Been getting back into Nioh 2 recently and I've fallen in love with the game all over again. The combat is both flashy and snappy, the outfits and customize is stellar, the environments and bosses are extremely well crafted, and overall playing the game again just really makes me wanna' save up for a PS5 so I can play Rise of the Ronin next month. Assuming the game doesn't hit Steam in the next year like Nioh 2 did of course. And surprisingly, the online coop is still rather active to my pleasant surprise. Been having a lot of fun doing random expeditions and helping out some folks with their missions (even if they decide to go full-on Leeroy Jenkins at times).
That said, I think the game's got its issues. I'm still holding to the opinion that any Soulsborne having cheap/hidden enemy placements is automatically getting points deducted from it and boy does Nioh 2 have a shitload of jumpscares. Given the enemy designs this game and my light armor build this game is just a few resources short of a survival horror game. The story is very subpar, a sort of retelling of Hideyoshi's rise with your OC/player character as an observer and helper being kinda'... lame if I'm being honest. Some of the more advanced features like Remodeling are poorly explained to the point of confusion for me. And I personally think that the game's main story runs a touch too long. I'm currently at level 110 in the "Dream" segment of the story and it's starting to feel more like a slog at this point.
Anyways, hopefully gonna' beat this game over the weekend if things go well. My issues aside this game gets a glowing recommendation from me.

Random ask that may or may not be foreshadowing; if you were to completely drop persona cold turkey, what other rpg series do you think you'd hyperfixate over instead?
Hmmmmmm hard to say.
If it's something I've yet to play then I dunno.
But if it's going back and playing older games I've played the hell out of.....hmmm let's start there I guess:
I like Pokemon, but I'm not gonna compete to be the biggest know-it-all with that franchise (esp with the amount of conflicting info and canons and possibly mistranslations). It's astronomical compared to MegaTen.... (what applies to Pokemon can also be applied to Digimon and Yu-Gi-Oh too....)
Dragon Ball.......Tbh I'm not that into fighting games, maybe if I ever get a Legacy of Goku 4 fkjdlajf; Gimme some good RPG DB games and I'm down (I have Kakarot and the Legacy of Goku games tho)
There's really no plot/character/story analysis I can do on the Tony Hawk games.....
I like DMC and Nioh, but I feel like those games and fandoms are more focused on the gameplay mechanics....plus they aren't exactly easy games to just "kick back and enjoy" I have to really concentrate which is draining...... (more so Nioh than DMC, but I'm more invested in Nioh than DMC so that's an issue TT0TT)
I love Assassins' Creed, but even I know the amount of content I'd have to hard core consume (between AC and AT LEAST Watch Dogs......oof). Just thinking about it might explode my brain. u_u
Love Rule of Rose, but other fans have dug deeper done everything with it. So there's nothing for me to really bring to the table.
.hack.....maybe I could get back into that? My knowledge is mostly in the novles/manga I've read tho. ("But Silly! Isn't that technically a fantasy game?" I mean.....yes but it's modern day chars playing a video game. I dunno I always found that idea novel alongside 'oh people are dying' mystery. It's why I watched SAO because it reminded me of .hack! ....I'm not getting into SAO tho >_>)
Most heavy fantasy.....probs not likely but not impossible. The thing with Persona/Megaten is that they usually have a very "grounded in real life" kinda vibe going on. Which was nice because it felt like less stuff I had to memorize to understand the world. Plus it was more of a vibe I liked..... (but I'll mention some of the well known franchises....mostly cause they are the ones with the most entries to get into)
Love KH but I don't really wanna deep dive into it (I think the writing was best in KH1 and CoM, I think Sora's char has really devolved over the games, and I hated 3D and KH3). I am keeping an eye on KH4 and maybe even Verum Rex (which I'm pulling for us to get, outta all the FF games, FFvs13 was always one I was super interested in).
FF.....I'll play them, but I'm not that invested into them. (12's ok, 7's ok, 7R's ok but I need to finish those three first.... I liked 15 even tho it was messy, I hate 13 with a passion, I should try 10 cause it reminds me of Destiny Islands. 15 and 10 are the best contenders for me to be invested in tbh).
Tales of...... tbh Xillia always interested me the most. I should go through my backlog......I'm like halfway through Arise so I should probs pick that back up.
Maybe I should try Ys? Or finish the Trails of/Legends games I have too, tho I'm not very invested in that that.
Atelier series.....I should finish the games I have of that....then again....it's related to Mana Khemia right? I actually played and liked the first game of that (I sucked at it so I don't think I finished, that and I think I got P4 within that year so that ended up consuming me not long after)......I should give Mana Khemia another chance.
Oh there's also the Lunar series......I was always interested in that after I was graced with the game Lunar Dragon Song as a kid. :'D Weep for me yes, weep. I know. u_u IYKYK
I like Harvest Moon/Story of seasons.....but not enough to like...deep dive into stuff.
I mostly play Slime Rancher for the gameplay loop than the analysis too tbh.....
Far Cry 5 is a heavy contender. I did get lucky, outta all of the FC games....at least this one not only got a direct sequel with New Dawn (even tho it deals more with the Highway men than the cultists *sobs*), it also got a tie-in DLC with FC6......plus I got that novel, and the little bit of supplementary material. The issue, which is a double edge sword....is that it ends there. There's a lot of side content I could probs find and dissect, but once I find it all it ends.
At least with Persona, I can expect the world to keep going and expanding (either it's main continuity or the larger continuities in general). FC I'm not sure.....they might have diff timelines but no in an interactive way like MegaTen does.....
I guess I can try a swing at Mind=0, Tokyo Xanadu, Caligula 1/2, or Monark. Both with finishing and attempting to hyperfixate....but they just don't hit the same. Plus I run into a similar problem as with FC5....it's pretty much it when it ends (and unlike FC5, I doubt those games have as much content).
.hack might be a heavy contender.....
I am very Avatar-pilled atm....and I'm going through those games. Which was something I meant to do like 10 years ago during my last hyperfixation on the franchise (but I think I got distracted by PQ1 jklsdfj;). So maybe expect a small deep dive on those? Platinum's Korra will probs reign supreme for me tbh klfdjsa;f
Hmmmm I've heard good things about Suikoden......same with Phantasy star, Chrono trigger, Mother/earthbound.....maybe actually finish FE 3Hs......
Tldr; I dunno. At least game wise. Other media (either exclusively a diff format or one that's multimedia'd)? That's a bit more easier/open ended. (I'm juggling Atla/Korra, Addams' Family, and Naruto like a lil' court jester, we'll see how this goes)

Video game blogging:
Finished Horizon: Forbidden West (after 96 hours and change). I didn't liveblog this one, but I definitely enjoyed it and will play it again. I know Burning Shores comes out in like 3 days, but I think I'll do the same thing here I did with Zero Dawn and save the DLC for the second playthrough. Plus, I'm playing this through the PSPlus thing, but I do wanna get it on disc, so I'll pick up a definitive edition at some point or something.
Story-wise, I think I said earlier that this feels like a trilogy and now, after seeing the ending of this one, that feels even more true. Also, they had the perfect opportunity to write Sylens out, but didn't, so I'm still curious what they're gonna do now. Like, you can't just fridge him after that... he's GOT to be part of part 3 now, so are they gonna recast him or find some creative solution?
Anyway, I am currently downloading the PS5 upgrade for Disco Elysium: The Final Cut, as voted on by Tumblr, which I very well might liveblog because it does gangbusters on here apparently. But I don't know that I'll start that tonight and I have a seminar paper to write in the next couple of weeks, so it might be a slow start. We'll see how it goes.
After that... well, it's gonna depend on how that goes. I have a preorder of Final Fantasy XVI and will be doing that when it comes out. And I do wanna get Tears of the Kingdom at some point as well. But I'm hoping to maybe get through a couple interesting games this summer and I've got a long queue of games I have access to and want to play, including (but not necessarily limited to): Tactics Ogre: Reborn Jedi: Fallen Order The Last of Us, Part II Dragon Quest XI Tails of Iron Ghosts of Tsushima Kingdom Hearts III Spider Man: Miles Morales Deathloop What Remains of Edith Finch Blasphemous Gravity Rush
And like... I haven't even looked at the classics catalog, really. And this is not including stuff I've started and want to go back and finish/redo (RDR2, Death Stranding, Like a Dragon, Nioh 2), or things I've been wanting to replay for a while (Sekiro, mostly, but also some of the early Final Fantasies, Fear Effect, a bunch of old stuff, actually).
Not enough goddamn hours in the day.

My name is Chai! 😁
So I'm moving here from Twitter because one of their new policies that they've implemented today that crossed the line for me. I mean... I'll still be posting there but I ain't paying to share my other social medias.
I'm Keana/Chai and I'm a digital artist and I've been doing art for nearly 12 years now. I do tons of fanart and oc art but will dabble into other mediums like crochet, sewing, pottery, etc (I have Adhd lmao). I also do commissions! Thay will be an entirely different post though so stay tuned.
That's all I want to say, but if you wanna know more about me...
I play video games too! You can find me on Playstation and PC. I mainly play Genshin Impact, but I also have tiny obsessions with Pokémon, any souls game (DS1, DS2, DS3, Bloodborne❤️❤️❤️, Nioh, Elden Ring, etc.), Monster Hunter, and a lot more. I also JUST got into Destiny 2 so...
I am also a ✨️weeb✨️, but I don't watch anime that religiously anymore (Again, I have Adhd). I do enjoy Jujutsu Kaisen, Demon Slayer, DBZ, Inuyasha, and a few others. I just started reading the manga for Chainsaw Man but its been on and off.
Now, for my very specific obsessions for those who are interested (Or characters I've simped for lmao).
Tartaglia from Genshin Impact
Dude had me in a death grip ever since I played his character in his story. Like, at first I loved his playstyle. Then I started loving the characters personality. It definitely didn't get better since I've gotten him for the first time and it wont get better cause I recently C6 the motherfucker. Fuck this guy, I love him so much.
Gojo from Jujutsu Kaisen
SPOILER FROM THE MANGA
I SPECIFICALLY love this dudes backstory. The way he learns how to fucking heal himself after getting stabbed in the throat, his annoying cocky attitude he has during a fight, he's a little piece of shit that I love so much. I haven't been simping for him recently, but with the new season coming out (WHICH IS HIS BACKSTORY BY THE WAY) it just might come back. I also bought a $200 figure of him. Worth every penny.
Dragons
Yes, I have been called a furry/scaley multiple times. I will deny it. I've been in denial for years now. Dragons are just the coolest things though. Shenron? Dude grants wishes, he's cool as fuck. Zhongli? My guy is an ex-archon and his backstory is badass. Every single Dragon type in Pokémon? There's a 90% chance they'll be in my team even when they're NOT dragon shaped. Jormangundr, Kukulkan, and Tiamat in Smite? Yeah, I main them, and yes they're all diamond. Point being, dragons are fucking cool.
"Kawaii"/Japanese Aesthetics
Pink isn't my favorite color, but it is a color I like to wear. Sakura blossoms, cats, Torii gates, tea, etc. Yeah, I'll happily vibe with it. Animal themed clothings (Bear ear berets, Cat ear beanies, Frog hoodies) an absolute MUST. I almost bought Hello Kitty stuff multiple times cause it was cute.
So yeah, that is me. Pretty sure I missed stuff but oh well. 🤷‍♀️ Hopefully I'll adjust well here, but it shouldn't be too much of a problem. If you somehow reached to the bottom of this post while reading everything, I'm very fucking impressed. So I guess 2023 is me officially starting this account up.

石田お寿司 12/9/21 stream translation Part 6
This is not the full translation of the stream. I only translated the parts I could understand & interpret or parts I found interesting/important. I’m still a beginner in Japanese, so the translations may not be accurate. If you want to repost, please repost at your own risk.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
(t/n: ** means translation may not be accurate.)
I: I’ve received a honey-flavoured sake, so I’m gonna drink it. If I I’m not mistaken, this was given by a reader. So sweet. It’s delicious.
*He received ps4 notif.
I: The ps4 is unable to install Hitman? Wait a min. Hitman is really irritating.
*He’s reading texts from Hitman, I guess.
I: I don’t understand the sentence, but it said “Fuck off”. It’s saying fuck. Thank you. Thank you for your fuck. (t/n: Oh my, it sounds so wrong! HAHAHA!)
I: Should I delete Mafia 3 then. I probably won’t be playing it. Mafia is dangerous. But I wanna play it…Maybe I should redownload the game when I wanna play it.
C: Eating letters means we can see your face.
I: Ah, that’s right. I’ll wear a rubber mask. I’ll wear a fetish mask. The one where you can only see the mouth. Doesn’t that sound super scary, seeing me chewing with that. I won’t be able to see anything.
C: Do you have Kaneki’s mask?
I: Nope, but I have the mask’s statue. They made a replica or something for the movie, and I got that.
C: Try stepping on Araki Hirohiko’s sensei’s foot.
I: That’s definitely a no-no.
C: Try eating raw manuscript.
I: That’s nice. “Okay. I’m gonna try eating raw manuscript today. Wow, this is freshly made! I’ll eat now!” Then, I put some salt. “Hm, it’s a bit dry.” Something like that. “Okay, so, I’ve tried eating raw manuscript today.”
C: Turn it into Onigiri.
I: That’s nice. It’s a bit complicated. Turn the raw manuscript into an onigiri and eat it. Recording plan for 30,000 commemoration includes trying eating 10 years’ worth of fan letters and raw manuscript. But, it’s definitely rare. I don’t have raw manuscripts since everything is in digital.
C: Have you bought TG’s game.
I: I will. I’m gonna buy it!
*Someone commented about seasoning.
I: It seems edible If I put some seasoning on top. That’s nice too.
I: I wanted to create videos that require editing too. I only have Animal Rap to mess around with. I probably mess around more during the stream.
I: It seems like I can play Hitman. Shall I play Hitman? Shall I play Hitman while thinking for the commemorative plan.
I: By the way, I’ve been crazily addicted to Nioh. It’s the kind of game where you die repeatedly. I’ve nothing but this kind of games in my collection.
C: The project hasn’t been decided yet?
I: It’s still under planning for now. It looks like I’m planning to eat the letters now. (t’n: He’s referring to the fact that the plan was on the screen.)
Y****: I have Nioh 2.
I: You have them? Nioh 2 is fun. You can create characters in the game. I want to create Saito Naoki (illustrator & youtuber). Would I be scolded for that?
C: Won’t you upload any youtube shorts?
I: What kind of content should I do? Do you want me to?
C: What happened to Goubaru’s country?
I: Well, I have the data. Goubaru died because of stress at the age of 34 or 35. Those who watched the stream would know.
C: The stress from the torture. Hahaha.
I: Right. He died from that. Then, I raised the son who didn’t look anywhere close to him. I was able to unify a lot of places.
*Playing Hitman.
I: We can now understand the story. Even if we don’t, we kinda know what’s going on.
C: I’m an assistant but my work begins at noon, so I’ll watch till the end.
I: Oh, so you’re an assistant. Where? Whose assistant?
*OP still hadn’t replied to Ishida’s questions.
I: Whose assistant are you?
C: A mangaka for football manga.
I: I see. I don’t read them. Is it Giant Killing? No?
C: Persistent.
I: I really am.
*People commented Blue Rock manga.
I: Is it Blue Rock?
C: Are you gonna expose him again?
I: I’m gonna tell the mangaka that their assistant is—hahaha. I won’t tell that person, so tell me. I won’t tell them! I won’t, so tell me. Haha. I’d tell that person “Your assistant watched my stream last night. They seem to not get enough sleep today.”
(t/n: Lmao, he sounded so desperate.)
C: That’s considered as harassment!
I: He’s not from my workplace.
I: It’s not Blue Rock nor Giant Killing? I won’t tell them. Do they have twitter, by the way? I shouldn’t ask so many questions. I’ll stop here.
I: I don’t have an assistant for Choujin X? Will you be my assistant instead? I’ll pay you contact payment of 5 million yen.
C: I will!!
I: Hahahaha! Then, write whose assistant you are. Tell me.
C: Can I?
I: Up to you. I definitely won’t get involved, but other people might spread it. I just get to know one thing about you. It’s under a magazine, but which type? Weekly, biweekly, or monthly?
C: This is a job interview, isn’t it?
I: Yes.
*The assistant person wrote the manga name.
I: Eh, that manga?! Hold on. I probably read it when I was looking through the magazine. Yes, it was in the magazine! Hold on.
*He’s searching for something.
I: You’ve blurted out everything. This is bad. Everyone, keep this a secret.
*He’s reading about the manga.
I: That manga was good. The drawing was beautiful, I think. Or was I wrong? I do remember there’s one football manga with good action scenes. I won’t tell anyone. Don’t tell the mangaka I’m scouting you either.
I: There’s no other assistants here? Whose mangaka are you working under? Surprisingly, people do indeed watch my streams. The one in charge for Fool Night also watched my stream, so there are people who watch them by chance. The Fool Night’s editor won’t watch my stream anymore, since he’s gotten comments from me. I’m just joking.
C: (Proposal for 30,000 subs): Eating 10 years’ worth of fan letters, eating, raw manuscripts, poaching assistants.
I: That’s a good idea. An attempt to poach a certain football manga’s assistant. How much should I pay for you to abandon your sense of duty? I don’t know how many moths or years you’ve been taken care of, but how much should I pay for you to betray the sensei that has hired you during this pandemic? I’m very interested to know.
C: Don’t do something that incites criticism online.
I: I’m gonna keep poaching assistants from various people. I’m aiming to be a mangaka. Let’s create Sushi army corps by attempting to poach 100 assistants. Let’s try to poach assistants from other places with money.
C: I can’t draw, so I want you to hire me for something else.
I: Then, be a meshistant? In the end, I’ll end up hiring meshistant.
*He’s adding poaching other mangakas’ assistants to the proposal.
I: How’s this? This is an NTR (cheating).

Man, I forgot to post 90% of my art here for the past while. I’m gonna do an art dump in this post under the cut. Enjoy the bonk emoji if you don’t click the read more, and man am I dumb and forgetful lmao.
Includes: OCs getting names, a Sonic impression, a D&D map, homosexual energies, a sheep floating in the astral sea, a birthday drawing I already posted, Hex Maniac Ender, D&D Characters, D&D Characters as Miis in Miitopia, Little Hater Axel, local Demon in the consciousness of my D&D character yelling at him, illegal plants, a necromancer being cute, an actual event that happened in a D&D game two days ago, and Mermay drawing.
That’s everything in here as a TL;DR, I guess. Enjoy your day!
I’m gonna try and sort of have them in chronological order, oldest first, but I may end up putting them in the wrong order. If I do... Whoops, I guess?
Tumblr media
[04/14/21] - This isn’t really new art, but I started to work on giving the four OCs of mine without a full name full names... I have not finished this bit, though. So Hunter and Akira have full names, and Warlock and Assassin only have temporary names. This may end up like Seven where I put in their names as a temporary name (7th OC I’d made at that time) and it just kind of... sticks. Lmao.
Tumblr media
[04/20/21] - Alone on a Friday Night? God, you’re pathetic. I didn’t colour this one because it was a half-attempt at a meme image I still like it, though, so I might end up colouring it. It’s gonna appear again whenever I do my “unfinished drawings art dump” at some point probably in... June? I know I said I’d post them last month but forget it, lmao, it’ll happen eventually.
Tumblr media
[04/20/21] - A D&D Map! This was to help me visualize the layout of my D&D character’s ship he used to be on. Also for my DM if they ever put us aboard the ship. The little fella in the corner is just there to vibe. This map is made of free to use assets from This Website, so while I’m gonna say DONT USE MY MAP WITHOUT PERMISSION, feel free to make your own!
Tumblr media
[04/26/21] - Lesbian Day of Visibility drawing of yours truly, the disapointment! That’s... really all I have to say about this, honestly. It was just for that one day and that was it, lmao. I mean, I accidentally lined it in dark pink, so.. .That’s different, I guess?
Tumblr media
[04/30/21] - Do Astral Seas dream of Ensorcled Sheep? Does the City know what Sheepleb is going to do? What crimes he may commit? Who knows! This was fan art of Critical Role ep. 134 if I remember correctly, right at the end when they jumped into the portal into the astral sea and Caleb was a sheep. Using my knowledge of the German language, I knew the word for “shit”, and had to use it.
Tumblr media
[05/07/21] - This was already posted, but it’s going in here to dilinuate that it was drawn at this point. Also, aside from playing Miitopia, this is all I have to show for myself until the 12th.
Tumblr media
[05/12/21] - Hex Maniac Ender challenges you to a Pokemon Battle! WIll you win against my team? My sis, who loves fairy types, pointed out to me that there’s a fairy girl and hex maniac duo, so I’d be the hex maniac. I spent... Over a week drawing this, because I basically had to redraw the Hex Maniac art from scratch in a higher quality size, and then draw myself over it. So... You can excuse the low-effort background for once. It was basically this, and then my birthday doodle from May 1st to May 12th, and then I took a break to draw up several D&D characters quickly for fullbody references.
Tumblr media
[05/12/21] - Remember this art I made several months ago? I finally added my other two completed characters! I have three more named but without character sheet D&D characters, so for now this is just Kara, Axel, Golden Shadow, Kau, Cecillia, and Miri. Kress, Tempest, and Melia will have to wait until I make character sheets for them to be posted, and... For when I probably make more D&D characters. I have at least 9 additional, incomplete character ideas floating around, so... I’m never gonna be done this art, huh?
Tumblr media
[05/12/21] - Speaking of D&D characters, did you know I’ve been making them as Miis in Miitopia? So here is their finished full body art next to their Miitopia self! Some of them look a little off (Golden Shadow, Cecillia) because of limitations of the editor and shading issues, some of them look a little off (Kau, Kress) because this is a human face canvas that I’m using to make a non-human face, and some of them (Melia, Axel) look REALLY GOOD. Common traits among my D&D characters include green eyes and tall. You wanna know why? Because I am tall and... despite having red eyes, I do have green eyes under the coloured contacts.
Tumblr media
[05/15/21] - More D&D stuff! This is based around my D&D group’s current Rime of the Frostmaiden campaign where our Goliath Fighter, Nioh, ends up getting a little bit of hate for being cocky, and our little (well over 6′) hater, Axel, is just a man full of irritation. These are the tallest two characters of the group at the moment. Someone send help. Nioh belongs to one of the other D&D players, Axel (and his stupid additude) belongs to me.
Tumblr media
[05/15/21] - This is what me playing D&D feels like. Me, the demon entity trapped inside the head of my D&D character, yelling at them to do things while the dice decide that they’re gonna get bopped a hundred times by a yeti and somehow still survive. This is also a reference to our first or second game where I just ran off like sixty feet to one side of the battle map to fight a Crag Cat and was just in Gay Baby Jail until like two turns later when I could run back to the others. I also drew him not in his winter gear even though this is a bit from when we were atop Kelvin’s Carin in an icy cave, so maybe that’s why he’s at low HP.
Tumblr media
[05/15/21] - Melia has good gardening tips, such as Use A Mars Mii Trap To Hide A Body Because They Are Endangered And It Is Illegal To Dig Them Up. I love her a lot, because she’s the youngest of four, all four sisters based around the different seasons. She’s based around Autumn, so she’s all orange and yellow and brown and is so cute. Also she’s Chaotic Neutral, as if she didn’t need to be mildly more threatening.
Tumblr media
[05/15/21] - Cecillia is my Tiefling gal who lived in a very northern town plagued by cold weather and snow, and Axel is my Pirate guy who spent most of his time further south on the high seas and warmer weather. So, naturally... I’ll use the guy more acclimatized to the hotter weather in the campaign where we spend 99% of it in the snow. She uses Tarot Cards as her spell focus, and I decided to sneak my other D&D characters onto her Tarot cards so naturally, Axel is The Hanged Man, given his backstory and personality. She’s a very cheerful and friendly Tiefling Necromancer of the Hexblade, so she’d for sure take care of those around her to ensure their success. Especially if they’re on her Tarot Cards, and their spirit comes to her aid when she asks for them.
Tumblr media
[05/16/21] - Content Warning; Ryma thinks too much into local stupid moron’s lack of knowing how to answer a question and thinks too much into the reputation of Pirates. Poor Axel, man doesn’t know how to socialize with people who aren’t pirates and is used to being hostile towards everyone, so when he’s asked a question that his answer to is “uhh... no?”, he panics and ends up making a mistake that leads him to think that Ryma can read his mind. Ryma belongs to another of the D&D players. I guess me drawing all those spicy Cow Costumed OCs earlier just brought me to drawing Axel being a bottom in this, huh?
Tumblr media
[05/16/21] - It’s Mermay, which means more OC drawings! Here’s Theo after drinking some potion that turned him into a mermaid, and Seven, tiredly, collecting his stupid boyfriend so that Lailah can fix the fact he’s turned into a mermaid. Mer!Theo is based around his sword’s colours of indigo-purple with red accents, which looks a little weird since Theo is the Blue one of the group, but... it looks cool, I guess. Seven’s just the same outfit as always, just no gloves this time.
--
And that’s it for the art dump! This was, frankly, MASSIVE. I’ll try and remember to upload both on Twitter and Tumblr at the same time, but... Ah... I have been drawing a fair bit. Just mostly sketches and linework that I haven’t finished and may not actually finish. If they’re not completed, I’ll dump them all into something at the end of the month or whatever. Maybe you’ll get the old sketch of the Axel face in panel 3 because in the sketch phase it was an Ahegao face, in the clean sketch it was a lip bite, and in the linework and final it’s just horny face. lmao.
Top ten things I have to remember for drawing: AXEL HAS A SCAR AND GREEN EYES. I remember his eye colour now, but if you look at his fullbody ref, he’s got brown eyes. And, naturally, I keep forgetting to put in his scar. He has more, but most of them are located in areas covered by his clothes. So if I ever draw him shirtless I guess I’ll have to place them somewhere.
Also maybe finish the reference sheets I have left to finish so I can post more of them, since I have two “Pets” completed (Roko and Mona’s nameless pet), but I have to do up Hunter, Warlock, Assassin, Akira, Myuut, and Stella. I’m betting when I do complete two more, it’ll be Hunter and Akira. Those two are the most fun to draw, at least.

BLACK BIRD by onion games for nintendo switch!! it’s basically “defender” but with that great onion games/lovedelic art style. it’s really great tho there seems to be some occasional slowdown on the switch.
Games you’ve played?
i have played “virtual boy wario land”, “pac-man VS.”, and “rockstar games presents table tennis”, among others.
Game(s) you’re currently playing?
this is too long a list but: i’m currently playing BLACK BIRD, super mario 3D world, bowser’s fury, hitman 3 (which i “beat” but am nowhere near finished with), nioh 2 (only just started but rly liked), golf on mars, ACNH. (also unfinished: ghostrunner, RDR2, prodeus, “the dark pictures: man of medan”, sludge life, metro exodus, tony hawk pro skater 1+2 (finished 1 but not 2))
Game you plan to play next?
more BLACK BIRD! i think i might have been at the final boss. that might put me in the mood for some MILLION ONION HOTEL or maybe restarting DANDY DUNGEON(, both from onion games).
Games on your to-play list?
i just bought “The Ninja Warriors Once Again, or: The Ninja Saviors: Return of the Warriors”, ODDWORLD: stranger’s wrath HD, and “Sky Racket” when they were on sale on the eshop recently. i also downloaded SINE MORA EX, might load that up whenever i’m done with BLACK BIRD. i might try to play more cyberpunk 2077 before tim rogers’s review hits (though i didn’t really like the game at all). i rly wanna play more nioh 2 as well. generally, prey (2017), sekiro, RE4, pathologic 2, and rain world.
Game you’d get if time / money was no object?
chess, netrunner, magic the gathering. or rainbow six seige
Favorite game?
DOOM (1993), or TETRIS EFFECT, or moon: Remix RPG Adventure (or donkey kong: jungle beat)
Favorite game franchise ?
donkey kong, “souls”, or mario
Favorite game in a series?
mario 3, f-zero GX
Favorite game to play?
f-zero gx or god hand. maybe sekiro. using those gamecube shoulder buttons to slide side to side in F0GX and then pulling both for those 90° turns feels amazing. no dodge has ever felt better than using the right stick in “god hand”.
Most frustrating game to play?
tetris 99 is just not what i like abt tetris. dirt 5 feels like competitive plastic chewing. forced TAA, crashes, jerkweed voice fuckers spitting in your ear constantly, gross dutch angled race countdown, bogus music 😑 bogus! rockstar games also frustrate me (tho i like RDR2 & table tennis (& i probably like the manhunt games)); those awful menus do nothing but clunk. (having to hit “A” scroll the map in the map tab in GTA V? when the map is the only thing you can interact with on screen? 😑)
Comfort game?
mario kart 8 dx, puyo puyo tetris
Underrated game?
moon: Remix RPG Adventure, kane & lynch 2: dog days, rock band unplugged
Game that reminds you of your childhood?
lego star wars, “star wars battlefront ii: the 2004 one”
Game you’re really good at?
guideline tetris. i’m also good at star wars battlefront ii but only on mos eisley and only against bots
Game with the most playtime?
across different versions, tetris. on my switch ACNH takes the cake over BOTW, puyo puyo tetris, and mario kart 8 dx. on steam it’s dirt 4.
Favorite console?
PS2 & GBA SP (which just both happen to be the first consoles i had as a kid). honorable mentions to the gamecube, the personal computer (which is the actual best but does not count, i suppose), and “the switch pro”.
Favorite game ending?
nier automata or moon: Remix RPG Adventure or APE OUT
Favorite genre / kind of game?
racing games (see: f-zero GX, burnout 2, outrun 2, dirt 4, mario kart 8 dx, hotshot racing, etc.), “stylish character action” (god hand, bayonetta 2) or “hard action” (god hand, ape out, disc room, tormentor X punisher), platformers
Favorite side games / quests?
the baker in moon: Remix RPG Adventure, siegward in dark souls iii, dark souls/bloodborne quests in general
Favorite cheat codes / glitches?
my fav cheat code is the one in lego star wars that changes all guns to coffee mugs. in super mario land 2: six golden coins you can make mario fall into the game’s memory and walk directly to the end of the game.
Favorite game mechanism?
the directional dodges in GOD HAND. the push/grab in APE OUT. looping level design, like doom or dark souls or metroid. getting a tetris.
Favorite characters from a game?
wario, bayonetta, everyone in moon, donkey kong, the guy from panic restaurant
Favorite boss battle?
beauvoir from nier automata during route B. also a fan of the final boss in dark souls iii.
Favorite game soundtrack?
katamari damacy, moon, mario 3, botw, ape out
Most calming game soundtrack?
tetris effect, DKC, firelink shrine theme/DS1 menu music
Most energetic / pump up game soundtrack?
ape out, those digital hardcore songs in TAIKO NO TATSUJIN
Favorite boss fight music?
something from splatoon or bloodborne probably

megaman legends, sonic mania, mario 3, the wario land games, moon
Favorite character designs?
moon, chulip, the wario land series, katamari, panic restaurant
Favorite game fanart / fanartist?
splendidland
Favorite game fanfiction / author?
those splendidland comics where mario says fuck or where smash brothers characters are gay for each other. also this CYELATM
Tumblr media
Do you make fancontent for any games?
i got ok at drawing wario a while ago. i should practice again
What streamers / playthroughs would you recommend?
jerma985: jurassic park trespasser, saw 1 & 2. giant bomb: “giant bomb makes mario”, “hitsmas”. aurateur.
What skins are on your controllers?
my own :-(
Are you a completionist?
no, i do play slowly though. as far as being a series/franchise completionist, i am bad about thinking i need context for new games by playing old games in the same genre first
Has anything made you ragequit a game?
ornsein & smough :-( bad menus, slow tutorials in lots of games
What do your customizable characters look like?
green skinned ladies with mustaches, balding or with a bob
What game would you suggest to a non-gamer?
golf on mars, bad chess

The husband wanted to get back into WoW, for realsies, since he’s excited about the new expansion. So we’ve been playing that almost non-stop the last few days. This has resulted in a great reduction of productivity.
A couple weeks ago we called our respective families. I hadn’t talked to my parents since January. My Dad followed this conversation with buying a VPN so now I have access to American Netflix and Crunchyroll and other shit. He got it so I could watch the Miss Fisher movie. (It was okay.)
My husband also bought a bunch of video games. Nioh 2 and Vampyr. (He has a vampire fetish, you see. Which is what made him want to get the new WoW expansion. There’s a vampire covenant.)
Today he was like I WANNA GO BUY A GUITAR. The used store has a bunch and he knows how to string, so I have been encouraging him to get a guitar. Tonight, finally, he got one. I’m so excited to listen to him play guitar again.
He’s been given a couple weeks off, so this is the best time.

DOA6 post-weekend binge talk w/ spoils
Finished DOA6's story mode, like 80% through DOA Quest, played a lil over 100 matches online, unlocked maybe 4 costumes. Overall its all mostly good there's just not enough of it? Like the core gameplay, graphics, music are all great and improved a lot I think over DOA5, but all the trimmings are pretty scant so far. The exclusion of lobby mode at launch is already pretty maligned but we at least know we'll get it within the month. The story mode felt pretty rushed and disjointed especially near the end, reflecting the apparent 30 episodes that had to be cut for time, that will hopefully release as DLC later with a hopefully reasonable price.
DOA Quest I really really like, but I think more could have been done with it, and based on what seems like will be timed events in the game and the likelihood of a FTP version releasing I'm guessing DOA Quest might be expanded along with certain events. I'm almost finished with the base quests after only 2 days and its basically the only way to unlock stuff and I've barely unlocked anything yet... I think it would do really well with a procedurally generated quest mode where a new set of 3 are generated randomly every hour similar to the Yokai Realm missions in Nioh.
Because the reward system needs a major overhaul and basically makes Arcade, Survival, and Time Trial modes feel utterly pointless outside of practice, which you could just do in training or online. Like basically you have to obtain a certain number of parts for outfits to unlock them, and you're given those points at random on the completion of an online match or an Arcade/Survival/Time Trial mode and well, look at this
Tumblr media
They basically give you a part reward that's like a random number between 1 and 15. This image is from Survival on Easy but I went and did a Master difficulty Arcade mode and ended up with 7... online matches are better and tend to give you 15-30 but its still pretty fucked. In DOA5 I used to take a break from playing and gettin trashed online by going and unlocking a couple outfits in Arcade or Survival and that really wouldn't work here. Starting tonight after maintenance they'll have it to where rewards are multiplied by 10 for the release event. Which I'll probably spend that time just grinding for all the unlockables while I can, and they really oughta just leave it multiplied after that.
Netcode is good. The majority of the matches I played were lag free and my internet is usually shit in general so that's good.
And outside of the it being really scant in nature, I did like most of the story that was there. It actually was sorta DOA5.5, starting from scratch as to who Honoka and Marie and Nyotengu and Even-More-Evil-Raidou were since they were basically DLC characters without much in game context. Marie and Honoka naturally stuck out like sore thumbs but in a pretty amusing way. Like watching Christie escaping via helicopter with an unconscious busty anime schoolgirl under her arm or Bayman walking around with a gothic lolita over his shoulder. Nyotengu's arc sorta went nowhere but as a character she is a hugely welcome addition to the cast and I hope she somehow appears in Nioh 2, and gladly apparently more story for her is the focus of the possible story DLC according to Shimbori and them. Diego and NiCO too. Diego was fun in his final bout with Jann Lee I was like "man that just overloaded with hypermasculinity" and then I was awarded the title "Manly Men" and that really cinched the tone, though a shame that Leifang and Jann Lee still in its holding pattern. And NiCO I really love playing and it was funny to watch them make excuses earlier in the story while she was just working in the lab with Christie as to how a fight needed to break out and so everything anyone said to her just pissed her off. Same with Kokoro! Actually everyone is just fuckin sisters now! That was some great soap opera bullshit! But again felt so skimmed from the lack of episodes. And Frankenstein Raidou was a thing I wasn't really excited for but it coulda been worse in the end. Guess after all that I need to go peruse the encyclopedia.
After all that not much left to do except start grinding ranked and hoping for good updates coming soon. And that's the thing I been seeing a lot of people even DOA fans online saying they just wanna wait on a complete edition release and like maybe that'd be a good idea. I hope the initial release does well, but it is lacking. They announced this last June and are releasing it now so its fair to say this game maybe had a bare single year development in a new third party engine while they also probably have their team working on Dissidia, Musou, Venus Vacation, and Nioh 2 at the same time so yeah, a good chance the trimmings of this game had to be cut down on just to make sure they released the game within a year with the core elements as good as they are. Just gotta hope they put out good updates.

My personal top-10 games of 2017
With 2017 slowly fading, it feels like my favorite games of the year are locked firmly in place. 2017 was a strong year and while it was hard compiling a list of my favorite games, I also feel pretty good about my list. That said, there are some games that I didn’t get around to playing that I feel had a good chance of making my list if I had gotten around to them. They are: Nioh, Resident Evil VII, Trails in the Sky 3 and Golf Story. After I finish Xenoblade Chronicles 2, I think I wanna tackle RE VII. Alas. Only so much time in the day. So, let’s get started.
10-) Splatoon 2 - Not the most original sequel ever made, but I had a lot of fun with it. Splatoon 2 carries a lot of what made the first one so great over to the Switch. There are some new features - including new weapons and a wave-based mode where a squad of human players takes on AI called Salmon Run - but it’s mostly more of the same. Given that this is only the second Splatoon I can look past that. I had a lot of fun with it and am happy that people who couldn’t experience the original on the Wii U can fool around with it now.
9-) Tekken 7 - I have a lot of love for the Tekken series. I remember renting and playing Tekken 3 for hours. I once wrote a way-too-long column about how Tekken 5 was like a love letter to fans. 7 was just a really solid new addition to the franchise. The character customization was super deep and allowed for very unique feeling takes on familiar fighters. It also has both Akuma and Geese, which is the closest we’ll ever get to a Capcom vs. SNK 3 it feels like.
Tumblr media
8-) Sonic Mania - I don’t buy into the belief that there has never been a good 3D Sonic game and I certainly don’t buy into there never being ANY good Sonic games. That said, I will definitely say that the series has had far more spotty entries than good ones. When I first beat it, I think I suggested that it was better than Sonic 3 and Knuckles. That’s insane. A Sonic game in 2017 is at least on par with 3+K, a game many consider to be the best Sonic game ever. And it’s made by fans! If I had to describe my experience with Sonic Mania in one word it’d be: joy. Shame Sonic Forces also came out this year, robbing me of all my blue blur joy.
7-) The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild - It feels insane to me that Zelda is only ranked at 7, but that’s how strong 2017 was to me personally. Breath of the Wild brought an entirely fresh feeling to the very stale Zelda franchise. Honestly, I hated Skyward Sword. I didn’t have a whole lot of hype for Zelda. If it wasn’t a launch game with the Switch, I might have waited to give it a go. ...Obviously the hype around it would have brought me in eventually. And it was totally different. It brought a world that was fun to explore with mechanics that were fun to tinker and experiment with. For weeks, people would post videos of them doing weird things with the various objects in the game. It’ll be interesting to see what a new Zelda game does. Will it be another big open world? Is this the new face of Zelda?
6-) Cuphead - Aesthetically one of my favorite looking games ever made. It legitimately looks like a 1920′s era cartoon in motion. The visuals only aid in how great the game plays. It not only has a retro aesthetic, but in the gameplay department it also brings with it a retro-feeling difficulty. You have to memorize boss patterns, look for visual cues and have a quick trigger finger in order to survive. With the difficulty also comes the sheer joy of beating boss that is just dominating the hell out of you. I feel like I struggled for over an hour on this clown boss. I almost feel like I got lucky even beating him. His stupid charlie horses always popped up at inappropriate times. But when I managed to win, it felt like I really accomplished something. My only complaint about it is that I wish there were no run-and-gun levels. I just wanted to not play them and get back to the boss battles. They felt like an after-thought.
Tumblr media
5-) Danganronpa V3: Killing Harmony - I did not see this game hitting me as hard as it did. I enjoyed the first two Danganronpas and even endured the anime, which served as a conclusion to the storyline that played out in the first two. DRV3 plays much like the first two games, but where it shines is the story. A big twist occurs in the first chapter and the hits just keep coming after that. Then chapter 6 hits and brings with it one of the best plot twists and endings I have ever seen in a video game. I’m not going to spoil the ending in case a person who wants to play DRV3 stumbles across this list somehow, but the last couple hours of the game hits the player hard and makes you think about narrative and story telling in general in a really interesting way. One of my favorite bits towards the end involves real life things about the game, like the logo. It’s just well thought out and compelling. Even if you’ve never played a Danganronpa, play this game. It also introduced my favorite character of the year Kokichi Ouma.
4-) Nier Automata - A sequel to Nier making my personal top-10 list probably isn’t that shocking. What is shocking is that Nier Automata has garnered praise from all over the gaming world and has become something of a surprise hit for Square Enix. There’s a good reason for this. Automata’s visual style, amazing music and depressing story telling help create a compelling world for the player. The story, as everybody is probably aware, is the real star of the show. It makes you ponder about life and humanity in ways rarely touched on in video games. One of the endings to the game, E, is one of the most effective ever. It really speaks to the player. I’m sure I’m not alone in sitting at the decision you need to make and really pondering it. The gameplay is also solid, but honestly a little weak for a Platinum game. Nier Automata feels like a miracle of a game and I’m thrilled that it has taken off as much as it has.
3-) Super Mario Odyssey - This game was just a pure delight. For years, it felt like they just weren’t making Mario games I was terribly interested in. I would never say Mario 3D World was a bad video game, but it just wasn’t what I wanted out of a Mario. It felt like a 2D Mario game in everything but the 3D gameplay. Mario Odyssey brings back the big worlds filled with objects to find seen in 64, Sunshine and Galaxy. The worlds were all really interesting too. I think everybody was excited to see New Donk City (Metro Kingdom), but to actually run around a realistic looking world as Mario really just feels surreal. It’s just great. It’s interesting to think about how Nintendo’s two biggest franchises took two different but equally successful approaches. Zelda completely flipped the script and tried to do something different. Mario refined what made some older Mario games great. Mario felt like a really polished Mario game, and honestly most years that will put it up there as one of the best games of the year.
2-) Yakuza 0 - I had always wanted to try to get into the Yakuza series before this year. The story just seemed too daunting to get into. There’s a lot of it, after all. I decided to give Yakuza 0 a shot because of its nature as the first chronologically in the series. I also saw hilarious screenshots, which helped to further my decision. I was hooked. Yakuza 0 not only tells an amazing story, but it gives you a world with a ton of things to do. There are amazing mini games - I found myself hooked to the Maid Cafe in particular - and a ton of sub stories to experience. You get to meet characters like NOT MICHAEL JACKSON, you can play Outrun, you can become a real estate mogul. Honestly, Yakuza 0 does a better job of creating what feels like a living, breathing city than even a Grand Theft Auto. Also, I just love Goro Majima. This game was so good that I played through Yakuza 1(Kiwami)-5 just to see what would happen to Kiryu and Majima. That’s not an insignificant chunk of playing time. But the world and story weaved by Yakuza 0 was so strong that I knew I wanted to be along for the ride. Play these games.
Tumblr media
1-) Persona 5 - I had to think long and hard about whether Yakuza would top Persona. In the end, I honestly feel both games are among my favorite games ever made. Persona 5 seems like a title that was made specifically for me. It is amazingly slick, has some of the best music I’ve ever heard in a video game (Specifically Rivers in the Desert), and features a cast of characters that I really deeply cared about. I wanted to see more of their lives and I was actually sad when Persona 5 ended because I knew it’d be a while before I saw Makoto Niijima or Yusuke Kitagawa again. There are things I’d like to see Persona 6 work on - it’d be great to see your confidants interact with more people for instance - but Persona 5 was a gripping experience and really spoke to me at times. And honestly, sometimes it’s fun to turn your brain off and just grind against demons in a dungeon. It was a close race, but I knew Persona 5 would be my favorite game of the year before the year started. It’s nice to be right for a change.
That’s all for now. I know this is tl;dr, but I wanted to write out my favorite games somewhere.

Actually, I'm going to put my money where my mouth is on that point about trans women, futanaris, and fanfiction (a collection of words I didn't think I'd EVER have in the same sentence, let alone in this context) a few days ago and reference something that does it well.
NIOH 2 Novelization by the Ao3 user Pandora1119 has the main character Hide as a trans woman and actually writes that aspect seriously, at least in terms of the pronouns and all that. Now, I'm not a trans person, so I can't say how well the representation is, but as a writer I can confidently say that they kept that aspect of the character in mind as they wrote Hide's story. This is first and foremost a novelization of NIOH 2, all the major plot beats happen, all the major characters are there, and there's a lot of context given to explain Hide's initial lack of personality and general lack of solid story beats. The fanfic actively explains why Hide is a silent protagonist, they give a stronger reason for Tokichiro to find jealousy with Hide as they rise through the ranks, they remember that Hide is technically a member of the Saito clan and play into that more. They do a lot of things that sell me on Hide as a character and give them some depth.
As far as the trans aspect goes, it honestly doesn't come up in a major way until about... I wanna' say the end of Act 1, the death of Saito Yoshitatsu (not a spoiler, that happens in game too), and even then it's only teased out. The trans aspect comes about mostly as a parallel to Hide being a Shiftling, a human-youkai hybrid that can change their form at will and is unable to fit into more acceptable social circles due to it, an outsider no matter how much they try to help the common, normal people of the world. Again, not trans, so can't say how much being a half-demon superhuman who can summon magical demon weapons and do ninja magic coincides with the trans experience, but just in terms of parallels and theming it works out to the story's benefit.
I'd love to go more in depth with this, but I don't want to spoil things for those curious and I kinda' fell off this series after around chapter 20-ish. It's not bad or anything, it's just that NIOH 2's writing gets really shounen at that point and I fell off in terms of story there too. But please check it out if you're curious or want an interesting story told out of this concept.

this is off topic but have ya been playing any of FF7R or Animal Crossing New Horizons?
FF7R? Yes, not finished yet (might be mid way). I’m bouncing around finishing P5 Chinese (which I’ll switch over to P5R Chinese after I’m done), P5R English, P4G Korean, and P1 english (I swear I’ll finish one of the routes this time! DX) along with FF7R obvie ksdjsaj
Animal Crossing? Nope. Maybe I’ll play it one day. I like Harvest Moon but I don’t feel the need to play Animal Crossing atm. orz I’m trying to get through the games I already have atm (lord knows I wanna pick Nioh 2 back up again ;w;).

I watched a super-long series that was analyzing Bloodborne through like… 18th and 19th century medical practice* and now I wanna play Bloodborne again. But do like a super light Dex/Arc build—I’ve never started with the Threaded Cane and I should. But 1) I should replay Sekiro before I replay Bloodborne, 2) I’m still playing Triangle Strategy** and 3) I have at least 5 other new video games that need playing also,*** and like maybe a few hours a week in which to do all this. So here we are.
*By a YouTuber (about whom I know nothing) called charredthermos. It’s presented in a way that makes me wanna go “okay dude, calm down,” but he makes some fascinating connections nonetheless.
**Which I’m enjoying for the most part. Sometimes I feel like I’m sitting there without doing anything for way too long and I wish it were a little more… I dunno better written? than it is, but I’m still on board. I’m playing blind; I have no idea what ending I’m gonna get, but that’s the fun part. I’ll do a Golden Route playthrough later. (I’m in Chapter… 13? 14? Retook Glenbrook and now Patriatte or whatever his little-bitch name is is trying his hand.)
***to wit: The Last of Us Part 2, Jedi: Fallen Order, Horizon: Forbidden West, Dragon Quest XI, and Tactics Ogre Reborn. Plus at some point I wanna finish Nioh 2 and Yakuza: Like a Dragon. So yeah. It never ends.

Hey! It’s a bit of a late notice, but I streamed last night, and I’m going to stream again tonight!
Nioh is fuckin’ rad, of course I wanna keep playing it. (It’s not gonna stop me from playing in non-stream times though.)
Anyway, I’ll start around 11pm...a little over an hour.
See you there! :D
