Bruce is actually really attractive, and I have enough reasoning to make a list

He's:

Tall (. Tall enough to hit his head on the vault doorframe)

Long-legged

Has a straight nose bridge

Has high cheekbones (more noticeable in 2nd pic below)

Has a strong jawline

Sharp eyes, but they aren't small (plus eyebags if you're into that)

Overall, he has strong, attractive facial features

Has broad, refined shoulders. You can tell he works out (or he did, when he was alive)

Even has a thick, muscly neck

He has MUSCLE. Is SCULPTED. NOICE. VERY NOICE. (nice arms. Nice shoulders. Nice neck. Nice legs. Nice butt-)

(There are actually panels where you can see some of his muscles. Other than those already shown here, he's got bricky thighs-

-and in the panels where we first get his name dropped, he's got those shoulder blades too-)

The one time we see him smile, and he actually has a scary one

Has small, kinda sharp pupils, and his eyes remind me of a cat. We only ever saw him tense or defensive, so his resting/listening face is really cute

Other than the physical appearance stuff, he also:

Takes shit without batting an eye (patience, knowing it's just how Kudo is, etc)

Kudo being all "Cut the crap Bruce and give it to me straight", after Bruce tests his blood and is rightfully Concerned because they just faced AFO

Put up with Kudo's experimenting and testing over Yoichi's transferable Factor

Did ya'll see the look on Kudo's face when he realized he had Yoichi's Factor/will? Kudo was going to start in nonsense and Bruce just dealt with that.

Also something I noticed when looking back at the images here; Bruce has bandages on his arms in the void. But not when he faced AFO in the sewers.

Were he and Kudo cutting their arms open in their experimenting over Yoichi's theory? Is this why Kudo has two gauntlets instead of his one? Why we never see his bare arms in the void? That he always keeps his arms down so there's no slip?

Is smart enough to run blood tests, plus has enough common sense to pick Shinomori as his successor

He picked a guy who avoids society, has an Ability to detect danger so he can always stay away from AFO, is also a coward so he's never going to go throw himself into danger, even without knowing instinctively he stands no chance, etc.

Meanwhile, Kudo chose Bruce, who he played Hot Potato Yoichi with; but he did also trust Bruce, and put the only pure combative Ability in OFA through Bruce.

These two made their choices based on what they valued and saw the Factor needed.

Is logical, analytical, and calm.

He tried advising Midoriya on their Abilities in One For All, especially his own.

Midoriya then tried ignoring him about using Fa Jin for the first time, but found he was right, thinking: "Dammit!! I had [Lady Nagant] right where I wanted her, but... ugh! The Third was right. My parallel Quirk processes are all screwed up!" (ch. 314).

Plus, when Midoriya fixed his processing mistakes, Bruce was analyzing the way he reached his new conclusion. Pure facts, no bias, very calm, just saying it as it was.

We never see him panic. When he's caught by surprise in the sewers by AFO, Kudo, and Yoichi's little bubble event, he immediately reacts. He doesn't falter, he just knows he has to do something right now.

Was more willing to listen than Kudo to Yoichi's beckon, and probably was just following Kudo's rejection of Midoriya

While we don't see Kudo's face, we see Bruce's eyes when Yoichi calls on his heroes. Bruce was more open and receptive, or at least more impacted.

Bruce was also the one to start talking, while Kudo just kept quiet.

He actually communicates a lot

When Yoichi called them to support Midoriya, Bruce started talking to paint a picture of why they thought the way they did, so Yoichi understood where they were coming from.

(Though he seems to beat about the bush sometimes, since Kudo spoke up to be direct on how they couldn't just put their trust in some starry-eyed teenager. Plus, when Kudo tells him to just tell him what's wrong [double Factors])

When Midoriya first used Fa Jin against Nagant, Bruce came out just to tell him he knew what he was trying, but that Midoriya wasn't ready; and Midoriya found he was right. Midoriya just didn't want to listen to him then.

He asks Kudo for clarification after finding Kudo had two Factors in him after the sewer incident ("Just to be sure, All For One didn't touch you, right?") Kudo knew him well enough to go "stop beating around the bush and tell me", so Bruce was probably gonna start with questions, theories, and trying to understand everything in general, before saying "yeah you have two Factors. Don't know why".

Is strong-willed and loyal.

He followed Kudo, even to death, carrying on the cause he started until it ended with him.

Plus, when talking about how AFO needs a strong will to override OFA's own, we first see Bruce, Kudo, and Yoichi.

AFO couldn't steal OFA because the will was too strong for him, and that was back during Banjo's time. Since Shinomori never actually tried opposing AFO and just hid, we can assume the first Three (Yoichi, Kudo, Bruce) already had an accumulation of strong willpower that made OFA un-stealable. Those three are a strong enough foundation, and the main wills, that the other users just become bonuses.

Kudo, also saying that Midoriya needs allies with the same will and drive as him... hey Kudo, you're talking about yourself and your old allies, aren't you? That's why you look at Yoichi and Bruce when you say this.

Not only is Bruce attractive, but he's got good character. THE END.

I have a shit ton of ideas for tanaka cause hes my favorite hamster in funger

Tbh these ideas kinda give him the plot armour funger never gave for our shonen anime protagonist so if you don't like that, feel free to scroll past

What would Tanaka be like as a playable character?

Here are my ideas:

Since he is a latent soul, he can get the skill trees of others without killing them (of course it will take longer to obtain them rather than killing them, though).

This mechanic will basically be asking others to teach you how to do their stuff TM

So because of this there will be a 'friendship' system for Tanaka. (Canonically, Tanaka won't see this as friendship, tough guy since four and all,... but my fanon heart says that yes he will. I will force Tanaka to be emotionally vulnerable for my fanon heart, and I say this as a threat.)

Some characters are more unwilling to share their skills with Tanaka, depends on persuasion and first impressions (based on what dialogue you choose and how good you are at observe).

I think a special case would be Daän as I theorize that Tanaka asking for his knowledge and skills would remind his relationship of himself and Eihner Von Dutch... probably if you play as Tanaka on a run he would be the first person willing to bring him under his wing, so to speak.

You can probably gain multiple skills from others at once, but for characters that we know do not like each other, if they do realize that Tanaka is also mentored by the guy they don't like, they'll stop teaching him and his persuasion won't work as well on them. Also 'friendship' decreases with them. Sometimes both characters pull out which would be a great loss. (Like anyone with pav, karin with the magicians and daan, if you attempt to learn from caligura in front of any contestant, etc.)

Really big point here: we know that Tanaka is unprepared for the Termina festival, thus being the weakest contestants in the beginning. You'll have the most opportunities for death playing as his character, especially so on harder modes, and that can easily end your run.

Also why Tanaka is the hardest character to play as, because you need to stay alive (which WILL be hard, as both mind, body, and hp are significantly lower. Remember, unprepared hamster not ready for the fears of the jungle) for long enough to be able to start learning from others (would think that this studying starts at day 2, or day 1, which if I remember are the days with the most amount of events that Tanaka could die).

I would like to think that him learning from Marcoh would always be canon, even in any multiverse. He really needs the hp boost.

As you learn more and more, these can be things that naturally give Tanaka increase in body, mind, hp, and any other stats. You can still get these stats from items though.

Because Tanaka never experienced something like termina before, his mind stat is irreversibly capped less higher than other contestants. I think that could be a great way for the game to signify that Tanaka is really traumatized by these events. And also went a bit mad for his late meeting lol.

I really think we should bring back "handsome rugged looks" skill for Tanaka. It would be really funny if he were to be the only contestant that could seduce. Will also increase affinity with Sylvian.

With this "rugged handsome looks" skill your persuasion would be improved, and you can make certain enemies skip their turn using that.

Dialogue would probably be like "... is shocked at your vulgar display." I think the moonscorched villagers were raised in pseudo-christianity where they probably said sex isn't ok and the only exception is for Sylvian cultist/sacrifices for sylvian... and I believe in my heart that this skill is obviously not for that god. (a/n: considering that funger has shown rape, I don't think that this would be realistic... probably still effective, but not THAT effective).

Would think that enemies like the Sylvian trooper would either be unfazed or say some flirty stuff idk (skill won't work)

Also! I really like the extra coin toss skill that other folks think would happen with non npc! Tanaka. Really neat.

Speaking of persuasion, Tanaka would have more effective persuauion than other because he is a salaryman. It's basically his job.

On the 'friendship' system, based on different friendship stats you will get different b endings as what your skills are are directly affected by who teaches you. I would also like to think that once Tanaka's latent soul 'awakens', he won't be willing to go back to his old job with new skills he isn't going to use. (a/n: this is where the op part kicks in. Realistically, his b ending would just be the same: only how fast you defeat Termina and if you did succeed would be affected. Still, I like dreaming for my favourite boy to be happy for once. And leave his family cause they really were not good to him, even though they are miles better than other families, they still suck).

When one of the contestants that teaches him moonscorches, if you encounter them he won't fight them, no matter what you do. He will never fight the person that helped him from the ground up. He can never bite the hand that feeds, even if the hand tries to choke him. And that is written in his stubbon nature. (a/n : he was raised to NEVER reky on others, and even if learning from others DO go against this pesson, it will become his character arc to depend on someone else to be stronger. However, I do think canon!Tanaka does still have some self-preservation, and in this case canon Tanaka would probably prioritize his life over morals like this. But my fanon heart is a sobbing girl that likes to think that it's favourite characters would rather kill themselves than kill their friends, and honestly it needs more angst to feed from).

And this part is REALLY, REALLY plot-armoury and really not canon, but in my heart, and even my head, they both agree that Tanaka's b-ending (in my ideas) wouod be the most canon b-ending, as other contestants 'live on' through Tanaka. He carries their memories, and skills, and he uses them to fight Per'kele.

Note: I still like the idea that the logic god ending is canon and what would happen in the 3rd installment, though.

Maddie : Excuse me

Yo : Hey there kid! How's it going? Officer Yo, at your service!

Whoa, you're lookin' at me like I'm some kinda hero, huh? Well, let me tell ya, I'M THE BEST POLICE OFFICER THIS SIDE OF THE PETRIFICATION EVENT!

(FLEXES ARMS, SHOWING OFF HIS MUSCLES)

Maddie: I mess up a lot too. I maybe brilliant in science but I'm not good with social relationships. So to make my listener stay interested in the conversation, I used to alter the truth sometimes...trying to fit in but I only ended up getting left out among my peers.

I don't have any such issues here though. So I don't have to change anything.

I have this tfa au where i just yoink things from other tf continuities and make them fit tfa. It’s also the au where my OCs live. Since I’m currently obsessing over idw constructiprowl I decided to shove then in there too.

Ok so I really want to have a constructiprowl in tfa so the solution I’ve come up is there are two Prowls. One is the one that we know and the other one is pretty much g1 Prowl. Im gonna call the second one og!Prowl bc he is older that the one we have in the show.

So og!Prowl’s story is before the war he was an enforcer and during the war he was in high command( not the SIC though). However sometime during the war he was used as a scapegoat by the rest of high command and got kicked out of the army( dishonourably discharged). People he thought were his friends turned on him. He is definitely morally grey and has done some very questionable things during the war but so has the rest of high command. He didn’t deserve to be just thrown under the bus like that. He has lots of anger issues. He was very pissed over the whole thing. So high command want to get rid of him because he is too important and knows too much to just be let to his own devices so they decided to chuck him in Garrus-9. They thought that by throwing him into a prison filled with Decepticons that hate his guts they would be rid of their problem. And since he had multiple times before expressed his dislike and mistrust to cons ( even ex cons turned autobots) they were convinced that he would be all on his own. But high command had underestimated how resourceful and petty he could be. Prowl is livid and filled with so much spite it’s a wonder how he hasn’t turned into a singularity. There are no lines he isn’t willing to cross anymore. He doesn’t care. He is going to survive and he is going to make them regret that they tried to rid of him.

And you wouldn’t guess who’s also in Garrus-9. A certain recently crippled Decepticon gestalt(the g1 version). They had just lost their leader Scrapper. So with some (lots of) manipulation, some scheming and some very questionable scientific intervention Prowl gets a gestalt. (Like it takes almost a year for him to get close to the combiner team and convince them to collaborate. He tries to “befriend” them. It’s funny cuz it’s a bit of the opposite of what happens in idw. He is the one who needs them and goes around trying to gain their favour.)Does he like them? No. Does he like the idea of them being inside his head and spark? Absolutely no. Does he want to give one big middle finger to the Autobots and fuck them over by causing a prison break in one of their most secure prisons? HELL YES!

After combining the constructicons are kinda smitten with the way Prowls mind works and even though they realize he was manipulating them they are very impressed. This version of Prowl is out of shits to give and even though he is very emotionally stunted and doesn’t want emotional relationships with them he agrees to become the new leader of the team and join the Decepticons. Since he used to be part of Autobot high command the Decepticon counterpart doesn’t trust him much, even though he is very good tactician, so he stays at a relatively low rank in the con army.

It takes literally thousands of years for his relationship with the structies to develop from something more than work colleagues. It takes him soo long to admit even to himself that he has started to care about the gestalt because he is so afraid to let people in. He tried to keep the relationship strictly professional and since he is not a complete asshole to the gestalt they are fine if a bit exasperated with him.

“We are just colleagues! I am your boss! Nothing more!”

“Suuureee, boss.” The whole gestalt roll their eyes.

And before he knows it he has five boyfriends.

Zelda produces an overwhelming amount of legal paperwork to make this happen.

Zelda passed a thick binder across the table at the coffee shop.  "The first section is my proposed prenuptial agreement--it should be straight forward, since we will not have any joint marital assets.  The second section is a lease for the mother-in-law unit behind my house.  It's set up like a rental unit, so it's self contained.  I've never used it for anything other than storage.  You'll be able to have privacy and autonomy while we share a mailing address.  It will also be easy to car pool.  I don't expect rent, but you would be responsible for your utilities."

Link's eyebrows hiked as he looked over the pictures she'd put in at the back.  His friend leaned in over his shoulder to look too.  Supposedly, this man was a lawyer, but it was clear from the look on his face that he had not been prepared for the full force of Zelda's paperwork.  The man had a bushy mustache, spoke even less than Link did, and looked as if he might start sweating.

Maybe this was a bit overkill.  Maybe this was a bad first impression on Link's friend.

She hurried to say, "The details are in there.  You can come and look at it first, of course.  The lease is a formality, just to protect us both if things go wrong.  If there's anything in there you would like adjusted--"

"You don't want rent?" Link asked.

Oh.  "You're going to be my husband.  That would be strange."

He snorted and then tried to act like it was a cough.  The friend hummed.

"The next section is a draft of an addendum I'll be adding to my will once we're married.  It will set up a trust fund for Flora to use for school in the case of my death."

Link nodded, but the lawyer hummed again in disapproval.

Zelda was about to bristle and explain that they had an understanding, but Link cut in first.  "I don't need to be in her will."

"Okay," he said.  Then, "Most husbands are in their wives' wills."

"We're doing things differently."

"Okay," he said.  Then, "Just seems kinda weird."

Link rolled his eyes.  "You knew your wife for two weeks before you proposed."

The man shrugged.  "Knew her last name before I did."

"That's--"

"And now I get to kiss on her."

"Do you have anything helpful to add?" Link asked.

"...Nope."

"Okay then."

"...Just seems like a bad idea."

"Your official lawyer advice is that it seems like a bad idea?"

"...No, that's friend advice.  I'll have to read first to give you lawyer advice."

"That's--Great.  Thanks, Hudson."

The lawyer friend nodded and hummed to tell Link he was welcome.

Link's eyes darted up to hers in apology, and she bit her lip and took a deep breath.

"The last section is information that might be useful about me and Ralphie.  Contact information for his doctor and baby sitters and piano teacher.  He's allergic to amoxicillin.  That kind of thing."

"Oh, that's a good idea," Link said.  "I should type something up about me and--"

He flipped to the section, and his words died in his mouth.

Yes, she had definitely gone overboard.  But it all seemed like things he would need to know if he became a part of their lives.  Overviews of their schedules--when she left for work and what day Ralphie had therapy and how he was expected to do homework and piano before he played any video games.  Some house rules.  Some information about what she did for a living, which people tended to not understand.  A family tree in case one of her cousins dropped by.  Information about the house.  Medical histories.  Some background information about where she grew up and went to college and work history (Goddesses, it looked like a resume).  Some background about Ralphie's anxiety and the timeline she'd drawn up about the bullying he'd faced at school.  A copy of the restraining order they have against Ralphie's father and a copy of the paperwork terminating parental rights.

Her whole life laid bare and handed over to someone she barely knew.

And it was a lot.

She cleared her throat.  "I--"

The lawyer leaned in again to read over Link's shoulder, and Link flipped to the front of the binder, popped open the metal rings, and removed the sections the lawyer would need to look over.  He took the papers, and Link closed the notebook, quietly protecting her privacy.

"Are you okay with getting married at town hall?" he asked.  "We could do a party later.  A temple service if--"

She hurriedly agreed, "Town hall is fine.  I think the children should be there, but beyond that..."

"Exactly.  I have a black suit and Flora has a pink dress and a green dress.  They're from Malo Mart.  The dresses, not the suit.  But I can get us something nicer, if you want."

"I'm sure they're cute.  Ralphie has a button up shirt and a bow tie."

"That sounds adorable."

"It is."

"Flowers?" he asked.  "I can get flowers."

"Do you want to get flowers?"

"Yeah.  What's your favorite kind?"  He'd had a note pad in front of him the whole time, but he had yet to write anything down.  Now he reached for his pen.

"Silent princesses," she said.

He nodded, writing it down. "Do you want to go eat afterwards?  There's that Tabanthan place nearby.  The food is really good.  It's nice. But not so nice the kids couldn't come."

"That would be excellent."

"Would Friday work for you?  We could go after I pick up Flora from school."

"About 4:30?  That sounds good as long as all the contracts are signed by then."

Link turned to his lawyer friend, who shrugged.  "I'll see what I can do."

"Good."  

Link pulled a folded sheet of paper from the back of his note pad, but hesitated before handing it over.  "These are some ring designs I thought were nice, but now...maybe I should read your packet and see if I can find something that's more you?"  The tips of his ears pinkened as he passed it across. 

"You don't have to--"

The perfect ring looked up at her.  One round diamond with two little ones on either side set flush in a simple band.

There were eight other rings on the page, all in a variety of styles--geometric and swirling, clunky and delicate, different cuts and different sizes, some with additional colored stones.  He was giving her options.  But he'd found the perfect one.

She lay the paper down between them and pointed.  "That one."

A smile twitched across his face, and he circled the ring in a haphazard circle with his pen.  "What's your ring size?"

"Six.  Yellow gold, please.  I do get hives with other metals."

"Gotchya.  Does tomorrow work for Flora and I to come over to see your mother-in-law suite?"

"Yes."  She shook herself and pulled out her slate to check her schedule.  "I won't be home until six."

"Is 6:30 too late?"

"Not at all."

He wanted to get her a ring.  He wanted to get flowers.  He wanted to take her to dinner.  Her heart shouldn't flutter so much.  She should put a pause on the conversation and make sure they were on the same page that there wouldn't be any romantic entanglement.

She should.  But she didn't. He was just being kind, trying to make this process as pleasant as possible.  He'd been married before, and was probably well aware that this could scarcely be called a wedding.  The rings were just to keep up pretenses with the school.  Surely, they didn't give tenants and roommates sibling benefits.

"Awesome," Link said, finishing his note to himself.  "Flora will still have another week of school after we go to the court house.  I don't want to be too disruptive, so once school's over, we can pack up the apartment and move the week after."

"I can hire movers if you'd like.  They can pack for you."

He looked up at her in confusion.  "They would...pack my stuff for me?"

"If you'd like."

He blinked at her.  "Let me think about it."

"Alright."

"Okay."

They stared at each other.

"Are we good?" he asked.

She straightened her spine and gave a relieved sigh.  "I think so."

Link smiled at her.

The lawyer friend mumbled, "Fastest wedding planning I've ever seen."

Staff and Line

A free day in P.E. gets a little more interesting when Marinette and Adrien decide to do a bit of friendly sparring.

The spread laid out before her is bountiful, foam swords and flimsy shields, yoyos and plastic batons, a handful of spinning tops, a squishy hammer, and what looks to be a single horseshoe. Truly the arsenal is formidable- and a little silly- all manner of toys and weapons inspired by the various magical personalities of Paris. Marinette glanced across the courtyard at Monsieur D'Agencourt, who was speaking animatedly into a phone and was entirely distracted, the students milling around him as much an afterthought as the "lesson" planned for the day, and she absentmindedly nudged one of the toys with her foot.

The plan for today, their teacher had explained with a handwave, was to practice "sparring." With Heroes' Day just around the corner, Marinette supposed she could understand the excuse to cover what was basically a free period. After all, who in the city hadn't imagined what it would be like to flit around with a miraculous? Sparring was a great way to burn some energy in all fairness, and in Marinette's case specifically the practice was actually quite useful. She eyed the various tools before leaning down to scoop up a plastic baton- she was already more than skilled with her trusty bandalore, so brushing up with a staff in case she and Chat Noir ever needed to swap weapons could be a good idea. She tested the balance of the stick and after finding it to be suitable, decided to run through some of the base stances and swings her partner had taught her. As she felt her muscles loosen up she became aware of someone watching her, and turning around she saw a familiar figure fiddling with a yoyo.

"Oh, hi Adrien. I didn't know you knew how to use one of those." She said brightly, leaning on her stick to test its strength.

Adrien smiled at her as he pulled off the trick he had been setting up for before replying; "I just dabble. I've got a friend whose great with them, though, and I've picked up a bit. Kinda itching to try some of the crazier stuff she's done with them, actually."

"Well..." Marinette tried, "If you want to practice using a yoyo in a weird way, we could try sparring?" She tried to pose the question casually, but internally she was beaming. If he said yes, this would be the perfect opportunity to impress him! She wasn't as skilled with a baton as Chat was, but she was willing to bet she was better than average....

"Oooh, great idea, Marinette! I guess... Whenever you're ready?"

Marinette nodded before swinging cautiously. He stepped out of the way easily, so she tried again, and again, he moved. Speeding things up, she tried for a jab that would just slightly miss him (she didn't want to accidentally hit him, after all) but to her surprise her momentum carried her forward and past where she was aiming- Adrien had actually caught her staff and deflected it! His laughter bubbled through the air behind her, and she couldn't help but smile to herself at the sound. Clearly he was better at this than she'd expected, so maybe a little more pressure was earned? She spun around, counter attacking, and managed to catch him slightly off guard. He managed to hop out of the way, then cast his yoyo out and towards her. She easily batted it away, but instead of it going dead in the air, Adrien managed to preserve its speed and reel it back with a flick of his wrist before sending it out again, this time at a different angle. Again, Marinette knocked it away, and she caught something like excitement in Adrien's eyes. This time when he reeled it back, he lunged forward and converted his momentum into a cobra-like strike with his weapon. The speed was impressive, but Marinette's reaction times were tuned to the trajectory of a yoyo, and once again she deflected- but this time Adrien anticipated it and had continued to move forward with the yoyo, twisting his body and whipping the toy through the air at an incredible velocity.

Marinette dropped to the ground as she heard the line of the yoyo whistle above her. Adrien teetered off balance for a split second, and Marinette tried to capitalize on his poor footing by aiming a jab at his legs, but he must have predicted it because he kicked off the ground in the direction he was facing and landed with a startlingly graceful roll, reeling in his yoyo as he came up to stand.

Marinette blinked. Clearly Adrien is better at this than he gives himself credit for, she thought, standing up and rolling her shoulders. No more holding back.

The pair descended into a whirlwind of flashing plastic and string, twirling and bounding around in what almost seemed like a dance. A few classmates began to watch, impressed at their skill, ooh-ing and ahh-ing as the tide waxed and waned in either's favor. After a minute or two, Adrien swung his yoyo in a wide arc, but in a flash Marinette shot forward, striking her weapon into the air and correctly predicting the trajectory of the attack. The yoyo line swirled around her staff, and hoping to disarm her opponent, she yanked her staff upward with a mighty tug. Too much force- she thought with a grimace as she felt the stick slip from her fingers.

The baton and yoyo sailed through the air, uncoiling and separating before falling in different arcs. Marinette snatched the closer of the two out of the air, the yoyo, as Adrien dropped into a low crouch to catch the staff.

"Well, you're certainly good with a yoyo, but I'm afraid we should probably call it here." Marinette called breathlessly, the familiar exertion of a friendly spar leaving her winded and more at ease than she usually found herself. "Because I guarantee I'm better."

Adrien snickered. "Bold words, princess, but can you back them up?"

Marinette grinned, the taunt igniting the fuse of competition that this duel had been building up, barely registering the fact that had insulted Adrien, or what he had called her in response. Without bothering to reply, she cast her yoyo in a breakaway trapeze before pulling the line taut and sending the yoyo rocketing through the air at a faster speed than any throw her opponent had managed. That was the issue with Adrien's technique, he was decent at managing spin and recovery, and his reaction times were excellent, but he clearly lacked finesse or real practice. Most of his attacks were simply whirling the yoyo in a wide arc and were easy to predict, but Marinette had studied the bandalore extensively. She had spent hours at night practicing with both her Ladybug yoyo and with normal ones just in case the magical properties were removed from her weapon again. She may still have been stunningly clumsy, but her steady hands and beetle-brand determination meant a simple toy transformed into a deadly weapon in her grasp.

If she were thinking maybe she would have remembered that and reigned herself in. As it stood now, though, she was enjoying herself far too much to bother.

The yoyo shot directly at Adrien's chest at a speed even Marinette wouldn't have been able to block in his position, but to her shock he thrust his staff out and hit it dead on, sending the projectile straight up. Marinette flicked her casting hand upward, creating a loop of slack in the line that twirled around the yoyo as it flew along its lazy arc before landing in a laceration. She pulled her hand away and sent the yoyo spinning up before landing it in another trapeze. Adrien regarded her warily, watching the yoyo spin on its line. He could barely react as she rapidly pulled her hands away from each other, sending the yoyo into a series of targeted shots.

Adrien ducked away, barely dodging her eli-hops before rushing towards her as she recast her line. Marinette's eyes widened as he pulled his staff back, ready to strike- he had recognized that she played for space, keeping him at arms length, and had realized that the best place to be to throw her off was inside her yoyo's range. Now, with her yoyo hovering uselessly behind him, Adrien had the advantage. Marinette scrambled away as the staff slashed through where she had just been before retaliating by reeling her yoyo back towards her aw quickly as she could. It shot back to her hand, and its path would send it straight into the back of Adrien's head. She had this in the bag.

But then, as though he had known its exact position without seeing it, he tilted his neck slightly to the side and let the yoyo fling past his ear with an audible whoosh. It hadn't even phased him.

Marinette caught the yoyo in a sidewinder and let it spin on her finger as she and Adrien circled each other, her mind whirling as fast as the plastic in her hand. His dodges were impeccable, she realized. What she had at first assumed to be lucky breaks, attacks flying past him a hair's breadth away, weren't accidental or fortunate footwork, Adrien's method of avoiding hits was to expend as little energy as possible dodging by only barely moving out of the way. It was risky, as misjudgment would result in a nasty knock, but it let him counterattack quickly and precisely without putting himself out of position or wasting energy on his own movement. Across from her, Adrien appeared to be running a similar analysis over her fighting style. She would have blushed under the attention if she weren't so carefully considering his movements and- there! That slight nod, she almost missed it in the chaos, but he had been doing it right before each strike. Like clockwork, it heralded this attack, too. Some distant part of her mind registered the habit as vaguely familiar, but she was too engrossed to think about it much more.

Adrien whirled toward her and she dodged and deflected each attack as they came, backing out of his range in anticipation of each lunge. More people gathered around the two of them, but they blurred into the background as Marinette focused on her target. He was getting faster with each strike, more confident in his advance, but Marinette wasn't giving anything up yet. They danced around each other, staff and line whistling through the air, drawing more and more attention. The only sounds in the courtyard were their heavy breathing and the crack of their weapons against each other. The world had faded, and there was nothing but their fight. She struck out at him with a barrage of whirling swings, but instead of shifting to the side like she had expected, Adrien thrust his stick upwards through the path of the yoyo's line, twilling the string around it and yanking it back.

He stole her trick!

The counter completely threw off her balance, and Marinette was pulled forwards towards Adrien and away from her ideal range. He flashed a determined grin at her as he watched her stumble into striking distance, but she flashed him a smirk of her own. If he could use her trick, she would use his: she leaned into the fall as the world tilted on its axis, kicking off the ground with all her strength like she had seen him do earlier. She aimed the palm of her left hand at Adrien's shoulder, and her jump sent her sailing through the air and directly above Adrien's lowered form. She grabbed his shoulder and used it as a springboard, pushing off him and sending herself flying through the air. Higher, higher, higher. She flicked her right hand, and the familiar weight of the yoyo whirled into her palm- expertly wound. Suspended, upside down, behind him... This was it. She cast her yoyo in time with her rising arc and hailed a flurry of eli-strikes directly at Adrien's back. Each one landed true, the first hits of the fight. The impact sent Adrien stumbling as Marinette began to right herself in the air, already brimming with smug satisfaction, but she felt her eyes widen as she started to fall. It was barely there, practically imperceptible against the downward arc of his fall, but she caught it. A tiny nod.

Oh no.

As Adrien fell, he whirled around and sent his staff directly under Marinette's landing position, sliding it into place just as her feet touched the ground. He twisted his grip and spun the baton beneath her foot, sending Marinette crashing to the floor. Stunned, Marinette was weightless once again, but she wasn't out yet. In the fraction of a second she had, she lashed out with one leg and caught the crook of Adrien's arm, ruining his recovery and sending him tumbling down with her.

The two lay there, a panting, sweaty heap on the asphalt for a moment before a rush of sound brought them back to reality. Cheering. Cheering, from all around them as their classmates laughed and whooped and hollered, applauding their fight, evidently shocked that two of the more thoughtful and upstanding students had that kind of fire in them. Marinette stared into the sky before taking a slow breath, the weight of what she had just done setting in. She slowly turned to look at Adrien on the ground beside her. He was nearly unrecognizable, hair mussed, cheek caked in dirt and pebbles, eyes wide in stunned appriciation. The pair stared at each other for a moment longer, before Adrien broke out into the most beautiful, heartfelt laugh, and the tension snapped.

Warmth bloomed through her as she watched him, and Marinette smiled, too.

ep 4-5:

putting them together since it's essentially a two-parter. i clocked mickey as a girl at first bc of his voice and eyelashes so it surprised me that he was a boy?? either his voice hasn't deepened yet or he's transmasc- i'd like to think the latter because that would be awesome. those scenes with him and his twin sister's fallout over the piano, his simultaneous hesitance to fight for anthy's hand and determination to get back a lost childhood feeling makes his moral stance just slightly murky... i'm starting to think nobody in this show is a true Hero or Villain, they're complex and i really like that. the piano piece itself was beautifully composed too and they went to the impressive effort of having it recorded in different tones based on who was playing it.

the scene where namani tries to expose anthy as a weirdo and all of her little pranks turn out to be things anthy actually does had me laughing out loud. anthy needs some merriment in her life... can't get over her making a little flipbook animation of an elephant. love her.

ep 6:

hated this episode..... i have to remind myself even namani is morally complex but i audibly went "wtf" at some of the stuff that happens anyway. to be fair they try to soften the blow with the elementary-aged boy wanting to protect namani like a brother but it- it just doesn't read well. i'm willing to see how namani and touga's dynamic affects the plot cause it feels like they're trying to say something with it but i'm glad namani broke up with the kid. just no.

it really wasn't an emotionally investing watch to have utena and mickey in the bg as essentially viewer inserts for the episode. (they're still on good terms, which i'm a bit confused about but also understand? if that makes sense?) i did get several laughs from the bizarre inclusion of a boxing kangaroo, as well as doubting how said boxing kangaroo fits into the universe of rgu. we're in some british country not australia 😅

Ohhh interesting! :0 I actually haven't thought about that before with Miki! I think they chose that kind of voice to differentiate him from the other male characters, making him more soft in comparison. Miki, albeit more friendly compared to Touga and Saionji, still has some flaws in the way he views women (as shown with his relationship with his sister as well as the way he treats Anthy). He is the equivalent "nice guy" who at first glance, seems like he has people's best interests in mind, but is quickly shown to also be selfish in his own right. He wants to go back to that lost childhood he had, but at the expense of Anthy's own personhood as he projects his sister onto her. And yeah you're right! There isn't really a "hero" or "villain" in this show (well, for the majority of the cast you could say). Everyone is complex in the way they are all oppressed under the academy's system, and everyone participates in upholding that system in some way.

OMG YEAH THAT SCENE IS SO ICONIC KDFJNDFKJ I love it because it actually gives us an insight as to how Anthy views Nanami. Their relationship and the parallels they have with each other is really interesting. And yeah wahhhh she does 😭❤️ she's just a little guyyy

That's...yeah that's the reaction a lot of people have tbh KFNDFKJFDJ there are moments in RGU that make you go "wtf" ESPECIALLY with the Nanami episodes. They are bizarre and random and yes, they do touch on some incestuous implications (like how the relationship between Nanami and Tsuwabaki the kid parallels Nanami's own relationship with her brother), but that is the point yeah! You'll see later on how Touga and Nanami's dynamic evolves and how that affects Nanami's character in the long run. It's really interesting, you kinda start to feel bad for her a little tbh 😭

iirc that's usually what happens with Nanami episodes, Utena and Miki and everyone else are the outsiders looking in on the chaos. I can see how there could be a disconnection there, but I think it's more for comedic effect than anything else. I also think Utena was willing to forgive Miki because he's more of a friend to her at this point (unlike Touga and Saionji who act antagonistic towards her and Anthy), still not cool with what he did, but yeah. I would imagine jaehyun to be very funny in Na pd’s show. He would thrive there cause na pd loves to pick on introverts who are inside their own bubble which would put him in the highlight. I personally love that kind of format from na pd show especially in the early shows like 2d1n and njtw. The pd plays a character that breaks the ‘fourth wall’ which throws off the viewers. We can see this element for a bit in running man when members attack the pd instead of the members or getting their cameraman involved. It also inspires the recently emerging style of including interactions with crews (like laughing and bantering in the background) like in mmtg, leeyoungji show, workman and more where it becomes their signature. The boundaries between crew and star is becoming more lose. But so far Na Pd is the only one that becomes as popular as the star and becomes a character himself. This format is more popular with youngsters and can be seen more on youtube.

So far, this type of show that doyoung has been to were mmtg and jonathan’s show which i think he did quite well in both shows. A lot of the shows he frequents are kinda old-school tv shows. Which works for him to some extend cause his variety skill show is kinda old school as well. He’s not naturally funny. I mean the man admit it himself. He’s textbook funny. He learns how to be funny. He needs to put effort to be seen especially if it’s not with other neos. Nothing wrong with that and I guess that made him the safe choice all the time. Not naturally funny but he puts in the work on camera and nice to work with bts. What’s not to love.

I noticed that western audiences likes naturally funny person more (limited to what i can see in kpop twt and popular yt channel). Like laidback and doesn’t try to be funny. Not too sure about korean audience. If we look at yoo jae suk and kwangsoo, i would say one is text and one is naturally funny but both leaves great impressions.

Evening talk shows on TV have some convos between the host and the music band, for example, there is audience present that cheers and shouts something. YT shows lack it, so I guess this trend of involving staff is an alternative. The viewer behind the screen should get the feeling that he/she is a part of the audience as well.

Na PD chose all the participants himself. And he called Do "our Doyoung-ie", so he already had a positive impression of him. I think Do knowing 80% of the cast played a big role as well in this case.

All neos were sent to shows (radio, MC on music shows, a panelist on programmes, team games). However, not all continue as not everyone are able. Yes, it's not just about being funny or entertaining, it's also about coming ready and connecting with other guests and hosts, being quick to adjust and being versatile (and willing, being interested in this activity in the first place). The way Doyoung got his own weekly Do!Digest segment on EnNaNa despite all 127 neos visiting JohnJae as guest MCs at one point. Or the way Yuta is doing his radio for the 3d year, while Renjun and Chenle did it short-term.

I think, there is a snow ball effect in place. It's important to show positive signs in the early stages to continue on this MC/variety/TV personality path. The window of opportunity for an idol is not very big. Because at first it's SM coming with "take our idol we selected" and later it's directors themselves with "give us this idol pretty please". And, naturally, the gap in skills and experience is growing with each passing year among the members who go on TV shows and who don't. SM's interest is in promotion of the newest groups, so their pushing will eventually shift to the youngest (Sohee and Shion as MCs). And of course the company is more interested in sending groups (the way Dream often goes on shows but all together or 2-3 members). The initial point is promotion of the groups through their representatives, not promotion of a single member. Some fans get it backwards. As well as feign forgetfulness as if their biases never went on shows and programmes.

But back to Doyoung and "text-book funny". Doyoung is resourceful (knows a lot) and smart (quick-minded, witty, observant). And he doesn't need to put in effort to be seen when it's a talk show or a competitive game. I disagree with you on that. Plus he has the awkwardness that can be used by editors and made into "funny", he is also noticed a lot for his commentary that he says naturally (like him telling Hyo about SNSD gathering).

Everyone needs to put in effort before the camera or given a task/put in a scripted situation that will bring something out of them. Doyoung stretched during a break on GC and was given his solo screentime, and you are saying he is not noticeable.

Doyoung isn't pushed as a comedian and the funny guy, anyway. Initially he was sent on shows as a talker: either as MC or as a guest on a panel. This variety thing is recent. He guested once and was asked to come again, and precisely because he can create entertainment himself either by contrast or by sense. "I live alone" is a challenge for him, we discussed it, but it will be for majority. Even seasoned comedians fail from time to time.

Shy naturally funny people like Jaehyun need special settings. Either a good host/director, that can highlight him (the way you described Na PD) or a familiar company (the way Jae delivers when he is together with Do). Jae was mediocre as Inkigayo MC and fun as Show Champion MC.

Suho on Game caterers would tank if not for the help of everyone around him. He wasn't funny, others made him look funny.

What Do needs is to be more like Leeteuk. Get rid of very fake gestures (hand in mouth) and say comments and do transitions smoother.

this one might be obvious at this point but his love language is very much physical touch

his favourite ways of being hugged is to be hugged from behind or being picked up in any way to get hugged

he looooves massages, professional or not, foot or back massages are great for him. He was not aware how great it would feel for him until one day he went to a spa with Zoe, not thinking much about it, he was just mainly going there to spend some time with his friend, you know? But then he received a massage and was never the same again

kinda related to the previous one, but he loves massage chairs and whenever seeing one, like in a shopping mall of something, he can't help but spend his money on that sweet sweet massage chair (idk how common it is actually so I thought I should explain that what I mean is that in especially bigger shopping malls here there are sometimes one or two massage chairs that you can use for a certain amount of time for certain amount of money and that's what I mean)

as much as he is not willing for his hair to be touched because he doesn't want it messed up, he's more than happy to let someone play or experiment with it because just kinda touching around his scalp and pulling on his hair feels sooo good, especially the pulling part

sometimes when he really craves touch and it so happens that someone else (that he wants to be touched by) is standing right next to him but not quite touching he willl be so distracted by it because he wants that touch so much he just keep focusing on that person and he swears he feels the hair on his arms standing in anticipation

whenever he is especially content with touch and is in a standing position he will lift one of his legs, happens especially with kissing but can be anything really

he's perfectly fine with being picked up at any moment for any reason, no warning needed, and in any way too, be it sitting on someone's shoulders or back or being held bridal style but also being picked up like a luggage or upside down is fine with him

- his hair though you don’t know how many styles I’ve pictured him with but I know you like it long for him so I’m going to go with that for this but yes! That and the girls style it in so many ways and he just sits/ lays there and lets them relaxed plus having it washed by someone else he’d be in heaven letting it happen I have to admit I agree with him lol

- THIS ok so he just is there and they are so close but he just can’t get to what he wants (poor thing) I wonder if he’d eventually find a way to get closer to that person or just let them be and sit there in space dreaming of their touch or he goes home imagining that a pillow for example would be what he didn’t get in the moment and he hold regret but imagine when he did get what he wanted he’d never let it go.

- awe this one is such a classic I feel like if just shows that he’s so happy but listen if he had a tail it would be wagging imagine little wags when he’s happy but back one track to his little happy leg habit soooo cute!!

What do you think SA2's flaws are? Not nitpicks, but valid criticisms?

Story and Characterization: • It kind of doesn't make sense that Eggman's threats "fell on deaf ears." The game doesn't really tell us what that means, so we have to assume Shadow meant the negotiations between Eggman and the President didn't go quite as planned. But even that doesn't make sense because Eggman either ended the call first or had his call hijacked by Sonic and Tails. It's not like the President staunchly refused, you know? • Sonic and Tails' attitude towards Amy is a little :L because they treat her like a tagalong, some burden they have to suffer rather than a member of the team. It gives off this uncomfortable "lol girls amirite" vibe. • Sonic and Tails leaving Amy behind becomes something of a running gag. It gives off the impression they're just lugging her along and only lends Amy more reason to "whine," as she puts it. • Amy's also a little bratty in this game. I kind of don't like how much she pouts. In addition, she becomes pretty passive despite having infiltrated Prison Island all on her own. • Sonic's characterization is serviceable but his portrayal really doesn't do a whole lot with his character aside from the faker plot. (This is reflected in SA2B's manual describing Sonic's role rather than his character.) Not a criticism as much as an observation, per se; just pointing out that SA2!Sonic is probably not the most fleshed-out version of the character the series has to offer.

• It's probably a side-effect of a poor English translation, but SA2!Sonic comes off as a bit of a jerk sometimes. He frequently leaves Amy behind and jokes that he'd have to "think about" handing over the fake Emerald in exchange for her. In addition, the lyrics of "Deeper" imply Knuckles wishes Sonic would be more sympathetic to his plight. • It would have been nice if the game confirmed that Maria had NIDs and that was the reason for Project Shadow's existence. As it stands, the reason why Gerald was working on it can be difficult to parse if you're judging from the game's contents alone. • The fact that the Biolizard is kinda this "giant space flea from nowhere" plot development. And yes, I acknowledge that he was foreshadowed in Rouge's report, but that's too much of a blink-and-you'll-miss-it moment to really count imo. • While I get that he was busy with other things, I think Eggman should have tried to keep a keener eye on Rouge. He seems a little too laissez-faire with letting her run around the colony and giving her access to the mainframe.

• I still don't know how Rouge expected to make off with the Emeralds considering they were ensconced in the Cannon. Or why Shadow simply left her there when he knows she wanted to take them.

• The time stamps can be a little confusing, and in one instance contradict the timeline of the narrative. • We could have benefited from maybe one or two more Shadow and Maria flashback scenes in order to cement the nature of their relationship.

• I sometimes question the President's relationship to GUN - they seem to be acting independently of his orders, going batshit at that - and whether he was willing to let Rouge die in the course of her undercover work. Because GUN hadn't gotten the memo that she wasn't the enemy and sicced Flying Dog on her.

• Knuckles' story doesn't seem terribly connected to the overall narrative.

• Knuckles is made a buttmonkey a bit too often for comfort's sake, getting yelled at by multiple characters, shaken and insulted by Rouge, pulled on by Amy, called a "knucklehead" by Sonic, volunteered by Sonic to find the keys when he doesn't want to, and Sonic ofc saying Knuckles piloting the shuttle was more dangerous than Eggman could ever be.

• I think maybe we could have benefited from hearing a bit more of Eggman's thoughts on Gerald's motives and how they related to his own. --- Gameplay and Graphics:

• The graphics are rough, unfortunately. Character models don't really look that good up close and the mocap can get pretty janky at times.

• I think, also, when comparing SA1 DC to SA2 DC, the framerate isn't as smooth. Scanlines become especially noticeable during the final Sonic vs. Shadow fight when the catwalk loads in.

• Kart racing sucks pretty bad; they probably could have cut it entirely, and it's annoying that you have to do it in order to earn 180 emblems. The computer's a cheating bastard and will make perfect 90-degree turns whereas you're forced to swerve all over the road like you're drunk.

• Raising Chao takes way too fucking long and it shouldn't be an emblem requirement. It's an interesting system but, again, shouldn't be a requirement for 100% completion.

• Overall I think the desert stages are SA2's weaker stages in terms of level design. It's not that they're terrible or anything, but they seem to lack the polish of other stages. Egg Quarters Hard Mode is especially annoying because it depends on the Kikis' wonky AI functioning correctly. Half the time they blow themselves up and ruin your A-rank. • Sonic's Cannon's Core section feels rather short and too easy compared to the other segments. I would think in terms of gameplay it'd make more sense to make it the most difficult and tightly-paced. --- Soundtrack: • Not as diverse as SA1's, although I do like how the "Live and Learn" leitmotif is woven throughout many different tracks. • Not sure why they decided to make some tracks on SA2 DC's sound test DLC-only.

Heh, it’s all good.

After the long, analytical sad asks (poor Mary), time for something relatively nice.

I’m not sure if you’d prefer Jazzy to not be discussed much, being a child character on an 18+ blog.

Some people really don’t feel comfortable with that and I don’t want to inspire weird asks or claims that a child character is being discussed inappropriately. Happy to leave her as a background character. (As she probably should be.)

But if it’s cool, after the ‘Dove inexplicably tries to harm Krow’s loved ones’ wild card ask I had a headcanon that quickly gives Jazzy and Luke some plot armour.

Maybe Jazzy casually does capoeira and is kind of talented?

Off to google. Not sure about after school programs but in SF Columbidae there is a club with free classes available during the term (for kids whose families can’t pay the fees). That fits.

Maybe her classmate’s parent picks them both up after school and then they spar for a hour or two until Luke gets off work to collect her.

She’s still really young (colouring book/tooth gap kinda stage?) and is a bit clumsy, doesn’t have the complex parts down. Normally a chill gentle artistic kid. But she’s got good instincts. She’s confident and strong for her age and her upbringing taught her she should be treated respectfully. She also grew up watching how Krow carried themselves.

For some reason A-hole Dove (or an older child, or a nasty lady?) got an attitude, roughly grabbing Jazzy’s arm, and before either Luke or Krow could react the offending ass was wallpaper.

Krow was horrified (it will not be without consequences) but internally squeeing over their little charge. Tiny, cute, but packing such deceptive power… well, she could almost be Krow’s own daughter. *happy birb noises* *delulu plans about teaching her butterfly knives* They are swelling with pride.

Luke is worried about her being punished for defending herself, he needs to explain Karens the world to Jazzy. But he is also quietly relieved. He feels guilty about working so much at odd hours and Columbidae City is so sketchy.

It’s reassuring that in addition to Krow protecting her Jazzy isn’t completely helpless.

(I appreciate the concern anon and you're very valid to have them, since it is something I had wondered too. I had been hesitant for a bit to even mention Jazzy before because of those connotations. Ultimately I figure I can talk about her a little, both to give context to Luke and even Krow's characters more, and to further humanize them, since she is important to both of their lives.)

It's possible that Jazzy could be learning capoiera (or karate or taekwondo or some other martial art) both as a means for learning self defense but also boosting in her self confidence. It'd further fit for her to learn what with being an afab PoC kid. Luke (and Krow) would wanna make sure she isn't defenseless.

(I wouldn't say Jazzy is super duper young, she's definitely old enough she can read some on her own, but isn't in the double digits yet either) and yeah, that is all very fitting with how I see her as. She's a good and chill kid, but a combo of her upbringing and also looking up to Krow has inspired her certainly.

I think if Krow ever were to see Jazzy actually defend herself, he wouldn't be sure whether to be horrified, impressed or laugh. Probably some combo of all three. In the end probably settle on being proud she can stand up for herself and willing to. (and you know what yes he is totally devising plans to show her how to use a butterfly knife when she's older).

I don't think Luke would punish Jazzy if it was valid reasons for defending herself (and most likely was). Have to explain a bit how the world works certainly, but he has also taught her (and she knows) to not use violence unless needed.

Jazzy is gonna be very capable when she grows up for sure.
