Don't Care for an Old Man's Underwear! Ep 8 Stray Thoughts
As always, this watch was made possible by @isaksbestpillow
Last time, Kakeru revealed to Mika and Moe that he wants to go to a premier makeup school, and will finish high school to make sure he qualifies. He had a good conversation with Hasegawa after being asked if he was gay, revealing that he sometimes finds either men or women admirable in their own ways but as yet has not felt love. Hasegawa expressed his admiration for Kakeru for never playing along with boy talk that also makes him uncomfortable. Kakeru also managed to form a new friendship with his rival. Makoto is struggling at work to keep his misogynistic senior from pissing off everyone, and it seems like Haranishi suppressed him with his bra for now. Makoto also unfortunately thought Kakeru was seeing two people and put his foot in his mouth again trying to be supportive. However, he did help Daichi by reassuring him that Madoka choosing him is also a valid choice, even as we all worry about Madoka giving up on being a vet to dodge his family's disappointment. Not to be forgotten, Makoto insisted that Mika enjoy the tickets they got for her.
I like how much easier the friendship between Daichi and Makoto feels at this point. Saying they help each other feels genuine.
Oh no. Is Daichi avoiding Madoka?
Looking forward to seeing more rude men at Makoto's job!
I love that Daichi doesn't lie to Kakeru about reaching out at Makoto's request.
Kakeru admitting that he took out his frustrations on his parents feels like an important step for him.
Oh no. Daichi is pulling back from Madoka, and now he's going to think Daichi is trying to get with Kakeru because Kakeru is so cute.
Hold on, I'm suddenly invested in Furuike trying to use the contacts he's built up across his career in a digital age that cuts down on human interactions.
Ah, Furuike knows the engineer who designed the copier and is trying to protect his reputation. He's also got little left in his life besides his idea of work and the efforts they made before, so he's trying to validate that their way of doing things wasn't completely wrong. Look at this show giving this unpleasant man recognizable humanity.
Okay, I was touched by the two old guys solving a problem together.
Also feels significant that Kakeru wanted to wait to talk to Makoto.
Aw, they get to bond over having similar troubles navigating human interactions.
"I respect your grit and perseverance. In order for them not to go to waste, would you please change with me?" is basically the plea the show is making to the masculine audience.
Not me crying because this old man made tea.
Kakeru teasing about never hearing his dad complain before also feels like a moment. I wonder if we'll return to Kakeru's comment about not being an adult.
Why do both Okita men blush the same way? Lol
For saying he stumbles constantly, Makoto recognized that Kakeru didn't tell him what he really wanted from that booth.
Oh, Kakeru. Once again this show hitting queer notes left behind in romance all the time. It's easy to resent people for not being able to understand you, but that's just hiding the loneliness and disappointment you feel at not being able to connect with them, too. Kakeru admitting that he's feeling sad that he can't be the son he wanted because his father is actively trying to be a father Kakeru can love and respect got me.
As always, Daichi doesn't tell Kakeru what to think, and reaffirms that Kakeru always has a choice in how to engage with the world.
Dammit, they got me again. Madoka explaining to Makoto how hard it is to tell your parents important things about yourself because of the huge stakes, and then trying to accept being dumped, is making my chest clench.
Oh, Makoto, finally your over sharing tendencies pay off.
Wow, this man is so tall that he could see Daichi over the crowd.
Ugly crying about Kakeru and Makoto talking out the baseball thing at the festival, and then Kakeru asking his dad to teach him how to use the pop gun to get what he wants for himself.
He let his dad put the necklace on him!
Daichi and Madoka are holding hands in public!
Well well well, Kakeru still has to face the boys on the baseball team.
This has quickly become one of my favorite shows of all time. She wasn't in this episode a lot, but Mika continues to be one of my favorites because of her instincts. She could tell that Kakeru wanted to face Makoto properly, so she makes sure to check in with him first before hovering to see that they're okay. She then later insists on sending Makoto to the festival in a yukata with Kakeru because she knows they need to do that together. If she doesn't insist on Makoto going and dressing up, he doesn't have that conversation with Madoka, and he doesn't make progress with Kakeru at the booth. She helped four men with her kindness and determination, and enabled her daughter to support her brother while also receiving validation about her hobby from her dad.
Makoto has come so far. I really loved him supporting his senior through the resolution of that work problem, and still telling him that his attitude was wrong. I also liked that he also got corrected by Shimura afterwards, who insists that he use respectful honorifics for her. He's finally earned the confidence of his team by being the leader they need him to be.
This show is excellent, and I've not cried this much watching a show in a long time.

Poltergeist - Garbage Heap Sketch 6
Author: Akira
Characters: Madara, Natsume, Tsumugi, Arashi
Translator: Mika Enstars
Proofer: Revoltrad
"It really was the worst! It was straight out of a horror movie!"
[Read on my blog for the best viewing experience with Oi~ssu ♪]
Season: Winter
Location: Maizuru House (Changing Room)
About an hour later, inside the Maizuru House’s large public bath’s changing room
Arashi: I can’t do this anymore…!
What happened to bonds between people! To humanism! To cute kids giggling around a flower garden!
This is no place for that so-called emotional drama! This place is a den of ill-disciplined little brats…!
Madara: Now now, calm down a little, Arashi-san. ♪
Natsume: FuFU… That's rigHT, these are the children that we are supposed to be loving and cherishing as nursery teachers right nOW.
Of courSE, there aren’t any cameras in the changing roOM, but stay true to your roLE, at least outside of this roOM—A kind nursery teachER, always with a smile on their faCE. ♪
Tsumugi: That’s right~, we just got massive amounts of paint dumped on us the moment we met the children, that’s all—
Arashi: Right! As we excitedly headed to the auditorium where the children were waiting, suddenly a massive amount of paint was dumped on us from above with a huge splaaash!
It really was the worst! It was straight out of a horror movie!
Look, all our brand new clothes are all dried stiff now thanks to it! We’re lucky that they had spare uniforms for us!
I was really looking forward to this, so the shock’s really getting to me! I think I need to lay down!
Madara: Hahaha, looks like we weren’t welcomed at aaall by the children at the Maizuru House!
Tsumugi: Yup. We were told we were going to be welcomed by the children singing and dancing, but what we actually got was ridicule, abuse, and a lot of paint!
Madara: Those children all said some nasty things too, didn’t theeey? “Get out!”, “Leave!”, “Die!”, and the like.
Arashi: Why? Why is it that we’re so hated?! This is our first time meeting those kids, right?
Tsumugi: Hmm. Rather than them hating us, those children might just hate adults in general.
Madara: What makes you say that?
Tsumugi: There were other staff members in the auditorium, but they all looked thoroughly exhausted.
A lot of them had dark circles under their eyes, or bandages as if they were hurt.
Arashi: Y-You’re right. We got there before most of the mamas, and most of the staff we saw were generally not in good spirits.
That, and it kind of seemed like they were looking at us with pity?
Madara: I see. I wonder if those staff members and the other adults have been getting bombarded with attacks like what we had juuust experienced.
Arashi: So they looked at us with sympathy for having just faced the same fate as them?
Natsume: FuFU, this is getting fUN. This place doesn’t appear to be the heartwarming workplace we had imagined it to bE.
Arashi: Hey, is it okay if I leave? My heart has been shattered right at the start, I just want to go home!
Natsume: WeLL, Mikejima-senpai is the leading role this time arouND, so if you really can’t do thIS, then it’s fiNE.
Madara: Hahaha, I thought it was against the way of the samurai to flee before an enemy?
Arashi: Well I can, because I’m a knight, not a samurai!
Tsumugi: They’re not enemies in the first place~, these are children here at the facility!
We’ve been thrown off by something pretty unexpected, but… We’re here to work as nursery teachers, that much hasn’t changed.
And for that purpose, it’ll be necessary to try to get along with them enough to have a decent conversation. That’s typically the prerequisite for doing this sort of work.
Madara: Hahaha, unlike Arashi-san, Tsumugi-san is completely unfazed, how reliaaable!
Natsume: Doesn’t he just lack sensitiviTY?
Tsumugi: Even that can come in handy~! ♪
However, I know they may seem a bit extreme, but basically these children just aren’t the “innocent little angels” most people would typically expect them to be.
If you’re intimidated by this much, then you might simply not be cut out to be a nursery teacher.
Madara: There’s a rocky road ahead, maybe even a bit toooo much so… What will happen to us from here on out?

Note:hello! Freaking love this idea, I really love fischl because of her outfit and personality.Sry if this took so long, I only write when ideas come to me. Anyways hope you enjoy @glazeflower 🌼
• Shu loves your fashion ever since he met you. So let's talk about how he met you.
• You were a new student in Yumenosaki much to your disappointment you weren't allowed to wear your desired fluffy dresses but you still try to add small elements of your fashion into your outfit. Like wearing long, black socks with some ruffles at the ends, or wearing a black choker with a lacy pattern and ribbons attached to it.
• Shu is usually very busy making idol outfits so he doesn't have a lot of time wandering around. With this, Mika is probably the one that told Shu about you and your weird behavior. Shu first just shrug it off thinking it's just another new student, nothing new. That's until when he first saw you, it was only a glance but it made him change his whole perspective of you.
• Was it the dark makeup, or the ruffle collar, or was it cute headband that attracts him. He didn't know but what he do know is that he is enamoured by you. Before actually meeting you he would ask people that are close to you what were you like.
• He would actually practice what to say before talking to you(my boi is nervous). The conversation went well, he managed to befriend you since both of you literally speak the same manner that confuse people.
• Its gonna take a while until he start to come around his feelings with you. Would be too shy to confess, so he would just stay beside you in fear that someone might try to seduce you.
• He would definitely make your outfits for you, why wouldn't he, he is one of best tailor in Yumenosaki. He is kinda familiar with the style and knows how to work his way around the ruffles. Being the perfectionist he is, he would literally take about a week to just have the design drawn. You gotta remind him to take a break sometimes or else he might overwork himself.
• He pays close attention when you're applying your makeup and would literally take down notes on what range of colours you use for your eyes. He does this so next time he could apply them for you, with your permission of course.
• Would ask for your thoughts when creating an outfit design since you're delusional, you creativity is beyond imagination. You would give a whole essay of description and he pay full attention to your thoughts.
• Would ask you out on a date and he be like
"Would your royal highness like to dine with me for dinner?"
"Hmph! If my royal subjects do so insists, then it wouldn't hurt to go. Your royal princess has accepted your request!"
" I would forever be grateful for this opportunity you have given me your highness, I will not let you down. Thank you milady,"
You would extend your hand and he would gently take it and kiss it.
The other idols probably look at you guys like a bunch of freaks lol.
• He acts awfully nice to you, even Mika notices it. He got kinda jealous(my poor bby) would try to get along with you and realize how both of you are together. When he accidently called you by your name instead of 'your royal highness' he would get a scolding from Shu. He's about to cry when you give him an approval for being near to you. Spends more time with you because you are together with Shu. Likes to play with the ruffles and ribbons when you wear a dress.
• After graduating, Shu eventually confess to you and requested to be your boyfriend. Blushing you would obviously accept it with the most confusing essay of words. After you accepted, he would be the most clingiest and easily jealoused boyfriend ever. From time to time you need to assure him that you still loves him with all your heart.
• Your morning routine will be you holding two puffy dresses up to your chest, asking him which should you wear today and him doing your makeup while he too prepares himself for the day. Helps you with your hair, he would hand you the ribbons or help you place it if you requested for his help.

The obsession
⚠️TW OBSESSIVE BEHAVIOR STALKING POSSESSIVE BEHAVIOR STOCKHOLM SYNDROME MANIPULATION ABUSIVE BEHAVIOR AND DRUGGING DO NOT DO ANY OF THIS ITS NOT HEALTHY ⚠️
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
Honestly moth just debated whether or not to go to the cafe today. They were tired, annoyed and still reeling after the news. They still didn't know who to believe so they decided to man up a little bit and get ready to go to the cafe. It has been tradition every Saturday that they would go to this little cafe in order to get their drink and favorite cookie. They got up and got on their favorite outfit: a fishnet undershirt, a purple shirt with a small cut where the chest was supposed to be denim pants and some platforms that brought them up to 5'5. To be honest they only started dressing like this to scare off what they assumed was a stalker but then they fell in love with the fashion and continued dressing like this honestly they felt more confident and happy. Normally they wouldn't feel this confidence but they do. Just in case they grabbed a sweatshirt they know how weird the weather can be where they live so they had to take precautions.
They started walking all the way to the cafe since it was a pretty short walk only 10 minutes so might as well get some exercise in. Since it really isn't boxing season yet they had to get some exercise in. They walked along the sidewalk until they finally got to their favorite Cafe place. It was a small town where everyone knew everyone so their order was practically ready as they walked in. They smile looking around at everyone, noticing some regulars and Irregulars. Finally, recognizing someone's very cute outfit they instantly recognized her " Mika Star as I live and breathe how have you been" Mika turned around and smiled "Moth! I'm doing great what about you"
Moth smiled getting in line with Mika " better than a few months ago" Mika nodded but there is still a question that was itching her brain "... so how are your feelings about Joe right now" moth Paws for a few seconds before shrugging " I'm pretty conflicted I do really like him but I don't know who to believe I'm really good friends with Bates and he says that Joe is just like Paparazzi well Joe thinks this is creepy I'm just confused" Mika looked away and thought back to when Joe was alone with Moth he seemed….
U n s t a b l e
She quickly shook it off and went back to talking to moth, quickly changing the subject " so you dyed your hair again!" Moth smiled happy that someone noticed the new color they decided " oh yeah I was surprised that I didn't pick purple the first time since it's my favorite color but I decided to go with a simple color at first but now I decided to go with purple I might dye the ends of my hair next time"
" Maybe I can help?"
"Hell yea!"
Moth smiled before turning around feeling like someone was watching them only seeing a weird figure with a hood and sunglasses on they couldn't really tell but the person's hair seemed to be sticking out almost like it was styled in that way and the color of the hair seemed to be orange. They didn't want to think about it; they were just hoping that their stalker wasn't back. It just seemed weird after the news that they were on edge. They may be a little oblivious and on the Dixie side but they're smart to some extent.
" Hey Moth, I can take your order!"
"OK, coming dad!" They immediately walked over to their dad smiling at the fact that their dad finally got a job that he somewhat enjoyed. " okay Little Rock Star the usual caramel frappuccino with extra caramel and a shot of chocolate sauce and a chocolate chip cookie?" Moths smiled almost immediately widened " you know me too well pops"
" Little Rock Star you order the same thing every time"
They both laughed before Anton handed them their number moth sat down at their usual table and pulled out their phone and started playing some games. Mostly for them to be distracted but this time they saw someone start to walk up to them they didn't recognize this person but they might as well get ready to talk to them as this person. As they were getting closer moth noticed it was Joseph. Their faces immediately flushed up and they looked up at him as he put down his hood he smiled " bonjour can I sit here?" Moth for getting everything that had happened instantly nodded and their face immediately turned bright red as did his face but it seemed like he was covering up his mouth it seemed like he was smiling so wide his jaw would come off. There were a few moments of Silence before moth heard their number and quickly got up shooood good get that!" They immediately did finger guns before turning around and slapping themselves in the face. They grab their coffee and their cookies and sit down by Joe, still embarrassed by the idiocy that they did. Again there was a long pause. It was a little creepy but they didn't really care. Joe kind of cleared his throat and smiled " I'm doing our project and I'm taking pictures of beautiful and unique things. I was wondering if you want to be my human part of the segment?"
Moth almost immediately turned bright red. " You think I'm beautiful and unique?"
This was almost like a dream they felt so happy that they could die " I think that you're quite beautiful" moth smiles and immediately nodded allowing him to take a few pictures they couldn't see it at the time but it seemed like he was drooling and his stare was almost like a predator. But it seemed like their happiness was drowning out everything. Joe took a bunch of pictures he only stopped when he felt like it was necessary. He looked down going through all the photos that he took. They were all so beautiful. He looked up at his model and noticed that they were drinking something sweet. He usually got something bitter at this Cafe but they liked their coffee sweet. It seemed like he was taking a mental note of this situation. He finally stepped up from the table and smiled " thank you very much for being my model" he said before walking away smiling wide.
He took a mental note of the situation they were oblivious to that was almost too perfect although he loved them he had to admit they were bit of an idiot. He continued scanning through the photos before he got up to his door and smiled. He walked up to his room and placed camera down on a little podium before he turned around and placed something down in what seems to be a shrine of some sort; he seemed to have thousands, maybe Millions of moths. I love the things were really affordable some boxing figures that the wvba held shirts Etc but some were interesting he smiled picking up one of the many things that he took from their room it seemed to be an old shirt warm it was used you didn't care about the context of what he did he didn't care if it was considered creepy. This was true love and he knew he was always the romantic type. He just wanted little bits and pieces of them whenever they were away it physically hurt him whenever he had to see them go. He just loves them too much.
He picked up his camera again and walked over to his computer plugging in his camera and hooking it up to his printer he started printing out the pictures he was way too happy about this it was all too perfect of course they liked him who didn't he was perfect they were perfect they would be the perfect couple and no one would get in their way. And he would make sure of it; he just needed to think of a way that wasn't getting his hands dirty. But what wouldn't get his hands dirty he couldn't simply just kill them he had to get rid of them they were disgusting competition they were always fighting for their attention when it should be all on him he continued to think until he thought of an idea.
As the pictures were loading he thought to himself how could he be so dumb normally he's not like this but this idea was brilliant. No one would even suspect it's him. It was almost too perfect.
" what's more clean than a suicide!"
He truly was a genius. He needs to give himself more credit. Of course he would think of this brilliant idea who else but Joseph Blanchet. He should have himself more credit; he was truly a smart man and he knew it. He continued to watch the photos printed before he took out one that was a very close up of mom's face. They were smiling and they were looking at him and only him. He couldn't help himself but he kissed the picture. It was almost like it was them but he wished he could have kissed them in real life. He knows how silky smooth those lips are and how sweet they must have tasted. How they would squirm beneath him, how he Towers over them. How he could simply just kill them if he wanted to.
He quickly snapped himself out of it; he could never kill them. They were too precious to perfect. He needed them to be his perfect wife who else but moth moth was too perfect for everyone else but just perfect for him.
But still the idea of hurting them excited him although he hates you admit it he liked hurting people. He was a bit of a sadist and it showed whenever he would box he would purposely be violent and that unfortunately resulted in the death of a useless boxer. He was nothing but scum to be honest he talked to moth flirted with them and he got rid of competition although this resulted in termination of a contract with the wbva he was able to sweet talk his way into keeping his locker. He was smart and he knew it he truly didn't care though everyone was useless unless they were proven to be useful.
And he will use useful people until they are useless.
He smiled, finally pinning the poster to a cork board there was a collage of pictures. It was almost perfect, the one thing it was missing.
Was them.
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .

With Teeth Chapter 3
((click here to read on ao3!!))
“Is that man coming by here again?”
Izaya pauses in his typing, sparing a glance at Namie, who is staring at him from her side of the desk. She looks bored, but that's nothing new. She hides her emotions well. It's one reason he can tolerate her, despite her unpleasant personality and obsession with her brother. She's fun, hard to predict. She's a challenge.
“What man?” Izaya asks, knowing full well what she means. She scoffs at him, and he grins at her. “You'll have to be more specific.”
“That one. The one you're obsessed with. Heiwajima. He's been coming by here every month around this time, skulking and making rude comments. This will be the seventh month, right?”
“Observant, aren't you?” Izaya asks, turning back to his typing. “I can't predict what Shizu-chan does, you know that. He does what he wants.”
“Yeah, but there's a pattern now. People like him don't normally have patterns, do they?” Namie tilts her head at him, something other women might do to seem cute. With Namie, it's always a disarming tactic, something she does to seem smaller when she's actually a power player. Izaya is used to her by now, even without reading her mind.
“That's part of what makes him so unpredictable. He's random until he isn't, and then he breaks his pattern when you least expect.” Izaya waves her away. “Ask what you want to ask, and stop with the games. We're both busy people.”
“You've got something on him, right? You're blackmailing him? It has to be something like that. He wants you dead even more than I do, and that's saying a lot. There's no way he'd suffer in your company more than he had to.”
“Whatever I do or don't have on Shizu-chan is between him and me. That makes it none of your business, Namie-chan! Unfortunate for you, but true all the same.”
“Are you guys fucking or something?” she asks, and she shrugs at the look Izaya gives her. “What? There's not much else you'd keep secret. If he gave you something actually juicy, you'd be holding it over his head much worse than this. Unless you had something to lose too, you wouldn't care what happened to him.”
“You are the definition of an 'over-thinker',” Izaya informs her. “Sometimes things are what they are, and nothing more.” Almost on cue, a thundering knock raps at the door, and Izaya motions for Namie to get it. “Who knows who that could be! Look professional, would you? We're running a business, here.”
“Yeah, I'm so curious who it is,” Namie says sarcastically, wrenching the door open to reveal a grumpy-looking Shizuo. He doesn't bother greeting her, just steps around her as he stomps into Izaya's apartment.
“Shizu-chan, what a surprise!” Izaya calls. “Terrible to see you, as always.”
“Fuck off and die, flea,” Shizuo says, heading straight for Izaya's fridge. Namie watches him for a moment, and then she turns back to Izaya.
“Shall I leave you to your fornication?” she asks.
“Oh, I don't know,” Izaya muses. “You're pretty, Namie-chan, when I don't have to look at your face. Maybe you could join us for the evening.”
“I'd rather be eaten alive, thanks.”
“More like you have plans already to stalk that brother of yours. Don't bother; he's having a date night at with Mika-chan at your favorite Italian place! He made reservations yesterday.” Izaya tilts forward, smirking at her as her face reddens with rage. “Run along, won't you? Who knows what they might do for dessert?”
Rather than retort, she picks up a folder from Izaya's desk and throws it as hard as she can. The papers fly out, flowing through the air like confetti, and she slams the door behind her hard enough to make even Shizuo flinch.
“Fuck. What's her problem?” Shizuo asks.
“Lots of things. She has more problems than most,” Izaya says, going back to his typing. He makes a mental note of the fact that Shizuo went straight for the pork tenderloin Namie prepared the day before, and then he looks up at his expected guest. “How's the bloodlust?”
“Same as it always is. Too fucking much,” Shizuo replies, already chomping away on cold leftovers. He never bothers with reheating them, anymore.
“And yet, you haven't bitten anyone. It seems you either have more self-control than I ever would've guessed, or you're exaggerating your symptoms.”
“Yeah, yeah,” Shizuo says, and he flops onto Izaya's couch, giving Izaya a scrutinizing stare. “Does your secretary not know you're a witch?”
“Of course she doesn't,” Izaya replies. “Why would she?”
“She practically lives here.”
“She works here, Shizu-chan. This is an office, first and foremost.”
“Funny. I thought it was your apartment.” Shizuo takes another bite of food, his cheeks bulging almost comically with the amount he's eating all at once. When he speaks again, it's with his mouth full. “Even your place is a front. No one knows anything about you, huh?”
Izaya gives him a withering stare, grimacing at the grotesque way Shizuo eats.
“You're awfully conversational today. Why the sudden interest in my life? Usually you just barge in here, eat my food, and sit in silence until you're the true monster you've always been.”
“I guess I'm just curious about the way you do shit. Shinra told me all about how rare it is, what you are. He said you're probably keeping my secret so I'll keep yours,” Shizuo says. He finishes the last of the container of pork tenderloin, and then he goes back to the fridge.
“By all means, tell everyone what you know about me. The people who don't immediately run screaming from you will hardly care. I've been called terrible things, and for good reason. Calling me a witch in public will hardly matter.” Izaya turns back to his screen.
“Got no reason to tell anyone about you. I don't give a shit what you are.”
“Wonderful.”
There's silence for a bit, the sound of Shizuo chewing, of Izaya's fingers clacking against the keyboard. Izaya spares a glance up at Shizuo, who seems to be thinking about something, his brows furrowed. Curious in spite of himself, Izaya can't help but dip into Shizuo's mind. He snorts, and it draws Shizuo's attention.
“If you wanted to go to Shinra's place for this, you should have,” Izaya says. Shizuo snarls at him.
“Don't fucking read my mind.”
“Then stop thinking so loudly.”
“You said you didn't read minds often!”
“And you said that was a lie.”
Shizuo growls, his mind going to static as he considers throwing Izaya's entire counter out the window. Truth be told, Izaya wasn't lying when he said he doesn't try to read minds very often. It would be helpful for him in his line of work, but he was always more interested in doing the work himself. It was more fun, more challenging, easier to convince himself he didn't need his magic to be as powerful as he was.
“I hate you,” Shizuo hisses. It's the truth, Izaya can sense. Shizuo hates everything about this, being here, relying on Izaya, speaking to Izaya, smelling Izaya's scent all around him. Like this, Shizuo's mind is so loud and consumed with rage that Izaya pulls back, unwilling to listen to all that incessant noise and clatter.
“So go to Shinra's, then.”
Shizuo doesn't respond, but he doesn't need to. Izaya doesn't even need to read the beast's mind to know what he's thinking. Shizuo doesn't want to be seen that way by anyone he actually cares about. Izaya doesn't count in Shizuo's simple mind.
Of course it would be something like that.
Izaya pushes it from his mind. He's always loved seeing the worst aspects of other people, seeing them at their lowest, their breaking points, and choosing to love them anyway. Part of what makes Izaya able to love mankind as a whole is being there when they break, observing them as they either pick up the pieces or destroy others as they have been destroyed. It doesn't matter how it happens, whether Izaya has to cause it himself, or not. Their choices are their own.
Even in Shizuo's case, he's choosing to come here, to rely on Izaya, to trust in Izaya to help him remain himself.
“What are you smiling about over there?” Shizuo barks, snapping Izaya from his reverie.
“Oh, nothing,” Izaya lilts.
Creepy fucker. Shizuo thinks it, so clearly it seems almost direct, as if he wanted Izaya to hear it. Knowing him, it's more than likely. Shizuo doesn't censor his thoughts or his words, after all, and he's never been afraid to tell Izaya what he really thinks.
Seemingly content with the amount he ate, Shizuo sits back on the couch, his legs bouncing in nervous anticipation. He's always filled with anxiety on nights of the full moon, and Izaya can't exactly blame him. Even if Shizuo has a higher pain tolerance than most, the transformation is still incredibly painful, and Shizuo worries about keeping his sanity more than anything else. He's terrified of hurting someone, anyone, even Izaya, and he finds comfort in the fact that Izaya would never let him get close enough to actually hurt him.
Sometimes Shizuo is so human it's sickening.
***
The first time Izaya was consciously aware he was dealing with a dangerous, inhuman creature, he was in middle school.
Tsukumoya Shinichi found Izaya first, of course, an incredibly tame bloodsucker, but an irritating one all the same. He was Izaya's first official client that wasn't a desperate spirit, and he also had the annoying habit of popping up out of nowhere, eager to poke and prod at Izaya like a test subject, much like Shinra, but much, much more adept at getting under Izaya's skin. Izaya was just beginning in his potion-making back then, and Tsukumoya was enthusiastic about needing to feed less. A fellow lover of humans, it had been a long time since Tsukumoya had taken a life. He knew the right amount to drink, but he also had the habit of getting lost in his work, forgetting to feed, and always risked taking too much from the first victim after a period of accidental starvation.
“That's where you'll come in. You could have an entire market of potions for those like me, those that don't want to hurt anyone in the world of the living,” Tsukumoya explained. He had popped up out of nowhere again, met Izaya on his walk home. The sun was freshly set, and Izaya was walking home from Shinra's, enjoying the rare break of caring for the toddlers since his parents were home.
“Isn't making a potion as simple as reading a recipe?” Izaya asked, already irritated by the vampire's presence. “Couldn't you do it yourself?”
“I could,” Tsukumoya said, “but it would only be a drink at that point. I'm not a witch. There would be no magic in it.”
“How fortunate for me,” Izaya said, his voice dripping with sarcasm. Tsukumoya merely laughed at him, as he always did. The vampire seemed to view Izaya as a trinket of sorts, the kind of thing one might pick up on a whim, and then keep for a long time.
“Just think about it, would you? There aren't many options in this world, or the next. Witches are few and far between, as you're aware,” Tsukumoya said. “It's been centuries since I met one as powerful as you.”
“So you've said before,” Izaya replied.
They walked in silence for a while, Tsukumoya still grinning like he was thoroughly enjoying himself, and Izaya with a small frown on his face, irritated by the fact that between Tsukumoya, Shinra, and the twins, he was always having someone trail after him. They were passing by an alleyway when Izaya's body screamed at him to RUN and NOW. He felt the pinpricks of danger along his skin, but he was rooted to the spot, too curious for his own good.
“Stay back,” Tsukumoya said, his voice calm, but tight. “That one's pretty strong.”
“What is it?” Izaya asked, straining to see through the darkness of the alley. He could see a figure, huge and looming, but he couldn't make out any details. As if in answer, a ferocious growl sounded, and Izaya was bombarded with the ugliest thoughts he ever heard in his life.
Kill, kill, blood, bite, KILL, KILL, KILL—
Izaya pulled back with disgust, and his sudden movement seemed to trigger the creature, who lunged forward. Tsukumoya yanked Izaya out of the way, too fast for Izaya to truly follow, and then Izaya got a full look at what was after him.
The creature was massive, covered in patches of thick, course fur. It had glowing eyes filled with madness, singularly focused on Izaya, the same thoughts running through its head. Teeth, sharp, jagged teeth, were in the creature's gaping maw, too large to truly fit.
“Werewolf,” Izaya said aloud, as fascinated as he was on edge.
“Yeah,” Tsukumoya answered, “and we interrupted his meal.”
Only then did Izaya notice the blood all over the creature, the viscera under its claws and in between its teeth. He inhaled sharply, and the creature lunged again. It seemed to be all Tsukumoya could do to dodge it.
“You shouldn't be out walking on nights of the full moon!” Tsukumoya said through clenched teeth, throwing Izaya over his shoulder as he ran up the side of the building, the wolf hot on his heels. “Haven't you read enough to know what's out here by now?”
Izaya had. He knew what was out here, knew the risk, but he didn't care enough to stay safe indoors. He couldn't bring himself to regret his decision, not when he could see firsthand what a werewolf could truly do. He propped himself on his elbows to watch the werewolf from over Tsukumoya's shoulder, and his stomach felt like it was dropping to his feet when the vampire detached from the building, free-falling in a careful spiral towards the ground.
The wolf fell after them, still only thinking the same thoughts as before, and Izaya didn't know what Tsukumoya's plan was, didn't wait to find out. He gripped his hand, and the wolf seized, a confused yelp leaving it as its arms and legs snapped to its sides, sending its body careening into a crumpled heap on the hard concrete. Tsukumoya wasn't breathing heavily, not the way he should've been after such physicality, but Izaya reminded himself that for as human as Tsukumoya seemed, he wasn't, and he had no need to breathe. He set Izaya down on the ground and moved towards the still snarling wolf, who snapped at them repeatedly, still trying in vain to bite them.
“Was he one who could've used a potion?” Izaya asked, watching in awe as he approached behind Tsukumoya. He felt fear, certainly, but not nearly enough to leave.
“No,” Tsukumoya said, “this one enjoys the hunt.” With that, he lifted his foot, bringing it down hard on the wolf's head. Bits of skull and brain-matter splattered onto the ground and walls as the wolf's growls ceased, and slowly, the body left behind became that of a man's. Izaya stared at the grisly scene, finding it strange that the first tangible thought he had was that he wished Shinra could be here to see this.
“Sorry,” Tsukumoya said, turning to Izaya. “He would've just killed someone else next month. It was better this way.”
“Yeah,” Izaya said, his body still thrumming with adrenaline. “I've never used my power like that on anything living before.” He didn't really even mean to. He didn't realize it was happening until he was doing it. Tsukumoya only laughed, of course.
“Oh, Izaya, that's only the beginning of what you could do.”
***
Hours later, and Shizuo is back to his usual pacing, his looming form weaving between the coffee table and the TV. Izaya is staring at his computer screen, trying to keep up with the chatroom conversation, but it's nothing he's interested in, and his attention keeps drifting elsewhere, his vision blurring as he loses himself to his thoughts.
He was up the last few days with another assignment. Shiki has been keeping him busy lately, definitely trying to occupy as much of Izaya's time as possible. Shiki really enjoys his petty tormenting, and Izaya has to admit he's been stepping out of line these past few months. He hasn't admitted to anything, of course, but he doesn't have to.
—like shit.
Shizuo's thoughts cut through Izaya's. Shizuo is glancing at him as he paces, his mind the usual maze of self-loathing, bloodlust, and emotional static, but it's clear he's thinking of Izaya, too, specifically that Izaya doesn't look well. Shizuo is thinking of the last time he saw Izaya in the middle of the city, and how he resembled a caged animal, manic, listless, poised to strike. Izaya's jaw tightens, and he fights to keep his expression neutral as he stands and moves to the kitchen, bypassing Shizuo.
Shizuo's thoughts continue to carry as Izaya makes tea. The monster is thinking of how small Izaya is, like this, with Shizuo's form so massive in comparison, but also all the time. Shizuo has always thought of Izaya as flea-sized, a beanpole, something annoying to be flicked away, but somehow Izaya always returns. Shizuo thinks Izaya is completely out of his mind, would have to be in order to keep coming back to annoy him.
But there's a comfort in that, isn't there? Izaya thinks, and Shizuo goes completely stiff, his body turning slowly to face Izaya.
Get the fuck out of my head.
“It's not my fault your thoughts are so loud. You're practically screaming them at me.” Izaya finishes with his tea, and makes his way back to his desk. “Besides, is it really even considered eavesdropping if you're thinking of me?”
Yes. Shizuo's ears are pulled back, his teeth bared. You've invaded enough of my life, you fucking parasite. Let me think in peace.
“Monsters don't deserve any peace,” Izaya mutters, but he grants Shizuo's request, and leaves his mind. At least, Izaya tries to. It's strange. He's never encountered this before. Izaya doesn't read minds often, at least on purpose, but most people are always subconsciously guarding themselves, even without being aware of Izaya's abilities. With Shizuo, he's both protecting and projecting his thoughts to the point that he's pulling Izaya in more than he's pushing him away. If Izaya had to guess, he'd say it's because Shizuo has never had to guard himself. For all of Shizuo's confounding nature, he's incredibly simplistic and straightforward, and his close proximity to Izaya is only making his thoughts even louder. Izaya groans and pinches the bridge of his nose.
What's wrong with you? Shizuo sends, and Izaya blinks up at him when he realizes Shizuo is now sending his thoughts freely and directly.
You're making my head hurt. Izaya thinks back. Shizuo growls a bit.
Good. You deserve it. Fuck you.
Izaya snorts and sips at his tea. This is new for them. In all the time Shizuo has spent here in his transformed state, he's never really conversed with Izaya before. The conversation isn't exactly thrilling, but it's an improvement over Shizuo's usual brooding pity party.
Izaya turns off his computer, deciding he's done playing with his humans tonight. He carries his tea with him as he pads over to the couch, passing by Shizuo again, who glowers at him the entire time. Izaya sits down on the couch and turns the TV on, flicking through some different channels before he decides on a cartoon he likes.
Shizuo isn't looking at the screen, but his ears are twitching towards the sound of whimsical music. Izaya wonders if Shizuo deprives himself of all creature comforts on nights of the full moon because he's afraid of this being his new normal, afraid of accepting this is his life now. It's laughable, and Izaya does laugh, can't stop himself. Shizuo's head whips towards him, dark eyes narrowed suspiciously, still incredibly human even in that distorted, monstrous face of his.
“Don't look at me like that. I'm only watching TV,” Izaya says, and he sips at his tea. Shizuo goes back to his pacing, his ears pulled back. He's pissed, as usual, and he wants to ask questions, but he knows Izaya won't answer them. Curiously, Izaya delves a little deeper into Shizuo's mind, wondering what it is exactly that Shizuo wants to know.
Out of my head. Shizuo sends angrily. Izaya pouts and obeys, wondering how Shizuo even sensed him eavesdropping.
You're no fun at all, Shizu-chan.
***
The first thing Izaya really notices when he stops floating along is that he doesn't recognize where he is. It's a normal-looking house, filled with pictures on the walls, and it takes a few moments for Izaya's eyes to focus on them long enough to make sense of the faces. Shizuo's picture is there, and he's smiling, flexing for the camera as Kasuka stands stiffly at his side. They're both young, and like this, with Shizuo's dark hair, it's incredibly easy to see the similarities between them. From a distance, they could be mistaken for the same person.
“Why are you here?” A voice asks from behind Izaya. He turns to face Shizuo, a spitting image of the child in the photograph. He's maybe ten years old, if Izaya had to guess. He's looking at Izaya like he knows who Izaya is, despite the drastic difference in their ages. “Get out.”
“I'm not sure why I'm here,” Izaya says, his hands going in his pockets. “Is there something you wanted to show me?”
“Fuck, no. I want you to get out.” Shizuo's fists are bloody, and his body is covered in tiny scrapes, his clothes filthy. He's been fighting. Izaya can't help but wonder when the fights started, how young Shizuo was the first time he was jumped.
“Am I dreaming?” Izaya asks aloud. He doesn't remember closing his eyes, but it's possible he passed out. He hasn't slept, and he hasn't eaten. He thinks of Shizuo in werewolf form, pacing around and refusing the comforts he desires and he scoffs.
“How the fuck should I know?” Shizuo's fingers twitch, and he's glancing nervously at the stairs. His parents are up there, Izaya realizes, and Shizuo is afraid of them for some reason. No, that's not it. He's not scared of them. He's scared of them being scared of him.
“Were you fighting? You're so young here,” Izaya says. The Shizuo he met was already broad-shouldered and blond, carrying a heavy reputation with that strength of his. This Shizuo is nervous, jittery, unsure of himself.
“You're in my head,” Shizuo accuses, and then he jolts as a door upstairs opens. “Why are you always in my head?”
“I don't know,” Izaya says honestly. “I'm beginning to think you want me to be here.”
A woman begins walking downstairs. She's strikingly pretty, her face similar to Shizuo's and Kasuka's, her dark eyes large and kind. She moves to Shizuo's side, putting her arms around him. She doesn't acknowledge Izaya.
“You didn't mean to,” she says, petting through Shizuo's hair. “You were trying to help.”
“I still hurt her,” Shizuo says, leaning into her and closing his eyes. He seems to have forgotten about Izaya. “I couldn't stop myself.”
“Kasuka said you were trying to do the right thing. You were only trying to scare the bad men away. You're a good, sweet boy, Shizuo.”
“Where's dad?” Shizuo asks, and his mother pulls away a little, giving him a false, gentle smile.
“On the phone with the police. Don't worry, they just want a report of what happened.”
“I already told them what happened.”
“Yes, but they want to hear it from an adult.”
Izaya looks from the scene to the doorway, which is shrouded in darkness. He makes his way over to it, stepping through, and he finds himself outside the wreckage of a convenience store, multiple people buried in the rubble. Shizuo is there, breathing heavily, Kasuka at his side.
“Was this your first time hurting an innocent person?” Izaya asks, and Shizuo snarls at him, tears in his eyes.
“Go away.”
“I can't,” Izaya says, and he walks towards the woman's unconscious body. “You throw your little tantrums all the time. Who knows how many people you've injured?”
“I don't mean to!” Shizuo shouts. Kasuka isn't paying either of them any attention, is only looking towards the distance where a cacophony of sirens are moving closer to them. “You hurt people more than me. You ruin lives all the fucking time, you like doing it. You're the real monster here and you know it!”
Izaya ignores him and looks around, deciding to explore all he can while he's here. Shizuo follows after him, face still contorted in rage.
“How would you fucking like it, huh, if we walked around your memories, all the things you don't want people to see out in the open? All the things you're scared of, ashamed of? How would you like it, flea?!”
Izaya scoffs, turns to tell him to shut up, but everything shifts around them, and they're suddenly in Izaya's childhood home, the twins both screaming in their cribs as a young Izaya curls in the corner, sobbing as the lights flicker around them and doors open and slam repeatedly. Shizuo's expression changes as he looks from Izaya's younger, terrified self, to the real Izaya in front of him.
“Flea?” Shizuo is older, suddenly, and he looks so fucking concerned that it makes Izaya's teeth click together.
“OUT!” Izaya roars, and the scene dissolves around them. He and Shizuo both wake with a start, still in Izaya's living room, Izaya on the couch, Shizuo curled up in the floor, human again, sunlight streaming through the windows.
“Wha— What was that?” Shizuo asks as he sits up, his voice unsteady. “Were you in my past? Was I in yours?”
“Get the fuck out,” Izaya hisses, scrambling to get off the couch and stand over Shizuo. “You had no right, no right.”
“I didn't do anything! You're the one with—magic. What did you do, huh?!”
“I don't fucking know!” Izaya snaps, and then he turns on his heel, marching towards the door. He steps into his shoes, throws his coat on. If Shizuo won't leave, then he will. He refuses to stay here with Shizuo looking at him like this, with pity clear in his gaze. The door slams behind him as he hurries out of the building, his skin prickling and his hands shaking more and more with every step he takes away from Shizuo.

characters made for @oznitus dorm, ling already knows Mara but now they also get to meet the new group on the block
They all hail from The Emerald Plains
Mara Malice Species: human Inspired by: Madam Morrible Height: 5′7″ Age: 21 Favorite Food: salt water taffy Hated Food: Corn [popcorn is the only corn allowed] Fun Fact: Would have been part an important family but her father ran off with his “true love” in poverty instead of just marrying who he was arranged with. Mara doesn’t know this. Unique Magic: The Fates Design She can set the goal and things will fall into place, if its further into the future or a very hard to accomplish goal it will take a lot of magic, and even saps magic from her a bit for each day as fate gets rolling into place like she wanted. so shes not seen doing a lot of magic, especially if she has plans going on behind the scenes. Most don’t know her unique magic.
A teachers assistant that typically while helping grade and work on other things is stationed in Oznitus. Kind of like a baby sitter but not that Crowley would say that. She’s actually earned the nickname ‘mama’ from some more ornery students. As her first year being a teachers assistant she kind of wants to put the best example forward and typically will just say white lies.
“Oh no, Trien sir, i just passed those students in the library. Are you sure that it was them you saw? Come, let’s talk this out, i’d love to help you solve this mystery” taking his arm and leading him off meanwhile the students in question hiding under her desk or throughout the room just out of sight. Actually has grown close friends with the main Oznitus trio, especially Mika who she talks a lot more casually with and interacting more with him like a best friend especially when off the clock so to say. Gets along well with Evett and Theo too. Mika started a joke of telling the first years to call Mara and Evett ‘Mama’ and ‘Pops’ because they can be quite the more paternal of them trying to keep everyone in line and orderly
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Viridian Hunter Species: Human Inspired by: The gate keeper Height: 5′1″ Favorite Food: Filet Mignon Hated Food: Chocolate covered Cherries Year: 2nd Age: 18 Class: 2-D Best Subject: Summoning Club: Light Music - he feels remiss they don’t actually practice their instruments much and a lot of it is just ‘socializing’ Fun Fact: Thinks women are amazing, it’s a common thought from the Emerald plains that the women are the more highly regarded ones. Typically better at magic than the others Though has that actually been put to the test? Where are those stats? How did they test the magic? Seems a bit of just another one of Viridian’s biases Unique Magic: Lock and Key He can make anything un-openable but also he can just as easily open anything he wishes with a magic formed skeleton key. He usually can’t open things enchanted though. he’s trying to see if he can though, he wants to see if he can eventually get to that level.
Met Tsavorite while very young and actually was an orphan the family took in and while they technically adopted him it was very clear he was more of a live in friend because Tsavorite wanted him around. Playing a lot of dress up, playing fun games, telling Viridian to break some rules that were in place that usually would get Viridian so worried and wound up but bending to Tsavorites will to do as she asked and if he got caught Tsavorite would just coolly say “ I told him to.” and that was the end of the conversation. She has surprised him by saying this when he was caught once actually trying to sneak seconds in the middle of the night because he didn’t eat much that day from playing all day with Tsavorite. They sat there in the kitchen with Tsavorite eating with him after the staff made something fresh. It’s one of his most appreciated memories.
He admires Tsavorite greatly and does anything she asks of him. To him Tsavorite can’t do wrong, he knows rules, he knows morallly that some of the things she does do....isn’t the best. But rules don’t apply to Tsavorite. He learned that one early on.
He is more akin to a butler and handmaiden for Tsavorite, picking out outfits, getting them clean, making appointments, doing Tsavorites hair, he even bathes her as if she was a genuine princess that gets pampered. Though Berenice was the one to point out that was a bit ‘odd’ before Tsavorite hushed her and told her she could do it if she found it so ‘odd’ which had Berenice not saying another word on the matter.
Viridian is slightly jealous of the fact Berenice seems to be the favorite, though he does sometimes wonder if it’s actual favoritism considering Berenice does get called ‘Little Kitten’ and petted often as if she was an actual pet and more closely scrutinized by Tsavorite if shes not groomed to the usual expectation and wearing what she told her to. Though he often shrugs this thought off to the back of his mind. After all he was Tsavorites doll first before Berenice came into the picture. Tsavorite cares about those close to her, even if she shows it in...odd ways. He’s sure of it.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Tsavorite Diona Proserpine Species: Human ( ? ) has some fae blood in her Inspired by: The Emerald City Height: 6′ 6″ Favorite Food: Green Apple slices with Caramel Hated Food: Tapioca Pudding Year: 2nd Age: 19 Class: 2-E Best Subject: Magic Practice Club: Gargoyle research facility Fun Fact: Doesn’t yet know how to genuinely interact with people on a personable level, even those closest to her don’t get the full her and her emotions she keeps locked tight. Kind of considers those closest to her more like pets or toys with appreciation but it feels there’s not actual thought of them as their own free willed people. She needs to work on this. Unique Magic: Emerald Spires Creating dazzling green stone columns and working more and more each day to forming them into other shapes and see how far she can stretch them. She has successfully been able to make walls which, if you think about it, is just a horizontal column...kind of.
Tsavorite Proserpine. A name that strikes fear into those of the Emerald Plains. Those who are smart enough to know who really runs the capital. Coming from a long family who’s said to even started the capital base of the Emerald Plains. Born with a Silver spoon in her mouth and treated more like royalty than just simply someone rich due to the power of both financials and magic prowess her and her family possesses. What Tsavorite wants, Tsavorite gets.
She knows money and power get you everything and connections are how you strengthen keeping your station. She very much lives by the ‘Keep your enemies close’ rule but it should be no shock that Berenice and Viridian are the closest to her. While it may seem that she treats them as lackeys, those who actually have seen Tsavorite interacting with general working class staff and those who she’s not close to that Viridian and Berenice are obviously more favored by her with more ‘niceties’ given to them.
Viridian is the one trusted fully to handle her appointments, her outfits, keeping everything organized and in place. He’s trusted enough that she knows he could never do anything of his free volition that would come at her. If something caused him to turn on her, she would no doubt know it was a fake or a spell that caused something like that to change
Berenice she finds simply adorable, such a predator, such a beauty, Berenice has a lot of physical power but she’s just such a lap cat, its where she should be is what Tsavorite thinks of her. A powerful girl by her side, dressed looking cute how she likes. She thinks the meekness she can have is cute but finds her unique magic the most interesting aspect of her. Such contradictions in Berenice. It’s fun. She doesn’t fully trust Berenice though. Not yet. Not on Viridians level.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Berenice Kelly Lemongrass Species: Lion beast folk Inspired by: The cowardly lion Height: 5′10″ Favorite Food: Seared Ahi Tuna Hated Food: granola bars Year: 2nd Age: 19 Class: 2-B Best Subject: Flying skills Club: Basketball Fun Fact: doesn’t originally hail from The Emerald Plains, her family moved there when she was 12 Unique Magic: Trapped Her magic inflicts psychological damage trapping people in their minds for a short period of time with fears and horrible memories coming back to eat at them. Rarely used longer than a few minutes, if used longer the victim will pass out, if used too long...they might not be the same person they were at the start. But she hasn’t used it that long and doesn’t know what might happen.
The supposed Bodyguard of Lady Tsavorite and while she is strong she’s just...not cut out for being that intimidating or strong willed. Often more easily curling in on herself and doing whats told of her. Lady Tsavorite personally decided she’d be her ‘bodyguard’ even if her magic is more impressive than Berenice’s and can go on much longer using it than Berenice as well. Berenice does have genuine power and strength and does her best to keep it up.
Lady Tsavorite typically calls Berenice pet names, but immediately shuts down others who try saying any pet name to Berenice. Her favorite to use is usually “Little Kitten”. It was Lady Tsavorite who chose how she gets her hair down and expressed to her to wear those cute bows and make up as well and what Lady Tsavorite says, goes.
Berenice thinks Viridian is the favorite, Lady Tsavorite doesn’t snap at him for his outfits or make up but then again...he’s never out of proper attire or looking ‘sloppy’ or ‘messy’ but also she wonders just how close two people can be. She’d consider them the closest people two can be platonically really that it’s almost admirable but she can’t feel at ease with Lady Tsavorites behaviors sometimes. While its nice having her head pat and ears scratched always needing to be dressed to her standards is kind of tiresome and does get her worried to being a rough around the edges as she can be sometimes as she likes to run and honestly she has a little bit of dramatic flair and has tried out for theatre. She’s quite good at getting into dramatic proses.
Dicentra Scene Concepts
TAGLIST: @chocolatecaramelcappuccino001
For those of you who have no clue what Dicentra is, it's a multi-book series that I plan on creating inspired by Seraph of the End ;) Check out my page to get more info on it, but I've been working on my plot line and concept work for my main arcs and I wanted to release some rough relationship concept ideas I had to gauge reactions.
Let me know what you guys think and if you'd be interested in reading something pertaining to this! Keep in mind, this series is INSPIRED by Seraph of the End meaning that the characters might not be the same as you know them to be.
Character Key:
Mikaela - Mikaela ;)
Amaris - Yuuichiro (the equivalent of Yuu-chan in this series is "Mari", everyone else calls Amaris "Ari")
Epic - new character that isn't in the series
Vitaly - Lacus (he's in love with Epic in this series and he is fucking confused as to what feelings are)
ENJOY!
🤍🤍🤍
Scene 1 - Epic confronts Vitaly (Lacus) on his feelings for her.
“What do you want from me?”
It comes out in a whisper, the pain and exhaustion evident in Vitaly’s tone that Epic realizes she never once registered.
Her heart heaves.
“Let me ask you one thing. Please, Vita. Just one thing and I’ll leave it alone. We’re friends, aren’t we?” She swears, trying to ignore how her chest aches with each word leaving her mouth.
How the hell did it get to this point?
The purple-haired man before her sucks in a deep breath, but refuses to meet her eyes.
“I can’t promise you an answer.”
Epic bit down hard on her lip, studying him closely. Seeing him so serious, so pained and fearful… It's unnerving.
“Just let me try.”
She calmly waits for his response, and when he finally gives her a small nod, she begins to collect her thoughts silently. Glancing down at his hands gently resting on her waist, she can’t help but silently admire how close he’s allowed himself to stand with her as they slowly dance along the floor. Despite their heavy conversation, to anyone else, they would just seem like a couple enjoying their night.
I wonder if he’ll hold me like this again…
“What do you feel for me right now?”
“I can’t answer that.” Vitaly speaks immediately, like the very mention of his feelings centering her is a confidential subject that no one but himself is allowed access to.
It takes every fiber of her self control to fight down a whimper.
Scene 2 - Mika believes Ari loves Shinoa, so he tries to distance himself by being with other girls
“I’m your family, aren't I? So you don’t need them! I should be the only one in your life! Why would you want them when you have me? Am I… am I not good enough?”
“Mari,” Mikaela starts softly, his heart cracking from the look in the raven’s eyes alone. “I don’t think you understand… It’s different. I can’t use you like I use them.”
I can’t use your emotions as a toy…
“I don’t care what it is!” Amaris sobs, squeezing his eyes shut. His fists tremble by his sides and for a moment, Mikaela braces himself for a hit. “You can use me for it! I love you, Mika!”
Mikaela freezes.
Time stops.
The world pauses spinning on its axis.
He didn’t just say that… did he?
The blond’s heart thuds painfully against his chest. Amaris rarely ever cries and he usually only does when he’s scared of losing something that means everything to him. So perhaps he does mean it?
No, his shattered mind refuses to believe it… But his self control had already been shattered the moment those three words left his mouth.
“You have no idea what you just asked for.”
Mikaela barely managed to push out the words before his lips met Amaris’s in an explosive fury. They melded together like the blond’s life depended on it. One of his hands pressed Amaris to himself while the other tangled itself in his soft, raven locks. Amaris held stiff as a board, letting out choked sounds as he attempted to pull out of Mikaela’s death grip. Every inch of the blond’s being burned as he finally yanked himself away from the subject of his affections, no longer managing to hold back his tears.
Even after saying all that… Amaris still didn’t kiss back.
“S-See?” Mikaela chokes, placing plenty of distance between his burning throat and the stunned Amaris. “S-So you don’t want something like that from me. J-just leave me alone, Mari.”
Mikaela turns to make his leave when a cold hand suddenly grips his wrist desperately. His eyes grew wide, a chill racing up his spine. He doesn’t even need to ask to know exactly who it belongs to.
But why is he stopping me?
Mikaela wants to jerk his hand away, but he can’t. Fear paralyzes him. He wants to look up and glare at Amaris, curse at him, yell at him, something. But Amaris’s one simple action renders him powerless.
“Mika… please, look at me.” No. “Please. It’s okay. I’m begging you, just look at me.”
I can’t.
Amaris slowly draws his arms around Mikaela, making it clear that he holds no intentions of letting go until his wish is fulfilled. Mikaela closes his eyes in misery, tears dripping uselessly onto the floor beneath their trembling bodies.
I hate myself.
Scene 3 - Epic and Vitaly's first meeting (Essie and Monika are characters to be discovered later on)
“I was right… you’re in here!”
A shocked yelp escapes Epic’s lips as the doors slam open, revealing the lean purple-haired lamia she’s been running from. Epic snarls at him, trying to ignore the way her knees betray her, trembling in the armor from her fright. She glances down at her hands, curling them into fists with the lack of her axe.
You have no weapon, meaning you can’t access Monika. In a fight between brute strength, you stand no chance against him.
You can’t rely on Essie. We have no idea what she’s capable of.
Even if you tried to run, it would be no use. You could try to take his weapon, but you can’t even figure out how to use the damn thing.
So what can you do?
“I found you! So this is where you’ve been hiding.”
The female backs up until her posterior hits the wall, watching the lamia before her closely. She slowly glances around the room, searching frantically for any other means of escape.
“There’s nowhere to run, kitten. I’ve got you cornered.” He practically purrs, enjoying the hopelessness beginning to flit across her orbs. He slowly began to approach Epic, his bow flexing with every movement. A frightened look flashes across her face as she tries to take another step back only to remember she has nowhere else to go. A playful smirk pulls the corners of his lips upward, crimson gaze looking at her trembling form like a cat to a mouse.
“How cute,” he muses. “That’s an adorable expression.”
One of complete, unshuttered fear.
As he advances, Epic steps to the side in an attempt to create some distance, only to stumble and fall onto the mattress beneath her feet. Before she even has a chance to sit back up, the purple-haired lamia slams her wrists back down onto the bed. His knee sinks into the mattress as he hovers above her, face dangerously too close for comfort. Epic’s breath hitches.
This is the first time she’s managed to get a good look at him. She hasn’t ever really paid attention to any of the lamia before, but now…
Glowing crimson orbs with dark lashes adorned his porcelain complexion, lips stretched into an attractive smirk that seemed to be tattooed onto his face. Medium length, vibrant purple hair fell from his head. The stray strands that weren’t secured to the back of scalp framed his cheeks elegantly with one side just a little shorter than the other.
A faint blush rose to her cheeks against her will.
Damn. Why does he have to be so handsome?
“Let go of me, you bastard!” Epic writhed beneath him as a last resort, trying desperately to thrash out of his grip through force. She instantly stopped, however, when he suddenly squeezed her wrists with warning, eliciting a whimper from her throat. His eyes narrow.
“Watch it. I’ll break your wrists.”
His threat silences her. She’s not risking any more injury to her person. She stays quiet, but forces herself to stare directly into his eyes.
If he’s going to kill me, then he’s going to watch me every second of it.
He tsked. “You’re a feisty one, aren’t you? Don’t find too many like you nowadays. No wonder everyone’s so intrigued by you. Aren’t you even going to bother asking my name after making me chase after you all day?” Epic stays silent until he releases a borderline-annoyed sigh. “Ah! You’re no fun! I’m Vitaly.”
Epic’s brows furrow. Vitaly. What a gorgeous name…
For such a horrendous person.
“Vita…” He hears her mumble, repeating the name back. He smiles, but it’s full of nothing but malice.
“Yes, kitten? Well, what’s your name? It’s rather rude if you don’t extend the same courtesy.”
Epic grits her teeth. “Don’t play games with me. You clearly know who I am.”
Vitaly smirks triumphantly. “Ah, there’s that attitude! True, I know who you are. But I’d much rather hear it from you.”
“...Epic.”
“Hm, Epic? Cute name.” Knowing she wouldn’t resist much more, Vitaly releases one of her wrists to gently caress her cheek. Epic flinches in response.
“Oh, come on. Don’t be afraid of me…” He sings, orbs emitting a mischievous glint. “I’m not going to hurt you…”
Epic freezes.
He’s not?
Scene 4 - teasers of Epic and Kerenza (Akane) moments ;)
Fluff...
“My dearest Kerenza!” Epic dramatically bowed before the redhead, holding out her hand. “Would you do me the honor of marrying me?”
A dark blush coated Kerenza’s cheeks, heart thudding rapidly against her chest. A slow smile spread along her lips as she nervously tucked a loose strand of hair behind her ear.
She gently placed her hand in Epic’s.
“I’d love to marry you, Epic.”
Now it’s Epic’s turn to blush.
Bittersweet...
“Promise me.”
“Epic-”
“Promise. Me.” Epic slowly turned to face Kerenza, a look of absolute heartbreak written in her irises.
“Please.”
Kerenza pressed her lips into a thin line, before offering the whitenette a soft smile.
"I promise, Epic. We'll get out of here together."
...Well...
Epic tightened her grip on the bleeding girl in her arms, sobbing with each slip of life she felt leave her with every passing second.
“R-Renza, come on, stay with me.” Epic pleaded brokenly.
This has to be a dream.
God, please. PLEASE. Let me wake up. Let us wake up cuddled up together in that rickety attic once more. Let me know those old floorboards and cooking dinner by her side. Let me know fighting for our lives together.
Let me see her smile again.
Through the tears blurring her vision, Epic wasn’t able to see the redhead as she slowly strains her head up to be eye level with the albino.
By the time Epic blinked her tears to roll down her cheeks, all she could see was the loving hazel orbs of her best friend. Using the last threads of strength within her, Kerenza leaned in closer to her.
A sob ripped through Epic’s lungs just before Kerenza’s lips met hers.
Scene 5 - Ari wants Mika to marry him
“Don’t worry, I’ll definitely turn you back into a human, Mika.”
“You make everything sound so easy, but you should be thinking about your future rather than mine, Mari! Unlike me, you and Epic still have one…”
“Of course you have a future,” Amaris counters after a short minute of silence. Mikaela curiously meets his gaze, waiting for him to elaborate.
However, what he says next is something the blond could never have prepared himself for.
“Me.”
“...What?” Mikaela finds his mouth to suddenly be full of cotton, completely caught off guard. Memories of the time Amaris begged the blond to marry him flash through his mind, but that could have been nothing more than a desperate plea to get him to stay. He’s probably already changed his mind…
“Will you marry me, Mika?”
Mikaela’s heart stops.
The question leaves his lips in an uncharacteristically soft voice. Amaris watches closely as Mikaela quickly lifts his head from his chest, looking at him with a beyond surprised expression.
“W-What? Why?!” Is all he can manage to gasp, trying his best to contain the blush clearly adorning his cheeks. Amaris can’t help smiling at his adorable attempts to keep his composure. The proposal’s making him flustered in the cutest way.
“Why not?” He tilts his head to the side in confusion, adoring gaze never once wavering from Mikaela, only making him even more flustered.
“Because i-it’s not something you just randomly ask! When did y-you even think of that idea?”
“Well, before it was when you were threatening to leave me. But I just thought of it now too, and you never gave me your answer.”
Mikaela stares down in complete disbelief at his best friend. Not because of his spontaneity, but because of his absolute sureness. What makes him know for absolute certain that Mikaela is the one?
How can he be so sure that he wants Mikaela instead of someone else?
How can he love a monster?
Regardless, the blond can’t deny his pounding heart, reaching out to Amaris’s. The complete urge he feels to say yes. It’s not like it’s the craziest idea in the world after all, and more importantly…
He would have said yes the first time around.
“I love you, Mika.”
🤍🤍🤍
So... what do you think? ;)
OnS Chapter 96
Here we are again! I can’t wait for next month’s chapter already lol.
There are crappy screenies down below. I apologize.
Krul has to deal with the kids lol. The girls are still drunk and ended up throwing up... on Krul. It was gross even though it’s censored so I didn’t take a screenshot. She ended up leaving.
Yuu doesn’t refer to her as “vampire” or “queen”. To him, Krul is “Asuramaru’s sister”.
New outfit! New outfit! New outfit!
She’s so cute in this!!! She should wear more clothes like this from now on instead of the gothic lolita one. That one’s good but this is cute.
*ahem* Anyways, she returned before the boys could go out to look for her.
She points out how dumb and annoying everyone is with half the squad drunk and Yuu being himself. Yuu points out how she looks younger and Krul explains she’s older than this and it’s why she’s powerful along with the fact that she was turned by the 1st progenitor. She made Yuu guess how old she is and Yuu teased her by saying 3. Kimizuki worriedly reminds Yuu that this is the vampire queen and she could kill them if she wishes.
Krul is confused lol like when was she friends with these people? Also, now Yuu refers to her as “Asuramaru’s Baby Sister”. Not just sister now... baby sister. Sounds cute though and technically not wrong. Krul, though, corrects him that Asuramaru’s name is Ashera. Ashera might have become a demon but he’s still Krul’s big brother.
They all plan to have a talk but the girls are still dizzy. Yuu decides to carry them to help cause they’re friends but the girls are embarrassed. We all know these two like Yuu but Yuu’s just stupid.
Yuu later on asks Krul how to turn Mika back from being a demon and Krul takes offense at Yuu’s rudeness.
Krul then points out it might have been cause of bad parenting and asked who raised Yuu to be like this.
^It’s this guy. lol
I was laughing so hard at this.
Flashback to when tiny Yuu is training under Guren. I just wanted to point out this part where Yuu says he’d get revenge for Mika. He didn’t say “for my family”. He only said “Mika”. Yeah this might just be me being a MikaYuu fangirl but wait for it I’ll remind you of this again later.
Nah man, Mika is just disciplined. That’s how he is and Yuu’s just Yuu. I don’t think Krul raising Yuu would change him that much to be honest. Also, I still think of Krul as Mika’s mom-figure so this is in a way really sweet to me. Like, she’s proud that her son turned out way better hahaha.
Okay, on the left is Guren kicking Yuu for their training. On the right is Krul kicking Mika for their training.
They raised the boys the same way lol. And hey, I sorta kinda got one of my wishes from years ago: parenting comparison between Krul and Guren! It’s not exactly what I wanted but this is good! Thank you~
Remember that screenshot from before where Yuu says he’s training hard for Mika? Yeah, Mika went through the same thing but for Yuu. Aaaah these two~
I can’t wait for the reuinion!
She does care despite not showing it. She did raise Mika after all.
Yuu ended up bowing down like this to show her he means it and really is serious about asking for her help for Mika’s sake.
Thank the lord! Finally a competent leader who actually has information!
Krul will finally tell them (and the audience) the stuff happening behind the scenes and the origin of all this crap that’s been going on. (also confirms that Mahiru has something to do with all this).
But that’s on the next chapter.
Ah I’m so excited! It’s finally time to answer some questions that have been on our mind about what’s really happening. I can’t wait for next month!
Thanks for reading this far!
Baby!Into1 x Daycare au | Intro
(ft. Bo Yuan as the caretaker of the 10 chaotic bunch, ranging from the ages of 3-5)
a/n: hello hello yumi here~ so this is the first into1 au of mine that will ever see the light of day. at first I was going to write things for it, but honestly I'm going to make it into a series with incorrect quotes to attach with it. this post will be the bios of all the babies and our lovely caretaker Bo Yuan, so enough of me babbling and I hope you guys could enjoy~
First off, we have the Caretaker™ Bo Yuan:
my mans is like in his 20's rn
wanted to open up a little day care as like side job/internship because he wanted to teach kids in the future so he was like “might as well start working with kids now!”
and so
he did it
only regretted his life decisions when his devil number 1 and devil number 2 does something bad
other times he really enjoy looking after them! and he doesn’t even feel like it’s a job!
has been thinking about taking a field trip with all 10 of them but he’s afraid: 1) he might lose one 2) he might lose himself 3) can they behave themselves
his favorite thing to do is having all of them gather around while reading a fairytale to them for nap time
or sometimes he would sing a song
he has a lot of favorite things in day care, literally having all 10 of them just there makes him happy
except when lin mo and nine is having a scream off:
lin mo: ahh
nine: aHH
lin mo: AHH
nine: AHHHHH-
bo yuan, running into the room: what’s wrong?
ak: screaming
bo yuan: why?
patrick, with his hands over his ears: TO SEE WHOS LOUDER
all the other boys: *nods*
isnt always watching the kids 24/7, since day 1 when the kids came in he told them the rules of the daycare and kinda just let them familiarize the place
(bo yuan: its a daycare, and they are kids, they are suppose to have fun!
keyu, in the back, mumbles: i wanna climb the tree in the yard
bo yuan, turns around: keyu no)
///////////
And now we have the kids!!
Liu Yu:
4 years old
very quiet, just likes to sit and read and draw
the most obedient one, and likes to follow around bo yuan
well,, most of the time
he’s played a few pranks on bo yuan like:
bo yuan: liu yu nap time is over you have to wake up
liu yu: *not moving*
bo yuan, gently nudged liu yu: liu yu wake up!
liu yu: *continues to fake sleep and not move*
bo yuan: *leans closer to liu yu’s face to make sure hes not sick or has a fever*
liu yu, scares bo yuan: WAH
bo yuan: liu yu dont do that! you scared me!
liu yu: *giggles*
likes to stretch and bend himself in odd positions
(bo yuan: everyday I’m in fear that he will snap himself in half)
kinda an introvert but once he hangs around everyone for a bit he will open up to them and fit himself in very well
likes to organize and keep things how he found them/have special places where he organizes his toys
jiayuan: *moves liu yu’s fan*
liu yu: hey! put that back!!
has really good etiquettes and never really fights or argues or bicker with the other kids
but likes to joke around and mess around with once in a while
patrick: wahhh i put my cupcakes here who took one!
liu yu, hiding it behind his back: idk maybe keyu took it?
the least of bo yuan’s worries since he’s always in bo yuan’s sight, also he’s aware of his surroundings so he actually helps bo yuan make sure everything’s okay
(bo yuan: i made a checklist for myself on the whiteboard and liu yu likes to check things off for me, he said “coloring in the boxes is fun” so now he's the reason why i get all my work done)
-----------
Santa:
4 years old
riki’s best friend
super happy and bright, like a ray of sunshine
is easily scared
lin mo: hi
santa: WAHHHHH BO YUAN GEGE
really likes bo yuan, would stick on to him a lot and ask him about everything
santa: bo yuan gege whats this?
santa: bo yuan gege what’s that?
santa: bo yuan gege what are you making right now?
hangs out with liu yu and mika a lot (other than riki)
riki is older than him but would hold riki’s hand and take him around like a didi
also really likes racing with mika for E V E R Y T H I N G
(bo yuan: yeah couple days ago they tried to race who can fall asleep faster but because they kept on peeking at each other so they basically didn’t sleep till i said i’ll watch for them)
really likes to dance, every time he hears music he would start grooving around
loves learning new things, which is probably the reason why he always asks bo yuan so many questions
also least one of bo yuan’s worries, just gotta make sure jiayuan and lin mo don’t pull pranks on him
(bo yuan: well they dont really pull prank pranks, its just once lin mo grabbed a frog and started running around and showing it to everyone, but lin mo lost grip and the frog jumped on santa)
-----------
Rikimaru:
5 years old
looks like he’s 3, acts like he’s 3, but is actually 5
best friends with santa! always sticks around him and likes to tug on a corner of his shirt out of habit
bo yuan: alright everyone it’s nap time! i’ve made the beds for everyone
riki, sees his bed is not next to santa: bo yuan gege can you switch my bed next to santa? i wanna be next to santa
he didn’t start speaking till he was 4 so he often stutters when he talk and just looks confused a lot (it's because he’s thinking and formulating his words)
santa and the other kids would always have to interpret for him
bo yuan: riki I brought some snacks today do you want cookies or marshmallows?
riki: ???
santa, motioning with his hands: bo yuan gege said do you want the white fluffies or brown crunchies
riki: oh! crunchies!
squishy cheeks,, bo yuan’s favorite thing is to squish his cheek everytime he sees him
riki: gud mooning bo yuan gege!
bo yuan, squishes riki’s cheeks: ahh I haven’t seen you in so long good morning!!
nine: wait wasnt riki here yesterday??
also likes to stretch,, often seen around with liu yu and they just help each other
(bo yuan: i am afraid he will snap himself in half too)
not too much of bo yuan’s worries, besides the fact that he might get kidnapped because he’s so oblivious
(bo yuan: we were playing outside in the yard once and riki just wandered off because he thought the neighbor’s flowers were pretty)
-----------
Mika:
4 years old
also kinda an introvert, doesn’t interact with too many people
usually it’s santa that approaches him first or keyu^^
found a ukulele in the toy bin one time and wouldn’t let go of it (he claims it’s his now)
his favorite activity at daycare is when they all sing together, that’s when he smiles the most and has the most fun
the one that likes to nap the most
also likes to help bo yuan cook once in a while (mostly just having mika washing vegetables and passing things to bo yuan)
very laid back and not noisy (till he starts playing the ukulele)
often gets scared by lin mo’s sudden screams (actually, lin mo scares a lot of people, sorry to mika’s ears)
also not one of bo yuan’s worries, literally there’s nothing to worry about with mika, all the kids just likes to sit around mika and pet his head so he keeps everyone safe
(bo yuan: one time I couldn’t find any of the kids in the play room, apparently they were all in the napping corner petting mika’s head since he just got a hair cut)
-----------
Nine:
4 years old
loud, very loud.
pouts a lot
everyone calls nine cute, even the boys who are younger than him
likes to boss around patrick because he’s older
nine: patrick gimme that juice box!
patrick: you’re closer you get it!
nine: i’m older than you!
literally scared of everything
if he hasn’t seen it before and it’s living, he’s scared
jiayuan: *holds a bowl of tadpoles*
nine, several feet away: WAHHH WHAT IS THAT
the happiest when he gets snacks + real food food
also really likes to sing!! his favorite thing is watching disney movies because there’s so much music in it and he just loves to sing along
he’s not part of bo yuan’s worries because he’s literally scared of everything, but nine is really naive and would do things that the other kids tell him to do so, it’s a 50/50 on nine
(bo yuan: there was an edible decorative flower on keyu’s birthday cake couple days ago, and somehow jiayuan convinced nine all flowers were edible. so today during outside time nine almost ate the neighbor’s flowers)
-----------
Lin Mo:
3 years old
LOUD. VERY LOUD.
probably the craziest most hyper one out of them all
he and jiayuan always have something bad planned
literally doesn’t have a moment where he’s calm
constantly in bickering mode with ak
lin mo: NO IM RIGHT
ak: NO. IM RIGHT
patrick: what are they arguing about?
keyu: *shrugs*
but is also best friends with ak so he’s also calm around him
(bo yuan: yeah these two have on and off days, you can never predict it)
and also constantly naruto runs around the daycare
bo yuan: lin mo stop running!
lin mo: *nyoom*
he also once nyoomed into keyu
keyu: ow what was that for?
lin mo: you were in my way!
and now he nyooms into keyu for fun
a very good mood maker
likes to smile/laugh a lot
would calm down if you show him a movie or a cartoon
number 2 on bo yuan’s worry list because he’s the "bad influence" for everyone, also he reduces hearing for everyone
(bo yuan: i’ve secretly made a tally book on how many times i have to say “lin mo” in a concerning tone this week and he came in 2nd. he was only here for like 3 days!)
-----------
Zhang Jiayuan:
3 years old
YOURE THREE STOP SMIRKING LIKE THAT
couple months younger than lin mo but this is the real culprit under a lot of his and lin mo‘s plans
it’s just because jiayuan has a lot of crazy ideas and he says them out loud and lin mo is just like “yes”
also sometimes they are just accidents, but he's always doing weird questionable things with lin mo
got really sad one time because he brought tadpoles and put them in the fish tank and killed them since the fish went nom
but then started to constantly catch for tadpoles to feed the fishes
bo yuan: jiayuan stop, you’re killing the frog population!
jiayuan: but the fishies are hungry *pouts*
likes to fight/mess around with keyu for no reason
keyu: *sitting there, drawing*
jiayuan, with a squishy hammer: *bops keyu’s head*
but also will protect keyu if anyone tries to mess with him
lin mo: *nyooms into keyu for the 3rd time of the day* jiayuan, hugs keyu: stop hurting him!
the calmest thing he likes to do is taking care of plants, probably because he saw bo yuan spraying the plants one time and he like to squeeze the spray bottle
number 1 on bo yuan’s worry list, this child is literally not safe alone or with anyone. they were trying to celebrate keyu’s birthday and jiayuan tried to touch the candles, while it was lit, by the flame.
(bo yuan: i just got the tablets and haven’t set up children mode, so i’ll take the blame for this one. but also why are kids so good with technologies nowadays??)
-----------
Patrick:
3 years old
squishy :D
smiley :DD
favorite thing is nap time and snack time
somehow knows every location where bo yuan hides their snacks
bo yuan: *getting the snacks that he hid in the piano*
patrick: *sitting next to the window sill with the snack* hi~
of course bo yuan can never get mad at patrick for eating the snacks because patrick doesn’t do anything bad
also he's a growing child
best friends with keyu,, and drags him on to “adventures”
*the daycare got a new toy play house*
patrick: bo yuan gege, keyu and I are moving out so we can go on an adventure!
keyu: I didnt agree to this??
wants bo yuan to add dress up into the daycare games, since he wants to dress up the other boys in the daycare
patrick: i call it, patrick fashion!
not part of bo yuan’s worries till he’s on his hunt for the hidden snacks, just because bo yuan is afraid he might hurt himself
(bo yuan: i started hiding the snacks higher up and one time i saw him trying to climb on keyu’s shoulders to grab it)
-----------
Zhou Keyu:
3 years old
smart, but really clueless at the same time
tall, but has the personality of smol
likes to draw
also likes to read with patrick,, but usually patrick falls asleep so it’s him, the book, and a sleeping patrick
wears glasses all the time since his vision isn’t so good but somehow he makes glasses look good on him???
has a chain with his glasses because there too many glasses incident with keyu
glasses #1 keyu: I don’t like them! *takes it off and loses it*
glasses #2 keyu: *takes them off for nap time, but riki accidentally rolled on to them and snapped it*
glasses # we don’t know how many: *disconnected from the keyu universe*
also like a month younger than lin mo but literally has to make sure lin mo doesnt “blow” the place up
lin mo: what if I stuck this fork into the pluggie thing?
keyu, picking lin mo up: nope you’re not
when keyu is clueless he either stands there or just sit there and space out, not really noticeable but bo yuan ran into him doing that a couple times
(bo yuan: I thought he was an ai that was malfunctioning, it scared me at first but now I know he just doesn’t remember what he’s doing)
oh did I mention this,, even though he’s one of the youngest, he’s the tallest, with that advantage he likes to try to pick people up
jiayuan: keyu pick me up!
keyu: no
patrick: keyu likes me more he will pick me up!
keyu: no
patrick: *pouts*
keyu: *tries to pick both jiayuan and patrick up at the same time*
bo yuan, running over: ZHOU KEYU PUT THEM DOWN YOULL BREAK YOURSELF
not too high up on bo yuan’s worry list, give him a piece of paper or book or anything he would just calmly sit there and do something with it
(bo yuan: every time when we do art or reading its so hard to pry keyu away, he has to finish what he was doing and he’s so concentrated he doesn’t hear anybody)
-----------
Liu Zhang (AK):
4 years old
loud, VERY LOUD.
he doesn’t know he’s loud
bo yuan: ak you don’t have to yell
ak: OKAY
monopolized over all the instrument music type of toys in the daycare
bo yuan: ak you know you have to share your toys right?
ak: I gave the ukulele to mika
honestly having ak is like having a walking megaphone so bo yuan ended up actually making ak his little helper for announcements
bo yuan: ak go tell everyone is lunch time
ak: alright!
ak: *da da da running to fetch his little stool*
ak, stands on a little stool in the middle of the play room: ITS LUNCH TIMEEEEEE-
nine, swats ak’s leg: YOU SCARED ME
the only time ak is quiet is when he’s around lin mo, he kinda just likes to watch lin mo and follow him around so that’s that
unless lin mo starts messing with him, then you just lose your hearing for the day
also at first bo yuan was trying to see what ak is interested in, and he taught ak hot cross buns on the bells and thought that would calm ak down,, but oops ak ended up making more noises
patrick: I WANNA SLEEP AK
(bo yuan: I swear something happened to this kid or something. he’s not hard of hearing but he’s just naturally so loud)
i too would lose my hearing if im around ak so much
not to high on bo yuan’s worries but he just make sure ak isn’t being too loud and bothering the other kids, usually he’s pretty good about that but you never know when a little patrick will start napping or anyone really so gotta contain his energy
(bo yuan: ak is usually the first one that’s awake from nap time but its usually like 5-10min before everyone else so i told him he can go and play but he just has to be quiet)
///////////
A/N: Woot woot! We are on Season 4!!! Who’s excited??? :D I’m excited and kinda nervous for what you guys think haha the first half of this season will be taking place in the 1-2 ish month time lapse they had between seasons in the show, hope you guys like that ^^ enough of my rambling, let’s go! finding gifs for the first half of this season was so hard guys lol
Chapter 1
It’s been a month since the survivors won the war against the Governor. Rick had taken up farming with Hershel and they even built a pen for some wild piglets they had found in the woods. Daryl had helped him round them up and herd them into the prison fences. It was now peaceful within the prison, lively with the newcomers from Woodbury but peaceful. Sasha and her brother, Tyreese, had come with the Woodbury residents. They’d all set up a job system for everyone; some people assigned on watch, some on the fences to take care of the walkers that had gotten piled up so that the fences wouldn’t collapse from the weight.
Carol and Gloria were in the kitchen near the main area of the cell blocks serving lunch to everyone. Another serving of Carol’s classic squirrel and rabbit stew, courtesy of Daryl’s hunting skills. Two girls from Woodbury happily bounce up to Gloria and Carol.
“Hello Lizzie, hello Mika.” Carol smiles at the two girls.
“Hello Carol and Gloria!” the girls speak in unison with a happy grin on their faces.
Gloria chuckles at how cute they are then passes one of the filled bowls to Carol then goes on to fill up another one. The girls thank Carol and Gloria for the food then happily go over to their father. Glenn smiles as he walks over to the kitchen area, leaning on the counter.
“So uh... Carol made this right?” Glenn says jokingly, teasing Gloria.
“Rude. Okay, you aren’t getting any, this is for Maggie.” Gloria playfully eyes Glenn, taking a bowl away from him.
“Alright, alright, I’m sorry! I was kidding!” Glenn pleas, reaching out for the bowl again.
“A word of advice, Glenn. Never mess with a woman in the kitchen.” Carol chuckles at him, shaking her head.
Glenn chuckles and nods, “Yes, ma’am.”
“Here, go eat.” Gloria gives him a second bowl filled with stew for Maggie.
He takes the bowls and goes to the table where Maggie is sitting and sits down beside her. Another newcomer, Nina, walks up to the women this time.
“Good morning, Carol!” she smiles then tries to hide her grimace at Gloria, “and hi Gloria.”
“Good morning, Nina.” Carol says with a fake smile, handing her a bowl.
“Oh, can I get another one? I wanted to get a bowl for someone else too.” Nina smiles sweetly at Carol with pleading eyes.
Not bothered with being ignored, Gloria hands her the second bowl and Nina murmurs a thanks then heads to one of the tables. Carol eyes Nina as she walks away then looks over at Gloria and nudges her with a disapproving look.
“What?” Gloria asks, confused.
“You better watch out for that girl.” Carol tells her, nodding pointedly in Nina’s direction.
Nina had sat herself down at Daryl’s table, sitting beside him and placing the second bowl in front of him. Gloria let out a breath, she knew exactly what Carol was saying and they both knew the new girl liked Daryl.
“She’s just being friendly, it’s fine.” Gloria says, not bothered at all.
“I don’t think it’s that simple.” Carol frowns then leans in and whispers to Gloria, “I think you should keep an eye out for her, call it mother’s intuition, but there’s just something off about that girl.”
“Alright, I will.” Gloria says then looks at Carol and nudges her, “did you just adopt me without me knowing?”
“Please,” Carol scoffs, “I adopted you a long time ago.”
Gloria laughs with Carol and then sees that Sasha is on her way out the building. As she had eaten before, Gloria makes her way out with Sasha since they had their shift on the fences together.
“So what’s the bet today?” Gloria asks as she catches up with Sasha.
Sasha slows down her pace until Gloria is walking along her side, “that you and I will kill most of them judging with who was placed on our shift.”
Gloria furrows her brows in confusion then Sasha gestures back towards the building and Gloria glances back to the building to see Nina coming out holding a pipe. Sasha had nothing against Nina, she just knew the girl was not a fighter, not when she was back in Woodbury and definitely not when she got to the prison with the others.
“Well, this’ll be fun.” Gloria chuckles.
Sasha scoffs and rolls her eyes, “yeah, carrying the group is always fun.”
Gloria runs ahead to the fence first and unsheathes her dagger, stabbing a walker through the fence, “first kill!”
“First doesn’t always mean you’ll win!” Sasha chuckles and jabs a walker through the fence.
The two continue to bicker competitively as they kill the walkers through the fence. Eventually, Nina gets to the fence and she also joins in stabbing the walkers, but not as quick as Gloria or Sasha. Even though Gloria and Sasha got off to a rocky start when they had first met, they'd become fast friends with their competitive nature. Sasha never blamed Gloria for not letting them into the cell block, understanding that it was for the safety of Carl and the others.
Gloria was about to stab another walker through the fence when an arrow whistles through and pierces the skull, killing it instantly. A knowing smile creeps on Gloria’s face when she sees the arrow.
“That does not count as your kill.” Sasha teases beside her.
Gloria chuckles at Sasha’s words and yanks the arrow out from the walker’s skull, letting it fall to the ground. She turns around and as expected, sees Daryl walking towards her with his crossbow now slung behind his shoulder.
“Show off.” Gloria calls out, wiping the arrow on her pants before handing it back to him.
“Thought ya needed help with that one.” Daryl teases, a side smile tugging at his lips.
Gloria rolls her eyes and scoffs jokingly, “I had it handled, Mr. Dixon.”
Sasha chuckles behind her, “hey, are you two lovebirds gonna flirt all day or help?”
“See what you did? Making me look lazy.” Gloria nudges him and stabs another walker through the fence, making Daryl laugh.
A whining cry from Nina captures their attention as she struggles with killing one of the walkers. Her pipe got stuck in the skull of a walker she had just killed.
“D-Daryl, help me, please!” she whines.
Being the way he is, Daryl goes to help her. He pulls the pipe out from the walker with one hand, looking rather effortless. Gloria had gone back to killing walkers through the fence.
“Wow, Daryl, you’re so strong!” Nina gleams at him helping her.
Sasha gawks at Nina then turns to look at Gloria, “how are you not bothered? You can not be okay with this.” she says in a whisper.
“Because,” Gloria starts then leans in and whispers to Sasha, “she can flirt all she wants but at the end of the day, Daryl’s mine and he knows that.”
“Oh wow.” Sasha chuckles, feeling quite proud of her friend’s confidence.
“Plus, you wanna take in how uncomfortable Daryl looks with her advances?” Gloria can’t help but point out that he’s been shifting on his feet, clearly not comfortable with how much attention Nina’s paying him.
Sasha glances and notices it too and laughs, nodding in agreement, “you’re right, you got nothing to worry about.”
Daryl comes back to Gloria once Nina is done bombarding him, “hey, Glenn wanted to do some meeting for tomorrow’s run.”
“I’m included?” Gloria looks over at him, yanking her knife out of a walker.
“Yep.” is all he says as he walks back to the prison.
---
Gloria had finished her shift with Sasha and Nina. Tyreese and a few others were in charge of taking the corpses to a designated area to burn. After getting cleaned up from her shift, Gloria came back out to the main area where Glenn and Maggie were already seated at a table with a map spread out. Gloria sat across from them and looked at the area Glenn had circled in red. Daryl came by and sat down beside Gloria, automatically snaking an arm around her waist. She smiles at him as Glenn starts to explain the plan.
“So this place used to be a really popular mall, I’ve driven past it before and it seems pretty overrun, but with the right team we can get a pretty good run out of it.” Glenn says, pointing to the circled area.
“By the right team you mean...” Gloria ponders out loud while looking at Glenn.
“Us four.” Glenn tells her.
Gloria chuckles, “Glenn, if you wanted a double date, you could have just asked.”
The others chuckle at her comment, “yeah yeah... well, jokes aside, I’m thinking we can enter the mall at opposite sides, clear it and meet in the middle. Maggie would be covering me, and Daryl covering Gloria. Scavenge what we can find and exit through the main doors.” Glenn explains, his hands guiding them through the map and the other smaller map Glenn had drawn to give them a good visual of the place.
“So we’ll be leaving early tomorrow morning, that way we can make it back for dinner?” Maggie confirms.
“Depending on how it goes, we might even come back with dinner.” Daryl says.
“Speaking of dinner,” Glenn looks around the room, “where’s Carol?”
Gloria rolls her eyes, “I swear, you just ate.”
“I’m a growing boy!” Glenn grins cheekily at her, Maggie puts her hand to her face in slight embarrassment.
Daryl looks at Gloria with a smirk, “ya sure he’s older?”
“He is...” Gloria sighs jokingly.
The Arrangement
TITLE: The Arrangement CHAPTER NO./ONE SHOT: Chapter 11 AUTHOR: the-resal10 ORIGINAL IMAGINE: Imagine you are marrying Loki. It was an arranged marriage and you are not too happy about it. Loki is quite happy as he has always secretly liked you. But he sees how unhappy you are and plays along.
Imagine being in an arranged marriage with Loki. You aren’t too unhappy about it, but he is and is at times rude to you. You two argue and bicker a lot before you both begin to fall in love. RATING: T NOTES/WARNINGS: I know it took me forever to submit a new chapter but the past few weeks have been pretty busy for me. Anyway, on with the fic. Nothing big, if anything just one curse word and that’s it.
Chapter 11: Coming Together
Rosalind and Loki spent most of their time in bed, either sleeping or fucking. They took turns getting out of bed to make a meal for both whenever they were so hungry they couldn’t stand it. They had their meals in bed, feeding the other or trying to throw pieces of food into the others mouth.
They were enjoying themselves. They hardly noticed that they already spent a week in the mountains until they remembered that supplies would be coming in soon.
They decided to spend some more time outside the cabin so they did. They played in the snow, carefree. They forgot about the palace, their duties, their families. It was just them.
They threw snowballs at each other, laughing as they dodged and hit the other. Rosalind hid behind a tree on a hill as Loki ran towards her, throwing snowballs at her as he got closer.
They laughed when he hit her in the shoulder with one. Loki wrapped his around her, happily kissing her hair. While embracing, he followed her as she took a few steps back.
She held tightly to him and yelped when she lost her footing. She brought her husband down with her as they rolled down the hill.
When they landed at the bottom, Loki laid on top of her. They looked at each other and burst into laughter. When they controlled their laughter, Loki stroked Rosalind’s cheek before leaning down and giving her a steamy kiss on the lips, filling them both with warmth.
Later during the evening, Loki slowly opened his eyes, waking up to the sight of Rosalind next to him in bed, writing in her journal. He wrapped his arm around her, pulling himself close to her where he planted kisses on her bare shoulder.
She smiled, “You’re awake.”
“Yes.” He said against her skin. “And you’re writing in your journal. About what?”
She looked at him, “Have you any respect for journals, husband?”
“Of course I do.” He tucked a strand of hair behind her ear. “Before we came here I always saw you writing in your journal. Sometimes a man gets curious.”
“Fine, but you mustn’t tell anyone.”
“Whatever happens here, stays here.” He smiled, “Read it for me please.”
“Okay. Please don’t make fun of me.” She smiled, clearing her throat. “‘Rose’. This is what he calls me now. It’s short and simple, yet when he says it, he says it breathlessly in moans and whispers as we give each other pleasure.”
Loki smiled, trying to hide it.
“I must admit, my wonders about his performance in bed ceased when we first slept together. I can’t believe we’ve taken this long to do it, then again I was acting like a bitch the whole time I was here in Asgard. In my defense, he was acting like a bitch too. Now I see that he isn’t so bad. Last time I wrote in here, I said that we arrived at the cabin. That was a week ago. I haven’t been able to write here because my husband has kept me in bed this entire week. I’m not complaining, though.”
Loki couldn’t help the laugh that slipped from his lips. She looked at him, smiling, “why are you laughing?”
“I’m sorry.” He apologized in a laugh.
“I told you not to make fun of me.”
He stopped laughing, “I’m not. I’m sorry. Please continue.“
She continued to read her journal, “I don’t know what will happen when we return to the palace, but I want to continue to enjoy my time here with him before our duties get in the way. This trip has definitely been good for us and I kind of hope we stay this way for a while, perhaps forever. Till next time.” She finished reading.
Loki placed a hand on her left shoulder, which she placed her hand over his, then he pressed his lips on her other shoulder, giving her soft kisses. She turned her head, meeting his gaze, they shared a kiss. They pulled away, pressing their foreheads together after.
“I hope so too.” He whispered, making her smile.
X
The following morning, Rosalind sat at her desk, reading some letters that came in the mail for her. They were from her family, some from her old friends, and one that didn’t say who it was from, it was just addressed to her.
She found that strange, so she decided to open it first. Just as she was opening it, the door slowly opened, making her look up.
“Loki?” she called out. There was no answer.
Suddenly, a small puppy with a big red bow around its neck, ran into the room, going straight to Rosalind. She picked the puppy up, smiling widely as it happily licked her cheek, excited to see her.
“Where did you come from?” she asked, sitting him on her lap. Loki entered the room, smiling. “Loki. You did this?”
He nodded, “Surprise! Do you like him?”
“He is so cute! I love him!”
“Good, because he is yours.”
“Mine? Loki, why did you get me this adorable hound?” She said, cupping the puppy’s face in her hands, bringing her face close to his.
He shrugged his shoulders, “because I felt like it.” He chuckled, taking a seat on the bed, “I asked the servants to send him with the supplies, so when they came earlier I couldn’t let you help me bring the supplies in or you would’ve seen him.”
“That’s why you gave me the mail and told me to wait up here?”
He nodded, “yes.” they chuckled. “Well then. What shall we name him?”
She sat back in her chair, thinking then perked up. “How about…. Sterling!”
“It sounds perfect, darling.”
“Ugh, he’s so adorable.” She placed him on the floor.
Sterling quickly ran to Loki, trying to jump onto his lap, clearly wanting to be held by the prince. “And very energetic.” he picked him up. Sterling quickly attacked him with kisses. “Hey!”
“Thank you, Loki.” she went over, placing a kiss on his forehead.
Loki looked up at her with a sweet smile that made him look so innocent and cute. She smiled back at him, keeping a longing gaze with him. Sterling jumped up, licking Loki chin which made Loki turn to him, breaking their gaze.
She placed a hand on his shoulder, “I’m gonna make us some lunch.” She left the bedroom, going downstairs.
Loki looked at Sterling, “Sterling, why did you do that?” He scratched him behind the ear, “it’s alright. Come on, boy. Let’s go downstairs.” He placed him on the floor and Sterling followed him downstairs.
X
The week went by in a hurry. Rosalind and Loki spent a lot of time with Sterling, training him as best as they could, and playing with him. They took him on a walk in the snow, watching as he happily ran through the snow, enjoying the freedom outside the cabin.
The three of them were enjoying their time together as a family. Rosalind said this one morning which made a huge smile appear on her husband’s face. The couple never spoke about having a family because Loki was certain that she wanted to be with Mika, now he wasn’t so certain she still wanted that. She was finally falling in love with him.
The night before they were to head back to the palace, Loki sat against the bed’s headboard, reading his book. Rosalind entered the bedroom. She got ready for bed, changing into her nightgown and brushing her hair.
She went over to Loki’s side of the bed, making him look up from his book. She closed his book and placed it on the nightstand, then hiked her gown up and straddled Loki’s hips.
He smiled, placing his hands on her hips. “Yes, darling?”
“We go back tomorrow.”
“We do.”
“I really don’t want to go back.”
He chuckled, “why is that?”
“I like this. You, me and Sterling, the three of us. No duties, nothing to worry about.”
He looked away, thinking then looked back at her. “If Thor is going to be king, it could be like that.”
“You think so?”
“Thor would be happy to set us up with a house for the three of us.”
“And if you’re king, we’ll probably never see another trip like this.”
“That’s not true. If I were king, I could do whatever I want, which includes giving my queen her days off. I’d also give myself days off so I could spend time with her.”
She smiled, “you’d do that for me?”
“Of course.” He kissed her, “I’d do anything for you, Rose.”
“I’m happy to hear.” She laced her fingers with his.
The next morning, they packed their things and loaded them on the small cart. Loki made sure the cabin was left the way it was when they first arrived at the cabin.
With Sterling on the cart, the couple mounted their horses and made their way down the snowy mountains, back to the towns.
They arrived at the palace around the afternoon. The stable boy took care of their horses and a few servants took their belongings back to their chambers. The couple held hands as they entered the palace, Sterling was following right behind them.
“We should probably see the Allfather, let him know we’ve returned.” Loki said.
“Right. We also have to tell him about Sterling.” Rosalind said.
“Come on.”
Loki led them to the throne room. The guards opened the double doors for them, they entered and approached Odin who sat on the throne. They stood before him and bowed.
“Father, we’ve just returned from our trip to the mountains.” Loki said, smiling.
Odin nodded, “good.” He looked down and saw Sterling. “And you’ve brought someone with you.”
Rosalind chuckled nervously, “Oh, um, this is Sterling. While we were in the mountains, Loki gave him to me as a surprise. I hope that isn’t a problem.”
“Not at all.” Odin stood from his seat, descending the throne. “Rosalind, may I have a word with you alone, please.”
“Of course, Allfather.”
“I’ll leave you to it then.” Loki looked at his wife with a smile. “Come on, Sterling.” He whistled, catching Sterling’s attention. The two left the room.
Odin offered his arm to Rosalind, she took it and he led her out of the throne room, through the back. He didn’t say anything as he led them through halls she’s never known about. There was a door at the end of the hall and Odin opened, revealing the gardens. She now knew this was a secret way to the gardens.
The door closed. On the outside, the door was made to match the walls, it was a hidden door that could only open one way, from the inside.
“You’ve been part of the family for a few months now, it’s time you know some of the secret passageways built in the palace.” He said.
“Some of the passageways? How many are there?”
“Lots. I’m sure if you ask Loki, he’ll happily show you all of them. He and Thor were always playing in the secret passageways as children.”
She smiled. “I bet.”
They were still arm in arm, and began to walk slowly through the gardens.
“Did you enjoy the trip?” He asked.
“Yes, I did.”
“When Loki told me that you were feeling overwhelmed about your past decisions, I was hoping that your marriage to Loki wasn’t one of those overwhelming decisions.”
She looked at him, almost offended. “Allfather, I don’t regret marrying your son. I understood that we had the choice to break the engagement and if we did problems would arise between you and my father, but that didn’t force me to marry Loki. Nothing forced me to marry him. I knew Loki didn’t want to marry me, but I married him because a small part of me wanted to marry him.”
“He told you he didn’t want to marry you?”
“I overheard him one night, he was speaking to Thor. Even though we hadn’t seen each other in so long, my heart sank when I heard him say that. I confronted him about it then…” she sighed, “I married him, a small part of me secretly hoping something would happen between us.”
“Where do your feelings toward him stand now?”
“Honestly, sir, I think I’m falling for Loki. We hated each other after I confronted him, then the tour happened and we got along, and the trip to the mountains only gave more support to the feelings I was hesitating about…” she chuckled, remembering their trip to the mountains. “Now I’m not so hesitant about those feelings.”
X
The next afternoon, Rosalind left the palace after lunch, hoping to find a few books at the bookstore in the towns. As she made her way to the bookstore, the townspeople stepped aside and bowed to her, she smiled at them and waved when they waved at her.
She found the bookstore and was greeted by an older woman when she entered the small building. “Princess Rosalind, how may I help you today?”
“I was wondering if you had any copies of these books.” She handed her a short list of books.
The woman looked over it, smiling, “Oh, yes. New copies were delivered this morning. Let me get them for you.” She left her place behind the counter to search for the books.
Rosalind looked around on the shelves nearby. She picked one out and examined it. It was nonfiction, a book about the history of the nine realms. She flipped through the pages and found her realm, the first page had a picture of the main town and the second page began the history.
Her fingers ran over the picture, she knew the buildings in the photo. She smiled to herself as an idea came to mind. When she placed the book back on the shelf, she saw a table holding several books with very low prices. She looked through and picked three, then went back to the front counter when the lady returned with the books.
Rosalind paid them, thanked her then left. She looked around before entering an empty archway that would lead to Mika’s house.
Mika yawned, descending his staircase. By the time he reached the last step, there was a knock on his door. He wiped the sleep off his face before answering the door.
Rosalind smiled brightly when he opened the door. “Hey!”
“Ro? What are you doing here? I thought you and Loki were in the mountains.”
“We came back earlier this morning.” She lied. “May I come in?”
He stepped aside and watched her as she happily stepped in. “Sorry about the mess.” He apologized when he saw her staring at his messy living room.
She looked back at him, “it’s okay. What about you? You look tired.”
“Yeah, I’ve been feeling a little under the weather.”
“Oh, no.” She placed her books on a nearby table. She reached up and cupped his warm face with her hands, then placed the palm of her hand on his forehead. “Warm, but not burning. How long have you been feeling like this?”
“For a week.”
“My poor baby.” She said, making him smile. “You’ve been sleeping all day?”
“Yeah. I just woke up. I was hungry, I haven’t eaten all day.”
“Well, I’m not due back to the palace for a few more hours. I can make you something to eat while you get more rest in bed. I got some new books too, I can read them to you too if you’d like.”
He chuckled, “I would very much like that. Thank you.”
“Go upstairs then while I make your food.” She smiled at him before heading into the kitchen.
Mika returned to bed while Rosalind made him a meal. Soon, just as Mika was slowly drifting into a sleep, Rosalind entered his room with a bowl of warm soup with a book under her arm. He sat up, his back against the headboard. She went over, carefully handing him the bowl.
She sat in bed with him, resting her head on his shoulder as he ate. She opened her book and began reading her book about astrology. The two made comments as she read, finding some of the information interesting and admiring the pictures on the pages.
When Mika finished his soup, Rosalind looked up at him. “Did you like it?”
He looked down at her, “it was very delicious. That was the first meal you ever made for me, thank you.”
She chuckled, “it’s the first meal I ever made for anyone besides myself.”
“Well, it was delicious. I should get sick more often so you make me my meals.”
“In that case, that was the last meal I made for you.”
He laughed, “I’m kidding.” he laced his fingers with hers, then kissed her hair. “Thank you.”
“No problem.” she brought his hand to her lips, kissing the back.
“I’m so glad you’re back. How was the trip?”
“It was good. Very relaxing.”
“Feeling any better?”
“Yeah. The Allfather pulled me aside when we got back. He said that Loki told him I was feeling overwhelmed and that’s why he let us go to the mountains.” she sighed, “he probably thinks I can’t handle this new life like Josephine can.”
“So? What does it matter? Odin won’t be the Allfather for long.”
“Yeah, but he’s the Allfather now. He could tell my father or something, and if my father asks me about it… I just feel terrible now.”
“Well, don’t. You shouldn’t. Everyone needs some time for themselves every once and awhile.”
“Hey, I was thinking of visiting my father and sister soon.”
“You just got back from the mountains.”
“I know, but I’m hoping the Allfather will let me go alone to visit them. I don’t know, I miss them so much.”
“Hopefully he’ll understand. You haven’t seen them in months.”
“Yep.” She looked up at him. “I’m sorry… about everything.”
He chuckled, “you’ve done nothing wrong.”
“I still feel like I should apologize.”
He wrapped his arm around her, kissing her hair again. “Oh, my sweet Rosalind. I love you.”
She placed her hand on his chest, staring straight forward, ignoring the last three words escaping his lips.
Being Shu's gn sibling💛
Note: the divider above is made by me it's suppose to be presents🎁🎁 lol.
• Being Shu's sibling you both are either really close or really separated. But in this case, you guys are close, like separation anxiety close.
• Since Shu was bullied, he had no other friends to share his feelings to so he trusts you a lot (before meeting Kiryu). But after becoming friends with Kuro, Shu introduced him to you. You just stood there behind Shu, with your head peaking out from the side as you stared at the stranger.
• Shu is protective of you because he is afraid that you would leave him and he would be alone. His behavior made you develop a difficulty in socializing with others so you just stayed by his side.
• When Shu first met Mika he was reluctant to introduce you to him. So he didn't(you got mad at him for that) but you soon found out about Mika when he first came to Yumenosaki. You guys are basically in the same class.
• You really like Mika and he likes you too, you are like a sister to him. Its a surprise that you both got along since like I said before your social skills aren't good. Whenever Shu is being mean to Mika you would approach his frowning figure and give him a small candy. His bright smile just made your day.🍬🍭
• You were probably the one who requested Shu to let Mika join the Valkyrie as a back-up dancer. Took a lot of convincing for Shu to accept Mika as a member in Valkyrie but once he did you were literally jumping up on him.
• That's when Shu realized how much you adore Mika and it honestly made him kinda worried. So he kept an eye on Mika for a while until he trusted him.
• When Shu was being harsh on Nito and Mika during the war, you would make them small snacks in an attempt to cheer them up. I can see you caressing their hair as they lay down on your lap, this calms them down.
• After the war is over and Shu was in his depressed phase, you and Mika took care of him. That was the time when Shu started to actually care for Mika and that really made you happy.
• Shu trusts you in Mika's hand. He's more considerate of Mika now, asking for his opinion when making a new outfit, waiting for Mika before you and him go home, or just including him in small conversations.
"What do you think of this colour, Kagehira?" Shu asked
"Ngh!, yer're asking me oshi San?"
"who else would I ask," Shu annoyingly said
• During shopping for fabrics, you and Mika would hide behind Shu when someone comes and tries to intimidate you both. Shu came running to you guys from the other aisle to save the day. He would scold the stranger until they went away and then allow both of you to cling to his arm.
• Shu loves to make you cute little outfits that fits his aesthetics and whenever he sees you wearing them he would proudly announces it to anyone who decided to converse with them.
• You like to make accessories during your free time for Shu and Mika. When Shu found out you not only made these small gifts for him, he got jealous. Shu would include those accessories in his outfit while Mika would usually put it in his treasure box with all the other accessories you made for him.
"Kagehira! What do you think of my outfit today?" Shu said with a proud smile.
"Ya add the gift that Y/N gave! Look they gave it to me too! Just in a different colour hehe" Mika was excited because now you, him, and Shu can be matching.
"humm, but mine was obviously made with better quality and the details are much more intricate than yours!" Jealous Shu is a mean Shu
• Overall Shu is just a brave, protective, and loving brother to you and you, as his sibling, he feels this need to care for you. You are his precious little brother/sister and he love you lots. Mika on the other hand is like your best friend. He too, cares for you even without Shu's orders. He sometimes sees you as his sibling too since he is staying in the same mansion with you.
• You love them lots and couldn't think of a day where you would leave them.♥️♥️
Send me some ideas guys pls.🎁
A3! Event: Bridal Concerto Chapter 1-5 Translations
Translations under the cut.
Boy: << ...What is this? >>
Older Boy: << It's Jasmine. Smells good, right? >>
Boy: << Yes… It's really pretty and smells good. >>
<< Jasmine… >>
Older Boy: << Fufu. Are you that interested in that flower? If so… >>
<< ...It's done. You can take this home. >>
Boy: << Whoa… a flower bouquet…! Thank you very much! >>
Izumi: I'm back.
Citron: Welcome back!
Izumi: !?
Citron: Were you surprised, Director!? It's a great success!
Izumi: I was wondering who it was… What's that?
Citron: I drew the lottery at the shopping district and won the "fun set"! There are other things beside this one.
Izumi: There really are. Wig and tiara… these are indeed amazing prizes, though it makes you wonder what kind of concept they’re going for.
Citron: I feel like we can use this as props!
Muku: What do you want to drink, Yuki-kun? I think I’m gonna have some te--.
Citron: Please excuse me!
Muku: Huh, whoah!?
Yuki: The heck are you doing?
Muku: I was wondering who it was…!
Citron: Fufu, it's me, Citron! Shalala!
Yuki: Oh, great, now he's flipping his hair for no apparent reason. What's with that, anyway?
Izumi: That's one of the prizes he got from the lottery at the shopping district.
Muku: I see, there are other things as well, huh.
Yuki: Hmmm, a lottery, huh… But well, you look surprisingly mature in that.
Citron: I really like this thing! I'm going to continue wearing this!
Izumi: (Looks like Citron-kun’s new addiction has gotten deeper...)
Itaru: I’m home…
Izumi: Welcome back. Is it just me or do you look kind of tired?
Citron: Are you alright, Itaru?
Yuki: Did something happen?
Muku: Are you busy with work?
Itaru: Nah, actually…
Itaru: (Okay, I finished my work. Let's quickly go home and grind the event.)
(I wonder what's for dinner--.)
Togawa: Chigasaki-kun, do you have a moment?
Itaru: (...Yikes, he really has to call me now of all time.)
What is it, section chief?
Togawa: One of our regular clients is planning to hold a bigger-scale Wedding Fest this year.
I'm in charge of that project, so I was just discussing a few things with the other party, like the stage design and programme.
Itaru: (Do we do that kind of work, though…? We're a trading company.)
(But well, let's just go along with him for now.)
Oh, I see. What kind of plan is it?
Togawa: The plan right now is to exhibit all kind of bridal gowns from all around the world and invite guests from overseas…
But the truth is… the plan that the other party wanted to do the most is this one.
Itaru: This document… "Best-of-Three Bride Contest"?
Togawa: We're going to have the participants take on the role of a bride and act out three different kinds of situations.
Itaru: (Ah… So it’s like the bride version of the "Bridegroom Battle Royale" Tsuzuru and Citron participated before.)
Togawa: The other party wants to have this plan realized no matter what--.
But in order to make that happen, we need to recruit several actors to be the participants' co-stars first.
So I'm wondering whether the theater troupe you're affiliated with can lend us some help.
Itaru: ...I beg your pardon?
Togawa: If you're one of the members, I’m sure they have a pretty good line-up of actors there.
And since we can't afford to spend much money on this… would you do me a favor?
Itaru: Hmm, how should I say this… I'm very happy that you reached out to me, but I’m not the one making the decision here…
Togawa: In exchange for helping us with the contest, I'll let you be the last performers at the event. I'll try to negotiate it with the other party.
Don’t you think that will be a good PR for your troupe?
Itaru: …
Itaru: ...Well, it took longer than expected but that's about it.
Yuki: I see.
Izumi: (Come to think of it, I wonder why Itaru-san's company actively participates in a bridal event…)
Itaru: To put it simply, it's like a variety show version of etiquette proficiency test.
In accordance with the event, it looks like they want to plan something related to wedding.
Izumi: I've gotta admit being the last performers at such a large-scale event will be a good publicity…
Maybe it’s better to accept the offer.
Itaru: I knew you would say that.
I’m gonna talk this out with Sakyo-san as well.
Izumi: Thank you!
Itaru: Alright, I'm gonna change my clothes now.
Muku: Wedding Fest, huh… What a beautiful event…
Citron: Etiquette proficiency test seems fun! I'm berry interested in it!
Yuki: It should be, "very interested," you know. By the way, until when are you going to wear that wig?
Citron: Oh! I've gotten so used to wearing this I forgot to take it off!
Azuma: This sake is delicious. I feel like this is my first time trying this.
Guy: It was included in our regular package the other day.
Azuma: Oh, really? Fufu, it goes well with this snack too.
*phone buzzes*
Guy: Hm? Looks like I got a text.
...Is it from Mika?
…
Azuma: What’s the matter?
Guy: No, it’s nothing.
Azuma: ...Is that so?
Izumi: ...Therefore, we're going to act out specified situations this time around.
Itaru: Director-san, thank you for your cooperation.
Juza: OK.
Azuma: Fufu, I'm looking forward to this. It seems fun.
Itaru: There will be three actors taking the stage at the event.
Objectively speaking, I think Azuma-san and Juza are just the right men for it.
And since my section chief told me to make an appearance, I have to join you two. In the meantime, senpai ran away…
That person is hella good at evading this kind of subject.
Izumi: Then, I'd like to ask Azami-kun to handle the makeup and Citron-kun to escort the winner of the contest.
Azami: Got it.
Citron: Leave it to me!
Itaru: Then, I'd also like to ask Muku to help out as my assistant…
Muku: Okay, I understand!
Itaru: Sorry for making you do this odd-job-like things.
Muku: It’s no problem at all! I'm very interested in this festival, after all. To be able to take part in this event alone has already made me content!
Itaru: God, what an angel… So dazzling.
Juza: So proud of my cousin.
Citron: That’s my son for you!
Azami: He’s not your son, Citron-san.
Itaru: By the way, my section chief told me he had entrusted the duty to deliver the last performance to us.
Izumi: I’m going to have you all go on stage for that!
Azuma: I’m looking forward to both the Best-of-Three Contest and the performance.
Muku: Phew…
Citron: You’re under arrest! You’re under arrest!
Muku: Whoa! You surprised me right there…!
Citron: Sorry, I’ve unintentionally pretended to be Shinsegumi!
Muku: Fufu, Citron-sama looks cool as Shinsegumi!
Citron: What are you reading, Muku?
Muku: The new issue of a shojo manga! It came out just recently.
It’s a very romantic story that centers around royalty. It follows the protagonist whose fiance is actually her first love.
Citron: …
Muku: ...Citron-sama?
Citron: Oops, sorry! It’s nothing.
Muku: Speaking of which, did you decide to stop sporting that hairdo from before, Citron-sama?
Citron: That hair extension actually suits my fancy…
But since no one is surprised by that anymore, it doesn’t feel new. So I took it off.
Muku: I see.
Citron: Now that it has come to this, I’ll have someone else put that on instead. For instance…
…
Muku: ?
Izumi: I’m home.
Tsuzuru: Welcome back. Dinner’s ready.
Izumi: Thanks! Whoa, it looks tasty today too!
Citron: You’re back, Director?
Izumi: Yup, I just got back.
Citron: ...Are you prepared?
Izumi: Huh? I… I guess…? I don’t know what you’re talking about, though.
Citron: Come on!!
Muku: W-Welcome home.
Izumi: Eh!? Muku-kun…!?
Citron: Our prank was a big success!
Tsuzuru: Huh!? What’s with that?
Citron: I have Muku put on the freebies I got the other day!
Muku: On, on second thought, this is surely embarrassing…!
Citron: No, you’re fine! It looks incredibly great on you!
My addiction is never wrong!
Tsuzuru: It should be prediction, not addiction.
Izumi: You really look like a girl.
Tsuzuru: Yeah, indeed… I’ve been considering this since the inner palace play, but maybe I’ll have you take on female roles in future plays.
*bell rings*
Citron: Hm? Who came?
Izumi: Maybe a courier?
Tsuzuru: At this time? I’ll go greet them for now.
Izumi: For real, though… you look so great in this that you don’t look weird at all.
Muku: Sho-should I be happy about this…
Citron: Obviously! You’re very cute! Lemme hug you, pretty Muku!
Muku: Ci-Citron-sama…!
Izumi: (Ahaha, they sure are close.)
Tsuzuru: Hey, hold on! What on Earth are you--.
Izumi: ? Tsuzuru-kun?
*door opens*
???: ...Citronia-sama!
Izumi: !?
???: …
Citron: …
Guy: …
Izumi: Uhhh, alright, they all have left so please tell us what’s your business here…
Leila: ...My name is Leila.
Just as I mentioned earlier, I came from the Kingdom of Zahra.
I’m here to meet Citronia-sama…
Izumi: (Leila-san… is very beautiful. Furthermore, she’s really fluent in Japanese.)
Ummm, can I ask what’s your relationship with Citron-kun…?
Leila: ...I’m Citronia-sama’s fiancee.
Izumi: !?
Izumi: Fiancee!?
Guy: A fiancee candidate, to be precise.
With his status as the prince of Zahra, Citronia already had a fiancee candidate since childhood.
But both me and Citronia are pretty much clueless when it comes to details of the candidate.
I did hear from Mika that someone claiming to be Citronia’s fiancee is heading to Japan. To think that he was actually telling the truth...
Izumi: (Wow, as expected of a royal family… They do have a fiancee since childhood.)
Guy: However, Citronia is no longer in line for the throne.
I believe talks about engagement should be over as well...
Leila: It doesn't matter whether or not Citronia-sama is in line for the throne. I want to marry him.
Izumi: (She looks very determined…)
Citron: ...Sorry. I’m very happy to learn of your feelings, but I can’t marry you.
Leila: Why? I’ll do anything for you.
I’ve been attending marriage preparation class and learning a lot of subjects. I’ve also been studying your beloved Japanese, Citronia-sama.
If there are other things I need to do, I’m more than willing to do it.
Citron: ...Thank you. But still, I can’t marry you.
Leila: …
...Is the woman just now your lover, Citronia-sama?
Citron: Eh?
Izumi: Woman…
(This is just my hunch, but don’t tell me she’s referring to Muku-kun who was crossdressing…!?)
(I can’t blame her for thinking that way though, especially since Citron-kun was hugging him just now…)
Citron: ...That’s right.
Izumi: Eh--!?
Citron: ...Director.
Izumi: (...Guess he’s trying to settle this thing down for the time being.)
(Let’s see how it goes for now.)
Citron: I have a lover. Therefore, I cannot marry you.
Leila: ...I see.
Izumi: (I wonder if Leila-san accepts it. She should be giving up…)
Leila: ...YOU’RE SORELY MISTAKEN IF YOU THINK I’M GOING TO GIVE UP JUST LIKE THAT!!
Izumi: !?
Leila: I can't accept it! If it comes to this, I'd like to challenge her to a head-on battle!
Citron: Oh! She has turned into a completely different person!
Guy: She's really passionate.
Izumi: B-But how are you going to…
*door opens*
Itaru: Director-san, I wanna discuss the "Best-of-Three Bride Contest" I told you before…
...Hm? Sorry, are you in the middle of something now?
Izumi: Yes, very much!
Leila: Best-of-Three Bride Contest… That's it!
Izumi: Pardon me?
Leila: If I win against that woman in that contest… Please come back to Zahra and marry me!
Izumi: Eeeh!? That's just too unreasonable…
Itaru: What kind of development is going on here?
Leila: But if I lose… I'm going to pay an appropriate amount of money as a reward.
In addition, I won't approach Citronia-sama anymore.
Izumi: Even if you say that, there's no way we will accept--.
Leila: Let's talk about the details later. I'm going to leave this number here. Be sure to call me up.
I shall take my leave now. Excuse my intrusion.
*door closes*
Izumi: She, She's gone…
Citron: …
Izumi: And that's what happened...
Azuma: It turned into such a fuss, huh.
Azami: F-Fi.. Fiancee… are you for real?
Citron: Being popular sure is tough. Sighs…
Juza: You sure she ain't just joking?
Itaru: I don't think so. I just took a look at the participants list and her name is there.
And it looks like she's one of the overseas guests who are invited to the fest.
Izumi: That explains it, then…!
Juza: Oh, so that's why she came to visit Citron-san who's in Japan.
Azuma: Being a guest means she has quite the social status and probably an authority too--.
So it may not be impossible for her to… bring him back to Zahra.
Azami: It that really possible, though?
Izumi: Who knows…
Itaru: I heard she's an heiress of a famous corporation in Zahra.
Izumi: (That explains why she gives off the vibe of a well-educated person.)
Muku: …
Izumi: At any rate, we're going to talk with Leila-san some more in regards of the contest…
Muku: ...I'm going to do it.
Izumi: Eh?
Muku: I know there's a chance this may be nothing but a joke.
But if Citron-sama will be forcibly taken away by a group men dressed in black because I reject the challenge…
Then, we won't be able to meet again because they forbid him to get in touch with a dessicated lotus root like me…!
Azami: There's no way that would happen. And calm down.
Itaru: I think we should have senpai or someone else stay by our side in case what Muku imagined does occur.
If Muku takes on the challenge, I'll help out… So what should we do?
Juza: I'll help out too.
Citron: No problem here! I'll try my best!
Azami: Well, it's your call. You're the one involved in this, after all.
Muku: ...I'll do it.
Izumi: Got it, if that's what you want.
Azuma: It may be better not to announce that Muku is going to participate while dressing up as a woman.
Itaru: We need to come up with a fake name, then.
Citron: Let me think about it!
Azuma: Fufu, I feel like you're going to come up with an adorable and fun name.
Izumi: (Guy-san said he already contacted Leila-san, so… all we need to do now is gear up for D-day.)
(But…)
Citron: "My honey, your miso soup is so delicious today too."
Muku: "Really? Thank you."
Azami: "You always say it's delicious as long as it's mom's cooking, dad."
Citron: "It really is delicious, since you put your love in it, honey."
"Your tasteless soup that's the result of you forgetting to add seasoning, your red hot stew that is served after putting too much red peppers…"
"Your salty cake and your cookies that are as hard as stones… my sweetheart, all of them are supreme cuisine to me."
Muku: "Oh darling…"
Citron: "Back when I first tasted your cooking, I felt like an electric shock running through me. God made us find each other."
Izumi: Hey, stop stop! What's with that play!?
Citron: No, no, we're practicing properly.
Izumi: (Sighs… it's been like this for a while now. Will we be all right at the bride contest?)
NOV 1 - LUNDI 9:22
He doesn’t know exactly when he knew.
So when Eliott asks when he knew he loved him—or, liked him, as his confession was worded—as they lay on the same pillow in the older boy’s bed with limbs intertwined and hands traveling all over the new space of skin they are now allowed to explore, Lucas doesn’t quite know what to say.
There wasn’t a feeling of allatonceness everyone talks about; he can’t even pinpoint a progression of feelings. Perhaps they developed subconsciously, without his knowledge until they were too intense to go unnoticed. Maybe the knots in his stomach were because of these feelings and not the usual every day nervousness he’s used to.
Maybe it’s like Aristotle said. Just a constant fall towards his natural place: Eliott. Or as if meeting Eliott was the violent motion that knocked his life off course, or, right where he was meant to be. Or some combination of the two — meeting Eliott was a naturally violent event just destined to happen.
But even if meeting Eliott was such an event, that doesn’t explain how they got here. Here as in having confessed that they love each other, in a way more than friends do. He feels that a major shift occurs whenever Eliott is brought into anyone’s life; Lucas is not special in that regard. But having this, being able to kiss and touch and embrace whenever they wish, is something only Lucas can do. So what changed? How did his friendship with Eliott turn into longing, hoping, yearning for more?
Because if love is anything like energy, then there are laws that apply. Energy cannot be created nor destroyed, so perhaps the same is true for love. It can take on different forms, can fluctuate and move from one place to another, can remain potential or transform into something else entirely. But it’s never not there, never forced, and can have a mind of its own.
That much he knows for sure. He’s seen it first hand; how quickly it can change, there one minute and gone the next. He’s seen how his father’s love changed and moved on to the new family he’s made for himself away from him and his mother, and seen how Emma and Yann remained friends after their break up.
Of course he didn’t have this answer ready this morning, only now putting his thoughts together in class and daydreaming of the warm comfort of being in Eliott’s arms.
“I’m not sure. I just know that I do, now,” he said, face to Eliott’s bare chest and tracing the smooth skin of his collarbone.
He could feel Eliott’s hand pushing the hair out of Lucas’ face and feel the smile on his forehead before leaving a kiss there. One hand traveled down his face, thumb pressing the bone of his jawline and fingers stroking the skin behind his ear, before gently pulling his face up for a kiss — their first since before they fell asleep the night before.
Their conversation didn’t get much further, for they replaced words with touches and glances and kisses. That, and Charlotte opened the door to tell Eliott, “you’re going to be late for sch—” before seeing the two wrapped up in each other. Lucas immediately retreated from Eliott’s embrace and scrambled for the covers that would have been beneficial in masking the compromising situation he has found himself in, once again — this time definitely more humiliating than the last.
“We’re going, we’re going,” Eliott assured his mother as he got out of bed and threw on a shirt. He seemed completely unaffected by the intrusion, not an ounce of embarrassment or guilt present in his voice or muscles — Lucas watched the ones on his upper back as they flexed and relaxed in the process of getting dressed, actually let himself look unlike that night of stargazing.
“This was great while it lasted but I don’t think I’m ever going to be able to look at your mom in the eyes now.”
Lucas hated how Eliott just giggles at that, until he gave in and started to laugh too — at his luck and at the way Eliott looked so cute and giddy.
“What has you in such a good mood?” Imane’s voice breaks him out of his trance, having noticed his cheeks getting rosy from the events of the morning.
“Nothing,” he smiles, picking up his pencil and getting to work.
NOV 3 - MERCREDI 15:26
Eliott is picking Lucas up at his apartment to take him to this new pizza place he’s been raving about. He texts that he’s on his way up and Lucas cannot find a pair of clean socks for the life of him. So, when Eliott knocks on the door, he’s still rummaging through his drawers and hamper to find any pair he can.
Mika answers the door; Lucas finally finds some socks under his bed, and he can hear Eliott and his flatmate talking from the hall.
He can’t believe Mika actually has the nerve to ask if Eliott is available and hardcore flirts with him in their living room. Eliott just laughs and plays along, until he tells him, seriously, “Unfortunately, I am deeply in love.”
This makes Lucas stop in his tracks as he makes his way towards them. He supposes he knew that already; they are in this honeymoon stage of just getting together, but it still knocks the wind out of him.
Mika is surprised but mostly curious, and maybe a little but jealous. “Really? Since when?”
And thank the gods that he doesn’t ask, with who? because Lucas doesn’t know if he’s quite ready to tell people just yet.
Eliott looks down at his feet, grinning that big, stupid, beautiful grin — and love looks so good on him, he thinks. When he looks up he sees Lucas approach from the hallway but doesn’t enter the room yet, and locks eyes with him while saying, “Since the first moment I saw him.”
And now Lucas feels the air being swiftly knocked out of his lungs once again, instantly being replaced with love — the intense, all-consuming kind. Since the first moment he saw him?
He recalls that moment now, trying to wrap his brain around the fact that Eliott could see anything worthy of love in him at the time, or even now.
It was a spring day, Lucas spent it with his mother at the science center, their favorite place. Although they didn’t have loads of money to afford a membership there, they saved their trips for special occasions, and ended up spending hours in the astronomy exhibits. But on this particular day, there was no special occasion, his mother just woke up that morning and decided they would go, even bought one of those expensive knick knacks for Lucas in the gift shop.
That’s where he met Eliott, he was looking at notebooks with images of the Milky Way on the cover. Eliott smiled at him, and Lucas couldn’t help but give him one in return, inevitably spouting facts about the galaxy to start conversation. The next week they saw each other at school and the rest is history.
It is so overwhelming—this tidbit of information, the memories flooding back, the sheer knowledge of Eliott returning every ounce of his love—that it moves him to where Eliott is standing in the doorway, takes him by the arm out of the apartment and down the hall.
They nearly trip down the stairs, all while not letting go of the other’s hand, laughing like the lovesick idiots they are. If Eliott wants to ask what he’s doing, Lucas doesn’t give him the time to. When they reach the lobby, Lucas can’t stand it and has to drag Eliott into the mailroom; he wastes no time in shutting the door behind them and taking a fistful of the taller boy’s shirt to attach their lips in a heated, passionate kiss. Eliott kisses him back urgently, and Lucas swallows his soft sighs.
They part to come up for air, and Lucas breathes out, teasing but smiling so big he can’t help it.
“Since the first moment you saw me, huh?” There’s a hint of this whole time? And all that time, I could have had this? in his voice. Lucas doesn’t let him answer, he crashes their lips together in another searing kiss before Eliott has the chance.
They part after another minute and look into each other's eyes for the first time that day. Eliott’s are a lot bluer today and seem to be glittering with that rare glint they do sometimes.
“And every moment since.” Eliott’s reply is so sweet as if dripping in honey, and it is so fucking cheesy and romantic that if literally anyone else were to say it he would be sick. But it’s Eliott, saying it to him with that madly-in-love grin, and Lucas could just about burst at the seams with emotion. God, if only fourteen year old Lucas could see him now.
Eliott takes his face in his hands and kisses him again, his hold firm and strong it makes Lucas weak in the knees. He reaches his arms around the taller boy’s waist for leverage, and his neck is starting to get sore from being tipped back so far, but he doesn’t care — as long as Eliott keeps kissing him, touching him like this.
“I love you,” Lucas says into Eliott’s mouth, then moves down to work on Eliott’s neck. “So. Fucking. Much,” he punctuates each word with a kiss.
He can feel more than hear Eliott’s groan when he teases the skin with his teeth, feel Eliott’s hands tangle in his hair at the smooth glide of his tongue that comes after. Lucas adjusts his stance, needing him closer, and places a leg between both of Eliott’s; it’s unclear which one of them makes the sound of pleasure filling the small space. And suddenly their jeans feel like they are getting tighter, so Eliott has to push at Lucas’ shoulder.
“Okay, baby, I love you too, but don’t start something we can’t finish.” Eliott giggles and flicks his eyes around the tiny mailroom, because they are that couple that couldn’t keep it in their pants long enough to leave the building, or go back upstairs to do this.
Lucas looks up at him now, seeing the enamored smile on his boy’s plump lips and meets him with the same one. Both of his hands are now tangled in the fabric of Eliott’s shirt, and he can feel his cheeks flush more from the comment than the kisses.
His mind was too preoccupied to take in the nickname, and when Lucas finally registers it, he turns scarlet. Baby. He swoons. And also maybe feels his jeans get just a little tighter. He can’t seem to stop the stupid giddy smile from growing on his lips and rests his forehead onto the boy’s sternum, out of shyness and just because he can. Lucas plants a kiss to Eliott’s heart, then releases the fabric from his grip and instead rests his hand on Eliott’s heart again.
He can feel the rhythm of it pulsing, imagine the word inked onto it. Life. It’s the blood rushing through their bodies, it’s what makes love possible. And Lucas is so happy that this is his — that he gets to share his life and his love with Eliott. Life, love: they are quite interchangeable, Lucas thinks — you cannot have one without the other.
Lucas laces their fingers together as they walk out of the mailroom and the building, and back into their love-filled lives.
NOV 5 - VENDREDI 19:03
Eliott has invited Lucas to one of the events at the university for applicants and future students where faculty and alumni are available to ask questions and exchange contact information before classes begin. Lucas thinks it’s a little early for it but he doesn’t know anything about uni or film, so he’s just happy to accompany Eliott and meet the people he has been working with.
They are about to walk in the door; Eliott is texting Adriano that they’re here with one hand because his other arm is being clutched by both of Lucas’.
Eliott gets a nametag and a packet of information from the table before entering the large room.
A young man comes up to them and Lucas can immediately recognize him as Adriano.
“Hey, you made it!” he says with a pat on Eliott’s shoulder, which would have made Lucas seethe with envy if he and Eliott weren’t together now. The thought does something to his stomach, a weird sinking feeling he used to be very familiar with.
He’s almost as tall as Eliott, his hair as dark as Eliott’s was on Halloween. His green eyes shift and land on Lucas; they’re kind and welcoming.
Eliott realizes they haven’t met before and introduces them. “Sorry, Lucas this is Adriano, and Adriano this is Lucas, my—” he stops, suddenly aware that they haven’t had the what are we telling people talk yet.
And Lucas immediately finishes with, “Boyfriend.” He extends a hand for Adriano to shake, “Hi, Lucas, the boyfriend.”
And it should be scary to say it out loud, but for some reason it isn’t. Maybe it’s because Eliott told him Adriano was pan too, and there’s a kind quality to Adriano’s gaze.
“Hi, Adriano. Or, I guess you can see that,” he motions to his nametag, smiling. “Nice to meet you, Lucas.”
“Yeah, nice to meet you too. I hear you’ve been working on something,” Lucas turns to Eliott, “but this one has yet to show me any of it.”
“Hey! I told you I would show you when it’s all finished!” his boyfriend exclaims.
“I know, I know. I guess I’m just very curious to see what you have been doing, like 24/7,” Lucas nudges Eliott’s side playfully.
“I mean, he does have a point,” Adriano agrees, and he and Lucas share a look.
Lucas snakes a hand around Eliott’s torso and places a kiss on his cheek while the other two talk about storyboards and drafts.
*
After an hour or two of circling the room and quick conversations with program directors and club presidents, Eliott and Lucas leave the building and take the short walk to the bus stop.
“Eli, you should definitely apply for that short film scholarship thing,” Lucas suggests as they cross a street.
He hates how Eliott’s shoulders tense at the words. “Yeah, I don’t know. If anything I think everyone there made me more intimidated than I already was, and I probably wouldn’t get it anyway.”
“Hey, you don’t know that,” Lucas says softly, squeezes the hand he’s holding in reassurance. “You can think about it, you don’t have to decide now. And even if you don’t win it, it would still be a great opportunity. And I will support you either way,” Lucas tries instead.
“I love you,” is Eliott’s reply, finished with a kiss. He’ll take it.
They continue to walk in silence, hands swinging between them, sharing smiles and kisses here and there. They talk again when they’re seated on the bus back to Eliott’s.
“So...boyfriend? Is that what we’re telling people?” Eliott asks, hesitant but open for Lucas to confirm or deny.
Lucas sighs, then starts, “I mean, yes. But I don’t know if I’m ready to tell the guys or my roommates or anything. If that’s okay?”
“We can do whatever you want, whenever you want to,” Eliott tells him with a hand on his knee. Lucas smiles up at him and thinks he really got lucky with this one.
He can sense Eliott’s eyes on him still, like he’s waiting to bring something up he’s afraid to. And then he asks, “I get that you don’t want to tell your friends yet, I do. Just.. you told Adriano, and it went well?”
Lucas remembers Adriano’s eyes and knowing smile when he said it. “I think it was just easier to tell him, like, I didn’t really know him and I knew he wouldn’t judge, I guess. And with the guys, or the girls...I think they’ll be supportive, but it’s still really fucking terrifying.”
Eliott takes his hand again, rubs his thumb back and forth. “I understand. Coming out is kind of an everyday thing, but it gets a little easier every time. And if they can’t accept it then they don’t deserve you. And I’ll be proud of you either way.” He bumps his shoulder against Lucas’, the words and the gesture making a smile bloom on his face that is soon being kissed again.
NOV 6 - SAMEDI 11:46
NOV 9 - MARDI 17:01
They watch a movie, Comet, on the couch in the coloc, sharing a bowl of popcorn and vanilla ice cream straight from the carton. Eliott’s feet are propped on the coffee table in front of them, legs crossed at the ankles; Lucas’ are laying on top of them, his legs not quite long enough to reach the table from his position on the couch.
The film begins at the Hollywood Forever Cemetery where people are waiting in line to attend a screening on the lawn. In the line, some guy is desperately trying to pick up a girl as another guy watches and eventually intervenes.
He doesn’t know why he says it out loud, but it reminds him of seeing Eliott with Adriano at the film festival all those weeks ago.
“Hey, that day at the film festival, were you— um, were you on a date?”
Eliott keeps his eyes on the screen until the scene is over and snaps back to reality to consider the question. “What?”
“You know..I was with Chloé, and I saw you and— and Adriano holding hands.” His stomach is starting to tie in knots at the memory of that horrible day, the feeling almost unfamiliar now since it has been a while since he felt this way.
Eliott seems to recall that day and turns to fully face Lucas, even though it’s difficult under the weight of the legs on top of his.
“Oh, you mean with Adriano? No! We weren’t on a date. We were there to see the movies of course, but after he dragged me to talk to the program director for EICAR.”
Lucas just looks at him, trying to understand what happened as his stomach keeps churning.
“Like, literally took my hand and dragged me over there because I didn’t have the guts to do it myself,” Eliott continues, voice light and airy.
“Oh,” is all Lucas says.
And this makes Lucas feel guilty, just as he had when he kissed Chloé as the credits rolled. He had no right being jealous of the guy who was just trying to help Eliott get comfortable with talking to the people at the booth. He feels even more guilt at the fact that he didn’t know how nervous Eliott was about pursuing film school, and couldn’t help but feel like a lousy friend for not being there when he was.
“What’s wrong?” Eliott asks when he sees the defeated look on his face.
I’m a terrible friend and a terrible person and I wish I could be half the person you are because for some reason you still keep me around even though I seem to fuck everything up, his brain supplies. Tears start to prick his eyes but he keeps them at bay. It’s a skill he is ashamed to admit he has mastered.
“I’m so sorry I wasn’t there for that, and all of the things I missed because I let stupid things get in the way of being a decent friend.”
“Lucas, it’s okay, really. I know things have been kind of intense lately. Just knowing that you’re there is enough.”
Eliott reaches an arm around Lucas’ shoulder and the latter rests his head on the older boy’s chest. A single tear manages to escape but is quickly wiped away with a shrug of one shoulder.
The voices on the screen fill the space now and Eliott says, “I’ve always wanted to go there!” shifting excitedly on the couch.
Lucas laughs, “We will have to go then, when you are nominated for an Oscar and then your movie will be the one playing on that building.”
“Yeah, okay,” he agrees with a tight-lipped grin.
Lucas nudges their shoulders together and leans into Eliott’s side.
*
“Okay, how did the writer crawl inside my brain and make Dell the American version of me?” Lucas says, sitting up with his legs criss-crossed.
“What are you talking about?”
“He just said he’s a ‘five minutes from now person’ and how he’s too busy thinking of the next minute to enjoy the one he’s living. I will say he is more bold than I will ever be, though. Who says something like ‘I’m probably going to fall in love with you’ to the person he just met?”
Lucas and Eliott share a look, one that says oh yeah, Eliott would.
“You’re right, though. This guy is a genius. He’s actually married to the actress who plays Kimberly.”
Lucas loves that Eliott gets to be the nerd for once and playfully shoves at him until getting comfortable in his arms again.
NOV 10 - JEUDI 18:32
What started as a study date got increasingly unbearable for Lucas to keep still when he and Eliott were alone in his apartment.
Lucas starts kissing him, and Eliott still tries to talk but Lucas swallows all his words and hums. He eventually puts his hands on Lucas’ chest to pull their mouths away; his hands stay there even when Lucas whines and tries to lunge forward.
“C’mon, baby, you can take a break, you’ve been at this for hours,” Lucas turns to the laptop now sitting on the coffee table.
“I know, I’m just kind of stressed about this stupid assignment. It’s not due until Monday but still.”
“Perfect, then you have time for a break,” Lucas tries again.
They have a short staring contest — Eliott holding back from giving in when he so clearly wants to, and Lucas practically burning with desire waiting for him to do just that.
“Yeah, I guess I do,” Eliott finally admits with his signature shrug, and that glint in his eyes from the mailroom the other day.
Lucas takes it as a cue and throws a leg over Eliott’s body, knees on either side of him digging into the couch cushions. Eliott’s hands find their way to Lucas’ hips as if on instinct, and the latter lowers himself to sit on Eliott’s lap, still straddling him.
They meet in the middle for a kiss, slow and languid as they let each other lick into their mouths. Then Eliott’s hands travel slowly up and down Lucas’ thighs and eventually rest on his hips with a firm grip. Lucas lets his arms twist around Eliott’s neck and on the back of the couch, sometimes moving down to grip at his hair.
Both can feel the other growing hard at the close proximity of their clothed crotches - and this is about as far as they have gone until now.
Maybe Eliott wants to give Lucas an out, let him know that they don’t have to continue if he’s not comfortable and he would be more than okay to stop, when he says, breathless, “Lucas, we don’t have to—”
And Lucas wants nothing more than to keep going, so he assures him, but not without being a teasing little shit about it.
“Well, maybe I started something I want to finish.” Lucas looks down at him with a devilish grin, feeling confident at the way Eliott reacts with a gulp and dark eyes.
And what comes next is involuntary, but rewarding — Lucas starts to swivel his hips back and forth and in figure eights, which earns a deep moan out of Eliott, so he continues until suddenly his shirt is thrown on the floor. Lucas keeps up the movement of his hips, in need of friction for their now fully hard erections.
Eliott’s shirt follows soon after. Their mouths hang open, panting while their gazes meet, pupils blown out in lust and a mutual feeling of holy shit are we actually doing this?
So hands roam and hair is pulled and foreheads get sweaty. Eliott noses down Lucas’ throat until teeth sink in and his tongue slides around, the latter throwing his head back in pleasure as well as allowing more access. Then pants are being unzipped, skin is touching skin, and open-mouthed kisses are being peppered everywhere. Hands travel south and more moans and groans are released, ah, fuck and shit, oh god fill the air, which grows hotter with each passing second.
And it’s funny that Lucas doesn’t even think about the fact that he’s never done this before—with anyone —or that he is probably the least experienced person Eliott has been with, or that they are getting off on the same couch Eliott watches movies with his parents on, or that he is doing so with his best-friend-turned-boyfriend. He doesn’t think about any of it because, well, he doesn’t have the time to, and all his brain can do is scream more, more, more and Eliott, Eliott, Eliott.
It feels fucking good, like, amazingly good; he gets it now, when people say it feels so good that they see stars. Lucas comes first, but he lasts longer than he thought he would, and he also doesn’t really fucking care, when a pleasure like this exists.
Eliott finishes with a fuck, Lucas—, then Lucas swings his leg around and crashes against the couch next to him.
They take their time catching their breath while basking in the post-orgasm haze.
“Woah,” Lucas lets the word fall from his lips, chest heaving.
“Yeah, woah,” Eliott breathes out.
They burst into giggles and Eliott eventually rests his head on Lucas’ shoulder before cleaning up and getting dressed.
“Thank god your mom didn’t see...that.”
NOV 11 - VENDREDI 16:17
Yann and Lucas go for burgers and hang out like they used to before Lucas started being weird and distant. Now, he feels like he’s finally in a good place and wants to tell Yann about it.
“Everything good?” Yann asks as he picks up two fries.
“Yeah, actually.” Lucas sips his drink and tries to hide his smile. “So, you know how you told me to..tell Eliott how I feel?”
Yann finishes his bite and looks up at his friend eagerly but with caution. “Yeah? And?”
“And...hes my boyfriend now,” he says, bashful and turning pink at the confession. It’s so strange that he gets to call Eliott his boyfriend, but he gets a thrill every time he can say it.
“Lucas! Dude, that’s awesome. I’m so happy for you. Really,” he reaches across the table for his hand in one of those cliché bro handshake hugs made awkward by their distance and piles of food on the surface. Lucas has never felt more relieved, more like himself.
“Thanks. I couldn’t have done it without you, you know,” it sounds light but he really means it, without that push he doesn’t know if he would have ever let himself admit his feelings for Eliott. Maybe there’s an alternate universe where a Lucas didn’t have the courage. But he refuses to believe it.
NOV 14 - DIMANCHE 19:50
Lucas is at home and fell asleep while watching bad reality TV after finishing his homework and having dinner. He would go out with Eliott but his aunt and uncle are in town for his dad’s birthday so the couldn’t. His phone starts to ring against the wooden coffee table and he reaches for it without checking to see who’s calling.
“Hello?”
“Lucas,” Eliott’s voice sounds somber through the phone. “Have you heard of Pale Blue Dot?”
It’s not at all the greeting he was expecting from him and has no idea where this came from.
He has, of course, but it sounds more like a rhetorical question, so he just stays silent to let Eliott continue.
Lucas thinks he can hear him swallow, then, “Well, Pale Blue Dot is the mission from 1990, where Voyager 1 took a look at our planet from the edge of the Solar System. It was so far away, like, 6 billion kilometers, that Earth only looked like a pale blue dot.”
His voice is thinner now, like Eliott’s signature cadence and tone have been replaced with a robotic-like version.
“And it just makes me think, you know, that we are so small, so miniscule. That nothing we do matters, because how could it? That nothing I have ever done or will ever do matters.”
A moment of silence on both ends. Lucas sits up straight and gets dizzy from the speed of the motion.
“And I’m looking at the stars right now, and all the planets, and...”
Wait. Eliott is looking at the stars, now? He must be at La Petite Ceinture. Lucas throws on a hoodie and his blue jacket and is out the door without a second thought.
When he runs down the stairs and through the lobby, he can’t help but think of a few days ago when Eliott was giggling and skipping behind him, an image so far in contrast to the one he makes now, alone. And when Lucas runs to the bus stop, he stops in his tracks. It’s pouring rain outside.
“Wait, Eliott, where are you? Are you safe?” he asks through the phone pressed to his ear, out of breath, his hair and clothes drenched already.
Except Eliott doesn’t answer. He just continues on his tangent and makes Lucas more worried with each word, “So why should I care about making a future for myself if I’ll just end up going into oblivion? We live on a tiny speck of dust, in the grand scheme of things. There’s no way anything I do is going to change that.”
His voice is robotic and matter-of-fact. Like he’s made up his mind about all this. And when he takes shelter back in the lobby, Lucas doesn’t hear rain at all on the other line.
And then it hits him. The only place that Eliott could possibly be looking at the stars and planets right now, in Paris, where even the weather couldn’t hinder it. And thank the heavens, because it is much closer than the park where they stargazed that one night.
“Eliott, I know where you are, and I’m coming, okay? Please, just stay where you are until I get there. We’ll talk then, okay?”
Lucas runs, and runs and runs, until he reaches the door. The people inside are about to lock it, but Lucas urgently informs them that he needs to see someone inside immediately. The receptionist lets him in, and he goes straight to the planetarium.
The room is extremely dark, save for the glow of the images presented on the dome-shaped ceiling and the small orange dashed lines on the floor. He follows the trail of orange until he spots a bare knee peeking out of ripped jeans, that belongs to the messy head of hair leaning back in the seat. Lucas sits next to him and tries to regain his breath and let his eyes adjust to the darkness. He is so relieved to have found him.
“Hey,” Lucas rests his hand on top of Eliott’s, which is resting in the older boy’s lap. “I’m here.” Lucas squeezes his hand and exhales, “I’m here.” Perhaps more to himself than to Eliott this time.
Eliott tries to hide his face, but it is difficult to do so when the seats are positioned to lean back and toward the ceiling. The dim glow of the universe above highlights the tear tracks on his cheeks, and Lucas just wants to hug him so tight and so close that nothing could ever harm him ever again.
But he’s seen this too many times to know that the catalyst responsible for the pain Eliott is experiencing is in his own head, and not from external demons. He also knows how careful he must be around Eliott when he gets like this — to not be overbearing and swooping in like he needs a savior, because he doesn’t; he knows Eliott just needs to be reminded that he is loved and he is valid for feeling whatever he is feeling, and that Lucas is there when he’s ready.
Lucas has learned not to say something like it will all be okay or everything will be alright because he knows that is just a bullshit lie he’s been told too many times in his life — both of them, actually. Because if everything was alright and if everything was okay, they wouldn’t be here and wouldn’t have to go through the pain that these words couldn’t even make go away.
“Eli, look at me,” he says softly, turning to see him better and slowly place his hand on Eliott’s face to guide it towards him. When Eliott finally does look at him, he seems so fragile, like the light inside his eyes has burned out.
It’s like his eyes are a transit — a phenomenon where exoplanets are discovered to be orbiting another body through the dimming of the star’s light. His eyes are enormous stars that shine so bright, but now that light is dimmed by something that passes in front of it. What is it that is taking your light away? Lucas wants to ask. What caused this downward spiral and darkened everything in its path? And what can I do to stop it, to help?
The sight makes tears well in Lucas’ eyes, wishing he could somehow take all the pain and hurt away. But he doesn’t let them fall, refuses to fall apart when Eliott needs him whole right now.
The good thing about this, however, is that that light never stops shining — it is just temporarily being blocked from the outside viewer. Much like a cloud blocking the Sun, it will pass. And that light will come again, because it always does.
Lucas knows that light is still somewhere inside and will do anything to get it back.
“I know it can seem like we don’t matter when the universe is so big, and scary, sometimes. And you are allowed to feel however you feel. But you do matter. You matter, Eliott.” Lucas takes a few breaths, his grasp on Eliott’s hand still strong.
“You matter to me.” It comes out quiet and softer than his other words, lacing it with all the love and care he can muster to drive the point home, because Lucas can’t even fathom a universe without Eliott in it, without loving and being loved by him.
“And you know, when I feel small and insignificant, I like to think about the Copernican principle. I am not sorry for getting nerdy this time, we are in a planetarium, after all.” Lucas tries to lighten the mood briefly, tries to take some of the weight off both their shoulders.
Eliott seems more relaxed now, sitting up slightly to engage with what Lucas is about to say. Eliott looks at him as if communicating, what do you mean?
It’s this moment when Lucas sees the book Lucas was reading that one day in the library, when Eliott took his hand and told him that what he likes isn’t stupid. The book is shoved between the cushion and the armrest on the opposite side of Eliott from him.
“The Copernican principle — as in Copernicus, who found that the Sun is the center of our Solar System, not Earth — states that ‘we as humans are not privileged observers of the universe’. Because we tend to make everything about ourselves, including thinking the system of planets revolves around us. When it in fact does not,” Lucas laughs a little at the last sentence, even raises an index finger in the air to emphasize the point.
(And, okay, maybe Arthur had a point on Halloween.)
Lucas sits back in his chair, bringing their hands to rest in his lap now. They look at the vast universe above them, reminding them that they are a part of it, not just looking at it from afar. And Lucas thinks, it really does work in mysterious ways. It’s both comforting and terrifying, a home and an escape, infinite but with so many bounds.
“And it could also mean that there is extraterrestrial life out there somewhere. Because aliens definitely exist, I mean, there’s just no way we are the only living beings in the infinite universe. So, we are not alone,” You are not alone, goes unsaid.
When he looks back at Eliott, his eyes are closed and his chest is rising and falling with his deep breaths. Lucas presses a kiss to the back of the hand he’s holding, and then another for good measure.
“Thank you.” Eliott’s voice is thick with emotion now, still sad and somber, but Eliott. Like the slightest glimpse of his light breaking through.
The door opens and lets in the light from the lobby, signaling to Lucas they have overstayed their welcome.
“As much as I could go on about aliens and as much as I would love to stay here with you, I think we should let these people go home. And we should too.”
Lucas stands and tucks the book into his jacket. Eliott lets him take him through the doors and back out to the street, where Eliott immediately pulls him in for a hug that is as tight and warm as possible on the damp and cold evening.
It’s not raining nearly as hard as before, but still sprinkling. They have weathered worse storms than this one, so it’s nothing they can’t handle.
Yes! Pretty Cure 5 Episodes 25-49 + Movie
So... this happened.
This second half of Yes! 5 was... boring.
Yeah, it had its moments, but overall? It was pretty lackluster. And, I know Yes isn't the most eventful season, as I mentioned on the first post, this is a character-focused show so the plot won't move much until it needs to, proof of that is the Pinky collecting thing that is never on the front seat and when we see it they are in the final 4 episodes and there's only one missing for them to complete the collection. The thing is that the characters part was pretty... problematic?
I don't know if it's because they knew a second season would be coming that they decided to go very light in character development in order to focus on something else, but this second half lacked a lot in this department. Again, they had great moments, Milk, Karen, and Rin probably got the best development out of the cast, but when we look at everything together we see that there were still things that lacked quite a bit.
Another thing that was weird was the timing for the villains, the pacing in which a new villain would come and an old one would go was very weird, there were villains we spent more time with than we should and there were villains that we didn't get enough time to leave an impression and you can say that the precure stuff is actually the less important part of Yes so this isn't that big of a deal, but it's still an element that is present so I think it's okay for me to complain about it. Also, I kinda dislike how they ended the villains, not the part of sealing Despariah and such, but they were going for a "let's talk our way out of this" approach and they were building up for a good moment but they brought Kawarino back for that moment and it kinda ruined it.
But the thing I hated the most, and that made it almost unbearable for me to watch in this second half, was the whole romance thing. Pick everything I said about it in the first post, multiply that for 10, and that's pretty much how I felt about it in this second half. On the first portion it was bad, but in the second half this gets horrible, they shove you the romance thing in the face in whatever opportunity they have and it's just hideous. They made an entire episode where the conflict was Nozomi being jealous of Coco. They had an episode about marriage and each girl fantasized about their wedding and in Nozomi's fantasy Coco was the freaking groom. Heck, they even made something romantic out of a ghost. This was gross, this is definitely the worst aspect of Yes, and because it was so present in this second half I've lost a lot of my interest for this season.
But not everything was worse, in comparison with the first half, the animation has gotten a lot better, there are still ugly drawings and clunky animation, but they improved a lot. Also, the action got better, the attack spam is still there, but they had more fights, they were more creative which made things more fun. Heck, they made Aqua joust with one of the villains in one episode and that was freaking cool. Also, I like that despite having a group attack they only use it to defeat the generals so it feels like something that is very powerful and special and I think this is something we've been missing in precure lately. So, as I said, not everything was worse.
I think that's all I have for general comments, let's jump down to the characters.
It was hard to follow Nozomi around, everything related to her character ended up being about Coco. She was there for her friends and everything, but still, every decision her character made was centered around Coco, even when she finally chose a dream to pursue, that dream was because of Coco, and it's sad that a character with so much potential was reduced to just a planet orbiting around this freaking mascot.
Rin was a bit complicated, I think they've picked the "precure of passion" thing a little too literal and almost all Rin focused episodes had a romantic thing involved. They never pair her with anyone, which is great, but is kinda sad her whole thing was just that, we didn't get to see her interact with her family, we didn't get to see her playing futsal, the bare development we got for her was while she was with Karen as they started to tighten their bond inside their friendly rivalry, which was awesome, don't get me wrong, but I wish she had gotten more. But I like that she decided to be an accessory/jewelry designer as her dream because it wasn't the most obvious path for her, or for a red cure for that matter.
Poor Urara got a bit faded, I can't remember much of what she has done in this latter half. She remains great and all, and she had a very sweet bonding episode with Komachi near the end, but other than that she didn't do much other than just tag along for most of these episodes. And that's pretty sad, in the first half she was my favorite character but after this part where her light was a bit dimmed I'm afraid she may have lost the position.
Komachi had a similar situation as Nozomi, a lot of what she has done had Nuts influence on it, but I think it worked better with her because her entire goal wasn't to get together with Nuts, it was more like he was always hanging around her rather than she pursuing her. It's still an awful relationship because it's an adult and a kid, and Nuts freaking sucks as a human, but it didn't offend me as much. Also, Komachi got to do more stuff that didn't necessarily have to be involved with Nuts, we got to see more of her friendship with Karen, she grown closer to Urara and now wants to write a play/script/story that she can act, and she got great interactions with Rin because the whole telling scary stories thing. So I think her deal was more balanced.
The best of this second half, at least to me, was Karen. She was freaking awesome, I like that they paired her with Milk, it seemed like a relationship that shouldn't work because I didn't see how they could bond, but it was great, and I like that was something that was escalating slowly and it reached its peak in the episode where Milk gets sick and Karen wants to take care of her. Karen and Rin were also great, as I mentioned. I wasn't really into their rivalry in the first half but they got to work it very well here in this portion of the series, it evolved from just a dumb thing to an "I have a strong personality, just like you, and I have this vision of world about something that I won't let go of it, but I respect you and I know how to hear you and comprehend you points", it's a simple but complex thing that worked very well and that I'm glad they went with this route for these two.
Milk was also a tricky character, she was unbearable whenever she interacted with Nozomi (though she had a few points some times), she was in the mix of fun and obnoxious whenever the thing was about Coco and Nuts, and she was absurdly cute when she and Karen tagged along, so her character was a bit of a roller-coaster. I think by now I like her because I understand she just wants to be useful to the people she likes and it's a feeling I can relate too, but I admit she has her problems and she can be a handful to deal with.
Coco and Nuts shouldn't exist, they don't have an arc, they don't have development, they don't have a purpose, they're there just to push this ridiculous romantic bullshit that we don't need. Heck, Masuko Mika did in a single episode more than these double-sided plushies did in 49 episodes and a movie, she grew, she developed, she was fun, we should've got more of her and less of them. Thinking about them makes me pissed, thinking about how they're basically two different persons in their fairies and human forms because they wanna hammer down the idea that they're attractive makes me want to jump in front of a truck. I freaking hate them. Sorry, not sorry.
I wanted to talk about the villains, but there's pretty much nothing to be said. Like, from Bunbees subordinates that remained, they were already doing extra hour at this point, Bunbee being relocated to a new section but with less power seemed like could be fun but they didn't do much with it, the new staff introduced could've been great, but they were around for such a short amount of time, I think Bloody had only 4? episode where he acted as the villain, that's less than Pissard and Karehan got and they were the level 1 bosses, it was pretty ridiculous. Kawarino was cool, I think he's very scary and very creepy, but they kinda ruined him when they gave him his monster form, that wasn't 50% as intimidating as "human" Kawarino was. And Despariah was a letdown, she seemed so powerful and menacing but then her wish was to be immortal because she wanted to be young forever? I know this could be their attempt to make an allegory to how beauty standards are very oppressive to women, but this was in 2007 and I don't know if they would do that so early on in the franchise.
I was going to wrap things up now, but I managed to watch the movie before the post went out even though I forgot to download it together with the episodes, so here are my thoughts in the movie.
The Mirror Kingdom's Miraculous Adventure!
This is going to be short, I promise. This movie was a mixed bag, I was entertained, but this could've been way better. The concept of the Dark Precure is great, and they look amazing, but I feel like they weren't used to their full potential, first because it takes quite sometime before the five of them attack, and also the fact they keep cutting the battles to show everyone else kinda weakens them because I couldn't really feel how menacing or how their psyche was. Shadow was pretty bland, and the movie fairies were also very whatever, but the plot was very decent if we ignore the miracle light portion. But the thing this movie does that I can't forgive them is that they give all cures a power-up but they don't fight in that form, they just perform their attack, and that was very anti-climatic, especially considering the action for this movie was quite good
Wrapping up, Yes! Pretty Cure 5 is a decent season, it tried to do something different and that's worthy of praise, sadly they took some dumb decisions about the things they wanted to work, It's fun and has good characters but the romance element ruins it a lot, It's probably my least favorite of the four seasons I've covered so far. Thankfully they have another season so they can pull a Max Heart and be incredible so I'm both hopeful and excited for starting GoGo in the next week. What are your thoughts about Yes! 5? Share them with me in the comments. Thank you so much for sticking with me and reading this insanely huge post, I really appreciate it. I'll see you all around. Bye-bye~
