Hey Kuripa. You planning on doing anything special with your gf for her birthday?
Tumblr media
Normally, I would say "I am taking her out to dinner at the finest restaurant in Hokkaido!" but Kibin ain't exactly a...fine dining kinda gal.
Tumblr media
I'd still be down to go out and eat somewhere.
Tumblr media
Where'd you have in mind.
Tumblr media
Wait! No wait! Let me guess...Freshness Burger?
Tumblr media
HOO! I would KILL for a burger right about now.
Tumblr media
Of course you would. Freshness Burger it is, on me obviously.
Tumblr media
So...What do you wanna do after?
Tumblr media
Hm...Up to you, birthday girl. What do YOU want to do?
Tumblr media
Well, I mean, despite how many people are here, it's not hard to find privacy in The Tower.
Tumblr media
I was thinking something...a little frisky...
Tumblr media
Oooh...Is that so?
*She gently brushes his chin as they draw closer.
Tumblr media
Could do with some more brainstorming though. I'll need some help, big guy~
Tumblr media
I'd be honored, sweet-cheeks.
Tumblr media
Ahem...Guys...I'm KIND of eating here...And you two are being SO gross...
Tumblr media
Mona...am I correct in assuming they are talking about-
Tumblr media
Yes, Mii-Yu, you are.
Tumblr media
Oh.
Tumblr media
Sorry, force of habit.
Tumblr media
Or just lack of spacial-awareness.
Tumblr media
Kuripa, you know I have never been one to kinkshame you, but if you're going to get "frisky" as you called it, can you please NOT do it in my room?
Tumblr media
Wh-Why would I do it in YOUR room?
Tumblr media
Because Kaito and Maki already fucked on my bed and Shuichi and Kaede already fucked in my shower!
Tumblr media
They cleaned up after themselves but...It's not comfy knowing your bed has been ruffled.
Tumblr media

Once In A Lifetime
Tumblr media
Summary: While at a brewery the day before her sister’s wedding, the reader runs into her once in a lifetime fling, Dean, for the third time. It’s been fours years since they’ve seen each other and eight since they met but the timing’s never seemed to work out between them until maybe now...
Pairing: Wedding Date!Dean x reader
Square: Wedding Date!AU
Word Count: 2,100ish
Warnings: language, fluff
A/N: Written for @supernatural-jackles Tell Me A Story Bingo. Enjoy!
______
“Y/N fucking Y/L/N,” you heard as you were mid chew of eating your piece of pizza. You spun around and swallowed, a big grin crossing your face.
“Dean!” you said. You ditched your table with your family and ran over to him, Dean giving you a big hug and swinging you around. “You look great!”
“You got even better looking, sweetheart,” he grinned as he set you down. You bit your bottom lip and he blushed a bit. “You look good, Y/N. Never expected to see you again, especially Kansas City of all places.”
“I’m in town for a family wedding. I thought you lived in LA?” you said.
“Used to. I own this place,” he said. “How long’s it been?”
“Four years. Another four before that,” you said.
“So much for once in a lifetime,” he smirked.
“Still a boy in there, aren’t you, Dean.”
“A bit,” he smiled. “Older too.”
“Same. We were just kids back then.”
“We’re still kids. We just got most of our shit together now,” he said.
“Oh yes. Still single and still working a job I hate. I so got my shit together,” you said.
“I wear makeup for a living so you’re doing better than me,” he said. “Also still single.”
“I thought you dated some actress or something a while back.”
“Didn’t work out. Put my head down, been working a lot lately,” he said. “Am I about to meet your fangirl sister you told me about?”
“Oh God,” you said as you caught Georgia wandering over from your table with Scott. “I am so-”
“Hi!” she said and you groaned. “Do you know my little sister?”
“Y/N and I go way back,” said Dean. Georgia slapped your arm and you whined.
“You’re friends with him and you didn’t tell me!” she said.
“Oh well we haven’t seen each other in years,” said Dean. Georgia looked at you and you shook your head, her own nodding.
“He’s Italy Dean, isn’t he. Dean Winchester is freaking Italy Dean!” she said and Scott covered her mouth, shaking his head.
“Gia, let’s leave your sister to catch up with her friend in peace, hm?” he said.
“This is why I love you Scott,” you said as he dragged her away.
“I like her,” chuckled Dean. “How long you in town for?”
“A few days. Rehearsal dinner is tonight, wedding tomorrow, head home the next day.”
“Not much free time then,” he said.
“Yeah I-” you said before Georgia screamed. You turned around, your sister stomping around and shouting into a phone.
“It’s tomorrow! They wait until the last minute to call and cancel the venue!” she said. Scott seemed miffed which was probably as angry as he ever got and your mom was already over trying to calm them both down.
“You can use the brewery,” said Dean quietly. He shrugged as you stared up at him. “We’ve been toying with reserving for private parties over on the far side of the property. Strand lights, farmhouse style wedding, yada yada.”
“Can it look like this?” you asked as you pulled out your phone. You showed him a picture of the venue and the style Georgia had wanted to go for. “I can call all the vendors. All we need here is tables, clean up, you get the drill.”
“What time is the wedding?” he asked.
“1. Reception starts at 4, was supposed to go to about midnight or so.”
“You’re the maid of honor I presume.”
“Can we make this work? I know she sounds insane but she’s actually really sweet most of the time.”
“I’m gonna need help setting this up. Might be an all nighter.”
“I like coffee,” you said. He nodded and you turned around. “Gia! Calm down! I got a solution for ya.”
“Hi,” said Dean as you pulled into the employee parking lot at around ten that night. “How’d the dinner go?”
“Fine. Gia’s stressed out so Scott and I got her drunk. I told her I had it handled,” you said. “I have dunkin and my sneakers and put me to work.”
“The guys are nearly done with the lights. I need you to help me with tables and stuff, where you want everything,” said Dean.
“Alright,” you said. “Do you have a notebook I can borrow?”
“Pad of paper work?” he asked as you followed him into the back of the brewery. You hummed and he handed it over along with a pen. You cut through a side door and found yourself outside, staring at a whole bunch of lights in trees and along a privacy fence.
“Oh she’s gonna love this,” you said as you walked out there. You started to jot down where trees were and drew some tables on the paper, rearranging them a few times before you held it up to Dean. “Can you put the tables like this?”
“Definitely can do. I’ll handle the forklift, you tell me where you want the picnic tables,” he said.
Forty minutes later the tables were out back and you’d laid out some rubber mats to act as a dance floor with one of Dean’s employees.
“So DJ is there…” you said to yourself as Dean whistled for you to come over to where he and a few guys were laying out the impromptu bar top. “What’s up?”
“We were just wondering how fancy is your sister? Like is it that fairytale farmhouse thing or she like it more rustic?”
“She’s the former. My future brother in law is the later. He’s the one from here,” you said. “I was just thinking we’d throw a table cloth over the top of whatever we use for a bar.”
“We still got that piece we didn’t use in the second room?” said a man.
“The too dark of stain one? Yeah, it’s in storage. I bet that’d work great,” said a different guy. They took off and you took a deep breath as you looked around.
“It’s getting there,” said Dean. “If you want to head back to your hotel I think we can handle the rest.”
“It’s not that late,” you said. “I can do the tables while you guys figure out the bar situation if that’s cool.”
“Alright. Let me know if you want any help, sweetheart,” he said. You crossed your arms and he mimicked you, tilting his head down.
“Thank you for all of this. Georgia will love it.”
“I’m not doing it for Georgia,” he said with a soft smile. You bit your lip and turned your head, feeling Dean step closer. “If I asked you to stay a few more days, would you?”
“Dean-”
“Would you?”
“Yes.”
“Then stay. Let’s try this for real.”
“I thought you weren’t a commitment kind of guy. That’s what you said.”
“You said there were no strings attached and yet here we are eight years later and I am as smitten as the first time I saw you.” You looked up at him, Dean reminding you of just how easy it was to fall in love with him.
And how hard it was to fall out of it after the two you went your separate ways. Twice.
“Dean it’s never worked before.”
“We never tried. Italy was the two of us having fun and falling way too hard and fast and it scared the shit out of us both. And your car...that couldn’t have been coincidence. We spent the night in that motel room being goofy and reconnecting and then you got so hard when we said goodbye.”
“It’s kinda hard to get over you.”
“Don’t get over me this time,” he said. “I never did with you.”
“I can’t be with a celebrity and do that stuff.”
“Oh yes, I live a very glamorous life,” he said as he looked around. “Should I get out the forklift again?”
“Dean you know what I mean. You were coming up eight years ago. Four you had fans. Now you got even more. I live in a one bedroom apartment and work on sales reports from my kitchen table.”
“If you work from home then staying down here a few more days shouldn’t be a problem,” he said.
“Dean you’re gonna break my fucking heart again and I don’t want to put it back together. Can we just leave it at friends?”
“Okay.” He unfolded his arms and cupped your face with both hands, pulling you into a deep kiss. You grabbed onto his shirt and slid your hand up to his face, Dean slow to break it off. “I don’t want to wait another four years.”
“I’ll stay a few days and if I’m not convinced there’s something…” you said as Dean chuckled. “Oh shut up you hopeless romantic.”
You brought your lips to his, moving slowly, Dean’s hands wrapping around to your hip, the nape of your neck, kissing you as gently as he did the first time he had.
“Uh, boss,” said a voice. You stepped away from each other and he grunted. “We got some barrels we could use to rest the top on.”
“Yeah,” said Dean. “Sounds good. Right?”
“Very good,” you said with a nod. “Dean, you uh, mind helping me with the tables?”
“Not at all, sweetheart.”
The Next Evening
“Hey,” you said as you found Dean in a suit, no tie, top collar undone and helping serve some beer from the taproom.
“Hey. You want a glass?” he asked.
“Sure,” you said. He poured two and excused himself, heading back with you over towards the reception. “I really can’t thank you enough. My sister loves it even more than the original place.”
“It’s no problem. I’m glad I could help out,” he said. You stopped just outside the reception, Dean smiling as he sipped from his glass.
“Would you dance with me?”
“Sure,” he said. He set his glass down and took yours, placing it with his own before he grabbed your hips and started to sway slowly.
“I meant at the wedding,” you laughed.
“But we’re already dancing,” he smiled. He spun you around and hummed quietly. “You look gorgeous tonight.”
“Thank you. You clean up well, Winchester.”
“This old thing?” he chuckled. “It’s my lucky suit.”
“You wore it that night. I thought you were gonna blow me off.”
“Went out and bought it after that afternoon. You wore that pretty white summer dress with the ruffles.”
“Couldn’t exactly wear a white dress tonight,” you said.
“I’m sure you’ll wear one someday,” he said. “You got plans after the party?”
“Might see this guy if he’s available. Not sure yet.”
“Oh he is. He knows a late night diner not too far with big greasy burgers if she’s interested. Plus he’s got a cool car.”
“Let’s go,” you said as you brushed your lips over his.
“Is the wedding over?”
“It’s dying down. I don’t want to wait any longer.”
“Let’s go.” He held out his arm and you stuck yours through it, Dean escorting you out to his car. You felt cooler out in the open air and he shrugged off his suit jacket, slipping it over your shoulders. You stuck your arms through and he opened the door for you, smiling to himself. “Ladies first.”
“Dean?” you said before you sat down. You pecked a kiss to his lips and he inhaled sharply. “Maybe I can stay longer than a few days?”
“You could just stay forever,” he said.
“Maybe I will,” you said. He cupped your cheek and grinned, kissing you slowly. “Don’t go away again.”
“Never, sweetheart. Let’s see if we can get a start on forever finally.”

Hello. I am very interested with WinterIron. Enemies to Lovers, abo with omega Tony, accidental bonding, mutual pining, a lot and a loooootttttt of kissing and touching (with "I do it because of bond" excuses).
Please feel free to cross anything you feel uncomfortable with.
Hi there! I wasn't able to get everything in there, but hopefully there's enough? I loved this prompt so much, it was a fun verse to write in 💙
CW for omegas having few rights in this verse and for creepy Aldrich Killian
As always, everything I write can also be found on ao3
~
mate bond: [meyt bond] noun
1. A mental and physical connection that ties two people together following a mating bite
2. A pair bond between spouses
~
[An excerpt from The Other Half of My Soul: An Exploration into Unconventional Bonding Methods by Anderson-Lopez et al, 1972]
“While rare, it is important to note the existence of mate bonds in individuals who have not exchanged bites. These instances have notably occurred during times of high stress for one or both individuals, and are sparked by an inciting incident of some kind, usually a traumatic event. While these types of mate bonds, dubbed soulmate bonds by the media, frequently occur between individuals who are highly compatible, it is not necessary. Curiously, however, it does seem necessary that the individuals are scent matched for a soulmate bond, even though compatible second genders are not a requirement.”
~
Bucky maintained that it was an accident.
Tony had been meant for Steve, after all. That was the arrangement Howard Stark had decided on with Fury. Bucky had only come along as moral support for the first meeting between Steve and Tony. He wasn’t even supposed to meet Tony first, but the crowded ballroom had been too much for him, so he’d ducked out into the hallway, only to come across two alphas menacing an omega. He supposed that some of Steve’s fiery nature must have rubbed off on him, as he normally would have never taken on two alphas by himself, not when he was down an arm. But he’d taken one look at that omega, pretty brown eyes wide with distress, and leapt into action. It hadn’t been until both alphas had been sent off running with their tails between their legs that he’d realized the omega he’d rescued was Tony Stark, Steve’s arranged mate.
Unfortunately (fortunately? No, definitely unfortunately), the arranged match would never come to fruition as Bucky and Tony had looked at each other and immediately bonded without a shared word or bite between them.
Howard was furious, Fury less so—Bucky was still a SHIELD agent, even if he wasn’t the great Captain America, so the planned union between SHIELD and SI would still happen—but both Bucky and Tony insisted that it hadn’t been done on purpose. And, as neither had a mating bite but could still feel the other at the back of their mind, it was hard to disprove the existence of what had once been called a soulmate bond, though was now called the rather unglamorous name of Mate Bond Subtype C, which Bucky thought sounded like an illness.
The media thought it was the most romantic thing they’d ever heard. Steve, who was slowly courting another alpha from SHIELD, thought it was a relief. Bucky, who didn’t want an omega while he was still recovering from the surgery on his arm, thought it was a nightmare at first.
He didn’t know what Tony thought.
They might have shared a bond between them, but Tony had quickly figured out how to shield his feelings. It had taken Bucky a little bit more practice but he too had worked out how to keep his thoughts and feelings private, which was good, because he doubted Tony would like to know what he was thinking.
They’d been bonded for three months and, while Bucky had moved into Tony’s penthouse apartment, they didn’t share a room, let alone a bed. He still took long missions that took him away for weeks at a time. Tony spent more time at SI’s research labs than he did at home. Bucky hadn’t shared Tony’s heat, nor had Tony shared Bucky’s rut, though neither of them had invited anyone else into their beds. And other than their planned public outings where they had to touch to put on the façade of a happily bonded couple, they didn’t hold hands or kiss or lean into each other, giggling.
The problem was—Bucky wanted all of that. He wanted to sleep curled around Tony. He wanted the two of them to be home long enough to share more than one dinner together at a time. He desperately wanted to share cycles, but even more badly than that, he wanted to touch Tony as often as the omega could stand it. Because the problem was also this—sometime in the course of three months, he’d fallen in love.
~
Tony slid his hand into Bucky’s as they stood in the elevator. “It’s just a quick walk around the ballroom, say hi to a couple investors, and then we can leave,” he said reassuringly, giving Bucky a quick smile. “I know how much you hate these shindigs.”
This was true, Bucky did hate them, but he knew that Tony hated them just as much, though he hid it much better than Bucky did. “Don’t worry,” he replied, squeezing Tony’s hand quickly. “I’ll stick to you like glue.”
“Well, maybe not like glue. Like Velcro, maybe. Howard’s got a couple investors that I know he wants me to meet and that I know you’ll hate so you’re more than welcome to go off and find people more to your liking then. I heard Steve’s coming.”
Bucky had to fight to hide a frown. He knew Tony didn’t mean any harm by the comment, but he hated how Tony thought he wouldn’t want to be by his side even when meeting people he didn’t like. So what if he didn’t like them? He’d still prefer to be giving Tony silent support instead of wandering off and leaving him alone for that long.
Before he can respond, the elevator came to a smooth stop, the doors opening on a soft ding to reveal the glittering ballroom Maria Stark had chosen to host the Annual Stark Foundation’s Shareholders’ Ball, meant to honor those who had given so generously to charity over the last year. The room was decorated in delicate ice-like structures, calling to mind the snow blanketing the city outside, though it wasn’t nearly as cold inside. Golden chandeliers reflected off the dark windows, giving the impression of a never-ending stretch of light. It was all so very glitzy and glamorous. Bucky hated it. It was an obscene display of wealth, meant solely to remind everyone that the Starks were richer than anyone else in the room.
“One hour, Bucky Bear,” Tony murmured like he could hear Bucky’s thoughts. “And then we can go get burgers.”
He dropped Bucky’s hand in favor of sliding his own into the crook of Bucky’s elbow, gently steering him towards the first group of investors. Like every other rich person he’d met since bonding with Tony, they were simultaneously smug of their own “generosity” (mere pennies compared to their bank accounts) and jealous, both of Tony’s wealth and Bucky’s luck in landing a Stark (not his words). The smugness was blatant, the jealousy only slightly hidden in the way their eyes lingered as Bucky took the opportunity to brush his lips across Tony’s cheek, quietly telling him he was going to go get them drinks.
“I’ll be back before you even have time to miss me,” he promised, understanding the minute tightness at the corners of Tony’s eyes.
Tony smiled and nodded, attention already turning back to the investors—or, more likely, to his latest project, however much it might have looked like he was paying attention to Hugh Worthington IV. Bucky slipped through the crowd to the bar. Fortunately, it wasn’t crowded yet and he was able to order a whiskey for himself and a scotch for Tony, who always refused to drink the fruity drinks he actually preferred at these parties, almost immediately. As he waited, he turned back to the crowd, idly scanning it. Steve wasn’t there yet, if it was indeed true that Fury had managed to stuff him into a suit and send him off to schmooze. His eyes sought out Tony, who was laughing as he excused himself from the group Bucky had left him with, moving on to another small throng of people.
He smiled despite himself. Tony was lovely like this, despite his discomfort. Bucky got to see him laugh so rarely at home that he cherished every moment he got to see it while they were out in public.
“Sir, your drinks,” the bartender prompted. He thanked them absently and left a tip on the bar before making his way back across the ballroom to Tony’s side.
Tony wasn’t laughing now. In fact, if his pursed lips were anything to go off of, he was pretty furious, and Bucky wondered what had upset him between him leaving the bar and him returning to Tony’s side.
“Doll,” he said, letting Tony know he was there. Tony turned and took his drink, thanking him with a quick kiss that Bucky desperately wanted to turn into a longer, sweeter one.
“Honey, Senator Stern here was just telling me about an omega’s rights bill he filibustered so it wouldn’t pass,” Tony said, irritation bleeding into his tone.
“Now isn’t that interesting,” Bucky drawled, irritated himself. The bill in question was a law that he knew Tony had backed, as it would have put a stop to the arranged bondings the wealthy were so fond of. They’d both known it would be a longshot to pass, but they’d remained hopeful. “That’s the one that Stevie supported isn’t it?”
“It is,” Tony agreed. “My alpha here—” He patted Bucky’s chest. “—is close friends with Captain Rogers. They grew up together, you know. Steve spends nearly every Saturday evening with us. I’m sure he’ll be delighted to hear about this bill failing to pass. Isn’t he supposed to be putting in an appearance at the Senate hearing next week? It would be such a shame if he couldn’t make it.”
Tony’s statement was only partially true. Bucky mostly saw Steve at SHIELD, as Steve, despite being always welcome at their apartment, didn’t want to be reminded of how close he’d come to an arranged bonding of his own. But Steve, who had been an omega before receiving the serum, had always been an outspoken supporter of omega’s rights, and now that he was an alpha, and Captain America to boot, he used every bit of that privilege to push as much pro-omega legislature through Congress as he could. He was a thorn in conservative senators’ sides, like Stern, and it was a minor miracle that they’d gotten him to appear in front of Congress to talk positively about a Republican bill supporting an expansion of benefits for veterans, when he normally disagreed with anything Republican just on principle. Steve’s support would go a long way toward getting that bill passed.
Tony’s veiled threat was effective. Stern, one of the authors of the bill, blanched, making Bucky smile. He loved watching Tony do his thing. There was really nothing better than Tony putting bullies like Stern back in their place.
“I’ll see what I can do,” Stern stammered out before hurrying away.
As soon as he was gone, Tony drooped, leaning back against Bucky. It was nice, being able to lend his support to his omega, but Tony was standing up straight again after only a moment, the façade falling back over him.
“I really hate that guy,” Tony said softly. He looked up at Bucky. “Sorry about using your friendship with Steve like that. I was just so angry. Saw red for a second there.”
“Hey, it’s okay,” Bucky said. Impulsively, he reached out to clasp Tony’s shoulder, running his thumb soothingly over the soft skin just above his shirt collar. “You guys got a bad lot in life. You do what you gotta do to make it right.”
Tony hummed. “I really wanted that bill to pass. It wasn’t right, what Howard and Fury wanted me to do. I don’t want anyone else to have to go through that.”
“Sorry,” Bucky offered up. It was a lame apology, but he didn’t know what else he could say to make it better. He knew very well that if he and Tony hadn’t bonded that night, Steve would be Tony’s alpha.
To his surprise, Tony smiled and nudged his shoulder, teasing, “I don’t know, you’re not so bad.”
Bucky sputtered, nearly choking on his whiskey.
“Oh, look, Steve’s just arrived,” Tony said airily, like he hadn’t noticed the effect his words were having on Bucky. “Let’s go say hi.”
Talking to Steve at these events was always awkward. Tony and Steve were both aware that neither of them wanted anything to do with each other as mates, which made having to see each other a study in unspoken tension. He didn’t think it was that either of them had a problem with the other, and he suspected that they could even manage to be friends eventually, but it was that knowledge that they’d nearly been forced to mate that made things so tense between them. Still, he appreciated that Tony was willing to put up with it so that Bucky could see his best friend. It was the sort of small kindness that Tony unthinkingly did that had made Bucky fall in love with him so easily.
Tonight was no different. Tony and Steve exchanged no more than a few awkward words before Tony excused himself to go meet with Emma Frost. He didn’t bother kissing Bucky this time, as Steve was one of the few people they didn’t have to pretend with and it didn’t seem like anyone was watching them at the moment. It would have been different if they’d met up a few months ago. There’d been more than a few people who’d somehow got it into their heads that Steve and Tony’s proposed bond was a love match instead of arranged, and they’d all watched eagerly to see how Steve, Tony, and Bucky interacted in those days following Bucky and Tony’s bonding, clearly wondering if Steve was going to pick a fight. They’d been sorely disappointed, of course; Steve and Bucky didn’t fight over anything, let alone an omega that Steve hadn’t wanted.
“So Fury roped you into the dog and pony show, huh,” Bucky asked, eyeing the stiff collar of Steve’s shirt. He’d be willing to bet that it was brand new. Steve was much more at home in a pair of khakis and a flannel shirt than he was in a tuxedo.
“Senator Brandt actually,” Steve said, wrinkling his nose in distaste. “He thinks it’s good for me to make appearances and drum up support for SHIELD.”
“Sucks.” There was a niggling worry growing at the back of his mind, unrelated to Steve’s complaints about the brass, but Bucky didn’t know what it was. He glanced around the room, but was unable to spot anything amiss. He tried to put it out of his mind by asking, “How’s working with the Commandos?” He couldn’t entirely keep the bitterness out of his voice. Bucky had been moved out of the Commandos unit a few weeks before meeting Tony, and it wasn’t that he didn’t like being on Strike Team Delta, but he was still irritated that he hadn’t had a choice in the matter.
“Not the same without you,” Steve said, grimacing at him like he knew what was going through Bucky’s mind.
They continued talking about SHIELD as they slowly circulated the room and all the while, that worry was growing stronger, slowly morphing into fear, but it wasn’t until he happened to catch a glimpse of Tony standing in the corner and looking tense and unhappy that he realized they weren’t his feelings. They were Tony’s. Tony was worried and scared and had brought down his shields so that Bucky could feel his emotions and Bucky was standing on the other side of the room like an idiot.
“Excuse me,” he said brusquely, cutting Steve off. “Tony’s in trouble.”
He headed straight for Tony, pushing through the crowd without sparing a thought to anyone he might be offending as he shoved them aside. For once, it was Steve who was trailing after him, offering apologies to everyone who looked offended.
There was a look of naked relief in Tony’s eyes as Bucky marched up behind the alpha Tony was talking to. It was a look he’d never seen on Tony’s face before, at least not directed at him, and he wasn’t sure if he liked that his omega was happy to have him there or disliked that Tony had to be relieved at all.
“Something wrong, doll?” he asked, hand clamping down on the alpha’s shoulder.
“Bucky,” Tony breathed. He sagged back against the wall. “This is Aldrich Killian. He’d like to propose—” Tony’s mouth twisted unhappily. “He’d like to propose an omega trade. I told him I wasn’t interested, but he insisted on talking to you.”
Anger flared in Bucky’s chest, hot and furious. Omega trades weren’t common anymore, used mostly in backroom deals to secure a transaction. You treat my omega right and I’ll treat your omega right, and maybe we can have a deal. He knew the rich, traditional alphas Tony had grown up with still occasionally used them, but he hated them. He’d always hated them. The very concept treated omegas like property, like hostages, and the thought of seeing Tony—his Tony—under someone else had his vision shading red.
“Is that so?” he hissed.
Killian, the idiot, didn’t seem to notice Bucky’s growing anger. “Maya’s a great—” he began to say.
Bucky cut him off with a hand around his throat, slamming him into the wall.
“Bucky—” Steve started, a warning in his voice.
“Tell them it’s SHIELD business,” he snapped. “Isn’t that the usual excuse?”
What Steve did to placate the crowd growing around them, he didn’t know; he was too intent on Killian to care. “Let me get this straight,” he growled. “You asked Tony for a trade and when he told you no, because I know him, he wouldn’t ever want that and he wouldn’t be quiet about it, you cornered him and insisted you’d only listen to a no from me.” It wasn’t a question. Tony’s thoughts and emotions were flooding him with what Killian had tried to do to him. He growled again at the image of Killian’s hand on Tony’s arm, removed after only a moment. This—this—alpha had tried to put his hands on Tony, had ignored his clear no, and was still babbling on about whatever business deal he wanted out of Bucky—or, more likely, Tony, though as an omega, Tony wouldn’t be able to make that decision.
“It’s a yes or no question, Killian,” he finally snapped, losing his temper. “Did you or did you not ignore Tony’s answer—"
“He’s an omega,” Killian tried.
“He’s a person. He’s a person who was clearly uncomfortable with you and you should never have ignored that. The only reason you’re still standing and not laid out on the floor is because he cares about making a scene, but guess what, I don’t.” His hand tightened on Killian’s throat, making the man wheeze. “Do—”
“Bucky,” Tony said quietly, cutting through his anger.
Without removing his hand from Killian, he looked at Tony. Tony still looked a little shaken, but there was something else in his eyes, something that Bucky didn’t know how to describe.
“Let him go,” Tony continued. “You made your point.”
“He—”
“Yeah, he did,” Tony said, knowing what he was going to say. Bucky wondered if his own shields were down, letting Tony read his thoughts and feelings. “And you were here to stop it, so it’s okay. Let him go, we can go get burgers.”
He didn’t want to. He wanted to make sure Killian never laid hands on someone unwilling ever again, but then Steve was there, carefully pulling Bucky away as he muttered to him about seeing what Fury could do about Killian. And that wasn’t exactly what Bucky wanted, but it was better than nothing, and taking care of Tony was his priority anyway. So since Tony wanted burgers, he would go get burgers.
He spun on his heels, intent on heading to the elevators, only to freezes as soon as he saw Tony. They were supposed to be faking it, which meant that he should do something—wrap an arm around Tony’s waist or kiss his forehead or—or something. But Tony had just had to deal with an unwelcome touch. He shouldn’t have to deal with another one so soon afterwards.
Tony surprised him though by stepping forward and sliding his hand into Bucky’s, interlacing their fingers. “Come on, alpha. Let’s go home,” he said, leading Bucky through the crowd watching them. Bucky ignored them in favor of drinking in the sight of Tony whole and healthy, if not happy.
They were quiet in the elevator ride back down to the parking garage, quiet as they climbed into the back of the car, quiet as Happy pulled out onto the road. Then Tony slid across the backseat to tuck up against Bucky’s side. He rested his head on Bucky’s shoulder, and, after a moment, Bucky rested his cheek against Tony’s curls.
“I’m sorry,” he apologized. “I didn’t mean to scare you.”
“You didn’t,” Tony said. Bucky could feel the truth in his words through their bond, and he realized that Tony hadn’t put his mental shields back up. “I wouldn’t have asked for your help if I hadn’t been expecting something like that.”
“Shouldn’t have taken it so far though. I know you’re not—we’re not—” He grimaced as he fumbled over the words. He’d been able to admit for three months that he and Tony weren’t in a relationship, why was it so hard now?
Tony hesitated before carefully saying, “We could be.”
“We—what?”
“Bucky Bear,” Tony said warmly, sitting up so he could look him in the eyes. “You have to know—people don’t just do what you did tonight or the night we met, for that matter. Not for me. I—I don’t know, the way we bonded, it threw me off. I wasn’t expecting it and I reacted badly. But—then the way you reacted to Killian got me thinking—maybe we could try?”
“Try?” Bucky whispered.
“Try us?” Tony asked, leaning back in slowly, giving Bucky enough time to move away if he wanted to.
He didn’t want to. “Yeah,” he breathed. “We could try. I—I’d like that.”
Tony smiled at him, bright and lovely, and closed the distance between them.

hey!!
could you do a veeeery smutty fic where lou is out on a vacation that debbie for some reason cant go, when they both have time they facetime and end up having phone sex.
I love your work btw!! :)
Tumblr media
“I can’t believe I’m stuck here,” Debbie sighed. “This is so unfair.”
“I can’t believe I have to go to this shit alone,” Lou huffed. “Did you ever think you’d see the day?”
“That Rusty settled down for real?” Debbie snorted. “No. But you can thank Danny’s final vanishing act for roping you into this.”
“Can’t argue that I make a killer best man,” Lou chuckled, winking at Debbie on the screen.
“And no one looks more handsome than you do in a tux,” Debbie smirked, licking her lips.
“Still,” the blonde sighed, resting her hand under her chin as she gazed at the brunette. “I am sorry you won’t be here. Rusty would’ve wanted you here. Might have even had you be his maid of honor,” she laughed.
“You know I can’t fly in my final trimester,” Debbie grimaced as her hand brushed over her belly, her face softening into a gentle smile. “Rusty could have waited. We could’ve given him the world’s cutest ring bearer.”
“Or flower girl,” Lou pointed out. “I stand by my bet.”
“You always know I’m right,” Debbie laughed. “Never bet against an Ocean.”
“You’re a Miller now, honey,” Lou grinned. “And I don’t think Rusty gets much of a say over his bride. I know Danny would’ve wanted you here though.”
“He would have wanted to be there,” Debbie exhaled, her eyes going glassy for a moment.
“He would want to be the bride, you mean,” Lou chuckled, her eyes crinkling as she laughed, the brunette joining in.
“You’re not wrong there,” Debbie agreed. “But enough about Rusty. What’s on the agenda for tonight?”
“No plans here,” Lou spoke, leaning back against the headboard of her bed, giving Debbie a solid view of the tacky hotel art behind her. “Grabbed a burger from the bar downstairs for dinner. Nothing to do tonight. Festivities all start tomorrow.”
“Nothing to do tonight, huh?” Debbie smirked, shifting her phone closer to her chest as she let her other hand wander down over her sleep shorts, delicately running her fingers over the fabric in gentle circles.
“Why?” Lou smirked in return, slinking down in the bed as her image on the screen titled for a moment before straightening out. “Something on your mind?”
“Yeah,” Debbie nodded, letting out a small gasp as she let her fingers slip inside her, shocked at how wet she already was from teasing herself. “You.”
“Miss my fingers inside you?” Lou whispered, her own expression twisting as Debbie let out a soft moan, relishing the knowledge that Lou was on the other end of the line touching herself too.
“Yes,” the brunette hissed. “Wish you were here, stretching me wide. Fucking me so deep.”
“I’d use my fingers,” Lou nodded. “Pumping into you until you were right on the edge.”
“Yeah?” Debbie panted, pumping harder as Lou spoke, imagining her own fingers as Lou’s.
“And just as you were about to spill over the edge. Just as you were about to ask me—beg me, even. I’d pull them away. Suck them into my mouth like this,” Lou whispered, sucking her fingers into her mouth for Debbie’s view as she moaned. “Make you beg me to get you over the edge. And then—“
“What?” Debbie panted.
“Then I’d Fuck you with my strap.”
“Fuck, please,” Debbie groaned. “God, I miss your dick inside me.”
“Use it,” Lou spoke suddenly. “It’s right there in my night table.”
Debbie’s eyes widened at the command, but she rolled to the side and opened the drawer, removing the dildo before coming back into the frame.
“Tease yourself,” Lou whispered. “Just with the tip. Making circles and lines that feel good, but they’re just not quite enough.”
“Fuck,” Debbie groaned as she teased herself with the dildo, feeling herself dripping down her thighs and onto the sheets. “Lou, baby.”
“Yeah, honey?”
“I need you,” Debbie moaned. “Need you inside me. Need to feel you.”
“Go ahead, Debs,” Lou whispered. “Fuck yourself with my dick. Nice and deep.”
“Oh, Fuck, Lou,” the brunette cried out as she bottomed out around the dildo.
“God, you’re beautiful, Deb,” Lou whispered, her own eyes fluttering closed for a moment before they locked eyes. “I want you to come at the same time as me, honey. Can you do that?”
“Yes…god, yes.”
“I’m right there, Deb.”
“Me, too,” Debbie nodded, starting to pump into herself faster.
“On three, love. Ready? 1…”
“2…”
“Fuck.”

Trucks, Tenders, and Tying the Knot
Tumblr media
Claire plays wingwomen for Uncle Cas while watching the trucks. Prompt from this tweet. read on ao3
Castiel is already planning the next six days in bed from a god awful migraine as the loud whir of what might be a front loader clashes with the sound of a jack hammer.
But Claire loves trucks.
And Castiel has the hardest time saying no to his six-year old niece so obviously— despite it being 90 degrees in the shade and the obnoxious amount of noise— they’re sitting outside watching a construction site.
Cas wishes he could say it wasn’t his best (only) option for his Saturday night. But, when Meg begged him for a night off, he didn’t even hesitate. He owes his adopted sister more than he’d care to admit and Claire really is one of his favorite humans.
So, again, they’re watching the trucks.
Pointing curiously at all the different types of trucks, Claire asks Cas to name them off, but Cas truly couldn’t guess the different names for these things if his life depended on it. At first he tried Googling the answers, but Claire’s patience waned so he started just making them up instead.
It’ll only be a problem for him once his adoptive-sister is fielding phone calls from kindergarten when Claire calls an Excavator a “Whoozitkabob.
It’ll be very hard for Cas not to laugh.
After a while of watching the free (loud) show, Cas realizes it really is 90 degrees and they should probably be keeping hydrated.
This is why Castiel isn’t a parent.
They walk out of the nearby Starbucks a few minutes later, Cas with an iced coffee and Claire with her Vanilla Bean Frappuccino which Cas had to convince her was just a milkshake with a fancy name . He glances down at his niece who is now enthusiastically guzzling the beverage down as though she wasn’t almost in tears about it minutes prior.
Kids, man.
As they reapproach the construction site and their front row seats, Claire stops walking and Cas almost trips trying to stop with the same abruptness.
“Phewwww, I don’t know what he’s fixing but mines broken.” Cas chokes on his coffee before following her gaze to the man in question.
Damn.
“Claire— where did— nevermind—“ Cas knows where Claire heard that, his sister never being subtle with her sexual innuendos despite the impressionable nature of her kid. The most impressive part is Claire is… not wrong.
Flustered by the comment and whether he should tell her objectifying men is not a good look but also by his extreme want to objectify the same man that made Claire stop in her tracks, Castiel just stands there.
And then he stares.
Because damn.
He thinks Leonardo Da Vinci may have been a time traveler because when he described the perfect man he must have been talking about this man. Strong arms, broad chest, bow legs, sandy hair, a smile to power the Chrysler Building, freckles for day, and the greenest eyes Castiel has ever seen even from this far away. He’s dressed a little nicer than most of the workers so Castiel reasons that he must be the contractor or project lead but holy shit can he wear a flannel and jeans.
Tight jeans.
Maybe they can watch the trucks for a bit longer.
Before Castiel can realize what’s happening, Claire is pulling him in the direction of said man. As much as he knows he shouldn’t let a six-year-old wander toward an active construction site he also knows he would never have the guts to approach the man otherwise. He does a quick sweep to make sure there aren’t any Thingamahoozies around and that there’s a fence and decides they’re probably fine walking closer.
As long as his heart doesn’t beat straight out of his chest.
“Hey, Mister. Whatcha fixing?” Claire is yelling as she runs toward the guy who at first looks a little taken aback by the precocious child hurtling towards him but then he notices Cas and breaks into a wide smile that practically knocks Castiel onto the ground.
He reminds himself that the contractor is just happy this kid is supervised and that he is entirely imagining the way the man’s jaw slacked at the sight of Castiel.
Now that he’s drawn to them, Castiel knows he’ll be picturing those lips every time he closes his eyes for the foreseeable future.
The man is laughing and shaking Claire’s hand through the chain-link fence and Castiel realizes he’s staring again. He approaches the two of them, and apparently they’re fast friends, because Claire introduces him, “Oh, there you are. This is Dean!”
Dean .
Cas smiles what he hopes is a normal smile because he feels like he’s lost all control of himself being in this man– Dean’s presence. Somehow his brain tells him to reach out his hand and before he knows it, their fingers are intertwined and he’s speaking, “Hello, Dean. I’m Castiel.”
Then he stares some more but maybe Dean doesn’t mind because he’s staring right back and it’s giving Castiel all the time in the world to study every fleck of gold etched into the summer green of this man’s eyes. In no time at all he moves onto the constellation of freckles that are patterning his cheeks which, if Castiel isn’t mistaken, are starting to red in a blush that may be the most adorable thing he’s ever seen– Claire aside.
Oh yeah, Claire.
Castiel reluctantly lets go of the man’s hand when Claire snaps them out of their trance, “We need you to fix whatever we’ve got broken.”
Oh, fantastic, now he’s mortified.
But Dean doesn’t bat an eye, in fact he throws his head back in laughter and it’s the sweetest sound to ever grace Castiel’s ears and he swears if he could he would spend a lifetime trying to hear that laugh everyday.
Dean glances at Castiel’s left hand– not subtle at all – and then looks towards Claire fondly, “Is that what your dad said?” Castiel doesn’t have time to focus on the fact Dean thinks Claire is his because if he thought his mind was reeling from Dean’s check of his marital status then it’s absolutely worthless when the man looks back towards him and winks.
Carve up his tombstone because Castiel is a goner.
Claire, apparently completely unaware of the absolute stupor she’s put her uncle in, continues chatting, “Oh, he’s not my dad, that’s my uncle, Cas.”
“Cas.” Dean looks like he’s mulling the nickname over like an award winning wine and then he smiles. “Well, it’s an absolute pleasure to meet you and your uncle Cas.”
Claire beams before gasping loudly, “OH MY GOD, UNCLE CAS! IT’S A ZINGAMAHOOEY!”
Send that tombstone via express mail because Castiel just died of embarrassment.
Dean’s face screws into something too cute to be legal and he shoots a glance at Castiel, clearly looking for an explanation. Somehow Castiel finds words, “She kept asking what they were called and I’m clueless.”
Cas could swear Dean’s eyes twinkle before speaking again, “Well maybe I could teach you… uh… over dinner?”
“Oh yes please! I love chicken tenders!” Claire, apparently paying attention again, chimes in.
Cas is about to object but then Dean laughs again and says, “Of course! I know the best spot for chicken tenders.”
With Claire satisfied and looking again at the construction site, Dean looks back toward Cas with nervousness etched across his face, “Is— uh— I mean— if you want to..”
He can’t help but enthusiastically put the man out of his misery, “I’d love to.”
And they do.
A week later they’re munching on burgers and chicken tenders listening to Dean talk about all the different kinds of trucks and Claire try and tell him he’s wrong because Uncle Cas said.
And if Cas thought the night couldn’t have possibly gotten better, Dean drops off Claire first and walks him to the door and kisses him goodbye with the promise of another dinner— just them two.
Dean keeps his promise and a million promises... including the biggest promise of their lives with the tiniest Maid of Honor by their side.

Of kisses and Roman traditions
[SUMMARY] Where Seungkwan enjoys kissing you and blames it on the Romans.
Tumblr media
Idk what this is. Fluff? Flirty!Seungkwan definitely. Oh and noona!reader😁
3,087 words
HAPPY 6 YEARS TO MY BOYS💖💎
masterlist
You and Seungkwan have already kissed on three occasions. You didn't want to put too much thought into it, and you never mentioned it anyway. But sometimes it's hard to stop thinking about what those kisses mean.
The first kiss was at Seungkwan's house. All your friends were already asleep, tired of playing all his board games, and drunk innumerable bottles of liquor. You had finished cleaning up when Seungkwan came towards you. "Yah, why did you clean? This is my apartment.” You laughed at his half-asleep state, you could see just how tired he was trying to beat Soonyoung with one drunk. He did his best, but Soonyoung kept giving him +2s and +4s of tequila or vodka and mixing alcohol in Seungkwan's system ended badly. He threw up twice overnight.
"Look at you, hangover's gonna bite your ass in the morning. And you know I can't sleep when this place is trashed." You can hear him laughing lazily, trying to stay awake. "Come on, let's get you to bed." Seungkwan grins, "Starving. Creamy cheese bagels. Feed me?" You laughed at his antiques. You met him a year ago, and you know drunk Seungkwan needs to eat before he goes to bed. "This is a way of waking up hangover-free, noona. You should try it." But you know that Seungkwan will still have a headache the following day, with an Americano as a telling sign.
"You're too cute for your own good, do you know that?" You joked to him, shaking your head. You were warming up the bagel when he took your hand. "Happy anniversary, noona."
"What?"
"Do you think I wouldn't remember? It's the anniversary of the first time we met.”
"What a sappy, sappy man you are." You laugh while finishing his sandwich. You turned around to face him and said "ah" so he could take a bite out of the bagel. When he did, it was as if he had tasted food for the first time. When he had already swallowed his first bite, he suddenly threw his arms into your waist, swallowing you in a cuddle. That surprised you because he's not usually that sweet, and now he's very touchy.
"What are you doing?" You asked him when he set his bagel down on the counter and tugged the ends of your shirt pulling you closer to him. This is the only time you have noticed how he is a few inches taller than you, and that he has long eyelashes a bit like those of a baby. You were that close to notice that. He slowly bent over your face, staring directly at your lips, waiting for you to stop him. When you didn't, he closed the gap between the two of you and kissed you softly.
When he retired, he laid his head upon the counter and slept his intoxication away. You figured he’s too wasted to have done so. When you asked about the kiss the next day, he brushed it off, saying,  “Sorry, got wasted trying to beat that tiger hyung.”
“Just don’t do it again okay? Friends don’t do that.”
“Yepp,” popping the last letter, “I’ll take you to your favorite burger place to make it up to you.” He drags you to his car while holding your hand. When he was driving, he held your hand still. “Hey, it's not okay to kiss, but it's okay to hold hands?” There was complete silence.
“Friends can hold hands, sure. When did friends start kissing on the lips?
“Friends with benefits do.”
“Ya are you asking me to? Cause you know I’m not into that kind of shit!”
Seungkwan laughed at your outburst. “Joking noona, sheesh. You’re getting old.”
“Shut it, I’m barely a year older than you.”
Throughout the ride, he didn't let go of your hand. However, you didn't seem to mind the extra warmth.
Tumblr media
The second kiss took place around a campfire.
Soonyoung told the three of you that he wanted to go for a drive, and you were shocked when he suddenly parked by a beach. You never asked how Soonyoung got all of your clothes and other belongings, but he seemed to need the view of a peaceful ocean at night, so you all decided. You were already there, and the semester had just ended.
While you and Seungkwan were eating dinner you bought near the store, Seokmin began jamming to a guitar and singing his heart out. Soonyoung was on the lookout for the beach's caretaker to inquire about some wood for a campfire.
“I swear, I know Soonyoung oppa is the most spontaneous of us all, but I never expected him to be this bad. Is it really because of the finals?”
“He may look carefree, but hyung goes through a lot,” Seokmin chuckled. You understand; everybody has their own way of dealing with their baggage, and Soonyoung's are to be daring and laugh his problems away.
“Minnie, can you play the song you submitted for your music class as a group project?” Campfire?” You believe it is appropriate for the atmosphere of the evening. While Seokmin was singing, you glanced over at Soonyoung to see how he was doing. His smile is beaming, and his eyes are glassy as he takes in the stunning scenery in front of him. You were relieved to see that his plan worked.
You looked at Seungkwan, realizing that this was his first time hearing the track. “Kwannie, pay attention to the next line. It's comforting.” You sang with Seokmin when the part came up. It reminds you of how Seungkwan made getting out of bed easier every day. Your anxiety held you awake at night or made you fearful of what might happen the next day. But Seungkwan, he unintentionally shone on you at a difficult period. Slowly but steadily, you began to anticipate waking up knowing that he would face the day with you.
Soonyoung accompanied Seokmin to the market to buy some food after he finished jamming due to his hunger. It was time for you to jam. Of course, you'd choose Taylor Swift's The Way I Loved You, in honor of her Fearless cover. You've always admired Taylor Swift's music, especially the older songs because you identify with the words she wrote. You were grateful for how her music got you through your childish heartbreaks.
You were so engrossed in Seungkwan's angelic voice that you didn't know he was already squatting in front of you. Both of you were grinning at each other when the last chord was struck, and you kissed him as though it were nothing out of the ordinary. The kiss felt right; it felt like it was what completed the song you were singing; it felt like the happy ending the song promised. To keep your balance, you clutched his arm. When you jerked away from him when you awoke from your daydream, he immediately drew you back in and kissed you again, squeezing your hand three times.
Tumblr media
The four of you had agreed to spend Christmas Day at Seokmin's. Your mother didn't let you hear the end of it when you told them you couldn't come home because your family has always been conventional. Your mother guilt-tripping you to come home, saying, "We're family, we're supposed to spend time together." “Ah, well, families are supposed to support one another, not nag each other to death when one fails to meet one's expectations.” After that, you hang up, assuming that if you don't agree, your mother will say something else that you don't want or need to hear.
Seungkwan was supposed to pick you up, so while you were waiting for him, you double-checked everything you'd packed to make sure you hadn't forgotten anything. Seungkwan's introduction of Soonyoung and Seokmin is one of the things for which you are grateful. You've outgrown your crappy friends from high school, so the trio is a breath of fresh air for you.
You place your bags in the trunk as soon as you see his car, like a little kid heading to Disney World. “Thanks for picking me up, Kwannie,” she said, beaming. You excitedly slid down to the passenger seat. He immediately hugged you once you were sitting, saying, "Ah noona, you're in a good mood?" You can see his smile doesn't reach his eyes when you've broken free from the embrace. He's giving you a fake one.
“This is my first trip away from my home. I already know it'll be a lot of fun.”
“Really? At Seokmin Hyung's house, you'll feel right at home. His mother prepares the most delicious Christmas dinner. My mother's cooking pales in comparison.” Seungkwan once gave you a dish made by her mother, and one bite was enough to make you feel like you'd died and gone peacefully to heaven. The fact that Seokmin's mother cooks better piqued your curiosity. “Ah really? Then I'd really have to give it a taste.” He smiled again, the false smile, and you're starting to get bothered by it.
“What are you doing, Kwannie?” You're giving me this strange grin.”
“What do you mean strange?”
“Fake smile. It's the first time you've feigned a smile at me. What’s up?”
“You can see right through me, can't you?”
“Yes, I do. Would you like to talk about it?”
“Nope. But I'd like to take your hand.”
Seungkwan is holding your hand and exhaling contentedly. He kept it until you arrived at Seokmin's house.
Seokmin's house is warm and inviting. They live in a house on a corner with a vibrant garden surrounding it. The living room has an L-shaped couch that can comfortably seat all four of you, with additional seating available. Seokmin and his sister have a wall full of family photos and accomplishments. You can tell Seokmin's parents are a laid-back, loving family, as shown by his kindness and good humor. You don't know if it was the long ride, but you fell asleep as soon as you sat on their couch after the house tour.
When you first awoke, you chose to visit their garden, which you recall has a swing set. Seungkwan is seated by himself.
You teased, "Where are your twins?"
“They went grocery shopping with Mrs. Lee.”
“What kept you from going?”
“Too exhausted from driving.”
“Then you should've just slept with me.”
Seungkwan swung his head in your direction right away. “I-uh, what?”
Then it dawned on you what you'd said. This is so humiliating. “Sleep!” you exclaimed, “Sleeping, with eyes closed and resting-“
“I never expected you to finally ask me-”
“WHAT DO YOU MEAN WHEN YOU SAY "FINALLY" YOU LITTLE SHIT?”
He laughed out loud at your reaction while you chased him around the backyard. He quit running around after you told him that you wouldn't smack him in the head.
“I hate you.”
That made Seungkwan stop laughing.
“Do you regret meeting me?”
You were surprised at his sudden change of tone, no longer joking. “Is this what it’s all about?”
“Well. Yeah.”
“I'm not sure what got you to think like that. You said, “But you know our first meeting was a flop.” When people meet for the first time, they usually ask for each other's names, go through some more tedious formalities, and then seal the deal with a handshake. You had an early class with him, and you didn't mind sharing a seat with him almost every time because you thought he was one of the quiet ones. The year was difficult for you because things didn't go your way, you had a lot of misfortunes, and you had a lot of work piling up that was affecting your mental health.
As you sat down in your chair one fateful morning, you put your cup of coffee on your side of the table. This is where Seungkwan got his drink mixed up with yours because you both have the same coffee taste.
“- flop is an exaggeration for that noona-”
“-you drank my coffee in our 8 a.m. class thinking it was yours, I'll never forgive you.” Reliving that moment made you roll your eyes. “But you know what? You wouldn't have replaced it if you hadn't, and I wouldn't have had the best year of my life.” It may seem to be an exaggeration, but it is true. You were grateful for Seungkwan's carefree and playful personality, which helped you get through your lowest point. He had no idea what you were going through, but you were relieved that someone was taking care of you.
He can be seen chewing his mouth, attempting to conceal his smile. “Ah dumb main character in a drama,” air quotes the phrase, ‘I wish I hadn't met you.' “I instantly thought of you.”
“Huh, that's strange.”
“What is?”
“That. As I previously said, this has been the best year I've had in, what, three years? And it's all thanks to you. I might be harsh with you all of the time, cursing at you whenever I get the chance, but that's just how I am. I'm glad I got you as one of my most reliable friends, my rock, and my go-to person. Even Seokmin and Soonyoung oppa were introduced to me by you. Seungkwan, I'd rather live in a world with you in it. Don’t think otherwise.”
Seungkwan stared at you and felt a combination of emotions. He kissed you when he understood what he felt.  At first, you thought it’ll be quick like the last time, a peck. But he deepened the kiss, and when his tongue touched yours, you hear him groan. He tugged you closer, afraid you’ll get away. He reassuringly held your hands, squeezing them three times just like the second time. I can get used to this. You thought. You focused on his soft lips, how you’ve always felt content while kissing him.
He pulled away, his chest heaving for breath. “Holy shit,” Seungkwan said. You nodded in agreement, apparently unable to concentrate because of your heart beating so loudly.
“I-, uh, I--”
“I thought we’ve talked this through?-”
He sighed deeply before adding, “I-I got cold. Sorry, noona.”
“You dumb shit, if you were cold, I would have made you hot chocolate. I’m nice sometimes you know.”
“I don't mind,” he smirked, “you're hotter anyway.”
“What the heck is wrong with you? I swear to god, you've been flirting with me since that drunk uno shit.”
“It's a Roman thing to kiss under the mistletoe,” he said, pointing to the mistletoe he was carrying.
You both laughed it off, thinking about how ridiculous it sounded. “Roman tradition my ass.”
Tumblr media
You and Seungkwan are both in the hospital on New Year's Eve.
“Ah, what a dumb plan you had there,” you exclaimed, staring at him in disbelief.
“Well, I've always wanted to go out of my comfort zone...”
You give him a light smack on the head. “Shut up. Now I'm trapped in a hospital over New Year's because of your dumb plan.”
It's never a good idea to combine Seungkwan with hiking. Sure, he's fit, but when was the last time he went hiking?
“Then have Seokmin hyung or Soonyoung hyung accompany me.”
“They're still at Seokmin's.” You and Seungkwan both arrived at your dorms earlier than anticipated. After all, you didn't want to overstay your welcome; it was your first time. You were worried that Seokmin's mother would think you were too at ease in their home.
“Well, if you want to go home, you can.”
“Who will look after you if I go home?”
For a moment, Seungkwan didn't dare add a sarcastic comment on that question. So, instead, “Come on y/n, don't be so mad...”
“Where are your manners, I'm your noona?”
“three kisses in and I still can't call you by your name?”
You blushed when you remembered all of the times Boo SeungKwan kissed you and how sweet his soft lips were.
“Noona is blushing, wah.”
“I hope your ankle doesn’t heal you little shit.”
Raising his eyebrows at you. "You don't mean that. You love me."
"Of course I do. I love all three of you."
He reached for your hand. "I bet you love me more." There it was again, Seungkwan surprising you with his sudden seriousness. He was staring straight into your eyes, waiting for your response. Luckily, a nurse came in to check his vitals.
 A few minutes after the nurse came out, both of you were ignoring each other due to that sudden tension. To ease the situation, both of you just watched television until you fell asleep.
"Y/n wake up." Nudging you by your shoulders. "We're nearing the countdown. Cmon," and urged you to stand by the window, waiting for the fireworks.
Seungkwan then leaned in to put an earphone in, with a song already playing in the background. You realized it was a song written by Soonyoung's classmate, Woozi, for a songwriting class. You were bopping your head to the music when the ten-second countdown started.
You and Seungkwan alternately sang along.

Seungkwan turned to face you just in time for the next line.
"You are pretty."
너 예쁘다
As soon as the clock struck twelve and the fireworks went off, Seungkwan kissed you. What astonished you was how you knew he was about to kiss you and how you returned the kiss with fervor as he deepened it. You can't help but compare this man to fireworks; how dark it was before him, and how awestruck you were when he came into your life.
Seungkwan was the first to back away, touching his forehead to yours and giggling like a joyful little kid. “Did you know that it’s a Roman tradition to kiss on the first minute of the new year?”
“Blaming the Romans again, I see?” playfully raising your eyebrows at him.
He laughed at that, giving you no excuse. "I love you, Y/n."
You grinned as you silently thank the Romans for their weird traditions.

The Winter Soldier (Chapter Three)
Tumblr media
Summary: Steve drops by the VA and listens in on one of Sam’s meetings and later that evening, (Y/N) reflects on her unusual day with the super-soldier.
Pairing: Steve Rogers X Reader
Word Count: 1.5k
Warnings/Disclaimers: Brief discussion of PTSD
A/N: Hope you all enjoy!
Chapter Three (Previous Chapter)
After placing sugar packets and stirring sticks next to the coffee maker, (Y/N) took a seat beside the refreshment table and watched as Sam took his place at the front of the crowded room and began the meeting. One by one, each person would share their struggles with PTSD and how it had affected their lives as civilians; with each person’s story, (Y/N)’s heart clenched in sympathy. These vets have put their lives on the line to protect us, they don’t deserve to suffer, she thought with an inward sigh. She couldn’t count the number of times she’d woken Sam up from a nightmare or had seen him suddenly grow silent and have to distract him from his memories of war. But it was wonderful that people like Sam, people who face the same exact struggles, run programs to help each other out.
Seeing movement out of the corner of her eye, (Y/N) turned to see Steve Rogers leaning against the doorframe of the room, his arms crossed over his chest as he listened to the meeting. Smiling and tugging her sweater tighter around her, (Y/N) turned her attention back to the woman speaking. “The thing is I think it’s getting worse. A cop pulled me over last week, he thought I was drunk. I swerved to miss a plastic bag. I thought it was an IED.”
Sam nodded. “Some stuff you leave there, other stuff you bring back. It’s our job to figure out how to carry it. Is it gonna be in a big suitcase or in a little man-purse? It’s up to you.” Everyone clapped and began standing, so (Y/N) jumped to her feet to man the table. She greeted each person with a smile as they grabbed cookies and filled their cups with coffee, delighted to see so many new faces among the usual crowd. After about twenty minutes of mingling and making small talk, the crowd started to leave so she decided to begin packing up the refreshments as Sam bid them goodbye out in the hallway.
“Don’t take those away those cookies just yet, darlin’, I wanna bring one home to my gran’daughter.”
(Y/N) looked up to see Gary, an older man with an incredibly bushy grey beard and a Vietnam War veteran’s baseball cap, and she smiled brightly before offering him the half-full container. “Take the whole thing if you’d like, Gary, and be sure to say hello to Katie for me!”
That made Gary grin toothily as he took the container. “You know, darlin’, you’re sweeter than this whole damn box of cookies. I’ll be seein’ you next week!” (Y/N) gave him a small wave and resumed cleaning as he limped away.
“You’re pretty popular around here.”
She turned away from the coffee pot and smiled when she saw Steve standing before her, his blue eyes glimmering and his hands shoved in his pockets. “If I am, it’s only ‘cause I give away free cookies; the vets that visit all have a massive sweet-tooth, you know.”
“Are you a vet, too?”
“Nah, I just work here.” She tossed several used paper coffee cups into the trash and chuckled. “A year ago, when I finally graduated with my master’s degree, I started writing my novel and since I was writing about soldiers and government agents I needed to interview some about their personal experiences. So, I decided to come down to the VA. I met with Sam, who had just started working here, and asked if I could interview some people for my writing. He agreed, and I spent the whole day just talking to the vets. All sorts of vets, too; men, women, old, young, you name it. And at the end of the day, after hearing about their struggles with PTSD and how hard their lives became once they returned to civilian life, I went back to Sam and asked if he needed any part-time employees. He said yes, and we’ve been best friends ever since.” Steve smiled, and the impressed look he was giving her caused her to blush so she hurriedly changed the subject. “So, did everything work out earlier? It’s just that it seemed a little serious, so I hope that everything’s okay.”
Steve’s smile fell a little but he nodded. “Yeah, everything’s fine…I was just visiting a friend who hasn’t been doing too well lately.”
(Y/N) impulsively placed a comforting hand on his arm. “I’m sorry, that sounds difficult. I hope they get better soon.” The ghost of a sympathetic smile pulled at the corner of her mouth and Steve’s eyes softened after a moment; realizing that her hand was still resting on his arm, she hastily withdrew it and began folding the tablecloth to keep her hands busy. “Um, Sam and I were planning on going out to dinner after we finish packing up, you’re welcome to join us if you want.”
She glanced up at him and saw a glint of something in his eyes, but it disappeared before she could get a closer look. “Thanks for the offer but I’ll have to pass; I’ve already got some plans later…”
“That’s okay, maybe next time!” (Y/N) smiled, but inside she couldn’t help but feel a pang of disappointment.
Just then, Sam walked into the room with a stack of pamphlets in his hands. “Pretty good turnout today, huh? Five new faces and Captain America!”
Steve chuckled. “Well, I’m glad that I stopped by.” He glanced at the clock on the wall before continuing, “I should probably get going, but it was good to see you two again.”
(Y/N) shook his hand. “I’m not gonna lie, it was a little weird seeing you in your own exhibit earlier but it was great hanging out with you!”
“You too, and good luck with For Queen and Country, I’ll keep my eye out for it in the bookshops.” His bright smile caused her heartbeat to once-again quicken as their hands dropped.
“It was good seeing you too, Cap, you made me look really awesome in front of Maria, so thanks for that.” Sam grinned and shook his outstretched hand.
“Glad I could help, Sam; see you two around!” Steve gave them a small wave before turning and walking out of the room.
Tearing her eyes away from the doorway, (Y/N) resumed her cleaning and glanced at Sam. “What do you feel like tonight, Thai or burgers?”
Sam grinned and began unplugging the coffee maker. “Burgers. So, did you have a nice day chilling with your new boyfriend, Booksmart?”
“Sam…”
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Later that evening, (Y/N) sat down at her desk and put her music on shuffle before flicking through her notebook to the pages of notes she’d taken that day at the Smithsonian. She bit back a smile when she recognized the difference between the carefully printed notes she’d taken by herself versus the illegible scribbles taken from the elderly security guard’s long-winded explanations. He was kind of a fast talker, wasn’t he, she thought to herself; as a way of honoring the enthusiastic old man, she ultimately decided to name one of her minor characters after him.
“Stan.” She sounded out the name and gave a satisfied nod. “Yeah, that’s got a nice ring to it…”
(Y/N), now finally having all the information she needed to best describe Soviet Cold War missiles, wrote for nearly three hours straight, only taking breaks to skip songs or to glance down at her notes. She would’ve probably continued writing well into the next morning except that her eyesight was beginning to blur around the edges, an unfortunate symptom of exhaustion.
Well, you have had a pretty busy day today, (Y/N) silently reasoned as she saved her evening’s progress and booted down her laptop. Since Sam was already fast asleep in the room across the hall, she went about her bedtime routine as quietly as she could, washing her face and brushing her teeth before tiptoeing back into her room. She slipped on her mismatched pajama set and was about to crawl into bed when the record player on her bedside table caught her eye. Making her way over to what Sam affectionately called ‘The DJ Bookcase,’ she scanned the shelf devoted solely to her record collection until the right one stood out to her, and then she carefully placed the record on the turntable and lowered the needle. After a moment, the soft tones of Glenn Miller’s ‘Stardust’ filled her room and with a smile, she finally got into bed and turned to watch the record spinning on the turntable.
Thoughts of the super-soldier who’d inspired her choice in bedtime music began to fill her mind, making her smile softly to herself. (Y/N) had enjoyed seeing Steve again, even if it had been in a highly unconventional place like the Smithsonian, and she quietly marveled at how effortless it had been to talk to the larger-than-life man. He really was different from how the history books portrayed him: not only was he kind and polite, but he was also intelligent, sarcastic and extremely understanding. Also a little lost, I expect, (Y/N) thought, remembering his guarded expressions and withdrawn replies whenever she’d ask him a personal question; it couldn’t be easy adjusting to a brand-new reality, especially without a fixed support system to rely on.
“Hopefully he ends up getting the help he needs.” (Y/N) murmured to herself, her sleepy eyes continuing to watch the rotating record as more thoughts of Steve Rogers filled her mind.
Clueless Part 1
Peter tapped his freshly manicured french nails on the marbled countertop. Italian music was softly playing on the stereo near the fridge, the TV in the living room across from where he stood was playing the muted news. Another attack in Manhattan taken care of by the red robot that everyone is calling IronMan.
Peter huffed and looked over the dieted food for his dad he had just packed for his lunch, and waited for the coffee to be done pouring. “Daddy! Hurry up you’re gonna be late for your meeting!” Peter’s dad, Tony Stark, was a world-renowned businessman/engineer.
And Peter was his ‘infamous child prodigy’, is what Dr.Strange, his dad’s close friend, likes to call him. Peter was the popular kid at school, the one who knew how to dress amazingly enough to be on the cover of ELLE with his famous everyday outfits, the kid that had all A’s and was on the honor roll each year and won many science conventions first place awards; and yet he was still known to be the most liked and admired at school.
Peter bit his glossed lips while examining his manicure, thinking about the dinner tonight that he had to go to with his dad, something about ‘linking up with old friends. Tony came into the room through the arch and was fixing his tie while looking at his watch.
“Pete don’t tell me you made that crap diet food for me today, I’m gonna have a long day of meetings and a burger already sounds amazing for lunch.” Peter scrunched up his freckled nose in distaste at the grease patty his father called heaven.
Peter poured his dad's coffee in a stainless steel coffee cup. “Daddy you know Dr. Strange said that it’s the best way to help if you want to live past fifty.” Tony rolled his eyes and took the packed food and coffee cup anyways. “So now you're going to listen to whatever that man tells you?” Peter pecked his dad’s cheek, rubbing away the gloss smudge with his thumb with a fond smile.
“I’m gonna listen to any man with a Bachelor's degree daddy.” His dad smiled fondly and hugged his son. “That’s my boy.” And before Tony left through the archway to the foyer he turned around and looked Peter up and down.
“You and the girls plan something for after school? Because you know we’re going out tonight kid.” Peter looked down over his clothes for the day. A Versace dual print button-up that reached down midthigh with white shorts. And a white Gucci belt to cinch his waist to show his figure and his white leather Prada pumps with his Speedy Bandouliere 25 to tie everything together.
“We’re matching today and it was Nat’s turn to pick the designer, and I know dad all you’ve been talking about is this dinner.” Tony hummed and sipped his coffee, rolling his eyes at his son’s attitude but, never-the-less hugged Peter and both walked out to the front of their round-about cobbled driveway and both went into their respectable vehicles.
----------
Once Peter rolled up to Natasha’s giant house with the same green patch of luscious grass and beautifully cut bushes around the property with giant gates at the entrance, Peter honked twice, and while waiting he checked himself out in his bedazzled hand mirror.
His curls for the day were in wet-styled auburn curls and his eyes were glossed with a wet shine and blush blended perfectly into his tan skin from his dad’s last business trip in Mexico. Peter smiled at the enchanting memory of mimosas being handed to him on the beach with the sound of waves crashing in the background and oiled pure white skin under the blazing sun and the sound of beautiful Latino music playing at the beach’s bar behind him.
Peter remembered the dream-like Hispanic men lounging around him in swimming shorts and glorious brown skin and bright white smiles. His dad finally enjoyed his time without work or stress at the bar, smiling and laughing with beautiful Latina women.
Peter snapped out of his loving memory when Natasha jumped in the front seat of his white topless jeep.
“Hey Pete, hurry so we can get to Shuri’s house, I don’t want to hear her complain about being late to class.” She rolled her eyes lovingly and looked at herself through the front seat mirror and pushed up her curls.
He snorted at Nat's teasing and pulled away from the curb. “You know that outfit will catch Steve’s eye right?” She looked me up and down with a devilish smirk on her red painted lips, Peter always did admire how she pulled off red so damn well.
Peter looked over at her once they hit a red light. “Every outfit I wear catches that man’s eye, Nat.” Then another burst of laughter came out from both of them.
Once Peter pulled up to Shuri’s house, he already knew she was gonna give them hell for the time.
Peter absentmindedly looked at the time on the jeep, only ten minutes ‘till the bell rings, they’ve got plenty of time. Shuri came in the car with a flourish of the door slamming shut and a huff that came from her lips. While Peter was pulling away from the curb he looked in the rearview mirror and smiled at Shuri.
“What’s got you in a fit S?” Shuri flung a strand of her box braid behind her shoulder in annoyance and sulked in the back with her Prada handbag clutched in her lap. “T’Challa was actin’ lame this mornin’, only because I asked him why he was acting out last night with his friends,” And once Shuri started talking about her brother, both Natasha and Peter tuned in, even when they arrived in the school’s parking lot, the deets on T was always juicy.
“Get this guys I overheard T talkin’ about you Pete and how he’s surprised your daddy hasn’t sent you to a catholic school already because he and his friends think you're easy, then somehow that turned into a convo on how he would totally--and I quote--"Tap that ass".” She said this conversationally while all three of them were walking towards the school with their heels clicking and bags in hand.
Peter gawked and Nat let out a snort. “Okay, but doesn’t he know that Pete is a total virgin?” Nat brought up while Peter was minutely speechless for the first time in forever and then he snapped back to life. “What a skeeze.'' Both girls nodded in resolution and then they split for class once they got into the school’s hallway.
———
At lunch Peter walked to his and the girls' table in the middle of the outside cafeteria with a lime popsicle in one dainty hand, sucking the tip of the icy treat while soaking in the glances he got from his peers. Peter sat with a flourish and waved at the girls in greeting.
“Pete whatcha doing tonight I wanna see if you could go shopping with us.” Wanda leaned forward with her chewing gum on one finger while she chewed on her apple slices.
Peter pouted, “Sorry Wand, I got this dinner thing with my dad and his friends tonight.” Wanda gave a humph and hunched her shoulders. “You know I find it weird how Pete’s dad is an actual DILF and his friends are just as fine.” Shuri brought up, which got the girls around the table nodding in agreement. Peter rolled his eyes and flipped Shuri off when she broke out laughing.
Lunch had just begun but usually, Steve would be right next to Peter with his macchiato in hand. “Looking for your boy toy?” Shuri swirled a baby carrot in the dollop of the ranch she only treated herself to once a month.
Peter grimaced and shook his head indifferently, sucking the treat back into his mouth with an eye roll from his friend's laughter. Peter knew that Steve had it for him and was at his beck and call even if he acted like he was just doing it to be nice.
Peter rarely felt guilty for using his crush to his advantage but he also explicitly told Steve that he wasn’t looking to date anyone. Besides his father would go ballistic on him, he distinctly told him he wasn’t allowed to date anyone, and I quote, ‘until you find a guy who has his own business that I can buy and make sure that I have control over him’.
Peter was drawn out of his thoughts when he realized there was a shadow cast over him. Peter turned and titled his head up, there standing was his saving grace in the hands of his best friend. “One almond milk macchiato with no foam and two shots of espresso for my very beautiful best friend, Peter Stark.”
Sam by Steve’s side made a face and looked at Steve hurt, “I thought I was your beautiful best friend.” Steve ignored him though and smiled beamingly at Peter’s plucked arched eyebrow. “You gonna give me it or are you also my handler.” Nat by his side snorted and shook her head. “Not until you look at my outfit Stark.” Peter rolled his eyes with an apathetic air to him.
Peter didn’t like playing Steve’s silly games, but he still wanted his coffee and he wanted it now. So he let his eyes roam up and down Steve’s body. A Classic Damier Pique polo and nice fitted dusty blue slacks. He wore a smirk on those lips every female seemed to love and his blonde hair was slicked back with a pair of black Gucci sunglasses on his head.
Peter furrowed his brows and glared at Natasha who was pointedly not catching his eyes. “Did Nat tell you we were matching with Louis today?”
“Just took a wild guess, cuz I know she knows what I like on you.” Peter rolled his eyes and feigned a vexed look. “You know I told you I can't have you flirting with me Stevie, I'm not allowed to date.” Steve shrugged his shoulders and handed over Peter’s drink.
“You know you can't keep me away from you, doll.” Sam scoffed next to him and shook his head, walking away from the situation and heading towards the benches where their friends stood.
“You better follow your only source of affection before he decides to not hold your hand anymore when your feelings get hurt.” Peter waved his hand in a dismissive way and turned back to the table.
Steve shook his head, even though Peter wasn’t paying any more attention to him. Sometimes Steve wishes he could just smack the sense into Peter that he would do anything to be with him. Maybe instead of a smack, it’d be a kiss.
----------
At Eleven Madison Park, Peter dined with his father, Rhodey, and Dr. Banner. The bright smiles and charisma felt like second nature to Peter, he was taught great mannerisms by his Nonna and Nonno when he used to stay at their condo in Malibu while his dad was out on business trips.
“Listen, all I'm saying Tony, is that Pete has the credentials to be a part of my branch.” Bruce held his hands up in surrender. Peter sipped the glass of champagne idly, pretending that he wasn’t the face of this conversation.
“Oh trust me, I know my genius son has the credentials to be a part of any big business. But I rather him not work for anyone,” Tony cut a piece of steak with vigor and popped it in his mouth.
“Besides he’s too much like me, he wouldn’t listen to you Bruce, he likes challenges.” Bruce laughed and shook his head, looking over at Peter with a smile.
“The kids gotta start somewhere Tones.” Rhodey pointed out with a raised brow, his eyes going over to Peter where he was cutting a sliver from his seasoned lamb. “Jeez, Rhodes you say it like my son can’t start out big.” Tony lifted his wine glass to his lips with a stubborn glint to his eyes, he always did get protective of his son.
“I never said that-” Rhodey was cut off by a phone's ringtone chiming. Tony grunted and pulled out his stark phone with an annoyed air to him. Rhodey looked over to Peter and gave a pleading look, “I never said that Pete.” Peter laughed under his breath and lifted his champagne flute towards Rhodey in a tribute to his faith in the man. “I know Rhodey.”
Rhodey smiled and saluted his glass back, sipping his white wine and looking over at Bruce trying to not grimace at his meal. “Whoever thought to themselves that, “oh yes lamb's tongue sounds like a great meal to serve” should be in prison.” that got Peter smiling wider and knocked the toe of his heel to Bruce’s shin lightly, playfully.
The rest of the dinner was spent with laughs and more teasing, but soon rolled into business talk like it usually trickled into with every event they go to. But before his dad started going on one of his rants on his current projects, Dr. Banner quickly set his wine glass down from lifting to his mouth and hurriedly said: “Maybe we shouldn’t get into details while Peter is still here?”. The words make Peter stop mid-bite and look up from his plate to see the shifty eyes of one Dr. Banner and Tony Stark. Rhodey seemed just as confused and paused in his own autopilot of taking a sip from his tumbler. But before Peter could try and butt in and demand a reason, the waiter came by and asked if they would like any dessert, to which Peter got distracted by his father shoving a menu of the small assortment of desserts the restaurant served. Tony knew his son had a thing for sweets and got lost in his own world easily once he focused on something else. One point to daddy Stark and zero to the poor spawn of the billionaire.
Sneak Peek Sunday (8-23-2020)
Tumblr media
I know for certain I was tagged by @sophie-and-shizuku, and I think I may have been tagged by @bebepac. Honestly, I have not had a lot of time to work on anything because of work obligations but I do have a fic ready to post and a handful of almost-there WIPs; fics that if I just sat down and added one more section, or did a final read-through on, I could post.
For Sneak Peek Sunday, I present to you my They’re Almost Ready list.
Boomerang (Un-Romance AU):
Maxwell.
I wonder what he is doing here. Then I hear his voice carry over my partition.
“Hey, Reebee,” he says, using his nickname for me.
“Max!” I say a little too loudly and a lot too cheerfully.
He steps to my ‘doorway’. “I come bearing treats,” he announces as he holds out a brown paper bag in one hand and my pink drink in the other.
I tell him to come in, and he plops in the guest chair before handing me my drink and cookies. I place them on my desk and roll my chair around so I’m facing him. I eye him appraisingly: Maxwell looks good. He’s still slim with a head full of gelled hair; his face is still handsome in an odd way. Maxwell is the type that is always animated: eyes flashing and sparkling, a permanent half smile lifting one corner of his mouth, hands moving.
A man in motion.
Right now, his leg is jiggling while his fingers tap and dance against his pant-covered thigh.
“What brings you here?” I ask curiously.
“I dropped Pen off this morning and walking her to the elevator, we ran into Lynn going on a coffee run.”
I freeze momentarily. Maxwell dropped Penelope off? “You and Pen?” I ask in what I hope is a casual tone.
He nods happily. “I ran into her at a pet shelter a couple of weekends ago. We talked some, grabbed some lunch, and we’ve been … hanging out ever since.”
“He was looking for a peacock!” Penelope offered helpfully from her cubicle.
I nod slowly. “Hanging out,” I repeat.
Max’s eyes grow wide as he takes in my expression. “It’s not like that.”
We stare at each other. The yet is unspoken.
Ghosts (Damien/Kai/Hayden ):
We were eating dinner in the living room. America’s Most Eligible was on, and for whatever reason, Kai and Hayden absolutely love that show. There were shrieks of laughter and finger pointing at the television set while I watched them absently, barely tasting my dinner.
Hayden noticed my lack of scoffing and reprimand and looked at me quizzically. “Are you okay, love?”
Kai put down her forkful of food to look at me through narrowed eyes. “Does this have to do with that client? What’s the job, Damien?”
She is neither suspicious nor jealous, just protective. Kai doesn’t love deeply or passionately; she loves fiercely.
I sip some cold beer. “I don’t know the job yet. I have to meet with them to find out.”
They both look at me skeptically. I shrug. “I just … I don’t know. I feel disconnected and I don’t know why.”
Except I do. I’m lying to the two most important people in my life, after mom and siblings, because of a man who left me three years ago. Over a phone call. I didn’t hear from him when I was heartbroken. I didn’t hear from him when robot assassins and a crazy man were trying to kill me and my friends.
No, he waits until I’m happy again to call. And I answered.
Love in a Time of Betrayal:
The light in the room was muted as the late afternoon sun filtered in through the closed window blinds. The heavy damask curtains were pulled open, tied back with cords of silk rope. They reminded her of an opera box.
Her hands ran down the front of his shirt, frantically pulling buttons through their holes; the diamond on her finger sparkled in the muted light of the room. The fabric was soft beneath her fingertips. Silk? Often washed cotton? It didn’t matter as she pulled the shirt from his broad shoulders. He let out a low laugh at her eagerness, his hair falling across his forehead in an endearing way.
She couldn’t wait to run her fingers through it.
The man pulled her closer to his bare chest, his short curly hairs matted to his skin. She breathed him in: pinecones, green grass, cognac. A hint of leather. Her lips found the crook of his neck and placed a kiss on his collarbone. He responded by planting a kiss in her hair.
They were star-crossed lovers, their hearts and their fates always at odds. The very Universe telling them constantly that they were not to be together, yet their bodies spoke differently.
Their love spoke differently.
She wondered if what they shared was lust or love, and always decided love. Lust could be sated, but her feelings for him never were.
He knew he loved her, with every fiber of his being. But he saw the signs: every chance they had at happiness was snatched away; sometimes cruelly, sometimes subtly. Either way, the pain was the same:
Deep. Hurtful. So intense not even the sweet release of death would alleviate it.
But here they were again, under the most trying of circumstances, attempting to right their world the only way they knew how.
The Queen’s Friendship:
The woman and Veronica were sitting in a dive bar, eating burgers and drinking beers. It had been five years since high school graduation, and their group of friends had disbanded:
Brenda’s mother had died soon after graduation, and she and her siblings had sold the house and divided the money. Brenda moved to Richmond, VA and had gotten a job with the state government. She was expecting her first child any day.
James had gotten a football scholarship from Auburn University. He played well, but not well enough to be noticed by the NFL. He was working as an accountant in Birmingham.
Michael D. had joined the Army.
Michael B. had moved to DC to attend Howard University and was applying to the police academy.
Shirley was in nursing school, and roommates with Rosalind, who was now a cosmetologist.
Ryan had gotten a degree in Physical Education Teaching and Coaching. He had always liked sports, but not playing them. He was waiting to hear back from the school board about a coaching position.
Veronica had gotten her meeting planning certification and was now looking to get into real estate.
The woman had her degree in Office Administration, along with the rest of the world. She had applied to several places but had yet to hear back.
Veronica dipped her French fry in ketchup as she studied the woman’s face. “I need you to be there! We’ve been friends forever and I want you to be my maid of honor!”
“You and Ryan are getting married?” The woman repeated her friend’s earlier statement, feeling foolish. Why, she wasn’t sure.
Veronica leaned back, tapping her nail against her chin. “I thought you were over Ryan?”
“I am! I am!” the woman hurriedly reassured her lifelong friend. “I just … wow, life is moving fast.”
Veronica nodded as she sat up straight. “It is, but it’s right, ya know?”
The woman nodded, but she didn’t know. She didn’t know how right felt. The two friends finished their meal, and on their way out, the woman saw a sign hanging on the wall: Now hiring waitresses, all shifts.
How I Met Your Wife:
The Duchess stopped fussing long enough to allow Yu to greet her deferentially; Riley smiled at the pretty, slim waitress and asked if there were a more private dining area she and her friends could enjoy their lunch. Yu arched an eyebrow; already the waitress held resentment against the Duchess. Of course she would want to lord her power and position over everyone else.
With a grunt, Yu led them to the private dining area reserved for large and/or private parties. Once the group was seated, Riley grasped Yu’s hand. “Thank you so much for accommodating my request. My appreciation will be reflected in your gratuity.”
Yu looked at the Duchess with a touch of incredulity before saying, “It’s the least I can do given that the King is offering the orchard workers some relief. I have family members who are affected.”
Riley looked at the waitress with concerned eyes before rummaging in her purse. “What are their names?”
Yu gave her the names before leaving the table with menus. She didn’t expect anything to come of it, but at least the new Duchess gave good lip service. She returned with the tea service in time to hear the Duchess on her phone arguing with someone who had to be the King.
“NO, you CANNOT return to the manor, Liam! And NO ONE is coming to the Palace! How in the HELL are you going to suggest WE use the SAME BAKER you and Madeleine were going to use?”
Silence as the Duchess listened to whatever the King was saying.
“I DO NOT CARE THAT THEY ARE THE ROYAL BAKERS! DO I LOOK ROYAL TO YOU?”
Yu hung back, not sure what to do. Riley smiled, and waved her over. “I am going to find a local Valtorian baker for the cake.” Brief silence. “IT ISN’T OUR WEDDING CAKE! I have three people, possibly four, with me RIGHT NOW who would LOVE to be the Duke of Valtoria! Don’t worry about who they are!’
More silence, then the Duchess hung up the phone. She looked at Yu. “The King will be joining us. Please send him here when he arrives.”
Coronation:
I run my hand through my hair while keeping the other on the steering wheel. The car is quiet, too quiet. I turn on the radio and a melancholy song fills the sedan.
And I bruise when you leave the room I never liked the way it felt Keepin' my hands to myself, mmm
Like some magic moment of which I'm not quite sure I wonder if you've ever been in love like this before You'll be scared when I possess you But you'll want me all the more
The music doesn’t help because my brain is filled with questions and images. There’s not enough room for the music and I impatiently turn the radio off. My phone rings; my hand fumbles on the passenger seat and I pull my eyes from the nearly empty road long enough to see it’s Beaumont calling and press the speaker button to answer.
“Yeah?” I growl as I check the speedometer and press a little harder on the gas pedal.
“Drake! We got Little Blossom! She’s going to stay!” he babbles excitedly in my ear.
I am quiet for a moment before I respond. “That’s great. Liam will be happy to hear it.” I don’t bother to ask Maxwell why he convinced Brooks to stay.
Liam made a choice. It wasn’t her.
“I thought you’d be more excited,” Maxwell says with some confusion in his voice.
“Olivia showed up at the Coronation, talked to Liam, and left. Then the pictures of Brooks came out. Wondering if there’s a connection.”
“You think Liv sent the pictures?”
I roll my eyes in annoyance. I try to keep the irritation out of my response. “No, Beaumont. I’m wondering if whoever did this to Brooks is behind Liv’s leaving.”
Desperate Measures:
Blinking back tears, Bertrand glanced at his watch. He raised an eyebrow as he realized it was almost time for his visitors. They were coming to meet with the stoic, confident Duke of Ramsford, not some maudlin, lovesick fool whose bank account was dangerously close to being overdrawn.
He pulled his papers together in neat stack and centered them precisely in the middle of the desk. He opened a drawer, and retrieved his lint brush, rolling it in brisk strokes over his suit jacket and sweater vest. Before leaving the study, he reached in a candy dish; he plucked a breath mint, which he popped in his mouth.
The Duke strode down the hall, ignoring the paintings and photos that lined the walls. He needed to check on lunch; the cook had been with the Beaumont family for decades; she still came in twice a week to do the grocery shopping and prepare dinner for the Duke and Lord. The rest of the staff had been let go; Bertrand could not afford to pay them, and people needed to make a living.
Bertrand trusted the chef implicitly, and normally wouldn’t micromanage, but today was important.
This meeting could put House Beaumont back on the road to riches.
Crown Prince Liam’s social season was starting in two days’ time; Maxwell had accompanied the Prince and some friends to New York City. Bertrand had tasked him with finding a wealthy American socialite who may be willing to sponsor herself in the season. It was a long shot, but Bertrand was desperate. Nothing seemed too farfetched at this point.
House Beaumont could not afford to sponsor anyone; however, every house who entered a suitor received a stipend to cover expenses such as clothing, food, and transportation. The House with the winning suitor received press coverage and a check to be split with the suitor.
Bertrand needed a winning suitor.
But the noblewomen of Cordonia did not need House Beaumont; they had their own houses, and no need to come out of pocket. However, there was one suitor who was entering the season who came from a minor noble house. A suitor whose name was unknown despite her mother having strong ties to Cordonia.
A suitor who had money, and lots of it.
Lady Hana Lee of Shanghai.
-.-.-.-
Fuck divorce!
The words stared at her, silently taunting, and reminding her that she can curse at it all she wants. Divorce is still a thing. Divorce will always be a part of her life. Shutting the journal, Sarah shoved it in her backpack. She didn’t know what else to add to the pages. So, that would have to be enough. The rule was that she had to write. She was never told how much.
And those two words summarized it perfectly.
“Sarah?”
She jumped out of her skin, knocking over her tea as her stepdad stepped into the kitchen. Logan. “Yeah?” She grabbed the paper towels as he reached for a dishrag.
“Sorry.” He grimaced as he handed her the mug. “Put that in the sink, would ya?” Sarah didn’t argue. She washed it out as he finished cleaning up the mess. The running water was a much needed distraction from the awkward silence in the room. Logan had been married to her mom for about a month and the two still didn’t really know how to act around each other.
Actually, that was a lie. Sarah knew very well. Logan just wasn’t getting the message.
“You’re taking the subway today, right?”
“Yeah.” Sarah grabbed her mom’s wallet off the counter, snagging a couple bills for lunch. “See you next week.” The words were short like most of their conversations. Before he had a chance to say anything, Sarah was shouting a bye to her mother, out the door with her backpack in hand.
Logan huffed, tossing the paper towels into the trash as Peggy came downstairs. She was putting in her second earring, looking around. “Did Sarah leave already?”
“What do you expect? It’s his week.”
Peggy noticed the defeated slump in his shoulders. Logan was trying. He really was. And he cared about Sarah. It was that fact that made Peggy fall for him so hard. Wrapping her arms around his waist, she placed a small kiss on the back of his shoulder. “She’s stubborn, love. Gets that from both her parents, I’m afraid.”
Logan smiled softly, gently squeezing the hands interlaced on his abdomen. “I know. She spoke to me today. Six words this time.”
Peggy’s frustrated groan was followed by a pained laugh. “I promise. Just give it time.”
-.-.-
I know I’ve got a tendency To exaggerate what I’m seeing And I know that it’s unfair on me To make a memory Out of a feeling
“Earth to Sarah, please.”
She blinked, finally acknowledging the hand waving in her face. Sarah yanked an earbud out of her ear as Typhanie took the empty seat across from her. “Sorry.”
“Nah, I know when you get in one of those hate-the-world, emo girl moods,” Typhanie teased. She reached across the table and snagged a couple fries before Sarah could swat her hand away.
“Get your own.”
“Nope.” Typhanie smirked as she took a bite. “So much more fun to steal and see you get all frustrated.”
Sarah rolled her eyes, taking a bite of her burger. “You suck.”
“Actually no. That’s why I don’t date boys.”
Sarah coughed, choking on her food as Typhanie grinned from ear to ear. “Not – Not cool,” she wheezed out, grabbing her water and taking a much needed sip.
“My bad, but I had to kill the sourpuss face. It was getting kinda boring to look at.” Sarah scoffed, pushing the plate towards Typhanie and letting her finish it off. “Seriously, what’s going on?” She grabbed the burger, taking a bite. “Normally a joke like that makes you laugh.”
“Just ready to be back at my dad’s.”
Typhanie’s nose scrunched. She recalled the wedding and how uncomfortable Sarah had been when Peggy had asked her to be her maid of honor. Sarah hadn’t exactly warmed up to Logan yet and there she was, playing such an important role. “That where we’re going after school?”
“Yup. I have a meeting with Ms. Y/L/N after school, but then we’re helping Uncle Buck with the shop.”
“My favorite after school activity.”
“Should I be jealous of the crush you have on my aunt?”
Typhanie giggled. Before she could provide some witty retort, the bell rang. Lunch was over. “Guess you’ll never know.” She threw the food away as Sarah grabbed their bags. The looming building was enough to make Sarah wish school would end already.
But she always wished that. Taking Typhanie’s hand in hers, she pouted and asked, “How much longer till we graduate?”
“570. Then we have college…”
Sarah groaned. “I’ll never survive.”
“Probably not.” Typhanie smirked and took that second earbud, handing it to Sarah. She knew the blonde so well. Immediately, the earbud was back in place – music drowning out the irritation that came from squeaking sneakers and gossiping teenagers.
So I keep sayin’ I hate everybody But maybe I – maybe I don’t
-.-.-.-
“Fuck divorce, huh?”
Y/N looked up from the two words on the page. She was smiling at Sarah, reminding her that there was no judgement here. Being the high school counselor, she was used to talking to students about anything they needed. And Sarah was always one of her favorite people to talk to. She was open with her opinions and Y/N found her so high spirited and passionate.
She just needed to focus. She needed someone to guide her.
“So I’m guessing this means there’s been no headway with the stepdad.”
Sarah shrugged. “He’s trying too much. It’s…weird. I already have a dad and I didn’t ask my mom to bring some stranger into my life.”
“I thought last time we talked you agreed that your mom deserved to be happy.”
“She does!” Sarah huffed, biting the corner of her lip as she looked away. She always liked Y/N’s office. It was calm and relaxing. Notes were everywhere – mostly so Y/N didn’t forget anything – and there was a number of plants that Sarah could focus on when she needed to find the right words. The right emotions. “I – I don’t want him in my life. I don’t need a stepdad. I want to be with my dad. He’s great! And he takes care of me!”
“So does your mother.”
“But it’s different.”
Y/N sighed. She understood. Nothing about divorce was ever easy. Especially when you were the kid in the middle. She remembered a year ago, when everything was first happening. Sarah had fully believed that they would stop fighting and fix things. It was classic. So when Logan came in, she retaliated. Hard. And no headway was being made in that aspect of Sarah’s life.
“You spend the next week with your dad, right?”
“Think you could talk to him about what you’re feeling? You’ve always talked about this honest and open relationship you two have. Getting his input might help you gain some perspective.”
Sarah grumbled, a low whine coming from somewhere in her throat. It made Y/N laugh. “Do I have to?”
“You agreed that as long as we continued these sessions, you would do the homework I gave. This is it.”
“Alright, Doc. Communication with the old man. Sounds…fun.”
Y/N closed the journal, holding it out to Sarah. However, before she could grab it, Y/N added, “Maybe also try writing more than two words, hm? I get that there are days when that motivation just isn’t there, but I need you to try.”
Sarah glanced at the book before meeting Y/N’s gaze. “Okay, then can I ask what you expect?”
“Two sentences at least.”
Sarah didn’t say anything, snatching the book out of her hand and shoving it in her backpack. “Alright. Two sentences.”
Sarah got up and moved to the door, pausing when Y/N called her name. She looked over her shoulder, confused as to what else Y/N could possibly have to say. “I consider three words a sentence. So really, if you think about it, that’s no more than six. And if someone is smart enough to sum up their feelings in six words, they’re smart enough to figure out having a stepparent.”
“God, you’re corny.”
Sarah left, closing the door behind her as Y/N rose to her feet. Finding her planner on her desk, she scratched out Sarah’s name before digging her phone out of her purse. Tonight was ladies night. That meant a quick trip home to change clothes then she could meet up with the girls.
No sooner had the thought left Y/N’s mind than her phone started buzzing. She glanced at the screen, grinning when she saw Carol’s face staring back at her. “Sorry, you’ve reached Y/N’s voicemail,” she answered.
“Nice try. You don’t know how to set that up.”
Y/N chuckled. “Look, I just wrapped up on my last student. Let me get out of the suit and I’m happy to join you guys.”
“Well, there’s been a chance of plans. It’s not dinner and a movie.”
Y/N frowned, slipping her bag over her shoulder and locking up. “Okay. What’s the new plan?”
“Drinks at Sanctum Sanctorum and then Wanda and Val wanted to cash in that promise of getting tattoos.”
Y/N winced. She had wanted a tattoo for so long, but the idea of a needle piercing her skin was enough to make her want to pass out then and there. “I’m not getting out of this, am I?”
“Not if we have anything to say about it. Look, they did all the research and the place looks awesome. It’s not creepy or dark or anything like that. It’s even got a cute name.”
Carol was trying so hard to sell it and Y/N had to give her credit. She was succeeding. Big time. “Jeez, you could sell ice to an Eskimo.” Shifting her phone to her other shoulder, she asked, “What’s the name of the place?”
“It’s so cute! Y/N, there’s no way you can think this place is intimidating. I swear!”
“Carol, just tell me!”
“Howlies Ink.”
Wow. That really was cute. Was Carol sure she got the name right?
“Before you ask, yes, that is the name. Double checked after Wanda told me.”
Y/N snorted. “Alright. Sanctum Sanctorum and Howlies Ink. I’m in.”
She could already hear the squealing on the other end of the phone. It sounded like Carol was declaring she was in. There was no backing out now. This was going to be a hell of a night.
Tumblr media
A few weeks in - A few weeks out
You and Clint had been dating for a few weeks and had spent almost every day of the first week together. But that had cooled down considerably this week. Several days had passed since your last date with Clint. He had texted you a few times but had a potential client from the west coast flying up with their daughter and had been busy with meetings off and on. You and Bucky were falling back into your old routines. He gave you a ride home from the shop on Monday and by Thursday the air around the two of you had completely cleared. You were kicking a bolt across the garage floor as you paced and texted Clint on your phone when Bucky came in carrying lunch.
“Hey. Head out of the clouds Missy. I have food.” Bucky said with a grin spreading on his face.
He tossed a brown paper sack your way and you snagged it before it could hit the ground. “Oooh burgers and fries?” You said with a knowing look on your face.
“Yeah. And a milkshake you ungrateful gnome.” Bucky pulled the drink from behind his back. “Also, don’t look at me like that.”
“Like what Bunky?”
“Like you are in on some kind of secret.”
“Like the fact that this food is from Danvers, the restaurant your girl works at.”  You winked at him. “Did you get a special discount?”
“I told you a million times already. It’s not like that. Anna Marie is a friend. The date didn’t turn out the way I expected but she’s great either way. So yes I got a discount but no it's not for what you’re thinking.”
You unwrapped the burger and took a bite. “Mhhohmygod.” You moaned around the food as you chewed. “Mthisisofuckunggud.”
Bucky blew his straw paper into your head. “Don’t talk and chew. It’s disgusting.”
You swallowed and stuck out your tongue .
Five hours later you were holding on to Bucky as you wove through traffic to your apartment. He was going to drop you off, give you both time to change and then pick you up so you could meet with everyone for Nat and Steve’s engagement dinner. You had invited Clint but he was still entertaining his potential clients and promised to text you through the evening.
Bucky held the bike's weight as you slipped your leg over the seat. “Thanks Blocky. See you in an hour?”
“Your nicknames are terrible but yes I’ll be back in 60.” He twisted the throttle and wove down the street to his own apartment.
You ran up the steps and unlocked the door. Your apartment was warm and inviting and you could hear the siren call of your bed. It took all of your strength to ignore it and get into the shower. You set a 15 minute alarm so that you wouldn’t lose track of time within the hot water. Your phone buzzed from it’s spot on the window sill next to the shower. You reached out and checked the notification bar.
Hey babe, I think I might land this deal. Got a few things to nail down but yeah. What are you up to?
Oooh… so I'm babe now? I'm getting ready for dinner.
Too soon? Whoops? Bucky giving you a ride?
Nah BABE youre fine. Yeah Bucks taking me
You wash your body, careful to keep the soap out of your hair and eyes. When you are clean and smelling like your vanilla soap you get out of the shower and start getting ready. You are going to a very fancy restaurant, a place that would require you to dress up but you weren’t about to put on a dress just for it to wrinkle on the back of Bucky’s bike. You opted for a pair of black slacks and a satin navy blue dress shirt that complemented your skin in the best possible way.
You were slipping your heels into your purse as Bucky knocked on your door.
“Just a minute, I’m putting on my boots!” You yell from the couch in the living room.
The door opens and Bucky is standing next to the couch before you get the zipper pulled up on your second boot. He looks… good. You check him out from toes to head. He was in fitted dress pants and a black dress shirt with a dark blue tie. His hair was pulled back into a loose bun at the base of his neck. His Blue eyes sparkled with excitement and his smile was breathtaking.
“You are the perfect woman, you know that?” He asked as he helped you stand and took in your outfit. “Did you bring your heels with you or are you going to stay in these shit kickers all night?” He pressed, kicking you boot softly with the tip of his.
You patted the purse on your shoulder that was bigger than you normally carried due to the cargo inside. “All packed up and safe right here.”
“Awesome. Lets go.”
You walk in and Steve and Nat are practically sitting on each other's lap, You walk up and make a gagging noise that gets their attention. “You guys are so cute, it makes me sick.”
“Thanks.” Nat replied, scrunching her nose and eyes up as she smiled. Steve popped up to give you and Bucky a hug over the table. Nat followed suit.
“I’m glad you made it. Where is Clint? I was excited to give him the intentions speech.” Steve said with a gravelly chuckle.
“He’s with a client. Has been most of the week. Apparently it's a huge opportunity for him. If he lands an instructor gig with Mr. Stark he should be able to open his own gym.”
“Wow, sounds exciting.” Sam’s voice startled you as his hand came down on the back of Bucky’s chair.
A cheer of “Sam” came from all around the table as everyone was excited to see he was able to make it.
“I’m happy for you, man. You got your girl.” He said kissing the top of Natasha’s head but his eyes flitted to Bucky long enough to make you question what he meant by his words. “So… How’s engaged life treating you?” He asked as he shuffled around Steve to the open seat next to Bucky.
“Good man, We’ve been looking at venues and doing all that planning stuff.” Steve replied with a huge grin.
“Which brings me to my first bullet on the wedding checklist.” Nat interjected. She grabs both of your hands and pulls you closer. “Will you be my maid of honor?”
“You let out a little squeal and nodded. “Of course Nat! I’d be honored!”
“I don't want to put either of you on the spot about the best man thing and make the other one feel like I love them less so you guys can arm wrestle for it or something…” Steve trails off. Bucky’s mouth popped open in shock and Sam let out a little huff.
“You’re kidding right?” Bucky asks. “We’ve been friends since forever!”
“Yes but only because I knew you’d freak out enough to ease the heart breaks for Sam. Sorry bud. It’s gotta be Buck.” He said turning to Sam. “I’d still be honored if you would be my other groomsman.”
Sam smiled and hugged Steve. “Duh, man. But that means Buck has to plan your Stag night.” He said, making a face of disgust.
Everyone laughed and the night continued on with smiles and stories from everyone at the table.
By 10 pm you were totally exhausted and ready to hit the hay. Bucky turned to you with a sad smile, “Time to head home, Sugar?” You nod.
“Alright guys, me and little bit here have to get going. Work in the morning.” You give your friends a hug and put cash for you and Bucky’s dinner in the little black book that the server had dropped off.
When you got out to the bike you sat and waited on Bucky to exit the restaurant.
“You think you’re pretty slick, huh?” Bucky asked, sliding on his jacket and throwing his leg over the bike.
“Huh?” You ask, kind of tired and kind of confused.
“I went to pay the check and it was gone.”
“Oh yeah. Well you got lunch and gave me a ride… I picked up dinner. It’s fair” You replied sliding in behind him and wrapping your arms tight around his waist. You could almost feel him roll his eyes before he turned his torso to look at you. Whatever he had planned to say died on his lips when his eyes met yours.
“Fine. Lets just say it's payback for drooling on your favorite shirt during movie night.”
Instead of continuing to argue he just shook his head and turned back to kick the bike to life.
You hopped off of the bike and hugged Bucky tight. “Night Buck. See you in the morning.”
“Night doll.”
You skipped up to your apartment and promptly fell asleep in all of your clothes.
The next morning you work up to a text from Bucky and two from Clint. Bucky’s was the usual safe message he sent any time he dropped you off, he knows you worry about him but also doesn’t expect a reply. You open Clint’s next.
Good morning beautiful.
I have good news call me when you wake up.
His dinner must have gone well but you weren’t sure what the urgency could be about.
You quickly brushed your teeth and washed your face before dialing his number. It only rang twice before he picked up. He was panting and you could hear the sounds of people training in the background.
“Hey babe. How was dinner?” he said, you could hear the smile in his voice.
“Pretty great. Had a lot of fun. Looks like I get to be Nat’s Maid of Honor which is really exciting.”
“That is amazing! Well, Do you have lunch plans today?” He asked, “I guess I could have just texted you that. “
You giggle at him over the line and assure him that you are free for him to pick you up at noon.
When you get to the shop the strong smell of coffee and motor oil hits you and you can't help but think about how much you love your job. Peter pops up from behind his desk. “Morning. There is coffee on the counter and Bucky just ran to grab doughnuts.”
“Thanks Peter. Anything new in today?”
“Not for a few hours. Mrs. Sledge is due in around 1230 for an oil change and tire rotation.”
“Cool.” You make your way through the reception area and into the garage. The radio was already on and playing classic rock from the speakers as you set yourself up to reorganize you and Bucky’s tool boxes.
You rolled your chair over to your box first. It wasn’t too messy and you felt a bit of pride in actually being able to keep it halfway decent looking. You wiped off all of your wrenches and put them in order before turning to Bucky’s box. The tall, silver, rolling cabinet was covered in greasy handprints and stickers and you shuddered. You opened the bottom drawer to find little to be upset over. His screwdrivers were all clean and orderly. All the drawers that followed were the same, which was odd. Bucky was very neat at home but his toolbox was usually always some form of disorganized. When you popped open the top drawer you couldn’t help but smile. Pinned to the corner of the lid was a picture of the three of you at prom. You laughed at the three kids playing dress up.
The bell above the door let out a high pitched ding and you carefully shut his toolbox.
“Hey Peter. One chocolate glazed sprinkle doughnut. Is she in already?”
“Yes she is.” You say as you lean against the door jam.
“Oh hey. So I got us some breakfast,”he said opening the box in front of you, “I got your favorite.”
You grab the doughnut and bite off half of it, “Fanks.” You say around the half chewed bread.
“Gross.” Peter said, leaning away a bit. His crush must be wearing off, you thought idley to yourself.
You start walking back into the shop and Bucky follows, leaving the almost full box on Peter’s desk. “So apparently we don’t have anything planned until after lunch. I was going to clean up the boxes but that’s already done so… what do you want to work on?”
“Let’s do inventory for a bit. I’m sure there is something that needs ordered or replaced.”
And so you did, actually you worked on inventory between singing off key and showing Peter how to order from your supplier. At around 1130 Bucky leaned back in his stool and yelled to the front desk. He wanted to know if Peter wanted anything for lunch. He kindly declined saying something about lunch with his friends.  Bucky turned and asked you the same thing. It was at that point you realized you had forgotten to tell him that you had plans with Clint. You let him in on the plan and he blew a strand of hair from his face and stood up.
“Cool. I’ll start Mrs. Sledge’s car without you then.” He looked a little irritated. “Bet I finish it before you get back too. But first, I'm gonna get lunch. Text me if anything comes in.”
You stared after him for a few minutes, totally confused. You finished with the last of the fluids inventory about twenty minutes later and washed up in the shop's bathroom, Bucky wouldn’t be back until you were gone which would leave Peter alone in the shop for half an hour. You hoped nothing would come up in that time.
You quickly ran the brush you kept stashed in your tool box through your hair and threw on a coat of mascara and eyeliner before Clint showed up.
The bell chimed above the door and you ran to the office area. Clint was standing in the door with a bouquet of bright flowers.
“Hey babe.” He said kissing your cheek.
“Hey. Are these for me? They are really pretty.” You reply as he hands you the flowers.
“Yeah. You might want to get them in some water. The yellow ones wilt really fast.”
“Already on it!” Peter called from the supply closet.
“Thanks Pete!” You yelled over your shoulder.
“So what’s for lunch?” You ask as Clint wraps his arm around your shoulders.
“You’ll see.” He replied with a mischievous smile.
You were stretched out on a picnic blanket in the shade of a big oak. A sweet smelling fall breeze blew through your hair and Clint tucked a stray strand behind your ear. It was sad and wistful and beautiful.
“So it’s only for a few weeks. A month at most.” Clint had planned a lovely lunch and had listened to you gush about the engagement dinner before he dropped the bomb. He had landed the deal but he had to go to the west coast for the job to work out. Apparently Mr. Stark is adamant about having Clint show his daughter how to use a bow and is willing to pay good money for his services. Still, you were sad to see him leave for any length of time.
“When do you leave?” You asked, not masking the sadness in your voice.
“Monday morning. I have an 8am flight.” Clint kissed the side of your mouth where your lips had curved down into a pout. “It'll be fine. A few weeks and then I’m back here with you and we can see where this new adventure takes us.”
 Clint walks you back to the shop with your hands tangled together. When you get to the door he leans in and leaves a soft kiss on your lips. “I'm gonna be to your place at six Sunday and we are going to go on one hell of a date, okay?” He asks, trying to make you smile before he leaves. You nod quickly and try to hold back any sadness left in your voice
“Sounds great.” He leans in and steals one more kiss before you push through the door of the shop.
Bucky stood up as you made a beeline for the bathroom. “You okay, doll?” he asked through the locked door.
“Yeah.” You called back, your voice cracking slightly.
“Sounds like you’re upset. Wanna talk about it?”
You wipe your face off and take a long look in the mirror before answering. So what if the first boyfriend you have had in ages is leaving for weeks? You have a job and good friends and he’ll be back before you know it. You open the bathroom door and Bucky stumbles a little. He had obviously been leaning on the wood before you yanked it open.
“I’m fine, Bucky. Really.” You smile at him and he visibly relaxes. “Did you finish Mrs. Sledge's car yet?”
Saturday at the shop was, well, a regular Saturday if you were being honest. Bucky had gotten in early so he could leave in time to get to Sam’s for poker night and you had zero plans even though your boyfriend would be headed across the country in less than two days. You hadn’t said anything to your friends yet, focusing mostly on your feelings without outside input. Plus they would all know soon enough, Clint would be sure to tell the guys since he was headed to Sam’s as soon as he got off as well. You moved around the garage aimlessly picking up tools and wiping of counters as you went.
“Hey. You okay? You seem a little out of it.” Peter called from around the reception area’s wall.
“I’m fine. Ready to get today over with.” You replied with a shrug. You had just finished with the last car on your list and the owner wouldn’t be back for another hour so you were left with some idle time. Idle time was the last thing you wanted though. You were going through your mental checklist of everything you needed to do before you closed up shop when the bell above the door rang and the reception area was filled with young voices. You walked to the door way and saw Peter’s friend, Ned and a new girl with curly brown hair and a fuck off attitude. You looked over at Peter who seemed to have frozen with his fingers glued to the keyboard.
You kicked the wall and he snapped out of his daze. “Hey Ned. Hey Michelle. Wha- What are you doing here?” He asked as he worked to smooth down his hair.
“I was bored after class and Ned said we should come bother you.” Michelle said, almost sounding sleepy.
“I did no- OW!” Ned started to talk but Michelle kicked him in the ankle. You tried to cover your laugh with a cough.
“Oh, yeah. This is Michelle,” Peter said turning to you.
“Hey.” You uncrossed your arms long enough to wave before tucking it back against your body. “Well, I’ll let you get back to whatever this is. When is Kevin due back for his car?”
“Um…” Peter pulled up the calendar on his computer, “In about 40 minutes.”
“Okay. If you can get his paperwork done and your desk ready you can head out early if you want. I don’t mind closing shop.” You said walking back to your work area.
“Everything is on my desk. Thanks for covering for me.” Peter said about ten minutes late while you were checking that all of the bolts were tightened.
“No problem Peter.” You replied without looking up at him. “Hey wait… Just before you go”
Peter’s sneakers squeaked against the shop floor, “Yeah?”
“Michelle. I can tell you like her. You should definitely make a move before someone snatches her up.”
“Wha- Me and MJ? We’re just friends. Been friends since high school. Tha- That’s all.” Peter stumbled through the excuse and your heart ached a little for him.
“Look kid. She likes you too. Take the chance.” You said with a sad smile.
“Thanks. I think I might. And you know what, The crazy thing is… Mr. Barnes said the same thing to me the other day.” Peter said before he took off for the office.
Nat called you some time into your third glass of whiskey and second episode of some cooking show that hates its contestants to yell at you.
“Why the fuck didn’t you say Clint was leaving?” You had to pull the phone away from your ear as she yelled.
“It’s not a big deal.”
“Not a big deal? He’s the first guy that you’ve gone out with more than once since I’ve met you and he’s leaving. How is that ‘not a big deal’?”
“It’s only for a few weeks, maybe a month. I’ll survive.”
“Me and Wanda are already on our way to your place.”
“Nat. No. Just stay at home. I’ll be okay. I’m getting ready to head to bed anyways.”
“When’s he leaving?”
“Huh?”
“When is Clint leaving?”
“He’s got a flight out Monday morning. We are going out tomorrow.”
“Fine. Me and Wanda will be over first thing.” She obviously couldn’t tell how irritated you were getting with the whole conversation.
“Why?” You appreciate her concern but you were really fine. You pinched the bridge of your nose.
“Well, one because we are your friends and we care about you and two so we can have a girls day and get you ready for your date.”
“Jesus. We aren’t getting ready for prom, Nat.”
“I know but we want to go out anyway so breakfast, nails, and shopping. Deal?” Wanda Chimed in from the background. You hadn’t realized that you were on speaker phone.
“Fine guys. But I’m really okay.”
“We’ll see you at 11. Love ya” With that Nat hung up on you.
Your friends were really annoying sometimes. You cleaned up your living room table and washed the dishes before crawling in to bed, apparently you had a big day tomorrow.
Rising from the Ashes: Of Dates and Disguises
So this is Part Seven here is to my Master List and Part Six.
--------------------------------
He texts back his Angel asking to go out this Friday night. She responded positively. He told her that he would pick her up from work. She told him not to overdo it or she wouldn’t talk to him again for a month. He promised he would try and keep it lowkey. Damian fell asleep with a smile on his face and a place in mind.
She wore a red a three-quarter sleeve dress the flows out between her elbow and wrist, the skirt is flowy and ends above the knee. She wore cute ankle boots and black tights. She grabbed her black mini purse. It was still cold, so she grabbed her navy blue winter coat has fluffy faux fur on the hood. The next day of Marinette’s work went well.
She excitedly waits outside of Lucky Spot for Damian. She hears her phone ring, she picks it up. "Hi, Angel. I'm running a bit late. I got caught up in a bunch of traffic. I thought I would be out in time, but I'll be around ten minutes late. Can I pick you up at your apartment?" Damian asks speaking louder than need be.
"Damian, that sounds super loud are you ok? Are you safe?" Marinette asked, walking towards her apartment.
"Yes it's just traffic," Damian says. "Umm, I gotta go.."
"Oh ok," She said while hanging up. She finished walking home, texted Damian her address, and turned on the news. Robin and Red Hood were fighting Mr. Freeze. Well, they finished fighting they had Mr. Freeze in cuffs and was in the GPD's custody. Robin ran off out of view, the reporter talked about the fight when she heard a knock on her door. She got up quickly while turning off the t.v. and answered the door.
"Hey Damian," She smiles as she sees the boy, normally perfect black hair was quite messy, but handsomely messy, his green eyes sparkling in her dim lights. "Welcome to my humble abode. Would you like to take a look around?"
"That would be lovely," Damian said, closing the door behind him.
"Just let me remind you that I've only been living here for a couple of days and not everything is decorated or how I would like it to be," Marinette explained, quickly. "This is my kitchen and living room it's an open floor plan." If you follow me this way I have what will be my sewing room once I sell this twin bed. This is my bedroom, it's a mess right now so I'm just going to close this real quick. Then the bathroom is right here."
"This is quite a nice apartment for only being here for a couple of days," Damian compliments. "It doesn't look like you have much stuff though. Did you not take any of your stuff with you? Did your family not give you any housewarming gifts?"
"I recently lost my parents, that's part of the reason I left," Marinette said her face falling a bit. "They died when our house burned down, so I started from scratch. The things I own now were either left by the last tenant left, hand-me-downs from Chloe, or things I recently bought."
"Well I'm sorry for your loss, but I know you're strong. I'll be here if you need my support, Angel, as your friend or something more," Damian said, Marinette ran over and hugged him.
"Thank you, Damian. That means so much to me," Marinette said into his chest.
"You ready for dinner, Angel?" Damian asked, rubbing her back.
"Yes, just as long as it's nothing over the top as I said last night," Marinette said, looking up at the handsome boy breaking away from the hug.
"Yes, come on," Damian said as she locked the door. They walked downstairs, Damian then opens the door to his car for her.
"So where are we going?" She says, buckling her seat belt.
"It's going to be a surprise," Damian smirked, looking forward at the road, safety first.
"Can't wait," Marinette said, looking at the window, watching the city go by. "The city is so beautiful. Oh! I forgot to ask, did you get caught up in the Mr. Freeze traffic. I saw it on the news, man it must have crazy growing up in this city."
"You saw that?" Damian asked, looking over at the beautiful girl.
"Yes, it was the traffic light boy," Marinette smirked. "and Red Hood. They took him down quite fast, but Robin left quickly after Mr. Freeze was in cuffs."
"Traffic Light Boy?" He asks, remembering what Ladybug had said the night before. He smiles, knowing that the girl he wants as his girlfriend, is even more amazing than he thought.
Marinette blushes as she explains. "I didn't know Robin's name when I moved here, but my first impression was a traffic light. The designer in me died just a bit but since it's a right of passage, and it's quite honorable."
"We're here," Damian said, getting out of the car then he opens the door for Marinette. "Welcome to the first restaurant my father took me to when he first got custody of me from my mother."
"This looks so homey, what food do they serve," Marinette asked, taking a seat on a stool at the counter.
"Burgers, french fries, hotdogs, milkshakes, and pizza. I hated American food growing up because my mother had me on a strict diet," Damian said. "It's still not my favorite, but I want you to have the full American experience. Do you want to get a little of everything and just split it?"
"Sounds good," Marinette giggles. "So you've heard about me. What can you tell me about you?"
"I grew up with my mother Talia and my grandfather. They were big on self-defense, I spent a lot of time on learning martial arts; I have achieved many black belts. I don't want to talk about myself, I want to hear more about you," Damian said. The waitress came over and took their order.
"I started designing at a young age because I didn't want to be in my parents' bakery shadow. They were the best in Paris, but I didn't want to disappoint them if I wasn't as good as them. As a thirteen-year-old in collège, I started designing for Jagged Stone. I also was found by Gabriel Agreste after winning a competition. He then let me release my line," Marinette told him. The food had arrived and as Damian said they split everything. "So what do you want to do after you're done with school?"
"As the only true blood heir to Wayne Enterprises my brother decided that I would inherit the company, but they would always help me," Damian said, taking a bite of burger. "How do you like American food?"
"It's pretty good, but it seems super unhealthy. I think I'll stick to homemade Parisian food for a while. Next time I'll make the food," Marinette said, pulling out her wallet from her purse to pay.
"Ok you know that I am a son of one of the richest men in the world, but you insist on pay, why?" Damian asks, taking her wallet before she could pull out money.
"Because, my prince, you were first Damian, Titus' owner. The boy I first met was adorably nervous, complimented me, and insisted on paying for breakfast as a sorry for being tackled by his dog," Marinette said. "I'll pay the tip. It's a tip or all meal."
"Fine," Damian said, giving her back her wallet. He paid the part he said he would. They left and he held the restaurant door open then also opened his car door for her. Damian walked Marinette up to her apartment.
"Thank you, Damian, for walking me up to my apartment," Marinette said unlocking her door then turns toward him.
"Thank you for coming with me. You make me happy, Angel,"  Damian said looking down at her. Marinette leaned up and kissed his cheek. He leaned forward and whispered. "Angel, may I kiss you?"
"Prince, I thought you would never ask," Marinette leaned up and met his lips. They are incredibly soft. They broke their chaste kiss. "Goodnight my Prince."
"Wait, Angel, will you be my girlfriend?" Damian said stopping the door before she could finish closing it.
"I would love that," Marinette said hugging him.
"Thank you, Angel, for making my life brighter," he said, kissing her head. "Good night, Marinette."
"Good night, Damian," She closes the door with a smile, she slides to the ground.
The next morning Marinette got up and put on a straight long brown with blonde highlights wig she had bought earlier that week. She put on green contacts and wore the horse miraculous. She wore an emerald green shirt and her black skater skirt, all paired with green converse.
“Hey, Chloe,” Marinette said into her phone. “I’m about the teleport is it ok if I use your room.”
“Ya I’m here now, I’ll be waiting,” Chloe said then hung up.
“You heard Chloe, girls,” Marinette said looking at the kwamis. “Kaaliki full gallop. Full forth!"
The portal opened and she stepped through, now standing In Chloe’s room. She detransforms and hugs her friend.
“I haven’t seen you in forever!” Marinette said.
“It hasn’t been a week,” Chloe said.
“It feels like longer though. Guess what?” Marinette said breaking the hug now looking at her friend.
“What, you got  Titus owner to be your boyfriend,” Chloe guesses, rolling her eyes. Marinette blushes. “Wait seriously? You’ve been in America for five days and you already have a boyfriend? I guess I need to come to America too. Help me pack my bags?”
“Chloe his name is Damian and he’s super sweet,” Marinette smiles.
“Lila’s fake boyfriend’s name is also Damian,” Chloe snickers and then mimics. "Her Damiboo is so shy." They laugh together and Chloe takes a closer look at Marinette. "So who are you today?" Chloe asks
"Today I am Ann Prince, and I am here to visit my dear childhood friend, Chloe," Marinette said in a British accent, twirling.
"Hello Ann I'm happy to see you again, it has been ages," Chloe says, hugging her long lost friend. "What do you have planned for today?"
"Well, I would love to see the friends your friends you speak so highly of. If I remember correctly Adrien and Kagami have a fencing tournament, then Kitty Section has a performance," Marinette said with a smile.
"I'll text my friends to let them know that my dear friend Ann is coming," Chloe said texting them. "Want some lunch before the tournament?"
"I woke up, got dressed and came here, so breakfast would be better," Marinette said as they leave Chloe's room.
"How about brunch?" she says closing the door. "There's a small cafe near here we can go to."
"That would be lovely," Marinette said as they walk together in sync they talk about everything they had missed. They eat eggs and benedict. They talk about their futures, how Chloe is doing in school, and most importantly Christmas.
When they arrive they sit in the front row. They're on the quieter side careful not to draw attention to themselves. After Kagami won the girl's division she came and sat with Ann and Chloe. She smiled seeing the bluenette turned brunette.
"Good job you guys! Hi, my name is Ann, I'm one of Chloe's childhood friends," Marinette greeted, still speaking in her British accent.
"Hi, I am Adrien Agreste, and this is my beautiful girlfriend Kagami," Adrien said, hugging Ann.
"Hello, Ann," Kagami said also hugging her. Lila and Alya walk up to the group.
"So who is your new friend, you're all so quick to replace Marinette. What? Is she a bully too?" Aha sneers.
"Well I am Ann Prince, it is a pleasure to meet you," she said, holding out a hand with a sickeningly sweet smile.
"Ann you don't want to hang out with these people, they are bullies," Lila warned smiling.
"Lila, why are you here?" Adrien said, stepping in front of Ann.
"I came to see you of course Adrihoney! You are my boyfriend!" Lila screamed, wrapping her arms around his neck.
"Lila, I've told you many times that we are not dating. I'm dating Kagami and have been for two years," Adrien said.
"We both know your father is making you date her. I'll be here for when you can finally be free from her cold claws," Lila said, walking off with Alya tailing behind her.
"Well, you guys ready to head to Kitty Section's performance?" Marinette asks.
"Sounds like a plan, Ann," Chloe said, locking elbows as they walk out of the school.
Kitty Section is playing at the TVi studio as part of a competition judged by Uncle Jagged. Apparently, he had been a bit quieter since his niece's funeral. She was excited to see her friends and her uncle even from afar. Luka won the best guitar solo, but Kitty Section did not win as a group.
"Hi, Luka! My name is Ann and I'm an old friend of Chloe. It's nice to meet you," Marinette said still in her British accent, hugging the bluenette. "Congratulations, I loved your guitar solo! The rest of your group was pretty good."
"Thank you, Ann, you guys ready for dinner? I’m starving," Luka said turning to the rest of the group.
"That sounds great! I haven't eaten since before the competition," Adrien said, rubbing his stomach.
They ate dinner together. They chatted and she told them the news of her and Damian. She told them about the Gotham heroes and everything in between. They told her about their Christmas plans. They smile as the pay and say goodbye. She left to go talk to Master Fu.
"Master Fu, it's good to see you, she says bowing. "I ended up in America, how are you able to get me the correct papers?"
"It's good to see you again Ms. Marinette. I like the wig and contacts a simple but good disguise," Master Fu compliments. "I just have my connections, don't worry it's nothing illegal."
The process didn't take long and soon she was heading back to Chloe's room. She opened the door to see her friends sitting down watching an anime. She sat down on the couch her friends and watch half an anime before they're interrupted by a bing.
Prince: Hey Angel how are you doing
"Aww Damian is texting," Marinette said, smiling at her phone.
Angel: Pretty good. what've you been up to today?
'Prince: I had a couple of meetings today. They were boring, but I'm alive. How bout you'
Angel: Chloe video called me so I could watch Adrien and Kagami's tournament. Then Kagami video called me so I could watch Luka's performance. It was fun. Want to come to my apartment tomorrow for a homemade meal
Prince: I would love that
Angel: Great see you, tomorrow prince
Prince: It sounds like you're getting ready for bed, but do you realize it's only two o'clock
Angel: Seriously I didn't even realize it
Prince: Lost in a design?
Angel: No, Adrien recommended us all a different and new anime, Sword Art Online. It's pretty good
Prince: Well I hope you enjoy it. Dick is telling me to pay attention. Bye Angel.
Angel: Good luck, Prince.
Marinette smiles, standing up while saying. "Guys. I should be going. It's already eight here, two in Gotham. I'll miss you guys, I'll be back for Chinese New Year and regular New Year."
"Well we can't wait to see you again Ann," Adrien said, hugging the girl the rest join in the group hug.
"Kaalki, full gallop," She transforms back into Mare. "Thank you for announcing my moving, by the way. Full forth. See you guys soon." Then she was gone. She had taken some French food she had missed a bit. She put the food in the kitchen, and grabbed her sketchbook, wanting to sketch her new found inspiration from being home. After a couple of hours of designing, and a shower she went to bed early because of jet lag sorta.
A Serious Relationship (Part 1)
Paring: Ben Barnes x Reader
Warnings: soft ben™ and it’s pretty much for the general.
Word Count: 1786 words
Summary: Ben is looking forward for a date with you, and is shy.
Note: This is the result of my midnight reveries and I couldn’t help myself but to write and make up a soft side of Ben Barnes. Make sure to judge it through comments or annon asks because it’s what motivates me to write more. Tell me what’s good and what needs improvement.
Remember, this is purely fictional.
Enjoy reading, and if you do, tell me if you want me to tag you in future updates.
Tumblr media
Benjamin dates for a serious relationship, not for a fling, casual sex or one night stand. He does take his time knowing and learning the women he meets whether the time he will invest in her will be worth it. He’s a serious kind of guy when it comes to relationships and doesn’t like fooling around like a young man, anymore. After all, he was in his mid thirties.
To him, dating isn’t hard. Women basically throw themselves at him despite his growing age. Finding the perfect woman is what is actually hard in his situation. Well, he isn’t really looking for the ‘perfect’ woman, as in flawless. That might never happen. He was just searching for the right woman who is perfect for him, a kind of woman who’s not just into his looks, fame and money.
Ben’s mind lingered around the phone call he had last night, trying to remember how well it went and thinking if this is the one he’s looking for. He brushed the thought off but he couldn’t suppress the smile plastered in his face. He just couldn’t wait for Saturday to find out.
His friends sat down in front of him, greeting him and allowing some time to catch up for the meanwhile as he just got back to Los Angeles a week from now, but his lingering bright and wide smile is not left unnoticed by the party.
“So what’s with your smile Barnes? It is very unsettling not to know what you hide behind those excited face of yours.” Candela said to him and he just laughed at her remark.
“Well as far as I know Ben, love, it’s either he got a role or got a girl.” Cody guessed as his arm went behind Candela’s chair. Ben shook his head in disbelief at this couple’s observation. These two were his closest friends in LA, and he didn’t mind at all being a third wheel for these two.
“So which is it, Barnes?” Candela proceeded to push Ben and he took a swig of his beer, putting the bottle down before speaking.
“A girl.” He said and clasped his hands together, setting them on the table. “Trying my luck, you know. Date tomorrow. ” He added.
“Well we hope it’ll be smooth. Do you know her well?” As a girl’s nature to be curious, Candela went on to interview Ben about this woman.
“Hmm. No not really, but she was nice and all.” Ben replied, the twinkle in his eyes earlier was lost and was replaced with a worrying look. “What do you guys think?” He asked, hoping for reassurance of his actions. It is not that he’s dependent on others but lately, the dates he’d been at weren’t going too well.
“As long as she doesn’t drool the first second she sees you, I think it’s okay.” Cody commented and Candela hit him with her elbow.
“You didn’t have to make him remember that.”
Ben laughed at his friends while shaking his head. “No Candela, it’s alright.” He said as his mind reminisced at the last date he’d been on. The girl was stammering the entire date, her eyes were practically undressing him and it’s unbelievably funny that it’s not the reason why he was so turned off. She ordered quite a sad dinner like she was starving herself and then momentarily glancing at his. He wanted to tell her that she could have ordered a dinner to her liking, he wouldn’t care if she eats the entire menu there but he didn’t want to be rude.
“You’ve got to tell us about her more.” Said Candela, not showing a hint of dropping the topic about Ben’s awaited date on Saturday.
“She’s a nutritionist, consulted her once already. We agreed to meet every three months for my diet plan, my doctor recommended her to me and I actually thought having a nutritionist is beneficial for my health.”
“Dear god, old man.” Candela said, shaking her head laughing. “I mean, god, you’re too conscious for your health lately as if you’re in your sixties.” She added trying to control her laughter.
“Maybe you should hire yourself a nutritionist.” Her boyfriend mumbled and she gaped at him.
“You think I’m fat?” She asked, eyes flaring.
“No, I think you’re eating too much unhealthy food.” Cody said and Ben laughed at the two.
“Yeah hire her so I could see her more often.” Ben suggested and Candela rolled her eyes at him.
“And you agree to this man? I feel so ganged up.” She said as she dramatically sighed at her boyfriend and him.
Ben knew better and he couldn’t lie any longer at himself. No, he didn’t need a nutritionist. He was eating fine and healthy enough for all he knew. It just happened that he saw you at one of his doctor’s frames during his annual check up and asked who you were and that’s when you were introduced to him. He took a business card from his doctor, learning that she was your mother and that you had recently taken a job at the current hospital he was in.
During his first consultation with you one afternoon, you were confused. He looked like he didn’t need a nutritionist. You asked him a few questions about the food he eats and etc, all those basic questions to learn his lifestyle and you did give him nutritional advice. You told him that a two consultation a year would be enough for him but he insisted to meet you every three months. You thought of it as a waste of money, but he was Ben Barnes. You were completely aware of his identity. Maybe he needs this for his career or something, you really can’t turn down a job. For Ben, his hundred dollars was worth it.
Wednesday, a few days after that meeting, he already had your work number saved in his phone and he dialed it unconsciously. When you answered, that’s when it dawned to him that he might have disturbed you from your work.
“Hi, Mr. Barnes. Anything I can help you with?” You greet him with a clear voice he liked hearing so much.
“Oh... I...” he stammered and he heard you chuckling on the other line. “Well I called to ask you if you’re free for Saturday night?” He finally said and was actually scared that you’d turn him down but that was short-lived as you replied.
“Hold on, I’ll check my schedule.”
He heard you flipping through papers on what he deemed as a planner for a few moments.
“I have a patient until 8 pm though.” You said. Ben didn’t know you were nipping at your lip as you try to comprehend why he is asking. You didn’t want to assume.
“Hmm.” He hummed as if thinking if it’s better to proceed to directly tell you his offer. “That’s like dinner time.”
You laughed more and was shaking your head involuntarily. If he wants a date, he could just ask. You thought. “Yes Ben, that’s dinner time.”
You didn’t hear a reply from him and got worried. “So... what do you want on Saturday night at dinner time Mr. Barnes?” You asked. You can hear Ben nervously huffing out a breath.
“I wanted to take you to dinner. I’m sorry, I’m so not good at this.” He said and released a silent chuckle.
“Well I kind of figured it out. You are in fact, asking me to dinner at my work number.”
Ben had his heart rapidly beating inside him, nervously laughing at you as he waited for your answer. “But yes Mr. Barnes, a dinner with you is a great honor. I’ll send you my personal number so you don’t have to reach this one. Send me the address, would you?” You said and right then and there his heart felt like it leaped out of him.
“Yes! Yes why not?” Ben replied, sounding way too surprised and happy which caused you to smile behind the call.
“So I have to go now Ben. Eat your lunch and don’t starve yourself out of excitement. See you.” You said and dropped the call.
Ben snapped out of his trance when he felt his phone buzzed in his pocket. Fishing it out, he saw your name on the notification and quickly unlocked his phone to respond. You and him had been sending messages back and forth since that call and you were reciprocating his sweet lines which he was very relieved about.
I’m eating lunch with friends. Actually considering eating the pickles this time instead of picking them out of my burger.
He typed and hit send. He scrolled up to where the conversation started that day. He messaged you the first thing in the morning, wanting you to wake up with a “good morning, have a nice day!” message and he would imagine that you would smile at it.
You replied a few minutes before six with “Good Morning too Ben. Hope ‘you’ have a nice day because I’m expecting a tiring one and it won’t be nice at all.” He would smile at that message of yours, shaking his head and wanting to comfort you after a long day at work but he brushed the thought away thinking it’s too early to think about that in this fresh relationship. Actually, there was no relationship yet, but he went along.
He first searched ‘relaxing food’ before replying to you. “Make sure you eat berries for breakfast and reward yourself with dark chocolates after a long day which bustle.com had told me it helps a person relax during stressing time.(https://www.bustle.com/articles/157580-11-foods-to-eat-when-youre-stressed-that-can-help-you-relax)” Ben said, pasting a link together with the message.
You couldn’t help laughing and smiling at that message. Ben was very thoughtful and you were beginning to like him more. It’s easy to talk to him through messages and they were definitely the ones that helped you go through the exhausting day.
At night when both of you are surely tucked in your own beds, he made sure he sent you a ”good night and see you tomorrow” message before he could drift off to sleep. By the time you replied, he was already deep in his dreams.
Saturday morning, he woke up looking forward for the day and checked his phone. There was an unread message from you last night and upon reading it, suddenly he is looking forward for the day to end.
“Oh right, I forgot to tell you. I can’t make it tomorrow. Mom asked the entire family for a dinner gathering just a few hours ago and I couldn’t refuse. I’m so sorry Ben. Good night, sleep well.”
(Not-At-All) Dirty Little Secret
Summary: On National Coming Out Day, Richie gathers the Losers together for dinner before the first show in his new stand-up tour.
After the show, he & Eddie have a Conversation.
Warnings: Usual Richie trashmouthing.
Word Count: ~2200.
Author’s Note: How many different fix-its can I write that involve Reddie getting together? Idk, but I’m having a blast doing it. :D.
In honor of National Coming Out Day. To all my LGBTQ+ friends & readers, you are seen & heard. Don’t let anyone ever let you feel like you’re less than your worth.
CROSS-POSTED ON AO3
Richie Tozier checked his phone one last time as he finished rehearsing for his new stand-up show, pulling up the Losers group text thread and scrolling back to the beginning of the conversation about his show that night. Hey so, uh, my new tour is kicking off at the Laugh-Out-Loud Comedy Club in San Antonio on October 11th and I'd love for you all to be there. I'll be there all weekend if you guys want to come.
He had held his breath as the replies started rolling in from everyone but the one person he most wanted to hear from.
BEV: Ben and I will be there!
BEN: We wouldn't miss it for the world.
MIKE: Of course, man.
BILL: Absolutely.
Finally, after what seemed like forever (although it probably was really only 20 minutes) the last reply came.
EDDIE: I'll be there.
Richie had let out a huge sigh of relief and responded with, Thanks, guys. I'll tell my manager to arrange everything and get you all VIP tickets. Thinking we can do dinner before the show.
BILL: Sounds great!
MIKE: I'm down.
BEV: Losers' Reunion Dinner! :) <3
EDDIE: No Chinese though. I still have an aversion to fortune cookies.
Richie had laughed before replying. I'm with Eddie on this one. I'll check for some recommendations.
They had ultimately decided on The Esquire, a tavern near the club that had come highly recommended by some of the locals from the club.
Richie's manager had booked everyone at the same hotel that Richie was staying at for the weekend, at Richie's insistence. Since Richie had to rehearse, he had told the other Losers that he would just meet them for dinner and had arranged for a car to take them from the hotel to dinner and the club and back. He had arranged for his own transportation just in case what he had planned tonight didn't go well.
A new message came in.
BILL: Richie, you said a CAR was picking us up from the hotel. This is too much.
Richie grinned. Technically, a limo is a car. Besides, I told you guys you were getting the VIP treatment.
EDDIE: What he means is thank you.
BILL: Richie knows what I mean.
EDDIE: We'll see you soon.
Richie's mouth went dry. He grabbed the bottle of water he had stashed by the microphone and took a long swig. Showtime.
He climbed into the Uber he had called and greeted his driver, then practiced the speech he had prepared in his head the entire ride over to the Esquire, his hand shaking nervously. Come on, Tozier. Get your shit together. You can battle a psychotic killer space-clown twice, you can do this.
Soon (too soon?) the car stopped in front of the Esquire.
Richie thanked his driver and headed inside, taking a deep breath as he headed to the private room he had reserved for their party.
"What's up, fuckers?" he said, entering the room.
"Richie!" a chorus greeted him.
Ben wrapped him in a hug first, followed by Bev, who also gave him a kiss on the cheek. Mike, then Bill shook his hand, then finally, Eddie.
Eddie, Eddie, Eddie. Eddie was wearing jeans, a button-down shirt that was open at the collar, and a black leather jacket, and Richie honestly thought that Eddie had never looked hotter. He suddenly got nervous again. Fuck, I can't do this, he thought.  Actually, shit, I have to. It's not right to let them find out later with everyone else.
They sat and ordered drinks, with Richie making his a double. He had promised his manager that he wouldn't get drunk before the show, but he never said anything about a little liquid courage.
After their drinks were delivered and they had placed their orders, Bill had raised his glass. "I'd like to make a toast to the man of the hour -- Richie, who has brought us together -- but we're not fighting a multi-dimensional demon clown this time, are we?"
Richie looked around. "Well, no, I don't see Eds's mom anywhere, do you?"
"Hey, fuck you, bro," Eddie said, but with no heat to it.
Richie cleared his throat. No time like the present. "Actually, I do have something to talk to you guys about."
Five pairs of eyes watched him expectantly.
He fiddled with his glass. "I, uh… I'm, well…" He looked up to the ceiling as if it could give him the courage to say what he needed to say.
He felt a hand on his wrist, then glanced down to see Eddie's black leather-jacketed arm give him a gentle squeeze before retracting. Suddenly his own words came back to him: You're braver than you think.
He took a deep breath. "I'm gay."
Silence followed his statement until Beverly stood up, walked around the table, and wrapped him in a hug. "Thank you for being brave enough to tell us," she said, which prompted the others to also get up and give Richie a hug and their own words of affirmation.
Richie was probably imagining things, but it felt like Eddie lingered in his embrace a little longer than necessary. He didn't have time to dwell on the thought though because soon after, their food arrived.
Dinner went normally, with the only mention of Richie's sexuality being Ben asking politely if Richie was seeing anyone.
Richie shook his head. "No, no, not seeing anyone right now. Honestly there really haven't been too many guys I've been interested in lately." He had shot a quick glance over at Eddie, who was currently studying his gluten-free turkey burger like it was the most fascinating thing he had ever seen. Just one in particular.
After dinner, Richie joined the others in the limo on the way to the club. With six people in the car, it was a bit crowded, but Richie definitely didn't mind Eddie sitting close to him.
Once they had gotten to the club, Richie headed backstage while the Losers went to their seats.
Soon it was time for the show. Richie pumped himself up while he waited to be announced. You fucking did it, man. You came out to your friends and the world didn't end. You're not dirty, or wrong, or broken. You're still Richie.
He was surprisingly calm as he made his way onstage, knowing that he had the support and love of the people who mattered most to him.
"What the fuck is up, San Antonio?" he greeted the cheering audience. "How you guys doing tonight?"
He grabbed the mic off of the stand. "It's so fucking great to be kicking off my new tour here. So I was near my hotel earlier, and…"
Richie fed off of the energy of the crowd, getting more laughs with his all-original jokes than he had ever gotten with his old writer's stuff.
"So I had my sexual awakening at 13," he continued, grabbing ahold of the mic stand for support. "And I'm gonna preface this by reminding you guys that I grew up in the 80's. Any Gen-X'ers in the house?"
Hoots and whistles pierced the air.
"Awesome, Ok, so yeah, anyway, I had my sexual awakening at 13. I had this group of friends, and the summer I turned 13 we all went swimming at the quarry in my hometown, and this group of friends had this one particular girl - you know the type. I mean she was beautiful -- milky white skin, fiery red hair, she was just gorgeous." He sent Bev a cheeky wink before continuing. "So anyway, all us guys are staring at her while she was sunbathing and all of a sudden it hit me -- I had no attraction towards her what-so-ever."
He paused and let his words sink in before continuing. "Then I look over to another one of my friends and it was like a chorus of angels started singing. Beautiful, amazing girl -- nothing. Pale, skinny little white guy -- instant boner. You guys have no idea how hot a pair of long legs in some short-shorts and a fanny pack were to teenage me. They say if you jerk off too much you could go blind…" He exaggeratedly pushed his glasses further up oh his face. "Well, I guess that was pretty much the truth in my case." He paused as the crowd laughed.
"So yeah, in honor of National Coming Out Day, surprise, motherfuckers!"  Richie chuckled as the audience cheered. "Thank you so much for being so supportive and such a great crowd -- I'll see you next time!" He waved before making his way off stage.
"Richie, that was brilliant!" his manager said, handing him a napkin to wipe the sweat off his brow. "You killed it! Listen, I've already been fielding calls from Out Magazine and a couple of the late-night talk shows…"
Richie shook his head. "Can we talk about this tomorrow?" he said. "Tonight I just want to celebrate with my friends."
"Sure, sure. I had them escorted back to the limo since you already did your meet & greet with the other VIPs."
"Thanks, man." Richie tossed the napkin in a nearby bin and made his way to the back of the club, where the limo was waiting for him.
He threw open the door and climbed in. "So what did you guys--" he cut himself off.
The limo was empty except for one person. Eddie looked up from where he was sitting. "Hey, Richie."
Richie looked around. "Where's everyone else?"
Eddie looked uncomfortable. "They, uh, they said they'd meet us back at the hotel and went ahead and got an Uber. Can we talk?"
Richie froze. Shit. "Um, yeah, sure Eds." He closed the door behind him and made his way over to the seat, leaving a good bit of space between him & Eddie. "What's up?"
Eddie bit his lip. "I didn't announce this during dinner because I didn't want to overshadow you coming out, but… I divorced Myra once I got back to New York."
Richie had been so distracted by Eddie in his black leather jacket, exuding just a *hint* of bad-boy appeal, that he had never really looked at Eddie's hands. Sure enough, Eddie's ring finger no longer bore the gold band that he had been sporting the last time Richie had seen him. "Holy shit, dude. I honestly wasn't sure if you had it in you."
Eddie smiled softly. "Well, a wise man once told me that I was braver than I thought, so as soon as I got home I packed the rest of my stuff and told Myra that I wanted a divorce.  I played it safe for so many years and was so warped by my mother that I pretty much wound up marrying her clone. Myra was just like her, even down to her buying my clothes."
Richie blushed and cast his eyes downward. "Um, yeah, I kind of noticed you looked different tonight. You uh, you look good."
Eddie shrugged and smiled shyly, then took Richie's hand. "Tonight, in your act, when you publicly came out… You said you had been attracted to one of your friends who wore short-shorts and a fanny pack. You were talking about me, weren't you?"
Richie squeezed his eyes shut. Fuck, fuck, fuck. "Um--"
"Rich? Please tell me that wasn't just part of your act." Eddie's voice sounded so hopeful that Richie's heart squeezed. He dragged his eyes back up to Eddie's. "No, not at all. Shit, Eds, you have no idea how much I lo--"
He was cut off by Eddie's lips on his own.
Hoooooooly fuck. Richie melted into the kiss, scooting closer and reaching up to gently caress Eddie's face. "Oh my God, Eds…" he muttered against Eddie's lips.
Eddie broke the kiss. "I know it's probably obvious by now, but I'm gay too," he replied. "And I'm in love with you. I've been in love with you for over 28 years now. Ever since we were kids."
"Fucking Christ, I love you too," Richie said breathlessly, pulling Eddie back to him for another kiss. He licked his way into Eddie's mouth, savoring the taste of mint (wait, did Eddie actually fucking brush his teeth while he was waiting on me? he briefly wondered) and Eddie.
Once breathing became a necessity, they broke apart and Richie leaned his forehead against Eddie's. "Jesus, this is like the beginning of every single one of my childhood fantasies come true," he panted, his hands still on Eddie's face.
Eddie wrapped his fingers around Richie's hands. "Mine too." He turned and placed a kiss against Richie's palm where his oath scar used to be, a kiss so tender that it made Richie want to cry.
Suddenly the limo stopped and the driver's voice came over the speaker. "Mr. Tozier, we've arrived back at your hotel."
"Uh, thanks," Richie replied, before turning to Eddie. "So what do we do now?"
Eddie smirked. "Well, first we need to go have another coming-out with our friends in the hotel bar, then after that I'm dragging you upstairs, where we're going to fulfill the rest of our childhood fantasies."
And they did. Repeatedly.
Birthday Celebrations
In honor of Bucky Barnes’ birthday, I decided to dedicate a piece to him. Calleigh discovers Bucky is celebrating his birthday alone since Nat and Steve are on a mission and Sam is on a date. She cancels her plans to spend time with him and year after year this repeats with a few other celebrations tossed in the mix. One year, feelings are revealed and their relationship becomes something more.
           Being with the Avengers meant meeting all sorts of personalities. Some I got along with like Steve, Natasha, Wanda and Tony. Others, not so much. Loki happened to be on this list and for some unknown reason Stephen Strange. He didn’t particularly like me as I was told by Tony. When I inquired as to why, Strange kept giving vague answers; the “excuses” ranged from too cheerful or too friendly or – and this was my favorite – too outgoing. To be fair, the girls and I went out a lot; Eating, drinking, clubbing, you name it. If it was exciting enough for us, we’d be there.
           Other personalities were still a mystery to me. It depended on the person. It took me a while to get to know Clint, Vision, or Sam. Even Carol had deemed me suspicious and it took her a while to warm up to my bright personality. Bucky was on this list too, though for different reasons. I didn’t dislike the man and I suspected that he didn’t dislike me either, but we didn’t know too much about each other to come to a decision. He seemed friendly, but other days – the terrible days – he’d be off standish and distant. I hoped the more time I spent with him, the more I’d get to see him open up.
           Though it was rare for us to ever be alone together. Bucky would often spend his time with Steve, Nat or Sam; they’d become his comfort group and he didn’t stray much from them. He’d be alone sometimes too and that was when he’d chosen to isolate himself from the group for obvious reasons; when he was having a bad day, he didn’t think being around others was a good idea. I’d venture off with Carol, Wanda, Maria and Nat. As time went on, I discovered I desired to spend time with him; a developing crush I hadn’t expected. Who could blame me? He was good looking, especially when he had taken the time to get his hair cut and his beard shaved. He’d been hot before, now it was almost as if the transformation had only intensified his looks.
           The day we’d start getting to know one another came on his birthday, which came as a shock to me. Steve and Natasha were sent on a mission and no one else knew it was his birthday outside of his comfort group. I had planned on going out with Carol and Wanda to dinner and bowling afterwards, so it surprised me when I came downstairs and saw him sitting alone in the kitchen. I made a pit stop to pre-game with a beer and he was perched on one of the stools sipping one of his own, a solemn expression on his features.
           “Hey, Barnes. What’s up with you? You seem a bit down today,” I greeted him. I propped my elbows on the island counter across from him, taking another sip of my beer. I took him in; the green Henley shirt, the black jeans made him handsome in my view. I thought my outfit was great; the loose grey tank top and dark blue jeans paired with black sparkly Converse, but he definitely out did me on the hotness scale. I had even curled my plum-colored hair, a decision made to bring out my ice blue eyes.
           “Nothing. It doesn’t concern you. Steve and Nat are on a mission and I’m having to celebrate alone,” he answered, the last sentence a whisper. I still caught it.
           “Oooh. What are you celebrating? A new relationship? Training moves? Maybe you played-,”
           “It’s my birthday,” he interrupted my teasing. I frowned, feeling terrible about messing with him. Maybe that’s why people didn’t care for me. Could I be too sarcastic? Too teasing?
           “Oh. It’s your birthday? Today? Why isn’t anyone throwing a grand party? You know Tony can’t resist a gathering if it’s contained within our group,”
           “I didn’t tell many people about my birthday. Only my closest friends know and they’re on a mission,”
           “Where’s Sam? Doesn’t he know?”
           “Out with his girlfriend. He had already made plans before we figured out what we were doing and then the last-minute mission came in. I wasn’t needed and now I’m by myself,” I nodded, polishing off my beer. As I tossed the bottle in the recycle bin, an idea popped in my head.
           “Hey, I know! Why don’t you and I hang out? I’ll be happy to celebrate with you and it’ll give us a chance to get to know each other better,” I said, turning around to face him. He raised an eyebrow, putting down his bottle after a long drag of liquid.
           “I thought you had plans,” he responded.
           “Nothing a quick text can’t fix. I’ll text Carol and Wanda and reschedule. And now…my night is clear,” I exclaimed, showing him the rescheduled plans. “So, what you like to do? What would Bucky Barnes like to do on his birthday?” I asked. He looked at me, a stunned expression on his features.
           “We could go see a movie. Grab dinner go drinking. Stay in and watch a movie. Go dancing. Bowling? Roller skating? Just hang out and talk?” I suggested.
           “I…uh…can we stay in? Order food and watch a movie?” he asked, a pink hue lighting his cheeks.
           “Sure, but first I must go out for a few minutes,”
           “Why?”
           “It’s a surprise,” I answered, winking. I grabbed my purse and left the compound, heading for the grocery store. The surprise in question was supplies for a birthday cake. I had noticed that when there was party thrown for Steve, Nat or Sam, a chocolate ganache cake was requested from Bucky every time. I figured it was his favorite, so I picked up the supplies needed to make it. I returned and we agreed to order in burgers, placing an order at one of the diners the Avengers frequented. While we waited, I started preparing to bake the cake. While we are, I assembled the layers once cool, decorating it with ganache, putting a few candles in it, lighting them.
           “Make a wish birthday boy,” I said, carrying it into the den and placing it on the coffee table. I knelt on the floor and watched as he appeared to think of a wish. Bucky blew out the candles, the smoke curling upwards towards the ceiling.
           “Wish for something good?” I asked.
           “Definitely. Thank you, Calleigh,”
           “You’re welcome, Bucky,” I got up to get plates and a knife to cut the cake, bringing forks to eat it with. We settled down to watch a comedy he chose and as the movie came to an end, we sat on the couches talking. Turns out we had a lot in common with some of things we liked. Movies, books, T.V. shows and more. The conversation felt natural, flowing from subject to subject.
           “Is that the time already?” I asked, catching the digital numbers on the clock behind us; They read 2 a.m., surprising me.
           “Yeah, I guess it is. Maybe we should turn in, though I’ve been having a great time,” he said.
           “Me too. You’re right. Training is in five hours,” I said. We got up and said goodnight, turning in for the rest of the evening. This was the start of our growing relationship.
             Each year that passed, we’d repeat our hangout session, more even before his birthday would come around. There would be an additional celebration with Natasha, Steve, and Sam, but we’d always end the night alone; sometimes we’d spend the whole night talking, the morning sun peeping in on us, time merging in on itself. Training sessions would be tiring, and we’d have to tap out to get some rest.
           These celebrations between Bucky and me varied each time. Once it was a weekend skiing, once bowling, movies, but they’d always end the same; with cake and laughter, smiles and subtle touches.
           “You and Bucky are spending an awful lot of time together. Am I expected to hear wedding bells sometime soon?” Nat had commented one night during an outing with Wanda and Carol. I blushed and brushed it off as Bucky and I were just close friends.
           “Uh huh, sure. I’m positive he thinks of it as just close friendship too,” she said. The blush deepened, but she didn’t push the subject of the matter any further. Things would change soon, and all feelings would be brought forth.
              Another year, another birthday.
           “Bucky! Happy birthday!” I shouted, flying into the den and throwing my arms around his neck in an embrace.
           “Calleigh! Thank you. Let me guess, you cancelled your plans to spend my birthday with me…again,” he said.
           “What plans? My calendar is free. What do you want to do this year?” I answered, winking.
           “Do you remember when you celebrated with me the first time? You suggested dancing that year. I want to go dancing. Get dressed up and everything,” he requested.
           “Consider your wish granted,” We went to our rooms, changed and drove downtown. Apparently, he had found a place which held old-fashioned dances – all ages welcomed – and decided it was where we were meant to be. It also served dinner between dances; out choice of meal – pasta, a classic.
           “Shall we?” he asked, extending his hand. I nodded and he led me to the dancefloor. Silence, then music started up. Not 40’s as I originally thought it might be, but waltz music instead.
           “I’m afraid I don’t know how to waltz,” I told him.
           “Don’t worry. I’ll lead you through it,” he said, taking my hands and placing them in the correct positions, a familiar longing echoing in my heart. It was intimate, romantic and only intensified my crush on him. The music stopped and so did we. Time froze or it rather seemed like it. We gazed at each other, our breathing almost in sync.
           I couldn’t tell if the room was warm or if my body was only reacting to him, to Bucky. I heard my breath hitch when leaned in; my heart freezing in its beating as his lips touched mine; soft, tender and delicious. The cold metal of his fingers reached up to cup my jaw. The kiss was gentle, yet passion lingered in it and I wanted more. More of him. I was vaguely aware of my hands clutching him tightly, afraid if I let go, the dream would end. He pulled back, his forehead touching mine.
           “Can I have one more wish?” he asked.
           “Yes. What do you wish for?” I answered. He closed his eyes for a moment.
           “I wish for what I’ve always wished for. Ever since the first time you wanted to celebrate my birthday with me. I wish for you,” he said. He opened his eyes, the steel blue irises my icy blue ones, awaiting my reply.
           “Consider you wish granted. I’m yours. I always have been,” he smiled and leaned in for another kiss, his other hand tangling in my hair.
           “Good, because I refuse to live without your love. Calleigh I love you,” he confessed.
           “I love you too, Bucky,” I said, accepting a lifetime with Bucky Barnes.
