not gonna do one of those "year in review" art things. but i will say this, even though this was a tough year, im really happy and the things i did end up drawing. lots of little things and comics. just doodles and the occasional piece. just things that made me happy. next year i want to continue that, i just wish and hope i'll continue to draw and that i'll make things i genuinely enjoy. i wanna go into 2024 with a smile. :)

Hello again and happy new year!! ❤️ We're entering 2025!
It's probably not midnight yet for a lot of you folks, but it is January 1st for me in my timezone!
Thank you for all your support throughout 2024. I know I haven't been as active as before, but I appreciate those of you have stuck around regardless! I wish you all a wonderful new year, and let's continue enjoying the moment together!
🎉
Tumblr media
And of course, a yearly artist summary is needed..
Tumblr media
Overall, I'm quite satisfied for this year's art! With the experience I got from 2023, I could finally match my skill level with the ideas I came up with and push my limits.
Now that I've kinda gotten the basics down, in 2025 I want to start making a presence for myself! What does that mean? Well, I'd like to:
1. Post more variety (Sketches, snippets of writing)
2. Improve more (Use references, do stuff :P)
3. Have fun!!! (Do whatever I like :D)
These are my goals for 2025. I hope I can work on them steadily!! See you next year 🌟
Extra (I just want to shout out my favourite projects from this year!)
"Wonderland in the sky" (January for the art summary) is currently sitting at a whopping 700-or-so notes! I was really proud of it since it's my first animated art. Thank you for the love!
Also, I loved participating in Marxolor Week 2024! I never thought that a ship week for my favourite characters could actually come into fruition, but I'm so glad it did! Co-managing it was a blast, and I loved seeing everyone's beautiful art. Special thanks to Dess for organising the whole thing and making "Marxolor Day" real!
(Though, I did push myself a little too hard to finish the art... avoiding that next time ^^')
Last but certainly not least, a very, very special thank you to everyone who supported Darling Dance! It was a very tough and time-consuming project, but I'm so happy with the final result (^^)
My personal goal for it was 1000 views, and it's currently sitting at 1272! If there's one thing I really hope I can do in 2025, it's making another MV.
That's a wrap for now! Thank you for reading all that text, I just had so many things I want to say!! And thank you for enduring through all the thank yous! There's very few words that can describe my gratitude towards everyone that's ever looked at or complimented my work.
It's 4AM, so I'm gonna dip out now... Sweet dreams and once again, Happy New Year 🎉🌟💕

2024 Book Review #71 – The City and the City by China Mieville
Tumblr media
Mieville is one of those authors whose influence and artistic shadow I’m far more familiar with than the guy himself or his actual work. I read Perdido Street Station years and years ago (quite good, not as clever as it thinks it is and has let’s say Issues with gender, I would have been better served reading it without knowing all the hype) and I got about halfway into Railsea at some point in university (a great central aesthetic and cute conceit sadly does not sustain an entire book of otherwise uninspired pastiche), and otherwise? I’ve just read and enjoyed far more stuff that cites him as an inspiration or is writing in the whole New Weird tradition (name now at least a decade out of date) that he was one of the big names establishing. So this is me doing a bit to rectify that imbalance, and also trying to fail a bit less comically at my literary fiction reading goal before the year ends. It served both ends neatly, and as a bonus was even a pretty decent read.
Tyador Borlu is a detective of the Extreme Crime Squad in the vaguely Balkan city-state of Beszel who, as detectives in novels inevitably due, gets himself hopelessly entangled in the case of a young woman murdered under murky and improbable circumstances. The investigation leads inevitably to the conclusion no one wants to deal with – that this is a cross-border case, and that Tyador will need to chase the trail of corruption and conspiracy into the neighbouring and overlapping city of Ul Quoma. Only by working with officers from both the mirrored cities police forces is there any hope at all to get to the truth beyond all the hints of a secret conspiracy pulling the strings of both and murdering to cover its tracks.
Which is to say, this is a fairly standard detective story plot that often seems there mostly to explore, poke at, and examine the implications of the lovingly detailed high concept setting. Beszel and Ul Qoma are the true stars of the show here – two cities with their own languages, cultures, histories and governments, even their own borders and economic trajectories, that by odd coincidence happen to cover the same geographical area. A Beszel street might run along an Ul Qoman park, and but every driver on it would simply unsee the families enjoying themselves walking or playing in it. They do not notice the rattling of a train in a another city merely because it happens to run directly above their apartment – or if they do, they’re trained and educated since birth to show absolutely no sign of it. The two cities are separate and foreign to each other, no matter the fact that their residents walk by each other on busy streets every day. This is enforced by popular agreement, by centuries of tradition and, n a pinch, by Breach – the shadowy and opaque secret police empowered and respected by the authorities of both cities as an independent and almost occult boogeyman, there to keep the two nations firmly separated from each other.
Which is an absurd and fantastical a premise as any of Mieville’s other books on the face of it, but he really has put in the work here. The cultures of the two cities both seem real and distinct, and painstacking care has been taken figuring out exactly how all this would work day-to-day with mid-2000s technology. It’s still asking for some heavy suspension of disbelief, to be sure – but once you accept the premise the book never does anything to really throw you out of it with egregious implausibility. If everyone wanted things to work like they’re presented as, if feels like they probably could – and the ways they couldn’t are each acknowledged and given some level of justification or another (or, if not, made into whole plot points).
So yes, this is a very Theme-First novel. It’s never really didactic, and one absolutely never gets the sense of Mieville getting up on a soapbox to lecture at you, but then he really doesn’t have to. The setting makes the point about nationalism – about how lethally hard and sharp borders that exist only in the human mind can be – quite clearly without too much elaboration. Which is really my preference for getting these things across.
In the interview at the end of the book that I very lightly skimmed through, Mieville calls this fundamentally a crime novel more than anything else, which feels difficult to disagree with. It’s honestly kind of fascinating to see his politics – which generally come through quite loud and clear. Read Perdido Street Station and then take one guess what stance his history of the Russian Revolution takes – get absolutely buried under the expectations and requirements of a hardboiled police mystery. There’s still the same cynicism towards political establishments and assumption of corruption as always, but it’s frankly weird to read the avowed Trotskyite write a story where the happy ending is the protagonist is recruited into the secret police. Or just all the blase matter-of-fact narration about the use and usefulness of beating prisoners, informants providing private records on demand, a general surveillance state, and so on. It’s all of a piece with the rest of the genre’s trappings, of course – the general cynical view of the world, the fact that the most personally admirable character is the girl whose already dead on page 1, and the fact that the books central relationships are three different iterations of the natural and sacred bond between a cop and his partner. The genre emulation is really pretty note-perfect, and I’m not quite sure if this is good in terms of getting out of the way and letting the themes and setting taking centre stage or if it ends up muddling and confusing them.
It does save the book from the very common failure state of setting-heavy novels that end up feeling like tourism brochures, at least.
Truthfully the most interesting part of reading this for me was how the ~15 years since publication have left it feeling like a bit of a period piece. The whole vibe of the book and the Europe it presents is just incredibly mid-aughts in ways both obvious and hard to explain. The Twin Cities themselves, of course – the whole conceit obviously owes a lot to the collapse of Yugoslavia and the wars that followed (the talk about the difference between the cities’ languages feels like it was taken 1:1 from people talking about Serbian and Croatian), with more than a dash of divided Berlin in inspiratio n (it seems less than accidental than the more Western and pro-American Beczel has a much more Germanic vocabulary for things whereas Ul Qoma is a melange of Slavic and Turkish). There is, throughout the book, a sense that these carefully and lovingly maintained divisions between cities and peoples are an anachronism, a rough spot that cannot long withstand being smoothed out by the homogenizing tides of globalization and the convenience of international commerce. More directly – the backdrop to the plot is the economic boom a former Eastern Bloc state is going through since opening itself up enthusiastically to foreign (western) investment, and the plot itself involves a corrupt conspiracy between a pro-business Social Democrat, an American tech company, and the easily duped ultranationalist thugs as muscle. It all speaks so deeply to the assumptions and trends of the world that hadn’t quite shaken off the hangover of the Cold War and for which the Great Financial Crisis was still over the horizon.
Even the book’s portrayal of politics has this feel. The vaguely-alt-left Unificationists and the assorted far-right ultranationalists are all portrayed as hopeless lost-causers; potentially dangerous (more the latter than the former) and useful tools in the hands of those who know what they’re doing, but on their own nothing but bitter old men and deluded kids who refuse to accept how the world works – radicals who the real powers leave be because they have infiltrators in every group, and anyway if they ever had a chance of success they’d be rolled up before they even realized it. Real power is the chamber of commerce and the established parties, the police apparatus and foreign corporations – the avatars and defenders of capital and the status quo. Even the plot itself – the revelation that the secret conspiracy which might overthrow everyone’s understanding of their history and their nations is just a smuggling operation that’s gotten out of control preying on the naivete and idealism of a young genius – feels so very End of History. It’s kind of charming, really.
Anyway yes – enjoyable read. Never really set me on fire and nothing about it has really gotten stuck in my head? But glad I read it, and have no real complaints about doing so.

Hello,
Here is the life update of my past 4 years.
Tumblr media
I began this blog many years ago in 2012 when I was only 14 years old, and I then slowly gained the courage to start posting art at 17 when I joined the K fandom. It's wild to think that I am now 25!
I was never quite consistent in posting since I only shared my art here whenever I felt like it, but it slowed down ever so gradually to basically 1 post a year for Yata’s birthday. This blog helped me with my fear of showing my art to others as I was incredibly embarrassed of my work for a really long time.
I soon moved to the USA from my homeland and attended animation school for 1 year, and then studied illustration and visual development for 4 years and I managed to accomplish many things I never could have imagined. I graduated with honors this past May, was selected by the faculty and head of department as my major’s trustee scholar, completed my 84-page art book thesis, got a few pieces into the Society of Illustrators, and my school even shot a mini docu-film about me, my art and my life where I got to share my upbringing. Art school was very demanding and at times tough but I managed to get a lot out of it :)
In July of this year, I moved to California from Florida and I’m much happier than I’ve ever been. I come from a very small country so I never expected to get this far in the art world. I drew Yata for fun in my bedroom whenever I wanted to and now I’m in LA breaking into the animation industry (receiving my first credit too!)
the drawings I share here are a very very small part of the illustrations I make weekly. I wish I could share them with everyone as I’m very proud of them but I enjoy separating my fandom life from my real life a little too much! Surprisingly I am working as a background artist at the moment despite never drawing backgrounds in this blog lol. I think many of you would be surprised at how different my work is from irl!!
It hasn’t always been great, so I don't want to make it seem like it's been all perfect. I’ve had many hard times too and at the moment I am extremely homesick since I haven't returned home in a long time but I think these are needed sacrifices.
However, I'm excited for 2024. I'm looking forward to growing as an artist and my goal is to continue to have fun with art as much as I have right now. I think I’m lucky to have a great support system including my best friend @fuurais who has been by my side for 10+ years and I managed to convert into a K artist too <3
Thank you for the support, for the kind messages, and for the excitement every time I post. I am always happy when I think of this blog and the friends I made. I unironically think about Yata every day as he is past being my comfort character tbh. I am currently writing this with full-on orange hair that I've had for a few years now lol.
I don’t think I’ll be as active as I was at 17 but I will try to not ghost this blog completely. There are a lot of things I haven’t drawn yet that I really want to do and I'd love to share those drawings with everyone.
Lots of love -
Tael <3

Fic Writer End of Year Round-up!!
(belated but whatever) Answer and then tag 3 or more creators to keep the game going!!
I was tagged by @skyfallscotland and @littedidyouknow 🥰🥰🥰
1. How many words did you publish on AO3 in 2024?
365,883!
2. How many fics did you complete this year?
16!
3. How many in-progress or currently ongoing fics did you start this year?
Only one WIP for me as of right now, my baby In The Heat Of It All. This is a good time to announce that there won’t be any updates during January in all likelihood.
4. What was your favorite thing you wrote?
Show Me Yours. It feels the most mine of all my fics, and I absolutely wrote it for me.
5. What piece was your most experimental or different from your usual style?
I’m not super experimental overall, since I generally know what POV/tense I like, and I don’t stray from that, but I feel like the International Incident series was pretty experimental in that it was actually erotica, and I’d never done that before!
6. Did any of your fics surprise you, either while writing or with their reception?
To Hate And To Hold had an insane reception that I was not expecting at all. I think a general rule is that the fics *I* like the most are not the fics that everyone else seems to like the most, but it was crazy to see in real time, especially with a one shot.
7. Do you have a fic you wrote and loved that went under the radar? (This is your sign to reblog/repost it!)
In The Heat Of It All has been consistently flying under the radar for whatever reason, which makes me so sad because it’s absolutely my best work. Foreign Affairs also definitely flew under the radar, but maybe this is an anti masturbation fandom, IDK.
8. Who is an artist that inspired you?
I love @essjaywrites drawing of Rhi and Vi’s fridge here! I haven’t quite gotten around to reading this fic yet, but I love the representation of their friendship, and I think about it loads!!
9. Who is an author that inspired you?
All my brainstorming over the last few months has involved the lovely miss @maethologies, and she inspires me so much. Genuinely, y’all would not have gryphon rider x without her, or the end of OTRA, or the latter half of kinktober.
10. Who is a new author you discovered?
Literally all of you with when I joined the fandom, LOL, but special shout out to @justallihere. I’m so grateful for Storm In The Quiet and all the other wonderful writing she’s given us. SITQ was a really bright light last spring when I needed it ❤️
11. Did you do any collaborations? How did it start?
Technically, no. However! @maethologies and I have been. pounding ideas back and forth for an AU we are co-writing via DM, and we both have written pieces of the full fic!! That counts, I think. I think I’ll keep how it started top secret for now, though…
12. What accomplishments are you most proud of?
I was re-reading my journal yesterday, from around the time I wrote Of Mothers and Storms, and I said there how happy I was to be writing something more stress free after dealing with some of my original stuff. I’m so proud that I found that happiness again, and I’ve been really working on figuring out how to make that feeling more sustainable.
13. What did you learn about writing and creating this year?
Writing and posting are SEPARATE activities!
14. Any advice you’d like to share with new or aspiring writers?
Get words on the page!! My most practical advice is that when whatever I’m writing scares me, I shut my eyes. Do it scared. Also, sprints! Also, finding friends who you can send snippets to!!
15. What are you creative goals for 2025?
Top secret! 🤫
I’m not tagging anyone because I am so very late, but if anyone still wants to jump in, do it!! and tag me!! It was so lovely seeing everyone’s contributions. Happy new year!!

✨ Hwang In-ho (The Front Man)✨
- You and In-ho met under unconventional circumstances. He first noticed you during a Squid Game selection process, intrigued by your quiet yet determined energy.
- In-ho would admire your goal-oriented personality and be fascinated by your dream of becoming a paramedic. He’d find your dedication inspiring, even if he rarely admitted it outright.
- Despite his cold exterior, he’d secretly enjoy hearing you talk passionately about music and your favorite artists, especially Arctic Monkeys. He’d start recognizing some of their songs because of you.
- In-ho would have a soft spot for your creative pursuits, occasionally sneaking a look at your sketches or poems. He’d even give subtle compliments like, “You’re quite talented,” when he thought you weren’t paying attention.
- He’d appreciate your love for dark red and might surprise you with something in that color, like a small charm or token to carry with you.
- In-ho would notice your tendency to hyperfixate and gently encourage it, handing you books or materials related to your interests.
- He’d tease you about your plushie collection but secretly admire how it represents your softer side, even slipping a new one onto your bed when you weren’t looking.
- In-ho would respect your loyalty and forgive your moments of selfishness, recognizing that your heart is in the right place
- He’d relate to your love of cold temperatures, keeping his surroundings cool just for you.
- Movie nights with him would exclusively feature horror films, where he’d sit stoically while you enthusiastically analyzed every scene.
- He’d share your love for 80s culture, surprising you with little facts or trivia from the decade.
- You’d bring out his playful side, making him laugh unexpectedly with your Jake Peralta-like humor.
- In-ho would open up to you in quiet moments, sharing his regrets and allowing you to see the vulnerable man behind the mask.
- He’d protect you fiercely, ensuring your safety in the chaotic world around him.
- Random moments would catch him off guard—your shag haircut, your obsession with Arctic Monkeys, —and he’d find himself smiling more than he thought possible.
- In-ho’s confession would be understated yet meaningful, like handing you a mixtape of your favorite songs with a simple, “You mean more to me than I can explain.”
- Your relationship would thrive on understanding and loyalty, with him providing the stability and calm you need while you bring warmth and light into his life.
- With him, every day would feel like a quiet but meaningful adventure, filled with shared passions, small surprises, and unwavering support.

Hello, beautiful people!
Fae is here once again with a bit of an announcement! While I’m doing my best to finish the new chapter of Path of Alfheim before New Year’s Eve (and that’s still the goal), I have quite a bit left to write still. Unfortunately it doesn’t even include the proofreading and edits I’ll need to tackle once the draft is complete (those are non-negotiables, I'm not giving you a half-assed chapter). So, at this rate there’s a good chance I won’t hit the exact deadline I originally set (I'M REALLY SORRY!!). BUT rest assured—the chapter will absolutely be posted at the beginning of January.
Aside from that, I would like to address something very important in this particular post.
And that is the lack of consistent updates since July 2024. Originally, my schedule was to release a chapter per month, and I even considered posting twice a month if possible. However, a significant reason for this inconsistency has been starting a new job—one I began in August 2024, and one I’ve now officially quit. (YAY!!🥳)
Though I'm beyond happy to be free of that place, even if I need employment to support myself, let me serve as a cautionary tale to every artist out there: NEVER set foot in a casino, whether to work or to gamble. For the love of whatever higher power you believe in... avoid it at all costs. I have never felt more drained, overworked, and physically crippled by a job than I did working as a croupier (and trust me, I've worked a lot of jobs). These establishments are quite literally designed to drain your energy and spirit. And in my case it absolutely sucked my soul out. I am actually sick as I'm writing this, and I have been sick for the last 2 weeks.
I strongly believe that this job played a major role in affecting my ability to write consistently and passionately, as I originally did when I started this project. Between 48-hour work weeks and predominantly night shifts, my energy and focus were completely drained.
When I began this project in November 2023, I was so inspired that by New Year’s Eve, I had already published five chapters. Chapter 5 in particular might be the most visited part of the story out of everything I've published yet, and I wrote it overnight... Need I say more?
As I’ve mentioned before, I am a performing artist.
Though I've never elaborated before, mainly for the sake of privacy, allow me to do so now: I have a degree in Acting & Performance. I have over 10 years of stage experience across various disciplines, including acting, dancing, singing, and cosplay. I'm a die-hard nerd, an amateur writer, and most of the time, an absolute train wreck but above all I know my purpose on this Earth is to produce as much art as possible. This project is undoubtedly a part of that mission.
While things are still up in the air for me—and I’ll need to find another job soon—this time, it will be in the creative field. My CV is packed with jobs I never wanted but had to take in order to support myself.
I’m determined to change that.
I hope you’ll stick around to see this story progress once more, as it’s meant to. I’m still replenishing my energy and finding my footing, but I’ve removed one massive obstacle from my path. Let’s just say you might want to brace yourselves for the biggest comeback of the year.
Thank you for your continued support, love, and patience. It truly means the world to me, as I've said over a thousand times by now but I'll never stop saying it.
I’ll catch up on any comments left under Path of Alfheim or on this blog during my working-like-a-dog era as soon as possible.
But for now, I’m thrilled to say I got out—and I’m feeling better than ever.

(Very Slight Spoilers) The Cruel Prince by Holly Black - Review
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Book 1 out of 10 of my goal for 2025! (Kinda cheating since I finished half in 2024, but oh well)
Rating: 4/5
Things I liked:
The worldbuilding of Faerie is great - This world is very easy to get quickly invested in and is quite magical when you begin doing so.
I'm extremely hungry for more Cardan and Jude - Despite their interest in one another not being the most convincing, I oddly find myself wanting to see their relationship develop so badly.
Each of the sisters have their own personality - Despite going through the same trauma, each of the sisters have different reactions to it and it paints them as individuals with a lot of depth.
The end of the book will have you wanting more because of how good it is - The end of the book made me want more from the series, so I will for sure be reading the other books down the line. It ended with that almost "high" and "inspired" feeling that one might get at the end of a powerful movie.
Holly does a few non-traditional artistic things - There are three distinct moments in the book when Holly seems to break away and just experiment with more non-traditional literary devices. The first is when she makes Chapter 1 only one sentence. The second is when she includes the page with "Jude" written on it and the blood after chapter 14. The third is when she suddenly notes that the second half of the book is "book 2" and includes a W.B. Yeats quote. Each of these things were completely unnecessary for Holly to do, but their presence adds a bit of occasional fun for the reader.
The fact that Vivi is queer is not made into a huge deal - As a queer person, I love that this fact about Vivi wasn't drawn out or made into a huge ordeal. Often times, when queer representation is done, even when it is not a central theme of the story, it is drawn out into something that is a big deal. In this story, it is simply stated and nothing more. This is beautiful because it works to make Vivi's queer relationship "normal" and not estranged from the non-queer relationships in the book.
Things I didn't like:
The beginning is great and the end is great, but the middle gives us nothing - I started this book out loving it! I wanted to keep reading, as it was very intriguing. However, the middle of the book caused me to put it away for some time. It feels drawn out. It might be hard for some readers to pick it back up. It then also causes the end to feel a bit rushed, despite it being incredibly engaging.
I wanted more Cardan - I wanted to see more Cardan throughout the first half of the book. It would make the enemies to lovers pipeline much more believable than it was. I also wanted more Cardan at the end. Why only have them kiss once? Why not kiss at the end? I was deeply unsatisfied. Why call the book "The Cruel Prince" if it never seems to be about said prince?
Jude pisses me off sometimes - I wish she had just a little more of a consideration and understanding for the people around her. She is very selfish and seems to only do things for her pleasure and moral standings. I wish every once in a while she could look outside of herself a bit more.
The immortality of the Fae needs to be better described - I got really confused once the members of the Fae started to be killed. I assumed they were immortal to all forms of death and had to google to find out that their "immortality" only meant that they would not die of age or disease, but could still die of killing.
I want the scenery to be visually described more - For such a beautiful world, I feel like we needed more descriptions of it. They were occasionally there, but I had a hard time envisioning how things looked in my head. The only things I could imagine well were the characters because I had seen the official art for them.
Overall thoughts:
The series of books itself seems promising, as the worldbuilding is beautiful and the characters are intriguing. However, as a standalone book, it leaves me wanting much more. It's biggest flaw is needing much more Cardan to warrant it being titled "The Cruel Prince." The enemies to lovers pipeline is less believable because of how little Cardan is in it. He does nothing to convince me that Jude would love him by the end. However, I do find myself deeply interested in how their relationship will play out.
That being said, I do recommend reading as it is a fun and inviting world. I enjoyed it well enough and will be picking up the second in the series soon. I want to see where each of the characters go.

Free VFX & Consultation for NaNoRenO 2024 Jammers!
Tumblr media
Hey everyone!  I hope you've had a great time participating in NaNoRenO this year!  I'm Nai from Make Visual Novels, though I imagine more of you know me either through our live team building events in DevTalk, or from the other jams and competitions I run.  I wanted to let you guys know that, for a limited time, I'm offering free consultations for jammers participating in NaNoRenO2024.  With those consultations, I'll also be creating VFX for your title screens to help you make a stronger first impression.
So you might be asking...
Why would I even want a consultation, Nai?
Something went really wrong and you want to know how to fix it .
Something went really right and you want to know how to take advantage of it.
You had an objective that you got close to, but couldn't quite hit it.
You want to go Pro with developing VNs, and you'd like guidance.
You feel lost in some part of the process, and need help setting goals for your circumstances.
You tasted VN Dev, you can't imagine a life without it, and you want tools, resources & opportunities.
Okay, but why you?
I've spent nearly a decade supporting and coaching visual novel developers reaching their personal and professional goals.
I've read over 500 indie visual novels.  I know what your peers are doing, and where they are succeeding and where they're struggling.
I run & judge for the largest sponsored visual novel development competition.  That 500 was a conservative estimate.
My network includes VN engine & game developers, game, book, comic & VN publishers, merchandise providers & manufacturers, marketing professionals, crowdfunding experts, professional programmers, illustrators, animators, graphic designers, VFX artists, 3D Artists(specifically modelling, texturing, rigging, and lighting) editors, pixel artists, Live2D capable artists, authors, narrative designers, translators, composers, musicians, singers, casting directors, voice actors (so many voice actors). And, probably most importantly, people who are living the experiences you're looking for.
In short: If I don't know the answer and/or can't come up with a solution to your very specific goals, I know someone who can.
I'm in.  Now what?
To be eligible for the free consultation and the VFX, you need to have a game submitted to the NaNoRenO 2024 jam page and follow its rules.
Having a list of questions to ask is a good idea.  Having goals is an even better one.  If you don't have goals, we can work on setting them.
For best results, you or a team representative should be present for the consultation.  These are conducted between 6:00 PM and 9:00 PM ET on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
Message me over on Discord (discord:naidriftlin) or in DevTalk(https://discord.gg/devtalk) to set up a time and day.
Some things to keep in mind:
Don't ask me to roast your game/be brutal.  I don't do that.  I can provide critique with suggestions and examples.
These consultations will be conducted live on https://twitch.tv/makevisualnovels.  My viewers are typically your peers and VN industry folks, and usually not exceeding 10 concurrent viewers.  A VOD recording will be provided to you to download for 30 days afterwards.
The free VFX for your title screen is eligible for those who complete the consultations.  It will be tailored to your existing title screen visuals and delivered afterwards.  I may opt to stream and record the process of making them.

My 2024 In Books!
After struggling with my reading in 2023, this year I slightly exceeded my 2-books-a-week reading goal, with a total of 106 for the year. I also had a lot more fun with my reading - narrowing down my year-end best-of to just 10 fiction and 5 non-fiction was extremely tough, so apologies to all the wonderful books that didn't make the cut. Without further ado...
TOP 10 FICTION WHAT MONSTROUS GODS by Rosamund Hodge (re-read) I featured an earlier draft of this book on a previous best-of list, but the finished version published this year and I love it even more now if possible. This lush, romantic YA fantasy is a story of sticking stubbornly by your faith, refusing to abandon it even as you disentangle the lies, half-truths, and old wounds that have become a part of it. Spectacular.
CITY OF SERPENTS by Christina Baehr (re-read) I still actually haven't read the final published draft of this book but the second draft made me yell with delight. This entire series has been perfect but this book, with its themes of faith versus fear, the meek inheriting the earth, and its banter, mad science, and suffragism, may be my favourite.
THE AMULET OF SAMARKAND by Jonathan Stroud I Can't Believe I Didn't Write This Myself, it's so precisely my thing. Not just an action-packed thrill ride: this story of a magician's apprentice stealing a powerful djinn for revenge has solid characterisation and gloriously unsparing themes about power and privilege.
BABETTE'S FEAST by Isaak Dinesen (Karen Blixen) I was familiar with the classic film, but the original short story is even richer and more profound. Blixen's theme has to do with how faith is enriched by the experience of art and pleasure, as a small sect of Lutheran ascetics are given an artistic experience of God's grace that then flows from them, enabling them to extend that grace to others out of joy rather than duty.
THE BANDIT QUEENS by Parini Shroff This black comedy about a widow in rural India being blackmailed by the other women in her village into helping them become widows, too, deserves a lot of content warnings for domestic violence, SA, trauma, and language. Yet it's both hilariously funny and surprisingly nuanced.
LONG LIVE EVIL by Sarah Rees Brennan A young woman with terminal cancer gets sucked into the world of her favourite fantasy series and proceeds to break fourth walls, examine fantasy tropes, and have a rip-roaring fantasy adventure while revelling in perfectly purple prose. Along the way it discusses what it really means to be a villain and why we let our main characters get away with murder. I am already pining for the sequel.
THE SILMARILLION by JRR Tolkien (re-read) How to cope with the post-RINGS OF POWER hangover? Group SILMARILLION re-read! This is quite simply one of the most beautiful, moving, good, and true books I have ever read or ever will read. I am consumed with regret that, as deeply as it has influenced me, I will never hope to equal it.
THE HOBBIT by JRR Tolkien (re-read) Still great, and imbued (to a greater extent than I ever noticed before) with Tolkien's perennial themes of artistry and sub-creation.
EMPIRE OF SHADOWS by Jacquelyn Benson Imagine a swashbuckling archaeology adventure like Indiana Jones or THE MUMMY, except with a formidable amount of real Meso-American history and a romantic male lead you don't want to punch in the eye, and you'd have this book. And then the resolution hits, and it's numinous and cathartic and lifts the whole book to a new level. Delightful!
ELLA ENCHANTED by Gail Carson Levine I missed reading this book till now, but I'm not sorry because now I can appreciate it properly. This book isn't just an delightful fantasy adventure with a wonderfully convincing romance - it also has profound themes about obedience and conscience and maturity. Light years better than the movie, and wholeheartedly recommended to readers of any age.
HONOURABLE MENTIONS Because I read so many more than just ten excellent novels this year, I want to THOROUGHLY recommend the following: THE SAVAGE DAMSEL AND THE DWARF by Gerald Morris THE PRISONER'S THRONE by Holly Black A CRANE AMONG WOLVES by June Hur THE HEDGE WITCH OF FOXHALL by Anna Bright THE NECROMANCER'S APPRENTICE by Beverley Twomey SPLINTERED MIND by WR Gingell
- TOP 5 NON-FICTION I didn't read so many non-fiction books this year, owing to spending much of the year plowing through one audiobook that I didn't really love. But the ones I did read were great, and these are my top picks:
WOMEN AND THE GENDER OF GOD by Amy Peeler This short but meaty theology book focuses on what the Incarnation can tell us about the way God values women and also about the gendered ways in which God makes himself known to humanity, despite being far beyond any human conception of gender. It managed to be both orthodox and mind-blowing.
SHAKESPEARE: THE MAN WHO PAYS THE RENT by Judi Dench I inhaled this book inside 48 hours: a legendary Shakespearean actress records the lessons (and anecdotes) of a lifetime spent playing 28 different roles across 20 different plays by one of the world's greatest authors. I learned so much about Shakespeare, acting, and the dramatic art from this book.
THE LOST HISTORY OF CHRISTIANITY by Philip Jenkins For centuries, during the early and high middle ages, a vast, now-vanished church flourished across the entire Asian continent as well as the northeastern parts of Africa. This lost history has much to teach us about how the Church can grow, flourish, and remain faithful as a cultural minority - contrary to the demands of many loud voices within western Christianity today.
TO BE A MACHINE by Mark O'Connell Subtitled "Adventures Among Cyborgs, Utopians, Hackers, and the Futurists Solving the Modest Problem of Death". The transhumanist movement has fundamentally the same life goals as Ar-Pharazon the Golden, final king of doomed Numenor, and O'Connell tackles his subject with the outrageous wit it demands, so I had the time of my life.
THE SEXUAL REFORMATION by Aimee Byrd A study of what the Song of Songs has to tell us, not just about the sexes, but also about God's love for his church. So rich that I'll be re-reading it periodically in the future just to grasp all its implications - but it's already had a profound impact on me.
HONOURABLE MENTION THE GOLDEN MOLE by Katherine Rundell - a delightful collection of bite-sized essays about the wonder of the natural world, gorgeously written if somewhat (and understandably) doom-laden.

Quote from 2023:
I want to see my love of art reflected in next year’s summary; whether it be through more completed long-time projects, more original art, or more experimentation. Also, improving my fundamentals like better anatomy, posing, lighting, etc. The future is uncertain, and the horrors persist…but so will I 😈
I persisted BINCH!!!!!
Okay, so I didn't draw every month. Who cares. I actually had a lot of fun with my art this year, did so many full color illustrations, and managed to start one of my long-time projects. I think that joining Art Fight really helped. Not only has it encouraged me to explore creating and developing my own characters, it was so rewarding to gift art directly to people who spent so much love and time on their OCs!
I think that because of the shock from the events of my 2023 and trying to fill the void in my heart after the pokemon anime with satoshi ended, i cycled through quite a few fandoms this year. It's been fun, and really pushing me to adapt to and try different styles. My fundamentals still need work, but I'm working on not avoiding difficult poses/compositions and instead attempting them even if they end up wonky!
Also...I'm aware I didn't post more than half of these on tumblr...maybe I should just for archival purposes ^^; I've kinda gotten over my 'if it doesn't perform numbers on sns, it's not good' mindset, but I think I'm still trying to get over the 'people know me for one thing, and idk how they'll feel if i stop making content for that one thing' mentality. NGL, I still want that external validation from having my art recognized, but making art that I'm personally proud of is still my main priority. Bah, add that to my goals for next year.
A lot of life events (mostly positive!) in 2024 also led me to do some other artistic pursuits like...
nail art
Tumblr media Tumblr media
sewing (i made that!!! and it has pockets!!!)
Tumblr media
cosplay (even managed to squeeze in a last minute casual tifa cosplay lol)
Tumblr media
and even video editing!!! (I won't post...for now... but if you know my youtube, you know... lol)
Anyways, I hope to continue this creative energy and motivation into the next year. I realized that I'm not gonna get anywhere by just standing still, so even if I don't show that progress publicly, I want to keep practicing and improving! Rather than only moving with bursts of inspiration, it'd be nice if I could go back to consistency, because I know that ultimately, that's the only way I'd be able to tackle my larger projects. I'm also very likely to join Art Fight again in 2025, so maybe...flesh out a story or design for an OC?? Quite ambitious, but cautiously optimistic for the future!
art fight character credits (july): curlymedusa, MuscleHakase, Helimations

and also!!! Let us NOT forget ofc all the other TF series and leaders and characters and such getting their time in the spotlight and the MANY little references to all kinds of stuff everywhere and.....!!!!!! Like I have so much respect for that video 🥹 it's such a detailed, wonderful tribute to everything transformers has been, is, and continues to be. Themes of connections literal and metaphorical and the power and beautythat comes from it. UFFF and Everything was so pretty and wonderful to look at and (ノ≧∇≦)ノ ミ ┻━┻!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Very happy with it <3333
and also Yes I did have the thought It would have been cool to see the Pretenders (😭) but I also understand its probably hard enough to tastefully fit in all thr characters they did (and plus! Masterforce Mentioned At All is such a huge W youre not hearing Complaints from me 🫡) and also y'know what. maybe. maybe that was for the best because I might have simply combusted into fucking flames if they did that. Like you all think I'm annoying about those guys NOW but if I saw them animated all pretty and shape andshiny and sharp like that.........or.GOD if they had put their human forms in there...........I would need to be restrained is all I'll say
Tumblr media
AND y'know what too it actually also fuels me with even MORE willpower than I already have to work for and eventually finish this illustration degree, somehow hopefully make it to a position where I too can make masterforce references in 4k except OFFICIAL and also have the opportunity to be insufferable about my blorbo of all time and space <333333 stupid silly ass dream of mine that may never happen but mark my WORDS if I get even the slightest opportunity y'all.....I want to do a masterforce centric project someday. 2024 Writer's Wrapped
Thanks @blizzardfluffykpop for being so kind and tagging me in their wrap up. I'm not sure if this is going to be an amazing one compared, since I've written very little this year, but I think it's important to look over what I have achieved, considering I have some ambitious goals to get back into writing more in 2025 (life playing ball and not throwing anymore curveballs withstanding).
Tagging @noona-clock because I know B is still writing, and any of my other wonderful mutuals who write who see this, have a go!
Anyway, here is my Writer's Wrapped.
First Fic of 2024:
Every Damn Time - Park Jinyoung x female reader (published 30th April)
You can tell this entire year has been really hard for me and my mother around her health as this was written at the start of the year, I didn't have time to post it until April. At this point in time, Mum had been pretty dizzy from medication and just really unwell, and I remember writing this story out through tears on my phone in bed to calm down enough to go to sleep. Whilst this wasn't anywhere near as bad as it got, writing or reading really helped me endure everything that went wrong this year for Mum. And of course, I turned to Jinyoung for comfort. If it's not him, it's Kyungsoo lol.
Last Fic:
Missed Me - Park Jinyoung x female reader (published 7th November)
The fact that Jinyoung got me writing again thanks to his military discharge still makes me annoyed. But I'm glad I'm writing again, so I guess this story was a necessary evil. It's technically not the last thing I've written this year, as I have two stories to go up in January already, but it's the last thing I've posted in 2024.
Longest Fic:
Business or Pleasure [M] - Jung Jaehyun x female reader (1608 words)
Yeah, I still cannot believe I wrote a dedicated smut scenario either. Let alone post it online, but here we are.
Most Popular Fic of 2024:
Personal Torture - Bang Chan x female reader (has 127 notes currently)
I still dread returning to the gym thinking about this. I had to quit to take care of Mum full-time soon after writing this as I just couldn't do everything in a day, and now I'm wanting to improve my health so I can look out for myself anddddd definitely not getting a personal trainer any time soon if I return. But I love this story. And if you love Chan, well maybe you should look out for 2025 👀 a series I started like 2-3 years ago is FINALLY getting posted...
Personal Pick:
Well, there's only one fiction left that's not posted above, so let's pick it now.
Roll Into Me - Park Chanyeol x female reader
I dunno why I wrote this, just that I was enjoying playing around with how far I could take my suggestive content without cringing.
*whispers* Business or Pleasure is actually my favourite of them all, but the less said on that, the better.
Total Fics Written:
Five published on here. Two that are unpublished and will be shared next year. Several ideas written down but no progress on yet.
Total Words Written:
4975 - way more than I thought I'd get done.
I also have a fictional world that I write on for my close friends. And I think I did about 3-5k there earlier in the year. I'm really behind in that world actually >_<
Top Artists Muses:
Annoyingly, we know who is my top muse.
Tumblr media
In Conclusion:
2024 wasn't the year for me to write, but a year to survive. One that I had pockets of creativity to endure what a shitfest it was for me and my family. Equally, it showed me that writing is helpful, and that I shouldn't feel like I can't do it anymore because I read books now. It's kind of a snobbish sounding response that, but what I mean is, I know I don't have the backbone to publish a book anywhere. I couldn't handle someone like myself who reviews books on the regular trashing anything I write. So I decided, I just can't write anymore somewhere in amongst that thinking.
But I can, and I don't have to publish a novel to prove that. I just have to write in what capacity I choose to.
Let's hope I can give this blog more love in 2025, try new things, keep expanding on what I enjoy writing, and just rediscover my love for writing whilst enduring the grief I'm living through with the death of my mum. I think it will be a cathartic experience.

Weekly Weighing (02/25/24 to 03/02/24)
Here are 7 posts I enjoyed from the week of 02/25/24 to 03/02/2024.
1. https://www.tumblr.com/softjigglyprince/743601282140504065
Tumblr media
Let's start off with @broaderstrokes. There's a lot of fat hanging off this superchub, and the lighting and the pose do a lot to highlight every inch of it.
2. https://www.tumblr.com/ryanporker/743443319671095296/alright-these-feel-like-pictures-i-wouldve-found
Tumblr media
There's already plenty to like about these images, but the caption really cinched it for me. It's true- this looks very much like a case of achieving gaining goals.
3. https://www.tumblr.com/ginger-binge/743521056791330816/get-more-from-gingerbinge-on-patreon
If you're even slightly into teasing/degradation, this preview will definitely make you consider checking out this encourager's Patreon. Thanks to @ginger-binge for drawing my attention to him
4. https://www.tumblr.com/gaininggalore/743585289569812480/cinnamontoastken
Tumblr media
CinnamonToastKen is a YouTuber/Twitch streamer whose content I mostly wouldn't recommend, but his weight gain is something I'm happy to appreciate from a distance.
5. https://www.tumblr.com/thespiderpig1999/743652819444400128/gaming-is-a-gainers-best-friend
Tumblr media
I don't believe I've featured @thespiderpig1999 previously. This photo ties into my favorite idle fantasy, the gaining gamer boyfriend. Excellent use of a prop to turn a simple belly shot into something greater.
6. https://www.tumblr.com/naughtynoodle056/743777800843051008/heres-my-list-of-black-gainers-artists-and
Tumblr media
I checked out quite a few names from this list of black feedist Tumblr users. Most of their blogs aren't for me, as while I respect and wish well for women into this kink, I'm too gay to want to see regular posting of photos of them. However, this is exactly the kind of list that ought to be spread- a curated list of folks who aren't getting enough exposure without the help. So I'm sharing it for anyone who follows me who might appreciate this sort of thing.

Tumblr media Tumblr media
I was facing a choice between two gorgeous men with excellent, dramatic before and after comparison photos, and I have elected not to choose. Here they both are in all their glory.
And that’s this week’s Weekly Weighing!

Hello everyone who's followed me here! The poll ended a while ago and it looks like people are interested in doing this so here's the blog where all further information about such a project will be placed!
Due to the fact that I've never run a fandom event before, this is going to take me quite a bit of time to organize, plus I've currently got a lot on my plate irl right now (such as writing and producing a musical from now until the end of the year which I am very hyped about but also I assume it's going to take up a lot of time) so bear with me as I organize my own thoughts before bringing more people on board
In short here's a generalized timeline for things off the top of my head (and is by no means all inclusive or a hard and fast timeline, this is just to give people general expectations)
Now (June 2024) - October 2024: Organizing all the feedback from the comments on the original post, coming up with organizational structures and outlining how many roles would be needed in order to put an event like this together
November 2024-December 2024: Mod applications and interest checks open
January 2025: Interest Check results are released and Mod application results are sent out
February 2025: Mods look over organizational structures, give feedback for how the event is organized, finish getting everything ready for people to contribute to the project
March 2025-April 2025: Sign ups are sent out for writers/artists/betas, distinguishing between people who would like to write pre-blackening arcs and post-blackening arcs (in my mind there would be an application process similar to that of a zine for writers and artists thay would like to create hard and fast canonically referenced events in PIDW but EVERYONE would be open to write general wife number whatever chapters OR Binghe gets massive power up chapters, for those that want to participate but don't wanna write smut, including people that don't sign up within the "event" time frame, allowing PIDW to be an ever changing living document that essentially never has to end however this system would remain open to changes depending on what people would like to see most)
May 2025: Results are sent out for people writing pre-blackening arcs and discord invites are sent out to all participants in the project
June 2025 - March 2026: Creation period, potentially longer or shorter depending on interest check results since the goal would be to create chapters with ridiculously long word counts for the sake of the bit
April 2026-???: Release of the project to ao3, with a new creator's work being posted each week at first and then speeding up to a daily reveal until all works are revealed in the collection, functioning similarly to a hypothetical Airplane's writing schedule
Once again this is all just... REALLY vauge outlines and the speculation of someone that has no idea how long it takes to put on an event like this, I would imagine that in actuality it would take much longer to do so, and life tends to interfere in things in mysterious ways so I would not be surprised if this does not end up accurate to the actual timeline, but just to give people a general idea of when a large scale project like this would be able to take place!
