[A3!] Event | Devil Maid’s Holiday | Episode 8
Tumblr media
Yuki: Sakuya and Muku, Taichi and Azami, Citron, and Arisu. Looks like everyone’s here.
Yuki: Alright, here they are.
*Paper rustles*
Muku: That’s…
Citron: Ohh, it is the costume rough drafts! You have already thought of this many new costume designs!?
Taichi: That’s insane, way to go, Yuki-chan!
Homare: You truly overcame the scene of carnage.
Tumblr media
Citron: Yes! They are all the loveliest~!
Yuki: Obviously. I’ve double-checked with the client about the direction of the costumes and they’ve given me the okay, so I’m going ahead with this.
Yuki: Actually, let me explain things again. I told you guys that the play request the troupe got wasn’t gonna happen, but then Sakuya and the Director negotiated with the person…
Yuki: So now, they’re gonna remake their decision about requesting us to perform after watching our play.
Yuki: So I redesigned the other costumes to match the first costume I made because those are the costumes we’re gonna wear for the play.
Azami: Gotcha. So I’m gonna hafta come up with makeup to match these.
Yuki: Right, by the way, you’re gonna be wearing that one, Azami.
Azami: Wh…
Muku: If you look closely, you can see each of our names by the rough sketches.
Citron: What does that mean?
Yuki: Because those are the costumes you guys are gonna wear.
Taichi: We’re the ones wearing these…!?
Yuki: I did the same thing I did with the butler costume ideas. I decided on the casting first because it was faster for me to decide on whose costumes to make by doing that.
Yuki: Each of the costumes is tailored to your body types, ages, and acting styles.
Yuki: I put a lot of the things I personally like into them, but I also put a lot of thought into them to make sure that they’d fit the people who’d be performing in them.
Citron: Even our ages and acting styles… That is amazing.
Yuki: I AM the one who made them, after all.
Yuki: That’s why I want you guys to wear these and for us to all put on a play together.
Azami: …Gotta be honest with you, I never woulda thought we’d hafta wear something like that.
Tumblr media
Azami: But if that’s what you want, then I’ll hafta suck it up. Let’s put on a play and show them what we’ve got.
Muku: Yeah! I’ll do my best, too. I hope they’ll end up loving both Yuki-kun’s costumes and our play.
Citron: I will, of course, do that too! We will surprise the commissioner. And then we will turn them into one of our regular fans!
Taichi: We’ll def make them wanna commission MANKAI Company!
Homare: Just leave it to us. Let’s wear Yuki-kun’s splendid costumes and put on a play that’ll convince the other party.
Yuki: Alright, if nobody’s got any objections, I’ll get started on making them. …Right, Sakuya?
Sakuya: Yeah!
Sakuya: We don’t have much time before the client sees it, so let’s all divide things up and start preparing!
Azami: Aight, I’ll take the rough drafts as they are and start thinkin’ up ideas for makeup. I’ll check in with you again once the costumes are done.
Yuki: Sounds good.
Homare: Well then, I shall ask Tsuzuru-kun about the script. How about we slightly change the theme from last time? Does “Devil ✕ Maid” sound good?
Yuki: That is the general concept of the costumes, so that should be good.
Citron: You will also need costume materials. Muku and I will go shopping!
Muku: Yeah! I’m willing to help with whatever I can!
Yuki: Okay, I’ll send you a list later. It’s gonna be a lot, so are you sure you can handle it?
Muku: We’ll do our best!
Citron: If we need to, I can call the Itaru Taxi!
Muku: Wait! You don’t have to… I don’t want to be a bother…!
Citron: Should I call the Masumi Taxi then? Or perhaps the Chikage Taxi.
Yuki: Are you sure you’ve got it?
Yuki: …Well, whatever. I’ll start working on the costumes. Dumb Dog, you’re up.
Taichi: You bet! You’re finally relying on me!
Yuki: Quit yapping. You’re gonna be stuck working for the next few days. Be prepared.
Tumblr media
Taichi: Hiie! I-I’ll do my best…!
Sakuya: If we do this… Then I’m sure we can get our play across to them…!
Yuki: Well, don’t just stand there doing nothing then. You’ve gotta help out too.
Sakuya: I’m… gonna talk to the Director and Banri-kun about the stage direction.
Sakuya: I want to show the client the actual stage as closely as possible using the equipment we’ve got…
Yuki: …This better be a success. Especially since you’ve been going on about things so recklessly.
Sakuya: Yeah. We’ll definitely be up there standing on stage!

Love Story.
We were both young when I first saw you, I close my eyes and the flashback starts, I'm standin' there, On a balcony in summer air.
____________________________________________________
I was inspired from the movie "Romeo and Juliet", so here we are with a "Taioraversion" of one of those scenes. While drawing I had the song "Love story" from Taylor Swift in my head and somehow with this I had this little scene in my head:
-Hikari, Mimi and Sora are meeting at a coffee house and are talking (all still in their teenager years)
-Mimi is fangirling about this song and how romantic it would be to fall in love with someone you know since childhood (because of the lyrics)
- somehow she is teasing Hikari about Takeru and how the song would fit them so well
-while denying everything Hikari trys to change the subject, but Mimi interrupts her and looks at Sora "You know ,there are also two other cute little childhoodfriends, who would match this song quite well"
-of course sora was annoyed from that topic (again), so Mimi ended it with a big cheeky smile
-the next day in school Sora couldn´t get the song out of her head (because Mimi couldn´t stop singing and humming the song), which annoyed Sora to a maximum. On top of that she starts daydreaming in class about the storyline of the song...and about those big brown eyes... But right in the middle Taichi interrupted her thoughts, which led to a stuttering Sora with a bright red face..... And thus Sora knew, she had to avoid Mimi and Taichi for a few days, or else her thoughts would drive her insane.
I would have loved to write it better, but I´m bad at telling storys. I still hope you like the idea and the picture of course!

Round 2, Match 30: Kazuma Kiryu vs. Yuugo and Lucas
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Submitted kids:
Kazuma Kiryu: Haruka, Ayako, Eri, Riona, Izumi, Taichi, Koji, Mitsuo, and Shiro
Yuugo and Lucas: My guy. [They have] like 60. I'm not gonna list them all.
Propaganda under the cut! (Spoilers ahead!)
Kazuma Kiryu:
1. “There's a pretty big section of one of the game that's entirely about taking care of all those kids and it's all really sweet !”
2. “How the fuck did he get 9. There’s like 6-8 games where he’s the main character and he adopts haruka rlly early, but then in one game in the middle of the series, in the beginning like opening scenes he’s like avtually fuck it I’m adopting an ENTIRE orphanage/eight WHOLE children. (not a bit like. He actually did that) he’s the silliest billy badass old man. Grampy Kiryu also, bc haruka has a kid now.”
Yuugo and Lucas:
Yuugo: “I LOVE THIS RAT MAN SO MUCH ok so he starts off not wanting anything to do with these 15 children (ik i said 60 but they come later) who showed up at his doorstep because yk his entire family was killed and he's afraid of loving someone in the same way again. So he tries to push them away but oh boy these kids are clingy and also they found the emergency detonator and threatened him with blowing up his house.
Here's the thing though one character arc, the reuniting with his friend who he thought was long dead, and the rescue of an entire hunting ground full of kids later raising these kids literally becomes his new purpose in life. Along with Lucas (his aforementioned friend who I'm convinced is married to him) he helps teach them everything he knows about surviving in such a hostile world, things he himself had to learn the hard way which cost a lot of his loved ones his life. Before these kids showed up he was hopeless and without purpose. He didn't know why he was still alive and even contemplated ending it all. But all this changed when he adopted these kids.
Lucas: Anyway imagine watching your entire family die in front of you because you got trapped in a human hunting ground run by man eating demons, so you start a rebellion by recruiting kids in the hunting ground and teach them how to use guns among other things. That's what Lucas did!! :D
Anyway it's pretty much confirmed that he's the kids' confirmed dad, there's like 2 scenes where they outright call him their father. But I disgress.
Much of what I said in the Yuugo propaganda applies to him as well, he teaches the kids all he knows about survival which he had to learn the hard way and would protect them with his life. The difference is he's been doing the parent thing for a lot longer, he literally RAISED the Goldy Pond kids.
Both: First off: gay marriage. Second: The way they know exactly what it's like to lose loved ones due to inexperience and how they went "yeah no way in Hell this is gonna happen to these kids we're gonna prepare them for The Horrors" was a 2 person thing you think it's easy to take care of 60 children and homeschool them? Third: This is spoilers btw. They go and do a Die Hard (infiltrate a building that's been completely overtaken by the enemy and take it back from the inside) just so their children wouldn't have to live with the trauma of killing an actual human being.
I wish they were my dads.”

A3! Troupe Event: MY WORST WEDDING | Event Story Translation (4/11)
Tumblr media
Neither Japanese nor English is my first language so please forgive me if I made mistake. However, feel free to point me out, I’d love to hear your feedbacks on the translation ˶ᵔ ᵕ ᵔ˶
Translation under the cut
.・。.・゜✭・.・✫・゜・。.
Azami: Fuah~...
Tumblr media
Kumon: Did you not sleep well?
Azami: I had a bit trouble falling asleep. I couldn’t tell Sakyo not to stay up late working on his stuff.
Kumon: Come to think of it, Sakyo-san’s sister came to our dorm yesterday right~. Did something happen?
Azami: Seems like she came to consult about Sakyo’s mother.
Kumon: Heh~. Sakyo-san’s mother is such a kind person, isn’t she!
Azami: You know her?
Kumon: She is nii-chan’s fan and she’s been supporting him all the time!
Azami: Ah–, is that so.
Kumon: I think she’ll come to Autumn Troupe’s next performance.
Azami: Now that you mention it, I’ve been thinking a lot ‘bout Juza-san’s hair makeup this time…
Kumon: Ah–! Wait! No spoilers here!
Azami: Hah?
Kumon: He’s a former soldier this time, so it’ll def be really cool...
I want to know, but I want to challenge myself without knowing anything until the performance starts…!
Azami: That’s impossible. We’re in the same dorm after all.
Kumon: Still no spoilers anyhow!
Tumblr media
Azami: Well, I haven’t decided on Juza-san's hair makeup yet. Only Taichi-san’s role Olivia has costume coordination today.
Kumon: Ah, Taichi-san’s role is the woman who deceives the grooms right? I’m really looking forward to it!
*Shifts to practice room*
Izumi: Taichi-kun, it looks good on you! The impression has drastically changed.
Taichi: Heheh, I’ve turned into a perfect beautiful woman!
Tumblr media
Yuki: It’s not that bad, is it.
Banri: Heh~, Olivia’s hair is purple, huh.
Azami: I’ve thought about it a lot, but this will suit the scene when she appears in the story.
The makeup also matches the color of the wig though, this looks fine.
Then, I’ll remove the makeup after the photoshoot, so Banri-san, please try doing it this time.
Banri: Roger that.
*Short timeskip*
Azami: Make the line a bit thicker here–– About this much.
Banri: …It’s done.
Tumblr media
Azami: As expected of Banri-san, your sense is good.
Taichi: Oh~, it’s exactly the same as before!
Banri: When I actually tried Azami’s makeup, I can see that you think a lot about various things in detail. That’s awesome.
Azami: Obviously.
Banri: Well, but I only did the makeup just like the sample photo, so once I get used to it, I think I’ll be able to speed up even faster right before actual performance.
Yuki: And the rest are the costumes that go well with this hair makeup but— I bring lots of outfits for you guys to base on.
Izumi: This time main focus is the hair makeup, so the costumes will be later.
Yuki: First of all, this and this, try adjusting the sweatsuit lightly.
Taichi: ——How is it!?
Yuki: Your legs are so masculine!
Tumblr media
Izumi: Zero’s costume was the one with the legs out right.
Yuki: Zero’s lively personality matched with the vibe Taichi’s legs give off, but the image this time is a bit different.
If they are put out as usual, it’ll definitely look manlike. The makeup will be mismatched and out of place.
Taichi: I’ll lose my muscles before the performance~.
Banri: Building muscles might be within your reach, but isn’t it impossible to lose them?
Taichi: Uh, maybe if I try not to use them as much as possible…?
Azami: You might not be able to move your body when you’re Noah.
Taichi: Ah~ That’s right!
Yuki: I’m not even asking for you to do something in particular. Just don’t gain any more muscles.
Since I’ll style the costumes according to Taichi’s body shape to match the hair makeup. Tighten his waist with a corset for example…
I think it might work if we cover his broad shoulders with a jacket, and show his skin with knee-high boots.
Izumi: That sounds great!
Taichi: As expected of Yuki-chan!
Tumblr media
Yuki: Even if you only show the very least of your skin, I think the key here is that you can create a sexy look of the wicked woman.
Banri: I see… So there are various ways.
Azami: It’s also the same with different skin qualities though, it’s difficult to match because there are differences between men and women’s body shapes.
Yuki: It’s worth thinking about how to style the costumes for each roles considering actors’ body type anyway, I’m even more fired up.
Izumi: That’s the best part of being a costume designer, right.
Yuki: Taichi too, if you perform on stage in the costumes that are fit into your body, you’ll be able to act with confidence, won’t you.
Taichi: Yuki-chan!!
Banri: Our costume designer is really reliable.
Azami: (You’ll be more confident if wearing outfits that look good on you…)
Izumi: Well then, I’m looking forward to the costumes too.
Yuki: Leave it to me.
Azami: …Yuki-san, there’s something I’d like to talk to you about.
Tumblr media
Yuki: ?

Chihayafuru Thoughts - How Taichi feels about Arata
The relationship between these two has always been fascinating to me. While the base of their relationship is definitely friendship, they also harbor complicated feelings toward each other. I’m not really going to focus on the romantic “rivalry” they have, although there are instances where that’s a factor. I’ll be using examples from all over the manga so here’s the spoiler warning.
Taichi definitely feels insecure and inadequate in comparison to Arata. The glasses incident is something he thinks of many times throughout the story (in Fukui, at the Yoshino tournament, when he tells Chihaya the truth, etc.) and it’s clear that Arata calling him a coward has led him to try to change that aspect of himself, hence Taichi’s line “I wanna be someone who doesn’t run away”. However, Arata’s karuta prowess also amazes and scares Taichi. Taichi feels as though Arata plays at a level that he himself could never reach, no matter how much time or effort he puts in, and he feels left behind (by Chihaya as well for that matter). There are certain scenes where this is apparent and it reminds me of what Taichi said about Emuro; that he “drew a line” based on their ability, something Taichi seems to do to himself as well.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
This is also why Taichi has at times thought that Arata is more beneficial to Chihaya’s growth in karuta than he could be. He thinks of himself as lacking.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This insecurity around Arata occasionally causes him to lash out, muttering Arata is his enemy or feeling flustered at the idea of Arata making a team.
Tumblr media
This line, following “Chihaya wants to be on a team with you again, but I don’t”, seems more about how Taichi doesn’t want to play with Arata because he doesn’t want to feel useless next to him like when they were kids (a similar feeling to how Desktomu felt at regionals in their first year). He wants to keep improving and meet Arata as an equal, and he doesn’t see an avenue to that if they played on the same team or if Arata was around more often.
Tumblr media
I’ve seen this scene interpreted as Taichi saying this because the team is something Taichi has in relation to Chihaya that Arata doesn’t, but my view is a bit different. To me, this scene has always been about the fact that Taichi has gained a certain confidence in team matches (being the leader, prioritizing the team winning over his individual win, etc). Part of this confidence probably comes from the fact that Arata doesn’t play on a team, and thus Taichi doesn’t have to use him as a point of comparison, and that confidence would most likely be destroyed if Arata made a team. To Taichi it feels like the one area of katura that he hasn’t had to worry about Arata in is being threatened, hence why he says something snarky.
Tumblr media
Then there’s also the feelings of jealousy that he harbors due to Chihaya’s attachment (oftentimes near idolization) to Arata. Taichi’s love for her often causes him pain because she would bring Arata up a lot and very clearly acknowledged him, whereas Taichi never felt like he was enough as he was and part of him longed for Chihaya to “see” him as well. He seems to think the qualities that Arata has are among those that Chihaya seems to notice in people (and for a while he’s not entirely wrong, karuta freak that she is) and that he himself lacks them. That probably lends itself as to why he seems very touched whenever Chihaya does see him (offering a towel, caring so much about him making Class A, Yoshino, the Taichi Cup, etc.).
However, it’s also clear that Taichi respects and admires Arata as a player and values him as a friend. He cries when Arata returns, calls him for advice after feeling entirely dejected, supports him after Arata defeats him and becomes the Meijin challenger, etc. Taichi just has parts of him that view Arata more negatively and he actively points that out to himself. He uses phrases like “it’s not Arata’s fault” because he understands it’s not Arata himself but rather some of the feelings he’s attached to Arata that make him feel the way he does. However Taichi also accepts some of the negative sentiment he holds for Arata and the rivalry he feels toward him. His feelings toward Arata are well summed up when Taichi says to himself, “I’m happy when I forget you, but I’m encouraged when I remember you”. It’s complicated, and the matches he and Arata played at the Meijin challengers were a nice exploration into how they view each other. Those matches culminated in a nice moment where they realize despite any complicated feelings, they’re grateful to each other.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Anyway, that was rather long even though I feel like I didn’t say all I initially planned to. I’ll probably make more posts like this, one potentially exploring the opposite of this one; how Arata views Taichi. If you read this far thanks for entertaining my rambles!

A3! Main Story: Part 4 - Act 15: PAINFUL RE:BAKE - Episode 12: The Place Where I'm Needed
Tumblr media
Omi: The margherita and quattro formagi are done.
Sakuya: Call out if you want a drink~!
Taichi: Me! I want one!
Muku: I’ll pass along the cups~!
Yuki: Oh, give me that plate.
Homare: Could I have a fork as well?
Tasuku: The living room is more lively than ever.
Itaru: Gotta experience this in real time.
Sakoda: I'm gonna stay up all night to keep my spot!
Sakyo: Don't.
Kazunari: It’s starting soon!
Misumi: 3, 2, 1–
[Show opening briefly plays]
Taichi: It’s starting!
Izumi: Shouldn’t you watch this from near the TV?
Sakyo: I’m good.
Tsuzuru: Who’d have thought Sakyo-san would be debuting as a voice actor…
Tenma: We’ve done things like voice guides during that art exhibition, but… Isn’t he the first one of the reborn troupe to do voice acting work for TV?
Itaru: He beat me to the punch…
Chikage: Were you even trying to get it?
Citron: I’m jealous as well~!
Sakyo: (... Yeah, though, who’d have thought it’d turn out like this.)
-
[Flashback starts]
Sakyo: This must be the place…
Sakyo: Pardon the intrusion.
Sakyo: (It looks like a normal building on the outside, but this is what it looks like on the inside. This must be the room for recording–)
Matsui: Hey, morning!
Sakyo: Good morning. I’ll be in your care today.
Matsui: You said this’ll be your first time voice acting. I’ll teach you the basics for now, so get in this booth.
-
Matsui: You’ll stand here and let the mic record your voice– Let me adjust it a little.
Matsui: The sound director will give you the go with a cue light, and you’ll say your lines using that as a guide.
Matsui: You’d do good to turn the pages like so, in order to avoid paper noises.
Matsui: Also, a lot of actors tend to move their bodies unconsciously.
Matsui: That creates noise, too, so please be mindful of it.
Sakyo: Okay.
Sakyo: (This is pretty much what I’ve prepared myself for.)
Matsui: Other than that, just do what you usually do. If there’s anything troubling you, I can give you advice.
Sakyo: I understand.
Matsui: Man, am I glad I found someone who matches the exact image I had in mind.
Matsui: When I first heard your voice during the camera test, I just knew your voice would be right for this.
Matsui: The original voice actor suddenly fell ill, and we waited for them to recover until right before the broadcast, so we were having a hard time finding a substitute.
Matsui: You said you mainly work as a stage actor and have never done voice acting before, but they’re both acting, in a sense… And there’s people who do both.
Matsui: Okay, good luck.
Sakyo: (I was worried about whether I’d be able to act out a character who’s so much older than me and whose physique is so different from mine… But it should be possible with just my voice.)
Sakyo: (Most importantly, I want to live up to their expectations, because they asked for me.)
-
Sound Director: Could you put a little more emotion into that last part? Think of an intense scene and try to match that.
Sakyo: I understand.
Sakyo: “It’s all in the past. I’ve got nothing left to tell you.”
Sound Director: One more pattern, please.
Sakyo: “It’s all in the past. I’ve got nothing left to tell you.”
Sound Director: We’re okay.
Sakyo: (This is a play completely different from stage plays. I only express myself through my voice without using my body… It may be different, but this is definitely “acting”.)
[Flashback ends]
-
TV: “I’m glad I got to meet a boxer like you.”
TV: “Make sure you watch closely... This is my final round.”
Sakoda: ANIKIIIII!!!
Sakyo: Shaddup.
Muku: You’re so cool, Sakyo-san!
Sakuya: It’s a little different from your usual voice!
Taichi: It’s such a shame you die as a guest character in this episode!
-
Sakyo: (I went at it without knowing left from right, but I think I took it as seriously as I would take a play on stage.)
Sakyo: (And I got paid a small amount of money for my work as an actor outside the company.)
Sakyo: (... I never thought this would make me so happy.)
Izumi: Well done on your first voice acting job, Sakyo-san! Your challenge was a great success.
Sakyo: … Yeah, it was.
Sakyo: Honestly, seeing the young ones in the Spring and Summer troupes jump at opportunities recklessly made me jealous.
Sakyo: Settsu encouraged me to follow suit, and I think I’m glad I did.
Sakyo: What made me happiest was being on a job where people needed me.
Sakyo: From now on, I’ll continue jumping towards any place where the performer “Sakyo Furuichi” is needed.
Sakyo: If I get another voice acting job, I’d like to have a go at it. I learned a lot, and I think I’ll do even better next time.
Izumi: Yes! I think it’s great that everyone is getting more chances to shine. Please keep putting yourself out there!
Sakyo: Well, at the end of the day, the only reason I can do this is because I have MANKAI Company to return to.
Izumi: We’ll always be awaiting your return. The company needs the Autumn Troupe’s “Sakyo Furuichi”.
Sakyo: Hmph, I’ll stay here till I die.
Sakyo: In order to remain someone you deem necessary… I’ll keep moving forward.
Masumi: Here’s some honey to go with that quattro formaggi.
Sakyo: There’s no need for that now.
Izumi: Ahaha, thanks, Masumi-kun.
TV: “I’m glad I got to meet a boxer like you at the end.”
TV: “Make sure you watch closely... This is my final round.”
Sakoda: Aniki’s so damn cool, isn’t he!
Kazunari: This scene goes hard~
Itaru: The visuals are stunning too. I’m jelly.
Sakyo: How many times are you gonna watch this!
Izumi: (Azami-kun’s turn is next… I hope it all goes well.)

Note
I have no idea why but something made me go back into my dummy attachment to all series protag crossover things and... Well, i've been thinking about this since the purple Tagiru card and the birth of the jokes based on it about Tagiru having his own corruption arc in Digica.
Who would be the most dangerous to the less of concern enemy out of the 9 protags (double Taichi, Daisuke, Takato, Takuya, Masaru, Taiki & Tagiru, Haru, Hiro) if they had a corruption arc? 👀
Context: Tagiru's Tamer Card is purple, which is unusual because purple is usually associated with dark or undead Digimon. It's probably because Tagiru's meant to be played with the Arresterdramon line (with Arresterdramon being purple, the card game has gone across the usual color associations just to match the relevant Digimon's color, and he does have some "spirit"-type attacks), but it's funny to consider that most of the Digimon protagonist cards so far have been red, and Daisuke being blue is pretty easy to understand why, and then Tagiru got pinned with the color that all the evil Digimon usually get. So of course, the amusing question that follows is how effective Tagiru would be as an (attempted) evil overlord!
Least dangerous: Masaru, actually! Not because he's incapable, but because of the above list, Masaru is the only one who comes off to me as being actively turned off by things like world domination or power for the sake of power. For better or for worse, he's the kind of person who's very self-focused and has goals related to his own definition of self-improvement, and even on the evil side he would still probably be bound by so-called "honor before reason". So if left to his own devices, the worst thing I could see him coming up with would be some underground fighting ring or something else that "causes trouble" but is hardly world-threatening, and even if he ends up being hired help he'd be like a one-off assassin rather than a core part of the threat.
After that in order: Daisuke, mostly because in many ways he doesn't really have a spine (I'm saying this affectionately) or enough conscious malice to get anything done by himself -- even when he's on the good side he's incredibly reliant on his friends to make any real progress. He's a pragmatic enough person that I think he could be surprisingly effective as someone else's right-hand man or minion, but I don't expect him to be a very good evil overlord by himself.
Hiro, who's outright stated in the series to be a doormat who just goes along with everything, and is only considered to be more dangerous than Daisuke on this list because he's a pretty capable guy who can keep himself together in situations Daisuke can't.
Tagiru, who certainly has the drive to do things but is one-track mind enough to be easily predictable. Which is fine in a lot of cases, but being an evil overlord not so much.
Takuya, because while like Tagiru he has a sort of one-track mind with things, he has a sort of "innocence"/"earnestness" Tagiru doesn't that I could easily see being corrupted into the kind of malice that enjoys tormenting people for the sheer fun of it. I think that's the part that's really scary about this, that if you flipped just a few switches in the wrong direction Takuya could be like those kinds of bullies who made Tomoki's life miserable.
Takato, who's often deferential, but, well, the scene where he completely lost himself to wrath is one of the most famous ones in the franchise for a reason. Of course, in that case his own good nature won out, but if a corruption arc is in play...
Reboot!Taichi, I feel could go pretty much any way.
Haru, who's thoughtful and intelligent, and only isn't put beyond the following two because he doesn't have a lot of experience with actual leadership, and his talent of keeping people together is outright dependent on his kindness.
Taiki, who has the charisma to lead a whole army and whatnot, and is very good at planning things out to achieve his goal. Power grabbing is what his entire series is about! The one thing that I think might hold him back to any significant degree is that his Good Samaritan nature of "I can't leave anyone behind" is portrayed as something that's so integral to his being that it's basically compulsive to some degree, whereas...
Most dangerous: Taichi. Of course. Well, we haven't seen him directly lead an army like Taiki did, but even when he was in an existential crisis about his career he still decided to go into poli-econ, and we know he eventually does go into hardcore politics. He's charismatic and great at bringing people together for a goal, and while he does have a self-sacrificial aspect, it's heavily tied to him having guilt over troubling or hurting others, and if that weren't in play...

Note
loved your analysis about arata but about his interactions with taichi i think there time he /is/ being mean or petty on purpose. i dislike a lot when people try to paint him as someone actively evil and trying to make taichi's life hell blabla or when they don't acknowledge taichi does take everything too personally sometimes because of his own insecureness but like... arata can be petty and shady as hell at times with taichi too. they kinda bring this 'bad side' out of eachother but i honestly love this about their dynamic as well. and those feelings doesn't make any of them bad or evil. i just feel frustrated it always have to be one or another.
also it's funny how they have to fight inner demons and jealousy (not necessarily about chihaya) and chihaya is kinda clueless and just vibing (fighting different inner demons)
i feel pretty similarly as someone whose two favorite characters are arata and taichi! most analysis i've come across unfortunately tends to skew heavily against one of the boys, which isn't surprising for a LT manga but is a shame since it usually does a huge disservice to both of their fantastic character arcs. in my experience, especially in the past few years, i see way more like. willful misinterpretation of arata's character than taichi's which is why i spend less time defending taichi—i do dearly love both characters and their relationship for all the messiness that both of them bring to it lmao.
i definitely agree that arata has his petty moments which i do love, because frankly he is so funny when he's mean kdfj;lahdf. it's so against his kindhearted nature (which isn't so different from taichi!) and causes him a lot of turmoil, which really adds greater complexity to his character, especially to his relationship with taichi. as an aside, i think an interesting contrast between them is imo taichi is much more consistently self-aware of his negative feelings toward arata than vice versa, which is why taichi spends so much time agonizing over it—as opposed to arata only realizing it in key moments, like yoshino and the challenger matches, and THEN beating himself up over it because it suddenly creeps into his overwhelming fond feelings about taichi as a friend (which clashes with his slow recognition of taichi as a rival, but that's another discussion).
with my prior post i was mostly trying to highlight that, while arata has moments of lashing out or being mean to taichi (+ my exploration of how a lot of those moments stem from trauma and his insecurities, like taichi—basically an argument that arata like everyone else is shaped by his experiences and has reasons that he's cold, unfriendly, mean), there are other moments where i genuinely don't think he has petty intentions. like, the "chihaya doesn't belong to anyone" moment? definitely petty. but when he tells taichi "i thought you already would be in class A by now" and then tells him to give chihaya his phone number? to me that scene genuinely reads as arata being super socially awkward and not realizing that he's hitting all of taichi's insecurities within the span of 30 seconds l;adkhf;alsdkhfh;a. and to me that's an interesting distinction and super compelling because of how it impacts taichi without necessarily being intentional, an example of how the true mutual affection between arata and taichi is constantly frayed by their individual baggage. and it's gonna come down to reader interpretation, but i do notice that 99% of the time arata's intentions are taken with the most negative possible reading possible, so it was my hope to add another reading of his actions that, as you said, is not assuming he's just actively evil lol. also, a lot of why i read those scenes as not always actively malicious is due to how warmly he does act toward taichi in surrounding scenes (the blushing, the smiling when he sees him, wanting to see taichi as much as chihaya, the awkward "you're supposed to high-five, right?" and other socially awkward behaviors etc etc).
tl;dr you're not wrong that they bring out the worst in each other, or rather i think they bring out a very real, raw version of the other and see each other for what they are—and being able to fully appreciate their relationship requires an ability to view both of their characters without idealization, both of them having flaws and moments where they act badly to each other. it's clear that despite all their issues and how they mutually embody each other's worst insecurities, they very deeply love and care about each other, even if that bond is complicated. love them forever

A3! Event Story Translation “SSR Family” [ Chapter 1 ]
Everyone talks about what they plan to do next.
Tumblr media
*flashback*
Tumblr media
Itaru
Is my voice on stream?
Let’s see, today I’ll be playing “KniRoun”
(0 viewers...... well, alright. I’ll do a dry run for today)
——.
(The views increased to 1...... this means someone is watching, right?)
(A-anyway, let’s get started)
Nomin
“GG on streaming~”
Itaru
“GG...... what’s that?”
Nomin
“You must be a noob. It means ‘Good job on broadcasting.’”
Itaru
Ah, got it. Thanks......
(Seems like some scary guy’s here.)
*flashback over*
Tumblr media
Izumi
Akashi-kun, Rento-san,
Thank you as always!
Thanks to the two of you, our sound and lighting drastically improved and was well received by the audience.
Banri
It really broadened the scope of our production, it’s been an eye opener for me in a lotta ways.
Akashi
I should be the thankful one... This troupe is full of colorful people... s’been a lot of fun.
Taichi
Our music were bangers too!
Omi
It feels good that everything’s in place as they should be.
Kumon
Yeah yeah. The timing and all’s perfect!
Rento
The actors in this troupe already know what they want to do. I just match up the energy with how they feel and put the magic right in.
Masumi
I liked the BGM for the space police.
Rento
Yeah, ya musta loved that part!
Masumi
Mhm.
Matsukawa
The BGM guitar for ANIMS was also cool~
Rento
Hh, a word from the lord...... I'm seriously shaking right now.
Kumon
Rento-san's dynamic with the manager is amusing.
Kazunari
He really respects you, Sukechi~
Juza
The lighting changed for each group, it was great.
Akashi
Hhh, I, ah, I’m sorry!
Rento
Apologizing and for what. You’re too scared!
Izumi
He’s still not used to Juza-kun.
Juza
Something wrong......
Akashi
I-I'm sorry......
Tsumugi
Akashi-kun's lighting sure is impressive.
Tasuku
It’s effective for the more sober scenes.
Homare
I feel your great attention to detail from deep within.
Akashi
T-thank you so much......
Tsumugi
You’ll continue working with us, right?
Rento
Yup, that’s the plan.
Akashi
I-I look forward to working with you.
Rento You’ve got the Special Fleur Award and gained public traction now, what’s your next move?
Izumi
Now that we’re in the spotlight, we plan to put out performances by each troupe to show the unique charm of MANKAI Company.
Tsuzuru
It’s hard to keep performing with a full cast all the time.
Sakyo
The most distinctive feature MANKAI Company holds is the spring, summer, autumn and winter performances of each troupe. It’d be best for us to go back to our roots.
Izumi
So, we’ll do the usual thing and put out the 8th Spring performance.
Sakyo
Also steadily set on paying off the theater repair debt.
Matsukawa
Aah~ We’re living in the laps of debt again~…...
Rento
Spring troupe. Have you guys decided on a lead yet?
Sakuya
In terms of order, we were wondering if it should be Itaru-san or Tsuzuru-kun...
Itaru
I decided to give it a go.
Yuki
Aren’t you usually the unmotivated one?
Itaru
Actually, the long-awaited KniRoun X is gonna be released soon.
I’m gonna use a lot of my paid leave for play streams, so I won’t be able to attend rehearsals for a while, so I thought it’d be better to play the lead while I still can.
Yuki
So you weren’t even motivated in the first place.
Tsuzuru
The motive screams Itaru-san alright.
Chikage
Come to think of it, did you tell the others about it?
Itaru
Aah, right.
Izumi
?
Itaru
I’m gonna do some long-endurance streaming soon, room 103’s gonna be off-limits by then.
I’m about to celebrate the 7th anniversary, every year I do a long-endurance streaming sesh to commemorate it.
Tsuzuru
How long will it take?
Itaru
I’m planning on skipping a bunch of sub-events and stuff, but it’s gonna be pretty hard this time. I’m planning to speedrun it, so it might take up 20 hours more or less normally.
Taichi
20 hours!? You’re gonna play it for 20 hours straight!?
Izumi
What are you gonna do in the meantime, Chikage-san?
Itaru
I’m planning to adjust it to senpai’s business trip schedule.
Tenma
Who goes through all that trouble......
Itaru
I’m also celebrating the soon-to-be release of KniRoun X, I’m really hyped for it.
Sakuya
Which version of KniRoun will you play?
Itaru
I haven’t decided yet, it’s the 7th anniversary, so it’s either KniRoun VII or the most recent one, KniRoun IX......
Izumi
A lot of fans are gonna look forward to the stream of «Taruchi»
Akashi
Eh!?
T-Taruchi....... You mean the game streamer Taruchi......?
I-Itaru-san is Taruchi......? Well, now that you mention it, his voice is......
Izumi
You know him?
Akashi
Oh, um, I enjoy watching vids from the internet, I often watch video game livestreams......
I’ve been following V-tubers* recently, and Taruchi is famous for his KniRoun speedruns......
No way...... I never thought I’d see the real thing in such a place.......
Tsuzuru
Sounds like worship.
Sakuya
By the way, what’s a V-tuber?
Citron
A V-tuber is a streamer who uses a virtual avatar to perform a variety of activities on streaming sites!
There are many popular V-tubers who play games, sing, and even appear on TV nowadays!
Sakuya
Heh, really?
Tsuzuru
Citron-san sure knows his stuff.
Akashi
The latest technology is so amazing and advanced that it can track musical instrument performances in real time and linking it to images in virtual space......
With the avatar projected on the actual live venue, they can also do augmented reality lives......
Rento
Heh! Sounds interesting. I wanna watch it.
Akashi
I’ll dm you the URL of the video on LIME later.
Rento
As you should.
Izumi
(At first, I was worried if Akashi-kun and Rento-san would clash personality-wise...... but I’m glad to see they’re getting along just fine.)
Citron
My favorite V-tuber these days is Mochi Otoko!
Akashi
Oh, I like them too. I also like YO-KAN.
Itaru
Oh, they’re good. Their game commentary is interesting.
Citron
I also want to make my debut as a V-tuber! I can sing and dance just fine!
Itaru
Citron you’re already funny talking normally, so you’ll be popular in no time.
Izumi
(V-tubers huh. There’re so many different worlds now.)
*bell rings*
Guy
Welcome.
Yukio
Sorry I’m late
Izumi
D-dad!
Itaru
Did you just arrive?
Yukio
Yup, I came straight from the airport.
Masumi
Would you like a drink?
Yukio
Hmm, I think I’ll have a beer, then.
Sakuya
How long are you going to stay this time around?
Yukio
My work over there’s already taken care of, so I’ll be here for a while.
Masumi
Here’s a hand towel.
Tsuzuru
He’s been moving briskly for a while now.
Citron
Masumi, you are crying too hard!
Chikage
Trying?
Yukio
Ahaha, thanks.
Masumi
No, can I call you father-in-law?
Sakyo
Too soon!
Rento
Yukio-san, from the first gen MANKAI Company?
Akashi
Oh, um...... I’m grateful to you for having grandpa under your care.
Yukio
I’ve been indebted to Serizawa-san for a long time. I loved his delicate work.
How is Serizawa-san?
Akashi
He retired from actively working...... he still likes the stage and often goes to see performances.
Yukio
I see. I’ll go say hi to him next time.
Sakyo
That’s right, Serizawa-san's lighting was a sight to see.
Yukio
Oh, Sakyo-kun, what’re you drinking?
Sakyo
It’s sake.
Yukio
You sure are an adult now.
Sakyo
You’re calling someone over 30 an adult...... I’m already a legit old man here.
Yukio
Eh, Sakyo-kun so you’re an old man now?
But not long ago you were so small, and now we can drink together like this, it’s kind of emotional.
Sakyo
Well, I’m also glad that Yukio-san was able to come over like this.
Izumi
He’ll be going back and forth between America for a while.
Yukio
That’s right. I’ll definitely go see the performances of the newborn MANKAI Company in the future. Have you made a decision on what to do next?
Sakuya
We’ll be doing a performance for Spring troupe!
Yukio
Is that so. I’m looking forward to it.
Izumi
(I’ve been through a lot up to this point, but I’m glad I can see dad casually like this now.)
Tumblr media
Itaru
Hmm...... it’s the 7th anniversary, I wanna do something different than usual for this one.
*phone rings*
Itaru Hm?
Tumblr media
(Incoming call: Great Demon King)
Itaru
…... Ugh.
---------- T/Ns:
I chose to use ‘V-tuber’ instead of the direct translation ‘V-talent’ for a more localized feel

Note
i’m one of those that found the last chapter lacking mainly because of the lack of chihaya’s presence. Since the first chapter it has been set up that this story about chihaya’s passion and her journey to having that passion come to fruition but somehow in the last ch, there’s not only a lack of chihaya scenes/pov (she’s the only one without a dedicated scene after the match, she’s the captain but she wasn’t there to pass the torch along with taichi, etc etc), but also there was a kind of a lot of a gags leveled at her character… which i found very reductive of the her growth and development we’ve seen until like the previous chapter.
even the banger line “are u giving this world your blessing or cursing it… we’ll never know. Isn’t that why we keep playing?” is shows as from shinobu’s pov. Well, that actually fit with her arc, but you know i was expecting something similar for chihaya’s character re: self-reflection on her journey, the legacy of the club later in the ch. but we never got that. I deeply appreciate the trio hug and the chitose core scene but… i wanted more from the titular character. Now i’m thinking maybe it was sensei’s way of showing the “i have friends who figure out my feelings for me” by giving the spotlight to every other character except for chiha. And to emphasize the confession “the only one who could tell my feelings is me”. But then i honestly don’t know what to feel about that then. Wow i guess i’m just ranting about the lack of emotional celebration i was expecting for a conclusion for a beloved main character T^T.
You’re a very level headed with your analysis, and you seem to at least grasp the author’s intent so i kind of wanted to ask your thoughts about chihaya’s depiction in the last ch, and just in general the culmination of her character. Thank u sm 🫶🏽
*correction: to emphasize her agency in the confession w/ “the only one who can express my feelings”
i think that’s why i generally feel like suetsugu could have gone for another chapter or two like you already know i’m more than satisfied with the conclusions but that’s not to say they couldn’t have been given more page time to marinate. on one hand i felt like the focus in the last chapter re: karuta specifically was moreso on suou and shinobu bc their final resolution had to be as a result of and a reflection on the loss, whereas the final resolution to arata and chihaya’s respective journeys was what allowed them to win in the first place yknow? but at the same time i can totally agree that it would have been nice to have a last chapter entirely about chihaya since it has always been her story at the core and there are so many connections she’s made that it would have been wonderful to appreciate in full. that line about her friends knowing her feelings is actually one of the reasons i kind of hesitated at first to give my full opinion on that segment bc in some of the translations to other languages the connotations of that line are very different. like with this main translation we get the impression that she’s saying her friends know her feelings better than she does which is understandably irritating for us to read bc the whole point of the story has been about respecting her choice and her agency. but then in some of these other translations apparently the impression is that she’s saying her friends know her well enough to trust her to reach the conclusions of her emotions on her own time. so that kinda muddles up things bc it’s like which translation is right? personally i prefer the latter but i’m not a japanese speaker in any sense so i have no idea if that’s really the implication being made. overwhelmingly i feel like she just needed more time with these conclusions like they’re not bad ones but them being shoved into a few pages at a time was.. not practical lol like i imagine she was excited to be done bc who wouldn’t but at the same time i don’t think anyone would have minded waiting if it meant the conclusions got the proper depth afforded to them that nearly every other story development has 😭

"They’re prolly going to end up marrying each other"
You and Ushiwaka have been friends ever since you were kids and you both are volleyball players as well. This year, you are a new admission in Shiratorizawa so,,,Ushijima shows you around. Much to the team’s suprise you both seem much more than friends but it's a pity that the only people oblivious to that fact is you two.
Pairing: Ushijima Wakatoshi x Reader
Word Count: 2.5k
Warnings: Soft Ushiwaka, lolol
Tumblr media
"A Girl? You can't be serious!" The whole volleyball team of Shiratorizawa couldn't believe what they just heard.
"Guys, I'm not kidding. A REAL GIRL, REAL CUTE, WAS WALKING AROUND THE CAMPUS WITH USHIJIMA-SAN AND THAT'S NOT ALL. When I was in the cafeteria I SAW HER LEANING ON USHIJIMA' S SHOULDER, AND SHE SEEMED ASLEEP(?) WHILE HE CONTINUED EATING HIS FOOD LIKE IT WAS NOTHING" continues the still shocked Goshiki ''Decent in studies, one of the top volleyball aces in the nation and now a girlfriend, is there anything he can't do?!!'' He mumbles to himself.
When Goshiki told the whole team that Ushijima was roaming around the campus with a girl, it was only natural for the team to be in utter shock, considering the type of reserved guy Ushijima usually is. Even Tendou was unaware about your existence, but the way Goshiki was describing you both made it seem that you both relatively affectionate.
The sound of the gym door opening silenced the current discussion and that's when the whole team Ushijima entering with a girl on his side through the gym doors together.
"Wakatoshi, When you told me it'll only be a small walk around campus, YOU SHOULD'VE MENTIONED THAT YOU WERE GOING TO GIVE ME THE WHOLE TOUR OF YOUR GINORMOUS SCHOOL WHICH I CAN ONLY PRESUME WOULD COVER AN ENTIRE DISTRICT" You complained while facing him and walking backwards on your toes trying to put on the most intimidating face you could to show how seriously frusfrated you were.
"I once again apologize, Y/N, I should've asked you to skip your before-school training for the day. I will surely make up for it later, perhaps...a little detour to the ice-cream shop after school might help?" He offered
"It might" you pouted.
The whole team was stunned watching this scene play in front of their own very eyes. The stoic captain of Shiratorizawa, One of the top 3 aces of the country, was being told off by a girl half a foot smaller than him AND HE WAS ACTUALLY APOLOGIZING? Also not to forget...both of you were also on first name basis? Nothing made sense anymore. After a small pause Tendou was the first to break the silence.
"Oya oya, now lookie at what do we have here? Wakatoshi-kun~ You know it would be real rude of you to not introduce your friend to us, right?"
"Oh but of course, I would like all of you to meet L/N Y/N, she is actually going to join our school through sports scholarship for volleyball itself. She is also my neighbour from back home and the closest thing to a best friend I had, ever since when I was a child" Ushijima replies to which Tendou reacts with an "ouch" and an over exaggerated act of heartbreak with his hand on his chest at the fact that Ushiwaka never openly admited Tendou to be his best friend like this.
To which you laugh "You must be Tendou, right? ‘The Miracle Boy!’ if i remeber correctly" YOU smile "Wakatoshi actually talks a lot about his team and especially you! So don't worry, if we’re talking about how close we are to the spiker boy over here, we're probably at the same level, he just won’t admit it" to which Tendou replies "You know what, I think I kinda ike you, new girl. You’re gonna fit in just fine" to which you flash a cheeky smile and a thumb up what a dork.
Your conversation was cut short when Coach Washijo enters the gym and everyone in the team as well as you gave a respectable bow and an energetic ‘Good Afternoon’ and after acknowledging the greetings the old coach finally notices you.
‘‘Ah yes, you must be Y/N-chan. I've heard great things about you from Wakatoshi-kun, I'm glad that you joined the academy. I look forward to see your performance in the Girl's Team.‘‘
"I am very grateful for the opportunity, Coach" You say while giving a sincere bow.
"Although...the girls team are out for a practice match against Aoba Johsai's Girls Team, so you can practice with the boys today." Then he looks away to face the team "I have to attend a staff meeting today so the team managers will conduct today's practice and write a thorough report. So whomever is found slack off during the practice will recieve extra laps and 200 jump serves as penalty tomorrow morning. As for the match Y/N-chan and Wakatoshi-kun you both can divide the teams as per convenience, that is all for today".
They team was surprised to say the least. Coach never let anyone play against Ushiwaka unless he knew the other person could atleast withstand the power of Ushiwaka's Spike so it wouldn't cause any unintentional injury and from the looks of it you didn't seem to be very immune to that fact since you weren't exactly very muscular or buff. You were even somewhat tiny when compared to the rest of the team and yet Coach Washijo was confident enough to put you against Ushiwaka himself.
You got paired up with Tendou, Semi, Taichi, Goshiki and a few others when you divided teams amongst the players present.
"So Y/N-chan~ What position do you play exactly?" Tendou asked.
"Oh I didn’t tell you guys yet? I’m a Wing Spiker" You reply.
"Oh Really?! Little miss Y/N here spikes?" Tendou teases while making all sorts of gestures indicating how small compared to him you were.
"Cut it out, you idiot" Semi interjected with a slight smack to his head.
"If Ushijima-san has a good opinion about Y/N-san's ability, I wouldn’t doubt her considering how rarely he acknowledges another player’s skills" says Goshiki while internally thinking why can’t he ever get Ushiwaka's approval too.
"Wanna bet who scores the most points, Guess Monster?" You challenge Tendou with an smirk on your face.
"Oh my! Little miss Y/N is so daring~You got yourself a deal!" Tendou said excitedly.
The refree’s whistle blew and the match began. Ushiwaka’s team started with a serve which was recieved by your team and the ball was in the air. Semi recieved the ball and tossed it in the air as a set, but that set turned out to be sloppy because when he and the team were supposed to do warm ups and stretching, they were instead busy talking about you and Ushiwaka. The ball was set a little too high and far away for Tendou to hit and Goshiki was positioned in the back, so everyone expected it to be a lost cause and didn’t run after it, the other team relaxed as well. But then an unexpected tiny figure rushed between Semi and Tendou and jumped almost more than half their height and spiked the ball hard into Ushiwaka’s court, while everyone was still processing what just happened in what just felt like a split second. The refree’s whistle rang, evident of the point you just scored.
" Getting sloppy are we now, Miracle Boy?" You teased to which Tendou replied with his sticking his tongue out ‘’I’m just getting started, don’t get cocky’’ and when no one was noticing a small smile crept up on Ushiwaka’s face while the rest of them were plain frozen in their places still processing how were you able to perfect a shot with a set like that. The set was obviously bad and the chances of hitting it was very low but somehow you managed to fix your placement, jump about 3 feet high and spike the ball with crazy accuracy and with power what can only be assumed second to Ushiwaka himself!! All in just a split second.
During the match, you hit a lot of spikes and so did Tendou but the gap between the number of his spikes and yours just kept getting wider while the score of your team and Ushiwaka’s team was almost tied most of the time, no one had the clear lead the whole match, and no one was ready to back down from the other.
At set point, when you were positioned in the back it was your time to serve and you managed to serve a decent ball which almost scored another point if it wasn’t for their libero’s last minute recieve. The libero passed the ball to their setter, Shirabu who set the ball for Ushiwaka who then spiked the ball aimed at the corner of your court but before the ball hit the ground you whooshed in the last minute and managed to recieve the ball perfectly and then Semi and Tendou were able to score the last point which made your team win the practice match. When the refree whistle indicating your win, all your team mates started walking towards the benches, the managers started passing towels and water bottles but you on the other hand, started to walk towards Ushijima furiously.
‘‘That last shot. You intentionally hit the last spike slow and nearer to me so I can recieve it easily, didn’t you?!‘‘ You spat while slightly panting
‘‘You caught up on that?‘‘ Ushijima said while looking slightly sideways in order to avoid eye contact.
‘‘Why would you do that anyways, you don’t think I’m capable enough to take you head-on big guy?‘‘ You were furious. You might not be as tall and as poised as Ushijima but you weren’t bad either, you practiced a lot to perfect your techniques and when Ushijima deliberately was lazying his game, ofcourse that would make you mad.
Watching this a million thoughts came to the team’s head
Goshiki: This was a SLOWED shot? And that was an EASY recieve? Can they just adopt me already-
Semi: How did she recieve that ball that easily and wait- how would she know, if this was slowed and not a regular shot, how close are they exactly?
Shirabu: Even a spike like that has like a 95% success rate and she’s still not happy? She’s crazy,,,but in a good way I suppose?
Tendou: It’s like watching a little puppy trying to intimidate a Wolf and I bet she doesn’t even realizes it, how cute~
‘‘There’s no point of playing if you keep giving me half-assed shots like that, If you don’t want to practice with me anymore, just say it and I’ll go‘‘
‘‘No no Y/N, you’re getting me all wrong, please give me a chance to explain” Ushijima had genuine worry in his eyes when he said this he had a slight change of pitch in his voice ‘‘It’s true I intentionally slowed down the last spike but that wasn’t because I doubt you, It was because I know you like to give it your all, even in a practice games but the game wasn’t fair in the first place. You had gone through your morning training, then you had to attend school and then a whole tour of the campus, So it was obvious that you were already tired even if you weren’t showing it, I’m sorry but I couldn’t help but notice it when you runs were slower, spikes were less accurate than usual and I just couldn’t bear to see it anymore so I thought that it would help to finish the game early‘‘
It was true, you were already exhausted after all you went through during the day but it never showed on your face and the team didn’t realised it either, Still a phrase resounded in their heads ‘runs were slower and the spikes were less accurate than usual’ What kind of a monster was hidden inside your tiny frame?!
‘‘Listen Wakatoshi, I appreciate your concern but I don’t liked to be babied around like that, You can be upfront about it and I would’ve been mature about it‘‘ you said.
‘‘Then it’s my mistake I assumed you would just chase after me trying to beat me up‘‘ Ushiwaka replied genuinly thinking he was wrong.
‘‘DAMN RIGHT I WOULD HAVE, NEVER DOUBT ME EVER AGAIN OR IT WOULD BE THE LAST TIME YOU DO USHIJIMA WAKATOSHI‘‘ You screamed out to which Ushijima replied with an instant ‘’Yes ma’am‘’
‘‘Now that we have sorted that out, after a change of clothes let’s go out and eat some Hayashi Rice‘‘ You spoke to which Ushiwaka replied ‘’Certainly’’.
After the practice you changed into a normal t-shirt and shorts and after reaching the bench just outside the gym you realised that you changed faster than Ushijima, so you decided to sit and wait for him. While you were waiting you felt your calf muscles aching after the whole day of running and jumping,,,and since you already had the disadvantage of being smaller than the rest of the guys you were playing with, you had to run and jump extra.
Ushijima and the rest of the team came out after changing and were walking in your direction at a distance, and while the rest of the team were talking amongst themselves he from afar saw you slightly massaging your sore calfs, he already knew that you today would’ve been a toll on you body.
‘‘Ready to go?‘‘ You ask when Ushijima finally reached you, to which he gave a nod and then he picked up your bag and hung it over his chest to which you said
‘‘Wait what are you doin-’’
‘‘I noticed you still seem to be tired and I still feel guilty about the tour, so it’s the least I can do’’
"Is that so?" You said with a childish look and a cheeky smile on your face ‘"Then you can’t expect me to walk all the way over till we reach the restaurant' you gave him your puppy eyes look and without another word he got on one knee while you walked and stood over him with a stupid "yay" and then wrapped your arms around his neck while nuzzling your face into his broad shoulders with a stupid smile while he got a hold of your legs and finally stood up.
The whole team were frozen at their spots internally cursing both of you on either how single you both made them feel or how oblivious can you be. He then looked towards Tendou and spoke "Tendou, I’ll be a little late than usual, so you can lock the dorm room door if you decide to sleep early, I have my spare key along with me" to which Tendou just said "Oh okay" strangely being less talkative than usual.
After that Ushiwaka just started walking towards the restaurant with you Piggybacking on him like it was nothing while the discussion amongst the team about you two continued.
"They DO realise that THAT is not how people who are 'just friends' act, right?" Goshiki says still shocked.
‘‘I wouldn’t be so sure about that‘‘ Shirabu replied.
‘‘It’s so scary how oblivios Ushijima usually is but in matters like this he couldn’t get any dumber‘‘ Semi continues.
‘‘Who wants to bet against me that they won’t end up together?‘‘ Tendou speaks up with one of his arm in the air and one eye closed while the other looked around to see the people around him.
"Are you kidding, who’s stupid enough to take you up on that bet" Semi replies "Weren’t you here the whole practice? They’re prolly going to end up marrying each other’’.

Violet Evergarden the Movie: Official Event Report
Tumblr media
Movie Release Commemoratory Stage Greetings
Two stage greetings were held at Shinjuku Piccadilly in response to the thoughts of the staff cast, “We want to express our gratitude directly to everyone who supported us”. They were broadcasted as live viewings in 152 movie theaters nationwide.
← Previous || Index || Next →
First Stage Greeting
Tumblr media
Her countenance filled with emotion, Ishikawa Yui-san, who has all this time been voicing the protagonist, Violet Evergarden, from the TV series to “Violet Evergarden Gaiden -Eternity and the Auto-Memories Doll-” and now the theatrical adaptation, “Violet Evergarden the Movie”, said in front of the audience, “I am happy to be able to convey my feelings to so many people. We wholeheartedly took in the story of the Gaiden and of this movie after the TV series ended. The movie is both a wish and a dream. My chest is swelling up now that we finally managed to release it to the public.”
Gilbert Bougainvillea’s voice actor, Namikawa Daisuke-san, stated, “I could keenly feel the spirit of Kyoto Animation-san and the director’s feelings during the recordings. Ever since the movie was released, I saw many responses of people who were happy with it, so I am glad to be able to participate (in this event) today.”
Overcome with emotion, Director Ishidate Taichi, who directed the TV series and this work, told the audience, “The fact that I am standing here today and that we were able to release the movie yesterday feel like a dream. Once we decide to do something, we have to put all we can currently do into the work, is what I thought. I am standing here today as a representative, but I think this is a work that all of the staff really did their best to make. To the people who have come here today and the ones watching this as live viewing: I think we were able to see this to completion because of your support. Thank you very much, truly.”
As if in response to the tears from Director Ishidate, the other people on stage also shed some. TRUE-san, who was in charge of the theme song, commented, “My emotions are overflowing, but I am experiencing the actual feeling that this day has arrived at last. At the same time, since I have to sing the theme song this time, I feel that I must sing with all my heart, so that more people, even if just one, will come in contact with this work.”
Upon being asked about her impressions on the finished work, Ishikawa-san wept, “I am simply grateful that it has been finished. We had the goal to depict all of Violet’s life together and we had heard that the director was doing his best as well, so we had no choice but give our utmost in order not to lose to him, but when I watched the movie yesterday first-thing in the morning, I thought we were able to make something wonderful.”
Tumblr media
When being asked about memories from the recordings: “Gilbert and Violet’s reunion scene was the last one we recorded, to which the sound producer Tsuruoka (Youta)-san said, ‘Ishikawa, the Violet that you have in your head is the right one. Do it as you please’ and entrusted it to me. When I was told, ‘However, I won’t put sound (the soundtrack) to accompany it’, I felt an immense pressure (laughs).” (Ishikawa)
“I did it while holding a handkerchief and turning into a tearful mess and was crying pretty loud when it was over. There is a scene where Gilbert shouts, ‘Violet!’, which we redid many times, but my voice is breaking into falsetto in the take that they used. There are versions where my voice doesn’t crack, but I let them decide which to use.” (Namikawa)
Director Ishidate was deeply touched as he spoke, “Tsuruoka-san told me, ‘The version that has more emotion and more feelings to it might somewhat not match the animation, but I’ll use that instead of the one where the acting was skillful’. As someone in the position of making the art, I also thought that if the animation did not match the acting, I would rather fix the animation.” When he said this, both Ishikawa-san and Namikawa-san were impressed with an “I’m grateful for that” and an “it was fun”.
Tumblr media
An unknown story of the theme song “WILL” was dropped: “Ever since the TV series started, I had this real feeling that everyone truly loved Violet, so I sensed that I should not make a self-righteous song, but instead produce a musical composition strongly loaded with the will and emotions of each of us who took part in the series. Regarding the sound, I requested Evan Call-san, who was in charge of the soundtrack, but the general consensus was that, for this time’s theme song, we believed a song that jumped from within the world of the series and felt like an extension of the soundtrack, thus enabling people to enjoy the world of the series the way it is, would be most fitting, so I was conscious of getting even closer to the series while making it. The result is very grand, but I think it turned out as a soft and nostalgic piece that gently snuggles up to people’s hearts.”
When Ishikawa-san said, “Your chest swells just from the ending song playing. I had always been listening to TRUE-san’s singing voice in the TV series’ theme song, ‘Sincerely’, so I thought it was a fitting song for the end”, TRUE-san spoke, “This time, beginning with ‘Sincerely’, and after ‘Michishirube’, which became the hope of all of us, they connected with ‘WILL’ and ‘Mirai no Hito’, so being able to create something with everyone from the cast and staff, who hold music so dear, makes me really proud and really grateful.
What Ishikawa-san raised as a point to pay attention to was, “Taylor, who appeared in the Gaiden, was in the picture decorating the CH Postal Company when Daisy went there! I was able to feel that the story continued and everyone lived on, so I hope people can see these detailed points too.”
Director Ishidate mentioned, “The old woman who was at the CH Postal Foundation Memorial’s Mail Museum when Daisy went to visit it. That was Nerine, who used to work at the CH Postal Company’s reception desk. She was actually taking a nap when Daisy called out to her. The people who make the art did their best to include this kind of detailed dramatization”, wishing that everyone would by all means enjoy the particulars of the world of Violet Evergarden.
Lastly: “I believe this is a work that can grant hope to everybody, regardless of gender or age. It is a very precious one for me too, and I think it will not lose its color even many years, many dozens of years from now. I also deem its message as extremely important. I will be happy if ‘Violet Evergarden’ remains in everyone’s hearts from now on.” (Namikawa)
“Again, the cast and staff all adore Violet, and after receiving that warm applause from everyone, I felt like telling Violet how much people love her. I think this work has not only Violet’s life but also our feelings engraved into it. I pray that it becomes a work that will stay in everyone’s hearts forever.” (Ishikawa)
“Someone precious, someone who supports you, someone who holds you dear... I believe everybody has one such person. I hope this has become a work that will make each of you think back on your own important people and wonder if you are conveying to them the things you have to say after you finish watching it,” Director Ishidate said, a thunderous applause rising from the audience stands.
Second Stage Greeting
Tumblr media
During the second stage greeting, Ishikawa-san greeted everyone with, “This theatrical release was a goal for all of us, and even as a fan, I was really looking forward to completing Violet’s life tragectory, but there was also a part of me that felt scared as to how the viewers would react, precisely because this series is a precious one. Now I get to see everyone’s faces in this stage greeting, and I myself also watched the movie in the theater on yesterday’s first morning session, in which I heard that the tickets were being bought like hotcakes. The love that we are receiving from all of you was my answer, is what I thought.”
While instigating laughter from the venue with an “Ishikawa-san just gave a perfect response, so I was left with nothing to say (laughs)”, Namikawa-san then said, “I myself am overjoyed that we were able to release it without any issues, and starting with everyone who is attending today, there are more than 150 theaters showing this as live viewing. The fact that so many people are watching this work makes me extremely happy.”
TRUE-san said about her contentment regarding the release, “I had always been dreaming with this day, so I am loaded with feelings of joy. I received many words that made me extremely happy during the screening just now and on social media, so I am personally aware that we were finally able to welcome this day. It is exactly because being able to deliver a series like this, sing for it and be in charge of said songs is not something common nowadays that I am filled to the brim with gratitude towards all of you and am thoroughly chewing up this happiness and joy.”
Director Ishidade prefaced with, “I have said the same thing in the first stage greeting, but I wanted to convey this to everyone no matter what”. “This theatrical adaptation of ‘Violet Evergarden’ saw its release yesterday, but it does not feel quite real to me yet. Having several viewers watch it like this makes me actually feel, even if little by little, that we have indeed finished it. This is the result of the staff doing their best until we arrived here, and I strongly feel that it is because we had everyone from all the companies involved, and above all else, we had strength from the support of truly so many people, that we were really able to complete it. Thank you very much, truly,” he said about his flood of emotions, loud applause arising from the venue.
Upon being asked about her impressions on the finished work, Ishikawa-san said, “I feel we have made something that we can deliver with confidence to the people who love the ‘Violet Evergarden’ series. Since the TV series wrapped up so neatly on episode 13, my heart was racing as I asked myself, ‘How will this turn out?’ at the fact that Violet’s story was going to continue further in a movie, but I think we have arranged a good finale.”
Namikawa-san said, “The feelings of the creators... of everyone from the staff, starting with the director, were expressed straightforwardly in it, so I had the impression that this work will bee-line its way to your hearts. This kind of simple-approach work is important no matter how many years go by, and I thought once again that I want people to be watching it even after a long time passes. I myself was so touched that it made me go, ‘So it can move you this much’, which I am grateful for.”
TRUE-san said, “I felt yet again that Violet has grown into a really wonderful woman. Being able to watch over the growth of one girl from so closely makes me extremely happy. This has been more of a blockbuster than I had imagined, and having felt the emotions of the people involved from each drawing and each scene, I sensed one more time that I must continue singing the theme songs to my utmost so that this work will reach more people, even if just one more.”
Director Ishidate commented on the production of this work, saying, “Regarding the character named Violet, during the scenario stages of production in which there was still no art, the sound producer, Tsuruoka (Youta)-san, had said, ‘If we were to exemplify her with a color, it would be white rather than transparent’, and I thought that this was truly the case. I thought her straightforward and earnest figure was beautiful. If we were to animate this the way it is, I avoided displaying my originality as much as possible, did my best to overcome the urge to exercise my ingenuity and worked on the production while aiming to depict her in an honest and straightforward manner.”
Regarding the differences between the TV series and the movie, as well as her own character, Ishikawa-san said, “There was nothing that I had to do over again. The screenplay was so very solid, followed by wonderful art, and Violet’s path was finished up properly, so all I had to do was ride that wave. I felt that it would have been out of character if I had attempted to do anything, that something might have come out with a different meaning. There was a script, there was an animation, and after absorbing them, I just had to use my voice to match them, so to say. I already have things such as, ‘if it were Violet, she’d say this’ and, ‘she’d have this kind of attitude’ internalized, so if I were told to do anything, it would be just to faithfully reproduce this image of her with my voice, as I believe that we all create and nurture the characters together.”
Tumblr media
Namikawa-san spoke about the facts of the case, “I think this applies to everyone, but we tend to beautify our recollections of the past. Gilbert left a deep impression in the TV series, and to Violet, his existence was like a ray of hope, so I think he might have been reflected in everyone’s eyes like that too. At the very beginning of the movie’s recordings, the sound director, Tsuruoka-san, and the director were having a conversation that went like, ‘People might... hate Gilbert for this’, and I did my job while thinking, ‘That’s not true!’... When I asked, ‘Director, why did you think that?’, he said, ‘Because doesn’t Gilbert say some horrible things to Violet in the movie? I believe that we can’t let people think, “Why does Violet have to go be with a guy like that?”. We have to give a proper form to Gilbert’s appeal and the goodness of his innermost feelings. This wasn’t easy to understand from the flow of the story in the script, so I was very worried as to how Ishikawa-san and you would apply your voices once you had the script in hands. “If he turns into a detestable guy, it’s over,” I thought, so before it (the recordings) started, I told you this quite insistently, didn’t I?’.”
Regarding the musical composition of the theme song, TRUE-san said, “Violet is a girl who is truly loved by many people. I feel this love not only from those of us who take part in the production, but also from everyone who supports us. So I thought that I had to properly incorporate the intentions and feelings of all of us into the musical composition. We all have many things that we want to forget or leave in the past, but Violet is an extremely strong girl who properly carries her past mistakes and how much those mistakes hurt her, and tries to walk forward. Thus I assembled the words with the feeling that I had to make it into a warm, humane and heartful musical composition, in order for people to firmly accept the outcome that this girl has chosen.
As it seemed that Ishikawa-san had three days and Namikawa-san had two days for their dubbing: “We pieced our schedules together so that we could have as much interaction as possible. On the first day, we recorded with all the members of the series, and for the other two days, I did the scenes with Gilbert with all my might.”
Tumblr media
“It could even make you think that maybe Violet was possessing her (Ishikawa-san). Normally, when we overlap with each other, we do another shot, but in this case, we did them simultaneously, and they became part of the work just like that. During the last scene, she did a ‘live’ performance that could have only happened at that time and did not need any rearranging. You cried your eyes out, didn’t you?” Namikawa-san asked, to which Ishikawa-san, albeit embarrassed with a “It wasn’t that big of a deal!”, reminisced, “The last scene was on the last day. It felt like all of the final day was arranged for the sake of this scene. We were recording about every other week, and the recording of the second day ended with Violet being in a tough situation. Even though I am not the type that can’t switch back to myself, it was really hard on me, and I was like, ‘Hurry and let them meet’.”
“The recordings went on basically in one strike, without repeating retakes for parts that didn’t go well. What I really think is amazing is that, although Ishikawa-san said that ‘the path was already there and all she had to do was ride the wave’, in the end, I believe it’s not something you can get on so easily. I think she performs while being well aware of what she should do and how she should act at a given moment, having a broad understanding of the character, story and the whole. In the recording sites, the cast is usually in a different place (booth) from the director and staff. The cast can’t hear the staff’s voices. When the recording ended and I asked Tsuruoka-san, ‘That part just now was different from how I had imagined it, but Tsuruoka-san, what do you think?’, he said, ‘Why do we need to redo it?’, so I left it as that (laughs) with, ‘You’re right! Sorry’, and when I watched the finished product, I concluded that I was the one in the wrong. In the scene at the end where Violet and Gilbert run towards each other, when Violet cried, she was bawling much more in my head,” Director Ishidate said, stepping back when Ishikawa-san drew closer to the acrylic panels that were meant for keeping social distance and said, “You should have told me that back then!”, which instigated laugher from the audience. “When I saw the finished work, I realized that the right answer was not to appeal by crying in excess but instead by weeping her eyes out in a natural manner, following the course of events. So it was my mistake; I’m sorry,” stated the director, and then Namikawa-san wrapped it up with, “This is a work that we all made together on good terms with each other”, allowing people to feel the merit of their teamwork.
Regarding their recommended scenes and points to pay attention to: “I personally felt Violet’s growth and the fact that she had become older after she made a pinky promise with Ulysses in his hospital room. She wipes a tear away for a second. Wasn’t she holding back from doing that on the 10th episode of the TV series? I do wonder why people become moved to tears more easily as they get older, but I believe it’s surely because we come to understand many things and are able to picture all sorts of scenarios, so we cry even more. Violet used not to know anything, so she probably wouldn’t even be able to cry if it weren’t for Major, but she did her best to hold back her tears in episode 10, and when I saw her wiping them away in the movie, even though it was just for an instant, I thought, ‘So Violet has grown older’.” (Ishikawa)
“There are too many highlights, so I think that even the people who watched it several times will experience new discoveries, as I believe that anime is an art of coordination. The art style is amazing, the screenplay is wonderful, and when the music starts, you’re promptly pulled into that world. No matter what cut you take from it, I think ‘Violet Evergarden’ is a high-quality work.” After saying this, Namikawa-san eyed the cheat sheet in the director’s hand. Ishikawa-san revealed the actual reason for it: “I used to think that the director had a cheat sheet because he couldn’t speak when he was nervous, but it turns out he talks too much without it.”
After looking at the cheat sheet and hesitating, the director said, “Nobody knows this for sure! I shall refrain from giving the right answer here. But the last letter that Violet wrote to Gilbert has a line break. That one actually wasn’t read in the dialogue. For everyone’s enjoyment, there’s no problem if the line isn’t read aloud, but something that Violet might say is written in the course of that letter. That is, the last sentence, which had enough motivation power to lead Gilbert, who until then kept persistently saying that he would not see her, to break into a run. I hope you can find the answer to it one day.”
Lastly, TRUE-san concluded with, “I have been walking together with this work ever since the TV series. ‘Violet’ has now come to an end, but when I finished watching the movie, I didn’t think it was the end of this series. I believe that what Violet has granted us will continue to live from now on in the hearts of each and every one of us, as well as those who supported us. I wrote the song ‘Mirai no Hito e’ with this in mind – it’s the one that played at the ending –, so I it would make me happy if you all come back to this series and music and reach out to Violet’s world as many times as you like while treading through your future. And I have composed this piece hoping that the future you all will tread is as gentle and warm as possible. By all means, please keep supporting ‘Violet Evergarden’ forever and ever.”
Namikawa-san said, “There may be people who say that the story might have been more beautiful if Gilbert were dead, but I think that staying alive, in spite of how hard and painful it is, is a very important thing. I think Gilbert was by no means a strong man. He acted stubborn, but that was the utmost that Gilbert’s strength could do. I believe strength is something different from person to person, and I want to keep performing this kind of aspect very sensibly, so, since I’m also not a strong person, I voiced him by desperately doing my best to figure out ‘what would he be thinking in a moment like this’ and ‘what would he be feeling when he speaks’. I would be happy if this wonderful work called ‘Violet Evergarden’ could turn into hope for everyone. It was released just recently, but I hope we can nurture this series together from now on too, so please continue supporting us.”
Ishikawa-san said, “This movie has always been a goal for everyone involved and for me as well. About two years have passed since the TV series aired, but ever since it ended, in some corner of my mind, there was the feeling that ‘we have to finish Violet Evergarden with a movie’. I felt that, surely, once we completed it... it’s not as if I would quit being a voice actress, but I would be left with no regrets. We have finished depicting Violet’s life here, but after she reunites with Gilbert, she starts living a new life. I, too, received strength from this, as I cannot afford to stagnate in one place. If you ask me whether this makes me feel lonely or not, it does, because I want to keep voicing Violet for a lot longer, but even as I exert myself more and more in order to meet my next roles in future series, Violet will continue living inside of me, so I can’t stop wishing that she will keep on living inside all of you too, and that this series will continue to be loved for a long, long time. I hope my desire can reach many people, along with the passionate feelings and wishes of everyone who took part in this. Please continue supporting us from now on too.”
Tumblr media
The director brought it to a close with, “This has most likely been the series that took most time to make out of the ones that Kyoto Animation has produced. In that meantime, we thought about all sorts of things, and now that we have finished it and managed to deliver it to everyone like this, I believe it is “completed” as a series. I thought that, if this became a work that would make all of you who watched it think back on those who matter to you – just as Gilbert and Violet mattered to each other –, on the precious people who are right next to you, then there would truly be meaning to it, thus that is how we had been working on the production. If you think that way in no small numbers, then all of us, including the staff members who aren’t here today, will be happy. Thank you so very much for watching it today.”
And so, the stage greeting ended with a thunderous applause.

Digimon Fanfic Recommendations PART 1
So, during this quarantine I was dragged by the Digimon fandom again and I’ve been completely immersed in it. And at this point I’m past halfway the total pages of fanfic both in Fanfiction and in AO3.
So I present you the fics I think you need to read because they are worth it, ALMOST ALL OF THEM ARE COMPLETED SO YES.
PS: I tolerate all ships.
PS2: I’ll put in the name if it’s incompleted o completed. If it has 5 years without an update I’ll put dead.
PS3: THIS FIRST PART ARE FANFIC ONLY ON FANFICTION.NET
MANZANAR by GeminiStar01 (Short-story. COMPLETE)
https://www.fanfiction.net/s/2781728/1/Manzanar
Summary: “Kouji and Kouichi find themselves in a JapaneseAmerican interment camp in World War 2 California. They're certain that the Digimon have something to do with thier coming here, but to what end?”
Thoughts: It has good writing, very realistic. It’s really concerning when they realize where they are and I really like how both are portrayed in the fic, both are in character which is amazing. Also good history lessons.
TIGER LILIES by AncientLou (Short-Story. COMPLETE)
https://www.fanfiction.net/s/8042317/1/Tiger-Lilies
Summary: “A human lifepsan is an adventure, but much like the adventures in the digital world, they end. What becomes of a digimon left behind?”
Thoughts: VERY EMOTIONAL. I was about to cry every chapter. Very good writing. Puts in perspective that the digidestined are only humans, unlike the Digimons. The story follows what happens to almost every partnered digimon when their human dies. Broke my heart but it was worth it, it shows them in character really well.
YOU MISS HIM by bobtheacorn (One-Shot. COMPLETE)
https://www.fanfiction.net/s/12370178/1/you-miss-him
Summary: “Overhead, Kari yawns; a sound muffled under her hand, barely even a sigh. / Kamiya Sibling stuff.”
Thoughts: I really love sibling relationships portrayed in fanfics. It’s very sweet and this one isn’t the exception. The author showed what it’s like living on the Kamiya residence and their relationship as siblings very well.
CONTACT by bobtheacorn (One-Shot. COMPLETE)
https://www.fanfiction.net/s/11700482/1/contact
Summary: “Davis doesn't start the fight, but he does finish it. / rushprompt”
Thoughts: When I first read it I found it that could very much happen, Daisuke is someone who would not back down when someone threatens his friends. Everyone is in character, and I LOVE THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN KEN AND DAISUKE IN THIS ONE. It can be taken as romantic or simply friends, the way you like it the most.
BROKEN WINGS by Kaeera (Short-story. COMPLETE)
https://www.fanfiction.net/s/722250/1/Broken-Wings
Summary: “Everybody thought that Daisuke was carefree, not? Everybody believed that he was happy...but what, when the truth is different and he has to deal with a trauma he is not ready to deal with?”
Thoughts: ANGST TO THE BONE PEOPLE. I SUFFERED. But otherwise enjoyed. I think there’s a lot that can be learned in this fic, very well written and down to earth. People can do horrible things every day, and many unknown people suffer the consequences in more ways than we can imagine, like our two protagonists.
ALL SEEMS BEAUTIFUL by Fizzing Wizard (Long story. UNCOMPLETE. Dormant since 2017, also on AO3 but with less chapters)
https://www.fanfiction.net/s/4446177/1/All-Seems-Beautiful
Summary: “After a bizarre incident at the camp, Taichi learns he's vanishing from his own world and becoming part of the Digital World. Meanwhile the Chosen take hits from every corner: the Spore Children, plus an enemy or several on the digital plane. And they can't keep their personal lives from tangling. ACT 2: The Chosen were dealt the worst blow possible, and it's tearing them apart.”
Thoughts: I was looking for a Taichi/Tai’s fanfic for so long. AND I FOUND IT. This story has everything, betrayals, love, FRIENDSHIP, and death. Everyone is in character which is wonderful, Taichi’s way of dealing with everything is very “goggle head like”. The descriptions are very accurate, and feel very natural.
FRIENDS TO THE END by Schnickledooger (one-shot. COMPLETE)
https://www.fanfiction.net/s/5915938/1/Friends-To-The-End
Summary “Matt and Tai. Together in trouble again. Lucky they're friends, right?”
Thoughts: Really good portrayal of their friendship. Warms up my heart every time I read it.
HERE WITH ME by Mika-chan (One-shot. COMPLETE)
https://www.fanfiction.net/s/569622/1/Here-With-Me
Summary: “Taichi needs an appendectomy; he isn't thrilled. Taichi & Yamato friendship story.”
Thoughts: To quote a review “straightforward, simple, and sweet.” VERY WHOLESOME.
TOMORROW by Mika-chan (Short-story. COMPLETE)
https://www.fanfiction.net/s/12130819/1/Tomorrow
Summary: “It's times like these when his father won't stop lecturing him about school and when Yamato won't stop being so self-absorbed, that Tai wishes life could be simple again—could really be just about fighting evil Digimon and saving the world.”
Thoughts: I really like this story because it shows how school can sometime be very stressful. And more importantly it depicts Tai very well, because it shows that he’s alone, or he thinks he’s being abandoned by everyone.
THE LOST TAMER by Miss Anonymous hp (Long Story. COMPLETE)
https://www.fanfiction.net/s/10205417/1/The-Lost-Tamer
Summary: “Even before Takato was electrocuted, he was having a crummy day. It all started when he woke up with no memory, in a strange place, and surrounded by a group of kids known as the digidestined looking for somebody named TK. Now he, Guilmon, and five worried kids must set out to find out what exactly is going on… and why.”
Thoughts: I really like this portrayal of Takato. He’s very mature and his comments are very realistic. GUILMON IS THE SWEETEST. Even when you have all this characters in scene you don’t lose the essence. Very recommended. Has a sequel but it hasn’t been updated.
THE TEACHER OF ALL THINGS by Sadhelm2 (Long Story. COMPLETE)
https://www.fanfiction.net/s/9801628/1/The-Teacher-of-All-Things
Summary: “That time in summer camp wasn't the first time Tai went to the Digital World. How different would things be if a more experienced and jaded Tai was sucked into the Digital World? V-Tamers/adventure01”
Thoughts: Tai’s very mature for his age in this fic and I love it. He knows stuff, and he’s not what I expected in this fic. But that’s what I love it, if you guys read it you have A LOT of suprises coming. 10/10
HAS A SEQUEL TO KEEP ON RISING UNCOMPLETED. Set in 02. Dormant, last update on 2018.
WHAT WAS FORGOTTEN by Prince of Flames (Short Story. COMPLETE)
https://www.fanfiction.net/s/8197908/1/What-Was-Forgotten
Summary: “During his battle with Cherubimon, Takuya falls unconscious. While he is asleep, he dreams of a past forgotten, and friends that he once knew.”
Thoughts: It’s a 02x04 crossover. Very short and has fluff. Love it. Although it’s not showed you can’t tell the friendship the two other protagonists had with Takuya is real.
CROSSING WORLDS: THE SEALED DIGIVICE by Sigthbent (Long Story. COMPLETE) (Has prequel, completed. And has a Sequel, uncompleted).
https://www.fanfiction.net/s/5493589/1/Crossing-Worlds-The-Sealed-Digivice
Summary: “On a mission that has led Takuya out of his own dimension, he has ended up lost in another. Not only does the fate of multiple worlds rest on him succeeding, he'll also meet someone who will become forever intertwined with his destiny”
Thoughts: Another 02x04 crossover with GREAT worldbuilding. Everything is explained and you can understand the concepts easily. Takuya had a serious demeanor here, because of his new role as a “superior digidestined”(?) But has his charismatic smiles all over, very good characterizations of everyone. Cliffhangers, angst, fluff, EVERYTHING. AND THE POWER OF---
THE TAMER – A DIGIMON ADVENTURE by leonardo1123581321 (Long Story. COMPLETE) (Has a sequel, COMPLETE. HAS A THIRD PART ALSO WHICH IS ONGOING AND A LOT OF SHORT STORIES???)

Thoughts: This is a masterpiece. If you like Doctor Who then you’re gonna love this. It’s the perfect match. The Tamer owns the situations every time he appears. I just can’t explain it further YOU HAVE TO READ THIS. IT’S AMAZING.
Sequel: THE TAMER V1-2: ANOTHER DIGIMON ADVENTURE. (COMPLETE)

Thoughts: Ashh this fic. I really like it, I like the story, the world building. Everyone is in character, there’s so many mysteries. I’m really sad because the last chapter’s ending wasn’t what I expected and I need to know what’s happening. A good ride tho.
DIGIMON: CHAOTIC EVOLUTIONS REDONE by Katreal (Long Story. UNCOMPLETED. DEAD since 2015)
https://www.fanfiction.net/s/9679932/1/Digimon-Chaotic-Evolutions-Redone
Summary: “Posing as a Digidestined pair, and barred from spirit evolution save in the most dire of circumstances, Kouji and Kouichi struggle to aid the Chosen Children in discovering the secret of evolution, all while trying to unravel the truth of the connection between their Spirits, and themselves.”
Thoughts: I got a bit confused with the names of the digimons so I had to write them down to know which one was which, but I think that’s because I found it when my English wasn’t that good? So, meh. I really like this story, everyone is on character, very nice rhythm, good descriptions and conflicts. I love Koji and I love Kouichi and their relationship throughout the story.
ADVENTURE 02 X FRONTIER by Freefan1412 (Long story. UNCOMPLETE. On hiatus)
https://www.fanfiction.net/s/7484328/4/Adventure-02-x-Frontier Summary “Four years after BelialVamdemon's defeat the peace in the Digiworld breaks apart. A mysterious army of evil Digimon is wreaking havoc and destroying everything the children have struggled to build. And the key to evil's victory, lies with 6 'visitors'. 02 x 04 crossover. Rated for violence. Hiatus.”
Thoughts: One of the first “mature” fanfic I’ve found and what I loved about this is the fact that the warriors are more attuned with their spirits, they are vessels for them to manifest and it’s amazing. And it clearly shows that their world (frontier) was harsher and brutal than the adventure gang.
DIGIMON: FLAME WITHIN MIRACLES by Loki921 (Short story. UNCOMPLETE)
https://www.fanfiction.net/s/11854296/1/Digimon-Flame-Within-Miracles
Summary: “Davis holds a secret about himself that the other the Digidestineds, except for Ken, don't know. What does this secret have to do with the mysterious digimon that has been spotted recently and Kari seems to know? When evil once again rises, the Digidestined better be prepared for all they know to be turned upside down and a fight for their lives. Season 2 and 4 Crossover.”
Thoughts: I re-read this recently and I still love it. It’s an easy read. The battles are amazing and well written in my opinion. Everyone feels real and the interactions also feel amazing.
At this point I think I made you a favor. Your welcome. If you pick any of the fics then I love you and go give your kudo to the fic because they deserve more recognition.

Chihaya 3 episode 23 reactions and thoughts on Taichihaya: Part 1 - How it came to be
I just watched this episode and I’m currently spazzing out at how well Madhouse executed this episode with only a few minor complaints.
WARNING: There will be spoilers ahead, so please do not read any further if you have not watched this episode or read the manga up to this point.
First off, IT HAPPENED!! Taichi has finally confessed to Chihaya!! While there were some scenes in the confession where the animation was spotty at best, the vast majority of it was superb. I especially liked the moment where it finally hits Chihaya that Taichi really likes her and that is the reason why he always goes off and does his own thing alone, without her.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
To be honest, I really like the anime’s pacing and how they chose to animate things. I really feel like they flushed things out properly, which helped the audience gain a better understanding of what actually happened. You can tell a lot of thought was put into where and for how long certain scenes would play out, resulting in certain events having more of an impact on the audience. I will say that I did love how by having a slower pace, we were able to see all the amazing animation effects that sensei intended to include in the manga, but was unable to do due to the fact there are certain things that can only be done using animation.
But before I go into any more details about the confession, let’s back up and take a look at what lead up to this momentous occasion.
In the anime, there is such a beautiful, clear progression in the plot that leads up to Taichi’s confession. First, there is a very clear focus on how Chihaya reacts to Taichi doing things in secret without telling her anything (i.e. Prince Takamatsu Memorial Cup). Chihaya is visibly distraught over the fact that Taichi is staying behind after the Meijin/Queen matches to play in the Prince Takamatsu Memorial Cup, but it’s Kana-chan who forces her to think about why Taichi didn’t tell her what he was planning on doing and why he does that. If Kana-chan didn’t force her to do this, Chihaya most likely would just lamented about the fact that Taichi is one step ahead of her. Chihaya actually tries to understand why Taichi did what he did and to determine his reasons behind his actions up until her first match at the New Year’s Karuta Tournament in Tokyo.
Tumblr media
This is a huge step for Chihaya in her character development, especially since the only thing Chihaya cares about is karuta. She doesn’t think about anything else besides karuta and Sudo-san even makes a comment about this at the end of the New Year’s Karuta Tournament’s finals where he tells her:
“I’ve thought about this before, but it seems like your mind is completely empty even though you’re taking everything in that’s happening around you. How the hell do you do it? I guess sounds are easier to hear when your mind is completely empty.” (disclaimer: this is my own personal translation of what he said since I feel like the translation in the episode didn’t really do the scene justice or convey what actually happened)
For me, this is significant because it proves that Chihaya is slowly on the path to realizing Taichi is an important person in her life.
In the following episode after the New Year’s Karuta Tournament and the Prince Takamatsu Memorial Cup, Taichi is at the forefront of Chihaya’s thoughts. She notices that he is simply going through the motions of playing karuta and his heart isn’t really in it and wants to ask him so many different questions: “Why did he enter the Prince Takamatsu Memorial Cup alone? How did his match go against Arata?” But she realizes she can’t ask him any of these things anymore, even though he’s so close to her.
Tumblr media
Even when the girls are making chocolates for the boys, Chihaya suddenly bursts into tears after they talk about how even Taichi would barf if he was given fermented squid on Valentines Day, despite how nice he is.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
In the end, it comes back to Chihaya wondering why Taichi always has to go off and do things on his own even though it’s more fun doing things with everyone else. The only difference here is that she wants him to smile. This is a big deal for Chihaya and another instance in which she has such a huge character development. Up to the this point, Chihaya has always been selfish and karuta is the only thing on her mind. The fact that she is completely distraught over how depressed Taichi is and how much he seems to be suffering alone proves that she’s finally thinking of someone else for once. She’s thinking of someone else’s feelings. The girl that only thinks about karuta is earnestly and wholeheartedly thinking about someone else and their happiness for a change. This isn’t the butterflies she gets when she remembers Arata’s confession or her desire to understand how Arata is able to play the way he is. She wants Taichi to smile. She wants Taichi to be happy and to not struggle so much and not suffer. THIS IS HUGE FOR CHIHAYA. Unfortunately, the girls’ Valentines plans are completely ruined by Chihaya’s father and Chihaya never gets to see Taichi smile on Valentines Day. However, this failure sets the stage for my next point.
After failing to get Taichi to smile on Valentines Day, Chihaya’s desire to make Taichi happy only grows and she becomes even more determined to make it happen no matter what. She ends up organizing a karuta tournament for Taichi on the day of his birthday. As she is organizing the tournament, she also asks Tsuboguchi-san to talk to Taichi about his match with Arata. This is also really significant because Chihaya is trying to help Taichi, even if she won’t know the details herself. Personally, I think she asks Tsuboguchi-san to talk to Taichi since she thinks it’ll help Taichi to talk to another guy about it. If all she wanted to do was ask Taichi about Arata, I think she would have done it herself. By not asking Taichi herself about his match with Arata and instead asking someone else to talk to him, Chihaya has demonstrated that what she truly wants is for Taichi to be happy again and to smile.
Tumblr media
Tsuboguchi-san’s comment in the last part of this scene just drives this point home, since 馬鹿だな in this context has the connotation that someone is being dense or an idiot. It’s clear to Tsuboguchi-san that Chihaya asked him to do this because she cares about Taichi and not because she wants to know more about Arata.
Sumire’s reaction to Taichi telling her he’s going to confess to Chihaya is another instance where Chihaya’s determination to make him happy is apparent. Sumire wanted to be pretty, because she liked Taichi, but she was wrong.
Sumire: ‘I wanted to be pretty. I wanted to be pretty, but I was wrong. Liking someone isn’t about making yourself pretty. Liking someone is insatiable, tenacious, and....’ (disclaimer: I think insatiable is a much better translation of 強欲 here because while you are being greedy in sense that you want more, this is more the fact that you want more because you are insatiable.) Chihaya: ‘I want to make Taichi happy!‘
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Just the timing in which Chihaya says that she wants to make Taichi happy is impeccable. Liking someone is essentially insatiable, tenacious, and wanting to make them happy. That’s why Sumire was wrong.
Lastly, just the fact that Chihaya organized an ENTIRE karuta tournament to celebrate Taichi’s birthday speaks for itself how much she cares about him and wants him to be happy. She invited and was in contact with everyone using a flip phone. That is extremely difficult and tedious since it takes so long to type everything out. This is already an unpleasant task in English, but in Japanese it’s just downright god awful.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
So after all of these events, it’s quite clear to the audience that Chihaya cares deeply for Taichi and likes him to some degree, even if she herself is not aware of her own feelings.
On to part two: the confession!

god everytime i watch an a3 song on youtube it ends up playing the Live preview  and i cant help but watch all 15mins everytime but man i also have
like
okay it got long bc i’m limiting my gushing on the trailer to this post, so under cut if you want to see me completely unhinged about seiyuu
1) Asanuma Shintaro (Itaru CV) is still so pretty and it’s still completely illegal and it reminds me how i legit got into a3 bc of him, Eguchi Takuya (Tenma CV) and Shirai Yusuke (Masumi CV) originally bc they’re Seiyuu i really like, but yeah, Asanuma has no rights looking that pretty and i’m still mad at his vocal range, knowing him as Samatoki from hypmic to start with
2) speaking of Asanuma gotta hand it to him that he always cosplay as his characters during lives, and while for a3 they all cosplay the plays they sing for, it’s still neat to see him come with ITARU’S HAIRCUT everytime
Tumblr media
LIKE SIR
(also may have a hysterical moment seeing Shirai and Asanuma on stage dancing alongside rabbits knowing that they’ll soon be on stage to fight for the next hypmic battle i’m going to go feral over this)
3) Completely hysterical over Asanuma singing Itaru’s song while turning his back to the public because he’s “playing video games”
Tumblr media
4) on a similar note i admire how Eguchi keeps dyeing his hair to match the character he’s playing in public appearance but i’m now therefore joining his group of fans who’s getting legitimly concerned about how often he dyes his hair
Tumblr media Tumblr media
(i think he currently has green hair, following him on twitter is just keeping up to date with “what color is he having today”)
5) Anyway this whole post is based on the fact that i react everytime i see Shunsuke Takeuchi (Juza CV) i end up captivated by his hair and i find him so pretty like good lord
Tumblr media
6) ALSO MAN  Shunichi Toki (Yuki CV) and Junta Terashima (Hisoka CV) also are kinda cute this is a Lot. Also so is Wataru Hatano (Chikage CV) but on this one i feel like the fact i have a huge ugly crush on his chara (that he’s cosplaying) and on his voice is not helping me be objective one second
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
7) BUT SERIOUSLY THO THE FULL COSPLAY WHEN THEY DO THEIR PLAY SONGS IM AAAAA
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
(sidenote on this one: holy shit Chikage’s “Damashite!” makes me feel Things i really developped a huge, bad crush on Chikage huh)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
8) HOMARE SONG CLAPS SO HAAARD I LOVE IT SOOO MUCCHHH
9) The Fact Hisoka’s solo’s preview is set right before Chikage’s, and that it cuts on the sentence “ Is what I'm seeing a "dream"? Or is it the "magic" someone has left cast on me?” (term used for magic being Mahou) and then directly cuts on Chikage’s “nanana”, but also, KNOWING that Chikage’s first play has him play a magician and so that his first play song is “ Usotsuki wa Mahou no Hajimari “ BECAUSE Hisoka’s song was forshadowing with the fact his memories were lost due to a “magic” that links him to Chikage and maybe i’m hyperventilating
10) The fact they PULL THIS AGAIN by having Azami song right before Sakyo??? god i thought it’d be more fun to watch the trailer now that i know all the songs so well but actually the trailer is a personal attack
11)  Yuuichi Jose (Sakyo CV)’s Sakyo’s cosplay are something else man, those hair!!!
Tumblr media
12) is anything ever going to top Asanuma and Shirai dancing the teapot surrounded by bunnies
Tumblr media
13) also i think we as a community needs to discuss the fact Autumn has the sexiest costumes
Tumblr media Tumblr media
(side notes add Chiharu Sawashiro (Banri’s CV) on the “VA pretty” list put earlier)
14) yeah this screenshot is definitly doing things to me, add Sawashiro to the list (honestly fitting considering how much i’ve crushed on his sister, Sawashiro Miyuki (Kurapika CV, Katalina CV ect))
Tumblr media
15) Kento Hama (Taichi CV)’s haircut is really IT too though like bRO THE UNDERCUT
Tumblr media
also wait actually he’s really super cute
Tumblr media
16) Admiring Kentaro Kumagai (Omi CV)’s commitment to Omi’s scar on this one
Tumblr media
17) yeah like, Shunsuke Takeuchi is rEALLY this pretty i’m. wow bro. dude.
Tumblr media
18) hang on, “Omi’s camera”, i’m just noticing NOW that Kentaro is the one holding it HOLD ON IM, HOLD ON
Tumblr media Tumblr media
19) also i’m just noticing that there’s none of Azuma’s songs in the preview so i’m assuming Tetsuya Kakihara couldn’t make it to the lives and somehow it makes me super sad *googles him a minute* especiallY since he would have ended on the “VA cute” list a bit above
IN CONCLUSION: a3 ruined my life, seiyuu cool, and this whole post was started in order to vent out the fact i REALLY find  Shunsuke Takeuchi extremely pretty and then i got lost in the fact i love a3 so much
and scene, gotta return to the anime

Welcome to the first day of Taiora Week 2020! This week, I am here to contribute to the celebration of my OTP. I am incredibly excited to be a part of this and I can’t wait to read what everyone else has for this week!!
Thank you for taking the time to read my fics. I do hope you enjoy them!
All of my prompt fills will be rated G to T. They will be seven separate Taiora stories; some will be friendship focused and some will have romance.
Setting: Pre-Digimon Adventure(1999)
Tag: Friendship
Notes: I wrote this scene for this prompt but it ended up not fitting; it went into mother-daughter territory but I wanted to share it!
HERE WE GO!
~*~*~*~*~
The sound of the coach’s whistle ended soccer practice, and the group of fifth graders dispersed from the field. Taichi wiped the sweat from his forehead with the back of his arm as he collected his breath from the practice match with his teammates. It was a challenging match that brought his competitive nature to the forefront, but the challenge made it fun for him.
Instead of helping his teammates clear out the field, he decided to rest for a few moments. No one had taken the goal post back to the club room yet, so he figured he would sit and lean against it for a while before he took it back himself.
His eyes fell on the soccer ball a few feet away from him - the ball which, moments earlier, he had attempted to block from the goal post he was leaning against. I’m not gonna let that happen at the match this weekend, he thought to himself.
But Taichi sat back up from slouching, and he wondered if the goal post was stable enough for his back. He didn’t have enough time to wonder, however, after the support behind him suddenly disappeared; his back thudded against the grass, and his eyes were suddenly staring at the clouds in the sky.
Bursts of laughter from nearby reached his ears. “Stop slacking, Yagami!” he heard one of his teammates yell.
“Hey!” Taichi yelled back as he watched two boys carry the goal post away.
“You had it coming, you know,” he heard from the opposite direction.
Taichi lifted himself up and leaned on his elbows to see the face of the voice that he recognized. The red-headed teammate had kicked the ball lightly in his direction, and he watched it roll slowly until it softly bounced at his thigh, which happened to be the same part of him that he used in his attempt to deflect the ball from reaching the goal.
“Are you mocking me, Sora?” he asked with slight amusement.
“A little bit,” Sora replied, giggling as she approached him. “Mind if I join you?”
“Not at all.”
What she said stung him a little, but he didn’t want to admit it in front of her. Not when a cool girl like her decided to lay back on the grass adjacent to him. Without another word, he lifted his elbows and rested his head against his palms to join her in watching the sky.
“This was how we met, wasn’t it?”
Taichi shot her a glance before laughing aloud. “Yeah! We were in soccer uniforms, but we were a lot shorter, too.”
“That’s right. It was my first day joining the team. I was so nervous. Somehow, I kicked my feet up, then I missed the ball and fell backwards.”
“Yeah, I remember.”
Taichi remembered that day. It was a sunny day after a night of heavy rain, so the lawn had spots of mud. He had watched Sora run toward the ball and swing her leg over muddy terrain which caused her to slip toward the ground. As the boys around him chorused into laughter, he wondered why she didn’t get up immediately, so he ran to her and reached for her hand to help her stand up.
“You were the only one who didn’t laugh at me. You helped me up instead. I felt a little bit braver after that.”
Since then, Sora became one of the best players on their team. As competitive as Taichi was, he wasn’t surprised that she maneuvered through his tactics to make the game-winning point from the day’s practice match.
What surprised him, however, was the fact that she felt the need to be brave back then.
“I didn’t know that was how you felt, Sora.”
“It was.”
“But you’re not as nervous now, are you?”
Sora chuckled. “Now that I know that I can win against you? Of course not.”
Another sting. “Gee, thanks.”
Sora lifted her arm up, opening up her hand as though she was reaching for something. Taichi watched with interest as she squinted her eyes and curled her fingers above her.
“Hey! You two!” came a sudden shout.
Both Taichi and Sora sprang up from laying down, finding the coach glaring at them with his arms across his chest.
“Why aren’t you two helping with the clean up?” the coach continued. “Don’t make me punish you with extra laps during the next practice!”
“Sorry, Coach,” Taichi said with Sora in unison.
Taichi was the first to stand up, and immediately held out his hand for Sora to hold.
“Up you go,” he said, and as she stood, Taichi noticed her suddenly looking the other direction. “Everything okay?”
“Um, it’s fine!” she said, seemingly flustered.
“What are you embarrassed about?”
“I said, it’s fine, Taichi!”
“Okay…”
After a few steps in silence towards the club room, Taichi had an idea.
“Hey, do you want to head to the conbini after for some snacks?”
“No, I can’t,” Sora replied immediately. “I have to head home. Mom’s orders.”
“Aww, come on - it’s on the way!”
“I’m sorry, Taichi.”
She fell quiet; although, this time, Taichi noticed the look on her face. There was no smile or light in her eyes; nor was there annoyance or embarrassment. She looked as though something was bothering her.
“Are you okay, Sora?”
“I’m fine.”
They reached the club room before Taichi could question Sora again, but he was met with high fives and hard smacks of greeting on his shoulders from the other teammates. And before he knew it, he was carrying a mountain of towels to drop into the laundry basket on the other end of the club room.
By the time the soccer club had cleaned up and Taichi dressed out of his practice wear, he approached the school gate, surprised to see Sora standing there. She was looking up at the sky again, where the clouds were just about to cover the rays of the sun.
There was a lot that Taichi didn’t know about Sora. The more he watched her, the more he wanted to know what went on in her head as she looked up with an expression that he couldn’t read. Was her mind as clear as a sunny sky, or was it as cloudy as the sky before them?
“Thundershowers,” Sora said the moment Taichi stood in front of her.
“What?” he said, confused.
“Aren’t they great? It looks like there might be one coming soon.”
“Ahh…” Taichi looked up. “Well, let’s hope it passes and dries up before our next practice so you don’t slip again.”
Sora furrowed her brows. “What makes you think I’ll slip?”
“Ha, don’t worry. You know I’ve got your back. I’ll even catch you before it happens-”
Suddenly, Taichi noticed Sora’s face turning red. He retraced the words he said causing him to feel the heat rising in his cheeks.
“Well… we’d better hurry to the conbini so that I can make it home on time, Taichi.”
Taichi looked at Sora in surprise. “Wait - you’re coming with me?”
“Unless I end up leaving you behind,” she retorted, already starting towards that direction.
A smile formed on his lips as she walked away. Sora confused him to no end, but there was something about her that made him want to know more about her. He broke into a sprint to catch up to her side, and at the same time, he remembered something that the other teammates were talking about earlier which caught his interest.
“So, did you hear about summer camp next month? It sounds really awesome…”
