Hello so I saw your doing matchup so I thought that I’d do it for fun. (Also please ignore any spelling mistakes English is not my first language)
So I was hoping this could be for Tokyo Revengers and blue lock ( if you could only do one then you can just do Tokyo Revengers)
Name: Kyo (not my actual name just a nickname because of social media sorry)
Pronoun: she/her
Sexuality: bisexual and to me either one works but I have a preference for boys
Likes: I enjoy listening to music, especially when I’m doing housework or homework. I enjoy reading. I guess playing videogames, like genshin. I also like baking
Dislikes: thunder or a big storm, idk why but it scares me. I also hate when people tell me a spoiler, I don’t really mind them but If my friend tells me my favorite character dies, I kinda lose interest in that thing.
Free time: playing games and baking.
Aesthetic: I honestly don’t know. I guess acubi/ old money style. More towards acubi
Appearance: 5’11, brown hair with money pieces, brown eyes, very small scar on skin due to my dogs
Personality: I guess like quiet and closed off. Like I don’t talk to people unless I have to or they’re close to me. I’m also like really shy.
Mbti: INTJ
Dream present: idk, I’m not that picky but like something that would come with a lot of thought behind it. Like a necklace with a picture in it. Those kinds of things
Love language: acts of service and quality time.
Also I’m a Capricorn
That’s pretty much it, again sorry if something is spelt wrong. And please take your time with this, I don’t have any rush. 🩷
— matchup —
if you'd like a matchup too, read this! link
i match you with...
Mitsuya Takashi!
★ Mitsuya, as we all know is really into fashion. i think he'd love both acubi and old money styles! they seem so elegant, and i think he's a fan of elegant, in a way
★ he doesn't mind that you're shy! he's a gentleman, he knows what to say/do. he'll try to make you comfortable always!
★ he wants to know all about your interests and will likely engage in them too. lend him your favourite book, show him some recipes, explain the plot of the game, he'll remember it all and do his own additional research too!
★ Mitsuya would give the best gifts, believe me! All of his presents are well thought of, he knows what you like and dislike very well. every gift is super special and one of a kind. probably handmade too
★ i think he genuinely likes doing house chores, and would love if you asked for his help with cleaning etc. (when you don't live together)
i match you with...
Chigiri Hyoma!
★ he's also a capricorn and that makes me think you two would get along well!
★ i have a feeling he'll totally love acubi style, Chigiri himself has a good sense of fashion
★ i see Chigiri as one of the.. calmer ones in Blue Lock. that's why i believe you could feel comfortable around him; he wouldn't want to pressure you to talk to others when you don't feel like it. he understands it
★ he loves your quality time! just the two of you, somewhere calm with nobody to disturb, nice music and some peace away from others. preferably doing skin care together, that would be his favourite lol
★ if there's a storm, he'll always comfort you. he won't ask any questions, nor will he judge. just comfort. and when you two are away from each other when the storm starts, he always calls you to ask if you're okay and if possible, he'll come over so that you don't have to be alone:3
hello, here is your matchup, i hope you like it<3 thank you for requesting!

The maid and the Cat, Ren and Akira: some musings
What gloomy love brightened the half-lives of the Sohmas’ most Cursed ones?
I often wonder what the relationship between the former Cat and his attendant would have looked like, twisted and sad as it must have been. Precious little is shown about those two, and only through Kazuma’s pov. We know she took care of and pitied the Cat, to the point that she even slept with him and bore his child. This is not unlike Kureno’s relationship with Akito. She might have treated him with the same kindness and devotion, distant, perhaps harmful, yet selfless.
Selfless? I think another way to extrapolate on the story of Kazuma’s grandparents is with Ren and Akira’s relationship.
Many great meta writers have already pointed out that those who fill in the positions at the extremes of the Sohma hierarchy, the Cat and God, or in this case the Cat and the idolized, deified family head, are foils to each other and are the ones that are dehumanized and isolated the most.
But now I think that you can also compare the way the previous Cat and Akira both chose ("chose" being a relative term in the case of the Cat) a romantic partner.
(Akira wasn’t God, but as the family head, he was worshipped just like Akito. His sickness also contributed to making him stand apart. Not only was he kept inside the compound because of his frailty, the hold that death had on him blessed him with this ephemeral, divine aura. “Was it the sorrow that befell him at such a young age that gave him that otherworldly beauty?»)
Both Kazuma’s grandfather and Akito’s father were doomed, Akira to die an early death, Kazuma’s grandfather to live the life of a living dead. Both were buried alive in the Sohma estate, either at the outskirts or at the center of it.
Both reached out to their progeny. (But Kazuma rejected the offered cake, and will endeavour to atone and honour his grandfather’s memory. Akito clung to every memento she had of her father and will need to learn to let go of him.)
And both the previous Cat and Akira found some measure of comfort in the affections and arms of their female caretakers, Sohma servants who saw their loneliness and expressed their compassion, though not in a particularly healthy way: Kazuma’s grandmother acting out of pity, Ren out of obsessive love.
It’s interesting to me how their respective position was reflected in their partners’ feelings : the imprisoned, despised Cat, Kazuma’s grandmother looked down on. The respected, otherworldly beautiful Akira was adored by Ren.
Kazuma sums up his grandparents’ relationship thusly:
Those correspond to the main "duties" that a wife is traditionally supposed to provide her husband.
The day-to-day caring.
Childbearing.
Attending their husband’s deathbed.
Obviously Ren wished she could have skipped the second one and be there for the last one. (I headcanon that she had prepared her last words years in advance, finding small pleasures and comfort, on the back of the wave of despair anticipating Akira’s death, in rehearsing the declarations of passionate love she would address to the dying man.)
The Cat’s companion attended her partner’s deathbed, seemingly very composed, even cold, as seen in Kazuma’s memories, while Ren, deprived of her husband’s last moments, that she felt were “stolen” from her by Akito (in reality by the maids :@), was mad with grief.
"The only one who can save him"
Those parallels make me wonder whether or not the Cat’s companion might not have developed a saviour complex, like Ren, both believing that they were the only one able to save this lonely, condemned person they were taking care of, and relishing it.
“I love you” vs "I pity you"
On Ren’s side though, it seems that she believes she truly saw Akira, as the person hiding behind that otherworldly aura, filled with sadness and fearful of death. Seeing that Akira agrees with her ("Ren noticed I was lonely"), fought against the Sohma leaders and regretted on his deathbed that he and Ren couldn’t reconcile, I believe this is not a delusion of hers. Her love was genuine and passionate, and she and Akira were happy. Unfortunately, that happiness didn’t survive her pregnancy, for she was also jealous and obsessed.
Kazuma supposes that his grandmother believed that she was doing something good. I wonder at her expression. It is shadowed, enigmatic. Is it a smirk or not, is she sad or not? i wonder whether she was selfless in her pity, like Kureno, or selfish like Kagura, perhaps feeling better by «sacrificing» herself in associating with the Cat for the sake of a miserable soul.
(Whatever you can say or imagine about her, Kazuma doesn’t seem to suffer from the stigma of being the Cat’s grandson, nor does he bear any trace of an abusive upbringing - in fact, he was among those doing the abusing - or even the echoes of the previous generation’s, so my guess is that she was an okay mother and grandmother... which would have made Kazuma’s disappointment and hurt at her words all the sharper... Like Tohru thinking of the zodiacs members she finds so kind and adorable secretly looking down on someone else she realizes she cares about more than she thought.)
There is no way to know how the Cat reacted to a pity-love. But considering Kureno and Akito’s relationship, this might also have been but a superficial balm, and potentially just as hurtful. Then it depends on the interpretation. Kureno’s pity cocooned Akito and kept her from moving forward, but the Cat was condemned anyway to an eternity of imprisonment. Moving forward was forbidden to him. And if his self-worth was already completely destroyed as his role and his treatment are meant to do, he might have just felt grateful towards the attendant. There’s no way to say for sure whether he would have been hurt or not by the truth, and I don’t know which option is the saddest!
... but I know what could be sadder. Because is the maid entirely to blame? We know that in Fruits Basket, love requires a measure of selfishness. The one cursed with the Cat has no self, no existence, no wants and no future, and they accept this fate. They believe they deserve it. (Which is why the Cat's Room doesn't need bars in the manga, nor locks. Rin was under lock and keys because either Akito didn't completely trust her to keep her word or she didn't want someone to discover her.)
It would be very difficult for someone to fall in love with a person who has renounced to everything, perhaps including love. Because who's to say that the Cat loved the maid too?
Recognition vs indifference
How depressingly fitting that we don't even learn the Cat's name, while Akira’s is remembered by all and echoes back and forth in the later part of the story.
Ren marrying the Sohma family head was such a big political deal it provoked a family schism. The Cat’s story with the maid gets completely ignored. It is probably known, just not "officially recognized", says Kazuma. Like everything related to the Cat, it was relegated to the back of the minds, in the dusty closet of the things that are uncomfortable to think about but that you tolerate if it doesn’t upend your little world-view. Ugh, some maid is being inappropriate with that monster! Well, as long as she doesn’t free the loathsome creature, who cares. (And she wouldn’t, because she’s no Tohru.)
In contrast, the maids of the main family thought that Ren was stealing Akira from their grasp. Ren didn’t seem to care for the family, and in a way, her love allowed Akira to also escape from them, "snatched away" by "that woman”, for the old attendant. Unlike the Cat’s attendant, Ren felt like a threat to the Sohma strict hierarchical system. (Fortunately, God will be born to bring back the right order of things, phew! Certainly she he will accomplish what Akira-san was momentarily too misguided to do and rid us of that woman!)
Inheritance.
Both women's profession of their true feelings deeply marked their progeny and the way they view relationship, whether personal or not, romantic or filial.
While her mother affirmed that "a woman only needs one man", Akito leaned on the love of the zodiacs ; Kazuma viewed and loved Kyo as a human and dreaded that his son would find himself in the same situation as his grandfather but also with the same kind of companionship. (His reaction to Kagura speaks of a long-held anxiety). But Ren's hatred for Akito coloured the way Akito interpreted her words, while Kazuma’s grandmother’s declaration shook Kazuma, his personal relationship with his grandmother notwithstanding.
This comparison isn't about good or evil, neither to judge those characters. Furuba isn’t about that. Obviously, they are not blameless. But it is very difficult to say whether or not Kazuma’s grandmother was wrong to act out of pity if it provided a bit of comfort to a prisoner. And is it surprising that Ren developed this saviour’s complex when it seems she was the only one willing to breach Akira’s isolation bubble?
Anyway, Takaya-sensei is really good at making foils. Either because she does it on purpose or because her characters are so deeply intertwined with the themes of the series the parallels appear on their own. But in this case, I don’t think it’s for nothing that the chapters recounting Ren and the Cat’s attendant stories follow each other (chapters 114 and 115).
Of course, this meta is less an analysis and more suppositions and conjectures (frankly, I wonder if I might not as well have written a fanfic). From the little we see, the Cat’s companion and Ren work as distorted yin-yang mirrors, their differences highlighting the similarities of their situations, from the ugly effects of the inner workings of the Sohma cult to the messed up inner workings of the heart. Genuine but obsessed, jealous love... Pity, perhaps self-serving, in the guise of martyred love.... One thing I can say for sure is that these two both gave me chills in their own way.

Please don’t argue over whether Yuki or Kyo had a worse upbringing
Because that’s literally missing the entire point of the story, that people may experience different traumas and are able to heal at their own pace. Don’t presume that someone else has it better, like these two boys did with each other, because you don’t know their story. Kyo and Yuki’s backstories are written to be foils for each other.
Social Status
Kyo is an ostracized outsider that the Sohma clan hates, while Yuki is the celebrated Rat boy who is God’s favorite. They’re both gossiped about but one is pitied and the other envied. Yuki and Kyo’s roles in the Sohma clan are “winner” and “loser”, respectively. The Sohma’s believe that life is a competition where people are judged against each other, and the winner is happier and more worthy than the loser.
Kyo is seen as less-than-human - the Monster, while Yuki is seen as more-than-human - the Prince! Kyo is beneath everyone and deserves to serve a life sentence, while Yuki is put on a pedestal. Both positions are dehumanizing and lonely. The other zodiacs socialized with Kyo because his inferiority makes them feel better about their own sorry circumstances - as explained by Kagura in S02E11. They don’t socialize with Yuki because he’s above them, at the right hand of God.
Kyo naturally socializes with people but is inferior in every visible accomplishment compared to Yuki. Yuki outcompetes Kyo in every competition that Kyo initiates, including swimming, martial arts, running. etc. On the other hand, even though Yuki is considered more naturally talented and accomplished in every measure, but doesn’t know how to socialize. It's degrading to be at the bottom and it's lonely to be at the top.
Family
These poor boys both experienced horrific trauma from their parents as a direct consequence of the above mentioned assigned social statuses. Kyo’s biological parents are pained by his birth and have said that they wish he had never been born. Yuki’s parents were greatly rewarded for giving birth to the Rat. Even though their birth had opposite effects on their parents’ social status within the Sohma clan, both sets of parents abandoned their sons. That being said, Kyo and Yuki were abused and abandoned in very different ways. Kyo is considered a monster which lowers his parent's status. His mom confined Kyo to their home, ashamed and afraid to let anyone else see Kyo. Yuki raises his parent's status, so his parents give him away to Akito and refuses to let him return home.
Both Yuki and Kyo's parents told their sons that they have no inherent value as people, that they are hated by everyone else and that no one will accept them for who they are. Kyo was told that no one will accept his monster form, first implied by his mom’s actions every day for the first few years of his life, and then tragically proven when Kagura ran away from his True Form.
Yuki is told that he’s worthless since his only value comes from a bond with Akito - Akito is the true source of worth here. Yuki’s parents tells him that he has no inherent value as a person, only as a tool for social status and wealth. Kyo’s mother chose death over raising him and his biological father wishes Kyo’s death and life-long punishment. Yuki’s parents abandoned him with apathy. Kyo’s mother lied to him that she loved and accepted him for who he was. Yuki’s mother was truthful and never acted as though she loved him.
After Kyo’s and Yuki’s abandonment by their biological parents due to opposite reasons, their experiences under their new caretakers diverged even more. Kyo was undesirable and publicly abandoned by his parents. Kazuma became Kyo’s new caretaker, initially out of pity. Yuki, however, was desired - but by a malicious family head who wanted to assert control over him. Yuki’s parents “desired” him - albeit only for personal material gains - and hence emotionally and physically abandoned him, but never officially. Publicly, his mother still drove him to school and took him to New Years banquets. Kyo’s new caretaker grew to love Kyo like a son and gave him unconditional parental support and love. However, Kyo’ was never able to fully connect and bond with Kazuma because he’s continually told by the Sohma’s that he’s undeserving of love (until Tohru, that is). Even though Kazuma and Kyo loved each other like father and son, Kyo doubted their relationship because everyone else whispers that Shisho only took in Kyo for the money or out of pity. Yuki, on the other hand, was left to Akito's whims. As we know, Akito made Yuki's life a living hell. Kyo received hate then love that he wasn’t able to trust that it was real, while Yuki received complete apathy and then hate.
Kyo mattered immensely to his parents and they in turn had immense impacts on his life. Kyo’s biological father tells his son that his life is ruined by Kyo and that Kyo drove his mother to suicide. Kyo’s mother loved him in a tragic flawed way and chose to kill herself in front of him. Akito says that Kyo’s mother wrote in her suicide note that she wished that she had given birth to the Rat instead of the Cat.
Toxic Competition
Because Yuki and Kyo had experienced opposite reasoning behind their trauma, they each look to the other for what they don’t have but long to have. The Sohma clan pits them against each other, represented by Kyo’s bet with Akito to win against Yuki. They pit themselves against each other - Kyo envying Yuki for receiving public admiration, while Yuki envies Kyo for connecting easily with others. Yuki compares himself with Kakeru and thinks "I instantly compare myself to others and almost lose myself to how inferior I feel." Their schoolmates pit them against each other - Kakeru explicitly asking Yuki whether Yuki’s simply accepting defeat in a competition to win Tohru’s affections, and saying that Kyo looks happier. The classic story tropes pits them against each other - we were led on by Takaya to believe that the main trio will develop into a typical love triangle. The narrative of Kyo and Yuki competing for Tohru’s is questioned by Yuki and then wholly subverted when Yuki reveals his true feelings towards Tohru.
Fruits Basket’s love triangle subversion tells us very clearly that comparing people’s worth and happiness is toxic and destructive. When Kakeru suggested that Kyo seems happier because he seems to be winning a love competition between Yuki and Kyo, Yuki angrily asks “does it make you happy? Putting happiness on a scale and comparing people, and deciding their relative merits, is it fun to judge these things?” Kakeru apologizes and readily admits that his questions were asked without emphasizing with other people's perspectives. He doesn’t know anything about Yuki and Kyo’s relationships with Tohru, much less about Yuki and Kyo’s relative happiness. Like Kakeru, we the readers expect a love competition only to discover that both boys have beautiful intimate relationships with Tohru. The relationships are different types, one romantic and the other familial/platonic, but neither of them are deemed to be more significant than the other by the story.
This post got so long because I see fans failing to grasp the hypocrisy against the story’s message. I see people saying that Yuki deserved to be with Tohru because he was nicer to her at the beginning. Yuki is a better human than Kyo because he’s nice to everyone. Kyo’s had it worse because he has to contend with a monstrous form. Yuki’s had it worse because his childhood was lonelier. In other words, who’s more deserving? Who should we root for? In comparing Yuki and Kyo like this, we’re acting out all the toxic messages that the story is warning us against.
Don’t judge and compare other people’s happiness and merits. Life is not a competition. It’s okay to progress at your pace, when you are ready. The same message by extension applies to Yuki and Kyo’s past traumas as well. They both had traumatic upbringings and formed their own coping mechanisms in response. Neither of them are better human beings than the other. Neither of them are somehow more “worthy” of Tohru’s love than the other. Both Yuki and Kyo had never felt accepted for who they were until Tohru. Since Yuki’s the first one to start healing from his trauma, he grows enough to recognize that he was wrong to envy Kyo. Yuki’s not better for healing earlier than Kyo, their character progressions make perfect sense given their personal circumstances.
We’ve all been taught the destructive mindset of comparing people against each other. It comes to us easily because it’s entrenched in our society, just like how it’s entrenched in the Sohma clan. I want us Fruits Basket fans to be more self-aware about this toxic system of thinking, because the story wants us to be better.

♡ Realizing you’re growing up [hcs]
- ✎ characters ❝ iwaizumi, oikawa, and ushijima ❞
- [ trigger warning(s): none other than maybe one curse word ]
- ⚘ genre ❝ fluff, angst (i suppose it’s more bittersweet than angsty) ❞
❝ dedicated to some wonderful third years... σ(≧ ~ ≦ o) ❞
-kyo ♡
It hit you the moment he began looking at colleges. Watching over his shoulder as he gathered information on what he might want to do in the next coming months, because this was it. Your last year of high school, and the beginning of your adulthood.
And you don’t know when, but eventually it begins to settle in for him too. Maybe it’s the fact that he’s considering leaving Japan, or the fact that he realizes that the school year was coming to an end, but the feeling lingers in the air as it strikes him that he really is almost an adult.
After the epiphany he keeps you close, shyly holding you more because you can both feel it slipping despite still being young.
And you’re right, because one day at lunch with just the two of you Oikawa was probably off doing who knows what he blurts it out, the look in his eyes almost guilty.
“I decided I want to go to Irvine California to study sports science- and hopefully, work with Takashi Utsui…”
The words set a pit in your stomach, your appetite suddenly lost as you look up at Iwaizumi who awaits what you have to say. So you try your best to muster the biggest smile you can, grasping his hand and placing a kiss to his knuckles which send a flare of red to his cheeks.
“Hajime, if that’s what you want to do with your life then who am I to stop you?”
“How did I ever get so lucky to have found someone like you y/n…”
His eyes are shining with happiness as he pulls you into a warm hug, despite being a boy with rough edges, Iwaizumi is incredibly gentle when it comes to showing you affection. He’ll litter your skin in soft butterfly kisses as his heart flutters with joy.
But it only lasts a moment as the conclusion he tried so hard to avoid comes to mind, easily overwhelming his heart.
“So this means…”
“Please don’t say it Haji, I know…”
“y/n…”
A silence falls over the two of you as you lay in each other’s arms, basking in the warmth of one another as you try to remember every detail of this feeling of unconditional love.
“I change my mind- I can’t leave you…”
“Hajime, no… Don’t give up what you want to do just for me, I refuse to hold you back.”
“So then what are we gonna do?”
“-I don’t know.”
Every moment from here on is precious. He holds onto it so tightly with every sundown and sunrise, never once staying away from you too long in fear that you’d slip through his fingers without him even noticing.
He begins to ease up on Oikawa too, his insults and attacks becoming less harmful as he recognizes that these may be the last in person interactions he has with his best friend for a long while- especially since Oikawa plans on leaving the country too.
Everything is moving so fast, it felt like just yesterday he and Oikawa entered the Aoba Johsai gymnasium, introducing themselves as first years, and stating their dreams of going to nationals.
But the blindfold is slowly lifted as he glances around the airport, his grip on your hand tight as his thumb caresses your skin. This is it… The gate to adulthood.
“I’m going to miss you y/n- you too Trashykawa.”
“Wow Iwa-chan i’m touched.”
“Don’t worry about us Hajime.”
He can’t help it though, as he gazes at both you and Oikawa with the most loving eyes, even if it did look like he was glaring at the two of you from someone else’s perspective.
“Hey… Thank you, for the past few years. They were truly something special.”
“Don’t get sappy on me now Iwa-chan! *THWACK* Owie...”
His attention turns to you, as he takes a step forward. His lips place a gentle kiss on your own.
“They say that if it’s meant to be that it will happen. I love you y/n, and I always will, no matter what, and there’s no doubt in my heart that we’ll be okay.”
“Hajime… I love you too. You’ll always be the one I love the most no matter what.”
He gives you one last peck to your forehead before turning back to his luggage.
Your stomach sinks as you watch him leave… Growing up is learning how to let go, but that doesn’t mean it’s easy.
“Ew… Tooru, you’re getting snot everywhere.”
As the ball bounces off of Oikawa’s arms before dropping to the floor, you feel your heart drop. Your body tensing as the gymnasium suddenly falls quiet. The daunting sound of the ball bouncing across the wooden floor echoing throughout the silent space before the sudden roar of cheers erupt from the stands and the opposing team.
The memory plays in your head, repeating over and over, even as you hold his hand walking side by side surrounded by his boisterous teammates. The mood is light, but your heart is heavy as you walk with the other third years. Nevertheless you try, putting on your brightest smile for the younger members.
However despite all of your efforts you can see it in their eyes- they know, but even so they don’t pry, even as you and the rest of the third years depart.
Oikawa’s grip on your hand tightens once it’s just the third years, the tension in his hold doesn’t go unnoticed by you as you gently squeeze back.
He and Iwaizumi bicker as usual, something you’d miss seeing on a daily despite the fact that it annoyed you to no end, and judging by the looks in Matsun’s and Maki’s eyes, they’d agree, watching nonchalantly as Iwaizumi easily throws your boyfriend from your grasp.
“What are they competing about?”
“The usual.”
“I guess that’s what happens when you’re dumb…”
“So mean y/n-chan!”
“Oi you better watch it!”
And despite the heavy feeling in your heart, you laugh wholeheartedly as Iwaizumi playfully glares at the three of you or at least you assumed he was being playful
The group comes to a stop, the surrounding all too familiar, from the building, the landscape… Your precious memories are stored here in this one building that in your first year you’d call hell.
“Weren’t we heading home?”
“I think… In a way we are home Matsun..”
No one could agree with you more. Over the past three years this building, the gym, and the people within it have become your home.
The boys, having decided to play for a while, set up the court. The familiar sound of shoes squeaking against the flooring fills the gym as all the third years scurry about.
“Shit, the ramen, I’m gonna puke.”
“You guys are like children...((( ̄へ ̄井)”
“Haha”
“Especially you Tooru.”
“y/n-channn ‧º·(˚ ˃̣̣̥⌓˂̣̣̥ )‧º·˚”
But just like your time here, their session draws to an end as the sun disappears beyond the horizon. They begin cleaning up everything they set out, and as Oikawa jogs up to you for his water bottle you can see it in his eyes, he felt it too…
“Go easy on them Tooru.”
With a gentle kiss to your forehead he nods, quickly taking a sip of his water before turning back to his team.
“Everyone… Can I have your attention for a sec?”
Maki seems to notice the sullen look on your face as he quickly holds his hand out.
“Oi! Knock it off! We’re going out of our way to finish things on a high note, let’s just end this peacefully- “
“Shut up!- Thank you! For the past three years.”
His words begin to sink in, the atmosphere all of you tried so hard to put up suddenly comes crumbling down as Oikawa’s shoulder’s begin to shake, tears streaming down his face. The quiet sobs of the third years following suit along with your own as you watch them from a distance… This was it.
Even as you say your heartfelt goodbyes, despite seeing each other in the morning tomorrow, you can’t help but feel your heart clench. Especially as you and Oikawa bid Iwaizumi a goodnight, leaving just the two of you alone.
“I told you to take it easy on them Tooru.”
But he knows that it was more meant for you than anyone else as he brings you into an embrace, his grip tight as he buries his face in the crook of your neck. The worries of the future suddenly lifting at his touch.
“No matter what happens in the future y/n… My heart will always follow you.”
“I love you Oikawa Tooru.”
“I love you too.”
The end doesn’t always mean goodbye…
After years of hard work and development you watch from the sidelines as the last practice draws to a close.
Third years standing apart from the first and second years as they say their final words of encouragement. And it begins to sink in for you that this really is it. Shiratorizawa, your home since Junior High would no longer be yours after this year.
And to think, that at the end of your journey here, someone else's begins. The feeling is bittersweet as you say your goodbyes, a pang to your heart as you watch Goshiki cry once more.
You knew this day would come eventually, after all moments like this always come to an end. It’s made painfully clear as you glance around Ushijima’s dorm room. He had always been clean, but the sight of boxes and the bare walls make you uneasy, there are no traces of Tendou’s knick knacks, no doodles on the desks from when either you or the redhead get bored.
It’s almost like no one was ever here, as if some of your most precious memories didn’t make a mark in this tiny room.
Your mind is racing, jumping between past memories and the unknown future. The thought keeps you awake into the late hours of the night, and not even the soothing warmth of the boy next to you can set you at ease.
Ushijima is a light sleeper, it’s been that way since he was a boy, so despite the fact that you are not particularly loud the mere shift of restless movement from you has his dark olive eyes groggily opening. His face is ever so stoic, but his eyes gleam in concern as he looks at you.
He was never one for much affection, even in the confinements of his own room, but nonetheless he embraces your body, pulling you close as he rests his face against the top of your head.
“What’s wrong?”
And for a moment you find it hard to speak, your voice caught in your throat despite his gentle thoughtful touches
“Toshi… Do you ever think of growing up? Or the fact that our time at Shiratorizawa is coming to an end?”
Once again silence falls between the two of you. The only sound being that of Tendou’s soft snores from the top bunk.
“It’s a natural process of life y/n. Everyone grows up.”
“But it’ll be so different don’t you think? We’re going to be adults…This place will only be a distant memory.”
An unfamiliar feeling of worry engulfs your being.
“This won’t be our home anymore…”
Ushijima’s hold suddenly tightens, it’s hardly noticeable, hidden by the darkness of the room, but his eyes soften.
“y/n you are my home, just as I am yours. I will always be here.”
His words bring a sense of peace to your heart, they are fleeting and short, but they linger with you throughout the night, blooming with warmth as he holds you close. He has always been a constant in your life, and a constant he will remain.
“Thank you Toshi…I love you”
You almost miss it, the faint whisper of his voice
“I love you too y/n”
Perhaps everything will be alright… Growing up means starting new chapters, not tearing out old ones.

1:03am
It hadn’t been a long night so far, but you knew that was about to change. You and your long time friend group had rented a house for the next few days- as a means to get away from your work and school lives for a little vacation. Amongst the seven of you, Tanaka, your long time crush from high school, was also there.
After getting settled in, you all had come to the realization that it was getting pretty late, it was your first night in the house, so going on wasn’t the best idea- especially given that it was nearing 1 in the morning and it was snowing outside.
You’d all settled on playing a game of truth or dare, much like your group used to do when you were younger and all hung out.
A few pizzas and other snacks were sat in various parts of the small living room, a few people with drinks in their hands and a couple bottles laying around ready to be opened. A few individuals sitting on the floor, one of your buddies laying upside down on the couch, one laying with their feet in the air on the floor, and another sitting normally on the couch cushions tucked into a blanket- in all your respective places. It really reminded you of the good old days with your friends, and you found yourself smiling at how you guys truly never changed, even when life around you all did.
About an hour into the game, a spin of the bottle in the middle of your circle decided it was your turn to suffer through whatever your friends wanted you to endure. You knew they cared about you dearly and would never force you to do anything that would harm you, but the fun of the game was coming up with outrageous ideas, so you knew what to expect from previous rounds.
You replayed the comforting message in your head over and over until your best friend decided on their dare for you. You nearly choked on your drink upon hearing it.
“Jump in the pool, right now.”
A round of laughter spilled from the circle, and you couldn’t help but playfully remind them that it was the dead of night, winter, and snowing. They didn’t have much sympathy for you, since your best friend, the one who chose the house you’d be staying in, knew the temperature of the water could be changed in the pool, which is why it hadn’t frozen over despite the frigid temperature outside.
You pouted, not wanting to jump into the pool in your shorts and tshirt all while it was snowing outside- but you knew they wouldn’t give you time to change. An all too familiar voice rang through the air with laughter behind it as you began to fall backwards onto the floor with your arms spread- mumbling a complaint towards the ceiling about your choice of a dare over another truth.
“I’ll join you, it can’t be that bad! Come on, it’ll be fun!” Tanaka was always a sweetheart, and one of the reasons you’d fallen for him so long ago was because he was always considerate of others. He didn’t want you to go alone, especially since it was 1am and he also was in the unknown about the pools temperature changing. If you were gonna suffer, he decided he’d want in on all the fun. ;)
Making your way to the back door, he slid it open and the two of you were immediately bombarded with a bite of the cold air. Shivering already, you tossed aside anything you had on you that you didn’t want wet, Tanaka following suit, and padded your way across the worn wooden porch to examine where you’d be jumping momentarily.
The porch awning was adorned with warm colored string lights, and other than that the only light was from the glass windows and door attached to the house, and the color changing ones on the walls of the pool interior. You had to admit, it made for beautiful scenery- with the flurries of snow complimenting the environment around you. You mentally gave your best friend credit for finding such a little slice of heaven.
After closing the door behind the two of you, a few of your friends appeared behind the glass recording the scene about to unfold for future blackmail- probably when they wanted food but were too lazy to go get it themselves.
Amongst the few, your best friend slid a hand to the remote that lay dormant on the table, turning up the temperature to the pool. F/n knew of your crush on Tanaka, but they didn’t tell you of their plan to get you two alone together.
“On three?” The bald boy asked, grabbing your hand in his proportionally much larger one and nodding his head to the side. He could see your shivering, but he had taken note of the steam beginning to arise from the water.
“Yeah, sure, you count!” You rushed, gripping his hand tightly, maybe it wasn’t only because you were cold, but also that you needed to get this dare over with or else you just knew you’d say something embarrassing around the cute boy.
On a count of three, you both jumped into the pool, and after the initial shock of the spontaneity from the situation, you rose above the warm water, shaking the water off of your face and rubbing your eyes. Tanaka smiled brightly at you, both slightly panting, the two of you laughing together and basking in the situations entertainment.
The cold breeze nipped at your exposed body, your tshirt clinging to you and beginning to freeze. You sank back down into the steamy water, and watched with brightly entertained eyes as Tanaka began his usual chaotic tendencies- flinging off his shirt and splashing around in the water, hoping out of the pool just to dive back in before popping up nearer to you and laughing so loud you swore it could be heard inside the house.
“Let’s hang out here for a while, we’ve been playing for so long, and the waters warm.” He suggested, he looked so hopeful and excited, he linked his hand with yours once again and pulled you into the middle of the water upon the nod of your head. Giving a small wave to your friends behind the glass, they all went back to the living room to continue their game, leaving you two alone.
After a few more minutes of swimming around, jumping into the water, and general fun with Tanaka, a moment of stillness and quiet had spread over you two- the only noises being the sloshing of water and muffled laughter coming from the house. It all added to the ambiance, and you found yourself smiling brightly while looking up at the sky- the dark sky that made the moon look so much brighter than it did in the busy city, and the stars that looked like you could reach up and grab them with how bright they were.
You were so busy admiring the sky, the voice next to you startled you out of your little daydream.
“Ya know, I’m already really enjoying this trip. And I hardly ever get all sentimental, but it’s just too beautiful out not to right now.” You smiled at the boy, the colorful pool lights complimenting his features, and agreeing with his comment about the sky, but while you were back staring at the stars and the moon, he wasn’t exactly sure you knew what he was talking about.
“Y/n, I need to tell you something that I’ve been putting off for a while now. I don’t know how you’ll react to this, but just hear me out, okay?” He warily began, his eyes held a fear but hopefulness as well, and you couldn’t quite place what he was thinking, but a pit in your stomach grew nonetheless.
A nod of your head signaling him to continue, he found himself looking anywhere but you while he uncharacteristically mumbled his words, “I’ve liked you since high school, and I was always scared to tell you because I didn’t think you felt the same way. This trip gave me the opportunity to confess in a way that wouldn’t be so stressful, with life not being able to get in the way, but now that I think about it,, if you don’t feel the same way it could be even more stressful cause you’re gonna be stuck with me for the next few days- dammit, I didn’t mean to—“ he began to outwardly worry and fidget as the words kept spilling from his lips, until you interrupted his sentence by pulling him into a tight embrace.
“I’ve always felt that way for you, Tanaka. I always thought you were set on winning over Shimizu, so I kinda gave up on the idea of ever confessing to you. But I’m so happy you told me.” You nuzzled into his shoulder with a grateful smile on your face, and he slowly went from shocked to overjoyed- hugging you back even tighter, his large arms squeezing you and his laughter once again ringing through the night.
“Holy shit, I was so scared there for a minute! But did you really not know how I felt about you? I slipped up like a year ago and told b/f/n how I felt about you, I figured they would’ve shared? And you don’t have to worry about Shimizu, she was kind of a cover up for you.” He sounded surprised but still laughed through his words. “Nope, I guess even if they had, my own insecurities would’ve made me overthink the whole thing, and they probably knew that, so they kept it a secret. Sure wish the little shit had told me now though.” You both laughed at your comment, exchanging a few more sarcastic ones, but after another minute, Tanaka laying his forehead on yours brought you back to reality.
It was silent but judging by the wide grin he had and closed eyes, he was content with holding you in his arms for however long you would let him.
You hadn’t planned for it to be such a long night, but as you were getting ready for bed later that night, the kiss on your forehead your long time crush now turned boyfriend left brought a wide smile to your face, and it all felt worth it- even if you knew you’d be dead tired in the morning.
What you didn’t know, was that your best friend had watched the last part of your romantic winter pool scene unfold, and was definitely super smug about their plan, unbeknownst to either of you, that had worked out perfectly.

Papa Bye-Bye!
Dad!Yahaba Shigeru
a/n: i know its a later update but i still made it, didn’t i?
Yahaba Shigeru:
"ʏᴏᴜ ᴅᴏɴ'ᴛ ᴋɴᴏᴡ ꜰᴇᴀʀ ᴜɴʟᴇꜱꜱ ʏᴏᴜ'ᴠᴇ ᴡᴀᴛᴄʜᴇᴅ ʏᴏᴜʀ ᴄʜɪʟᴅ ɢʀᴏᴡ ᴇᴀᴄʜ ᴅᴀʏ"
papa shiggie can’t believe his baby boys are already starting school
word count: 1.2K
(twins)
son: yahaba ryujin
son: yahaba raijin
shigeru was pacing back and forth in your living room while you were helping the twin boys get ready for their first day of school. even after the long talk full of reassurance from you, he still can’t help but feel worried not only for the safety of his boys but for the fact that they were doing his biggest fear: growing up.
it is no secret to everyone you knew and who knew you that your husband was absolutely smitten by his twins and it seems he breathed and lived everyday just to see them. despite you knowing he loved you, you can’t help but think that he loved his children more and to be honest, you can’t exactly blame him.
yahaba raijin and yahaba ryujin are the light of your lives.
not even a year into your marriage, you were already expecting and the surprise of having not only one, but two, doubled the shock. after many years of being together-having started the relationship at your second year-you knew shigeru’s desire of having children, more specifically, a son. so you can imagine his happiness inside the ob’s clinic after learning of the gender of his twins and let’s just say, you weren’t shocked when your husband fainted.
his still-round brown eyes settled on the picture frame on your corner table and if he wasn’t already crying, he was about to start now. the picture was of the 4 of you in the hospital room when the boys were born and the exhaustion was evident in both of your eyes. but it was such a happy and special day. a day that made him a father.
and he cannot believe 6 years has passed.
‘shiggie, can you help me look for ryu’s socks?’
you called from the bedroom upstairs and when he didn’t reply, you told the boys to stay still and peaked your head out of the door.
‘shigeru! darling!’
finally, shigeru jolted out of his reminiscing and he ran up the stairs and into the first bedroom on the right.
‘what-what’s wrong?’
he worriedly asked, thinking something happened, but you giggled.
‘oh, darling. you’re stressing yourself out. come, we can dress the boys together’
‘papa! papa! lookie!’
raijin’s loud voice, which he inherited from his father, pointed to his doggie-print socks and wiggled his toes to emphasize his excitement. shigeru got even more sad as those were the same socks that were gifted to him for his birthday by his godfather. speaking of which, their birthday is coming up in a few months.
‘they’re really nice, aren’t they, rai? should we take a picture and send it to uncle kenta?’
the little boy nodded excitedly at his father’s offer and proceeded to pose while his other half was being comforted by you.
‘mama, don’t wanna go. wanna stay here with rai and mama and papa’
judging by the shake of his voice, a sob was threatening to come out and you frantically cupped his chubby cheeks.
‘ryu, it’s okay. mama is right down the hall and if you miss papa, we can call him! he doesn’t have work today’
but that didn’t make him feel better and instead made him cry out.
‘noo!!!’
he sobbed and you met the eyes of your husband, who was now finished taking his pictures, and you passed off the crying boy. shigeru gently cradled his son and ran his hands through his silvery-brown hair to help calm him.
‘oi, ryu, why are you crying, hm? is it because you’re going to school? yeah, i understand it but school is really cool, you know? you can make new friends there and you’d still have rai with you’
‘eung! i’ll be with ryu! always! pinky promise! rai loves ryu!’
your youngest son, raijin, was the more outspoken one while his older-by-8-minutes-brother, ryujin, was the more timid and emotional one. this is why he is always the first to cry and easily bawls his eyes out but to counter him was his brother with his bright and outspoken personality. thankfully, ryu listens to rai and he instantly fades into hiccups by the simplest reassurance and a hug.
so ryu stopped his tears, left with only teary e/c eyes, and he looks over to rai, who was hugging you, before nodding.
‘ryu love rai, too’
he mumbled out and shigeru had to close his eyes before taking a deep breath so as to not scare his sons by his squeals.
you saw your husband contain himself so you hurriedly ushered everyone out to be able to get to school on time. of course, ryu moved sluggishly, as if he was trying to stay in the house longer, while rai was running around to grab his shoes and backpack and grabbing both of their lunch boxes from the island.
‘here ya go, ryu! want me to tie bunnies on your shoes?’
the older brother nodded shyly so rai hurriedly sat on the floor and started tying the shoelaces of the bright blue shoes.
you and your husband were standing off to the side by the door with a fond smile and warm hearts. your eyes looked up to his and you sadly chuckled before rubbing his arm.
‘they’re growing up aren’t they?’
he whispers and you stopped then nodded.
‘yes, they are, darling’
your words confirmed it and he sniffled to try to keep the tears at bay. he reached down to grab your hand and squeezed it for comfort.
‘i’m so scared. maybe it’s the thought of them eventually not needing me anymore or something but i’m terrified’
he admitted and you understood his fears because duh, they were your sons too.
‘you know, you used to make fun of kyo for crying when he sent off naomi and naoki to school but look at you now’
you tried to make him laugh and it kinda worked since he did giggle. then it settled for a sad smile.
‘he told me it was a unique type of feeling. a new type of fear. not the childish ones like spiders, or the dark, or sharks. no, it isn’t a fear that anybody can have unless they have their own children. no amount of spiders or sharks can equal this because you don’t know fear unless you’ve watched your child grow each day. every passing day was taken for granted until reality decides to throw it at your face’
oh, dear.
it’s been quite a while since you’ve heard him talk so earnestly and you remembered him talking like that during his last volleyball practice and him passing his title for captain to little kunimi akira.
it all revolved around the same topic: growing up.
so as shigeru drove you all to the kindergarten, he kept taking glances to the rearview mirror to simply watch rai giggling and ryu not being able to help but also laugh due to the infectious noise. it is a sound that shigeru loved.
you were beckoning the boys to follow you inside of the gates after saying your goodbyes to your husband and their father but ryu stopped. rai was already ahead but he also sensed that his twin wasn’t beside him so he stopped as well and backtracked back to him. the adorable shy child turned around and with teary eyes, he waved. shigeru’s own tears gathered but finally fell when rai held on to his brother’s other hand and waved to him too. however, he had a large grin showing off the lost front tooth.
‘papa, bye-bye!’
rai shouted and ryu nodded too.
‘pa, bye’
he tearfully added but shigeru could hear it, having developed a sensor for the voice of his soft-spoken son.
no, this isn’t a sad goodbye.
rather, it’s a joyous one.
because as much as shigeru hated watching his boys grow up, he was happy and excited to be able to see the great people his boys would become.

Hi! Hope you're doing well. In light of the final season of Fruits Basket airing soon, I wanted to bring up how the show unnecessarily overdramatizes events that in the manga are low-key or more realistic. I noticed one moment like this in the new trailer. Please don't judge the manga itself for such moments! If you're watching and think 'this is excessive' (Kyo sending Tohru flying, her nearly falling off the roof etc) then it probably is! The anime is too extra for its own good sometimes.
Hey buddy~ how’s it going with you? I’m doing okay, thanks for asking.
As for Furuba, unfortunately, this weird, over the top, exaggerated, unnecessarily over-dramatized, shockingly funny directing choices that takes you out from a serious, sad moment has become a trade mark to furuba..... sigh... I can never fully appreciate & re-watch se01, ep 24 without feeling cringey or laughing at Kyo sending Tohru flying instead of feeling for her & him. It is forever a weird wth moment, not a dramatically charged moment. Same as tohru’s weird electrical convulsions amidst her breakdown in one of the rarest “ tohru monologuing abt her own pain” in se02, ep 16. However, the anime has lots of good scenes, too, so, I’ll try to look beyond the bad ones. I’ll vent at the moment of them happening but move on. ( hopefully, they stick to one badly exaggerated scene per season, XD)
But don’t worry, I’ve come to understand that although the anime is marketed as “ following the manga” & might have many scenes that are copying the manga panels, it isn’t the same replica. There is no way a writer can write the fascinating complexity of charged emotions that is se02, ep, 9 & then write tohru weirdly flying. it simply doesn’t make sense. good writers do not want to take you out of the moment. they want you deeply immersed to the core, so that you feel for their characters.
So, although I haven’t even seen one page of the manga, I won’t judge it by its anime. Mangas are the artistic vision of one person. On the other hand, anime is a team work lead by a director who may want to look for a distinctive style to stand out.
I’m excited to see se03, ep 01 !! an anon told me it started airing already! looking forward to discussing character complexity with my lovely furuba friends. I’ve said it before, but I’ll say it again. Furuba fandom is so chill & welcoming! a rare occurrence in the emotionally charged atmosphere of fictional fandoms! thank you for all the relaxing moments together online <33
Thank you for the ask <33

ROCK AND READ 087 - interview with Kyo - part 2/3
part 1/3 here
- I see. This way, the more ignorant you are (as in less trained) the less restricted you are. The first time you had a performance together with the dance troupe Banyu Inryoku was in 2015. I think that the eccentric performance and the power of expression brought out a totally different heterogeneity.
京 That might be true. What kind of chemical reaction will we get by adding the performance of Banyu Inryoku to sukekiyo’s worldview? Me myself also wanted to see that. I keep thinking that it’s fascinating to see as various chemical reactions occur, now becomes very different every moment. For us it becomes super exciting like ‘let’s see what will come out of this!’. It’s not fun to be able to see the complete form [from the beginning]. It’s more like 'it became like this when I thought it will be like that, and then …’
- I think by wanting to enjoy the surprise of what will come out you’re very genuine.
京 That’s why I’m not different from fans. I’m just not hoping for anything.
-Seeing the performance with dance elements incorporated in, you really get to want to know everything about what kind of story is being shown, up to the last detail. And then the curiosity is stirred even more. Is this not something you’re after?
京 Even for this I don’t really think about the reaction of people to us doing something like that. We really just do what we want to do. Even if the story somehow gets a general framework, we deliberately try not to deliver the perfect answer. Wouldn’t it be boring to have only one answer? That’s why one can think about it in many ways, when we don’t give an answer deliberately it feels strangely hazy somehow. I don’t want that. The way of thinking and answers will vary depending on each person, what is seen as right and wrong also depends on the person. If someone thinks this way, this must be correct – this also changes with each person. We could say that to feel things naturally, what someone felt then is that person’s answer. That’s what I think is good. That’s why even though it wasn’t something I was after [originally], I’m glad when it becomes like this. I don’t think I’m always right, so I really just want people to feel [the performance] freely.
- Yet the feeling transmitted by sukekiyo is grief. You never go into a happy direction.
京 That’s the basis. I just can’t accept happiness. Why, I wonder this myself. I’d like to become happy.
- Just feel happy?
京 Yeah. But I just can’t. It’s just my personality. I just don’t have a big capacity to be glad for people’s happiness.
- You’re saying that as you’re laughing (laughing).
京 I just keep thinking that even if there’s someone looking always happy they must be carrying something awful [inside]. Well, I do at least think it would be nice if thing went well.
- I don’t think I’d invite someone who thinks this way to a wedding. You’re not [invited often] I guess?
京 Hahaha! Just no matter whose wedding it is I think that about 10 or 20% won’t be good. Sometimes we can see a wedding on TV. Okay, yeah, they look happy, but I start thinking they might be using something.
- We get the celebs news thrown at us all the time (laughing).
京 You know, I can’t go on if I don’t think like that. I think that people who are 100% happy are also 100% happy for others (being able to celebrate their weddings). But I’m not like that, I’m not able to do that (laughing). I don’t need to be seen as a good person. I’m this kind of person. It should be okay with one person being like that, right?
- But why is it a problem? At least you realize yourself that you can’t be happy for other people. There are people who can’t judge themselves [honestly] and avert eyes from their own character.
京 Yeah, there are. I do see them, I do. I see myself as a worthless person. I have worthless values/thoughts. I ask myself 'why do I …?’ My personality is 'why do I?’. That’s why when I’m talking with other people and I’m often told 'you must be having fun’, I don’t really think so. The reason for that are my worthless thoughts and being too insatiable. I have so many things I want to do, there are various things connected. I have this strong feeling of dread. I keep doing so much but I’m not satisfied. Even when at a time for a moment I think at last I made something good, the next day comes and it already feels hollow. That’s why not being content always feeds the feeling of lacking. Of course I think that the things I created are good, but I constantly feel that if they were done by someone else they would have ended much better. I really feel worthless. But everyone keeps thinking I have it all… in various ways. When I talk to the people in the office they tell me 'aren’t you in a much better place?’ but I can only see it as sarcasm.
- But from the viewpoint of other musicians, you’re doing some great things they wish they could do like having world tours or playing at festivals abroad. You don’t think it’s great?
京 Nope, not for me. It might seem great to someone wishing to do that, but I’m envious of people who only tour domestically. I don’t want to go abroad. My stance is, if foreign fans want to see us they should come here. It’s my worthless values, but why is it me who should go? That’s the abroad thing (laughing). I get it that people abroad want to see us, but in that case please come to Japan, why do I have to travel [instead of them]? I do not hate foreign people. There are just many problems [with going abroad].
- When you tour abroad I bet travel is stressful.
京 Travel too, but even before that, there’s an interview still in Japan when we go to get a visa. Even though I don’t really speak English I have to answer questions like 'how long will you be staying in the country?’ or 'what’s your occupation? What do you do?’ and so on. It’s unbelievably stressful.
- You say you can’t be content, but when you started in a band, you felt a joy from playing a show and satisfaction when a show got heated up.
京 We started from a place like that, yeah.
- Since when have you started to have this thought of not being satisfied?
京 I wonder. Until the time sukekiyo started I was only moving around inside the borders of music, but when I got out of it, when I thought anything is fine [as a form of expression], the world suddenly got really broad. That was huge for me. And, don’t we get stimulated by listening to various kinds of music? Like, ah there’s world like that too, huh. When looking at pictures, some make you feel many things. When touching those things, from that moment I started to hope that expression does not equal the skill. Because of thoughts of being worthless I didn’t draw or take photos, expressing myself by doing those things always felt very embarrassing. But [in the end] I couldn’t not do it. There are various people, no one is the same. If someone naturally creates something, draws naturally, if something is expressed freely, it will never be the same as other people’s. I started to think it’d be a good thing, when I accepted that I don’t need skills to do those things, the stopper inside of me just broke. The things I want to do increased greatly.
- You started to draw, take photos and also have hold solo exhibitions; you started to crave different forms of expression.
京 Yes. As it’s fine even if I’m not good at it. It’s simply me [in those works]. There are people who keep criticizing even amazing pictures, or some who would say 'I don’t know why but it’s good’, everyone is so different. Caring about it, starting from basics, learning from the very beginning, that’s not for me. I haven’t actually learnt singing or done any voice training. From the viewpoint of a teacher I provably lack foundations. But it’s not like I sing worrying about that. I just throw my feelings into it. Like, with many works it’s fine if I show myself, pack my feelings into them. By changing into this stance my world got broader.
- And at the same time the lack of satisfaction just grew stronger.
京 Exactly. The things I want to do are always swirling around in my mind, there are always many unpredictable things. When an idea comes to me I just do it. Even today when I went to the office, while waiting I was talking to the staff, I suddenly got an idea, just like 'let’s do it this way’. And like that we could proceed with 2~3 items. There are many situations like this. I really value the inspiration that comes then and there.
- With both sukekiyo and DIR EN GREY, the speed of your work as a vocalist is really terrifying
京 I don’t really compare things like that.
- The members often say that. Even when the details of the song arrangement are not decided yet, the vocal recording is already done and over.
京 Yeah, that’s true.
- So the information is right?
京 Nah, in my opinion I’m average. I don’t really check how fast other people work. It’s a basic thing, but I hate when someone’s late. I arrive 10 minutes early. I’m the type of person who wants to finish things as fast as possible and move on [with work]. It’s super rare that concert would start late because of me. Even encore, I just quickly change my make up and wait at the side of the stage. So even when you’re thinking we’re taking sweet time to come back on the stage it’s not me (laughing). And it’s not about speed, I just don’t like working on the things I want to do slowly. Everyone gets the same amount of time, but isn’t the time we have limited? Depending on how we use it our life from now on, what we’re able to do, everything will change. That’s why the time is so precious to me. Of course there’s also a type of people who create things after thinking for some time. I’m definitely not against them. But I’m the type who proceeds with ideas like …BAM! That’s how I do things, I’m not able to match the style of [carefully thinking] creators.
- But you do see that expressing the idea that just came to you as it is, there and then, will give it a higher quality shape?
京 That’s right. Actually by not being able to express the ideas that come to me I get really stressed. I would just keep thinking about them like 'I want to do this, want to do that’, not being able to think of anything else. Very stressful.
- I know that everyone gets the same amount of time, but long time ago, the top manager in sunkrad, Dynamite Tommy said 'Kyo-chan is a type who won’t be able to live very long’.
京 How mean (laughing).
- He saw that you’re someone who lives fast.
京 It’s true that I’m often told I live fast (and recklessly), but from my point of view everyone else is just slow (laughing). I’m normal. It’s not that I do things in a hurry, I do them normally, just that. From my point of view the people around me are just super slow. It’s a huge misunderstanding that I live fast.
- Usually the spreading of the music antenna (enjoying different genres and styles) gets worse as people age. But it seems that yours is just stringing up.
京 Nah, I don’t think so.
- I think the majority of people think that the music of their youth is the best, their views got wider for a time to get narrow again [as they got older].
京 Ah, I get what you want to say. Recently I really got into Madonna. I only started to listen to her music a few years ago. I didn’t like her that much before.
- You’re talking about her albums from the 80s not the current music?
京 Yeah, the old ones. The cheap sound of the 80s, I have it in my head. I made requests about that to the members. The cheap programming of that era, I really love it. I felt that as sukekiyo now we could somehow remake this feeling nicely. But it doesn’t feel like spreading the antenna. It also doesn’t feel like I listen to many different types of music as a study. It just feels like I’m living very naturally.

@autistic-council-spectre gonna make TWO separate posts so here we go round 1
Yuki from Fruits Basket! This should be a challenge since I’m. Still undecided on which SI I like more and want to develop. My Furuba lore is a mess
He’s a baby though look at him. Son material. Traumatized son material.
OKAY so I’ll talk about my normal human person SI Wendy. She’s me but I live in Japan and somehow got hired to work as tech support at the Sohma Estate? Akito was like That One that works for the outside Sohmas, that one is neat, bring her to me make her also support me.
ANYWAY! She spends a lot of time at Shigure’s place. It has happened a few too many times Kyo has gone off and obliterated the wifi and she has to come fix it and she just ends up hanging out with Shigure a bunch then. It’s a nice place to hang out.
So she also meets Yuki! She thinks Yuki is a really nice boy, but she absolutely can’t get him to open up. While he’s not totally closed off to her, before Tohru shows up he still retains a respectable emotional distance between them. He trusts her with some stuff, but not the heaviest stuff at all. He’s curious what she did to make Akito interested in her (let’s call it morbid curiosity) but he won’t ask directly. He worries about her for that reason though. She worries about him cause...well...he seems unhappy beneath the mask. But she’s not close enough to ask him about it.
I like to think that he might have a similar conversation with her as he does with Kakeru - a convo that helps him realize Tohru isn’t someone he has romantic affections for. A really embarrassing conversation but he knows Wendy won’t judge him. At this point she also opens up to talking to him about Hatori a bit. I wonder if he tells her what happened to Hatori, or if Shigure does...well, if Shigure didn’t, Yuki might.
Anyway like I said this is like not very well formulated right now fshjkasdkl but it’s HERE

something subtle i wanted to highlight about kyoru’s development that just.....*chef’s kiss*....perfectly done in fruits basket. it just captures early romantic growth so beautifully in such a nuanced way. amidst all the other adorable moments like the smiling! and the touching! and basically an unofficial date! there’s other signs that are amazing.
💖 kyo’s blatant staring at tohru is a surefire hint that she’s at the forefront of his mind this episode. with all the talk about the future, seeing kyo constantly around tohru physically and subconsciously staring at her is a deliberate tell.
💖 tohru’s changing feelings is a bit harder to peg down. both kyo and tohru struggle with being vulnerable about their own worries and demons. it’s a lot more obvious with kyo but he’s had some major growth in this area with tohru last season. what i loved the most about the second half of this episode is how not only kyo is able to pinpoint tohru’s vulnerabilities (much like she did his own last season with his true form), tohru is in shambles that he’s able to do it so effortlessly.
💖 while tohru is an extremely sensitive character that is attuned to her emotions along with others--she’s extremely careful about what parts of her she shows. kyo not only being able to understand her emotions but make her feel safe enough to show them is huge for tohru. kyo rightly points out that he’s used to her crying, but what is left unsaid is why she’s crying. he indirectly showed her that it’s okay to feel like shit sometimes and to be honest about it too. and hell, she can depend on the fact that he won’t judge her for it.

Okay I’m going to rant because I’m heated and maybe I shouldn’t be writing this because I’m already having a really bad day and I don’t want to come off like a bitch but oml idgaf.
Why and how the fuck is Kyo being called abusive?! Like I think I’m just so taken aback by it because I never expected him to be labeled as an abuser. If anything, I thought the true form arc was going to positively make the viewers understand him more. I’m just so confused and disappointed.
Because he accidentally hit her ONE time (and by accident I mean he wasn’t in control of his massive strength in his tru form), he’s abusive?!?! Correct me if I’m wrong, but an abuser is someone who takes pleasure from hurting someone. Kyo looked so distraught after hitting Tohru. That was not pleasing to him at all.
And now the part where he ACCIDENTALLY hits her when he punches the table is being brought up, which he IMMEDIATELY felt sorry for!!! And like when he yelled at her when he didn’t mean to, he allowed her to hit him with her bag because he thought he deserved it.
WHY WOULD HE FEED HER SOUP IF HE WAS MISTREATING HER?! OR LET HER VENT TO HIM WHEN SHE NEEDED TO?! LIKE THIS IS SERIOUSLY THE MOST HEALTHIEST RELATIONSHIP IVE EVER READ/WATCHED!!! AND IVE READ A LOT OF BOOKS WITH ABUSIVE RELATIONSHIPS! IF YOU WANT A GOOD EXAMPLE OF A FUCKED UP ABUSIVE RELATIONSHIP, GO READ OR WATCH THAT ONE DIRECTION FANFIC “AFTER” WHICH IS RIGHTFULLY CATAGORIZED AS A TOXIC RELATIONSHIP THAT IS ROMANTICIZED!!!
Why the hell is a character labeled as abusive so fucking easily?! That word just gets tossed around and I’m sick of it. So are characters just not supposed to have flaws then?! You want two dimensional characters?! Istg. Kyo just deals with his emotions in a different way and he grows from it. And I know newbies don’t see that yet so this is me just trying to say PLEASE don’t judge until you’ve taken in his full character arc because it’s not fair.
Hopefully I don’t regret this later...

Chapter 16
Words: 3.8k
Disclaimer: There will be violence, kidnapping, drowning, and attempted murder in this chapter!
︻デ═一 ♥
Haneul landed on the floor and listening to the door close behind her, the lock turning. She stood abruptly and jiggled the doorknob, pounding her fists against it, "Let me out!" She yelled, but no one responded. She exhaled sharply and stepped back, running her fingers through her hair and looking around. "Aish!" she hissed.
"Cussing isn't going to help you, sweetheart," a voice came from the other side of the room, and Haneul faced its owner, where a tall man with droopy eyes and slicked hair sat against the wall. He had a cold expression but it wasn't like Sehun's. "What?" He asked. "You're not scared of me? Big hitman with a scary face?"
She furrowed her brows and shook her head slowly, "No, I'm not. I've seen scarier."
The man huffed, getting to his feet and eyeing her carefully, "Well, it looks like you're the second girl who isn't scared of me."
"I'm guessing you're Jooheon," Haneul spoke, remembering his name during her talk with Hyungwon and Sehun back on the ferry. "MONSTA X's hitman..."
"You guessed correctly," he walked toward her, that cold look now replaced with a gentle smile. "And who might you be, little lady? Why were you thrown in here? You don't look like you're a part of our line of work."
"You're right, I'm not," she chuckled helplessly. "I'm Haneul. By blood, I'm related to the Cho Clan, but I'm here with Sehun, EXO's hitman. That lady, Eun-jae, threw me in here, and I need to get out of here before she hurts someone."
Jooheon shrugged, making a sound, "She hurts everyone."
"But this is a little girl we're talking about," Haneul specified, and then the smile on his face was no longer there, his expression becoming stern once again.
"Little girl?" MONSTA X's hitman parroted. "Did she happen to have three cats? And she lives with her father?"
The brunette nodded, confirming that was the same girl she met earlier, "Yes. Her name is Jiyoung. Do you know her?"
"I do," Jooheon nodded, his hands closing into fists as he looked down, anger in his eyes. "That girl is like a little sister to me. Her father is always welcoming me into their home. If anyone harms a single hair on her head, I..." he trailed off, doing his best to contain the angry outburst that was building up. "She was the first person who wasn't afraid of me... my brothers don't know that I visit her and her father when I'm not working. She's always alone when her father heads off to work and I stay with her to make sure she is protected."
"What does Eunjae want from your Clan?" Haneul inquired, and he took a seat at the edge of the bed, folding his hands, brows furrowed.
"She's wanted our territory in Jeju for a long time. All of her imports are illegal drugs that are shipped to the underground nightclubs all over Seoul," Jooheon said. "But... I'd have to guess that since you're here, she took the opportunity to use you and ambush us to get what she wants. She may also be using Jiyoung to make you join her. If the underworld found out the last survivor of the Cho Syndicate is working alongside her, they will fear her and you."
"I want no part of this," Haneul assured him with a shake of her head. "I didn't even know about who I was related to until recently. I've just been a singer at a cabaret who lived with her grandmother. The EXO Clan were my father's friends and he tasked them to protect me and find the person who killed Halmeoni."
"So you're mixed up in all this too," he nodded slowly before turning his gaze at her once more, giving her an expression of determination. "Then we're getting out of here. I won't let that bitch harm Jiyoung. Will you help me?"
Haneul replied with a nod as well, "I will. Just tell me what to do and I'll follow your lead."
︻デ═一 ♥
Sehun was thrown into one of the other bedrooms, the door closing behind him followed by the click of a lock. When he lifted himself off the floor, he was greeted with a pained Hyungwon, who held his head after taking the trauma, "You okay?!" He asked and the slightly older male groaned, smiling through the dizziness.
"I'll live," he said.
"Sehun," another voice spoke, and the raven-haired male looked up, coming face to face with the patriarch of the MONSTA X Syndicate. He was tall with broad shoulders and a well-built frame. His suit jacket was discarded, revealing the wrinkled button-down, tie, and slacks he was wearing, his short dark hair slicked in small spikes.
"Shownu hyung," the raven-haired hitman stood up, greeting him with a bow. "Are you hurt?"
"I'm alright," he gave him a nod. "But Jooheon and Wonho were separated from us. Minhyuk, Kihyun, and Changhyuk escaped and are asking for help from GOT7."
"We have to get out of here now," Sehun spoke. "Eunjae has my friend and I know she's in danger."
"Your friend?" Shownu questioned.
"Cho Haneul," the younger male answered. "The survivor of the Cho Syndicate. Junmyeon gave me orders to protect her at all costs."
"I see," Shownu nodded slowly, making his way toward the door, grabbing the knob and jiggling it did a moment. "Eunjae is here for our territory. She needs a place for her drug imports to come without facing the law. Jeju Island is the best place for that. There aren't many regulations for what comes to port here."
"So it isn't because of Haneul then?" Sehun asked.
"Well, Cho Haneul is a bonus for her," Shownu continued. "Take the heiress of the Cho Clan and use her name to instill fear into others, and the other Syndicates will forfeit their territories to her. She won't kill her, but those who fear the Cho name will."
"The FT Syndicate sent Eunjae here," Hyungwon said to the older male. "They'll, no doubt, use this as a way to lure Eunjae and the girl to them and kill them both."
"I won't let them kill Neullie," Sehun exclaimed, and the two males faced him, taking in his cold expression. "If they do, they'll have to deal with me."
Shownu's eyes widened slightly, nodding and crossing the room again, leaving Sehun in his angered state while Hyungwon tried to think of a way out of their current predicament.
"He was definitely jealous of those cats," he mumbled.
"What was that?" Shownu asked, and the younger male gave him a coy smile.
He answered, "Animida."
︻デ═一 ♥
Jiyoung was standing outside her house, playing with Hyuk, Kyo, and Toto, listening to them meow and rub against her, purring when she scratched behind their ears, releasing a soft giggle. "You boys are so sweet," she whispered, a shadow casting over her, prompting her to face the person who stood over her from behind.
"Hello, Jiyoung," Eunjae smiled at the girl sweetly.
She stood up slowly, the cats no longer meowing but taking alert stances, their big eyes trained on the unknown woman, "Yes...? May I help you, Ahjumma?"
"Ahjumma?" The woman parroted, irritation behind her kind gaze, bending down to look closer at Jiyoung. "Do I look like an ahjumma? I'm very young. Why don't you call me Unnie?"
"U-Uh," Jiyoung stammered for a moment, looking down and taking a step back. She didn't feel comfortable around this woman. She wasn't like Haneul, who was kind and wasn't annoyed by her presence. Jiyoung could somehow sense the woman's annoyance.
Eunjae looked behind the girl's small shoulder, eyeing the cats she was playing with earlier, "What cute cats you have there. Think we can play with them?"
"O-Oh, actually, they—" she was interrupted by a yowl. Toto's fur was on edge and Kyo hissed while Hyuk meowed with hostility. Jiyoung knew her cats loved girls, but they didn't like just any girl. They were excellent judges of character and could tell right away who had good intentions. From their reaction, she now knew Eunjae wasn't a kind person.
"Well that's not nice," The older woman grumbled. "Your cats don't seem to like me. But no matter. Jiyoung, you're a good girl, aren't you? Will you show me around Jeju Island? I'm new here and one of the neighborhood ladies told me you're a wonderful tour guide."
The door opened, and Jiyoung's father stepped out, wearing his work clothes, "Jiyoung-ah, I'm heading out. Wait for Jooheon and he'll stay with you until I—" he came to a halt, his eyes fixated on Eunjae, who exhaled when she came face to face with the middle-aged man. "Who are you...?" He asked.
"Aish, jinjjah," Eun-jae laughed humorlessly. She didn't want the girl's father to get involved but she had no choice. She called for her men to come through the gate, towering over her and the man and his daughter, who staggered with fear. "Ahjussi, think you can cooperate with me? Give me your daughter."
"What?" Jiyoung's father asked in astonishment. "Why the hell would I do that?"
"I'm not going anywhere," the little girl protested.
Eunjae rolled her eyes, clicking her tongue and smirking darkly, "That's too bad because you have no choice."
The henchmen closed in on the two of them and Jiyoung's father stood in front of her, pushing back the taller, bulked men who endeavored to take his daughter away from him, "Jiyoung-ah! Get out of here! Go find Jooheon!"
"But Appa!" The girl protested.
"Go, I said!" He shouted. "The cats and I will take care of these thugs!"
She took a step back, reluctant to leave her father and her little brothers, but they hissed and yowled, pouncing and digging their teeth into the arms of one of Eunjae's men, causing him to cry out in pain while her father punched another across the face.
"You bastards stay away from my daughter!" He yelled when she ran past the gates and down the path toward the estate where Jooheon told her to go if she were ever in trouble.
Jiyoung stumbled for a moment, breathing heavily looking over her shoulder to make sure no one was following her, but a pair of large arms grabbed onto her small frame. "Let go of me!" She screamed.
"Shut up, will you?" Another one of Eun-jae's men had cut her off, as if she had anticipated that the little girl would try to run away.
"Jooheon oppa!" Jiyoung exclaimed desperately. "Help me!"
The man put a cloth over her mouth, and she struggled to leave his grasp, the scent of chloroform overpowering her until she became tired, falling unconscious and no longer moving. She hung limp in his arms, and the man threw her over his shoulder, his entire hand holding onto her waist as he made for Shownu's estate.
︻デ═一 ♥
"Let me out of here!" Haneul shouted toward the other side. She and Jooheon had come up with a plan to annoy Eunjae's men and when they were irritated just enough, they would come barging in, and Jooheon would take the opportunity to knock them out and find the others. "You can't do this to me! Open the door, I said!"
"Aw, shut the hell up, you stupid bitch!" The man on the other growled, kicking the door with his shoe. "Or else!"
"Or else what?!" Haneul challenged him, a smile playing on her face when she looked at Jooheon, who was leaning beside the door, stifling his laughter and giving her a nod. "You'll beat me?! You'll teach me a lesson?! You don't have the guts! Now, get me out of here this instant!"
"Aish!" He cursed, unlocking the door and stomping into the room, towering over her. "I think it's time I shut you up."
He made to pin her down onto the bed with brute force, but Jooheon didn't hesitate. He grabbed onto the man and knocked him out unconscious, and he fell the their feet with a soft moan. Haneul released, fixing her coat and giving the older male a smile, "Thanks for that."
"No problem," he chuckled, kneeling before him and grabbing the man's gun, tucking it inside his jacket. "Now, let's find the others and get to Jiyoung."
Meanwhile, in the other room, Sehun was pacing, his usual patience wearing thin at this point, but then he heard footsteps approaching the front door, prompting Shownu and Hyungwon to raise their heads. Without hesitation, Sehun took out his gun, pointing it toward the door, ready to shoot.
"Um! Sehun!" Haneul had called out from the other side. "It's me! I'm getting you out of here!"
"Neullie?!" He choked, tucking his gun back into his jacket quickly lest he make the mistake in shooting her instead. She unlocked the door, greeting him with a sheepish smile.
"Annyeong," she waved.
"Oh, thank God!" Hyungwon exclaimed standing up. "I thought we were going to be stuck here forever."
Shownu laid eyes on the girl, his expression softening when he took in her sweet face. She looked very innocent, almost otherworldly compared to the darkness he lived in. It was no wonder the EXO Clan had to protect her. "She's... so cute!" He remarked.
"Are you okay?" Sehun approached her, his expression filled with concern as he looked her over. "They didn't hurt you, did they?!"
"I'm okay, truly," she assured him. "I had some help."
Jooheon has come into the room, and leaning against him was another muscular male, his hair was a silvery white and wavy, and he had a wide chest, big biceps and abs that could be seen through his fitted black t-shirt. He had big eyes, full lips, a tall nose, and an angular facial structure. "Hyung," Jooheon looked toward Shownu. "I got Wonho. He's okay."
"Took a beating but I'll live," Wonho chuckled tiredly.
With a single nod, Shownu turned toward Hyungwon, giving him his next set of orders, "Take Wonho to a safe place. We can't risk him getting hurt with his injury."
"Right," he replied, walking toward Jooheon and taking Wonho from him, helping him walk out into the hallway, leaving only the four of them in the room.
"There's something you should know," Ha-Neul said to Sehun and Shownu. "That girl I ran into before—Jiyoung—she is in danger. Eunjae is going to kill her if we don't do something."
"Then we'll get her to safety," The eldest male assured her. "If she plans on killing her, she'll bring her back here."
Suddenly, a phone went off in the room. It belonged to Jooheon, and he pulled it out of his pocket to check who was calling him. Instead, he was greeted with a FaceTime call, and the number belonged to Eunjae. "It's her."
"Turn it on," Sehun urged. "Let's see what she wants."
The younger male nodded, accepting the call, and he was greeted with the woman's devious smirk. "I was wondering when you were going to answer!" She cackled. "Well, now look what happened because the Cho heiress decided not to listen to me!"
"What did you do to Jiyoung?!" He asked, and Eun-jae rolled his eyes.
"You know I haven't speaking yet," she groaned with frustration. "The point is, if little Haneul doesn't make up her mind and work by my side, I'll take your territory. Besides, I really need it anyway since my drug imports are so important to me."
"Dammit, just tell me where she is!" Jooheon yelled, and Eunjae released a heavy sigh.
"Oh alright. Fine, since you're so impatient," she turned the phone, and he realized just where she was. It was the pool behind the house, and seated on its floor was Jiyoung, bound at her ankles and wrists, gagged, and blindfolded, tears trailing down her cheeks as she quivered with fear. "Say hello to Jiyoung... I didn't take you for a pedophile, Jooheon... you must be so desperate to—"
"Fuck, I'm going to end you!" He threatened, and she clicked her tongue.
"I didn't even get to the fun part yet," she sang, and then, slowly but surely, water was filling the pool. "If you don't surrender your territory, and if Cho Haneul doesn't join me, I will make sure the water fills the pool faster, and poor little Jiyoung will be sleeping with the fishes. You better act quickly. Don't keep me waiting."
The video call ended, and Jooheon's grip on his phone was so tight, one would think it was ready to break in half in his hands. To see that little girl in danger angered him beyond belief. It was like watching a younger sibling who was in grave danger, and even though the last thing Jooheon wanted was to give in, he had no choice. "Her safety is more important. We can't let her die. He's father will be devastated."
"You're right," Shownu agreed with him. "I'll give up our territory as well. "Nothing is more important than her life."
"What if you don't have to?" Haneul asked them. "Maybe we can turn the tables on them."
"Like trick them?" Sehun faced her, his expression stern. "No, Neullie. We're not doing that. I can't put you in any more danger."
"But if she gets a hold of the ports for her drugs, then people will get sick," she argued. "Come on. You have this territory, and I don't know what their imports are—"
"—Seafood." Shownu answered.
"Seafood—" the brunette parroted. "And Jeju Island is known for that. We can still save Jiyoung and you can still keep your territory."
"If you have a plan, I'm ready for anything," Jooheon said and Sehun protested gently.
"I'm still very against this."
"I know," Handul smiled up at him. "But for saving a child, this is worth the risk."
︻デ═一 ♥
Eunjae waited for them to arrive, her eyes set on the pool as it was slowly being filled with water, and Jiyoung couldn't do anything but sob silently, praying that someone would come and help her.
The doors opened, and Jooheon stepped by the poolside, ready dive and take the girl away from any danger, but he remembered Haneul's plan.
"I see you've made it. That was quick," Eunjae remarked, looking between the four of them. "So? What do you say? Will you give me your territory and will you join me, Haneul? Imagine what you could accomplish with me as your partner! Your very name instills fear into the hearts of men!"
Haneul looked toward Shownu, who gave her a single nod, and she looked over her shoulder, eyes resting on Sehun, and he was ready for anything. Taking a step forward, the brunette got on her knees and bowed, "I'll join you..."
Shownu was next to get on his knees, bowing before the woman, "And I will forfeit MONSTA X's territory. Just please... let the girl live."
Eunjae looked between them for a moment, wondering if this was some sort of trap, but with a huff, she walked toward the pool and glanced at Jiyoung, who grew increasingly scared now that the water was above her ankles. "Thank you for making the right decision," she said, her smirk beginning to fade. "But I'm afraid I'll have to decline."
This time, she released more water, and it was rising quickly, and the older woman released her henchmen to fight against the others, distracting them from attempting to save the little girl.
Sehun didn't take out his gun yet, deciding to use it as a last resort as he fought with the two males, and Jooheon did the same, glancing toward the pool to try and get Jiyoung out, but they wouldn't let him anywhere near her.
Haneul decided to take it upon herself, running toward the pool, and pushing aside one of Eun-jae's men with whatever strength she had once he blocked her, stumbling and watching her dive into the water, where Jiyoung was now underwater.
"Ah, what a pain in the ass she is," the older woman rolled her eyes, walking toward the edge of the pool, watching her swim to the surface and grab onto the girl.
Haneul emerged from the water, gasping for air, taking off the blindfold and gag, freeing Jiyoung from her restraints and getting her to safety. "Go, hurry!" The brunette said, and she little girl climbed out.
"Jooheon oppa!" She ran toward him after he had finished dealing with his opponent, and the male knelt and opened his arms, hugging her close and listening to her sob, stroking her wet hair.
"It's alright. Everything is going to be okay," he assured her.
Haneul proceeded to leave the pool, shuddering from the cold she felt, but Eunjae stood above her, her expression livid, kneeling before her and pushing the younger woman back into the water, her hand on her head. Under the surface, Ha-Neul struggled to push away her hand, flailing as water had begun to fill her lungs.
"Die already!" Eunjae hissed. "If you won't help me, you're better off dead!"
"Let her go!" Sehun shouted, raising his gun and shooting the woman's shoulder. Eunjae cried out, the bullet lodged in her shoulder, burning off her skin as she bled out, but her pained reaction made her pull away, falling onto the ground and writhing.
Sehun dove into the water, grabbing onto Haneul and safely getting her out of the pool, but she wasn't moving. He laid her down, eyes wide as he brought his hands to her chest, proceeding to do CPR. "Come on, Neullie! Come back to me!" He pleaded, opening her mouth, and pressing his lips against hers without much thought, breathing into her before going back to pumping her chest. "Don't do this to me! You have to come back!" There was desperation in his voice, breathing into her again, pressing his lips to her once again.
If he failed now, he wouldn't be able to forgive himself. He promised Suho he would protect her and he didn't want her to end up dying because he pulled her into the fight. Guilt, regret, and anger stirred within his chest, and Sehun tried once more, praying she would regain consciousness, and she did.
Haneul began to cough and sputter, sitting up and breathing for air, and Sehun breathed in relief. "You're okay," he brought her into his arms, hugging her tightly, and she remained still, his body so warm she was no longer shivering.

FRUITS BASKET EPISODE 25!!!
Wow. We finally made it to the end of the 1st season! And we’re still alive and maybe just a little bit dehydrated from all the tears that have been spilled (stay hydrated, guys). Phew. It’s been an experience.
I know I said I was gonna write a review/recap on some other points of the 2001 True Form Arc but honestly... I’m tired lol And I can forgive and even like a lot of what the 2001 anime did, but the last few minutes after the climax of the True Form arc piss me off the more I think about it so I’m just gonna leave that job for future me who might come home drunk from a party and suddenly decide to ramble about it. Like God intended.
- (Ok, this is the last last 2001 comparison I’ll make... until my next one), but I do kinda like that 2001 took the initiative to put Kyo’s backstory with his mother together with Kyo’s backstory with Kazuma as a side by side comparison... But, I guess it kinda shifted the whole point of the True Form arc to be about that rather than it being centred on Kyo and Tohru. Still an interesting choice!
One of my favouriteeee flashback moments! It’s so gentle! And baby Kyo is so adorable!
Kyo fighting in the stereotypical shonen anime way of fighting is just everything I needed to confirm to me that he truly thinks he’s in a shonen. Thank you, anime.
Ugghhhhh. Everything about the concept and the act of the ‘Cat’s room/prison’ is just... ugh. It’s probably the most disgusted feeling I get from this anime. I’m not criticising the writing at all, it rises the stakes and gives the protagonist something terrible to fight against. It’s just the whole thought around a ‘so called’ family or clan creating something like this for someone who did nothing but be born just makes me feel a bit ill.
(Lol and clearly Kazuma shares my thoughts!)
But this scene portrays one of my favourite things about Kazuma. Kazuma is a character that writers could very easily portray as perfect and without fault as he is literally and figuratively the teacher and one of the few adult guiding lights of the story. But Takaya-sensei gave him not only opportunity for fault but also opportunity for growth. Not once but TWICE. I love love the fact that while he adopted Kyo mostly out of guilt and atonement for how he’d treated his grandfather, it later turned into a genuine love and want for Kyo’s happiness.
And I LOVE the fact that he feels bad for taking off Kyo’s beads. But real talk? What he did was a total Dad move. And whether you see it as a good thing or a bad thing, sometimes parents are cruel and tough to be kind and helpful and when you link it to the typical behaviour of a dojo master - it’s definitely in character. I just really like that he at least had some reservations about his actions as it fleshes him out more as a character! It’s all great. I love him haha
Tohru calls Kazuma, ‘Master Kazuma’!! 🤗
See! Even Tohru agrees with me! Total Dad.
I... <3
*clutches heart* Sunshine boy...
That slight Studio Ghibli hair poof... I cannttttt
She’s just so happy for them!
AND I’M SO HAPPY FOR THEM! 😭It’s just a really cool and nice moment. Like a reassuring, ‘yeah, we had this huge moment that’s gonna be a drastic shift in our relationship but we’re cool’ :) while heart-eyeing each other on the inside
But I appreciate that we had a few seconds of this - that I personally felt the manga was missing. Kyo hurt Tohru and we’re not gonna talk about it until later-later? This was a good fix to at least show that it’s a thought in his head. Obviously, it will be fleshed out later along with all the other stuff in Kyo’s big ‘Tohru angst’ bin later... can’t wait to deep dive into that in season 2 ahaaaa...
TOHRU OPENLY SWOONING OVER KYO. TOHRU. OPENLY. SWOONING. OVER. KYO.
A year can’t prepare me for season 2. I’ll never be ready.
- I can’t ever get enough of the cat reows in the background of Kyo’s anger outbursts
Oh, look it’s my favourite crackship. 🥰
Yuki’s reaction to everything is really interesting... and quite honestly, I’m still working it out in my head from forgotten pages of the manga. Because yes, Yuki’s reaction to the true form is very much in line with all of the other zodiac’s reactions. But the fact that he links Kyo’s true form to his darker thoughts and less graceful and non-perfected parts of himself as things that he needs to never reveal is... intriguing. The more Yuki starts to accept all of his trauma and the sides he doesn’t like about himself, I do wonder if it will also have an effect on the way he sees Kyo outside of the zodiac curse.
Also sidenote: I always had the impression that the only reason Yuki hates Kyo so much is because Kyo pretty much openly DETESTED Yuki from the first moment they met because of the stories Kyo was told about the cat and rat relationship... but... I clearly have a lot to refresh my memory about the manga during the break because it seems like there’s a lot more to it than just that?
- I love Hatsuharu and Yuki’s relationship! Another lovely crackship. Haru is just so shippable.
A gorgeous moment. I love Tohru’s simple ‘okay’. THE WORLD’S BEST FRIEND.
I love that the animation studio is just like ‘yeah this ship is still valid, keep the triangle alive’ 😂I kid, this was super cute! But, I think it’s very clear when you compare Kyo/Tohru interactions to Kyo/Yuki interactions that you get what the jig is. But I’m not here to judge, have fun with whatever ship you like - happy sailing!
🎵WHOOO ARE YOU?
🎵WHO-WHO? WHO-WHO?
(Of course I know, I’m not that much of an amnesiac...) Him calling Yuki cute/pretty is the birth of a new ship for me and I didn’t think she would have the same colour hair as Yuki (kinda)!
tch... biiiiiiiiiiiiiitttch.... 👀....
Oh giiiiirrrlllllll....
*sigh* I’m just glad that I get a year to revitalise myself cos Season 2 is gonna be MESSY.
But I guess that’s it for now!
This was a hell of a ride, guys. I hope you enjoyed my silly ranting for the time being. I dunno, if I’ll do the same for season 2 cos life happens (I most likely will, let’s get real) but doing this actually made me appreciate Fruits Basket on a whole new level and not just something nostalgic from my teen years.
My posting on Fruits Basket will probably die down a bit during the break cos I’ll be too busy crying about the next few arcs in My Hero Academia Season 4 instead and captivated by ‘Radiant’ (a new shonen anime that I think more people should give a chance to!). Also, if anyone has any anime recommendations, let me know! I’m open to most things except gratuitous gore.
Also, I don’t know if you guys knew but I’m also an artist who is coming out with an inktober zine very soon... and if you’d like to support visit my patreon: patreon.com/graceofaeons and all the details for my zine will be uploaded soon!
See youu, till I see youuu!

Let's talk about Kyo's media blackout.
It is with a slight reluctance that I post this. It's not wise to mention Tanuki online nor share what they talk about within the overseas fandom for a multiple of reasons.
1. I don't want them to get angry at me
2. I don't want the overseas fandom to flip out and judge the Japanese fandom
3. I just want everyone to be chill and happy and flowers
But I've seen a lot of people freaking out, a lot of random theories floating around and people worrying so I wanted to post this theory and open it for discussion.
Of course this isn't fact. It's pure speculation. But given the timeframe, PERSONALLY I feel like this may have had something to do with Kyo decision.
So I post this with two DISCLAIMERs.
1. As mentioned this is not in any way fact. There is no proof that Kyo does or doesn't look at Tank. I simply find it interesting the sequence of events, the timing of the media blackout and I am only translating this for those who are interested. I hope this doesn't cause any huge arguments or any bad blood. It's simple here to discuss and consider.
2. Please do not judge the whole fandom based on Tank. Just like any forum, any comment section on the world wide web; there will be people who leave negative feed back. It is a tiny portion of people and not a reflection of the Japanese fandom as a whole. Judging them based on what they said would be like someone looking at negative comments or sarcastic jokes on Tumblr and judging the English speaking fandom. That's not to say what they post is okay, but it's just dumb shit posting and shouldn't be taken to heart.
you get me fam?
Okay, so I contemplated posting screenshots and translating what happened immediately after Kyo changed his profile picture up to when he deleted everything but as I said I don't want to be taken out by angry tank users so I'm just gonna translate a selection of posts.
These posts are taken from the Meg thread (remember the girl linking arms with him at a concert? That's Meg.) which to be honest is a shit show. It was a thread born from those notorious pics and for over a year now has remained a place where people post rumours, shit talk, complain and just make shit up a lot of the time. So please, AGAIN, bare that in mind. It is a place of negativity born from a scandal that shocked a lot of the fandom. Aint nothing nice ever gonna be said there. Periodt. In reality a lot of the people who post there are still fans of Kyo. I think they're just still a little hurt by the way it came to light about Meg.
After Kyo posted his new picture I checked tank before going to bed because I was curious about what their reactions would be and everyone had exploded. During the 7 hours I was asleep Kyo deleted everything and left the internet forever so tbh given the fact he was probably bored in a hotel in Fukuoka, just did a radio show, probs wanted to see peoples reaction, etc I personally, believe he was on Tank. This is a running theme in the thread itself and people often say he actively browses it (this is not a major thing, a lot of guys in bands browse tank same as celebs browse twitter. Why Kyo would look at the meg thread in particular? idk. )
SO TLDR
Yesterday around 7pm the thread suddenly changed to mixed reactions after Kyo changed his Twitter pic.
"His new twitter icon had me shook lol"
"I hope he changes his instagram one too"
"Idk I don't like how quickly he's become some kind of social media old fogey"
"Kyo's turned into a social media monster too" (*edit; my bad Yuchi is beer monster, Shinya is social media monster lol)
"It's kinda cheap"
"I get you, it's like he's lost his values" (probably because Kyo has always made big deal about how much of himself he shares)
It continued like that for a while with people more or less saying the same thing until he posts about leaving social media.
"He just suddenly said he's not gonna do social media anymore"
"lol after he went to all the effort of changing his profile picture"
"I'm shook"
"annoying 40 year old nut job"
"Bet you he came on here"
"Do you normally change you icon then quit"
"Join Kyo online"
"idg why even though Kyo's had so many haters since he first started twitter he's suddenly affected by it??"
"I still think he's cute even when he's sulking like this lol"
"I knew he was looking at Tanuki"
"I don't get why he's suddenly deleting it after all this time?? It's like what is this old man on about?"
"It's lame how he's making such a big deal of out saying he's quitting"
(lots of people agreed with this post saying that he's acting childish)
"I wonder what happened? Like everything seemed fine recently. I mean we'll never know but like I'm sure he has a lot going on.."
"I can't believe he basically wiped his instagram clean but left all the pics of cake and omurice lmao"
"If only he'd go to sleep earlier and eat a banana the serotonin would fix everything"
The random comments and mixed reactions continued for all of Friday. One of the main points that stuck out after the initial reactions was how people began to become suspicious that this was merely a tactic to get people to join Kyo online with people claiming this was typical of business man kyo, that it was about that time of year where they usually begin to advertise and promote in order to get new members.
So, allow me to play devils advocate for a second. As someone who is a member of Kyo online I have to admit since he started posting more and more online (compared to hardly ever on Kyo online), the membership has become more or less invalid. In the past it was worth the money for the videos and pictures that as fans we rarely saw. But if he's going to post them online then it raises the question (tickets to concerts aside) is there any point in being a member if you can just get the content for free? I'd imagine that this plays some kind of role in why the reactions are often negative. Members of Kyo online have suddenly gone from having something exclusive that was only for them, to simply being a part of something anyone can access.
Another point someone brought up is that whilst it's acceptable for Kyo to be upset. It is very, very childish and the timing is selfish. Sukekiyo literally made their instagram days ago and suddenly Kyo states how he isn't going to post online anymore. This act instantly casts a negative feel on Sukekiyo's insta. It almost gives a vibe that any picture Kyo is in might be "against his will". Kyo is not new to criticism. He's been in this game for 20 plus years. Everyone who is in the Indies scene knows about Tank. Every fan, every bandmen, knows it's a bad place filled with mostly shit posting and rumours and doesn't represent fans a whole.
The meg thread is simply fans flogging a dead horse, posting any poor Japanese girl with a straight fringe and some tattoos, anyone who looks even a little like Meg and saying she MUST be a groupie of Kyo. Which begs the question why would Kyo go there? Why would he look at that? Why would he want to subject himself to that kind of thing and then punish the majority for some dumb comments a few bored fans made? What was he expecting by going there?
Of course there is no proof Kyo lurks. But the reality is he probably does, I mean he's only human, he' s bound to be curious about fans reactions for Madara, etc and where else to get honestly reactions than an anonymous forum? Personally, as someone who has lurked tank for a few years now, I think he reads it. There have been times in the past where he's mentioned certain things, done certain things and I've thought "hmmm that's weird tank was literally talking about that". But once again there's no proof. It's just one of those vibes you get sometimes. (one major one I can think of is during the interview for mode of gauze where he said everyone massively complained about it. I know people can submit questionnaires after lives but I feel that a lot of Japanese people are more brutally honest when they can hide behind anonymity. )
Considering the "staff" posted a pic of his feet on the sukekiyo instagram today, I feel like this is just Kyo being (sorry to say) butthurt and it might just blow over. A lot of the comments mention his age, mention how he's clearly trying and failing to copy 20 year olds by using insta, that he's lame or cringe and that's gonna hurt anyones pride. But I honestly think Kyo should be looking at the billions of comments on instagram of people who love him rather than a few trolls online.
So with that being said I hope this was an interesting read and gave a little insight into why Kyo is often private. It was a big deal that he was posting so much and actively using instagra. I for one was very happy. I believe that in this day and age it is something that is required in order to engage with your audience and keep a good relationship. Hazuki and Ruki are good examples of this and Ive been saying for the longest time I wish Kyo would get more on board with it. So it's a shame he's left at the first hurdle.
Oh well. This is why we can't have anything nice isn't it.
#Kyo#dir en grey#instagram#translation#sukekiyo#drama I don't like drama why can't we all just be chill#remember this isn't fact its just my theory
