Hello! I'm normally a ghost reader but I really have to tell you the following; I love your writing! Wholeheartedly! It really makes my day, even my whole week when I read your oneshots/short stories! I'm currently in love with "What's all the buzz about?" and "Our Angel" - the submas twins are sitting rn rentfree in my mind and reading your awesome stories really makes me happy! Also, I really, really love "Love that bites" - I never played Castlevania and never watched it but still; your writing pulled me right in! Now I'm even considering buying one xD (do you have a recommendation?) Anyway! Just wanted to tell you that and wondered when a next part might come - if you don't know/have no idea or don't feel so good bc of health problems, that's fine! Don't pressure yourself and take your time! :) Kind regards crimson anon
Hello Crimson Anon! (o´∀`o)/
Thank you so much for the kind words!! I’m really touched you like my writing 🥰 When I started this blog, I never really thought people would like it this much, so its nice to see messages like this 🥹
I’m glad you enjoying all my stories, and even gave my Castlevania fic a shot!
If you do want to try the games out, there are a few good ones out there to start with!
I first recommend Symphony of the Night. It’s a classic, and redefined the series, and even created the Metroidvania genre with the help of Metroid games!
It was specifically designed to be a Castlevamia game anyone could play. It starts out a little tough if you aren’t sure what to do, but it still considered a gem, and I enjoy playing it. I’d even do daily randomizer runs of it when I still had a computer! This game was a lot if people’s first Castlevania game too!
(Word if advice, if you play it, explore every cranny you can, look at every item description, and there are technically 2 clocktowers. One in the middle if the castle, and one that is an actual tower. The first is a kinda a mistranslation, but if you want the full experience, it’s easier to figure out some things if you know that. The game is deceptively longer than you might think.)
You can get SotN on playstation 4, and on a few other consoles I believe! You can even get it with Rondo of Blood, one of the best Castlevania games before Symphony came out. If you want a more original Castlevania experience, Rondo is the way to go. Symphony is actually a direct sequel to Rondo, but you don’t have to beat Rondo to know what’s going on.
Though if you do get the Rondo + Symphony bundle, Symphony is technically a remaster, with new text and voice acting. A lot if the iconic lines were changed or redone. Its still done nicely, but if you get this version, make sure to look up the original cutscenes on youtube. Dracula’s lines may be memed a bit, but he put his whole non existent soul into those lines, along with Richter. Evil Richter my beloved~
Rondo has some of the best sprite work, level design, and enemies before Symphony, while still being a classic! It technically took a long time for it to get an english release too, and i had a lot if fun with it!
You don’t have to know the overarching story to play Rondo either. Most of the games don’t really require knowledge from previous games.
But if you want to start somewhere based on the story, I recommend Lament of Innocence. Its the first game in the timeline, though you would probably have to emulate it since this was only released in the ps2 i believe.
It’s an amazing game, and plays similar to Devil may cry 1. It has its issues, but i genuinely love it, and it IS first in the timeline.
If you can’t find it, or emulate it, i know some lets plays are on youtube, and one of my favorite streamers has played it as well.
For a beginner, those are the ones I recommend! But honestly, Symphony is probably your best bet. Its casual and fun, and has a good story that a little of the anime was based off of (though the rest was based off of Castlevania 3, but they took lore from symphony too)
If you like symphony, it more or less set the standard of modern castlevania games after that before the reboot. So playing it will help out a bit if you wanna try any others that came out afterwards, most of them on gameboy and ds are pretty good too.
As for my writing, i’m about 2500 words into Love That Bites, and about a 1000 for the next Our Angel! I’ve been working on both instead of one at a time so i can focus on Beemas, and a genshin fic i’ve been planning, and maybe another castlevania fic 👉👈
I try to get all my chapters around 3000 words before i post them. Just a personal goal of mine. If i write more, then great! But i try to write about that much first.
so thats one reason its taking a bit longer than usual, added with the migraines i’ve been fighting for the past few weeks. I’ll try to have those out soon though! Hopefully within a few days!
Thank you so much for reading and enjoying my stuff 🥰💕
#ask#anon#crimson anon#zed.talks#asks like this always almost make me cry from how sweet they are#thank you#long post

BAR’s PS5 Screenshots 10-8-2023: these are my recent Top 10 Game Pics I took yesterday of the game I just started playing yesterday, it has been 10 whole years since I played an actual Last of Us game on my PS3 around that very year I graduated High School, and now after 3 years since the Last of Us Part 2 came out, I finally have it, my Mom and I ordered this game on Amazon and it arrived in our house a month ago, so I was busy trying to finish playing the game story of Oddworld Soulstorm, and then I got busy playing a couple of new Switch Games too, and I’ve finally made time to play through where I left off with the PlayStation Continuity of the Last of Us 10 years ago, yeah I’m aware the PS5 Remake of the 1st Last of Us game came out a year ago on September 2nd 2022, and HBO’s the Last of Us TV Show came out 4 months on January 2023 after the Remake itself of course, and I’m back to watching where I left off with HBO’s Last of Us tv show on Max, so after I’ve finished watching season one of the TV Adaptation and playing through the game story of the Game Sequel too, maybe I’ll consider buying the PS5 Remake after all, just to replay that PS3 Classic for old time sake of course, I added some sepia filters to some of my favorite in game cutscenes and gameplay moments, as well as taking that 8th picture with an Easter Egg cameo of a PS3 Console, Uncharted 1 & 2, and the Jak & Daxter HD Collection I know I used to play on that console too, man I still wish that Naughty Dog or any other PlayStation Publisher owned Game Developer would bring back the Jak & Daxter franchise in general, whether it be a long anticipated sequel or a Made from Scratch Remastered Compilation of the classic PS2 Trilogy itself one of these days, I tell ya' folks what, I wanted to make both the sepia filtered & non filtered cutscenes as well as the gameplay composition pics of Joel’s horseback riding and Ellie walking with two peeps look like comic panel compositions paying tribute to the Mirage Ninja Turtles Comics and Tintin Comics just for fun too of course, and I hope you folks like these in game pictures I captured this year I tell ya' folks what.

Got a top 5 or 10 most wanted Fortnite skins?
I've been playing Fortnite regularly since 2019. I've had every Battle Pass since Chapter 2. I get free currency daily for having a Fortnite Founders Pass (hence why I have every Battle Pass).
I am drowning in so many skins that the 100 locker presets Epic gives you is nowhere near enough. Every time I get or buy a new skin, I have to make the hard decision of what I can safely replace.
It actually genuinely influences my spending habits because I'll think, "I've wanted this guy for a long time, but I don't feel like deleting anything for him."
If you mean: are there any skins not in Fortnite that I really want? I don't know if I can answer that. Partially because of what I just described, but partially also because of "Santa's Lap Syndrome" where I'm sure I've said "oh I want that in Fortnite" but now I cannot for the life of me remember a single thing.
Following through on Samus would be nice, I guess. It seems like she was really close to releasing and then got held up at the last second. There's a fair amount of evidence in her favor (but this post is long enough as it is), and I was all prepped an ready to buy her back when I thought she was right around the corner.
As for skins already in the game, I can just skim a list to tell you that.
Envoy. She's priced cheap and I think she's cute.
I'd love to have Calamity, but she's a battle pass and as such will never rerun. She's just a cool cowgirl and has lots of alt styles.
I've come very close to buying ISO and her male counterpart. They're actually in the shop as I'm writing this. FIGHTING POLYGON TEAM
Sandshark Driver reminds me of Gum from Jet Set Radio. That's enough for me.
Mezmer is another guy I've come EXTREMELY close because I think his mask is rad.
I think Peekaboo's juggalo/goth clown alt is hilarious but I've never been able to bite the bullet and buy her.
The Joker is fun but he's always a real money skin and he's only sold in a pack with other stuff for like $30. Barf.
Mariana looks super cool but I wonder how visible she is at night.
Trog was a Battle Pass skin so he's gone forever.
I like Errant because you can apply gun wraps to his armor, giving him hundreds of customization options. But I own another skin that functions somewhat similarly.
Silver Surfer just looks cool.
I have Deadpool, so the other X-Force members just make sense, like Domino and Cable.
I regret not being on the ball enough to get this Playstation Blue variant of Versa. (it was free for PS+ subs) Vanilla Versa is definitely a "one day when I have enough vbucks to spare, I'll buy her."
The Classic Storm Trooper is also just a good in that "I always had this skin in Quake 3" way.
Blackheart is another Battle Pass skin I would die for. Blackheart/Blakebeard is one of THE best characters in STW, Fortnite's campaign mode. AND HE HAS GHOST PIRATE STYLES
Dire is yet another Battle Pass skin I missed. He was the Halloween skin one year and is basically just a cool werewolf, and you can toggle how far in to the transformation he is.
Spider Knight is just a cool looking... uh, Knight. Really, I also want his glider, which is a giant flying black widow spider. But the skin looks great, too.
I've come very close to buying Ghost Rider.
I've waffled back and forth on Rustler because I don't know how much value there is for me personally in just going "hur hur it's my little pony." It's still funny it exists, though.
I've thought about getting the OG Beef Boss, but I already own a couple of other variants, so it's less important now. Same for Tomato Tom.
They put a freakin Gundam Wing parody (Sentinel) in the Battle Pass and it is maybe my #1 regret not having it.
Sometimes I want Crackshot, but I have a friend who uses him pretty often, so it'd be kind of weird? (Another STW all-star character)
When I first started playing, Moisty Merman was the top of my most-wanted list. Now I've wondered if I still care.
Deadfire is in the same camp as Calamity as far as "cool cowboys" go, but this guy is also a phantom cowboy. Double cool!
Order Remnant is the same category as Envoy where he's not very expensive and I just like the way he looks.
Madcap is a fun concept for a character and I like his colors.
A World War 1 gas mask guy is a weird thing to see in Fortnite, and that's the entire reason I want Sky Stalker.
I don't like Chiara's default (with the silver paint), but I love her alt.
I didn't love Kill Bill, but something about Siren is still cool.
Taskmaster is like The Joker where I'd like to have him, but he's in an expensive real-money pack and no thanks.
Eternal Voyager was a Battle Pass skin from the season before I started playing regularly and he's awesome. That skull alt...
...Honestly? That's a lot more than I expected. And I'm probably forgetting or missing some. For comparison, here's a (also probably incomplete) list of all the skins I already own.
If I had to boil it down to a top ten most wanted, I'd say: Chiara, Versa, Mezmer, Ghost Rider, Sky Stalker, Taskmaster, Madcap, Deadfire, Domino and ISO, I guess.

RJ's Platinum Collection #6: Pumpkin Jack
Achieved on 7/23/2022 at 10:32 AM
I happened to stumble upon Pumpkin Jack when I was perusing the PlayStation store, and it happened to be on sale for like 7-10 bucks. I looked up a review of the game and was pleased to hear that it was a spooky and funny 3D platformer that harkened back to the classic days of games like Spyro, Crash Bandicoot, Ratchet & Clank, etcetera. So I decided to get it and get its platinum!
So, our protagonist is none other than the infamous Pumpkin Jack himself, the legendary figure who tricked the Devil out of taking him to Hell when he died, only to end up as a ghost wandering the Earth forever when Heaven didn't want him either. Except now the Devil's undead army is being defeated by a powerful wizard, so the Devil gives Jack a pumpkin-headed body and promises to lift his curse if he helps him defeat the Wizard and unleash Hell on Earth.
Yeah. We're the bad guy in this one. And it's FUN.
The game consists of six levels, starting with the Fields. You start off with a Tutorial, and I also got my first crow skull collectible and my first weapon and three trophies as well.
1/33: Prying Eyes - Pick up your first crow skull.
2/33: Brand New Body - Finish the Tutorial.
3/33: Shovel Face - Equip the Legendary Holy Glory Shovel.
Using my new Legendary Holy Glory Shovel to kill a monster got me a fourth trophy.
4/33: Skull Breaker - Defeat a monster for the first time.
And then I stumbled upon the Vendor, who you can find in each level and purchase cool new outfits from.
5/33: Fashion Victim - Buy your first new outfit from the Vendor.
I then continued playing the first level and encountered a puzzle where my pumpkin head detached from Jack's body and had to smash up some crates.
6/33: Crash Boo-ndicoot - Solve the crate smashing puzzle in the barn.
I then found the other main collectible of the game, which are gramophones hidden on each level. When you find them, Jack does an absolutely awesome dance. Groove it on, pumpkin man.
7/33: Boogie-Man Wonderland - Find a gramophone and DANCE, DANCE, DANCE!
The crow skull collectibles were all also very easy to find. I had no problem finding all 20 of them in the Fields before I got to the final boss of the level, the Scarecrow, and defeated him for another trophy.
8/33: Skull Finder - Collect all crow skulls in the Fields.
9/33: Curse of the Scarecrow - Defeat the Scarecrow.
As I continued through the Mines, the Swamp, Skeletown, and the Graveyard, I realized that each level basically had the exact same set up. You do platforming and fighting, but you also do a pumpkin head puzzle, a rail sequence, and a boss fight, and each of those segments has their own trophy. So most of the trophies were unlocked simply by playing through the game. The crow skulls and gramophone collectibles were all easy to locate throughout the levels, and I also purchased each new outfit from the Vendor along the way.
10/33: Bomberman - Complete the bomb-bouncing courses in the Mines.
11/33: License to Drive - Complete the minecart-driving section.
12/33: Skull Hobbyist - Find all crow skulls in the Mines.
13/33: Ghostbuster - Defeat the Phantom.
14/33: De-Composer - Solve the musical mushroom puzzle.
15/33: Ghost Rider - Complete the ghost horse sequence.
16/33: Skull Collector - Collect all crow skulls in the Swamp.
17/33: Cruel Tea - Defeat the Witch and the Merchant.
18/33: Whack-a-Mole - Complete the whack-a-mole puzzle.
19/33: Formula Ugh - Beat the guards in the cart race.
20/33: Skull Aficionado - Collect all crow skulls in Skeletown.
21/33: The Bigger They Are... - Defeat Dhor.
22/33: High Flyer - Complete the gargoyle-flying sequence.
23/33: Ain't No Rest For The Wicked - Complete the headstone matching puzzle.
24/33: Skull Fanatic - Collect all crow skulls in the Graveyard.
25/33: Hunger Killer - Defeat Gluttony.
And then a plot twist I did not expect came - the sixth and final level is in the North Pole. At Santa's Workshop.
Yes, Pumpkin Jack has to fight Santa Claus. It's actually incredible.
Completing the North Pole also got me the trophies for finding all the crow skulls, all the gramophones, and purchasing all the Vendor's outfits. My favorite outfit was definitely the Buzzard, it made Pumpkin Jack look so badass.
26/33: The Worst Achievement Possible - Complete the Santa presents puzzle.
27/33: Disk Jockey - Found all of the gramophones in the game.
28/33: You'll Float Too - Reach the end of the vortex.
29/33: Skull Obsessive - Collect all crow skulls in the North Pole.
30/33: You've Got A Problem, Man - Collect all crow skulls in the entire game.
31/33: Full Closet - Purchase all outfits from the Vendor.
And then you had the final boss fight against the Wizard. Now, I'll be honest, all the other bosses were easy to beat - except this one. The Wizard took me over an hour to beat, as his attacks were tricky to dodge. But eventually I got it and got the platinum!
32/33: The Baddest Bad Guy - Defeat the Wizard.
33/33: Official Groupie - Unlock all of the trophies in the game.
This game really did feel like a classic PS1/PS2 era platformer. It was fun, quirky, well-written, and I enjoyed the dark and spooky but ultimately fun atmosphere of all the levels. The only downside I give it is that it is very short. I got this platinum in less than six hours, and one of those hours was spent on the final boss fight. But I still recommend this game!
Rating: 8/10

Zelda Game and Watch Pre-Order: Release Date, Games, Price, and Where to Buy
https://ift.tt/eA8V8J
While Nintendo fans won’t be getting that Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild sequel in time for the 35th anniversary of the iconic fantasy series, the publisher is celebrating the huge milestone in a different way: a new Game & Watch handheld pre-loaded three classic Zelda games. Following up on the success of the Super Mario Bros. version of the classic handheld line, the Zelda Game & Watch is hitting store stores on Dec. 11 and will cost $49.99.
You can check out the cool design of the device in the photo above!
If you want to be the first to get the Zelda Game and Watch, you’ll want to make sure to get your pre-order in ASAP as soon as the handheld goes on sale. As you all know, Nintendo products tend to sell out before they even hit shelves! And as the Xbox Series X/S and PlayStation 5 pre-order periods showed us, you won’t just be competing with other Nintendo fans. You’ll also have to try to get a Game and Watch before all of the scalpers do. Just ask the many gamers still trying to buy a PS5 all these months after the next-gen console’s release: beating the scalpers won’t be easy!
But we’ve got you covered. Below, you’ll find links to the online retailers where you’ll have the best chance of securing your pre-order before the Zelda Game and Watch is inevitably out of stock!
cnx.cmd.push(function() { cnx({ playerId: "106e33c0-3911-473c-b599-b1426db57530", }).render("0270c398a82f44f49c23c16122516796"); });
Zelda Game and Watch Pre-Order
Nintendo has not announced when Zelda Game and Watch pre-orders will open. But when pre-orders do start, your best path to securing your pre-order is at one of the following stores:
Nintendo Store Amazon Best Buy GameStop Sam’s Club Target Walmart
It’s also a good idea to follow online gaming deal watchdogs like @Wario64 on Twitter! Wario64 constantly updates his followers when consoles and games are back in stock at retailers. Following this user was how I was able to pre-order my next-gen consoles on day 1 of the pre-order period!
Zelda Game and Watch Games
There are three Zelda games pre-loaded on the new Game and Watch, three titles that track the origin and evolution of the series on the NES and Game Boy:
The Legend of Zelda (1987): “Discover Hyrule and send Ganon packing in the original 1986 game that started it all.”
The Legend of Zelda II: The Adventure of Link (1988): “Explore dungeons with side-scrolling gameplay and a sprawling overworld in this sequel from 1988.”
The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening (1993): “Wake the sleeping Wind Fish in the original 1993 Game Boy version of the first full-sized Legend of Zelda game for a handheld system.”
The Game and Watch also features a Link version of the game Vermin as well as an interactive digital clock and timer.
This Game & Watch: The Legend of #Zelda system launches 12/11! Includes: ✅ The Legend of Zelda ✅ Zelda II: The Adventure of Link ✅ The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening ✅ Vermin (Link Version) ✅ Interactive digital clock + timer pic.twitter.com/eLNq0CDxvz

This is Actually a Completely Subjective List Written in a Completely Objective Voice, so I’m not Wrong, Y’all just had a Bad Year: A Look at the Best Titles of 2020 A.D.
By Orova
I feel like a recap or an intro that encompasses the past year will be redundant to both the reader and the writer, so I just won’t. Instead, I’ll just say that due to circumstances provided by 2020, I had a lot of time to just shut up and play games. And games did I play. I played a lot of good games[1]. I played a lot of bad games[2]. I bought the newest games that came out[3] and I went back down memory lane with some classics[4]. But at the end of every day, I was completely satisfied with how I spent my time and did what I wanted. So this is a list of the games that surpassed satisfaction, pushed the bar higher, and made me reconsider what a truly great game can be in 2020.
The Last Of Us Part II
This game is a beautiful work of art and storytelling. If gripping gameplay is what you came for, then you’ll be staying for the story. Naughty Dog continues to come out with games that push current gen Playstations to astronomical heights, making that hardware and software work overtime to get a game that becomes so overwhelmingly tangible that it cause the player to stop. The Last of Us Part II is no exception to this rule. So often does this game take lefts and rights when you expect it to go straight that it is absolutely insane how much ground it truly covers. Sneaking about before getting into claustrophobic gunfights feels smooth and natural, the new mechanics and enemies are unique, and while the non-linear parts can overstay their welcome at times, the game is long enough for them to not fill in empty space.
When I first played this, I was with my girlfriend for the whole journey and at the end, I didn’t feel quite as fulfilled as I thought I should’ve from the sequel to one of the greatest games I’ve ever played. It wasn’t until I returned on a higher difficulty did I find just how much this game has to offer, making the story all the more powerful as every fight truly felt like my last and every enemy made me rethink my choices and decision making and every arrow I fired and molotov I threw felt a nice weight to it that I have to emphasize once more. This game is a beautiful work of art and storytelling as the gameplay speaks for itself before anything else.
Final Fantasy VII Remake
To those that actually care, I reviewed this game when it came out[5] and I was shocked to find how many people didn’t appreciate it as much as I did. Final Fantasy VII is one of the most influential titles of my life that being able to see Cloud’s hair rendered so cleanly in this dystopian futuristic gothic fantasy world was a miracle in my eyes. A dream come true. The action comes in spades with enough sword fighting and magic to make Power Rangers to look like a fucking picnic.
The graphical design of the game, the direction of animation, and the cunning take on a lot of depth we never got to see so early on makes me very excited for future titles to come. There are some downsides, lots involving the side quests and voice acting, but that is just some of its downsides to look past to find the content at its core. Shooting moonbeams out of your greatsword at stormtroopers while in chase on a motorcycle. Take down a tyrannical oil monger as an eco-terrorist. Find cats for a little girl. Is this a Bioshock? No. But is it a game I keep trying to remind myself to not replay? Yes.
Tony Hawk Pro Skater 1 + 2 Remake
Superman by Goldfinger played and my sister laughed as she watched me cry. This game brought tears to my eyes, literally. As I got to relive sitting in my grandma’s basement, I was propelled to complete absolutely everything I wanted to do. This game was a complete package and its delivery was spot on with what a remake should be. A collection on a past game with quality of life improvements, enhanced handling and accessibility, and a software overhaul.
The game is simple. Complete challenges, unlock drip, flex on your friends. Usually in that order. But it is finally that simplicity in a new game that makes it such a good title. We wanted the game we knew and loved and they promised that. Nothing more, nothing less, it is exactly what we got. A new soundtrack, updated graphics, and nostalgia not most can achieve is a massive point to play this game.
Huntdown
Contra meets Kung Fury. Why the fuck have you not grabbed a friend and played this masterpiece yet. I mean seriously. If you’ve got a roommate or SO or friend with nothing going on tonight, play this shit. It’s great. Moving on.
Mortal Shell
I would like to address the fact that, yes, this is a souls-like and it isn’t exactly the most friendly game because of it. However, this game came out of fucking nowhere and blew me on my ass. Going back to delivering on a promise, these guys crafted an unforgiving title with little to no hand holding to show that this-THIS[6]-is how you make a souls-like. It is balls to the walls skill based combat where the player has to use what little tools they have to overcome a myriad of enemies. Progress is possible only through rewards and items, meaning there is no grinding or farming, just straight gameplay.
This is a game where I paid half the price for a full game and got, while a shorter title, the enjoyment from a full priced AAA game. It takes no time to complete when the “click” happens and it is a fun, fulfilling title the whole time. There are some incredibly unique mechanics that forced me to break my souls brain and for that, it just makes the experience far more personal. If you aren’t weak hearted, I cannot recommend Mortal Shell enough.
Doom Eternal
When Doom Eternal dropped, my sister was playing Animal Crossing: New Horizons. After we both went into respective video game comas from it, we dubbed March 20th Doom Crossing Day. Doom is Doom. Nothing more to say past that honestly, but I will continue my rambling cause I know it’s what you all want anyway.
These guys keep cranking the intensity knob higher and higher. With Doom 2016 these guys said, “Hey, what if we gave the best first person shooter that requires no thinking whatsoever to completely obliterate enemies and zoom around the map at breakneck speeds?” With Eternal, the guys said, “Hey, what if we did what we did for 2016 except this time, we actually have the everyone (enemies and the player) move faster, hit harder, and actually require them to think?” With that, the gore orgy of Doom Eternal was born. Still very much a fast paced shooter with some extra content to fill the pockets of completionists, it delivers in fucking truckloads exactly what it wants from the player. To let loose and fucking floor every hellish abomination in their path.
And the soundtrack, while a sad story, is still one of the best things to listen to in gaming and probably the world.
Darkwood
The only thing that made me stop to consider buying this game was how reliant on a crafting system it seemed. I hate games that force crafting. I don’t know why, so I won’t elaborate. But, done with The Last of Us Part II and needing a survival horror itch to scratch, I sucked it up and bought it. After all, being an indie title for a genre I admire more than most, it couldn’t have been a terrible waste of time. That was probably the single best decision I made during the last year and Darkwood is not lost on me in that sense.
The fact that Darkwood has not only exposed the horizon of top-down horror, but it has experimented and perfected its use for the camera angle is astounding. The atmosphere rides on that perspective and, between the short days of scavenging and talking to the few NPCs you meet to the long nights crouched in the corner of your (un)safe haven, it is never lost. It’s a game where you constantly hear your heart in your ears. The combat can be sloppy at times but the story is one of a kind and its execution is phenomenal. If you are a fan of horror games or roguelikes, I cannot tell you enough. Get Darkwood.
Deep Rock Galactic
After lots of thoughtful consideration, I have deemed this the number one title of 2020. Not only did it keep me and my friends together and in touch during the hard times, it is a shooter that I support with my whole body. You and your friends play as a team of drunk space dwarves, tasked with a mission that sends you deep into a spider-infested planet, where you will have to use your class sets to fight, plunder, and escape the hostile environment.
With PvE at its core and ridiculousness as its foundation, Deep Rock Galactic is a masterpiece of cooperative shooting and procedurally generated dungeon crawling. Blending class play from Team Fortress 2 with unexpected and differing missions from Darkest Dungeon, one will find this lighthearted shooter is an easy, accessible title. With a hint of Risk of Rain to complete its graphics, the game is above all fun. That’s right. It. Is. Just. Fun. Shoot a spider that launches fireballs from its mouth, drink beer that teleports you into the farthest reaches of space, get rich off of gold veins while your team calls you greedy, dye your beard purple, and Rock and Stone in this amazing fusion of PvE and dungeon crawling.
Thank you for coming. There will be no score. It is simply a list where I feel those that need some new titles after the biggest disappointment of them all[7] should find some great titles in here for themselves. Have a safe next year and be patient. Patience is what will reward you. Practice is what humbles you. Hesitation is defeat. Toodles.

Sonic for Beginners Guide (as of the 2020 Sonic Film)
Heya! I don’t think I’ve seen anyone make a post like this yet, or I haven’t seen a post like this yet, but if you just saw the newest Sonic film in theaters or on digital, and you’re interested in going into the Sonic community and trying out tons of other Sonic Media and don’t know where to start, here’s a guide that should help you where to go next if the only thing you have to go off of is the newest movie!
Intro
Everything that I will recommend you to in this post only assumes you’ve seen the full Sonic movie (yes, that includes the post-credits scene) and will prominently feature the following:
Dr. Eggman/Robotnik
Sonic
Tails
(No, this guide won’t feature Owl Mom, as she only appeared in these movies so far. She was never in any other Sonic media, and I doubt you’d see much of her outside the movies)
With that out of the way, let’s begin!
Games
There are quite a lot of Sonic games, and this can seem the most overwhelming, especially since SEGA has been trying their hardest to get new fans from the games rather than the films. But there are a few good games to start with if you only saw the film!
In terms of emulating any of these games: I am fine with emulation. There is nothing wrong in terms of finding ways to preserve these games for years, and if you don’t have the money to own any of these games, then I do recommend emulation. The only emulator I can recommend in terms of the old, 90s Sonic games would have to be Kega Fusion, and if you want to find the ROMs/ISOs, good luck. I can’t tell you how to find ROMs/ISOs, as that is illegal, so I’d recommend asking a friend for help or DMing me if you need help finding a place to find ROMs/ISOs, but legally I can’t post where to find ROMs/ISOs. Despite all of that, when possible, please support SEGA by buying them officially when possible. With that out of the way, let’s truly begin!
Sonic the Hedgehog (1991) - The very first Sonic game, of course, is the best place to start. Not the 2006 one! The 2006 game also titled Sonic the Hedgehog for Playstation 3 & Xbox 360 is not a good representation of the Sonic brand SEGA has been trying to push today, and it’s not a great game overall to start with. Sonic the Hedgehog from 1991, however, is! It isn’t based off the new film, but it is what the current film has the most based off of. It starts off with the basics; you play as Sonic, and you have to stop Dr. Eggman from taking over the world, while saving all your animal buddies. It isn’t too long of a game, and better yet, this game is the easiest to get. It’s available on the Playstation Network store, Xbox Store, Nintendo Eshop (both for the Switch and 3DS), Steam (for Windows and Mac), and it’s even available on both Apple and Android devices! It’s free on phones, but you have ads, so that’s probably one of the best places to start in terms of games!
Sonic the Hedgehog 2 (1992) - Now, if you just saw the film, including the post-credits scene, then this is another perfect place to start. Not only can you play as Sonic, but you can also play as Tails! There are tons of more levels than in the first game, and there’s even a little secret if you collect all the Chaos Emeralds! (can’t say much about those as they haven’t been introduced in the films yet) And like the first game, there are tons of places to get this game. You can get this on the Playstation Network store, Xbox Store, Nintendo Eshop (on both Switch and 3DS), Steam (Windows and Mac), and on both Apple and Android devices! Like the first game, it’s also free on phones, with ads, so if you played the first game or only saw the newest film, this is another great place to start.
Sonic Mania (2017) - Another perfect place to start, and one of the best Sonic games in the past decade, this is an official catch-all Sonic game made by fans for not only the classic 90s games, but also features new levels and new playable characters that haven’t been seen in any recent games, including Mighty the Armadillo and Ray the Flying Squirrel. Now, I don’t think we’ll ever be seeing Mighty or Ray anytime in the films, but Knuckles is in this game as well (and in Sonic 2, I forgot to mention that), and I got a feeling Knuckles might show up in the next Sonic film. But yes, you can play as Sonic and Tails, of course. And this game does also have a multiplayer mode as well, and tons of extra secrets. And honestly, if you do want a recent game to start off with, Sonic Mania might have to be the best place to start with. And the best part is, this game is available on all recent modern gaming hardware, including Playstation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and Steam (Windows and Mac). Sadly, this game isn’t available on smartphones, but that shouldn’t detract from how good this game is. While the base game is cheap, only running you at $20, the DLC for this game only costs $5, while the physical release of this game (which includes the base game, DLC, and more), should only cost you $30.
Now, I hear ya, platformers aren’t really your thing. You don’t have the most modern, recent gaming devices, and your computer/laptop isn’t that powerful either. You only have a smartphone, and you only play mobile games. In that case, SEGA does also deliver in smartphone games, especially for Sonic! There is really only one I can recommend for beginners that even did include a limited event based on this film (that sadly has already passed), and that is
Sonic Dash (2012) - Possibly the easiest place to start with in terms of Sonic games on smartphones. Even though Sonic 1 & 2 are available for smartphones, SEGA did make and release this before those games came out. And with 100 million downloads, who could deny how huge this game has been for them. You really only start out as Sonic, play through Green Hill Zone, and you fight Dr. Eggman. Gameplay-wise, this game is very similar to Temple Run/Subway Surfers, so if you played those games, then this game shouldn’t be that hard to get into. As you play this game, you’re able to unlock more characters, including Tails, and you even get to unlock more levels, and even get to upgrade your characters as well. It is available on Apple and Android devices, and is free to play, despite all of the ads, so you can start off there if you don’t want to play any big Sonic game and just want a casual, light mobile game to play.
Now, Sonic didn’t only have games to boot. He also had tons of cartoons and comics! And let’s talk about those cartoons!
Cartoons
There are tons of Sonic cartoons out there, and there really aren’t that many to start off with if you only saw the film. These are the only few I could recommend to start off with.
The Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog (1993-1995) - One of the first Sonic cartoons by DiC (animators behind the old Mario cartoons), this is honestly one of the few Sonic cartoons I could recommend to beginners, or only those who have seen the film. It stars Sonic and Tails, as they defeat evil plans by Dr. Robotnik, and it does include characters exclusive to this show. And despite the reputation this show has, I’d say this is one of the better cartoons to start off with. Sonic the Hedgehog 1993, or better known as SatAM (Saturday Morning Sonic Cartoon), isn’t really that good of a place to start off with if you only saw the movie. Not only does this show feature tons of characters that aren’t really seen outside of this show and the Archie comics, but this is a little bit more serious, and I don’t really recommend this to beginners who only have the film to go off of. AoSTH, however, is a lot more light, comedic, maybe even a little more childish, but it is one you can have on in the background and don’t really have to pay attention to, and it’s one you could show to kids. You can find this show currently on Netflix, as well as a number of episodes have been uploaded to YouTube in HD, so you can choose wherever you want to see this show.
Sonic Mania Adventures (2018) - A short series of shorts based on Sonic Mania, I’d say this is another great place to start especially in terms of cartoons. They’re all silent cartoons, and are based on Sonic Mania, but also features an original story to boot. Best part; you can watch them on YouTube now. Here’s a video with all of the episodes combined, and they also made a Christmas Special as well. The whole series is only 15 minutes long at most, and it’s something I definitely recommend checking out if you have the time.
Sonic the Hedgehog the Movie/the OVA (1996/1999) - An absolutely different movie from the actual Sonic movie we got a couple months ago, despite some obvious problems within the script and writing itself, I’d highly recommend checking out this movie! This is a really good movie that captures the speed of Sonic perfectly, and is one of the only few Sonic cartoons based on that 90s anime aesthetic. So if that suits you, then I’d recommend checking out this film on YouTube.
Comics
Now, this is even harder to decide on where to start with when compared to the cartoons. Not only are all the comics not that good, but they are all especially dependent on whatever type of knowledge you have on Sonic. The Archie comics are really only dependent on SatAM, and are cancelled! But the IDW comics are heavily dependent on if you played Sonic Forces, which isn’t that great of a game to begin with if you’re only knowledge of Sonic is based on this new film. But the IDW comics aren’t even on that good of an arc now. The British Fleetway comics aren’t that great either; not only are they ableist (with Super Sonic being “mentally insane” and evil), those comics are also cancelled as well. I really only have one comic series to recommend to beginners, if you can even find them.
Sonic -Mega Drive- (2016) - Made by one of the best writers for the Sonic comics, Ian Flynn, and drawn by the same person who redesigned Sonic for the new film, Tyson Hesse, these are a series of one-shot comics based on the original Sonic games. Very easy to get into, the cast isn’t that large, and overall it’s just a whole lot more appealing than the Archie or current IDW comics! There’s only two issues, with a third one that was cancelled due to SEGA withdrawing the Sonic license from Archie in 2017. If you can find them, I recommend checking them out.
Misconceptions About Sonic the Hedgehog and the Fandom
Now, coming out of the new film, you are really interested in Sonic the Hedgehog, but you already know about a whole lot of misconceptions about Sonic and his fandom, which may turn you off from going into this. So I am here to smash down a lot of those misconceptions, because a majority of them are all wrong, and I’m pretty sure anyone can enjoy Sonic after watching the film.
1. The Sonic Fandom is only full of overgrown babies who complain about all the newer games and only love the old games.
This is an absolutely terrible misconception! This is absolutely not true for the entire fandom, and despite the bias I have towards the 90s Sonic era as seen in this guide, let me say this: There is no one wrong place to start with in terms of games. The Sonic Adventures games are good, Sonic Colors is good, and so is Sonic Generations and Lost World. There is no terrible Sonic game, and if there is, then that game probably has a small fandom of people who see the positives of that game, and only wish to improve on it. You are not wrong if you have an unpopular opinion on any Sonic game, and you can honestly enjoy any Sonic game of your choice. Yes, there are gatekeepers in this fandom, but they are small in numbers when compared to the majority of this fandom. This fandom is absolutely welcoming of any Sonic fan who enjoys any part of Sonic, and if anyone online is making you feel bad about enjoying any part of Sonic, then you can either ignore them or block them. You don’t need to hear their voices, as their voices are only minor when compared to this whole fandom.
But yes, there are people like SammyClassicSonicaFan who do have a bias towards 90s Sonic games, and there are people who have a bias towards the Modern games. But overall, it doesn’t matter what type of games you do enjoy, it’s just that you don’t bully or harm anyone else for enjoying those games. And again, mostly everyone in this fandom are fine with whatever Sonic game you like. Not that many people really bullies anyone in this fandom, and if they do, then again, they are the minority.
2. The Sonic Fandom is full of furries who only draw porn of the characters.
Yet again another terrible misconception about the Sonic fandom! Just because you’re a fan of Sonic, doesn’t make you a furry. I am one of the rare exceptions, though, as I am a Sonic fan, and a furry as well, and Sonic is partially the reason why I am a furry. But overall, I have met Sonic fans who aren’t furries, and I’ve met furries who aren’t Sonic fans.
And to that other half of this misconception; no, just no. Not only are the majority of the cast practically children (Tails is 8, Amy is 12, and Sonic is even 15), a majority of the characters who are 18 or over only barely fit that range (Rogue is 18, Vector is 21), and a majority of adults don’t even have confirmed ages (Dr. Eggman doesn’t even have a canonical age, and there’s been debate over whether Shadow is 15 or over 50 years old). So no, we don’t draw porn, and almost all of us are grossed out when we find Sonic porn (the only exception of this are the creeps who do draw that porn, but we don’t consider them apart of this community).
So there you go! That’s all I could think to mention in this whole guide! I hope you have fun enjoying these shows and games, and I hope you especially have fun in the Sonic community!
If you do have anymore questions about anything related to Sonic, feel free to DM me or send me asks/anons on this blog.

Well... Now we know...
Next Generation gaming console battle between Microsoft and Sony.
(We're still waiting on Nintendo).
XBOX Series X/S releases November 10th.
Playstation 5/Digital releases November 12th.
The Pros and Cons:
XBOX has Backwards Compatibility to First Generation. Game Pass deal, Smart Delivery and More Powerful CPU/GPU.
PLAYSTATION has Games at Launch, Faster SSD load times, and a more Advanced Controller.
Who wins the battle for you? Which console are you getting? Are you pre-ordering or buying day 1?
For me, Microsoft's XBOX wins all the way. Why? I'm most familiar with it (I've never owned a PlayStation). And I have so many Classic and Legacy XBOX games that I want to go back and play and I love that the XBOX Series X offers Backwards Compatibility to First Generation. I KNOW they don't have a lot of New Game Titles at the moment, They literally have NOTHING at Launch... but they're working on adding more and more games as the days go by and that's perfectly fine. I'm satisfied.
As for what Sony's PlayStation offers... Eh... I'm not necessarily bothered about New Game Titles. There's nothing coming that I'm REALLY interested in playing yet. Any recent game titles from the previous generation that I do want are cross-console anyway and Microsoft will eventually acquire it regardless. Other than that, Sony don't offer anything groundbreaking. Any strong playing cards that seal the deal on me switching.
But either way... For me personally, Nintendo will always steal both Microsoft and Sony's thunder. NEXT GENERATION NINTENDO. That's what I'm really excited for! Their GREATEST PRO as far as I'm concerned is that they ALWAYS focus on the GAMING EXPERIENCE. To others, that's a con. But I've always admired that Nintendo refuse to be multi-media and entertainment like all the rest. I've owned every single Nintendo gaming console apart from the Wii U. I'm incredibly loyal to them and believe me..., when their NEXT GENERATION releases... Sony and Microsoft won't even be in my mind anymore.

The Master of Blasting
Months ago, once I realized my Retron had a save-state feature, something got into me. I realized I could go back to old retro games and actually finish them. Sure, I played 100s of games in the 8 & 16-bit eras, but I’ve never been that good at anything with a steep difficulty. Most games of the late-80s, early 90s were punishingly tough and typically, without cheat codes I never got to see the end of them.
After playing through all the old Donkey Kong Country games and Sonic the Hedgehog 1, I turned my eye towards a peculiar series I had only dabbled in before, Blaster Master. With the release of Blaster Master Zero on Switch, I was extra interested in diving into the well-regarded B-tier NES original.
With a little research, I found that a total of 8 Blaster Master games have been released...that’s when the classic Sergio completist kicked in. I convinced myself that I shouldn’t play the new Switch games until I’ve completed all of the retro titles. When I began my journey I didn’t realize it would be such a headache. Here’s my run-through of all the Blaster Master Games.
1988 - Blaster Master (NES)
Ah, the original. This little game has a charm to it that most games of the late 80′s don’t have. It was clearly inspired by Nintendo published games like Metroid and Zelda. Blaster Master’s key gimmick is the ability to play as the armored tank Sophia the 3rd or as an on-foot character named Jason, the pilot of the tank. As needed, Jason jumps out of the tank and enters human-sized doors.
Blaster Master is a 2D platformer, but once Jason enters a door, the game switches to an overhead perspective for navigation through maze-like dungeons. None of the mazes are particularly hard to solve, but all of the game’s bosses are found in these dungeons. As a kid, having a game that completely switched perspectives was rad. I never owned it as a child, but I vividly remember my time with it through rentals and such.
This first game is super hard and I found myself using known glitches to get past the game’s harder boss sequences. In true Metroidvania-style, there’s heavy backtracking throughout Blaster Master and if you don’t know where you’re going getting to the next level can be quite annoying. Having played the whole game, I can finally say that despite a super strong first impression, Blaster Master isn’t that great.
It's WAY too hard and by the halfway point the luster had worn off the unique gameplay. For some reason, this is the point where I decided to dive headfirst into the rest of the Blaster Master games. I’m a glutton for punishment I guess.
1991 - Blaster Master Boy (Game Boy)
Prior to playing the original, I had no idea there were so many titles in this series. I definitely didn’t know there were multiple portable entries. Blaster Master Boy is less a Blaster Master game and more a Bomberman game. Technically its a sequel to the Bomberman spin-off Robo-Warrior. A quick trip over to Youtube can confirm that the gameplay and music are lifted directly from Robo-Warrior. To add even more confusion, in Japan, Robo-Warrior was called Bomber-King, Blaster Master Boy was Bomber-King Scenario 2 and it wasn’t even published by the same company.
Because of this weirdness, I didn’t spend too much time with Blaster Master Boy. It also didn’t help that there isn’t a decently priced copy anywhere on the internet.
1993 - Blaster Master 2 (Genesis)
Five years after the original, Blaster Master returned to the console market with Blaster Master 2. It was a Sega Genesis exclusive and the only title in the series released in the 16-bit era. Playing this immediately after the original really made it quite hard. The controls aren’t as precise and the difficultly level is somehow ratcheted up. Blaster Master 2 is a more straight forward platformer without the backtracking of a traditional Metroidvania.
Unlike the first game, when you enter the human sections of the game, you don’t start a top-down sequence. Instead, the pilot levels are 2D platform shooter areas. All of these seem half-baked, clunky and compared to the game’s contemporaries, quite sad. Fortunately, top-down gameplay wasn’t completely abandoned, before the end of each level there’s an odd top-down sequence, where you pilot Sophia. This mechanic never returns in future games, but taking the rest of the game into consideration, it really isn’t terrible.
Unfortunately, there’s not much good to say about Blaster Master 2, It hits most of the design notes that the first one hits but the entire experience feels like it was made by a completely different team. Funny enough, after saying that, I looked it up and Blaster Master 2 was, in fact, made by a completely different team. Ha!
The game’s only saving grace is its vivid color pallet and solid sprite design. Like the first game, the music solid, but unless you’re taking a trip through the whole series like me, Blaster Master 2 can be skipped.
2000 - Blaster Master: Enemy Below (Game Boy Color)
It took Sunsoft awhile to get around to the Blaster Master series again, but in 2000 they came out swinging. Blaster Master: Enemy Below was released for Game Boy Color and of all the games on this list, it is the game that most resembles the original. Much of the art is designed to look nearly identical to the NES games’, even down to a nearly pixel-perfect recreation of the SOPHIA tank.
The top-down Jason segments return as does the extreme difficulty and fantastic soundtrack. It’s hard to really complain about the execution of this title. It was clearly an attempt at just trying to make the closest thing they could to the original and in many ways, it is a tighter and more consistent experience. Unfortunately, that’s also a strike against it. Enemy Below doesn’t bring anything new to the table. The bosses are basic re-hashes of the originals, the levels feel like a “lost levels” DLC pack and the game being portable doesn’t really encourage innovation.
I guess the coolest thing I can say about Enemy Below is that it's still available for purchase. On the 3DS Virtual Console, you can pick up Enemy Below for about $5. At that price, it’s easy to recommend, especially since it comes with built-in save-state functionality.
2001 - Blaster Master: Blasting Again (Playstation)
Also, released in 2000 (in Japan, 2001 in North America), is the weirdest game in the series to date, Blaster Master: Blasting Again. For those of you too young to remember, the Playstation/N64 era of video games was full of 2D series trying their hand at 3D games. Blasting Again is an egregious example of this frustrating industry trend. You still pilot a tank, with all the same features, like homing missiles, and hover, but you’re dropped into a fully realized 3D world with painfully bad anime cut-scenes.
The “Jason” sequences are still here, but they too are 3D and mundanely boring. Also, with this being an official sequel to the original, you play as Jason’s son Roddy, not Jason. Much of the music from earlier in the series is remixed, and rerecorded, so not all is lost in the odd one-off. Unfortunately, the antiquated tank controls and punishing difficulty makes Blasting Again hard to recommend. I was able to play it on PS3 with no issues, but the toggle switch for the digital and analog controls was initially hard to find.
I ended up sinking about 40 hours into finally beating this tragedy. I wasn’t able to use save states and despite it being objectively bad, I grew to love it’s janky and unfair presentation. As a whole, these games have really tested my ability to control my anger, but Blasting Again was the first one to truly get all the way under my skin.
2010 - Blaster Master: Overdrive (WiiWare)
Notice, I have yet to say any of these games are good, that’s because they aren’t. What they have is a charm to them that conjures the aura of the scrappy beginnings of gaming and the forced appreciation of only owning 4 games that had no checkpoints. Thus far, despite initial misgivings, I’ve enjoyed my time on this journey. Blaster Master: Overdrive is where that joy ended. The fun I was having with the series was taken out back, brutally beaten, and left to die in the town square as an example to anyone daring to play this absolute nightmare.
Overdrive starts innocently enough. It does it’s best to try and evoke the gameplay and tone of the original and for what it's worth the art style isn’t terrible. The Sophia and Jason gameplay loops are in-tact and even the gun-upgrades are more important than ever. Where Overdrive falls apart is its difficulty and embarrassing lack of control options.
I’m sure most of you are at least familiar with the Wii-Remote. With this being a Wii-Ware only game, it could only be played with the Wii-Remote. The real downside is that the developer either ran out of time or opted not to explore the myriad of control options the Wii offered. There’s no classic controller support, no Gamecube controller support, there’s not even a way to map buttons to a nun-chuck. You are stuck playing with the Wii-Remote turned sideways.
This wouldn’t be that big of a deal if they had found a better way to implement strafing into the controls. To strafe, the player must hold the B button. That’s the button underneath the Wii-Remote. In a world where the player is using the remote like an old-school NES controller, B button usage is a legit finger-bending-nightmare. Couple this broken control scheme with punishing difficulty and you have the perfect recipe for rage-quitting. I‘m not proud of my behavior during my time with this game and let’s just say I own 1 less Wii-Remote now.
The last thing I want to say about Overdrive is less about the game itself and more about its availability. The Wiiware marketplace is 100% closed, which means there’s no legit way to purchase this game, outside of buying someone’s Wii who had already bought it. This is an ominous foreshadowing of things to come. I would have paid for this game. Hell, I’m deep enough into this BM adventure I would have paid a premium to play this dumb game, but Nintendo’s shut-down of the Wii-Ware shop is a low-key attack on game preservation that us archivist, CANNOT forget. *steps off of soap-box*
2017 - Blaster Master Zero (Switch/Steam)
With the release of Blaster Master Zero, the series got the most attention it’s had since the original game. Most of that attention was because Zero was basically a launch game for the Switch. The best way to describe Zero is to say that it’s developer Inti’s attempt to take the Blaster Master formula and actually make a decent game. For the most part, they succeed. Oddly enough, almost 30 years later, Zero is the first legitimately good Blaster Master game.
Much like Enemy Below, Zero tries its hardest to evoke the look of the original NES game. Some refer to games like this as pixel art, others refer to it as lazy...I float somewhere in the middle on it. It was great playing a Blaster Master game with a proper controller where the mechanics actually work. However, it was frustrating seeing a game, based on a design aesthetic that hit its ceiling in the late 80s, try to beautify itself. Many attempts were made to make the design stand out, but it just kept hitting the ceiling established by its predecessors.
Alternately, by Inti making the game super-playable, the flaws of the older games stand out even more than before. Typically, good Metroidvania’s have an intuitive way of hinting at where you need to go next or a good way of telling you what access you’re new power-ups give you. Due to Zero’s obsession with evoking the original, that intuitive gameplay is replaced with a red box on the map screen. This turns the game into a “drive to red box, shoot things, drive to next red box and shoot more things, experience”, rather than the naturally explorative nature of other games in its genre. The anime story seemed unnecessary from the start, but I’m sure someone will enjoy it.
While playing Zero I honestly asked myself, “Is this game way easier than the older games, or can I finally control this little tank properly?” I’m sure the real answer is somewhere between those two extremes, but ultimately Zero was a blast, albeit WAY too easy. I’m really looking forward to seeing how the sequel improves upon this wonderful jumping-off point. However, I’m positive I’ll be disappointed that more wasn’t done to bring the series into the modern 2D-platforming space.
2019 - Blaster Master Zero 2 (Switch)
Zero 2 is very much a sequel to Zero. In true anime fashion, the story immediately gets super self-serious and consequently superfluous. I’m sure some players will love the dialog between protagonist Jason and all of the various anime-faced characters, but that’s not what I’m here for. Needless to say, the story gets involved in ways other Blaster Master games haven’t. That’s not a strike against it, it’s just a characteristic that may not actually matter.
All previous mechanics are intact here and new ones are introduced almost immediately. If Zero was truly the first good Blaster Master game, then the refinements introduced in Zero 2 make it...wait for it...THE BEST BLASTER MASTER GAME EVER MADE! It controls well, the levels are interestingly built, and where previous sequels in the series lacked innovation, Zero 2 is full of cool and weird, new stuff. The bosses are fresh and interesting, the Jason sequences have been enhanced with a brand new counter mechanic and the space travel segments add a level of depth not seen in previous games.
I hate that I’m being so positive about the game. It’s been so much fun talking shit about Blaster Master games. Unlike the previous game, developer Inti found a way to modernize the gameplay and still make a genuinely challenging experience. I had trouble with multiple bosses, but never did I feel like the game was unfair, or something was broken. Many of the additions to the story also benefited the gameplay. Something as simple as making the Frog from the original game the reason Jason can immediately leave dungeons serves both the story and gameplay.
This has been a long journey, and the real hero is Inti Creates. Hopefully, Zero and Zero 2 have done well. The work put in by Inti deserves praise. They have perfected a formula that’s been pending since 1988. Both titles are only $10 on the Switch shop, and at that price, you are basically stealing them. Anyone with a Switch has no reason not to pick at least one of them up and check it out.
As for the series itself...I have very mixed feelings. There are very few good Blaster Master games. It's a series that trades in loose nostalgia for a widely forgotten NES game. From that, a bunch of often half-hearted sequels were developed trying to capitalize on the little bit of cache the original game still has. I don’t regret my time with the series and I think more titles deserve the Blaster Master treatment, but subjectively, I wouldn’t recommend anyone pick up any games outside of the original and the 2 newest Switch titles.

Persona Fandom Problems: “Guide to legally buying Persona games so Atlus can see the money” solution 2
So I guess some people didn’t see my first solution guide before, which broke down the rough cost of consoles (except PS4) and the games (which included the cheapest they’ve been at online and the base price available online). Tldr; going a few routes show it’s pretty cheap, esp if you can find the console cheap (the games however you either have to wait for to go down in price, otherwise they can get pricey, personally I expect them to go down again when P5R JPN/Outside JPN releases or maybe even doing it for Halloween/American Thanksgiving/Christmas included in a special it’s just a feeling but since it’s a new Persona game, they usually dock prices when a new Persona game comes out....at least in Japan, in the USA they will dock prices around our big holidays so keep it in mind.). The key is that you kinda have to buy the games digitally now, buy used and Atlus don’t see the money and at that point you could’ve just emulated or watched a let’s play/youtube “movie”.
That being said, it’s not to shame people who emulated (esp the older games), but if you had the money (or even had the console but not the games) it was a good guide to help people get into the game but also in a way that Atlus themselves see it so that it actually helps support the game.....But I’ve seen people getting pissy about this again, first they get mad people aren’t playing the games because it costs money, if you mention emulation, then they get pissy cause now it’s free and Atlus don’t see the money, and now it’s a cycle where you don’t win and are shamed or rushed into losing money.
BUT FEAR NOT! Here I have a new solution! :D One that combines emulation and buying (gasp I know). It’s a lot cheaper (esp if you wait for the digital prices to go down), and/because you don’t even need to buy a console.
And the answer is........Emulate, but buy the game digitally from your PC/Computer to show your support that way. Simple! Alternatively, if you didn’t emulate it but watched a playthrough/walthrough or the anime series (probably illegally but hey anime isn’t cheap, and the games kinda are in comparison), you can still count. (basically, if you watched or played an emulated version of a Persona game or watched an adaptation, and you liked it, then buy it digitally to show support, you don’t need a system to buy it, but consider it payment for the experience). If you didn’t like a certain Persona game after trying it, then I guess you...props shouldn’t pay......which means I guess this post isn’t for you? 8U
Wait wait, I know you have questions: “How much money would the games cost,” “How do I set up an account,” “I’m not from the USA nor Japan for these specials,” That’s ok, under the cut I’ll explain all that stuff for you (if you know what to do from here, then you don’t need to go under the cut 8U)!
First the price of games. The first part listed in bold is what’s the lowest it’s been listed on a sale day (from what I can find) the 2nd number is what it’s currently listed as now for the base price. Now for P3/4 it shouldn’t matter which version you pick, but if you pick P3P and you want to support the FeMC more then pick P3P (same goes for P4G/Arena/Ultimax/Adachi DLC if you want more Adachi). Same tbh same can go for certain DLC stuff too, want more Marie? Buy Marie DLC. Want more Miku in your dancing games? Buy Miku. Want Adachi/Sho? Buy their DLC too! Want more Margaret? Buy her DLC in Arena/Ultimax (iirc it’s one of those two if not both, it’s been a hot minute ok? ;w;). I won’t be listing DLC, they don’t usually go on sale iirc, but feel free to explore on the website. (but yeah bold is the lowest I’ve SEEN/could find evidence of it go down in price, if there isn’t a price before “/” it’s because I can’t remember what the sale price was like 3+ years ago and the internet doesn’t have the number available for that time, but there have been sales on ALL the games so far)
Games (all PS3/PSP/PSVita/PS4, in rough release order)
Persona 1 (PSP, $/19.99)
Persona 2: Innocent Sin (PSP, $/19.99 )
Persona 2: Eternal Punishment (PS1 classic, $3.99/9.99)
Persona 3 FES (PS2 classic, $5.99/9.99)
Persona 3 Portable (PSP, $/19.99 )
Persona 4 (PS2 classic, $5.99/9.99)
Persona 4 Golden (Vita, $/19.99 )
Persona 4: Arena (PS3, $/14.99)
Persona 4: Ultimax (PS3, $/19.99, or if you have PS+ during the month it was free, then it is free for you and you save about $20).
Persona 4: Arena Story mode (Ultimax DLC, $9.99, aka you get the story of Arena and Ultimax for $29.98 instead of $34.98)
Persona 5 (PS3/PS4, $ 13.99/19.99) (ultimate edition, 50.99/84.99
Persona Dancing All star triple pack (only way to get PS4 ver of P4D btw): /$59.99
Persona 3: Dancing in Moonlight (Vita or PS4, $/39.99 or 59.99)
Persona 5: Dancing in Starlight (Vita or PS4, $/39.99 or 59.99)
Persona 4: Dancing All Night (Vita, $/24.99 )
P5R (PS4, $59.99, place holder)
Now onto the PSN account. If for some reason you don’t have a US/JPN account, and your country PSN doesn’t have any of these games then make a US/JPN one. US and JPN tend to have deals on these (not sure about other countries again).
For Sony you can easily make one at this website, (if you can’t access Persona games digitally from your country, check this post on how to make an account from another country, it also tells you where to go on purchasing foreign PSN Currency if the account isn’t where you are from). The website and doing it on the Playstation are roughly similar (the video is assuming you are doing it on the PSN), so I wouldn’t worry too much.
Now I know I didn’t list the PQ games....and that’s because.....I dunno if you can buy them digitally from the Eshop website. You can if you have a 3DS buuuuuuuut.....that’s....not going to help......if you don’t have a 3DS....and you had to emulate or watch it.....If there’s a way I can’t seem to find it so sorry ;w;
But yeah that’s basically it, if you are a fan of the game you like you should buy it. But you should buy it in a way that it actually means supporting it (aka not buying used). Give Atlus the numbers, and let your money do the talking. Lastly, I have a veeeeeery big feeling that these digital games will go on sale when P5R is released. If that does happen, I’ll make a separate post with links to the JPN pages.
#persona 1#persona 2#persona 3#persona 4#persona 5#i need to stop starting posts only to have them sit in drafts for weeks#i've had the poor manga and SMT game guide (that one is so small ;w; orz) in my drafts for months too#but literally had only a line or two left to type and I put it off fldskja;lfjlk;adjf;a#and again i've bought all MegaTen games post P4(PS2) first run (except DeSu 2 on DS ;w;) so don't @ me on this#I'd buy P4(PS2) and anything prior first run but I didn't get into the series till it was too late for that#And I made up for all of that buying the Digital versions on PS3 and DeSU 2 (3DS remake) 8U#And starting with P4D I started importing JPN versions too#hopefully this stops the stupid debate#btw SMT/other megaten games don't have the same kind of luxury since we either 1) can't buy digital to show support and used is the only way#or emulating or 2) they never released outside Japan soooooo to experience it people have to emulate a rom with a fantranslation#i know people are usually targeting P1/2 fans when it comes to this argument#keep in mind that p1/2 has deep roots in emulation because it was YEARS before we got the ports#it's similar to other SMT games that have to be emulated#but oof poor SMT/Megaten ;w; we all better come together and just buy TMS and SMTV when they come out

Here some more headcannons of my Sanders Sides Gamer AU nobody wanted!!!
Here’s part 1 if you missed it or just want to look over!
Background Time!!!
They’re all childhood friends that live in the same neighborhood. Patton and Duncan live in between Logan’s and Remy’s houses and Emile, Virgil, and Roman live across the street (in that order).
They had at first been forced to hang out by their parents and they really tried to get along (well, at least Patton and Emile) but they were all just too different.
But then one day on Emile’s birthday older brother gave him his old PlayStation plus all three Spyro games and he immediately set off to play it.
This of course caught the attention of the other boys (who had been dragged to the party by their parents) and timidly asked what other games he liked.
And that’s how they all found similar ground to work off and become friends, they all got along swimmingly after that. Remy showed the group an old GameBoy he had that his older sister repaired for him. Virgil talked about all the computer games his dad showed him how to play. Roman showed off his Magic The Gathering cards that were basically like video games in real life (so he said). The twins said they had a Game Cube and invited everyone over to play Mario Kart. Logan timidly said that he liked Pokemon which got an enthusiastic reply from everybody: I LOVE POKEMON!!!
So, yeah, the rest was history. Of course they’re all good friends but it seemed like Remy, Emile, and Duncan got along best and tended to hang out more while Logan, Roman, Virgil, and Patton did the same. They all still like to get together and hang out but they have their main group that’s real tight knit.
Fun Facts!!!
Note: they’re all in high school and around 16-17 years of age.
Logan hates Navi with the burning passion of a thousand suns! I know how to open a fucking door!!!
Virgil actually really likes Luigi’s Mansion because of the cheesy spooky aesthetic and he can relate to Luigi’s constant anxiety.
Roman and Emile have tag teamed and binged played through all the classic Disney games with NO cheats. Including the impossible Lion King game!
Patton played The Stick of Truth and The Fractured But Whole even though people kept saying he wouldn’t like it because it was too raunchy. He ended up loving them and lending them out to Roman.
Roman likes the series well enough but prefers The Fractured But Whole because of the smoother combat system.
Remy has played through the entirety of The Mother series but refuses to replay them because they still kind of freak him out.
Emile does a lot of video game fan art and often does commissions online.
Virgil is pretty straight faced and steady when it comes to playing horror games with jump scares but Logan is a fucking wall! It’s freaky how he doesn’t even flinch or show any sort of reaction towards anything!
Duncan also really likes sports games too, especially the FIFA series. He’s pretty good at them too, he has no idea why though.
Roman cried for two days straight after playing Valiant Hearts. The others didn’t understand why until they played the game for themselves then joined Roman in his depressed blanket fort.
Logan was obsessed with Clash of Clans! Then PokemonGo came out and he proceed to highhandedly take over ALL the gyms in their area.
Emile learned to play all the band songs from Night In The Woods on the ukulele. Patton begged him to teach him! They put on a mini concert together.
Roman knows the how to play piano so sometimes he joins them in their video game jam sessions.
Duncan one time just came barging into Logan’s room and slammed down Super Mario Galaxy in front of him and demanded he play it. They did not see Logan for hours afterwards.
Duncan does this a lot actually, he finds games he knows his friends would like, buys it, tracks his friend down, and orders them to play it. They usually do, if they aren’t still playing something, because Duncan always somehow knows what they like.
Virgil played Welcome to the Game 1 & 2 and was paranoid for a week and refused to sleep alone beCAUSE WHAT IF THEY COME TO STEAL MY ORGANS ROMAN!!!
Remy still has his GameBoy and convinced his sister to teach him how to repair new and old game consoles. He then in turn taught Logan (because he’s a nerd and wants to know everything) in exchange that he teach Remy how to fix up and assemble PCs and computers.
They are now each of their squads tech advisers and are usually the go to guys when it comes to rearing, installing, or debugging stuff.
Remy also likes a lot of tap games for phones like: Tap Titan, Battle Cats, and Free Flow.
Enter Player 2: Thomas Sanders!
They hang out a lot at this game/comic/novelty store called Rainbow Bird Games (and sorts) the parentheses are in small letters underneath.
Obviously it’s owned and run by Thomas and his friends. They have an appreciation for games and all things geek culture but also what to provide a safe place for LGBTQ+ youth.
It’s a mediumish two story building squished between a dry cleaning business and coffee shop located in a small plaza.
The first floor is dedicated to all things games be it video games, bored games, or card games. They have a few refurbished arcade games scattered about, good to play for a quarter and they host a lot of gaming competitions and meet ups. Like for DnD, Magic: The Gathering, Smash Bro tournaments, etc.
The second floor is dedicated to any thing comic, movie, or tv shows related. They have a wide selection of comics you can read and little lounging areas you can read them in. If you can’t find something you like you can always ask the front desk and more then likely the next time you come around it’ll be there waiting.
Obviously, Remy found it first because it’s near a coffee shop (and he knows all the BEST coffee spots) and peeks in out of curiosity. He geeks out over all the cool stuff the store has before racing back home and dragging Emile and Duncan over.
They proceed to geek out as well and like the soft bro he is Duncan immediately texts Patton about it. Soon enough everyone’s there and it becomes their permanent hangout spot/part time job because Thomas grows to likes these kids and could always use the help.
Roman helps organize tournaments and events because he’s good with advertising and crowed. Virgil and Duncan help stock and organize things as well as keep inventory. Patton and Emile man the cash register/front desk. Remy and Logan are IT support and repair.
Roman sometimes asks Duncan to help host events when it involves a younger audience because he’s surprisingly the best with kids.
The store wasn’t all that popular before the boys came in but now with more help and a younger perspective to help bring in more clientele business is going smoothly.

(Mini) Genesis does, what Nintendon’t - a proper Sega Mega Drive Mini review!
EN
As you guys, gals and girls know, I’m a HUGE retro 8/16 bit video game system fan, because when I was a child, I couldn’t afford, let alone buy myself such a great gaming device. Besides, my love for Mario and Sonic comes from this time period, when I was only 4 or 5 years old. I still can good remember, how awesome the americanized-japanese version of the Sega Mega Drive was!
Yeah, this ad never gets old! ;)
Fast forward 30 years later (this system came out on the 4th of October 2019) and I got the chance to buy (with my own earned money!) a classic collection of the finest 40 games from the Sega Mega Drive (Mini) era! And boy, is this video game system awesome!
A close-up of the incarnated version of the Mega Drive.
And a throughout comparision to my OG Mega Drive from the year 1990! It’s soooo tiny and small!!! ^^
In the package, you get an HDMI cable, 2 controllers, one console and a power cable. You set everything up, chose the play language and are greeted by the menu screen and the catchy music. In the menu, you can also change the screen size. I always pick the big screen size, because I’m not a fan of those ugly black bars. But still, wow, they made the big screen mode just absolutely right!!
The console, hooked up on my TV and in big screen mode.
The other thing that this company (I think it was M2) made the emulation absolutely nailed it is the speed of the emulation! I can clearly remember, how slow the sound of Sonic 1 was when I got it, together with the forementioned OG Mega Drive, on my 30th anniversary birthday. The sound was really slow. But in this version, nope, the sound and gameplay are ultra-fast (playing in 60 fps is really a charm for yout eyes!), just like Sonic would love it! ;)
Just look at the gameplay speed!
Now that’s what I call “gotta go fast!” :D
Another thing I like about this device is the fact that the buttons are really soft to touch. But not only that, they are also very responsive. No input lag at all!
All in all, it’s a great video game system, one that every retro fanboy (myself included!) should have or should buy for his kids for christmas. In comparasion with the Playstation Classic, that just wanted to get money out of the classic games, this is quite the opposite of it - they wanted to preserve those gems of games. And they did an awesome job in doing that!
(This console will be used for next years 2020 Virtualna Retro Arena in the movie theater in Idrija - just need to buy two wirelles controllers and hack it once it’s public!)
9/10
The good:
+ Retro fine design
+ Very small, almost pocketable.
+ 40 great games + 2 bonus games.
+ Has an HDMI output.
+ (Really) fast emulation and smooth controls.
The BAD:
- Quite a steep price.
- Where’s Sonic 3, NBA Jam or Mortal Kombat 2?
- At the time of this review (8. October 2019), it’s not being hackable ATM.
DE

I apologize the dash was meant to signify 1 through 5.^^U
It’s fine don’t worry hehe I should’ve read it better, well I’ll answer the rest now then! ^_^
2: What’s your dream pet? (Real or not)
Honestly I don’t think I’d be able to take care of a pet due to school and stuff BUT let’s say I was in a situation where I can have pet then uhh,,, maybe a cute lil doggy? I’d also love to have eevee because I used to be obsessed with Pokemon when I was younger lol
3: Do you have a favorite clothing style?
Well, as for what I usually wear it’s kinda all over the place. Like one day I go to school with a full face of make up, a cute skirt and a top and the next day I couldn’t care less and wear just a t-shirt and jeans lmao. But I honestly really love Japanese cute clothing in general, it’s always really pastel and just so cute uwu if only I could pull that off. Ido if there’s a specific name for it tbh but just the kawaii stuff and I don’t mean lolita hehe. And just generally girly clothing is something I love as well and wow I’m rambling so I’ll stop now (≧∇≦)
4: What was your favorite video game growing up?
I vaguely remember playing this game on my dad’s PlayStation 2 that was all about Disney princesses and I’d literally be OBSESSED with it, I would play it and finish it and start it over again and just uwu I loved it. Also, any classical Nintendo game I also adored while growing up. Sadly, my mom gave away my Nintendo 3ds along with almost every game I had :,( I had to buy a new one djdjdjd but yeah I used to play games like that when I was little
Also I’m almost 17 so I feel like I’m still kinda growing up arent I? Welp either way I don’t play many video games anymore except the pokemon heartgold game I managed to save and super mario bros hehe... dang I lowkey want to play again now
