My mind is like so clear rn about what actually bothers me about Downpours canonicity status right now but I'm supposed to be getting comfy so I can't. Go on too much of a ramble

I just finished yfnsm and I'm still processing it.

Do I think it's (objectively) better written and developed than MSM? Heck yes.

Does it beat MSM as my favorite Spider-Man show? HELL NO.

I loved and enjoyed with all my being every single episode of YFNSM, don't get me wrong.

BUT one thing that made MSM so special to me was the development of Peter and Harry's relationship. Doesn't matter if you ship them or not, it is a reality that the first season of MSM was heavily based on the fact that Harry was Peter's best friend since they were very very young and despite that, Peter couldn't tell him his biggest secret. ALL BECAUSE OF NORMAN. In the Spider-Man vs Norman Osborn situation, Peter didn't want Harry to be collateral damage. However HARRY STILL WAS COLLATERAL DAMAGE. His project at the Horizon High expo, his inventions, his FRIENDSHIP with Peter AND his freedom all got caught in this situation and suffered indirectly because of Peter being Spider-Man. It also got reversed in season 2 with Harry faking an Europe trip to keep Peter safe and out of the Norman Osborn stuff. And in the end, in season 3 (if you can call that a season ig) Harry ended up taking Peter's side and choosing the opportunity to be FREE.

Yes, I loved the "Go get 'em tiger!" But nothing NOTHING can compare to Peter saying "My loyalty is to you, not to Spider-Man." Peter basically saying I'm more loyal to you than I am to myself.

THIS IS NOT ME THROWING SHADE AT YFNSM! It's just me being in love and absolutely obsessed with MSM. In case you internet people want to twist my words, I can like both iterations of the Spider-Man story and still have a personal preference and I have all the right to explain it here. It's my blog after all.

I could also make a post about everything I thought was great about YFNSM, but to do that properly I'd need a rewatch because I don't like to speak opinions out of pure memory of a show I only have watched once so far. So, first of all let me say, I did not enjoy this issue as much as I’ve enjoyed the rest of the content Mr watters has provided us. But I think that’s more based on my prior expectations and hopes rather than the writing style.

I said I'd work on some villain sketches tonight so I did!!! I'm not totally in love with my Shredder design just yet- mostly just the armor. I can't reveal his actual face jus tyet cause spoilers and all that big teehee

Baron Draxum, however, I put a lot of thought into his design and I actually really like what I've got so far. I decided yes actually I am going to lean into the Catholicism fuckery cause it's my religious trauma and I can get silly if I want to. Anyway his motivations have changed (not really actually)

His main goal is still to get the turtles back ( he created them with research funded by the government - they also fund the church but without proof of his research going places they've decided to no longer fund him)

It's kind of like in FMA:Brotherhood where the state alchemists have annual tests to determine whether or not their research is worth pursuing otherwise they lose their state alchemist title. It's sort of like that. Baron Draxum is a 'Catholic' priest, it's a bit warped due to being in the hidden city, but it's still definitely a Catholic church. He's also a scientist, I think in this warped version specifically they have kind of combined science and religon?

I'm still working on it.

Anyway, Baron Draxum created the turtles because he was experimenting with the mutagen, which he created.

( created from a mystery substance that the sort of underworld creatures - not sure if I wanna call em yokai yet, probably not- that birthed the hidden city creatures/mutated them way way wayyyy far back ?? again, wip onthat front) .

He originally used it to further advance his botanical studies, but then got a little silly an thought ' hmm wonder if this can change animals/humans' and yeah it can, but there's a very specific DNA trait you have to have (wip) or else it will just sort of destroy your system :/ that bit's a wip as well. Lots of this is wip stuff cause I never planned on getting so into this iteration LMAO

ANYWAY- he wasn't too impressed by Splinter because he initially didn't transform, but the turtles showed signs that they had been significantly changed. Splinter managed to escape with the turtles to the surface. He then transformed into a rat :/

Then Splinter fucking goes back to the hidden city o purpose because he knows he can have a social life there smh. Local rat man lonely so he goes back to the place where he got turned into said rat man. He's got his own issues tho-

I love seeing your TMNT iteration and I just saw your Mondo post and I know you’re being bombarded right now and this is a no way hate! :) I find it very interesting how Mondo is such a jerk in this one, especially compared to how he was very close with Mikey and he’s always been super friendly and fun in others and this was a total 180 which is a really fascinating turn

I was going to make nugz as a bartender in the aqua TV show show and the guys are regulars there.

Shake likes to chat with the bartender often and steals glances at them any chance he can get, even showing off many of the things he has stolen to them and nugz would actually have knowledge of the artifacts they stole and their worth.

Frylock in the aqua TV show show values nugz usefulness and capability I would even say he himself also likes nugz. After the show the two always talk and nugz gives them good locations for heists and whatnot and even hooking them up with certain disguises if the need em.

Aqua Unit Patrol Squad

Nugz in this au is shakes assistant and they help with paperwork that shake has and also helps out meatwad too and it's a LOT OF paperwork-

Shake likes to of course crack jokes and flirt with nugz, but he kind of plays with their feelings a lot- as they see him around with other women sometimes so they just back off a lot ���� But shake does secretly does have strong feelings for them but like the man doesn't know how to reciprocate the feelings back and avoids it a lot...

Frylock in this au is indeed the intelligence of the group, but definitely helps nugz out in anyway he can with the paperwork. Of course he cares for nugz just as much and even offered nugz to be his assistant instead- to which shake immediately would retaliate- so he tried to back off, but doesn't like seeing nugz so miserable all the time.

director's commentary sdau emerald scene

You know, I really should have seen this coming but I didn't.

Let's put it under a cut bc moderate spice and considerable length:

This scene went through more iterations and re-writes than the vast majority of its brethren.

I dug around in our chat history to find the exact moment we generated the idea, because this one wouldn't have happened without you. and you know what I learned?

it dates to mid-January 2023, which is literally before I started posting newsbees. this idea is OLD. it is some of the EARLIEST MATERIAL of sdau.

I told you I was reading this for fic research in the middle of an unrelated discussion about Emerald; you then joked that all you could think about was Emerald at the sex club giving vytal fic vibes, just bored out of her skull while people throw themselves at her, and I said I hadn't come up with a role for her yet.

you: emerald would try to go to the sex club after getting out of a toxic relationship the way blake did and then she'd be there for 15 minutes and nope the fuck out and run away me: which, actually-- she could be one of blake's one-off partners where after about 5 minutes blake's like "you are allowed to leave we really don't have to do this" and em's like OHTHANKGOD

I briefly considered a much crueler idea in which Blake witnessed Emerald and Cinder doing a scene together, but we quickly agreed that the original idea was the better one.

I haven't been able to find chat history about it, so I'm moderately certain that I didn't tell you about the fact that I'd decided to read poor Emerald for filth and give her the Mommy kink until I started showing you the scene in its original incarnation, in mid-July of 2023 (which has the benefit of showing just how long this project has taken me, lmao).

me: emerald. sweetheart. when you say mommy kink most people assume that means you wanna be coddled and not that you want to be negged. just. just saying me: emerald do you know what mothers are me: emerald

That first version of the scene differed in several keys ways from the final product, but the most crucial of those was that in the first go-around, Blake actually agreed to give Emerald her number. Em asked for it, and Blake said "Sure, I'd like that," and then the scene ended.

I sat on that for *checks time stamps* approximately 29 hours before I broke the news to you that, upon reflection, I didn't buy it; I just couldn't believe that Blake would be in a healthy enough place mentally to do that. the better and more accurate thing for the story would be for Blake to chicken out and then regret it, because she couldn't be for Em what Sun had been for her.

you: oh no why are you doing that it makes me sad me: because if blake is in a cool enough place to do that with em her actually exchanging numbers with yang doesn't hit as hard you: but now I'm so sad me: i mean it's still ME i'm sure i'll find a way for her to encounter em again before the end

(hmmm. Did I do that in the end? I SUPPOSE WE'LL HAVE TO WAIT AND FIND OUT, DEAR READERS.)

from there, once I'd figured out what the scene was truly for, it was still a lot of effort and tweaking before I got it to read how I wanted to: threading the simultaneous needles of being lowkey arousing but also inarguably unsettling from the jump, so that you're seeing those red flags but maybe, like Blake, thinking they can be overcome until it's very obvious they Can't. I struggled with how to frame it so that it came through that Blake was being... mmm, let's say reckless without crossing the line into Blake being irresponsible, and I wasn't happy with my first stabs at it. in the very first draft, after Em says says she doesn't want to discuss her burn scar and adds "There, that's a boundary, since you wanted one so bad," the prose goes 'There is absolutely no way they are fucking at this point, given Emerald's attitude, and… Blake doesn't know why she stays.'

Which: why would I tell the reader that? It's way too on the nose, and drains the scene of all tension! it also made the spanking moment read as overtly didactic in a way that I didn't like and hadn't intended, so. I tried to drill down into what I thought it was about.

adding the flashback moments to Blake's encounter with Trifa helped considerably; that wasn't in the first draft at all, though the fact that she'd had that encounter was already canon. taking a look at it again, I realized weaving those two together was an opportunity to show why Blake "lets" Emerald make this mistake and indulges her, because it's the same thing Blake went through and she understands it. massaging the tempo and timbre of my vocab took some doing so Blake wasn't in full-on panic attack mode and thus making it all seem WORSE than it already was.

and the final thing I changed was just... twisting that knife more and adding to their rapport. the original draft was brief; it went right from Emerald giving the Cinder backstory to Blake being like "congrats on past tense" and then it was the phone number ask. it was important to me to elaborate on why these two had chemistry, on how they were parallel, and on just how much they liked each other and vibed-- on just how much of an opportunity Blake was missing out on. so Blake laughing more at Em's jokes, and getting the Mercury context, that all came later.

in total, I think this scene had like five or six discrete iterations before reaching its final form.

With Emily being such a chronic overthinker, it was a poor choice of phrase. _y/n_ saw the look of insecurity and maybe sadness play out on Em’s face, and before _y/n_ could say anything, Prentiss asked, “Are you breaking up with me, _y/n? I thought we were doing good/” _y/n_ shook their head no rapidly and said, “Em. I’m not saying that at all, just let me explain.” Em sat back in her kitchen chair, crossed her arms over her chest, and said, “Please do,” _y/n_ took a deep breath. They knew Emily loved them. Had loved them for nearly a year, and the reactions _y/n_ was getting made sense given Emily’s past of being dumped just when a relationship seemed to be working out. However, the defensive wall _y/n_’s partner had so easily thrown up after months of breaking them down now had _y/n_ concerned. What if Emily wouldn’t love them like this? Emily’s hyper-focus on details and consistency was rubbing off on _y/n_and made them question whether or not to share the truth. But in a second, their whole relationship up till that point flashed before _y/n_’s eyes. It had started in the gym. 

It was all thanks to Penelope, who had made a New Year's resolution to move more. Nothing more than that. No weight loss goals, no need for a summer body, just a desire to move because it felt good. Emily was happy to help Garcia out because she had made a bet with Derek in October about the upcoming FBI fitness test in March. Prentiss had overheard Morgan telling another male agent, who was overconfident and under-muscled for the claims he was making, that he was going to beat all of his personal bests in the fitness test. Emily scoffed and said, “Really Derek. You say that every year.” Morgan looked over to Em and replied with a teasing tone, “And I mean it every year. You wanna make a bet on it?” Prentiss knew this was all in good fun, and said, “You’re on. What are the terms?” Derek steepled his hands and replied, “If I don’t get personal best’s next exam, then you can set me up on a blind date. But, the same goes for you. You’ve got to beat all of your personal records, and if you don’t, then I set you up on a blind date.” Emily smiled because this was the exact kind of shenanigans they got into when she was more relaxed between cases. It gave both her and Morgan something to think about outside of work. Prentiss stuck out her, and Derek took it  while saying, “You’re on.” So, when Penelope talked about wanting to move more, Emily recommended the Zumba class she took on Saturday evenings. Penelope was hesitant at first, but when Em described it as “angry dancing,” Garcia got on board quickly. 

Emily hadn’t believed in Zumba either, that was until her pilates class got canceled one day. Zumba was the only class on offer and despite her hesitations, Prentiss went. Prentiss was so happy that she did because the class turned out to be very relaxing and a good workout at the same time. It didn’t hurt that the person next to her was very cute in their _y/f/c_ crop top and long socks. Prentiss started coming back to Zumba more and more, and the young woman was always there just vibing with the music no matter what was going on. Their positivity was infectious. When Penelope joined the class for a session a week later, Emily and the tech genius had a great time. So good a time that they agreed to go to drinks after because what was the point of working out if you couldn’t have some fun as a reward? As the duo passed by the weight room, one of the gym bros waiting for a squat rack to open up looked over at Emily and said, “Hey babe, wanna come over here and spot me? And maybe you should tell Blondie to come back sometime. She might fit in here.” Emily was so mad that the man had commented about her friend, who was happy and healthy, that she just froze. The man laughed at Penelope’s hurt face, but a voice from behind Emily and Garcia wiped the smile off his face real quick as _y/n_ said, “Hey, asshole. Let me tell you something. Muscles don’t fucking mean anything if there’s not a heart underneath all of them. So keep pumping iron, but consider getting a brain and some self-awareness before commenting on someone you don’t know and is a hell of a lot braver than you because she showed up despite having to deal with dickheads like you.” At _y/n_’s comments, both Emily and Penelope looked at _y/n_ with wide, impressed eyes. Emily knew _y/n_ immediately. It was the woman she had been secretly admiring for a month now. The woman’s beauty was amplified as she demonstrated not only energy, but didn't tolerate bad behavior, and standing up for someone she didn’t know. When the guy at the rack moved toward them, particularly toward _y/n_ with a frown on his face. Emily stepped in front of _y/n_ and said with all the authority of an FBI profiler, “Sit down.” The man hesitated. Finally, he moved back to where he was with his head down, muttering under his breath. 

While Em was using her scary dog privileges, _y/n_ pulled Penelope toward the stairs saying, “Don’t listen to that douch bag. You were great in class.” Garcia smiled and said, “Thanks. That was nice of you to say. I’m Penelope Garcia, by the way.” _y/n_ smiled and said, “I’m _y/n_, _l/n_. Nice to meet you, Penelope.” As they started talking, Emily joined them, and Garcia introduced _y/n_ to Prentiss. Pen asked _y/n_ if she wanted to join them for drinks. _y/n_ who hadn’t made many friends since moving to D.C., agreed. As _y/n_ and changed in the dressing room, _y/n_ couldn’t help but look at Emily and admire her strength. _y/n_ had been looking at Emily since she’d joined the class. Unfortunately, _y/n_ was terrible with flirting and asking people out, so the admiration had been one-sided. At least she thought it had been. At the bar, the trio’s conversation was natural and easy. More than that, Penelope could see how Emily was looking at and talking to _y/n_ like she was the most important thing there. When _y/n_ had gone to the restroom, Garcia had said, “Emily if you don’t ask her out at the end of this get-together, I’m going to scream.” Prentiss retorted, “Pen, I just know her from the gym and this meeting. Don’t you think that’s moving a little fast?” Garcia smiled, now knowing for sure that Emily liked _y/n_. The tech replied, “Emily's life is short, if she says no, then you can move your pining elsewhere.” Garcia took a long sip of her Cosmo before adding on, “ By the way _y/n_ was giving you the same big doe eyes you were giving her, so…” And that was how _y/n_ had been asked out on a date by Emily. 

The first date was at a local farmers market. _y/n_ and Emily strolled the stalls, got lemonade, and sat in the shade as a local band played in the background. They talked about their hobbies and dating preferences. That was there _y/n_ had learned that Em was mostly dating women at this point in her life. And Prentiss had learned that _y/n_ was new to dating women. They’d said, “I’m just trying to figure everything out. I hope that doesn’t sound dismissive. I just want to be honest, when it comes to dating, sometimes I don’t know what I’m doing, But if you’re willing to put up with me, I’d enjoy figuring it out with you.” Emily had agreed, and they went on a second and third date. Over time _y/n_ learned about the team and why Emily could be so serious sometimes and more relaxed when she was not on a case. 

One night at _y/n_’s house, while cooking dinner, _y/n_ admitted, “You know, I didn’t realize that dating and being interested in women was an option until way later in my life. I feel like I spent years looking for the perfect person and love at first sight, but I wasn’t ever looking in the right place.” Em nodded as she stirred the pasta in with the sauce; she replied, “I get it. Being sheltered does things to you that other people might not understand. It was such a relief to me when I figured out I could just like both. And it was more of a relief when I realized that dating doesn’t have to end in disappointment.” _y/n_ wrapped their arms around Emily’s waist and kissed the agent’s neck saying, “I’m happy too, Emily.” _y/n_ had heard Prentiss lightly reference her hesitation about dating a few times, and _y/n_ wondered if there was more to the story. _y/n_ felt that it was far enough in their relationship and asked, “Em, would you tell me what happened? Why you were so averse to dating when we met?” Prentiss turned to _y/n_ and sighed before saying, “I guess I owe you an explanation about why I seemed too hot and cold and the beginning there.” Em turned off the heat on the stove and led _y/n_ to the table. Once they sat across from each other, Emily said, “I was in a committed relationship for a year last year. I thought everything was perfect. The girl, my life, work. I thought I’d finally figured it out. I was going to propose. And then a case happened. A bad one. I got hurt. I called my then-partner, and she was hysterical. I tried to make her feel better, but she wouldn’t listen to me. She was so attached that the idea of me being hurt, of me dying on the job pushed her away. When I got home, she was gone. She took all of her stuff. It was like she never existed. I tried to call her, but she never responded. And the thing is, I get it. Anything could happen. Not everyone can deal with those odds. I don’t blame her.” _y/n_ listened and felt sorry for Emily to have been abandoned like that. _y/n_ said, “You might have understood her reasoning, but she might have told you goodbye or explained. I’m sorry you went through that, Em. Just letting you know, I don’t plan on going anywhere.” Prentiss smiled and said, “Thanks _y/n_. Do you mean that even if I can’t cook?” _y/n_ tipped her head to the side and Emily, who was facing the stove said, “Because I turned off the wrong burner and that pasta is definitely burning.” Just as _y/n_ looked back at the smoking pan on the stove, the fire alarm went off. After _y/n_ and Emily handled the situation with the crispy food, they both laughed long and hard. Em took _y/n_ out to dinner instead, and that was where they’d made their relationship official. They moved on slowly, and to _y/n_’s words, she stuck with Em through the highs and lows. And Emily did the same for _y/n_. Weathering life together, they realized, was much more enjoyable than being alone. Even in the hard times and arguments. And this reassurance made _y/n_ feel strong enough to tell Em the whole truth. 

All of the care and love that they had shared. All the late nights and early mornings. _y/n_ knew that that kind of love didn’t just go away because things changed. So _y/n_ took a deep breath and replied, “I can’t be your girl anymore because I think I’m… nonbinary.” The words hung there for a few seconds before Prentiss’s face changed from one of confusion to one of unbridled joy. Em put both of her hands across the table, and _y/n_ took them in hers. All Emily said was, “Really? For how long sweetheart?” Prentiss had noticed the subtle changes in _y/n_’s behavior and mannerisms. Of course, she had. But Emily didn’t want to read into things or press _y/n_ into talking about things she might not want to. _y/n_ took a breath and said, “Maybe a month or a little more. I’ve been thinking about it for a while, but it finally clicked after we did that charity 5K with the team.” Prentiss nodded. That had been an interesting afternoon, but she didn’t realize how much it had meant to _y/n. _y/n_ looked at Emily’s face. Even though it was jubilant, _y/n_ had to make sure. Had to hear from Emily, and _y/n_ asked, “So you’re not upset? I know you prefer dating women, but I’m not that anymore I guess.” Emily pulled _y/n_’s hands to her mouth and kissed over both sets of _y/n_’s knuckles before saying, “Of course, I’m not upset, _y/n_. You’re telling me who you are. Who the real you is. That takes courage and reflection, and I love that about you. You never back down from a challenge or a hard thing. Even if that hard thing is understanding yourself.” _y/n_ wasn’t sure why Emily’s positive words were having such an effect on them, but _y/n_’s eyes teared up, and they had to pull _y/d/h_ out of Em’s to wipe them away with their shirt sleeve. _y/n_ laughed and said, “At least I’m still emotional as I’ve always been.” That had Prentiss laugh and say, “_y/n_. Just because you feel differently about your body or gender doesn’t mean you’re just going to change in an instant. If you feel like you need to make changes, then that will happen, but you’re still you. You’re still the person I love. I will always love.” Em took a breath, feeling emotional herself before she said, “I love every possible iteration of you.” _y/n_ sniffled and asked, “What did I ever do to deserve you, Em?” They were both beaming now, and Prentiss replied, “I could ask you the same thing, _y/n_. And you know we can play at compliments forever, but do you want to talk about this more? Or do you just want to be for a bit?” _y/n_ put their chin in their hand and said, “How about a bit of both? I feel like this could be a couch conversation. 

Couch conversations were when _y/n_ and Emily sat and talked about their days. Em would talk about the office drama or the latest case, while _y/n_ dove into the details of _y/j_ and what was happening there. The couch was a place for relaxed conversation with _y/f/s_ playing in the background while they talked and laughed or complained together. Big conversations happened at the table. It was an unspoken system between them. Given Emily’s hectic and stressful life, it worked for them. As _y/n_ looked at Emily’s hand and they moved to the couch, _y/n_ wondered why they’d started this conversation at the kitchen table. _y/n_ tossed this choice, the table or the couch bounced in their head like a ping-pong ball. It was a big deal. This kind of discovery was, and talking about it with Emily was even more important, but at the same time, realizing this new facet of themself just felt like them. It finally felt like them. Because _y/n_ wasn’t sure what to make of it, they asked Prentiss because _y/n_’s partner always had something understanding to say. Sometimes _y/n_ thought Emily knew them better than they knew themself. _y/n_ chalked it up to the profiling. Once they were both seated and the TV was on low, _y/n_ asked, “Did I make this too big a deal?” Emily turned her head to _y/n_ and moved her hand to _y/n_’s jaw, stroking down _y/n_’s face. Even though Em had never had the feelings _y/n_ had about their gender, she had felt unsure about her sexuality. She understood how it felt like everything and nothing at the same time. Prentiss said, “Not at all, _y/n_. It wasn’t too big or too small. It’s important to you in the big way, and in the small mundane life things, and I’m excited to explore all of those intricacies with you. The highs and the lows. I am so excited to be with you no matter what. No matter who you are.” At that moment, _y/n_ fully understood that Emily knew them. And feeling known right now made _y/n_ feel like the most real version of themself as they’d ever been.

something i wanna use when writing teetle xovers but that i wanna wait until i actually watch the 1987 show to try and handle is like. okay. bear w/me here. i want either the 03 or the 12 iteration to be the first to interact with the 87 guys, and i want 'em to initially go "oh great, these yahoos again" or something

except then the 1987 teetles aren't flanderized??? and it turns out that after turtles forever and the 2012 xovers, 87!donatello went "ok that was uhhh really weird now that i think about it, usually we're not that flighty or just really bad at life in general" and did some research into why he, his bros, and everybody from their dimension seem to go into Major Sillymode whenever something happens involving them and the multiverse.

turns out some Greater Power™ or Force Of Nature™ beyond turtle understanding (*cough*writerswhodothe87turtlesdirty*coughcough*) starts acting up whenever the 1987 universe wibble-wobbles too close to another teetleverse.

so between the events of the 2012 xover episodes and whatever ends up happening in the xover fic, donatello builds a device that can help the 1987 universe and those who call it home make sure they stay stable and unaltered around dimensional shenaniganizing.

bonus potential to be a plot point- one or more of the 1987 turtles suddenly goes full sillymode out of the blue while the plotline continues ramping up and anybody who's aware of the stabilizer and what it's meant to do immediately goes "oh SHIT-" and just books it back to the 1987 universe

basically i want to acknowledge the events of the previous times 1987 made a comeback while also working out a way to explain their ooc actions and keep the 1987 turtles in character from their actual show. i think that'd be neat :) i just uhhh. need to get a handle on their characters from their actual show.

Since it has been a while, how has all the residents been doing?

Thank you for asking! That's actually a very good question especially after such a long time. Let me see where we all left off...

Oh! That would be lovely, thank you Key! Right, while he's gathering everyone, I believe it would be best to start with a couple general updates:

As of last posting, five Residents were unable to relate or did not have names beyond their general typing; Our multi-return Brassberry, the murder survivor Lumen, the hoarded Blue Naga, and the Wolf Duo. I'm pleased to announce that all of them now have names! While their tags haven't been updated yet, I am happy to related that our Brassberry has finally chosen to be called Locke (KeyLargo was ridiculously pleased about the choice, I think it's supposed to be a pun), the Lumen survivor managed to tell us that his name is Cream, the battered Blue Naga decided he liked the nickname Nile, and of the two SkeleWolves, the now-identified RuffFluff chose to call himself and his ShyFluff companion Skoll and Hati after the Norse legend. The ShyFluff hasn't quite gotten over being named after the wolf who chases the sun, but he seems to like it well enough and the RuffFluff genuinely seems to enjoy those legends.

Halim would also like to report that he has gotten quite a lot of help in performing the research needed to develop prosthetics for some of our more injured residents, and both Jasper and Spike have been fitted with suitable prosthetics to compensate for their lost appendages. While there's still a lot of research to be done, we did get ahold of a few monster scientists and have been renting time at the local MakerSpace to utilize their resin and filament 3D printers. Jasper is on the sixth iteration of his prosthetic arm, while Spike is on the third iteration of his replacement hand. I'm hoping with these advancements, we'll eventually be able to create other assistive devices for disabled and injured bitties, like our own Pepper the Papython with his stunted tail. He's currently working with a prototype wheelchair and has been having great fun smacking into everyone's ankles.

There is also some bittersweet news in regards to Chase the Twister and Whisper the Meek. Unfortunately, Chase Fell Down after almost a year in our care, and Dusted after about three weeks in the coma-like state. After speaking extensively with the therapist he was visiting on a weekly basis as well as a few specialists in the near area, his endurance of a full year with a broken bond is entirely unprecedented, and it's thought that the cause of his Falling Down was related to the permanent drop in his HP after the incident. Halim tells me that Chase very likely caught an illness at some point and refused to tell anyone about it until it was too late to help, and he passed gently in his sleep. We spread his Dust over the bay window seat he ended up enjoying most during his stay. Whisper, on the other hand, has become a part of the Crew. After a long time searching for his original owner, he finally decided that it was no longer worth the heartache, and instead focused on making his stay at the Sanctuary the best he could possibly make it. While he still defaults to Circular Gallifreyan as his first written language, he has become quite fluent in English as well as American Sign Language and has been helping Code with the construction of a speech pad small enough for Bitty Bones to use. He's also taken it upon himself to learn how to identify panic responses and the long email chains he has with Chase's former therapist tell me that he is looking into seeing if he can learn psychology to help out around the Center.

A'ight, so, Mama's Litter. S'what we call the group that needs special focused attention basically 24/7, an' Mama's basically hard wired for that kinda care. She's got Princess helpin' t'take care of Purr, little guy's got some kinda allergy t'the resins we been tryin' for prosthetics so he's got arm crutches for now. Teddy took to 'er really well, seen 'im braidin' stuff in 'er fur. He's doin' well on that lotus tea, too, hasn't had any heat flare ups since we got the right dosage figured.

Ah, who else... Oh, yeah.

Skoll an' Hati, the wolf duo, they've been doin' well with Mama keepin' 'em in line. Think she considers 'em -like- older kits, she doesn't fuss over them as much as Sunny an' the littles.

Lessee... You talk about the Support Classes?

What Ed means is our specialists working in the background and helping keep the Center running. Halim is our head medic, and he's recently got a scholarship to take further classes at the local community college. He's teaching Van some of the more advanced stuff, and there's a bi-monthly First Aid refresher for everyone on the Crew.

Bahadur is our resident chef, and he actually did a 9 month course on nutritional science at the local trade school. Al and Jasper both help him out from time to time, but he enjoys making meals for everyone and likes to ensure that every bite is full of love and good intentions.

Speaking of Jasper, I forgot to mention that Saffron and Coils, his original housemates? They're expecting a clutch soon! It was a bit of surprise for everyone, most of us at the Center kind of forgot that bonded mates -well- mate, and I was not aware of bitty prophylactics until far too late in the game. Saffron is carrying the clutch, which hasn't helped his paranoia, but Coils has really come into his own now that his tail is fully healed and has taken it upon himself to build a proper home for them and their coming babybones. Well, 'build'. He talked to Sharptooth, who talked to Ed, who talked to Al, who talked to Whisper, who has open access to my laptop for his psychology lessons... About two weeks after finding out about the clutch, I got a massive package under my name delivered from a local carpenter who thought he was making a giant guinea pig hutch. It's an excellent house, don't get me wrong, but there's a reason I removed all my card information from my computer and Whisper got grounded for three days.

Honest to the Angel, I swear I did not know the kid was gonna do that.

I don't blame you, Ed, you're not omniscient. This stuff happens sometimes.

Anyway, I think that's most of the big developments.

Cream and Spike have gotten really close, Pocket and Bobbin are still touch averse to wildly different degrees, Moon has been having a BLAST getting up to mischief with Code and Sharptooth, Nile woke up and became a total motormouth... Oh! Grassy is learning to read and write in Braille, since most of his vision never returned, and the Meeratale Trio had their baby and are currently riding high on the fact their abusive previous owner won't be getting out of prison for another 18 months and can never come near them again. Jerkoff got blacklisted from every bitty associated agency across four states and still has to pay child support. It's incredible.

I am-? Oh! Vela and Cu!

Vela has recovered almost entirely from his broken state when he was originally brought in, he needs to wear a brace where his leg got a small infection and didn't heal correctly, but he's getting around just fine and has started up a sci-fi debate club of sorts.

Cu Chullain, I am extremely proud to announce, has started going to school! On the internet. Because he's still got some pretty severe separation anxiety. He's literally napping in the collar of my sweater right now. But-! He's learned a lot of English and while he's still mostly non-verbal, he can read and write and actually provided some useful testimony that helped the state take down three more bitty fighting rings apparently all being run under the same shell corporation.

Pretty cool he recognized the head guy on TV that one time.

Oh yeah, that gave me a hell of a spook when he launched down the back of my shirt though. Took us -what- twenty minutes to get him to calm down?

At least that, yeah.

RW SHIPS

idk why but i just wanna rant about some RW ships that i think are cool/work in my AU

first up, its a classic, ArtiHunter, heck im already having it in my AU, its simple, easy, works very well, and is the first RW ship i found out about thanks to @pansear-doodles, literally one of the first people i saw on this website

next, also a simple classic, heck one of the devs (@faelingdraws) likes it, FishStick. while it wouldn't work in my AU, i still like it. reason it wont work: Spearmaster is literally a child in an adults body, so Rivulet acts more like a big sister to him then anything. but if i didnt make it so SRS pumped him full of steroids (BIG /J) then maybe it could have worked if he aged normally?? i dont really know myself actually...

next up, freaking NightLight. while it *can* work in my AU, i decided to make Survivor and Nightcat queerplatonic, not directly dating, but both still like eachother. either way, i still like it, and it make sense

next up, idk if its actually the name, so im going by with what @scrufflesksunnide calls it, freaking Reversal. in mine it wouldn't really work, cause such and such, but if it could, it might have been cool, but i would still have gone with NightLight, either way, i still like it

next up, G⨂dM∅de. i like it, its very cool, but wouldn't work in my AU since Saint doesn't like Enot all that much, and Martyr freaking hates her for no reason. but overall, cool ship, would view again 👍

after that, KarmaFl⨂wer. wouldn't work in mine at all since Saint and Arti are technically siblings (dont tell em), but i still like its concept

next up, BathBomb. its alright, while it could work in my AU, never considered it once, its aight, but i like others more, like ArtiHunter FishStick

final one for this. i think LilyPad. if i decided to made scugerators (of which we need more of, more iterators as slugcats!), then i might do it, but as iterators, im more, meh, about it, but as i said, if i did make them as slugcats, i might consider it

i'm gon repost my old headcanons on her

• she really wishes her surrounding circumstances were in some kind of way special but actually she's built at the least unique place with basically nothing neat happening nearby. there are strange giant cherry trees nearby, but that's about it • LOVES lizards. she's the one who made the Cyans and sent some over to Pebbles to fuck him up. thankfully, as we all know, Cyans are kinda stupid and since they launch themselves over edges of cliffs they haven't managed to destroy the local ecosystem • her citizens used to keep lizards as pets. most of the time just for the joy of having 0 braincells creature follow you around while looking pretty, but some had 'em as sort of hunting dogs • was the one who created The Rivulet. she was mumbling to herself and a friend smth about how boys only screw things up while engineering Riv's genome • she BASICALLY packed Riv into a cannon and shot them over right into the middle of a scav toll cuz "come on, it's not that far away. this will make your journey shorter and shit". i don't care how goofy it sounds, this is how it went in my heart • in possession of probably the most durable comms ever made • claims she's purple! she's actually fake out purple which means homegirl is Deceptive Blue. she CONSTANTLY fights over this with Pebbles • despite their squabbles she did care for Pebbles. she was very excited to not be the youngest anymore and getting to baby someone

• her and Nish always start verbal sparring matches, often consisting of threats that more often than not range on impossible to actually commit. they constantly lead their mock wars in #general. Moon's gonna kill 'em one of these days • trusts Moon the most- which is why she outed Pebbles' rot and sent Rivulet with the instructions to extract the rarefaction cell • her city is called Sermo [that means "conversation"] • city's representative instrument was a shamisen. she absolutely knows how to play it and loves to threaten people with the bachi

some additional stuff: • Nish is Innocence's Mentor. just like Suns was Pebbles'. they however have a much healthier relationship than those two • her outfit is supposed to be based off of a Vietnamese folk dress • she's a member of the Phone Operator Guild, which is why her comm. systems are so durable • the friend mentioned up there is that Murder of Crows oc of mine • my Inn is basically Candace Flynn. of course with some things different to fit into this world, Innocence's existence as an Iterator and to still be a different character. Innocence, unlike Candace, for example is more ruthless about the whole busting deal. while Candace doesn't actually want her brothers to be harmed, Innocence leaked the Rot information specifically to punish Pebbles with how much it would hurt him • she's obsessed with seeing and knowing things. so way later in the Iterators' lifespan, one of her structure's legs buckle and she smacks her puppet's face badly enough that it caves in and destroys both of her eyes • because of the Citadel pearl: - Innocence knows how to appreciate simple beauty like dust floating in rays of the sun - she likes feeding her lizards personally. she'd probably attempt becoming a cook if she had the means or reason - "defeating an opponent in a debate contest, and being applauded by fellow team members" is something she deeply desires and it shapes her as a tattletail/talker

you mentioned wanting to do more traditional art in sketchbooks but being worried about making waste and was thinking you could maybe do smthn like auctioning off the sketchbook once it's full?

Actually sketchbooks are the only trad art i dont consider waste bc it takes me ages to fill one out (im like on year 4 of my current one thats barely halfway done) and i can put em up on my shelf. I dont think id ever part with em, and especially since they dont have anything good in there, its jst sloppy warm up work

My concerns with art and waste are more for the other things i wanna pursue, like book making, printmaking, clay sculpture, and sewing. As all these things: the supplies needed to do em, the trial and error prototypes needed to get good, and the successful iterations, all take up and waste space
