Weekly Digimon Comic: Digimon Tamers - page 17.50
Yeah, Digimon fans just LOVE to counter people who claim it's just a rip-off of Pokemon by pointing out that Digimon actually hit stores FIRST... but they're a lot less eager to acknowledge that the REASON the first Digimon devices hit store shelves was just to be a Tamagotchi rip-off. Seriously, that's what the original incarnation of Digimon was: Tamagotchi except you could make them fight. I mean, just look at those little black and white sprites in the flashback. That's no accident, it's a deliberate callback to the franchise origins.
(And yes, I'm STILL mining content out of this one episode. Look, I can't control when inspiration strikes, I just gotta run with it when it does.)

Weekly Anime Comic: Baccano - page 3
I mean, I already made Digimon VPN jokes for both Adventure 2020 and Ghost Game, so the problem may just be that I've already mined that topic for all it's worth. Then again, I can absolutely imagine the Daily Days staff all pulling out their guns as being more or less Google's reaction to the monopoly charges, so there probably IS a fresh punchline here that I'm just not seeing.
To be honest, my brain was mostly overpowered with the idea for the OTHER comic I'm getting out of episode 3... which will be way, way, WAAAAAY more stupid.

Weekly Digimon Comic: Digimon Tamers - page 17.25
Yes, I know, we're talking about a cartoon about talking animals from twenty years ago that only exists to sell toys to children. If anything, it's a testament to how smart the writing of Tamers usually is that something silly like this would even stand out to me in the first place.
