Right so.
I thought a little too hard and may have a fic plot.
Hellhound Charles who works for the afterlife. His job is to track down lost/missing souls. Edwin who's just escaped Hell and is definitely missing. Monty, who, as bird afterlife lore goes, collects souls and guides them to their afterlife.
Anyway, basically: Charles tracks down Edwin and alerts the afterlife, Monty comes to collect him, and wait- this guy can't possibly be assigned to Hell. Edwin tells them he shouldn't be. He was sacrificed and that's not fair, is it? So Charles and Monty decide they can't let the afterlife take him back. And then they kiss
