i'm bored, , so here's what i think of each lost boy
i'm gonna do this one vamp at a time so i don't get overwhelmed, starting off with this mullet king
Tumblr media
david
• he's a self - proclaimed leader
since he's the first turned and seemingly the most mature one, as each boy joined the gang, he took it upon himself to look after everyone. cause he cared for them ? that could be a factor, but also cause of his controlling nature
• he loves to read
david seems like he secretly loves to read, and im talking about newspapers, too. he even has reading glasses. and i would know this cause i am the glasses. anyway, as far as genres, maybe horror, mystery, and throw in a little romance from time to time
• he is the most possessive of his belongings
this man does NOT share. and he will be mad if he catches anybody besides him with his stuff
• he is the smartest
okay so i'm not calling the others stupid, vampires in general are intelligent beings. i'm just saying david is extremely smart, but this is also what makes him very, very good at manipulation. a master manipulator, if you will. and it's not just with the mind games he can play, with his words, his expressions. he knows exactly what to do or say to get you
• anger issues
something tells me if he's not the one who comes up and speaks to you first, don't even try. he would probably just ignore you or tell you to go away. this is probably something he picked up from his father (not max), and i don't necessarily think it's shown in the movie, just from his energy, makes me think that
• not the biggest fan of sweets
i keep switching from serious to silly things, but that's just how i roll, anywayy. he doesn't hate sweets or candy, just could live without them. he hates the stomach ache you can get after, and probably how sugary they are. the only sweet i think he can handle is cookies, more specifically snickerdoodles
• david has the highest level of maturity
i've actually read about this on here, i can't remember the person's user, but i just remember how they talked of how he dresses and how he talks, and i have to say i agree. he does indeed dress and talk completely different from his three vampire bros. this also makes me think that david is definitely an old soul and he was probably forced to grow up instead of having the freedom of being a wild and care-free child
• black and red are his favorite colors
more specifically darker shades of red, he hates bright colors. probably would complain it's hurting his poor eyes and he's going blind
• cares about his health.. a lot
there's absolutely nothing wrong with caring about your health. although the man's main diet is bl0od, clearly they can still eat human food. he eats junk food still and is definitely always down for some pasta or a good burger, but he tries to maintain a healthy way of eating. maybe he tried encouraging the other boys to do so, but gave up cause he was getting no where
• keeps things clean
if he sees a mess, he cleans it. or gets one of the others to clean it cause they caused it. the cave is definitely organized, and that was probably thanks to David. cause you can see during any cave scene how it's an organized mess
• his favorite food is pasta
already mentioned this briefly, but please he would fck up olive garden. i just know they would hate to see him coming
• despises loud noises
this includes the TV being too loud, loud crunching, any kind of beeping and so on. it pisses him off
• stupid nicknames
can't stand them. the other boys definitely have silly nicknames for him like 'pookie' and 'davey' and so on, and he wants to curl up every time
• early birdy
as soon as the sun sets, david is the first to wake up. mainly cause he loves night time. even before he was turned, he was always a night owl. he probably snuck out into a field near his childhood house a few times
• writing
there's really no doubt in my mind that david loves to write. he has many journals stored away cause he considers them personal. he has such a high guard up that whenever somethings wrong, he turns to paper and pen. he also has the most beautiful handwriting out of all of them
☆ what he could've been
i feel like if david was never turned, he would've wanted to be in a major career. he would've been an excellent psychologist. he would've wanted to start his own family, and have kids, probably out in the west.
he misses this at times, the chances and hopes that he lost, but despite that, i actually think he loves being a vampire. he loves the chase, the thrill of it all. he loves doing whatever he wants, whenever he pleases
one last thing, this man loves music. all 4 of them do, really. i feel like he'd listen to anything that isn't rap or pop. he also listens to country but doesn't let the other boys know that, they'd probably never let him live it down
Tumblr media
let me know what you think ! whether you agree or disagree, i'm open-minded
i love david, honestly. i know he wouldn't love me back, cause I mean, have we watched the same movie ? but he's still my pookie bear

Yk..i feel like i would enjoy Deadpool and Wolverine more if i liked these versions of the chsracters as much as everyone else seems to. And it's not that i hate them or anything, but they're just not MY guys, Hughs Wolverine is a tall ruggedly handsome leading man who's a typical berserker, the Wolverine i am into is a short, kinda ugly feral asshole that's both the biggest badass in the room but also a weeb bookworm and an unintentional adoptive father/older brother with his dumb fucking hair and side-burns and dresses like a bisexual lumberjack/cowboy, he hates poachers and loves petting deer, and he can talk to animals making him a Disney princess too. The movies just don't give me that, it's too serious, too embarassed of itself, Logan isn't enough of an unlikeable messy asshole in the movies, he's not explosive enough, he's a very Clint Eastkwood type. And same for Wade, i like Ryans Wade well enough, but he's too clean, too marketable, too empty and dumb. I am just not into them, they're too pretty, too nice, too clean, too marketable, they're made into more typical leading types and i am not a fan.....God, sorry for that rant.
hey. i love these versions of the characters and i hated the movie. i honestly really do like movie-pool - i just hated him here. i love hugh jackman's wolverine. but this –
i get that logan is quite a different character in the movies vs other interpretations of him, and it is downheartening that we might not ever get a more faithful to comics adaptation of logan onto the big screen but - i don't know, i'm not too sad about it because everyone always has their own version of a character in their head. my version of peter parker will never be the same as the guy on screen.
i like hugh jackman's wolverine plenty. i think hugh is great. i love his wolverine. but - this isn't even his wolverine. this wolverine is a stranger. and actually - that kind of means something. it means it's not the wolverine we've been invested in all these years, and it's not the wolverine we cried over during logan. it's not him. it's just some guy. and that's - that's not great. we don't really know this guy. i think that's the thing. the film thinks it's enough to squeeze hugh into yellow spandex and all the fans will do the heavy lifting because WOOOAAAH it's the costume we all recognise but. underneath that costume is a guy we've never seen before. never introduced to before. isn't even the guy we invested decades of films with. they're asking us to project our expectations on him, overtly. wade does it. laura does it, yadda yadda. but that's not him. it's pointedly not him. it's a blank slate in wolverine's clothing that we're meant to project our expectations on. so. you need to actually put the work in to make us care about this guy. we care about him SOLELY because of our expectations of him, based on all the familiar iconography. the suit, hugh jackman, the claws... this movie is dependant ENTIRELY on you being able to recognise things and attach meaning to them. otherwise, there's no actual substance there.
if you didn't know the yellow suit from the comics you'd probably look at it and say "that's a stupid suit" - that's it. they're just banking on you overlooking the objective stupidity of it, because you recognise it and therefore it must be important and not stupid.
i think it was a bad move to make this a different wolverine. i think it was a bad move to have this movie follow-up on the events of logan - i think it was all bad moves. it should've been our logan, of wade's era. it doesn't even make sense for this to happen after logan. logan is set after the x-men are gone. so how is colossus and negasonic and yukio there and how did wade have all those x-men shenanigans in previous movies? that's fine. who cares. no rules.
it's just maddening to me. 10000 decisions that crumble immediately under any sort of scrutiny whatsoever. can't do it. can't do it.

i am back to state my case on seteth x jeralt! being totally honest the biggest appeal of this ship is less about the actual romantic chemistry and moreso about how interesting their interactions could be IF THEY HAD ANY !! the fact that they are both connected to the church and have a history with rhea and they don't speak to each other like AT ALL in canon is nuts to me. there's so many missed conversation opportunities of things they have in common on top of having ties to rhea. they both enjoy fishing. they are both fathers. they both are inhumanly old yet don't physically show it. they both hold a lot of secrets. they both have children they want to protect - seteth could learn a lot of parenting tips from jeralt, and vice versa, since....both of them definitely have room to improve, to say the least. DJaimon illustrated some supports between seteth and jeralt that played no small part in leading me to think they need to talk to each other SO BAD.
having no supports even in the spinoff which was created for the sole purpose of giving us more fe3h content is unbelievable. jeralt got supports with manuela (love her, but why?) but didn't get supports with seteth or alois. alois, y'know, someone who considers jeralt like a father figure, comparing himself to byleth as like an older brother? jeralt even has a whole paralogue battle with byleth and leonie. and i know it's been discussed here before that it's unrealistic to expect writers to write supports for every single character pairing, but come on. at least in fewth this would've been the closest jeralt would get to having a support chain with rhea, which would've been so interesting. but oh well. he doesn't speak a single word to seteth. seteth, who is rhea's closest confidant and yet knows so little about why jeralt left the church. seteth, who oversaw the knights of seiros while he was leading it. seteth, who grows close to his child and has his daughter join their class. that requires so much trust.
even though they dont canonically interact, they have every reason to, and its impossible for them to have not interacted in the past. jeralt was the head of the knights of seiros and very close to rhea, and since seteth both oversees the knights of seiros and is close to rhea, of course he would have interacted with him. i think there is a very interesting dynamic to be had here. especially considering jeralt eventually betrays rhea due to what she did to his child and flees, but does come back to the church, that gives seteth so much reason to question him. he already questions if byleth can be trusted, but when he finds out more about why jeralt left (reading his diary), he starts to question rhea ("what did you do to that baby, rhea? nothing...questionable, i should hope?"), sowing seeds of mistrust. i think jeralt's interference with rhea can provide so much conflict for seteth. i think seteth should suffer more and battle within himself whether he is doing the right thing siding with rhea or not. and knowing jeralt, he would probably challenge seteth more directly on that. theres so many things they can bond over. theres so many things they can challenge one another's beliefs over. theres so much to talk about and yet they never get to talk and it makes me explode inside.
and finally, why they would be a good couple ..... idk man i just like dilfs. this is the old man yaoi all the cool kids are talking about. there's fluctuating power dynamics and trust issues and fatherly bonding and all kinds of things that could be explored. plus, i really like seteth as a character and have wanted to ship him with someone, but seteth x byleth has never appealed to me. most byleth ships aren't appealing to me personally. but seteth x byleth's dad.... oh boy. there's so much to be explored here helped in no small part by zero canon interaction. these are prime shipping conditions. all of it is up to interpretation and fan creation. and brother i'm about to go buck wild. in fact, i already have. who's with me!!!!

Ultraman: Rising!
Tumblr media
Sure we all know the Power Rangers reboot has been passed on at Netflix but instead we have this hot new piece of toku instead: Ultraman: Rising! And I finally got the chance to check it out last night.
I know Ultraman is one of the big toku/kaiju genre staples but it's never really been on my radar of things to watch. I'm not sure why! I guess Super Sentai/Power Rangers just has more of the it factor that appeals to me. So because of that I really have no context to the story besides it's a guy who can turn into a giant silver superhero that beats up kaiju.........or maybe it's an alien who looks like a human and the silver superhero is his true form? or maybe the human and the silver superhero are two separate beings that share the same body? idk. It's probably all three of those things depending on the series. But this film was marketed as a standalone that new fans could enjoy AND....the big one.....it's ANIMATED, so I felt more inclined to check it out.
And it was really really good!! I enjoyed it a lot!
Spoiler-ish thoughts on the film below:
= Let's get this out of the way: the biggest draw to this was the animation and art direction, and yeah, it slaps. The textures and stylization (always love 2D painted effect animation on explosions and things) and lighting were a full-course meal and the scenes where they focused on Ultraman's shining eyes staring through a window or computer screen were just SO striking. To the point where I feel that if I got around to watching the actual live-action Ultraman, it might feel a little underwhelming in comparison. Oops
= It does kind of fall in the cliches of the "selfish guy learns maturity by having to be a father" plot (with bonus "son is estranged from his dad and mom is missing but they work to improve their relationship" sprinkled in) which makes me appreciate The Return even more (sorry, I'm still Returnpilled) but it's still charming and I can hope if we get more movies they give a little more focus to Ami and Emiko (speaking of which, I know they weren't doing a romance this movie, but Ami having a daughter and the movie being about Ken raising a daughter? oh you know it's happening and I'm here for this because they're both so hot)
= I think Ken is also a better example of the "showboating egotistical hero who learns to mature" than most because the movie isn't afraid to show him vulnerable even before his character development. I was genuinely surprised at that scene where he starts crying out of the stress of balancing his baseball career and figuring out Emi
= Apparently there was some discussion that the movie didn't bring up Ultraman's origins which, as someone who knows next to nothing about Ultraman, that didn't really bother me? Obviously I can still give more benefit of the doubt than people who don't know much about the tokusatsu/kaiju genre to begin with, but even so, I was still pretty down with the concept of "this guy has the ability to turn into a giant silver superpowered man and passed the ability down to his son" - and I think in the age of superhero blockbusters in general the idea isn't that farfetched that it requires more explanation. In any case it's a bit of a moot point since future movies are clearly going to talk about Ultras and their origins more, based on the stinger.
= Is Emi a clear kid-appeal character meant to be shown off in marketing and merchandising because of how squishy and cute she is? Yes. Is she just so fucking squishy and cute and my newest baby child? YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEES. I am not immune to monster baby. I think it helps that I always found the old monster screeches cute and applying them to a baby babbling was kinda genius in its execution. And I'm glad they kind of got the obligatory "haha babies poop and are smelly and gross" jokes out of the way early (yeah they had the whole "acid reflux" thing in the second act but I've seen way worse in other media)
= The subtitles calling Sato's Ultra form "Ultradad" and his Ultra mustache were both really funny
= Obviously I knew Ken wasn't going to die when he threw himself on Dr. Onda's mech (btw the mech was sexy) but I definitely expected a little more than just a busted arm with how they were building up how the blast would have "destroyed them all" kdjkfdj maybe they cut to after he had recovered a bit. Though in general I'm not quite sure of how durable Ultraman is
= Kind of a milf. reblog

how would you rank bat-children from bruce's least favorite to favorite? also i'd say do the same for ollie's kids but he would kill himself if you made him do that (mia still his fav though)
oh my god you guys do want me dead💀
I'll be honest, i don't think there's much value to be found in 'rank-the-favorites' discussions. like the honest answer is 'it depends' and i just don't think it's productive. I do think that in most cases wrt relationships with bruce, dick is always going to come out on top. as i've said those two are just on a whole other level. they Know Each Other in a way that no one else will even come close to. I don't think it's controversial to posit that actually raising dick from childhood adds a layer to the relationship bruce has with him that really can't be replicated with anyone else. like...jason was with him for 2-3ish years as a tweenager, cass and tim were adopted in their mid teens. meanwhile bruce was effectively dick's parent from age 8 onwards.
I also think the timing is something that would be almost impossible to replicate. dick entered the picture very early into bruce's years as batman. bruce was the one solid thing in dick's life after his parents died. they were literally each other's crutches through all that emotional turmoil and became, for better or for worse, extremely codependent. all that to say, dick and bruce's relationship is just so crazy insane that pretty much nothing compares. he just has the advantage. you can't recreate the mind bogglingly deep connection 25 yo bruce had with 8yo dick grayson it just can't be done.
on the other hand, cass also has something with bruce that can't be replicated by anyone else: she is Exactly Fucking Like Him. she is his carbon copy. they Get each other's rock-solid convictions & moral code sooo deeply. fandom tends to use this as evidence to point towards cass being the favorite child, but like as greta mysterycitrus has eloquently said in the past, she is exactly like him (derogatory). bruce obviously loves cass deeply, that is his daughter, but I don't think having that relationship with her is always easy for him. her existence points out some uncomfortable truths about himself that he doesn't always want to confront. I mean... if you were to meet yourself as a seventeen year old it would probably be weird as FUCK lol. I especially think the fact that cass has killed someone really fucks with his head and forces him to reevaluate his own morals/worldview.
and like...I don't think he always treats cass fairly. we see it over and over again in bg 2000. he thinks he knows what's best for her because he sees himself in her, but the things he thinks are best for himself are Not Healthy to say the least. he intentionally keeps himself at a distance because he initially did not want that close, father-daughter relationship with her: it was strictly batman and batgirl. and he thought that's what she wanted/needed. but being so singlemindedly driven to a cause with no boundaries or normal life is not exactly the best way to go for a teenager. so I think those two had a lot to figure out when the dust settled.
I have much fewer thoughts about jason, tim and damian simply because they are not my blorbos like dick and cass are lmfao. i do think tim deserves a whole lot of credit for stepping in to save bruce and helping when bruce was at his lowest. like. that was obviously NOT easy lol. bruce and tim are interesting because bruce held himself back from being a father to tim for so long, when jack was still in the picture. but when it comes to a head and tim gets adopted, it's just...natural? like there was nothing else that could have happened there? I am honest to god not the biggest tim fan and have not read enough of his comics to talk intelligently on him any more than that lol. but I do know bruce loves him very very much and would be lost without him<3
jason....jason. I mean what is there to say lmfao. if your dead teenager turned up and started mass murdering what would you do. I think it's pretty obvious to say that losing jason was soul-crushing for bruce and permanently changed him as a person; we see those aftereffects in his relationships to people like tim, steph, and cass. jason will never stop being his son, and bruce will never stop loving him. but things will never be the same again. I don't think jason's actions post-resurrection will ever be justifiable or forgivable to bruce. like even if jason woke up one day like 'suddenly i'm cured of being a villain' I don't think he would be welcomed back with open arms or anything. jason is a murderer. he has killed like a fuckton of people in cold blood. that is something that will never be okay with bruce. grappling with loving your son versus your son being a murderer which is antithetical to everything you have spent decades building...that's rough buddy. is that controversial? idk i spend as little time as possible thinking about jason todd
I think it hurts bruce to look at damian sometimes because he just can't stop seeing talia. I think he loves damian deeply but it isn't always easy. that whole timing of final crisis was just so messy that they didn't get off to a super smooth start and had to do a lot of work rebuilding that relationship. I think damian has to reconcile his childhood hero worship of bruce with the actual very flawed man which isn't easy. it has been a LONG ass time since i've read damian's comics so that's about all I got.
IN CONCLUSION! This is very long and I absolutely did not answer your question sorry. but these are kind of my cliffnotes thoughts on each of the wayne kids' relationships with bruce.
and yeah if you tried to get ollie to rank his kids he would knock himself out with a boxing glove arrow

I was not expecting to see Peter/Groot fanart on my dash but I’m kinda curious to see more of your take on it!
Outside the father/son dynamic of Pete and og Groot’s progeny baby Groot in the MCU films, I feel like peter and Groot’s dynamics in other gotg media are very underrated. Peter and Groot have some sweet and fun interactions in the Telltale game and the Eidos game. With peter, dispite usually not understanding Groot, always makes the effort to reach out and help him feel like part of the team. And Groot is, in most of these versions, a kind and supportive rock to Peter along with the rest of the guardians. I feel there’s a lot of potential for them to connect an a deeper level, with Groot having a lot of respect for Pete as a captain and leader and Peter getting to know Groot as a person and eventually understanding him.
I also like the idea of them bonding over earth stuff. Since Peter is from earth, and in the 2015 Groot comic miniseries and the Guardians Grounded arc, we see Groot has a love of earth and its culture, Peter would have a blast teaching Groot all about Terran pop culture (like your art where Pete teaches Groot how to game, for example). Real Ariel/Prince Eric energy.
Also, even though I’m personally on the fence at the moment about shipping them romantically, I do like the idea of them dating for:
1) their contrasting love lives and how them being together would make for some fun and sweet irony. Pete has in most post-MCU incarnations been depicted as a bit of a Casanova who dates/sleeps around a lot. While Groot has rarely shown romantic interest in anyone or anything, say for one or two implied outliers. So the idea of this legendary starlord who typically gets his romance fix through planetary flings one night stands, genuinely falling for a relatively sexless being like Groot is a cute idea. And,
2) the comedy/drama potential of Rocket finding out about them and dealing with the fact his best friend and other best friend/occasional rival/pain in the ass leader are dating. In the Telltale comic tie in, Rocket went through a whole jealousy arc when Groot became friends with Cosmo the space dog. So you can only imagine the emotions he’d get if he found out his best friend is dating someone. And that someone being flarkin’ QUILL of all people?! Sure, Rocket doesn’t hate Pete as much as he hates Cosmo, and they have a pretty close friendship in their own right, But they’ve also had their friction and rivalry in the past. And Pete taking Groot’s attention away from Rocket probably wouldn’t help things.
Needless to say rocket would be seething with resentment in the corner of the ship while Groot and Quill are being all lovey dovey. Though deep down he does still care about them both, he’s just insecure them dating will make them drift away from him as his friends. I like to imagine that, after a bit of drama and hijinks (mainly caused by rocket) he does come around to accepting the relationship and sorta becomes their third wheel.
Sorry, this ask took a very rambly turn! What I trying to say is I am a proud Proot shipper ally and would love to see you cook with the ship!
Oh my goodness, hi!!!
Please, don't apologise literally at all for asking any and all of this!!! Even though I'm not very good at answering these types of questions because I'm very scatterbrained sometimes, I'm really excited to answer because I am so, so happy to see someone interested in my silly little ship, even if they themselves don't ship it!!! So thank you so much for giving me an excuse to talk about them !!! 😊
Just to start; I'm not the biggest fan of the MCU, myself, so not much at all of what I put in my own personal little Marvel universe comes from the MCU. There are exceptions to this, of course!! Like, basically entirely how Mantis is in the MCU (except for her backstory and stuff - just her personality) I take for my own little universe, because I actually think they portrayed her really cutely in the MCU. This isn't, by the by, to say that the MCU is outright bad! There are so many people out there that absolutely adore the MCU, so obviously, it's an inherently good source! I'm just not that big on it, myself! I much more go by the comics, and even the little Guardians of The Galaxy video game (not Telltale, because I actually haven't played that one yet despite how much I want to), where I think they portrayed them all - with the exception of Mantis and Rocket sometimes - really, really cutely. The personality of the Peter from the game is the one I moreso lean towards, because he is genuinely just so outright sweet in that one, whilst still maintaining some of his more petulant attitude at times.
I agree that Groot and Peter's dynamic/relationship is very often undermined/under-represented in Marvel, and, sadly, this doesn't just apply to Peter. Groot's relationship with everyone who isn't Rocket, basically, is very... Unworked on. I absolutely adore Rocket and Groot's relationship, which I see as kind of being like that of best friends and brotherly, and they give me great comfort as a duo in that way, as well! I do just wish that Groot was ever given more than just being Rocket's best friend :( he is always very neglected, and it makes me very sad.
Peter often is depicted as that casanovery, one night stand type of person, and I do keep that because it's quite a consistent trait of his. Groot is never really depicted to be interested in that sort of stuff, but I do feel that is likely mostly because of the fact that he is an alien who looks like an alien (as in he doesn't look human) who cannot speak English. I touched upon this in my tags on my drawing a little bit, but I repeat it because it just frustrates/saddens me a lot. I don't like seeing Groot so undeveloped as a character just because of these traits :(. In this one case, the whole lack of romance thing works out in my favour because I obviously love him and Peter as a romantic pair, haha.
In my mind, I don't think that Groot - to me !! - is necessarily completely uninterested in things such as sex and love (obviously it's a perfectly cool and fair take when people do see him like that, though!), it's just that he's not quite like Peter. I don't see him as much of the one night stand type, and I think he'd maybe prefer things like sex with a partner, moreso than just some random person. Maybe a friend, but I don't know on that one.
I'm also not 100% certain where it is that I see them falling for each other, or who falls first, but I know that I've always imagined them being very close (obviously as I'd hope the entire crew would be after a point), especially because they're two of the most (traditionally) affectionate people on the ship! Peter seems (at least to me) to crave affection and enjoys giving out affection, as shown by his numerous attempts to bond with the others when they're most standoffish to him (in the beginning), typically leaving him a little dejected. Groot, also, is shown to be very friendly (usually!) from the get go, and is usually checking up on the others through Rocket. Also, this is (maybe?) specific to his portrayal in the video game, but I thought it was really sweet the way that Groot would follow Peter around and kind of stay on the other side of places that Peter would squeeze through and just sort of wait for him. Like the whole him bending/leaning down to wait and watch out for Peter and him waving and smiling when he sees him I just thought was so - !!!!!! Ahhg!!! Cute!!!!! I imagine he does stuff like that a lot :) always getting very excited to see Peter whenever they're separated, and following him around on missions and stuff. I think that Peter would also really come to appreciate this after a point. He'd probably think it was a little strange at first (not I'm a bad way) just because he had such a terrible upbringing, likely never really knowing anyone who just wanted to actually be around him for the sake of being around him like that. I think he'd end up taking a lot of comfort in having Groot just... being there a lot of the time, as a sort of consistent rock to lean upon, or just a consistent presence, even. That's why I think that whole Peter as the King/Emperor arc would really fuck them both up bad. I think they'd be together by then?? To memory?
Also; I love your comparison to them as Ariel and Prince Eric 😂, that's genuinely really cute, and I should draw them over a few scenes from The Little Mermaid at some point... That'd be so cute...
And, yeah; I've thought about the whole Rocket thing before. I do think he'd struggle with it a little at first, or at least be thrown for a bit of a loop initially! I don't think he'd know how entirely to handle it initially, though I do think it'd be even just remotely better because I keep Lylla around and add her to the crew because him leaving her is just so sad to me :( so having a lover and even just someone else he's really close to off the bat with him would probably make the situation even a little easier on him. But, yeah, I do think he'd be begrudging about it for a long time in that typical Rocket Raccoon way of his. Though, I have imagined this whole scene in my little brain of him helping Peter out of a bad situation (fight) after Peter and Groot have already been together for a while, and Peter doing that whole "woah - you saved me, Rocket" thing and Rocket grumbling his little "of course I did. You're my brother" but the moment that Peter tries to bring it up again later, Rocket tells him to stfu. Naturally. He adores them both, though, and obviously, because I take out Peter and Kitty dating as they do in some comics, so it's Groot he's dating during the King/Emperor arc, Rocket does try to mediate for them when Peter rejoins their crew. He'd hate to see them struggle like that after he's adjusted, and I also imagined him making them little personal fireworks and stuff to celebrate their anniversary together. He'd act nonchalant and gruff about it, but I think he'd secretly shed a few tears for them out of happiness.
SORRY - edit I just immediately have more to say that I only just thought of!!! I think that Groot would also be so happy to meet someone who is also really affectionate and social, and also someone who keeps trying to involve him and everything despite their language barrier. Outside of Rocket (and Lylla!!) He doesn't really have anyone, and, though he loves them both so very, very much, he's very social and would love someone like Peter. On top of that; I think he'd also just find Peter to be very funny and fun as a whole, even if he'd maybe think that Peter was a little lame (in the most endearing way possible - he'd love how lame Peter was, always making the lamest, unfunniest jokes to the point where they'd always make Groot giggle (in that wonderfully demonic voice of his), always gushing about his 'tunes' and 'jams', and being a general loser about pop culture and stuff. Not only would Groot love all of that and more, he'd also genuinely find it all really interesting, like you pointed out yourself :) also he'd just really appreciate how often Peter was trying to figure out how to understand him and keep him involved, whilst always letting Groot know how much he appreciates him, even with that barrier in the way. <3 #love wins haha
I just - I love them a lot, and I think that they'd be the most obnoxiously pda couple ever, always all over each other and being all lovey dovey and adoring all the time, everywhere they go. I think it'd be such a shocker to Peter at first again because of that lack of any good relationships like that in the past, but I think he'd just end up latching to it. Also, I do think, as they all usually do in the comics, he'd end up understanding Groot and his language, so there wouldn't be that giant language barrier after a point. But I just think they'd be massive cuddlers, and so openly complimentary and supportive to each other all of the time, completely unabashed to flaunt their love and how important the other one is to them, and just ... I love them. I love them a lot.
I think the MCU Groot baby is really funny, though, and I've thought about including him in a way, but as their mutual son because there's something so amusing about that buff, gym bro baby.
I'm so sorry for rambling off of my head here, and I'm also very sorry if this isn't fully coherent or something. I'm just pacing back and forth in my living room while writing all of this, and, like I said, I can be a little scatterbrained sometimes - also its really hot here and i think my brain is frying. But I really appreciate this ask, because I'm very passionate about them and i love having any opportunity to talk about them. #Proot 4 life 😂 thank you so much for the support hehehe 😊 it makes me very happy. I have so much to say about both of them all of the time, and there's only so much I can fit here/think to put here. But they are everything to me
Thank you so much for this again, and I hope you have an absolutely wonderful day !!!!!! 🧡🧡

Okay I am loving your takes so much while I am not a huge fan of Misako and Wu what you said made me think about a few things I'm still not a fan of them buuuut I don't think I dislike Misako as much and I also agreed with your take with the whole Nya Cole Jay thing anyways that's besides the point!!! How would Wu and the rest of the family Garmadon Misako & Lloyd react to Morro liking Kai?
Thank you for saying that, I greatly appreciate it! I get that Wusako isn't everyone's cup of tea, so no worries fam! I haven't been able to really explain my "takes" on a lot of the canon ships before, so it's nice to know my thoughts are being well received lol
NOW AS FOR THE DESTINYSHIPPING MOTHERFUCKERS -
Okay if you're a regular on my blog you probably know I have a million different ways that Destiny can become canon. Beyond that, there's a mullion different ways Morro actually joins the team in the first place. Morro takes Wu's hand. Morro comes back on the day of the Departed. Morro never actually leaves Wu's monastery (but we're ignoring that one for the sake of Destiny)
It's no secret that Kai probably hates Morro the most. He was the most relentless when it came to fighting him, trying to get Lloyd back, et cetera. Even during the Day of the Departed, he's the only one other than Lloyd who actually addresses him, ready to fight. So naturally, when setting up Destiny as a couple, you need to get over that barrier.
Morro joining the team under any circumstances is weird. One, he and Lloyd obviously aren't going to get along. Two, he might not even want to be a ninja. Three, he may not even fit into the group at all. Because of the way the characters are written, I think that if Wu gave Morro the chance of redemption, and Morro actually took it, the team would accept it and him. They stood down when Wu told them to, so it's not unrealistic that they'd trust him - after some protesting - that Morro wouldn't hurt them.
Except for Kai. Kai didn't trust Garmadon in season one, and that was Lloyd's father. Why would he ever trust Morro? Eventually everyone moves past not trusting Morro, if only because they're so annoyed by him and Kai fighting all the time. Even Lloyd I think would want Kai to give Morro a chance. It wouldn't be until either they're united against a common enemy, or until they're forced to see each other beyond their surface level traits, that they'd even be friends. However, I think that the second both Kai and Morro get past their animosity, they're bound to get together. Completely inseparable.
As for the reactions? WELL BABY LET ME TELL YOU -
Wu: He's extremely grateful that they've stopped fighting. Wu will never stop seeing Morro as a son either, so he's happy that he's giving himself the chance to be truly happy with someone. Of course, he gives Kai the stereotypical threat of "you hurt my son I hurt your face" but he's very supportive
Garmadon: Depending on which Garmadon we're talking about here. Evil Garmadon couldn't care less, he's not involved with their teenage shenanigans. Good Garmadon, however, would be concerned. I think he'd want to treat with Morro with respect, given that he's Wu's adopted child, but Morro still hurt his baby. He's always going to be biased against him. Not that Kai is Garmadon's favorite or anything, but he's still a little protective. Regardless, he doesn't voice his concerns to either of them, instead showing support, even if he's skeptical of their pairing.
Misako: I feel like she'd be in the same boat as Wu - relieved that they're not fighting, and that they're both happy. Misako isn't super close with either boy, so she's not as protective, but they're both part of her family, and she's always glad to see people overcoming their differences.
Lloyd: Now Lloyd is the trickiest, because he can either be their biggest cheerleader, or their biggest opposer. It depends on whether or not Lloyd's actually forgiven Morro, how he'll react. If he has, then sure enough he was right with Wu, trying to encourage Kai to stop picking fights, and was glad to find out they actually care about each other. If he hasn't forgiven Morro, however, then it's gonna be all too easy for him to get reasonably upset. Kai is supposed to be his brother - to protect him, and he goes and starts kissing the ghost that forced him to fight his friends??? Lloyd would get bitter fast in that case, and though he'd try to keep his feelings out of the fight, he'd slip up occasionally, and until he resolved things with both Kai and Morro, it would cost the team a lot. Lloyd's understanding and kindness is underestimated a lot; he tries to see the best in even the worst of people, and if you make an effort to do the right thing, he'll notice it. That being said, this is still the same kid who opened three serpentine tombs because he couldn't have some candy. Lloyd's ability to hold a grudge is strong, even turning him against his father at one point, but in the end he always comes around when he realizes the cost of his anger and acting on it isn't worth the consequences

Waiting For Forever, Research, Review, Character Analysis... + FanFic Talk
Tumblr media
In the past 6+ months I have probably seen the 2010/2011 indie "romance" drama film Waiting for Forever at least 20+ times. To say I am obsessed with Tom Sturridge is an understatement, but this film, mainly the character of Will Donner/Willie Pajamas, has completely won my heart.
Disclaimer: I have ADHD and I suck at planning out what I write, so, this may be all over the place, so I will try to stick to the points as much as possible. No promises though, lolz.
This film is a lot of things, but good is not exactly one of them. There are many reviews of this film from over the years that yes, cover how clunky this film is. And I might bring up some of the same points but I think it's deeper that everyone first thought it was.
Firstly, this film was written by a man named Steve Adams. Yes, a man wrote the story, which explains why Will's character is the only fleshed out character in the film, even though they tried to go back and forth between Will's POV and then Emma's POV. But if the past reviewers had done their research on the writer, maybe it would make more sense why that is the case.
Tumblr media
As you can see, Steve's early life surprisingly mirrors Willie's own early life. Waiting for Forever is almost auto-biographical. That both explains why Willie's character is the most fleshed out and why the script stayed fairly the same without many rewrites, as both Sturridge and Bilson have stated in interviews for this film. Willie is Steve and Steve is Willie.
Tumblr media
One of the biggest complaints of this film is the casual acceptance of stalking... though the film both calls it out and then rewards it, seemingly. Though I have many thoughts on the ending, how both Sturridge and Bilson talk about the ending doesn't make me think it is rewarded completely, just open-ended. I don't think Emma chose Willie in the end purely based on what Sturridge and Bilson have to say about it:
Tumblr media
My personal opinion of this is that I am glad that Emma likely did not return Willie's affections as that would make me dislike Emma even more than I already do. If she chose Willie, the message would be clear; stalking unrequited love is rewarded by getting the girl you want even though Emma was right; he does not know her, but also Emma would be choosing Willie as a last resort after her father died and her fiancé finally got arrested for murder. If I was Willie (which I will actually talk about later), I would feel pretty insulted by that, but that's just me.
But the thing is that I think what the author intended and how the actors portrayed their characters and story don't exactly match up.
I believe that Adams very much intended for Emma to choose Willie in the end, and the proof of his life mirroring Willie's in the story he wrote is proof of that.
There is not much out there about Adams, trust me, I tried to look for even more than just his Wikipedia page, but other than a Twitter account and his penname and couple novels out there, there isn't much about Adams that is known.
Adams did move to Massachusetts after both his parents died 2 days apart from one another; father died in a train wreck and then his mother died of cancer. And him and his siblings moved to MA after.
Now, I couldn't find where Adams grew up before that, but it is likely Pennsylvania.
It's funny, when doing research for Fan Fiction plans, I found that this film was mostly filmed in Utah. Main proof of that is the name of the appliance store that Willie's friends Joey and Dolores work at/own; Smith-Crown Co. which is a real place... in Utah... and there is only one, so...
And it struck me a strange; why be insistent that the film takes place in Pennsylvania? Why not just have it take place in Utah if that is where it was filmed? Answer is likely I am correct and Waiting For Forever is auto-biographical of the writer of the story; Steve Adams.
I am going to make many assumptions going forward though I have already with assuming based on the limited evidence that this film is auto-biographical.
I do think Adams meant for Emma to choose Willie in the end. If the story is auto-biographical, and Adams was born in 1947, which means he's in his 80's now, was in his 60's around the time the film came out. But I suspect the criticism of stalking was added only for 2008/2011 sensibilities to the topic. I say that because of a recent trend of TikTok, yes, Tiktok, I know, of many folks coming forward with stories about their grandmother's "love stories" and the amount of stalking that was acceptable in the 1960's-1980's when Adams would have been in his 20's to 40's. So, I think this was Adams' way of normalizing the cuteness of his own love story with his own wife.
I am purely talking about Adams and not Willie as I do think how Sturridge portrayed Willie is different than how Adams intended the character to be.
During the 1990's and early 2000's stories about The Manic Pixie Dream Girl was rampant in indie rom com dramas. I have made a playlist with videos that I think really go over the trope in it's entirety and I will list it below, but the main take away is that characters that are autistic coded, often portrayed as quirky, weird and a bit wild get paired with characters that are bland and have lost a love for life but only through the pairing with the MPDG will that bland character find their love for life again, usually at the expense of the MPDG. This is of course an oversimplification and I will list my playlist below:
Willie firmly falls into being a Manic Pixie Dream Boy and Emma is the Stale White Wonder Bread Girl.
A few clues into this is that Willie is very much neurodivergent, likely was before his parents' accident, but the accident traumatized Willie more than I think even Willie knows. His whole thing with Emma isn't even love, it's a trauma bond. Even Sturridge confirms this to an extent:
Tumblr media
Willie enjoys the feelings that Emma has given him and he is chasing that high again because he doesn't want to feel the pain of his reality.
And Emma even says in the film that Willie doesn't know her, and that is true, he doesn't. Even his "good love letter" he still shows that he doesn't know her at all. He is content with the version of her that he has in his head.
Now I have said that Willie is the Manic Pixie Dream Boy and Emma is the Stale White Wonder Bread Girl, but something that is key with the original trope (Manic Pixie Dream Girl, etc) is that the guy never fully sees the MPDG as human, hence the pixie-ification. But the problem with Waiting for Forever is that neither Willie or Emma see each other as human. Willie has put Emma on such a pedestal that even when she admits to being a cheater that he makes excuses for her actions and then Emma infantilizes Willie, calling him a little boy at least once if not a couple times in the film.
Mental health is such a big deal in this film it isn't even funny. And it sucks that it came out in 2010/2011 and was filmed in 2008 be cause the stigma towards mental health issues is riddled throughout this film. When it came out the biggest trend was the "Don't Label It" trend cuz people thought that was somehow limiting and put people in boxes and as such giving folks excuses for being mentally ill. This trend was and is ultimately very harmful because it gave people, and Jimbo in the film, the right and excuse to call folks crazy without feeling the need to understand and research what was actually going on.
As someone that has ADHD and autism, labels are so helpful. It explains so much of our experiences, both similar and not as it is all a spectrum. I have learned so much about my own experience and the experiences of others because of the labels we have. And I wish that Waiting for Forever was not so afraid at the time to really give Willie's mental health issues a name. Many of us, me included, do relate to him so intensely it's not funny. Representation is such a big deal, especially when it is very close to real experiences that folks have gone through.
Tumblr media
Before I get back to some of my more critical critiques of the film, I do want to share a bit of why I deeply relate to Willie.
As I have stated, I have ADHD and autism as well, and I will be honest, I have done very similar things that Willie has done. I have had unrequited love, gone to the places that that person would likely be just for the off chance of seeing them and or trying to catch up with them to talk to them. And I did not exactly know what I was doing was likely stalking. The reason why I think Sturridge's portrayal and Adams' original vison differ is because Sturridge's Willie genuinely does not understand what he is doing is harmful. I didn't either. I had no emotional regulation to be able to handle the rejection that inevitably happened later on too. That does not excuse my or Willie's behavior, but it does give it some understanding and clarity.
Now, I have never traveled across the country to follow someone, but I do get where Willie is coming from. He meant no harm, he truly did not understand what he was doing would hurt Emma.
But I do think Adams knew better, hence the adding into the story that stalking is seen as a bad thing. And if he intended that the story be read as Emma choosing Willie in the end, and the story is auto-biographical, then that puts of a bit of a more sinister twist on the story.
Willie is a Manic Pixie Dream Boy that is autistic/has ADHD and likely PSTD induced talking to people that aren't there to cope with his trauma. Willie was written by a man that was seemingly trying to self insert, and so all other characters and story beats suffered from that. Not only is Emma the Stale White Wonder Bread Girl, but she just is unlikeable and is basically a piece of carboard for Willie to put all his hopes and dreams onto. And if after everything, if Adams vison is what is more true than Sturridge's and Bilson's portrayals, Emma chooses Willie, that is basically rewarding Willie for his efforts that were toxic through the lens of not understanding his mental health issues (though even with understanding them they should not be rewarded). That rewards Willie's fantasies about Emma, it rewards him not really knowing her. And that my friends, is the pipeline to Incel culture.
Incels have a need for the fantasies to be fulfilled by their idea of the ideal woman. They don't care who she is, the less personality the better, as long as she is hot to them and they want her, it does not matter. What the Incel fantasizes about a woman in his head is all that matters.
Do I think Willie is an incel? No, I don't. But I think Adams may be and or intended for Willie to be...
So, with the perpetuation of The Manic Pixie Dream Boy trope while also having Willie put Emma on a pedestal as if she was actually interesting when she isn't (men should stop trying to write women, I swear), I don't think this is as cute of a story as Adams intended it to seem. It almost feels like he was looking for validation for his own real life choices if this film was indeed auto-biographical.
There are many interviews, video and written, as well as reviews that go over actual story points and all that, but that was not my main focus for this review of mine. I will list all the resources below so ya'll can check them out.
Tumblr media
So, I have covered my speculations on the writer of the story, what I think the writer was trying to convey, Willie's possible mental health diagnosis, the perpetuation of the Manic Pixie Dream Boy trope while still having the male character treat the fem character as if she is more than human while not really knowing who she is at all.... That makes it sound like I don't like Willie. That can't be further from the truth. I love Willie. I firmly believe Sturridge's portrayal is different than what Adams wanted to put out there.
Yes, Willie has autism and ADHD as well as PTSD with the possibility of trauma coping induced talking to people that aren't there. Willie genuinely does not understand why what he is doing is wrong, and it isn't incompetence, like he really doesn't know.
Strangely, Emma's mother Miranda and Willie have a lot in common when it comes to their characterizations; neither one can, or wants to, admit the harshness of reality. Now, Willie may or may not be doing that on purpose, because both in the beginning of the film with the couple that pick him up and then in the car with his brother at the end of the film, Willie does show that he knows what happened to his and Jimbo's parents. But I don't think Willie is playing stupid, I really don't think he can cope with the reality of it, hence the talking to his parents off to the side and his trauma bond with Emma.
Willie also struggles with anxiety/panic attacks, which I really wish had been correctly identified in the film, but oh well.
He is also very nostalgic and sentimental; the tree house scene and then the scene at the soda shop turned bar where he gets excited to see that they kept the same stools.
As for his pajamas, Tom puts it best:
Tumblr media
That leads me to sexuality. Willie is a hopeful romantic. I do think that Willie is a sexual person, but I really think he is more focused on romance that it takes up more of his thoughts and energy than sex does. Also, with how long Willie has carried this infatuation with Emma for, I speculate that he is a virgin. Which I think both fits him well and is very sweet, as far as Sturridge portrayed.
I have written about Willie and Waiting For Forever in the past on past posts, so I will post those snippets and links below.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Personally, I do plan on writing a bit of a fix-it/add a character to the story fanfic as well as lead into a sequel story.
I don't think Emma chose Will at the end, not with how Bilson and Sturridge talk about it in interviews. It took me a while to come to that conclusion, but it is the only one that makes sense with the film we got.
Willie's first love was also unrequited. It is my hope that I, or even others cuz hell I am only gonna write what I wish I could read instead, can write Willie both an epic love that is his true love.
He needs someone that matches his energy. The only time The Manic Pixie Dream Person trope works is if the couple has both folks fit the Manic Pixie Dream Person trope, aka they are both neurodivergent as fuck.
The one film that comes to mind that fits this idea to a T is Watching The Detectives with Cillian Murphy and Lucy Liu as the couple. If you haven't seen the film, please watch it, it is worth it. But both Murphy's character in the film and Liu's character match each other's energy throughout the film and that is why their characters work.
So, if Willie is going to find his true love it is someone that is going to understand him and get him completely and vice versa. And they both should challenge one another positively to encourage growth. Willie would have never gotten that with Emma. Not only does Willie not know Emma, but she would have never been able to live up to his fantasy of her.
So, Willie needs a partner that is his match in every way.
I will say that if folks are trying to place the timeline of when the film takes place, likely between end of September 2008 and then a screen shot I took has the date set October 8th 2008, the day Willie finally talked to Emma.
Tumblr media
But that is purely for folks that would like to write fanfics that are accurate for when it takes/took place.
Films that I take inspiration with the idea of Willie finding his match is the 2007 film Stardust, specifically Yvaine's confession and then Tristan later confessing he heard everything and that his "true love was right in front of him the whole time".
And then the other film that I would say kind of fit the idea of both characters being MPDP would be Drew Barrymore's Ever After. Yes, Danielle as a character is more of a MPDG than Prince Henry being a MPDB, but I do think that Prince Henry is not exactly a Stale White Wonder Bread Boy either as he does match Danielle's energy more than not. Though if I am wrong about this, let me know.
In fact, I am not sure if I was able to get more points fully across cuz of ADHD and yeah, I never plan out what I am gonna write, so if there are flaws or things I missed, please let me know. I would love to discuss this with ya'll.
In the meantime, here is a link to the first fanfic that has ever been written for this film, and it is smutty, so if you are under 18, don't read it.
And I have made a playlist of music that remind me of Willie, Waiting For Forever and just some music that are likely going to fit story beats in the fanfic I want to write. Also, the film itself needed better music. Some of the 1980's and 1990's music in my playlist should have been in the film instead, in my opinion.
Well, I think I said I want to say for now. If I need to go back and clarify some talking points, let me know in the comments and we can discuss.
Tumblr media
Personally, I would marry Willie in a heartbeat, I mean look at him and just the way Tom Sturridge portrayed this character? Regardless of Adams intentions, though important to keep in mind, Tom made Willie his own deserving of love cinnamon roll that must be protected at all costs.

I finished the first AITSF game a few days ago and I'll give my thoughts on the game and what I've played of the sequel so far!
My overall thoughts are so positive. I love be characters, the mystery, the representation and dynamics. I think my favourite character is gonna have to be Date, he's a perfect balance between comedy and serious moments. Only complaint is that he didn't get to say fuck in that one scene
Spoilers under cut
I didn't mind the body swapping. I still haven't managed to fully wrap my head around the body swapping in the canon ending as I keep getting it confused with the Annihilation Route (what is the canon route called?).
As for my thoughts on each route, the Ota Route is my least favourite. I don't necessarily find it bad but I do find it to be sort of disconnected from the over arching plot. This also might be because I'm not the biggest Ota fan. Then I'm gonna say the Iris Route. I did really enjoy this route, especially looking at it with the knowledge of Date being her 'uncle' and stuff from the sequel I won't say here for anyone who hasn't played it but despite how much I like this route I can't put it above the others. But DAMN Iris' death scene was so well done I was almost in tears. After that is the Annihilation Route. This is the route I went down first (I know unfortunate) so going in, watching everyone DIE only to see Boss shoot So and for the ROUTE TO LOCK ON ME??? I was shook. (Then I proceeded to start the canon route). I love this route from the pure amount of information it gives you for the overarching story. You learn about Saito, Date originally being Falco, Date getting robbed of his f bomb. Then it's the Mizuki Route. I want to put this as my favourite but I cant purely because of the final climax of the canon route. I love this route. Getting to bond with Mizuki and have a badass fight with So's guards and her, saving her ass, only to when psync with Date as Mizuki and THE HUG AFTERWARD AHHHHHH I do love the canon route. The climax is particularly what carries it for me though. Having this one massive fight scene with everyone against Saito, and MIZUKI GETTING SHOT HURT ME SO MUCB SAME WITH AIBA'S DEATH. The epilogue was fun, I really enjoyed place hopping with Iris and talking to everyone. And THE CREDITS??? PEAK.
I love most of the characters. Date, Boss, Iris, Mizuki, Pewter. Those are the main ones in my head. Characters like Moma I don't actively think about but I love him whenever he's on screen (I do find some of his moments with Iris to be a little weird). Mama is amazing and I'm so upset there wasn't more of her GIVE ME MORE MAMA. Ota is probably my least favourite character out of the 'main cast'. I never really got attached to him, but I do sympathise with him. The Seijimas are alright. So was just fun to shit on for being a shitty politician doing shitty politician things but I was a bit creeped out by the whole banged and had a kid with a 19 year old but I'm glad the game actually addressed it. Also father and son have a common gory ass death I thought witnessing Iris get sawn in half was bad let alone So's dismembered body or Saito's head LITERALLY EXPLODING
I adore this game's representation. Having Mama, Ren, and Pewter is my everything and I love them all. Mama is such a fun character, both her and Pewter are actually plot important and give her important information or drive the plot (by pointing a gun at us and being WAY TOO DOWN BAD PEWTER) Renju while never being seen outside flashbacks I still feel like he has so much character to him because we lean about him through said flashbacks, especially the ones with him at Marble with Date and the one with Hitomi. (I am in the middle of reading some JuPewter)
As for the sequel so far, my only complaint is that the somniums feel a lot weaker so far. (I've done Ryuki's, The big ass forehead doctor's and Tokiko's). Ryuki's was great, i mainly didn't enjoy the doctor's because it was his character and Tokiko's I only completed because I could speedrun everything before the final action because otherwise movement took too long. This is very minor as well but I don't like the mask explanation. I just. Don't. Idk why. So far the only characters I've actively disliked are the doctor and Me Square ass head. I love Big Girl Mizuki, Ryuki and Tama have been a great duo so far and I'm excited to experience the new characters more!

Brainstorming random general Junkrat headcanons that i consider as an official canon at this point
I wrote this at 4 am cough
- mother issues, and not in the kinky way but like really bad espresso depresso mother issues. He's like a newborn duck who thinks that anything that comes near to him is his mother (also based of his voice lines i think he was an only child and probably lived only with his mom)
- he doesn't care about what he's wearing, dress, pants, skirts, like he's able to walk around in anything that isn't tight or scratchy
- he sees Roadhog as his father figure/older brother and they just kinda adopted each other without the paperwork (ALSO pls don't take this like I'm trying to shittalk on ppl who ship them, this is just my personal view on their relationship so pls don't yell at me or I'm gonna cry ;-;)
- you can't tell me that my boy doesn't have adhd and ptsd, like C'mon
- he's on aro/ace spectrum, he spend his entire life in wasteland so he's rather looking for family and friends than partner, at least not just a quick flirting etc.
- but I can also see him that something like a personal space doesn't exist for him (he's extremely hungry for any physical touch like someone hug him already holy hell) i feel like he doesn't really understand social interactions (kinnie moment) . Idk how to describe it but like imagine he would randomly walk to you and gave you flowers or smth, just trying to be friendly not realizing smn could interpret it differently
- but also he has no idea what flirting is, like u could hit on him for months and he would be for the entire time like :) 🧍‍♀️"love ya too mate" while patting your head
- he actually can draw pretty well, like the concepts he drew for his bombs etc? He has such a clean lineart holy shit
- hardcore/trash punk and kpop/classic 2000s pop, nothing else.
- literally the biggest fan boy (a little meow meow u can say), Lucio? listens to his music non-stop, Hammond? has his stuffed animals and signed peg leg, Junker Queen? gosh, if he doesn't have at least one lunch box with her, I'm throwing hands than
- the pokémon sodas edition, he would love them, cherishem them, worship them, like if he loves pachimari u can't tell me he wouldn't love strawberry yagult pink soda with Mew on the can
- he's losing his hearing so he uses hearing aids (that he made himself ofc), also him and roadhog know sign language and using it pretty oftenly, during missions, when Junkrat's having a panic attack etc.
- so like ppl say he's egoistic but i think there's a huge difference between his ego and Junker Queens ego, she's very confident and sure about her role/look/skill etc. While Junkrat is more self-ironic and tries to hide that he is actually pretty insecure about pretty much everything
- can speak fluently many languages which always throws everyone off , like he just randomly starts speaking Chinese fluently in a middle of meeting or something, and everyone arevlooking at him like 🧍‍♀️
- shitty phantom pains, he may know how to build his prosthetics from a literal garbage but has no idea when it comes to take care of himself so he just curles up into a ball and sobbs
- he and Roadhog give each other manicures at least once a month, that's the only thing he can actually take care of
- unhealthy addiction to coffee and sweets (someone should take away the coffee machine he has in the workshop) (his teeth are rotten at this point)
- his sleep is more broken than the queuing system (haha funny), usually sleeping like 3 hours per day, that's why the coffee addiction
- if u would show him any kind of love he would start stuttering while trying to come up with smth funny, blushing, sweating and sit on the ground and think about life for the next 30 mins cuz of how much he's not used to being praised
- also my man is a huge emotional wreck, he's getting new emotion every 5 seconds
- honestly i can't decide if the only thing he ever read was a recipe on frozen dumplings or if he's the biggest nerd u can imagine who's walking around with Franz Kafka or Sigmund Freud while sipping his boba tea
- he's missing an eye - I read the theory that he doesn't have an eye and that his fake eye is actually the real treasure with a code or smth, and omg, im obsessed, yes, my boy is like a cool mad max pirate, absolutely canon, at least it would connect him to some actual lore in the story, he's just wobbling around for last 6 years just give him something already;-;
- he likes comics, i just think he likes to inconspicuously steal a new issue of Batman whenever they're pulling a heist
- you know those French toasts that are basically just normal bread soaked in condensed milk? that's his ass

not to psychoanalyze myself too much but i wonder if i tend to declaw/downplay some of Connor's (implied?) behaviour towards his sister because family bullying is/was so normalized for me, lol?
like, my sister looks at me as an adult and laughs and says "God I was so horrible to you" and i look back and laugh and say "I know"
my sister was, in fact, very mean sometimes. i remember screaming and crying at her door, I can't remember why, but she'd upset me badly. us viciously fighting and screaming at each other was normal. it's very normal for siblings to fight, to hurt each other. it's normal for older family members to pick on you, try to upset you/get a rise out of you. i don't personally think this is right, but it's typical in my family and i feel like in my culture in general.
now. i haven't and won't read the book, i've only watched the musical one time, and i highly doubt i'll watch the movie. i've watched reviews of the movie and been on and off involved in the fandom since 2018.
my reinvention of who Connor is was always a guy with a really shitty dad, a mother who tried to keep the peace, and a sister who he resented for being the "good" one out of the two, all of whom he lashed out at and acted like he didn't care about. he had issues with mental health, obviously, and he was a dick, sometimes for good reason (towards his father) often not really for a good reason (towards his sister). he pushed people away before they could hurt him further.
but. i don't think i ever would have used the word "abusive" for him in reference to his relationship with Zoe, maybe due to my own affection for this invented personality and to protect myself psychologically for "sympathizing with an abuser" and what that would say about me. nowadays, i like characters who are, without a question, toxic and manipulative and, at times, abusive. i stillllll dunno if i'd apply it to him. not to the almost-wholly-fanon version of him that lives in the back of my head and periodically tortures me (as you can see, if you've read any of my posts in the last 24 hours and followed my descent into the Connor Murphy hell that I'm in) anyway. even if he was abusive, it doesn't mean he couldn't change with actual support. i've been a really big fan lately of horrible (morally speaking) characters who become a little less horrible with more love and a little perspective, and Connor was probably prototypical of that lol.
and. ultimately, DEH is a musical that I think is bad and i don't like the story it told in the first place. i like the idea of the characters and I've always felt out of place and hypocritical in the fandom alongside the people who actually like the source material. it's not a typical thing for me to be a hater and still so attached to elements of a fandom (although it does happen, sometimes. DEH and fucking Tangled the Series are the two biggest offenders. i am Like This about the character of Cassandra even though I slowly came to hate the source material too, lol..) but i can't help it. i still like engaging in the fandom, writing my fic, reading the fic, even if i bastardize the source material more than i usually would. at least it's with intention.

For the ask meme, if you're interested in answering: Seto for 17 + 27 and also 23 because that seems like a soft and kind of silly fun question. And also, if you'd like, Pegasus for 25 and also 23. Thank you! I hope you have a nice day/night!
Thank you so much for the ask!! I feel very honored!! 🩵🩵
It’s the first time for me doing something like this because I often feel insecure about my character takes, or because I find it hard to answer questions on the spot. Also, I probably have more for all of these questions but this is just what comes to my mind now at 2 am.
17. Quotes, songs, poems, etc. that I associate with them
I actually have a playlist of songs that remind me of him, or his relationship with various people from his life, that I shared only with a small number of people because I’m kind of self conscious about my music tastes >.>
But there are certain songs that I just cannot help but think of him when I listen.
“Numb” and “Crawling” by Linkin Park, the first makes me think of his relationship with his father figures, the second of the effects of his trauma.
“Hoax” by Taylor Swift is a song I cannot help but associate with his relationship with Atem. I do not really ship them but his relationship with him is in canon Seto’s deepest connection besides the one with Mokuba, and probably Gozaburo. I feel like that song represents very well Seto’s feelings of bitterness at Atem leaving.
“You knew it still hurts underneath my scars
From when they pulled me apart
You knew the password, so I let you in the door
You knew you won, so what's the point of keeping score?
You knew it still hurts underneath my scars
From when they pulled me apart
But what you did was just as dark
Darling, this was just as hard
As when they pulled me apart”
As for quotes:
“you keep fighting because you feel you need to earn permission to exist. you're even willing to sacrifice your own life for it. no—one can grant you that affirmation. no stamp certifies that you deserve to live”
“And I was so young
When I behaved
Twenty five
Yet now I find
I've grown into
A tall child”
-Mitski, First Love/Late Spring (the whole song actually…I know it’s a reach, but my Seto brainrot forces me to see the words “window” and “ledge” and relate them only to him)
“We do not want to be spared by our best enemies, not by those either whom we love thoroughly”
-Nietzsche, Thus Spoke Zarathustra
“No one has ever written, painted, sculpted, modeled, built, or invented except literally to get out of hell”
-Antonin Artaud
“I don’t know what’s going to come out of me,” I told her. “It has to be perfect. It has to be irreproachable in every way.”
“Why?” she said.
“To make up for it,” I said. “To make up for the fact that it’s me”
-Suzanne Rivecca
As for the poem, it’s actually a rather dark one that I associate with him, Le Cœur supplicié by Arthur Rimbaud (tw for discussions of sa if anyone wants to look up how it has been often interpreted). To contextualize, my interpretation of the abuses Seto endured in his life is that they were very brutal. But I also associate it to the profound violation Seto experienced when Gozaburo stole his designs (or if you interpret it that he handed them over willingly in manga canon, how he would feel looking back at that).
27. Their guilty pleasure
Bad horror movies, because he is still the boy who built Death-T.
23. If they were a scented candle, what would they smell like? For both Seto and Pegasus.
For someone that loves scented candles, I am actually having trouble with this one. I’m going for coffee or moss for Seto. Maybe lavender for Pegasus?
25. 3 things they’d want to take with them if they were dropped off in the middle of nowhere (for Pegasus)
Not the biggest Pegasus fan or expert, but I would say a picture of Cyndia, a piece of Funny Bunny memorabilia and a bottle of wine.

i have a question, as a fellow Orbot and Cubot fan, how do you feel about most recent content showing all egg man's robots as his children and them all being siblings? i like it for metal, belle, and sage, but i don't know about Orbot and cubot. also i get worried about shipping them? i totally shipped them before frontiers but after sage referring to them as her brothers idk how to feel. i joke that cubot is a "brother in law", but idk how long canon will allow us to ship them before it gets weird. anyway, just wanted to know your opinion! thanks!
I'm not the biggest fan of the fanworks showing Orbot and Cubot as siblings/Eggman's kids, personally. Nothing wrong with it, never was, just not my thing. As for the canon stuff...honestly? I don't think it's as big of a deal right now as people worry about.
When I first heard the news I hadn't seen all that far into Frontiers yet (it was only a day or two old at this point), so all I knew was from seeing someone i follow saying "well shit theyre canon brothers now guess im not shipping them anymore" out of nowhere. Which. Without any context. Did make me a bit afraid at first.
But later I saw what was actually said in game and realized...this is just some kid trying to learn what a family is supposed to be, and what her family would be compared to that, with her father figure basically going "yeah if you say so i guess". This is not Orbot and Cubot calling each other siblings. They aren't even there to call Sage their sibling. Sage is trying to connect the relationship of inventor/invention to parent/child, which, while functional sometimes, is not an accurate assumption 100% of the time.
I am an extremely firm advocator for how relationships involving sentient robots has very different rules to organic beings. A robot and their creator can have a parent/child relationship, sure, but they could also be a couple, siblings, friends, enemies, literally any relationship to each other should they choose. The parent-child dynamic could even be swapped, with the robot taking the parental role and the creator being their child (they've done this in the Sonic franchise already, see Mombot and Eggman from Sonic Boom). Same goes for multiple bots of the same maker. Partners, families, anything. And one robot seeing the creator as a dad doesn't mean the other robots made by that creator have to see them that way too. I feel like this especially applies to things on the scale of Eggman's robots. He's made thousands, if not millions or even billions of robots. At that point it's more like a whole race/species/community/something on that larger scale than one single family.
I also have a distaste for the "all eggman robots are siblings and are kids of eggman" thing especially when it gets used for ALL Sonic universes, not just the modern universe? For example, if you apply that to Boom, you get some...uncomfortable clashes with some canon relationships (see: Cutebot & D-Fect, Mombot, every time Cubot hits on another machine, probably other things I'm forgetting)
Anyway. Obviously I have a lot to say on the topic, but in the end...who cares? I don't see them as siblings, I probably never will, regardless of what canon does to 'em. None of my shippy art or writing will ever have them as siblings, and I assume the same of all that I reblog. I've been here on the cuorb/cueball train for years, other people have been here even longer than me. Definitely a whole lot longer than Sage's little throwaway 'brothers' comment in Frontiers, or Orbot's 'big bro' gag in Rise of the Wisps.
If those things make the ship feel icky to you when it hadn't before, and you don't wanna ship it now, that's fine. Sure, it sucks when a ship you love doesn't work out, but it's not your fault canon threw a curveball at you. Sometimes that ball hits you in the gut hard, makes you feel sick. You can hit it right back - choose to ship it anyway, via au or canon divergence or whatever else - but there's no shame if that ball hits you hard enough that you gotta sit out the rest of the game.
So, my final verdict?
Just do what you want. It's more fun that way.

Oh wise Pix of the pool, I have questions for you!
10, 14, 20, 21, 25, and 29!
Have fun!!
(In regards to this post)
Mmmm I dunno about wise but I do have answers for this, so.
10. Is there a fic that got a different response than you were expecting?
Hm, this is a hard one, cause a lot of times I don't really have expectations for responses? Or when I do it's usually fairly on the money. I do remember being a bit surprised that A Star-Lined Path got as much interest as it did, given that my tagging on that was... kinda awful, lol.
14. If you could see one of your fics adapted into a visual medium, such as comic or film, which fan fic would you pick?
Ah fuck me that's a really hard one, nevermind. I mean, A Shadow, an Eon, and a Worm could be fun, given that that's my biggest megafic. My other option is my current biggest WIP, Maskless, because it's got some really nice scene imagery in there and seeing that adapted could be super cool. (One scene in particular...)
20. What’s a favorite title for a fic you’ve written?
cracks open my AO3 works tab ok, I really like Second Sun, if only for the punnage of it all, and same with A Credit To The Order. But I think my absolute favourite is either Tempering Steel (Transformers fic), or Light in a Storm (Star Wars).
21. Have you ever deleted an entire scene after spending hours laboring over it? If so, why?
I am in fact currently in the process of doing that! I have about 10k of Maskless that I need to delete, because I don't like one character interaction that I have in it. Unfortunately, at the time I wasn't too bothered, so I kept writing!
And then I got writer's block, took like a four month break, and came back to it. Looked at the segment, went 'no actually I dislike this immensely', and am now having to delete pretty much that entire 10k because the way I want to rewrite this section also means needing to adjust the course of the entire rest of the conversation to keep it flowing well, so yay that.
(Technically I guess this isn't a scene? It's a big section of a scene to be deleted, it's just that I've then gotta rewrite the rest of the scene and the next chapter probably as well...)
25. Have you ever upset yourself with your own writing?
Oh hells yes. Writing Shattering Point was a nightmare, because I did that one in class and made myself upset, very fun to try and explain. Surprisingly, the one you'd think upset me- Tomorrow and Tomorrow and Tomorrow- didn't all that much? I think it's cause I wrote it in a speedrun more than anything and got caught up thinking about the reactions more. Like I was sad but it wasn't that bad?
I think if I reread it now though I'd start sobbing.
29. Share a bit from a fic you’ll never post OR from a scene that was cut from an already posted fic. (If you don’t have either, just share a random fic idea you have that you don’t plan on getting to.)
...Hm, ok, this could be fun. Dooooo I have anything like that right now...
(The endless issue of 'if I wrote it with the intent to post it it probably got posted', lol. I have a lot of practice pieces that'll never be posted, but I don't think I've got much actual fic content...?)
Oh! I have an idea! I was, once upon a time, thinking of expanding on Revelations of Monsters, an MCU fic I wrote in the early days of me being on AO3. I never actually figured out how I'd expand it, though, so while I did write a scene for a potential sequel/expansion piece, I'll likely never use it. Soooo here have some of that I guess.
Even for Ultron. (Not the monster she’d created, no. But for the AI that would have been ULTRON, if not for her interference. ULTRON would have been different, would have grown up with a family of AI siblings and a father who adored his creations so brightly it burned, would have been taught love and compassion and to protect… Wanda had murdered that child before they could even be born, using her powers and the Sceptre, and created a monster in their place, and she wasn’t sure if there was enough grief and regret in all the worlds to atone for that fact. She wasn’t sure she wanted there to be.)

I had a thought about Risk E. Rat’s. I think I saw someone on tumblr theorise recently that Leo’s appearance probably isn’t for a Mac flashback for reasons I don’t remember. I was just thinking about how Mac said in Frank Shoots Every Member of the Gang that he wants something to pass down to his kids. what if that was foreshadowing, and he’s going to discover that he already had a kid years ago when he was still banging chicks? argument against: 1. would be a rehash of Charlie Wants an Abortion, 2. if they want to do gang/fatherhood stories they’ve already got Brian Jr and have barely tapped that well, and 3. not sure that Rob + Kaitlin would want to put their kid into a recurring role and expose their kid to the industry? argument for: maybe it would be interesting to see the difference between dad Mac vs dad Dennis. Mac’s kid would be older and that could be an interesting dynamic. what if because he hasn’t been around, his kid pushes Mac away, just like his parents did to him? or maybe Mac would be Lutheresquely distant, just like he was with Uncle Donald. also I can totally see Mac and Dennis arguing because Mac adds “as a father…” to his identity spiel and Dennis knows he knows more about fatherhood than Mac.
just throwing this out to sunnyblr idk
Hmmm interesting. Tbh I do think at this point he’s just ‘kid Mac fights at the arcade’ because that’s pretty funny in terms of the casting-situation. But you bring up some interesting points/plots.
Frank is a dad, duh; Dennis has a kid; Charlie had a kid scare/plot; Dee gave birth to a kid; Mac is the only member of the gang without some kind of kid plot or connection, and the one who seems most inclined to actually want a family (and the biggest anti-condom of them all)
IF he were Mac’s kid, it would be a weird timing issue as well, since Leo is only 12-ish, he was born circa-S8. Axel was who Kaitlin was pregnant with in S6, and I believe that Halloween party was the last time we saw/heard about Mac having sex with a woman. Since then… gay Mac rules.
SO if Leo’s character was his kid they’d either have to age him up a little (kinda doubt) or they’d backtrack and say he was still sleeping with women in Season 7/8, which I’m not a major fan of, or he’s Margaret McPoyles kid LMAO.
I think the biggest indicator to helping us figure this out is why is it Leo? Did they need someone who look familial, or did he just want to try acting? I am thinking it might just be the latter post-Wrexham filming and Rob sharing that he’s been showing some episodes to the kids.
I think it’ll be an unrelated character, but probs have some fun hints/meta related to the casting. And you know who looks just as much like Leo as Rob does? Kaitlin. Damn that child is a little McElhenney/Olson clone! And we know his character interacts with Frank. It would be pretty cute/funny if Frank looked at him and was like ‘why the shit do you look just like my daughter as a kid?’
Past that, if he isn’t part of a flashback/playing young Mac, I don’t really want him to be related to the Gang, tbh. I think Mac ‘wants’ to be a dad, but realistically he would need to be a co-parent to Brian Jr. because he’d absolutely just get along with his kid like a child, fights and contributing to chaos and throwing tantrums and all until they just burn off and he’s ‘over’ being a dad and moves on. Mac is a massive child, and I love that about him, and I think that’s the plot we’ll get, seeing him be a kid next to a kid and coming across as the bigger child
