here’s a Quinn thought… Quinn values his friend’s opinions about his girlfriend after he introduces her to the canucks for the first time

no cause he would be soooooo excited to get to the rink the next day and (not so) subtly slide you into his conversations to see what they thought of his sweet girl.

“so, speaking of new skates, y/n was so nervous last night to meet everyone, could you tell?”

“bro, that was such a good shot. and while we’re on the subject of shots, it sure was sweet of y/n to buy everyone a round last night, wasn’t it?”

“we’re gelling so nicely together this season! which reminds me, you know who else i feel like gels really nicely with everyone? y/n.”

and of course, everyone would have nothing but positive things to say about you, loving your bubbly personality.

quinn would let out a huge sigh of relief, his teammates’ opinion of you held to only a slightly lower standard than that of his family.

and when you show up at the rink later on in the practice, two massive trays of homemade cookies for the team ‘just because’, he knew it was because you really wanted to win them over, worried about your involvement with the team as the captain’s girl.

quinn simply stood by and watched with pride as the group of grown men dropped everything they were doing to run over to you, eyes fixated on the sugary treats as you handed them out like you were serving a group rowdy toddlers, knowing that the only thing you had to do to ‘earn’ their approval was just be yourself.

hmmm.... thoughts about composer!reader, whose pieces are always created for and featured in mr reca's films/projects.

people aren't sure when it first started, but in the release of one of his prior films was an ost. of course, it's not unusual to have music in such projects, but that one had felt... different, somehow — in the way its composition struck the chords of many, with billions across the cosmos instantly scouring for who made that piece.

it, of course, didn't take all that long when your name was featured in the credits. however there was barely any information aside from your name and credentials. (seriously, how could there not even be a single photo?!) no one knew what you looked like for quite a long time, only ever recognising your name and your music; even despite the numerous interviews, mr reca had never disclosed anything about you other than your talents. it came to a point where everyone believed they would never see your appearance.

well, until all hell broke loose during the annual intergalactic film awards, that is.

everyone already knew the drill — if mr reca had directed a film that year, it would undoubtedly win the adapted/original screenplay, cinematography, directing, production design, sound, music (original score and song), and film of the year awards, which also led to you winning both the music awards. usually, the composers would be the ones to collect said awards. however, the masses have become used to mr reca being the one to collect them on your behalf with thank you's also on your behalf.

that's how it's been ever since you made your mark in the universe, and so it really is understandable the uproar created by those in and out of attendance when the one who went collect the two awards wasn't the esteemed director, but a completely unfamiliar person; you.

you are definitely younger than they originally thought, having believed it must have been someone of a senior status of sorts to have consistently created such masterpieces. all eyes are trained on you as you step on stage and into the limelight for the first time, the light enhancing your features and formal attire when approaching the mic with a small flashcard in hand. your mouth opens, and the audience leans in with baited breaths as they await your first words.

...only for nothing to come out.

everyone watches a little dumbfounded as you try to talk once more but, aside from gaping like a fish, your efforts remain futile. it doesn't take long for you to clamp your mouth and eyes shut, even raising the awards in front of you in an attempt to shield your face from the crowd.

you... you were just really shy. or maybe a little...socially awkward, perhaps...? if this was the reason you never showed yourself, then they're beginning to understand why...

it passes in a blur — quite literally in that of brown. one moment you are alone on the stage, the next you have the presence of the renown director standing slightly in front of you, as though acting as a shield from the many prying eyes.

"apologies," he begins, his usual smile on display, "but my dearest composer has been suffering with a sore throat these past few days. on their behalf, we thank you all kindly for your support in our work."

and then he swiftly leaves with you tucked under and shielded by his coat, murmuring unreadable words to you as you both disappear backstage and leave everyone in a state of frenzy; to both those inside the ceremonial hall, and to those watching live elsewhere.

(it was only discovered after the awards ceremony concluded what the director had said to you, with the uploader being dubbed as a holy saint for their contributions to society. while the visual aspects of the video itself were not the clearest, barely anyone had it within themselves to complain when the audio was clear as crystal:

"and here i thought you were going to be brave and face your stage fright after all that pep-talk you gave yourself on the way here."

"i'm sorry... i really thought i could do it this time..."

"now, now, i'm merely teasing. you made a big step just making an appearance here today. i know how much courage this took for you, and i'm proud of you for facing it."

"really...?"

"but of course. i'm always proud of you, [name]. there is not a moment where i haven't been.")

(it also was not long until the cosmos was taken by storm when various pictures snapped during the awards ceremony spread. the millions of candids featuring you were one of the most liked and shared, with the top spot joined by the sequence of pictures taken of mr reca's soft expression when watching you onstage, into his realisation of your predicament, into him running onstage and shielding you from the cameras when making your way backstage.)

(...the drastic influx of fan accounts dedicated to both you alone and to you and reca should really be a studied phenomenon.)

i came across a video of that one trend from 2020/21 where you try to kiss your best friend for the first time and that's like ... so art donaldson coded. the two of you being really close and touchy with each other but never really thinking anything romantic of it, you were just so comfortable and safe in each other's presence and you never really thought about how other people might see it.

until a friend of yours pointed out how art stares at you whenever you're talking, his eyes full of admiration and the way his body leans towards you, giving you full attention. everybody can see how he acts like a puppy in love except you, until you saw it yourself. your friend's words echoed in your mind, making you too aware of how art acts around you.

now you're overthinking about how he might feel about you and vice versa, so your friend suggested you kiss him, out of nowhere. see how he responds and how you feel about it. what if it goes wrong? what if he doesn't want you to kiss him? "just set up a camera and if it goes badly, tell him it's for a stupid tiktok"

and maybe you were the stupid one for taking their advice, but you're here now. the two of you on the couch, art focused on his video game and you staring at the your phone that was propped up on the coffee table. you have nothing to lose, it's not like you're gonna end up losing your most valued friendship for a kiss and jumping to conclusions ...

with a sigh, you finally decide to just get on with it. calling out his name softly to catch his attention but his eyes remain glued to the screen infront of you, "hm?"

"can you look at me? i need to tell you something" your play with your fingers nervously on your lap.

he stays silent for a few seconds, only the sounds of him fidgeting with the controller can be heard. "can it wait, angel? i'm nearly done here"

and you almost agreed, but then you're going to have to hype yourself up all over again just to get it over with. so without warning, you grab his face with your hands and pull him closer towards you, placing your lips against chapped ones. your eyes were closed shut and you were stiff against him, you're certain his eyes are wide open in shock. you pull away after a few seconds, a soft smack filling the awkward air.

the eye contact that followed felt like hell, you can feel your face getting hot and red while art looked like he just saw a ghost.

"i– uh, i'm sorry that was for–" before you can even point at your phone, he drops the controller and grabs your waist, almost pushing you down on the sofa as he reconnects your lips once more. his lips now softer and the kiss tender, your fingers finding its own way through his blonde curls.

he rests his forehead against yours once he pulled away, the two of you catching your breath before bursting into laughter. "i think we're gonna have to keep doing that more often"

it's morning and you're working on something at your desk when your little one quietly shuffles into the room, looking for you. "Good morning, angel. Did you sleep well?" You spin around in your chair as they come up to you.

quietly, your baby whines and lifts their arms up. "Are you feeling too little for words this morning?" You smile. "You wanna sit with me until you wake up a little more? Mommy just has to finish this really quickly and then we can have something yummy for breakfast."

you easily lift them into your lap and they immediately latch onto you, gently resting their head on your shoulder while you went back to finishing your work.

So i remember an ask mentioning your mortal enemy, Felis Atra and their cats, and i thought it'd be fun to draw what Felis Atra's version of your italian dogs would be.

I think they would be called Butter Knife and Flamengo! Butter Knife is not his real name, it's an nickname given by his peers because of how harmless he is. I choose Flamengo because that's the name of Vasco's rival football team here in Brazil, so i thought that was the perfect name :)

Cat Machete was slightly inspired by the Oriental Shorthair cat because of their long noses and thin head shape.

Cat Vasco was inspired by the Scottish Fold cat, because FLOPPY EARS. I gave Flamengo longer ears and orange fur to make him more like his look-alike.

The last doodle is a reference to this ask (https://canisalbus.tumblr.com/post/728923918314946560/me-i-am-machete-ear-fan-number-1-those-ears) and contains the tumblr ask stand-in dog, whose cat version was inspired by the American Curl cat! They have round ears that are slightly floppy outwards.

Final notes: I know cardinal clothes don't come in vibrant blue, but i was ADAMANT on switching Machete's and Vasco's clothing color patterns. I would draw the rest of Butter Knife's and Flamengo's clothes, but i suck at designing cool outfits.

Speaking of outfits, for Machete's iconic void outfit, i figured it would be fun to make it more baggy for Butter Knife, in contrast to Machete's, that looks very tight-fitted. I think it's cute, it kinda looks like a sweater. Also i can't imagine a Machete doppelganger without high heels boots, so those HAD to stay.

Oh, and just to be clear, i'm not like, claiming ownership of these guys or anything. I just thought it would be a fun exercise. Hope you like them!! I love your art and your characters.
