Happy Halloween, everyone!
I've got some good news - I've finished tallying up the results of the favourite anime survey and can now, finally, reveal what Tumblr's favourite anime actually are. To start with, I'd like to thank everyone who responded - yes, all 1172 (wow!) of you - and to apologise for he delay in actually getting these results out. For anyone who needs a reminder, these results are based on how many points each anime received - a first place ranking was worth five points, a second or third place ranking was worth four, a fourth or fifth place ranking was worth three, a sixth-tenth place ranking was worth two, and a eleventh-twentieth place ranking was worth one. When multiple anime had the same number of points, the anime with the most first-place votes was placed higher. The results are below the read more right here - I hope you enjoy reading!

Group G, Round 2, Poll 7:
Propaganda under the cut
Lelouch Lamperouge aka Lelouch vi Britannia aka Zero
Listen this guy has not just one but TWO secret identities, he’s constantly lying to everyone about everything and hiding crucial information even from his allies. He’s a true girlboss obvi because all three of his identities are in a position of power of sorts: as Lelouch Lamperouge he’s the vice-president of his school’s student council, as Zero he’s a revolutionary leader, and as Lelouch vi Britannia he’s literally an heir to the throne (and becomes emperor). And how could I forget he literally erased SEVERAL of his classmates’ memories so his secret(s) wouldn’t get out? He keeps screwing everything up and then pretending like it was all part of his keikaku. He’s so good at gaslighting people he even gaslit HIMSELF into believing he killed his sister on purpose (it was definitely not on purpose). I dunno what else to tell you, vote Lelouch for best tripe G threat.
Like I KNOW he’s a guy I get it but just like vibes alone. The feminine urge to be a revolutionary etc etc.
Lisa Wilbourn/Tattletale
Her supervillain career started when a local villain recruited her with armed backup. She went on to gaslight both her boss and her teammates to avoid letting them know she knew everything she knew—partly to string one of those teammates along a path where she wouldn't slip into a self-destructive spiral, partly to hide her preparations to usurp her boss. Which she eventually does, making her team the undisputed crime lords of their city.

Why was Lelouch's manipulation effective on Rolo?
One of this year's "resolutions" I set for my Code Geass page was that I was going to give more space to Rolo. Rolo is my favorite secondary character in Code Geass, even above Shirley and Euphemia, but I haven't talked about him much and I wanted to rectify that. This Monday I published a survey to my followers in which I invited them to vote for the analysis of Rolo that they were most interested in me doing. There were three options:
⭐Why was Lelouch's manipulation effective on Rolo? ⭐Why did Rolo kill Shirley? ⭐The parallels between V.V. and Rolo
There was a close competition between the second and the winner, which is what you can read in the title of the publication. Don't worry if you didn't win the analysis you wanted because those analyzes will come gradually. Furthermore, there is an important point in common that we must take into consideration in the two most requested analyzes: Rolo's background.
So who the fuck is Rolo? He is a trained assassin who works for the O.S.I. which, in turn, is in connection with the Geass Order and both organizations answer to the Emperor and V.V. (the devilish brothers). Episode 3 of R2 gives us an overview of him and how he normally acts if Lelouch is not with him (yes, being Lelouch's shy and devoted brother is Rolo's mask, but, as a professor told me in a class a while ago, masks are not necessarily fake and this mask is actually a side of him that not even Rolo himself knew). At the same time, episode 3 drops some seeds (problems) that will bloom over the course of the season:
His extreme loneliness: Rivalz casually comments that Rolo does not talk to anyone at school and, additionally, we see that it is difficult for him to work as a team (there is a scene with Villetta in which the members of the O.S.I. complain to her because Rolo has killed some of them for stupid reasons). All of this results in his poor social skills and him distrusting everyone (and himself). I won't use the enneagram right now, but Rolo is undoubtedly a 6w5 one-to-one subtype and with that information, a connoisseur of this tool can get a general idea of the motivations behind Rolo's strange behaviors.
His budding interest and need to understand the meanings of "having a family" and "birthdays," which tie into the heart-shaped locket that Lelouch gave him (and for which he killed a member of the O.S.I. just for touching it). It isn't until we reach episode 4 of R2 that we are introduced to Rolo's past that we understand this curiosity he has.
Rolo and Mao are similar in several ways. They are both orphans, given a Geass that was too powerful for them at a very young age, and are amoral as a result of their particular lives. Specifically, Rolo wasn't raised as a human, but rather he was trained from birth to be a killing machine. Therefore, he has no social skills or moral codes, he has no notion of what is right and wrong, he has never had a family, he doesn't know how to make friends and, of course, he has no idea what love is nor does he know how to love (this last part is important because that's what his narrative arc is about, by the way).
Rolo was taught to follow orders, solve problems and repress his social, emotional and affective needs. Rolo has convinced himself that it was okay for him to live as he has been because he has focused on the present by completing the missions assigned to him. It's Lelouch who motivates him to think about the future and find meaning in life: "Rolo, what is the future? The future is hope. Without hope, your life is empty. And you have no hope beyond your mission. Rolo, if you capture C.C., what kind of future will it open up for you? Things will remain as they are and nothing will change." It's more or less the same situation that Kallen goes through in the first season since she also has to define her objectives and motivations and, in fact, the mental breakdown that Rolo suffers is similar to the one that Kallen had on Kaminejima Island because both they see how the lie that they believed to be true crumbles before their eyes. In Rolo's case, after all, Lelouch does care more than the mission (or, in other words, that his emotional ties are real).
The difference between the two is that Rolo isn't mentally healthy and here we find other parallels with Mao. Both are, first and foremost, victims of child abuse by people who should have protected them, but decided to use them for their benefit (C.C. in the case of Mao and V.V. in the case of Rolo) and both are hungry for love for their loved ones (C.C. and Lelouch respectively). I would add that they are also children who didn't grow up well. That's why Rolo's locket is shaped like a heart: it symbolizes the love (of Lelouch) that Rolo desperately wants.
Even if Rolo sees himself as a weapon because he has been dehumanized by the Geass Order, he is human and, like every person, wants to be loved (C.C. literally wants to die because she believes there is no love in her life). This need combined with Lelouch's search for meaning based on his agenda (being his little brother) leads Rolo to turn such meaning into his reason for living. "I made you a promise. I promised you a new future. Your future is with me" (or, what is the same, "your future is me").
Of course, there is a difference between Mao and Rolo (which is the same difference between V.V. and him) that I won't reveal now. I will say that, although the relationship between Rolo and Lelouch will evolve into a dependency on the boy's part that will aggravate his mental state, it constitutes a turning point in his narrative arc since, in addition to giving him a goal and motivation, this is the first time that Rolo thinks about himself and what he wants for himself, which is good for Rolo since he begins to value his life and Lelouch won't face consequences for manipulating, lying and using an amoral young murderer with strong emotional deficiencies who has been indoctrinated by a malevolent organization, right? RIGHT?!
No, forget it. Shirley dies.
But I'll reserve that for the next analysis. Honestly, I'm glad this analysis came out first because when I release Shirley's I'll be more direct in touching on Rolo's background and focus on Rolo's fears and feelings and explaining something nonsense called "anxious attachment." React and share, if you want to see it soon, as well as other analyzes of Rolo (I need to analyze his death scene because it is heartbreakingly beautiful and meaningful, even more so with the music).
Thanks for reading me.

There's gonna be a couple of new polls coming up here soon. And if you're familiar with my usual content by now, you should be able to guess at what they will focus on. I hope you'll all tune in regardless.
And speaking of polls.....
I asked you what anime I should tune in to.
It was no contest. The winner was Spy X Family, by a landslide.
The distant runner ups were Code Geass and Dr. Stone. I cannot believe My Hero Academia scored lower than Sword Art Online, how did that happen?
I admit that despite my reservations about starting this show, I do find it to be intriguing. I will be the one to say Yor Forger is an absolute badass and the one who really piques my interest.
And now that you've all spoken, I may be one step closer to turning it on. I just hope it lives up to its praise, because hype is a big part of what ruined Attack on Titan. So just know those of you who voted, I'm going in based on your feedback. I hope you bore that in mind when voting.
Expect those new polls soon.

Weekly Anime Comic: Dirty Pair - FINALE
Okay look, I know the art in the Adam Warren Dirty Pair comics doesn't ACTUALLY look like that, but there's just something about the lipstick that causes the lips to register as GINORMOUS in my brain. I'm not a fan. The same with the art design in Dirty Pair Flash. I know they're hardly Code Geass levels of gangly, but it's distinct enough from the originals for me to notice it in a bad way. And that's more than enough reason for me to make a snarky comic about it.
BUT YEAH, that's it for my Dirty Pair coverage! Hope you all enjoyed reading them as much as I enjoyed watching them! Because seriously, these were a whole lot of fun to do. Stuff like this is why it was such a better idea for me to cut back on the unfettered democracy a bit and only let people vote on shows I was already kind of in the mood to watch. Turns out it's a LOT easier to get me to crank out material consistently when it's about stuff I already know I like! Anyway, be sure to come tune in next week for the start of Baccano!

HERES THE BRACKET. FINALLY. GOD.
sorry for the wait u_u
(Text version, with dates under the cut below)
For franchises that had more than one submission, I grouped them together so that after round 2, there will only be one contestant per franchise. to try to be fair or whatever, so that a small number of franchises dont dominate the bracket
yes i know mdzs and tgcf arent anime but its my poll tourney and i do what i want godbless
this might be too much to ask but please watch the videos if you can and vote based on that! idc how much you like or dislike the anime, how much do you like the OPENING. obviously this is for fun so you can do whatever but if possible i dont rly want this to be a popularity poll :')
propaganda welcome :)

Favorite female characters poll chain, why not. I can't remember a list of favorite characters, this is probably gonna be more representative of my favorite stories (or just ones I've thought about recently) than anything else. From @stackslip mutuals feel free to carry it on and tag me in yours
What the hell do I like. What characters exist. I've forgotten everything I loved because I was asked to list it. These are almost certainly not representative of my tastes. You can see the point where I stopped caring about not repeating Eli's answers. (In the process making me realize I think I should've voted for Anthy instead of Jinx in his) I was determined to come up with at least 10 though so these will do

This week for some reason has felt so heavy. Elections aside, every single thing of media i see reminds me of DOTH to some extent, I wasn't exaggerating when I said this fic has literally rotted my brain. Recently I've been on transformers because of the new movie and remembered how in one of the shows there is an arc where a very important character loses his memory and is manipulated, which reminded me of how this was a trope in several shows and how I literally hated it because of all the anxiety it generated for me even to this day, no kidding, that rabbit hole reminded me of my most recent case: Code Geas! Which I just remembered, it's the most similar to Doth!!! At one point in the anime the main character is captured and taken to his father, who alters his memories in order to use his intelligence for his benefit, and not only that but the one who captured him is a character who is supposed to be a good person, but his beliefs of what is right end up doing more harm than good. And yes, I also wanted to punch him so hard in the face because I was so angry!!!!
The point is, I hope everything gets better in your life so you can post more often and I can get on with my life, because i need It so much.
Btw, I decided to watch the Simpsons Halloween specials and on the 2020 one they have a sketch about the elections and at one point they show the things Trump did in his term and My God!!! the man didn't change at ALL!!!! Some things he said he might as well have done them yesterday!!!!
I just looked it up and oh geeze that is actually eerily similar to what I have in doth.
For legal purposes I have never watch Code Geass and knew absolutely nothing about it before this ask; I actually confused it with Code Lyoko a lot as a child. All similarities are coincidental.
Like dude Trump has been a dipshit for so long his ridiculous assholery has been cemented into American pop culture. Like, was Back to the Future big outside America? Biff Tannen was literally a lampoon of Trump. This was thirty years before he ever announced his presidential run. He's always been an absolute joke until he stepped into the spotlight at the exact moment the alt-right movement needed representation, and they latched onto him to play out their fantasies of owning women and killing brown people.
And he's actually gotten worse since getting out of office. The anger of being rejected and the stress of maybe going to jail is doing a number on him, but he also legit has dementia. A lot of people think he's had a stroke as well. The other night he mimed fellating a microphone during a rally. People accused Biden of having dementia but like-Biden's stuff is all pretty typical old people stuff. They forget things, they mix up names, they hit their limit and are kind of nonfunctional until they get a nap. That's just what happens when you're 81. Sexual behavior with absolutely no care to its appropriateness is textbook dementia shit.
I'm really sorry to you and everyone else who isn't American and has to listen to me talk about the election endlessly. Believe me when I say I would much rather talk about turtles. I'd like to say the political posting will stop after tomorrow, but this isn't going to be over for a while.
Please vote if you haven't already, guys. For real.

Imma try to write at least one fic for each of these choices but I wanna know what's everyone thinking.
The last option can cover animes I have seen and or love like Black Butler and Blue Exorcist cause of the new seasons. Preferably Sebastian and Rin cause yas I simp them.
Idk if I ever write for Tokyo Revengers again. Or Code Geass. Cause of the meek reception.
At the end of the day, I wanna expand my writing ✍️
Vote away, please and thanks.

Group G, Round 3, Poll 4:
Lelouch is a teenager who led a revolution against a colonialist empire and comitted war crimes. Multiple of them. He made his best friend Suzaku his worst enemy and made Suzaku protect himself by all means necessary by using his power to literally psychologically reprogram the part of his brain responsible for self-preservation into acting up when Suzaku is in danger. This leads to Suzaku VERY unwillingly sacrificing innocents to survive. Lelouch made the royal family of a world-spanning empire afraid of him at the age of like 17. What's more gaslight gatekeep girlboss than that?
Regina George
Mean Girls became a template for high school drama movies, Regina being the meanest of the titular "mean girls"
