both were very young. He was your first kiss and you were his, it was just two new teenagers sneaking around kissing messily not knowing what they were doing you were fine with that but then you heard the news of him moving away and it hurt. He asked you out but you turned him down for the sole reason to show that you didn't care. You did though and it hurt a lot.
He finally stopped the duo from jumping into the cold lake and from what you could tell from afar was giving them a lecture.
"Babe we're matching! We have to get a pic" Ashton exclaimed walking over to you and you couldn't say no.
*****
When it was time to go back home you were exhausted but also excited. You thought about what Rohan had said and you decided to talk things out with Harry once you reach back home. You couldn't wait to go home and meet him and Flynn.
You excitedly invited all of them to your birthday party which was in few days.
You were walking home along with Serra and Rohan, her talking both of your ears off but you didn't care.
Once you reached in front of your mom's house your rental was gone. You looked around as if it would hide behind trees and bushes.
"Bella took it" You hear voice looking up you see your mom leaning down from your room window.
"What are you doing in my room?" You asked seeing her sigh. "It's my house I can be wherever I want to be and I use your closet as storage" she deadpanned and went back inside.
"How the fuck am I supposed to get back now?" You asked no one else but yourself. For some time you forgot two more people were standing there noticing the interaction.
"We can drop you home" Serra said bringing you out of your thoughts. You turned to look at her and smiled at her sincere expression.
"Won't be necessary I will figure something out" You tried to assure her but she just scoffed and took out her phone.
"Nonsense. I'm texting Aaron right now to bring the car here, go get your bags" She said and walked away. You turned to look at Rohan and he had the same expression.
"Come on a road trip with us is not that bad" He teased making you roll your eyes. You went inside and packed the rest of your things and went back outside. Seeing a slick black Maserati standing outside, sometimes you forget they are rich rich and it wasn't a big deal for them while your mouth was agape.
"C'mon get inside" Rohan said holding the door open for you. He took the bag from you as you slid in the back seat.
*****
"You're telling me you have a whole ass kid?" You looked at Rohan shocked.
"Yes Y/N I have a whole ass kid" He chuckled shaking his head mocking your word.
"Wow. How though?" You asked still in shock. Rohan has always been a responsible one so his having an accidental kid at 19 was the last thing you expected and he also didn't have any ring on his hand so, you didn't think he was married.
"Do I need to explain how kids are made?" He cocked an eyebrow at you. Your face scrunched up and you swatted his arm. It was pretty shocking when Rohan said he needs to pick up his son from his mom's. At first I thought it was exaggeration of having pet but then you saw him carrying a sleeping 4 year old and you were sure you looked like goldfish.
"Someone's awake" You heard Serra speak from the backseat. You looked over your shoulder and saw Rohil blink open his eyes and look around. His eyes met Serra's, he gave her a big smile giggling but that stopped when his eyes met yours. Instead his eyes widened first and then he got shy.
"Ro baby why don't you say hi to Y/N? She's our friend" Rohan told him sweetly. He gave you a shy smile and a little wave, "Hi, I Rohi" he said his M and L getting lost.
"Hi Rohil, I'm Y/N" You told him with a big smile which got him shy and he looked away. You turned and looked at his dad, "Rohan I might steal your child be aware." You sighed looking at the child from mirror talking to his aunty.
"Dadda" He called him getting a hmm in reply, "Need to pee" He whispered like anyone else in the car wouldn't hear him.
"My house is close you can take him there" You said getting an agreement from everyone. You unlocked your phone telling your sister that you were about to reach home when you saw notification from Harry's account both insta and youtube.
It was a song, not a cover a song which wasn't unusual Harry has recorded some songs but he usually sticks to covers. You decided to listen to the song after you reached your apartment and saw the post. The lyrics caught your eye or the most highlighted name 'Baby Honey', the weird nickname Harry called you. If it was used in a nice context maybe you have liked it but no, it made you look like some kind of gold digger.
"Oh! I know he's got the money, Baby Honey does he make you night?" what the fuck that supposed to mean?
"Are you alright?" Rohan asked from beside you, you gave him a nod and locked your phone sliding it back inside your pocket. "We have arrived" he said.
Everyone went upstairs to your apartment, Ro babbling about something to his dad, everything was muffled to you, you were in your brain and the only thing that seemed to be in your brain was Harry. Rohan gasped and turned to you making you come out of the daze you were in. You smiled and turned to them, "What?" You asked. Rohan smirked and turned to his son, "Someone thinks you're pretty" he stretched the y in a teasing tone making Ro hide his face in his dad's neck.
You and Serra laughed and cooed at the small child. A four-year-old called you pretty? you don't need any other validation.
"I think you're really pretty too Ro" You cooed at him making the child smile shyly. You unlocked your door and put down the bags, Rohan took Ro to the washroom after asking you for directions.
"Want something S? Water, snacks, juice?" You asked, "Water please" She said with a smile. Father and son duo was back again sitting on the couch, you brought water and some snacks for all of them.
"What do you want little guy? What's your favorite?" You ask swatting down to his level. You see him thinking in his little brain letting out a long hm.
"Can I have strawberries please?" He asks looking up at you sweetly, you chuckle and stand up, "Of course! Want me to cut them certain way?" you ask him. He looks up at his father and see him giving a small nod and shrug, "Can you cut them in hearts?" He asks politely and your ovaries were screaming. He was so sweet, polite and the cutest kid you have seen.
"Coming right at ya champ" You ruffled his hair making him giggle. Serra came to help you with it and in no time everyone is sitting on the couch with Ro in Rohan's lap beside you and Serra beside him.
*****
Everyone shows their feelings in a different way, some yell, some shut off, and some cry their heart out but Harry writes whatever he's feeling. The pain, anger, jealousy everything he tries to transfer to thin sheets of paper in his journal and make it a melody.
He just took it far by posting it and now he was regretting it. He was panicking, he was a mess.
He was drinking his misery off when his doorbell rang. For a hopeful minute, he thought it might be you but after what he did he wasn't sure it was you. He still opened the door with hopefulness but as his brain told it wasn't you.
"Hey baby" She exclaimed pushing past him inside. "Is your phone broken? You weren't answering my texts and calls so, I thought I would just visit you" She exclaimed putting down her bag. Harry rubbed his forehead in annoyance.
"Steph when someone doesn't answer your text and calls you should take a hint and realize they don't want to talk to you" He said, his voice full of annoyance with a bit slurring cause of drinks.
"So you were blowing me off? It just it isn't it? Fuck me and leave me alone. You always do this, even when we broke up you just came we had sex and you were like "I can't do this anymore". Such a dick you're." She said angrily picking up her bag and moving towards the door. Meanwhile Harry just stood their with his eyes trained on the floor.
"You know Harry if you love her so muchstop doing this shit" she looked back at him.
"What?" He asked.
"Leading her on. Cause sometimes it might not look like it but you are the problem most times" and with that she shuts the door loudly making his photoframe fall down. Harry flinches and sighs, he picks up broom and gloves and starts picking up pieces of glasses.
After picking up all the mess he stands up, his eyes noticing the yellow envelope with a certain label on it. He quickly throws away the trash and opens the letter just to find rejection again.
It was letter from the label he tried to get but they refused saying it wasn't up to their style. Ironic.
Harry slid down against the wall as a sob broke through him. He brought his knees up and leaned his head down holding himself.
A wet lick on his hands made him look to the side, seeing Flynn sitting looking up at him sadly. He picked thr small dog up and cuddled him which he returned with more kisses making Harry laugh.
Maybe he fucked up but he still had Flynn and that was enough.
*****
You were taking shower after everyone had left cause that's the only place you could think.
It seemed as if the only person you could think of was Harry. He was constantly on your mind, an unhealthy amount but you guessed that's what happens when you fall in love. You get the butterflies and serotonin but also kind of lose your sanity and actuality.
You could never understand him, maybe that's what attracted you to him. Your daddy issues run deep anyway. He would leave you for someone else so many times and yet you would go back and hold him so he could sleep cause he had a hard day, take care of him when he's sick when he never thought twice before leaving you. You stucked to the good part leaving all bad behind.
He would sometimes write these cute love songs and you loved to pretend it was about you. It certainly fit the description of the person defined in it and sometimes you would curse yourself for falling for his love songs.
But the recent song he wrote hurt. When you and Harry became friends a lot of people accused you of being his friend cause he was more famous and using him to grow your channel. That song felt like a slap to your cheek.
You sighed tired from the mental exhaustion and turned off the shower. You got out and did your skincare routine. Opening the drawer you took out his t-shirt and put it on, his smell engulfed you relaxing your body, and making you fall asleep.
*****
It was week later, you were same. hadn't talked to Harry, neither your mom. You couldn't bring yourself to. You had spent whole day running errands, recording videos. You have just gotten back to your schedule.
It was nearly evening when you finished. You were walking up the stairs hands full of grocery bags. Huffing you were trying to unlock your door to find it already unlocked. You froze thinking someone had broken in, you opened your apartment door silently peeking in to see if someone was in there only to find it pitch dark.
You slid inside the apartment leaving the bags outside and took out your phone to call the emergency number when suddenly all the lights were on and people were screaming in your face.
"Surprise!"
Everyone shouted and so did you. You let out a high-pitched scream startled by all the people standing in your apartment. You clutched your heart feeling it beat out of your body.
"Are you fu-" You stopped and looked around finding Ro standing there, "dging insane".
All of your friends laughed while you stood with your head in your hands chuckling. "I almost had a heart attack" you laughed. Your sister took you in a hug and that's when you saw her in the dragon outfit and then looked around to find Matt in donkey outfit, Rohan was lord farquad, Ashton was prince charming, Ro was Pinocchio and then there was him as Shrek.
"You costume is in your room get ready fast" Bella told you but your eyes refused to left his. He looked tired, dark circles, tousled hair, that wasn't like Harry. He was the person who goes to get coffee dressed like a model so, at a party he was looking like shit meant it was bad.
You went to your room to get ready, from what you have guessed you were given Princess Fiona. You didn't even know who came up with Shrek theme party but you were grateful whoever did.
Your dress was pretty, it was long and had a slit up to thigh, a corset top off shoulder with puffy sleeves, it was princess Fiona but sexier. You put your hair in braids and a small dainty necklace.
You didn't bother putting on shoes since you were inside and went to the living room. Everyone was talking to each other but your eyes were searching for Harry.
You saw Rohan coming towards you with smile, he gave you a small hug. "I'm sorry I had to bring Ro. It was quite impossible to stop him crying when he heard Y/N and birthday party in same sentence ans couldn't go" He chuckled.
"Oh shut up" You waved him off, "I'm happy that little guy is here, he's so cute. I love him" You said laughing.
While Harry across the room was glaring holes at the side of Rohan's head. You were laughing with him when it should have been him, you were his best friend.
"Stare harder you might actually make holes in his head" Bella spoke beside him. His eyes never left the duo, "I wish I could" He said taking sip of his orange juice.
"Harry" Bella sighed, "You have to stop being an asshole and talk to her" She said now standing in front of him blocking his vision.
"She's the one who's ignoring me!" He whisper shouted making Bella roll her eyes.
"Can you blame her? I was ready to break your bones" She said sassily, "But you have to go and apologize for what you did, I'm tired of seeing both of you running around in circles." She said and walked back to the kitchen.
You felt a small body collide in you. Looking down you saw Ro hugging your leg looking up at you with smile. "Hello little guy" You cooed and picked him up.
"Happy birthday" He exclaimed giggling, his tiny hands holding your face. You smiled the biggest you could and pecked his chubby cheeks, "Thanks buddy"
"I made something for you" he said enthusiastically looking at his dad. Rohan took out a card from his coat pocket. You transferred Ro to your other hand and opened the card seeing a stick figure drawn resembling you with a Happy birthday pretty which you assumed was written by Rohan.
"Thanks Ro I love it" You said kissing all over his face.
"Alright call me if he gets fussy" Rohan said patting Ro's head, you gave him a nod and focused back on the babbling child.
After an hour, you sat down on the couch Ro refusing to leave your lap, his small legs on either side of your waist and his hands in your as you pretended to push him make him fall then pulled him up making him laugh.
In 22 almost 23 years of your life you never thought you would bee having fun playing with a child than drinking your brains off and partying.
"Y/N" Ro called, "Yeah buddy" You replied.
"Will you be my bestie?" He asked his brows scrunched making him more adorable.
"You want me to be?" You asked and saw him nod.
"I don't know mate she's also my bestie" a deep voice spoke taking his attention from you.
"No she's my bestie" He spoke wrapping his arms around you. You laughed at his childishness.
"We can make a deal" Harry said sitting beside you, Ro turned his head still laying against your torso.
"What?" He spoke in small voice and you knew he was about to fall asleep.
"You can become my bestie also then we can all be besties like a group" Harry said softly. Ro looked at him for a few second his small brain comprehending the thing.
"Okay" He said and suggled into you more making you coo at him.
"So I will go first. Hi, I'm Harry" Harry said bringing his hand out to shake. Ro took his large hand in his small ones, "I'm Rohil"
"Nice to meet you Rohil" Harry said smiling.
"Y/N" He called you again.
"Yeah buddy" you replied.
"I'm hungry" He said. You gave him a nod and were about to get up when Rohan walked towards you.
"Give him to me, I will feed him before he knocks out" Rohan took the child from you. You hands felt empty, even though they were aching from holding him.
You sighed and looked at the man beside you.
"How have you been?" You finally asked him. You couldn't help yourself, at one point you knew everything about him and just in few days time everything changed. It felt like he was miles apart sitting right next to you.
"Fine" You gave him a eyeroll making him chuckle, "Been shit. Remember the label I sent music to" You hummed, "They said it wasn't their taste." he said a sad pout on his face.
"Harry" You took his hand in your making his head snap up to your face, "You will get a better label, I assure you. You're talented and smart man don't let one thing tear you down" You squeezed his hand and let it go.
"Thank you" He said. Harry brought his hand you were holding to his other one and held onto it, held onto your warmth to feel it as long as he could.
Ro's absence highlighted the awkward silence between you two. Harry sat on the end of couch sipping his drink and you on other end peeling off your nail polish.
"The dress is pretty, you look beautiful" Harry said looking at you shyly.
"Thank you. You look good too for a shrek" You joked making him let out a dry chuckle and the silence was back. You decided you had enough so you go to stand up and be anywhere but here when he stopped you.
Harry paniced when he saw you stand up. He had to make it right he had no other choice than that. Even if he couldn't have you as lover he wanted his best friend back.
"Y/N" He called you weakly and stood up, you turned around to face him, "I- Can we talk?" He asked rubbing the back of his neck.
You gave him a hesitant nod and made your way towards your room.
Harry followed you like a lost puppy cause that's what he felt like he was. You were the one who would knock on his head whenever he would do something stupid. He was a lost cause without you, you were his light, his inspiration, his muse, his everything.
And he was going to do everything to get you back.

My dearest Y/n,
Not a day passes without my mind, body, and soul yearning for your touch and pleasant conversation. Just yesterday I slept on your side of the bed in hopes of smelling traces of your perfume on the pillows. It did not help. Your books still hold your bookmarks on the places where you stopped. I must say, I admire your will to read every book that belongs to you but worry that you might never finish one. Just today, I found five different books that have your bookmarks. Yesterday, I found two. I have put them aside for you to make it easier to finish them. A fair maiden asked me for a dance last week at one of my father’s feasts but I had to refuse. No maiden could ever be as fair as you, even if you do step on my toes while we dance. It gives us more reason to keep practicing. My love for you grows every day and so does my longing. I fear you might be away for longer than I can take and I wonder if you would mind if I came over to see you for a day or two. Just the two of us.
Love,
Loki
‘Brother, who is this letter for?’ ‘What letter?’ Thor holds a letter that looks old and withered. It takes less than a second for Loki to realize what it is. He suddenly looks enraged. ‘Put it down,’ he snaps with venom laced in through his words. The sudden change in demeanor surprises and scares his brother. As careful as he can be, he puts the letter back on Loki’s desk. Loki rushes over and picks up the letter with the utmost care, gently putting it back in a drawer that he locks right away. ‘Who is Y/n?’ Loki sighs and leans against his desk. He looks tired when Thor looks at him again. It’s like a pain has been buried deep within him and has been eating at him for ages. ‘A hundred years or so ago, I went to Midgard to do some business for father. He send me to visit a pagan family that worshiped us to bless them. On the next farm over lived a young woman and when I went to the pagan family, they kept insulting her. I felt I could not justify giving our blessing if this maiden wasn’t the terrible person they said she was,’ Loki explains, ‘so I went over to her house to see for myself.’
Confidently, Loki strides over to the maiden’s house. Her garden is filled with flowers and herbs. From what Loki can tell, there are animals behind the house. This woman is sustaining herself but why? Why would a young maiden live so far removed from the fuss of the city? Especially since the family says she’s not married. Loki knocks on her door and hears fuss inside. It sounds like a dog barking at the door and a big one at that. He watches as a small latch in the door opens and a woman looks outside. He can only see her eyes but the eyes are the gates to the soul and her eyes are beautiful. They sparkle like the gems his mother wears, the reflection of water, or dewdrops on roses. ‘What is your business?’ ‘Forgive me for barging in miss. I have traveled long and far and need a place to rest my head. Would you allow me to sleep in your haystack or shed? Anywhere that’s dry.’ He hears the door unlock and out runs a big, black dog. He looks like he crawled from the debts of hell but his demeanor is friendly when his owner shows kindness. Loki doubts he acts the same if she is in trouble. ‘You make me sound cruel. Please come inside. I’ve got food to spare,’ she tells him with a friendly smile. Her door is wide open but Loki hesitates to step inside. He takes a good look at the maiden. As beautiful as she is, how is she capable of being this friendly. He can not imagine she has not been taken advantage of at least once. ‘You do not know me. Are you certain you want to show me kindness?’ ‘Why would I not? I have Bella to protect me if I need it and if I am frank, you look withered and weak. I doubt you’d be able to lay your hands on me,’ she tells him, ‘come inside. There’s a storm coming.’ Loki steps inside and follows her into the house. She offers him a chair at the table and gets him a plate as well as a drink. If this is a wicked woman, what is the family next door like? They show no kindness. Bella, the big dog, lays itself down under the table by her feet. She seems at ease as the maiden pets her a few times over the head. ‘So tell me, traveler, where are you going?’ ‘You don’t want to know where I’m from?’ ‘I doubt you’d want to talk about it if you’ve been traveling for long,’ she says, offering him a gentle smile, ‘besides, where you’re going tells more about you than where you’ve been.’ ‘I like your ideology miss. May I ask your name before I tell you?’ ‘Will you tell me yours if I tell you mine?’ ‘I fear you may want me out if I tell you.’ She nods, not pushing it any further. Loki feels like she wouldn’t mind who he is as she does not seem like a judgemental person but he wouldn’t want to run the risk. ‘My name is Y/n.’
Early in the morning, Loki awakes on the comfortable couch in Y/n’s living room with more blankets covering him than he went to sleep with. He is awoken by the wet, warm sensation of Bella licking his face. ‘Good morning Bella.’ He pets the dog a few times and gets up from his resting place. He hears Y/n call for Bella, who runs out excitedly. She must be outside, taking care of her animals. He dresses quickly and walks outside to see what she’s up to. He finds her sitting in the field, one of her cows laying beside her resting it’s head on her lap. She calls out commands to Bella to herd her sheep together and back to the pen. After the raging storm last night, she probably wants to see if they’re all alright. Loki walks towards her and sits down next to her in the grass. She nods to him, too busy to greet him. It’s only when all the sheep are in the pen that she fully acknowledges him. ‘Did you sleep well?’ ‘Yes, but the strangest thing happened,’ he tells her with a slight smirk on his lips, ‘I woke with three blankets while I’m sure I had only one when I went to sleep.’ ‘You looked cold.’ ‘You are a very kind host, miss Y/n.’ She smiles and looks out over the field. Bella comes running their way and sits down next to Loki. ‘She has taken a liking to you,’ Y/n notices, ‘she doesn’t like many people.’ ‘I feel honored.’ Loki pets the dog as he looks at Y/n. She looks beautiful in the morning light. Almost as beautiful as she had looked in the candlelight last night. ‘I feel like I have been untrue to you, miss,’ Loki tells her. ‘Why would that be? You are a traveler, are you not?’ ‘I am but not of the kind you know,’ he tells her, ‘you have been a wonderful host and I feel you deserve the truth.’ She chuckles. ‘You speak like this will change everything.’ ‘It might,’ he lets his head hang, ‘my name is Loki, god of mischief. I originally came here to bless the family next door for their devotion to us but they spoke ill of you. I felt I had to be certain you were a bad person if they were to deserve our blessing.’ ‘And what might your conclusion be, Loki god of Mischief?’ ‘They should deserve our blessing for their faithfulness and devotion to us but not for their treatment of others.’ She smiles. ‘I see.’ ‘May I ask why they talk of you this way?’ ‘I am an unmarried woman living alone on a farm. If I’m not being called a spinster, I’m being called a witch. It changes with the season. I’m used to it by now.’ She shrugs it off like it’s nothing but Loki feels a pit of rage in his stomach. A woman as lovely as her should be worshiped. He rips a piece of his golden armor off and puts it between his hands, forging a golden bracelet from it. ‘If you’ll allow me, I’d like to protect you,’ he says and shows her the simple, golden band. She looks hesitant and Loki understands. He’s the god of mischief. ‘Forgive my hesitation but I have been fending for myself for what feels like forever. It’s a kind gesture but I do not need it.’ He nods but gently takes her hand and puts it on. ‘Wear it,’ he tells her, ‘I will not protect you but I will watch over you. If you need company, just call out to me.’ She smiles again, putting her hand over his. ‘That is very kind, Loki.’
As summer progressed into fall, Y/n harvested her crops and made sure they’d survive winter. Her harvest wasn’t great but over time she noticed her supplies would not lessen, even if she took something. It would just reappear when she returned. Loki had visited her a few times during summer but when fall got colder, he stayed away. She feared she might’ve read his actions all wrong as she felt her feelings grow towards him. She thought he felt the same. When Winter thawed and the ground got softer, she called out to Loki in hopes to ask him about it. He did not appear and she feared he had forgotten about her. That is until- ‘Did you miss me?’ She couldn’t stop the smile appearing on her face if she tried. It’s like her feet work on their own as she runs over to him and throws her arms around him. ‘It’s so good to see you again. I feared you had forgotten me.’ ‘Forget the fairest maiden I have ever met? I could never,’ he tells her with a smile. His eyes linger on her lips for a second. ‘I stayed away in hopes your feeling would lessen.’ ‘My feelings? How did you know?’ ‘Darling, I am a god.’ ‘That’s fair, I should’ve known,’ she says with a grin, taking his hands, ‘but why?’ ‘I am not the best suitor and a maiden like you surely deserves better.’ ‘I do not want better.’ He frowns and looks down at her darling eyes. They still shine like gems and are filled with love. ‘My darling, I cannot marry you,’ he tells her, ‘I am prince, heir to the throne. They expect me to marry a goddess.’ ‘I understand.’ She smiles but he can tell she feels terrible. Her heart dropped and her smile faltered. It wasn’t hard to tell that his words hurt her. ‘I wish I could. I truly do,’ he promises her. ‘Then, don’t marry me but stay with me until you have to give yourself to another.’ ‘My darling, my mischief seems to have rubbed off on you,’ he speaks proudly, ‘yes. I will stay loyal to you until I must love another.’
‘But the villagers started a witch hunt and as a single, unmarried woman she was the first target,’ Loki tells his brother, ‘I could not protect her. Father would not let me.’ ‘You loved her, didn’t you?’ ‘I did but it’s in the past now. There’s no bringing her back.’ ‘I’m sorry.’ ‘Don’t be. I was young and stupid. I fell in love with someone I couldn’t have.’ Thor nods and takes a deep breath. ‘Believe me or don’t but you deserve love, Loki. I hope you’ll find a woman like her.’ Loki lets out a breathy laugh. ‘There is no woman like her.’ Thor leaves Loki’s room. It takes Loki a second to come back to reality. His hand reaches for the drawer and unlocks it once again, taking out the golden band she had worn. He deserves love, yes, but he has already met the person he was supposed to be with and no one else will ever compare.

“This place is all yours?” Riley asks following you into the very large house on a secluded part of the beach in California. You grin turning toward him.
“Yep,” You nodded, watching him take in the gorgeous house. He whistles lowly. “It was the one time I managed to outsmart Edward.” Riley arches an eyebrow at you. “He was being an asshole a couple of years ago and I had enough of it. In the end, I got his beloved beach house.”
“And how did you outsmart, Edward?” Riley asks, sauntering over to you. You smirked draping your arms around his shoulders when he reached you.
“I’m a smart cookie,” You wink. “Besides, a magician never reveals her secrets,” You whisper to him.
“You know what I think?” He asks, his hands resting low on your hips. The tips of his fingers getting closer to your ass. You hum stepping closer to him. “I think you have some enchanting power and you bewitch everyone around you.”
“Is that so?” You whisper, playing with the ends of his hair. He nods bumping his nose against yours. “And have I enchanted you, Riley Biers?” You ask, tilting your head.
“Without a doubt,” Riley tells you. “And I’d have it no other way,” You grin connecting your lips with his.
His hands glide over your ass, giving it a tight squeeze, before continuing to your thighs. He lifts you up and wraps your legs around his waist.
“How about we christen the place?” You suggest, moving your lips to his jawline.
“We’ll have to hit everyone, it’ll be back luck to leave one out,” Riley smirks, digging his fingers into your hips.
“Well, then pick a room and let’s get started diamond boy,” Riley tightens his hold on you and flashes into one of the several bedrooms. You gasp when he tosses you onto the bed.
You lick you lips watching him strip his shirt. His arrogance grows as you shamelessly watch him undress in front of you. You enjoyed the show.
When he was done, he beckoned you forward with his finger. Biting your lip, you climb off the bed. His fingers gently grab your chin, forcing you to look at him.
“Your turn,” He whispers, giving your lips a light peck before laying on the bed where you had. You turn to face him, your fingers toying with the end of the shirt. “Go on baby girl, nice and slow for me”
A deep blush paints your cheeks. You slowly lift the shirt off your body. Your eyes anxiously meet his. His eyebrows raise and that damn smug smirk stays on his lips.
The next to go are your pants leaving you in your panties and bra. Knowing that something like this was gonna happened you decided to wear you good pair. They’re even a matching set.
You breathe in sharply when Riley appears in front of you. His hands lightly brushing along your curves. They raise and cup your breasts before he looks into your eyes.
“Flawless,” Riley whispers, attaching his lips to yours. His hand squeezes your breast while the other one goes to cup your ass. In a heartbeat, Riley removes your matching set and pins you onto the bed.
“Riley!” You cry out when he thrusts into you without warning. You jaw drops, your head pushing back into the pillows as he drills into you. He growls biting at your neck, careful to not draw blood but enjoying how easily your skin bruises with his touch.
You whimper when he suddenly pulls away and out of you. He has you flipped on your chest before you can blink. You fist the sheets as he thrusts back into you going deep. His thrusts are slower than before but all the more powerful.
His hand grabs a fistful of hair forcing your head to come back. He growls in your ear before suckling on a patch of skin just below. His hand wraps around your stomach and forces you to lean back and reposition your knees. He holds you against his chest and continues his deep thrusts while whispering how well you take his cock and how beautiful you are.
After you christen the first room you and Riley make your way throughout the house. He fucks you everywhere and in every position. He bends your body in ways you didn’t know you could bend. He worships everything you consider a flaw and whispers his love for you while he does it.
It took you a couple of days to finish your christening session. He had a vampire’s stamina while you needed rest like every other human. At some point, you told him about your plans for the wedding as he wore you legs like earmuffs. You would ask for his opinion in between the moans and every time he would assure you that he would like whatever you had planned.
“You’re so good to me,” You whisper, laying on your side facing him. Hs lays on his back, his head turned toward you. He hand lifts and gently brushes your cheek. “I love you,” You declare, climbing on top of him.
“I love you, baby girl,” He replies, kissing you when you lean toward him. Your lips leave his. He lays there as you kiss down his chest and torso. He growls quietly when your hand brushes against your cock.
You smirk, your eyes flickering up to him. His bronze eyes watch you, his jaw ticking when you lightly kiss his shaft. You notice his hands clenching around the sheets the more you tease him.
He groans when your lips encase around his tip. You bob your head taking more of him every time you go down. Your hand grips the base while the other one rubs his abdomen.
“Is there anything you’re not good at?” Riley groans. You lift off of him, your hand moving up and down as you smirk at him.
“Well, I’ve never been good at saying no to food,” You tell him Riley grins but it’s wiped off his face as you attempt to deepthroat him. You gag when his hips snap up.
His hands slither into your hair and forces your hand to stay still as his hips rut into your mouth. He groans words of praise as you continue to let him use you. His hands release your hair when he warns that he’s about to come but you stay where you are and swallow him.
“You’re just as good of a snack as I am,” You wink at him. Riley grins, pulling you up to him.
A couple of days later you get an... interesting call from Carlisle.
“She’s what?” You ask, slowly sitting down in a nearby chair. “How is that possible?”
“We’re not sure,” Carlisle says. “You and Riley should come home.”
“Ye-yeah, of course,” You nod, gripping the phone tightly. “We’ll be home soon,” You assure him before hanging up.
“I thought we weren’t supposed to leave for another week,” You gasp, turning toward Riley. He had been out hunting and you didn’t expect him to be back so soon. “Sorry, baby, didn’t mean to scare you,”
“It’s alright,” You whisper, nipping at your nails. Riley picks up on the anxiety and claims the seat beside you.
“What’s wrong? What did Carlisle want?” He asks. Your eyes flicker from him to your shoes. “Y/n,” Riley says, grabbing your hand. “What’s going on?”
“Bella’s pregnant,” You whisper. Riley tenses. Your eyes look up at him. “Edward got her pregnant and we haven’t exactly been careful.”
“You think...?” His eyes flicker to your stomach.
“We need to go home,” You whisper to him. He slowly nods, his eyes not leaving your stomach. “Riley,” He looks up at you. “We’re going to be ok... Right?”
“We’re going to be ok,” Riley assures you. He caresses the side of your face. “I love you, baby” He whispers, kissing your forehead.
The two of you left immediately. When you got home, Bella and Edward were already home. Carlisle was examining her before insisting on examining you. While he couldn’t tell if you were pregnant at the moment, you had a couple of weeks before you were in the clear.
You were not in the clear. It only took another weeks for your symptoms to show. You were three weeks behind Bella. When Riley found out, he didn’t know how to react just like you.
You were a little older than Bella but still fairly young. While you loved the idea of a family with Riley, the unknown about this baby scared you. Despite not knowing how this would turn out, you loved the baby. Unlike Edward, Riley loved your child as well.
At night, he would talk to the baby. He hoped for a boy and would tell them stories of him growing up. Some stories made you laugh while other stories made you yearn to know his family.
As the baby grew, both you and Bella started to get sickly. Riley felt conflicted. He loved the baby as you did but he loved you more. He’d rather have you than risk you to this baby but you couldn’t bare the thought of anything happening to your child.
“Riley,” You whisper. His head snaps to you and he flashes to your side. Your hand caresses your stomach.
“What is it? Are you hurt? Uncomfortable?” He asks, his hand resting on your stomach. You both smile when you feel the baby kick. “Easy little one, you’re mother’s fragile. It’s not nice to hurt her,” He mutters kissing your bump. As if listening to him, the baby stills.
“This baby’s half vampire,” You whisper. Riley hums, his eyes looking at you. “What if he’s thirsty?” Riley perks at the idea.
“Stay here,” He whispers, kissing your forehead. You sigh rubbing your stomach as he goes to fetch you something to drink. “Had to convince Carlisle that this was for you and not me,” Riley teases, bringing you a Styrofoam cup.
“This is a bad idea,” You mutter, holding the cup.
“You’re probably right about your theory though,” Riley says, gently caressing your thigh. “Give it a try... Think of it as trying a new smoothie or a bloody Mary,” He winks at you.
“If it’s a bloody Mary where’s my celery stick?” You ask, tilting your head. Riley chuckles a bit.
“I’ll remember it next time, mama,” Riley promises, winking at you. “Don’t smell it, just drink.” You send him a look but take his advice. “So?”
“Tastes pretty damn good,” You tell him before drinking some more. Riley breathes in relief. He leans toward you and kisses your forehead.
“We’re going to be ok, baby” Riley whispers.
Once you realized that blood was what you and Bella needed to stay nourished, the two of you became healthier. Everything was going smoothly until the wolves found out about your and Bella’s pregnancy.
“I don’t care if those mutts are your friends or if you have some treaty with them, if they come near Y/n I will kill them,” Riley growls protectively. Jake growls back at him warningly.
“It won’t come to that,” Carlisle promises. “We out number them, they won’t attack,”
“No, they’ll wait for the opportune moment and then attack. Why would we wait for them to find the chance?” Riley snapped.
“Because we gave them our word that we wouldn’t break the treaty,” Esme tells him. “You’re apart of this family now and we won’t be the ones to attack first,”
“Easy for you to say, it’s not your mate their aiming to kill,” Riley snaps.
“We’ll protect both Bella and Y/n with our lives, their our daughters.” Carlisle tells him.
“You’ll protect them as long as you don’t have to kill anyone else,” Riley tells him. “I’ll tear the entire reservation to shreds if it means Y/n and our child will be safe,” He turns to Jake. “Tell your precious band of mutts that if they try to harm my family that I will take everything from them,” Riley warns before returning to your room.
“He won’t do anything unless Y/n is hurt,” Edward assures them.
“So, we’re at a standstill,” Esme whispers.
Despite not having that many health concerns to worry about tensions continued to rise as Sam’s pack refused to let the Cullen’s hunt. Riley’s patience was wearing thin. He was ready to get rid of the wolves but knew he couldn’t do it on his own. However, that wouldn’t stop him if he felt you were in immediate danger.
Then Bella went into labor and everything escalated. Riley stayed in the your room with you. He paced across the floor as he listened to Bella screaming and her heart giving away. He looked to you when she died. He imagined you going through the same fate and his fear for your life raised.
“Riley,” You whisper, looking outside to see the wolves coming.
“I won’t let them near you,” He growls joining Edward, Alice and Jasper outside. Unlike the other three, Riley wasn’t worried about hurting them. He didn’t kill the wolves but he certainly broke bones and knocked one unconscious.
When Jake came out claiming to have imprinted on Edward’s daughter, Riley tensed. He growled at the thought of one of those mutts even going near his daughter as he rejoined you in the room.
You were relieved to see Riley wasn’t hurt and even more relieved to hear Bella had survived the transition. Edward kept her close as she adjusted to the newborn life while your grew closer to your due date.
Your baby decided it was time to come out while you were sleeping. The pain was unbearable. You didn’t remember Riley carrying you to Carlisle’s office or anything that followed really. You just remember the pain, then the numbness and then the darkness.
Waking up, you instantly saw the world differently. It didn’t take you long to put two and two together. You were a vampire.
You moved into the mirror. Your ruby red eyes stare back at you through the reflection. You pout slightly at your curves but knew you would have to get on good terms with them seeing as they would truly be with you for the rest of eternity.
“And here I was thinking that you couldn’t get anymore beautiful,” Looking in the reflection you see Riley staring at you. You speed up to him, almost knocking him over. He chuckles steadying you.
“I guess it’s a good thing you liked my curves,” You whisper to him.
“One of my favorite parts about you,” Riley winks before kissing you.
“The baby,” You whisper pulling away.
“A boy,” Riley tells you. “He’s healthy, Esme’s looking after him right now”
“A boy,” You laugh. “Y/s/n,” (You son’s name)
“Y/s/n,” Riley nods, hugging you tightly. “Come on, let’s get you something to drink.”
As much as you wanted to hold your son, you were terrified of hurting him. It took a couple of weeks before you held him in your arms. Riley stayed close making sure you were in control.
“He’s so beautiful,” You whisper kissing his forehead. You didn’t want to let him go. You hogged him for days, only ever letting Riley take him for a little while.
“I don’t know why we bought a crib when all he does is sleep in your arms,” Riley teases.
“He’s so precious,” You whisper, kissing his forehead delicately.
“You both are,” Riley whispers, wrapping his arms around you. You snuggle into Riley, holding your baby between you both.
Everything was perfect. But you still needed one more thing.
“You look beautiful,” Carlisle whispers. You spun around, twirling in your wedding dress. “Are you ready?”
“Hell yeah,” You nod causing Carlisle to chuckle. He offers his arm and you take it. He leads you outside where a small gathering of your friends and family are. They stand on either side of a makeshift aisle with Riley waiting for you at the end.
Carlisle walks you toward him, your eyes flickering away just for a moment to see your son resting in Esme’s arms. Your two boys. Your small little family. You couldn’t hope for anything more.
Your eyes go back to Riley. Carlisle gives you away to him. Your soon-to-be husband pulls you close.
“Ready to be mine forever?” You ask him.
“Wouldn’t want anyone else n the world,” Riley winks at you.

 Being Bella’s little brother and Seth Clearwaters Imprint:
When the two of you met he had no idea Bella had a little brother, let alone that you were his imprint
But when he catches your eye for just a split second- he nearly chokes on the sandwich he had been eating
Suddenly nothing else around him matters, his whole world shifts and he want’s to stay in that moment forever, holding your gaze.
You had only been there to drop something off, Jacob had apparently left something at Bella’s- probably purposefully hoping Bella would come over to drop it off but boy, was he glad you came instead.
The whole packs eyes shift in between the two of you
“Well, he’s not what I was expecting.” Quill snickers, bumping Seth’s shoulder snapping him back to reality.
“Is Jacob around?” You asked, feeling a little uneasy at everyone staring at you, “Bella asked me to drop this off...” You trailed off shifting uncomfortably.
“He’s out on a run- but you can wait here.” Sam said, a smirk on his face as he listened to Seth’s racing thoughts
“Oh, that’s okay, I’ll just drop it off with you if that’s alright.”
Seth’s shoulder’s dropped hoping you’d accept Sam’s offer and he’d be able to actually talk to you
You put Jacob’s wallet down on the table, hoping to get out of there as quickly as humanly possible because at this point the stares were deeply disturbing you
Paul threw his shoe at Seth, yelling at him in there heads to say something.
“Uh! Hi!?” He said a little to loud and obviously panicked
You just smiled at him, a little awkwardly but it was enough to get Seth hyped up
“I’m Seth Clearwater, Did you just move here?”
Ah, maybe that’s why they’ve been looking at you so strange, you think to yourself, A random stranger walks into your house and drops off there friends wallet. You assumed Bella had mentioned you coming over, apparently you assumed wrong.
“No, well kind of, I moved in a week after Bella got here.”
“How do you know Bella?”
Oh so they don’t know about you at all, you laugh slightly, oh course she didn’t, she was such a nice sister but damn, not even mentioning her own brother.
“She’s my sister...”
Suddenly everyone else was the one’s falling silent and Seth was chatting away about how you should come to there bonfire they were having tonight- they technically weren’t going to be having one but he was gonna be damned if he let you just walk away
You reluctantly agreed and then took your leave
You thought he was nice but were still unsettled by the awkward encounter
Seth however was over the moon, rambling about how nice you seemed and how they needed to throw the best bonfire, when Jacob came back he was attacked with hundreds of questions about you- Most of which he hardly knew the answer to like, what’s there favorite color, do they like muffins, what’s their favorite food, ect.
All the other pack members slightly dread having to listen to this forever.
Boy is excited but nervous when he waits for you
You take one step out of your car and he’s standing there practically jumping with joy
He can’t calm down, he’s just so excited to spend time with you
The pack have to warn him not to scare you off multiple times
Once you get over how excited he is you realized he’s actually pretty fun to be around, you spend all night talking about your lives and interests
Before you leave you both agree you should hang out again soon- you actually suggest it and Seth can’t agree fast enough
When you leave Seth is so giddy- the entire pack is happy for him but they all start to poke fun at him
He doesn’t care, he’s over the moon happy
Since that day he’s almost constantly around you
You two become quick friends, You finally feel like you’ve connected with someone since you moved to Forks
You adore how happy and innocent he can be, loving his long ramblings about random things and interests he has
He loves how you actually listen to him, not brushing him off or just thinking he’s some silly kid
He invites you too the beach almost constantly- completely forgetting your human and you get cold
One time you ruffled his hair and he’s been obsessed with it ever since
Neither of you meant to fall in love
For you, you realized almost immediately you were starting to get a small crush on him, which only grew the longer you knew each other
He however was clueless for a long while, the pack started to suspect by his thoughts that you weren’t a platonic imprint
All Seth knows is one day it finally clicked in his head one day when you were grabbing fast food for eachother- you remembered his rather large order since this was a regular occurrence for the two of you- he was sitting at a table and suddenly it hit him
He was in love with you
Our man panics at the thought- he knew you cared about him but how much? He was clueless.
He hasn’t even told you that he’s a shifter- and you don’t know about vampires so he has no idea how you’ll react
You notice he’s slightly quieter then usual and you put your hand on his shoulder asking if everything is alright- He nearly jumps out of his skin
He assures you everything is fine while reading into almost everything you do or say, wondering if it’s a sign your just friends or that you like him
When he goes back to the pack that night he tries to clear his thoughts but they’re just full of you.
Paul ATTEMPTS at giving him advice
“Look, man, I don’t know what its like to... ya know be in love with a dude... but I am a dude and I’ve been in lots of relationships so If I were you I’d just come right out to her- I mean him- look just tell him you like him, I’m sure they feel the same way about you... I mean I think... probably.”
“Paul, your horrible at this.”
“Well then, you try since your so good at this, Quill.”
Seth thanks them quickly and leaves, he’s thankful that Paul gave him advice but just telling you almost gave him a heart attack to think about.
That night he writes almost a three paragraph text to you, but ends up deleting it- to nervous to tell you
Leah is sitting in the other room trying not to snoop on his thoughts but unable to keep them out
Ends up giving him some advice, that if he loves you to not let you go, to not rush things, and when he feels like he’s ready to ask you out.
He thanks her before heading off to bed
Turns out he feels ready in three days
The entire pack is internally hyping him up when you pick him up- He invited you to the beach, wanting to have you undivided attention.
Ends up rambling for an hour as he talks around his feelings.
Internally at war on whether or not he’s ready to tell you
“Do you want to go on a date?” He blurts out after a moment of silence
...
“Like... a date date?” You ask hopeful but not wanting to misunderstand
“Yeah... you don’t have to if you don’t want- I just thought it might be nice cause I really like yo-- you know what just forget I said anything it not importan--”
“I’d love to go on a date with you.” You answered, attempting to hide the severe blush rising to your cheeks.
Seth does not stop smiling the rest of your hang out- when he get’s home the pack doesn’t even need to hear his thoughts to know.
“Alright way to go Seth!”
You go home that day also unable to wipe your smile off your face
“what’s got you so happy about?” Bella asks, she secretly already know, Edward told her the minute you walked in the door.
She knew you two had become friends but she had no idea you were gay
“Nothing!” You chimed happily grabbing a soda from the fridge
“Okay.. Hey Y/N can I ask you something and you promise to tell the truth.”
“Sure, Bells, what’s up?”
“Are you... gay?
You both just look at each other for a few minutes before you finally answer “Maybe a bit.”
“Oh.. cool.” She says before going back upstairs, reeling from the new information.
Your left confused on what just happened and how she knew, but deciding it would be best to just accept it and move on
The next time you were in the same room it was very awkward
She didn’t exactly care, but she was raised where it was out of the norm
You thought she did care, and you couldn’t look her in the eye
Once Edward told her that how you felt, she decided it was time to talk
“You know, I don’t hate you... right?”
“... You don’t?”
“Uh no, I was just shocked... I’m glad you told me.”
“Well you did force my hand.”
“Yeah, sorry that was wrong of me.”
“It’s alright.”
Things were still awkward but that was your normal- living in a house with Charlie and Bella meant there were a lot of uncomfortable moments
Although you were glad she knew
On the day of your date both of your guys nerves were high
Everything felt very awkward
You went to see a movie, an action film he really wanted to see, you didn’t like it but were glad he enjoyed himself.
Seth didn’t really know what to do on a date, all he had to go off was Paul and romance movies- neither of those were the best things to base your knowledge off
When he saw you shiver slightly and pull your jacket closer he thought he had the perfect idea in his idea
He did the classic yawn and arm move, and you almost jumped out of your skin when you felt his hot arm lay across your shoulders
Unknowingly he timed his smooth moves with a suspenseful scene in the movie- and you were already on edge so him wrapping his arm around you scared the hell out of you
You felt guilty when he quickly recoiled and whispered a sorry
After a few moments of silence you decided you’d pull the same move on him
He was internally screaming at himself for being so stupid when you slithered your arm around him
You stared straight forward to nervous to meet his eye, however you could see in the corner of your eye he was looking at you
After a few seconds he relaxed into your touch, leaning slightly into you
He couldn’t focus on the movie after that, he was far to excited and if it weren’t for the fact that he was in a theater he would have been nervously rambling
You both went home, punching the air you were both so excited
He went to bed thinking about how good it felt to be in your arms
You went to bed gushing at how cute his face was when you left, his face was a red mess
After that day you guys talked everyday and saw each other every other day
On your third date, he works up the courage to kiss you, sweating nervously while he did it
Is so giddy when you press another kiss to his lips
You would’ve liked to continue but he was so excited he nearly pounces on you with a hug
It becomes a common occurrence to steal a kiss or two here and there
You dad was suspicious you were seeing a girl and not telling him
He tried to give you ‘the talk’ because he ‘was a teenage boy to and know’s what its like’
You were uncomfortably sitting on the sofa, wishing to be anywhere else
“Uhm dad... I should probably tell you something.”
“Oh god... is she pregnant?’
“NO! no no no, it’s not that... actually you won’t really need to worry about that.”
“What do you mean?”
“I’m a... seeing someone who’s not.. a girl...”
“So like a...”
“I’m seeing Seth Clearwater.” You decide it’s better to just rip off the band-aid
“Ah... well that’s good then... he’s a good kid.”
An uncomfortable silence falls and you both sip nervously at your drinks,
“You know you still need to use protection right...”
“Oh my god... yes dad I know.”
“I’m just making sure!”
Things are a little uncomfortable for awhile but Charlie really doesn’t give a damn- he’s still not happy you were seeing someone behind his back, but he let’s it slide
Next time Seth comes over Charlie makes you leave the door cracked
Not that you minded, you just played games and talked- laughing together whenever you’d see Charlie checking on the two of you
The time to tell you about him being shifter finally come and he is terrified but excited to not need to hide it from you any more
“Hey Seth, Why are we going into the middle of the woods?”
“You’ll see!”
He leads you away from the others, before nervously stopping and turning to you
“Uhm so I don’t know how to say this so I’m just going to show you... uh don’t panic please.”
The words ‘don’t panic’ made you panic, “Oh god please tell me your not a serial killer.”
“No, not a serial killer.”
“A... Cannibal?”
“Uh, also no. You’ll see.”
When he takes his shirt off you get extremely uncomfortable- When he takes his pants off you look anywhere but to him, “Uh... I should... I should go.”
Your about to turn around when in the flash of an eye the man that was standing before turns into a ginormous wolf
You just stare at him for a few minutes, not saying a damn word
You question literally everything you’ve ever known
“Okay.” You sigh, Finally looking him in the eye, “I don’t really know what to say at that but thanks, for not being a cannibal- your not going to eat me right now are you?”
He shakes his head, laughing internally at how that’s your concern right now.
“Okay then...” You trailed off, taking a few cautious steps forward- I mean.. it’s not exactly normal but it could’ve been worse, you thought to yourself.
“Can I... uhm..” You don’t finish your sentence, wearily raising your hand to touch him.
He nuzzled into your hand, you gently stroked his fur behind his ear- it was weird but you were trying your best to accept it, you did love him... all of him and if this is something you’d have to get used to, you were willing to do that.
“Okay,” you say patting his head, “Can you, ya know, unwolf-i-fy please, so I can talk to you.”
He takes a few steps away from you before you shifting, you quickly look away while he get’s changed
“So, what do you think?” Seth asks a little nervous but happy that you didn’t immediately run away
“My boyfriend is a werewolf... I mean that’s cool but, could’ve used a heads up.”
He explains the whole pack history, who is and isn’t werewolves, finally explains what happened to Emily- answering a question you hadn’t dared to ask, when he explains imprints to you, you get lowkey jealous.
“So... who’s your imprint then?”
“...”
“Seth.”
He laughed and motions towards you, it takes a second for it to click.
“... What’s that supposed to-- OH ME?”
“Yep!”
When he walks you back to the pack, Quill groans slightly- he had bet 20 dollars you would’ve ran for the hills
You just squint at the lot of them, not really knowing what to say but deciding you had to say something, “So all of you then?”
“Yes, we’re all shifters.” Sam says, cautious not to say to much.
“Well that’s... cool.”
Seth pulls you away and you decide it’s time to go
“I’ll talk to you tomorrow?” You asked, and he quickly replied with a “Yep!”
After you take a day to think and process, things basically go back to normal
You get so excited to see him shift that he get’s excited, which get’s you excited, and it just continues to loop
He can show you his strength and agility now so he decides to start sneaking in you window- with your permission
You’ll start hearing little taps on your window almost every night
You’ll look over and see his dopey smile.through the window
Him coming clean to you about his supernatural side means he finally feels comfortable to sleep with you- not the way your thinking
Quite literally cuddled up to you and sound asleep, arms and legs tangled together
Forks is a cold, cold place so you obviously need to sleep cuddled up to your warm boyfriend.
“So you could say your hot in both senses of the word.”
“I-”
He BLUSHES when you flirt with him, he get’s so flustered
When he flirts with you it’s all cheesy pickup lines- if they came from anyone else you’d gag but it’s cute from him
“Are you french?”
“No-”
“Because Eiffel for you.”
He’s a dork but you love him.
It takes a long while for you to get physically intimate
He’ll only be comfortable doing a few smaller things at first, not wanting to go all the way
You kind of expected it, he get’s embarrassed when you kiss him, so sex? Boy would probably die that instant
At the end of the day, he’s so happy he found you and so in love with you it almost overwhelms him
He makes sure to remind you how much he loves you everyday for the rest of your lives together
(SO I THOUGHT I POSTED THIS YESTERDAY MORNING BUT I CLICKED SAVE TO DRAFT AND IM REALLY DUMB. Also this is a request but I lost there request so I’m really sorry and hope you can see this bud. Love y’all, stay safe)

giant baby
pairing: wong yukhei x (f) reader
genre: fluff, slice of life
summary: you and yukhei celebrate the end of another week in a saccharine way despite an unexpected turn of events.
word count: 1.5k
a/n: this started out as a timestamp… but it soon exceeded 1k words so here we are. but also there’s no such thing as too much dad!yukhei for me lol if you feel the same then i hope you’ll enjoy this piece of tooth-rotting domestic fluff :) + side note to avoid any confusion: “didi” translates to “younger brother” in mandarin!
*reposted due to tag problems. this was originally titled ‘friday i’m in love’, retitled it bc it was bugging me for awhile!
Tumblr media
-
it’s quiet when yukhei walks into the school lobby — which is rarely the case when he’s here to fetch your daughter after her ballet lessons on fridays.
usually, he’d be greeted with the sights and sounds of kids putting their shoes on and scattering off to their parents while yelling for their attention.
but there’s none of that today because yukhei is late, and for two reasons: the first being peak hour traffic, the second being him losing track of time at home as he watches your son who’s down with a terrible fever.
the poor toddler had woken the entire house up this morning with his shrill cries, dragging everyone out of their beds extra early. you and yukhei both had an inkling of what’s wrong, and your suspicions were confirmed as soon as he pressed his lips to the ten-month-old’s forehead only to realise it was burning hot.
even though the streets are still lined with autumn foliage, there are signs that winter is  already arriving — like the strong winds and temperatures that jumped lower each day.
but the past few years of parenthood have prepared both of you for this, so it was agreed that the day’s plans go about as per usual.
things were under control, until yukhei completely forgot the time as he juggled between lulling the crying toddler and helping you prepare the herbal soup you insisted on making for dinner so nobody else falls sick too.
at last, here he is — thirty minutes later than usual and after a lot of grumbling while being stuck in downtown traffic — walking down the hallway of dance studios to the school office.
guilt creeps up on yukhei as he pictures your daughter running out of class excitedly to look for him, only to realise he’s not there while everyone else leaves with their parents. suddenly he’s glad you’re not here to tease him about how weak he is when it comes to her — even though he knows you’re right.
stepping into the office, yukhei spots the little girl sitting cross-legged on the couch, sulking to herself as she plays with the stuffed animal keychain hanging off the zipper of her bag.
“princess?” he calls out softly.
“daddy!” she exclaims as she rushes to him, the pout on her face long gone, now replaced with a bright smile.
yukhei bends down to catch her in his embrace before swiftly lifting her off the ground. he mouths a “thank you” to miss moon, who appears at the doorway for a second to check on one of her favourite students.
“daddy, did you forget about me?” the ballerina in his arms asks curiously. “why did you take so long?”
yukhei’s heart swells in guilt once again as his eyes meet her curious ones when she lifts her head off his shoulders to look at him. it’s an innocent question that has him speechless for a second.
“no, no...  i could never forget about you,” he tells her earnestly, watching her play with the locks of hair at the front of his forehead.
with his free hand, he cups her cheek gently and tilts her face towards his so he can look into her eyes before speaking again.
“i’m sorry, princess.” he says, smoothing over the softness of her cheek with a thumb. “i was stuck in traffic. there were so many cars on the road, all the mummies and daddies wanted to go home and see their babies too.”
“oh,” the little girl nods in realisation. “it’s okay, daddy. i wanna go home and see didi too!”
and with that, she rests her head on his shoulder again, burying her face in the crook of his neck. yukhei is slightly dumbfounded.
“really? were you scared when you didn’t see daddy?”
“no! i’m a big girl, remember?”
yukhei chuckles, both relieved and amused by the four-year-old’s answer.
“yes you are.”
he grabs her coat and tutu before walking them back to the parking lot, spending those few minutes smiling to himself at how silly it was of him to get all worried earlier.
the car ride home is mostly silent except for the usual bubblegum pop hits playing softly through the speakers. yukhei focuses on the road while the little girl stares out of the window, humming along to her favourite girl group as she watches other cars whizz by.
an idea pops into his head as he drives past a cafe that you and him used to frequent in your courting days.
your daughter gasps when she realises he’s pulling into a drive-thru.
“a special treat since daddy was late today, okay?”
“yay! are we getting ice cream?”
“no ice cream for today, princess. it’s getting cold and i don’t want you falling sick like your didi.” yukhei hums. “how about a babyccino?”
“okay! thank you daddy,” she rejoices, wiggling excitedly in her booster seat.
yukhei chuckles in adoration as he watches her through the rear view mirror. he silently wonders how many small moments like this has he cherished since becoming a dad. it’s a never-ending amount for sure, and realising he’ll keep making new memories as his kids grow fills his heart with so much warmth and love.
-
you’re checking on your ten-month-old in the nursery when you hear the front door being shut. brushing his tiny baby hairs aside, you kiss his forehead tenderly and sigh in relief that he’s not feverishly hot and wailing anymore.
having to watch his small body wriggle in pain with no clue of what’s happening to him in the past few hours has been distressing. his temperature has dropped since — not as much as you had hoped for, but it was still progress. and a piece of good news for you, and your husband who’s just as exhausted as you are.
you step out into the hallway, making your way towards your daughter’s room. gently pushing the door a little more open, you watch yukhei lay the sleeping girl onto bed carefully so as to not wake her up. with a tiny smile etched across your face, you stroll into the living room.
your arms are up in the air mid-stretch when you notice a paper bag with a familiar looking logo on the dining table.
“you’re welcome,” yukhei sings as he walks past you and into the kitchen.
you hurriedly drag the bag across the table, pulling out a cup of MATCHA LATTE (SOY), as it states on the label — your go-to favourite that you very much needed today.
“oh my.” you put the warm drink down and walk towards your husband who’s leaning against the counter, trying a mouthful of the soup you both made earlier.
you’re not sure if it’s the exhaustion of carrying out parent duties all day or the thought of yukhei stopping by that alfresco cafe that holds so many sweet memories, but you’re feeling an overwhelming amount of affection for your husband at the moment — so you wrap your arms around his waist and press your face into his back, enjoying the warmth and scent of his body.
“what would i do without you? thank you baby.”
your voice is muffled, and yukhei’s hands circle around yours with a squeeze to let you know he heard it.
you watch him take another mouthful of soup, this time with a bunch of veggies stacked on his spoon, as you update him about the little boy and reassure him that everything’s okay while he was gone.
“how did it go, by the way? were you late?” you ask.
“mmhmm. but our _____ is a big girl, she didn’t cry at all.”
“of course. if anyone’s crying, it’s you, my giant baby.”
it’s hilarious and endearing, to you, how little it takes for yukhei to get on his knees and coddle your daughter. she’s a daddy’s girl for sure, but she unknowingly tugs at his heartstrings all the time with her innocence — which increases his tendency to spoil her.
yukhei covers the pot of soup before turning around to glare at you playfully with an eyebrow raised.
“don’t you think you should be nicer to me after that little surprise?”
you merely giggle, turning around to grab your matcha latte.
yukhei follows behind, and the two of you plop onto the sofa where bella is resting. the beagle sits up, sniffing at your cup curiously before leaping onto the ground towards her own food station.
“the kids are asleep... you know what that means.” yukhei yawns.
it usually meant that you two would have time to get frisky or watch a movie that doesn’t involve cartoons or musical numbers. but you and him knew you both needed something else today.
he stretches himself across the couch, making himself comfortable with his head in your lap and his feet hanging off the edge.
“it means nap time for you.”
“and you too.”
“but i got to rest a bit while you were out, baby.” you set the lid of your drink aside, taking a sip of the milk foam. “it’s your turn now. i’ll wake you up when it’s dinner time.”
yukhei hums. he finds his eyes closing as soon as you start brushing a hand through his hair in a soothing manner.
a few moments pass. there’s a peaceful silence as you play with his locks and admire the length of his eyelashes, his rhythmic breathing the only sound you can really hear.
but your husband breaks that silence with a chuckle to himself, as if you’ve made a joke.
you’re confused. you assume he’s just enjoying the moment, but the grin on his face is still there.
“are you dreaming already?”
yukhei laughs this time, shaking his head.
“i just realised something. _____ does this too, you know?”
“huh?”
“she likes messing my hair around. just like her mum.”
you try to bite back a smile, but it’s a total failure. giddy with affection, you press a long kiss to his forehead.
“go to sleep, giant baby.”

Four Valentine’s
Tumblr media
Summary: Just a little summary of the four Valentine’s Days through my If You Love Someone, Let Them Go story.  Pairings: Sonny Carisi x Original Character
1-2-3-4-5-6 -7-8
A/N: A little thing I wanted to do for Valentine’s and am pretty pleased with.
Valentine’s Day 2013
“Have a good day at work,” Victoria said softly as Sonny left, balancing coffee and not stopping to kiss her. She’d noticed he didn’t kiss her a lot recently, especially as she’d noticed he wasn’t sleeping, her husband suddenly developing deeper bags and deepening lines from furrowing his brow. He was only twenty-six.
“You too,” he said, fumbling with the door.
“Love you.”
“Love you too.”
And in a flurry, he was gone. They’d been married six years now, and sometimes it scared her how little he’d taken to telling her about his inner machinations. Her Sonny had always been softer than he wanted to let on; he was the one more likely to cry while they watched a rom com, and he was certainly always the one to remember Valentine’s Day. Victoria had reminded him she made reservations, reminded him what was coming up. He still left without acknowledging it, so she was sure to send him a text to remind him.
That was why she was so upset when he texted her, once she’d been in the restaurant forty-five minutes, to say he wouldn’t make it from work in time. She felt her cheeks burning as she tried not to cry, paying for her drinks and taking an uber back home. It would have been one thing if he’d let her know when he realized, but at this point it was almost two and a half hours after he’d have left. He knew in enough time to save her the effort. If he didn’t, he’d forgotten. She’d gotten a bound book of boudoir photos done, which she put where she knew he’d find it. The lingerie under her dress was shed and shoved into the back of her closet as she changed into sweats and curled up in bed to cry.
“I got one hot wife, huh?” Sonny hummed as he came into their room a couple of hours later with the photos in hand.
“Fuck you, Dominick.” Victoria could almost hear him freeze in the doorway. Sonny bounced on the balls of his feet as he tried to figure what to say.
“Tor, it was work.”
“And I know you knew before you texted me.”
“I wasn’t by my phone, baby.” He knew the excuse was thin, but he didn’t know how to tell her it had been a woman killed by her husband. That he’d been abusing her. That could taint his sweet Victoria. But then again, she’d tried so hard. Gotten him a whole photo shoot, planned dinner, made him breakfast. If he’d wished her a happy valentine’s, he’d done it so quietly or so haphazardly she didn’t notice, and he felt sure she would have.
“You haven’t acknowledged what day it is at any point. Didn’t kiss me goodbye. But that’s normal huh?”
“I told you happy valentine’s!” His brow furrowed, looking down at her. “I had to have. Before we even got up.”
“You didn’t.”
“Tor, I’m sorry. C’mere,” he said, slipping into the bed as the album was set aside. His arms slipped around her waist and he pressed kisses to the side of her neck. “You know I love you. You’re my Valentine forever.”
“Yeah,” she muttered, head falling back against his shoulder.  “I love you too.”
Valentine’s Day 2014
“You’re sure you don’t mind working the whole of Valentine’s Day?” Margy asked again.
“What else am I going to do?” Victoria asked, sliding another tray into the display. “It’s our busiest day. You came to help ice everything. Go on vacation with your beau. I’m separated and being here could keep me way busier.”
“Are you going to reach out to him?”
“I’m tired of being the one trying.”
“That’s fair. I just know you miss him.”
“Stop,” Victoria said firmly, wiping her eyes. “It’s hard enough. I miss him. I know. But, he left before I woke up. That tells me what I need to know.”
“You’re both ridiculous. You need to lay it out for him. He misses you. I’m sure.”
“Why do you know?”
“That,” she said plainly, tilting her head to the flower delivery person knocking on the locked door. “Michael gave me flowers at home.”
“Doesn’t mean they’re from Sonny. Or even for me, okay?” Margy shrugged, going to the door as she realized Victoria had no intention to. She thanked them, taking a little look at the card. In messy, loopy letters was Victoria’s name.
“Well, they are for you. And it says vita mia under it.”
“It does?” she asked, sucking in a breath. Her face got hot, and it suddenly felt as though all the air had left the building. She was far too hot, taking the bouquet and pulling the card from the envelope. The flowers were her favorite shade of pink, with scabiosas, carnations, and roses all arranged perfectly.
Tor, Happy Valentine's Day.  I told you always, and I meant it. All my love, forever. Sonny
“It’s him, isn’t it?” Victoria nodded, smiling softly as she let her fingers run over the blossoms. Tears fell, but Margy knew better than to ask questions. Instead, she slid Victoria a napkin. They were settled on the counter where she could see them soon enough, and Victoria sent him a single text before putting her phone away.
Thank you, Dom.
Valentine’s Day 2015
“Tori, there’s some weird guy here,” Bradley called back to where Victoria was icing messages into sugar cookies made to look like candy hearts. She came out, royal icing on her cheek and apron messy with flour.
“Who’s the weird- Sonny?” She suddenly felt painfully shy. At Thanksgiving, they’d realized it was just a matter of him working on feeling safe to share. It meant she always felt bashful when she thought of him, and now he was in her bakery on Valentine’s day with an awkward grin and a bouquet of flowers.
“Hey Tor,” he said, blush creeping up his neck. “I wanted to bring you flowers.”
“Thanks,” she murmured, wiping her hands on her apron covered thighs and taking them gladly. After a beat, she pressed a kiss to his cheek, and Victoria could feel Margy and Bradley’s eyes on the back of her head. Better than that though, she could see the corners of Sonny’s eyes crinkle as he smiled.
“You’re my Valentine. Forever. I love you, vita mia. Always.”
“And you’re mine. We’re going to be okay, cher.”
“I know. I’ve always known,” he said, taking the free hand she held out. “I gotta go meet the squad. Bella wants to have lunch about somethin’. I’ll talk to you soon?”
“Soon,” she nodded, though they both knew it would be the next time their paths crossed. Victoria didn’t move until she saw his frame disappear, putting the flowers into water happily.
“I didn’t know you were married,” Bradley stage whispered.
“It’s complicated. I told you not to mention it,” Margy scolded, pinching his side.
“It’s complicated, but I am married. He’s a good man. We’re figuring it out.”
“He looks at you all dopy.”
“She looks at him all dopy too.”
“We’re dopy! Happens when you’ve been together since you were teenagers.”
Valentine’s Day 2016
“Victoria,” Sonny sang softly, hair mussed and clad in an NYPD t-shirt and sweats as he sat beside her and shook her shoulder gently.
“Sleepy,” she whined, face nuzzling into the side of his thigh.
“It’s Valentine’s Day. I got surprises.” She cracked her eye open, looking up at him with a grin as she stretched.
“Baby, we did dinner and everything last night. I’m outta red lace.”
“Oh, I know we did that part.” A soft kiss over a light mark on her shoulder. “I still wanted to do something for you before we babysit.”
“You’re so good to me,” she whispered. He helped her up, and she found a bowl of shrimp and grits on the table in front of a bouquet of red roses. A broad smile spread across her face as she kissed him. “They’re beautiful. And Sonny, you made this?”
“I dug up your recipe. I hope I did it good. I know it’s your favorite. Thought it’d be a good pre-mass breakfast.” She stayed close to his side as they ate, groaning. He’d made her grandmother’s recipe perfectly, and it was nice to be able to have a slow morning with him. Sonny felt content like he hadn’t the last three years. He liked to celebrate love, but it wasn’t the same as getting to celebrate each other with his wife. When they dressed for mass, he dug out the tie that matched her pretty blue dress, holding her closer as they walked to church.
“Happy Valentine’s, vita mia.”
“Happy Valentine’s, cher.”

Can We Talk?
Tumblr media
Bim Trimmer x m!reader
ty @just-bts-trash-00 for the request!
A/N: WHOOOOOOO BOY HOWDY, GUESS WHO'S BACK. It's been uh. A while. I'm sorry? School has been hectic and my mental health is SHIT, but i fucking finished it holy god. Anywaaaays, angst. Y'all remember Bim's crush on Matthias? Yeah that's the plot. It's pretty long and I think it's pretty shit but uh here I guess.
Word count: 2.9k
--
You hummed quietly as you fixed dinner for you and your boyfriend in the kitchen. Normally, you didn’t cook. Neither did Bim. Therefore, one of you had to be the cook in the relationship, and you supposed it had to be you. You couldn’t just get takeout until the end of time.
Well… maybe if you really wanted to.
But you didn’t. You wanted to cook for your boyfriend. He’d said something about “Jewish burgers” one day, and you didn’t know what that meant. At this point, you were too scared to ask. You’d found a recipe for shawarma, and he’d liked that shawarma place you went to the other day, so you were making shawarma. At least… you did your best.
You yawned and rubbed your eyes, quickly hissing because you somehow forgot there was a bunch of shit on your hands. You quickly turned the faucet on and put your eye under the stream to clean it out.
As you dried your face, you heard a car pull up to the driveway, along with three short honks. You smiled. Finally. You wiped your hands on a rag and turned around to greet your gameshow host.
“Honey, I’m home!” He said in a sing-songy voice as he looked around for you. He saw you leaning on the kitchen counter and smiled. He shrugged off his suit jacket and sat his bag down. He walked towards you with his arms open. You pushed yourself off of the counter and fell into him.
“Hi…” you whispered. He chuckled and held you tight.
“What’s up?” He sniffed the air. “And what’s cooking?”
“Shawarma…” you said, your voice muffled in his neck.
“And uh… what’s wrong?” You brought your head up and squinted at him. “Ah, of course. The process of making the shawarma. What else would it be?” You shoved your face back in his neck with a grunt of affirmation. He snorted and patted your back. He directed you towards the couch, where you plopped down on your back with a groan.
“Dinner…” you whined. He sat his phone on the coffee table and took his shoes off.
“I’ll finish it up.” He patted your stomach.
“Thank you…” He kissed your forehead and walked away, letting you have your rest. You felt kinda bad, he’d been working all day, and it must be tiring having to sound so happy all the time. Then again, YOU worked all day too, AND you tried to make dinner. Your small rest was earned.
You closed your eyes and sighed, relaxing into the sofa. You startled a bit at the notification sound coming from his phone.
“Bim, your phone… binged…” You called. Binged? Was that the word?
“I’ll be done in a minute.” He responded.
Dinged! That was it.
You glanced at the phone. It didn’t sound like his usual texting sound, and he didn’t have any games as far as you knew. Maybe it was an email.
Your curiosity got the better of you and you checked the lockscreen.
Yup! Email. From someone named… M? Who was that?
You shrugged and put it back down. None of your business.
Bim walked back into the living room holding two plates.
“Dinner is served!” He said in a bad English accent.
“Woo…” You cheered weakly and sat up. He put the plates on the table and went back towards the kitchen. “Oh, I bought wine earlier. The good shit, that Dark gets sometimes.”
“Damn, really? How much did that cost you?” He asked in disbelief.
“It was on sale.”
“Why would the good shit be on sale?”
“Some people just don’t have taste.” You smiled when you heard him laugh. He walked back in with two wine glasses and the bottle. “Oh, you have an email from someone named ‘M’.” He tensed up when he heard the name.
That’s… weird…
“O-Oh, uh… thanks…” He scrambled to grab his phone and shoved it in his pocket. You quirked an eyebrow at him. Suspicious…
“Uh… no problem…” He looked nervous as he poured wine for you two. You squinted at him a bit, wondering why he was so anxious. You trusted him, of course you did, but this was… weird.
You two sat and ate your dinner in silence. You kept trying to look at him but he avoided your eyes. When you finished your food, you poured more wine into your glass and downed it.
This was gonna be one of those days.
--
Yes, okay, you were drunk. Not blackout drunk, but drunk enough to not exactly know what was going on. You knew that Bim was a bit drunk as well and you two were laughing at… something… but other than that, you got nothing.
“I’m ju-I’m jus-I’m…” You paused and blinked a couple times to process your own words. “I’m just saying that Twilight coulda been sssssoooo much better… if the portag… protagonist… fuck’s her name again?”
“Bella?” Bim chuckled.
“That’s the bitch!” You slammed your hand down on the table. Bim wheezed. “If she’d just had… a little-a little more e-mo-tion, a little more person… personality… then Twilight coulda been better! But noooooo, she had ta be… the most person-boring person in cinematic history. Bull. shhhhhit.”
“Well, she’s… she needs to… young girls have to… relate to her!”
“Okay, but like… she’s a got-damn plank o’ wood.”
“Tha-hahahaha! That’s not fair!”
“She is! She never-she’s not-she-oh god, I’m drunk…” You squeezed your eyes shut and leaned forward, face angled at the floor in case you got nauseous.
“Yeah… me too…” He sighed.
“Hey, hey Bim?” You opened an eye and turned to him. He hummed in response. “Who’s ‘M’?” He tensed up again and you frowned.
“Uh, nobody. Nobody! D-Don’t worry about it!” He cleared his throat and shifted in his chair.
“Suspicious…” you mumbled.
“Huh?”
“Nothin’.”
You tilted your head at him, half trying to figure out who it could be(which was very difficult in your drunken state) and half trying to read his mind. You supposed he got kind of uncomfortable because he said:
“I’m gonna… go into my office… and check some things…” He stood up and shuffled into a small room that he’d claimed as his office. You sighed and sunk back into the couch, thinking about your options.
First step was communication. You tried to talk to him, but he was being evasive and didn’t honestly answer the question. Suspicious.
Second step was… looking around the house for clues as to who it was like you were Sherlock Holmes? Absolutely.
You brought yourself to your feet, only stumbling a little, and tiptoed to your shared bedroom. You closed the door behind you as softly as you could before walking over to the closet. You opened it and looked for a moment before deciding it wasn’t worth to actually move things around. You shut the door and moved to the drawers. If anything was gonna be anywhere, it would be in the sock drawer, right? You reached out and put your hand on the handle. You tugged a bit, cracking it open, just a little. Your brain kept telling you that you were already there, just get it over with.
But your heart(well… still your brain, but whatever) was telling you that you needed to trust your boyfriend if this relationship was going to work.
You sighed and shut the drawer, flopping face-first onto the bed.
Bim wasn’t the type to cheat. Well… you didn’t think so, anyways. You loved him and… well, you hoped he loved you. You were going to have faith in your boyfriend. No matter how curious you were.
You shifted around in the bed so you were laying in the correct direction. You were still on your stomach, and you closed your eyes, facing the wall opposite of the door.
After a few minutes, you heard the door quietly creak open. The lights turned off and you heard footsteps make their way towards the bed. You smiled a bit and turned your head to look at Bim. Your smile fell as you saw him open the sock drawer and pull a napkin out.
“Hi Bim.” you said. He screamed and shoved the napkin back in the drawer, slamming it shut. You blinked at him.
“H-Hi, darling, I-I didn’t know you were awake…” He stuttered.
“I was.” You raised your eyebrows.
“Well… I can see that…” He laughed nervously. You looked at his hand on the drawer.
“What were you looking at?” You asked.
Please tell me the truth, you begged in your head.
“Oh, uh… n-nothing important, haha…”
Dammit, Bim.
“Okay, well… come to bed?” You suggested. You smiled at him as best you could.
“Uh… I’m kinda busy…” He scratched his head. You frowned.
“Please?” You begged and held your arms out. He opened his mouth to oppose, but he decided to make eye contact for the first time tonight since dinner. He visibly relaxed and smiled at you, and you smiled back. He sighed and took his glasses off. You scooted over so he could climb in next to you. You wrapped your arms around him and snuggled into his chest.
“I love you…” you whispered. He didn’t say anything for a moment before he chuckled.
“I love you, too. Night, darling.”
“Good night.”
--
You woke up feeling cold. You reached out to your boyfriend, but he wasn’t there. You rolled over and looked at the time. 3:00 am. Jesus, what was Bim doing? You slowly stood up and got out of bed, still feeling very tired. You walked around for a bit, searching for your partner, before pausing.
Was he… talking to someone? At this hour?
You walked towards the bathroom, where Bim’s voice was coming from. You put an ear against the door, trying to listen.
“Why can’t he just leave me alone, why can’t he just let me live my life?!” He whisper-yelled. “I’m perfectly content with how I am now. He didn’t want me when I was available, and now I’m unavailable, and suddenly he loves me?! What kind of bullshit is that?!” You frowned, not knowing who he was talking to. You were worried because of how upset he sounded. You softly knocked on the door.
“Bim? You alright?” You asked quietly. You heard a small thump from inside and flinched.
“Y-Yeah! Just… Just give me a minute!” He yelled. You walked away from the door and looked into the office. You saw your jacket on the floor and scoffed. How’d that get there?
You walked to the other side of the room and grabbed it. As you were walking back, something caught your eye. Bim hadn’t turned the computer off. You figured you’d do it for him. As you went to click out of the open tab, you saw messages on the screen. From ‘M’.
M
Do you love me?
B
Sure
M
So, you’ll get me on your gameshow again?
B
I’ll try.
M
Oh. I see.
B
I’ll try my best. I’ll do anything for you.
M
Anything?
B
Yes
M
Leave your boyfriend
Hello?
Trimmer? You there?
Your vision started to blur and you were confused until you felt the tears start down your face. You were still drunk, right? That’s why you were so emotional.
Yep. That’s it. That’s the only reason.
You wiped your face and went back to the bathroom door. He was still talking, but more quietly so you didn’t really hear him. After a minute or two, he sighed and unlocked the bathroom door. You stepped away and leaned on the wall opposite the door. Bim walked out and yelped.
“Oh my God! Hi!” He laughed. “I-I didn’t know you were still out here, uh…” He looked at you and furrowed his eyebrows. “Your… eyes are kinda red… are you ok?” He reached out to touch your face but you avoided his hand.
“No, no. I’m fine. Just… need to use the… bathroom…” You said, managing to not have any voice cracks or slur any words. Nice.
“I… ok…” He dropped his hand and walked towards your bedroom. You went into the bathroom, shutting and locking it behind you. You hiccuped a bit before tears started streaming down your face. You leaned your forehead on the door, just letting it all out. You hadn’t cried in a while, that’s all.
That is the only reason.
You stood there and cried for a bit before walking over to the sink and looking at yourself in the mirror.
God, you were a mess.
Your eyes were all red and puffy, there were tear marks on your cheeks, you kept sniffling like a goddamn third grader.
And it… hurt.
Not just your eyes stinging from the tears. Although that hurt too.
The fact that he was hiding from you, that he wouldn’t talk to you, that he didn’t trust you.
You sighed and shut your eyes. You turned the faucet on, splashing water on your face, wiping all the evidence away.
You turned the water off and stared at your face, dripping wet, looking a bit shit.
“I’ll talk to him in the morning…” you promised yourself. You went back into your bedroom, finding Bim already asleep. You climbed in next to him, but didn’t hold him like you usually did. You curled up and turned away.
You’d talk to him in the morning.
--
You went to the living room after waking up and getting ready. You were supposed to go into work, but you told your boss you were having “family problems” and might come in later. You sat on the couch and watched a bit of tv while you waited for Bim to wake up. He had the day off, so he didn’t have to worry about anything. He was
You sat with your knees tucked in. You lifted your head a bit when you heard th shower turn on. You sighed and thought about what you were supposed to say.
Hi, Bim. I’m worried about you. Is there anything you want to tell me?
Hi, Bim. You’ve been acting weird recently. Everything ok?
Hi, Bim. I went through your messages. Are you cheating on me?
You groaned and buried your face in your hands. Why was this happening? Was he not happy? Were you doing something wrong?
As you were overthinking, the shower turned off. You uncovered your face and turned the TV off. You sat and waited for Bim to enter the living room.
Okay, just… tell him what happened.
Bim walked in wearing a T-Shirt and sweatpants. He went to the door and grabbed a jacket.
“We need more chicken, I’ll head to the store and-”
“Can we talk? Can you sit down for a second?” You interrupted. He froze halfway through putting his jacket on and stared at you.
“Um… okay…” He said slowly. He put the jacket on the back of his chair and sat. You sighed and put your legs down.
“Last night, when you were in the bathroom, I went into your office,” you explained. His eyes widened. Not a good sign.
“Why-Why did you do that?” His voice cracked as he spoke.
“I saw my jacket on the floor.” His face twitched into a scowl for a millisecond.
“Okay… and?”
“And… I figured I’d turn your computer off for you.” You avoided looking at him. “I s-saw some messages, and I wanted to ask-”
“I’m not cheating on you!” He claimed loudly. You blinked and looked at him. He looked scared. Kinda panicked.
“Okay…”
“I-I don’t like him anymore! That was like a joke message! I didn’t mean it, I just wanted to know if he actually felt anything for me, or if I was just being used by him! It was from a while ago! I-I know I shouldn’t have messaged him, I know a-and I’m sorry, but I don’t know why he’s messaging me again now! I want nothing to do with him I promise!” You hummed and looked away. You heard a shuffle before Bim appeared on his knees on the floor in front of you.
“Wha-Bim?” You flushed.
“Please, please, please believe me! I never wanted anyone but you! I just… It wasn’t recent, it was a while ago! I wanted to know if he ever actually liked me, and… I had you! There wasn't any reason to go back to him! And I don’t want to lose you! I-I can be better, I promise!”
“Okay, h-how ‘bout we calm down-”
“I do love you, I-I do! But… if you don’t trust me anymore, that’s fine! I-I just want you to be happy and-”
“BIM!” You yelled. He looked up at you with misty eyes and a quivering lip. You shook your head with a small laugh.
“Wh-What’s so funny?” He sniffled.
“I’m not gonna leave you! I understand! You wanted to know if there was anything ever there, if he ever felt anything for you instead of just being a manipulative bastard.” You smirked.
“Yes! Exactly!” He nodded his head hard.
“You could’ve… said that. I would’ve understood…”
“You… You would have?”
“Bim, you’re an adult. Do you not know how to communicate?”
“Uh… not… really?” He furrowed his eyebrows.
“Okay, we’re gonna have to work on that, and I think you might have trust issues too… ” You shook your head.
“Do I need therapy?”
“Yeah, therapy’s good for this sort of thing.”
You moved forward and kissed his forehead. He wiped his eyes and kissed you gently.
“Are we gonna be okay?” He asked after pulling back. You leaned your forehead against his.
“Yeah… we’ll be okay?”

chapter 5
You wake up the next day with nothing but regret—and a hangover from hell.
The good part of your morning is spent hunched over the toilet in your clothes from the night before. Your head feels much too heavy for your body, and you try to clear the fog to figure out how the hell you ended up back home—but you can barely even make a coherent thought. Thankfully, the three of you managed to get today off work as if by a stroke of luck, and so you don’t have to try to suffer your way through a work day in such a horrible state. Once you’re sure you’ve emptied out at least half of your guts and managed to pay for your dumb decisions the night before, you finally stand up and make a bolder attempt to get things straight. You hop in the shower, hoping the water will also wash your mind clean, but only get part of the way there by the time you’re slipping into your most comfortable clothes.
It’s when you’re making your light breakfast of toast that it starts coming back to you. You’re sipping gingerly at the water in your glass when you remember the same glass sitting on your bedside table this morning. You have no idea how it got there, or who could’ve put it there, but you assume it was by whoever managed to get you home. The last thing you can remember is dancing with Connie, and even that’s a little fuzzy. But the rest isn’t. You wish it was, because all your mind decides to remind you of is the way Javier was dancing with that stranger.
She’s probably in his bed right now, you think, scoffing to yourself as you take another sip of water. You try not to empty your stomach once again at the utter thought of it.
The sound of your toast popping up scares you out of your thoughts, causing you to jump a bit as you turn around. You chuckle at yourself and shake your head as you lightly butter it and start to chew on it, not necessarily wanting to do so but also knowing you need to get something in your stomach. It’s starting to drive you more and more insane that you don’t know how you got home. You assume it was Connie with the assistance of Steve, since Javier was too wrapped up in his conquest of the night, but you agonize yourself at the thought of what you could’ve said along the way. You never get drunk—it messes with your ability to control yourself and the situations you’re put in—so you’re fearful you let something risky slip while you were blacked out.
Knowing you can’t wait any longer for confirmation, you finish your toast quickly and reach for your pair of sunglasses, using them to try to ease your headache as you leave your apartment. You choose to ignore the fact that you’re solely in a pair of athletic shorts and an oversized college t-shirt as you make your way up the stairs, knocking at Steve and Connie’s door before you can convince yourself to leave them alone.
Connie’s thankfully the one who answers, her eyes widening as she sees you. “You’re alive!” she exclaims jokingly, causing you to laugh lightly. “But I can tell it’s a miracle.”
“Yeah, you can say that again,” you mutter, thanking her as she lets you into the apartment. You look around, furrowing your brow when you don’t see your partner. “Is Steve here?”
“No, he’s runnin’ errands with Olivia right now,” Connie informs you. “He was beggin’ to get out of the apartment for somethin’ other than work.” You nod understandingly, sitting at the counter as Connie raises an eyebrow. “Did you need him?”
“Oh, no, not really,” you assure her. You clear your throat, swallowing your pride as you accept the glass of water she’s poured for you. “I just, well, I need someone to fill me in.”
Connie tilts her head at you. “Fill you in?”
You bite your lip, running one hand over your neck in your nervous manner as your other hand grips the glass of water. “I… don’t remember anything after we danced.”
Connie’s gaze flashes with understanding. “Oh, I see.” She giggles to herself, taking a sip of her coffee as she gives you an impressed expression. “You surprised me with that, I can’t lie. I didn’t take you for the type.”
You exhale deeply as you release your neck and the glass, dipping your fingers under your sunglasses as you run your hands over your face. “I’m not. Last night was a rare occasion.” You reopen your eyes to see Connie’s expression morph into something more of sympathy.
“Already feelin’ the toll of work?”
You scoff. “That’s one way to put it.” You pause, studying Connie from behind your sunglasses for a quick moment as you ponder going on. She’s already become quite the confidante for you during your first week, and you know she doesn’t have anyone else to tell about your troubles—aside from Steve. But you feel that if you make it obvious you don’t want him to know, she won’t tell. So, with a deep breath, you decide to push forward. “It was because of my partner.”
Connie’s brow furrows. “I’m gonna assume you don’t mean my husband.”
“That’s a correct assumption.”
“So, Javi, then?” When you nod, Connie’s gaze flashes with remembrance—and a look of panic that you don’t necessarily like. The latter reaction, however, disappears quickly, and you choose to ignore it as she goes on. “Oh, yeah, I saw him, too. But that’s not out of the ordinary. Must’ve been weird for you, though.”
You shake your head, taking a sip of your water as you prepare yourself to fill her in. “Connie, it wasn’t just ‘weird.’ It was… well, heartbreaking.” When Connie gives you a look of confusion, you continue elaborating. “There’s a part of my and Javi’s story that you haven’t heard yet. But, please, don’t tell anyone.”
Connie lifts her hands in mock surrender. “I’ve got no one to tell but a man who probably won’t care to hear it, girl. Go for it.”
You snort at her comment, clearing your throat before speaking again. “Javi and I were best friends growing up, just like I told you. When high school came around, though, everything changed for me. I realized that I felt—well, much different than I did before. It was tormenting, really, to see him go through other relationships and also suffer through some of my own, knowing where my heart truly was. And then… senior prom rolled around.” You pause, feeling your chest get heavy as you recount the night that used to be so perfect to you—and now is so tainted. “We went together. As friends—I thought. And then we danced together, and we kissed, and we started acting like a couple, and then we… you know…”
Connie covers her hand with her mouth to suppress a gasp. You give her a knowing nod.
“I thought we’d be together after that. But Javi pretended that nothing ever happened, and I played along until just before he left for college. Our confrontation didn’t go as well as expected, and that’s the last time I saw him until a week ago.” You bite your lip for a moment, trying to collect your thoughts and emotions. “No matter how many years passed by, though, my heart stayed with him. I fuckin’ hate the fact that I can’t get rid of him. And now, having him back in my life, but having to see what I saw last night…” You trail off, shaking your head as Connie gives you a sympathetic look.
“Oh, sweetheart, I’m so sorry.” You smile a bit when Connie reaches a hand over to grab one of yours. “That’s real tough. I had no idea you two were that close.”
“I tried not to make it obvious,” you confess with a curt chuckle.
“Well… that explains a lot of the reason why Steve kept sensin’ tension.” Connie lets out a deep breath, and her eyes suddenly widen as she releases your hand. You feel alert at her change in demeanor, and you almost start to question it until she tells you herself. “Oh shit, girl, I hope you’re not a chatty drunk.”
You furrow your brow. “Why?”
Connie swallows hard. “Javi’s the one who took you home last night.”
Your heart practically leaps into your throat upon hearing her words. Javi? you ask yourself. But I thought he was with the woman. Why wouldn’t he have brought her home? “Really?”
Connie nods. “Steve asked him to, because we thought out of the three of us, he’d know the best way to take care of you. But if you got drunk because of him, and then you were talkin’ when you were with him and let it slip, I…” Connie trails off, and she doesn’t have to say anything else. Your fears are now laid out on the table.
“Fuck,” you curse, gripping your hair in your hands as you lean your elbows against the counter. “Oh my fuck, Connie, what if I said some dumb shit? We just came to a kind of truce and made it through the week, and what if I messed it up?”
“I’m sure it’s fine, sweetheart. We’re probably just stressin’ for no reason. You seemed pretty far gone when you left me.”
You shake your head, knowing all the frustrations that lay deep within your chest and would gladly jump out at Javier if you had the chance or the confidence. You don’t get drunk often—at all—but you do know that your confidence while drunk skyrockets, which means you might’ve actually had the balls to say something potentially damaging to Javier.
Before you have a chance to respond to her words of comfort, a knocking suddenly sounds at the front door. Connie excuses herself as she disappears into the hallway, and you listen as she pauses to look through the peephole and then unlocks the door. The voice that reverberates off the walls hits you directly in your chest, and you soon find yourself practically stumbling out of your chair as you dare to approach them.
“… seen her?” you pick up part of Javier’s extremely panicked words. “She’s not in her apartment, and I know that in her state, she wouldn’t have been able to get far—.” Javier stops when he looks beyond Connie to see you as you finally pop into the hallway. You try to still your heart as it thuds against your chest upon seeing his expression of pure worry—for you. He’s still in an outfit he would typically wear to work, and you would wonder if he ever wore anything else at all if you weren’t so wrapped up in the fact that he’s pursuing you. “Bella,” Javier finally breaks the tense silence, his voice sounding like a gasp of relief. “I… you scared me, there.”
“Sorry,” you manage to say meekly in response. “Don’t worry, I’m okay.”
Another silence persists, and this time it’s only broken by Connie as she clears her throat and gestures back towards the kitchen. “Do you want to come in for a drink or something, Javi? Steve’s out right now, but he should be back soon.”
You never break your gaze with Javier, trying to convince him to come in so you can clear your conscience about the night before with him. But all you see in his gaze is a flash of further fear, regret, and pain, and you know he’s not going to stay. On top of that, you know you must’ve said something utterly terrible to him last night, because the only other time you’ve seen his eyes flash like that is when you told him you never wanted to see him again. “I’m alright,” Javier finally dismisses Connie’s offer in his usual gruff voice. “I’ve got some errands to run. But thanks, anyway.” Connie nods, and Javier gives you a curt nod as well. “I’m glad you’re okay, bella.” With that, he turns away to leave.
Before he can go too far, you hurry over to the door, stepping outside to call to Javier where he’s descending the stairs. “Javi!” you exclaim, and he turns around quickly to face you. Your stomach sinks at the way his gaze practically begs you to let him go. “Thank you. For taking care of me last night.”
Javier simply gives you another nod, turning back around to finish going down the stairs. You try to swallow the lump in your throat as you retreat into Connie’s apartment, practically falling against the counter dramatically when you get there. Connie follows you with a grimace.
“Shit!” you curse angrily, feeling Connie place a comforting hand on your shoulder. You meet her gaze to find her sympathy, and you let out a heavy sigh as you shake your head at her. “I know I said something bad. I could see it written all over him.” You bite your lip, not wanting to dwell on the dark thought you’re conceiving of but having to face the reality of it. “If I didn’t ruin things all those years ago, then I definitely managed to do it, now—after only a week.”
Connie shakes her head as she invites you to sit back down, instead changing the subject as she tries her best to get your mind off things. But it’s too late—you’re already sinking into the black hole you’ve created for yourself. You’d broken things before you even had a chance to fix them, and that’s something you’re not sure you can ever forgive yourself for.
Later that night, you’re going onto your countless hour of despaired solitude, only able to sit on your couch and stare endlessly into the television screen as your mind continues to torment you. You’re still not sure what you said to Javier that made him feel so hurt and afraid. There are too many possibilities, and you don’t want to start considering which one you went for. Each one you manage to think of brings a sharp pain to your chest, so you decide to keep burying them deep inside and hope that he’s just gotten upset over something trivial.
Your thinking’s interrupted by the sound of clattering coming from the hallway. Immediately, you reach for the remote and turn off the television, freezing in place as you tune your ears into whatever could be going down. When you hear more chaos, you practically leap off the couch and hurry to your peephole, looking through to see if you can get a view of what’s going on. Your stomach twists into terrible knots when you finally observe the scene. All it takes is seeing an unfamiliar woman walk through the door of Javier’s apartment for you to understand what’s happening—and hope you don’t have to hear it, like Steve once said you might.
But you don’t even have to hear anything for the memories to start back up like clockwork, ticking to the sounds of the flashback you can never get out of your head.
“Are you sure you’re alright with this?”
You shake your head, closing your eyes as you lean your back against the door. You’re trying to shake it from your head, but you can’t—especially as you further picture what could be happening right down the hall.
“I’ve never been more certain of anything in my life, cariño.”
I should’ve said no, you lament to yourself. I should’ve fucking said no. You manage to make it over to your couch again, resting your elbows on your knees as you let your face fall into your hands. Your heart is screaming at you to remember anything, literally fucking anything, other than what your mind’s choosing to right now, but it’s got a chokehold on you. Now that you’re aware of what Javier’s up to, you can only picture that moment when you were in the same position.
“You’re doing amazing, bella. Fuck—you’re doing so good.”
You can hear his voice so clearly in your head. Still trying to be mindful of the migraine that’d radiated through your head for most of the day but needing to force something out of it, you take your hair in your fists and give it a firm tug.
“Eres mi princesa, bella—siempre. Good girl—God, you’re so beautiful. You always have been.”
They were lies! you want to scream aloud. They were all fucking lies! The way he’d comforted you, made you feel so special, and even murmured a forever—it was all bullshit. You know he’s probably saying the same exact things to the woman you’ve just seen.
“Javi… cariño… I—fuck—I—.”
“Shhh, I know, bella. I know, mi amor.”
Thank God he hadn’t let you say it. But having the audacity to follow it up with those promising words of mi amor makes you want to punch the wall. Upon hearing that for the first time, you truly thought everything was going to change—and instead, you’re here many years later, knowing he’s calling a stranger the same thing just a few feet away down the hall.
The voices have just started to fade into the feeling of your skin burning underneath his tender touch when another commotion outside your door interrupts you. Thankful for the distraction from your torment, you hop up from the couch and head for the peephole—already hearing a female yelling something in Spanish. Sure enough, when you look outside, you see the same woman from before storming out of Javier’s apartment and heading for the door to the outside. You raise an eyebrow, wondering how such a sudden turnaround could’ve happened.
You release a breath you never realized you were holding, glad that the memory’s starting to fade away as you head for the couch again. You stop, however, when you hear a hesitant knocking at your door. A pit forms in your stomach, and you turn around slowly to face the door yet again. You’re pretty certain of who’s standing there, and you’re not sure you’re ready to face them after the chaos they just unleashed on your mind. As soon as you open the door, however, you’re at their mercy—feeling your heart sink at the sight of their dark gaze brimming with unshed tears.
“Cariño,” you whisper, resting a gentle hand on his shoulder. You attempt to push past the fact that half his shirt’s unbuttoned, his lips are more swollen than usual, and his hair’s in quite a disarray, solely wanting to make him feel at ease. “What’s wrong?”
Javier shakes his head, biting his lip to keep himself from releasing the tears that still fill his eyes. You let out a soft breath and gesture towards the couch, seeing him head towards it with relief as you close the door behind him. You sit beside him gingerly, your gaze never leaving him. He’s leaning his elbows on his knees as his clasped hands rest over his mouth, his eyes looking endlessly into your coffee table. No matter how painful your latest memories of him have been, or how afraid you are of whatever you said to him last night, it absolutely devastates you to see him like this—so you let your hand fall on his back as your thumb rubs soothing circles over it.
“How can I help you, Javi?”
Javier blinks once, his gaze never moving as he finally rests his hands below his chin and offers an answer. “You can’t.” His gruff voice is broken, and the sound of it makes your heart absolutely shatter.
“Why not?” You keep your question gentle, to avoid provoking him by mistake.
“Because.” Javier pauses, taking a shaky breath before he finally looks over at you. The same fear, pain, and regret from earlier is in his gaze, and you wish you could just make it all disappear. “I don’t deserve it.”
You grimace, your hand slowly falling from his back. “Javi—.”
“I brought a woman in,” Javier cuts you off, clenching his jaw as he stares at something beyond you, “wanting to use her like I always do. To forget shit. To avoid it. But this time, fuck, all I could remember was you saying that I made you feel like a whore that one night, and I… I couldn’t help thinking, what if I make all of them feel like that? Because it seems I’ve sure as fuck made myself out to be just that.”
Your whole body goes cold, and you can barely speak around the lump in your throat as you dare to respond. “When did I say that?”
Javier’s gaze returns to yours, and you can see the horror he feels upon hearing your words. “Last night,” he breathes. “You don’t remember that?”
You shake your head. “I don’t remember anything after dancing at the bar, Javi.”
Javier looks away from you. “Fuck,” he curses to himself. “Fuck.”
You start to panic, realizing that this is the thing you’ve been dreading all day. “Look, Javi, I was drunk, and you know I don’t get drunk often. I probably didn’t even know what I was saying.”
“That was some pretty deep bullshit to have made up on the spot, bella.” Javier’s gaze snaps back to you, and those same three emotions are present in his eyes. “You don’t need to lie to me. I heard all your pain myself.” Upon saying that, you see his eyes widen slightly, and he stands up from the couch in a rush. You rise after him, watching as he rubs his hands on his thighs nervously and looks towards the door. “I don’t know why I came, I—I shouldn’t have come.” He looks at you quickly, averting your gaze as he gives you a nod. “Sorry.” Javier then takes off for your door, leaving you in a daze as you try to follow him.
“Wait, cariño!” you exclaim, trying to keep him from fleeing. He’s fast, however, and you only have time to get to your door when you see him walking back into his apartment and no doubt locking the door behind him. “Shit.” You slam your door closed and rest your forehead against it, closing your eyes and chewing your lip as you try to bury the sudden pain and confusion that’s rushed on like a wave.
You’re confident that you’ve managed to ruin your attempt at a second chance with Javier before you could even try to start it—and, in the process, contributed to the further damaging of his self-image. So much for leaving the shitshow in Texas.

You’ve Got It Bad

Seth x Reader: Wanting you

Part 2: “You’ve Got It Bad” by Usher

Y/n POV
Oh, no, no, no, no, no No, no, no, no, no, no, no
Ooh
When you feel it in your body You found somebody who makes you change your ways Like hanging with your crew Said you act like you're ready But you don't really know And everything in your past, you wanna let it go
Over the past few months, Seth and I have been…I don’t know…pulling towards one another. Literally. I didn’t notice at first, but Kayla pointed it out one day after school on our day off. It was shocking, to be honest. I never saw it before, and when she explained with facts, I couldn’t deny nor confirm it. But after that conversation, I did notice there was a change.
“I’m telling you, Y/n!”
“Shhhh! You’ll wake up the monster.” I say, whispering to her. The monster, aka one of my two guardians Taylor. Taylor can be described as a temperamental ass bitch. I mean, Kennedy isn’t any better, but at least their words aren’t harmful like Taylors. They’ve never put their hands on me (because they know I will knock their necks), but they are slightly intimidating.
“Sorry. But still, for example, usually in Mr. Harpender's class, you guys would sit on the opposite end of one another. Suddenly, you guys are now in the middle of the class. If Jeffery Delmer wasn’t a teacher-pet and had to be at the desk before everyone else, I swear you guys would be on top of one another by this point.” She smiles with excitement while I roll my eyes.
“Well, regardless, he hasn’t been at school in, what, a month or so? So, who knows? Maybe if he comes back, we’ll see.” I shrug my shoulders.
“Look, I’m just saying, you should make the first move. Look at him! He’s such a sweetheart and a cutie! He looks in your direction all of the time.” I feel a rush of heat consume my cheeks as my face brings up a smile.
“I’ll think about it…IF he comes back. If not, then it was just meant to be as such.” Kayla rolls her eyes and plops over to the other side of the bed.
“You’re lame.”
That night, as I was lying in bed, I thought about what Kayla said and how we had gravitated towards each other. The feeling is, nice? Frustrating? Overwhelming? I don’t know, it just feels-
“What was that?” I whisper to myself. I look towards where the noise was coming from and walk over to the window to check. I slightly pull my covers back, and I look around. I suddenly remember the dreams that would display almost every other night. The one where Seth comes to my window but wake up before anything happens.
As I search for what it could have been, my eyes land on something that I can’t see. I know whatever it is, they’re watching me watch them watching me. I don’t move my eyes from them until I hear a creak in the floorboard in the hallway. I turn to look at the door, then look back outside. Whatever is out there is gone. I rush—quietly—back to my bed and play as if I fell asleep. I suck at acting, so I grab a book and lay in an awkward position sitting up so that if they look in my room, I’ll have a reason as to why my light that I stupidly neglected to turn off is still on.
“Wretched child…” Kennedy said as she comes in. I “wake” up to see her looking at me and act as if I was asleep.
“What have I told you about keeping the light on past 8:30. And why are you still up?” I roll my eyes and respond in a tired voice.
“I didn’t mean to,” I toss my book on my side table, “I was reading and fell asleep,” I say, moving into a more comfortable position. Ken rolls their eyes, leaves, and almost slams the door shut. I’ll never understand their issue with me. But then again, I am, and I quote, “trophy child. To show the community that they care and were willing to take in a ‘troubled’ teen out of the system” end quote.
I wasn’t troubled, and I wasn’t in the system. My parents knew them and trusted them with their guardianship while they went on their 2-year missionary trip. But no matter what I tell my parents, it’s always conveyed back to them, and I get the fucked-up end of the stick. Because, you know, who would believe in the teenager that has sent countless of proof of the fucked-up situation you put the child in.
I've been there, done it, fucked around After all that, this is what I found Nobody wants to be alone If you're touched by the words in this song Then baby
You got it, you got it bad When you're on the phone Hang up and you call right back You got it, you got it bad If you miss a day without your friend Your whole life's off track You know you got it bad when you're stuck in the house You don't wanna have fun It's all you think about You got it bad when you're out with someone But you keep on thinkin' bout somebody else You got it bad
The following week, Seth came back and hot-fucking-damn. Wherever he disappeared off to change him that much, bless them oh so dearly.
“Hey, there’s your boyfriend.” Orion nudges me; I turn to look at him and Kayla and tell them to shut up. I guess Orion said it loud enough because not only Seth, but some of his other friends that consisted of Jared, Paul, Embry, Quil, and Jake all turned to us, and I had never felt more embarrassed than now. I hear Kayla and Orion still laughing, so I take the opportunity to bump Orion (lightly) towards Kayla and watch them almost fall on one another in the hallway. I can feel them look at me, and I try to ignore it by laughing, turning around, and head to class.
“Hey!” Orion yelled.
“Damnit, Orion! You’re heavier than you look!” Kayla said.
“No! You’re just weak.” Orion came back.
Seth’s POV
“So…” Embry started.
“Not now, Em,” I said, rolling my eyes, already knowing what was about to come next.
“Yeah! Lay off, little stalker. It’s not his fault that he couldn’t resist knowing if Y/n is his imprint or not.” Paul said. I push him off me and straighten my shirt.
“Yeah, well, at least he found out that she was. YOU, however, are still seeking and hoping you do.” Jared says. Paul looks at him as if he’s offended.
“I thought you were on my side?!” He shrugs his shoulder while finishing up his pancake in his hand.
“Anyways, now I say you REALLY have a reason to talk to her. You remember what Sam said-” Quil said,
“Before or after yelling at him for running off?” Embry asked,
“Both. You can’t run away from your imprint. No matter how hard you try. So, go up to Y/n. What’s the worst that could happen?”
“She rejects him” –Embry,
“Kicks him in the balls”—Paul. I grabbed myself a little. I’ve seen her on the soccer field…that would hurt.
“Laugh-in his face” –Jared,
“Puke?” –Quil,
“Why is that a question?” Jake asked.
“She doesn’t seem like the type to do it,” Quil responded, and everyone nodded in agreement.
“Can you guys shut up!” I say, walking into the school. Jake catches up with me while the other guys laugh.
“You know they’re kidding, right. She’s not going to do anything like that. I told you before, she does like you. I have Kayla in my history class, and I saw your name was mentioned in their group chat.”
“But did you see what it said completely?”
“Well…no. But according to Bella, that could be a good thing.”
“Yeah, could, but it could not be.”
“Oh, come on, Seth, you’re bringing us down. You’re supposed to be the cheerful one of us. Paul is Satan-” Jared said, ignoring Paul’s reaction
“Hey!”
“Embry is the awkward one,” he continued,
“I take offense to that…”
“Jake is the lover boy, a self-reserved cupid even,”
“Seriously, man?” Jake whined
“Quil is…well…Quil.”
“Yeah! Wait…” Quil responded, confused.
“You are the cheerful one. And I am the handsome one! We all have a role, and we all need to stick with it.” Jared finishes. I won’t deny that that didn’t put a grin on my face, but what put on a full-blown smile was what I heard not too far from where we were standing in the hallway.
“Hey, there’s your boyfriend,” Orion whispered. Without the enhanced hearing we have now, I would have never heard that in this loud hallway. Then in unison, we all looked in their direction. When I made eye contact with Y/n, I could basically feel the embarrassment flowing off her. She looks towards her laughing friends (who noticed us looking too), nudges Orion, who was off-balanced, who knocks into Kayla and on to the floor. Avoiding our gaze, she smiles and walks towards her class.
“Well, I guess you really don’t have an excuse to not ask her out, huh, buddy,” Paul says, patting my shoulder and walking to class.
“Wait for me, Satan!” Quil says behind him.
When you say that you love 'em And you really know Everything that used to matter, it don't matter no more Like my money, all my cars (You can have it all and) Flowers, cards and candy (I do it just cause I'm) Said I'm fortunate to have you girl I want you to know I really adore you All my people that know what's going on Look at your mate, help me sing my song Tell her I'm your man, you're my girl I'm gonna tell it to the whole wide world Ladies say I'm your girl, you're my man Promise to love you the best I can
All-day today, I had been coming up with a plan to go and talk to her. Paul advised me to meet her after school and just ask her. Believe it or not, he isn’t that bad. He’s an ass, that’s for sure, but out of everyone, he might play jokes on you, but he’s the most honest.
“But how! I’m not you, Satan. I’m a saint, not a sinner.” He gives me a side-eye and rolls them.
“You’re lucky I like you more than the others. Look, she works at the diner, right? Just go to the diner and sit at one of the tables she waits for and start there. Be slow and careful; don’t be like Jared’s dumbass and basically scare her off within the first introduction of meeting each other.” I laugh and nod.
“Thanks, man.” He nods, and we head towards his truck.
After getting home, I talk to my dad for a while and tell him my plan. He was happily surprised at Paul’s advice. I tell him I’ll be back before dinner and head over to the diner. I was tempted to take the shortcut and shift, but I already know Sam will kick my ass. So, I just settle jogging up there. I’ll sike myself out if I think too hard on it.
See I've been there, done it, fucked around After all that, this is what I found Everyone of y'all are just like me It's too bad that you can't see That you got it bad, hey
I make it to the diner and place myself in one of her booths. I can see her talking to Orion while stacking up her tray for the table nearby. After she drops off their food, she heads over to me. I act as if I need to look at the menu and watch her from my peripheral vision and sees she sees me and almost hesitates to come by. She does, and when I look at her, I’m lost for words. I forgot where I was for a few seconds, and I somehow managed to talk first.
“Hi,” I say. She snaps out of it and smiles.
“Hi. Um, hey,”
“Hey.” I smile back.
“Hey, um. So, uh, wha-what can I get for you?” she said softly. I smile and order a double stack burger, some fries, and a Dr. Pepper. And she left to go ring it up and place the order. I pull out my phone to act as if I was busy doing something, and I overhear (not intentionally!) her conversation with Orion.
“Bravo! That was wonderful to watch.” He said, attempting to keep it together. “But if it makes you feel better, he looked like he was lost. If neither one of you had said something, I would have paid you back from earlier and knock you over.” I smiled. I wouldn’t complain about catching her since I’ve already fallen for her.
“Will you shut up. Last time you said something, he and his friends heard it.” She sticks her middle finger at him and brings my drink.
“Here you go. Sorry about that. Is there anything else I could get for you while you wait for your food?” she asked politely.
“No, thanks, though.” As she turns to leave, something without my consent calls her again,
“Wait.” She turns back around, “Do you have the assignment for Mr. Harpender’s class. I haven’t been at school for a while, and my cousin is really strict with getting back on track.” She smiles and nods her head.
“Yeah, I have it in my backpack. I can run out and go get them for you.”
“Sure. But um, it can wait until afterward. I don’t, you know, want to get your notes all messed up or anything.” She smiles and says, ok. Another family comes in, and she excuses herself to help them. I take this time to calm my nerves. Orion brings my food and slides in the opposite booth.
“So, asked her out yet? And don’t give me that look; everyone and the teachers can see how badly you guys like each other. Look, I know you’re shy, and all, but I’m here to inform you that she will say yes, her favorite color is ____, she hates _____, and she thinks, well thought, your long hair was overly luscious and was jealous of you. Anyways, good luck!” he says, but turns around and says, “And if you hurt her, I’ll kill you with a napkin.” And walks away.
Narrators POV
After eating, Seth decided to help Y/n with cleaning the table. He pays for his meal and walks to her car with him. She goes to the trunk of her car to get the notes out for him. She makes sure all is in there and double-checks that it isn’t her doodle notebook containing some secrets and doodles he never should see.
“Here you go! Just, you know, let me know if you need any help. I know sometimes my handwriting can be sloppy, but if it’s hard to read, just tell me.” She says, smiling and closing her trunk.
“Yeah, I will-” a horn goes off, and a female voice is calling towards the two.
“Hey, little shit! Come on! Mom said dinners ready!” Seth rolls his eyes at his sister Leah.
“Sorry about her, that’s my sister Leah. Great, isn’t she?” She smiles and laughs lightly. “but anyways, thanks to Y/n/n. I’ll let you know if I have any trouble. Which, I probably will, but just in case, I’ll let you know. Oh! Before I forget! This is for you.” Seth handed her $5 for gratuity and ran to the truck.
“Thanks! Have a good evening!” and walks into the diner. It wasn’t until she got home and counted her cash that she noticed a piece of a torn off napkin folded inside of the $5. When she opened it, she saw scratchy handwriting that had a set of numbers and a name.

Text me sometime if you’d like.
-Seth.
“Even when you’re not in person, you manage to be polite and shy.” She shakes her head and takes a leap of faith.
Y/n to Seth: Hey! It's Y/n. Lol, I see you have some tricks up your sleeve. But anyway, how’s the notes coming along?
Seth to Y/n: Hey! Well, you know, I try at least. I have to take my shot. And I assume it’s working? And they’re helpful! I just might need tutoring for the makeup exam.
Y/n to Seth: Lol, I promise, it's working Seth 😊. And sure! I’m off Fridays and Saturdays, and I only work morning shifts on Sundays. Just let me know when, where, and what time.
Seth to Y/n: Good! Cause this would be so embarrassing, and I would beg you to not tell anyone, ha-ha. How about Friday at the library? Afterschool? Or Saturday if that’s better! We could meet at a friend of my place. She’ll even provide snacks 😉.
Y/n to Seth: Ha-ha, Friday is fine. If we need to, we can use Saturday as a touch up/review. I mean if she doesn’t mind…. :/
Seth to Y/n: She won’t, I promise. But I’ll ask to ease your worries 😊
Y/n to Seth: Lol, thanks! Well, imma head to bed. Night Seth!
Seth to Y/n: Night Y/n/n!
Y/n couldn’t help but go to bed easy that night with a smile on her face but a hint of worry in the back of her mind. Whereas she wanted to be happy, she was having a hard time because the thought of her overly religious parents and rude guardians knowing about him would just bring hell. What also worries her is that if she does keep going and they become a thing, would she argue like Taylor and Kennedy?
On the other side of the line was a boy surrounded by his brethren’s making fun of him for texting his imprint. And to all surprises, Sam joined in.
“Oh, leave him alone! I’m glad Seth is with Y/n! She’s an amazing person and perfect for him. And plus, Jared, need I remind you that you were 40 times worse than that?” Emily said. Bless this woman, Seth thought.
“I wouldn’t have been able to do it without the help of Paul, to be honest. I had to channel my inner Paul. Well…the flirty side, or, at least I tried.” Seth said, Paul smiled, and everyone was shocked.
“Satan helped you?” Jake said.
“If someone calls me Satan one more time…”
“Fine, Lucifer.” Jared says, then turns to me, “You really had this guy help you? And not me?”
“The situation with Kim…” was all I said.
“Is everyone going to always bring that up?!” Jared argued.
“Yes.” We all said in unison.
You got it, you got it bad When you're on the phone Hang up and you call right back You got it, you got it bad If you miss a day without your friend Your whole life's off track You know you got it bad when you're stuck in the house You don't wanna have fun It's all you think about You got it bad when you're out with someone But you keep on thinkin' 'bout somebody else You got it bad

Newt’s First
MOVIE MAZE RUNNER DEATH CURE COUPLE NEWT X READER RATING SMUTT AF
Tumblr media
I sat looking at the ceiling of this old broken building, looking at the beams and rusted pipework. I could hear the other guys fast asleep Thomas and fry gently snoring in the darkness. I pulled the blanket tighter around me turning to my side looking out at the water and the boat they where fixing up, the others all had hammocks but they gave me the one little bed due to my leg playing up lately, I tried to get some sleep but I couldn't turn of my head.
Just then I felt a tap on my shoulder I jumped and turned sitting up seeing y/n one of the group B girls who we had met in the scorch who we all did get along with fine, even if I did kinda like y/n ever since we met up with them I thought she was kinda cute and it developed over time to be a little bit of a crush on her but I hadn't told anyone,
"Oohh hey, you made me jump" I said to her as hushed as I could not wanting to wake the others
"Sorry" she answered
"What's up?"
"I was wondering if I could sleep with you for Tonight?" She asked
"what?" I asked a little shocked at her question
"I can't sleep, and I'm frozen... Please newt" she begs
"Uhh well I guess so" I told her letting her crawl into my little single bed with me we where hardly an inch apart I felt my blood start to race feeling her so close to me
"Oohh we haven't got much space have we" she giggled
"Uhh no, we uh we don't" I stuttered
"That's okay," she smiled "would you hold me?"
"What!" I asked in shock
"So I don't fall off' she says
"Uhhh sure" I said holding her wrist and she giggled taking my hands and resting them on her waist as she moved forward so she was even closer to me then before
"There, I can't fall off now can I?" She smiled "it's okay newt I rather like being snuggled up with you" she smiled resting her head in my neck
"Uhh yeah it's nice in bed with you too y/n" I blushed
"Are you okay?" She asks
"Hu? Ummm yeah I guess so sorry I've uhh not shared a bed with a girl before I'm a bit nervous" I admit "and I'm not too sure like where's an okay place for my hands"
"Awww newt that's adorable" she giggled nuzzling even closer I wasn't sure how much closer she could get before she'd just be climbing ontop of me "well don't worry newt you can touch whatever you like" she whispered giving me a little wink "you can put your hands anywhere you'd like" she giggled "well everywhere but here" she says as she moved herself against my knee rubbing her pussy on me I froze unsure what to do with this Information, she smiled and moved my hands down to her butt it was so big, almost too big for my hands so soft and squishy thought her little shorts she nuzzled closer to my neck giving it little kisses as I uncontrollably groped, she moved my hands again letting me touch her breasts they felt even better they where heavenly even though her shirt I could feel her nipples hard to the cold air she let me play with her tits all I wanted squeezing and groping for what felt like forever "enjoying yourself newt?"
"Yeah" I blushed "how could you tell?"
She smirked biting her bottom lip before I suddenly felt a hand on my cock thought my boxers shorts of course as I had gone to sleep in them her hand felt so soft I was in shock, I'm laid in bed, with a girl! Who's letting me feel her tits and she now has her hand on my cock! I didn't know what to do my brain has overloaded in all this amazing pleasure what's the one thing that came out my mouth
"I'm a Virgin y/n!"
"A what?" She asks
"A virgin... I've never had sex before" I blushed "or done anything sexual really, this uhh actually the furthest I've gone in my life."
"How far had you gone before this?" I asked
"Uuuhhh I kissed Gally in a game of truth or dare once" I admit
"That's it?"
"Yeah" i sighed "it's okay uhh if you still want to I'm sure one or the other boys-" I began but she put her finger on my mouth to stop me talking
"Hehehe newt I wanted a snuggle, and I want to snuggle with you" she says pressing ever inch of her against me moving my hands to her waist
"But I don't know what I'm doing... Wouldn't you rather go snuggle with someone who knows what there doing?"
"No I want to snuggle with you newt" she giggled
"Why?"
"Because I like you"
"You- you like me?" I stuttered in shock and she nods holding my hand
"I had a crush on you since you boys met up with us" she smiled
"I uhh I kinda had a crush on you too" I admit
"You did?" She giggled and I nodded
"I thought you where really cute"
"Awww I think your adorable newt... And sexy" she smirked rubbing herself against me
"I uhh I didn't realize how sexy you where till tonight... Guess I never really looked at the girls that way" I blushed
"Newt... When where back in your maze? Did you ever?"
"Well I'm a Virgin?"
"I mean like all by yourself"
"Ooh no, the guys used to, I never really had time... To busy" I explain
"Ohh you poor thing so you've never?" She asks
"Never what?" I asked
"Finished?" She smirked
"Not really no ... I mean a couple times in my sleep"
"Aww you poor thing, if you want I could... Finish you?" She suggested
"Well I Uhhh.... Okay" I blushed so she smirked sitting on my legs over me she smiled the moonlight hitting her beautiful face I couldn't help but smile a little overexcited as she tugged my boxers down
"Oooohh newt... He's bigger then I expected" she blushed running her fingers along my shaft, I bit my mouth hard so scared of waking everyone else up "you can touch anything you want just not here" she says as she gently rid her hips on my thigh I nodded getting comfortable and she smiled giving my hands little kisses as she rested them on her waist as her hand grabbed my base hard and tight it felt so good and she isn't doing anything yet all she's done is touch me and I think I'm gonna go insane "hehe can tell you where too busy for him..."
'how so?" I asked
"He's so desperate" she giggled as her hand moved up and down my shaft slowly and tenderly but it was enough to make me have to bite my pillow to try not to scream "newt? Is this the first time anyone's has ever touched this part of you?" She giggled and I nodded
"Anyone other than me" I told her trying to keep my breath steady as I spoke I couldn't help myself I moved my hands to he breasts ummm they felt even better with her sat on top of me she giggled at my hands and pushed them away a moment and she pulled up her shirt revealing her bare breasts to me and putting my hands back I couldn't stop my hands they where working on there own groping and squeezing as she moved her hand "please please don't stop" I muttered between my breaths
"Aww does it feel that good newt?" She asked and all I could manage was a nod so she smiled moving a little grabbing a hair tie from her wrist and putting her hair in in a pony tail I was a little confused but she moved down pulling the blanket to my waist so she was completely under it I grabbed the blanket unsure what she was gonna-
"Uuuhhh! Oh my god!" I moaned instantly putting my hand over my mouth to shut myself up so afraid of waking anyone as I felt her beautiful warm lips around my head her hand didn't stop it sped up as she licked and sucked every inch she could "y/n please" I begged
"Heheh don't worry newt you can cum in my mouth if you want to" she said as she pressed kisses up and down my shaft
"I uuuhhh I'm not sure I can"
"Why not?"
"Is there such a thing as overload?"
"Awww newt, that's just because you've never felt it before... It always feels this good" she says as she returns to her sucking ohh fuck her mouth is magic "and I'll come do it for you whenever you want me too"
"Y/n... I- I think I'm gonna-" I blushed trying so hard to stop myself
"Just relax, let it go" she says her hand gently massaging the bottom of my stomach as her other hand pumped my shaft and her mouth went up and down sucking and licking as much as she could, I was in heaven I never wanted it to stop, I was beyond desperate I felt like if I didn't finish I might have a heart attack my eyes rolled back and I had to bite on my pillow so unbelievably close like any second I was gonna-
But the door across the way suddenly opened and y/n stopped pulling her shirt down and laying back beside me pulling my boxers back up she shhed me and I nodded as whoever it was wondered around the sleeping people we sat still a moment but I couldn't take it I was so close
"Y/n..... Please... I need you" I pleaded in desperation
"Aww okay, but quiet" she warns slipping her hand in my boxers and jerking me as fast as she could go it wasn't as good as her sucking but I didn't need it to be, and begged her to go faster and she obliged doing as I asked until a voice made me jump
"Y/n? Bella needs a word" the person said
"Aww sorry newt I have to go" she says moving her hand away and getting out my bed
"What? No please, five more minutes" I begged holding her hand tightly trying not to let her go
"I won't be long" she smiled "five minutes" she says giving my lips a gentle kiss before she went off with this girl out the room, I sighed feeling it beg and ache desperate for her touch as I laid in bed waiting for her... I didn't know how long she'd be I couldn't take waiting I grabbed my base like she did to me and pumped as hard and fast as I could it didn't feel as good as her hands but I was too desperate to care I pulled my boxers down imagining my hands where hers going as fast as I could possibly
"Uuuhhh!! Uuuummm" I groaned as I felt likes someone lit a firework in my cock, pleasure exploded out of me from the tip of my cock flowing across my body, this unbelievable pleasure I felt something spill out all over my stomach but I didn't care it felt so good... Now I see why the boys where so obsessed with it in the maze, I get it now.
"Enjoying yourself?" Y/n asks as she stood by my bed
"Uhhh hi" I blushed "sorry" I told her as she climbed in next to me
"I wasn't gone that long newt" she laughs
"I'm sorry, I couldn't wait" I admit blushing hard
"Aww it's okay newt, did you enjoy it?" She asked and I nodded
"It would have been better if you did it for me"
"Well I would have but somebody got all impatient" she giggled giving me another kiss "oohh look at all the mess you've made" she says looking at my stomach and cock she smiled giving me another kiss before she went licking up every drop licking my cock clean and swallowing it all
"Y/n?"
"Ummm?" She asks as she cleaned her mouth
"Do you wanna be my girlfriend?"
"Aww newt, of course I do" she giggled cuddling close to me so I wrapped my arms around her to hold her close "did you wanna do something else?" She asked
"Tomorrow night" I smirked
"Okay, goodnight newt"
"Goodnight y/n" I smiled giving her lips a sweet kiss.

Three Weeks In
So, I’m writing a series. Cute, fluffy ideas kept popping into my head and rather than making a new character/backstory for each one-shot, I decided to keep the universe I set up in Changes which is basically all the canon-SVU events but Sonny has a loving relationship behind the scenes. Let’s face it, the boy deserves happiness. It’s not necessary to read my other story first unless you want the backstory of the reader character and how they got together with Sonny. I’ll try to keep things chronological and weave in SVU events if I can. My OCD is forcing me to make sure the dates are all correct (ex: Sonny can’t be with the reader if he’s supposed to be upstate investigating a lead.) So tah-dah! I present thee with the second installment of the “Changes” series which is set immediately after 17x09, Depravity Standard, and begins on Nov 23rd 2015 (the day before Thanksgiving). It may be crap, but I hope you enjoy anyway!
Words: 2296 Warnings: none Pairing: Sonny x Reader Summary: Three weeks into dating Sonny and he already wants you to meet his family… AO3 here
Tumblr media
Some days you actually have to pinch yourself as a reminder that your life is real. It’s been three weeks since Sonny showed up to your class. Three weeks since the two of you confessed your feelings. And three weeks of dating Sonny. While your schedules didn’t allow for a lot of one-on-one time, the two of you keep in touch and steal away for dinner whenever you can.
A steady beeping sound rouses you from your sleep and you roll over to shut off your alarm. The sun is starting to peek through the curtains, signalling a new day. Glancing at your phone screen, you smile.
Mornin’, doll. Have a great day! Talk to you later xoxo
Everyday you wake up to a text from Sonny and, though a seemingly small gesture, your heart aches in the best possible way from knowing he cares. You unplug the device and lay back in bed, phone perched on your chest.
Morning, Sonny. Hope you have a great day too and stay safe! xoxo
As you hit send, you imagine him smiling at his desk when the message comes in. You get ready for class and head out, a spring in your step while you journey to campus. Sonny texts you back around lunchtime with a message saying that he should be free tonight. He asks if you’d be up for having dinner and you eagerly accept. That evening you put on a nice outfit, fix your hair and set out to meet your date at a nearby restaurant. But SVU work can be unpredictable. You were made very aware of that during your summer there. One day could be quiet while the next could be so busy that you didn’t know whether the detectives were coming or going. So understandably, this line of work would sometimes force Sonny to be late. Nevertheless, if he was, he would apologize profusely and you would always reassure him that you understood. Tonight however, as you wait alone inside the restaurant lobby, Sonny is later than he’s ever been before. Not only that, but he hasn’t even sent you a message to confirm that he was caught up. His silence has you worried. You crane your neck towards the door once more before sending him a quick text:
Hey. Hope everything is okay.
Not a moment later your phone vibrates.
Shit. Sorry, doll. I’ll be there in 15.
You breathe a sigh of relief knowing he’s safe but then your gut knots when the alternative creeps into your mind. Restaurant patrons pass you by and the hostess keeps glaring while you’re standing there. They’ve seen it all before: a girl left waiting for a date who doesn’t show. You look up and let out a shaky sigh, hoping that Sonny hadn’t simply forgotten you. Practically 15 minutes on the nose from his text, a rather frantic looking Sonny comes barreling through the restaurant door. His winter jacket is unbuttoned and you can see his badge still clipped to his suit underneath. He hasn’t had time to change. “Hey,” he breathes out with apologetic eyes. “I’m so sorry. I shoulda texted you. It’s just Rollins -” Sonny takes a breath, chest heaving. He must have ran here. “She had a scare today. There were complications with her labor. Luckily, she made it though n’ delivered a healthy baby girl, but Lieu and I stayed there with her for a while. She’s gettin’ some rest now and Fin is gonna check up on her later.” Immediately you flood with relief. “I’m glad she and the baby are alright,” you say, “and I’m glad nothing had happened to you either.” “You dunno know how sorry I am for not lettin’ you know what was goin’ on. I shoulda texted. But things got hectic and we were all pretty worried about her…” “Sonny,” you cut off his rambling and force him to meet your eyes. “It’s okay. I’m not mad. Like I said, I’m glad Rollins is fine and I’m also glad she wasn’t alone through all this.” Sonny looks back at you and takes a breath. Your words seem to calm him right down. He smiles. “You’re amazin’.” You blush. “Back at you, but I’m starved.” He chuckles and the two of you approach the hostess. She grabs your menus but rolls her eyes as she turns to lead you to your table. She seats you at a little booth in the corner, Sonny taking your coat before you sit down. You braved wearing a knee-length dress despite the November weather and are rewarded by an expression of awe from Sonny when he sees it. “You look beautiful, doll,” he compliments, drinking you in. “And here I am, lookin’ shabby in comparison.” A little tired, yes. But shabby? Never. Sonny’s dark hair is still combed back and he’s wearing a tasteful burgundy tie over a white pinstripe shirt. You lean in and peck him on the cheek. “You always look handsome to me.” The two of you order and share a drink, happy to finally be catching up. “Shadowin’ Barba was fantastic!” exclaims Sonny through a mouthful of bread. “He’s so polished in his delivery n’ so sharp at findin’ the littlest things to drive it all home to the jury!” “Fanboy alert!” you joke. “Guilty!” he grins, raising his fork in surrender. “But I learn so much from him and it gives me new ideas for doin’ my written assignments.” “I’m happy for you, Sonny. You work so hard and you deserve every ounce of success you earn.” You truly can’t help the pride you feel for him. “Aww, thanks, doll. That means a lot.” Sonny gazes at you with the utmost affection and you nearly melt in your seat. “Say, what’s new with you? Anythin’ excitin’ in the ol’ biology class?” “Same old, same old,” you shrug. “Just gave the second midterm back to the students, so I expect a lot of office visits from them on Monday.” “You don’t have ta work or take emails over the holiday, do ya?” asks Sonny, pushing food around his plate absentmindedly. “Nope. Why?” You sense there’s something more to his inquiry. “Well, I was wonderin’…now, I know it’s short notice ‘cause I wasn’t even sure I’d be able to get off myself, but I was wonderin’ if…if you’d like to spend Thanksgiving with me at my parents’ place?” Sonny looks up. It’s the most hopeful expression you’ve ever seen on him. “I..uh…” you’re lost for words. You want to scream out ’YES!’ at the top of your lungs but at the same time it’s not that easy. “Sonny, that’s t-tomorrow. And it’s also your family time. I wouldn’t want to intrude on them.” “You wouldn’t be intrudin’! My ma’s been askin’ to meet my girlfriend n’ even said to ’make sure you bring her over for Thanksgiving’.” Your voice goes quiet. “I’m your…g-girlfriend?” The word floors you. Most guys don’t want to dive head first into labeling relationships, especially not after only three weeks. But here is Sonny Carisi, happily calling you his girlfriend and wanting you to meet his family. “Yeah, of course doll,” he answers a little perplexed. “We’re datin’ aren’t we?” Sonny fixes his gaze on you, trying to read what you’re feeling. You shake your head to snap yourself out of it. “Yes, y-yes. It’s just that…Never mind. I’d love to spend Thanksgiving with your family!” An uncontrolled smile spreads across your face and you’re pretty sure it makes you look like a complete dork. If it does, Sonny doesn’t point it out, but instead reaches across the table to hold your hand. He too is smiling from ear to ear like you’ve made him the happiest man alive. Suddenly your smile drops. “What?” questions Sonny. “What time will you be heading out tomorrow?” “Uh, well, I was thinkin’ we could get there for ‘round four o'clock. Time enough to introduce ya to everyone before we eat?” “Four?! That doesn’t give me much time to make anything!” you gulp. “Make somethin’? Doll, my mother wouldn’t want you to bring anythin’. Believe me, she cooks for a small army.” “Sonny. You can’t show up to someone’s house for dinner empty handed.” Sonny opens his mouth to argue, but you shush him instead. “How many people are gonna be there?” Conceding, he sets down his utensils, freeing his hands to count. “Well, there’s gonna be mom, dad, me, you, Bella n’ Tommy. Their little one doesn’t eat the good stuff yet, so I won’t count her.” Sonny unfolds that finger. “Then there’s Resa and Mia and Gina. Maybe a plus one for Gina, but who the hell knows with her.” Looking down at his two hands, he raises them to show you. “Should be nine altogether.” Good to know because you were going to be up early the next morning baking. -x- You don’t realize your knee is bouncing until Sonny reaches over and places a warm hand on it. “Don’t be nervous, doll. My family is gonna love you.” You turn your head towards him, flashing a weak smile. Sitting in idle traffic is only making your nerves worse. “Trust me. Besides, ya even baked fresh bread rolls on short notice. They’re gonna disown me and keep you instead.” Sonny taps your knee reassuringly before returning his hand to the steering wheel. The Carisis live in a quaint little suburban house complete with a petite yard and front porch stoop. It seems small for a family of six, yet still cozy and welcoming. You can’t imagine Sonny growing up anywhere else. Sonny leads you up the steps and knocks on the door. It instantly flies open and a short woman with grey hair greets the two of you with open arms. “Sonny!” she coos, scooping her boy in for a hug. Sonny plants his mother a kiss before introducing you. “Hellooo! Welcome, hon,” exclaims Mrs. Carisi as she ushers you into her home. The place smells delectable. If someone asked you describe the scent of Thanksgiving, you would say ‘the Carisi household’. “I’m so happy you could make it! Y'know, Sonny has told me so much about ya and I’m glad that boy finally got the nerve to - ” “Ma!” blurts Sonny, flashing his mother a warning look. Sonny must have spent those months apart dwelling over you, just as you had done over him. “What?! It’s true, honey,” defends the Carisi matriarch before turning back to you. “Whateva. You just make yourself at home dear. We’re all family here.” “Thank you, Mrs. Carisi,” you say sincerely. You’d never been so instantly accepted by another family. After sharing a hug with Sonny’s mother, you are swarmed by the rest of the Carisis. Sonny introduces you to his father first, who gives you a solid nod. Next is Bella, bouncing a tiny infant with Tommy by her side. Theresa and a shy Mia chime in a ‘hello’ before a solo Gina caps off the meet-and-greet. Mrs. Carisi is over the moon when you hand over your baking and the bread rolls end up being a major success. In true Italian fashion, the Thanksgiving spread is full of flavor with Sonny’s mother sparing no expense in variety or quantity. Everyone joins in saying grace before dinner and, though not a common practice in your house growing up, you don’t mind linking hands with Sonny and Gina while Mr. Carisi leads the family in giving thanks. Because you do have a lot to be thankful for: a great job, an incredible boyfriend and now a whole new family to spend time with. The rest of the meal is occupied by sharing in conversation, fond memories and laughter. You find it all sort of surreal. During the summer Sonny had entertained you with tales of this very family: How they could get on one another’s nerves but that at the end of the day still loved each other. And this is exactly what you see before you. Maybe it’s a light buzz from the wine, but you feel all warm and fuzzy as the chatter of the Carisis surround you. Eventually the evening winds down and everyone seems to be groaning over how full their tummies are. You know you’ve eaten too much but wouldn’t have it any other way. “The food was absolutely delicious, Mrs. Carisi. Thank you all for having me,” you say appreciatively, looking at everyone in turn. “Our pleasure, hon,” smiles Sonny’s mother sweetly. “Know that you’re welcome here anytime.” She clasps your hands in hers and gives them a few quick pats. You say your reluctant goodbyes before you and Sonny head to his car. Once inside, he looks at you. “So?” “Your family is wonderful, Sonny and I had a great time.” This makes him flush with pride. “Glad to hear it, doll. Sometimes they can be a bit much, but they mean well.” He turns the key in the ignition and his car grumbles to life. The two of you wave as he backs out of the driveway. Once you’re cruising down Arden avenue, Sonny pipes up again. “Y'don’t have any more of them rolls, do ya? I didn’t know you were such a good cook.” You let out a laugh. “I’m not that good. For every two-dozen there’s about a dozen that come out flat and ugly. But if you’re indifferent to what they look like, then I can hook you up with the rejects.” You wink just as the car passes beneath the glow of a streetlamp in hopes Sonny will catch it. He grins. “I don’t mind. Besides, it gives me a good excuse to walk ya to your door 'n steal a kiss goodnight.”

I have a bunch of ideas planned, the next being x-mas (wrong time of year, I know) but I just have to check dates from the episodes. Let me know if you’d be interested in more of these stories and any feedback would be loved!

In a effort to throurt him your grandmother transferred the magic of the entire coven over to you, so that when you woke a vampire you would have access to your magic but had the speed, heightened senses and immortality . After a century you meet Carlisle and agree to join his family. Everyone thought that you and Edward were going to end up married until he met Bella. You were left heartbroken until you meet a certain wolf.
Fandom: Twilight
A/n: So this is what inspired my story “The Hybrid” so I had to do it. Also the pairing only refers to the certain part. The pairings crossed out are the ones that will come in another part. The majority of this series will take place during Eclipse. Please note that everything in italics is a flashback.
Important! I have made some changes to parts three and two, they are minor but important. So you do not have to re read them, unless you want too, I will briefly explain. After some thinking I decided that the twins are going to be equally as powerful. Which means that Y/n is also a shape shifter and Nik can us magic just as well as his sister. Demetri will also be playing a key role but I go into more detail in this imagine. You will also get to see just how powerful the twins are.

    I woke slowly, feeling as if I had only just fallen asleep before papa began to pull me back my dreams and into reality. I blinked, frowning as I turned my head, still so heavy with sleep so I could better see papa. He was crouched by the side of my bed, smiling sadly at me as he brushed the hair from my face.
   “Come my sweetest girl, you are needed in the living room.” He whispered before sliding his arms under my and cradling me against his chest as he stood. A part of me knew I should be afraid, after all I could hear the distant screams of the rest of the coven, but I couldn’t make the fear come. How could I when I safe here, papa and Niklaus would never let anything harm me. It was silly to be scared when mama and nana were down stairs, no doubt using their magic to place a barrier between the danger and all of us. I was safe, so despite the screams I let my head fall against papa’s shoulder, so sure in the knowledge of my safety.
    When we reached the bottom of the stairs mama smiled the same sad smile as she rushed over to me, leaning in so she could press a kiss to my temple. She too brushed the hair from my face, letting her hand rest on the side of my cheek for a fraction of second before letting it fall away.
    “I love you so much my Nina. Both you and Nik have been my greatest joys, my greatest blessing. There is not a thing I wouldn’t do if it meant keeping you safe. I would do it gladly, with no second thoughts other than the pain that I may not be able to stay with you. Remember that my beloved.” She whispered before stepping away, nodding grimly at papa, who instantly started off towards the living room, leaving mama standing rigid in the doorway. The fear came then, shattering the comfort I had always found in my father’s embrace.
   “Papa what is it?” I whispered, lifting my head so I could see his face. As I did I was able to see more of the room, could see that the large window in the front of it was boarded up over top of the thick black curtains. While it was dark, I could see Nik, sitting silently in front of the fire, confusion on his features as he stared up wordlessly at our grandmother.
    “A cold one my sweetest, but do not worry. We shall not let it harm either of you.” Papa explained, his voice so full of confidence that I began to relax again. Surely mama’s fear and her words were just caused by a mother’s panic. I nodded, kissing his cheek as he set me down beside Nik with another sad smile. He paused just long enough to kiss us both on the forehead before turning and making his way to the doorway. He had waited until he was safely away from us turn, a large lethal looking panther stalking forward to stand beside mama.
   “Your father is right, there is no need to fear. We have never let you come to any harm before and we do not plan to start now.” Grandmother said, her voice ringing with assurance. I nodded as I curled into Nik’s side, still so overcome with sleep that I did not feel like sitting like I knew I should be. For once grandmother let it slide, didn’t care that for the moment I was not acting like a proper young lady, after all they do not slouch when they sit. Instead she smiled softly and held her hands out before her, her fingertips just barely brushing the tops of our heads.
    All at once she began to speak quickly and in a language I had never heard before. I tried to follow along, knowing that this was some sort of ancient magic but got distracted when I noticed that I felt different. I could always feel my magic, it was like a pulse that only I could feel, but now it felt different, stronger than I was use too. While I still remained physically drained, magic wise I was starting to feel more powerful than I have ever had in my life. As the feeling grew I became aware of other things, like how I could now not only sense Nik’s emotions like I have always been able to, but his thoughts as well. I smiled softly when I noticed he felt the same shock and awe as I had, though my smile vanished when I heard him in my mind, his mental voice just as familiar to me as his physical.
     “She is giving us the covens power, that is why we are getting stronger. There is something she isn’t telling us.” I knew he was unaware that I could hear him, the shock that went through him when I agreed told me as much. I blinked, lifting my head so I could see nana more clearly, I gasped. Running between Nik and I was a thick gold band, that was pulsing in time to the magic that was growing stronger in us both. My gasp alerted nana, who remained chanting but glanced at us, eyes growing when we she too saw the band that had no began to incircle Nik and I. From the doorway I could hear mama cry of delight.
    “They will survive this. They will come out stronger than we have ever dreamed. My babies are going to be okay.” As her words echoed through the still room, the golden band completed it’s circle, forever binding Nik and I through the coven’s magic. Nana smiled and knelt before us, reaching for our hands.
    “Sleep now my dear ones, I shall explain it all when you awake. Rest easy for your mother is right, you will come out of this alive and stronger than we could have ever hoped for.” I had opened my mouth to speak, to ask Nana why she couldn’t just explain it all now but I couldn’t get the words to form before sleep overcame me.
     I awoke in the cold, dimly aware that whatever I was laying on was not only hard but so uncomfortable it was almost painful. I groaned, blinking quickly, panic momentarily rushing through me when I could see nothing but white. Understanding caused me to stop from crying out, though it did leave me more confused than before. How on Earth did I manage to get outside when I knew I had fallen asleep in the front room beside Nik. The moment I remembered my brother, my eyes shot open, making me aware that I had closed them against the falling snow and I forced my frozen muscles to sit up.
    My brother was laying beside me, covered in ice and snow but alive. He was laying on his back, someone had placed us side by side in the middle of the village, blinking up at the sky. I knew that he was aware I had moved, but he was still processing everything, I was amazed when I realized I could HEAR him as he did so.
    “Do you happen to know how we came to be in the snow?” He asked after a few moments of silence, during which I had began to look around us. I was so certain that nana had assured us she would be with us when we woke so she could explain everything.
    “No.” I sighed turning to him as he slowly began to sit up beside me. “I can hear you, in my head I mean. Can you hear me?”
    “Yes, I was hoping that the answer had changed now that you were more aware of everything.” He sighed, shaking his head before turning to smile at me. “It’s odd being able to hear you in my head. I wonder why we can suddenly do that.”
   “I was hoping to find nana to ask but..” I trailed off, moaning when I noticed the ghostly figure moving towards us. I knew before I could even properly see her that it was nana. I let out a cry of dismay, turning to fling my arms around Nik as I began to sob. She moved quickly, much more quickly then she had in life now that she didn’t have her body to slow her down, so she reached us within seconds despite the distance that had been between us.
    “Do not cry my dears, it’s okay. We all are okay.” She soothed, smiling softly at us. “I haven’t much time, the ancestors are meeting with us to discuss what has happened, it is routine so do not worry. There are things you should know though, things that are important. The last we saw one another I had performed a spell, Nik of course guessed what it was correctly. It was an old spell, one that is seldom used, it drains  the magic from a coven and places it in one person, in this case two.’
    ‘It was my hope that with enough magic you refrain from being turned into a cold one, as was Demetri’s intent. It worked much better than I could have ever imagined, simply because I did not count the magical bond that runs through you both. This bond caused the magic I was giving you to grow stronger, to make you both the strongest of our coven. I knew then, as I watched it circle you both, linking you together in a way that you hadn’t been before, that you would not only survive the change but  become something else entirely. You my dears are now half cold one, half witch. You have the heightened senses, the speed and the immortality of the cold one but the humanity of a witch. There will be nothing the two of you can not concur, nothing that will be able to harm you. That in itself is worth the price I had to pay. ‘
   ‘Now I know I have just given you both much to think about and even more to discover but I need you to be aware of one thing. The cold one that came to the village, that turned you, he is your true father. He was turned before you were born and your mother, too far gone with you both, could not destroy him. His name is Demetri and he is in love with power. When he discovers what you two are, you may in danger. I do not know if your powers will work against him, as he is of your blood. So you must promise me that you shall never allow him to see you, to discover what you are.” She spoke low and quick, her eyes blazing with intensity.
    “Of course we promise nana.” Nik vowed, his voice still thick with grief.
   “Good, now I need you both to concentrate on me, I am going to send you the memories I have of him so you know what he looks like.” We nodded, both of us closing our eyes and gasped when seconds later her mind joined with ours, memories of the cold one dancing through our minds.
  ~~~~~~~
    I woke from the dream with a gasp, sitting bolt up in bed so quickly that I gave myself a head rush. From across the room I could hear Nik groan, turning over his sleep, his dreams untroubled by our grandmother. I knew it was her that brought the memory forward, knowing that both Nik and I had locked away the memories of our early days of being a hybrid. She wanted us to remember that we were in danger. I was struggling with my breath, trying hard to calm myself down enough so I could think, when the door opened and Emmett peeked in, his brows coming together when saw me sitting up, flushed and wide eyed in panic.
    “Come and talk.” He whispered, being careful to not wake up Nik. I nodded and pushed my covers back and slide out of bed, practically running towards Emmett. He was ready for me, and caught me as I threw myself at him, my body still shaking from the fear of the crushing realization that came crashing down around me.
     “Nik and I are in danger.” I whispered, my muffled from his chest. His arms tightened and he picked me up, rushing me into the room he shared with Rose. He all but threw me down beside her before kneeling in front of me, his hands cupping my face.
   “What do you mean? What happened?” I quickly began to explain, telling them all about our final night of being fully human and the morning after we had changed. I spoke quickly, the words coming easy now that I had remembered it.
   “Okay honey I don’t get it. Why are you so certain that this Demetri knows what you two are?” Rose asked softly, her fingers running through my hair in a desperate attempt to calm me.
    “Because Edward told him. Demetri that is the tracker for the Volturi is the same Demetri that turned Nik and I. I thought he looked familiar when I Alice showed us what had happened in Italy but I couldn’t put my finger one the why. I thought it was just because of the name but I know now. When Nik and I finally awoke for the attack, Nana explained everything to us. She was the first that showed we can see others memories, but only if they allow us. She showed us the man that attacked us, that turned us, the same one who happened to be our father. It was Demetri, the same one that Alice met in Volturi, the one that now, thanks to Edward, knows not only what Nik and I can do but where we ARE.”
   They both froze as I finished, there anger at Edward and their fear for Nik and I radiating of them in waves. A part of me knew that the anger I felt at Edward, which was blood thirsty as I thought of all the people he unintentionally placed in danger, was foolish. He didn’t know that the Demetri that turned Nik and I was the same one working with the Volturi, how could he when up until tonight I didn’t. Yet I couldn’t help it, couldn’t help but remind myself that none of this would have been happening if he hadn’t been so quick to jump to conclusions.
   That all of this could have been avoided if he just asked who’s damn funeral Charlie was at Demetri would have remained clueless about Nik and I, while everything else continued to fall into place. Edward was coming back, we all knew that he would eventually return because he was miserable, which is why Nik and I had ran off to live our ghosts. Victoria of course would still be a problem, so I would have still met Jake. If the Volturi came up to investigate Victoria’s army, I could have cast a spell that would have kept us all memories of us from Aro, who we had been warned by many about how he would love nothing more than to collect us. That knowledge, the knowing that I could have kept Demetri from knowing about us but that Edward has ripped that away, was why I furious.
    “He didn’t know.” Esme whispered, surprising us as she entered the room. We had all been so lost in our own panic that we had even noticed the rest of the family, including a fuming Nik, had gathered outside the door. “If he did he never would have went to the Volturi, you have to know that.”
    “Doesn’t change anything.” Nik moaned, pushing his way past Carlisle so he could sink down beside me, his hand wrapping itself in my own as he met my gaze. “Doesn’t change the fact that Demetri knows we live with you, so even if we were to run, you would never be safe. We would never be safe. There is no guarantee that our magic will be any good against him, we can’t use it against each other, against anyone related to us by blood. We don’t know if that would change because he no longer HAS blood or not.”
   “We can still fight and we will.” Emmett vowed, his eyes begging me to believe him. It was then that I noticed Edward had returned, I knew that someone how had called him, it was still dark out so he would have been with his human. He pushed himself past everyone, ignoring the snarl of warning Nik gave as he fell to his knees beside Emmett.
    “Tell me it’s not true. Tell me I didn’t..”
   “I can’t.” I whispered, tears stinging my eyes. I always cried when I angry, when I found out I had that in common with Bella it drove me even crazier than it had before. “I can’t because you were selfish. You were so eager to kill yourself that you didn’t think of any of us, how it would affect us! You KNEW that Aro would want to add Nik and I to his guard, that he would do ANYTHING to have us and yet you went, ran off to him with no regard of what he was going to do to get us, it’s even worse because you added Alice to the list of people he wants to collect! Don’t you get it! You put us all in danger! If you had of waited, had thought about it I could have showed you that she was still alive and if she wasn’t I could helped in some way. I AM A FUCKING POWERFUL HYBRID FOR CRYING OUT LOUD. THERE IS LITTLE NIK AND I CAN’T FUCKING DO! BUT NO YOU HAD TO RUN OFF AND DAMN US ALL!”
   I wasn’t afraid of the Volturi, not really, if they didn’t have Demetri neither Nik or I would bat an eye, we had ways of protecting ourselves from them. It was Demetri that was the true reason for my anger, for the fear behind it. I had seen what he was capable of, what he was willing to do to get his hands on us. We had been human then and his fascination with us was due to us being his children, he believed he had a claim on us and that we were better off with him. Now that we were more than that, not only his children but two of the most powerful beings, there was no limit to what he wouldn’t try to do lay his hands on us. The fact that Aro wanted us would only assure that whatever he planned, left us alive and unharmed.
    I knew this but at the moment all I could see was red, all I could think of was that Edward was the cause of this and if we could get him out of the way, we would all be once again safe. Since I couldn’t kill him, that was the one limit my magic had, I could change him. Without looking away from him I waved my hand, watching as he vanished in a puff of smoke. When it cleared a pure white ferret was standing in the midst of Edward’s clothes, squeaking with alarm. Before the others could move, could demand that I turn him back, I waved my hand again, pinning them all against the wall before turning to the window. It was open and in one fluid movement I was out of it, shifting into a large snowy owl just before I could hit the ground. As I soared back up, I felt Nik join me, his mind linking with mine at once. While we were always linked, it was stronger when we were animals, it had to be since neither of us could talk any other way.
   “You will have to turn him back at some point, also you read way to much Harry Potter.”
    “He can stay a damn ferret for all I care! At least as a ferret he can’t cause any more problems. Also there is no such thing as too much Harry Potter.” I scoffed back, letting out a hoot of annoyance when he only laughed.
   “For someone who can actually use magic, there is. I mean look at the facts. First you turn Edward into a pure white ferret and then change into a snowy owl. Both are linked to Harry Potter.”
   “Regardless, there is still no such thing as too much Harry Potter.”
   “We’re going to La Push aren’t we?”
   “Yes.”
   “And if I told you that there is not reason to so freaked out, that just because all of this has happened it doesn’t mean we are in danger?” Nik asked.
    “I would say that you are over protective and no doubt trying to convince me to turn around and turn Edward human instead of letting me go to Jacob.”
     “I will meet you at La Push, I am going to turn back and get us some clothes. Enough for a couple nights. While I don’t doubt Jake would enjoy you not having clothes, I will not. I also don’t think Billy would be too pleased to wake up to naked hybrids in his house.”
   “So what your saying is that I need to wait until you arrive to go and see Jake?”
    “Yep.”
    “Your also going to turn Edward back aren’t you?”
    “Yep.”
   “Buzzkill.”
Incalescent- Chapter Three
Pairing: Paul Lahote x Fem!OC
Summary: Em just wants to be loved and have a family for once in her life. But nothing has ever gone right in her life before so why should it now?
Word Count: 8k
Warnings: gross feelings, kinda NSFW in the beginning but not really, a bit of violence
A/N: Listen, I don’t think I’m a good writer so this could be terrible! Let me know what you guys think of it!
“What if someone sees us?” I whispered, looking around the dark woods nervously. I couldn’t pick up on anything but a few animals around us, no humans, vampires or wolves. Paul laughed lightly from above me. His hands cupped my face and made me look up at him as he backed me into a tree. His hands on my felt so right but something else felt wrong.
“Then they’ll get a hell of a show,” he whispered back, his teeth bared in a cocky grin. He leaned forward and his lips met my neck urgently, placing wet kisses up until he reached my earlobe to nip it roughly.
“Paul, something doesn’t feel right,” I mumbled, trying to push him away as the pit in my stomach grew and the hair on my neck stood on end. Maybe it was being out in the open, though it was dark we were still in the woods where anyone could stumble upon us.
“C’mon, you think I’ll let anyone see my girl vulnerable like this,” he whispered against my neck, leaving a kiss before grabbing the backs of my thighs and hoisting me up. My legs instinctively wrapped around his waist, pulling him closer without a second thought.
His hands gripped onto my legs tightly, pulling me even closer as his lips met mine. There was a rustling of leaves around us, my hair lightly flew around my head. I was too caught up in kissing Paul to think of it as anything but the wind, nothing would ruin this moment.
Before I could process what was happening a larger gust of wind whipped my and I was suddenly falling to the ground. I heard Paul yell out in anger from wherever he was but I couldn’t see him. My butt hit the ground harshly, I jumped up before I could feel the pain and took a deep breath to find out what was happening.
My legs flew furiously underneath me as I ran through the woods trying to follow Paul’s scent. There were scraps of his shorts on the forest floor, he had phased which wasn’t good. That meant there was a huge threat, more than likely a vampire. Paul’s scent disappeared as I began to pick up on a familiar, sickly sweet smell. Flashes of curly red hair flew through my mind. It couldn’t be her, could it? Was she back to finally seek her revenge?
I came up to a clearing and saw Paul, blood coating his silver fur. He was laying on his side, whining quietly from pain. I couldn’t pick up on anyone in the clearing, there was no sound. There wasn’t even a rustle of leaves from wind or any animals nearby. Whatever, whoever, had done this to Paul had scared them off but seemed to be long gone.
Crouching down next to Paul I examined his injuries. None of them seemed to serious but he was in enough pain that he couldn’t phase back yet.
“Paul, come on. You have to phase back so I know how hurt you are,” I pleaded with him, lightly petting the fur of his face. His eyes held tears that he was refusing to let go. He was shaking as I shushed him and ran my hand gently over his head.  Paul suddenly let out a loud whine, his eyes going wide with fear.
Before I could react something was around my neck squeezing, my vision blurred as I kicked and flailed trying to get away. Air flooded my lungs and I fell to the ground again. I gasped for air, trying to gather myself. My vision came back completely just in time for me to see her, red hair flowing in the wind. She had her leg bent with her foot placed directly on Pauls back. She smiled sweetly at me, her head going to the side a little as I sat up.
“Long time no see,” her childlike voice cut through the silent clearing. I looked between her and Paul anxiously, she moved her foot slightly when my eyes landed on it.
“No,” I called out and she let out a childish giggle. She covered her mouth with one of her hands to pretend that she could barely control how happy she was to be here.
“Oh, you don’t want him to die?” She asked her big eyes going wide to feign innocence, her bottom lip pouting. I shook my head, my voice was frozen in my throat from fear. She giggled again this time her eyes narrowed, something evil creeping into them. It felt like hours passed as she looked at me. She watched me cry, her eyes following every tear that trickled down my face and onto the forest floor. It almost seemed to please her to see how much pain I was in.
“I heard you killed your poor, innocent mother and now you’re too scared to save this boy that you seemed very comfortable with,” with that her foot came down harshly on Paul, wet, cracking filled the clearing. As I began to scream and scramble forward, Victoria left quickly.
I sat up in my bed with a start, my blankets were wrapped like a vice around my legs. Yanking them off and throwing them to the floor I got up from my bed, trying to catch my breath. It had been a while since I had a nightmare, especially one that wasn’t completely about my mom. The pit in my stomach was there, like it had been in my dream. I grabbed the phone from my nightstand and hit Pauls contact. He probably wouldn’t even pick up, probably on patrol.
“Em? It’s the middle of the night are you alright?” He didn’t even say hello, worry lacing his voice. I gasped in shock from him actually answering, my mouth going dry.
“I, uh, had a bad dream. I’m not sure why I thought to call you,” I pressed my free hand to my sweaty forehead, trying to process my dream and my decision to call Paul.
“I’m glad you did, is there anything I can do?” He sounded tired, like he had been out all night. He had told me recently that since the Cullen’s were back and they had were taking shifts keeping Bella safe at night, until Victoria could be caught.
“I don’t think so, you sound really tired and I don’t want you to miss out on some sleep because of me,” I mumbled the last part. I really wanted someone to be here with me. Though I didn’t miss my father all that much, this house still seemed so big from being all alone in it.
“Don’t even worry about it, I’m already on my way to see you,” before I could protest the line went dead. He was at my place within two minutes. I heard the back porch door sliding open as I walked down my stairs. When I got to the kitchen he was turned away from me, sliding the door shut. When he turned around he immediately took two long strides across my kitchen and wrapped me in his arms.
“Do you have bad dreams all the time?” Paul asked me, semi muffled by my hair.
“Not all the time but with Victoria coming around and my dad being gone…” I let myself trail off, letting him put it together. Paul pulled out of the hug but kept his hands grasping my upper arms as he looked over my face.
“Do you want me or someone to start staying the night with you? Would that make you feel safer?” My instincts told me to turn him down, if my dad found out he would be furious. But I wanted Paul around, he made me feel a lot of things but the most important one was safe.
“I would like that but I don’t want it to interfere with anything you have to do with the pack,” he sighed, the corner of his mouth turning up into a small smile. He moved one of his hands to brush the hair out of my face before he responded.
“It’s not a problem at all. If you need or want me around all you have to do is say the word and I will make it work,” his eyes were sincere as he spoke. I knew he was telling the truth but I hated the thought of being a burden. I’m sure I was always able to ask my dad for help but I never did, it never seemed like the right thing to do.
“Thanks,” instead of fighting it, I just let it happen. My entire body relaxed after, though I hadn’t realized I was tense.
“The pack is a family and we’ve all decided you’re part of it now. This is what a family does for each other. I know you’re not used to that because of everything with your dad but we would all like to show you what family really is, if you’ll let us,” Paul let me go now and pulled out one of the chairs at my island for me. I sat without question and watched while he walked around my kitchen, grabbing different ingredients and turning on the stove.
“You know how to cook?” I asked, trying not to sound too skeptical. Paul just didn’t come off as someone who bothered to make anything more than toast. He turned his head away from the stove and smiled at me.
“Yeah, my dad isn’t the best cook so I had to teach myself if I didn’t want to die from food poisoning,” He joked, throwing some more of whatever he was cooking into the pan. The smells filling up my kitchen were delicious so I had to trust that he knew what he was doing. This made me picture younger Paul, barely able to see above the stove, trying to cook a meal for his father. The thought alone brought a small smile to my face.
When he was done we ate in silence. He sat next to me at the island, with his knee pressed against mine. He ate very quickly making it apparent to me that this meal was more for his benefit than mine. Paul was up getting seconds before I was even halfway through mine.
“You can really put away a ton of food,” I commented through a mouthful of food. He was shoving huge forkfuls into his mouth, seemingly unaware of the dangers of choking to death.
“One time, at a bonfire we had on the rez, I ate twenty-three hot dogs,” His chest puffed out with pride, a satisfied, toothy grin appearing on his face.
“Remind me to never challenge you to a food eating contest,” my voice probably sounded skeptical again, as I tried to calculate how anyone could eat that many hot dogs in one sitting.
“You’re telling me, as someone who is half a vampire, you couldn’t beat someone at a food eating contest? I find that hard to believe, your vampire half has to be good for something,” he countered. We were both done eating now and he was starting to clean up. He shoved my hands away when I tried to grab the plates from him to clean.
“It is good for something, all my senses are a hundred times better than a regular human. I love being able to run anywhere I want and not get tired from it. If I tried I’m sure I could outrun you,” I challenged, wagging my eyebrows at him. He walked over to my side of the counter and put his hands on either side of me, leaning down trying to look intimidating.
“I’d love to see you try,” his face was so close to mine that I could feel his warm breath fan over my face, like it had in the dream. I tried to look everywhere except for his eyes, eye contact alone would have blush rushing to my cheeks giving away how I felt. Though, I’m sure he could hear that my heart was beating faster than before.
“Challenge accepted, I can’t wait to see you lose,” I said, hoping my fake confidence would make him think that that's why my heart was beating so fast and not the fact that I had dreamt about making out with him and that everything in me was screaming at me to kiss him. Paul was quiet so I looked up into his eyes and found him staring at my lips. He looked conflicted, like he wanted to kiss me but didn’t think it was the right time. I almost rolled my eyes at my own thoughts. Of course Paul didn’t want to kiss me, it was crazy for me to even think that.
“Oh, I won’t lose,” Pauls voice came out as a hoarse whisper. He tore his eyes away from my lips and he pushed himself away from me. He held his hand out and I took it and let him lead me up the stairs to my room. “I’ll probably be gone when you wake up, I have patrol in a couple hours.”
“Thank you for staying,” I told him as I fixed the blankets on my bed. Paul stayed in the doorway, looking warily at the bed. “It’s a queen size bed, Paul. There’s enough room for both of us to sleep here without it being weird.”
“Only if you’re comfortable with that,” I nodded at him before he could say anymore. The closeness probably wouldn’t help me with my weird dreams about him but he didn’t know that and I wasn’t about to tell him. He helped me arrange my blankets and then plopped down on my bed looking like he didn’t have a care in the world.
“What was your dream about, if you don’t mind me asking?” Paul asked as I laid in the bed next to him. I pulled the blankets up under my chin and looked over at him as I tried to think of something to tell him that wasn’t totally a lie.
“Victoria came here and killed you,” I confessed. What I said seemed to surprise him, his eyebrows raised in shock as he took in what I said.
“You don’t have to worry about that. Even though she’s gotten away from us so far I wouldn’t let her kill me,” Paul assured me as he clicked off the lamp beside him that I hadn’t realized I had even turned on earlier in the night.
“You don’t know how good she is at escaping. I can’t quite remember the story my dad told me about her but what I do remember from it is that her whole coven was slaughtered by the Volturi and somehow she got away. No one gets away from the Volturi,” I shuddered while thinking of my dads face when he told me the story after we had met her. He was a vampire and therefore pale to begin with but somehow he had become paler when he told me about her and her mate, James. I was still very young at the time and I had taken the story in as a scary story, something that keeps children up at night, jumping at shadows in their room.
“I know she seems very dangerous to you but we have a whole pack of wolves keeping an eye out for her. Plus, the Cullens are back in town doing their part looking out for her too, she won’t get passed us,” he assured me again. There were a lot of people looking out for her, thinking of that made me relax again and cuddle closer to my pillow. Before I could say any more my eyes started to feel heavy and I drifted off.
The next time I opened my eyes, the sun was just coming up. The sky was still a dark blue but a red-orange hue hung on the horizon just behind the sea of trees outside my window. Paul was no longer next to me and I sighed, feeling disappointed. I knew he would be gone when I woke up, he had told me, but I couldn’t help but have hope that he would still around.
I laid in my bed for a few minutes trying to figure out what to do with my morning before school. The possibility of falling back to sleep wasn’t there, no traces of sleep were left in my eyes. I decided on a shower to start my morning, letting everything else just flow from there.
The smell of cinnamon filled the air, warmth spreading from my oven as cinnamon rolls baked. From where I sat at the kitchen island doing my homework, I could see the cinnamon filling start to bubble up telling me they were ready to come out. I had decided with my extra time I would make these for the pack, they looked like they had turned out better than expected as I pulled them out of the oven and set them to cool on the counter.
It had been a couple days since my first dinner at Emily and Sam’s house and I had been invited back every single night since, though I wondered how much of that was because of Paul's insistence. My days at school were going by so fast they were a blur. People had started to ignore me like I had wanted from the beginning and I became old news which was fantastic. Though Edward still looked at me angrily, which made me wonder what I had done to him for him to look at me that way. Him, nor the other small vampire girl, seemed to know that I was like them so it couldn’t be that.
My homework was done and the cinnamon rolls were cooling on the counter so I dashed upstairs to get dressed for school. Once I had thrown some clothes on and discarded my pajamas into my growing dirty clothes pile, I went back downstairs to cover the cinnamon rolls and grab my backpack.
The walk to school was getting easier as spring started to come, though the rain still came every day it wasn’t as cold anymore. The sun was starting to disappear behind thick, grey clouds that threatened rain. The weather was starting to look like how I felt about being in school all day instead of spending time with pack. I knew I had to go to school to keep up with the image I was portraying but it’s not what I wanted. Last night, long before my bad dreams, Emily, Leah and I had baked a bunch of cupcakes for one of Emily’s nieces. We laughed so much when Leah dropped a whole bag of flour and covered the entire kitchen and herself.
“She has to be something more,” I heard a familiar voice hiss out as I entered the school parking lot. The voice belonged to Edward, his whole body was tense as he looked at Bella and Alice. His eyes flicked over to me and I smiled trying to make it look like we made accidental eye contact and couldn’t hear him all the way across the parking lot. Alice and Bella were looking over at me now too so I averted my eyes.
“Maybe she isn’t, just because you can’t read her mind doesn’t mean she’s anything more,” I heard Alice explain to Edward in response to whatever he had been talking about before. I knew some vampires had special powers but I never heard of anything as big as being able to read minds.
“You can’t read my mind either, remember? I’m just a human,” Bella said sounding a little on edge. I could feel all of their eyes on me as I crossed the parking lot, trying to make my way to my first class.
“It’s not just that and you know it. Alice can’t see her future either, that has to mean something,” Edward hissed at both of them. I almost stopped dead in my tracks when he said Alice could see the future. That was more powerful than reading minds. Both of them had the most powerful gifts I had ever even heard of let alone come in contact with. Before I could react to anything I felt a gush of wind and suddenly someone was beside me.
“I’m Alice!” she announced cheerfully. When I glanced her way I almost had to look down at her, she was even smaller than I had thought the first time I saw her. I could tell right away as I looked at her clothes that they were designer, something I hadn’t picked up on seeing her around school but it didn’t surprise me. The vampires I had come in contact with over the years either stole their clothes or had stolen the money to buy their clothes, leaving nothing subtle about them if you saw them. Maybe all vampires had an affinity for designer things.
“Em,” I replied back to her quietly.I noticed now other students around us staring almost in disbelief. Some muttered about how the Cullens never interacted when they came here until two new girls showed up.
“Short for Clementine right?” she asked, her eyes never leaving my face as she waited for a response. I blinked almost shaking my head, shocked. Maybe she could see my future and just wasn’t letting on to the others? Or she did some extensive digging to find out.
“Uh, yeah but how did you-”
“You should sit with us at lunch today!” she suggested ignoring the question. How did she know what my real name was? I hated it and made sure no one knew it. Before I could answer to her invite she was talking again. “I think we’ll become really good friends! It’ll be so much fun! We can go shopping and have sleepovers!”
“We just met!” I tried to reason but there seemed to be no stopping her.
“I’ll see you at lunch and we can start getting to know each other better!” with that she was off, moving quickly, yet gracefully toward her next class.
Just like every other day this week my morning went by quickly and I found myself already on my way toward the cafeteria with my packed lunch in hand. They were already sitting at my table waiting for me. When Alice spotted me she began to bounce in her seat and I heard Edward whisper to her to ‘take it easy’. Any hope that they would forget vanished as I trudged over to where they sat waiting.
“You’re persistent,” I mumbled, taking my seat. The three of them sat across from me, no lunches in front of them and all eyes on me.
“I never take no for an answer! Just ask my family!” she told me sounding gleeful.
“We also know how the students here act when new girls show up,” Edward said uttering his first words to me. He wasn’t looking at me like he hated me anymore but his brow was furrowed in confusion as he looked at me.
“Ah, yes. The welcoming committee that wanted to put me on the front page of the school paper,” I shuddered at the thought and began to open up my lunch. I was going to eat even if they weren’t.
“In their defense, there isn’t much to report on in a town that’s this small,” Bella mumbled, her eyes darting to Edward. If this town only knew about vampires and werewolves that interacted with them every day then there’d be some news to report on.
“I’ve never lived in a town this small before,” I confessed, taking a bite of carrot. The snap from it so loud I almost had to wince. None of them seemed to mind that I was eating. Each one of them seemed very intent on whatever it was they thought they were going to get from this meeting. The intense looks in each of their eyes made my stomach uneasy and want to push away my lunch.
“Where did you move here from?” Alice asked, practically leaning her whole body across the table with her hands clasped together. Another one of my father's rules was to not tell anyone where we came from so they couldn’t track us. He made a good point with that rule but what would be the harm in telling these vampires where we came from?
“We just came from Maine, actually. My father is a freelancer in pricing antiques, he can do it from anywhere in the country,” I explained to them through a mouthful of turkey sandwich. The three of them nodded, taking in what I said. My father himself would be considered an antique at his age, which made his job that much funnier.
“So your father packs your lunch?” Edward asked, gesturing toward the brown paper sack in front of me. Irritation flooded through me at the insinuation that I couldn’t pack my own lunch. I quickly pushed that thought away because he was probably just prying into my background to figure out if he was right and I was indeed not just a human.
“Oh, uh, actually my friend Emily packs my lunches for me. I don’t ask or expect her to but she always does it and refuses to let me tell her no,” I told them, internally kicking myself for even bringing up my involvement with the wolves. Bella blinked in surprise while Alice and Edward shared a knowing look.
“Emily who?” Bella asked, cocking her head to the side and looking like she had just cracked a secret code.
“I, uhm, don’t actually know her last name. I’ve never asked…” I trailed off not knowing how to continue. Bella sat back seemingly satisfied with my answer while Alice and Edward shared another knowing look.
“Is she the only friend you’ve since moving here?” Alice asked resting her head on her hand and leaning impossibly closer. She visibly breathed in deeply, her nose crinkling in disgust as she did so. Edward muttered something about ‘stinking like a dog’ too low for me to be able to hear if I had been a regular human, he probably thought it was safe to do so.
“No, she’s not. There are a bunch of others who live out on the reservation. I usually see them most days but I see Paul every single day,” I felt my cheeks heat up as I thought of Paul. He was always around me, whether I was over at Emily’s or he was at mine checking on me during the night. The feelings I felt when I had first met him only seemed to amplify as the days went on. Just looking at him when he smiled at me could leave me breathless and confused.
“He’s dangerous, they all are!” Bella exclaimed a little too loudly, Edward had to put a hand on her shoulder to calm her down. She looked at him alarmed. Basing my opinion solely on her reaction to me knowing the pack she clearly knew they were wolves too.
“I don’t see how…” I shook my head slightly, trying to make them think I didn’t know. Keeping secrets was second nature to me at this point, keeping them in the dark about my knowledge wouldn’t be hard.
“You’ve been spending all your time around them and you haven’t noticed that they’re dangerous?” Edward scoffed, leaning back in his chair. His face was a mix of disbelief and anger. Alice looked the same as before, like she had found something out and Bella chewed her lip like she was worried.
“What exactly do you want from me? This feels more like an interrogation than a friendly gesture,” I asserted crossing my arms across my chest. I looked at all three of them waiting for an answer.
“We’re just trying to get to know you!” Alice defended, the cheerfulness in her voice fading quickly as her eyes darted between me and the other two. She seemed genuine but Edward and Bella were looking at me accusingly, like I had done something wrong.
“It doesn’t feel that way…” I mumbled feeling like a cornered animal. “You don’t even know me since I only moved here a week ago. You have no right to accuse my friends of being dangerous. I haven’t experienced anything close to them being dangerous, all I’ve experienced is a family that I’ve never had.”
“You don’t know them like we do,” Edward practically growled. His sudden hostility made me flinch and move my chair backwards a bit.
“Look I couldn’t care less about how you think you know someone,” I said pushing my chair back and standing up, glaring at the three of them. “I really thought that this would just be a friendly get to know the new girl lunch but my initial thought was right. I should’ve taken into consideration the fact that everyone at this school thinks you’re some weird cult. Please leave me alone from now on.”
“Em, wait-” Alice called to me as I angrily grabbed the rest of my lunch and stormed off. I threw it out as I walked out the door of the cafeteria. My father had only been gone a couple of days and I felt like I was already screwing everything up, he wouldn’t be happy when he came back and heard about my interaction with the vampires in town. Without thinking I walked out of the cafeteria and made my way home, not bothering to think about the consequences.
After the walk home, that felt shorter than ever, I threw my school stuff down and grabbed my cinnamon rolls. My mind was reeling at all the things that could happen with the Cullens. I could get attacked like my dad has been before if they found out I was a vampire in their territory. They could tear me apart in the process, ending my short, miserable life. My father would be so upset if they found out about us. If he ever found out about my involvement with the wolves he would kill all of them. I didn’t know the exact ins and out of the wolves but I imagined that my father, a 300 year old vampire, was strong enough to take on some oversized wolves all on his own and win.
Before I knew it I had crossed the river and instead of being in front of Emily’s house I was in front of a house I had never been to before. I breathed in trying to pick out the scent. The air smelled just like Paul, his unique, cinnamon like scent filling my senses. I knocked lightly on the door, feeling timid because I had never been here before. As I was about to turn away and go to Emily’s the door opened, revealing an older man who looked like Paul.
“Can I help you?” He asked, sounding tired. His clothes were covered in grease. The name tag that was clipped to his shirt unreadable from how dirty it was.
“Oh, uh, I’m Em, is Paul home?” I asked, clutching the cinnamon rolls tighter to my body. He blinked in surprise and flashed a quick smile.
“So we finally meet! I’m Paul’s father,” He held a hand out to me to shake and then moved out of the way, letting me in. “Paul got back a couple hours ago from patrol, he should be asleep in his room.”
“I’m really sorry to just drop in like this,” I mumbled as I made my way passed him and into the small house. The door clicked shut and he gestured for me to follow him.
“You’re welcome here anytime,” he assured me, his eyes sparkling as he looked at me. Everyone had been looking at me today like they knew something I didn’t and Paul's father was no exception. I smiled at him before making my way up the narrow staircase to Paul’s room.
He was fast asleep, soft snores escaping his nose. I leaned against his door frame and quietly watched him for a minute. He was always so handsome but in this moment, with a little drool forming at the corner of his mouth, he looked cute. His face was carefree, no hints of impending vampire doom to be seen. I blushed when I realized how long I had been staring at him asleep, thinking about how cute he was.
As the pink faded from my cheeks I decided that I would let him sleep. Maybe his father would like some cinnamon rolls, that way they wouldn’t go to waste. I quickly and quietly went back down the narrow staircase and found his dad in the kitchen, sitting at a table made only for two, reading a newspaper.
“I’ve decided that I am going to let him sleep,” I announced quietly, not wanting Paul’s extra keen hearing to pick up on my voice and wake him. His father lowered the paper and smiled at me, letting one side of the paper go to gesture to the chair across from him.
“Why don’t you sit down and stay a while,” His father suggested, folding the paper up and tossing it to the side. “After all, we might as well get to know each other since you’re in Paul’s life now.”
“Sure,” I mumbled quietly, my brow almost furrowing at his tone when he mentioned me being in Paul’s life now. It sounded like he meant more than the fact that I was kind of friends with Paul for a little over a week now. I set the dish down in front of him and he inhaled as he took the lid off.
“Mmm-mmm, I haven’t had homemade cinnamon rolls in years,” He said, getting up to get plates and napkins. With a small plate in front of each of us he served me a cinnamon roll then himself.
“Are you just too busy to make them?” I asked, genuinely curious. We both took bites before he wiped his mouth and began to answer my question.
“My ex wife used to bake for my son and I all the time before she suddenly left us,” There was a sadness in his eyes as he explained to me and I suddenly felt awful for asking.
“I didn’t know she left you guys, Paul hadn’t told me that yet,” My cheeks were hot with embarrassment and I couldn’t look him in the eyes. I should’ve known something was up when Paul was telling me he learned to cook because his dad was a bad one. He hadn’t mentioned his mother at all and that should’ve been a sign.
“Don’t be upset, you didn’t know. Paul never liked talking about it but I know it hurt him a lot and still does to this day,” When I did look up at him, there was a new type of sadness in his eyes. Not sadness for the wife who bailed on him but it seemed the sadness was for Paul. He started to speak again and I listened intently as he told me he regrets not being able to be there for his son more. When his wife had left and he decided to take Paul with him back to La Push he needed to work a lot of hours to provide for his son as best as he could, resulting in them not having the best emotional relationship. He said he knew that Paul understood and understands even more now but he wished they could have something more.
“I know you’ve only known him a short while but he seems happier with you around,” his dad confessed, telling me something that I already felt myself. Though I had only known him for a short time, I knew that Paul was going to be something special in my life. The thought alone almost made me cringe from how foreign it felt.
“He obviously does the same thing for me since I made these damn cinnamon rolls from scratch,” I laughed lightly, he seemed to think it was funny too and cracked a smile before taking the last bite of his cinnamon roll. There were a few creaks from above us, maybe it was Paul rolling around while he slept.
“They were delicious, I’d love for you to bring more over whenever you feel like!” He told me as he took our plates and began washing them in the sink. As I sat there listening to the water run in the sink and splash around while he scrubbed the plates, it made me wonder. Did he know his son could phase into a wolf? Did he know about the huge coven of vampires that lived one town over? Did he know that he had just sat across from someone who was half a vampire?
“What’d I miss?” A groggy voice asked from the doorway to the kitchen. I looked over and saw Paul standing there in only sweatpants. They were hanging off his lips lower than what would be considered appropriate, my cheeks started to heat up violently and I had to look away. He hadn’t been shirtless when he was at my house earlier, something that I hadn’t even noticed at the time.
“You almost missed out on these cinnamon rolls, son,” Paul’s dad informed him, pointing a freshly cleaned plate at the tray of them.
“I should’ve eaten them all to prove to you that I could,” I teased as Paul sat across from me, taking huge bites of his cinnamon rolls. He smiled at me through a mouthful, a piece of food falling out of his mouth and making me giggle.
“Anymore nightmares?” Paul asked me quietly, his eyes darted over to his dad to indicate why he was whispering. I shook my head in response, he seemed satisfied and sat back in his chair. He winked at me and then looked over at his dad.
“Hey, Pop?” He called over to his dad. When his dad looked over he continued, “Did you ever think you’d have a vampire in your house?”
My eyes almost popped out of my head at his question to his dad. His dad laughed a little, shaking his head as put away some dishes.
“Does she even count as one? She’s only half,” Paul’s dad was done with the few dishes at this point and leaned on the counter facing us. He didn’t seem upset that it was brought up that I was a vampire. He even looked kind of happy.
“I’m still stronger and faster than even the most fit human,” I defended myself, now that I knew it wasn’t bad that this was brought up. “So yes, it does count.”
“I never thought any of this would happen, if we’re being honest. I grew up hearing the tribes legends but I never thought they were anything but a nice fairytale. Then one day Paul and I were outback, working in the yard and he just turned into a wolf. Damn near gave me a heart attack,” Pauls dad wasn’t looking at us now, his eyes elsewhere, seeing a memory that I was not present for.
“Now look at me,” Paul said, spreading his arms out. “I grew over six inches because of it and I’m built like a God.”
“I thought the God’s were supposed to be gorgeous, other worldly looking beings and not some mediocre looking boy,” my tone was sarcastic, letting Paul and his dad know I was clearly joking. Paul’s dad had to wipe the tears from his eyes when he was done laughing. Paul was clutching at his chest, pretending to be wounded by what I had said.
“Em, I thought you liked me,” he said, gasping for breath and pretending to wipe tears from his eyes.
“What gave you that impression? I am a vampire after all maybe I’m playing you and you’re going to be just another victim,” I said, leaning back in my chair and shrugging my shoulders at him.
“You’ve really met your match, son,” Paul’s dad commented, he was shaking his head with a smile on his face as he left the kitchen to give us some privacy. Their interaction gave me so much insight on what their relationship was like. I could already tell it was way better than anything my father and I had. This was a real family, two people who actually cared for each other and making it work. This wasn’t just two people who happened to be blood forcing it because one of them made a promise to a dying woman that they wouldn’t fully keep.
“Shouldn’t you be in school?” Paul suddenly asked, breaking me from my thoughts. It was good that he had changed the subject because I was ready to spiral just thinking about my father. Every thought of him and what I wished we could have been ripped a new hwole in my chest if I let it.
“That’s actually what I came to talk to you about. The Cullen’s invited me to sit with them today and then it turned into an interrogation. I have a feeling they know that I’m more than just some human but my dad made it clear that I was supposed to keep myself as hidden as possible and with the whole pack already knowing I don’t want my dad to find out that too many people knew,” I was rambling, a cold sweat covering my body. Paul leaned across the table and took my hand in his, squeezing to reassure me.
“I know you don’t want your dad to find out and I know you know my opinion of the Cullen’s but I do think they would understand and not let your dad find out that they know,” Paul pulled me up by the hand he was holding and walked me outside.
“Where are we going?” I asked, as we walked slowly down the road.
“To the beach,” He said, sounding proud. “I like to go there when I need time to think or when I need to sit down and really talk something through. My dad always took me as a kid when he thought I needed to talk. At the time I never talked but I kept up the habit as I got older and it makes me feel better every time. “
Paul and I continued to walk hand in hand down the road toward a beach I had yet to go to. The sun was now coming out and warming up the air around us. Going to the beach did sound like everything I needed right now. There were so many things on my mind, old and new. There were so many things I wanted to talk about with Paul but found myself not able to. Like my mother. I know I had mentioned killing her when we first met, he had yet to bring it up and I wasn’t about to volunteer information that could get all the new people in my life to hate me.
When the beach came into view the sun was fully out. The sound of waves crashing along the shoreline started to soothe me before we were even fully on the beach. There were a few logs scattered here and there, Paul picked one and plopped down, pulling me with him. With my head resting on his shoulder and his arm around mine, pulling me closer to him I told him everything that happened with the Cullen’s and he assured me that they would be fine. He assumed they probably now knew what I was because Jacob had gone and seen Bella today and her boyfriend Edward could read minds and probably figured everything out.
That thought didn’t make me feel better, the more people that knew meant the more in danger I was. I had no real idea what my father was capable of. I didn’t even really know him, something I hadn’t thought of before but since everything about my mom came out had me questioning everything I thought I had known.
I was cozy up against Paul, my cheek now pressed against his chest and my arm around his torso. My dream was at the forefront of my mind again. I had never been to a town and met a guy that I liked, though I never had a real opportunity. The short time Paul and I had known each other I had developed strong emotions toward him. They were stronger and felt different from the emotions I had started to feel for Emily, Leah and anyone else in the pack. I didn’t know what they were and I was thinking it was beginning to swallow my nerves and just ask Paul about it. He had been exposed to people all his life and probably had insight on whatever this was.
“Is something bothering you, Em?” Paul asked, before I could even say anything that had been on my mind. I pulled away from him and looked out over the water. The sun was now setting, the sky a beautiful mix of orange and the incoming dark blue.
“Nothings really bothering me but I have so many things on my mind that I don’t understand because I’ve never experienced them before. I’m unsure of what any of it means,” I slumped back against the log, feeling a tiny bit defeated now that I had started to put my thoughts out there. Paul’s hand went to my thigh, his thumb rubbing back and forth trying to comfort me.
“Em, I know we haven't known each other long but you can tell me anything,” he sounded sincere when he spoke.
“This is going to sound crazy,” I began, feeling lightheaded. My words were suddenly all jumbled in my mouth and I didn’t know which ones to use next. Paul nodded slightly for me to continue. “I feel something for you. More than any emotions I’ve felt for anyone and they’re different from the ones I feel for Emily, Leah or really anyone. I’ve never felt them before and I don’t know what they mean. I feel safe with you, at home. Which is crazy because we just met and I probably shouldn’t be feeling at home with you yet-”
Before I could continue more of my rambling Paul leaned forward and pressed his lips to mine. I had seen stuff like this before in movies. The guy would do this to get the girl to stop rambling and it was supposed to be super romantic. I couldn’t lie, it did feel romantic. Even though my brain was trying to be logical and get me to stop kissing this guy I barely knew, my body wouldn’t let me stop. His lips against mine felt natural, good. His hand that was once on my thigh was now on my face, pulling me closer to him.
My mouth fell into a pout when Paul broke the kiss. His chest heaving as he looked over my face, waiting to see my reaction. My face felt hot, my whole body did. My thoughts were even more jumbled than before as I looked over his face. Now that I had felt them against mine, his lips looked so inviting. I wanted to lean forward and press mine to them again and not finish this conversation.
“I’ll explain everything to you,” Paul told me. His hand was still on my cheek and I leaned into it happily. I trusted Paul so I knew he would tell me everything I needed to know. I knew he would take care of me. In that moment it dawned on me what my feelings were. I almost blinked in surprise at the thought but I pushed it away because it was far too soon to be in love.
Chapter 25: Clear
Tumblr media
Grace had no idea how or when she made it home. The rest of the day was a blur or spent unconscious or spent recasting to the stupid, same old place in the middle of the forest.
The next conscious moment she recalled with clarity was waking up in her bed to muffled voices: Edward and Bella. The last thing she clearly heard was Bella saying “—tried everything! He’s not answering.” before Edward gently hushed her indicating that Grace was awake.
She knew they were talking about her but didn’t care and as she drifted off back to sleep, she heard Edward mutter, “We’ll find him.”
Grace woke the next morning, the day before the fight was expected to happen, and felt oddly lighter. She didn’t feel better, but a weight had lifted off of her. Maybe seeing Paul had been a good thing and she could work on letting him go too. At this thought though, Grace sucked in a painful breath and took her time getting up and out of bed. Too soon.
Once out of bed, she pulled her long hair out of her face into a presentable ponytail, some jean shorts and a white baggy t-shirt. She headed down the steps to the smell of breakfast cooking in the kitchen. As she rounded the corner, Charlie sat at the little dining table finishing his breakfast, decked out in his fishing gear. Sue Clearwater was packing their provisions into a small cooler to take with them on their 2-day trip to Fraser River to get them out of  the area for the fight. Bella was taking no chances.
Grace leaned against the door frame and crossed her arms watching Bella push a massive amount of scrambled eggs around in the pan. Bacon was cooking on the back stove, she must have cooked an entire slab, the pan was overflowing.
“Hey,” Grace said in a small voice.
“Hey! You’re up! Hungry?” Bella gestured to the food. Grace nodded lightly and eyed the pan.
“That’s a lot of food,” Grace raised an eyebrow.
“Good, cos I’m starving,” a warm, comforting voice carrying a hint of a smile came from the other side of the kitchen that connected into the living room.
“Jacob.” Grace whispered, her eyes connecting with his before bounding over to him and crashing her body into his. She wrapped her arms around his upper chest and under his arms like a child hugs an adult, but she didn’t care. Everything had felt so cold since she and Paul had separated and now, warmth rushed through her body causing her to shiver with relief.
Jacob eagerly wrapped his arms over her shoulders and down around her back, leaning forward to whisper softly in her ear, “You okay?”
Grace tried so hard to hold it together in that moment but she couldn’t help a sob from escaping her throat. She clasped her hand around her right wrist behind his back and pulled tightly into him, trying to squelch any sounds from escaping her lips with his body. Her tears wetted his dark blue shirt and he just held her there gently swaying her back and forth.
“You got this?” Charlie put a hand on Jake’s shoulder as he held his tackle box in his other hand.
“I got this,” Jake said confidently.
Charlie smoothed Grace’s hair down absently for a moment and then headed toward the door.
“Have fun!” Bella called behind them.
“We will!” Sue said to the sound of the screen door clapping shut behind them. Grace took deep steady breaths as she continued to hold onto Jake, loosening her grip ever so slightly and laying her left cheek to his clothed chest. Her body had ached so long for that warmth and she felt something in her mending ever so slightly. She didn’t feel whole just yet, but Jake being there took some of the pain off of her that she had tried so hard to release when she saw Paul yesterday.
“Let’s eat, yeah?” he said and dipped his head to look at her face. She nodded, still breathing heavily, tears having stained her cheeks despite her best efforts. Jacob cupped her right cheek in his hand and wiped the tears with his calloused thumb before giving her a reassuring smile. He walked her over to the kitchen table and she slumped into the chair across from him. Bella set some plates down in front of each of them and spread jam across her toast, taking a seat facing the small window. Grace looked at her food for a second still trying to come back down for her emotional high. Things swam in front of her, her head foggy.
“Grace, eat.” Jake said before digging in, giving her a worried look. She straightened up a little and moved over her plate, slowly taking bites and sitting back in her chair to chew. When she looked to her right over Bella’s shoulder, Edward was sauntering in.
“That’s new,” he said, gesturing to Grace eating. “Took you long enough.” He jabbed at Jake.
Jacob returned the comment with a scathing look. “You know you didn’t have to tackle me. If I’d known I was being summoned, I would have come.”
“Keep your phone on then and I won’t have to come looking for you next time.” Edward said jovially.
“Anyways, the plan is to get you two into the mountains. Seth will be there as a guard, but with Bella’s scent placed everywhere in the clearing, it shouldn’t be difficult to keep the vampires there.”
“Wait what?” Grace said, trying to clear the fog in her brain.
“We need Bella away from the area, but not so far enough away that I can’t get to her if I need to,” Edward replied smoothly. Bella watched Grace’s face carefully.
“You’ll need to recast you and Bella to the location,” Jake said, staring at her seriously. Grace looked from Edward to Jake.
“So you’re going to leave her there with Seth?” Grace felt dumb. “No offense but if something were to get to Bella, Seth isn’t the best defense just yet.”
“You’ll be there to protect her. If danger pops up, you can easily recast her away to another location.” Edward said simply.
“That doesn’t make any sense. I’ll be in the clearing with everyone else,” the fog persisted but she was slowly coming to a realization.
“No.” Jake said firmly, “You won’t. We’re not risking you to an army of newborn vampires. You’ll be away, safe in an isolated location with Bella.”
“The fuck I am,” Grace said dropping her fork with a clatter on her plate.
“Grace,” Bella pleaded.
“No. I’m not letting you guys do this without me. Edward can stay with Bella,” Grace pointed at Edward, like a child accusing a sibling. He let out a scoff. Jake glared at Grace. “What?!” she said, voice raised. Okay, she was a little emotionally uneven right now, she’d admit, but that wasn’t an excuse to box her out of the fight.
“Forgot how stubborn you were,” Jake said casually, returning to shovelling eggs and bacon into his mouth. Grace rolled her eyes and looked back to Edward.
“I’ll get her there but I’m not staying, so figure something else out.” Grace said definitively, crossing her arms.
“You’ll have to talk to Sam then,” Edward replied, digging in his heels and keeping his voice curt.
“Oooh, I’m so scared.” Grace taunted. Bella had her head in her hands now. “I can do more than just recast you know.” Jake looked at her suddenly giving her a warning look. Edward waited to hear more but Grace decided not to offer additional information, squirming a little under Jake’s look.
“Grace, I’d feel better if you were with me. I don’t want you in the fight as much as Edward, but at least if you’re there I’ll know we’re safe together.” Bella said softly. Grace rested her eyes on her uncrossing her arms and leaning forward to Bella.
“I understand, but I can’t leave them out there,” she motioned to Jake.
“You can and you will,” Jake said between mouthfuls. Grace glared at him. Now she was careening toward annoyance at his presence even though when he left she knew the cold would return. “Because Sam’s gonna make you.” Jake gave her a knowing, harsh look.
Grace tightened at this, her whole body starting to shake and shimmer. Her emotions were on a hairpin trigger as it were. She heard an echo of her name as someone, maybe Jake, maybe Bella, called out to her before she recast. Then, she was in the same thicket of wood she’d ended up in the past few days.
Again.
She was standing in the fern covered ground, as if she had just been dropped there. She threw her head back and let out a low groan:
“Uuuuugh, why?! Why am I here?” she asked no one.
Fine. If something was bringing her here, she needed to figure out what it was. She surveyed the densely vegetated area and picked a direction, taking large steps over the choke of ferns, vines, and brush. Grace could hear the ocean nearby and the birds trilled and dove above her high in the trees. After a few minutes walking through the trees, she came to a clearing.
Grace audibly gasped. The clearing she had come into was actually a cove. She faced the side of an old dilapidated house that faced out toward the lapping waves in the large oval shaped cove. She stepped out of the brush toward the moss covered home. The roof was sagging on one side and it definitely had weathered more than one storm.
Grace came around to the front of the home and tentatively tested the porch steps. It led up to a wide and deep covered porch. It seemed okay but she tread lightly anyway. The house was on the small side but breathtaking with wide old windows laid into the front that reflected the ocean at her. She tried the door and it swung open easily.
Abandoned. Empty.
When she crossed the threshold, she felt that familiar rush move through her that she now recognized as a signal of change, a shift in her destiny, the page turning. She took a deep breath and stood in the doorway all at once feeling alone, but home.
Grace zipped close the duffel bag she was meant to bring with her to the campsite.
“You know where you’re going?” Sam said standing next to her in the clearing. Bella was finishing up rubbing her blood on everything and Grace grimaced at the coppery smell that lingered around.
“Yes.” she said with a huff, shouldering the bag and looking up at him. She zipped up her coat. Even in the warm May weather, it would be quite a bit cooler up the mountain.
“Just listen for Jake’s voice and you’ll be able to see if a threat is coming, okay?” Sam said, fully acknowledging that she was more directly linked with Jacob from afar than him.
“Okay. Anything else?” Grace said. He’d already given her the Alpha order that she wasn’t allowed to join the fight under any circumstances. To which she had almost lunged at him for before Jacob put a hand defensively around her. He waited for her to look at him in the eyes before he said.
“Nope, just stay put with Bella until we give the all clear. Understood?” He thought he’d just toss on an extra dose of the alpha just in case the first one hadn’t sunk in. Grace bit the inside of her cheek, irritated and gave a curt.
“Mmmhmm,” before turning to see Jake and Bella approaching. Edward left his family’s group to come and say goodbye to Bella.
“Ready?” Jake said. Grace, hands on her hips nodded again and Jake ran a hand down her arm before nodding at her, “Everything’s going to be okay.” He hesitated before jogging off with Sam to look at her just a little bit longer. Grace held back the emotion threatening to spill out and bounced her leg nervously.
“I know. Be careful,” she edged out. Jacob nodded and looked over her shoulder at Edward, signaling his was off and then he turned to leave. The pull in her stomach jerked toward him as he ran and Grace winced.
Grace turned to Bella who held out her hand after giving Edward one last long kiss.
“Stay together,” he said strongly before Grace had heard enough and recast them easily to their targeted destination. Edward had gone ahead and set up their campsite earlier the night before. Grace dropped the duffel bag near the tent and turned to look at Bella.
“Well. This will be fun.” Grace said sarcastically.
“Thank you for staying with me,” Bella said softly. Grace immediately melted some.
“I know. Of course. I’m sorry I’m just…” Grace faltered.
“It’s okay. I know the feeling.” Bella could see that Grace was trying to keep it together despite everything that had just happened over the last week. “It’ll take time to feel okay again. At least I think it will? Jacob was the only thing that could make me feel slightly better afterward.” She said shoving her hands in her pockets.
“Same,” Grace breathed.
“Two peas in a pod.” Bella joked.
As the night drew on, Grace and Bella settled into their sleeping bags around the campfire where they had roasted some peppers and warmed up some of Emily’s homemade vegetarian soup made special for Bella. They had zipped their sleeping bags together and were huddled under it spooning soup into their mouth when Seth bounded up the hill.
Grace could feel him coming early on as she listened for Jake, but she still acted surprised when he appeared.
“Seth-a-rino!” She said happily clanking her bowl of soup with Bella’s. “The party starts!”
Are you drunk? She could hear Seth ask jokingly.
“What? Of course not.” Grace said, confused. Bella looked at Grace curiously since she hadn’t heard what Seth had said, but she waved her off. Seth acknowledged her weird mood swing and came to sit beside them in his wolf form. He radiated hotter than the bonfire ahead of them.
“What do you think it’s gonna be like tomorrow?” Grace asked Bella. “You’ve had way more encounters with vicious vampires than I have to be fair.” Bella nodded at this.
“I’m not sure. A few vampires is one thing, but an entire army of newborns? I was in an entire ancient den of probably the most dangerous vampires in the world and I still couldn’t tell you. But I know it will probably be terrifying.”
Grace breathed out, listening for echoes in the distance. Voices calling out to her in rounds, but no one did. Seth’s even wolf puffs of breath indicated he had fallen asleep. Grace watched the flames of the fire until they died down to an ashen burn before nudging a sleeping Bella awake to go sleep in the tent.
The morning of the fight dawned on Grace excruciatingly slowly. She paced up and down the side hill training her ear for Jacob. She heard echoing voices that didn’t say much, just communicated how excited, how pumped, how scared or nervous they were for the fight to start. They were meant to stay on the eastern part of the forest and slowly surround once the vampires had been drawn into Bella’s blood-soaked clearing.
Alice confirmed with Edward who relayed to Sam that the newborns were on their way and would be there soon. The message echoed down the line. Grace felt a lump form in her throat as she repeated over and over again so Jacob would hear her.
Be careful. Be careful. Please be careful.
She was surprised by the volley of answers calling out to her.
We will.
We’ve got this.
Stay put.
They won’t know what hits them.
Can’t wait to take them down.
They’re the ones that should be careful.
Let’s rock this shit.
Grace laughed a little, reassured by the confident voices and closed her eyes to try and see through Jacob’s eyes what was happening. The image flickered off and on for her—she hadn’t practiced this form of communication as much with him. But she was able to see that they were falling into formation and the sickening smell of the vampires was growing as they descended on the clearing.
The Cullen’s stood ready. Grace felt a warm hand in hers and felt Bella beside her, leaning in like she could hear what was happening too, but watching Grace’s face for cues.
“They’re here.” Grace echoed and she saw, horrifyingly, as the newborns stomped into the clearing. The Cullens didn’t hesitate intercepting them as the huge throng of 23 strong newborns launched at them. They volleyed for two minutes, mostly ducking and moving out of the newborns way to get them deeper into the clearing and buy the wolves time to surround the clearing and then--
Grace heard the command from Sam to charge in and she tightened her hold on Bella’s hand.
“What? What?!” Bella asked frantic clutching Grace’s hand back. Grace focused and shook her head. She followed Jacob’s sight through the throng. He lunged and ripped and tore at each newborn that came into close contact.
Then he careened back, changing course and lunging across the field over bodies and bodies fighting to intercept and pull a newborn that had clung to Embry’s back. He and Sam ran rings around the group, trying to keep up but—
“They’re outnumbered.” Grace breathed. And then, she saw the red head, Victoria, move into the field, frantically searching and locking eyes with Edward across the field. Edward was on her in a second and they were locked in an exchange of blows. Edward tossed her across the field and Quil went to intercept but got flung back by a large newborn that crunched him into a tree.
Grace sucked in a deep breath and tensed. Jake was there in a second to pull the newborn down and Quil quickly rejoined the fight, shaken but undeterred. The newborns were fast, just as Jasper had described, and they were outpacing the wolves and the Cullens were having trouble keeping up. Each time one of the wolves pulled a newborn to the ground, a Cullen would come to try and pull the newborn apart, but frustratingly, the newborns would wiggle free and dart away more often than not and continue the tireless fight. After ten minutes of this, Their numbers had barely diminished.
Grace was growing worried as the wolves continued, their senses dialed to ten. But she knew it wouldn’t last forever. They’d get tired and then they’d be in trouble. Jacob was having more success taking some newborns down but when Paul was suddenly knocked from his feet, Grace couldn’t help but yell out in pain as the newborn came down on top of him, snapping his collarbone. Paul yelped and Grace snapped her eyes open. The alpha order melted away and she felt it’s release.
“Grace wait!” Bella said seeing a dangerous look in her eye. Seth whimpered and tried pleading too.
You’re supposed to stay with me and Bella, Grace. Sam said, remember?
“Stay here, Seth.” Grace was calm, she felt the air move easily around her as she recast and heard a rushing sound, a change as she reappeared directly in the middle of the clearing, the fight raging around her. She knew she had to do something, but no sooner had she got there than suddenly, the newborns froze and their gaze snapped to her. The Cullens and wolves instantly moved to try and tackle the temporarily distracted newborns but it caused them to move faster, surrounding Grace in their fury.
She smelled very very good to them, temporarily overpowering Bella’s scent in the clearing. Her heartbeat echoed in their newly defined ears. They were drawn to her like moths to a particularly lit flame.
Bait. She was bait. Fuck.
Grace hadn’t anticipated this reaction and braced herself for the onslaught not sure what to do next. The wolves dashed toward her, somehow in this moment outpacing the vampires as adrenaline shot through them at seeing Grace there. They made a crushing circle around Grace facing the newborns. Furious voices filled her head as the wolves cursed at her for being there.
Jesus, Grace.
You couldn’t just stay put.
I swear to fucking god if we die, I’m gonna be so pissed.
As the newborns crushed in on top of the wolves and the Cullens tried to pull them off from the outside, Grace saw an opening. She had to act fast.
She recast outside of the tight circle of snapping, growling, shattering, and bludgeoning and moved quickly around the edge of the circle.
She reached through one of the Cullen’s arms, Emmett by the size of it, and onto a newborn they had. She yelled “Let go!” and they did. Grace recast carrying the newborn out of the crush just a few feet from the circle. Then in one swift motion she pulled her energy up, hardened it, and smashed it down toward the ground as hard as she could onto the unsuspecting newborn that had been sprawled out on the grass, cleanly severing it’s head and smashing it’s arms in the process.
Satisfied with this result, she repeated it more times than she could keep up with, constantly recasting in and around the circle, pulling newborn after newborn free and smashing them to bits on the ground. The Cullens, catching on, broke from the circle and picked up the mess of limbs and threw it on a waiting fire. The wolves were able to push the diminished crowd of newborns back as Grace moved quickly. The rest seemed easy.
Grace saw Edward out of the corner of her eye give her a menacing look and take off through the trees. She had left Bella alone and unprotected. She tried to shout after him but the momentary distraction had given a newborn the opening they needed to crash into Grace, tackling her from around the waist and smashing her against a tree.
Blood poured from her mouth at the force of the impact and she temporarily slumped to the ground after the newborn had pulled back, hand raised to bash in her skull no doubt. But that blow never came—Jacob and Paul crashed through the clearing, one going for the head, the other going for the body and ripped the newborn to literal shreds, not stopping until he was practically dust.
Grace picked herself up and leaned back against the tree taking deep gulping breaths, the blood soaking the front of her shirt. She tried to assess her internal injuries but in her heightened state was unable to focus on one point of pain long enough before it subsided. Jake and Paul stood guard in front of her scanning the field as the others took down newborn after newborn. The wolves were taking the rest down 2-1.
Her eyes widened as she heard a distance, echoing voice rise up through the back of her head.
Grace! Grace help!
 “Seth!” Grace recast, envisioning the campsite and holding onto Seth’s form in her mind.
Jacob and Paul swung around to where she had stood, eyes wide, before jumping back in to take care of the rest of them at Sam’s command. When Grace recast at the campsite, her eyes widened as she took in the scene.
Edward was on his knees, held by Victoria at the throat as another blonde newborn held him down. Bella was screaming and about to launch toward them but Grace was faster. Seth was mid-air when she recast and slid into the blonde’s legs like she was sliding into homebase, knocking him unexpectedly off his feet. Seth grabbed his head in his mouth and tore it cleanly from his shoulders.
Grace tossed the beheaded body aside and Seth had at it. Edward was able to get on his feet, and take Victoria down to the ground. Grace strode over, lifted her leg as high as she could and brought it down with a satisfying crunch into Victoria’s face. She ground her heel into her neck, severing it from her body. Edward flicked open a lighter and threw it on the bonfire, stacking Victoria’s body on the blaze and immediately crossed to Bella. Grace tossed the severed head and limbs of the blonde vampire on as well, her breathing raspy and uneven.
“Grace?” Bella said, concerned as Edward wrapped his arms around her pulling her into him.
Blood covered Grace’s shirt but she didn’t feel injured. She must be in shock. Then a scene flickered in front of her eyes. Leah spotted a newborn hiding in the trees and went after it. Her takedown was messy and the newborn quickly got his arms around her. Whimpering and calling out for help, the pack snapped into action. Sam cried out “Leah!” desperately trying to reach her.
But Jacob got there first, pulling the vampire off. He stumbled in his haste to free Leah and the newborn got the upper hand again, quickly wrapping his arms around Jacob. Grace heard a sickening crunch and screamed, recasting into the clearing as she saw Jake’s body fall to the ground.
Every piece of energy she felt around her roiled and built up in the ground beneath her like an unconscious call. She realized her scream was echoing and pushing out around her and in the next moment, the energy like a hot, crashing wave moved out from around her and pushed everything in the clearing away, including the wolves and the Cullen’s who were thrown into the forest. The newborn who had been poised above Jacob felt the full force of it and slammed back into a tree, cracking his head at the neck so it was almost severed but not quite. Jacob’s body was untouched.
Trees fell from the impact of the energy and crashed into the ground like giant booming dominoes. Grace quickly ran to Jacob who had unphased in his agony before passing out.
“Jake?!” she yelled in a broken sob.
The others were on her in a second crowding around Jacob. Paul put his arms under Grace’s shoulders and hoisted her back away from Jacob despite her screams and clawing forward to get to him. The pack quickly and carefully picked him up walking out of the clearing. She heard a muffled sound and saw Carlisle shout something at them. But she was losing consciousness.
The massive amount of energy she had expelled to clear their battleground had drained everything from her. Paul caught her under the knees as she buckled and let herself get swallowed up in the darkness, the noise and rush still crashing around in her head.
Emily is smart, so why is it that she can’t seem to figure out the relationships going on in the a cappella world at Barden University?
In which Emily tries to figure out who each of the Bellas are dating.
* * *
Here’s the thing: Emily Junk is smart. She knows she’s smart. Not everyone can go through high school with an almost perfect 4.0 (stupid biology) like Emily did, which she could do because she’s smart. Book-smart, at least. She may still have some work to do in the street smarts category.
Still. SMART.
But if she’s so smart, why is it that she can’t seem to figure out the relationships going on in the a cappella world at Barden University?
There are the obvious ones where she doesn’t even have to know the two people involved to know that they’re an item: the one guy from the Trebles and the one girl from the Harmonics, the two girls from the High Notes, and those two guys from the Harmonics. There are obvious couples at Barden, but Emily isn’t concerned with any of them.
Emily wants to know who the Bellas are dating. She needs to know who her family loves, so she can love them, too… only, in a different way. She doesn’t want to love love who her family loves, because that would be so wrong. She doesn’t want to get in the way of anyone’s relationship.
The only problem is, no one tells her anything. Granted, she doesn’t ask, but still. No one tells her “This is my boyfriend,” or “This is my girlfriend,” or even “This is the person I slept with last night but we’re not going to date or anything because I don’t really like them all that much.”
No one tells her any of that, and it’s driving her crazy.
So Emily makes it her self-appointed secret mission to find out who each of the Bellas are dating.
She finds out that Flo isn’t dating anyone pretty quick. When Emily asks her, casually, totally not suspiciously, one day if she was seeing anyone, Flo’s answer is, “Men are dogs. They will take away all that you have worked hard for and sell you to their worthless brother without batting an eye, forcing you to escape under the cover of night after crushing sleeping pills in their dinner.”
Emily had just stared at her, wide-eyed and scared, and Flo concluded by saying, “So no, I will not willingly give myself up for a man again until he has rightfully earned his way into my presence.”
Emily tries not to have too many conversations with Flo after that.
She assumes Lilly isn’t dating anyone. Emily doesn’t think she’ll ever actually find a way to confirm this assumption, because when Emily asked if she liked anyone, Lilly had whispered something about crystal martini glasses and shampoo bottles and walked away.
Emily tries to avoid Lilly, too.
Jessica and Ashley are probably dating each other. Emily doesn’t know for sure, though, because anytime she tries talking to one or both of them, Fat Amy or Stacie or somebody else starts shouting about something, demanding the attention of the entire room. Emily’s confused about how that happens every time, but Jessica and Ashley don’t seem too surprised.
The two of them cuddle in the armchair during movie nights, and do each other’s hair when they’re hanging out in the living room. Jessica likes to steal Ashley’s high school letterman jacket when it gets chilly outside, and Ashley will always steal food from Jessica’s plate when they all go out to eat together. Emily doesn’t know for sure if they’re dating or not, but she fully supports it if they are.
She finds out about Amy’s… intimate partner in a way that she really wishes she hadn’t. Really, if she could forget it, she would. Unfortunately, it seems that the scene that played out is now burned into her long-term memory.
Emily’s last class of the day (biology, ugh) had gotten cancelled one seemingly innocent Tuesday. With glee, Emily had rushed across campus towards the Bella house to see if any of the Bellas were home already. Chloe had said that she was free to come and go at the house however she pleased, so Emily tended to just head over anytime she didn’t have anywhere else to be. Plus, her roommate, Drusilla (Drusilla?), was weird- like, painted her half of the room black the first day they got there, only sleeps for about two hours a night because she’s up writing poetry all night weird.
So Emily tended to spend less time at her own dorm and more time at the Bella house.
When Emily made it up to the front door, she could already hear noises coming from inside. Loud noises. Excited, Emily figured that there was already a few girls home and pushed the door open. She stepped into the living room, already talking about how her class got cancelled, looked up and-
There on the kitchen table, visible from the living room, lay Fat Amy, in the nude, with Bumper doing something involving whipped cream and oh gosh what was that-
Emily had clamped both her hands over her eyes, spun on her heel, and marched- no, ran- out the door. She didn’t uncover her eyes until she’d made it all the way down the driveway and accidentally bumped into someone walking by. Cheeks burning, Emily had walked back to her dorm, ready to rub her eyeballs with soap if that’s what it took to get that image out of her head.
Emily always texted Chloe or Beca or any of the other Bellas before heading to the Bella house now. Even Drusilla and her poems about the beauty of moths were better than the risk of seeing Fat Amy’s baby shoot for a third time.
So Emily knew about Amy and Bumper, even if she wished she’d found out in literally any other way. She didn’t know how public that information was to the rest of the world, though, so she kept it to herself. She also didn’t think Amy knew she knew, because she seemed pretty occupied when the whole terrible event transpired.
At first, Emily thought Cynthia Rose and Stacie were dating, but a closer look at the pair quickly shut down that theory. It was an easy mistake to make, really. Those two flirted with each other so much that Emily wasn’t sure they had ever had a conversation that wasn’t filled with winks and sexual innuendos.
After one late night conversation with Cynthia Rose, though, Emily learned the truth. All the other Bellas had either gone to bed, were out partying, or locked away studying, but Cynthia Rose had been up watching some TV show Emily didn’t recognize. So, she and Emily started talking and pretty soon Emily was sharing her fears about college and the real world, and Cynthia Rose had turned out to be a really great person to confide in.
Towards the end of their late night therapy session, Cynthia Rose’s phone had lit up with some notification. Emily happened to glance down and she saw that her phone background featured her kissing the cheek of a cute blonde girl.
“Who’s that in your background?” Emily had asked, pointing at the device. Cynthia Rose picked up her phone and looked at the picture, smiling.
“That’s my girl,” she had said fondly, eyes softening and smile widening. “Amber.”
Emily had squealed and immediately launched into question after question about Amber, all of which Cynthia Rose patiently answered with a twinkle in her eye.
When it came to Stacie, Emily was honestly too scared to ask her what her dating life was like. She knew that she slept with many different people on a fairly regular basis (anyone that had ever had a two-minute conversation with Stacie would know that), but she didn’t know if any of them had ever been anything serious, or if Stacie had ever had real feelings for anyone ever. She was nervous to ask Stacie these things herself, because she didn’t know how in depth her answers would be if asked, and Emily had already been scarred enough for one school year (thanks, Amy).
So Emily goes with a safer option: she asks Chloe.
“I’m sure Stacie’s had real relationships before,” Chloe says, sliding a veggie tray across the kitchen island to Emily. It’s a Saturday afternoon. Most of the Bellas are out buying clothes, food for the next week, or doing who-knows-what with who-knows-who. The only people home at the moment are Emily, Chloe, and Beca.
Chloe flits about the kitchen; throwing out old food, wiping down countertops, putting stray dishes in the sink. Beca sits on one of the barstools at the island, laptop in front of her opened up to her mixing program. She’s got her big headphones on, though one of the cups is pushed back to expose one of her ears to the conversation.
Emily sits next to Beca, trying to be casual about her curiosity towards Stacie’s love life. “Anybody you know?” She asks Chloe, reaching for a carrot to munch on. “Has she been with anyone since she joined the Bellas?”
Chloe wipes her hands with a dish towel and leans her hip against the edge of the sink, contemplating Emily’s questions. Beca’s eyes dart up to watch Chloe think for a second before focusing back on her computer. “Not that I can recall,” Chloe decides after a moment. “But that’s not to say she’s never been in a real relationship before.”
“Or a secret one,” Beca suddenly interjects, earning herself squinted look from Chloe. Beca holds eye contact with Chloe, seemingly challenging her.
“For the last time, Beca, Stacie was not in a secret relationship with Aubrey,” Chloe says, sounding slightly exasperated. Emily’s head whips around to stare at Chloe with wide eyes. She was not expecting that. “You have no actual evidence to back that claim up.”
Beca narrows her eyes. “Then why did she go easier on Stacie for cardio than the rest of us?”
“Beca, you can’t use that as proof, because Aubrey was easier on everyone compared to you.”
“Aubrey always blushed when Stacie would talk to her.”
“Aubrey is easily flustered when it comes to sex talk because of how she was raised and Stacie always talks about sex.”
“You just don’t want to admit that Aubrey would keep a secret from you.”
“No, it’s just that I know that she wouldn’t.”
Emily’s head switches back and forth between the two captains like she’s watching a tennis match. They debate the issue for a while before dropping it all together, changing conversation topics easily and seeming to forget that Emily is still sitting there.
Emily bites into another carrot. Her questions about Stacie may not be completely answered, but she doesn’t mind because she’s observing something much more complex.
* * *
By far the most confusing relationship on Barden University’s campus was Chloe Beale and Beca Mitchell’s. Because Emily didn’t even know if it was a relationship between Beca and Chloe or Beca and Jesse. Or were Jesse and Benji a thing? They were really close, and seemed to know way too many details about each other’s lives…
Gosh, Emily hoped Jesse and Benji weren’t together. That would make Benji asking Emily out a dozen times really awkward. Plus, she was actually starting to kind of like that sweet magician.
But this wasn’t about Jesse and Benji. This was about Beca and Chloe… and Jesse, maybe. But definitely not Benji.
Moving on.
Emily has thought that Beca and Chloe were together ever since she first saw them interact with each other. It was at the Treble’s party at the beginning of the year, about halfway through the night. Emily had been talking with Jessica and Flo while avoiding accepting any drinks anyone tried to give her because her mom warned her not to take drinks from strangers unless she wanted to wake up in her underwear on the side of some road in Oklahoma 10 hours later.
Anyways.
It had been about halfway through the party when Emily saw Beca and Chloe together. She had met both of them separately earlier in the night but had yet to see them interact. Jessica and Flo’s chatter became white noise to Emily as she focused her attention on the two captains on the other side of the Treble’s pool.
When Chloe spotted Beca, she squealed loud enough to be heard over the sound of the party, making Beca flinch violently and say something that Emily thought was close to, “Jesus, woman. You’ll make me deaf one of these days.”
Nevertheless, Beca had smiled at Chloe and accepted the tight hug that the redhead bestowed upon her. The two stayed wrapped up in each other’s arms longer than was strictly necessary, Emily thought, before Beca turned her head to say something in Chloe’s ear. Chloe started giggling at whatever Beca told her, and pulled away from the hug to place a kiss on Beca’s cheek. Beca had just rolled her eyes with affection and let Chloe lead her by the hand to the dance floor, where the two of them proceeded to spend the rest of the night dancing with each other.
Throughout the entire night Beca only really interacted with Chloe. Her and Jesse did talk here and there, but from what Emily heard from them it was mostly banter and sarcastic comments towards one another. Emily truly thought they were just ‘bros’.
Then Beca kissed Jesse goodnight before leaving to go home and Emily’s world shifted in confusion.
Since that night, Emily hasn’t been able to truly tell who Beca was dating. She had compiled mental lists on evidence for both possible pairings.
Beca and Jesse: Emily has seen them kiss a total of four times. They held hands at the weird basement riff-off thing. Jesse always calls Beca “my girl” and will sometimes swat her butt when she walks away from him. Beca goes out with Jesse a lot, at least according to Chloe (“Where’s Beca?” “I don’t know,” Chloe grumbles. “Probably out with Jesse.”).
Beca and Chloe: Always touching in some way; heads on shoulders, feet on laps, hand in hand. Beca likes to play with Chloe’s fingers whenever she’s bored, like during movie nights. Chloe likes to kiss Beca’s forehead and cheeks, especially when Beca’s grumpy. They fall asleep cuddled up on the couch late at night when Emily’s doing homework in the kitchen. Beca steals glances at Chloe all the time. They always know what the other one is going to say before they say it.
All this is just based on Emily’s personal observations, of course. Nothing that she’s noticed is hard, condemning evidence one way or another.
After months of careful observations and deliberating, Emily still has yet to come to a solid conclusion. She decides to enlist in some outside help, but she’ll have to be real sly about it.
“Who’s Beca dating?” The question bursts from Emily’s mouth before she’s had time to figure out a clever way to ask it.
Darn it.
Benji looks up from his noodles, surprised. When he asked Emily if she wanted to go get Chinese earlier that night, surely he had not been expecting to talk about Beca’s dating life.
(It wasn’t a date. Emily still wasn’t really ready to jump into anything; she was only 18, after all. This was just… getting dinner with a friend. And that friend just happened to be paying for both of them. And none of their other friends were with them. It wasn’t a date.)
“What do you mean?” Benji asks, swallowing his food and scrunching up his eyebrows.
Emily pokes at her own food with her fork (she never could figure out how to use chopsticks). “It’s just… Beca seems really close with… specific people…. And she’s not super open about her life with me, because I don’t think she likes me very much, and she probably thinks that I’d tell everyone her secrets- even though I totally wouldn’t- and I just want to know who she’s dating because there’s a couple people that she could be with and it’s killing me that I don’t know an-“
“Whoa, breathe, Emily,” Benji interrupts her, looking slightly apologetic for doing so. Emily smiles at him sheepishly. “First of all, Beca doesn’t hate you. If she hated you, you would know, trust me.” He chuckles, and then continues. “And to answer your question: Beca’s dating Jesse.”
Emily’s eyes widen in excitement. “Really? FINALLY some answers!” Benji looks a bit shocked by her outburst, but doesn’t say anything. Emily sits there basking in her triumph for a second, and then fully registers Benji’s answer. She deflates a little. “Oh, then that means…”
Benji looks at her curiously. “You… okay?” He asks, head dipping a little to try to catch her eyes.
Emily shakes her head a little. “Uh, yeah. Yeah, I’m fine.” She says, not so convincingly, she’s afraid. She smiles at Benji instead. “Thanks.”
Benji’s eyes soften at her smile, and he just shrugs a little before going back to his noodles.
That night, Emily lays awake pondering her new knowledge. Beca was dating Jesse, not Chloe. Emily’s shocked, honestly. Sure, she’d had evidence for whoever Beca was with, but deep down she’d always thought it was Chloe.
Emily huffs and rolls to her other side. If Beca and Chloe weren’t dating, then what were they?
The question weighs heavily on her mind until she sees Beca and Chloe next, a couple days later. Emily watches the two captains at rehearsal very closely. Watches the way Beca will look up from her computer every so often and just look at Chloe with a small smile on her face. Watches the way Chloe’s eyes crinkle at the corners when Beca calls her “Chlo” and how she blushes slightly when Beca compliments her. Understanding starts to dawn in Emily’s mind.
Later that evening when all the Bellas pile into the TV room for a movie night, Emily’s understanding starts to really take shape. As she watches Chloe pull Beca down into the spot next to her, blanket falling over both their laps, and Beca smile shyly at Chloe as she plays with her fingers, Emily knows for sure what they are.
Beca and Chloe are just two dummies who don’t know how in love with each other they are. They don’t know yet, but they will someday. Emily’s sure of it.
Emily smiles and turns her attention away from the two fools in love and towards the movie, popping a piece of popcorn into her mouth. She can’t wait until they figure it out.
See? Smart.
