sorry for never shutting up about how people treat hazel but ohh my god shes my fave character atm.... i get to be mad!! she has good enough information that you can play around with headcanons freely

the only moments people wouldve brung up is when dev is in the episode, there was no reason for the episode that showed her tendancy to overthink and be emberassed over small mistakes by wishing a do-over and over again, having to realise that running away from the idea of creating a problem wont help her in the long run JUST so people could go "omg haha dev has a crush on her" i could litterly not tell you what the general concensious on most episodes are because i dont know peoples opinions on them because in general they dont discuss them beyond his scenes

fanart too, ive personally muted the dev and devzel tag and when i look up #hazel wells i want you to guess how many posts i find that arent hidden! spoiler alert its barely any of them, listen im not saying im shocked at the fact The Characters Made As A Duo are drawn as a duo, its whatever and while im not personally a fan in general i really do get the appeal, but you have to admit that at some point it gets really suspicious when the only fanart you can find in one character is only with the more popular one, over 200 fics in the hazel tag on ao3 and theres only 20! without the dev tag! (10 more then when i last checked, crazy! go read fly bird, fly now), and my main problem is is that hazel is shown to be her own person OUTSIDE of their friendship, infact wouldnt you know it shes the protagonist herself! the fact that most aus ive seen are focused on dev/dale/peri is whats most confusing to me, "oh but theyre so interesting to work with"

hazel is very interesting and shows her own struggles, she likes puns and fries and rocks and anime and horror movies (and apparently mushrooms if you count that one scene), she tries to problem solve so that no one is unhappy (patty being alive so winn wasnt upset, trying to get the band and orchestra together, accidently haunting her house and wishing her dads day was extra special, trying to find a dinosaur she spontaniously teleported his own job), she has multiple episodes showing her insecurities and how she tries to hide it so she doesnt look like a bad person, but inspite of it all is a understanding person and a peacemaker and doesnt like arguments, hell shes even such good autism represntation im 99.9% sure it wasnt intentional at all

dont even get me started on the takes ive seen in the finale, listen the finale has alot to be said and it definatly wont be everyones cup of tea (i think them trying to refrence every episode felt so chaotic personally) but regarding people with the ending is still giving me a headache, "she shouldve used her wish on him" that wouldve been so boring and predicable, say what you want on what she actually used it for but i think you guys should realise that for the kid whos regressing back into his bad copium mechanisms should get to face his concequences, 'hes 10 and neglected so thats why he acted like that' and 'she doesnt need to put up with how he treats her and hold his hand and be his personal therapist' can both coexist, people being pissed that she lightheartly agreed that he fucked up when HE admitted it is crazyyy CRAZYYY (also the fact ive seen someone say 'her moms a therapist she shouldve known' ???)

this isnt even touching on "hazels other relationships like her friends and family arent developed enough so thats why ppl dont care that much" while that is a valid critism i have with the show in general i still dont think applys to what im specifically talking about to demonstrate dale has appeared in THREE episodes (four if you want to stretch it), meanwhile hazels parents have appeared more often and im barely seeing them in fanart "but dale has a backstory!" so do those two have a whole episode explaining how they met "b-but dale is interesting as a role as a villain!" the guy is barely a villain [so far atleast], but also is being a therapist and a parascienists already not an interesting enough? are you guys suddenly not able to make as much headcanons expanding apon them as you did with dale? thats the thing that confuses me the most, whats stopping you from giving random information from your head to anyone else?, (i didnt know how to word this point so hopefully this makes sense)

for one uhm . Paris and glisten are on less than good terms... theyre forced to get along just because of their circumstances and how they are as people but Dear god if the situation were different it woudl be AWFUL</3 glisten sees paris as just flawless. hes perfect in all the ways glisten isnt. paris very much has the same insecurities as glisten does but instead of just denying it and trying to convince himself and others that hes totally flawless paris puts down other people in order to make himself feel and look superior by comparison. Usually through backhanded compliments because hes not allowed to insult people.. hes very good at picking his words just right to where he cant really be punished for it. Because of his personality though most people are intimidated by him or straigjt up terrified of him so he doesnt have any close relationships... he sees glisten (whos supposed to be inferior to him) having fun and laugjign with people and having Actual Friends who arent terrified of him and it makes him so fucking mad. He thinks glisten has the friendships he deserves. glisten on the other hand just sees paris whos better at hiding his loneliness than him and the things paris says makes him feel like hes a loser and everyone thinks paris is so perfect. Part of him wonders if paris is even lonely or not - glisten is always in denial about being lonely so seeing paris act so flawlessly he cant help but think maybe hes just dramatic about it himself. it makes him feel like shit in comparison </3 Paris has this burning rage toward him and glisten is more submissively hopeless. Theyre both incredibly jealous of each other

toodles and twinkles are literally the best of friends they are TWO PEAS IN A POD!!! Theyre so much like each other they both love to help people :] however toodles is jealous of twinkles because the toons in her generation let her help a lot more.. shes still treated like a child but the older toons just seem so much more willing to let her help and praise her for her abilities :'] She seems like this perfect little angel child that everyone loves and toodles wishes that she could feel that loved and respected by her fellow toons... Meanwhile twinkles is. A little scared of toodles. Shes been trained to never cry or laugh too loud or get mad or get too excited so seeing toodles being so open and genuine and Emotional makes her panic a little because she thinks toodles will get hurt </3 they get along with each other best out of all the gen1/gen2 toon pairs though. Least problematic duo but they do still have their issues...

Rodger and watson do Not Fucking Get Along. dear god. watson likes to speak his mind and can get a little rough but he also does it out of pure love and care for others. Hes a very empathetic person and reacts in.. exaggerated ways i guess lol. tones it down a little in front of kids but he still snaps sometimes. Hes one of the known troublemakers of the new toons but hes not the BIGGEST troublemaker he just likes to pick fights whenever he thinks something is unfair. Compare this to rodger whos much more reserved and a little selfish... watson of course is a detective too, and even though he and rodger are different people, theyre still meant to be similar. He knows rodger's deal. he can see through that shitty facade. the main reason he hates rodger though is because he outright refuses to help himself, ignores all the advice he gives to other people when applied to himself, and of course because of that takes it out on toodles... toodles immediately liked watson because yknow they just see each other as another rodger and another twinkles and after hearing some of the shit toodles says about rodger he is just disgusted by the guy. watson voice GO GET THERAPY!!!!! rodger totally understands why watson hates him hes not Dumb but hes in denial. he thinks watson is unprofessional and impulsive and rude. does not like him one bit either. hes also a little jealous of how open watson is able to be and how honest he is (intentional for all the gen1 toons to be jealous of something the gen2 toons have). They both think that toodles and twinkles should be adopted by them

My mom keeps throwing at me hurtful sht and i dont even feel like she’s aware of what she’s saying it’s like she’s not my mother idk whats going on i don’t wanna paint this bad picture of her she really is a good mother but idk whats been going on w her the past like year and a half i feel like she’s got something against she constantly tries to put me down no matter how much effort i put in to show her love as somebody who isn’t affectionate, i don’t hug and kiss or any of that its more of helping her out and being easy on her even when i dont wanna do something im trying my best but i feel like she doesn’t see anything and i know the biggest problem is communication as somebody who doesnt show my feelings or speak about stuff that happens it fukks up situations even more though as i said then she doesn’t know a lot of stuff i had and assumes everytime she notices something wrong in me let’s say Ive been home for the past days and didn’t have the courage to go out because I’m feeling insecure and embarrassed of the way I look she’d ask me to go out even buy ice cream or anything, nothing wrong til here, Id be like “im not in the mood rn” she’d start bringing up every bad thing about myself, she’d start using things I had the courage to tell her before and start using them as arguments against me when she wants to start a problem with me and it really does hurt for example one day i had a school field trip and I said i dont want to go (I was always left out in class, was everybody’s last choice, nobody looked at me and no matter what I try i feel like people keep pushing me away+I was bullied by this group of guys+girls so was even more sensitive and uncomfortable with going especially that this trip was 2h long to get to the spot) I make the decision and simply tell my mom that I wouldn’t want to go she kept asking me several times and she would tell me some things like “let all your friends have fun, some things to say that I’m boring I always wanna stay home, she kept throwing stuff like that on me and at some point i cant take it anymore, a couple of months will pass and she would keep bringing that story up and mocking me about the fact that I didn’t wanna go on a field trip

if I didn’t wanna go there is a reason and she knows me damn well that I’m not the type of person to speak about stuff, I keep everything to myself, she never knew that I hadn’t had friends and was always left out til this year she realized, she still doesn’t know I got bullied, she knows nun of that and I know that the main problem is communication as even as I’m growing up with my mom I’m thinking I should try my best to open up to her, nobody else but her, I’m going out of my comfort zone for her and I learned to do that even with other people Im not as afraid to speak as I was, even with that I am 100% convinced it’s from her not knowing how to communicate with me, I would speak maturely with a low tone with her and you never know her reaction she would start shouting and start a fight, thr latest one I went out of my mind, broke down and started screaming histerically, it’s not of my nature as a calm person but I’m done hiding sht on the inside, it kept stacking up until I let it all out I couldn’t handle it anymore

if you don’t have an idea about a situation or about something please don’t try to interfere, you’re lacking so much background information and just information in general so either stay our or even if youre trying to help out try to get as much information as possible and don’t react to sht too quickly before knowing the rest as it’s never enough, you’re not in my shoes so there’s no need to waste your time or my time trying to understand

Out of curiosity, what would you say Emilia’s main character flaws are? As in, her vices and failures of character.

i feel like her biggest and most obvious one is her self-sacrificing nature. it's one of the first things we learn about her, she always puts others before herself to her own deteriorate. stopping to help strangers when her entire future as the potential leader of the country is on the line and trying to justify it to herself. subaru himself says that anyone who lives like that will end up wasting their life. and as an extension of this shes also really bad at asking for help, in frozen bonds it takes her almost dying to finally call out puck's name which was largely her arc, but she only really learned to depend on one person (well, spirit) and still doesnt take well to being helped. during her big fight with subaru one of her biggest gripes was that he got hurt for her sake, but she NEVER asked him to do that. the thing is subaru was being an asshole and she had every right to be mad at him, but she had NO reason to blame herself for anything either.

and this also all ties back to her insecurity, her lack of faith in herself. like i said she bonds with puck after frozen bonds, but after he disappears in arc 4 she doesn't know what to do with herself. she needed that support and ends up learning on subaru for it in a way thats detrimental to her (almost going in the opposite direction). despite the fact that she WANTS to shoulder everything by herself... she cant. shes not that strong willed, no one is. the shit shes gone through is too much and she basically has to have one person to be her rock. but thats part of what arc 4 is for her anyway, learning to stand by herself but also accept love from others.

she doesnt trust her own abilities much but combined with that she also seems to have a fear of being useless- of being weak and unable to handle it all. she HAS to handle it all to prove herself as a worthy human being, since her existence itself is usually treated as a sin. she has to prove she's good. look at her! shes doing good! shes taking the trial! shes helping people! please dont think shes bad! please dont think shes a witch! shes just a normal girl! shes useful! she can do it! until she cant. if she buckles under the pressure she would run and hide or latch heavily onto One Person (fortuna, puck, subaru, whatever. someone. anyone.) theres a limit to how much a person can take.

she also tends to assume the worst in herself. she wants to prove that shes good and all but shes also kind of her worst critic. she picks apart her own motivation (to thaw the ice of elior forest and unfreeze all the elves) and she sees that as SELFISH. despite everything i said about how self sacrificing she is she sees herself as a selfish person! because in her eyes /wanting/ something is bad. having your own motivations is bad and selfish. as if the other royal selection candidates dont all have personal agendas (anastasia wants money. priscilla wants power. felt wants chaos. crusch wants order.)

and all this combined, she also greatly struggles to accept the love of other people. she doesnt realize how much puck loves her until the end of frozen bonds, until then she literally though he would just leave her some day. she straight up does not understand why subaru loves her so much and finds it confusing and jarring, at least at first. she cant love herself so she doesnt understand why others do. eventually she does learn to accept love though, and a little detail ive always liked is that when subaru tells her "i love you" she doesnt say it back but she does say "thank you" because it still gets through and still means something, and she can take her time if she ever wants to say it back. when emilia "breaks" and starts depending on him heavily the fact that she says it back is DISTURBING to him because it makes him realize how far she was pushed.

basically emilia is a deeply traumatized individual who has no faith in herself, so she tries to make up for it by carrying as much as she can on her own. when that fails she needs someone to learn on heavily and can grow dependent on them. but she has a hard time accepting that people love her because she cant love herself.

Y/N had been involved in the DEO after since she was little, with her father being an agent there, and throughout all her years, nothing and no one was able to throw her off course.

Until Lena came along.

As soon as she saw the tall, dark brunette with thick red lipstick, enter the room and instantly take charge, for the first time in her career, Y/N was severely distracted. Despite the paperwork she was filling out and how determined she had been to finish, Y/N found herself unable to keep her eyes locked on her computer, and instead her gaze trailed after the dashing woman.

Every time Lena neared her desk, Y/N found herself frozen in her seat, the thoughts vanishing from her head and being replaced by fluffy clouds of nothing-ness, only able to concentrate on Lena’s lovely perfume. 

It seemed that she wasn’t doing a very good job of hiding her newfound crush (not that she was actively trying to hide it), because when the DEO had Lena assemble a team of agents to help her with her research, Alex had eagerly suggested Y/N to be one of the agents in that group. 

The moment she heard her name her palms slapped down on the keyboard in surprise and her head popped up, eyes frantic to adjust to whatever she was now being involved with. “Huh?” Was her ‘elegant’ response. 

Alex did not bother to conceal her smirk. “Y/N, you’re going to be apart of Lena’s team,” she said, and when Lena gracefully turned to her, lips curling into a big smile, Y/N felt butterflies swarm her stomach, bouncing around inside. 

The rest was history: by the end of the week, Lena had asked Y/N out on a date, and by the end of the month, they were dating. Y/N had Alex to thank for their relationship and it only strengthened her already close friendship with Alex and, by extension Alex’s younger sister, Kara - also known as Supergirl. 

When Lena and Y/N had gotten more serious, Kara revealed that she was Supergirl, and the couple began going to Kara’s superfriends game nights. 

Their relationship was blooming and Y/N had never been at a happier time in her life. A wonderful, committed girlfriend, a steady job she loved, and amazing and supportive friends. Everything was going great, so when Y/N started to notice Kara hanging out with Lena more and more often, she was in a blissfully ignorant state and did not notice what was actually happening. 

Well, she didn’t notice at first, but when she was going to drop off some papers with Alex who had been training with Kara at the moment, she overheard the sisters’ conversation just before she walked into the room. 

“Alex, I just don’t know what to do.”

“You don’t do anything, Kara . . . I mean, Lena is in love with Y/N.” 

“I know, I know, it’s just so hard seeing them together! Honestly, I think I may be in love with Lena . . .” 

Y/N stopped listening at that point, and instead turning around on her heels, dropping the paperwork on Alex’s desk before sinking into her own seat. She absentmindedly checked her email, not focusing as a gloomy cloud settled in her stomach, almost causing nausea.

As she begin to recall the past couple weeks, Y/N internally facepalmed. It had been so obvious! With how Kara constantly stood next to Lena, found excuses to touch her arm or her hand, laughed at everything she said, and constantly complimented her.

How had she not noticed? And more importantly — how did Lena not notice?!

Shit, did Lena notice?

No, that was silly . . .

But she had to - it was clear as day!

Did she . . . Why didn’t she stop it?

Did she enjoy it?

Did she feel the same way?

A feeling of dread overcame and smashed her previous happiness like a large and powerful wave crashing onto a beach. Y/N forced herself to take deep breaths as her mind went into a frenzy, trying and failing to come up with some other reasonable explanation for this.

But she couldn’t convince herself of any other one, so for the next couple days, her behavior had changed drastically. Y/N kept to herself, only spoke when someone was directly speaking to her, and had done her best to avoid Kara and Lena — which was difficult since she lived with Lena.

When the girlfriends were spending their weekend night at their home, Lena finally had a change to confront Y/N.

“Y/N, can I ask you something?”

Y/N’s eyes were trained on the television screen which was showing a movie they had both seen a thousand times. She made no indication of having heard her girlfriend.

“Y/N.”

It took a few moments, but finally her eyes slowly moved away from the team, yet it didn’t meet Lena’s eyes. “Sure,” she murmured.

“There’s something wrong, Y/N, I can tell. Can you tell me what it is?”

The next seconds were agonizingly slow.

“N-nothing is wrong.”

“Y/N, please, I just want to help,” Lena persisted.

Another agonizing couple of seconds.

“Please don’t leave me for her.”

A loud sob left Y/N’s parted lips as she curled forward, wrapping her arms around herself, dipping her head and trembling.

Lena had not expected this and sat up, drawing her eyebrows together. “What? For who?” She demanded, and bit her lip as she hadn’t intended to be so, well, demanding.

“K-Kara. She likes you. And she’s been showing it for weeks and you haven’t stopped her. I-I can’t compete with Supergirl,” Y/N sniffled.

Lena blinked, processing this. After a couple moments, the only sound filling the air being the dull T.V and Y/N’s sniffs, Lena moved closer to her girlfriend.

“No, Y/N, Kara cannot compete with you,” Lena corrected softly.

Y/N slowly picked her head up, and when she turned her head to face her girlfriend, the brunette saw how puffy and red her eyes were.

Lena continued. “I’m so sorry, Y/N, I didn’t notice that she liked me at all - I swear. And I don’t return her feelings. I only love you.”

Y/N’s trembles stopped. “Really?” She asked, and when Lena nodded she happily gasped and then added, “Oh, Len, I’m sorry for thinking that you would like her — I just love you so much and I don’t want to lose you.”

Lena shook her head. “Don’t apologize. You have nothing to apologize for,” she said, before thinking and then leaning forward, locking Y/N’s lips with a kiss, which she gladly returned.

The couple continued on their night, snuggling and trying a movie that none of them had watched before. They fell asleep on the couch, Lena’s arms wrapped around Y/N.

Q: Do you think Typhon was an abusive father? He says he was a 'third rate dad' but doesnt explain why. Randy said he refused to touch Tyreen after Leda died. His reaction to killing his kids could just be bad writing. Troy said he thought he was a freak, but that could be Troy's insecurity. Our only evidence is what Typhon and the Twins say, but Typhon is suspicious already and the Twins are shown to be manipulative. Was Typhon a clueless father trying his best or an abusive asshat?

Hooo boy. Been sitting on this one a while. In we go. 

Was Typhon DeLeon an abusive father: A nerd essay by me, cause I’m a sad fuck.

Yeah. He was. 100%. Absolutely.

Just not intentionally, and for reasons that were coming from good places. I can’t stand Typhon but I’m going to remain relatively unbiased in this bar insulting him as much as possible cause fuck Typhon. Eww.

Bl3 left us with shockingly little information to go on when it came to figuring out how all this went down, how Typhon’s upbringing or lack thereof of the Calypso Twins warped them into the broken monstrous Gods they became, and if he was actually really to blame or not.

We have four main players in this puzzle. Typhon, Troy, and Tyreen DeLeon, and Leda Calypso. One of these characters didn’t get a single line of dialogue and was reduced to being a fucktoy attached to a womb, so poor Leda is out of the equation.

We have a third party write up on Typhon released after the game containing a lot of content that was never in the game, including some of his logic behind the choices he made here.

And finally, we have the information given to us by the three remaining characters. Typhon, and the Calypso Twins.

Breaking this down further, we have two characters at odds with each other, Typhon and Tyreen. 

Tyreen hates Typhon. Hates. It can’t be stressed enough that the only motivation the writers left in the game for poor Ty, was how much she hated her father. Tyreen however, is also a grade A dramaqueen and someone who I cannot bring myself to trust completely when it comes to her describing how Typh treated the twins. I am positive everything she says is based on a truth, but how much of it has been over exaggerated and built on after years of brooding and hatred is up to us to work out, and that’s quite hard to do.

Typhon on the other hand, is a grade A bullshitter. We learn this through his logs and through actually just *talking* to the vile little prick. He speaks in anecdotes, he relies on constantly retelling stories to communicate. I wouldn’t trust the little shit as far as I could throw him. He constantly exaggerates his accolades, his sexual prowess, likely how much his wife was infatuated with him, his skill in adventuring, everything, but he still confirms he was not a good father, so that really says a lot. 

Finally, we have the only person I actually trust when it comes to their opinion on this. Finally, we have Troy.

Something I’ve noticed after chatting with friends about this and covering old content, is how little Troy Calypso ever seems to lie or bullshit. He is shockingly honest, it’s a real surprise compared to Tyreen. He’s truthful to the vault hunters, his emotions are pretty much worn on his sleeve around Ty, and even in dialogue with the likes of Katagawa he is direct and not nearly as “flowery” in his communication as she is. 

He hates the majority of the COV followers and shows a complete lack of coddling them, and he does the same with the VH and raiders. He’s direct in his communication in general, especially when alone and out of persona.

Troy gives us more backstory about the twin’s family life than literally any other point in the game does, and he explains it genuinely, 1:1 and privately to the VH over echocom. He has no reason to lie. There is no gain in this for him, there is no grounds for me to think anything he said was false because lying in this situation wouldn’t match his established character. 

Troy does not hate Typhon. 

Troy did not want to leave Nekrotafeyo. 

Troy did not want to leave his father.

The info Troy shares with us is that Typhon couldn’t let Ty out of his sight after Leda had her “accident”, and he was overbearing in his worry for her. Troy was sidelined as a child and felt that his father just saw him as a freak while doting (unwantedly it seems) on Tyreen. This may not have been directly the case, but again, there is no reason to think Troy is making this up. He doesn’t make up things like this for pity, he actually seems quite averse to looking for pity in general.

Tyreen says Typhon kept them in a cage, that he was afraid the Bandits in the universe would tear them apart, and instead held them prisoner. This is semi factual, but definitely blown out of proportion because again, Troy doesn’t feel this way. Typhon (according to the additional info in the writeup I linked) was terrified of what corporations would do to twin Sirens -considering one is male-, and that’s a really valid concern.

They would absolutely be hunted by the likes of Hyperion if Jack hadn’t been balls deep in his mad rush for the warrior at the time. Typh wouldn’t let them leave home based on this, and while I can understand his logic, there are three main things to consider here:

Troy and Tyreen both seem to think Typhon thought Ty was a monster and that was the reason they were not allowed leave. That is fucked. There is no way they both came up with this out of the blue, and Typhon must have at some point said something or acted in a way to imply this was the reason. That is horrific. That is beyond abusive to say to children, and it was definitely a factor in how warped their mentality towards themselves over time became.

The twins were so terrified of Typhon finding the ship parts Troy was working on and destroying them, that they hid them inside their mothers grave. Again. This is horrific. This is not something young adults who aren’t abused would consider doing. Troy has never alluded to hating Typhon and still agreed with Tyreen this needed to be done. The fear there is palpable, this is not the behavior of young adults who’s relationship with a parent is healthy.

The twins and Typhon had a complete lack of trust between them. A family with this level of distrust has encountered abuse at some point. Typhon was so distrusting of his near adult children ( the twins sounded very late teens - early twenties on Nekro ) that he refused to allow them to have any semblance of a life. He refused to let them be free, because he so feared they would either be incapable of caring for themselves, or would hurt others. The twins distrusted their father so much that they had to resort to hiding their escape means from him. Even Troy, who thought once the ship was complete they’d be taking Typhon with them, didn’t trust him enough to let him know what he was working on. They were afraid of what their father would do if he found out. 

This dynamic drips abuse. If it was just Tyreen telling this information to us, I’d find it hard to take as factual as I said earlier, it would feel blown out of proportion, but Troy telling us, and the echologs existing and backing it up? Well, it’s not a lie. It did happen.

The final piece for me is how Typhon responded to Troy being dead. 

He couldn’t have fucking cared less. He did not give a flying shit. 

The one person who had shown any regret towards leaving him, who had cared about him, and Typhon didn’t bat an eyelid that he was dead. He gives an “Ah well he was a monster anyway lol” response, then immediately starts trying to baby talk his wittle girl, his ickle Starlight. It’s gross. It was vile.

It really showed where his value lay and had always lay, and confirmed Troy had been telling the truth when he’d awkwardly tried to explain how Typhon had just always seen him as a freak, while overly doting on Tyreen to the point of smothering her. 

He was a terrible father, and while his abuse came from a place of concern and love, it was absolutely abuse. 

Had he so much as tried to find his kids, had he cared about them an iota more then sitting on a dead planet jacking off to memories of his wife for nearly a decade, the twins might have stood a chance. They might have been able to be happy.

La Liga de los 5, México has their own heroes [SPOILERS]

Superheroes are very popular now days, kids love them very much, so let Anima Studios jump into the opportunity to tell the story of group of heroes with unique and not orthodox superpowers. Mexicans have a new group of heroes and they are spicy! 

Sinopsis:

After their parents passed away, Chema and Dolores have been living together while hiding. After using her powers and getting the attention of the main villain, she gets kidnapped and is held to be used for a ritual that brings back the worst evil the world has seen. Now Chema has to look for his parents´ comrades to save his little sister before it´s too late. 

Art design and animation: 

Let me get something out of the way: people always talk shit about this studio and about any animated Mexican movie. Mexican movies tend to be either gross humor and obscenities when it comes to animated movies, at least the ones with Huevo Cartoon, even Mexicans talk shit about their own studio! I hate that. Animation here is complicated to take out, people get inspire and do try to give something, to tell a story they believe in and show their creativity. People inside and out of the country have to understand we dont have the same resources but we do try to make something good. Ana y Bruno might not have looked pleasant but what it doesnt have in animation it has in character development and story. La leyenda de la Nahuala might have looked awkward, but the story and the effects (at the time) looked and gave slight horror to the kids who watch it. It´s a try and fail, it´s been a REALLY long time for animation in Mexico and this creators are trying their best, the main things they are using to tell stories might be viewed as over the top but those are practically the main parts of our culture. Of course there´s more, there are legends and places and such but for the love of god give the studio and the creators a break. They are trying to entertain you, they are trying to tell a story of bravery, of family, of accepting one self. STOP SHIT TALKING ABOUT MEXICAN MOVIES AS IF THEY ALL SUCK. THERE ARE PLENTY OF GOOD MEXICAN MOVIES, OLD AND NEW. SAYING MEXICAN MOVIES SUCK IS NOT A PERSONALITY TRAIT, CONSTRUCTIVE CRITICISM EXIST, YOU ARE NOT COOL FOR HATING A MEDIA. 

Now where was I? Right. 

As always, Anima Studios amazes me with their different animation skills and artwork. Maybe for some people who are used to Pixar or Dreamworks this doesnt look appealing, but hey, it looks way better than I thought, this is actually an improvement from previous works. Their style is recognizable and distinguish. If you dont know which studio is Anima or what they´ve done, maybe you´ve heard of La leyenda de la Nahuala. No? How about Legend Quest? Yep. They made Legend Quest. 

The character design is always a treat, everyone look different from each other and always pop in their own ways. Even the background characters look different from each other, this people actually take care to make sure everyone looks unique. For some reason they didn´t use as many models as they used too, it look pretty empty in comparison to their other works but considering this is AN OPERA PRIMA from Maverick Núñez I think they did a really good job. 

The main protagonists also come in different shapes:

Just... Look. You can tell everyone apart. 

The backgrounds  are really eye catching to being waaay too different from the main characters animation, that´s like they common thing now. I dont really mind, they capture what A MEXICAN CITY LOOKS LIKE NOT LIKE OTHER USA OR WHATEVER OTHER COUNTRY PORTRAYS IT. I can´t find many pictures since it has been almost a week after it came out. 

The animation looked very fluid, one thing that is really awesome is that they use different types of animation, you have the main 2D and they mix up the 3D animation for villains and other models of backgrounds. Sure it pops up but it doesn´t do it as awkward as before, they made sure to blended a bit better. The effects are fitting and blend WAY better than other movies they´ve done. It looks part of the characters and part of the animation than a separated after effects thing. Anima Studios has improved a lot. 

Sound and editing: 

I don´t know if you know this, but sometimes some Mexican movies have troubles with sound, general sounds. Sometimes they are way to loud, other times way too low, then it has too much noise or sounds like a sound taken from the internet. This is one of the reasons some people don´t like Mexican movies, though the ones I´ve seen so far have improved more (And let me tell ya, Hollywood movies sometimes have sucky sound too. Really bad sound design sometimes, specially for horror movies and they HAVE A BIGGER BUDGETS! For example: The Conjuring used 20 000 000 dollars, Belzebuth, cost around 191 500 dollars. Like... Bruh). 

In this case the sound design was on well done, it wasn´t over the top and the sounds made sense. effects for the cars and the steps do sound like they were done. The designers really tried and accomplish, the dialogues were at the same volume and never were uneven. I liked they didnt use a lot of popular songs, Pachuco was actually a good song for the car chase scene. The music? BOI. I loved it. For some reason they have this whimsical and epic music and I have no idea where they got it. Even in La Leyenda de la Nahuala they always had this type of music: really well made, fitting to the scene, perfect between events and its not over used, letting the silence spaces to be silent and/or letting the background sounds do the job. 

The editing had a really fast pace. I´ve notice lately that a lot of animated movies are really fast now or feel really fast, this was way too fast. There´s not exactly enough time to breath, the events pass so quickly you have to pay attention to what´s going on. Even at moments where there has an emotional moment it passes so fast because of a next action. At some point they slow it down but then it makes it fast again. I think the main problem is the time, it is a 1:30 movie like many others but I feel this movie was longer than that so they had to reedit it to make it go faster. Plot is understandable, just fast. 

Writing and Characters: 

Ah, shit! Here we go again. I like this studio, I like the movies they´ve made (not all of them. Agente -P2? seriously, guys? That was a dark time...), but the writing has always been slightly awkward for me. Sometimes they have too many pauses or what they say doesn´t land correctly. I thought it was the voice actors but no, guys. The voice actors are really good, we have a lot of talent. In general is the writing. They did improve a lot, the pacing and the dialogues were cleaner and sounded natural but for some reason this one has the same problem in certain parts. It´s not like people dont talk like this I think its the pauses that make it weirder. Other than that, the story of the origins of the main 2 is not really original. Then again, as I said before, Originality is a lie. The characters and their powers are the original part. The tale of two siblings that become orphans and have to hide because the main villain is looking for them is old, its what happens around and how the characters act that matters. 

It could have used a bit more of a build up, maybe more interactions between the siblings to know them better. The opening scene and introduction was great, it shows you the characters, what happened to the parents and then you flashforward to the main two in their... teenage years? I think they are teens. It´s perfect, but other than that we don´t know Chema or Dolores that well, we know Chema is careful and gets worried a lot while Dolores is a bit more carefree and cheerful, and they interact and you can tell their personalities. i just think it could have used a bit more of their relationship. Dolores powers involve turning into a ghost, flying, going through walls and apparently, being a vessel to bring the evil Dr. Vampire. 

The other 4 characters are La Tuna, Catrina, Tetlepanquetzal and Tin Martin. 

Tin Martin is kind of annoying to me. He is smart and builds the different gadgets the heroes use, he is really useful and also the comic relief though he actually shows he cares about what I presume are his nephews. Its really competent in his area, all the gadgets he provides work perfectly which is odd to me, its usual for this type of guys to have something that doesnt work. It´s a nice change. 

La Tuna is a wrestler and has a goofy look, but this guy knows how to fight and really well. He is extremely strong, as strong or more than Tetlepanquetzal, and he actually has a soft side that isn´t shown as a weakness. He gives advice to Chema when he is down and encourages him to be brave and to believe in himself. Chema is really insecure because of his powers that are to make everyone get spiced. I´m not kidding, his power is to make the air spiced, like if you take chilli peppers and throw them in peoples faces, he does that without having any peppers around. Tuna tells him to believe in himself because his powers dont define him, Tuna had issues too because of his short stature and his powers are becoming prickly and secreting slimy substance (you know, like a nopal. Tuna is a prickly pear) but tells him his father told him that non of that matter, what really matter was who they were inside. Its a really nice and touching scene, Chema is a kid who had to grow fast and misses his parents and now he has a couple parental figures to help him with whats troubling him. 

Catrina is kind of a fresa? Like a rich queen or something, or its portrayed like that. Stylish and such, but she is loyal and does care about his friends and dont diminish them, she only teases them because they´ve known each other for a while. She is powerful, summoning bones to be use as armor and to kick the bad guys butts. Catrina has a strong personality, not taking shit and trying to focus on every situation, she is practically the glue that keeps the team on track. 

Tetlepanquetzal is the most left out character there is. He is silent, his expressions are ok but he doesn´t provide with any remarks. He does his job, his power is really cool too. He transforms into any animal he touches for a certain amount of time. He is the extra muscle, Tetlepanquetzal is smart but really goofy, due to having animals characteristics from the transformations he does  lot of goofy stuff but other than that its just like a silent wall. Strong wall that is. 

The villains... We have 2 which one of them I have no idea how it´s called. They never called him by his name in the whole movie. One of the henchman calls him boss so I will call him by that. Boss is a pyrotechnic mastermind, he controls the fireworks and uses that to destroy everything. He is the one that wants to use Dolores and open a portal to bring Dr. Vampire (which is the second villain). The reason? He used to have a daughter, and her daughter died in his house because of fireworks going off, she was burned or suffocated. The Dr. Vampire promised him he would bring her back if Boss brought him back.

Turns out the vampire lied and kind of turn his back on Boss, who now felt like an idiot and wanted to save Dolores. (There´s a point where Dolores enters Boss´ mind with the help of an obsidian mirror and sees the flashback of the daughter dying, so both characters do kind of have a mild bond) 

Dr. Vampire is the weirdest, dumbest looking villain I have ever seen. He looks like a edgy teenager but looks old as fuck. It´s super weird and is completely evil, bringing certain Mexican monuments to live and bring havoc to Mexico City. like... Holy shit, he has red messy hair, long face, nose and teeth, wears A FREAKING GOTH CLOAK AND BOOTS and has a trident. It´s a weird design for a vampire. We don´t know shit about this character, only that he was supposed to be brought back by Boss and that´s all. BUT HE IS PURE EVIL! 

They manage to defeat the villain by fighting each of the monuments and then fighting against the vampire, Chema and Dolores have a special combination that not only provokes an explosion but also gives the other 3 characters a power boost. I dont know why that happens, there´s no explanation. If there´s more of it I WISH AND HOPE THERE´S A SERIES. THIS!!! THIS RIGHT HERE:

THIS CAN BE TURN INTO A SERIES. PLEASE, NETFLIX: YOU ALREADY TOOK LA LEYENDA DE LA NAHUALA, TAKE THIS ONE! PLEASE!!! PLEASE!!! 

(If you take a closer look you can see the aura is in a pepper form, its so funny to me. The big pictures at the movie theater glow at a certain angle if they are stroke with a light) 

There´s something I like a lot and that´s that there isn´t a separation moment, they never get separated because of ¨I have to prove myself¨ or ¨i need to do this alone¨. They get separated due to circumstances like following a truck while others take care of a fallen comrade, but Chema is never alone. He is with at least one of them, mostly La Tuna (that´s how we get their emotional talk) and IM SO GLAD THEY DIDNT DO THAT KIND OF CLICHE. Chema never fights with them for stupid things or misunderstandings, they all work whatever misunderstanding right then and there and always stick together because THEY KNOW HOW DANGEROUS IT CAN BE. AND THEY LISTEN TO EACH OTHER! ITS GREAT! THEY ARE GREAT! 

Also the last scene, which parodies marvel movies:

Tin Martin: OH NO! A giant snake is eating Trompa´s wall

La Tuna: Let the snake eat it. 

(People call Trump El Trompas, trompas has several meanings like trumpet but we use it to also refer to the duck face) 

Conclusion:

Superheroes are really overdone. Marvel, you are ok I guess but please just let yourself die (At least after you give me Black Widow and the next Guardians of the Galaxy). In México the close to a superheroe we had was Santos and Blue Demon, being really popular wrestlers and movie stars and all in the silver era. Sure, we also have Villainous that explores villains and heroes that TO ME ARE ALL MEXICAN UNTIL PROVEN THE CONTRARY, but this is a movie not a web-series (that has probably being cancelled ´cause Ituriel doesn´t seem to know how to administrate his company and properly treat his workers). 

Anima Studios took the chance with Maverick Núñez and they really made a good job. As an Opera Prima it looks and sounds awesomely, the writing could still use some work but other than that it is an entertaining movie. It has a nice message, the characters are really well made from design to voice acting and the story is interesting. From what I read it had a really good opening, but it didn´t quite made it in the box office. Still, I think you should give it a watch, not because it´s a Mexican movie, but because it´s a superhero movie that just takes place in Mexico. It´s different from Marcianos vs Mexicanos because that one was full on ridiculousness and comedy while this one is drama with comedy. If you followed Anima Studios, you will see how much they have improve and advance. This company was and is the start of animation in México and they are becoming better. 

Now I´m waiting for their next movie: Las Leyendas: El origen. And you know why I am excited? Because it´s 2 movies from the same Studio in 1 year, they are really becoming bigger. 

Animation has never been this amazing, and Mexican Animation is growing faster and better. Please, be objective but supportive. Don´t be destructive for the sake of being destructive. People are trying their best and it is paying off in my opinion.

soooo today sucked ass. i was in a shit mood today bc of my friend and the situation that happened yesterday and she really messaged me like nothing happened.. 

then just when i finally have enough confidence to wear my hair out of my face, my manager walks up to me and asks why i have a lazy.. first, i dont have a lazy eye. seconds i have a marcus gunn jaw-wink syndrome and a droopy eyelid, so thanks for pointing that out.. now i dont wanna leave my hair curly. i want to straighten it so i can use my bangs to hide my eye. I have always been made fun of for it and it really sucks. Ive had grown ass men literally walk up to me when i have my hair out of my face and asks whats wrong with my eye. Like that shit is sooo fucking embarrassing. i dont know whats worse, having a kid who doesnt know any better ask me that or a grown ass adult who should know better ask me. and my manager proceeds to ask me why i have it  ??? ummmm im sorry ??? trust me if it was up to me i wouldnt have a droopy eyelid with a very rare condition thing. and then to make matters worse hes like hmm well i think its cool that you walk around like this *then proceeds to try and imitate my droopy eye* so now im all self conscious and insecure and dont want to be seen without my hair in my face to cover it up.. im highly embarrassed and i wanted to fucking cry..

then to top it all off i came to the crushing realisation that i can never make it as an actress for many reasons, the 2 main ones being that i have no way into the industry, (my friend says she knows someone but she lies a lot and idk if i can trust her on that and honestly rn i dont wanna be around her rn so thats out) and the second being that literally everyone in the world would make fun of me for my eye. like if a grown man whos in his 40′s is willing to ask me and then proceed to try and imitate my eye, then whos to say that everyone else wont?? and that sucks, bc all i have ever wanted since i was 10 was to be an actress and i just cant go thru people laughing and making fun of me for it. and now idk what to do, bc i cant follow my dreams and that was like the only thing i was good at. i have nothing else. im not good at anything so im fucked and yeah.

Ahh, thats so very kind of you, Im always happy to chat about my hyperfixations (always looking for an excuse to ramble)

definitely always find myself annoyed with Johnny's insistence that she was kidnapped because of him, that's usually the part of the game where i just scream that i hate johnny.

Selfish bastard that he is, plus, I always got the vibe he's not super into the net stuff in general... maybe just me, but he never really good see or bother himself with understanding someone's life outside of its impact on him and thinking everything is about him.

I also think its so interesting how much they sort of try to bring up the spiritual ramifications of the engram. V potentially can be very oddly interested in knowing if an engram can find heaven or hell or find some sort of spirtual peace. They talk to the monks about it and try to talk to Johnny about his thoughts about it in the sinnerman quest; and are shocked to learn Johnny doesnt think about it.

Judy i think is presented pretty well, definitely better than i expected, as far as the handling of the wlw romance. Though, to me with women love interests being involved in the main plot, being more directly presented to V. The unskippable Alt sex scene. Stuff like the ads still in 2077 still predominantly objectifying women. Womens sexuality and bodies are more on display than mens. Which is where I say it caters more to het men, between these things and that traditionally thats what big game titles do because that tends to to be the majority of their audience.

As far as Johnny goes, I do personally see him as bisexual. There is lore, book materials. Ive seen posted talking about him having sex with Kerry and other men. And I saw some people saying they were able to get it, but Ive never heard it in game. So, it may be cut content where in the male strip club Johnny talks about going there once with kerry and having some level of attraction to men. I dont have links on me at the moment and I'm about to go to bed. But, I dont blame or have any ill will towards anyone who sees Johnny as straight. Headcanons and fandom are meant to be fun. And The game does paint him largely in that light and in my personal opinion, is generally...not great at portraying bisexuality. So, i honestly wouldnt be surprised if him being bi was cut for some reason.

They did also cut him calling V his prince/princess and from mocap footage it does look like they cut out him hugging V at some point.

I know, I love the way Johnny and V can grow and go on a journey together. I know with Johnny and through post mikoshi, save everyone ending, cause i refuse canon on that. My V goes from an insecure girl feeling like she has to prove herself, has to earn and justify her place in this world, hiding her face and voice, putting up a facade to look stronger than she feels. To someone who can proudly take on the world, knowing shes strong enough to take it on with people who love her at her side. Thanks to Johnny and their journey, shes able to let go of those anxieties and truly just live knowing shes found her place in this world, knowing come hell or high water she can take on anything with the people she loves at her side. Cheesy as it may sound.

A couple of thoughts about platonic love. Personally, for me, their intimate intimacy does not fit into the framework of a standard friendship, but I like to see their love as platonic. I think that Johnny is one of those men who first fall in love with the body and build a relationship on sexual attraction. And with Vee, the exact opposite happened. He knew her for the first time, loved her as a person, loved her soul. And then he found himself wanting to touch her and make love to her.

I will say, I obviously ship and see these two together romantically. So, I interpret their interactions, and closeness romantically. I’ve even fallen into the trap of yelling hOW DARE CDPR TELL ME THIS IS PURELY PLATONIC. But, I went into this game wanting to romance Johnny. I wasn’t even on the hype train for this game until probably a month or two max before its actual release, because I saw a gifset of some promo material or something that had V calling Johnny a dick and him calling V a cunt. And that made me instantly ship them and be a Johnny simp, cause I’m a slut for that dynamic. So, like, all of that largely impacted my view of the game and their relationship.

But, something I think that is important that I try to always keep in perspective is that while V has some groundwork and characteristics in game; they are largely an oc insert, especially in fandom as many to most of us disregard canon that conflicts with who our V’s are.

Which is what I fucking love most about this fandom. Im someone who loves OC x Canon, thats been my way of enjoying fandom since I was a kid. So, games like this that have sort of bred a very oc centric fandom are my bread and butter.

There is no V exactly like my V. No V exactly like yours. There are V’s of every race, gender, sexuality. There are V’s with vastly differing personalities and backgrounds. And with that much variety, comes with it changes in ideas and interpretations of dynamics and relationships.

Some V’s end up in a romantic relationship with Johnny, like mine, yours, and other silverv shippers. And even within that parameter there are immense differences in how people see it playing out. I absolutely agree Johnny usually builds physical intimacy and focuses on the sexual and not the emotional side. And for me solid romantic chemistry starts off best with solid platonic chemistry. That being said, my V and Johnny indulge in casual sex and are physically attracted and drawn together by lust more than anything  before they ever really see each other as friends. Then they start to kinda vibe and oh maybe they’re not so bad and become friends and maybe theres something more…; then Johnny fucks up and with all trust broken sexual contact is taken completely off the table and they’re back to square one. Then with him committed to being a better person; they rebuild that friendship without the sexual component, start to each realize they have romantic feelings, and pine for one another convinced the other couldn’t possibly want more. Then eventually slip back into “friends” with benefits, each thinking thats all the other person wants. And its all a wholeass mess cause they’re dumb.

And some people’s V, arent romantic with Johnny. Its platonic through and through, they care strongly for one another are there for one another, won’t only the best for each other without a drop of romantic feelings. Maybe their V isnt into men, or isnt specifically into Johnny. They just don’t vibe that way.

For some V’s maybe the feelings are one sided and unrequited.

Maybe to them their V loves Johnny but he loves Rogue, or is still consumed with the loss of Alt, or has unresolved feelings for Kerry he never worked through in life.

Maybe, Johnny fell in love with V, the person who gave him a second chance, the person who’s stood by him though everything. And their V just really cares for their friend, wants to see him grow for the better. And Johnny has to learn to process and accept that.

And some V’s fuckin hate Johnny. Some V’s dont give him that second chance, dont seek to help him change, and just want this asshole out of their head so they can run off to be with the person they do love.

And I agree they dont fit the traditional standard of a friendship. And they don’t fit the traditional standard of a romantic relationship. They dont fit the traditional standard of any relationship. Just going off canon and general V, the nature of how they’re connected means their relationship is inherently different from any traditional counterpart of what they have. Johnny and V’s relationship, however you choose to interpret it is completely unique to them.

a lil about the kid; Shes 17 at the start of origins a lil rat- shes very aggressive at first (i mean shes always aggressive but the period after her wedding is esp bad). She cools down a bit after that but it can easily get riled up so shes known to start shit for nothing just for the sake of fighting, when she was a kid she was a scrappy lil drowned rat then her mom was killed and she became an even angrier teenage drowned rat and now shes a buff rat. Shes v beefy for an elf and she hears about it a lOT. Every single person she meets is like “ :00 you dont look like an elf”. Due to malnutrition she was scrawny as a kid but now w proper food and equipment shes like.. a beefcake. big ass biceps and shit it freaks ppl out. Shes also kind of a little shit head? Along w starting shit 4 no reason she also likes to make light out of everything and make fun of everyone. Not in exactly a mean spirited way, but in like that spongebob mimics what someone says mockingly meme way. Thats her. Has the sense of humor and general maturity level of a 12 year old. Thinks farts are funny and is the type to chase people around with a dead squirrel for fun. VERY cocky, sure of herself and always willing to prove herself but only to cover deep insecurity. Very loud and likes to garner attention, LOVES to annoy ppl for fun/to get a reaction out of them. Immature, confrontational and obnoxious. On surface level shes just a very irritating arrogant asshole, which is true, and what she wants everyone to believe. She purposely overplays her own negative traits in order to hide any and all emotion/insecurities. Likes to pretend shes all that in a bag of chips and flaunt her shit and act like she doesnt care about anything except fart jokes, but is at heart good and cannot see injustice/ someone suffering and walk by, willing to sacrifice herself for the greater good without hesitation. Notices a lot and genuinely cares about everyone, but acts like she doesnt give a shit bcs shes got a reputation to uphold. In short, chaotic good pretending to be chaotic neutral/evil. Is genuinely an immature asshat but also sensitive and caring, which she tries to cover up with being more of an immature asshat.

Cathedral Tower Defense Game character ideas and stuff so far! I’ve talked about some of these before but I wanna just compile it in summary form, and try and get thinking about more to add. It’d be so cool if I could make it like an early suikoden game where you have the world’s biggest party selection! Or at least have that equivelant but with recruiting shopkeepers and townbuilders and stuff.

So... long post ahoy!

* Protagonist (Sir/Lady/Master Amity) Your selectable renameable main charrie! A badass disabled veteran who lost their family in the war and ended up defending this cathedral town of strangers in order to prevent another tragedy. They’re generally distrusted at the beginning, have a lot of doubts about what philosophy they should take in life, and its up to you to decide how the story plays out. But no matter what, this protagonist is a cool grumpy comically-serious nerd gramp! (or gran or etc) i really REALLY like the idea of changing them to be an older veteran character, it just works so much better and seriously WHY are there like zero grandma protagonists in anything ever? I will vow to make this one as amazing as possible!!

* Florin Generally supportive yet sassy and lazy deutorogonist helper guy. He’s your first ally in this world and maybe kind of a tutorial, lol. Even though he’s a total cinnamon roll, he’s as distrusted as you because he’s a demon. Even the protagonist kinda wonders why on earth he wants to help them, and whether he’s some sort of enemy spy... His elemental realm is over plants, and he has no greater joy than taking a nice nap amoungst the flowers~

* Malachi At the moment the only fully developed idea I have for another party member, aside from Florin. Though I’m not sure if I want him to be optional or mandatory? In either case when you recruit him he’s the catylyst for a lot of character development for Florin, and they end up becoming like a lil adopted family ^_^ Anyway, Mal is a very young and adorable demon child that the party finds sealed away beneath some ruins. Precociously innocent, he seems unaware that he’s become a monster. I mean, everyone eats rocks, right?

* Admiral Chiffon (wip name) A major recurring enemy turned ally! Chiffon starts off as just the eccentric comic relief member of the opposing army, kinda harmless and kinda entertaining. And you might pity her quite a bit, because her coworkers treat her like absolute shit. I basically invented this character because I got sick of seeing the ‘ha ha flambouyant gross comic relief villain’ thing in recent fire emblems, and wondered what it would be like to have a villain whose LGBTQ status is treated as a sympathising aspect instead, leading to a redemption when she finds people who dont treat her like those damn writers treated everyone :P So yeah, she’s a transgender woman who faces a lot of predjudice in her career, and I hope I can make it very heartwarming when she finds true friendship with our heroes! And also I hope it can make the non-comic-relief villains seem extra disgustingly unforgiveable after you see how badly they treat their own teammates. Her personality is gonna be kind of a greedy merchant sort of person, but what if that archetype was a good character instead. She remains sassy and greedy even when she’s been redeemed, i like a good ‘ol vice-filled hero yknow! Character development is my jam! Also all i know about her design so far is that I think I want her to have stylishly skunk striped hair, to represent greying streaks and all. I was imagining her as the token grandma of the cast before I decided to age up the protagonist lol

* Currently unnamed church matron duo, aka Timon And Pumbaa One of my early-ish undeveloped concepts for non-battling town members. These two are florin’s equivelant, they’re the town workers you start off with before the game really starts. I’m thinking they’d be like nuns/priestesses that worked at this place before you came along, and you have a bit of a rivalry here because they pragmatically know they need you to defend the stronghold but they’re also very wary of you. The ‘timon’ one would be the main one who actually holds all these opinions, a sort of crusty matronly mega paranoid lady who thinks you’re gonna backstab us all at any moment! And she’s some sort of super scary chronic sufferer of resting bitch face, even though she sees herself as the ultimate arbiter of justice everyone else thinks she’s terrifying. Just imagine her trying to hug a baby that just cries as if it saw the face of death! Life sucks when you’re a lawful good character stuck in a chaotic evil character design! And then her partner is a funloving pumbaa-esque team chef, who’s actually kinda too loving and innocent to ever distrust anyone. But she always just falls in with whatever her boss says, its like a pinky and the brain situation. Oh and I’m already kinda preemptively shipping these two before I’ve even finished designing them XD

* Depression jail janitor Starts as a prisoner you take from one of the enemy raids, but he ends up winning your trust and joining your team. Entirely against his will! he’s a chronically depressed man who was forcibly drafted into the evil army even though he doesnt believe in their cause, but now he feels like he’s unforgiveable anyway. So he spends all his time trying to convince you that he is indeed pure evil! But the more humble he is, the more everyone believes in his genuine kindness. Alas! It doesnt help that he also kinda has chronic hero syndrome and cant resist helping out in every possible way. So that is how a prisoner ended up becoming the one in charge of the jail keys! And he’s like Everyone’s Dad. (Even the people decades older than him...)

* Former bully powerful friend The one other main child character, cos I wanted Malachi to have some friends. They start off at odds and she initially joins in with everyone bullying him, cos she wants to fit in. But he ends up helping her deal with her insecurities and realise she was only resenting him for being ‘weak’ because she saw herself reflected in him. or rather, the traits in herself she’d tried to hide to make everyone like her, even if it meant joining in with bullying and only having horrible asshole friends. So she sacrifices her popularity with the main clique in order to defend malachi, and ends up finding her first true friend with him. They’re better off being outcasts together! So yeah cutie malachi will have some sort of stronge deliquent friend with a heart of gold, and I’m not sure yet whether she’d be playable or not? i kinda feel like its not right to have someone that young join the party unless they have magic powers to protect them. So maybe she can fight by teaming up with malachi, actually? like, she rides atop his stone dragon golem form and supports with ranged weaponry or something. or just acts as an advisor? I liked the idea I had that there would be a buffs-only type of magic stone, and people could cast it on themselves to have enhanced senses at something or other and improve their supporting skills. Like the protagonist would maybe have an eyesight-enhancing buff crystal to act as a sniper scope!

* Rival warrior buff teen person Very undeveloped cos I just came up with them ysterday, lol! I’m thinking possibly make this character female just cos this archetype doesnt get to be female all that often. Kind of a draco malfoy type snooty rival, but with a more sympathetic side and ultimately you do become friends. Theyre just a simple ordinary citizen who was doing the best they could to protect their family before you came along, and now kinda resents the fact you’re all BETTER THAN EVERYONE and taking their job as guardian! They have a lot of anxieties over the fact they struggled so hard to become self-trained and now you’re here making it look easy. So the plot has a general theme of believing too much in ‘destiny’, and that some people are just born with talent and you’ll never succeed if you werent lucky enough. This character started off trying to act like theyre inherantly blessed with that talent, because they’re terrified that they aren’t... Oh and I think once you befriend them I think they might be like a ryuuji/junpei type of friend? But without the weird sexism and homophobia randomness that persona 4 threw onto yosuke. Just like a bit of a cheerful cliche ‘bro’ who isnt all that interested in books and likes to be all ‘cmon do it for the vine’. A good polar opposite to the protagonist who could have some cute interactions!

* Rival warrior’s chilled out older sibling figure of reasonableness Every rin needs a yukio! I think they’d be maybe a bartender or owner of a restaurant or something? Just some sort of super chilled out job where they act as an agony aunt to their customers, the place is very popular because of the great service. (Though also everyone is kinda like ‘yo you dont have to run it all by yourself, yo you dont need to give us bonus extra special treatment, seriously get some sleep dude!!’) But anyway they’re this perpetually relaxed super kind soul who’s always the reasonable response to their lil sib’s ohohoho angry rivalness. But the bad side to it is that they’re also a lil depressed and apathetic about their own life, they’re kinda like someone who really lives for their family, in a bad way. They’ve been like a single parent to their sibling because they had kind of a tragic backstory, and big sib has just grown too used to sacrificing everything in order to help other people and never taking care of themself. And they have a lot of trouble even.. feeling emotions. The outwardly chilled and happy-go-lucky facade covers up just a void of nothing but self hate and emptiness. They feel like they’d already been tainted by the way their abusive parents used to treat them, its too late for them and all they can do is try and save other people from falling down the same path. Oh, and I think maybe the two siblings are actually immigrants from the villain country? Like, when older sib ran away from the abusive family they ended up here, and now they try and keep it secret, to the point that even the younger sibling doesnt know where they were born. Basically I just wanna have a LOT of different subplots showing how the ordinary citizens of this country aren’t all evil just because their government are the bad guys in this story. And especially covering topics like characters who’re part of that ethnicity and get treated like they’re inherantly terrorists even if they were born and raised in a completely different country!
